- 1:19Speaker 1: We got a special guest in here. Detroit's finest, Pyro
- 1:22Speaker 1: Giovanni is here. Yeah. Yeah, what though, what's up? Man? Welcome?
- 1:26Speaker 1: Appreciate it. Man, I just saw you in the bay Yo,
- 1:29Speaker 1: help me understand the uh what is the love relationship
- 1:33Speaker 1: between the Bay Area and Detroit. It's always been a thing. Yeah,
- 1:38Speaker 1: it's been before me, you know, it seemed like it's
- 1:40Speaker 1: been since the beginning of the time. But a lot
- 1:42Speaker 1: of Detroit dudes used to go to get money. Yeah,
- 1:46Speaker 1: so I think the lingo and the culture kind of
- 1:50Speaker 1: you know, transferred game like that. So we always been
- 1:53Speaker 1: like related, like cousins. Yeah, it feels like Detroit has
- 1:57Speaker 1: so much in common, like especially you know, like you said,
- 2:00Speaker 1: like they're just always sonically, it just feels like y'all
- 2:04Speaker 1: are in the same pocket kind of when it comes
- 2:06Speaker 1: to culture. And yeah, like I grew up on the
- 2:09Speaker 1: Street Lords. It was a big, big group in Detroit,
- 2:12Speaker 1: and they used to have like be legit two short
- 2:15Speaker 1: e forty all of them on the album. So it
- 2:17Speaker 1: was like, should we started listening to them just off
- 2:19Speaker 1: of that right right right right? So you know, and
- 2:22Speaker 1: sound sound the same. Can we talk about I don't
- 2:25Speaker 1: know if we're allowed to talk about the fact that
- 2:27Speaker 1: there's gonna be a reunion album coming? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 1: no boy cash out? So yeah, yeah, So so this
- 2:34Speaker 1: is the first album and how long or first project?
- 2:37Speaker 1: Probably about five five six years. Yeah, yeah, we're working
- 2:41Speaker 1: on it's like ninety percent done. It ain't all the
- 2:43Speaker 1: way done. What motivated You've been obviously killing it on
- 2:47Speaker 1: the solo shit, but like what motivated the crew to
- 2:50Speaker 1: come back together? Man? We always been together, like we
- 2:52Speaker 1: never broke up. Well, I mean just as far as
- 2:54Speaker 1: just making you know, like making the studio and making
- 2:57Speaker 1: that effort to like actually put a body of work together.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Like it just had to be the perfect time. I
- 3:01Speaker 1: wanted to be organic because we didn't got in there
- 3:03Speaker 1: and made music. But it just it seemed forced. I
- 3:07Speaker 1: don't know, I think everybody had to get some some
- 3:09Speaker 1: real money. It was like that's because we first started rapping,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and it was like it was a hobby. It wasn't
- 3:13Speaker 1: like we was making music to make money. It was
- 3:15Speaker 1: just like let's get on here and talk some shit.
- 3:17Speaker 1: And it was just a time where we just all
- 3:20Speaker 1: had we was all doing good. Everyone's doing good. Ye
- 3:23Speaker 1: come together, let's do Let's do it because we want to,
- 3:25Speaker 1: not because we have to, exactly, and that's the best music. Yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 1: we made a project. How does it feel to be
- 3:30Speaker 1: like you know, you you mentioned some of the guys
- 3:34Speaker 1: you grew up listening to, But how does it kind
- 3:35Speaker 1: of feel to be uh, you're kind of like low
- 3:38Speaker 1: key like OG's in the city now to like a
- 3:41Speaker 1: whole new way of a Detroit artist. Man, that's a blessing. Man,
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's an honor. You know. I remember just being young
- 3:47Speaker 1: just watching the ogs like Blade and Street Lords and
- 3:51Speaker 1: east Side Shuttle Boys, all of them on TV. Like damn,
- 3:54Speaker 1: you know, I love to be in that light day
- 3:56Speaker 1: in and for dudes to compare me to like Blade
- 4:00Speaker 1: or Street Lows, you know, that's that's an honor. That's
- 4:02Speaker 1: like the highest honor in Detroit. Yeah, Detroit seems to
- 4:05Speaker 1: be like on fire right now, you know so much.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I mean, listen, Detroit's always had it's place in hip hop.
- 4:15Speaker 1: You don't feel like, listen, I'm from Phoenix. We have
- 4:17Speaker 1: zero place in hip hop. We've never had nothing pop off.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Like it's been rough my whole life Detroit. At least,
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know, going back to the nineties, you could eat
- 4:26Speaker 1: you know, obviously there was always Royce or eminem and
- 4:29Speaker 1: then you know Dyla and you know, I feel like
- 4:32Speaker 1: even like insane clown Posse was from around Detroit, you
- 4:36Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So I feel like, y'all, I've
- 4:39Speaker 1: always had a presence in hip hop, but but I
- 4:42Speaker 1: feel like, right now it feels like a whole wave,
- 4:44Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Yeah, Detroit always just had
- 4:46Speaker 1: like a super underground scene music scene, like super artists,
- 4:52Speaker 1: that's our own heroes like this, our Tupac, this, our
- 4:55Speaker 1: Hot Boys and this and that, and it seemed like
- 4:57Speaker 1: it never got mainstream, like it just only would go
- 5:01Speaker 1: to Detroit and other Midwest cities and that was it.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And we used to be like why, like, you know,
- 5:05Speaker 1: dudes has got more money and more jury than these
- 5:08Speaker 1: rappers on TV. So it shit sound good, Like why
- 5:11Speaker 1: the fuck we don't never get there? And it used
- 5:13Speaker 1: to be like a headache, Like damn what you know?
- 5:16Speaker 1: What's crazy? Detroit and Chicago share two kind of things
- 5:19Speaker 1: in my eyes as far as like there's two sides.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I feel like to like the sonics of the city
- 5:25Speaker 1: hip hop wise, Like in Detroit there's some of the
- 5:29Speaker 1: illest boom back traditional just incredible hip hop that you
- 5:34Speaker 1: ever hear, and then there's the street side of the
- 5:35Speaker 1: hip hop scene. And I feel like Chicago's kind of
- 5:38Speaker 1: the same way, Like Chicago's the same city that birth
- 5:40Speaker 1: Chance and Kanye and Common and you know what I'm saying.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But on the other side, there's the drill shit. Like
- 5:45Speaker 1: it feels like there's two separate kind of sounds and
- 5:49Speaker 1: scenes going on in Detroit, but they do kind of,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you know, our times come together. But why is that?
- 5:55Speaker 1: I mean, because you know, Detroit is a it's a
- 5:57Speaker 1: diverse city. You got the street side and you got
- 5:59Speaker 1: like at the arts cy freestyle hip hop side. That
- 6:04Speaker 1: freestyle ship is serious out there, Like it's dudes that
- 6:07Speaker 1: go to the halls and freestyle battle and all of that,
- 6:10Speaker 1: like the ship on Black Milk or Guilty Sense. Obviously,
- 6:16Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But we all respect each other.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like it's all love. But
- 6:21Speaker 1: you know, Detroit is a it's a street orientated city.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Do you feel like Detroit
- 6:26Speaker 1: is getting better? Because I've heard that, Like the dude
- 6:28Speaker 1: the Calves is like buying up a bunch of real
- 6:30Speaker 1: estate and cleaning it up. Like and my boy lives
- 6:32Speaker 1: in Troy. He does radio in Detroit and at the Bounce.
- 6:36Speaker 1: But he's he was saying, like ever since he's been there,
- 6:38Speaker 1: he feels like the city is getting built back up,
- 6:40Speaker 1: like it's starting to look better. Like, how do you
- 6:42Speaker 1: feel about where Detroit is right now? I feel like
- 6:45Speaker 1: it's doing a lot better. I feel like, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 1: our downtown for show looked better because you like I
- 6:50Speaker 1: would hear you could buy like fucking hundred dollars houses
- 6:52Speaker 1: in the Troite or some crazy ship like that right there.
- 6:57Speaker 1: People for the low be a fixture of her. Yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 1: but you could like out forty thousand into it. You
- 7:05Speaker 1: put seventy into a house and you know you're gonna
- 7:07Speaker 1: have a nice crib. How much? Really? I heard when
- 7:10Speaker 1: we're in an empire in the Bay, I heard you mentioned, uh,
- 7:15Speaker 1: you would talk. We got a game coming out called
- 7:18Speaker 1: out of Pocket. But you you mentioned real estate? Are you?
- 7:20Speaker 1: Are you pretty tapped in on the real estate side.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I'm getting into it. Like my first experience in the
- 7:26Speaker 1: real estate it was a horror story, so I kind
- 7:28Speaker 1: of like backed away from it, Like what happened? Man?
- 7:31Speaker 1: I bought a house and uh, it was just a
- 7:33Speaker 1: raggedy ass house and it just it just went bad.
- 7:36Speaker 1: But I had got one of those houses. I had
- 7:38Speaker 1: bad intentions with it. I'm gonna put it like, oh okay, okay,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you know I had a whole plan to do with it.
- 7:43Speaker 1: It just didn't go right. So I just kind of
- 7:44Speaker 1: left it alone. You Like, Damn, I basically wasted like
- 7:47Speaker 1: ten thousand dollars on this. It could have been worse. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 1: ten granted. But my man is one of my clothes homeboys.
- 7:54Speaker 1: He like own like amner half our neighborhood. Seeing what
- 7:58Speaker 1: he be doing, I just be learning. I'm just getting
- 8:00Speaker 1: game from him. So you're starting to get into that. Yeah, Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 1: for sure, Yeah, can you take me back because I
- 8:07Speaker 1: remember when you guys signed with g Z. I was thinking, like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: because I would heard of you guys and heard some
- 8:13Speaker 1: of your stuff, I was thinking like wow, like dope,
- 8:16Speaker 1: like some of the street shot out of Detroit was
- 8:19Speaker 1: getting like a real mainstream look at the time, and
- 8:21Speaker 1: it obviously seemed like it didn't work out. It didn't
- 8:24Speaker 1: work out. You know what I'm saying, What do you
- 8:25Speaker 1: think when it went wrong with with the CTE situation,
- 8:28Speaker 1: because I want to say, you guys came into CTE
- 8:32Speaker 1: like right after Freddy Gibbs had left. Yeah, it was
- 8:38Speaker 1: like the YG dope. Yeah, so it was like around
- 8:40Speaker 1: that same era as CTE. Yeah, like what went wrong?
- 8:44Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I think we wasn't ready for real.
- 8:47Speaker 1: That was that was new to us, Like we was
- 8:49Speaker 1: used to just being independent. We really wasn't taking that
- 8:52Speaker 1: rap shit serious like that. Like we kind of stumbled
- 8:55Speaker 1: up on it like still out yeah, and we was
- 8:58Speaker 1: following our path like Okay, now we gotta do this,
- 9:01Speaker 1: do that. When we got there, it was kind of
- 9:03Speaker 1: like Okay, who is your pr who's your man? We like, shit,
- 9:06Speaker 1: we ain't got to learn that ship what is that?
- 9:08Speaker 1: What does that mean? He was learning as we were,
- 9:10Speaker 1: so you know, it was a whole type of different
- 9:13Speaker 1: experience for us. And the Detroit sound really wasn't popping
- 9:16Speaker 1: like that at the time. They kind of wanted us
- 9:18Speaker 1: on them, uh to attract ship them them trapped me
- 9:21Speaker 1: right right. That ship just sounded horrible, like it just
- 9:25Speaker 1: didn't mesh. Yeah, they like, man, it sounded like some
- 9:27Speaker 1: old cash money ship. What y'all doing? Why the beat
- 9:29Speaker 1: so fast? I ain't really understand it like that. Damn.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I feel like at the timing wasn't good. Timing just
- 9:34Speaker 1: wasn't good, not at all. I mean because the YG
- 9:37Speaker 1: thing worked out? Yea, why g shit worked out? I
- 9:39Speaker 1: watched him make that whole first album. Was that like
- 9:42Speaker 1: was there like a because I feel like there was
- 9:44Speaker 1: like a weird period of time where like there was
- 9:46Speaker 1: like all the old guys from CTE had left, like
- 9:48Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, and then you guys were
- 9:50Speaker 1: like the new regime and the old guys didn't have
- 9:53Speaker 1: good things to say about about Freddy years. Yeah that good, Yeah,
- 9:59Speaker 1: fred it was Aaron fucking jez out. Did you guys
- 10:02Speaker 1: ever feel like like you kind of had to like
- 10:05Speaker 1: have Jiz's back and a lot of that. Man. Yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 1: you know, I'm here to get my money, feed my family. Man,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I ain't. I ain't in here. It in no beefs man.
- 10:13Speaker 1: That's smart man, Yeah, that's just serious of course, of
- 10:17Speaker 1: course some music ship. I'm chilling. What was something that
- 10:21Speaker 1: you learned though from that experience or maybe from j
- 10:23Speaker 1: Z that you because you know, you've been doing independently
- 10:26Speaker 1: a lot of boss ship the last you know, seven
- 10:28Speaker 1: eight years, So like, what's something you took from that
- 10:29Speaker 1: experience or from j Z directly that you've kind of
- 10:31Speaker 1: applied to your your career now. His work ethic, like,
- 10:35Speaker 1: dude just non stop, like and that was like my
- 10:38Speaker 1: first time ever being in the studio to like seven
- 10:41Speaker 1: in the morning. Oh yeah those are them nights. Yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 1: Like I never used to do that. I come in
- 10:45Speaker 1: the studio two three hours and I'm gonna do what
- 10:47Speaker 1: you gotta do. Get home. So when I was with him,
- 10:49Speaker 1: I'm like, why are we doing this? Like we're in
- 10:51Speaker 1: studio till fucking daylight? Like I'm fucking that ship every
- 10:54Speaker 1: day and I'm like, man, this dude is a multi millionaire,
- 10:57Speaker 1: so we gotta put in double the work, right, So
- 11:00Speaker 1: I started applying that just going to the studio every day. YO.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Talk about because when was the first project when Carter
- 11:08Speaker 1: was at twenty sixteen? I want to say sixteen or fifteen.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I ain't sure what inspired you to do? Uh? First
- 11:15Speaker 1: of all, get with Cardo, and I feel like, uh,
- 11:18Speaker 1: you kind of you know, have influenced some other stuff
- 11:24Speaker 1: happening in hip hop right now. But but but I
- 11:26Speaker 1: feel like you and Cardo definitely came together and did
- 11:30Speaker 1: your thing. Man, we're both those projects. But how did
- 11:33Speaker 1: that happen? Really? Gez Geez, yeah, Gez. He had flew
- 11:39Speaker 1: me out to Atlanta and we was working on a project.
- 11:42Speaker 1: What it was going to be me Cardo and Ygi
- 11:45Speaker 1: and Gezi. It was gonna be a group. Really, it
- 11:48Speaker 1: was all Cardo produced, and we made a whole project
- 11:51Speaker 1: that was hard. So you Cardo, Ygi and Gez. Yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 1: And that was supposed to be like a super roup,
- 11:57Speaker 1: was called like Paid in Full or something like that.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And you guys did a whole project, whole project. We
- 12:01Speaker 1: had beasts from Warren g Dazz Dillinger, what DJ Quick
- 12:06Speaker 1: and Cardo did like all other beats and it was
- 12:08Speaker 1: a hard project, but for some reason it never saw
- 12:11Speaker 1: the day of light. Yeah, but that's where me and
- 12:13Speaker 1: Cardo found our niche like we found our pocket. You know,
- 12:16Speaker 1: a lot of them nights in them studios together. How
- 12:20Speaker 1: many how many songs did you guys do for that project?
- 12:22Speaker 1: I think we had about a good twelve about ten
- 12:24Speaker 1: twelve last album. Yeah, we all have solo songs and
- 12:28Speaker 1: group songs. It was hard. Damn When would that see
- 12:32Speaker 1: the day of light? If ever, I don't know who
- 12:34Speaker 1: has that jesz Jzu, it's up to him. You got
- 12:37Speaker 1: on a hard drive. It's on a hard drive just
- 12:39Speaker 1: sitting somewhere. Yeah, that shit, man classic. Wow, that sounds
- 12:43Speaker 1: like that's like one of them albums is like gonna
- 12:45Speaker 1: be focal or for now every Yeah, that shit was special.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I was excited about that. Y. Yeah, are you and
- 12:51Speaker 1: YG still keeping contact? I ain't talked to YG in
- 12:54Speaker 1: a minute, but that's you know, it's still love for show. Yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 1: A good dude. And then obviously, just like we were
- 13:01Speaker 1: talking about the scene in Detroit, Detroit seems like it's
- 13:04Speaker 1: always been like historically like super divided depending on what
- 13:07Speaker 1: side you're from, Like what side of town you're from.
- 13:11Speaker 1: There seems to be like less of that recently, like
- 13:15Speaker 1: people working together shit like that, Like is that is that?
- 13:18Speaker 1: You know obviously you and PZ got a whole album together.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Like how's the Detroit scene right now? You feel like
- 13:24Speaker 1: as far as just like the camaraderie and you know,
- 13:28Speaker 1: it feels like there's more people moving together as opposed
- 13:31Speaker 1: to I feel like it's good, Like we're in a
- 13:34Speaker 1: good space. It ain't you know, it ain't really much
- 13:36Speaker 1: beef going on, like everybody really just putting that shit
- 13:39Speaker 1: to the side and getting their money with his music
- 13:41Speaker 1: shit because that's where a bag is. And then that
- 13:43Speaker 1: big Sean Ceipher was fucking crazy, Yeah, because I don't think.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I don't because I talked to side of Baby and
- 13:51Speaker 1: he had like no idea that like T Grizzly was
- 13:53Speaker 1: going to be on there, and like, yeah, you know,
- 13:56Speaker 1: like he put just everyone. I don't think everyone did
- 13:59Speaker 1: you know that? Like I had an idea everybody you
- 14:02Speaker 1: know it's gonna be on there. But I get along
- 14:03Speaker 1: with everybody. I ain't. I ain't here. Yeah, I wasn't
- 14:06Speaker 1: like I don't put me on a song with him,
- 14:08Speaker 1: Like how big of a deal. Is that like to
- 14:10Speaker 1: have like Sean do that? You know, man Sean been
- 14:13Speaker 1: showing us love from day one of course, like when
- 14:15Speaker 1: he didn't even have to. He been shouting us out
- 14:17Speaker 1: on songs and reaching out doing songs with us. So
- 14:21Speaker 1: I got I got a lot of respect for Big Sean,
- 14:23Speaker 1: like he's been embracelests one. Remember you said it's about
- 14:26Speaker 1: time that Shawn's been popping for a long time. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:29Speaker 1: for sure, long ass time for sure. Man. It's crazy
- 14:32Speaker 1: because like I feel like his album with the Detroit
- 14:36Speaker 1: two was like it's his best, his best body of
- 14:41Speaker 1: work so far. Man Sewan cold, man, he's been cold
- 14:43Speaker 1: like that though he used to record at the studio.
- 14:45Speaker 1: He used to record it before he I think before
- 14:47Speaker 1: he signed with Kanye. Oh wow. Yeah, like he been
- 14:50Speaker 1: taking that raption seriously. Yeah, it's crazy to think his
- 14:52Speaker 1: first album came out ten years ago. He celebrated the
- 14:55Speaker 1: ten year anniversary and I just was like, fuck, I'm
- 14:57Speaker 1: old man as hell. I remember when that ship for
- 15:00Speaker 1: came out. Old is it like him and Mike posing
- 15:03Speaker 1: and running around dode mixtapes and shit, And it's crazy.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So you I know you have so that the double Cash,
- 15:11Speaker 1: that album is coming, and then you're you got a
- 15:14Speaker 1: new solo album. Yeah, working on it, which is is
- 15:17Speaker 1: how close is that to being done? About ninety ninety
- 15:21Speaker 1: five percent? Waiting on a couple verses people, and I
- 15:25Speaker 1: heard you talking about it in San Francisco. A bit
- 15:27Speaker 1: kind of breakdown, like the concept of the album, Like
- 15:30Speaker 1: it's called Giovanni's Way. It's something I've been like promoting
- 15:33Speaker 1: for like five six ers. Every time I was about
- 15:36Speaker 1: to come out with it, something else presented itself, like
- 15:38Speaker 1: Cardo or something, and I just get sidetracked. But I'm
- 15:41Speaker 1: finally about to drop it. It's basically like everything that
- 15:46Speaker 1: led me to this point. I'm basically just speaking on
- 15:48Speaker 1: all of that, all my experiences, everything, What features are
- 15:51Speaker 1: already on the project, uh t Grizzly and Pasy Cash
- 15:57Speaker 1: dolluh sh. I think that's it right now, Detroit, Yeah, Yeah,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I'm reaching out to other people too. But if you
- 16:07Speaker 1: had it for show, wanted Detroit on her be. If
- 16:10Speaker 1: you had to pick someone from the Bay to do
- 16:11Speaker 1: a whole project with, who would be somebody from the Bay. Yeah, man,
- 16:16Speaker 1: I fuck with a lot of Bay Area. I feel
- 16:17Speaker 1: like you, Larry June or Cargo, Larry Jone. You know,
- 16:21Speaker 1: we got a whole project called Game Related. I didn't
- 16:23Speaker 1: know that. Me my man's HBK Larry June, all Cardo
- 16:27Speaker 1: Beats All Cardo b We just like threw it out
- 16:30Speaker 1: there like it wasn't really promoted, none of that. Who else,
- 16:33Speaker 1: like from the bait would you kind of consider to be? Like,
- 16:36Speaker 1: you know, you're in the Bay a lot, Like, who's
- 16:37Speaker 1: somebody who you would kind of consider to be, you know,
- 16:40Speaker 1: more than a hip hop affiliate. Everyone fucks with each other,
- 16:43Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, But there's very few friends.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I fuck with a lot of dudes on the Baby
- 16:46Speaker 1: Man Filthy Rich of course, Yeah, of course, E forty
- 16:49Speaker 1: be legit, a lot of og you know og catch.
- 16:52Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I'm getting hip to the
- 16:54Speaker 1: younger dudes though. Yeah, there's a whole there's a lot
- 16:56Speaker 1: going on. Yeah, the Bay's like Detroit. I feel like
- 16:58Speaker 1: there's like so much new coming out and it's just
- 17:00Speaker 1: like I can't even keep up with it. That's how
- 17:02Speaker 1: the trade is. Like I'll be like, what is this?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Like I see everybody singing in the club. I'm like, oh,
- 17:07Speaker 1: I'm supposed to know what the shit is? Like, what
- 17:08Speaker 1: is you know? It's crazy, it's crazy. Yeah. What about like,
- 17:12Speaker 1: you know, in terms of like let's say ten years
- 17:15Speaker 1: from now, man, where do you like, like where where
- 17:18Speaker 1: do you want your legacy to stand that you still
- 17:20Speaker 1: want to be rapping? Do you still want to like
- 17:23Speaker 1: do you want to kind of have some other ship
- 17:24Speaker 1: going on at that point in time? I want to
- 17:26Speaker 1: be a CEO man, I want to just fall back,
- 17:29Speaker 1: you know, kind of play the background. Just have a
- 17:31Speaker 1: bunch of successful artists out there. So you're signing artists, Yeah, yeah,
- 17:35Speaker 1: that's most definitely like my next thing I'm about to
- 17:37Speaker 1: get into. You know who's done a good job of
- 17:40Speaker 1: that is I think that I always give got to
- 17:42Speaker 1: give him his prosper yo got yeah, so amazing. He
- 17:45Speaker 1: raised the bar like he raised the touch. It's crazy.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, And like you know, I think what's important
- 17:52Speaker 1: about that is like you got to actually want whoever
- 17:55Speaker 1: you're signing to be bigger than you. If you're going
- 17:57Speaker 1: to be an artist who signs other artists, like you
- 17:59Speaker 1: have to put your ego to the side and genuinely
- 18:02Speaker 1: want that person to be bigger than you ever were.
- 18:04Speaker 1: It make your legacy bigger, like all these people came
- 18:07Speaker 1: from up under him, Like you know, that's that make
- 18:09Speaker 1: your legacy huge, make it go forever. One hundred. Yeah.
- 18:14Speaker 1: How did you react to just the pandemic Detroit? Was
- 18:19Speaker 1: it like super close down there? Yeah, it was shut
- 18:22Speaker 1: down for a minute. It was shut down for a
- 18:24Speaker 1: long ass time. But everybody was balling. Everybody's getting money.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Everybody's getting that money. Man, it was. It was like
- 18:30Speaker 1: fucking the eighties. It was crazy that that that fucking
- 18:33Speaker 1: PPP money. Yeah boom. Yeah. I went to the uh
- 18:37Speaker 1: we got a mark called Somerset. It's like the high
- 18:39Speaker 1: end mall it was, and she was like a zoo.
- 18:42Speaker 1: It was just people in there, just fighting and shooting
- 18:45Speaker 1: and robbing. I'm like, god damn, like people in this
- 18:48Speaker 1: mall had never been in this mall in they life. Yeah. No,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I know. I have like close friends of mine who
- 18:52Speaker 1: have hit serious six figure government looks during the pandemic.
- 18:58Speaker 1: It's it's wild. Yeah, it's just you have a dude,
- 19:03Speaker 1: young dude. Put It's like tax season times one hundred.
- 19:06Speaker 1: But it's like everyone's got It's it's insane, man. Yeah,
- 19:10Speaker 1: it's like serious as hell, like I'm about to get
- 19:12Speaker 1: it for a right next week. Careful. Yeah you might
- 19:17Speaker 1: want to be careful. That might be a red flag. Yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 1: you might want to, you know, get one of them
- 19:22Speaker 1: ten thousand other houses. Yeah, yeah, no, they ain't think
- 19:24Speaker 1: about that. Yeah, it's it's wild. Yo. How how how
- 19:28Speaker 1: does like the you know, because I'm a big sports
- 19:31Speaker 1: guy and obviously there's Detroit is a big sports city,
- 19:36Speaker 1: y'all got out all the fucking teams. But how how
- 19:39Speaker 1: like how does the you know, the Pistons, Allions, Tigers
- 19:43Speaker 1: like coincide with the culture in the city, Like, because
- 19:45Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, some cities will see like
- 19:48Speaker 1: Quavo on the fucking on the hardwood at the Hawks game,
- 19:51Speaker 1: ship like that, and I feel like the Pistons are trash.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Oh I don't do it. I mean, I mean they are.
- 19:57Speaker 1: You guys got the number one pick in the draft.
- 19:58Speaker 1: That doesn't mean you're good. I mean I'm not. I'm
- 20:01Speaker 1: not a big sports dude, right, but I like support
- 20:04Speaker 1: the players, like tapping with the scene out there. Yeah yeah,
- 20:06Speaker 1: I just did something with the Pistons, just did something
- 20:08Speaker 1: with them. We're coming with some whole ship, you know,
- 20:11Speaker 1: So you did something. What are you doing with the
- 20:13Speaker 1: Pistons time? I ain't gonna really you know, I don't
- 20:15Speaker 1: think I could speak of it yet, but you know,
- 20:17Speaker 1: they come with like their own show through the years.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Was there like a player on the Pistons or the
- 20:21Speaker 1: lines that like you ended up like like really connected
- 20:23Speaker 1: with them, fucking with that. Really got to embrace what
- 20:25Speaker 1: was going on in Detroit, because I feel like the
- 20:28Speaker 1: players be on the Pistons ain't had a franchise player
- 20:31Speaker 1: in a minute, they'd be they be in there like
- 20:33Speaker 1: year two years and they out, Okay, No I ain't,
- 20:38Speaker 1: ain't I ain't connect with nobody for real. No, I'd
- 20:41Speaker 1: have ran into them here and there they show love.
- 20:45Speaker 1: It's been a while since it was Ben Wallace and
- 20:46Speaker 1: Rip Hamilton and that's actually who I ran it too.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I ran Ben Wallace at the club the leg show Love.
- 20:53Speaker 1: You know, was this recently? This is about probably about
- 20:56Speaker 1: four years ago. That's still crazy. Ben Wallace had the Love. Yeah,
- 21:01Speaker 1: that's like ye Upscale club, you know, gotta be a
- 21:04Speaker 1: nice place. Yeah. What do you think is the biggest
- 21:06Speaker 1: misconception about perro Giovanni That I'm an asshole? And I
- 21:11Speaker 1: mean because I don't talk much. Like if I don't
- 21:14Speaker 1: know you, I don't I'm not gonna talk to you.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'm not gonna introduce myself to you. That's just some
- 21:19Speaker 1: Detroit shit. Like we you know, you kind of be standoffish,
- 21:22Speaker 1: but I'm a cool you know, like back cat Man.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Is there anything that you can do to like get
- 21:28Speaker 1: you because I feel like you're super chill. Right. We
- 21:31Speaker 1: see T Grizzly doing Twitch and playing games and ship
- 21:34Speaker 1: and like we can see a whole nother like side
- 21:36Speaker 1: of Ta Grizzly that nobody ever would know existing. Is
- 21:39Speaker 1: there anything like that that you might, you know, get into,
- 21:42Speaker 1: whether it's doing some podcasts and ship or or I mean,
- 21:45Speaker 1: I'm open for it, you know, I'm over for it.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I was actually thinking about doing my own podcast or
- 21:51Speaker 1: something just to share my thoughts and things like, yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 1: that shouldn't be up. Know what I feel about this
- 21:56Speaker 1: and feel about that, But I'd be like man in
- 21:58Speaker 1: the world so sensitive get you might get canceled. They're
- 22:01Speaker 1: gonna hang you, or they're gonna love you. Hey. I
- 22:04Speaker 1: feel like Boozy is like cancel proof, you know, boot
- 22:06Speaker 1: don't give He said the most craziest ship and everyone
- 22:08Speaker 1: still loves them. Yeah, Boots don't give he don't give
- 22:10Speaker 1: a fuck manu with Boosy too. Hey. When we would
- 22:14Speaker 1: always hear, like, you know, coming up in as fans
- 22:17Speaker 1: of a hip hop like always would hear about Trick
- 22:20Speaker 1: Trick and the no flies one thing, right, and then
- 22:22Speaker 1: there's the historical instance of Ross not being allowed to perform,
- 22:28Speaker 1: which was a real thing that happened people who don't know.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I don't know the details right right, right right, but
- 22:35Speaker 1: but that that no flies on thing, like it's like
- 22:38Speaker 1: it's like almost like hip hop Folkalore where it's like
- 22:40Speaker 1: if you feel like when you go to Detroit, you
- 22:42Speaker 1: gotta check it with somebody. Is that something that's like real?
- 22:45Speaker 1: Or is it more like is it Trick Trick? Most
- 22:49Speaker 1: definitely is real? Do I know that Trick Trick is
- 22:51Speaker 1: super like? Trick Trick and Google Squad ain't dudes, ain't
- 22:55Speaker 1: for no games man, they've been they've been doing that
- 22:58Speaker 1: is the nineties. I just did a song with Trick
- 23:00Speaker 1: Trick too, that's the Trick Trick man. He just had
- 23:03Speaker 1: the hip hop uncovered on FX. He actually got a
- 23:06Speaker 1: show Sunday, big show out there in Detroit. Yeah, I'm
- 23:10Speaker 1: hoping I can make it too. That'll be big. Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I thought it was dope. They did that FX series
- 23:14Speaker 1: about Yeah, that was like fucking super dope. Yeah. Do
- 23:18Speaker 1: you think Eminem does enough for like the scene in Detroit,
- 23:22Speaker 1: like he never left, he still lives there, right, but
- 23:25Speaker 1: do you think like he's done enough like to kind
- 23:27Speaker 1: of help put on other Detroit artists. I feel like
- 23:30Speaker 1: he didn't put on some people. You know, he put
- 23:32Speaker 1: on Trick trick for real. Yeah, like you know, Proof,
- 23:36Speaker 1: Like Proof was real like street crazy, you know what
- 23:38Speaker 1: I'm saying. The Pa Boys and all that. Yeah, you know,
- 23:43Speaker 1: but you know, the street side they feel like, you know,
- 23:46Speaker 1: they don't know him and this and that. What's It's like,
- 23:49Speaker 1: I don't know many people probably on the street side
- 23:52Speaker 1: like that. I know personally that are like listening to Eminem,
- 23:56Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. A lot we grew up
- 23:57Speaker 1: listening to m though yours came like we was like
- 24:01Speaker 1: damn this hard. We was just happy it's from the
- 24:03Speaker 1: d and then him dudes new Proof and then they
- 24:05Speaker 1: did a fucking movie called A Mile, like based in
- 24:08Speaker 1: the city. You know what I'm saying that people were
- 24:10Speaker 1: just like Oh what is this? Like? It was it
- 24:12Speaker 1: accurate at all? It didn't really represent like the Detroit
- 24:16Speaker 1: I come from the trash Detroit repents, like the freestyle
- 24:20Speaker 1: battle culture. Like it's Detroited diversity, you know what I'm saying.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Like it's different, different sides of that ship. Who are
- 24:27Speaker 1: your like top two or three favorite new artists out
- 24:30Speaker 1: of Detroit that you're that you're just a fan of?
- 24:32Speaker 1: Uh new artists? Man, there's a lot of them, man,
- 24:36Speaker 1: so many of them fuck with tape. B let me
- 24:42Speaker 1: see baby money. Uh, I don't know a lot of them, man.
- 24:48Speaker 1: They like from my era. So like you mean like
- 24:50Speaker 1: new like younger, ye, just like you know, there's a
- 24:53Speaker 1: lot of new. Like we were talking about the Bay,
- 24:55Speaker 1: there's so much new ship going on. It's like it's
- 24:57Speaker 1: so many man. Yeah, I fuck with tape being your money.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'd be you know, I'll be banging that ship all right.
- 25:03Speaker 1: My producer Cook is a diehard fan. Cook. You get
- 25:07Speaker 1: one question. Appreciate that too, man, one question from the
- 25:12Speaker 1: producer Cook. Many any coming out? Yeah? Yeah, Me and
- 25:20Speaker 1: Carlo are always working, man. We were actually working on
- 25:23Speaker 1: Big Boston three. Yeah, and then so like well Big
- 25:26Speaker 1: Boss of one. You guys had to put the one
- 25:29Speaker 1: in the half of because of samples for Yeah, that's
- 25:32Speaker 1: some weird record label ship. I never even listened to
- 25:36Speaker 1: it actually, right, yeah, yeah, It's like it was cringing
- 25:42Speaker 1: for me, like why did they do this ship? But
- 25:44Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I guess it was sample reasons. You
- 25:47Speaker 1: have some You got that real fan ship to ask
- 25:51Speaker 1: one of my first songs. I appreciate that you saw

- 27:09Speaker 1: I'm working on too. Oh shit, is a Tooven coming
- 27:13Speaker 1: with a whole other bag on this ship? Like this
- 27:15Speaker 1: ship sound different? So you got four projects on them?
- 27:18Speaker 1: Like I probably got more than that for real? Any
- 27:20Speaker 1: other collab projects with any other artists, like full collab projects,
- 27:24Speaker 1: not with no artists. I got something with different producers though. Yeah,
- 27:27Speaker 1: me and Hellivan of course, me and Hellova and uh
- 27:30Speaker 1: the Olympics. Okay, yeah, of course. Yeah, Man's Knoxville is there? Uh?
- 27:35Speaker 1: You know you and PZ linked up for a project.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Is there another artist in Detroit that you would love
- 27:39Speaker 1: to do just just a full on collab album with
- 27:43Speaker 1: I'm out open to anything for real, but you me
- 27:45Speaker 1: and ps actually talking about doing another project too. You
- 27:48Speaker 1: know who's gonna I think think they're just killing shit
- 27:50Speaker 1: ever since they really went straight independent and they were
- 27:53Speaker 1: independent before. But I swear Vessel been on this ship,
- 27:56Speaker 1: like yeah, yeah, l he stayed matching on the gap.
- 27:58Speaker 1: He's been killing it. Yeah. I know he was on
- 28:01Speaker 1: that Motown situation and you know they kind of started
- 28:03Speaker 1: him out a little, but like now it's my deal situation.
- 28:07Speaker 1: He broke free and off independent straight gas. That's how
- 28:10Speaker 1: Detroit artists worked though, Like we better independent with our
- 28:13Speaker 1: own freedom. There it is, man, Look, Pero Giovanni, appreciate
- 28:16Speaker 1: you for pulling up four or five or seven albums
- 28:19Speaker 1: coming soon? Yeah, about five six of them there, movies
- 28:22Speaker 1: all that. Hopefully we hear this, yg g Z. Yeah,
- 28:26Speaker 1: we're gonna speaking into existence. Man. The next time I
- 28:28Speaker 1: eat a full album there it is perfect the show.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Appreciate you man
