- 0:00Speaker 1: Why do you want so concerned you have a furrowed brow.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Turn that furrowed brow upside down. She was an American
- 0:09Speaker 1: girl raised on promises who fire real talk, yo. So
- 0:19Speaker 1: I don't know how we're gonna cover all that I
- 0:21Speaker 1: have to say in this episode. Plus have the genius
- 0:25Speaker 1: guests that we have, the one and only Sarah Chalk.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We have so much to cover. Season three begins right now. Yeah,
- 0:33Speaker 1: season three, Welcome everybody, Welcome. Made three. We made it
- 0:37Speaker 1: to season three. This is going so fast. We're gonna
- 0:40Speaker 1: be done with this show too soon. I know my
- 0:43Speaker 1: heart needs to re up. Well, no, I heart's clearly
- 0:46Speaker 1: gonna reup. I mean, I don't know where my fucking
- 0:49Speaker 1: gift basket is, but I think it's pretty clear they're
- 0:51Speaker 1: gonna re up. But um but um but I mean,
- 0:56Speaker 1: you know, someone wrote me on my social media that like,
- 0:59Speaker 1: if you guys keep going at this rate, you'll be
- 1:01Speaker 1: done in this many weeks, and I was like, oh shit,
- 1:02Speaker 1: that's kind of fast. Well that's a great thing about
- 1:05Speaker 1: what we're gonna do. When we're at a Scrubs episodes.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I think we could keep going with watching movies or
- 1:10Speaker 1: or or like pads of favorite TV shows or something.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I like that idea. That sounds great. I mean, what's
- 1:16Speaker 1: gonna happen, obviously, is eventually the world to reopen and
- 1:19Speaker 1: we'll be going back to doing what we do for
- 1:22Speaker 1: a living, acting and directing, and maybe we'll slow down
- 1:25Speaker 1: and do one a week instead of two week. I'm
- 1:27Speaker 1: just speculating. Listen, man, anything's possible. That's the beauty of
- 1:32Speaker 1: that's the beauty of this podcast. It's called Fake Doctors,
- 1:36Speaker 1: Real Friends. It's not necessarily called the Scrubs rewatch Show. Yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 1: that's just smart. That was smart. We could have called
- 1:43Speaker 1: it the Scrubs rewatch Show and then it just would
- 1:44Speaker 1: have been that. Right. No, but that's not what this is.
- 1:47Speaker 1: This is a This is a tale of two fake
- 1:50Speaker 1: doctors who are actual friends, real friends. Yeah. So you know,
- 1:54Speaker 1: we could take this on to something else. Maybe we
- 1:57Speaker 1: watch other doctors shows. I'd preferably do I want to
- 2:00Speaker 1: do that. I do. No. I want to say since
- 2:02Speaker 1: we talk so much about movies, and I do think
- 2:05Speaker 1: that the listeners like the discussion of pop culture and
- 2:09Speaker 1: episodes of TV, we could literally go, Okay, this week
- 2:12Speaker 1: we're doing back to the Future. This week we're doing
- 2:14Speaker 1: an episode of What's Happening, Like we could just I
- 2:17Speaker 1: think we could just like pick whether it's a TV
- 2:19Speaker 1: episode or a movie, and like that's the topic of
- 2:22Speaker 1: discussion that week. I would love I would love to
- 2:25Speaker 1: do the Back to the Future one. Now, could we
- 2:27Speaker 1: do that? No, we already did. We already did La Land,
- 2:31Speaker 1: although I think when we switched to this mode, we'll
- 2:33Speaker 1: have to do a more in depth La La Land.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I can't go way deeper with my La Land. You know,
- 2:38Speaker 1: we turned a lot of people onto Lala Land. I
- 2:40Speaker 1: had a lot of people on my feeds being like,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know, I never actually watched it, and I did,
- 2:44Speaker 1: thank you so much. I'm crying my eyes out. Really, yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I would think that people would just be pissed off
- 2:51Speaker 1: at the end of La La Land. I don't necessarily
- 2:53Speaker 1: think people would be. I didn't think people would be
- 2:55Speaker 1: crying and stuff. I cried my eyes out at the
- 2:57Speaker 1: end La, and you didn't. We was sad you cried
- 3:00Speaker 1: at the end of La I'm a big sucker for
- 3:04Speaker 1: love that cannot be if you strategically and do a
- 3:07Speaker 1: good job in your script of setting up two people.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I'm dying to be together and then you throw at
- 3:13Speaker 1: me that they can't be together. I mean, even if
- 3:15Speaker 1: like we always we've not always we've used the example
- 3:18Speaker 1: of Whoopee being separated from her sister in color Purple,
- 3:20Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, or or or feel the dreams, the
- 3:23Speaker 1: father having the catch, but he's got to go back
- 3:25Speaker 1: to the field. Like you give me, You give me
- 3:29Speaker 1: two people that love each other and they can't be together.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'm fucking done. I hear that out of Africa. Come on, buddy,
- 3:37Speaker 1: Bridges of Madison County, Come on home, buddy. When she
- 3:40Speaker 1: reaches for that handle and her hand is shaken, come own, buddy.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Spoilers which she's about to commit infidelity and she's about
- 3:48Speaker 1: to cheat on her husband. So come my own, buddy.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Are you watching um Raised by Wolves Us? No? Is
- 3:56Speaker 1: that the Mowgli story of Tarzan? No, it's Jungle Book
- 4:03Speaker 1: in Tarzan in one reverence. No, it's it's Ridley Scott, dude,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and it's sci fi. So I know you'll love it.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And it's really good. Joel, you must be watching this,
- 4:12Speaker 1: Hi freaking love it was there you go. I don't
- 4:15Speaker 1: want to it's cool. I think you really like it,
- 4:18Speaker 1: Donald because it's like sci fi. It's all the stuff.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Really Scott's been exploring with the Alien franchise for the
- 4:23Speaker 1: past couple of years, and what I'm really interested it's
- 4:26Speaker 1: like the story of a mother and son. Mostly Ridley
- 4:29Speaker 1: Scott's son takes over the series after episode three, so
- 4:32Speaker 1: really Scott directs the first three episodes. Yeah is it, Jake?
- 4:36Speaker 1: I think, so look it up. He's got a few songs.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I'm actually I'm actually represented by the Ridley Scott's company
- 4:42Speaker 1: as a commercial director. And um, oh, a little bit
- 4:46Speaker 1: of trivia for you. When we cut my short film
- 4:48Speaker 1: that I made with Alicia Silverstone and Florence Pew, the
- 4:51Speaker 1: one that you wall should go watch if you haven't
- 4:52Speaker 1: watched it called In the Time It Takes to Get There. Um,
- 4:56Speaker 1: that was in the whole edit suite where they cut
- 4:58Speaker 1: this show. So they like loaned us one of their
- 5:01Speaker 1: bays and for like a few days and we cut
- 5:03Speaker 1: our short in there, and I didn't know what it was.
- 5:05Speaker 1: It was like, oh, yeah, we're we're gearing up to
- 5:07Speaker 1: cut this epic series called Raised by Wolves. And I
- 5:10Speaker 1: was like, I don't know what that is. Now I'm
- 5:12Speaker 1: and now I'm watching it and it's so good. I
- 5:14Speaker 1: was like, oh shit, I was cutting on their avids.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So there you go. Donald, You'll love It's the Spaceships.
- 5:20Speaker 1: There's androids. Oh that's the one where like the Android
- 5:24Speaker 1: is like got a bunch of kids and it's yes, yes, yes,
- 5:29Speaker 1: it's really good. Luke Scott, oh yeah, well Jake Scott's
- 5:32Speaker 1: also a really amazing director. But Donald, you'll love it.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Um should we talk about Peloton? Did you spend today?
- 5:38Speaker 1: I did not spend today. I'm gonna did. You could
- 5:40Speaker 1: probably tell by how sweaty I am. Are you gonna
- 5:43Speaker 1: try this woman? Leanne Haynesby? She's my favorite right now?
- 5:46Speaker 1: I'm telling you try Cody's. I did try Cody. I
- 5:49Speaker 1: didn't try Cody. Did you laugh your ass off? He's funny,
- 5:52Speaker 1: but he's a little he has I love how you
- 5:54Speaker 1: all have catchphrases. Cody. Cody has some catch phrases, right.
- 5:57Speaker 1: He says some shit that's like they're all trying to
- 6:00Speaker 1: find there. What you're talking about, willis what was coded?
- 6:03Speaker 1: What God? He said one phrase over and again. But
- 6:06Speaker 1: Liane's is done and dusted because she's British and I
- 6:10Speaker 1: didn't know that was done and she goes, okay, okay,
- 6:13Speaker 1: sit back down. That section's over done and dusted, and
- 6:16Speaker 1: I didn't. I was like, did she make the shit up?
- 6:18Speaker 1: And then I asked Florence, It's like, is that like
- 6:19Speaker 1: a British expression? She's like, yeah, don and dusted. I
- 6:21Speaker 1: never heard dunn and dusted before don and dusted. Do
- 6:24Speaker 1: you know what my favorite British saying is bits and bobs?
- 6:29Speaker 1: What is that? Penis and balls? No bits and bobs? Like,
- 6:32Speaker 1: just like bits and bobs doesn't refer to penis and balls,
- 6:36Speaker 1: Why would it refer to penis and ball? I don't know.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Penis is willing forgot, for fuck's sake, just stop talking
- 6:42Speaker 1: about willis. Sorry anyway. Yeah, so I want to incorporate
- 6:48Speaker 1: I might even try it in this podcast, the expression
- 6:51Speaker 1: don and dusted. Okay, dude, I'm getting skinny though, Dude.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I just want you to know I'm pushing myself. You're
- 6:59Speaker 1: looking good. I'm not gonna lie you're looking good. Man.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I'm kinda wait, I'm gonna I'm gonna not not ready
- 7:03Speaker 1: to reveal my my abs yet because it's only been
- 7:05Speaker 1: a week, but I'm I'm going hardcore. I can't wait
- 7:08Speaker 1: for the Abberville as Health like everybody and that's my goal. Hey,
- 7:14Speaker 1: speaking of cover of men's Health, did you see Ryan
- 7:16Speaker 1: Reynolds on Twitter? What you didn't see that? Oh my god?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Oh he's been blowing us up all morning. He wants
- 7:24Speaker 1: to come on the show. He's like, go check Twitter
- 7:26Speaker 1: right now, No on your phone? Not do you have
- 7:29Speaker 1: Twitter on your phone? Yeah? He missed. He missed his opportunity. Man,
- 7:33Speaker 1: it's really we're not gonna The funny thing is, what
- 7:37Speaker 1: are you gonna We don't have an episode? We just
- 7:39Speaker 1: do it. He's gonna be like our first, like episode. Yeah,
- 7:42Speaker 1: he's gonna be our first, just like shooting this ship
- 7:44Speaker 1: with a r on a very special episode. Doctor's real friend.
- 7:48Speaker 1: He don't be funny to get episode, ever, be funny
- 7:51Speaker 1: to get get up to watch an episode he has
- 7:53Speaker 1: nothing to do with. And he's like, a right, Ryan,
- 7:54Speaker 1: you're gonna wait in on three zero two? Right? What
- 7:57Speaker 1: do you think about this one? Er? So wait? Hold up?
- 8:01Speaker 1: He liked he Somebody obviously reached out to him and
- 8:04Speaker 1: was like, why did you diss a fake doctor? No? No,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I was very tactful when I when I posted I
- 8:08Speaker 1: made thee I meane a joke saying right today on
- 8:11Speaker 1: the podcast, Ryan Reynolds asterisk and then put on the
- 8:14Speaker 1: asterisk is a great actor we talk about and um,
- 8:18Speaker 1: people really reply to that. I'm sure people. I know
- 8:20Speaker 1: people were tagging and left and right and uh. And
- 8:23Speaker 1: then today he responded like I want to be on
- 8:26Speaker 1: this show. Like and then everyone started weighing in and
- 8:29Speaker 1: he was like and I was like, we love you, Ryan,
- 8:30Speaker 1: bring gin and he's like, I'll bring what are you
- 8:33Speaker 1: write you like, I'll bring empty bottles and all the
- 8:36Speaker 1: gin that's already in my body or something. But like
- 8:38Speaker 1: he's already. He's like he's uh, he's common. He wants
- 8:41Speaker 1: to come on the show. Okay, that's why do you
- 8:44Speaker 1: have that face on? Why do you have that face on?
- 8:45Speaker 1: It's like you're like pouting? Are you? Are you? Are
- 8:49Speaker 1: you pouting? Oh? You me? Yeah, you don't seem excited
- 8:54Speaker 1: that Ryan wants to come on the show. Of a sudden, No,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I smoke that's sativa today, So like you can't get
- 9:01Speaker 1: high and come to work. I'm not high. I just
- 9:04Speaker 1: said smoke that. I just said I smoked that sid today.
- 9:11Speaker 1: We are so opposite. I'm like, I like did the
- 9:14Speaker 1: peloton and chugged the red Bull, and Donald's like like
- 9:18Speaker 1: fucking sitting bong hits in his living room. Come, mom, buddy,
- 9:21Speaker 1: this is work. I can't these people. I can't do
- 9:24Speaker 1: bong hits in the living room. I got the kids
- 9:26Speaker 1: in the living room. All right, Well whatever in your
- 9:28Speaker 1: garden sit? I got a little escaped deck. Oh yeah, um,
- 9:39Speaker 1: all right, well everyone, should we get into the show.
- 9:42Speaker 1: We have a lot to talk about. We have to
- 9:43Speaker 1: bring in Sarah's Sarah here, Sarah's here, bring her in. See,
- 9:47Speaker 1: let's see everybody if she can figure out of her tech.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Oh jesus, she's on her iPad. That's always a bad sign.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Remember one. Remember she had music playing one time? Yes,
- 9:57Speaker 1: but she could only hear it, right, we couldn't hear it. Yeah,
- 10:00Speaker 1: she's always Let's see everybody, let's see listeners. If Sarah
- 10:03Speaker 1: Shawk can join a zoom call without issue? So far,
- 10:08Speaker 1: so far enough, we've got We've got Sarah's iPad is
- 10:13Speaker 1: connecting to Uh that's soundproofing. Oh she doesn't know. Oh
- 10:20Speaker 1: she's got fancy soundproofing, probably because of Rick and Morney
- 10:23Speaker 1: or something. There she is. What happened? Did I do
- 10:29Speaker 1: it for the work you did. It seems are recording?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Are you recording? Oh boy, for real, these guys, you're
- 10:39Speaker 1: not even oh god, oh god, there's gonna be oh
- 10:42Speaker 1: my god situation already. And then and then what happened
- 10:46Speaker 1: the dogs ate my other dog and my dad. This
- 10:51Speaker 1: was actually a dog ate my homework situation. I was
- 10:54Speaker 1: so prepared and I watched the episode and I couldn't
- 10:58Speaker 1: find my sheets, and I was like, fuck twe o'clock
- 11:00Speaker 1: where I wears everything I wrote down? And so I
- 11:03Speaker 1: retraced my steps and look where I found it. The
- 11:05Speaker 1: wind had blown it in between the decks. And it's like,
- 11:08Speaker 1: oh my gosh, so so how much you care about
- 11:16Speaker 1: Sarah's holding up Sarah's holding up a paper that looks
- 11:18Speaker 1: like it's been through the washing machine. This is the
- 11:22Speaker 1: most But I'm glad the audience is seeing this, because
- 11:24Speaker 1: this is what every single morning of we ever saw.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Sarah was like, you guys, you're not going to believe this.
- 11:31Speaker 1: The notes that I made of the show fell in
- 11:34Speaker 1: the gutter, and then just as I was reaching for it,
- 11:37Speaker 1: a raccoon picked it up and ran off with it.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And then I chased the racco going down that I
- 11:45Speaker 1: actually prepared, and that time code three point five two.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Kelso made a great face, Sarah, it looks like you
- 11:53Speaker 1: have a fancy sound booth, but is that a makeshift
- 11:56Speaker 1: thing because you do Rick and Morty another fun voice
- 11:58Speaker 1: over work. So I can't remember if I told you
- 12:01Speaker 1: guys this story, but I um when I first the
- 12:04Speaker 1: pandemic hit and I was recording cartoons, and I was
- 12:07Speaker 1: grabbing every duvet and pillow on the bottom bunk bed
- 12:10Speaker 1: and making like a sound cocoon for as you know,
- 12:12Speaker 1: good acoustics as we could get. At that point, we
- 12:15Speaker 1: were just kind of doing pickups and it was fine.
- 12:17Speaker 1: And then they wanted better sound quality. So I took
- 12:20Speaker 1: seven moving blankets and duct taped them to my four
- 12:22Speaker 1: year old's play tent and I would like crawling there.
- 12:26Speaker 1: And then so then I I did like this deep
- 12:29Speaker 1: dive into building my own sound booth, and I learned
- 12:31Speaker 1: more about like green glue and clips and bass traps
- 12:35Speaker 1: and like than I could ever want to know. And
- 12:38Speaker 1: so then finally I decided to just order like a
- 12:41Speaker 1: proper vocal booth from Oregon and it was shipped up
- 12:44Speaker 1: in a crate and then we had to assemble it,
- 12:46Speaker 1: so I like the real deal. Wow, it's big, Sarah.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I like that you got it from Oregon. It's big, guys.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Sarah has like a legit professional audio. It's about time, though, Sarah,
- 13:01Speaker 1: because I feel like you do a lot of awesome
- 13:04Speaker 1: vo work. And I can understand that people were probably like,
- 13:07Speaker 1: all right, come on, Sarah, well, especially since you guys
- 13:11Speaker 1: all know how technologically inclined I am. Yes, our listeners
- 13:16Speaker 1: have all heard in act, I'm before this one. I'm like,
- 13:20Speaker 1: I'm going to have I'm going to have everything ready,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and I at the last minute I was like, oh,
- 13:24Speaker 1: they prefer earbuds, not you know, headphones, and I thought
- 13:29Speaker 1: I was so organized, and then I went to go
- 13:30Speaker 1: grab my papers and I was saying, well, I'm so
- 13:34Speaker 1: glad you're here, Sarah, going to see you. We miss you,
- 13:37Speaker 1: and I'm so glad you're here for this one because um,
- 13:41Speaker 1: it's just an incredible Elliott episode and um we've been
- 13:45Speaker 1: talking so much and this isn't just to blow smoke.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And I know you probably don't listen to the podcast,
- 13:49Speaker 1: but we are not men of lip service. Let's keep
- 13:52Speaker 1: it on. Oh I spent nine years I know I
- 13:55Speaker 1: know if we know you're not, but like, no, but Sarah,
- 13:59Speaker 1: even though it's and this is coming from the bottom
- 14:01Speaker 1: of my heart, Donald and I are watching these episodes,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and almost every episode we're like, holy shit, I wasn't
- 14:10Speaker 1: paying enough attention to how good Sarah is in this show.
- 14:13Speaker 1: That is so nice and so um not true. I
- 14:16Speaker 1: find the beginning episodes very difficult for me to watch
- 14:19Speaker 1: because I'm so bad. I feel so much. As this
- 14:23Speaker 1: show went along, I feel like, great, I think you're
- 14:25Speaker 1: so funny Sarah your comic. I think I was so
- 14:29Speaker 1: in my own bubble and trying to do a good
- 14:31Speaker 1: job my own thing. And of course I noticed occasionally
- 14:33Speaker 1: when I thought you were being funny or or or
- 14:35Speaker 1: your dramatic work was great. But now I'm just sitting
- 14:37Speaker 1: here twenty years later watching and Donald and I are
- 14:39Speaker 1: both like, holy shit, Sarah is funny as hell, and
- 14:44Speaker 1: of course you're dramatic stuff too, But but you're just
- 14:46Speaker 1: high hilarious. Well for the dramatic stuff. I've got my
- 14:49Speaker 1: Josh Raid and the iPod you know play soundtrack. Remember
- 14:53Speaker 1: I used to go with my iPods and have my
- 14:54Speaker 1: crime playlist. I think that's a good too. Move for
- 14:56Speaker 1: a lot of people putting on the sad music winter.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Are you gonna say Donald and you find as hell? Girl?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Holy shit? Oh there it is there. It is talk.
- 15:09Speaker 1: We just watched the episode where you when you're naughty
- 15:11Speaker 1: nurse outfit making out with Donald and that got us
- 15:13Speaker 1: all riled up. Oh my god, I remember that day,
- 15:17Speaker 1: and it was like, you know, when you're on a
- 15:18Speaker 1: show and you are somebody's love interests from the beginning,
- 15:21Speaker 1: and you kind of meet and you're already kissing, But
- 15:23Speaker 1: it's so different from when like you become such good
- 15:25Speaker 1: friends with somebody and you're just buddies, and then all
- 15:27Speaker 1: of a sudden, it's like and now you will be
- 15:29Speaker 1: on all fours, crawling on top of them, and you'll
- 15:33Speaker 1: be wearing very little clothing, right. Zach was like, Zach
- 15:36Speaker 1: kept asking me. He was like, wait a second, and
- 15:38Speaker 1: you didn't get like excited, And I was like, dude,
- 15:40Speaker 1: at this point, we were hanging out so much and
- 15:43Speaker 1: we were so tight as friends that it was like, Yo,
- 15:47Speaker 1: it's like I'm kissing my sister, dude. And then oh
- 15:50Speaker 1: my god. But when you look at the scene, it
- 15:53Speaker 1: looks really good, like we had good chemistry, good chemistry,
- 15:57Speaker 1: you're jealous. I'm not gonna lie. I can't lie and
- 15:59Speaker 1: tell you I will and jealous I twenty years later,
- 16:02Speaker 1: I was like, get your fucking hands. I love it. Wait,
- 16:08Speaker 1: we never we never counted in, Sarah. And since since
- 16:12Speaker 1: you're you're our favorite Canadian, Ryan Reynolds is going to
- 16:15Speaker 1: be coming on the program, so he's gonna be our
- 16:17Speaker 1: second favorite Canadian. But since you're our first favorite Canadian,
- 16:21Speaker 1: I thought, wait, wait, wait, Tom Cavanaugh also Tom Kavanaugh
- 16:24Speaker 1: also okay, okay, I can't believe, are you? And then
- 16:30Speaker 1: we're gonna have Michael Jay Fox, I hope, so that
- 16:33Speaker 1: the top he might just play Sarah. No, no, no,
- 16:36Speaker 1: if he's Sarah Michael J. Sarah. But I think Michael J.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Fox might briefly maybe he's for the week, move Sarah down. No, no,
- 16:44Speaker 1: it would be Sarah Michael J. Fox. Okay, Tom Cavanaugh
- 16:49Speaker 1: and then Ryanka And when Ryan comes on, Donald and
- 16:53Speaker 1: Ryan I've done the exact saint that scene I just
- 16:56Speaker 1: did with Donald like on all fours, cryling on top
- 16:58Speaker 1: of him. Also, I've done with Ryans So really that
- 17:01Speaker 1: could be discussed to do that or we have done it.
- 17:04Speaker 1: You have, I have, I have what what was that?
- 17:07Speaker 1: I don't if you guys remember when we were I
- 17:08Speaker 1: can't remember Canadian porn? Sorry, did you do Canadian porn?
- 17:11Speaker 1: You know? It was? It was? It was. There's a
- 17:13Speaker 1: lot of here work here now. It didn't used to
- 17:15Speaker 1: be that way. Uma, So Ryan, right, I don't know
- 17:20Speaker 1: if you guys remember, take what we could get, you know,
- 17:23Speaker 1: Ryan and I, Ryan and I were young. We had
- 17:25Speaker 1: to take what Canadian work we could get. Canadian is
- 17:29Speaker 1: something you hear a lot about. But okay, it's very tame,
- 17:31Speaker 1: very justly. They politely kiss each other totally all right
- 17:38Speaker 1: before we count in, Sarah tell us the story you mounted,
- 17:41Speaker 1: Ryan Reynolds. So, I don't know if you guys remember.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I can't remember what season it was on Scrubs, but
- 17:45Speaker 1: I remember I was. I was like, oh man, I
- 17:47Speaker 1: gotta put on braun underwear and for this movie. And
- 17:50Speaker 1: there's pretty much my only couple scenes in the movie,
- 17:53Speaker 1: and one or two of them were in like just
- 17:54Speaker 1: pull brown underwear, like push Ryan realms on the bed,
- 17:57Speaker 1: crawl on top of them, much like the Donald scene.
- 17:59Speaker 1: And so so I was like trying to do I
- 18:03Speaker 1: think I asked you, Zach, you had that amazing delivery
- 18:06Speaker 1: food service that was like super healthy, and so I
- 18:09Speaker 1: tried doing that and I was like trying to be
- 18:11Speaker 1: all healthy. What happened? And what was the scene you
- 18:15Speaker 1: mounted him? Was awkward? Was there chemistry like there was
- 18:18Speaker 1: between you and Donald when your naughty outfit halls? Yeah?
- 18:22Speaker 1: So I was, I was. I think I got there
- 18:26Speaker 1: to say. And my first scene was that scene with Ryan.
- 18:28Speaker 1: So it was kind of like, Hi, nice to meet
- 18:30Speaker 1: you again, kind of because we'd known each other through
- 18:32Speaker 1: friends when we were younger, but I didn't know him
- 18:35Speaker 1: well at all. And yeah, that was literally the first
- 18:38Speaker 1: scene as I like a garter and heels and like this,
- 18:43Speaker 1: what movie is this? How can watch this movie is?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Let's say, I wanted to quickly watch it this evening. Uh.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It is directed by Marcos Siega, starring Ryan Reynolds and
- 18:54Speaker 1: Emily Mortimer and the name of it is coming to me.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'll count us in. You guys will go to break.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I'll thank you about it, all right, hold on and Sarah,
- 19:02Speaker 1: you will now count us in. Got girl? This is
- 19:06Speaker 1: we only bestow this uncertain people's French or English by body,
- 19:10Speaker 1: I mean we're in Canada with French, do French, French, French? Thanks?
- 19:13Speaker 1: He said, would you like how would you would you
- 19:18Speaker 1: stories about show we made about a bunch of docs
- 19:25Speaker 1: and nurses? Said stories? So dadoo around here are yadoo
- 19:36Speaker 1: around here? Are m Sarah's So? What was the movie called?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Joel helped you out? Joel helped me out? Thank you Joel?
- 19:47Speaker 1: Chaos theory? Chaos theory? All right, everyone, this is this
- 19:52Speaker 1: is obviously before he like blew up and became like
- 19:57Speaker 1: the Ryan Reynolds that he is today. Was he already
- 19:59Speaker 1: ripped in stuff like that? Donald wants to know if
- 20:01Speaker 1: Donald wants to know if you had a chance to
- 20:03Speaker 1: see the abs live in person? Were they doe and
- 20:06Speaker 1: was where they glistening? Where they or was he like
- 20:10Speaker 1: ripped enough to be a character in magic? Mike? I mean,
- 20:14Speaker 1: I just he was ripped. I just remember being ripped.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I don't know the degrees of rippage that you guys
- 20:18Speaker 1: are referring to, but well, you know, Sarah, you were,
- 20:20Speaker 1: you were on top of them. I'm sure you know
- 20:22Speaker 1: that they were. I feel bad that you were coming
- 20:24Speaker 1: from me being your love interest and then uh and
- 20:26Speaker 1: then going to Ryan Reynolds with his abs and had
- 20:29Speaker 1: to come back to Mike Joey physic. Anyway, this episode,
- 20:31Speaker 1: I really I have to say the first shot of me,
- 20:35Speaker 1: I instantly saw that I had a little little foopa happening.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I had a little bit and that is one of
- 20:41Speaker 1: my favorite shots in the episode. I mean, when you're dancing,
- 20:43Speaker 1: it fucking kills me. Okay, too far, we're going too fast.
- 20:49Speaker 1: We're going too fast. Let's just do the recap real
- 20:52Speaker 1: quick so we can get this out of the way.
- 20:57Speaker 1: All right, hold on, I don't have my phone, Dan,
- 20:59Speaker 1: I need you to time no problem. And yes, I
- 21:02Speaker 1: have been listening to the podcast. I am behind, but
- 21:04Speaker 1: I haven't listening and I do nobody nobody else say
- 21:11Speaker 1: I did hear you ask Scarlett your hands about Ryan
- 21:13Speaker 1: Reynolds apps, so I know that that happens. Yes, all right,
- 21:17Speaker 1: here we go. All right, you ready, ready, it's forty
- 21:19Speaker 1: seven seconds now, forty seven seconds. Ready go. Season three
- 21:24Speaker 1: begins with a pal Doctor Cox punches Doctor Kelso in
- 21:28Speaker 1: the nose. Things in the hospital seem to go back
- 21:31Speaker 1: to normal. Well, there are a few changes. JD stopped
- 21:35Speaker 1: using moose when when the progression of change doesn't move
- 21:39Speaker 1: fast enough some people take matters into their own hands
- 21:42Speaker 1: and try to help change with its pace. Unfortunately, change
- 21:46Speaker 1: is stubborn as fuck and moves at its own speed.
- 21:50Speaker 1: It's like it likes to take its time. Change is
- 21:54Speaker 1: so slow that things always seem to be the same. Okay,
- 22:00Speaker 1: change is so slow, things always seem to be the same.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Thirty nine seconds, Thank you Donald for that beautiful summation
- 22:06Speaker 1: of the themes. My first impression was what the hell
- 22:10Speaker 1: did I do during this hiatus? Because I have a belly,
- 22:15Speaker 1: my hair is too long, I seem a little fat
- 22:18Speaker 1: in my face, like I've been over indulging in alcohol. Um.
- 22:22Speaker 1: That was my first impression of myself. What did you
- 22:25Speaker 1: guys think when you first saw your season three selves?
- 22:27Speaker 1: When I first saw you, I was like, oh shit,
- 22:30Speaker 1: this is the season. Zach came back comfortable, he came back.
- 22:35Speaker 1: He came back. But it's true he went away that
- 22:38Speaker 1: summer and sincerely was like, you know, hey, I'm the
- 22:41Speaker 1: star of a hit show and I'm gonna be on
- 22:42Speaker 1: Thursday nights and he ate some freaking ice creamed. I
- 22:48Speaker 1: looked a little chubby. I don't like that. But see, see,
- 22:50Speaker 1: when you guys say that you don't blow smoke and
- 22:52Speaker 1: you yeah, I mean you, you mean it, you can
- 22:54Speaker 1: tell it like it is. No, we don't, we don't,
- 22:57Speaker 1: we don't. We don't mince words here. I want him
- 22:58Speaker 1: to be honest with you. I tell him, and he
- 23:00Speaker 1: looks a little Tubbins. Will you tell me that all
- 23:03Speaker 1: the time? Tubbins? I like it sounded like it sounded
- 23:11Speaker 1: like Mary Poppins with Tubbins for paper. And I remember
- 23:17Speaker 1: your own set of wings. What's up? You know what?
- 23:19Speaker 1: I remember? We were? We were, We were a bonafid
- 23:20Speaker 1: hit at this point. Season two was our was our
- 23:22Speaker 1: was our biggest season ever. And I have to look
- 23:26Speaker 1: up when I did that, Htus. I'm sure I may
- 23:28Speaker 1: have made a movie. He was Last Kiss or something.
- 23:29Speaker 1: I don't know, but I came back a little Tubbins. No,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I think it's garden I think at this time it's
- 23:35Speaker 1: Garden State. I think Garden State had come out. You're right,
- 23:38Speaker 1: I jumping timeline, and no, it didn't come out. I
- 23:40Speaker 1: think I probably shot Gardens. That it had to be
- 23:43Speaker 1: this year that you shot Garden State because the year
- 23:46Speaker 1: before you had just sold it and everything like that.
- 23:49Speaker 1: So this is the right, right, right, the year before
- 23:52Speaker 1: I had done Shakespeare in the Park in New York,
- 23:55Speaker 1: and then I had set it up with Natalie and
- 23:57Speaker 1: this would have been one year later is when I
- 23:59Speaker 1: probably made the movie. Sorry I'm bad with time like that,
- 24:01Speaker 1: but you're probably right. So anyway, I come back. I
- 24:03Speaker 1: remember that we were we all three of us, were
- 24:05Speaker 1: kind of like, the show is such a hit. Are
- 24:07Speaker 1: we gonna get a little pay raise? Because you know
- 24:10Speaker 1: that sometimes happens. After two years, we had heard that
- 24:12Speaker 1: the Willing Grace cast had all been given boxers. Do
- 24:15Speaker 1: you remember that this was like when the Porsche boxer
- 24:17Speaker 1: was a boxer. Yeah, it just it just come out
- 24:21Speaker 1: and they had given all four of the leads of
- 24:23Speaker 1: Willing craz boxers. And we were like, oh shit, we'll
- 24:26Speaker 1: be gonna get what's going on. And we didn't get anything.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And then the first episode opened with you Too the song,
- 24:33Speaker 1: and I never turned to Donald being like, I guess
- 24:35Speaker 1: that's where our raised. Oh my god, that you two song.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I mean, just hearing it in this episode, like does
- 24:44Speaker 1: it bring you guys right back to the pilot. I
- 24:46Speaker 1: can't hear that song without it like being twenty four
- 24:49Speaker 1: again and shooting that pilot why did we play the
- 24:52Speaker 1: song a lot that was in the pilot was in
- 24:55Speaker 1: the pilot episode when Dandald Joel am I correct, Yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 1: I think so. It wasn't when you walk in this
- 25:00Speaker 1: like the song. I think in the pilot up probably is,
- 25:05Speaker 1: unless it was that we try to put it in
- 25:07Speaker 1: and then when we it was just in the pre
- 25:08Speaker 1: cut and when we aired we didn't get it till
- 25:10Speaker 1: three years later, but I think we had it in there,
- 25:12Speaker 1: and I just remember that it was very expensive, and
- 25:14Speaker 1: I think we were told at the time, like someone
- 25:17Speaker 1: was like, you're not gonna believe how much we spent
- 25:19Speaker 1: on getting that you two song, and we were all like, great,
- 25:22Speaker 1: that sounds great, gonna be really good because you know,
- 25:26Speaker 1: because Bono needs a new house. Right, Oh my god?
- 25:29Speaker 1: Did did you guys? Was that the year that you
- 25:33Speaker 1: got your new car? Speaking of Boxer as it wasn't
- 25:35Speaker 1: a Boxer, but when you went from your ZDR Porsche
- 25:37Speaker 1: and Bill put the license plate on, No, I didn't
- 25:40Speaker 1: go right to I didn't get that cocky. I got
- 25:43Speaker 1: I got a three fifty Z the year that the
- 25:45Speaker 1: three Nissan three fifty Z came out. My father's fanciest
- 25:49Speaker 1: sports car was a Nissan two eighties EX and I
- 25:51Speaker 1: thought it was the coolest car. It was the first
- 25:53Speaker 1: one of the first cars where that would talk, that
- 25:55Speaker 1: is to say, like if you left your lights on,
- 25:57Speaker 1: it would be like, your lights are on. And I
- 25:59Speaker 1: was like, holy shit, we have night Rider. We have
- 26:02Speaker 1: fucking night Rider. And I would talk to it. I
- 26:04Speaker 1: would talk to it. I would sit, my dad would
- 26:06Speaker 1: be inside obviously, like I wouldn't have the keys, but
- 26:09Speaker 1: I would like open the door and like flip the
- 26:12Speaker 1: lights on it and I'd be like, hey, kid, and
- 26:15Speaker 1: everything okay with the car, and it would be like
- 26:16Speaker 1: your lights are own. I're like, thank you, kid, And
- 26:19Speaker 1: I was just in heaven. So I always loved Nissan
- 26:22Speaker 1: sports cars. And then Nissan Kim came out with a
- 26:24Speaker 1: three fifty Z and I was so excited. And I
- 26:27Speaker 1: actually my car that I bought for five grand when
- 26:29Speaker 1: I moved to La my parents lowe me money was
- 26:31Speaker 1: a Nissan two forty SX super used barely, you know,
- 26:37Speaker 1: I fixed it up so it was fine. And then
- 26:39Speaker 1: when I got to when I got scrub and there
- 26:41Speaker 1: was a bus boy who worked at the French Vietnamese
- 26:45Speaker 1: restaurant with me and we barely spoke English. I don't
- 26:47Speaker 1: know any Spanish, but we were like best friends. And
- 26:50Speaker 1: he loved my Nissan two forty SX. And when I
- 26:54Speaker 1: got Scrubs and then I bought the Z, I gave
- 26:56Speaker 1: him the car for like a dollar because you have
- 26:59Speaker 1: to like do some money exchange or something, so he
- 27:02Speaker 1: like he got the car for a buck and it
- 27:04Speaker 1: was pretty cool moment. And so yes, my first fancy
- 27:07Speaker 1: car with Scrubs was that I didn't get to portion
- 27:09Speaker 1: until I made a little more money. Hold on, I
- 27:11Speaker 1: remember what happened. You bought the Z and everybody clowned
- 27:15Speaker 1: you for buying one person one person clown, one personal
- 27:19Speaker 1: who is that? One person? You? You? Okay? You also
- 27:26Speaker 1: but also Bill who put TV doc on your license
- 27:28Speaker 1: plate and then he didn't tell you that he was
- 27:30Speaker 1: doing that. I don't know if you've discussed this on
- 27:31Speaker 1: the podcast, or maybe you want to cut this out
- 27:33Speaker 1: because it's too We don't don't cut we don't cut
- 27:37Speaker 1: embarrassing things out, Sarah, Bill had the prop Department, unbeknownst
- 27:42Speaker 1: to me, put a California license plate on my new
- 27:45Speaker 1: car that said TV DOC and I didn't know about
- 27:49Speaker 1: it or see it, and I was driving around fu
- 27:51Speaker 1: La how long? For how long? Like like a week
- 27:55Speaker 1: with a flashy sports car with TV doc I want
- 27:57Speaker 1: to so embarrassed. That inspired me when I was working
- 28:02Speaker 1: on a show called Mad Love with Jason Biggs and
- 28:04Speaker 1: Tyler Leabine and we were rapping the next day and
- 28:06Speaker 1: I thought what would be a fun thing to do
- 28:09Speaker 1: for the cast? And Judy Grew was on him. She
- 28:11Speaker 1: was like, I can't do it to Judy because she
- 28:14Speaker 1: wouldn't have loved it. So I asked the props department,
- 28:17Speaker 1: who are always so amazing, like in twenty four hours,
- 28:20Speaker 1: I was like, can you get me two license plates?
- 28:23Speaker 1: And so they made me these license plates and they
- 28:25Speaker 1: TechEd them down to make them look old, and I
- 28:27Speaker 1: was like, what would be the douciest things that they
- 28:28Speaker 1: could be driving around with? So for Biggs, I did
- 28:33Speaker 1: bi gg S and the S was a dollar sign.
- 28:39Speaker 1: For Tyler Labine, I just did like actin ACTI n
- 28:43Speaker 1: apostrophe at acting for my fellow. And I've known Tyler
- 28:47Speaker 1: since we were sixteen. We were in a robin Hood
- 28:49Speaker 1: takeoff with Joshua Jackson, josh Jackson and Devin Sawa when
- 28:52Speaker 1: we were like fifteen. So all you Canadian kids stick together. Man,
- 28:56Speaker 1: there's a whole Canadian community up there. There's only like
- 28:59Speaker 1: fourteen of them. They all know each other. No, there's
- 29:01Speaker 1: no way more than that. Dude. I used to think
- 29:04Speaker 1: like you, Zach. I used to think like you. But no, no, no,
- 29:09Speaker 1: I learned when I did I did a French Canadian
- 29:12Speaker 1: film in Montreal, and I learned that there's a whole
- 29:16Speaker 1: community of French Canadian stars that watch French Canadian cinema
- 29:22Speaker 1: like they have their own star system. Because when I
- 29:24Speaker 1: did the movie, there's amazing actress I worked with. She
- 29:26Speaker 1: was like a big star in Montreal. And interestingly enough,
- 29:30Speaker 1: I said, oh, these movies must must transfer over to France,
- 29:34Speaker 1: and they said no, they really. They rarely ever become
- 29:36Speaker 1: popular in France. It's like just this community. They have
- 29:40Speaker 1: their own like movie stars. So what I want to
- 29:43Speaker 1: see it. It's called The High Cost of Living. It's
- 29:48Speaker 1: a super super, super good but also sad movie. It's
- 29:53Speaker 1: the movie I made with Debor Chow. We've spoken about
- 29:55Speaker 1: Deborah Chow on this podcast. She's become one of the
- 29:58Speaker 1: hottest directors in town. She's one of the directors of
- 30:00Speaker 1: Mandalorian and she's directing UM the obi Wan TV show. Anyway.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Her first feature that she wrote and directed UM was
- 30:11Speaker 1: was there and it was called The High Cost of Living,
- 30:13Speaker 1: which I was going to say. The reason I would
- 30:16Speaker 1: imagine the reason why I wouldn't translate or in France
- 30:20Speaker 1: in France is because it's two different. French's close enough.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I mean, you can sound like this different, right, Sara,
- 30:28Speaker 1: you wouldn't know better than us. That sounds like you
- 30:30Speaker 1: can understand each other. That's like saying Haitians and montreal
- 30:34Speaker 1: people speak the same. French Man, it's a different I
- 30:37Speaker 1: don't think it's that different. Let's ask the people, the
- 30:39Speaker 1: person who's fluent, Sarah, is it that different? I mean,
- 30:42Speaker 1: they definitely are different. I feel like there's sort of
- 30:44Speaker 1: like a definitely people from France would like to definitely
- 30:50Speaker 1: think so like when I go to France and I'm
- 30:52Speaker 1: so excited to speak French at the markets and um,
- 30:57Speaker 1: I was learned speaking you know, all my my teachers
- 30:59Speaker 1: growing for friend Canadian Hello, Lola still good radio. They
- 31:11Speaker 1: Comedian radio the radio because it would be like chatting
- 31:14Speaker 1: all the time. I don't even know what she said,
- 31:20Speaker 1: but it shifted but that's French Canadian right there. That's
- 31:25Speaker 1: French Canadian. That's right now, Sarah, as I recall what
- 31:29Speaker 1: they no, it's a big difference between that and freaking
- 31:33Speaker 1: regular French. She just said it was different, but Donald
- 31:36Speaker 1: saying they can barely understand each other. You can go
- 31:38Speaker 1: there and they think you have an accent, but they
- 31:39Speaker 1: understand you. I mean, they were the words all the same. Yeah,
- 31:44Speaker 1: I just say, that's it real hard though. It's like,
- 31:49Speaker 1: it's like you're saying it like that instead of plus
- 31:52Speaker 1: some motherfucker, because that comes up all the time. Fish.
- 31:57Speaker 1: It's seat of being like it's stead of being like less.
- 32:05Speaker 1: I feel like they said we like this, Sarah, wet,
- 32:07Speaker 1: they go wet. What I remember is that they're going, um,
- 32:15Speaker 1: so sorry. Joel has told us that that song didn't
- 32:18Speaker 1: make the pilot, Sarah, So maybe it was in the cut.
- 32:20Speaker 1: You heard it in the cut, and it probably was
- 32:22Speaker 1: too expensive. I have to ask Bill now because I
- 32:23Speaker 1: don't know if I'm making that up, but I thought
- 32:25Speaker 1: it was in the cut of the pilot. But yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 1: maybe we had to wait till season three for our
- 32:29Speaker 1: boxer money to go to. Bill doesn't do the ask
- 32:34Speaker 1: Bill section. No, he does. You misunderstood Donald. It's not
- 32:37Speaker 1: that he was giving up doing the segment. He said
- 32:40Speaker 1: he just wanted to be more proactive in his contributions.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Isn't that right, Joel? Yes, that is correct. Okay, Can
- 32:46Speaker 1: we let's get back to the show. Okay, But I
- 32:48Speaker 1: just have so much to talk about. How about that
- 32:50Speaker 1: news article about us that was Sarah did you see that?
- 32:54Speaker 1: I saw it and I read it and congratulations and
- 32:58Speaker 1: I agree, and I mean just the just the like
- 33:03Speaker 1: in headline. Yeah, it was like the podcast of Quarantine.
- 33:06Speaker 1: How how Fake Doctor's Real Friends became the hit podcast
- 33:11Speaker 1: of Quarantine. Everybody, if you haven't seen it. E News
- 33:14Speaker 1: says that we're all amazing, and we agree, and it
- 33:18Speaker 1: is such a it's such a beautiful relief in the
- 33:21Speaker 1: midst of all of the shit. Like I find there
- 33:24Speaker 1: have been stressful moments obviously over the past seven months,
- 33:28Speaker 1: when someone gets sick and you're like, oh good now
- 33:30Speaker 1: that every symptoms on the docket. There's not really a
- 33:33Speaker 1: moment of relief if you're sick of wondering is is
- 33:36Speaker 1: it is? It's not it? And I have played I
- 33:40Speaker 1: remember one time I was really stressed. I played it
- 33:41Speaker 1: and it was you guys and Neil Flynn and I
- 33:43Speaker 1: laughed my ass off, and it does it just like
- 33:46Speaker 1: takes you out of all of the things. It's it's
- 33:49Speaker 1: so great. You know what takes me out of you
- 33:52Speaker 1: know what takes me out of thinking about shit too,
- 33:54Speaker 1: is watching you on vacation with your family, Sarah, and
- 33:58Speaker 1: you trying to the motor boat with the motor boat
- 34:01Speaker 1: trying to get the motor out of the water that, Sarah,
- 34:06Speaker 1: will you explain First of all, you should follow Sarah
- 34:09Speaker 1: Chalk on the social media, but oh my god, what
- 34:14Speaker 1: was going on with this with this video? Can you
- 34:15Speaker 1: explain to people that didn't see hilarious? So it's a
- 34:19Speaker 1: long video of my butt trying to pull up a motor.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I I'm just trying to So the motor is very
- 34:26Speaker 1: heavy and for some reason, why are you trying to
- 34:32Speaker 1: pull the what do they call those motors? The it's outboard.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Why are you trying to pull the outboard motor out
- 34:37Speaker 1: of the water. Because so it's an outboard motor, it's
- 34:40Speaker 1: like a twenty five or something, which is the horsepower,
- 34:44Speaker 1: and it's big and it's heavy, and it's on the
- 34:46Speaker 1: back of a tin boat, and so basically when you
- 34:49Speaker 1: beat it, you can't leave the outboard down or the
- 34:51Speaker 1: prop will get totally damaged. It just tilt up. So
- 34:55Speaker 1: this is a skill that my sisters have learned. Um
- 34:59Speaker 1: and because I lived in la and I just for
- 35:02Speaker 1: seventeen years, whatever, I just there's some skills I was missing.
- 35:05Speaker 1: So this summer I was like, I'm learning to drive
- 35:07Speaker 1: the boat. I'm learning to pull out the motor. The
- 35:09Speaker 1: motor is very hard, so you pull in, you got
- 35:11Speaker 1: to kind of time it out that you you know,
- 35:12Speaker 1: kill the motor, and then as you're coming into the beach,
- 35:15Speaker 1: you don' want to kill it two earlier you'll be
- 35:16Speaker 1: out to see and then you have to quickly grab
- 35:19Speaker 1: it and pull it up. But there's a way that
- 35:20Speaker 1: you can kind of like push down on the handle
- 35:22Speaker 1: to give yourself some you know, umph to get that
- 35:26Speaker 1: motor out. And I didn't know that I was doing
- 35:28Speaker 1: it till Piper, my sister, had videoed me trying for
- 35:32Speaker 1: about fifteen minutes to pull this motor out, and then
- 35:35Speaker 1: she played it back for me afterwards, and finally I
- 35:39Speaker 1: got up. I did bail and have a couple of
- 35:40Speaker 1: scrubs esque pratfalls. But what I didn't notice so I
- 35:43Speaker 1: watched it back, was every time I've always tried to
- 35:45Speaker 1: pull up that motor, I make the jd um and
- 35:54Speaker 1: it just like for summer. It was so funny watching
- 35:56Speaker 1: you try and pull an outboard motor out. I mean
- 35:58Speaker 1: it was like it was it was like watching an
- 36:01Speaker 1: episode of Three's Company. It was just I wish it
- 36:03Speaker 1: was set to music. It's just I mean, I can't.
- 36:09Speaker 1: I'm gotten telling you. It's heavy. It's heavy. I pictured
- 36:14Speaker 1: this is how you get around in Canada twenty five Yeah,
- 36:18Speaker 1: just in your little ten twenty boat with your twenty
- 36:21Speaker 1: five horse power. Speaking of Canada, are you guys watching
- 36:25Speaker 1: the show called the vale on um Hbo Max. It's
- 36:30Speaker 1: so good. I haven't seen it. I've heard it's so
- 36:33Speaker 1: great and we can discuss it at our next reunion.
- 36:35Speaker 1: I've heard it's amazing. I'm just behind y'all watching way
- 36:39Speaker 1: too much television. Man. It's like y'all need to get
- 36:42Speaker 1: some get them kid some kids something kids and kids.
- 36:47Speaker 1: You'll never watch television again? Well, Donald, what, I don't
- 36:50Speaker 1: watch that much TV. I watched TV. We watched TV
- 36:53Speaker 1: like for a few hours after Bark are you got
- 36:54Speaker 1: a new show every day? It's like, Yo, have you
- 36:56Speaker 1: guys watched the Perception? Well you watch You're you don't
- 37:02Speaker 1: watch it sounds TV after you have dinner, like like
- 37:05Speaker 1: many do we do. We we try and get into
- 37:08Speaker 1: a few good shows betwixt dinner and bedtime. Yeah, I don't.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I don't have the I don't do that. I get
- 37:16Speaker 1: to watch, I watch a little bit of sports. Then
- 37:19Speaker 1: then I you know, that's it. I go to bed.
- 37:22Speaker 1: I think that you're I think that you're unique in
- 37:24Speaker 1: that area. I think, especially during quarantine, there's there's a
- 37:27Speaker 1: lot of brilliant television right now to consume. Anyway, the
- 37:31Speaker 1: October and October, and I'm very excited for October. Anyway,
- 37:34Speaker 1: The Vow on HBO Max. I highly recommend you check
- 37:37Speaker 1: it out. It's really fucked up and very well told,
- 37:40Speaker 1: and it's about a cult and a lot of it
- 37:43Speaker 1: takes place in Vancouver. That's why I brought it up. Sarah.
- 37:46Speaker 1: I'm so glad you didn't get recruited into this sex
- 37:48Speaker 1: cult because they pulled in a lot of actors. It's real.
- 37:52Speaker 1: It's a real Is it based on nexium? Yes, it
- 37:56Speaker 1: is nexium. It is No, it's a documentary, Sarah. They're
- 38:00Speaker 1: they're They're showing all these beautiful young Canadian actresses that
- 38:04Speaker 1: got recruited into this thing, and I'm like, I'm so
- 38:06Speaker 1: glad they didn't get my Sarah. It is I feel
- 38:10Speaker 1: like it went it went down. I think like right
- 38:12Speaker 1: after I moved to la If, I'm right, Alison mac right,
- 38:15Speaker 1: she's the one that she becomes like one of the
- 38:17Speaker 1: fucking leaders of the ship. Branding them I listened to
- 38:21Speaker 1: I haven't watched that Boilers, but they brand boilers. They
- 38:24Speaker 1: brand them vagina adjacent. Yes, they brand them next to
- 38:27Speaker 1: the vaginas. Sarah, you're ruining the show. I just have
- 38:30Speaker 1: a couple more things. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 38:33Speaker 1: What is the name of this show. It's called The Vow.
- 38:37Speaker 1: It's on HBO Max. It is so fucked up, Daniel,
- 38:39Speaker 1: you watching it? Let me write down. Let me write
- 38:42Speaker 1: this and watch it. I'm so Sarah. Did anyone ever
- 38:45Speaker 1: come up to you and be like, I have a
- 38:46Speaker 1: really wonderful class. I want to take you to let
- 38:50Speaker 1: me show Let me just show you my branding. Oh
- 38:52Speaker 1: my god, she's she's lifting up her shirt. She's branded
- 38:55Speaker 1: everybody she's branded, and right at that moment, the lad
- 38:58Speaker 1: Lightning package went out. There we go, I don't mean
- 39:00Speaker 1: to make a joke out on everybody. It is really
- 39:02Speaker 1: fucked up, but you just can't believe it. You're watching
- 39:06Speaker 1: it with your jaw on the floor of this. It's
- 39:08Speaker 1: not only is it such a fucked up story, but
- 39:10Speaker 1: the documentarians did a really amazing job telling it. Because
- 39:13Speaker 1: you're just like, holy shit, I wonder if it's the
- 39:16Speaker 1: same documentarians that did they so they did a podcast
- 39:18Speaker 1: which I've listened to all the episodes about Nexium. I
- 39:21Speaker 1: think it was on the CBC a couple of years ago.
- 39:23Speaker 1: We don't talk about other podcasts. Yeah, I get that.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I just realized as it was coming out of my mouth, guys,
- 39:29Speaker 1: listen to my mouth, and I realized that it might
- 39:33Speaker 1: be a competitor. Um No. I was wearing my starting
- 39:38Speaker 1: my tu and I just broke in my garberator. All
- 39:40Speaker 1: of a sudden, I pulled out of the parcade. Sarah
- 39:44Speaker 1: say the most Canadian sentence you can. I think that
- 39:48Speaker 1: was it. That involved two which is your hat, your garberde,
- 39:49Speaker 1: which is our garbage spools in your parkade, which is
- 39:51Speaker 1: a parking structure, and then you say Suri suriy and
- 39:57Speaker 1: then you say, I'm just off to have you guys,
- 40:00Speaker 1: anyone seem like Gilda tuk No, what's that? What? Yeah?
- 40:07Speaker 1: It was it was a It was a yes, a
- 40:09Speaker 1: movie that we were forced to watch in French class
- 40:11Speaker 1: every year growing up. Um, all right, Donald, you on
- 40:13Speaker 1: your phone right now? What the fuck are you doing.
- 40:15Speaker 1: I'm waiting to get into the show. You guys are
- 40:18Speaker 1: so you've checked out of the show. You're still on
- 40:19Speaker 1: your phone. I'm not really social media looking at animation
- 40:26Speaker 1: videos on YouTube right now. I'm not big anymore. Dude.
- 40:29Speaker 1: That ship was fucking like a half an hour or
- 40:32Speaker 1: a time. Did you say, oh, you got a high
- 40:34Speaker 1: a half hour ago and you're not still high? What
- 40:36Speaker 1: has we've been we've been doing We've been doing the
- 40:39Speaker 1: show for over a half an hour, so it can't
- 40:41Speaker 1: be a half hour ago. Wait, I didn't know that, Donald,
- 40:43Speaker 1: I missed the beginning. Yeah he's high. We've lost that.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I didn't know that. I underneath the death. By the way, Sarah,
- 40:50Speaker 1: it's a prefet analogy. We all came back for season
- 40:53Speaker 1: three feeling ourselves. I got a little Tommy phoning it in.
- 40:56Speaker 1: I'm cocky. Donald comes into season three the podcast Big
- 41:00Speaker 1: in his phone. Listen, hold on, time out, Time out,
- 41:04Speaker 1: time out, Buddy, listen, I am not high right now. Okay,
- 41:08Speaker 1: so let's kay. I am worn off. It's worn off.
- 41:11Speaker 1: It's completely worn off. I am. I need some of
- 41:13Speaker 1: this quick wear off weed because if I get high,
- 41:16Speaker 1: it's been hours. It's been about it's been hours. My
- 41:19Speaker 1: point is it should be one of our products, Quick
- 41:21Speaker 1: wear off weed, by fake doctrines, real friends. Oh my god,
- 41:24Speaker 1: we make so much money. You can be, you can be,
- 41:27Speaker 1: you can be high, but it lasts, it goes away
- 41:29Speaker 1: after a half hour. All right, all right, let's show.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Thank you, all right, thank you. Forty three minutes in,
- 41:36Speaker 1: we've finally gotten to this. Okay, So we talked about
- 41:41Speaker 1: your hair already. We talked about your weight and everything
- 41:43Speaker 1: like that, right, George Michael in the beginning. Yeah, so
- 41:48Speaker 1: what's the difference. You can you can sing, George Michael,
- 41:51Speaker 1: and as long as it's not the actual music and
- 41:54Speaker 1: George Michael singing and doesn't cost any money. But if
- 41:57Speaker 1: you know, I'm sure too. We had three songs in
- 41:59Speaker 1: this episode. This is how much Bill was feeling our
- 42:01Speaker 1: budget after on season two. Uh, Tom, Petty, George, Michael,
- 42:06Speaker 1: you two. I imagine it's a very expensive song. I
- 42:10Speaker 1: think we shot probably half the half the show's music
- 42:13Speaker 1: budget in the first episode. But um, but uh yeah,
- 42:16Speaker 1: So I'm dancing and Donald says, what's the rule about
- 42:20Speaker 1: white boys dancing in public? And I go, not allowed
- 42:23Speaker 1: unless you're gay. And then this amazing guy comes in
- 42:29Speaker 1: and dances like crazy and does this move and we
- 42:31Speaker 1: go Morning Stephen, which we then name our dog, our
- 42:38Speaker 1: second dog. Um. But the funniest right off the bat,
- 42:44Speaker 1: would you like if I could touch your body? No,
- 42:46Speaker 1: not you, sir? Yeah, if I could touch your body,
- 42:52Speaker 1: not you, sir. And then okay, let's get let's get
- 42:57Speaker 1: to the basketball game. Smack talk Yeah, the small talking
- 43:01Speaker 1: Oma Butler Omoja, I want to say, right, Omoja Butler? Yeah,
- 43:07Speaker 1: uh it has probably that's that joke made me laugh,
- 43:10Speaker 1: probably the hardest out of all of the jokes in
- 43:12Speaker 1: the show, where he's like, I'm gonna toast you so
- 43:16Speaker 1: bad your mother is not gonna recognize you. And you go, oh, yeah,
- 43:20Speaker 1: well I heard just just have started drinking again. And
- 43:24Speaker 1: then you're like the true and he starts crying, ay right,
- 43:29Speaker 1: and then you go, oh, it's not supposed to be true. Yeah,
- 43:33Speaker 1: you like let it all out. Yeah yeah, you go
- 43:36Speaker 1: like let him flow or something. And then yeah, and
- 43:39Speaker 1: it's just your delivery. Yeah, well I heard your sister
- 43:42Speaker 1: started drinking again. And I love that j D doesn't
- 43:49Speaker 1: not a smack talk. He's like, oh, it's it's not
- 43:50Speaker 1: supposed to be true. And then also, this is this
- 43:55Speaker 1: is the episode that Frick started. Yeah, two forty three,
- 43:58Speaker 1: everybody a mom are first Frick? What's the genesis of Frick?
- 44:04Speaker 1: I wish I remembered. I don't remember. I don't know.
- 44:07Speaker 1: I don't remember. I don't know if it was me
- 44:08Speaker 1: your bill and then it then it developed went to
- 44:12Speaker 1: double frick, and then frick on a stick with a brick.
- 44:16Speaker 1: It was frick, double frick, frick on a stick on
- 44:19Speaker 1: a stick, stick with a brick. It became one of
- 44:23Speaker 1: Sarah's catchphrases. She finally got her what you're talking about?
- 44:25Speaker 1: Willis say, I got it? In season three Season season three,
- 44:29Speaker 1: she got her frick. I didn't get a box there,
- 44:31Speaker 1: but I got a frick. Yeah, but I did. I
- 44:35Speaker 1: did get that pink cashmere Juicy jogger set that I
- 44:37Speaker 1: wore in that frick scene. I remember they let me
- 44:39Speaker 1: take that home. Oh yeah, girl. Do you remember Juicy Ya?
- 44:43Speaker 1: Do you remember Juicy Juicy Cashmere? Yeah, man, Juicy with
- 44:52Speaker 1: the gym everybody had and it was sweatsuits. It was
- 44:55Speaker 1: a bunch of sweatsuits and everybody was paying three hundred
- 44:59Speaker 1: dollars for sweatsuit. Yeah, Juicy, they figured it out, Juicy. Um.
- 45:05Speaker 1: So you know, frick comes from you can't You know?
- 45:07Speaker 1: On TV shows and network you're always trying to work
- 45:10Speaker 1: around places where you'd actually curse. Some shows like do
- 45:13Speaker 1: It and Beep It, which which I guess is easier
- 45:17Speaker 1: if you're more documentary style, like like The Office or
- 45:20Speaker 1: Modern Family or something. Um, some shows the Good Place
- 45:25Speaker 1: very creatively made it fork because they were in like
- 45:29Speaker 1: this supposedly in this like heaven type setting where where
- 45:34Speaker 1: it just automatically changes all your curses to better words.
- 45:37Speaker 1: But so so frick allowed Sarah to say fuck without
- 45:40Speaker 1: saying fuck. There's one more there's one more place that
- 45:44Speaker 1: they changed the word and so you wouldn't say fucking.
- 45:47Speaker 1: That was Battlestar Galactica and they said frak And that
- 45:51Speaker 1: became are you frakin kidding me? Are you frakin kidding me?
- 45:54Speaker 1: Right now? But that they never explained it, or they
- 45:56Speaker 1: just just did it. They just did it for the
- 45:58Speaker 1: whole the whole run of the show. It would be like,
- 46:01Speaker 1: what the frack are you talking about? Oh, frack, I'm
- 46:04Speaker 1: gonna frack you up. You can say friggin um, which
- 46:07Speaker 1: I always thought was it, which was a comfortable alternative. Yeah,
- 46:11Speaker 1: but some people don't like friggin It doesn't have the
- 46:13Speaker 1: power that fuck has or frick or frick. You need
- 46:18Speaker 1: the k, you need the k frick. You know that
- 46:20Speaker 1: to make a movie PG thirteen, Uh, you're allowed one
- 46:25Speaker 1: fuck in a PG thirteen movie, and it can't be
- 46:28Speaker 1: as sexual. Fuck. You can't be like, oh I want
- 46:30Speaker 1: to fuck her, but you can be like what the fuck?
- 46:34Speaker 1: Oh I didn't know old trivia for you. So you
- 46:37Speaker 1: have to pick your fuck if you're if you're directing
- 46:39Speaker 1: a PG thirteen movie, they're like, all right, pick your fuck,
- 46:41Speaker 1: what do you want? And then next rating you can
- 46:44Speaker 1: do are you consider what you want? Yeah? Okay, so
- 46:49Speaker 1: there's some sorry, go ahead, go ahead ahead. I'm trying
- 46:51Speaker 1: to think of the other Oh. PG thirteen rules. They
- 46:56Speaker 1: probably changed there used to be like um obviously sex um,
- 47:00Speaker 1: there were some other other ones forgot drug use. Maybe
- 47:03Speaker 1: I don't know. All right, go ahead, Donald, Uh, Kelso's
- 47:07Speaker 1: nose squeaks the entire episode. Before we get to Kelso's nose.
- 47:09Speaker 1: What about Sarah losing her car door? I mean that
- 47:11Speaker 1: was hilarious. Further and then carrying it around the hospital
- 47:16Speaker 1: with me, so doesn't get stolen. Now, this is something
- 47:18Speaker 1: that this is something that goes on. This joke continues
- 47:23Speaker 1: through other episodes because you you later on have like
- 47:26Speaker 1: a taxicab door, like a yellow on your car and
- 47:31Speaker 1: everything like that. So this is a joke that continues
- 47:33Speaker 1: with your brand new card. Am I right? Or am
- 47:35Speaker 1: I wrong? Yeah? That's right. I forgot about that. I
- 47:38Speaker 1: think that's right. Yeah she did. She didn't get the
- 47:41Speaker 1: matching colored door. She just got it was the same
- 47:43Speaker 1: door of her car, but it was yellow. Um. Yeah,
- 47:49Speaker 1: so that I thought that was very funny. Um And
- 47:53Speaker 1: then yeah, so sorry, Donald, go to go to Kelso's
- 47:56Speaker 1: squeaky nose, which is very funny for the whole episode.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Kelso has a squeaking because of the punch he received
- 48:02Speaker 1: from doctor Cox and that shit is left. Yo. Every
- 48:06Speaker 1: time Ken would uh inhale, it would squeak. It's only
- 48:10Speaker 1: on the inhale. Though it's not on the exhale, It's
- 48:12Speaker 1: only on the inhale. So every time inhale. I love
- 48:17Speaker 1: how people hate him so much that even though the
- 48:19Speaker 1: room was packed, He's like, miraculously no one was. Sorry, Sammy,
- 48:25Speaker 1: Sammy in the background going like ceting now my dive
- 48:31Speaker 1: under the gurney. I replated it a few times because
- 48:33Speaker 1: I thought it was a cowboy switch scene. I couldn't
- 48:36Speaker 1: figure out if it was or not. I watched Was
- 48:40Speaker 1: that a cowboy switch? I feel like it was. I
- 48:42Speaker 1: feel like you came running up in the hallway and
- 48:46Speaker 1: from the back, then it was cowboy switch and then
- 48:47Speaker 1: you popped up. I know, but it was so seamless.
- 48:50Speaker 1: That good. That so for those of you who don't
- 48:53Speaker 1: remember a cowboy switches when the actor who's not a
- 48:56Speaker 1: stuntman is hiding and the stuntman does something in saying
- 49:00Speaker 1: and then kind of goes off camera and then the
- 49:02Speaker 1: real actor plops up. So JD does this insane sort
- 49:06Speaker 1: of slide under a gurney and then I pop up.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I'm pretty I'm like, I'm pretty sure it's a cowboy switch,
- 49:12Speaker 1: but man, it is seamless. You cannot tell. It's so
- 49:14Speaker 1: like the timing of me coming up was so brazy.
- 49:18Speaker 1: It's over. And I mean, you did always, for the
- 49:20Speaker 1: most part, try your own falls always, so it's very pausible.
- 49:24Speaker 1: I did. I did. I did a lot of them.
- 49:25Speaker 1: But when when when when you know the thing about
- 49:27Speaker 1: a stunt man is there is when there's a real chance, like, okay,
- 49:30Speaker 1: you could get hurt doing this one, like like when
- 49:33Speaker 1: I exit the room that's clearly at it takes a
- 49:36Speaker 1: really hard fall on the gurney tipping over. So you
- 49:39Speaker 1: don't want your actors breaking anything because then you can't
- 49:43Speaker 1: fucking make the show. So a lot of these actors, also,
- 49:47Speaker 1: stunt people often don't get paid well. They get like
- 49:50Speaker 1: one rate to show up, but then often they won't
- 49:53Speaker 1: get more money unless they do the thing. So sometimes
- 49:57Speaker 1: I feel for stunt people who are like, oh, come on,
- 49:59Speaker 1: I know you want to show off and do it yourself,
- 50:01Speaker 1: but let me fucking do this stunt and right, and
- 50:04Speaker 1: so I often tried to do them. But but but
- 50:06Speaker 1: some of them were I could like break a hand.
- 50:08Speaker 1: They were like, no, you're not doing that. I would still,
- 50:11Speaker 1: even not doing my own stunts. Come once a season
- 50:14Speaker 1: two scrubs on crutches with having torn the ligaments in
- 50:17Speaker 1: my left ankle. I think it was about once a year,
- 50:19Speaker 1: and I'd be like, Randall, I'm so sorry. So they
- 50:23Speaker 1: would like they would have me like standing behind beside
- 50:25Speaker 1: the bed and standing in a lot of scenes and
- 50:28Speaker 1: not walking. How many times did you get injured making
- 50:30Speaker 1: this show? I feel like it was it was always
- 50:33Speaker 1: my ankle, and it was never doing anything fabulous. I
- 50:35Speaker 1: would come to send people like how'd you do it?
- 50:36Speaker 1: And I'd be like, I was walking Lola, and I
- 50:39Speaker 1: ripped on a pine gun on the sidewalk, and then
- 50:42Speaker 1: it was yeah, it was. It was basically the first
- 50:44Speaker 1: time I did it. I was in college and my
- 50:46Speaker 1: leg was crossed and my foot fell asleep, and I
- 50:49Speaker 1: was in like a five hundred personal lecture hall and
- 50:51Speaker 1: I got up to ask the professor question and I
- 50:53Speaker 1: went down like I went over my ankle. I rolled
- 50:55Speaker 1: my ankle and it swole up to the size of
- 50:57Speaker 1: a grapefruit and they X rayed it. And I was
- 51:00Speaker 1: nineteen years old, and I had a growth plate that
- 51:04Speaker 1: hadn't closed because I haven't finished growing, but they thought
- 51:06Speaker 1: it was a hairline fracture, so by mistake put me
- 51:07Speaker 1: into a plaster cast up to my knee and I
- 51:10Speaker 1: went to go film an episode of The Rosanne Show
- 51:11Speaker 1: and she was like. Roseanne was like, it doesn't make
- 51:14Speaker 1: sense you would have that. Get that taken off, and
- 51:16Speaker 1: so I did, even though like that's like a kid
- 51:18Speaker 1: who has like you know, a potentially like I don't
- 51:22Speaker 1: even what's wrong take that cast. So they asked me
- 51:25Speaker 1: to take the cast off, so I did, and the
- 51:26Speaker 1: doctor down there was like, you're it's actually a blessing
- 51:29Speaker 1: in disguise, because this is like a growth plate that
- 51:31Speaker 1: hasn't closed. It's not a hairline fracture. If it's not broken.
- 51:34Speaker 1: You just sprained it really badly, and that's why it
- 51:36Speaker 1: swole up so much. So's coldness actually helped you. It
- 51:40Speaker 1: was it was such a it was a gift, man,
- 51:42Speaker 1: it's all for you. I want to tell everyone about
- 51:44Speaker 1: Lola Sarah's seven thousand dollar dog and we'll explain it
- 51:48Speaker 1: right after these were and we're bad bad, come Mack,
- 52:01Speaker 1: I know I'm allowed to join him on that. I
- 52:03Speaker 1: just was inspired you're just not allowed to read the
- 52:07Speaker 1: producer notes as you would call. Oh right, okay, hold on, Donald, No,
- 52:16Speaker 1: but you're not hot, You're not hig at all. Right, Sarah,
- 52:23Speaker 1: tell everyone who's listening about your seven thousand dollar dog.
- 52:26Speaker 1: And before you judge everyone, No, she didn't go buy
- 52:29Speaker 1: some boutique, fancy expensive that was. That was a big
- 52:33Speaker 1: evening for us too. What what was the evening? What
- 52:35Speaker 1: were we doing? Where were It was a charity, sarady.
- 52:38Speaker 1: You remember what the cause was. It was the Help Group.
- 52:40Speaker 1: It was for autism with children with autism, and it
- 52:43Speaker 1: was um, Jeff Zucker, who was the boss at NBC.
- 52:46Speaker 1: Well you remember that Donald infamously gave the noogie two
- 52:49Speaker 1: that our first part, Please Donald, No, please Donald. Uh.
- 52:53Speaker 1: So we were there and we were excited. I think
- 52:56Speaker 1: it was like season two, um, and season one or
- 52:59Speaker 1: season two, and we went and Jeff Zucker was our
- 53:01Speaker 1: boss and the night was to honor him and his
- 53:04Speaker 1: contribution to the Help Group as well. And so there
- 53:06Speaker 1: was this little chocolate lab that they were having as
- 53:09Speaker 1: part of the auction to raise money, and I really
- 53:13Speaker 1: just paused there, pause there. Did they have one dog
- 53:15Speaker 1: or several? It was just one. All right. So I
- 53:18Speaker 1: recall it was an auction obviously to raise money for
- 53:20Speaker 1: for autism, and they geniusly brought in this puppy that
- 53:25Speaker 1: was the cutest chocolate lab puppy you've ever seen. It
- 53:28Speaker 1: was like tiny, fit in your palm, in your hands,
- 53:31Speaker 1: and it was probably I don't know, I'm guessing ten
- 53:33Speaker 1: weeks old. And the idea was, you know, we're gonna
- 53:37Speaker 1: get They wanted everyone, and then you got everyone like
- 53:39Speaker 1: buzzed on alcohol, and then the idea is like, all right,
- 53:41Speaker 1: who's you guys are gonna bid on who gets to
- 53:44Speaker 1: take home this dog? And they brought they brought her around,
- 53:47Speaker 1: like you're saying to like to get everybody super excited.
- 53:50Speaker 1: It brought her around. I was holding her, this little
- 53:53Speaker 1: chocolate brown nugget. She was yeah, she was like tiny,
- 53:55Speaker 1: she's ten weeks old. And I was wearing a chocolate
- 53:57Speaker 1: brown dress. I remember it was my was my bride's
- 54:00Speaker 1: made stress from my sister's wedding. And so I'm falling
- 54:07Speaker 1: in love with this dog. And then the bidding starts
- 54:09Speaker 1: in the room and I'm bidding on her, and the
- 54:11Speaker 1: whole I fall over. The soul's rest from everyone's going crazy,
- 54:13Speaker 1: everyone's bidding on it, and so finally I just gave
- 54:15Speaker 1: up because it was insane. It got too high. And
- 54:18Speaker 1: then the whole cast on the table, you guys all
- 54:21Speaker 1: whispered to each other. And then when the bidding came
- 54:23Speaker 1: to write before the ending, you all like stood up
- 54:25Speaker 1: and put your arms up and and got her for me,
- 54:28Speaker 1: and and we all split the costacus each a thousand dollars. Wait,
- 54:33Speaker 1: how long? How long did it take for me to
- 54:34Speaker 1: pay you the thousand dollars? Did you ever pay? I
- 54:37Speaker 1: did pay her? Okay, how long? I don't remember her.
- 54:41Speaker 1: I don't remember. Buddy just was the most sweetest, thoughtful,
- 54:43Speaker 1: touching thing ever. And she obviously like became her scrubs
- 54:47Speaker 1: mascot and came to scrubs to work every day. And
- 54:50Speaker 1: I loved her so much. She was very I think
- 54:52Speaker 1: I paid for Lola like season eight or nine. Finally
- 54:58Speaker 1: gave the money. In life, I remember, and whenever we
- 55:00Speaker 1: had group things the chippen on, like crew gifts or
- 55:03Speaker 1: or or getting getting something for the crew, or in
- 55:06Speaker 1: this case giving money to charity for Sarah's dog, Johnny
- 55:09Speaker 1: C would pay you like an hour later he'd be
- 55:11Speaker 1: like fast money makes fast friends. That was one of
- 55:14Speaker 1: his Johnny seism would be like fast money makes fast friends.
- 55:17Speaker 1: And then John was the polar opposite. Donald would be
- 55:20Speaker 1: like eight years later, he'd be like, Yo, did I
- 55:22Speaker 1: ever pay you for the dog? And then I remember
- 55:29Speaker 1: I was the one who I was so disorganized. I
- 55:30Speaker 1: just would never cash the check. And Ken would be like, Sarah,
- 55:33Speaker 1: you haven't cashed the check yet. I hate those people. So, Lola,
- 55:40Speaker 1: when you went into Sarah's dressing room, I know we
- 55:41Speaker 1: brought this up another time, but it was like the
- 55:44Speaker 1: It was like if you've ever seen the show Hoarders,
- 55:46Speaker 1: it was like that, but worse. It was like it
- 55:48Speaker 1: was sort of bios. There was like a soup. There
- 55:51Speaker 1: was like an open soup can from two seasons ago
- 55:54Speaker 1: and like like looked like exploded. It kind of is like,
- 55:59Speaker 1: as if is that this pages of notes was my
- 56:02Speaker 1: dressing room, right, because if if this kind of like
- 56:04Speaker 1: raining not so Ken Jenkins is trying to manage his
- 56:08Speaker 1: check book and Sarah just throws a check for a
- 56:10Speaker 1: thousand dollars in there somewhere can of soup from two
- 56:14Speaker 1: seasons ago. Is true, But my nickname was Super breakfast
- 56:16Speaker 1: because I would always have soup all the time, and
- 56:18Speaker 1: you guys be like, oh, soup for breakfast for breakfast.
- 56:22Speaker 1: I love I love soups. I mean I have my
- 56:25Speaker 1: hot tea right now. There's always something hot in my hands.
- 56:27Speaker 1: It's like either soup or tea or Yeah. But that's guys,
- 56:29Speaker 1: you run cold. That's only that's the run cold. A
- 56:32Speaker 1: bad circulation. She was fourteen. Oh she died. Lola died.
- 56:38Speaker 1: She did she literally she was fourteen years old. That's
- 56:41Speaker 1: pretty dumn good for a lab it was. It's been
- 56:44Speaker 1: over fourteen years, I guess. Holy shit, Wow, it's it's
- 56:49Speaker 1: been twenty one. Yeah. Um yo. This is the first
- 56:55Speaker 1: episode that I that orange Google Googo, So I think
- 57:02Speaker 1: this came from um. Like this was at the height
- 57:04Speaker 1: of the jamba juice craze, um, which I don't used
- 57:07Speaker 1: to drink. I don't drink anymore because someone told me
- 57:10Speaker 1: that there's like so much sugar in them and why
- 57:12Speaker 1: are you drinking jomba juice? But um Sarah Sarah, Wait everybody, Oh,
- 57:18Speaker 1: I'm laughing at everyone. Um wait a second, Oh Jesus,
- 57:24Speaker 1: is this the grease to Face episode? No, it's not. Yes,
- 57:27Speaker 1: this is no, it's not did you watch the episode?
- 57:31Speaker 1: But then no, I did, come on, man, this is
- 57:34Speaker 1: We don't say grease to face on the show because
- 57:37Speaker 1: the grease to face episode was when Sarah had to
- 57:39Speaker 1: come in looking like, like really distressed and bad. She
- 57:42Speaker 1: doesn't have that moment. She comes in with a makeover.
- 57:44Speaker 1: She never has a moment where she looks bad. Well,
- 57:46Speaker 1: they did give her playing Jane hair this episode, like
- 57:49Speaker 1: everything is accented for the reveal at the end. There's
- 57:53Speaker 1: no moment where she was supposed to look sweaty and
- 57:55Speaker 1: we we teased her saying, come on, look worse than that.
- 57:58Speaker 1: But there's no moment in this episode or she like
- 58:00Speaker 1: was supposed to look particularly bad. And I want to
- 58:02Speaker 1: hear your thoughts on your makeover, big makeover in this
- 58:04Speaker 1: I want to know what your thoughts are run on
- 58:06Speaker 1: this dramatic, choppy Bob m Janitor. I still like fight
- 58:15Speaker 1: what That's one of the greatest scenes in the episode.
- 58:17Speaker 1: I'll let you answer the question that scene. I wrote
- 58:20Speaker 1: that down. I really want to talk about the Elliott
- 58:22Speaker 1: and Janitor. We're gonna get into that, but I just
- 58:24Speaker 1: want to know what in the macro what did you
- 58:25Speaker 1: think of this big makeover, because it's always a lot
- 58:27Speaker 1: of pressure when they're like, oh my god, that's a
- 58:29Speaker 1: character makeover and you todd as hell, don't get me wrong,
- 58:32Speaker 1: coming in and your eye makeup and your bob. But
- 58:35Speaker 1: I just like, I don't know, I guess I just
- 58:36Speaker 1: liked you with your little you know, your your before hair.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I mean, I remember being I remember at the time
- 58:42Speaker 1: being very excited about it because like I remember that
- 58:46Speaker 1: they had me leave at lunch and I raced over
- 58:48Speaker 1: town and this guy in Beverly Hills cut and then
- 58:50Speaker 1: had me race back and and I got to wear
- 58:54Speaker 1: my first pair of True Religion jeans, which was very
- 58:56Speaker 1: exciting to me, and that was like a fancy brand
- 59:02Speaker 1: at the time, I think, very fancy and um, and
- 59:06Speaker 1: then Darla Albright are awesome makeup artists put all this
- 59:09Speaker 1: like smoky eye makeup on me, and I remember having
- 59:14Speaker 1: fun and enjoying it at the time, and looking back,
- 59:18Speaker 1: I mean, I just, yeah, I guess I feel like,
- 59:22Speaker 1: you know, there was a line in one of the
- 59:24Speaker 1: episodes when Bill liked to put truisms into our dialogue
- 59:28Speaker 1: that was short hair gives me pig face, and so yeah,
- 59:33Speaker 1: so that sometimes. I always sometimes I feel like with
- 59:35Speaker 1: short hair gives me pig face. I don't think you
- 59:38Speaker 1: looked beautiful. You looked got Don't get me wrong. I
- 59:41Speaker 1: just maybe I'm just not into Bob's is a personal thing.
- 59:45Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, don't get me wrong, it
- 59:46Speaker 1: looked gorgeous, but I, oh, I am. I just today
- 59:50Speaker 1: my Amazons like now with your with your with your
- 59:53Speaker 1: like your dreadlock hair. It really looks amazing. I think
- 59:57Speaker 1: Danil and Joe Hell can weigh in. It's pretty fancy.
- 59:59Speaker 1: So I just you know, we're in a pandemic, and um,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I ordered hair cutting scissors from Amazon, and I just
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: was overly excited, and so I just tried to cut
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: my own hair this morning. And I literally like have
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: only had one person who lives in LA when I've
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: gone back for recordings or whatever, I've had to got
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: my hair. And so I just kind of was like,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I think Gregory goes something like this, and he does this.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: And then my niece was like on YouTube, if you
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: just put your hair in a ponytail and then you
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: just like kind of cut the top kind of so
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: that I did it. I don't know, I don't see
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: when we'll see it's dry now, so I don't know.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: I haven't take it. We'll see it looks a little
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: bit longer on. If that fails, you can always get
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: the dude the proverb the one cut that works for everybody.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: You get a bowl and you put it over your
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: head and you just cut on the outline of a bowl.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: I didn't know this trick. So if I'm not happy
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: with this, it's called the mo the mo from the
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Three Stooges. The mo the mo. Okay, Donald, If I'm
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: not pleased with the results when this dry is, I'm
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: going to do that. When Ted turns to Carl and says,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: so you're engaged to that surgeon guy, she goes yeah,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: he goes, is it serious? Serious? No? We swing yes.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: So so Ted first hit on Sarah last episode because
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Sarah and then last episode you were crying and he's
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: kind of like want to get a drink and uh.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: And in this episode he's trying the Carla angle. He's
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: just really he's really clutching at straws here. He looked
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: so beautiful in this episode. By the way, Yeah she did.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: How about when she she goes to seduce the uh,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: or at least blackmail the doctor that she hooked up with,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: and you're waiting out the outside and she kind she
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: comes out and she lowers her top like she just
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: hooked up with him. Yeahs, Like, how is that funny?
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Let's get to the Elliott and the janitor in the
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: men's room. Yeah, so funny. This is the first time
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: we established that because we don't know his name, that
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Elliott decided she's going to call him janitor and it's
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: always high pitched, and he got more in my high
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: pitched by the episode, Like this was the first one
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: that we did that, and then by season eight it
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: was like just Hire and I and sometimes we would
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: do takes where it was not even audible and be
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: like they're probably never going to use this, but how
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: high can we possibly? I love that the janitor doesn't
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: even flinch. He's just like, yeah, as though you said
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: his name, yeah, yeah, Oh my god, Neil in this scene.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: For some reason, some things like this scene I remember
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: like we shot it yesterday. It feels like so recent.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: I don't know why. Um and oh my god, he
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: made me laughed so hard when he's talking about my
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: grandmother that was actually my mother and my mother, my
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: sister who was my mom, my grandmother thought she was
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: my mother, My sister was my mom, and my brother
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: dad dad. Not just that when you well, when you
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: say to him and you're like, you're like, you know,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: and my life's turned pretty much turned upside down. Do
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: you ever feel like that he goes, nah, because I'm
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: a winner. Just just the fact that the janitor, the
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: janitor of the hospital's reply is no, because I'm a wit.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: I wonder if, like I wonder if the janitor with
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: you know, because we never know when he's telling the
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: truth or when he's lying, if maybe because he fancies
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Sarah that he is telling the truth, Like we have
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: no idea when he says this brother dad, if any
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: of it's true and he's if he's just a fucking
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: total liar. I feel like with Sarah, maybe maybe with
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Elliott he was like, you know, truthful. I mean, I'm
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: just thinking that for the first time. Well, I don't
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: know what to think he was. I like to think
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: a lot of this is a lot of what the
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: janitor tells us is true, like when he brings out
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: the cage h at Turk and Carla's baby shower, when
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: he brings out the cage for the baby is because
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: he had one when he was a kid when they
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: wanted to you know what I mean. But we never know,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: you know, unless you're cutting to his house, like when
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: he has a squirrel army and you actually see the
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: squirrel army. You know, you just never know. It's so
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: fun to watch Neil in these scenes though, because he
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: always throws in like obviously the dialogue and um, you
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: know how the writers would write or whatever Neil says,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: and he would come up with something insanely funny on
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: the spot. Um. But like even the stuff he does,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: like on this scene where he just like is talking
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: to me and he randomly smells the urinal cake just
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: like in the middle of the line it's a good year.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: I laughed out loud. When when you see Scott Fully
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: in the smoothie place and uh, he says, I thought
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: you hanted this place because the time you got sick
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: here and you go you remember that and he goes,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: you got sick on my face. He's so dry. He's
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: is the master. I think Scott Fully is coming on
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: next episode because yeah, yeah, that's the Sea World episode
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: and I and he's down. But because that's when dolphin
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: but but um but sarah, uh. He was your scene partner,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: so you can speak to this even better. But god,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: no one delivers a straight man line like that guy
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: just you got sick on my face. And he he
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: doesn't break ever, Yeah, it doesn't break, doesn't break, no
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: matter what, he just doesn't break. He doesn't break, doesn't
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: crack up. Yeah, oh my god, all over the floor.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: And then in front of his new hot girlfriend and
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: you're like, and he goes, it's okay, it happens. That
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: is really funny. So you think, you're like, oh my god,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: this is Sean, this is fate. And then in walks
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: like the pretty new girlfriend and you just look at it.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Take one look at her, and you bugle on the floor.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: You know. I found it really interesting that they After that,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: they go outside with the two of them, with Sean
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: and this new girlfriend for the dialogue, so that you
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: understand that he still kind of has feelings for Elliott.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: But he has to tell her that he has the
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: smoothies on her roof or she's gonna be driving in
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: traffic and hit the brakes and that's going to scare
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: the shit out of her, and he knows it's going
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: to cause an accident, so he gives the Elliott you
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: left the smoothies on your roof. She smashes on the
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: brake like they're meant for each other, they're perfect for
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: each other, and then ansog all over the and then
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: you lose the other door with the That was fucking hilarious.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I laughed, Yeah, I laughed at Sara. You're very funny, Sarah.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Sarah's cool guy, Like try Sarah Elliot's mustering everything she
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: can to look cute and cool in front of the
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: new girlfriend. She does like with no door and the
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: smoothies on her roof, double frin and then and then
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: like scoff only delivery. When we're in that scene with
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: the with the smoothies and I give some random, long
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: explanation of some dream that I have and he's like, yeah,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I'm doing about the same too. Yeah, he's so funny.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: He's we gotta do a show with him, like when
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: we make our Space Janitor TV show. Um, whatever the
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: next thing is, we gotta we gotta pob Scott. I
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: want to do something with Scott Foley. Nobody so funny.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: What do you want to do with Scott Foy, Buddy,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I know we should we should go to break, We
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: should go to break, we should go to break. Do
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: we need to go to break too? Well? And what
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: about the guest? We have a gu guess this here
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: we can but so with Sarah Chalk here, it's so exciting.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: We have so much to talk about. All right, we're
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: gonna go to break, guys, and we come back. Not
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: only are we gonna have more of America's favorite Canadian
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: Sarah Chalk, we are going to have a guest. And
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: it's very hard to top last episodes guests, Joel, because
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: people really really love the guy who had sex at
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: a funeral while sitting on a toilet. Um. So I
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: hope that this guest can top that. We'll be right back.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: All right, here we go, everybody. We're back. We're back,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: We're back. We're back with the delightful Sarah Chalk, the
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: wonderful Sarah Chalk, the glorious. And here is Adam Burger. Hi, Adam,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Adam Burger. You got a full house today, you got
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: a full house. You got three interns, the King and
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: oh my gosh, Hi guys, Hi man, welcome to the program.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Fake doctor's real friends. We really appreciate you being here.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: You must be an extraordinary guest because we had such
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: a memorable guest in the last episode that Joelle has
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: really upped her game, and I know she wouldn't follow
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: last week's sex on a toilet at a funeral with
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: someone who wasn't worthy of following. That was the story
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: that you wrote in to get on the show. Yeah. So, um,
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: I too musical theater at a an arts high school
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: here and I've been a Scrub super fan since it aired.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: I'm your guys's age, I'm forty five and I've been
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: watching it since it aired. And in two thousand and eight,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: my class, my advanced class of high schoolers, we decided
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: to do the Scrubs musical episode. Oh my god. What?
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: And so I was obviously I knew the episode really,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: really well, and I didn't, you know, being a teacher,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I'm very cognizant of you know, rights and royalties and stuff.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: And I'm like, well, I don't want to even work
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: on this if I don't have permission. So I sought
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: out Jeff Marks, who's one of the composers of the songs,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: and he didn't have a new Queue as well, and
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I found his website and I emailed him and he
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: I didn't really expect to hear back, but he wrote
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: me a very long email, very friendly, basically saying, you know,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: I didn't write everything. Deborah Fordham was the episode writer,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: and she wrote a lot of the stuff too, but
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: she said, you know, he said, you're not charging for it,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: are you? And I said, well, no, I'm it's just
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: like a class project that we're doing. He said, then
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: don't worry about it. Nobody's going to carry So we
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: didn't even publish the music from it or anything. So
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: I'm a pianist and a musician, and I arranged all
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: the songs. Oh my god, Fought under the Stack just
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: so happened to have like the exact right students that year,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: like the right demographics to do that too. And I'm like,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys know scrubs, but I'm
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: obsessed with it. We're gonna do this really weird project.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: And I cast it from the class and we presented it, uh,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: just for some like as a class assignment. People came
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: in to watch and it was a number killed the
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: most though, oh gosh, probably guy Love that's I mean,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: I love class. Did you have to censor You're the
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: only man who's ever been inside of me? No? We lucky.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I'm very very lucky that I work at an art
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: school where we could push the boundaries pretty well. I
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: don't have anybody really watching over my shoulder to to
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: censor me on stuff we've done some like g shows
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: and stuff. I imagine this. I imagine the teenager probably
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: didn't hold up his fist, though I would. I would
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: have thought that the number that killed would have been
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: the Pooh song. But that's just me like that was
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: a hard one to make it as funny, I think,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: because you know we're on a stage. We didn't. It
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: was very hard to stage a TV show on a
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: on a theatrical stage, so it was a lot of
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: the humor I think was lost in that. But you know,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: seeing two guys up there singing ky, well, that's so great.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: You know there is there is a Scrubs musical in development,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: a real one. Oh I didn't. I don't even know
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: if I'm supposed to say that, but I'll ask. I'm
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: sure I can say that. Randall Winston, who we've had
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: on the show when was one of our main producers,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: our line producer. I think he was taking the lead
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: on developing a Broadway musical, taking some of the songs
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: from the from the Scrubs Musical episode. And then of
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: course that's not enough to build a two and a
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: half hour show around. So then you know, and of
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: course you know, figuring out what the story of it
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: would be. But I know that it was in the
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: works for those of you who interested in that. Oh
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: my gosh, that's wild. You could take so many of
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: the stories and then turn them into the Scrubs musical.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: Like the story of the story where we sang I'm
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: waiting for my real life to begin. We could add
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: that in there. We could you could add you could
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: add so many moments where we where we sang into
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: the musical. Also, I think I think it would be cool.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: Is JD going into fantasy in a musical world set.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: It could be so fun because you got so much
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: cool stuff with set design numbers, everything like that. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: I like that. Yeah, um, well that's cool. And I'm
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: so glad that you seem like a really fun teacher. Adam.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: I went to a high school where a public high
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: school in New Jersey um Columbia High School in Maplewood,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: New Jersey, and it wasn't cool to be in place.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: And I did have a great drama teacher who I
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: liked a lot, but I, you know, I was a
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: self conscious team and I was doing all of this,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: all of my theater stuff outside of school. I was
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: going with theater camp, I was doing, you know, participating
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: in sort of community theater stuff. But I was too
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: self conscious. I regret to be in the school plays.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: And so I know, you're at an art school, so
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: it's it's a different world. But I just loved I
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: love it when I hear about great teachers like you
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: who are inspiring kids to perform. Well, I'm really lucky because,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: you know, like I said, we get to do some
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: really cool stuff there. I really try to think outside
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: the box and do do weird stuff that no other
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: school would do, so that we don't have that problem
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: of like students only wanting to go out and do
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: community theater stuff that they want to do our shows
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: every year. So we've, like I said, we've been able
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: to do some really cool edgy things over the years
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: without really anybody intervening. And you know, one of the
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: things we pride ourselves on as a school is that,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: you know, the whole student body are kind of the outcasts.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: You know, they're kind of you know, the coolest kid
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: at our school is you know, might be the star
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: of the musical instead of the star of the football team.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: That's why. That's why I flourished in theater camp. That's
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: why I was like, oh, because I was like, I
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: was good at being in plays, so I was like
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: the cool kid. I was like, finally, I want to
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: go back in time and come to your high school. Adam. Oh,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: I get that a lot, Sarah, Do you do plays?
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I mean, I know you were a kid actor, you
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: were working, But did you participate in any school plays?
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: I did? We actually, um did get to do really
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: pretty cool musicals at our high school. And I was
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: an Annie and they didn't. They didn't seem to mind
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: that I was tone deaf unlike some other Yeah. But
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: you got rhythm. Though. You can dance. We've seen you dance.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: All You're dancing turns very sexual quickly. Can you dance
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: in a non provocative manner? I can't do the robot
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: that's a very non productive provocative That's true. That is true.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Sarah always starts off. It's always like and root the
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: roo booty. I've known Sarah for twenty years, and when
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: she starts dancing, it's about five seconds before there's like
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: acid like backing up and oops, I dropped something that
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: just comes from my like grade twelve parent teacher. I mean,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I'm grad parent of a night where we all did
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: babies go Back. It just sort of like it just
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: comes just kind of feel like if Sarah had TikTok,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Like if we were all teenagers with TikTok, she'd be
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: one of those people doing like the provocative TikTok. She
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: would be doing the savage She'd be like, I'm a
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: savage snackyo, Okay, okay. One of my favorite I was
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: born at the wrong time, guys. One of my favorite
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: things from the from the series is the clip show
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: where they do the entire runner of all you guys
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: dancing in different episode. I mean, everybody on that show.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: I don't remember that having we did have a clip show.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: I've never seen the clip show, but I know we
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: had one. I only know because the thing that's great
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: about a clip show is I think you still get
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: paid for an episode, but we don't work, you guys
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: dot They did a runner of dances. They did a
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: runner of like I think they did a runner of, um,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: you crashing into things, and they did I think they
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: did a runner of Doctor Cox's insults too. I'm not sure,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: but they was, Yeah, it's funny. Well, Sarah and Donald
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: did most of the dancing, because the two of them
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: are very very good dancers. I'm good at running into
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: stuff and falling on our stuff. I wish I could sing.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: I loved it. And I was in musicals as a kid.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: My sister and I went to UM, a musical theater
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: kind of school outside of school, and UM we auditioned
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: for it and they called and they said to my sister,
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: we love you and we want you to be the lead.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: And they said, she said, what about Sarah And they
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: were like, yeah, no, we don't want her. And so
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: she said, okay that I'm not I'm not going to
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: do it, and she hung up and they called back
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: five minutes later and they were like, okay, we really
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: want you, so we're going to take your little sister
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: as well. So Natasha was the lead and she was
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: wearing this like turquoise shiny thing with this long blonde hair,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: and I was one of three tigers at the back
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: that was wearing um all black, and I had a
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: tiger mask and we were just like in the background,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: kind of side to side with our clause didn't have
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: any lines, and I was in heaven. I was like,
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: I'm on it. I wanted so badly that could get
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: to New York to see Bullets over Broadway when it
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: was because I'm a huge Woody Allen fan, I'm a
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: huge Scrubs fan. I just was. And of course my
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: celebrity crush is Betsy Wolf. Wow, that's a good celebrity
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: crush to have. I know, I saw her in Last
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: five Years and I me too a second stage right,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: maybe we were there the same night. Oh my god.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: You can listen to that album if you like musicals.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: It's a wonderful show called Last five Years and there's
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: a recording of Betsy Wolf and it um, I'm Bullets
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: over Broadway was one of the most you know, I
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: was a theater geek kid, as as we're discussing, I
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: went to theater camp and I did plays out of
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: college and off Broadway. But being in a full blow
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: own like big budget musical with a twenty five piece orchestra.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: I literally my entrance was literally rising through the stage
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: playing a ukulele. It was such a surreal it was
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: like a total kid dream, fruition, bucket list thing happened,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: and I want to do it again one day. It
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: was just it was just too much fun. Did you
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: ever mess up coming up on the stage when you
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: were coming up playing nicket song? Did you ever come ain't? Well,
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: it's a couple of things. First of all, if for
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: most of you who didn't see the show, the show
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: is happening and it begins with another number and then
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: I enter rising. So I would go down underneath the
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: stage before the show because I was nervous as hell,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: and every show, no matter how many we did, and
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: I'd say hello to the conductor and sort of waved
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: to the orchestra because they were down there, and then
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: I'd go over to where my lift was and I
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: sort of talked to the crew guys and shoot the
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: ship and then a light goes on, which means the
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: lift is about to go. And I would always get
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: so nervous because you don't it's such a crazy way
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: to enter the stage. Most of the times in a normal,
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: normal budget world, you're just entering from the wings of
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: the stage. But here we are at a big budget
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: musical show and the light goes off and I'm riding
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: and I start rising and then you just see like
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: twenty five hundred people watching you. And so, of course
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: there were times when I would totally fuck up the
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: ukulele because I'm not a musician, but I learned to
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: play this one song on the ukulele. What I later
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: learned was there was a guy in the orchestra pit
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: who was also playing the ukulele and defending how not
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: how much I was sucking. They would kind of bring
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: up his mixer or enronment, Like if I was really
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: fucking off that day, they would just bring up the
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: orchestra pit ukulele's Donald. Did you ever do theater high school?
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: I did high school theater. Well, not high school. I
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: went to the professional childrens school, So everybody that I
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: went to school with was like already on Broadway and
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: doing shit like that, So we didn't really have a
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: theater wow at the school. But yeah, you know, when
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: I graduated, I did shows with a theater for a
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: new audience. I did shows off off off Broadway, Off Broadway,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: I did show. There was a I grew up in
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Hell's Kitchen, New York, and on forty second between ninth
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: and tenth Avenue, there was this whole theater comp like
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: this theater thing called Theater Row, and it was a
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: bunch of different Yeah that was there too, but it
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: was a bunch of different, uh, play playhouses and stuff
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: like that. It's no longer there now there's like a
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: building and stuff like that with tenants and stuff. But
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: I remember when I was a kid, I'd be like,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: one day, I'm gonna do a show there. I wound
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: up doing two shows there, you know what I mean.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: Like it was It's one of those things where if
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: you grew up in New York City like I did,
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: and you weren't doing plays, then you weren't really trying
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: to be an actor because that was all that was there,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: you know what I mean, That was all you know.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: It was either that or it was the one you
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: might get lucky and get on a New York undercover.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: But for that, they were like two thousand people auditioning
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: for one line, you know what I mean. So, yeah,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: did I do plays? I did quite a few plays.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: I came up in a theater. My parents were a
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: part of the National Black Theater in Harlem, and so
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: instead of a babysitter, I used to have to sit
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: in the audience with, you know, while my parents performed
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: on stage. And I remember one of the actors started
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: complaining because, you know, put me in an audience with
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: a bunch of people. I'm part of the show. Now,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck what you said, you know
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: what I mean. It started off, It started the first night,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: I was fine, But once it got to the point
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: where I was there every night, I was like, oh,
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: I'm in this ship too, baby. I can't imagine you
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: like sitting there quietly. That's not the time. It was impossible.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Like I would get involved, Like I would get up
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: out of my chair and help the actors, and you know,
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: like at one point they would sit me down next
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: to one of the actors in the show and I'd
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: be having a conversation with the actor while the show
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: was going on. And one time he missed his queue
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: because he was fucking with me, and he got in
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: trouble for that. Like at that point I knew right
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: then and there, and I was very young, I was
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: like five, four or five. I knew right then and
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: now I was like, I'm going to be an actor, dude,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: this is this is If it wasn't four plays, I
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: wouldn't be an actor, you know what I mean. I
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: knew right then and there this is the life I
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: want to live. I want to be able to do
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: this because one I have a lot of fun and
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: two this doesn't seem as hard as everybody says it is.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: And you know, well, I mean, in fairness to yourself,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: it seemed that way to you because you had your
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: parents were doing it. You had a natural instinct for it.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: You know. It's well, that, of course is nature nurture you.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: You then nurtured that ability, but you obviously had it
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: in you as a child. Right well. You know, some
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: people are I honestly believe that some people are born.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Everybody's born to do what they do. Some people find
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: what they do later on, some people find what they
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: do early on. But you're born to do what you do,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean, whether it is to be
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: an actor, whether it is to be a politician, whether
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: it is to be whatever. You're given a certain set
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: of skills. It just sound like Liam Neeson. I have
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: a certain set of skills. Some some people are assassins, right,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: but no. But I feel like you're given a certain
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: set of skills and it's up to you to take
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: it as far as you want to go with it,
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Uh, Sometimes the gift that
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: you have isn't the gift that you want, you know
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: what I mean, And you have to come to grips
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: with that. And that's usually what happens. But for the
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: most people, some people aren't blessed enough to know what
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: their passion and thing is for a long time. I
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: mean you were, You were so blessed because it happened
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: to be the thing that your parents were exposing you too.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: I was the same way. My father, you know, was
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: doing community theater as his hobby, and I kind of
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: like was like, this is a job you can have,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: Like this is something you can do. But I mean,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: there's so many people and I feel for them. I
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: mean I talk to college kids or getting out of
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: college and they still haven't found like their thing, and
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: they haven't they haven't opped into something that excites them.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: And so I always feel really really blessed and lucky
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: that I was at a young age, exposed to something
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: that so lit me up. Adam, do you have a
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: question for us? I do. I have got a million
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: of them, but I'll start with We'll pick one because
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: we're running very long today, because you know, the Canadian
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: is a little you know, I'm so excited to So
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: my question is this, uh, I my all time favorite
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: episode of Scrubs and probably my all time favorite episode
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: of any television. So it is the series eight finale,
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: which is just a perfect, perfect episode of television for
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: US fans. For the way that it repted up Adam,
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: I wrote it. I wrote it, Adam, thank you. I
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: don't think that's frue. It was interrupting, bim, it was
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: interrupting film. But my question is, you know what what
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: other shows I wanted to hear from all all of you?
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: What what other shows in your you know, in fandom
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: that you that you've enjoyed. Do you feel like the finale? Absolutely,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: I'll go first. I'll go first. I call first season
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: for attack. In the history of television, and as Donald
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: seemed to be dissing me for early in the broadcast,
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: I have watched a lot of television and in the
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: history of television. There is no contender for best series
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: finale ever. Don't at me, don't Joel, don't frown. Six
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: feet under? Yeah, there Applauseau'll turn your key, I will,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: I will. I will turn my key only because I've
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: only seen the last episode of six feet Under. No,
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: are you serious? Are you serious? I'm dead serious? That
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: was a pretty is the only one. But then you've learned, Sarah,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: the same thing with Breaking Back. We learned that he
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: only watches finales. Somebody else goes six feet Under if
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: you haven't watched it as an incredible show and the
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: finale is just a masterpiece. Sarah, you want to go,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: I want to go. I agree with that. I thought
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: six ft underd was bonkers. I feel like The Office,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: both British and American versions had incredible finales. Er was
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: a million years ago, but I remember thinking that one
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: was awesome and and I agree with you, Adam. The
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: Scrubs final was one of my favorite Scrubs episodes that
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: we got to do. It was so cool for us
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: to get to make that episode because Bill had this
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: really cool idea of having every person who would ever
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: guest star on the show come back, So like that day.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: Everybody was so emotional anyways, because it was the last
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: episode and then to have every guest star and then
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: Zach walks down that whole way and we got to
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: go down while we're filming that scene, and like just
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: see everybody lined up from the past eight years, and
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: you know, there's a couple people that couldn't make it,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: but for the most part, I mean, all those people
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: made an effort to get there, and people flew in
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: from New York and from wherever they were living or
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: shooting at the time, and it was so special. It's
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: very emotional. And I don't know if you know the trivia, Adam,
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: but it's but it's Bill Lawrence playing Lejanitor who pulls
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: down the sheet. Hum, well you go, okay, Joel, go ahead,
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: favorite Sarah. Sarah changed it, morphed it and started making
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: it five or six. So Joel the game is when
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: he says, best finale, what's the thing that pops to
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: your brain? Because that's what happened to me with six
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: feet under Boardwalk Empire Watch. I think it's five seasons
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: of it. It's so concise. In the final scene, it's
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: like heart like the whole thing. The whole shows about
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: being in the twenties, and right at the very final scene,
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: there's the introduction of like Nickelodeon, which is an early
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: movie thing that you could like, hey, nicol and watch
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: a movie and it's like very small or whatever, and
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: it like totally changes the game for this old who
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: thought he would never see anything new. And then there's
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: I will tell you what it is, but no spoilers please.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: It's so freaking good. MARYN. Scorsesey produced it. It's like
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: mid two thousands from Martin Scorsesey directed the pilot as well.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Yes he did. He should definitely such a good series.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: But the finale is really good. I will give no
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: spoilers for six Feet under Fine, other than to say
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: that you got to listen to the sea a song
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: Breathe Me because it's a holy shit. Is that a
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: great song? Okay? Dan'l go um the one that instantly
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: pop into my head as the sopranos. Oh yes, okay. Now,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: there was a lot of talk about people having interpretations.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: Do you have your interpretation? I mean, I think that's
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: kind of the goal. That was the goal. I think
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: it was David Chase, right, David Chase is the Yeah,
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: so David Chase, that's what he wanted to have happened,
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: kind of live with the ending of Lala Land, with
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: the twisttop at inception. You want to defy the convention
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: of putting a very concise, nice bow on it and
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: allow people to heap the story just in their heads
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: for so long. And I'm certainly of the people who think, again,
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: no spoilers, but I think the ending is relatively clear.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: I think we all know what happened, but I like
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: that that is left to left to the imagination. And
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: I will also never forget watching the finale with my
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: father being downstairs. We were both just like gripping the couch,
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: counting down the minutes, being like, this show is going
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: to be over shortly, this show is going to be
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: over shortly, like what's going to happen? And then in
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: those that final minute of whatever, the show is trying
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: not to spoiler both of us just like I think
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: you can spoil the I mean, yeah, I guess the
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: ending doesn't happen, but it just cut. It just cuts,
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: hard cut, don't stop, hard cut for thirty seconds of
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: just black screen, and both of me my dad are
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: just like, do the cable go out. I love a
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: hard cut to black. Don't fade out your show, love it? Yeah,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: produce the whole thing. Uh No, I mean I'm just
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: a sucker, whether it's whether it's theater or or or
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: or film and TV. I don't like a fade like
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: blackout or hard guts of black like and that shit.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: Feel you. Um. Now, I'm gonna be cynical and say
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: the reason I think he's alive is, uh, there's no
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: way that they didn't have plans to make films. Eventually, Unfortunately,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: James Gandelfini died in real life. But I don't think
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: there's any scenario where they didn't daydream about making films.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: So I'm just I'm just gonna throw that out there.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: I totally can't tell you something. I totally accept that
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: as a like, but you know how it really goes
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: kind of studio thing like with um, when people were
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: talking about Avengers and how like are they really dead?
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: Like are they really gone? People like, no, they're not gone.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: They have more movie deals like obviously Spider Man's not
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: gone blah blah blah. I mean, you know obviously that
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: changes now too because of you know, you know, r
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: I P. Chadwick, But like, I think it's very reason
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: to look at that and say, you think they were
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: really going to end the show there. You think they
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: were really gonna end it there, whether or not the
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: movie deals coming afterwards would have been prequels or whatever.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: Blah blah blah. I think that's totally fair. But I
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: still love that finale for this exact reason that we're
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: talking about it. All right, Donald, you're up. I'm embarrassed
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: by my shows because you guys, don't you guys, I
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: don't watch the same type of television shows you watch.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: But my favorite, my favorite finale so far. Wow, in
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: television shows, that's tough. That's tough for me. I'm sorry.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: You can could be sports like the last game of
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: the Knicks. I'll tell you what, in terms of television moments,
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: those are some of the greatest of all time. Any yeah,
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: any any any last second show seven buzzer beaters are
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: just like you can't be particular game seven buzzer beater
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: you like, Donald, No, no, no, no, no. I I
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: you know, I'm one of those cats who is really
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: heavily into a certain genre, and so I'm sure my
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: favorite episode finale has got to be like The Rebels.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: The Rebels finale was pretty dope actually, and yeah, Joel agrees,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: she gotta woo and uh, now that Clone Wars has
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: come to a finale, I like that finale. That was
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: pretty good too. Uh. But yeah, you don't have to
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: be embarrassed that it's animation. You seem like you're like, well,
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: you guys are all sitting here, like you guys are
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: sitting here like six feet under and the Sopranos and
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: oh god, Boardwalk Empire. Oh, and let me tell you
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: something that's Scrubs finale. And then I come up and
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: I'm like, the rated for teenest shows. Well, you don't
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: want you You've said you don't want so much narrative TV.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: So there you go. There's I don't, I don't. All right,
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: it's time for America and Canada's favorite segment. Sarah. You
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: haven't participated in this yet, so we're really gonna need
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: you to represent You're gonna need to represent your nation.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: It's time to fish your life, all right, Adam. We've
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: helped a lot of people here, um, and by a
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: lot we mean no one but anywhere we have helped people, um, no, no,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: but I but I have heard you know what I
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: have heard. I've heard people say on my social media, Um, hey,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: that advice you gave so and so actually really helped
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: me with something like the whiteboard stuff or our stuff
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: about trying to lose weight, or even even helping um
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: last week's last episode's guy with issue with his kids.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: So I don't I don't know, maybe not, but this
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: goes to so many people across the world. I like
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: to think that something we say might register with a
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: few people and they go, oh, maybe I will try that.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: So Adam, Adam, you're up. Okay, So the you know,
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: the last six months have been crazy for everybody, and uh,
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: you know, I had two really fantastic jobs in the arts.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: Are so lucky to do exactly what I want to do. Uh,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: And you know, uh, I've got a great wife and
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: three little boys and just everything is you know great,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: and then the pandemic hits and the theater that I
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: work at shut down, and my classroom is gone, and
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: I'm doing it online and all of my little boys
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: are doing their schooling online and um, it's just you know,
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: I'm I'm in perfectly good headspace, you know, I know
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: there's people suffering a lot more than me who are
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: not getting paid or who are not you know, uh,
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: they have you know, they have severe mental health issues
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: because of this. But what But it is very tough
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: and I've never in my life kind of experienced these
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: moments of like, oh my gosh, I can't you know,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: keep it together? What is what is anybody's advice for
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: just staying? Saying? Uh, with the country being where it
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: is right now, and uh, no end in sight? As
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: I have three of nine, the my oldest just for nine,
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: and I have a five year old and a three
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: year old. Wow, you guys have your hands full. I
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: mean to be at home all day. Everybody's home yep. Sarah,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: do you have any advice for? Um? What do you?
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: What do you do? Well? I think the best name
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: of advice is to say what works for you. So, Sarah,
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: you've been in a very similar situation she for a while.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I don't know if you're still doing it. She was
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: cohabitating with her sister and their kids. So how do
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: you stay, seeing Sarah with all the mayhem of COVID
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: and having to help your kids with homeschooling and all that. Well,
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know if you would say
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: I'm staying saying. I mean, I just cut my own
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: hair my scissors that arrived in the mail, So that's debatable.
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: But um, I think I think the best advice I
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: was given, and it's really hard to take the advice
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: is just take it day by day, because I that
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: you can do that's totally doable. It's when you go,
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: like I find myself bargain hills. I'm going, oh, yeah,
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: I can fully do this for six months. Okay, okay, fine, fine,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: I can do it for a year, but just not
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: too Okay, two years, but that's fucking it, not a
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: day more. And so I think, like, if there's a
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: way to try and find ways to stay in the
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: moment in the day, only what's in front of you
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: that has helped. I think, like, especially with kids. I
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: mean we I have a ten year old and a
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: four year old and I am officially homeschooling them, which
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: is brand spank and new. I've never done that before,
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: and we made the decision to do that. The schools
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: haven't have opened up here now, but we're keeping them
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: home so that everyone can stay safe and healthy, and
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: so One thing that we found that's really cool that
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: someone recommended to me is something called outschool dot com
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: and you can go on there and do like anything
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: your kids are interested in, Like if you just need
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: a break, it's like sign language class or like sketching
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: DC or a debate class where you debate like Marvel
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: versus DC characters. And so we're doing that. Another thing
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: we're doing is trying to like farm out a few things,
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: so like, you know, have my uncle Portland and do
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: a class on something. Um, I can come and teach
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: a class on something, Sarah. Yeah, I'm you're just you're
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: gonna be doing that. Yeah, I'm taking hit me. I'm
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: hitting up on that now. And Danel and Joel and
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: Donald I'm gonna need a class. Also, I'm gonna I'm gonna,
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna respect I'm gonna respectfully decline and
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: say I don't kids. I know you do, but Donald,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: you need to teach us to stop motion animation yourself. Amazing.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: I appreciate that. I appreciate that, but I'm gonna respectfully decline.
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: I don't want to teach nobody else's kids but my own.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: Right now, I shouldn't I shouldn't we have to teach
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: my own kids right now, to be honest with you,
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: but I'm helping with them. Well, I'm just you know
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: what I want to Donald? How are you want? Why
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: don't you? Why don't you go and say? First of all,
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: first of all, I want to give a shout out
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: to all the teachers out there to be and all
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: with all respect and all kidding aside, let's give a
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: shout out to all the teachers out there who are
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: actually teaching their kids online and teaching their kids. The
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: teachers that are actually going into schools and teaching there
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: and teaching students there too, Let's give a shout out
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: to them, because you're absolutely right. You are on the
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: front lines and you are doing work that is very important.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: You are teaching tomorrow's leaders, and you're doing it with
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: a fucking really bad handicap, you know what I mean.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: And so shout out to all of you out there
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: who are doing it. What are we doing to stay safe?
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: And I mean to stay sane, To stay sane one
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: stay safe too. That's really difficult, you know. Living we
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: live in the valley and in the Sherman Oaks area,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: and you know, Los Angeles was hit really hard with COVID,
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: and you know, for a really long time, I kept
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: the kids inside and all we did was watch television
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: and stuff like that, and that really wasn't that wasn't
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: an ideal thing for us to do. But recently we've
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: found ways to go to parks. We've potted with a
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: couple of families, so the kids have friends to go
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: play with and stuff. And the way for us to
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: stay safe is try to be as normal as possible
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: in these abnormal times, uh, without crossing the line and
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: being uh and and and and not being safe. So
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: that's how we For example, I see you know on
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: your Instagram, you got your kids into golf, um, which
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: is something you like and they like. So that's like
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: a thing you can do outside of the house together
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: as a group, that's fun for everybody. That's something you
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: do right right. Well, yeah, I mean there are very
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: few sports that you can do where there's no contact
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: or your or the or or you can socially distance.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: And so as a family, yeah, we got into golf.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: We go over to Zach's house when he's not home,
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: and we swim, you know what I mean. But it's tough, Adam.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with you, man. This is a
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: This is one of those things where it's like where
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: you can find your happiness and where you can find
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: your joy. You grab onto it and you freaking hold
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: it tight and you and you and you live in
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: that space until this is over, because it's not like
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: that we can go outside and just do whatever the
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: heck we want right now. That's not something we can do.
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: I like that you didn't curse because he's a teacher.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: That was really cute. My respect did coming. Yeah, he
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: was like, first of all, when do you ever not curse?
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: But because he's like a high school teacher, like, heck, heck. Um.
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna Adam, I'm gonna say something that might be
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: tricky for tricky few because you have kids and um,
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: and that is that meditation has really helped me. There's
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: a lot of different apps that are out there. I'm
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: just gonna shout out headspace because that's the one that's
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: worked for me. And if you're listening and you go,
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: I'm not gonna fucking meditate, What the hell is he
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: talking about? UM? I guarantee you that if you all
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: you need to do is find twenty minutes. They actually
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: even have shorter ones if you can only find ten
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: or fifteen. But I think twenty minutes is what I've noticed.
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: I get the most out of it. So I know, Adam,
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: I respect I don't have kids. I know it's tricky.
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: But if you can have your wife kick over for
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: twenty minutes and you go hide, even in your carver,
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: you can get your bedroom wherever you can be and
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: just sit and listen to this app. And they have
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: different programs. It can be for anxiety, it can be
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: for insomnia, it can be for relationships. They have like
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: the theme theme packs, and I have found when I
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: do that every day twenty minutes in the morning, it
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: really does keep my anxiety and my stress levels lower.
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: It's it's noticeable. And if you do try this, don't
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: go try it once and go, oh, my brain was
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: wandering all over the place. Fuck that thing. No, Like anything,
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: it takes practice. It's like you're not gonna go and
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: try and play golf with day one and suck, and
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: it takes practice to but little by little your mind
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: does quiet and then ultimately you're kind of sitting there
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: and of course it wanders a little bit, but you
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: bring it back and you focus on your breath, and
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: it's it's it's made a noticeable difference in my life.
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: So there you go. You're welcome, Adam. You're welcome, Adam.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: You're welcome. Thunderous applause for us, Dan, thunder applause fix Adam,
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Thank you for being an educator,
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: thank you for thank you for being there for young
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: people and for inspiring them. And I'm sure the kids
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: don't tell you enough, even though you might have nice kids.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: But I hope the kids, I hope that you get
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: that you're making a difference in their lives. Well, if
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: I could say one more thing, I hope you guys
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: understand how important in your podcast is. I mean, I
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: this came about almost right as COVID started, as you know,
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: and I've started taking walks in the morning before the
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: kids are up, just to you know, get a little
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: bit of exercise and just to get out of the house.
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: And so I've been taking walks and I listened to
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: the podcast, and I never really understood the expression that
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: something brings a smile to your face. I always thought
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: it was kind of a metaphor. But when your podcast
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: comes on and that theme song kicks in and like
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: a smile comes to my face. I don't even realize
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: that I wasn't smiling until it happens. It's it's like
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: pavlov It it comes up and Bam, I'm smiling on
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: my walk. Everything go times so happy right now, and
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: that makes us so happy. And you know, e E News,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: the very fancy entertainment station, agrees with you. I don't
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: know if you said that you heard that we were
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: a very very popular podcast. No, but thank you. I
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: have to confess to you that you know, Donald and
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: I and Joelle and Daniell we listen to the episode
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: back and make edits, and so I sometimes listen to
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: it while I'm walking my dog, and I've seen people,
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: um right on our social media is like, oh my god,
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: I'm laughing out loud so hard. People are looking at me.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: And there's times where I'm listening to the to our
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: early version of the draft before we edit it. I'm
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: and I'm walking my dog and I'm sitting there fucking
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: laughing out loud at us. And I know that's shameless
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: because I'm laughing at us, but anyway, it makes me
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: so happy to hear that it's making a difference in
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: people's lives. So thank you, Adam, and we're going to
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: let you go now, but thank you so much for
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: coming on the show. Thank you, Hi guys, thank you,
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: thanks so much being well. Oh, Joel, that was such
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: a wonderful guest in a different way because no, he
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: wasn't banging on a tarlet at a funeral. Good, but
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: he was a wonderful teacher who inspires the youth of
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: the youth, inspires the youth. Your musical, Yeah, that's really
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: that's really cool. And the fact that he like wrote
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: the music to it and figured it all out on
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: the piano because that didn't exist, that's so cool. Let's
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: talk about first of all, Laddie the X ray tech
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: to the Caribbean. He's compared to the Caribbean. He's the
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: one that hangs out with the dude whose eye keeps
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: popping out. He's true. Yeah, it's true. When Sean Whalen, Joel,
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: will you double check out? Do you know where I
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: know Sean Whalen from? This is a really good piece
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: of trivia. Do you remember one of the best ads
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: of the of the last however, many years when the
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: guys had too much peanut butter. And he's like they
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: call him from the radio show and he's got his
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: his his room is surrounded with trivia and memorabilia about
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: Aaron Burr and they and and the radio show is
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: calling him and they go they go, um for for
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: one thousand dollars? Who is the man who shot Alexander Hamilton?
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: And he's like his moment to shine because it's like
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: his whole life is dedicated to Aaron Burr. And he
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: and he calls and just eating Peterburg and they're like,
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: we're sorry, sir, we're gonna have to let you go anyway.
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: Hilarious ad. You can watch it on YouTube. That was
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: Sean Whalen. Was he also in Pirates? Um, Joel, Yeah,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that's him, but it's sorry Sean Whalen
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: spelled different w h A L E N like a whale, Okay, Laddie.
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: And then of course the my machines guy, My machines,
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: My machines, machines. We loved it. He's very funny and
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: um and that was a funny bit. And then um, Sarah,
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: I love the montage of you getting you know, tearing
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: your your your kitten post off the wall and then
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: then putting your back up and putting back up up,
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: like I'll destroy my room, but that's like one step
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: too far. But no, not only the cat poster back up,
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: but you're destroyed it. You like ripped it up and
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: then you tape it with like black duct tape and
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: ship like put it back up. I love that. That's
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: like Elliot's room. Yeah, I know your room was so
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: bubble gummy girl, I know it just hugging a Teddy Bear.
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: Where did you get the money from the half all
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: of that when your parents cut you off and stuff? Remember,
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: like all of a sudden, I feel like that's from
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: when they had me back still on I was still
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: on the That's like it's like frozen in time. It's
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: like Elliot's things from when she was twelve, right, all
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: of the all of the Yeah, yeah, I guess you
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: took all of her chatch keys from her, from her
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: youth she got cut off. Well that was that was
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: really fun. And it's cut to Tom petty American girl
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: and raised on promises. Yeah, nobody would finally get her
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: hot sexy scrubs chick entrance down the hallway, the classic
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: from the feed up smoky smoke SloMo um, and then um,
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: how about alone? I thought. Another funny thing that made
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: me laugh was when um, when everyone's you know, everyone's
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: kind of just doing their own thing because they can
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: tell when Kelsel is coming because it was nose squeak,
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: and and now now Cox has fixed the nose squeak,
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: but they don't know, and they cut everyone just being lazy,
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: and the janitor is giving a lomo. I didn't know
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: until this moment that the janitor and and uh and
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: there's Roberts were close enough giving her the choppy chop chop.
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Or when Alma says to me, I'm going for advice,
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: and she goes, it's also because you're very white. Why
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: do you call me marshmallows it because I'm soft and
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: sensitive or something. She goes, sure, it's also because you're
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: very white. Um. And then Shan comes in at the end.
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: Oh heartbreaking, and you're like, damn, damn, I didn't I
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: didn't see, like I didn't see. I'm at the point
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: now where I don't see j D and Elliott getting
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: together though on the show, even though I know what
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: happens at the end, it feels like at this point
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: in the show that the two of them getting together
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: isn't isn't a possibility? They don't, they don't. They're not
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: on the same page anymore. So at the end when
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: Sean when he says to her, you look beautiful, and
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: then Sean steps out, I didn't see that coming. I
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: didn't see JD reacting to her the way he reacted,
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: and I knew Sean would come back, but I didn't
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: see that happening. Well. I mean, it's interesting because not
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: only is is Jad attracted to Elliott a new obviously
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: because she's done, she looks great and she's done this makeover,
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: but it's also because he's he's turned on by seeing
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: her be a badass so finally fucking being tough and
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: standing up for herself. And he's like, holy shit, this
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: is this is this is a new woman. Who's this woman?
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: I'm intrigued And all of a sudden, fucking Scott Foley
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: nobody cares sweater? Yeah when did nobody cares? Shan come in?
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: It's in his first episode that he nobody cares when
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: we're at this, Yeah, is that when we're at the
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: uh where where where are we? When you say that, no,
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: it's his very first episode. He's in Nobody. I forgot
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: when by we just to clarify something, Um, the My
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: Machines guy is Lee Aharnberg. That's the guy who's in Pirates. Um,
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: I was talking about Sean Whalen and that's the Aaron
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: Burr commercial guy who plays Laddie, who's a different X
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: ray tech. He's the one I lie on top of
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: naked because he wants to get an X ray that
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: looks like he's X ray to sign he's twin. That
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: guy is hilarious. He's in so many commercials. Yeah, yeah, yeah, everything. Yeah,
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: absolutely a lot of commercials. Okay, but Lee Ahronberg is
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: the one you're thinking of who's in Pirates. Another funny
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: moment is Johnny C when he's like with the prison
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: inmates and he's asking him to keep the photo of
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: his son soppy. But I never said, why is Johnny
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: showing people pictures of his son? And would he not
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: only did he bring the picture, he has it out
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: like he's he's showing every prisoner he's getting a physical too.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: Is his kid? I do have to say, I got
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: um goosebumps when when we finally figure out that it's
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: familial Mediterranean fever. Yeah, I'm such a sucker for those
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: moments where where we as young doctors go Eureka, we
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: got it, like we figured it out. Like I mean,
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: it's funny, I'm watching us, but I gave myself goose bumps.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: I love the fact that doctor Cox takes the credit
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: for it at the end too. Yeah, yeah, it was
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: phasing says it was all you guys. Yeah, right after
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: he says that shit. But um, yeah, I didn't understand.
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: That's the one thing I didn't understand the whole episode.
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: He's telling you not to rely on him, but he's
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: relying on us. The whole episode. He's saying to us,
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: don't rely on me. I'm not going to be here
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: for you all the time. Don't rely on me. But
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: he's relying on us to come up with this diagnosis
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: so that he can go into the room at the
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: end and take all of the credit for it. Well.
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: I think maybe that's sort of what Bill's doing in
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: the writing in season three, is like it's going to
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: start being a tip for tat ying Yang if you
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: will situation where there's gonna be times where we're helping
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: him look good and he's going, of course, going to
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: be saving our asses still and we're getting we're getting
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: a little more experience where we can become a little
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: more closer to being his peer. Or he doesn't have
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: the time. I mean, he's got so much on his plate,
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: and he kind of, you know, he's still keep in mind,
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: he's still even though he's aggressive and confrontational, he's still
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: our teacher. So he's like, you guys got to do
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: the work. You guys got to stay late and figure
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: it out. And then of course he he you know,
