- 0:00Speaker 1: Track, the Galaxy's most unpredictable Star Trek podcast. Yeah, here
- 0:21Speaker 1: we go live from studios I guess in just Idaho
- 0:24Speaker 1: and Michigan. This is Trek Cast, the Galaxy's most unpredictable
- 0:28Speaker 1: Star Trek Podcast.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I think studio down today.
- 0:32Speaker 1: That's right, that's right. So today on the show, we're
- 0:36Speaker 1: gonna be talking about uh star Trek Con.
- 0:39Speaker 3: That's right. How it's all a con, guys the entire time.
- 0:44Speaker 1: It's plus, we've got some Star Trek news, some listener feedback.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'm Scott Powders, and now reports of his assimilation have
- 0:55Speaker 1: been greatly exaggerated.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I was wondering what you would say to that. Yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 2: I'm back.
- 1:01Speaker 3: They finally let me out, let me out. I'm love me,
- 1:05Speaker 3: never been in of it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Well, let's talk about that. How you doing.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I'm good, I'm good.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah, we should probably get that element out of the room.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I spent a week and a day in the hospital,
- 1:17Speaker 3: so I ended up I had fluid in my lungs
- 1:20Speaker 3: and so they had to get that out and I'm
- 1:24Speaker 3: doing much much better now.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Wonderful. Yeahful, Yeah, you were. You were a daily topic
- 1:29Speaker 1: of conversation here at the Boucher's house.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I imagine, I imagine I was at a
- 1:35Speaker 3: few places. But thank you for room, for your support.
- 1:38Speaker 3: It meant a lot. And uh and I'm glad to
- 1:41Speaker 3: just be out and uh, I haven't even been to
- 1:44Speaker 3: work yet. I go to work tomorrow.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Oh okay, yeah yeah, yeah. Week in a day in
- 1:49Speaker 1: the hospital. That's that's a lot of hospital food.
- 1:52Speaker 3: It's a lot of hospital food.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a lot of how'd you pass the time?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Oh my god. They have their own like hospital Netflix
- 2:03Speaker 3: that has like it's weird because it has movies on there,
- 2:08Speaker 3: some that I already have another streaming services and some
- 2:10Speaker 3: I didn't, so I watched some movies. They had a
- 2:16Speaker 3: weird stuff too, Like you could request things like I
- 2:20Speaker 3: requested the chaplain to talk to the chaplain because I
- 2:22Speaker 3: thought that'd be helpful. And then I also request the
- 2:25Speaker 3: therapy dog. Oh yeah, and they're like you can do that,
- 2:31Speaker 3: and I go, well, I I know they have one here,
- 2:34Speaker 3: and I don't know if it's just for the kids,
- 2:36Speaker 3: and they're like they look it up and they're like, no,
- 2:38Speaker 3: the adults can ask it. And so I requested the
- 2:41Speaker 3: dog and then like I guess the next day, like
- 2:44Speaker 3: four other patients in my area requested the dog too.
- 2:48Speaker 2: They didn't know that they could.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Do that, right right, Oh I would love Yeah, that'd
- 2:52Speaker 1: be great. I love dogs. Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 3: So yeah, nice little uh nice little shelter dog.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So so what what uh? Like what happened? What what precipitated? Yeah?
- 3:04Speaker 3: So so I had uh, I had trouble breathing, and
- 3:07Speaker 3: it felt just like just like a like like congestion.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Didn't feel like anything horrible, and but I noticed that
- 3:17Speaker 3: I would get really winded just walking a small amount,
- 3:20Speaker 3: like just to the bathroom or just to my car,
- 3:23Speaker 3: like it was it was off right, and but you know,
- 3:29Speaker 3: I was still fine, like I was functional. And so
- 3:35Speaker 3: I took the Monday off of work and then I thought, okay,
- 3:38Speaker 3: I'll recover from this and then I'll I'll go go
- 3:41Speaker 3: to work. And then Tuesday, I was getting ready for
- 3:44Speaker 3: work and I was just getting really exhausted, even just
- 3:46Speaker 3: taking a shower, like I was just so tired. And
- 3:50Speaker 3: I was like, okay, that's not normal. And then I
- 3:54Speaker 3: walked out to my car and just getting in the car,
- 3:59Speaker 3: I got really right after I just sat in the.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Car, yeah, and I was like riving probably aren't a
- 4:05Speaker 1: great thing.
- 4:05Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, none at all. And I was like, okay,
- 4:08Speaker 3: that's that's not good. So I text my boss. I'm like, hey,
- 4:12Speaker 3: this is what just happened. I want to just run
- 4:14Speaker 3: to the urgent care just just to see just to
- 4:18Speaker 3: be safe. Yeah, you know, because you know, I've got
- 4:21Speaker 3: a done of medical stuff, so I want to I
- 4:23Speaker 3: want to make sure.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:24Speaker 3: And so I get there and uh, within like within
- 4:28Speaker 3: ten minutes, I'm seeing a doctor and uh They're like, oh, yeah, you.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Got fluid in your lungs.
- 4:34Speaker 3: We think your oxygen level is like below normal, like
- 4:40Speaker 3: I was in the seventies to eighties.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, they like in the high nineties, right.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Coreat Yeah, yeah, yeah, in the nineties.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So uh so yeah I was low and uh.
- 4:51Speaker 3: They wouldn't let me just drive or like I wanted
- 4:55Speaker 3: to go to a different hospital and they're like, yeah, no,
- 4:57Speaker 3: we got to take you to the closest one. So yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 3: and then they were like you can legally, you can
- 5:04Speaker 3: drive yourself, but we don't suggest it.
- 5:06Speaker 1: We would recommend that.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Yeah, like we need to take you in an ambulance.
- 5:11Speaker 3: So I got I got the ambulance ride. And yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 3: because at that point, I was like, all right, well,
- 5:17Speaker 3: I'm not gonna we'll find out. We'll find out. I'm
- 5:23Speaker 3: dreading all of this.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, you just it's it's not like they
- 5:28Speaker 1: can you know, kick you out of your house or
- 5:30Speaker 1: you know, medical bills are like you just pay them
- 5:33Speaker 1: when you can pay.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Them, right right, but still but still yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 3: So the good thing is, you know, yeah, a lot
- 5:44Speaker 3: of it has been taken care of, you know, the
- 5:45Speaker 3: fluids out of my lungs. Yeah, overall, the prognosis for
- 5:51Speaker 3: me is really good. It's just I have to watch stuff.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I have to really restrict my sodium. I have to
- 5:57Speaker 3: really watch my diet. I can't just Willie Elliott like
- 6:01Speaker 3: I have been recently. That's that's a lot of my mistake.
- 6:04Speaker 3: So you guys have got to really take care of
- 6:06Speaker 3: yourselves out there.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, so it just came on maybe diet and.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just it's just it's just honestly, just screw off.
- 6:17Speaker 3: It's just a diet.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, it's important to take care of yourself.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I've been taking my health a lot more seriously lately.
- 6:25Speaker 1: After fifteen years and out of the army, I finally
- 6:29Speaker 1: decided that it was time to get set up with
- 6:31Speaker 1: a VA, and I've been procrastinating for fifteen years. Oh wow,
- 6:36Speaker 1: the VA is great. I get I get free healthcare.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Now.
- 6:41Speaker 1: If I go to the er anywhere in the country,
- 6:44Speaker 1: any civilian er, the VA will take care of it.
- 6:48Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, there's there's disability stuff that I can get, you know,
- 6:52Speaker 1: for my time in service. So if there's any veterans
- 6:55Speaker 1: out there listening that have not gotten connected with the VA,
- 7:01Speaker 1: get connected with the VA.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Do do they do?
- 7:04Speaker 3: You know? I don't know if you would know this,
- 7:06Speaker 3: But if you if you've already had the incident but
- 7:09Speaker 3: not signed up with the VA, is it too late
- 7:12Speaker 3: or no?
- 7:13Speaker 1: I so far, so far, I have not heard the
- 7:16Speaker 1: words pre existing condition. Now I don't know about it
- 7:20Speaker 1: before you join the military, but most pre existing conditions
- 7:23Speaker 1: before you join in the military prevent you from joining
- 7:26Speaker 1: the military. So if I had you know, no, no,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I don't.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I don't mean a prex using condition.
- 7:30Speaker 3: But like if you have an event, like if you're
- 7:32Speaker 3: already in the hospital that you haven't signed up with,
- 7:33Speaker 3: I don't know how it works. So maybe I'm.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Not sure how that works either. I do know, Like
- 7:39Speaker 1: I was given a flood of information when I went
- 7:43Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago, got signed up with the provider.
- 7:47Speaker 1: So the way it works with the V with the
- 7:48Speaker 1: VA anyways, if you go, let's say I break my
- 7:51Speaker 1: arm and I go into the emergency room, my local
- 7:52Speaker 1: emergency room, I've got seventy two hours for myself or
- 7:56Speaker 1: my wife or somebody to call this eight hundred number. Okay,
- 8:00Speaker 1: lets them know, Hey, Scott's in the e in the er,
- 8:03Speaker 1: right And as long as I make that phone call
- 8:04Speaker 1: within seventy two hours, all the bills don't get go
- 8:08Speaker 1: to me, they go to the VA.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Oh okay, yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 1: So, and it all depends on your service connection. Like
- 8:15Speaker 1: I'm I'm service connected. I have service connected to disability,
- 8:19Speaker 1: so I'm technically a disabled veteran. And it all depends.
- 8:22Speaker 1: There's levels from ten percent actually from zero percent all
- 8:25Speaker 1: the way up to one hundred percent. And I'm thirty
- 8:27Speaker 1: percent a disabled veteran. That's the rating they give me
- 8:32Speaker 1: based on what's wrong with you, what service connected from
- 8:37Speaker 1: your deployments and being in the service and stuff like that.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And so there's a couple of magic numbers. Thirty percent
- 8:42Speaker 1: is a magic number because at thirty percent you start
- 8:45Speaker 1: getting more free healthcare. Fifty percent is another magic number
- 8:50Speaker 1: because then all your copays are taken care of. Oh,
- 8:53Speaker 1: it goes all the way up to one hundred percent.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So anybody, My biggest thing is anybody who's listening, who's
- 8:59Speaker 1: a veteran, who ever served, whether peace time or wartime,
- 9:02Speaker 1: doesn't matter. And all discharges from honorable discharge all the
- 9:08Speaker 1: way down to bad conduct discharge are eligible for uh
- 9:13Speaker 1: some kind of v A help. So and it's not
- 9:17Speaker 1: just medical stuff. They've got, you know, you know, psychological evails.
- 9:21Speaker 1: They've got medical, dental, they've got in fact, I've got
- 9:25Speaker 1: an appointment next month two uh for my orientation for
- 9:29Speaker 1: the Move program, which is a weight loss program. They've
- 9:33Speaker 1: got they've got dietitians and nutritionists and healthcare providers. They
- 9:38Speaker 1: do weight loss drugs, which are exorbitantly expensive for at
- 9:47Speaker 1: the VA. Depending on your disability level, they can be okay,
- 9:52Speaker 1: so yeah, get connected, welcome to vast.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 1: They the overall the overall thing is get yourself taken
- 10:02Speaker 1: care of, whether you're absolutely yeah, get yourself taken care of.
- 10:05Speaker 3: You deserve it if you served. So sick day, yeah, yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 3: it's not funny. It's not fun at all. But uh yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 3: I'm glad to be out. Still getting used to my
- 10:15Speaker 3: new meds. I'm a little bit woozy, but okay, that's
- 10:18Speaker 3: just the new meds. It's not anything wrong with me.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Sure.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, So all right, well we should with all that,
- 10:26Speaker 3: we should probably get to the news.
- 10:28Speaker 1: We got some Star Trek news.
- 10:29Speaker 3: We got to Star Trek news, so yeah, while it
- 10:32Speaker 3: has been a while, so let's get to it Star
- 10:35Speaker 3: Trek news. All right. So our first news scory comes
- 10:41Speaker 3: to us from Let's see where is it? What is
- 10:45Speaker 3: the name of this Star Trek movie dot com? Yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 3: I was reading this earlier. We were learning a little
- 10:50Speaker 3: bit more about the alleged Archer show, you know we've
- 10:55Speaker 3: been talking about. I guess it's gonna be called The
- 10:58Speaker 3: Star Trek United. I don't know. I also heard it
- 11:01Speaker 3: called Star Trek Archer, so whatever.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Okay, I'd love to see this.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Yeah, this is the show where Archer is now the
- 11:10Speaker 3: president of the the Federation. Yeah yeah, okay, everybody know
- 11:16Speaker 3: where we're at. So we're learning a little bit more. Uh. Basically,
- 11:20Speaker 3: they had an interview with one of the producers and
- 11:24Speaker 3: and basically what the pitch is going to be is
- 11:26Speaker 3: Archer is now the president. Uh, it's gonna be like
- 11:29Speaker 3: a West Wing style show. So they're they're kind of
- 11:32Speaker 3: hoping to make it like a like Star Trek's answer
- 11:34Speaker 3: to and Or is the goal?
- 11:37Speaker 1: Sure?
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but I have heard a lot of fans have
- 11:41Speaker 3: been rightly pointing out that, you know, you could argue
- 11:44Speaker 3: that the Star Trek's answer to and Or was DS nine.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I can see that. I can see that.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Yeah, like there's a good argument to that. So but
- 11:56Speaker 3: this would be more of a modern storytelling. It would
- 12:00Speaker 3: be Archer, it would be his family. The archerrets No,
- 12:05Speaker 3: I'm kidding, I'm sorry. Yeah, I was like, yeah, just
- 12:12Speaker 3: anody was paying attention. Yeah, the archerrets there. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 3: he's got he's got four adult kids. Each kid is
- 12:21Speaker 3: in a different member bridge of Starfleet. So he's got
- 12:24Speaker 3: like one into the Diplomacy Corps, he's got one in in
- 12:27Speaker 3: just like normal service. He's got one in what else
- 12:31Speaker 3: did they come up with? Maybe medical or something intelligence there?
- 12:35Speaker 3: It is intelligence. So basically, oh god, I don't know
- 12:44Speaker 3: when it went off the air. But the other the
- 12:49Speaker 3: other thing too about this series is it would start
- 12:53Speaker 3: just the first season right in the middle of the
- 12:55Speaker 3: Romulan War.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so that's kind of cool.
- 12:59Speaker 3: We never seen that, so and I.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Wouldn't mind it started in two thousand and one, so
- 13:05Speaker 1: must have been done two thousand and five. I wouldn't
- 13:10Speaker 1: mind a non ship or I know, D Space nine
- 13:16Speaker 1: is kind of the exception, a non ship centric ah series.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean it's not a bad concept.
- 13:26Speaker 1: No, no, it's gonna run across the same issues that
- 13:29Speaker 1: Star Wars has had. Anytime Star Wars comes out with
- 13:32Speaker 1: a movie or a show that doesn't have you know,
- 13:36Speaker 1: laser sword battles, right, you know, your your casual Star
- 13:42Speaker 1: Wars fans were like, I want to see laser swords,
- 13:44Speaker 1: and you're casual Star Trek fans are probably gonna want
- 13:47Speaker 1: to see you know, ships and phasers and you know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: away teams. But I would very much welcome this.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Yeah. So, so the the adult show will be primary
- 14:01Speaker 3: for the show. So that's really going to be your
- 14:03Speaker 3: main characters, Okay, And then like it would give opportunity
- 14:08Speaker 3: for they were mentioning that maybe they could have some
- 14:11Speaker 3: some returns from Enterprise depending you know. Yeah, so that
- 14:17Speaker 3: would be kind of cool. They even mentioned that maybe
- 14:21Speaker 3: even Jeffery Combs could come back, but they didn't know
- 14:24Speaker 3: if he would have come back as Shran or maybe
- 14:26Speaker 3: a new character or several characters. Yeah, several new characters, right, Yeah,
- 14:31Speaker 3: so it's cool. Yeah, I love this pitch. It sounds
- 14:35Speaker 3: like fun. I would love to hear more about it.
- 14:37Speaker 3: At least.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Well, I think the Romulan War would give it some action,
- 14:42Speaker 1: you know, because I think the West Wing, you know,
- 14:46Speaker 1: a Star Trek West Wing probably would be kind of boring.
- 14:49Speaker 1: But if the war was going on, because that's one
- 14:51Speaker 1: of the things that Star Trek is always you know,
- 14:54Speaker 1: you got to keep the action in it. Because I've
- 14:56Speaker 1: got a friend who's listening to the show right now
- 14:59Speaker 1: who's like, you know, Scott, I've tried to get into
- 15:01Speaker 1: Star Trek. But you know, when I was a kid,
- 15:04Speaker 1: when he was a kid, you know, him and his
- 15:05Speaker 1: brother would try to play Star Trek. It's it's difficult
- 15:09Speaker 1: to play Star Trek versus Star Wars, right, you know,
- 15:12Speaker 1: kids playing Star Wars that's easy. You grab a couple
- 15:15Speaker 1: of sticks, you swing lightsabers around. But you know, Star Trek,
- 15:18Speaker 1: it's it's it's a little more nuanced, a little more difficult.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Right right, So yeah, well, you know this is just
- 15:26Speaker 3: a pitch right now. To me, it feels like the
- 15:28Speaker 3: reason they're putting it out there like this is they're
- 15:30Speaker 3: trying to build up momentum to make it that that
- 15:33Speaker 3: paramount can't deny putting this on that like, look, look,
- 15:37Speaker 3: the fans have.
- 15:38Speaker 1: To have it, you know, right right.
- 15:41Speaker 3: What this feels like to me, it doesn't feel like
- 15:44Speaker 3: they're just breaking news stories. It feels like leaks more
- 15:48Speaker 3: than anything.
- 15:49Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, I get that.
- 15:51Speaker 3: We'll see what happens with that, But yeah, would you
- 15:56Speaker 3: want an.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Archer show me?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Oh?
- 15:59Speaker 1: Yeah? Number one. I loved I. I really liked the enterprise.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I thought it was too short lived. I think it
- 16:05Speaker 1: should have gone another at least another season. It should
- 16:09Speaker 1: have gotten up to It would have been nice to
- 16:11Speaker 1: get up to the Romulin War or at least more
- 16:17Speaker 1: because they rushed it at the end. They had that
- 16:19Speaker 1: final episode of These Are the Voyages, I think, yeah,
- 16:23Speaker 1: and it there was a timeline jump, and they had
- 16:26Speaker 1: to do a timeline jump because I think the original premise,
- 16:30Speaker 1: the original plan was to get there and they didn't
- 16:33Speaker 1: get there because they got canceled, so they had to
- 16:35Speaker 1: do a timeline jump, so it Yeah, I'd be interested.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I loved Enterprise, I loved Captain Archer.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Is there anything specific you'd like to see in this show?
- 16:44Speaker 1: Absolutely? I want them to and I've had a plan
- 16:49Speaker 1: for it the entire time. I want them to bring
- 16:52Speaker 1: a trip back.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Oh nice. Yeah, I handwave that he died and he
- 16:58Speaker 3: didn't die though, and I'll die on that hill.
- 17:01Speaker 1: The last time we saw him, he was being placed
- 17:04Speaker 1: into a field Stacy's field or or and the last
- 17:11Speaker 1: thing he did was give whoever was putting him in
- 17:13Speaker 1: there gave he literally looked up, gave him a wink,
- 17:16Speaker 1: and went in. They didn't specifically said he died. They
- 17:19Speaker 1: never talked about going to his memorial service. They just
- 17:22Speaker 1: put him in the stasis chamber and left it there.
- 17:25Speaker 3: M hm, So I know for me, Okay. So one
- 17:29Speaker 3: of the things in storytelling is your protagonist and your
- 17:33Speaker 3: antagonist should have some sort of relationship, right, like like
- 17:38Speaker 3: Scar is Simba's nephew, right uncle, Right, Darth Vader is
- 17:45Speaker 3: is Luke Skywalker's dad, right, some sort of relationship be
- 17:49Speaker 3: doing in the two. With that said, what I want
- 17:52Speaker 3: is I want I know it doesn't fit Cannon. Let's
- 17:55Speaker 3: let's just change things a little bit. I want No,
- 17:59Speaker 3: I want Borg Porthos, evil Borg Porthos.
- 18:03Speaker 2: All right, we will.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Do a backstory that Porthos is buried and some you know,
- 18:09Speaker 3: some planet because he passed away. Oh it's so sad.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Before pick him up, you know, assimilate him, and all
- 18:16Speaker 3: of a sudden, Borg Porthos is here. Oh no, evil
- 18:19Speaker 3: captain Borg Porthos.
- 18:22Speaker 1: So oh yeah, God, the fan base will hate you
- 18:25Speaker 1: if that actually happens.
- 18:27Speaker 3: You can have the robot talking dog, you know, just
- 18:31Speaker 3: I'm gonna get you Archer.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that would explain why he lives so long.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah. And then and then what's great is because.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Because they have that relationship, Arthur, Archer knows how to
- 18:43Speaker 3: stop him. And so when like shooting at him doesn't
- 18:46Speaker 3: work anymore, Archer will be like, oh, we'll send him cheese.
- 18:49Speaker 2: That don't stop him, Yeah he can. Borg Porthos can.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Be stopped with cheese, cheese, and then the dogs shaking
- 18:59Speaker 3: his lot get you next time, Archer.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Somebody in somebody in the chat or in the online
- 19:06Speaker 1: universe has to use AI to to make that es.
- 19:10Speaker 1: We want to see it. I want to see please, yes, yes.
- 19:17Speaker 3: All right, So our next two story comes to us
- 19:19Speaker 3: from screen rant, let me bring this up here, and
- 19:23Speaker 3: you know it's a shame dance not here for this
- 19:25Speaker 3: because I think he would really enjoy this. But we
- 19:28Speaker 3: are learning a certain ghost Sbuster Star originally auditioned to
- 19:35Speaker 3: be Cisco. So when I say Cisco, there's really only
- 19:40Speaker 3: one ghost Suster start.
- 19:44Speaker 1: It's not the guy who played Lewis Tully.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, that's right, Rick Brannon. No,
- 19:52Speaker 3: apparently Ernie Hudson was interviewed by Bleeding Pool and he
- 19:57Speaker 3: talked about how, yeah, years ago he did audition for Cisco.
- 20:03Speaker 1: So I don't think it would have been bad.
- 20:06Speaker 2: No, I don't think so either. It would have been
- 20:08Speaker 2: different for sure.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know if Cisco would have been as intense,
- 20:14Speaker 3: maybe because Ernie doesn't strike me as as intense.
- 20:18Speaker 1: No, it would have been a low if there was anger,
- 20:21Speaker 1: you know, or that it would be more of a
- 20:24Speaker 1: low simmery.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, but but yeah.
- 20:30Speaker 1: It's just every Brooks did have some a bit of
- 20:34Speaker 1: Shatner in him, right, you know.
- 20:39Speaker 3: So yeah, so yeah, go smister star Ernie Hudson. Yeah,
- 20:42Speaker 3: if I didn't make it clear, was originally going to
- 20:45Speaker 3: audition for Cisco, but yeah, it just didn't work out. Uh.
- 20:49Speaker 3: The reason he brought this up, Like I said, he's
- 20:50Speaker 3: been interviewed in Bleeding Cool, but he's been interviewed because
- 20:53Speaker 3: he's on some new show with snekl Martin Green. What
- 20:57Speaker 3: is it like, Boston Blue?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Oh? Oh, that's right, that's right, you know, And I'm
- 21:02Speaker 1: kind of looking forward to that because i just started
- 21:05Speaker 1: a marathon of Blue Bloods. I've seen my mother in
- 21:10Speaker 1: law has watched it, and I've sort of seen it
- 21:13Speaker 1: in the background and I've seen a lot of tiktoks lately.
- 21:15Speaker 1: So a couple of months ago, I started watching Blue Bloods.
- 21:18Speaker 1: It's fourteen seasons long, and I'm well, you know, I
- 21:22Speaker 1: listened to it. I watched it at work on lunch
- 21:23Speaker 1: and stuff like that. Yeah, I'm just chilling. So I'm
- 21:25Speaker 1: about halfway through the series right now, and it's really
- 21:30Speaker 1: it's captivating, Okay, very captivating. It's the kind of thing
- 21:34Speaker 1: where Blue Bloods is a type of show where like
- 21:38Speaker 1: you can't wait to turn the TV on or the
- 21:41Speaker 1: phone on so you can catch the rest of the episode.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Of the next episode, it's it's really really good.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Oh nice. Okay, Well, I wish i'd known. I would
- 21:49Speaker 3: have watched it while I was in the osital I
- 21:50Speaker 3: had nothing to do. So will ours is Ernie would
- 21:56Speaker 3: have made it a good at Cisco?
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you would have.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Sure, yep, yeah, I agree, Yeah, all right, agreed. And
- 22:05Speaker 3: then our last news story. You know, I bring this
- 22:10Speaker 3: up just because I'm a big fan, but then I
- 22:12Speaker 3: recently read that it is a multi billion dollar game,
- 22:15Speaker 3: so yeah, it's it's popular. Magic the Gathering announced recently
- 22:20Speaker 3: all their upcoming sets for next year, and one of
- 22:23Speaker 3: the upcoming sets end of next year, whether we want
- 22:27Speaker 3: it or not, Star Trek Magic the Gathering. So we're
- 22:32Speaker 3: gonna get a little bit of magic in Star Trek,
- 22:34Speaker 3: set to release in November twenty six. So this had
- 22:38Speaker 3: been suspected for a while. They recently introduced the concept
- 22:42Speaker 3: of spaceships in Magic the Gathering, because what else do
- 22:46Speaker 3: you need in your fantasy world in spaceships? And so
- 22:49Speaker 3: absolutely yeah, And because they interviewed that, they brought that in.
- 22:53Speaker 3: They figured out Star Trek's coming at some point, and
- 22:55Speaker 3: now they all have it. So there you go.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Have you played Magic?
- 23:01Speaker 3: Oh? I play it. Yeah, it's it's become quite the
- 23:06Speaker 3: different game. But yes, are you gonna say something about
- 23:10Speaker 3: that or well?
- 23:11Speaker 1: I yeah, I I don't you know, just because it's
- 23:16Speaker 1: got Star Trek attached to it, Yeah, it doesn't, you know,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I don't you know. It's like it's like Sheldon said,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I I don't like novelty versions of Monopoly. I like
- 23:27Speaker 1: regular and Klingon I I I don't. I won't pick
- 23:32Speaker 1: something up just because it's Star Trek. I won't collect
- 23:35Speaker 1: a thing just because it's Star Trek. I'm not into
- 23:37Speaker 1: Star Trek Legos. I'm not, you know, Star Trek Magic,
- 23:40Speaker 1: the Gathering, I'm not into. But if you're already into
- 23:43Speaker 1: Magic then and you're into Star Trek, I I can
- 23:47Speaker 1: kind of see the appeal. I've played Magic maybe five times.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I've got a couple of decks that my my friend
- 23:54Speaker 1: put together for me. I'm it's it's it's a fun game.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I just I just don't play very often. So yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 1: I would, I would. I would. Yeah, I'd venture to
- 24:02Speaker 1: say if you're if you do play Magic already and
- 24:04Speaker 1: you're a Star Trek fan, which if you're listening to
- 24:06Speaker 1: the show, you probably are a Star Trek fan. Then yeah,
- 24:08Speaker 1: I'd say give this a go. I guess the cost
- 24:11Speaker 1: would be a consideration, Like I'm not sure how you know,
- 24:15Speaker 1: if you'd have to build a deck from randomly buying
- 24:17Speaker 1: packages or if you could just buy, you know, a
- 24:21Speaker 1: pre made deck, right, I don't even know if that's
- 24:23Speaker 1: a thing. Can you buy a pre made deck?
- 24:25Speaker 2: That's yeah, yeah you can.
- 24:26Speaker 3: They're called pre cons.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Pre cons Okay, yeah, so yeah, if they had a
- 24:29Speaker 1: pre I might be interested in buying a pre con,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you know, But I also don't know about compatibility. Would
- 24:40Speaker 1: would would you would all the players have to be
- 24:44Speaker 1: playing Magic Star Trek or no?
- 24:46Speaker 3: No. That's so that's the thing about Magic, right, It's
- 24:49Speaker 3: all it's all this fantasy world, right, So any of
- 24:53Speaker 3: the sets play with all the other sets. Okay, so yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 3: but the joke has been lately. So in Magic, the
- 25:02Speaker 3: whole reason that they bring in these other franchises they
- 25:04Speaker 3: call it universes beyond, right, because the idea in Magic
- 25:08Speaker 3: is you're going to different universes on your magical journey.
- 25:11Speaker 3: So so that's why it's a magical realm. And so
- 25:15Speaker 3: through the universes beyond they've got to bring in like
- 25:18Speaker 3: Lord of the Rings or Doctor Who or Jurassic Park, Transformers,
- 25:24Speaker 3: my Little Pony, like literally all of these are health
- 25:27Speaker 3: pretty close.
- 25:30Speaker 2: They literally just did a job.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Yeah, a little while ago they did a Ghostbusters drop,
- 25:35Speaker 3: or they did cards, right, so you you can literally
- 25:39Speaker 3: build a deck right now and be like, all right,
- 25:41Speaker 3: I'm gonna attack you with my SpongeBob and I'm gonna
- 25:43Speaker 3: equip him with the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy and swing.
- 25:47Speaker 1: At your the mechanics of the game, which I barely understand,
- 25:51Speaker 1: the mechanics of the game with all the things down
- 25:53Speaker 1: to the bottom of the numbers and the symbols are
- 25:55Speaker 1: the same, just using nomenclature from that universe.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Right right, So so yeah, so you'll you'll be able
- 26:03Speaker 3: to use your your Star Trek cards with your other
- 26:05Speaker 3: cards and build your deck.
- 26:06Speaker 1: It's fun to build a what you call a pre
- 26:09Speaker 1: made deck.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Yeah and yeah, and that's the thing.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Like, so just a week ago they released their first
- 26:17Speaker 3: ever Spider Man set, so all the cards are inspired
- 26:21Speaker 3: by Spider Man and they surprisingly did not come out
- 26:26Speaker 3: with pre cons, which it's very rare on on a
- 26:31Speaker 3: big what they would think would be a a an
- 26:36Speaker 3: excited popular deck or serious as cards. They would normally
- 26:39Speaker 3: do precns, but they didn't for this one for some reason.
- 26:42Speaker 2: So we don't know if.
- 26:43Speaker 3: There will be pre cons for Star Trek. They might
- 26:45Speaker 3: not because there's more money and you buying packs and
- 26:48Speaker 3: having to build.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Your own and I get that, but I you know,
- 26:51Speaker 1: there's a slight possibility, a slight possibility that I would
- 26:55Speaker 1: buy a pre made deck so that when my you know,
- 26:58Speaker 1: my friends that I do know that played magic, would
- 27:01Speaker 1: you get together, I would play?
- 27:02Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, and they've made Yeah, they made pre pre
- 27:07Speaker 3: cons of Doctor Who, right, and they made them a
- 27:09Speaker 3: Lord of the Rings. So imagine being able to play
- 27:12Speaker 3: your friend, your Doctor Who friend versus you and your
- 27:15Speaker 3: Star Trek cards.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd have to reacquaint myself with the mechanics of
- 27:18Speaker 1: the game. It's not a terrible difficult game to learn.
- 27:22Speaker 1: And no, it's not somebody like me. I've got ADHD,
- 27:25Speaker 1: so it's very difficult. Like there's no way that somebody
- 27:28Speaker 1: could ever teach me how to play Hearts or Peanuckle
- 27:30Speaker 1: or right or anything like that, because I've I've tried
- 27:33Speaker 1: to play those kinds of games, and once you get
- 27:36Speaker 1: past rule number two, I'm lost, right, but I was
- 27:39Speaker 1: able to learn magic. But yeah, I would tell the
- 27:41Speaker 1: people that are making this, just from my point of view,
- 27:45Speaker 1: if you make a pre made deck, there is a
- 27:47Speaker 1: slight chance I will buy it. If I have to
- 27:50Speaker 1: try to make my own deck, I'm out.
- 27:53Speaker 3: I want them to do it right, Like do like
- 27:55Speaker 3: a Federation deck, do a Klingon deck, do a Romulin deck.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you have all that. Yeah that's a
- 28:02Speaker 1: good idea. Yeah.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm excited for this. I love I love Star Trek.
- 28:07Speaker 3: I like magic. Well I get all the cards? Probably not,
- 28:11Speaker 3: but maybe I'll get a deck just for fun.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it'd be fun. Like I got a couple of friends, Yeah,
- 28:16Speaker 1: Gabe and Steve, they all, they all play. We all
- 28:20Speaker 1: we've gotten together a couple of times. It's been a
- 28:23Speaker 1: while but yeah.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yeah cool. All right, Well that's all the news stories.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Should we get to our main topic?
- 28:34Speaker 1: Yeah? I got a question, a reason why I'm mirrored.
- 28:37Speaker 3: You're mirrored?
- 28:39Speaker 1: Yeah, look at my shirt it says Starfleet Academy. It
- 28:42Speaker 1: looks normal to me, it does? It looks it looks
- 28:45Speaker 1: mirrored to me.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, no, it looks fine on mine then okay, okay,
- 28:50Speaker 3: well yeah, let's go to the main topic. Fun.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Well, now come back, let's commenced this fun.
- 29:01Speaker 3: It's right, So we are reviewing Star Trek Cohn the
- 29:07Speaker 3: audio drama for the twenty twenty six or twenty twenty
- 29:11Speaker 3: five whatever. It's it's weird that audio dramas are back
- 29:16Speaker 3: and big again, but you know, it is.
- 29:17Speaker 1: What I'm digging it.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah, So it's been out for for a few weeks now,
- 29:23Speaker 3: it's what the fourth this will be the fifth week
- 29:26Speaker 3: coming out soon tomorrow maybe Yep.
- 29:30Speaker 1: There's nine episodes all together.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Yeah, there's nine episodes that runs through November, so we're
- 29:35Speaker 3: right at the halfway point. Basically, we're four episodes in.
- 29:39Speaker 3: There's nine totals, so yeah, right around half.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 3: So this is all what like the backstory of what
- 29:47Speaker 3: happened to con when he was set on a SETI
- 29:50Speaker 3: off of five.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Yeah. So the story basically takes place. It's it's told
- 29:55Speaker 1: through the lens of there's uh after the event of
- 30:01Speaker 1: Star Trek two. There's a sort of an historian who's
- 30:06Speaker 1: trying to piece together everything that happened to Khn during
- 30:10Speaker 1: the time between Space Seed and star Trek two. Okay,
- 30:15Speaker 1: and and she is actually I don't know, I don't
- 30:19Speaker 1: remember if she's a civilian or if she's a star fleet.
- 30:21Speaker 1: But she's serving on the the Excelsior. And this is
- 30:26Speaker 1: the excels here where George de Kay aka Sulu is
- 30:31Speaker 1: a captain and hearkening back to an episode of Voyager,
- 30:36Speaker 1: Lieutenant Tuvac, I'm sorry, Tuvac is an ensign aboard the Excelsior.
- 30:41Speaker 1: So it stars Tim Russ and George k. Yeah, but
- 30:49Speaker 1: they're not in it a ton. They're just just sort
- 30:52Speaker 1: of bad.
- 30:52Speaker 3: They're not in it a ton. But what I also
- 30:54Speaker 3: really liked is they don't make you wait, like they
- 30:57Speaker 3: don't make you wait like five episodes till you hear Tuvac.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Right, yep, Yeah, he's there.
- 31:02Speaker 3: They sprinkle him in here and there, right, so it
- 31:05Speaker 3: feels like he's in there more than what he actually is.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Right. Yeah, I'm glad that. I'm also glad that they
- 31:13Speaker 1: didn't make it just about him and right and the
- 31:16Speaker 1: two main characters. It's very much a its own independent story.
- 31:20Speaker 1: But so basically you've got this historian, a doctor okay
- 31:29Speaker 1: us Rosalind Lear. She's a doctor from the twenty two
- 31:32Speaker 1: nineties who discovers lost history logs pertaining to Khan. She's
- 31:37Speaker 1: trying to basically set the record straight because in Star
- 31:42Speaker 1: Trek Lower Cohn is this evil, genetically engineered basically dictator,
- 31:48Speaker 1: and she's trying to just establish what Kan actually was like,
- 31:54Speaker 1: because you know, he was a leader, and so she
- 31:58Speaker 1: finds she's basically trying to get permission to go back
- 32:00Speaker 1: to City Alpha five to retrieve basically log entries from
- 32:08Speaker 1: Marla mcgivers Marlon mcgivers was from the original series. She's
- 32:12Speaker 1: the one that went that resigned from Starfleet and went
- 32:16Speaker 1: down with KHN and the other genetically and enhanced humans
- 32:19Speaker 1: on City Alpha five to establish a colony, right basically,
- 32:25Speaker 1: so yeah, it's Navine Andrews's con does a great job.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Warren Schmidt is Marla mcgivers. Now, for those of you
- 32:36Speaker 1: who have ever seen For All Mankind, Warren Schmidt is
- 32:42Speaker 1: the redhead in For All Mankind. She eventually becomes the
- 32:46Speaker 1: NASA like director. Okay, so that's where I know her from.
- 32:51Speaker 1: And then Sonia for All Mankind. For All Mankind is fantastic.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, because it popped up in my Apple and
- 33:01Speaker 3: I was about to start for.
- 33:02Speaker 1: All for all mankind is absolutely amazing. A real quick
- 33:05Speaker 1: sidebar for all mankind is it's an alternative history if
- 33:10Speaker 1: the Russians had beaten us to the moon. Oh okay,
- 33:13Speaker 1: So it basically once we got to the moon, the
- 33:16Speaker 1: space race was pretty much it kind of fizzled out
- 33:19Speaker 1: right right. You know, we eventually went on to the
- 33:22Speaker 1: to the Shuttle program, but after we beat the Russians
- 33:26Speaker 1: to the moon, we're like, okay, we're number one, and
- 33:28Speaker 1: then it fizzled out with this. The Russians beat us
- 33:30Speaker 1: to the moon by a matter of days, and then
- 33:33Speaker 1: we never stopped the space race. So you can imagine
- 33:36Speaker 1: that a space race that continued on into the nineties,
- 33:39Speaker 1: and each season is basically a decade of the space race,
- 33:44Speaker 1: the sixties, the seventies, the eighties, the nineties, and and
- 33:48Speaker 1: it shows the progress that we would have or could
- 33:51Speaker 1: have made had we focused on, you know, getting to
- 33:56Speaker 1: the Moon and then going to Mars.
- 33:58Speaker 3: And yeah, so it's really good. Yeah An says good morning, Hey,
- 34:02Speaker 3: good morning.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Man, good morning.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:06Speaker 1: So uh back, go on, yes, so yeah, do you
- 34:10Speaker 1: listen to all four episodes?
- 34:12Speaker 3: Yep, yep. So we we I listened to all four.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Uh they're not individualistic, right there, They're chapters in a book.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Mm hmm, so, which is kind of nice. I like it, man,
- 34:25Speaker 3: I think it's a it's a fun story.
- 34:27Speaker 1: I did too, Yeah, I did too.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's it's well done. I think the
- 34:35Speaker 3: voice acting also like the novelty of listening to like
- 34:40Speaker 3: a radio play in the times.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's fun. It's fun. It's a little different than
- 34:46Speaker 1: listening to just just an audio book because there's sound
- 34:49Speaker 1: effects and it's I think it's very well produced. Even
- 34:54Speaker 1: though Alex Kurtzman's involved, Yes, presently, it's not a complete
- 34:58Speaker 1: train wreck.
- 34:59Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, I mean it's no Star Trek Scouts.
- 35:05Speaker 1: But you know it's now no Star Trek Scouts.
- 35:07Speaker 3: I mean nothing.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I'm I'm slowly becoming a huge fan of Star Trek Scouts.
- 35:13Speaker 1: That is, I haven't seen a single episode, but right,
- 35:16Speaker 1: as you should just based on what you've said, you should.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Not watch an episode.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Your your humanity, your human mind cannot comprehend its glory.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Right but exactly, you know, exactly.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Image, But.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I'm not gonna watch.
- 35:30Speaker 3: It's just worship of Star Trek Scouts. As you should Oh.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Absolutely, Yeah, I'm enjoying it. I can't wait. I think
- 35:39Speaker 1: we should do another little episode after when the whole
- 35:42Speaker 1: thing's done. But another thing we should mention this is
- 35:45Speaker 1: a it's called an audiobook or audio podcast. This is free.
- 35:49Speaker 1: You can find it anywhere you get podcasts. Uh. Yeah,
- 35:52Speaker 1: I've been I've been listening to it on YouTube.
- 35:54Speaker 3: So yeah, Will ours and he watches it on on
- 35:56Speaker 3: on the YouTube channel on his shop TV, and he
- 35:59Speaker 3: finds him of wanting to look at the action.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I know, well started out as a as a mini
- 36:05Speaker 1: series and they just decided that they can't. They didn't
- 36:10Speaker 1: have the budget for it. Also, the one of the
- 36:13Speaker 1: primary writers is David Macy. Okay, David Mack's done The
- 36:22Speaker 1: Star Trek. He's a he's a novelist, right, uh, and
- 36:26Speaker 1: I've I've read several of his of his books. A
- 36:28Speaker 1: good writer.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Yeah. So they say it's based off of a story
- 36:34Speaker 3: by Nicholas Meyer, who originally wrote or you know, Convenge Con.
- 36:42Speaker 3: But I don't know if that means he laid out
- 36:46Speaker 3: like a story for them or because his con is
- 36:49Speaker 3: the original.
- 36:50Speaker 1: So I I think I think when they say based
- 36:53Speaker 1: off of his stories, I think It's kind of like
- 36:55Speaker 1: when when a Superman movie comes out and says, based
- 36:57Speaker 1: off the stories of Joe Schuster, and you know, I
- 37:00Speaker 1: don't think Nicholas Meyer had anything to do with this.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Plus Nick Meyer is like one hundred and four So
- 37:07Speaker 1: that's right, that's right.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Yeah, they had to take amount of stags to get
- 37:10Speaker 3: going on that.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I mean, he was middle aged when he did The
- 37:14Speaker 1: Wrath of God.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Right, right, So yeah, but yeah, so so we're four
- 37:22Speaker 3: episodes in. They're each what like forty five minutes? Maybe
- 37:27Speaker 3: I don't.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Think they're that long. Yeah, this one was like twenty
- 37:30Speaker 1: or twenty five.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right here.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I'm thinking of stuff.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Yes, if you're like me, if you're impatient like me,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I I might even wait until you can just you know,
- 37:40Speaker 1: they gang listened to all of them. Yeah, but uh,
- 37:49Speaker 1: Alejandro says, been waiting to ask whatever happened to uh
- 37:53Speaker 1: the Muppets episode in Stranger Worlds. I must have fallen
- 37:55Speaker 1: asleep missed it. No you didn't. Even though we've seen
- 37:58Speaker 1: screenshots of this as early as earlier this year, that's
- 38:02Speaker 1: not coming out until season four.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Of right, whenever that comes out.
- 38:07Speaker 1: So and and I I know the name of the
- 38:10Speaker 1: episode already. The episode did leak. I've got a source.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Oh the episode named me yep star Trek Strangey World.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Season four, the episode is called Jumped the Shark. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:25Speaker 1: Jumped the Shark.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Nice? Nice yeah yeah yeah.
- 38:32Speaker 1: So I don't know where these writers are coming from,
- 38:36Speaker 1: Like they must be coming from. They must have grabbed
- 38:38Speaker 1: writers from like Legends of Tomorrow, because Legends of Tomorrow
- 38:42Speaker 1: from the CW the they did.
- 38:45Speaker 3: All sorts of wonky stuff like that.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, they're the DC TV show. Uh, they did it.
- 38:51Speaker 1: They did a Buppets episode. Yeah, they episode.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they realized nobody was watching and they.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Could just do, Hey, anybody got any crazy ideas? Yeah yeah,
- 39:01Speaker 1: the guys sleep on the floor was like, I got one.
- 39:04Speaker 1: I like Muppets.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Absolutely, but.
- 39:12Speaker 3: Oh god.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 39:17Speaker 3: So let's see. Uh. So they're they're checking out those logs.
- 39:22Speaker 3: They're trying to find the real backstory of what happened
- 39:25Speaker 3: with Kaan. So we're learning a little bit more about
- 39:28Speaker 3: con and his group, how they saw him, how they
- 39:33Speaker 3: you know, brought SETI off a five to life.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Yeah that was the wrong movie. Mark. Mark's messing with me,
- 39:50Speaker 1: He said, the wrath of Con reminds us that not
- 39:52Speaker 1: everyone's gentle as are the same.
- 39:54Speaker 3: That's right, Yeah, that's right.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Mark Mark is a friend of Yeah, okay, him and
- 40:02Speaker 1: I we met in class. What was the class called? Mark? What? What?
- 40:07Speaker 1: What classes we meet in?
- 40:09Speaker 3: Oh?
- 40:09Speaker 1: That's right, kindergarten. Oh god, we actually met in kindergarten.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Oh no, I feel I feel like when we do feedback,
- 40:17Speaker 3: Marker should come on.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I I oh boy, yeah, Mark, Mark, go get a
- 40:24Speaker 1: webcam into mic want you on? Absolutely?
- 40:28Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 40:30Speaker 1: So yeah, so star Trek Con.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Uh.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I liked it. I'm looking forward to the to the next. Yeah.
- 40:38Speaker 3: It's pretty straightforward, guys, there's really not not a lot
- 40:42Speaker 3: of it's not it's not controversial. It's just a fun,
- 40:47Speaker 3: interesting story. It's it doesn't change things too much.
- 40:52Speaker 1: It's just except maybe people's opinion about Con. Yeah, you know,
- 40:57Speaker 1: it's gonna like anything else. It's I think it's it's
- 41:00Speaker 1: gonna humanize him.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Oh snap, you got it. Get ready people.
- 41:09Speaker 1: So yeah, I think I think, uh, people are gonna
- 41:13Speaker 1: stop hating Con.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Yeah he did kind of.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I mean, even without this story, he did kind of
- 41:22Speaker 1: get a raw deal, right, kind of had a point uh.
- 41:25Speaker 1: City Alpha six exploded yeah, six months after Kirk left
- 41:29Speaker 1: him there, Yeah, which turned city off of five, which
- 41:33Speaker 1: was already you know, not great because of the city
- 41:36Speaker 1: Alpha eels and turned it into a barren wasteland and
- 41:40Speaker 1: Kirk starfleet. They never checked on him. Yeah for twenty years. Yeah,
- 41:47Speaker 1: so Kirk done him dirty, and I can imagine why
- 41:50Speaker 1: he was pissed. Yeah, you know that doesn't excuse his
- 41:55Speaker 1: actions in Space Seed.
- 41:57Speaker 3: But you know, oh man, the people or want Mark.
- 42:02Speaker 3: I agree, bring him on the story details about stronger,
- 42:05Speaker 3: bring on the juicy story time. Oh snap, oh there
- 42:09Speaker 3: are some stories.
- 42:10Speaker 2: I can wait. So yeah.
- 42:16Speaker 3: But but the Star Trek Con story though, yes, enjoy
- 42:19Speaker 3: it people. It's it's out where we I mean, you

- 43:43Speaker 1: giving out these awesome star Yeah these Trek cast stickers. Yeah,
- 43:48Speaker 1: these are really cool. I really like these. They're they're
- 43:50Speaker 1: finally like, they're good quality, they're vinyl.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Oh nice.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Dea has already put one on the car, so wow, Okay,
- 43:57Speaker 1: missus Strongbeard has one on our car already, so right on, absolutely.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Right on. Oh he already axed up in the chat
- 44:05Speaker 3: Jazz biz, So what let me show Let me let
- 44:09Speaker 3: me as show you though what he oh here we go.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, he just popped in, so let me get
- 44:14Speaker 3: it in.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Hey jazz biz.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, yeah, we came to you first.
- 44:24Speaker 2: I saw it. I saw in the baseball group, so.
- 44:27Speaker 4: Let me Yeah, the first one I made, the dog
- 44:30Speaker 4: had a unit. So yeah, he was definitely male, and
- 44:34Speaker 4: I was like, well, I get a unit, use that one.
- 44:39Speaker 4: So I just typed a beagle dog and for some reason,
- 44:43Speaker 4: like the A, I decided to focus in on that.
- 44:46Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, well he's a boy, all right. He's
- 44:49Speaker 3: a good boy.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a good boy like Gineer.
- 45:04Speaker 2: I love that he's just coming to take over.
- 45:10Speaker 3: You know.
- 45:10Speaker 1: That reminds me of I've I've read some Star Trek
- 45:12Speaker 1: novels that had the Borg in them, and humanoids are
- 45:16Speaker 1: in the Star Trek novels are not the only species
- 45:19Speaker 1: they assimilate. So they've they've had you know, like multi
- 45:24Speaker 1: limbed species and and and I'm not even sure if
- 45:28Speaker 1: they necessarily need to assimilate sentient you know, beings, because
- 45:34Speaker 1: there's just there's stuff that like, you know, panthers are
- 45:37Speaker 1: able to do that we can't climb up trees and
- 45:40Speaker 1: run row fasts and stuff like that. There are animals
- 45:42Speaker 1: out there that physically are much superior than humans, so
- 45:46Speaker 1: it would make sense that, you know, if they can
- 45:48Speaker 1: control the minds of these you.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Know, creatures like an octopus with the tentacle.
- 45:52Speaker 1: There you go. Well, I specifically remember a like an
- 45:55Speaker 1: eight limbed creature that operates something to Borg some Borg vessels.
- 46:00Speaker 4: Mm hm, I mean just a vulcan. If you a
- 46:04Speaker 4: Borg took over a vulcan had that mind or or
- 46:08Speaker 4: you know Clinton Hans or nauskens or.
- 46:11Speaker 1: I want to see them assimilate like a duch.
- 46:14Speaker 4: Could assimilate a changeling. What a change?
- 46:23Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, that's cool. I wondered that one too. I
- 46:27Speaker 3: would think so.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Think if they could, they would have, especially since.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Could get in there right right, That's what I was thinking.
- 46:33Speaker 3: The nanads could get in there.
- 46:35Speaker 1: But would they be able to do anything?
- 46:37Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 46:38Speaker 4: That's a good question.
- 46:39Speaker 1: You can motor oil, but that would that make the.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Motor oil because ds N I never had any Borg.
- 46:45Speaker 1: So well, and keep keeping mind, season three of the
- 46:47Speaker 1: card was all about the Borg and the founders. Some
- 46:51Speaker 1: of the founders changelings working together.
- 46:53Speaker 4: I mean, just imagine if that's that'd be kind of cool.
- 47:01Speaker 1: It would be like the T one thousand.
- 47:03Speaker 4: Yes, it'd be like yeah, it would be like that. Yeah, Yeah,
- 47:05Speaker 4: you're right.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Yeah, have the music.
- 47:14Speaker 1: That's imagine gathering game.
- 47:19Speaker 3: I would love that game.
- 47:21Speaker 2: A jazz was Have you listened to uh, sirgrin?
- 47:25Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, what do you think of it?
- 47:27Speaker 5: Uh?
- 47:28Speaker 4: Don't listen to it on two times to eat of course,
- 47:30Speaker 4: because that's kind of it's all right, Yeah, I like it.
- 47:35Speaker 4: I think it's you know, you're listened to more of
- 47:37Speaker 4: the background. I thought the planet they were on was
- 47:40Speaker 4: very desolate and barren, like when you see the movie
- 47:44Speaker 4: m like and I thought that's why you were so angry.
- 47:47Speaker 4: It sounds like the planet at least was somewhat lovable.
- 47:51Speaker 3: It sounds like it is at first, and I think, yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 3: then all goes.
- 47:54Speaker 1: To yeah after City Alpha six explodes. YEA from dialogue
- 48:01Speaker 1: from for the checkoff set on in the movie changed
- 48:04Speaker 1: the gravitational or orbit of which I'm still you know.
- 48:09Speaker 1: They brought it up to why was Chekhov and was
- 48:12Speaker 1: what's his face? Confused about what planet they were on?
- 48:14Speaker 1: And started two.
- 48:16Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 48:16Speaker 1: If City Alpha one, two, three, four, five, six exploded,
- 48:22Speaker 1: would they think they were on City Alpha six if
- 48:26Speaker 1: they went to this if they if they thought they
- 48:30Speaker 1: were going to the sixth planet, they would have accidentally
- 48:33Speaker 1: gone to City Alfa seven, right, right, So that that
- 48:37Speaker 1: dialogue never made any sense to me.
- 48:39Speaker 4: There's little potholes right there, and now they're I don't know,
- 48:43Speaker 4: how do you fix that pothole? Like was their scanners
- 48:45Speaker 4: down or you know, they just got it wrong.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Well, nothing you could do about it. In order to
- 48:54Speaker 1: mistake it. You would have had to have a planet
- 48:56Speaker 1: before City Alpha.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Yes, exactly.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Warship and they get the city off of four and
- 49:04Speaker 1: they accidentally got the city off of five.
- 49:06Speaker 4: Yeah, so what was the city off of six?
- 49:09Speaker 3: Right? Mm hmm.
- 49:11Speaker 1: They were trying to get the city off of six? Yes, yes,
- 49:14Speaker 1: it would turn city off of five in the city
- 49:16Speaker 1: out of four, guys.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Like thats how the discussion was on this ship, like
- 49:20Speaker 4: which one are we on? We'll just land.
- 49:25Speaker 6: Just getting Yeah, I don't know, I'm not that Yeah,
- 49:33Speaker 6: yeah I get the war.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you do deserve the NERD alert.
- 49:40Speaker 4: Yes, you're going deep in warning warning.
- 49:44Speaker 3: NERD alert, NERD alert there you go.
- 49:50Speaker 4: I just think enjoy it.
- 49:51Speaker 3: Yeah, what happened to your friend? He hasn't showed up yet.
- 49:56Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah that might be for that might
- 49:59Speaker 1: be the best.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Maybe maybe maybe.
- 50:04Speaker 1: All right, are you looking forward to the Is there
- 50:07Speaker 1: anything uh jazz business? Is there anything that you're specifically
- 50:10Speaker 1: looking for in the final five episodes? Something you want
- 50:13Speaker 1: to know?
- 50:14Speaker 4: More action more? You know, it's kind of slower. I
- 50:19Speaker 4: would say, you know.
- 50:20Speaker 1: There because there's dialogue in Star Trek two that talks
- 50:26Speaker 1: about the eels and he specifically says that this that
- 50:32Speaker 1: that species killed twenty of his men and his wife.
- 50:36Speaker 4: So how many people, Well we know who his wife's
- 50:38Speaker 4: going to be, so yeah, yeah, she's kind of yep and.
- 50:44Speaker 3: Right now in this word she's pregnant with this kid.
- 50:46Speaker 1: That's right spoiler.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:50Speaker 4: So and then I love how many people are there?
- 50:53Speaker 4: Is there like ninety or one hundred on there?
- 50:58Speaker 3: I think it's less than one hundred.
- 50:59Speaker 4: Okay, they laying on the planet and there's like we're
- 51:04Speaker 4: gonna build a colisseum and like.
- 51:08Speaker 1: You guys, I think that.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Yeah. I was like, you guys need to find out
- 51:11Speaker 4: how to make food.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Isn't there like seventy of them or something.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Also, are they all genetically enhanced? All of CON's people generated?
- 51:18Speaker 4: Okay, well the one wasn't and then did he kill him?
- 51:22Speaker 4: I forget what happened? Like, yeah, I'm trying to remember
- 51:26Speaker 4: the second episode because now because another thing I was
- 51:30Speaker 4: confused by is like there are in Star Trek two.
- 51:34Speaker 4: There are there's Con who's old, and then there's his
- 51:38Speaker 4: his his people with most of the people were Tippindale dancers,
- 51:43Speaker 4: which is why they look the way they do.
- 51:44Speaker 1: But they're all young twenties. So I'm assuming that that
- 51:50Speaker 1: all the young'ins from Star Trek two are people that
- 51:54Speaker 1: are going to be born during the show, do you think? So, okay,
- 52:00Speaker 1: you have been They all look.
- 52:01Speaker 4: Like twenty year olds and Chippendale dancers.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's twenty years between Space Seed and Wrath
- 52:10Speaker 1: of Cohn. Yeah, So where did all the young'ins come from? Yeah?
- 52:16Speaker 4: And where they get all from from? All the protein shakes?
- 52:19Speaker 4: I mean but where?
- 52:20Speaker 1: Yeah, where are they getting all the protein from? Is
- 52:28Speaker 1: CON's wife just going to give you know, give birth
- 52:30Speaker 1: like forty times?
- 52:32Speaker 4: Oh my god, Well on a planet like that, you'd
- 52:35Speaker 4: have to, you know, if you're trying.
- 52:38Speaker 1: To if you're trying to everybody, every every wife would
- 52:43Speaker 1: have to have like.
- 52:44Speaker 4: Four hundreds and then they almost have to swap, so
- 52:48Speaker 4: you could you know, yeah, it's.
- 52:52Speaker 1: For genetic you know, boosting. Okay, cos I'm trying to
- 52:58Speaker 1: I'm trying to keep the species. He's a live.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Sure, we'll play that game, yeah, kirk Man, I'll join in.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I had to spread my seed, my space seed in
- 53:11Speaker 1: my space.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Like that's a great idea.
- 53:14Speaker 1: That's a great idea. See, all this could have been
- 53:19Speaker 1: avoided if Kirk knew what they really needed.
- 53:23Speaker 3: He could have just rode down.
- 53:24Speaker 1: He could have just come back. He should have just
- 53:26Speaker 1: come back every six months, you know, to check in
- 53:29Speaker 1: on them, because you know, they needed new space seed.
- 53:34Speaker 4: Space seed. I'm still curious, like how they their whole
- 53:41Speaker 4: plan was to go to space and then eventually they're
- 53:46Speaker 4: going to take over another rocket. Right.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Wait, could you imagine if con Versus Kirk was like
- 53:53Speaker 3: some sort of like eighties teen or eighties teen comedy
- 53:58Speaker 3: where's just two dudes trying to spread their scene at
- 54:02Speaker 3: sleet Academy.
- 54:05Speaker 4: One's driving the Camaro.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you can get with the most girls that
- 54:12Speaker 2: kind of deal.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Yes, oh goodness, American Pie space Seed.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Oh my god, yes, that kind of deal.
- 54:23Speaker 3: You know, Curse got the letterman's jacket, CON's got the
- 54:27Speaker 3: leather jacket. You know, yes, you can see it.
- 54:30Speaker 1: We got all these popular pop music songs from the
- 54:33Speaker 1: early two thousands.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Oh god, so so much Huey Lewis, and at.
- 54:39Speaker 1: The end of every single movie, like there'd be multiple
- 54:42Speaker 1: movies and at the end of every single one would
- 54:43Speaker 1: be what's his face's mom?
- 54:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 54:48Speaker 3: Yeah, uh yes. They should have made it an eighties
- 54:55Speaker 3: ROMP comedy Starfleet great, yeah, yeah.
- 55:01Speaker 4: Ai the Sora that people have been making.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yes, it's.
- 55:07Speaker 4: Like you could actually do that right now, make eighties
- 55:12Speaker 4: call on and all that, and.
- 55:13Speaker 2: So oh yeah you absolutely could.
- 55:15Speaker 4: Yes. So somebody made a well I had to stop it.
- 55:18Speaker 4: They made a whole South Park episode with it, oh wow,
- 55:22Speaker 4: and it was crazy, like you could. I mean, it
- 55:26Speaker 4: was about pickleball and it was all fake and it
- 55:30Speaker 4: looked exactly like a South Park episode.
- 55:32Speaker 3: Wow.
- 55:34Speaker 1: We talked about it on the show before We're you know,
- 55:36Speaker 1: depending on what they're gonna do with fair use and
- 55:39Speaker 1: all that kind.
- 55:39Speaker 4: Of stuff, they're gonna have to do trademarks and everything.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's I think it's even sooner. I
- 55:44Speaker 1: think I said ten years and then I said five years.
- 55:48Speaker 1: I think we're twelve months away from me being able
- 55:49Speaker 1: to say, hey, uh chagbt, uh make me episode one
- 55:53Speaker 1: Deep Face nine, season eight.
- 55:55Speaker 3: No, I after you said that, within a couple of days,
- 55:58Speaker 3: I read an article about, like, there's a company I
- 56:01Speaker 3: think they partner with Netflix. I want to say, which
- 56:03Speaker 3: you can do that exactly what you were saying, Hey,
- 56:07Speaker 3: I want to do this, and here we go, and
- 56:10Speaker 3: that's what Netflix wanted. So that way you could just
- 56:13Speaker 3: whenever you go into Netflix, you can just type it in, hey,
- 56:16Speaker 3: I want to see Captain America and the A team
- 56:20Speaker 3: go fight Godzilla.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Great, and then you can do story points. I did
- 56:24Speaker 1: a screenplay of Voyager season eight, episode one that took
- 56:28Speaker 1: place minutes after the last episode ended. Yeah, you know
- 56:33Speaker 1: about like the the initial beam down and welcome home ceremony,
- 56:37Speaker 1: and you know, you know, permission to promote ensign Kim
- 56:41Speaker 1: denied and right right and chat gibt. You know, I
- 56:47Speaker 1: guided CHATGYBT and what elements I wanted to see. I
- 56:49Speaker 1: wanted to see, specifically reunions between U Paris and Paris
- 56:54Speaker 1: and and uh, you know different you know, Anika and
- 56:58Speaker 1: her aunt, the seven to nine and her aunt and
- 57:00Speaker 1: stuff like that. And yeah, I read a brief synopsis
- 57:04Speaker 1: of the storyline and looked amazing.
- 57:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it's wild how we have the tech now.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Oh, there was a scene where Jane Way sees an
- 57:13Speaker 1: elderly h what's the dog's name?
- 57:19Speaker 2: Oh, Molly.
- 57:20Speaker 3: The dog is Molly.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Molly was still alive and remarried and but remarried Mark.
- 57:31Speaker 1: But Molly, you know, Molly, Molly had a bunch of pups,
- 57:35Speaker 1: but Molly was still alive. And wow, yeah, I just
- 57:40Speaker 1: want That's the only episode I want to see. I
- 57:42Speaker 1: want to see that day one through day three. You know,
- 57:47Speaker 1: I don't want to necessarily, I mean seeing their own
- 57:50Speaker 1: their adventures after that. I just want to see which
- 57:52Speaker 1: is what we missed. We missed we got in game
- 57:57Speaker 1: and endgame. That should have been an episode. That's have
- 58:00Speaker 1: been the first episode, and then they should have done
- 58:02Speaker 1: a Deep Space nine like you know, after prologue they
- 58:07Speaker 1: got everybody. Yeah, I would have loved to have seen that.
- 58:11Speaker 1: The debriefings would have been interesting, you know, like a
- 58:15Speaker 1: montage of some of the debriefings.
- 58:18Speaker 2: You know, right, right.
- 58:20Speaker 1: So you made a what from two vok and Nelix
- 58:23Speaker 1: that you did what? Now moving on, there'd be many
- 58:29Speaker 1: you made babies. You made lizard babies with who and.
- 58:34Speaker 4: Not Harry Kim.
- 58:35Speaker 1: This is like alternate alter Harry Kim.
- 58:38Speaker 3: Yes, that's hilarious.
- 58:43Speaker 4: That's why you got nothing. That's why you never got
- 58:45Speaker 4: promoted because she knews like, you're not Harry Kim, so
- 58:47Speaker 4: I don't have to promote you.
- 58:48Speaker 1: And they're gonna arrest uh ensign Wildman for child neglect
- 58:52Speaker 1: because you never see her in like yeah, last seasons,
- 58:55Speaker 1: even though she's like I've had to google several times
- 58:59Speaker 1: what happened to Lieutenant Man? I guess she was there
- 59:02Speaker 1: at the end, but you don't see her after like
- 59:04Speaker 1: season six.
- 59:05Speaker 4: She's just look, she's like here here, here you go,
- 59:10Speaker 4: MI find flounder.
- 59:12Speaker 1: I thought she died now and did not die. There
- 59:18Speaker 1: is no episode where she dies. She gets injured, written
- 59:21Speaker 1: off injured one Uh yeh yeah, so.
- 59:29Speaker 3: Oh all the hundred says a I. That's how you
- 59:31Speaker 3: end up with your generals on the wrong place. You
- 59:36Speaker 3: think you're tickling someone's ear, but nope.
- 59:39Speaker 4: No, Well, like I said, right porthos, So yeah, yeah,
- 59:48Speaker 4: I had It's like, well, I can't do that one.
- 59:51Speaker 1: So how do you test the reflexes? Because you know
- 59:54Speaker 1: how the doctor does that little thing, that little hammer.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you can't do that with that species that
- 59:59Speaker 1: fu kirk an episode in uh the Star Trek six.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: You know, you realize if we're talking about ai junk,
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: maybe we should wrap up the show.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Alth I know he and take that hammer right to
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: his crotch.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: No, that's the only thinks to make a bunch of you.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: So does he have his potella where his crotches?
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Okay, I think the.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: Patient the doctor like hey, uh my, my units here
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: and then you.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Delved into the depths of the Star Trek sewer.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: That's right. Yeah, I think we're I think we're good show.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: Watch Scott and your wife, right, I already know I
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: lived with this guy.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, Well is Dan?
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: Did Dan bell out or did he even listen?
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: No? Yeah, I think you just couldn't make it today.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: What happens?
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: Yeah, so you said, there's what five more episodes left.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: Or five more of aisodes left of Startrik Con So
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: it ends in the first week of November, so I
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: will probably yes, yeah, the.
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: Last one because I thought it was over. I didn't
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: realize it was continuing out.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: Yeah. No, no, it keeps going till November. Okay, so
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: we'll probably Yeah, we might do like an end review
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: once it's over, but I don't think we'll do week
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: to week. It doesn't feel like that necessarily because there some.

- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, really sure, Yeah, they're short.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: But yeah, just to reiterate to uh, because I let
