- 1:04Speaker 2: room and enjoy with us. A fun victory last night
- 1:09Speaker 2: for the Steelers in Detroit yesterday into the evening. It
- 1:13Speaker 2: was just, you know, a big win for the Steelers,
- 1:15Speaker 2: maybe their most complete win I think their most complete, winning,
- 1:18Speaker 2: best win of the season. It was, and I don't
- 1:22Speaker 2: think a lot of people had a lot of faith
- 1:24Speaker 2: that they could go in there and do what they did.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I thought that if they want, it was gonna be
- 1:29Speaker 2: low scoring. It turned out to be kind of in between.
- 1:32Speaker 2: It wasn't a high scoring Lion shootout. It wasn't a
- 1:34Speaker 2: low scoring game, Max. I just thought it was maybe
- 1:38Speaker 2: their most not not maybe let me let me rewind.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I thought it was their most complete game of the year.
- 1:44Speaker 4: And you know what I would I would agree. I
- 1:47Speaker 4: think this was this was very, very close to a
- 1:52Speaker 4: full complete sixty minutes of of just Steeler football, right offensively, defensively,
- 1:59Speaker 4: special team wise, and I felt, like, you know, offensively
- 2:04Speaker 4: it was it was about as good as you could
- 2:07Speaker 4: have expected, right. I mean, to have the explosive plays
- 2:10Speaker 4: that they did, not one, not two, but three different
- 2:15Speaker 4: forty five yard touchdowns plays in this game is pretty phenomenal.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Two hundred and thirty plus rushing yards and versus fifteen
- 2:30Speaker 4: rushing yards, I mean, that's that's just I'm gonna be frank,
- 2:33Speaker 4: that's a hell of a stat as a hell of
- 2:35Speaker 4: a stat I mean, let's just be honest, let's just
- 2:38Speaker 4: call it what it is. That's that is fantastic numbers.
- 2:46Speaker 4: And we were treated to a wild finish and so
- 2:50Speaker 4: you're absolutely right. I mean, it was. It was everything
- 2:54Speaker 4: you could have wanted in more from a full games
- 2:58Speaker 4: worth of football.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Okay, I suppose if I'm gonna you know, if I'm
- 3:06Speaker 2: trying to put myself in the shoes of some quibblers
- 3:11Speaker 2: while also pointing out what I think are some real
- 3:15Speaker 2: positives for the Steelers. So the Steelers beat the Colts
- 3:20Speaker 2: when the Colts were still the Colts, right, they were
- 3:24Speaker 2: seven and one, and they were, you know, the top
- 3:27Speaker 2: team in the AFC. And the Steelers were up twenty
- 3:30Speaker 2: seven to twenty with after they kicked a field goal
- 3:35Speaker 2: with under seven minutes left in that game, so they
- 3:39Speaker 2: were dominating.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Now.
- 3:40Speaker 2: The Colts came back, scored a quick touchdown and then
- 3:44Speaker 2: kicked the field goal late to give themselves a chance
- 3:46Speaker 2: to recover the on side kick and make a game
- 3:49Speaker 2: of it. The Steelers had, you know, a nice lead
- 3:53Speaker 2: on the Ravens. The Ravens came back closer in that game.
- 3:56Speaker 2: They had a big lead on the Vikings in Dublin
- 4:00Speaker 2: yesterday against the Lions. You know, it was the Lions
- 4:03Speaker 2: who who clawed back into this game when the Steelers,
- 4:06Speaker 2: you know, up twenty nine to seventeen. I think the
- 4:10Speaker 2: positive for me out of that, so people can say, well,
- 4:12Speaker 2: the next thing they have to do is finish, and
- 4:14Speaker 2: Cam Cam Hayward kind of said that last night. Hey,
- 4:16Speaker 2: we played three good quarters of football. But the fact
- 4:20Speaker 2: to me, and one of the things I said to
- 4:22Speaker 2: you before we went our separate ways last night, Max,
- 4:25Speaker 2: you flying back to Arizona, me flying here by the way,
- 4:28Speaker 2: I hope your flight went well. I'll ask you that
- 4:30Speaker 2: in a moment. But the last one of the last
- 4:32Speaker 2: things I said to you was I can't wait to
- 4:33Speaker 2: see the power ratings this week because the Steelers have
- 4:38Speaker 2: they've not only beaten some quality teams, but they've they've
- 4:45Speaker 2: you know, had the upper hand in a considerable fashion
- 4:48Speaker 2: and some late scores have made it look close. And
- 4:50Speaker 2: I was more than that last night. Obviously, there's a
- 4:52Speaker 2: bunch of controversial calls at the end. I thought there's
- 4:55Speaker 2: a bunch of controversial calls throughout the game. But the
- 4:57Speaker 2: fact that the Steelers at their best can take it
- 5:00Speaker 2: to these teams and we're seeing now, you know, over
- 5:04Speaker 2: the last few weeks what we didn't see in earlier
- 5:08Speaker 2: games against Seattle, against the Bills, against the Packers, against
- 5:14Speaker 2: the Bears, and that is the ability to you know,
- 5:16Speaker 2: come out and play a strong third quarter and really
- 5:19Speaker 2: maintain the upperhand. Because remember in all four of those
- 5:22Speaker 2: games I just listed this, Yeers had the lead at
- 5:24Speaker 2: halftime and got the ball to begin the second half.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Or the last three weeks during this three game winning streak,
- 5:30Speaker 2: those are distant memories, those third quarter woes, and I
- 5:32Speaker 2: think that that's you know, I really cannot wait to
- 5:36Speaker 2: see the power rankings. That was the last thing I said, Max,
- 5:38Speaker 2: I can't wait to see the power rankings this week
- 5:40Speaker 2: because I'm really interested to see how this deelers are
- 5:45Speaker 2: perceived around the NFL.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you completely, You completely did that, and you said that,
- 5:52Speaker 4: and I remember agreeing like wow, you know, and we
- 5:56Speaker 4: were like, okay, well, will we get in the top ten?
- 5:59Speaker 4: Will we crack? Then? Finally, with this performance and the
- 6:02Speaker 4: way that we played with the last two weeks, that's
- 6:04Speaker 4: gonna be the question. But I will say, you're absolutely right,
- 6:08Speaker 4: this is this is now not an accident, this is
- 6:11Speaker 4: a habit, right, this is three games in a row,
- 6:15Speaker 4: two of which you had stellar run defense. You know,
- 6:21Speaker 4: obviously the Baltimore game was one you still kind of
- 6:24Speaker 4: gave up yardage, but they were inconsequential yard inconsequential yards
- 6:29Speaker 4: against the Ravens. But when you need it, especially against
- 6:34Speaker 4: the Dolphins team that was tenacious and averaging almost two
- 6:39Speaker 4: hundred yards, you shut that game down. And then now
- 6:43Speaker 4: the NFL's number one offense.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah, like you.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Said, a top rushing attack, you went toe to toe
- 6:51Speaker 4: with the NFL's number one passing offense. And that's that's
- 6:56Speaker 4: pretty phenomenal. But the fifteen opposing rushing yards for an
- 7:04Speaker 4: already thousand back and Jamier.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Gibbs and a heck of a heck of a thunder
- 7:12Speaker 5: lightning combo and David Montgomery fifteen combined net rushing yards
- 7:19Speaker 5: is just that's a hammer.
- 7:21Speaker 4: That is a hammer. And you know, all the credit
- 7:25Speaker 4: goes to everybody on the defense. Everybody on the defense
- 7:31Speaker 4: did something spectacular. For your defense to win that game,
- 7:37Speaker 4: they all had to do something spectacular and they did.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Yep, they did.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And you know, we started this with a clip from
- 7:47Speaker 2: jail And Warren, who now is a career high in
- 7:49Speaker 2: rushing yards. His previous high had been seven hundred and
- 7:52Speaker 2: eighty four back in twenty twenty three.
- 7:55Speaker 3: He's at eight twenty eight.
- 7:56Speaker 2: He is over one thousand yards from scrimmage on the season,
- 8:00Speaker 2: eleven twenty eight scrimmage yards. You know, the I think also,
- 8:05Speaker 2: you know, it's kudos to the line play on both sides.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And I agree Max with you wholeheartedly. I thought that,
- 8:12Speaker 2: you know, what the Steelers did again, you know, controlling
- 8:16Speaker 2: the clock, how important that is and and being able to,
- 8:20Speaker 2: you know, to to take it to this Lion's defense.
- 8:24Speaker 2: But on the other end, you know, part of the
- 8:27Speaker 2: part of the time of possession is them not having it.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And the Steelers dominated time of possession, second consecutive week
- 8:34Speaker 2: that they've that, they've pulled that off. And I didn't
- 8:38Speaker 2: they they ran. I think they run They ran one
- 8:41Speaker 2: more play than the Lions. So that's a second straight
- 8:43Speaker 2: week they've done that. They hadn't done that all season
- 8:45Speaker 2: until last week.
- 8:47Speaker 3: But I agree with you.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I think the defense, the defensive front, and I include that,
- 8:56Speaker 2: you know, the two outside linebackers, you know, Sawyer and
- 9:00Speaker 2: high Smith. You know, although we did see some other
- 9:02Speaker 2: guys coming in there, to spell them on occasion.
- 9:06Speaker 3: But there was no cutback. There was no getting to
- 9:09Speaker 3: the edge.
- 9:10Speaker 4: You know.
- 9:10Speaker 2: The lions get to the edge in a couple of
- 9:12Speaker 2: different ways, right, They run sweeps designed to get to
- 9:15Speaker 2: the edge, and then they bounce it outside. And we
- 9:17Speaker 2: saw the bounce it outside against the Bills, and and
- 9:21Speaker 2: how huge that was with James Cook doing that again
- 9:25Speaker 2: and again and again against the Steelers, and that just
- 9:28Speaker 2: wasn't there, man, that was closed down. There was nowhere
- 9:31Speaker 2: to go forward, and there was nowhere to go sideways.
- 9:37Speaker 4: It was it was. It was smothering, right, smothering. It was.
- 9:40Speaker 4: It was smothering. And and I resisted the urge to
- 9:45Speaker 4: make a make a food reference, uh in that.
- 9:49Speaker 3: But where we where were we gonna go with?
- 9:52Speaker 4: Oh? I was gonna say Denny style smother smother covered
- 9:55Speaker 4: and scattered, you know, I mean that's exactly what it was.
- 9:59Speaker 4: The hash Browns in order it that way, Or you
- 10:02Speaker 4: can go to waffle house and do the same thing.
- 10:03Speaker 4: I mean, you know, pick and choose. I mean, I
- 10:06Speaker 4: prefer less violence. I mean waffle House you have to
- 10:09Speaker 4: have you have to have, yeah, yeah, you have to
- 10:12Speaker 4: have at least a squabble, a squabble certificate. Uh to
- 10:15Speaker 4: go into a waffle house now, so uh, I prefer
- 10:18Speaker 4: Denny's anyways. No, but they were smothering. I mean Alex
- 10:23Speaker 4: high Smith, Alex high Smith, Alex high Smith, I mean
- 10:29Speaker 4: I felt like I had to put the emphasis on
- 10:32Speaker 4: that because he was phenomenal. He was everything you needed
- 10:41Speaker 4: him to be in the absence of TJ pressure at
- 10:48Speaker 4: the quarterback just dominated the backside, run blocks and getting
- 10:54Speaker 4: off his block and making the play, being the force
- 10:58Speaker 4: of the point on plays run his side, directing traffic
- 11:04Speaker 4: and getting people lined up in the right place. He
- 11:08Speaker 4: was all that. So kudos not only to the defense,
- 11:12Speaker 4: but to Aaron Rodgers. Not even gonna say aa Ron,
- 11:18Speaker 4: that's Aaron freaking Rogers at a nice day, processing, fueling
- 11:28Speaker 4: and feeding the players. So yeah, I mean, I know
- 11:34Speaker 4: that was a defensive question, but you know, the best
- 11:37Speaker 4: defense is a good offense, right, you know, one that
- 11:41Speaker 4: gets you off the field, one that gets you in
- 11:43Speaker 4: position to be strong for the next series. And him
- 11:48Speaker 4: in the offensive line and the pieces did just that,
- 11:53Speaker 4: and they allowed for that defense to hunt, and that
- 11:56Speaker 4: defense hunted early and often.
- 12:00Speaker 2: So there's just so much to talk about before we
- 12:02Speaker 2: do that Max. How were the travels of Max Starks?
- 12:06Speaker 2: Was your plane on? Did you get First of all,
- 12:08Speaker 2: did you get your flight? It was a long game.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I had no idea what time it was, and you know,
- 12:14Speaker 2: it was such an exciting game that I wasn't wrapped
- 12:16Speaker 2: up and how long it took.
- 12:17Speaker 3: But evidently it was a really long game.
- 12:20Speaker 2: And I know you had a flight to get to
- 12:22Speaker 2: Did you make your flight? Did you get home safe? Well,
- 12:25Speaker 2: obviously you got home safe and sound, but did you
- 12:26Speaker 2: get home without any any further issues last night?
- 12:32Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna just say that.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I made it home. I made it home.
- 12:37Speaker 4: It was, it was. It was very interesting a flight.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Uh you know, I flew from Detroit to Saint Louis,
- 12:47Speaker 4: Saint Louis back here to Phoenix.
- 12:50Speaker 3: And.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I was. I was a little late, a little
- 12:55Speaker 4: late getting in last night for delays.
- 13:01Speaker 3: You know.
- 13:01Speaker 4: The first flight had its own complications. I'm not gonna
- 13:05Speaker 4: yes get too far into that one, but it.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Was Toye's left alone.
- 13:10Speaker 4: But uh yeah, yeah, yeah, but so so yeah, but no,
- 13:15Speaker 4: but I mean and at the end of the day,
- 13:17Speaker 4: I know what I signed up for, and so that's
- 13:19Speaker 4: why you know, Hey, I am here present, locked and loaded.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Uh.
- 13:24Speaker 4: But yeah, it was definitely peeling my face off the
- 13:27Speaker 4: bed to get up the phone. Was definitely definitely one
- 13:32Speaker 4: of those in it. Yeah, it was just it was
- 13:34Speaker 4: just a long night.
- 13:36Speaker 3: So we're gonna lay out what we have uh for
- 13:40Speaker 3: you today.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Later on we're gonna be taking your phone calls as
- 13:43Speaker 2: we do on Mondays four one, one, three, one six.
- 13:48Speaker 2: We're going to talk about some of the heroes of
- 13:50Speaker 2: this game, and to me, there were a bunch of them.
- 13:55Speaker 2: And and let me just get this out of the
- 13:57Speaker 2: way and say this, twenty two consecutive non losing seasons.
- 14:03Speaker 2: And I understand, you know, the standard is a standard,
- 14:06Speaker 2: and they're not just after mediocrity and not just after
- 14:09Speaker 2: squeezing out winning seasons. But that is an incredible stretch.
- 14:14Speaker 2: It's the longest in NFL history. It was secured last night,
- 14:17Speaker 2: and it was secured while Mike Tomlin was earning his
- 14:21Speaker 2: two hundredth career victory regular season in playoffs combined.
- 14:25Speaker 3: I didn't want that to get lost in the shuffle.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It's not the most it's not the thing coming out
- 14:30Speaker 2: of this game that people are gonna be like, ah,
- 14:31Speaker 2: look at this, but I just wanted to mention it
- 14:33Speaker 2: because you know, I'm gonna use a double negative here
- 14:37Speaker 2: as a positive. It's not nothing, you know what I mean?
- 14:42Speaker 2: I mean, think about yeah, all the teams. You know,
- 14:45Speaker 2: every year that you get into the playoffs, you have hope, right,
- 14:50Speaker 2: at least you have hope. At least you're on a
- 14:52Speaker 2: journey of hope. And what did the Bills go almost
- 14:57Speaker 2: two decades without a winning season and without get into
- 15:00Speaker 2: the playoffs?
- 15:00Speaker 3: I mean, is that what people want?
- 15:03Speaker 4: You know?
- 15:03Speaker 2: You you have a terrible record, but yeah, it's it's
- 15:07Speaker 2: time we tear this down to the studs and rebuild.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Okay, well how often does that work?
- 15:10Speaker 4: Right?
- 15:11Speaker 2: And then that doesn't work? And now you're onto another
- 15:13Speaker 2: coach and another general manager and another five year plan.
- 15:16Speaker 2: And I understand this isn't the stated goal of the team,
- 15:19Speaker 2: right And I understand that, and I want to see
- 15:22Speaker 2: them get to the playoffs and win games too.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I want to call a super Bowl with you, Max,
- 15:25Speaker 3: That's what I want to do.
- 15:27Speaker 2: So I understand that from the fans, and I've been
- 15:29Speaker 2: here for every one of those seasons, so I just
- 15:33Speaker 2: think that it shouldn't be it's shrugged off by some
- 15:37Speaker 2: it's you know, use it in a pejorative sense by others.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Yeah, twenty two.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Winning, Yeah, yeah, it's it's an accomplishment, right, It's not
- 15:47Speaker 2: the accomplishment. The accomplishment's winning the super Bowl, but it's
- 15:50Speaker 2: an accomplishment. And I don't think it should just be
- 15:53Speaker 2: completely shrugged off.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think you're absolutely right to that. And
- 15:59Speaker 4: you know what, I want to call super Bowl with
- 16:01Speaker 4: you too. And I think you know, when you see
- 16:07Speaker 4: these type of performances, you breathe a little bit of
- 16:11Speaker 4: a sigh of relief, right You you start to open
- 16:16Speaker 4: up the belief category, right, you approach it cautiously. We're
- 16:24Speaker 4: not sitting here and saying, oh my gosh. You know,
- 16:26Speaker 4: we're not gonna be facetious and be like the true
- 16:30Speaker 4: Homers and just blind, you know, oh my god, and
- 16:33Speaker 4: everything is awesome. They're gonna they're gonna roll through. They're
- 16:35Speaker 4: not gonna lose another game until I don't know when
- 16:39Speaker 4: they're gonna be the new Kansas City. No, no, we're
- 16:42Speaker 4: not doing We're not doing that. But at the same time,
- 16:49Speaker 4: you have to recognize stellar performances and stellar leadership, stellar
- 17:00Speaker 4: personnel that gets along, that communicates, and that also wants
- 17:06Speaker 4: to go be physically manipulating the outcome of the game
- 17:13Speaker 4: towards your team. You want to have those guys that
- 17:19Speaker 4: will just follow and that will rally each other, that
- 17:23Speaker 4: will inspire each other, that will work together through all
- 17:27Speaker 4: the adversities of injuries, of everything else, injuries, change of positions,
- 17:34Speaker 4: to motions, promotions, you know, yelling at each other, but
- 17:41Speaker 4: at the end of the day, knowing that it's all
- 17:43Speaker 4: love because we're all on the same page. And it's
- 17:46Speaker 4: pretty phenomenal to watch when all of that does come together.
- 17:51Speaker 2: And it looks like it's coming together in a good
- 17:52Speaker 2: way for this to There's still two more games to play.
- 17:54Speaker 2: The man O man not only their win in Detroit,
- 17:59Speaker 2: but the Patreots win against the Ravens last night. So
- 18:02Speaker 2: we're gonna be taking your phone calls a little bit
- 18:04Speaker 2: later on. We're gonna give you your AFC recap with
- 18:07Speaker 2: still one more game of importance to be played tonight
- 18:10Speaker 2: on Monday Night Football. A look at some of the
- 18:12Speaker 2: heroes and there were just a lot of them for
- 18:14Speaker 2: the Steelers yesterday. Where the Steelers are right now at
- 18:18Speaker 2: nine and six, are they poised to make a run
- 18:21Speaker 2: in the playoffs. We're gonna talk about that and much
- 18:24Speaker 2: more when we continue in the Locker Room presented by
- 18:26Speaker 2: our neighborhood Ford Store and the Steelers Pro Shop on
- 18:28Speaker 2: Steelers Nation Radio, a part of the Steelers Audio Network.
- 18:36Speaker 1: This is in the Locker Room with King and Starks
- 18:40Speaker 1: on Steelers Nation Radio, presented by your neighborhood Ford Store.
- 18:45Speaker 1: The F one point fifty is the official truck of
- 18:47Speaker 1: the Pittsburgh Steelers and by Steelers Pro Shop. Get it
- 18:50Speaker 1: direct from the team at the Steelers Pro Shop at
- 18:53Speaker 1: shop dot Steelers dot com.
- 18:55Speaker 2: It's a snap line's bringing four Rogers back and is
- 18:59Speaker 2: gonna throw right deep again. A lot of contact downfield.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Did Gamewell catch fact?
- 19:04Speaker 4: He did, Holy mackerel.
- 19:07Speaker 2: He was laying down on the ground, soup Pine caught it,
- 19:11Speaker 2: picked it up, ran it into the end zone, and
- 19:13Speaker 2: now the officials.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Are gathering at the five yard line. That you talk
- 19:18Speaker 3: about a Christmas miracle. He caught that patch.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Catch, Wow, Holy mackerel.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Pittsburgh Steelers touchdown.
- 19:30Speaker 1: What off play?
- 19:35Speaker 2: I don't think I have anything to add to that, Max,
- 19:37Speaker 2: I mean, I just you know, there were so many
- 19:41Speaker 2: plays where I'm picking my jab off the floor from
- 19:44Speaker 2: yesterday's game, and that was I think that was number
- 19:47Speaker 2: one on the list. That was our Steveters Drive you
- 19:50Speaker 2: the game presented by your neighborhood Forster. The F one
- 19:52Speaker 2: fifty is the official truck of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and
- 19:56Speaker 2: it was just an incredible catch and just and just
- 19:59Speaker 2: reset was going on there. You know, you're hoping that
- 20:03Speaker 2: the Steelers are going to find a way, you know,
- 20:06Speaker 2: to to maybe score some points, right you know, to
- 20:09Speaker 2: Slaw gets the touchdown reception from golf with a minute
- 20:14Speaker 2: fifty five left that ties.
- 20:16Speaker 3: The game at ten. You know, you don't have that.
- 20:20Speaker 2: You don't have that great feeling right at this at
- 20:23Speaker 2: this day, I beg your pardon that put the Lions up.
- 20:26Speaker 2: They were up ten to three, right, So you don't
- 20:28Speaker 2: have a great feeling. But you're thinking, okay, double score,
- 20:31Speaker 2: maybe go down, you kick a field goal, you make
- 20:33Speaker 2: it ten to six, maybe you come back and score
- 20:36Speaker 2: a touchdown.
- 20:37Speaker 3: At the beginning of the drive, you're thinking touchdown.
- 20:38Speaker 2: But then there were penalties and other things going on,
- 20:41Speaker 2: and then both teams are kind of playing the clock
- 20:43Speaker 2: game because the Lions at three time outs left. The
- 20:46Speaker 2: last thing you wanted to do is throw three in
- 20:48Speaker 2: complete passes punted away the Lions or their explosive offense.
- 20:52Speaker 2: They march down the field. You know, maybe they score
- 20:54Speaker 2: a touchdown before the half. Now it's seventeen to three
- 20:57Speaker 2: in a game in which you've outplayed them in the
- 20:59Speaker 2: first you don't want that. And so you know, you're,
- 21:03Speaker 2: you're all these things are conspiring to sort of think
- 21:06Speaker 2: field goal and hey, can we get at least some
- 21:10Speaker 2: points on the board. You know, uh, don't let them
- 21:13Speaker 2: score for sure, maybe we get some points on the board.
- 21:15Speaker 2: And then to have that play, I mean, Max, incredible,
- 21:20Speaker 2: absolutely incredible, and welcome back.
- 21:29Speaker 3: In the locker room.
- 21:29Speaker 2: You know, I think what happened there was justin Miller
- 21:33Speaker 2: just didn't like the way the conversation was going, and.
- 21:38Speaker 4: He just wanted us to He just wanted to play
- 21:41Speaker 4: more of his his his holiday Christmas beds. He was
- 21:45Speaker 4: trying to figure out how to get an extra one
- 21:47Speaker 4: in there. You know, we have we have eight breaks,
- 21:49Speaker 4: he has he has ten of these songs.
- 21:51Speaker 2: So I think I think you've hit upon it, Max,
- 21:56Speaker 2: But you know, we're just talking about the importance of
- 22:00Speaker 2: that drive before for the end of the half, and
- 22:04Speaker 2: just again just in case I don't remember what got
- 22:07Speaker 2: what was said and what wasn't. But if you remember,
- 22:10Speaker 2: the Lions had just scored, right, the Steelers were playing
- 22:13Speaker 2: out playing the Lions. They hadn't quite started dominating yet,
- 22:16Speaker 2: but they were dominating them defensively. You know, they're holding
- 22:20Speaker 2: them down. The Lions come up with a drive, they score.
- 22:23Speaker 2: It's ten to three at the half. You know, on
- 22:25Speaker 2: the positive side, you're thinking double score. On the negative side,
- 22:29Speaker 2: you're thinking, you can't go three and out because they've
- 22:31Speaker 2: got all their timeouts left. They could march down and
- 22:34Speaker 2: suddenly it's seventeen to three and the game's over. So
- 22:37Speaker 2: there's this cat and mouse game going on. Then the
- 22:40Speaker 2: Steelers have some penalties and at that point you're thinking, look,
- 22:43Speaker 2: let's just get three, let's make it ten to six,
- 22:46Speaker 2: maybe come out in the second half, go on a
- 22:48Speaker 2: touchdown drive, retake the lead. And so that's why this
- 22:51Speaker 2: is our drive of the game that we talked about,
- 22:53Speaker 2: because that played by game well, I mean degree of difficulty,
- 22:58Speaker 2: you know, all the judgment given that a ten point oh,
- 23:01Speaker 2: I mean, I just I still don't know how he
- 23:03Speaker 2: caught it. Incredible catch and incredible touchdow.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Even as fickle as as ice skating judges might be,
- 23:08Speaker 4: I think the Russians probably still would have given it a.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Ten point Oh that's exactly, you know, by the way.
- 23:15Speaker 2: You know, every once in a while, I'll make it,
- 23:18Speaker 2: I'll make a statement that dates me. Like I remember
- 23:21Speaker 2: once we had a bunch of interns in the office
- 23:23Speaker 2: and I used a phrase drinking the kool Aid? And
- 23:25Speaker 2: then I looked at him and thought, do you guys
- 23:27Speaker 2: know where that comes from? And none of them did,
- 23:30Speaker 2: you know? Because because I'm older and I remember that
- 23:34Speaker 2: that was a big story when I was a kid.
- 23:35Speaker 3: That was you know, Jim.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Jones and yeah, all his father was drinking the kool
- 23:39Speaker 2: aid and poisoning themselves. And so this is when the
- 23:43Speaker 2: Russian judges, so back in the day, you know, during
- 23:45Speaker 2: the Olympics, you have all these judges and you know,
- 23:49Speaker 2: some American gymnast would turn in a sterling performance and
- 23:52Speaker 2: they'd be.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Like nine point nine, nine point nine, and the.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Russian judge, because of the cold warn everything was gonna
- 23:58Speaker 2: you know, seven point four.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Like what do you the Russian judges come on, man,
- 24:02Speaker 3: you know.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Because I'm sure you know, you're you're you're strong exactly
- 24:06Speaker 2: from our you know, you're thinking these people gonna go
- 24:09Speaker 2: back and be sent to the you know, salt mines
- 24:11Speaker 2: in Siberia if they.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Give him a nine. You know, we don't know, right
- 24:14Speaker 3: we iron curtain and all that.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Anyway, Yeah, Russian judges, Yeah exactly. I just I just
- 24:20Speaker 4: dated myself as well. So that's that's what you're telling me.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I'm sure most of the people wanted to get that,
- 24:25Speaker 2: but still it's yeah, exactly exactly.
- 24:27Speaker 3: You know, you're right.
- 24:28Speaker 4: Every once in a while there's a couple of them
- 24:30Speaker 4: where you're just like, whoa, that's a year old. Now,
- 24:34Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, you know what, whear it with pride,
- 24:38Speaker 4: Wear it with pride, right, right, Kinger, we wear it
- 24:40Speaker 4: with pride better than the alternative. Right. But but yeah,
- 24:45Speaker 4: but you're right. I mean that drive was such a
- 24:48Speaker 4: statement and then we kind of look back on it.
- 24:52Speaker 4: It's just a microcosm of what if we would have
- 24:55Speaker 4: known that was just a little a little teaser or
- 24:58Speaker 4: precursor to what we were gonna get at the end
- 25:01Speaker 4: of the game. Was that into the half type of
- 25:04Speaker 4: sequence and scenario I would have said pitch posh. Nothing
- 25:08Speaker 4: beats that, but I stand it correct. I stand correct
- 25:12Speaker 4: at Kinger, Yeah, stand corrected.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Somebody made the observation and it was passed on to me.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Wild This end to a first half and second half
- 25:22Speaker 2: for the Steelers. Since that Super Bowl against the Cardinals,
- 25:25Speaker 2: you know, when you had James Harrison kicking off the
- 25:27Speaker 2: pass and running it down and then of course bend
- 25:30Speaker 2: to Santonio Holmes to win it, you know, the stakes
- 25:33Speaker 2: weren't quite as high obviously yesterday. But you know, there's
- 25:37Speaker 2: and I suppose we should point this out. There's a
- 25:40Speaker 2: couple of things. First of all, DK Metcalf was involved
- 25:43Speaker 2: in some sort of altercation around the sidelines. We're on
- 25:47Speaker 2: the radio, we were watching replays of it. We don't know.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I don't know what happened. I don't know what's going
- 25:52Speaker 2: to happen. So I'm gonna reserve any kind of statement
- 25:56Speaker 2: on that until the NFL issues its statement, because again
- 25:59Speaker 2: we're on so yeah, we're not hearing what's going on.
- 26:04Speaker 2: You know, we're seeing the replays. So I'm going to
- 26:07Speaker 2: reserve any kind of comment on that.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Now.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I was watching some shows this morning and they were
- 26:12Speaker 2: talking about the two plays at the end of the game,
- 26:16Speaker 2: and I was watching a show on ESPN, you know,
- 26:18Speaker 2: where they have coaches and former players, and the general
- 26:21Speaker 2: consensus was that the second play, the final play of
- 26:25Speaker 2: the game, was definitely offensive pass interference. The one before
- 26:29Speaker 2: was not, and they were hollering about that, and this
- 26:31Speaker 2: shouldn't have been called well because of when it happened. Max,
- 26:36Speaker 2: it's a huge call, but the Steelers had points taken
- 26:40Speaker 2: off on what I thought was an extremely dubious offensive
- 26:44Speaker 2: pass interference call on Darnell Washington. Of course they're not
- 26:49Speaker 2: attacking that because it didn't happen at the end of
- 26:51Speaker 2: the game. I still think and I haven't heard anybody
- 26:54Speaker 2: else's comments or opinions on that. I don't know. You know,
- 26:58Speaker 2: perhaps I'm wrong. Be the first to admit if I'm
- 27:01Speaker 2: wrong on that. But it seemed to me like Darnel
- 27:03Speaker 2: Washington was running a shallow cross. This wasn't an instance
- 27:06Speaker 2: where he ran out and pushed the guy into another
- 27:09Speaker 2: guy or anything. He was running across and the defender
- 27:11Speaker 2: ran into him. I I don't understand how that, But again,
- 27:16Speaker 2: and I will say this, at the end of the game,
- 27:19Speaker 2: the Lions pretty much said, Look, we didn't agree with
- 27:22Speaker 2: that first call, but that's not what cost us the game.
- 27:25Speaker 2: So so kudos to them for understanding that. Frankly, they
- 27:29Speaker 2: were just outplayed. The Steelers were the better team yesterday
- 27:33Speaker 2: for the majority of that game. You'd like to see
- 27:35Speaker 2: that last fifteen minutes. We saw it get away a
- 27:37Speaker 2: little bit in Minnesota in Dublin against the Minnesota Vikings.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Maybe gets a little way here. Some teams have crept
- 27:43Speaker 2: back into games. Whatever, the fact is the better team.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Won the game.
- 27:48Speaker 4: That You're absolutely right. I mean, the better team won
- 27:51Speaker 4: the game, and they outlasted I mean because that last drive,
- 27:54Speaker 4: especially the amount of penalties and the Tiki tech nature.
- 27:59Speaker 4: I still think they'll think that Zilster catch was and
- 28:02Speaker 4: not was incomplete. But right, I'm gonna that's the hell.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I'm prepared to die on that ball moved, that ball
- 28:09Speaker 4: was aided by the ground to secure the catch, and yeah,
- 28:13Speaker 4: I'm gonna stick with that.
- 28:15Speaker 3: So how about the pass interference call on Dugger? Game's over?
- 28:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and uh, the receiver I think it might have
- 28:22Speaker 2: been Williams comes up and starts making it where's the
- 28:24Speaker 2: flag notion? And then the two flags come in late
- 28:27Speaker 2: at the same time, here they come flying in and
- 28:29Speaker 2: like maybe it's late.
- 28:31Speaker 4: I was like, come on, man.
- 28:33Speaker 2: So maybe those officials are saying it take some time
- 28:35Speaker 2: to get that flag out and heave it that far
- 28:38Speaker 2: or whatever.
- 28:39Speaker 3: It felt like a bought call. It was really close.
- 28:43Speaker 2: And again, watching that show this morning, one of the
- 28:46Speaker 2: defenders former defenders, said, look, by the letter of the law,
- 28:48Speaker 2: that's probably past interference. But man, you know cause so
- 28:52Speaker 2: here's the thing. The same people that are gonna say,
- 28:56Speaker 2: let the players dictate the game.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Okay, So I have two problems.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Then.
- 29:00Speaker 2: One, you didn't let Kyle Duggars play stand right, that's
- 29:04Speaker 2: the players. I mean, that was really good defense by
- 29:07Speaker 2: Kyle Duggar, really good defense. It was so you didn't
- 29:11Speaker 2: let that. You didn't let that go. And here's the
- 29:13Speaker 2: other thing too. If a player doesn't catch a ball
- 29:18Speaker 2: like like Zilstra, perhaps is that letting the players? You know,
- 29:23Speaker 2: if I take you as a defensive player, as you know,
- 29:27Speaker 2: you're a receiver, let's turn the tables. Now you're a receiver.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I'm a defender. I take you. Let's say Jalen Ramsey
- 29:33Speaker 2: took amah Ra Saint Brown and threw him to the ground.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Am I not supposed to call that?
- 29:39Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 29:39Speaker 2: Is that the player letting the players win the g
- 29:41Speaker 2: can't you can't let the players dictate the game. I've
- 29:45Speaker 2: always loathed that expression. I understand it.
- 29:48Speaker 3: I get it. If it's close, maybe you don't call it.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Dugger was close? You know?
- 29:55Speaker 2: So I just think that, you know, that's a that's
- 29:59Speaker 2: a I don't like that. I don't like the logic
- 30:02Speaker 2: from which that statement comes, because that just means you're
- 30:06Speaker 2: inviting mayhem. You know, why not just let the offensive
- 30:09Speaker 2: lineman hold the guy. Well, you're letting the players decide
- 30:12Speaker 2: the game, Well, okay, then tackle Aiden Hutchinson. I mean,
- 30:16Speaker 2: you know, you have the game has to be officiated.
- 30:18Speaker 2: So this notion of I get it, if it's close,
- 30:21Speaker 2: maybe you let it go.
- 30:23Speaker 3: But I don't know.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I just think that. I just think I don't like that.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I've never liked that school of thinking. But regardless, Steelers
- 30:32Speaker 2: one man.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you're absolutely right. At the end of the day,
- 30:36Speaker 4: we got the result that was necessary exactly, and people
- 30:41Speaker 4: are like, oh, well it stole They did not steal
- 30:43Speaker 4: a victory. They went out there and they won it.
- 30:47Speaker 4: And as Steeler's victory Okay, there's anything you want to
- 30:50Speaker 4: say with the word steal, make sure you had the
- 30:52Speaker 4: errors at the end, because they they dominated and they
- 30:58Speaker 4: earned their victory. Donut Monday, they earned it and a
- 31:04Speaker 4: dominating how about how about if you want to say, oh,
- 31:07Speaker 4: the Lions got the game, how about not give up
- 31:08Speaker 4: four hundred and eighty one yards of offense?
- 31:10Speaker 3: Exactly right, exactly right, I believe you.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Give up three forty five yard touchdowns.
- 31:15Speaker 3: First four hundred yard offensive game for the Steelers.
- 31:18Speaker 2: They ran more plays, They outgained the Lions, They shut
- 31:20Speaker 2: down the running game, the better.
- 31:22Speaker 6: Team position dominated time of possession. Man, there's so much
- 31:28Speaker 6: to like about this game. We haven't even dived into
- 31:31Speaker 6: the heroes of this game, because there were a bunch
- 31:34Speaker 6: of a max exactly just a just a great game,
- 31:38Speaker 6: a great victory for the Steelers.
- 31:39Speaker 2: We're gonna get to more of that. We're gonna be
- 31:41Speaker 2: getting to your phone calls. We have to go around
- 31:43Speaker 2: the AFC with the AFC recap. What does the Steelers
- 31:45Speaker 2: win and the Ravens loss mean for the playoff picture
- 31:48Speaker 2: in general? We're gonna get to all that when we
- 31:51Speaker 2: continue in the locker room, presented by your Neighborhood Ford
- 31:54Speaker 2: storing the Steelers Pro Shop on Studish Nation Radio, a
- 31:56Speaker 2: part of the Steelers Audio Network.
- 32:03Speaker 1: This is in the Locker Room with Kingon Starks on
- 32:07Speaker 1: Steelers Nation Radio, presented by your Neighborhood Forward Store. The
- 32:12Speaker 1: F one fifty is the official truck of the Pittsburgh
- 32:15Speaker 1: Steelers and by Steelers Pro Shop. Get it direct from
- 32:18Speaker 1: the team at the Steelers Pro Shop at Shop dot
- 32:21Speaker 1: Steelers dot com.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Well, the Steelers with a tremendous victory against the Detroit
- 32:28Speaker 2: Lions twenty nine to twenty four. I think a lot
- 32:30Speaker 2: of people did not think this was possible, you know.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Mike Tomwin said at the end of the game in
- 32:36Speaker 2: his postgame comments, the game's got to look a certain
- 32:39Speaker 2: way this time of year, and that would looked a
- 32:42Speaker 2: certain way, you know, the defense playing strong, the offense.
- 32:46Speaker 2: This goes back to what the Steelers the blueprint they're
- 32:49Speaker 2: trying to put together of being a physical team. Detroit
- 32:53Speaker 2: is among the most physical teams in the NFL, and
- 32:57Speaker 2: the Steelers out physical them. And Max to me, I
- 33:02Speaker 2: want to start where you started at the beginning of
- 33:04Speaker 2: the show and reiterate again. Cam Hayward, another Monster game
- 33:08Speaker 2: I thought last week was Cam's best game of the season.
- 33:12Speaker 2: He followed that up, I thought, with another just monster game.
- 33:15Speaker 2: In this one, Keanu Benton comes up with a sack
- 33:18Speaker 2: five and a half sacks for him on the season.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Derek Harmon comes back, it just feels like when he's
- 33:24Speaker 2: in the game, and I know he didn't play last
- 33:25Speaker 2: week against the Dolphins when they shut down eight chan
- 33:27Speaker 2: in that running game, just feels like when he's back,
- 33:31Speaker 2: the run defense is better. And then I really thought
- 33:35Speaker 2: Jack Sawyer did a great job of setting the edge.
- 33:37Speaker 2: And remember he's going against Penny Sewell, he's going against
- 33:41Speaker 2: the best right tackle in the NFL, you know, and
- 33:44Speaker 2: it's not like they were running around the right edge.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I thought Jack Seward did a great job. And as
- 33:48Speaker 2: he mentioned, I thought another guy who with a monster
- 33:51Speaker 2: game in addition to Hayward.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Was Alex Heismith. So kudos to all those guys.
- 33:56Speaker 2: If you're putting a gold star in the helmet, maybe
- 33:59Speaker 2: it's Smith and Hayward. But I just thought that front
- 34:03Speaker 2: five was just fantastic in this game.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Uh. They they played phenomenal. They did they did everything
- 34:12Speaker 4: you could have hoped for, and they kept everything close
- 34:19Speaker 4: in the in this contest, and like I said, the
- 34:22Speaker 4: run defense was just immaculate when you're thinking about how
- 34:27Speaker 4: do you stop the number one offense? And I thought
- 34:32Speaker 4: this was the key. You had to pick one of
- 34:34Speaker 4: two right, And I said, if we could limit the
- 34:39Speaker 4: run game, we would we we would have a shot
- 34:43Speaker 4: at winning this game. And it's exactly how it played out.
- 34:48Speaker 4: I said. I said, you know, I'm a Ross Saint
- 34:50Speaker 4: Brown James Wood. They can have games, they can have plays,
- 34:53Speaker 4: and I was not expecting them to also shut them
- 34:56Speaker 4: down as much as they did for most of that game.
- 35:00Speaker 4: And Clif Raymond, of course, you know, had a little bit,
- 35:04Speaker 4: you know, he he he kind of went off a
- 35:06Speaker 4: little bit random insert uh tight end name, uh here,
- 35:12Speaker 4: that's not Sam Laporta.
- 35:14Speaker 2: They had two catches combined, the three of them all year, exactly.
- 35:18Speaker 4: All year, all year.
- 35:20Speaker 2: I was a little slow in the uptake. Max Cheek said,
- 35:24Speaker 2: you got to read the scouting report. I said, what
- 35:25Speaker 2: scouting report?
- 35:27Speaker 3: I was a little as usual. Max is a step
- 35:29Speaker 3: ahead of me, and I was like, oh, yeah, he's.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Being facetious because they had two three of them catch
- 35:35Speaker 2: on this show.
- 35:35Speaker 3: We said last week gone the tight ends are.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Hey, that's that's the one thing we dont to worry about.
- 35:40Speaker 3: The tight ends.
- 35:40Speaker 4: I was like, oh, geez, what one guy's making place
- 35:43Speaker 4: tight ends?
- 35:44Speaker 3: Right, but they had.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Seven catches between them, the tight ends. But you know what, man,
- 35:49Speaker 2: so what go ahead, go ahead? If you stop stop
- 35:54Speaker 2: the room was key. Stop the room was key. And
- 35:58Speaker 2: I would have never known they would have done it
- 36:00Speaker 2: to the tune that they did. But it was the
- 36:03Speaker 2: key to the game was stopping their run.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Yep.
- 36:07Speaker 2: And then you know, I totally agree, totally totally agree
- 36:12Speaker 2: that puts them in bad passing situations. We saw the
- 36:16Speaker 2: students blitzing on the final play of the game. This
- 36:18Speaker 2: year has brought two and dropped nine. Yeah, the ability
- 36:22Speaker 2: to mix up what you're doing up front. And of
- 36:24Speaker 2: course they got home for three sacks. And there were
- 36:28Speaker 2: nine more quarterback hits, you know, two by high Smith,
- 36:32Speaker 2: one by well, I'm gonna get to him in a minute,
- 36:34Speaker 2: two by Benton, two by Hayward. So Hayward not only
- 36:37Speaker 2: comes up with a sack, two by Sawyer. So they
- 36:39Speaker 2: were you know, they were a bunch of near sacks.
- 36:41Speaker 2: But they you know, they they were getting to golf
- 36:44Speaker 2: and I thought they did a great job. I thought
- 36:47Speaker 2: a couple other guys, and again I don't want to
- 36:50Speaker 2: leave anybody out. You know, Patrick Queen, I think just
- 36:52Speaker 2: continues to play really good football. Peyton Wilson was a
- 36:56Speaker 2: dynamo on special teams. He had three special teams tackle.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Brunner had three assists on special team tackles. But I
- 37:03Speaker 2: thought two guys in the secondary in particular played great games.
- 37:08Speaker 2: And to me, Kyle Duggar I thought was fantastic. He
- 37:12Speaker 2: had a sack, a tackle, quarterback hit. And Joey Porter
- 37:17Speaker 2: great coverage and great tackling. I thought both from Joey
- 37:21Speaker 2: Porter Jr.
- 37:22Speaker 4: In this game, You're absolutely right, And I completely concur
- 37:27Speaker 4: I thought, you know.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Dougger and and and j P j.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Were just phenomenal on that secondary side.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Uh.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Jalen Ramsey I gonna also, I'm gonna throw I'm gonna
- 37:39Speaker 4: throw kudos in for him too, because I thought, you know,
- 37:43Speaker 4: his ability to just trigger that that that that tackle
- 37:46Speaker 4: for loss early in that in the second half, like
- 37:50Speaker 4: well well no, it was yeah, early in the second half,
- 37:54Speaker 4: like the I mean kung fu grip, right, you know
- 38:00Speaker 4: what I'm saying, Like that was that was so phenomenal.
- 38:04Speaker 4: He triggered, he blew through the gap, and he just
- 38:07Speaker 4: absolutely held on till the reinforcements came. And once again,
- 38:13Speaker 4: you know, that's why you know the rules now. Granted,
- 38:15Speaker 4: you know, I was in the No Fun League era
- 38:18Speaker 4: where everything had to be uniform and everything I had
- 38:20Speaker 4: be tucked in. Your socks had to be all uniform
- 38:22Speaker 4: and everything. Oh blah blah blah blah blah. I'm so
- 38:26Speaker 4: appreciative that those rules are lacks now because that ate
- 38:30Speaker 4: it in that play, you know, the lack of tucking
- 38:33Speaker 4: your jersey in and having your undershirt exposed. Thank you,
- 38:38Speaker 4: Thank you for your lack of decorum because that at
- 38:41Speaker 4: Jalen Ramsey took full advantage and he was just in
- 38:44Speaker 4: on everything he was around. He distorted, he confused. I mean,
- 38:50Speaker 4: you know, he blitzed, He covered, I mean everything you
- 38:54Speaker 4: could have asked him to do. Jalen Ramsey has truly
- 38:56Speaker 4: been just phenomenal, especially since he switched to the safety position.
- 39:01Speaker 4: It's been just fantastic to see. And like you said,
- 39:05Speaker 4: the starting safety duos we had to start the season
- 39:09Speaker 4: are not the safety duo we have right now. So
- 39:12Speaker 4: once again, a tip of the cap to the front
- 39:14Speaker 4: office for identifying those guys and having them available on
- 39:21Speaker 4: the roster to be deployed to go get Kyle Duggar
- 39:25Speaker 4: from New England and have him insert because I can
- 39:30Speaker 4: guarantee you listen, New England's rolling. They're doing a great job.
- 39:34Speaker 4: But thank you for Kyle Duggar. Glad you guys didn't
- 39:38Speaker 4: need him, because we do and he's been He's been
- 39:41Speaker 4: nothing but a bright spot for us. You know, Brandon
- 39:47Speaker 4: Eckles up until the injury, was playing lights out as
- 39:50Speaker 4: well in that game. His coverage was tight, He made
- 39:55Speaker 4: some key plays that could have just broken wide open.
- 39:59Speaker 4: And if for him, even the tackle he got injured on,
- 40:04Speaker 4: I mean it was a huge play because if he
- 40:05Speaker 4: doesn't make that tackle, it's at least a fifteen yard
- 40:09Speaker 4: fifteen more yards from where he hit him. So you're right,
- 40:14Speaker 4: there was a lot of heroes. And like I said,
- 40:15Speaker 4: I mean we could pretty much name everybody on the
- 40:17Speaker 4: defense and say what they contributed to, right, I mean,
- 40:20Speaker 4: Hyya Black, how big was that? What was him dropping
- 40:25Speaker 4: it to coverage and batting down and passed that was
- 40:28Speaker 4: gonna be to a wide open, unknown tight end. Right,
- 40:32Speaker 4: Zilstraw was wide open on the seam in the end
- 40:35Speaker 4: zone and ya black with a big bear pause, no gloves,
- 40:39Speaker 4: no tape, just old school throwback, right, He's like, hey, hey,
- 40:44Speaker 4: my hands are good. My hands are good at that moment. So, yeah,
- 40:48Speaker 4: there was there was a lot of There was a
- 40:49Speaker 4: lot of heroes defensively, man, a lot.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Of guys had their hand in the pile for sure.
- 40:53Speaker 2: And we haven't even talked about the offense, which was incredible.
- 40:59Speaker 2: You know, Aaron Rodgers throws for two sixty six the
- 41:04Speaker 2: running game runs for two sixty six. Uh, just you know,
- 41:08Speaker 2: I'm just looking at the final statistics here. You know,
- 41:12Speaker 2: I don't know why. I think one of those might
- 41:14Speaker 2: be wrong because it's tother's net took. I would say
- 41:17Speaker 2: it was two thirty for eighty three one, so I'll
- 41:20Speaker 2: get to the bottom. Yeah, but man, it was may
- 41:23Speaker 2: adjusted nets and there maybe. Yeah, I think there were
- 41:26Speaker 2: some some different things going on in there, but we'll
- 41:28Speaker 2: get to the bottom of it. Yeah, two hundred and
- 41:30Speaker 2: thirty net yards rushing in this game. Two hundred and
- 41:33Speaker 2: fifty one net yards passing in this game. You know
- 41:36Speaker 2: that included a couple of sacks, so to sixty six
- 41:38Speaker 2: for Aaron Rodgers in the air. Just a wonderful victory
- 41:43Speaker 2: over a team. You know that, Max I still thought
- 41:47Speaker 2: going into that game. I thought, and I think others
- 41:49Speaker 2: thought the same thing. This Lions team is still a
- 41:53Speaker 2: legitimate Super Bowl contender, but I don't know if they
- 41:56Speaker 2: are anymore because they're gonna have they need almost a
- 41:59Speaker 2: mirror to make the playoffs. This is a top flight
- 42:02Speaker 2: team that had to win. We've talked about how many
- 42:05Speaker 2: opponents the students have gotten. You know you're not getting, uh,
- 42:10Speaker 2: you're not getting somebody when their starting quarterback gets knocked
- 42:12Speaker 2: out of the game, and you know you're getting everybody's
- 42:15Speaker 2: best shot. That's what they've gotten all year long, everybody
- 42:17Speaker 2: at their most desperate, everybody at their healthiest.
- 42:20Speaker 3: That's what it seems like.
- 42:21Speaker 2: They got the Lions at they're at their most desperate
- 42:24Speaker 2: in their place and handed them a second consecutive defeat.
- 42:28Speaker 3: By the way, you have to go back to twenty.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Twenty two, the last time the Lions lost back to
- 42:34Speaker 2: back games, and the Steers hung that on them and
- 42:36Speaker 2: won that game. And uh, they got some help last night,
- 42:40Speaker 2: and just uh, what a win for the students. We're
- 42:43Speaker 2: gonna get to the help lasts that we're gonna get
- 42:45Speaker 2: to the AFC recap. We're gonna get to your phone
- 42:47Speaker 2: calls coming up in just a little bit at four
- 42:50Speaker 2: point two nine nine one three one six. A little
- 42:53Speaker 2: bit later on, we'll talk about the Browns, but too
- 42:55Speaker 2: much to enjoy about this one to start thinking about
- 42:58Speaker 2: the Browns just yet. We'll have all that still coming
- 43:00Speaker 2: your way when we continue. In the Locker Room presented
- 43:02Speaker 2: by you neighborhood Ford store, the Stewards Pro Shop on
- 43:05Speaker 2: Steelers's Nation Radio, a part of the Steelers Audio Network.
