She took care of me and my family at my father's wake and my mother's wake and even before that for various family addings and her food's amazing and she's a great person. So give her a chance, man. Give her a shout if you need some catering done. Carly is definitely the person you need to call. Herbie: Carly's cool and Uncle Len's cool too, man. Shamus: Yeah. All our sponsors are cool, man. 'Cause we wouldn't put out there if they weren't cool, man. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: So what's going on, dude? You picked a hell of a week to be off of work. Herbie: Yeah. Especially with that freaking what was it, that that standoff with the guy with the Winnebago and frickin' Lumberdon? Shamus: All four of our listeners out there who don't know or haven't heard, there was this huge police standoff with a dude who locked himself in an RV in the parking lot of the Lumberton Walmart. Now the only reason I know this is because that is the only place on the planet that carries the forty-eight count whisker lickens like that gel shit in a tube for cats. Yeah. And they have the forty-eight count. So the forty-eight count comes with the beef liver ones. Yeah. And if I don't come in with that, the cats is get the fuck out. We unless it got the beef liver stuff in it. We don't want it. Yeah. So I was gonna shoot up there yesterday, but come to find out there was a five mile radius you couldn't get in there because the state police was there, the Browning County Prosecutor's Office, Lumberton police, like everybody but me and Herbie were there trying to get this guy out of the R V. And then come to find out, the reason why he was I guess n well, apparently there was some dispute with him and another person in the parking lot, some kind of theft thing. I don't know if he was robbed or if he stole something from somebody or whatever. But they were cautious about going in, not because he had a bomb, but apparently the dude was armed with various weapons to include a flamethrower. Herbie: That is definitely a Herbie thing, man. Shamus: First of all, who the I carry when when I travel long distance I carry a side you know, sidearm, a handgun with me or whatever, but like who carries a plate? Herbie: Dude, how cool would that be to have a flamethrower too though, man? Because you can have a bonfire and stuff like that, dude. my God. Shamus: I I just don't understand in this day and age that you're riding around with a flamethrower. So it's b like I guess it's gotta be a vintage or like see ma because people make all kinds of stuff. Like you see them videos where a guy's got like a huge wasp nest up in a tree and he was like, yeah, not today. And like you see this big flamethrower, they just torch the whole tree. But you gotta be a pretty angry person to threaten yeah law enforcement with flamethrowers. I don't know what happened, but that dude was pissed about something. Herbie: I was like, Shamus: Your hospital. Herbie: probably. But you know, I was just like, my God, I wish you know I was there. I'd be like, ask him like, dude, where did you get the flamethrower? All the cookies you want. Yes, exactly, man. I'm like, my god, man, I want a flamethrower. Shamus: But yeah, I I could definitely see why it took so long because like when SWAT showed up and being, you know, in the military and you know, they teach how to, you know, clear houses and, you know, break through doors and all that stuff like that. the low man stuff we like I'm like, Hey McKnight, you're gonna be a point on this. And I'm like, There's no way. This guy's got a flamethrower. As soon as I come through, dude, I'm toast. Like literally. Yeah. So I can see why it took them so long. They went through the side, like I did see the final pictures of it. They cut like a huge ass hole in the side of the R V and I guess went in that way. Herbie: Do that. Shamus: But thank God nobody was hurt. Yeah. I guess they him in the costume. Like I said, it yeah when I was watching it, I was thinking to myself, and they're like, various weapons and a flamethrower and I was like, my god, that better not be Herbie. But I talked to you, so I knew it was you. But then I thought to myself, my god, he's probably going to the Herbie like the hospital Herbie works at. And who better to talk to about weapons and weird shit like that than that dude. And you you missed your chance, man. Herbie: Be besties. We could be like Facebook buddies, bruh. Like dude's got his paper pajamas on I'm like giving like slide him extra chocolate chip cookies and shit to be like where'd you get the flamethrower brobie wants one even if it's like like and not only that too man like normally when you see like a a situation like that like the cops probably walked up to like he's got a gun and like like how did he come out with the flamethrower? Because like you know of course you'll be able to see the difference between a gun and a flamethrower. Did he like come out of the RV and just have the goddamn tank strapped to his back Shamus: That whole situation was just Herbie: I mean how queer be though, man. You're like a Walmart, you know, you're putting your groceries away and stuff and you see some dude in the back in a Winnebago and it looked like the damn Winnebago from Space Balls. So it's just like it just comes out and it's Uncle Larry out there with a frickin' flamethrower. Shamus: Well, first of all, it was weird because when I first heard about it, because all they talk there was a hostage situation at the Walmart Lumberton and I was just kinda like, What? Why? I was like, okay, somebody got pissed off Walmart and wigged out like there's so many things because if you that Lumberton Walmart's no different than any other Walmart, man. So those people are probably like, I don't give a fuck you got a gun, man. Yeah, I'm you know, wal people at Walmart are just people of Walmart. Herbie: Yeah, and the guy's from Florida too, so it's not like he's a local guy. Shamus: So then when I found out he locked himself into an R V in the parking lot, I'm like Wha what it what the fuck is what is going on? Yeah. Like if you're in your just p if you're pissed off about something, just drive away. Yeah. Like whatever. Herbie: I mean he was like loaded so I guess he was going like I guess from Florida, maybe he was going somewhere else too or something. I don't think he really wanted to say, you know what, babe, let's pack up the Winnebago and go to Mount Holly in New Jersey. They're not gonna do that. Shamus: Let's get in a standoff with New Jersey's finest. Herbie: It's not a travel destination. Shamus: That way the kids have something to talk about when they go back to school. Herbie: Uncle Billy had a flamethrower. Shamus: But yeah, that whole situ I would love to know and like I said, I I got a couple friends on the floor still that might know a little bit how what happened and I might, you know, you wait a week for the smoke to clear and be like, yo, what the because like I said, at first I thought he was in the store, then he was outside the store in his R V. Yeah. And then he had a flamethrower and I was like, and then they they cut the side of it open. I that was a nice R V too, man. That was an easy like a hundred thousand dollar R V they cut the side of it. I don't Herbie: what happened. I guess he snapped or something, but even even if he wasn't the guy that did like whatever they're saying about the reports, because everything's like, you know, kind of shaky with the reports and stuff, the information. Either he did this robbery or someone robbed him and he got all pissed off and he had, you know, the flamethrower in tow. Shamus: Yeah, I guess. Herbie: Whip that hush puppy out. Shamus: But according to the news today, like I guess some of his family members live in the area and they were here and they were saying, you know, he did go and like they did take him into cussy, was transported to the hospital. Everybody in the area is safe. Yeah. and nobody was hurt. So that's all that really matters. But man, that was a mask. And my cat immediately when he saw it, he was like, Now get your fat ass up and go get the beef lip shit. Big shout out to all those people involved in that operation and That's like I said, nobody got hurt, so it was a good day. Herbie: Today was a good day too though, man, 'cause like you know, we got to, you know, go out and enjoy this weather. Got a nice breakfast at the Evergreen, which was very cool. Shamus: Yeah, we got to it was so nice this morning. We got to eat outside. Yeah. That place was mob scene, dude. Like I was like and I I mentioned this before the one time I was standing in line at Shopwright, like on a Tuesday morning at like ten o'clock. Yeah. It was packed. Yeah. And I was like, does anybody in this town work? They're Herbie: No yeah, don't Shamus: like, no, you're probably the youngest dude here by like ten years, bro. Like this Medford's like old people retirement. That's why it's the best town in South Jersey. There's no crime here and shit because everybody's Herbie: Old Shamus: Yeah. And rich. So so when I pulled up the Evergreen, I I beat you there, I pull up the Evergreens. I was man, they must be giving away free pancakes or some shit. Like it and when you looked at the crowd though, it was old elderly people. Yeah. Which is fine. I'm cool with the elderly. Herbie: Free blood pressure screening. Shamus: But like we couldn't even like there was a wait for the inside, but their guy was like, You want to sit outside? I was yeah, man, it's nice out. Yeah. So and the food was great. Yeah. I can't complain. You picked up the tab, so I'm sure pricing was pretty decent, right? Yeah. Yes. So yeah. Shout out to the evergreens again. Yeah, man. If you get a chance, go check out for breakfast and lunch. And if you can't make it for that, swing by at night, pick up some ice cream, man. Yeah. They had the apple c I was so mad they had that they had They had the apple crisp thing, but then they said they found like extra the next day. really? Yeah, and they only had like a limit at like fifty more and I was like, my god Still didn't make it. Herbie: The Evergreen. Yeah, and we got like you picked up we went to Best Buy. I haven't been at Best Buy in like forever too. Shamus: The Best Buy trip. Yeah. The reason why we didn't put an episode out on what do we usually do on Monday and Friday or Monday and Thursday, right? Yeah. And I'm gonna apologize. It was my fault. I've been having some technical difficulties with my PC, my computer, my laptop, and it finally just looked at me the other day and was just like and gave me the finger and died. So we had to go to Best Buy, I had to pick up my new laptop. Yep. And of course Herbie: Greeted by Tiger Woods. Shamus: There's some kid at the front who thought he was this amazing golfer. Yeah. what had happened this morning was I accidentally not hit like I hit the buy now button and then for some reason they're doing work up on seventy, like we passed it. They're one of the trees fell, like in Medford every time the wind blows a certain way. If a fucking bird farts in a tree the wrong way, like one of these branches comes down and it's down. So my Wi Fi went out for like five minutes. So I hit by now is the Wi-Fi guest went out and my phone just kinda like didn't respond and didn't do anything. So I was like, shit. So I didn't get a confirmation email or anything. So I was like, all right, let me do it again. I ended up buying two. Yeah. So when we got in there, the dude was like, first I didn't know where pickup was. And I guess you can do it right at the registers now. There's no customer pickup or whatever. And I tried to explain to them what happened. So he was like, hold on a second. So he walks in the back and he was just like, you bought two of these. And I was like, That's what I was saying, Spiff. Yeah. I was like, I bought two, but I only need to buy. Why would I buy two of the same laptop? Yeah. This is what happened, da da da. And he's looking at me and he was just like, So you're trying to bring one back that you bought online that you didn't pay for yet? And I was just kinda like Thank God this this other lady came over and she was sprightly and you know. Yeah. She was just like, I understand what you're trying to say, sir. You accidentally something in the house where went off, you thought da da da and she explained e exactly the way I explained it and that way, yes. And she looked at him and she was just like, Okay, he just wants to negate the pickup. Yeah. So he was like, Okay, can I get your name? And she's like, You don't have to do that. All you gotta do is scan the computer that he doesn't want. Yeah. And his pickup information will come up and you just hit no. He declined to pick up and da da da and he was just like, Okay. he was one of those Herbie: Okay. Shamus: guys that is too cool for school. He works at Best Buy and you know, any single chick that walks in the door his age, he's gonna be like, hey, and granted, I was there when I was a kid. yeah. Like we've all done it, but I was just like, look at disc. Herbie: I wasn't sure what the hell he was doing, like where he was doing like that phantom golf swig in there and stuff. As soon as he walked in, I was like, Is he doing a presentation? What the hell is he doing? Shamus: Well, nobody knows how to be professional anymore either. So you're wearing the Best Buy thing, man. Look to part, act apart, be the part. Herbie: Well at least at least now he knows, you know. But then after that Shamus: Well, like I I turned around and like when he walked away, I thanked the the lady at the front. she was you know yep way younger than I was. but I was just like hey thanks for helping him out and helping me out. She was like, Yeah. So we went to Best Buy, picked up a new laptop. Yeah. Then we hit for the first time for me in like 15 years. yeah. we hit a record store, man. And man, do I miss that. Yeah. What I didn't realize was, and for some of you listeners, Who've ever been to Toons? It wasn't always in Voorhees. It used to be up on seventy-three in Marlton, right where the new Texas Roadhouse is and the Old Foods. Herbie: Used to be the old Marlton eight right next to the Marleton eight. Shamus: And me and my buddy Raj, when I first started with the state, I used have the worst days on the planet off Tuesday and Wednesday. And and he if he was laid off from the union, every Tuesday we'd go get lunch and we'd go up to Toons and then right next door was Head Games, which was like a video game, a retro video game thing. I also had movies and D V or C Ds. And we I I built this gigantic C D collection because records back then weren't and now that they're coming back it's but anyway I found out the tunes had moved and I didn't realize this up until about a year ago and we finally hit it today. Yeah. And as soon as I walked in I was like, I'm not prepared for this. I'm not ready. Herbie: There was so much stuff too, dude. Dude. And it's not like a super big store. So it's not like a big chain store. It's just like a little, little tiny store. Shamus: No, but there's for their space, they've got so much stuff in there. It's unbelievable. And Herbie: Definitely. Shamus: just like that little puppy when his dad comes home and stuff, I was dude, I was jumping around, my tail was wagging. I was for every album I went to look for, as I'm scrolling through albums, six or seven more just going through your head, and then you start to lose track of each one you want. And I was just kind of like I I thought my brain was gonna start oozing out of my ears, dude. my god, this is insane. And then you start thinking to yourself, okay, what do I have at home? What do I already like 'cause it's been so long since I looked at any of that stuff because everything's digital now. yeah. That I'm gonna probably make an effort once we get video rolling on all this stuff and we're well from I'm probably gonna go look at my collection, start writing stuff down. And I'm probably gonna start doing that at least once a week. it's like I said, it's such a great feeling to go in over it's a weird, weird like you can't explain it. You just walk in and you're just like, my God, this is amazing. Herbie: It's like going into a cool library or something, you know what mean? Shamus: Yeah. What did you end up picking? I I saw you grab some D V D Did you end up looking at any movies or or music or anything? Herbie: looking at movies, looking at yeah, I was looking at music, I was looking at like look old school like R and B and stuff like that. I was just like looking at a lot of that record album covers because that that's another thing I love about like when I was a kid looking at the vinyls was the album covers themselves. You know what mean? It's cool to see. Shamus: Well that's what I like. That's what I like about record stores. They have them record frames now you can buy for like five bucks. And every record store does this. They throw them up on the wall, like all these different album covers and stuff and you're just like, man, that is so cool. Herbie: Yeah, dude, they have Michael Jackson off the wall, that stones in there. it was cool, man. Ray Charles. I saw a lot of Ray Charles in there too, which was cool. Shamus: Yeah. Another thing that really it it doesn't freak me out, but like when you see like the hybrid theory by Lincoln Park. Yeah. You know, those were printed like those came out when they weren't even printing records anymore. So now they're starting to print all the stuff that Herbie: Right. It is weird seeing like the new like the new error people like Shamus: Yeah, like you see like p I I saw a post Malone in there and I was like, wow man, that's crazy. Herbie: I guess they probably do it like split probably for DJs and stuff too, 'cause like when they do that for vinyls for you know, just like DJ and mixing and all that stuff. Shamus: Like even all that went digital though. If you watch some of those guys I watch everyone, cause there's one guy, yeah, because he'll mix like Cypress Hill and Aretha Franklin. And it sounds amazing. Yeah. But like a lot of that stuff's digital. But a lot of the DJs are actually going back to a lot of the vinyl stuff. with that, with them printing like all these new albums that weren't out when vinyl was being printed, they're also Like I was looking here's a prime example. I was looking through the Iron Maid section. Right. And every one they had in that section was wrapped and it was brand it was like brand new, you know, reissued and d and I was like, That's great. But it's not retro vi because it's all been remastered. Yeah. All that stuff. I I want the stuff you hear like the you hear the mistakes in the studio. You hear So It's a weird cause they didn't have that fifteen years ago. When you went into Tunes, there was no reissues or any of that stuff. It was just records. It was used records all. So now I'm starting to realize you gotta start watching what you're buying. if it says new on it, I I just keep passing. So I'm looking for vintage stuff. Herbie: Yeah, 'cause you're getting like the same so for me, like is you're not getting the same sound quality and like all the extra added bits 'cause even if you hear the dudes talking in the background or whatever, it's just I don't know, man. I it's I guess it's it's for us, you know, to go down trip memory lane. But it's just freaking cool, man. 'Cause like when these the people remaster everything, it's just a very clean version of it. I mean it sounds better, but it's not really like The original version. You know? Yeah. So I guess it it loses some something with that. It's just like Shamus: And of course every record store I'm sorry, go ahead. No get me. Every record store's got some vibe music going on in there and so I I can't have a record store and not have some good tunes playing. Herbie: And you're right too, man. There was like a bunch of different people in there, so it was cool. It's just everyone's just enjoying music, man. And movies. Shamus: Yeah, yeah, it was it was a weird group of people when we were in there 'cause I at one point I looked up and there was like an elderly black lady. Yeah. There was some bodybuilder dude. Yeah. There was me and you. There was some chick who looked like somebody's grand like that heavy set lady came in with the long hair and I was just like Yeah, Herbie: Mimo Shamus: yeah, exactly. She looked like a meme all. And then there was a hipster dude with like the what was it, the von Zant hat or whatever the hell they used to be called, the trucker hats and shit. So I I was just kinda like, man, that's the power of music. Like all of us and like the the one guy who walked in before us was a a guy our age, like a a black dude and stuff. And I'm not the only reason I'm mentioning raciness is because that's the power of music. All of us who come from different backgrounds are in that store scouring the shelves for what we love and what and some of us are in the same section. Yeah. So and that's why I love music and record stores, man, because you can have like the village people of of customers in there and everybody gets along and they're just there to vibe. Yep. Herbie: That's it. Shamus: Yeah, man. So I'm gonna get back into it a little bit, dude. I'm I'm gonna start like I said, after we get the video and all that stuff, I'm gonna start making a list as some great albums and stuff and start going that route. I also gotta pull out my DVDs. I think I'm I told my buddy I was gonna give to him, but some of I'm gonna keep like there's some movies you just can't get rid of. yeah. But Herbie: It's good to have that collection 'cause even like you said before, like what Sony and all them, like with the video games now, it's like you don't even own a physical copy of it. Shamus: Yep. And the minute they want to get rid of it, they can just Herbie: Come on. Shamus: Yep. And that's what that's what before it was Apple Music, it was the iTunes. Like you could buy like all the stuff I bought from iTunes, I kept putting like back in the day before it was Apple Music, it was you could take a D V or a C D, you bought, load it in your computer, and it would put it in your iTunes library. Yeah. And as soon as they went to Apple Music, they're like, nah, and they just erased everybody. If you didn't pay for it. They just got rid of it. And I was like That's great. So all those people who digitally downloaded their stuff and then sold their shit to Tunes and stuff was like, What the f like how Herbie: All that to go through a collection like that, man. 'Cause imagine even if your hard drive crashes, imagine like if you have all like thousands and thousands of songs on there and then your hard drive crashes and you lose it all. Shamus: Yep. Herbie: It's like, Jesus Christ, man. Even remember back in the day when you actually what was it? Like when you like use your MasterCard or something like that, they give you like that carbon copy. Yeah, the swipe. Shamus: Take the Herbie: Yeah. And you have like the little carbon copy thing. At least you had like physical proof. Cause even receipts now, man. I think the receipts are made out of freaking invisible ink. Because I swear to God, dude, like a day or two later, you look at that receipt and that ink is gone. It's just a Shamus: Yeah. Herbie: crap piece of paper with no receipt. Shamus: Yeah, yeah, it's just it's just kind of I don't know, like I said, I'm gonna get back into it little bit. start buying some stuff. do you know about any other record stores around I there's one in Mount Holly, right? Herbie: Yeah, that's what I heard about. I haven't been that one. Probably drove by like a million times and stuff. Shit, really? Shamus: It's called called Mount Holly Records. yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna start hitting tunes up. There's a couple more in this area too. I think docks and Hatton Heights, the record museum in West Berlin. There's also I think it's this Sun is it this Sunday? Let me look. It's this Sunday. It's called the Record Riot. It's at the Burlington Masonic Lodge number thirty two in Burlington, New Jersey, this Sunday. It's basically Like they have all these vendors. It's like a flea market for just records. Record CDs and DVDs and stuff. I'm gonna go check it out, man. See if I can get me some deals. general mission get you in at ten AM for five bucks, and an early admission gets you in at nine AM for fifteen, and you get your tickets at eventbright.com. But I'm sure I'm sure you probably buy at the door too. Yeah. But yeah, I'm gonna go check it out because Another weird dynamic today was if it was a brand new album, like records are like forty bucks, man. Yeah. Like the post Malone I was looking at, I was like, Wow, that's crazy. And like even somebody used once, I guess if they're rare. yeah. Because I bought Kiss Crazy Nights. Yeah. And that was thirty bucks. And I was like, but it wasn't reprinted or anything. It was actually from eighty seven. Yeah. So I was just kinda like, man. But yeah, I was I was all over that place. And I thought to myself I gotta get out of here. I'm spending way too much money. My head's gonna explode. I'm too excited. And I think I just kinda peed my pants a little bit. So Herbie: It was a good thing too, because like those stores like that, they have a lot of stuff that either is old that that really people don't make anymore. It's hard to find. So when you got like a physical copy of something that you get because you can't really you know, there's certain titles and stuff you can't pull up on Amazon and all that it's gone. Maybe eBay, if you're lucky for like either music or D C Ds and But some of these local places, man, they just They have some they have some bangers just hidden away in there, man. And it's all in alphabetical order too. So to be able to check out that store is like it's very easy to run through it. Shamus: Well that and if you buy something on eBay, you know, you don't know like I have to in order to buy a record, like yeah, I I pull it out, take a look, or a C D make sh scratches and stuff like that. so yeah, going to a record store is so much Yeah. So much better. Herbie: Brings back the old times too, man, 'cause that's what we used to do when we were kids anyway, going on the mall and stuff anyway. Shamus: yeah, man, it was like Sam Goody. good. what was the other F and E? Yeah, Herbie: Yeah, F F Y E I believe. Shamus: F Y E. there used to be a place in Wonboro when I was growing up, Strawberries. That was like a locally, like some guy owned it. There was actually one in Riverside too. A guy had a small record store like on Main Street. Really? Right across from St. Pete's Church. That we used to go into. I think I told this story in like one of the first episodes of the pod. Yeah. Where that's where I had this huge crush on my buddy's mom when we were in St. Pete's And that's where I got the Rod Stewart poster for her because she loved Rod Stewart. yeah, I used to go in there every day, like every Friday I would save my lunch money. I wouldn't eat at school. Yeah. I would save my lunch money and every Friday I'd walk out of school, walk across the parking lot, across Bridgeboro Street, right to the record store and buy You know, whatever I was looking for that week, whether it was, you know, like Kiss, Maiden, Ozzy. I started listening to Rod Stewart because of my buddy's mom and huge fan to this day. Love me some Rod. Yeah. but yeah, I I see that's what I'm talking about. Like I was so yeah, scattered brained it, I didn't even think to look at the Rod Stewart out there. Herbie: Man, 'cause like there's so much to look at. Even when we do these podcasts and stuff, right with for the listeners too, like if you guys have any more like suggestions or other albums that you like about let us know. Because we you know, we do this on a first take and we only can, you know, mention so much at a at a certain amount of time. And then you're like, shit, yeah, Rod we could have got some Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, anything like some old stuff like that man be freaking cool. Shamus: there was there's I mean there's some staples you just have to have like epic albums. like I I was looking for because I don't have I don't know if I have it or not. I'm glad I because it was like seventy-five dollars because it was vintage. It was from I think eighty, eighty one when it came out, but Fleetwood Mac rumors. Yeah. And I was just kind of like, man, do I have this? I think I have it. if I don't have it, I'm definitely running back and buying it. I'll pay the fifty, seventy dollars, whatever charging for. But yeah, there's always certain albums that I go and look for. And like I'll hold off. I won't buy like a a remastered or like just released this year, all that kind of shit. Or like the like I said with the Taylor Swift thing. Like now they're making vinyl different colors and limited edition. And I I'm not doing all that. I actually saw the Goonies. right soundtrack, but it wasn't in a sleeve and it was like a picture disc on the top or something. And I was kinda like, Yeah, but I want like the original. Yeah. But I did find Cindy Lauper, she's so unusual. Yeah. I don't even know. Where the hell is that? Stay here. Hold on a second. Herbie: Wha what yeah, what tell the audience what you picked up. I know you got like the teacher sound Okay. I know you got like you got like the teacher soundtrack or something like that, but I got my like my D V D so I got like what is it Smoking the Bandit The Adventures of Baron Munchausen I picked up, Ben Hur I picked up, and Anselhart with Robert De Niro and Mickey Rourke. And they were like, you know It's ac it's Shamus: Yeah. Herbie: actually it's actually a pretty good movie. You're like what the when you first watch, you're like, what the fuck is going on? Shamus: All right, this is what I picked up DVD or C D wise. I picked up the very best and beyond of Foreigner. Like Herbie: nice. Shamus: I said, I picked up Kiss Crazy Nights, the vinyl album. Cindy Lopper, she's so unusual. Yeah. That was six bucks. Crazy Nights was thirty. That was ridiculous. Now the reason I bought soundtracks. For movies is because for some reason on Apple Music, they you can't there's certain soundtracks you just can't get. And if you the soundtrack is there, certain songs aren't licensed. So, like you said, I bought the teacher soundtrack, which is that movie from like 83 or 84 with Nick Nolte, Morgan Freeman's first movie, Ralph Macchio's in it. Like there's a lot of people in this. Yeah. And on the album, it's great too. So there's a fire song called I Can't Stop the Fire by Eric Morton and Friends. It was like a super group. You can't find that on Apple Music, so I had to buy that. Of course, I bought the Smoky and the Bandit 2 soundtrack. Herbie: yeah. Shamus: And that's because of Don Williams. Don Williams has a lot of stuff on here. And of course, Bert Reynolds has a song on there. So love me some berth. Now this is a staple. Yeah. The original movie soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever. Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: This is original from 70, whatever, 77? Herbie: Dude, how great is that, man? Shamus: And it was only fifteen bucks. Score. And then of course, probably the movie soundtrack of all time, because I don't I know I don't have this. It was in its original. It's Footloose. Herbie: Yep. Shamus: The original soundtrack of the Paramount Motion Picture Foot Loose. It was five bucks. You can't beat that close. Herbie: Shhh bro, you can't beat that man. Like that is like you almost you you feel like you won, you know? Shamus: Yeah, yeah, it's like I said. And that's why I told myself when I looked at it, I was like, Man, I gotta get out of here 'cause we might not be able to pay the mortgage next week if we stay in here another twenty minutes. Cause like I said, I love music, man, and and like I said, some of these albums are just iconic. Herbie: And I I'll tell you one thing too, man, the people actually looking for those certain types of songs and stuff, they're not gonna be able to download it because it's it's not on there. Shamus: Yeah, I mean Me and my buddy talk about the the over the top soundtrack, which is a great soundtrack too. B movie. It's an episode coming up down the road. that song Winter Takes It All by Sammy Hagar. Yeah. Can't find that anywhere, dude. Nah. It's on his Red Rocker Greatest Hits. Uh-huh. And I have that somewhere here on CD. But if I can get the over the top vinyl, I'm definitely getting it. Herbie: Especially movie soundtrack, man. Come on now. Shamus: no doubt. So but yeah, it's like I said, man, there's so many albums out there I need to go get. and I'm gonna start We're on the men, slowly but surely. I kinda need another hobby besides this. yeah. So Herbie: Like I think like before I've I've I've scored like, you know, vintage like movies and CDs and stuff at like, you know, like Monster Mania and ones like, you know, the horror cons like that because they'll have vendors that actually will sell like, you know, vintage old horror movies that you can't get on DVD. Shamus: Well that was the first thing when I walked in I looked to the left and it said super rare DVDs. Yeah. And I just looked and I was like, I'll leave that for you, brother. Yeah. Like I just walked right by because I was like, I'll be there forever. Yeah. Yeah. Cause I know you love some class what's it, B movies? Herbie: yeah, I watch B movies, all the goddamn I watched the goddamn Christie McNichol movie yesterday called Little Darlings. It's it's it's just like a a a camping movie and Matt Dillon's in it. It's like eighty-two, eighty-three, something like that. Shamus: You know what I thought was cool too? They had a section where it was just like soundtracks. Yeah. But next to it, they also had like seasonal, which meant like Halloween and stuff like that. they had the whole Burrow Ives, like the claymation, Rudolph the Red Nose reindeer, and all that stuff there. And I was just like, my God, I'm a kid again. Because my mom had all that stuff. Herbie: Yeah, it was very well organized, man. Everything was in alphabetical order. Shamus: They had the it was all instrumental. Yeah. But it was the Peanuts greatest hits. Like doo doo doo doo doo. Like they had the whole album there. But that shit was like $125. I was Herbie: I can imagine dude. Shamus: like, man. Herbie: Dude, if we go there again we gotta find like if they have the snowman on on vinyl. Just like that single, that song. With Shamus: It's like I said, this is shit we need to write down. Yeah. So but yeah. Herbie: We could do an episode on the snowman just all alone by itself, man. That's Shamus: yeah. Leading up to that party. Herbie: Yeah, if you guys ever get a chance, man, like check out that store and it's it's like I said, it's everything's in alphabetical order so it's very easy for you to go through it. And you know, I I did like, you know, the old man dad thing where if there was one that was kind of upside down or something I fixed it so for the next person that was scrolling through everything like I was wouldn't have any problems. But Shamus: it cracked me up because I originally like I immediately went into old tunes mode. Yeah. Like as soon as I walked in, I went to the Kiss area. I went to Iron Maiden. Then I checked out Ace for like Freely's Comet stuff. And then it went into this spiral of 80s hair metal. Yeah. But then it spins off into old school country. Yep. That's why I couldn't find Don Williams. So I bought the Smoky the Bandit soundtrack because he's on that. yeah, there was a and then I was just like, my god, movie soundtracks and I was just like, All right, check this out today. And but I that's what I used to do with the old tunes, man. Just kiss Iron Maiden, Furies Comet, and Docking and just start all the Herbie: sections were marked out. Man, even like a little kid, like even in the toy section, you know which area to go to for your Star Wars and G.I. Joe and Thundercat stuff, dude. Everything else is like a Shamus: The only thing I didn't like was they had like jazz and you know, the blues had a section. Yeah. Like pop and rock, but they didn't have she told me it was mixed in with the rock and pop. If I'd have known that I looked. Yeah. they didn't have like a country section, like for vinyl. Like old school like Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Hank, she said it was mixed in with the rock and pop stuff. And I was just like, well now I know next time. 'Cause that's why towards the end you saw me looking at and I was in the W section, I was looking for Dom Williams. Herbie: Well I guess that's probably well it makes sense, coming like the store's only so big and like they said they they had so many different categories and everything was in alphabetical order and they had plenty of stuff there. So like you know, a music lover or a movie lover, you can actually you could spend some time in that place, man. It's like a library. You just literally just take Yeah, my neck was starting Shamus: we just spent all day in there. Herbie: to kill me 'cause I like on that one position, like, you know, like when you're a little kid going through the Dewey Decimal system in the library, through the card catalog, you're like, Jesus Christ, and I was getting that crick in my neck. Shamus: And then I looked at there were some albums in there, dude. There was this boy, I don't know. I was just gonna buy it. But I was like, I'll get it next time. There was some ridiculous when you're going through, you see some ridiculous shit. I forget the guy's name, but the name of the album was My Hair is Fried. died and the music is fly or something like that. It was like early 80s, like breaking type of you know rap. and the album cover was just ridiculous, bro. it was him with no shirt on, with this big ass rope chain and his hair was all fucked up. And I was like, I should buy that just hang that on my wall, bro. Herbie: Yeah, dude, 'cause the album covers are just like they're they're just they're great themselves too, man. Shamus: no doubt. No doubt. I ventured into the Slayer section and you know, and then you know, Megadeth, like Peace they had P Sells Who's Buying, yeah. One of the greatest album covers of all time, but it was re it's like new. Yeah. And I was like, they Herbie: Son of a Shamus: also had Sympathy of Destroy like a lot everything Iron Maiden Slayer and Megadeth was like new. Herbie: They have anthrax in too. I didn't get a chance to Shamus: I didn't see Answer X. a lot of the AC DC stuff they had was new too. Yeah. high voltage wasn't, but I mean that wasn't a their best album. But but I was like, man, a lot of these album covers are just I mean, just cool to look at. Fuck the music part of it. Like Herbie: You know, even back in the day those were like if you play them album backwards, it's they're saying Hail Shaytan Jesus Christ. Shamus: Yeah. Herbie: Even like AC DC was like, What does that stand for? I forget what the hell they said. It like they tried to Yeah, Shamus: After Christ Devil comes. Herbie: I was like, What the hell? They're like, No, dude, that's not what it means. It's like you've been to a frick. Shamus: they used to do that shit all the like kiss was knights in Satan's service. Yeah. Or kids in Satan's service. And if you but it's just like anything else. Like even now. Like people take something and just talk Yeah. I used to get in arguments all the time. I actually they used to have tag day at school. You can pay fifty I went to Catholic school. Right. You pay fifty cents and you could wear like dress down you'd have to wear your uniform. Right. and the one time I wore it was a hand me down for my cousin. 'Cause I wasn't a big Black Sabbath fan then when I was a kid. Yeah. I think it was like eight. but it was one where Ronnie James Theo was in the band. It was like their eighty five tour or something like that. And I wore that in because it was a music shirt, man. It was cool. It was edgy and shit. So I wore that and like they called me down to the office and you know, they worshiped the devil and and I was just kinda like Have you heard any of their mus like 'cause my buddy also was sitting next to me, this guy Walt, and he was wearing a Kiss shirt. And they're like, that's nights and saint service. And we were both like, have you ever, because I'm a huge kids fan. Yeah. Have you ever listened to any of their all they sing about is chicks and partying. Yeah. I mean, I didn't want to say getting laid because I at eight years old I didn't know what that meant. And I'm sure they wouldn't really I'm sure the nuns wouldn't appreciate that. But I'm like, dude, these guys talk about girls and partying all the time. Like, name a I mean, God of Thunder might be, or Heaven's on Fire. But I mean, other than that, name a song where they're talking about, you know. Sacrifice the neighbor's cat and drink the blood. You know Herbie: Getting ready to do an exorcism on the power of Christ compels you. The power of Christ. Shamus: I was like now I knew about Black Sabbath with Ozzy in the early years 'cause my uncle I didn't know shit about a Ronnie James Dio. Yeah. But do they really represent like do they sing about the devil and shit? Herbie: No, but they you know that reminds me of like the movie Detroit Rock City when, you know, the mom was in there and she's like the really religious one they wanted. That's a great movie. Shamus: In the beginning when she knocks on the door and she's like, What's up mom? I'll tell you what's up. The devil's body counts up. That's what's up. Herbie: It was a great movie. Shamus: it's awesome. But I mean that was the times, man. And Christ, there were so many like Ozzie got sued because the one kid committed suicide and he was listening to Suicide Solution. Yeah. And this one guy was just like, There's a hemisink in the song where it says, Get get get the gun and like Ozzie's like listening to this guy. And Ozzy's like, The only fucking hemisink, the only sink I know about is the one you wash your fucking face in, bro. He's like, What are you talking about? So and I know D Snyder had to go and sit in front of Congress and shut all that Yeah, when they were trying to do the explicit lyrics thing and you know, trying to the freedom of whole speech. That was a huge thing in the eighties too, man, when we were growing up. Guys like two live crew and public enemy had to Yeah, it's just Herbie: That's what it just got crazy. Shamus: out of control, bro. Congress is like you cannot speak about the devil and then like they would look at like all the hair metal bands and shit like that. You guys can't sing about the devil, and then look at T Live Crew like you guys can't sing about any of the shit that you guys think about. And then look at like NWA and just be like you guys are in your own fucking categories. No killing cops. Yeah. So but yeah, it was just that's another record I should have looked for. Herbie: Go NWAC. Shamus: Straight out of Compton. That's another one. Two live crew. Herbie: my god, no. It was a great movie too, like full metal jacket. That's a sample from it. Shamus: no doubt. No doubt. Yeah, there's a bunch of records, man, that I was and now that you say it, I wouldn't mind buying some of those records and actually spinning them backwards and see 'cause we did that as kids then like yeah, exactly. We tried that as kids, but we ended up like at our age we were CDs and cassette tapes, so we really couldn't do it as much. But they had a ton of Zeppelin stuff there too, man. yeah. I was like, ooh. But anything, whether it's vintage or not, there there's certain bands that just call for money. And I think like there was one that was pretty beat up, like the outside pack and they wanted forty five dollars for it. I think it was Led Zeppelin two. yeah. And I was like, ooh, I thought But like I said, I would have paid for it. I just don't know if I have it. So I have 'cause Herbie: Yeah. Shamus: like I said, when I was a kid, I had that almost famous moment where I was listening to the monkeys on New Year's Eve and my uncle was like, nah, dude, I'll be back in a week. You Herbie: Mm. Shamus: know what I did? Heavy dark madness. It was fucking awesome. Herbie: Y you know if I if I would get if I go into back into vinyl I wanna find like a tiny Tim's tiptoe through the tulips. Shamus: Where the fuck album is that? It's just Herbie: Weird. I was just like that would be like a great it's like the one like some it's Tiny Tim. You ever see Tiny Tim plays like a ukulele? Unfortunately he passed away on stage. He's like he used to be on the gong show and everything. And some of his songs actually be on like on SpongeBob. Okay. And he just yodels and he just it's a song called Tiptoe Through the Tulip. Shamus: We will look for it next time. Herbie: my god, yeah. It's just a weird song and he was just a weird dude. Shamus: Another one speaking of weird dudes like that, Adam Ant, like I was Yeah. Herbie: yeah, but he was cool though. He did some shitty movies but Shamus: Yeah, it was kinda like some of his albums were there and I like, Have I ever really listened to this dude? Herbie: I think it was like goody toot or goody goody shoes or something like that. Don't drink, don't smoke. What should you do? Don't drink, don't smoke. I love all that stuff, but you know, like when I was watching the Spongebob thing, I was like, they got Tiny Tim songs in here, man. Yeah. And he was always on the Gonk Show. So like older people, you guys know what I'm talking about. Younger ones, you know, if you like SpongeBob, there's a couple of Spongebob songs that or soundtracks in there and it was sung by Tiny Tim. Shamus: Yeah, I didn't see any I didn't see that in the soundtrack thing. Herbie: Matter of fact, listeners, if you guys have anything for like for for the mailbox thing, like if you guys have any I'm sure weird songs or something like that, like weird albums that you that you would just like not really normal type of stuff that you other people would get, you know, give us a give us a shout out. Like what what what you have, what kind of music you like. You know, even like, you know, w your favorite, you know, album covers, anything like that, man. Shamus: I think you picked up one of their albums, didn't you? When we were standing there? Was that Floyd or Who the hell Herbie: Floyd? No. But I I I I Shamus: did you pick? There was somebody you picked up and I was like, Ooh. When Herbie: yeah, who's Shamus: we were in it, it was like the W or Y side because I saw Yes round and round. Yeah. And I was like, Ooh. Yeah. And I was like, I'll get that on the next time. Cause Yes is an awesome band too. there was somebody you picked up and I looked over and I was just like, my god, is that Pink Floyd? Did you scrap Pink Floyd? Herbie: that's yeah. I just like you know, like especially like when you're a little kid. Like I had older cousins that were into all that type of music, so they had the whole thing. So I'm just didn't really know back in the day what it was. And like, you know, what so he's playing and I'm like sitting there going through like their milk carton crate full of all their albums and stuff, checking everything out. They're like, Did you ever hear about the band named Slayer? I'm like, No. You're like, check this one out, it was the Hella Waits cover. I like, holy shit, dude. Shamus: They had that. They Rain and Blood. yeah. Yeah. Yeah, C S. But like even those were rap, those were new. Yeah. And I was like, Like if Peace Sells, who's buying was Retro. my God. They had Rust in Peace. They had their new album, like their final album. Have you ever seen the artwork for that? No. Looks I'm on It's the dude with the metal glasses, but he's putting on a like a tux, but like half of 'em's on fire and shit on the white 'cause it's their final album. They're done after this. that's true. And I was that album cover is gonna be Herbie: That's probably why parents back in the day were like, This is the devil's music. Shamus: Listen, I bought the I forget the name of the album, but it's Dio and it's like the devil like up in this like this big giant devil like in the mountains with his like the priest is in the water. Yeah. Herbie: with the chains around it. Shamus: My mom's just like, please don't ever take this to school for show and tell Yeah. And she was just like, You're not up here worshiping the devil, are you? Herbie: Look into you like you're not a devil worshiper are you, right? 'Cause you know I don't want to try to explain that to, you know, everyone else in the neighborhood. My son worships the devil. Shamus: Well, I used to get my ass cut caught the time 'cause my mom's like, You're not up there worshiping the devil, are you? I'm like, Mom, you told me no matter what to love grandmom. Yeah. That's all there is. Talking to her about her mom, because her mom w my god, she hated she hated all the grandsons. She loves granddaughters. Yeah. So I used to I get little digs in there every once in a while. You're not worshiping the devil? You told me to love grandma. Exactly. Matter of fact, I think she might be on one of these one or two of these covers. they had Number of the Beast there too. did they? Great album cover. Yes actually is. Hell yeah, man. It's Herbie: It's like what's grandmom's middle name? Beazelbell? Shamus: our area code, 666. Herbie: Check the top of her hair for the mark of the beast. Shamus: That was a great thing about her, man. You couldn't get to the top of her head. She had so much goddamn hairspray in it. Herbie: Yeah, she didn't want you to get to it, man. She's like they're not gonna see gonna see this. Shamus: This is how bad we joke about that. It's a sin, man. We'll probably have to answer for this when we get to the pearly gates. Because they're gonna be like, look, man, you were a cop, a fireman, school cop, helped all these people along the lake, but we gotta talk about this fucking grandmom bashing shit going on. And I was like, Well, did she check in? Is she here? And he's No. And I was like, Well, there you go then. Yeah, there you go. Herbie: Actually you know what, they're like, you know what? You were right. Shamus: You gotta pass. But like me and my brother talk like, dude, her hair is probably still perfect. She's been dead for like fifteen, sixteen years, rotting it around, but her hair is probably perfect. Herbie: Yeah, the zombie apocalypse comes, you'd be like, is that grandma? Shamus: That bitch is like one of them werewolves in London from the song Her Hair was perfect. We also said it was like Darth Vader when she'd go home at night, she would sit down like Herbie: Like just a Shamus: her hair would just come off. Yeah, I'm pretty sure my grandmom's beckon the you know, been around a couple album covers, man. I mean, she comes in many different ways. I guess we can start wrapping this one up. And like Herbie said, if you guys know of a record store in the area that you're at, if you can think of any epic albums we need to go out and get or any memories of record stores or you know, even DVDs and video games. They had yeah, like I said, they had blue did they have they didn't have video games though, right? Herbie: Yeah, I saw a couple. Shamus: Did you really? Herbie: I saw a couple. Yeah. It wasn't like a big cults, you selection, but you know. Shamus: Well that's how he head games used to be the other way around. yeah. They were all video games and then they had a small selection of CDs and stuff like that. But yeah, I'm gonna keep going back to tunes. I'm probably gonna go check out the record ride up in Burlington this Sunday. Yeah. get your tickets there for Evan EventBright dot com. and then we're gonna check out some of this other stuff. I am gonna check out the one in Mount Holly. Yeah. the one in Berlin is I think the record museum. Wanna check those out. see if I can start hunting down some of this great vinyl that's out there. Yeah, man. Nothing new though. I mean, if it's like the post Malone album, I'll probably buy. But I mean that's not his fault. He wasn't so Herbie: Like not a vinyl purist, like god damn it. Shamus: Yeah man. I couldn't believe like somebody said I think it was Dana on the Exciting and New. I I don't know if we talked about this or if it was the one we were recording before this and something got screwed up and but like Taylor Swift's like she's got a white album, a black album, and I think she a red one, and I think she's doing a limited edition pink album, like only fifty thousand copies. And people are going ape shit over it. I'm sure. So Gotta be black vinyl, man. Yeah. Like the Ace Freely album I was looking at today was oranges, oranges. I can never orange. Yeah. Original volume three or whatever. Orange origin. So, but like that one's blue with like all these squiggly lines for like lightning, I guess. And I was like, I don't know, yeah. Maybe I'll buy it. Maybe I won't. But just give me the black vinyl, man. So you got anything else, bud? No, that's it. Are you enjoying your time off this so far? Herbie: my god, dude. People think I'm full of shit, but you don't understand, Shamus: No. Herbie: man. yeah. Well yeah, we we had to talk about that too. Well don't worry, I'm not fighting any beavers right now, man. Sucks. Shamus: Well maybe we get on the water this weekend. Yeah, yeah. All right everybody. Remember to like, rate, and subscribe on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. And also spread the word about us.
