- 0:49Speaker 2: I definitely do not think Jalen Hurts is in any way,
- 0:52Speaker 2: shape or form above, and that's you know what, Let's
- 0:54Speaker 2: just start there, Greg, because I think a lot of
- 0:57Speaker 2: times we talk about you're really good at it. You'll
- 1:01Speaker 2: tell us, hey, this is something maybe Jalen Hurts doesn't
- 1:03Speaker 2: do well, but you never lead it to the point
- 1:05Speaker 2: where you're trying to say, I don't think Jalen Hurts
- 1:07Speaker 2: is good. I think that people forget exactly. I think
- 1:11Speaker 2: that so many people think when you say you point
- 1:13Speaker 2: out somebody's flaw, that you're pointing out that they're not
- 1:16Speaker 2: a good player. Every single player has a flaw. There's
- 1:18Speaker 2: nobody who's perfect. So you know, in this game was
- 1:22Speaker 2: to me, you know, a microcosm of what Jalen Hurts
- 1:25Speaker 2: could be, you know what I mean, Like he's seen
- 1:27Speaker 2: it at the throat of Brown. I thought the second
- 1:29Speaker 2: touchdown pass may have been the best throw I've seen
- 1:32Speaker 2: him make this season, maybe in a long time. I mean,
- 1:34Speaker 2: it was an anticipation throw, the third down throw. But overall,
- 1:38Speaker 2: I know you talked about it inside the tape, but
- 1:40Speaker 2: if you want to dive in a little more on
- 1:42Speaker 2: on Jalen Hurts and I'm all ears.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Well, the number one thing, they played a very difficult defense,
- 1:49Speaker 3: and I might not have seen that way because they
- 1:51Speaker 3: ended up having a big passing game obviously, but when
- 1:54Speaker 3: you play the Vikings, the number one thing becomes protection
- 1:58Speaker 3: because one thing Flaora is and we saw it in
- 2:01Speaker 3: this game, is he'll rush six and that leaves voids
- 2:05Speaker 3: in coverage. Now he knows there's voids in coverage. There's
- 2:07Speaker 3: not a surprise to Brian Flores that there's voids in coverage.
- 2:10Speaker 3: It's his defense. So he's counting on the pressure to
- 2:15Speaker 3: force the quarterback to have to make faster decisions that
- 2:19Speaker 3: end up being bad decisions. That's essentially what he's trying
- 2:23Speaker 3: to do. But a lot of if you rush six,
- 2:26Speaker 3: because he's not a man to man defensive coordinator, he
- 2:30Speaker 3: plays these sort of I'm not even sure what you'd
- 2:33Speaker 3: call it, you know, but it's zone match hot zone
- 2:37Speaker 3: match coverage, I mean, because you only have five in coverage,
- 2:40Speaker 3: you know, so there's going to be a lot of voids.
- 2:43Speaker 3: So when you play, if it's a pure pocket quarterback,
- 2:47Speaker 3: he can have more success because there's no second reaction
- 2:50Speaker 3: element to a pure pocket quarterback, you know, because if
- 2:53Speaker 3: you speed the pure pocket quarterback up, he ends up
- 2:56Speaker 3: either getting sacked eventually, or he throws the ball up away,
- 3:00Speaker 3: or he just makes a you know, a bad throat.
- 3:03Speaker 1: What's up als feeling great today?
- 3:05Speaker 4: Let me tell you that I know what my quarterback is.
- 3:08Speaker 4: I'm not. I wasn't.
- 3:10Speaker 5: I wasn't upset. He just went just like normal people
- 3:14Speaker 5: w ip and other things, they go way overboard.
- 3:17Speaker 4: And that's my only point.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Like you could say you don't like some things, but
- 3:20Speaker 5: to say he's a bum is like, come.
- 3:22Speaker 3: On, that's that's ridiculous. I mean, he's got certain strangs.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Eagles know what the strains are, they know what the
- 3:27Speaker 3: weaknesses are, and you have to play accordingly.
- 3:31Speaker 4: But you know, yeah, he's not a bum. I mean,
- 3:34Speaker 4: that's that's the silly thing. But you know, by the.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Way, two games, I can't wait to hear what everybody.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I probably haven't listened to sports talk radio in twenty years,
- 3:43Speaker 3: so I don't know what they say.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Yeah, but I'm just saying I live here, so I
- 3:47Speaker 5: hear everything.
- 3:48Speaker 4: All right.
- 3:48Speaker 5: So what two questions are, Well, yeah, two questions are
- 3:53Speaker 5: Dean and Campbell. Camp Dean flashed a little bit, but
- 3:57Speaker 5: Campbell was a little quiet.
- 3:59Speaker 4: What did you say?
- 4:00Speaker 3: Well, Campbell was asked to do something that he hadn't
- 4:03Speaker 3: really done a lot of during the season. So what
- 4:05Speaker 3: they clearly wanted to do is when they and I
- 4:08Speaker 3: don't know if this was a function of Ajilari only
- 4:10Speaker 3: playing four snaps and then asking Campbell to do something
- 4:13Speaker 3: maybe al that they hadn't practiced during the week that
- 4:16Speaker 3: I can't answer, but once got hurt, what happened was
- 4:20Speaker 3: is in their base defense, Campbell became an edge player
- 4:24Speaker 3: in their base five to two front and Dean became
- 4:28Speaker 3: the stacked backer. Okay, So I, like I said, I
- 4:32Speaker 3: don't know if Campbell how much he's practiced being the
- 4:35Speaker 3: edge player in their base five to two. So it's
- 4:39Speaker 3: possible that he was put in a position because they
- 4:41Speaker 3: really didn't have anybody else to play meaningful snaps if
- 4:45Speaker 3: he was asked to do something that he's capable of
- 4:48Speaker 3: but hadn't really practiced. So I don't know the answer
- 4:51Speaker 3: to that. He's certainly capable of doing that, But you know,
- 4:55Speaker 3: I thought Dean actually had some good reps in this game.
- 4:58Speaker 3: He's always been good at playing downhill and shooting gaps,
- 5:01Speaker 3: you know, because because at Georgia he was an excellent blitzer,
- 5:04Speaker 3: so he's used to playing downhill. That's kind of his game.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Despite his size, he plays that very well. So Campbell
- 5:11Speaker 3: did not flash in terms of making plays. But I wouldn't.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I wouldn't just to me because I don't know what
- 5:18Speaker 3: practice was like, I wouldn't be quick to say it
- 5:20Speaker 3: didn't play well because he may have been asked to
- 5:22Speaker 3: do something that he didn't practice a lot.
- 5:24Speaker 6: So I didn't get to watch her the tape yet,
- 5:27Speaker 6: so or your your.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Tape show yet, So I didn't listen.
- 5:32Speaker 6: If you said it or not, But I wanted to
- 5:35Speaker 6: talk about Jalen Hurts make. He made some really big
- 5:37Speaker 6: plays on like real third and long. He had like
- 5:39Speaker 6: the right side line to aj Brown, left sideline to
- 5:42Speaker 6: Delante Smith. But they can't like live in that. That's
- 5:46Speaker 6: that's very hard to do correct, you know, to make
- 5:50Speaker 6: those plays. So it did really seem like the offense
- 5:52Speaker 6: was still sputtering a lot and inconsistent, and then Hurts
- 5:57Speaker 6: was just making great plays on the big dewn well,
- 6:01Speaker 6: which is kind of more like twenty twenty two is
- 6:05Speaker 6: what game was.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Eddie was specific to the opponent. Now again, you know,
- 6:09Speaker 3: we'll see what happens is they as they move forward.
- 6:12Speaker 3: This game was very specific to the opponent. I don't
- 6:14Speaker 3: know if you jumped in after you know what we
- 6:15Speaker 3: just talked about, but this was a game where they
- 6:18Speaker 3: faced a lot of six man fronts, a lot of pressure.
- 6:21Speaker 3: You know, that's what Brian Flores does. So your quarterback
- 6:24Speaker 3: at times is if he's capable, which Jalen is, of
- 6:27Speaker 3: making plays outside the structure of the play call. But
- 6:30Speaker 3: he also made a number of really big time throws.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I mean the seventy nine yard touchdown to DeVonta Smith.
- 6:38Speaker 3: And I don't know if if you guys got a
- 6:39Speaker 3: chance to hear our inside the tape breakdown, but that
- 6:42Speaker 3: was that was a brilliant play call based on what
- 6:45Speaker 3: they had seen from that exact same personnel and formation
- 6:51Speaker 3: in the first half, because they started their second position
- 6:54Speaker 3: with that personnel grouping information and they ran the ball
- 6:57Speaker 3: Barkley four yards, but they saw how the Vikings played it.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Then on the second quarter, on first and ten, with
- 7:04Speaker 3: less than seventh minute training, they went into the exact
- 7:07Speaker 3: same personnel information and the play didn't count because it
- 7:10Speaker 3: was a mile out a holding call, but they saw
- 7:12Speaker 3: exactly what they were getting from the defense, and so
- 7:16Speaker 3: when they called it on the second or third play
- 7:18Speaker 3: of the first third quarter possession, they knew exactly what
- 7:22Speaker 3: that They knew Harrison Smith was going to drop down
- 7:25Speaker 3: and that DeVonta Smith was going to be one on
- 7:27Speaker 3: one with the corner. So that was See, that's one
- 7:30Speaker 3: reason I love football because when I see stuff like that,
- 7:33Speaker 3: that to me is football. You know, obviously guys can
- 7:35Speaker 3: make plays all that great stuff, but that to me
- 7:38Speaker 3: is coaching.
- 7:39Speaker 4: That's what I love it.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Now, you still got to execute the play and obviously
- 7:42Speaker 3: threw the ball sixty yards in the air, and that's
- 7:44Speaker 3: one of the strengths of his game is he's as
- 7:47Speaker 3: good as deep ball thrower as there is in the league,
- 7:49Speaker 3: and he just you know, you couldn't have handed it
- 7:50Speaker 3: to Smith any better. But that, to me was just
- 7:53Speaker 3: set up by what they saw when they did the
- 7:55Speaker 3: exact same personnel information in the first half.
- 7:59Speaker 7: I understand and somewhat agree with Eddie's sort of question
- 8:03Speaker 7: is can can the Eagles be a shot play offense
- 8:07Speaker 7: and still get to where they want to be in
- 8:08Speaker 7: the Super Bowl? I would argue last year from a
- 8:10Speaker 7: passing game, they were a shot play offense, but they
- 8:13Speaker 7: had to believe it a running game, right right. If
- 8:16Speaker 7: they don't have anything near the running game that they
- 8:19Speaker 7: had last year, I don't think that they can survive
- 8:22Speaker 7: this way personally, just my opinion, just being.
- 8:25Speaker 4: You're probably right, Yeah, I mean, look right now.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I mean again, I hate saying things like this because
- 8:31Speaker 3: I find it stupid when people do. But the reality
- 8:33Speaker 3: is what his sake on, Barkley's on track for like
- 8:36Speaker 3: seven hundred and fifty yards. Yeah, I thought you're crazy,
- 8:38Speaker 3: you know, going into the season.
- 8:40Speaker 4: I mean that's crazy very much.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I was saying to the guys when we did our
- 8:44Speaker 3: inside the tate that you know, you could have won
- 8:46Speaker 3: a lot of bets if you would have said after
- 8:48Speaker 3: seven games, Barkley didn't have a twenty yard run.
- 8:50Speaker 4: I mean, that's crazy. It is absolutely insane.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Hey, fall is planting season. Did you know that many

- 11:26Speaker 8: It was good to see just some life out of
- 11:29Speaker 8: the offense. That was awesome. Yn played really well. I
- 11:32Speaker 8: want to shift to the defense though I know Jalen
- 11:34Speaker 8: Carter had some huge pressures. I just wanted to ask
- 11:37Speaker 8: what you saw from him and do you see like
- 11:40Speaker 8: him getting better from you know early in the season
- 11:42Speaker 8: where he was kind of quiet. I know he missed
- 11:44Speaker 8: a couple games as well.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I thought he had a few splash plays, but I
- 11:49Speaker 3: didn't think overall he was as dominant as we know
- 11:52Speaker 3: he can be, and we saw him you know last year,
- 11:54Speaker 3: you know, but he had a few splash plays. Obviously
- 11:57Speaker 3: on the hunt interception return for a touchdown, which was
- 12:00Speaker 3: a very interesting defensive front where they basically it was
- 12:04Speaker 3: a five man front, but he was basically a zero
- 12:08Speaker 3: technique and he was.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Kind of off the ball.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a different look, and I was saying
- 12:13Speaker 3: to the guys, I don't think I've seen that all
- 12:15Speaker 3: season long.
- 12:16Speaker 4: I mean, I couldn't remember seeing that.
- 12:18Speaker 3: I don't want, you know, sometimes, because now it's seven games,
- 12:20Speaker 3: I don't want to say, oh, guy, I've never seen it,
- 12:22Speaker 3: because maybe they did it once, but I don't remember
- 12:24Speaker 3: seeing it. And of course he beat the center so
- 12:27Speaker 3: quick with his patented club move. I think Wentz was
- 12:30Speaker 3: going to throw that ball regardless of Carter being there.
- 12:32Speaker 3: But obviously Carter gave him a shot in the chest
- 12:34Speaker 3: and the ribs that I'm sure it didn't feel wonderful,
- 12:37Speaker 3: but he had you know, he had a few splash plays.
- 12:42Speaker 3: But I still think he's better than that overall. And again,
- 12:45Speaker 3: I don't know if the injury is still a factor
- 12:47Speaker 3: for him not to be able to play at that
- 12:49Speaker 3: level for fifty or sixty plays, but he certainly can
- 12:52Speaker 3: make impact plays, there's no question.
- 12:54Speaker 8: So was his presence I guess, and was the protection
- 12:58Speaker 8: dictated to him? And is that way you think Joemo
- 13:01Speaker 8: had some better pass rushes as well at times?
- 13:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know what I've noticed is teams.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Teams don't necessarily slide to him on every play, like
- 13:11Speaker 3: you know, people think, oh, they're just going to take
- 13:12Speaker 3: Eric Carter. You know, they don't do that on every
- 13:14Speaker 3: single play. And Eagles know this as well. They know
- 13:17Speaker 3: how teams will protect. You know. The one thing that
- 13:21Speaker 3: I'm sure you guys understand is none of this stuff's
- 13:23Speaker 3: a secret. You know, you don't win in the NFL
- 13:25Speaker 3: by tricking people by doing things nobody's ever seen or
- 13:29Speaker 3: heard of or you know, it's it's nothing's a real secret.
- 13:32Speaker 3: One thing I learned very early on is coaches coach
- 13:35Speaker 3: against coaches, and coaches have tendencies. Coaches coach what they know,
- 13:39Speaker 3: so you know, you have a sense of how the
- 13:43Speaker 3: opponent's going to play certain things. Now, you always want
- 13:46Speaker 3: to validate that, you know, just like the touchdown is
- 13:49Speaker 3: talking about with Smith, it said that's seventy nine yard
- 13:51Speaker 3: are You know, you go through a game and you
- 13:52Speaker 3: see certain things and it's always the people up top,
- 13:55Speaker 3: not the coaches on the field because they can't see
- 13:57Speaker 3: that kind of stuff.
- 13:58Speaker 4: They're too low.
- 13:59Speaker 3: So the coach, I guarantee they went in at halftime
- 14:02Speaker 3: and who and because all the coaches going at halftime
- 14:04Speaker 3: and whoever was charting that particular thing, told Kevin Patullo
- 14:08Speaker 3: or Sirianni or both that, hey, I think.
- 14:10Speaker 4: We got something here.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And then because I think they called it on the
- 14:13Speaker 3: second play of the third quarter, if memory serves serves
- 14:16Speaker 3: me correctly.
- 14:17Speaker 9: I just was going to uh ask uh ask Greg.
- 14:20Speaker 9: I've always noticed uh Jalen Hurts as a quarterback to
- 14:25Speaker 9: me as like having a strength of being like an
- 14:28Speaker 9: improventizational kind of guy, like a great, a great improv player,
- 14:33Speaker 9: and I think that was on full display this week.
- 14:36Speaker 9: A lot of you know, once the play was breaking down,
- 14:38Speaker 9: like directing traffic and you know, making things happen on
- 14:42Speaker 9: the fly. I guess over the specifically in the Broncos game,
- 14:47Speaker 9: and then a little yeah, I guess even in the
- 14:50Speaker 9: Giants game, there was a few miscommunications where he missed
- 14:55Speaker 9: some big throws, and I honestly think that uh oh sorry,
- 15:04Speaker 9: I honestly think that there may have been some things
- 15:09Speaker 9: that were worked out, maybe this week, this little mini
- 15:12Speaker 9: buy over in practice, and I was wondering, Greg, if
- 15:16Speaker 9: you noticed anything on tape with Jalen being able to
- 15:20Speaker 9: direct even like you know, pre snap, I know, like
- 15:24Speaker 9: the I think the touchdown to Brown, he uh, he
- 15:28Speaker 9: had like a hand in motion that maybe adjusted to
- 15:31Speaker 9: play a bit. I was wondering if you noticed anything
- 15:34Speaker 9: more from him on the improvisational front over the last
- 15:39Speaker 9: you know, like a couple of weeks, or if there's
- 15:41Speaker 9: been a change where you seem like he's been more
- 15:45Speaker 9: on the same page with his receivers.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Well, I think he's always an improvisational guy. I think
- 15:50Speaker 3: that's one of the strengths of his game. You know,
- 15:53Speaker 3: when there are times he leaves the pocket when he
- 15:55Speaker 3: doesn't need to. There are times he drops his eyes
- 15:58Speaker 3: because he just you know, he anticipates or perceives pressure
- 16:01Speaker 3: that may or may not be there.
- 16:03Speaker 4: I think that's part of his game, you know.
- 16:05Speaker 3: He's the quarterbacks that are really good at moving will
- 16:08Speaker 3: always do that. So sometimes they leave throws on the field,
- 16:12Speaker 3: that's the term we use. You know, the route design
- 16:15Speaker 3: might work, and they just leave throws on the field.
- 16:17Speaker 3: That touchdown he threw to Brown on fourth and four.
- 16:20Speaker 3: You know, that was the case where they the Vikings
- 16:24Speaker 3: played two man coverage and it was only and they
- 16:28Speaker 3: had cash from being a spy on Hertz, so there
- 16:30Speaker 3: was only a three man pass rush. So he had
- 16:33Speaker 3: five seconds in the pocket because they generated no pressure,
- 16:37Speaker 3: and then he was just able to kind of direct.
- 16:39Speaker 3: He saw that Metallis was the one who was matching
- 16:42Speaker 3: Brown because Brown was a motion guy, and he just
- 16:44Speaker 3: basically told Brown, you know, hey, just just go deep.
- 16:48Speaker 3: But you know, the improvisational part Paul will always be
- 16:52Speaker 3: part of his game that he's never going to become
- 16:55Speaker 3: no matter how much further he develops a guy that
- 16:58Speaker 3: is just a pure pocket player. And plus you don't
- 17:00Speaker 3: want him to be that, you know, I think I
- 17:03Speaker 3: think with guys like that, you live with that the
- 17:06Speaker 3: plays that they might miss here and there, and they
- 17:08Speaker 3: do miss, believe me. And that's something that you know,
- 17:11Speaker 3: I've talked about over the years, and not only would
- 17:13Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts, but with other quarterbacks that are you know,
- 17:16Speaker 3: move around. That's just something that they do. But you
- 17:19Speaker 3: don't want to take away you guys instincts. That's the
- 17:21Speaker 3: one thing you don't want to make a guy who
- 17:23Speaker 3: didn't grow up playing the position like a robot. And
- 17:27Speaker 3: I mean like a robot in a good way. You know,
- 17:29Speaker 3: I don't mean a robot in a bad way. You
- 17:31Speaker 3: could argue Tom Brady was a robot, but he was
- 17:33Speaker 3: pretty good. But you know, so you don't want to
- 17:36Speaker 3: take away you guys instincts. So you know you walk
- 17:39Speaker 3: a fine line there and how you coach that.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Everybody.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Greg, Thank you guys.
- 17:43Speaker 3: I'm sure up tonight really appreciate it. Love talking with
- 17:47Speaker 3: you guys every week.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Very well, everybody
