- 0:01Hello. Welcome to the No God Coach
- 0:02Huddle for May 9th, 2025. Your
- 0:05two-minute play of the day for applying
- 0:07God's word in your life. So, let's
- 0:09huddle up and hear today's play from
- 0:11Mark 10, which says, "Why do you call me
- 0:14good?" Jesus answered, "No one is good
- 0:16except God alone." "Teacher, here you
- 0:18declared, "All these things I have kept
- 0:19since I was a boy." Jesus looked at him
- 0:22and loved him. One thing you lack, he
- 0:24said, "Go sell everything you have and
- 0:26give to the poor and you'll have
- 0:27treasure in heaven. then come follow me.
- 0:30At this the man's face fell. He went
- 0:32away sad because he had great wealth.
- 0:35They replied, "Let one of us sit at your
- 0:37right and one at your left in your
- 0:39glory." "You don't know what you're
- 0:40asking," Jesus said. "Can you drink the
- 0:43cup I drink or be baptized with the
- 0:45baptism I am baptized with?" "We can,"
- 0:47they answered. Jesus said to them, "You
- 0:50will drink the cup I drink and be baptis
- 0:53baptized with the baptism I am baptized
- 0:55with. Not so with you. Instead, whoever
- 0:58wants to become great among you must be
- 1:00your servant. And whoever wants to be
- 1:02first must be slave of all. For even the
- 1:04Son of Man did not come to be served,
- 1:06but to serve and to give his life as a
- 1:08ransom for
- 1:10many. A morally good man came to Jesus
- 1:13for salvation, but was left spiritually
- 1:15bankrupt. He obeyed God's laws, but he
- 1:18lacked God's spirit. He appeared to have
- 1:20God's blessings, but he didn't have
- 1:22God's presence. He was called to commit
- 1:24everything to Jesus, but he is only
- 1:26willing to commit some things to Jesus.
- 1:28And so he left Jesus unsaved, placing
- 1:31his eternal soul in jeopardy of the
- 1:34fires of hell. Seeing this, excuse me,
- 1:37the apostles, sometimes the apostles
- 1:39sought prominence because they had
- 1:41committed everything to
- 1:43Jesus. Yet there was still more to give.
- 1:46The baptism and the cup Jesus drank were
- 1:49the same. They were the way of suffering
- 1:51unto death in obedience to God. The
- 1:54apostles would later know this suffering
- 1:56unto death for obeying God's command to
- 1:58make disciples. They would indeed give
- 2:01everything and no doubt their reward is
- 2:03great. But perhaps they are not even the
- 2:05greatest to have served God. God wants
- 2:08more than our goodness. He wants our
- 2:10unconditional commitment to him and his
- 2:12work of reconciling the world to himself
- 2:15through Jesus the Savior. Most of us are
- 2:18unwilling to be good. But most of us are
- 2:20willing to be good, but we want to be
- 2:23blessed in this world. We want to be
- 2:25rich. Uh the rich man who is saved.
- 2:28Jesus calls us to unconditional
- 2:30surrender of all we have and all we want
- 2:33in order to do all he has for us to
- 2:36accomplish. Then he will reward us on
- 2:39his terms and his kingdom which is to
- 2:41come and is not yet here. Do we want
- 2:44God's eternal reward later than we want
- 2:47man's reward now? Are we willing to
- 2:50drink Jesus's cup and be baptized with
- 2:52his baptism of suffering in order to be
- 2:55raised from the dead as good and
- 2:56faithful children of God whom the father
- 2:59rejoices to reward. The Christian life
- 3:01on this earth has nothing to do with the
- 3:03world's material gain, but is to be a
- 3:05road of suffering for Jesus's name while
- 3:08making disciples of all peoples and all
- 3:10nations by those who want to live like
- 3:13Jesus who is raised King of Kings and
- 3:16Lord of Lords. Hurts.
