- 0:00180 billion watermark images are now checkable by the public through google's synth ID detector.
- 0:06This is MAG 7 Daily, episode 16.
- 0:10At the top of the tape, that public check also covers sound.
- 0:13Google says the same hidden marks already sit on 240,000 years of audio.
- 0:19The independent reports the tool is synth ID detector, and it reads text, images, audio,
- 0:26and video.
- 0:26You get it through Google DeepMind.
- 0:29A crop or a filter is not supposed to wipe the mark, and the file should still look and
- 0:34sound the same to a person.
- 0:36The timing tracks the European Union AI Act, which tells generative platforms to make
- 0:41their outputs identifiable to automated systems.
- 0:45Amazon Web Services has shipped a sandbox called Strand's Box, Info World Reports, so
- 0:51a policy can block an agent's next action from what it already did.
- 0:55developer preview landed October 7th under the Apache 2.0 license. Right now it runs on Max with
- 1:02Apple Silicon and Mac OS 15 or later. The policy language is dogwood. Its engine can watch activity
- 1:10across tools, so a file read in the shell can lock down later network calls. AWS's example is an
- 1:17incident agent that may post a slack, but no more than three times every 10 minutes, and the box holds
- 1:24the line. It inspects the shell, the Python interpreters, and the model context protocol broker.
- 1:30The network gateway can pin credentials onto an approved request and keep those secrets out of
- 1:35the agent. Perique Jane, who runs Perique Consulting, says the pieces underneath are not new.
- 1:42The point is enforcing the same rules across different agent frameworks. A file the harness
- 1:47opens with its own tools still sits under the operating system, and Dogwood does not score it.
- 1:54ISIL Morphic Labs, the drug discovery startup spun out of Google DeepMind,
- 1:58is in early talks to raise money at a valuation of at least $40 billion,
- 2:03people familiar with the effort told Bloomberg.
- 2:06Neil Campling had the details. That number is the valuation under discussion,
- 2:11not a round that has closed. Yesterday, the spending story was still about how much the
- 2:16builders are laying out. Today, an NVIDIA-backed listing went the other way.
- 2:20Australian data center firm, Firmis Grid, closed the books on its initial public offering
- 2:26as demand plunged. Bloomberg reports, people familiar with the matter said investors
- 2:32grew more worried the deal could be pulled. Bloomberg called the drop fresh cracks in the AI
- 2:37funding boom. Meta on October 7th added AI checks to add review for ads that look fine
- 2:44and then send people somewhere banned. Content grip reports. Meta said it investigated ads
- 2:50used to point people to child sexual exploitation material off Facebook and Instagram, shut the
- 2:56violating accounts, and block those outside links.
- 3:00The new layer uses a large language model to catch suspected covert signposting, reads
- 3:06where the ad actually goes, runs extra sweeps for older misses, and sets an AI agent to
- 3:12test Meta's own defenses.
- 3:14It also tightens detection of people who come back after an account is removed.
- 3:18Meta reported 33.2 million pieces of violating content action globally on Facebook and Instagram from January through June 2026.
- 3:28Those totals are wider than paid ads and they predate the October announcement, so they are not a scorecard for the new tools.
- 3:35A tipster Mac rumors calls hit-and-miss ZUE-1122 on the Korean NAVOR blog, wrote that domestic
- 3:43production for the unreleased iPad Mini is already confirmed as LTPS at 60Hz, not a 120Hz
- 3:51promotion panel.
- 3:52The same account said in July that a supply chain source described a hybrid OLED locked
- 3:57at 60Hz.
- 3:59Mac rumors notes iPad Pro panels are two-stack LTPO and can move between 10Hz and 100
- 4:05120Hz, while LTPS is usually a fixed rate and typically dimmer.
- 4:11The iPad Mini 7 on sale now uses a 60Hz LCD.
- 4:15Mac rumors sets that against a base iPhone 17 with 120Hz pro motion, and an iPhone 17
- 4:23E that still ships 60Hz OLED.
- 4:26The same report says the Mini should also get a faster A20 Pro, a FaceTime camera swung
- 4:32from portrait to landscape, redesigned speakers, and a water-resistant body.
- 4:37Microsoft has now priced the Surface Laptop Ultra it showed earlier this year, MacRumors
- 4:42reports.
- 4:44The 15-inch model starts at $2,599, under a $2,999 16-inch MacBook Pro, and it goes on
- 4:53sale October 16.
- 4:55Microsoft says the machine is for heavy creative work, software, AI, engineering, and 3D.
- 5:01Inside is an NVIDIA RTX Spark chip, a blackwell RTX graphics processor of up to 6,144 cores,
- 5:11a gray CPU of up to 20 cores, as much as 128GB of unified memory, and a new thermal layout.
- 5:19The chip is ARM, so Windows on ARM runs x86 apps through Prism emulation.
- 5:24Microsoft calls this its most powerful Surface Notebook, with peak HDR brightness 25% higher
- 5:32than the M5 MacBook Pro.
- 5:34The Mini-LED panel is a touchscreen for gestures and navigation, not for a pen.
- 5:39It is lighter than that 16-inch MacBook Pro with a haptic trackpad and storage you can upgrade.
- 5:46Magnetic Connect, Microsoft says, is the first built-in magnetic USB-C charger on a laptop.
- 5:52up. The ports are 3 USB-C, 1 USB-A, HDMI, and SD reader, and a headphone jack. A companion
- 6:00surface RTX Spark Dev Box starts at $5999, rated up to 1 petaflop with room for models
- 6:09up to 120 billion parameters set against the Mac Studio and the Mac Mini. Trade in an eligible
- 6:15Macbook and Microsoft will hand back up to $1,000.
- 6:19That public watermark check stops at the generators Google named.
- 6:24Its own models, open AI, Nvidia, Kakao, and Apple.
- 6:28The tool reads marks those platforms embedded.
- 6:31It is not described as a sweep of every synthetic file on the web.
- 6:35The EU rule it is lined up against is identify the output.
- 6:40How far past those five names the detector reaches is the open question.
- 6:44and that partner list is the number that decides it.
- 6:47Nearly 800 software developers
- 6:49packed a San Francisco Hall last week
- 6:51for a modal conference,
- 6:53and the fight on stage now runs across the seven.
- 6:56Scott Wu, whose coding agent startup Cognition
- 6:59hit a $48 billion valuation last month,
- 7:03told them to think in virtual employees
- 7:05that own outcomes, not tasks.
- 7:07He dated his confidence to the AIME moment last year
- 7:11when models started beating humans on the hard math contests he used to enter.
- 7:17The information reports OpenAI said Tuesday that an unreleased model had
- 7:21solved or sharply advanced hundreds of significant problems in math and
- 7:25computer science. Later that day, Diogo Elmeida, a former OpenAI researcher now
- 7:31running Typesafe AI, asked that room where the automation is. His account,
- 7:37today's models are optimized for assistance with reinforcement learning from
- 7:41human feedback, so they please a person in the loop and fail when nobody is watching.
- 7:46Cat Wu, who heads product for Claude code at Anthropic, put a ratio on the stall.
- 7:52The model does 80%, a human still does 20%, and that 20% repeats.
- 7:58Dax Rod, who built open code, said the failure he is fighting is human.
- 8:03Engineers are not looking hard enough at code the models write.
- 8:06Microsoft on Wednesday unveiled its latest push to run AI inside Windows PCs instead of in the cloud,
- 8:14which the company said would cut costs for customers.
- 8:17Anjne Midha, a former general partner at Andreessen Horowitz,
- 8:21and former executives from Google, Apple, and Nvidia,
- 8:25have started a company meant to make that compute easier and cheaper for smaller firms.
- 8:30Apple is set to unveil some new home products on Tuesday, October 13th.
- 8:35Mark Gurm and told Bloomberg. As Mac rumors reports, Mac rumors own sources say Apple plans a
- 8:42separate event in the final week of October, and the iPad Mini 8 could show up then.
- 8:48Before we go, that home product unveiling is the nearest day on the sheet.
