- 0:01>> Speaker A: jasmine, oolong, green
- 0:04and white. Long ago, these four
- 0:07teas were skillfully brewed at the blissful brew.
- 0:10Then everything changed when the shops
- 0:13popularity threatened its existence.
- 0:16All Mister Okaron, the shops owner and tea
- 0:18master, could do was to recruit four teenage
- 0:21orphans to learn his trade and staff his
- 0:24shop. A year has passed since the orphans were
- 0:27hired, and although their skills have progressed, they
- 0:30still have a lot to learn before they can brew anything.
- 0:33But I believe that they have the potential to make the
- 0:35blissful brew the greatest tea shop in the
- 0:38world.
- 0:41>> Speaker B: Last time on benders and brews, an
- 0:43avatar legends podcast. The four of you are
- 0:46standing at the foot of an
- 0:49abandoned air nation temple.
- 0:51>> Speaker C: well, hello. My name is Guru
- 0:54Tapik.
- 0:55>> Speaker D: Is it haunted?
- 0:56>> Speaker B: No.
- 0:57>> Speaker C: I guess it is haunted. The spirit that resides
- 0:59here has no interest in eating your soul.
- 1:03The flesh on your bones will do just fine. Now
- 1:05it's just me here on Mount Kenkyo. I was
- 1:08alone until Okoran came to this
- 1:11mountain. We came to be good friends. He
- 1:14was fearful that something might happen to him.
- 1:17He asked me if I would be kind enough to help the
- 1:19children who he would send here
- 1:22to direct them to the clue he had left for all of
- 1:25you. So he had made use of some of
- 1:28the temples in their features to create a series
- 1:31of five trials.
- 1:33>> Speaker B: The first trial sits inside a cavern room
- 1:35above a deposit of lava that
- 1:38flows beneath the rocks. But it leaves the
- 1:41stones on the pathway across
- 1:44hot to the touch.
- 1:45>> Speaker E: I'm gonna try to extend that bridge.
- 1:47>> Speaker B: Okay, you grab onto the edge of this, and you
- 1:50basically pull the ground out from
- 1:53its connection to the wall, and you extend it
- 1:56ever so slightly to a point where
- 1:58everybody could cross. If you guys move into the next room, there's sort
- 2:01of just a doorway at the end of this bridge.
- 2:04The warmth from before, which was a very dry
- 2:07heat, is quickly replaced by a very humid
- 2:10heat. Features what seems to be a
- 2:13massive fuzzy balloon
- 2:16that's just stuffed in the doorway that would lead
- 2:19into the next room.
- 2:20>> Speaker F: I shall attempt to. Bugs bunny.
- 2:23>> Speaker B: Yes. You're able to create an opening and
- 2:25basically create a sort of secondary
- 2:28tunnel that goes around the balloon.
- 2:31>> Speaker D: Puzzle number three.
- 2:32>> Speaker B: You guys would step out of the doorway into a massive
- 2:35cavern with a humongous drop
- 2:38off of a divide that spans
- 2:40hundreds of feet in every direction.
- 2:43>> Speaker D: Okay, I'm gonna run back in the other room. Can I get the water particles?
- 2:46And just, like, push the balloon.
- 2:47>> Speaker B: When you put the cold air up to it,
- 2:50you notice just the very.
- 2:51>> Speaker D: Slightest deflation, the helium. bro?
- 2:55>> Speaker F: Oh, you did it.
- 2:57>> Speaker C: You got the balloon out.
- 2:59>> Speaker F: Okay. It's gonna be like the blob at summer camp. I'm
- 3:02gonna put a rock on one end, and
- 3:05I'm gonna jump onto the other end, see if
- 3:08I can't launch this bad boy all the way across the
- 3:11other side.
- 3:16>> Speaker B: Welcome back, everybody, to episode four
- 3:19of benders and brews season
- 3:22trace. That's three if you don't speak
- 3:24Spanish. Jumping right in. just a
- 3:27really quick shout out to our awesome
- 3:30friends Robzor 86, who left
- 3:33us an, ah, awesome five star review,
- 3:36alongside some other people who left us five star reviews, but they didn't say
- 3:39anything, which is cool. That's totally fine,
- 3:41totally acceptable. But I just wanted to highlight Rob Zor
- 3:4486, who said, great podcast,
- 3:47great show to listen to. Lots of exclamation marks
- 3:50in there. Love it. So just want to say thank you.
- 3:53>> Speaker A: Rob Zor 86, for that shout
- 3:55out.
- 3:56>> Speaker B: whatever the case, last time you
- 3:59guys were making your way through the air
- 4:02temple, the sort of abandoned air temple where you guys met
- 4:05Guru Tapik and he was leading
- 4:08you guys through the trials, and you guys
- 4:10did one where you had to try to make it across hot
- 4:14stones. Kind of a throwback to the one
- 4:17shot Bill and Brock adventure a little bit there. the second
- 4:20one that you guys had to do involved this giant
- 4:22sheepskin balloon that was kind of stuck in the doorway,
- 4:25keeping you guys from getting through. And third, and finally,
- 4:28which is where we left off at, you have this giant
- 4:31cavern that you're trying to get across. This just
- 4:34drop in the. In the mountain below you, or whatever you want to call
- 4:37it, there was a rope bridge. It's been split in
- 4:40two, so it's just kind of hanging there limp on either side.
- 4:43And, Mika, using some ingenuity, actually
- 4:46managed to go back and get the balloon out of the
- 4:48doorway and brought it into this room
- 4:51where. Where Brock is currently at this
- 4:54very moment prepping to do sort of like
- 4:57a double bounce situation to hopefully send
- 5:00him flying across the cavern.
- 5:02>> Speaker F: Myself and Bill are currently flying
- 5:04through the air, which.
- 5:06>> Speaker B: Wait, no.
- 5:06>> Speaker E: Didn't we do a dummy?
- 5:08>> Speaker F: Oh, yeah.
- 5:08>> Speaker B: Well, we did try a dummy. Yep. And Brock used a
- 5:11rock.
- 5:12>> Speaker F: It's a rock that's the same size as. Whoa.
- 5:15>> Speaker B: Yes.
- 5:15>> Speaker F: Me and Bill are currently falling
- 5:18towards the balloon as we speak.
- 5:21>> Speaker B: So the rock just about worked. but the
- 5:23concept was, it was more like, what was the thing? Like the pool.
- 5:26>> Speaker F: It was like the blob at summer camps.
- 5:28>> Speaker B: Yeah, everybody knows the blob at summer camp. That giant inflatable
- 5:31and you sit on one little spot, and then someone else.
- 5:33>> Speaker F: Jumps down from, like, the hot dog. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:36>> Speaker B: I mean, there's, like, they make lots of different versions of
- 5:39it, and then it, like, launches you, and you
- 5:42just go, like, flying or whatever. And it almost worked.
- 5:45The rock actually almost made it to the other side before it just tumbled
- 5:48into the ravine below. And so, Brock, you were like,
- 5:51hey, let's double bounce it. That'll add a little bit
- 5:53more oomph and hopefully a little bit more
- 5:56direction. horizontal direction versus
- 5:59vertical. But whatever the case, I'm getting way ahead of myself. I haven't even
- 6:02introduced you guys, so that people listening know who
- 6:05the heck is who, which, if you don't know who
- 6:08the heck is who, you should probably go back and listen through the show. I know we say
- 6:11that a lot here, but it's true. but whatever the case, we also have
- 6:14fun facts, of course, for every one of the characters. So we'll start to my
- 6:17right, Dave. Dave, who you playing?
- 6:20>> Speaker E: I'm playing Guo Han,
- 6:22the adamant earthbender.
- 6:25And are we doing facts?
- 6:27>> Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:29>> Speaker E: Guo has socks he wears on
- 6:32his feet, but he has a left sock
- 6:35and a right sock. And each morning
- 6:38when he puts his socks on, he makes sure to put
- 6:41the correct sock on the correct foot.
- 6:43>> Speaker F: All right, that reminds me.
- 6:46>> Speaker B: And he gets it right every single time.
- 6:48>> Speaker F: That reminds me of a story
- 6:50of. So, basketball athletic
- 6:53socks. They will actually have the letter l and r on the
- 6:56socks. Really? Oh, yeah. They'll form, fit them
- 6:59to, like, get a left.
- 7:01>> Speaker B: No way.
- 7:01>> Speaker F: To, like athletic socks. Yeah, well, I was.
- 7:04We're, putting our clothes on before a basketball
- 7:07game, and one of the guys on our team went, dang it. I
- 7:10brought two different types of socks, and we're like, what are you talking about? And
- 7:13he's like, well, I brought an l sock and an r
- 7:15sock. And we're like, yeah, that's right. He's like, no, l stands for
- 7:18large. R stands for regular.
- 7:22>> Speaker B: There's no such thing as smalls mediums.
- 7:25>> Speaker F: he was dead serious, too. Oh, he
- 7:28brought two different, and that.
- 7:29>> Speaker B: Dude dealt with some major m foot
- 7:32warpage.
- 7:33>> Speaker F: The one time he brought the two correct
- 7:35socks. He was mad. Correct. Yes.
- 7:39>> Speaker B: I like to think that, like, he put them on that day, and he was,
- 7:42like, experienced, something
- 7:45he'd never experienced before, which was correctly fitting.
- 7:47Psy.
- 7:48>> Speaker F: I would have said who the person.
- 7:50>> Speaker B: Was, but, yeah, now that checks out.
- 7:52>> Speaker F: Awesome.
- 7:53>> Speaker B: Well, jumping out of order because of.
- 7:56So does Guo pin and l and r on his
- 7:58socks?
- 8:00>> Speaker E: No, he can just, he can feel it. Maybe it's
- 8:03an earthbender thing.
- 8:04>> Speaker B: It's similar to how Brock can grab a rock and know
- 8:07exactly how much it weighs. Guo can grab a sock and
- 8:10knows exactly which, but it goes
- 8:14all right, that's canon. Now, if we ever have
- 8:16these sock.
- 8:17>> Speaker D: Encounters, let's not have
- 8:20any more feet.
- 8:22>> Speaker B: Pigs
- 8:23awaiting a little bit out of
- 8:26order just because you had a whole story. Cameron,
- 8:29who are you and what's your character's? Interesting
- 8:31fact?
- 8:32>> Speaker F: Bill Doerr. I'm a stick bender.
- 8:35>> Speaker B: Nice.
- 8:35>> Speaker F: Yeah. And, Bill's fun fact is he
- 8:38really likes sushi and, like, seafood
- 8:41stuff.
- 8:41>> Speaker B: Oh, like, really.
- 8:42>> Speaker F: He really likes seafood.
- 8:44>> Speaker B: Interesting.
- 8:44>> Speaker D: And it, no, he's a pirate after all.
- 8:46>> Speaker F: That's true. Well, I was a pirate for one
- 8:49day, but as I've said in the past, my
- 8:51family was avid semen.
- 8:55Yes, seamen.
- 8:56>> Speaker B: Sailors.
- 8:56>> Speaker F: Sailors. No, they were avid beachgoers, and they would go
- 8:59out on the, my parents fishing boat a lot. okay. And so
- 9:02because of that, Bill, would go fishing a lot. Yeah. They
- 9:05would eat a lot of seafood, and his mom made fantastic sushi.
- 9:08And so now he's just like
- 9:11a big sushi lover. But there's not much
- 9:13sushi in the earth kingdom.
- 9:15>> Speaker B: Yeah, that's true. That makes sense.
- 9:17>> Speaker F: So Bill's kind of been deprived of sushi for a
- 9:20good while.
- 9:21>> Speaker B: Yeah, no, that actually makes a lot of sense. You got, you've got the air
- 9:24nomads, which are very, like, non meat. They're very
- 9:26vegetarian.
- 9:27>> Speaker F: You could make sushi.
- 9:29>> Speaker B: That's true.
- 9:29>> Speaker F: Yeah.
- 9:30>> Speaker B: You can do vegetable sushi. you've got the earth nation, which
- 9:32really seems very, like meat and potato.
- 9:34>> Speaker F: Earthy food.
- 9:36>> Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. You have the water
- 9:38tribe, which I feel like they're kind of,
- 9:41not to sound rude, but it's like we're making do with
- 9:44what we have within our region because there's a very harsh
- 9:47region within the kind of polar sides of the
- 9:50world, very cold, not super conducive
- 9:52to growth and things. And then if you look at,
- 9:55like, the fire nation, it's just like a whole line of
- 9:58islands, kind of like Hawaii or
- 10:01Japan. And, that just makes a lot of sense
- 10:03that it's very seafood oriented.
- 10:06>> Speaker F: Yeah.
- 10:06>> Speaker B: So.
- 10:06>> Speaker A: Yeah, no, right on.
- 10:07>> Speaker B: I like it. I like it. Very cool. Mika
- 10:10or Mikayla. See, your name and your character
- 10:13name are just too close. Throws me off.
- 10:16>> Speaker D: not sorry about it.
- 10:17>> Speaker F: Three seasons in.
- 10:18>> Speaker B: Fair enough. Yeah.
- 10:20>> Speaker D: In a few years of friendship.
- 10:24>> Speaker D: Ow. I am, I'm Mikayla. I play
- 10:27Micah. And Micah's fun fact is that she
- 10:30is double jointed in her thumbs.
- 10:31>> Speaker F: Whoa.
- 10:33>> Speaker B: That's kind of sick, bro.
- 10:36Did she do anything with that? I mean, she hasn't up until now, or at
- 10:39least now that we haven't.
- 10:40>> Speaker D: Seen it, but she hasn't really needed the
- 10:43opportunity.
- 10:44>> Speaker E: Advanced water bending
- 10:46techniques.
- 10:47>> Speaker F: Yeah.
- 10:49>> Speaker B: Integrate it into your movements.
- 10:52>> Speaker D: Yeah, right on.
- 10:54>> Speaker B: I dig it. I dig it.
- 10:55>> Speaker F: I hope that she gets, like, the.
- 10:58>> Speaker D: Right angles in her waterbending.
- 11:02>> Speaker B: I'm gonna find some, like, really
- 11:05disturbing, like, bone, popping sounds that I'm
- 11:08gonna integrate every single time you water
- 11:10bend as you use your double
- 11:13joints in your fingers just to really,
- 11:16like, irk the audience.
- 11:18>> Speaker D: They might like it.
- 11:19>> Speaker B: They might be into it.
- 11:20>> Speaker D: It might be some weird ASmr vibe to it.
- 11:23>> Speaker B: I don't know. Go back and do another Halloween
- 11:26episode. awesome. Fantastic. Last
- 11:28but not least, we've got Connor.
- 11:31>> Speaker F: What's up? I'm Connor playing
- 11:33broccoli the earthbender. his
- 11:36fun fact is, despite his name, he is not a
- 11:39fan of broccoli. Growing up on the cabbage farm,
- 11:42there's beef between them and the broccoli guys. You know,
- 11:45just an unfortunate coincidence that ended up
- 11:48being his name.
- 11:49>> Speaker B: They got some intense rivalry
- 11:51between the.
- 11:52>> Speaker F: Broccoli farmers and the cabbage farmers. Yeah, there's
- 11:55a, beef that goes back generations,
- 11:58and for some reason, they named their kid
- 12:01broccoli after their main competitors.
- 12:02>> Speaker B: They really just were focused on Brock. They did not.
- 12:05>> Speaker F: I was gonna say, I feel like this could be even a funnier joke where,
- 12:08like, one of the
- 12:10neighbors, like, suggest your dad was
- 12:13going around looking for names for his child, and one of your neighbors
- 12:16was like, what about Brock? That's a cool name. And started
- 12:19hyping it up, and then secretly, they're like, he's gonna fall for
- 12:22it, isn't he? And if
- 12:25Brock's dad anything like Brock.
- 12:28>> Speaker D: He probably made a bet.
- 12:30>> Speaker F: Or it was like, a Romeo and Juliet situation where, like,
- 12:33the broccoli woman married the cabbage
- 12:36man and then they had a child. I
- 12:40mend fences. They named him
- 12:43broccoli. You never know.
- 12:44>> Speaker B: Or perhaps broccoli is the
- 12:47proverbial Romeo in this situation, and you're going
- 12:50to meet a beautiful young
- 12:53cab.
- 12:54>> Speaker F: Broccoli based, a broccoli
- 12:57based girl named Cabbage.
- 12:59>> Speaker B: Cabbage.
- 13:00>> Speaker F: Cabbage. Cabbage cabbie
- 13:04last name is beige.
- 13:06>> Speaker B: Oof, that's. Oof, that's interesting. Cabbage,
- 13:09cabbage. And, yeah, things. Sparks will
- 13:12fly, romance won't ensue, and then
- 13:15a lot of people die, and that's where it gets really
- 13:18depressing. But that's the goal. Juliet?
- 13:20>> Speaker F: Yeah. Then, yeah. Yeah.
- 13:23That's Romeo and Juliet for you. Yeah.
- 13:25>> Speaker B: Sorry, everybody. But, hey, we'll look forward to
- 13:27that story further down the way. I'm
- 13:30Skyler. I'm your game master. interesting fact about
- 13:33me, since we were on the topic of basketball, I
- 13:36didn't know anything about the fact that socks
- 13:39were different either. But I also only
- 13:41played basketball for, like, three days back in high school.
- 13:44And then I said, I hate this more than anything in the
- 13:47world, so I quit.
- 13:49>> Speaker F: Yeah.
- 13:50>> Speaker B: And that's how I got into dungeons and drinking. No, no,
- 13:53I'm totally kidding.
- 13:54>> Speaker F: But anyway.
- 13:57>> Speaker B: Welcome to Benner to brew, season three, episode
- 14:00four.
- 14:05All right, everybody, so as mentioned before, you guys are
- 14:07currently inside the third, the big
- 14:10open cavern for the third trial. There's a giant
- 14:13sheepskin balloon, and on one end
- 14:16sits Bill. No, you're gonna
- 14:19double jump. So you're both up on the ledge, right.
- 14:22Right next to each other. Okay.
- 14:23>> Speaker F: Yeah.
- 14:24>> Speaker B: And then to be clear,
- 14:26Brock is launching. Bill.
- 14:29>> Speaker F: No, no, we're the other way around. We're like Lincoln arms
- 14:32and we're jumping together.
- 14:33>> Speaker B: Oh, the double bounce is.
- 14:34>> Speaker F: I don't know what we're launching. We're launching a rock
- 14:37roughly the size of. Yeah. Gohan
- 14:40shaped rock.
- 14:41>> Speaker B: So this is still practice.
- 14:43>> Speaker E: Roughly the size. But exactly the weight.
- 14:45>> Speaker F: Exactly the weight. He even
- 14:48picked up Brock. He even picked up Guohan right
- 14:51beforehand. He left him with one, one hand, tossed him a
- 14:54couple times up in the air.
- 14:57>> Speaker B: Yes, this is good weight.
- 14:59>> Speaker F: Good weight.
- 15:01>> Speaker B: Okay, so we've got the basic
- 15:04moves here. Helping, is an
- 15:07option. So I'm gonna say that one of you is gonna make
- 15:09a, probably a push
- 15:12your luck. Cause this really doesn't feel
- 15:15like.
- 15:15>> Speaker A: Rely on your skills in training.
- 15:17>> Speaker B: I'm gonna be honest with you guys.
- 15:18>> Speaker E: I just.
- 15:18>> Speaker B: I have high doubts that you guys have ever tried
- 15:21something quite like this before.
- 15:23>> Speaker F: You may.
- 15:24>> Speaker B: So I'm gonna say push your luck. But the other person
- 15:27can try to help or you can
- 15:30help. All you have to do is, mark fatigue, and
- 15:33it adds plus one to their role. So, I mean,
- 15:36again, you guys decide if you wanna do a help,
- 15:38it's up to you. But if you do, tell me who's doing the
- 15:42help and who's gonna roll. Push your luck.
- 15:44>> Speaker F: Okay, so I should probably push my luck.
- 15:46>> Speaker B: All right, so you're helping. You mark the
- 15:49fatigue. And, I mean, you're, like, literally helping. You
- 15:51and Brock are both jumping. Now, here's
- 15:54what I'm going to do if you guys succeed at this,
- 15:57because you can, as we've established
- 16:00canonically, you can tell the weight and things of
- 16:03rocks.
- 16:03>> Speaker F: Yes.
- 16:03>> Speaker B: If you succeed at this, I won't make you reroll
- 16:06or do anything for when you. When you bounce.
- 16:09>> Speaker F: Guo. Hooray. Okay, we get to. I
- 16:12rolled.
- 16:12>> Speaker B: So 1111
- 16:15plus plus one.
- 16:16>> Speaker F: Or is that, I got a nine. So plus two is eleven, plus
- 16:18his one is twelve.
- 16:19>> Speaker B: Holy cow, that's a perfect twelve. All right, all
- 16:22right.
- 16:22>> Speaker F: So.
- 16:26>> Speaker B: Holy cow, why can't I. Huzzah.
- 16:28>> Speaker F: Excelsior. There it is.
- 16:31>> Speaker B: On a ten plus. Your boldness pays off despite the
- 16:34cost. All right, so not only do you succeed, but you get a lucky
- 16:37opportunity. To clarify, I'm going to have the lucky opportunity that
- 16:40you can do this again, and recreate it.
- 16:43>> Speaker F: So sick.
- 16:44>> Speaker B: You guys bounce off of this ledge.
- 16:47>> Speaker A: And drop this rock at the same time, kind of
- 16:50as you're coming down.
- 16:51>> Speaker B: You guys all, with the rock, hit.
- 16:54>> Speaker A: The balloon at the same time, causing.
- 16:57>> Speaker B: This amazing double bounce scenario that launches
- 16:59the rock plenty well across the
- 17:02entire cavern. guru tapik watches in
- 17:05awe, his mouth gaping in
- 17:07incredulity as this rock makes it to
- 17:10the other end and comes to a soft roll
- 17:13just before hitting the cave wall on the other
- 17:16side.
- 17:17>> Speaker F: Well, ready for the real thing.
- 17:19>> Speaker E: Well, tally ho,
- 17:21lads. Load me up.
- 17:24>> Speaker F: Let's do it again. Same as before.
- 17:26>> Speaker B: You see, sweat dripping from the brow of guru
- 17:29Tapi because he actually flies
- 17:32himself over to the other side and gets ready to
- 17:35airbend. Pull Guo a little bit closer. If
- 17:38it looks like he's not quite gonna make it but doesn't
- 17:41believe it, well, he's just being cautious.
- 17:43Things can go wrong. But whatever the case, like I said, you don't
- 17:46have to roll again. You have successfully proven that you
- 17:49can do this. So you guys jump down
- 17:52alongside Guo, all timing it just right, just
- 17:55like you did with the rock. Guo, you are.
- 17:58You feel yourself hit the balloon and then you suddenly feel
- 18:00the rush of air as you get shot across the
- 18:03entire cavern. Your, heart rises in your chest
- 18:06as well as your stomach. Kind of like when you go down a roller coaster.
- 18:09>> Speaker D: Kind of like when he got shot out of the cannon at the circus.
- 18:12>> Speaker B: Yeah, he's got a lot of
- 18:14practice. Yeah, I was gonna say perfect form
- 18:17to, like, shoot through at like a bullet speed. You actually make
- 18:20it further than a rock does. And, guru Tapika is on
- 18:23the other side and he actually pulls the air around you to keep
- 18:26you from slamming into the wall just because you were
- 18:29better than expected.
- 18:30>> Speaker F: But sure enough, you make it to the other side.
- 18:34Is that what you yell while flying? Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:37Yell.
- 18:37>> Speaker E: Yell my name.
- 18:43>> Speaker B: Awesome. And then, obviously, since you were able to
- 18:46get him across, you could also get Mika
- 18:49across if she's down for that.
- 18:52>> Speaker D: Doubtful.
- 18:53>> Speaker F: Doubtful. How else you plan on getting across? Hop
- 18:56on. Guo was fine. Look. There he is.
- 18:58Say I wave at glow. Who's across from
- 19:01us?
- 19:02>> Speaker E: Hey, guys.
- 19:03>> Speaker F: I made it. Yeah, see? He's totally fine.
- 19:05>> Speaker E: I'm gonna try to make a bridge from
- 19:08this side.
- 19:09>> Speaker B: Oh, that's a good idea.
- 19:10>> Speaker F: Oh, but that's way less fun. No safety grip. It's
- 19:13for. It's for us to Brock. Oh, well,
- 19:16like, because once we watch Mika, we're just stuck.
- 19:19No, no. see, we can't hop on. It's
- 19:22fine. Look. Gloves. Fine. Yes. He goes.
- 19:25Fine. Look, the air guy caught him. Yeah. I tell
- 19:27you what. I can. So, since
- 19:30I could, like, scale things, I may have to
- 19:33roll again for this. But could I sit on the
- 19:36balloon and then earth bend a
- 19:39rock to come down? To come down
- 19:42and launch me right now?
- 19:45I mean, hypothetically, could I do that? Yeah.
- 19:48So, like, we wouldn't.
- 19:49>> Speaker B: You would jump at the same time, right? Because you tried it
- 19:52with the rock sitting on it. It was the double
- 19:55bounce that really kind of helped you guys. So you could have
- 19:58the rock fall at the same time that bill
- 20:01jumps. And that gives it, like, an excess weight, which
- 20:04helps launch you a little bit further. I think that's how science work.
- 20:07I could be wrong.
- 20:07>> Speaker F: What if I had the added weight of myself
- 20:10and Bill fall from
- 20:13the top while I'm just sitting there? So
- 20:16that way, the double bounce. Oh, okay. Just kind of
- 20:19shoots me out.
- 20:20>> Speaker B: Well, doesn't the double bounce itself create
- 20:23additional.
- 20:23>> Speaker F: I thought it was just the extra weight. Because the more
- 20:26weight that falls on one side. Sure. The larger
- 20:29the output of force. That's least what I
- 20:32learned at summer camp.
- 20:32>> Speaker B: You know what? I would say that because you're able to get a better
- 20:35angle on the balloon. I'd say, sure.
- 20:37>> Speaker F: Sick.
- 20:38>> Speaker B: Okay, so we wouldn't necessarily.
- 20:40>> Speaker F: I'm just thinking that so we wouldn't necessarily be trapped here.
- 20:43If I were to launch. Once I launched
- 20:45Mika, and then once I launched Bill.
- 20:47>> Speaker B: Right, right.
- 20:48>> Speaker D: I didn't even agree to this.
- 20:50>> Speaker F: You're gonna be stuck on this side if you don't do it.
- 20:53Snoozy lose. Bill, hop up. Let's go. Okay. All right.
- 20:56>> Speaker B: Don't you need me to help you launch?
- 20:57>> Speaker F: No, no. I'm gonna make a rock that's roughly,
- 21:00like, even a little heavier than you. Okay. And I'm gonna
- 21:03jump with this rock, and we're gonna launch you.
- 21:05>> Speaker B: You know, this isn't the first time.
- 21:06>> Speaker F: I've been launched across the a cavern with you,
- 21:09Brock. oh. Yeah,
- 21:12yeah. But, you know, this time's different. Second
- 21:15time's gonna be better. There's a professional airbender on the
- 21:18other side. I feel a lot safer this time.
- 21:20>> Speaker D: Isn't he on our side?
- 21:22>> Speaker F: He's on their side. He flew across.
- 21:24>> Speaker B: No, he's right over there. Don't you see?
- 21:26>> Speaker F: I mean, I got a nine again. He's waving. See? Hi,
- 21:28guru.
- 21:30>> Speaker B: He waves back.
- 21:31>> Speaker F: See? There he is. All right,
- 21:34well, Bill, let's do this. So
- 21:36I'm going anywhere quick? Well, I actually. You actually are
- 21:39going to go very quick. I will be.
- 21:42>> Speaker B: All right. So you get you launched across
- 21:45the cabin.
- 21:48>> Speaker F: All right.
- 21:49>> Speaker E: Casually. Casually.
- 21:50>> Speaker F: Oh, casually. Yeah.
- 21:54This is a lot nicer than last time I blew across the
- 21:56cavern. Quite lovely where I was in pure panic
- 21:59mode.
- 22:00>> Speaker B: And Guru Tapik uses his airbending to kind of soften
- 22:03your landing a little bit.
- 22:04>> Speaker F: All right, last chance, Mika. Train's leaving.
- 22:07I made it, and I'm a lot heavier than
- 22:09you. Train's leaving.
- 22:11>> Speaker D: Fine.
- 22:12>> Speaker F: All right.
- 22:13>> Speaker B: All right, Mika. Also, wing
- 22:16gets launched across the cavern to the other side.
- 22:19Guo, were you making a bridge?
- 22:22Is that what you said?
- 22:23>> Speaker E: I'm trying to make, like, a. An outcropping
- 22:26that slanted a little bit to help with the
- 22:28landing.
- 22:29>> Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, absolutely. I would say as
- 22:32an earthbender, with a little bit of time, I won't even make you
- 22:35roll. It just makes sense that you kind of shape this.
- 22:37I mean, it's mountain. It's literally just rock all around you. Plenty of
- 22:40earth to work with. So, yeah, you shape this and maybe even in the
- 22:44wall, kind of where everybody's kind of been landing up until now,
- 22:47so that they can kind of slowly roll into it a little bit
- 22:49softer.
- 22:50>> Speaker F: Yeah.
- 22:51>> Speaker B: And then. All right, so this time I will have you roll. So you're
- 22:54launching yourself. So I will say that if
- 22:57you want to make it. I know you rolled, but I'm just saying if
- 22:59you want to make it a. Rely on your skills and training since you've done this,
- 23:02like, three times now. Totally up to you.
- 23:05>> Speaker F: I'm rolling.
- 23:05>> Speaker B: It'll just be a different stat.
- 23:06>> Speaker F: So passion would be better. Okay.
- 23:08>> Speaker B: Yeah, that's totally fine.
- 23:09>> Speaker F: Well, I rolled a nine. Okay, so it's either a nine
- 23:12or an eleven. An eleven. Oh.
- 23:15>> Speaker B: Oh, well, yeah, if it's eleven, then it just succeeds. So, sure enough,
- 23:18your expert skills that we have canonically established
- 23:21of being able to weigh a rock just
- 23:24by feeling it.
- 23:25>> Speaker F: I knew that would come in handy.
- 23:27>> Speaker B: Yes, it was very well done coming up with
- 23:30basically a superpower predator.
- 23:32>> Speaker F: Yes. It's really obscure, though, if you
- 23:35think about it. It's really obscure.
- 23:37>> Speaker B: This is one of the exact situation.
- 23:39>> Speaker F: Like, if we were to. It's either this or, like, when it's like
- 23:42the. Guess the weight of the pig. I was gonna say, like, at the
- 23:45carnival.
- 23:46>> Speaker B: I guess it takes you guys to the carnival.
- 23:54>> Speaker F: What are you? What are you. What?
- 23:56>> Speaker B: You get this guy out of here.
- 23:59>> Speaker F: He's a witch. Fantastic.
- 24:01>> Speaker B: Well, you successfully make it to the other side. Easy
- 24:03peasy. And, everybody's there. And
- 24:06you guys follow, tapique to the
- 24:09next challenge, next trial, whatever you want to
- 24:12call it. All right, the fourth trial. So,
- 24:15after crossing the divide and arriving on the other side,
- 24:18you all find yourselves, coming down kind of
- 24:21a long tunnel. And you start to feel a breeze blowing through
- 24:24this tunnel, leading to the next trial. And the deeper that
- 24:27you go, the more intense the winds start to slam
- 24:30into you, until the tunnel finally opens up
- 24:33into a room with a stair, a nice, like, carved
- 24:36staircase, at the end of it. But the wind is
- 24:38shooting down the staircase, and it is so
- 24:41incredibly intense to the point where it's keeping
- 24:44you from even moving forward. You're
- 24:47doing everything in your power not to be knocked
- 24:49back. Your goal is to figure a way to get up the
- 24:52stairs and into the tunnel, which kind of
- 24:55curves off to the side of where the wind seems to be
- 24:58stemming from. And guru tapik, amidst all
- 25:01the wind.
- 25:01>> Speaker C: He shouts out, you know, it's not
- 25:04always like this. This isn't even one of the
- 25:07trials. You guys just picked a windy day to stop
- 25:09by. If you want to wait a day or two
- 25:12for this wind to subside, you're more than
- 25:15welcome to, but I have a feeling you don't have the
- 25:18kind of time. Unfortunately.
- 25:20>> Speaker F: Indeed we are.
- 25:24All right.
- 25:24>> Speaker B: We will go forward with the idea that
- 25:27everybody is shouting over the wind without us having to
- 25:30shout.
- 25:31>> Speaker F: What'd you say?
- 25:35>> Speaker E: I couldn't hear you. Could you repeat
- 25:37everything you said?
- 25:41>> Speaker D: Can I just, like, freeze the air?
- 25:43>> Speaker B: Freeze the air.
- 25:44>> Speaker D: I don't know. We live in an area
- 25:47where the wind hurts your face. That's true.
- 25:50>> Speaker B: So you're just like, I want to cause pain to my phone.
- 25:53>> Speaker F: Oh, shit.
- 25:55>> Speaker B: I would say that the constant, like, movement of air would
- 25:57probably dry out the air a lot more. So
- 26:00there's not as much moisture even to work with right now.
- 26:04>> Speaker D: Where's the air coming from?
- 26:05>> Speaker B: So, at the top of the stairs, there's, there's the main tunnel that
- 26:08kind of goes off to the left, and then there's just kind of like one
- 26:11singular opening. And that seems to be where the wind is,
- 26:14like, coming down into it's hitting this
- 26:16tunnel and then following it down through the tunnel.
- 26:18>> Speaker D: So one of our earth vendor bros can
- 26:21just, we plug it up?
- 26:23>> Speaker B: Yeah, may be able to.
- 26:24>> Speaker F: How far away is it?
- 26:25>> Speaker B: It's maybe like ten to 15ft away.
- 26:29>> Speaker D: Just roll a stone in front of it.
- 26:31>> Speaker F: Child's play.
- 26:32>> Speaker B: All right.
- 26:33>> Speaker F: Child's play. Play, right. Well,
- 26:37yeah.
- 26:39All right. So if it's like 1015ft away,
- 26:43what kind of earth is around us right now that I could
- 26:46use to plug this up?
- 26:47>> Speaker B: well, it's inside this mountain.
- 26:49>> Speaker F: Oh, so it's like all earth?
- 26:50>> Speaker B: Yeah.
- 26:51>> Speaker F: Okay, so could I. I'm,
- 26:54gonna roll to
- 26:57just rip out a hunk of stone
- 27:00and just
- 27:03whack it over into this hole and plug it
- 27:06up in an attempt to stop this ramp.
- 27:08>> Speaker B: Oh, okay. yeah. that one's definitely rely on
- 27:11your skills and training.
- 27:12>> Speaker F: That's with focus.
- 27:13>> Speaker B: Yep.
- 27:13>> Speaker F: Okay.
- 27:16Six.
- 27:17>> Speaker B: Six.
- 27:17>> Speaker F: Oh, man.
- 27:19>> Speaker B: That is a fail. Okay, so you go
- 27:22to punch this chunk of rock
- 27:24towards this opening and hopefully seal it up, and instead
- 27:27you punch it. It goes, you feel like you punched it with all your
- 27:30might.
- 27:30>> Speaker F: Possible.
- 27:31>> Speaker B: It goes a couple of feet, and then it just kind of seems
- 27:34to stand still in the air for half a second before
- 27:37being launched back at you guys and you narrowly dodge
- 27:40out of the way.
- 27:42>> Speaker F: Well, that's about all I can do. Anyone else got any? What are these
- 27:45stairs made out of?
- 27:46>> Speaker D: Whoa, bro, your turn.
- 27:48>> Speaker F: is there any handholds in the stairs? Like, are they
- 27:51roughly made or are they made with.
- 27:53>> Speaker B: They're made pretty, like, nicely.
- 27:55>> Speaker F: Honestly, they're pretty smooth.
- 27:57>> Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I m mean, you guys aren't even quite at,
- 28:00like, there's maybe like a five foot section before you get to the
- 28:03stairs. And then the stairs go up, probably another 5ft, and
- 28:06then that's where the tunnel kind of breaks away from where the
- 28:09wind is coming from.
- 28:10>> Speaker E: Stairs are smooth as Guo's
- 28:12cheeks.
- 28:14>> Speaker B: Good to know. Interesting character fact.
- 28:18You did the same thing last episode where you said
- 28:20something interesting about
- 28:22Gon,
- 28:25your character back.
- 28:27>> Speaker E: Guo, seeing that there are no hand
- 28:30or footholds, is going to try to make some.
- 28:33>> Speaker B: Okay.
- 28:34>> Speaker E: As he goes, he's going to try to, like, make
- 28:37an end in the stairs to, like, a toehold.
- 28:40>> Speaker F: Okay.
- 28:41>> Speaker E: And then on. So just on one side of the
- 28:43stairs, kind of. And then make handholds on the
- 28:46side, on the wall.
- 28:48>> Speaker B: Oh, okay. To kind of, like, pull on and so on.
- 28:50>> Speaker E: Yeah.
- 28:50>> Speaker F: Okay. Yeah.
- 28:51>> Speaker B: Go for it. Do, do rely on your skills and training as well.
- 28:55>> Speaker E: Got an eight.
- 28:57>> Speaker B: Okay. So you do it imperfectly. So you start
- 29:00to make your way up. You are sort of, with.
- 29:03With earth bending powers, jamming your hands into the
- 29:06wall. and as you start going, the wind
- 29:08becomes, you know, slightly more and more intense, and
- 29:11you start to feel your legs being kind of
- 29:14lifted off the ground. you could
- 29:17keep going, but you might have a
- 29:20chance that you might get thrown backwards.
- 29:24I'm going to have a push your luck after this. And if you
- 29:26fail, I would say, if you
- 29:29succeed, if you get a ten, you get a
- 29:32full success, you'll make it. If you get
- 29:35anything less than that, you take a
- 29:37fatigue, and it's just a difference between whether you barely make it
- 29:40or not.
- 29:54>> Speaker A: Hey, everyone. Skylar here. Are you a fan of session zero
- 29:57heroes and the shows we produce or the characters involved?
- 30:00Then you should check out our epic merch we have available online,

- 30:08your favorite characters on those products as well. Whether you're looking

- 30:20head over to our website at session zeroheroes.com and
- 30:23click on our merch tab to see all the amazing products and designs
- 30:26that you can get. Now back to the show.
- 30:37>> Speaker B: So if you get the seven to nine, you'll make it, but you take a
- 30:40fatigue. If you
- 30:42get anything less, you get thrown backwards and you take fatigue.
- 30:45>> Speaker E: Guo's starting to be bullied by this.
- 30:48>> Speaker B: Wind a little bit.
- 30:49>> Speaker E: He looks back at
- 30:51Bill just like, kind of for some
- 30:54reassurance.
- 30:56>> Speaker F: Bill goes, yeah. oh. Whoa. You seem
- 30:59to be losing your foot in there. And he just kind of,
- 31:02what is that voice? Oh, I don't know what
- 31:05that voice. That's my pirate, my garden into me
- 31:08scurvy.
- 31:08>> Speaker E: Always from yelling over the wind.
- 31:11>> Speaker F: Yeah, that's why I was trying to yell, but also
- 31:14talk.
- 31:14>> Speaker B: Yeah.
- 31:15>> Speaker F: Oh, let me help you out there.
- 31:18whoa. And, Bill's gonna grab what's in the air. His
- 31:21feet are in the air? Yeah, he's starting to
- 31:24grab his feet and just start shoving
- 31:27him forward.
- 31:30>> Speaker B: So you're gonna do help?
- 31:31>> Speaker F: Yeah, I'm helping him by just basically stabilizing his
- 31:34feet and, like, pushing them back down so, like, he can
- 31:37be stable.
- 31:37>> Speaker B: Oh, he's just putting him back on the good.
- 31:39>> Speaker F: So you literally just shoving him back into the
- 31:42ground.
- 31:43>> Speaker B: All right, sounds good. So now you've got your feet back
- 31:45basically on the ground. So you'll get a plus one on this
- 31:48111.
- 31:50>> Speaker E: Eleven.
- 31:52>> Speaker B: Okay. So thanks to, Bill putting your feet
- 31:54back on the ground, you start to press in, and the
- 31:57stone itself kind of moves up behind your
- 32:00feet, giving you kind of, like, little sections that you can hold on
- 32:03to. And eventually you make it all the way to the
- 32:06end, creating some holes in the wall and some sort
- 32:09of footholds that someone might be able to use
- 32:11behind you. Who m is next?
- 32:14>> Speaker F: Oh, I'll follow him.
- 32:15>> Speaker B: okay.
- 32:16>> Speaker D: He's already there.
- 32:17>> Speaker F: Yeah, I was already there. So I'm just gonna.
- 32:19>> Speaker B: You just following after?
- 32:21>> Speaker F: Yeah, I'm following him.
- 32:22>> Speaker E: give me your stick.
- 32:24>> Speaker B: Yeah, sure.
- 32:25>> Speaker E: I reach around the corner, holding up.
- 32:27>> Speaker F: I, like, push it up past him, like, under
- 32:30his arm so you can just grab it while going. Yeah.
- 32:34>> Speaker E: Like, I try to hang on to the stick and help you.
- 32:37>> Speaker F: Oh, yeah. And I come up and he's a, he's a wind
- 32:40blocker right now.
- 32:41>> Speaker B: Yeah.
- 32:41>> Speaker F: So it's easier for me to get up right now. So while
- 32:44he's climbing up, I'm basically, like, putting my
- 32:47shoulder into him and I'm, like, shoving
- 32:50him forward because I won't have as much
- 32:53resistance as long as I'm directly behind him. Yeah. Rather,
- 32:56I'm shoving him,
- 32:59I can hold.
- 33:00>> Speaker B: Him up in front of me.
- 33:00>> Speaker F: I don't, as long as he's holding on to stuff, he
- 33:03just, I imagine in him, like, moving his hands
- 33:06forward and, like, forming the wall around it to create, like, a
- 33:09wall.
- 33:10>> Speaker B: Yeah.
- 33:11>> Speaker F: He's cramming a rock, climbing walls. And as he's going, I'm
- 33:14basically shoving him up into the next spot so that he
- 33:17can grab further ahead. Nice.
- 33:18>> Speaker B: Nice. I like it. Okay, so, I'm gonna basically
- 33:21consider you prepared because Guo essentially
- 33:24prepared you with the grab
- 33:27holds and so on and so forth. So you get plus one to
- 33:30an appropriate roll. And you can do that after the
- 33:32roll. it also allows you to avoid marking a
- 33:35condition I don't think that's applicable sometimes. That applies to, like,
- 33:38in combat situations.
- 33:40>> Speaker F: So, do I have to roll or.
- 33:41>> Speaker B: Yeah, do a, Let's do a push your luck.
- 33:43>> Speaker F: Push my luck. Okay. nine.
- 33:46>> Speaker B: Nine. Okay. I'm gonna give it to you, but because
- 33:49you're not an earthbender and you can't shape it, I'm gonna say you take a
- 33:51fatigue, in the process of getting to the other
- 33:54side, just because it takes a lot more exertion in the
- 33:57process.
- 33:58>> Speaker F: Okay. Yikes. You're getting up there in fatigues, bud.
- 34:01It's whatever.
- 34:02>> Speaker B: All right. All right. Sounds good. who's next
- 34:05between the last two of you?
- 34:07>> Speaker F: So, what is Guo's in Bill's current
- 34:09situation right now?
- 34:10>> Speaker B: So they've basically gotten up the stairs and everything. They're
- 34:13basically past where the wind is kind of shooting down.
- 34:16>> Speaker F: You just follow us? Yeah. Can I just follow
- 34:19that? Wouldn't it be better searched if I was in front of them because
- 34:22I'm, like, a larger, stronger individual?
- 34:24>> Speaker B: They already made it past. You were punching rocks,
- 34:27and.
- 34:28>> Speaker F: Whoa.
- 34:28>> Speaker B: Was making, rock climbing.
- 34:31>> Speaker F: Yeah. So, like, I might as well do the same thing Guo did.
- 34:33>> Speaker B: All right.
- 34:34>> Speaker F: Does. I mean, Mika, do you just want to, like, yoda
- 34:36this situation and just.
- 34:38>> Speaker B: Like, right on his bed?
- 34:39>> Speaker F: Like, be it? Like, I would imagine if
- 34:42Guo could do it, Brock should be able to do it. Cause
- 34:45he's heavier. Okay. And he's.
- 34:48I would imagine. Okay. Yeah.
- 34:49>> Speaker B: No, I think that fits well with pushing your luck, since you're usually
- 34:52stronger anyways and the sort of pathway
- 34:55has already been made for you. But this is adding one extra
- 34:58challenge that I would say pushes you to that point where
- 35:01it's a little bit less, slightly less likely that you
- 35:04might make it. All right.
- 35:05>> Speaker F: So I'm rolling with push my luck.
- 35:07>> Speaker B: Yes, sir.
- 35:07>> Speaker F: That's with focus.
- 35:08>> Speaker B: Yes, sir.
- 35:09>> Speaker F: Seven.
- 35:10>> Speaker B: Seven. Okay. So I'm going to say the same thing
- 35:13as what Bill went through. So, between Mika on your
- 35:16back and you trying to get, you start to
- 35:19kind of feel a little bit tired by the end of this, the process, and
- 35:22you end up. You do make it to the other side. With Mika
- 35:25barely holding on, I like to think that she was, like, wrapped around
- 35:28your neck and her feet were, like, flying back in the air as she was just
- 35:31holding on for dear life. But, sure enough, you guys make it to the
- 35:34other side safely.
- 35:35>> Speaker F: Sick.
- 35:36>> Speaker B: A little bit tired, though.
- 35:37>> Speaker F: Do I got a mark of fatigue?
- 35:38>> Speaker B: Yes, please. Worth it
- 35:41to be able to Luke Skywalker some. A
- 35:44yoda.
- 35:45>> Speaker F: I wouldn't know how Mika would make it up otherwise. I was
- 35:48just.
- 35:49>> Speaker B: Yeah, that's how did the guru get up?
- 35:52Oh yeah. So he, what he does is he places his
- 35:54hands together he points them ahead of him and
- 35:57then he pulls his
- 36:00palm, palms out ever so slightly to
- 36:03create kind of like this triangle shape. And he just
- 36:06walks right through.
- 36:07>> Speaker F: Why didn't we just ask him to do that in the first place? We just
- 36:10followed him. Oh.
- 36:11>> Speaker B: So the way that the air you can't see it.
- 36:14It's not like in the cartoon where they obviously visualize it so
- 36:17you can see it. But if you could see it the air sort of like
- 36:20goes around him in like a perfect
- 36:23curvature from where he's kind of got this
- 36:26point that he's created. There is some airbending to
- 36:29it obviously of him manipulating the wind to basically
- 36:31go around him.
- 36:33>> Speaker D: He's m like a boat in the water.
- 36:35>> Speaker F: Yeah.
- 36:35>> Speaker B: Ah, like a boat in the water. Which is funny that you say
- 36:38that because as you guys walk into
- 36:41the next room you see
- 36:44instead of a giant cavern that just drops
- 36:47down into darkness or lava instead you
- 36:50see a wide cavern filled with
- 36:53water and you can see in the
- 36:55distance there's an opening. You can kind of see some light of
- 36:58day out on that end and the water seems to kind of
- 37:01drift through but ahead of you
- 37:04oh you can kind of hear like a waterfall or something probably at the end of
- 37:07it where it comes runs out of the mountain. But whatever the case
- 37:10ahead of you across the water which is quite a ways,
- 37:13it's like 100ft of water, you see
- 37:16a an opening for
- 37:18the next door. And this is the final trial.
- 37:21This is something that he points out but he says I'm sure you.
- 37:24>> Speaker C: Can guess that an airbender would have an easy time
- 37:27putting some air in that sail making it across
- 37:30the waters.
- 37:31>> Speaker B: And he points over and there's like a little kind a of boat raft
- 37:34or whatever you want to call it with a little sail on it.
- 37:36>> Speaker C: But none of you are airbenders so that really
- 37:39sucks for you guys. Anyways good
- 37:42luck.
- 37:43>> Speaker D: And something that you noticed, literally use a wave
- 37:46to push us across the lake in the boat.
- 37:49>> Speaker F: Sure.
- 37:49>> Speaker B: You might be able to.
- 37:50>> Speaker F: Yeah. Or could Brock just drop a giant rock behind us and
- 37:53create more waves?
- 37:54>> Speaker E: I just wanted to see again.
- 37:57>> Speaker B: I just make this stuff and then I'm like I don't know whatever they come up
- 38:00with.
- 38:00>> Speaker D: Well I'm just saying to mister, oh.
- 38:02>> Speaker B: You'Re talking to him. Okay so okay play the scene with
- 38:05me.
- 38:06>> Speaker D: Well can't I just like make a giant wave? Just
- 38:10seems easy enough yeah, absolutely.
- 38:12>> Speaker B: Yes.
- 38:12>> Speaker C: I completely forgot. So, remember how
- 38:15when you first arrived and you asked if this place
- 38:18was haunted, and at first I said no, but then
- 38:21I mentioned there was a flesh heating spirit.
- 38:23>> Speaker B: Yes.
- 38:23>> Speaker C: That we'd eventually get around to.
- 38:26>> Speaker D: Yeah, sure.
- 38:27>> Speaker F: Yeah, the ghost.
- 38:28>> Speaker E: Yeah, I definitely slept super well.
- 38:33>> Speaker C: This is where that spirit decides.
- 38:36The spirit takes form of a massive eel named
- 38:39Mole. Cursed to be
- 38:41hungry. To be fair, all
- 38:44of this is simply m.
- 38:49>> Speaker E: Welcome to my world.
- 38:51>> Speaker D: That's where I found my fox pup.
- 38:53>> Speaker B: Oh, he's cursed.
- 38:55>> Speaker C: I hadn't noticed him until just now.
- 38:57>> Speaker D: he's been hiding in my skirt. You know, the wind
- 39:00and cold air and
- 39:03lava is kind of scary for a little dog.
- 39:05>> Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
- 39:07>> Speaker F: How long have you lived here, Mister Guru?
- 39:10>> Speaker C: Many, many years.
- 39:12>> Speaker F: And you have never once seen this
- 39:15legendary eel monster?
- 39:16>> Speaker C: I have always just floated over the water.
- 39:19So, no, I've never seen the alleged
- 39:22eel spirit.
- 39:24M. Well, the interesting thing about
- 39:28eels is they can sense movement within the
- 39:30water. Just part of how they hunt their prey.
- 39:33>> Speaker D: So you're saying don't create a giant
- 39:36wave.
- 39:37>> Speaker F: So, Mister Guru, could
- 39:39you help us with this boat and push the
- 39:42sales?
- 39:43>> Speaker D: He's literally said he cannot help us with the
- 39:45trial. Where are your ears?
- 39:48>> Speaker F: I don't know.
- 39:49>> Speaker C: Your friend is right. I'm not really supposed
- 39:52to help.
- 39:53>> Speaker F: I'm thinking about mud right now.
- 39:55>> Speaker E: You're probably packed full of dirt.
- 39:57>> Speaker F: Probably.
- 39:59>> Speaker E: I mean, he hasn't. What day of the week is it?
- 40:02>> Speaker F: I don't even know, man.
- 40:04>> Speaker B: Your friends.
- 40:08>> Speaker E: It's been a while since his shower.
- 40:10>> Speaker F: Yeah, it's Wednesday.
- 40:13>> Speaker B: If you guys had the funeral on Sunday, then it would
- 40:15be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, about
- 40:18Thursday.
- 40:19>> Speaker F: So even if we get in this
- 40:22boat and don't make waves, the movement of the
- 40:25boat still gonna ripple the water.
- 40:27>> Speaker D: Yeah, but so would his air. Filling the sails,
- 40:29pushing the water.
- 40:31>> Speaker F: But I'm just saying, like, regardless,
- 40:33if this eel guy shows up,
- 40:36you can just punch him.
- 40:38>> Speaker B: I mean.
- 40:38>> Speaker F: Yeah, but like.
- 40:42>> Speaker B: How far do we gotta go? It's like
- 40:45100ft.
- 40:46>> Speaker F: Is there an air filled balloon
- 40:49nearby?
- 40:51>> Speaker B: Good luck getting that balloon all the way up. Through.
- 40:54Up, here? Yeah, through the wind room. M.
- 40:57What about a trebuchet?
- 41:01>> Speaker E: Well, we can't fill the sail
- 41:04with wind, so. Brock, it's
- 41:06obvious. You need to fill it with
- 41:09rocks. Just throw some rocks at the
- 41:12sail.
- 41:13>> Speaker D: Do not do that.
- 41:14>> Speaker E: I want to see him do it.
- 41:16>> Speaker B: I.
- 41:16>> Speaker F: That's a brilliant idea.
- 41:20That's funny.
- 41:22>> Speaker B: What?
- 41:25>> Speaker D: Hey, guys.
- 41:25>> Speaker D: I need. I need to converse with my fellow
- 41:28brethren about, my sad feelings
- 41:30about Mister Okub.
- 41:33>> Speaker F: What are you just
- 41:36saying?
- 41:36>> Speaker D: You need. I need a moment alone. with the guys.
- 41:38>> Speaker F: Just us, mister.
- 41:39>> Speaker C: Oh. Oh, yes, of course.
- 41:42>> Speaker B: He walks. He just goes back to the wind
- 41:44tunnel, I guess. Okay, guys,
- 41:47that was a weird way.
- 41:48>> Speaker F: Of saying, are we kidnapping the guru and forcing him to.
- 41:51Why do you want. Because it's
- 41:53easy.
- 41:55>> Speaker D: This is the third room using his
- 41:58wind powers.
- 41:59>> Speaker F: How do we trick him to do that?
- 42:01>> Speaker D: Air powers.
- 42:02>> Speaker F: He's lazy.
- 42:03>> Speaker D: What if he's not lazy?
- 42:05>> Speaker F: He's only used his power.
- 42:06>> Speaker D: Only asking us. We just need to figure out a.
- 42:09>> Speaker F: Way I could wave my stick
- 42:12really fast.
- 42:15>> Speaker D: He always has a way of saying saving, us.
- 42:18Yeah, yeah. So
- 42:22one of you guys can just use, you know, dumb
- 42:25plans and then.
- 42:26>> Speaker F: Hey Brock. Don't plan, Brock. How you
- 42:29go swimming?
- 42:30>> Speaker D: Do not know.
- 42:32>> Speaker F: But what I can do. I can make catapult. I
- 42:35can make a catapult. I can make it
- 42:37like what I used to launch the hot lead.
- 42:40>> Speaker B: Oh, way to use trial number three to be get
- 42:43through. Trial number five.
- 42:47>> Speaker F: How do you know so much about
- 42:50engineering weaponry? Well, funny
- 42:52thing, he's like sokka.
- 42:55>> Speaker B: I think that like good at fighting. Well,
- 42:58you struggled a little bit.
- 43:00>> Speaker F: I think that was more of a dig at my year in
- 43:02engineering school. Oh, it
- 43:05wasn't but yeah, that's funny. I thought
- 43:08I could have been an engineer. Yeah. you wouldn't want me building your
- 43:11bridges. speaking. Can we build a bridge? Can we just do
- 43:14that? This again. 100ft bridge.
- 43:17Can you do that? You struggled to make a two foot
- 43:20bridge. You struggled to make any.
- 43:24I can make wind with my stick.
- 43:26>> Speaker D: How about I just make little waves in the water and see
- 43:29how much water needs, to affect
- 43:32the eel spoon.
- 43:33>> Speaker F: I could just like skip rocks and do the same thing.
- 43:36I could.
- 43:39>> Speaker D: If I want to water bend the sailboat to
- 43:42get us to the other side. That just seems
- 43:45most easiest. Instead of just like
- 43:47purposefully the water.
- 43:49>> Speaker F: What if we got in the boat and then you did a giant
- 43:52wave to push us across but while we were doing that on
- 43:55the opposite side of the
- 43:58river. Lake. Whatever. we just started dropping a bunch of
- 44:01rocks and so the eel would
- 44:04go over there.
- 44:05>> Speaker D: He doesn't know where to go.
- 44:07>> Speaker F: Yeah, like a dune.
- 44:09>> Speaker D: But what if that backfires and he still comes
- 44:13towards us?
- 44:14>> Speaker E: Guo hops into the boat and starts
- 44:17looking for a hat.
- 44:21>> Speaker B: There's like one of them. One of them will like airbender
- 44:24almost like. I don't want to say yarmulkes. Almost
- 44:27similar. Yeah, kind of a fez.
- 44:30Somewhere between us. It's like a short fez.
- 44:35>> Speaker D: Wait, so are we not gonna try and
- 44:38trick Mister Uru guru?
- 44:40>> Speaker F: Guru? I mean, that could be a plan b. I think
- 44:43we go with my genius plan.
- 44:45>> Speaker B: Which one?
- 44:46>> Speaker F: The kidnapping.
- 44:46>> Speaker D: I'm a hardcore.
- 44:47>> Speaker F: Well, so we can call kidnapping plan plan
- 44:50C. Okay, plan C. Got it. I don't know. what are y'all's
- 44:53thoughts?
- 44:54>> Speaker D: I think I just. Let's just. Waterbend.
- 44:56>> Speaker F: I think glove's got a sick hat on right now.
- 44:59>> Speaker E: I'm sorry. I will only be addressed as captain.
- 45:02>> Speaker F: Glow this again. Huh?
- 45:05>> Speaker E: hey, there's a boat. Every boat needs a
- 45:08captain. And I got the
- 45:10hat.
- 45:11>> Speaker F: He's got the hat. But if the ship goes down, so does. I'm
- 45:14not listening to you, Brock. You're not the captain. Sorry,
- 45:17mister.
- 45:17>> Speaker D: Captain, whose plan do you want to go with?
- 45:19>> Speaker F: Yeah, which plan do you want to go with? Oh, captain. Captain.
- 45:22>> Speaker E: So many options.
- 45:24>> Speaker F: Yeah, a lot of good options. What do you mean?
- 45:26>> Speaker D: Tell you.
- 45:27>> Speaker F: Some are way better.
- 45:28>> Speaker E: So many options.
- 45:29>> Speaker F: The one bad option is the kidnapping. No, that's a great
- 45:32option. You moved it to sea. It's not that
- 45:35good.
- 45:35>> Speaker E: I think Micah just needs to try to push
- 45:38us along with her waves.
- 45:40>> Speaker F: Yeah, and then you guys drop
- 45:43rocks. Works of me.
- 45:45>> Speaker D: M.
- 45:48>> Speaker E: Yeah, if we notice any, I'm.
- 45:50>> Speaker D: Gonna start out with, slow,
- 45:53low waves. And if.
- 45:54>> Speaker E: Mister, we should
- 45:57probably get the guru back in here before we
- 46:00leave.
- 46:03>> Speaker D: I'll go fast. Strong way.
- 46:05>> Speaker B: Okay. I hop in the boat?
- 46:07>> Speaker F: Yeah, sounds good. I'll, hop in the boat, too.
- 46:10>> Speaker E: All, ah, hands on deck.
- 46:12>> Speaker F: Okay, mister Guru.
- 46:14>> Speaker B: And all of a sudden, guru to
- 46:16peek. He peeks around the corner and he just gives you guys,
- 46:19like, a thumbs up. Like, are you guys.
- 46:22>> Speaker D: I'm gonna wipe my eyes a little bit. You know, just
- 46:24really sell the part of, me talking about my feelings.
- 46:29>> Speaker B: And he comes walking out real confident, and he just says,
- 46:32well, I.
- 46:32>> Speaker C: Sure hope you guys don't wake that spirit.
- 46:35I'm pretty sure I don't stand a chance against a
- 46:38spirit monster.
- 46:41>> Speaker F: That's not foreshadowing anything at all,
- 46:44mister Tuppe.
- 46:47I wonder what's going to happen.
- 46:51>> Speaker B: All right, so you guys are all in the boat. All hands are on
- 46:54deck. Captain guo, I assume, takes the.
- 46:57The front.
- 46:59>> Speaker E: Yeah, the bow.
- 47:01>> Speaker B: Mast, whatever it is.
- 47:03>> Speaker F: Bow.
- 47:03>> Speaker B: Bow of the ship. All right. Perfect. And,
- 47:06Mika begins to make some. Some soft,
- 47:09waves.
- 47:10>> Speaker D: Mika, I'm gonna have without the thumb clicking.
- 47:13>> Speaker B: Without the freaky double
- 47:16jointed thumb clicking. Eo.
- 47:17>> Speaker E: Calling thumb click.
- 47:18>> Speaker B: Yes.
- 47:19>> Speaker D: That only happens with my secret
- 47:21mood.
- 47:22>> Speaker B: Secret move. All right, perfect. So, I'm gonna have you do rely on your skills
- 47:25and training, since this is something that you are
- 47:28obviously pretty well adept to, is moving
- 47:30water really.
- 47:34>> Speaker D: Well. I got a five.
- 47:36>> Speaker B: So, what's your good job? Excess
- 47:39at the cost of a fatigue.
- 47:40>> Speaker D: Absolutely.
- 47:42>> Speaker B: Okay. So what we could do is what I.
- 47:45Here's what I'll give you.
- 47:46>> Speaker D: Reroll. Thanks.
- 47:48>> Speaker B: I won't give you a reroll, but I'll make it a
- 47:51soft success by saying that you could take the
- 47:54fatigue and add your balance, add your
- 47:56principal, which is what, right now?
- 47:59>> Speaker D: Survival.
- 47:59>> Speaker B: Survival. Okay.
- 48:00>> Speaker F: Yep.
- 48:00>> Speaker B: That fits. and then, because your friends are all kind of
- 48:03taking position in the boat, and they're kind of maintaining
- 48:06a balance as far as the boat goes,
- 48:09I'll consider that, prepared. everybody
- 48:12is prepared, and so that would be a plus one. That would make it a soft
- 48:15success. So, with a rely on your skills and training,
- 48:18on a seven to nine, you do it imperfectly. Okay,
- 48:22so I hate this.
- 48:25You can accept the consequences, or you can mark the
- 48:28fatigue to, not accept the consequences, but
- 48:31essentially, you're pulling,
- 48:33and maybe the fear is kind of welling up inside of you,
- 48:36kind of the nervousness of the situation, intensity of the
- 48:39possibility. You've seen spirits. You yourself
- 48:42are pretty much one of the only ones in the group.
- 48:45Actually, Guo has seen them. But, aside from Guo,
- 48:48you're the only one that's seen a spirit in real life, and you know
- 48:51how powerful or kind of unexpected
- 48:54they can be. And so you're pretty nervous, pretty scared as you
- 48:57start to pull this water. And that fear causes you to go
- 49:00a little bit more intense than you'd want to, and the waves start
- 49:03to kick up a little bit harder as you move the
- 49:05boat a little faster. But
- 49:08you know that you're kicking up more water than what you'd like
- 49:11to. So you can do that, or you
- 49:13can cut the water,
- 49:16like, just kind of pull away from the whole
- 49:19thing, be like, whoa, it's too
- 49:22much. What direction would you like to go?
- 49:24>> Speaker D: Well, what happens when I get to all, fatigues?
- 49:27Well, I would only be at four. I'm not at five. I just want to
- 49:30know if I want to risk the extra fatigue or not.
- 49:33>> Speaker F: Right.
- 49:33>> Speaker D: Would it be wise?
- 49:34>> Speaker B: Basically, once you have five fatigue, that's
- 49:37fine. But if the game ever
- 49:39tells you that you can either mark fatigue or take something
- 49:42else, you have to take something else,
- 49:45which would be conditions.
- 49:48And then once you filled out all those
- 49:51statuses, then you're knocked
- 49:54out, I guess just stop.
- 49:57Okay. So you stop and the boat comes to
- 50:00a, stop as well. You guys are kind of, let's say you guys got to about maybe
- 50:0325 or so feet and there's no
- 50:05wind, there's no nothing. There's no moving in the water at this
- 50:08point. Once you stop pulling the water,
- 50:11everything is just still. As you guys sit there
- 50:14in the boat, it creaks ever so slightly.
- 50:16As you guys look into sort of the greenish
- 50:19haze, water below you.
- 50:22Nothing has appeared. But you guys are currently
- 50:25amidst the doldrum that is this
- 50:27lake in the middle of a giant cave.
- 50:30>> Speaker F: Are there any paddles on this boat?
- 50:32>> Speaker B: Paddles?
- 50:32>> Speaker F: Yeah.
- 50:33>> Speaker B: I would say yes.
- 50:35>> Speaker F: Okay. I grab a sense. I grab a paddle.
- 50:37>> Speaker B: Okay.
- 50:38>> Speaker F: Yeah, get paddling.
- 50:42Okay.
- 50:42>> Speaker B: Just stick it in the way. If one person paddles, it
- 50:45doesn't do much.
- 50:46>> Speaker D: Nothing. You're just observing the water for no reason.
- 50:49>> Speaker F: I paddle on my side, I'll paddle, I guess. And I run
- 50:52to the other side. And I paddle on that side. Okay.
- 50:55I run back to the other side. Paddle on that side. Well.
- 50:58>> Speaker B: And then Mika picks up a paddle and then she takes over one
- 51:00side.
- 51:06And then you guys start to, Are you slowly
- 51:08paddling or I just paddling.
- 51:10>> Speaker D: Just paddling it up like an average pace.
- 51:12>> Speaker F: Well, they're in the water. Okay. We're not going anywhere.
- 51:15Quick, how far did we make it?
- 51:17>> Speaker B: You guys are about 2020, 5ft.
- 51:20>> Speaker F: And then they really, really good with a stick. The paddle
- 51:23is like a flat stick. Okay. Okay.
- 51:26So I paddle.
- 51:27>> Speaker B: Yeah, you guys start to push forward ever so
- 51:30slightly. It's slow progress for sure. and
- 51:33every time you stick the paddle into the water, are you, are
- 51:35you being cautious is my question. Or just kind of slapping
- 51:39it in.
- 51:39>> Speaker F: There like I'm not racing anyone.
- 51:41>> Speaker B: Dip it into the water
- 51:43slowly. Push.
- 51:45>> Speaker D: We know the gravity of the situation. Yeah, we're not
- 51:48trying to be mainy.
- 51:49>> Speaker B: I just want to double check. Some people are like, yeah, just give.
- 51:52>> Speaker F: Me a dang or, yeah, let's just kidnap him. You know,
- 51:55it's a great idea.
- 51:57>> Speaker B: And over the next probably 1015
- 52:00minutes, you guys finally reach the other
- 52:03side. And waiting there for you is guru Tapik.
- 52:05>> Speaker C: And he says, well, patience, it's a
- 52:08virtue.
- 52:09>> Speaker F: Cool. Hop out.
- 52:13Thanks for the help, bud.
- 52:14>> Speaker C: And virtue needs to reward.
- 52:17>> Speaker F: Hey, Guo, you know, once we leave the ship.
- 52:19>> Speaker E: Oh, go was taking a nap up in the back.
- 52:24Are we there?
- 52:26>> Speaker D: Good work, crew Captain Mike.
- 52:29>> Speaker B: That's one of those power naps. That people say are really good to kind of get
- 52:32you going again. Yes.
- 52:34>> Speaker E: Guo said his, his internal nap
- 52:37clock actually didn't know
- 52:40how long to set it, so he was, he was asleep until we
- 52:43hit the other shore.
- 52:44>> Speaker B: Sure. Do you keep the hat or do.
- 52:46>> Speaker F: You leave the captain Gaude's behind?
- 52:49>> Speaker E: No, I mean, he would, he would keep the cap.
- 52:53>> Speaker D: It's become, you know, one
- 52:56there.
- 52:58>> Speaker B: It's kind of like, like I said, just kind of like a shorter
- 53:02kind of. Yeah. So it's just a shorter version.
- 53:05>> Speaker F: Like what a boo wears Abu ah. And
- 53:07Aladdin.
- 53:12where is like a mini fez on the back of his head.
- 53:14But for him, compared to his head, but compared to his head,
- 53:17it's still like mini.
- 53:19>> Speaker B: Well, so it's like the same width or
- 53:21diameter or whatever. It just, it's just
- 53:24short. and it kind of like, there's
- 53:26a little bit excess, fabric that kind of helps hold
- 53:29it onto your head. I actually always been curious about that. Like, how
- 53:32do they stay, stay on there unless you
- 53:35have, like, little years.
- 53:37>> Speaker F: Of practice, I guess. So.
- 53:38>> Speaker B: It's quite a balancing act. but whatever the case, yeah, you
- 53:41guys are on the other side, and guru tupiq
- 53:44leads you to the final room. And,
- 53:47it's sort of like an ornate door, kind of like you see in avatar, the last
- 53:50airbender, where, you know, he has to, like,
- 53:53blow into, you know, airbend into some of the, like
- 53:55different, like, tubes and stuff. And then once he is able
- 53:58to get all the tubes and the air is running through,
- 54:01the door starts to open. And as it
- 54:04does, you guys look inside this
- 54:06room and it's a big, wide
- 54:09open chamber. There's some pedestals that kind of stick
- 54:12out from the ground. On each of the pedestals, there's
- 54:15different items, most of which are, relics of
- 54:18the Air nation and the air nomads that, you know,
- 54:21special items. leaning against one of them is one of those air
- 54:24gliders. There's some other obscure items,
- 54:27and in the center, around
- 54:30the middle pedestal
- 54:33is Madame Yang,
- 54:36or Hotly Fool's employee.
- 54:38>> Speaker D: And this is where episode four ends.
- 54:49>> Speaker A: Hey, everyone. Skylar, the game master for benders and
- 54:52brews and the creative director over at session Zero Heroes
- 54:55here.
