- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke. I'm so
- 0:03Speaker 1: excited because today's dish looks absolutely nuts. But I am
- 0:07Speaker 1: about to get fed by the official Princess of Compton, Asia.
- 0:12Speaker 1: So what are you cooking for me today? So today
- 0:14Speaker 1: I'm going to be making a spread. Um, we got
- 0:16Speaker 1: the nacho cheese, pickles, barbecue chips, hot chips, beef jerky
- 0:20Speaker 1: and beans with chill, chilly with beans, right, tuck of
- 0:24Speaker 1: noodles and they you see what we do today. Oh
- 0:26Speaker 1: my gosh, super excited to chat down and get the chopping.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Me too. And I was looking at all these ingredients.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I wasn't too sure what to expect. I thought this
- 0:59Speaker 1: was like going to be the tastiest romen I've ever ate.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It's gonna be the tastiest from Yeah, so so far
- 1:10Speaker 1: every dish on the on these shows, I've migrated to
- 1:13Speaker 1: my midnight snacklist. So I'll gain at least ten pounds
- 1:18Speaker 1: before the end of the season. Well, I think it's
- 1:20Speaker 1: like three. Every reason you will wait, I mean mainly
- 1:25Speaker 1: this dishes from like jail. So I personally didn't make
- 1:28Speaker 1: it a journeything. But my dad, he who taught me
- 1:30Speaker 1: this because he always fed this, which I love it
- 1:34Speaker 1: as a kid. So does that mean your dad learn
- 1:37Speaker 1: this from jail and my dad, my brother, my big brother,
- 1:40Speaker 1: my uncle's or my uncles know how to make it.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Everybody got their own recipe. I put this on time.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Everybody got their own recipe. We like it like this,
- 1:48Speaker 1: but they had oysters and sardines and stuff like that. Yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the loodles like this crushed up and
- 1:55Speaker 1: just drop it in there. So this is a family tradition.
- 2:00Speaker 1: It is, unfortunately what it is. They say it's not good.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It's not a good thing to eat. Well, some people
- 2:05Speaker 1: that's been a jim you know, they don't like eating
- 2:07Speaker 1: it out. They say like it's a bad look. But
- 2:12Speaker 1: it's not. It's not a hopefully yeah, hopefully not no,
- 2:17Speaker 1: but definitely it's tasty. And as a kid, I didn't
- 2:21Speaker 1: think of it as a gim meal. The best junk
- 2:25Speaker 1: food meal on earth. What do you think it's gonna
- 2:27Speaker 1: look like like with these colors? What color do you
- 2:29Speaker 1: think it would be? I thought some of this was
- 2:33Speaker 1: like garnishes. That's definitely. I hate this since I was
- 2:39Speaker 1: like four. So does anyone do you feel like anyone
- 2:43Speaker 1: else in l A or Compton, has ever heard of
- 2:46Speaker 1: this dish? Because I know I have never heard of
- 2:48Speaker 1: you haven't heard of it. It's definitely like it's the
- 2:51Speaker 1: main thing through l A. Not even just l A
- 2:54Speaker 1: like New York, Like it's from New York and I've
- 2:57Speaker 1: that's the thing. You have to have someone that went
- 2:59Speaker 1: to jail. It's literally a jail thing. It's not even
- 3:02Speaker 1: like state and it's gonna be a jail thing. I'm
- 3:05Speaker 1: from New York, so East coast, meat West coast, everybody. Yeah, definitely,
- 3:10Speaker 1: So right now, I'm just stirring it up just to
- 3:12Speaker 1: let that water, just to loose the lot those real quick,
- 3:15Speaker 1: because you don't want them super or too soggy. So
- 3:18Speaker 1: when did you get into music? I got into music
- 3:22Speaker 1: when I was younger, but not like really like would
- 3:24Speaker 1: really makes me get into music. It's when my brother
- 3:27Speaker 1: got sentenced life. So that was about six years ago.
- 3:30Speaker 1: He got sense his life. Yeah he got out and
- 3:33Speaker 1: went back in. So he in jail right now. But
- 3:36Speaker 1: that's what made me like start dealing with music heavy
- 3:38Speaker 1: because I was able to cope with how I was
- 3:40Speaker 1: feeling that time. Um and then from their own not
- 3:43Speaker 1: just like anything I deal with. I used music to
- 3:46Speaker 1: coope with so and I end up being good at it. So, yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 1: I saw one of your I think it was a
- 3:52Speaker 1: promo for like Adidas or Footers, and you were saying
- 3:57Speaker 1: that you started with poetry. Definitely poetry. I got that
- 4:00Speaker 1: from Kanye. I used to watch the stand up like
- 4:02Speaker 1: poetry shows and Lauren Hill, and every day Kanye West
- 4:05Speaker 1: was doing poetry. He did like this poem that was
- 4:08Speaker 1: like crazy to me. Uh. I think it was one
- 4:10Speaker 1: of the stand up comedy shows at the n they
- 4:12Speaker 1: do poetry, yeah, like Deaf Jam. Yeah, I don't believe
- 4:15Speaker 1: it was Deaf Jail. And I remember Lauren Hill when
- 4:17Speaker 1: Lauren Heill went up there in Kanye. If you find
- 4:20Speaker 1: please send that to me. I'm gonna google. I did
- 4:22Speaker 1: not know Knnie did that. He had he had a
- 4:24Speaker 1: purple shirt on, some jeans and he did a poem,
- 4:27Speaker 1: like a crazy poem. So what I did was I
- 4:29Speaker 1: always used to write notes in my book and just
- 4:31Speaker 1: write how I was feeling. I was the one that
- 4:33Speaker 1: used to sing in the shower, just playing around. I
- 4:35Speaker 1: didn't know that I could actually make a song. Like
- 4:38Speaker 1: my brother went to jail. I actually made a song
- 4:40Speaker 1: like how are you like our oh wow? Yeah, and
- 4:44Speaker 1: it was like a banger like it was called the One.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It was you know, it wasn't all that, but it
- 4:48Speaker 1: was good enough for me to get some type of recognition.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So um I then I dropped a song called Time
- 4:53Speaker 1: for It. I dropped that in two thousand and seventeen,
- 4:56Speaker 1: and it blew up. It's just now really blowing up
- 4:59Speaker 1: right now to but um I dropped that October two
- 5:01Speaker 1: thousand and seventeen. Um, it's called time for It. I
- 5:05Speaker 1: had all the rappers from the city hitting me up
- 5:07Speaker 1: like Joe Loses, I had I talked to Tite Dollar
- 5:10Speaker 1: song like everybody started messing with me off that song.
- 5:13Speaker 1: It's crazy. Think in that song, you you did it
- 5:15Speaker 1: two years ago and now it's yeah, now it's catching.
- 5:19Speaker 1: You know they say a hit may take up to
- 5:21Speaker 1: four years to blow up. You got to reach all
- 5:23Speaker 1: over the world. Now do you find yourself like sick
- 5:27Speaker 1: of the song? And then they're like, I want to
- 5:29Speaker 1: record something new, and your team's like, hey, uh no,
- 5:32Speaker 1: we're going to continue to work this song. I think
- 5:35Speaker 1: my team is sick of the song too. I'm sick
- 5:36Speaker 1: of a song. I'm sick of the song. I'm so
- 5:38Speaker 1: thankful for the song. I love the song. It made
- 5:40Speaker 1: me who I am. But right now I'm at a
- 5:41Speaker 1: point where the new music I'm making is more and me.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I got to know myself way more so when I
- 5:46Speaker 1: made that song, it was in the beginning, you know,
- 5:48Speaker 1: like I'm a whole different person. I always have to
- 5:50Speaker 1: perform that song. So I'm sick of it for that reason,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but i could never stop loving it. Yeah, but I'm
- 5:56Speaker 1: thanking for the song, but I'm definitely on a new way,
- 5:59Speaker 1: Like I just I dropped the song in March called
- 6:02Speaker 1: Purple Rain, and it was so different from what I
- 6:04Speaker 1: usually do, So I think that my fans are kind
- 6:06Speaker 1: of understanding what I'm going with it. Do you feel
- 6:11Speaker 1: like pressure now following up that way? Yeah? I always
- 6:17Speaker 1: feel pressure because the way it hit, it literally didn't
- 6:20Speaker 1: happen overnight, but it hits so fast, Like everybody loved
- 6:23Speaker 1: it and everywhere I go there like can you seeing this?
- 6:25Speaker 1: And they're singing it? And like even the producers when
- 6:27Speaker 1: they send me beats, they send me beats related to
- 6:30Speaker 1: that song. You know, that's not the way I'm on
- 6:32Speaker 1: no more. But it's like it is pressure. But when
- 6:36Speaker 1: you know who you are, you comfortable, you know what
- 6:38Speaker 1: you've got in the storage, never really stressed about it.
- 6:41Speaker 1: You look extremely young. I don't know if I'm allowed
- 6:44Speaker 1: to address this. No, No, you look so young. Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I don't eat. I don't I'll never play the guests
- 6:54Speaker 1: and game. I'm gonna play it safe, especially for someone
- 6:56Speaker 1: that's cooking for me. Oh yeah, how would you think
- 7:00Speaker 1: I am. I'm not gonna say, but I'll let you think.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I'm not guessing the least skip next question? Good, no,
- 7:09Speaker 1: because it can go anywhere from like thirteen the next
- 7:14Speaker 1: time the time. Yeah, but you know what, I hate.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I hate to say what I'm about to say, but
- 7:20Speaker 1: you know, it sounds like you're you got your family
- 7:23Speaker 1: has a little background in jail, and maybe like a
- 7:26Speaker 1: thirteen year old tattoo. She didn't mean it. I didn't
- 7:32Speaker 1: mean it. Breaking. Actually, my family they rested. It was
- 7:37Speaker 1: hard for me to get this tattoo. Mama was mad,
- 7:40Speaker 1: She's like, you better making a rabbit because you got
- 7:42Speaker 1: that tattoo or Nicknall. Yeah, I can't believe you know.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I knew Kaylanni I was first started, she was signed
- 7:52Speaker 1: with Nick Cannon and I worked with him for a
- 7:55Speaker 1: long time, and she was she had to be like
- 7:58Speaker 1: sixteen seventeen and you had gotten a tattoo, I think
- 8:01Speaker 1: on her face and I remember going up to her like,
- 8:04Speaker 1: oh my god, someone's gotta save this girl. Like you know,
- 8:07Speaker 1: it was the beginning of her music crush. She was
- 8:08Speaker 1: super talented but struggling artists, and I was terrified because
- 8:13Speaker 1: she had got this visible tattoo. And I was like,
- 8:15Speaker 1: I'm going to say something, girl, what's you thinking? You
- 8:18Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. What's your thinking? What if this
- 8:20Speaker 1: music don't work out? And you know what her response
- 8:23Speaker 1: was was like I don't care. This is all I
- 8:25Speaker 1: want to do. And if I don't do this, I'll
- 8:28Speaker 1: phold T shirts at the store or whatever. And she
- 8:31Speaker 1: was so determined. It's crazy to see her blow up now.
- 8:34Speaker 1: And I think it takes that level of as an artist,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you know, like you sit back and you're watching everybody
- 8:42Speaker 1: else around you. You know, if you're gonna make it,
- 8:44Speaker 1: like you know, that's the artist that separate. Like I
- 8:47Speaker 1: remember Nify said this, the only thing that I did
- 8:50Speaker 1: was not stuck. So if you know you won't stop
- 8:54Speaker 1: that little bit of you're gonna give up, so you know,
- 8:57Speaker 1: but if you keep going at it, and that's what
- 8:59Speaker 1: she did. She went number one last year, did you Yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 1: she she had I think that went number one. I
- 9:04Speaker 1: would love to see you guys do a collapse. Oh yeah, definitely.
- 9:07Speaker 1: We talked about it. I've met Colonne Um last year.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Actually I met her. She came to one of my performances,
- 9:12Speaker 1: but unfortunately a girl had got stubbed or something and
- 9:16Speaker 1: they had to like shoot it them and were laughing.
- 9:19Speaker 1: After that we talked. Then became cool for us. I
- 9:22Speaker 1: tried to give him my video. Didn't work out with Clune. Yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 1: we're gonna have her. We have to have her come
- 9:29Speaker 1: visit the show. She definitely has had her her moments.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So what would you say is the most challenging uh
- 9:37Speaker 1: thing that you had to endure so far as an artist,
- 9:40Speaker 1: especially being female, especially going at the hip hop like,
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'm sure you had to have face some kind of uh,
- 9:46Speaker 1: you know what it is. I'm gonna keep the tra here,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna start drinking the noodles. What it is is, ah,
- 9:52Speaker 1: the comparisons I feel like as far as females, you know,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you gotta have a rapper that sounds the same as
- 9:58Speaker 1: every other rapper. But when it comes to females, I
- 10:00Speaker 1: feel like a lot of people are harder on female artists.
- 10:04Speaker 1: And that's fun. You kind of got it, but you
- 10:06Speaker 1: you gotta realize that before you come in. You know,
- 10:07Speaker 1: I didn't think it would be that hard, like, and
- 10:10Speaker 1: I feel like it's not a lot of respect um there.
- 10:13Speaker 1: But other than that, like I just had to deal
- 10:15Speaker 1: with being compared to any and every artist, Like I
- 10:19Speaker 1: got compared to them, no, no foul to them. I
- 10:22Speaker 1: love these artists. I got compared to Dash Love, which
- 10:24Speaker 1: is understandable. I got compared to Younger May Now that
- 10:28Speaker 1: part I don't get because you don't seem to like
- 10:29Speaker 1: but I love Younger. Maybe it's like everywhere I turned,
- 10:32Speaker 1: I was getting compared you know to this person that person,
- 10:36Speaker 1: So you have like their fans won't even give you
- 10:38Speaker 1: a chance because they'll think you're a knock off, you
- 10:40Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But as time goes, I'm actually
- 10:44Speaker 1: like getting over that part. I haven't heard something like
- 10:46Speaker 1: that love probably like a year. So that means, you know,
- 10:49Speaker 1: I'm just coping it to my own But other than that.
- 10:53Speaker 1: It's that, and then it's just the industry is like
- 10:57Speaker 1: high school like politics, and you know, you just gotta
- 10:59Speaker 1: be conscious of the type of people you have around you.
- 11:04Speaker 1: That's the main thing. Be cautious of the people you
- 11:06Speaker 1: haven't around you. I see your crew, it seems like
- 11:09Speaker 1: they all are very tight now. Even when I was
- 11:13Speaker 1: calling in to be like what dish, it was like
- 11:15Speaker 1: immediate response. I'm like, did did they even talk to
- 11:18Speaker 1: her about the dish? Like how did they know? You know,
- 11:21Speaker 1: my dad is one of my men and my managers
- 11:23Speaker 1: and family they'll be. He's like family to me too.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I've been for a while now and we always have
- 11:29Speaker 1: like a brother and sister bomb, you know. So it
- 11:32Speaker 1: makes it even better that he's a part of the
- 11:33Speaker 1: team now and everybody else it's like, really my family.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Like my aunt is my hair stylus, so she travels
- 11:39Speaker 1: with us. My mom is like the road manager, oh night,
- 11:42Speaker 1: So it's like a family. Yeah. But before we had
- 11:45Speaker 1: people coming around trying to get in because the song
- 11:47Speaker 1: was hot, and they come in and we let some
- 11:50Speaker 1: people in that shouldn't been in, and you know that,
- 11:53Speaker 1: you you live and you learn though, so se drain
- 11:56Speaker 1: and needs. So do you look at it only from
- 12:01Speaker 1: a creative side or do you look at it from
- 12:03Speaker 1: a business side? I look at it from a business side.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I'm really like heads on with the business. Like I
- 12:09Speaker 1: like to look over paperwork. I like to be the
- 12:11Speaker 1: one talking to my little year, like, um, I look
- 12:14Speaker 1: at it as both. You know, So the business side,
- 12:16Speaker 1: that's the same thing. It's just the politics. You gotta
- 12:18Speaker 1: be on top of your game at all times because
- 12:20Speaker 1: a lot of these artists they don't pay attention to
- 12:22Speaker 1: what's going on around them or what's going on at paperwork.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I need to know because it's been so many times
- 12:27Speaker 1: where I almost made the real move. Yeah, but I
- 12:30Speaker 1: have my family to step in, Like Va was there.
- 12:33Speaker 1: What would you say in your career so far was
- 12:35Speaker 1: a definite like wrong move? Are you able to share it? Yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 1: you don't have to name drop. But it's just people
- 12:45Speaker 1: that want to come in and manage you. Yeah, and
- 12:48Speaker 1: they don't have the right intentions. People that come in,
- 12:50Speaker 1: they just want to take off the relationships you have.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So you might have somebody that want to come in
- 12:54Speaker 1: and manage you and then it's like okay, yeah, because
- 12:56Speaker 1: she's popular right now, but they're not really doing their job.
- 12:59Speaker 1: They're just trying to help to everybody, you know, come
- 13:01Speaker 1: back for their whole benefit. I have that issue. That's
- 13:03Speaker 1: like the main thing with this industry. Other than that,
- 13:06Speaker 1: there hasn't been no crazy issues for me yet. Again,
- 13:10Speaker 1: do you feel like any of your friends have switched up?
- 13:12Speaker 1: Because I know some people where their friends get a
- 13:15Speaker 1: little uncomfortable, they're like, oh, well you're blowing up. So
- 13:18Speaker 1: I don't even feel like I don't feel secure enough
- 13:22Speaker 1: to reach out. You have that, and then you have
- 13:24Speaker 1: the other extreme. It's definitely like, say, this family, Like
- 13:29Speaker 1: I said, my family is close to me, but it's
- 13:31Speaker 1: the family that I grew up with that I've dealt
- 13:33Speaker 1: with all my life, who switched up all behind the
- 13:36Speaker 1: music scene just because of the music, you know. So
- 13:39Speaker 1: I'm talking about family that's like your best friends growing
- 13:42Speaker 1: up and then now I don't even talk to him
- 13:44Speaker 1: it's been like four years. Yeah, yeah, so those are
- 13:46Speaker 1: type of issues. Definitely. Yeah, I see a plastic bag
- 13:50Speaker 1: coming out everybody. She just pulled out a plastic bag.
- 13:53Speaker 1: So this is a real Yes, Okay, what's going on here?
- 13:57Speaker 1: We're gonna do this. Let's actually all that this kind
- 14:00Speaker 1: of it's kind of hot. So what I'm gonna do
- 14:03Speaker 1: right now, actually, since you don't have an extra bag,
- 14:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna just crush this up. You want to crush
- 14:08Speaker 1: everything up when we get this bag out the way, Okay,
- 14:12Speaker 1: all right, so we just want to crushure every pure good.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I should have brought a thunder on this episode. I
- 14:18Speaker 1: got a crush the chips up. So typically, if you
- 14:21Speaker 1: were in jail, this would be in a plastic bag
- 14:23Speaker 1: and you just break it up. And they put it
- 14:25Speaker 1: in the bag and just break it up. You didn't
- 14:27Speaker 1: want to just use your bag? Might as well. I mean,
- 14:31Speaker 1: don't worry. We're not jumping over here. We're not judging
- 14:34Speaker 1: at all. I could put the chips with the beet
- 14:37Speaker 1: jerk I gotta pull apart, non think pieces of beat
- 14:40Speaker 1: jerky either, and the beans I'll do least. Let me
- 14:42Speaker 1: get the chip. I wasn't too sure if you were
- 14:44Speaker 1: cooking the beans with a nacho or no. Well, yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 1: they're gonna make sense. So I've never been so excited
- 14:54Speaker 1: and intry. It's so good. What's your favorite this? I'm
- 14:58Speaker 1: Jamaican oxtail and then second New York Chinese okay, but
- 15:04Speaker 1: not l a Chinese. I never had no other Chinese,
- 15:07Speaker 1: but Chinese. Ill here is terrible. It's horrible. And the
- 15:10Speaker 1: pizza okay, okay, yeah you know New York, I got
- 15:13Speaker 1: pizza every block. Yeah. The dollar slices don't really count,
- 15:18Speaker 1: those aren't Those aren't good representations, but they come in
- 15:22Speaker 1: Andy when you only have a dollar. Let me ask
- 15:24Speaker 1: you a question, what about how was it? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 1: it's well, that's an easy well after COVID, Yeah, I
- 15:35Speaker 1: want to go. I watched a lot the TV. So
- 15:36Speaker 1: my favorite movie is Crookly. I don't think I've ever
- 15:40Speaker 1: seen likely. Okay, I gotta stop speaking on this because
- 15:44Speaker 1: people are gonna judge me. I'm gonna get fired before
- 15:47Speaker 1: I get hired. It's slightly Crookly, based about the kids
- 15:51Speaker 1: in Brutly watching when you get the chest? So are
- 15:54Speaker 1: you mixed? R? Yeah? My mom is creole. She has
- 15:58Speaker 1: other things in there, you know, like Creo was just
- 16:00Speaker 1: a bunch of yeh, mixed stuff so French. Oh no,
- 16:06Speaker 1: but Manna did and someone uncle's do. They told me
- 16:09Speaker 1: a few things, but I don't really. I was gonna say,
- 16:11Speaker 1: if your mom gets upset, she doesn't break it out.
- 16:15Speaker 1: My MoMA knows that's what would come out real quick
- 16:17Speaker 1: when she was about to beat you. I forgot what
- 16:19Speaker 1: my nana used to say. She used to get nadyat
- 16:21Speaker 1: her water or anything. But yeah, they're from fit Let's
- 16:25Speaker 1: looks fit La. We got land up there too, all right,
- 16:47Speaker 1: that looks nice and red. Yeah, so you know what
- 16:53Speaker 1: I might as well? Little's that here now? So what
- 16:57Speaker 1: are your aspirations for your next thing? Are? You haven't
- 17:00Speaker 1: released a full album yet. I've released, uh, you can
- 17:05Speaker 1: call it the album rand I just released it ilpie me.
- 17:09Speaker 1: So okay, so you're pouring the noodles in here. Okay,
- 17:14Speaker 1: that's officially just got crazy. Everybody's about to get crazy.
- 17:17Speaker 1: You just poured the noodles in the plastic bag with
- 17:20Speaker 1: the chips in this bag, it's staying to something gotta
- 17:23Speaker 1: be carried. I hope the cameras above and every I
- 17:29Speaker 1: wish y'all can see this. Yeah, it's like chips right now.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I mean, this definitely looks like something you would create
- 17:38Speaker 1: in jail. Yeah, it's like you don't need too much
- 17:41Speaker 1: to make this. No, so what's the you guys don't
- 17:44Speaker 1: use the chicken packets the seasoning packets. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 17:48Speaker 1: throw that in there, but you don't use it like
- 17:49Speaker 1: how you would with noodles. So why why the bag
- 17:54Speaker 1: and not just mix it all in the pot. You
- 17:56Speaker 1: gotta mix all the flavors and there its better with
- 17:59Speaker 1: the bags. You can tell a word too, not the pot,
- 18:01Speaker 1: just like tell where you gotta shake it up. Really,
- 18:03Speaker 1: guess when was the last time you ate thistlea? Probably
- 18:07Speaker 1: like I eat this probably like every two weeks. What
- 18:11Speaker 1: But that's because that wait, this is a meal by
- 18:15Speaker 1: choice because it's so good, not a budget meal, right,
- 18:19Speaker 1: because it's so good. But you know, I posted on
- 18:21Speaker 1: Twitter and they chewing me up. There was like why
- 18:23Speaker 1: are you eating you at jail? Are you serious? As
- 18:27Speaker 1: funny though? So your brother who's in jail now, yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 1: he's in jail though, how type of stuff? How often
- 18:38Speaker 1: are you talking to him and seeing him? Um Man,
- 18:42Speaker 1: we've been getting into a lady. I don't capt, so
- 18:44Speaker 1: we're gonna kept about me and him been getting into
- 18:46Speaker 1: a lady. You know, my brother is just like Mesa.
- 18:48Speaker 1: We have rebumpads. But we'll start talking like mm hmm
- 18:53Speaker 1: if we get into talk, probably like two months. But
- 18:56Speaker 1: I always I make sure he's straight. I don't like
- 18:58Speaker 1: just leave him head. He's good though, if you ever
- 19:01Speaker 1: needed something, you know, yeah, you know, you look like
- 19:04Speaker 1: he's good. Do you feel like you in third being
- 19:07Speaker 1: broke or do you feel like you just kind of
- 19:10Speaker 1: just grew up in a household that's culturally enriched in um.
- 19:15Speaker 1: You know, my mom always kept me well fit, well dressed.
- 19:18Speaker 1: But you know, we experienced broke times. But at the
- 19:21Speaker 1: same time, my mom and my dad they both like
- 19:25Speaker 1: kept a roof over us, like it wasn't like homeless
- 19:28Speaker 1: or don't like that. But we experienced till times where
- 19:30Speaker 1: you know, like my mom was just telling me, like,
- 19:33Speaker 1: y'all sometimes I feel like y'all spoiled these days kids,
- 19:35Speaker 1: But y'all don't know how it is or you don't
- 19:37Speaker 1: know what you don't eat. But we never knew because
- 19:39Speaker 1: the hype that from. You know, do you think growing
- 19:42Speaker 1: up in the hood or where everyone in the neighborhoods
- 19:45Speaker 1: on the same budget, it's like you don't even notice
- 19:47Speaker 1: stature broke because it's like everybody's eating. Nobody's coming home
- 19:51Speaker 1: eating a lobster, so you don't really know. Yeah, that's
- 19:53Speaker 1: a that's a fact. Like where I grew up in
- 19:55Speaker 1: the woman to norms, everybody we all had the same
- 19:57Speaker 1: a mental things. But if you leap outside to use
- 20:00Speaker 1: gates these projects, you see fast cars and we're not
- 20:03Speaker 1: chipping up that because where we are we don't see
- 20:05Speaker 1: that day to day. So like growing up, I thought
- 20:08Speaker 1: my dad was rich just because he always had him up,
- 20:11Speaker 1: but it's always old. Course was a him an old
- 20:12Speaker 1: car he cooked up, but he wasn't rich. I didn't
- 20:16Speaker 1: know I was broken till last started. What do you
- 20:20Speaker 1: mean by that? Like, you know, you've gotta have the
- 20:22Speaker 1: chains and everything, and sometimes it's hard to keep up
- 20:25Speaker 1: when you you know, you didn't grow up with that. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 20:33Speaker 1: this looks like uh, some animals or something. And I
- 20:38Speaker 1: just saw the Reverend last night, so this sucks like
- 20:40Speaker 1: an animal. I don't say it looked like that. I
- 20:43Speaker 1: shouldn't have said like this. Oh my gosh, that's we
- 20:49Speaker 1: needed more chips. But that's fine because we got the
- 20:52Speaker 1: cheese alright, So here's the cheese, right, Yeah, we'll put
- 20:56Speaker 1: it in there. Let's put a lot of cheese. Oh
- 20:58Speaker 1: my goodness, you like cheese? Yeah? I love cheese. Making
- 21:01Speaker 1: sure I can't believe how gore mate this this really
- 21:07Speaker 1: is Honestly, you just keep mixing it up. Yeah, next time,
- 21:16Speaker 1: how LB we need a lot of sandwich bags because
- 21:18Speaker 1: back this bag is gonna burst. Now I'm gonna make
- 21:21Speaker 1: sure you're doing really Look there's it's just we almost
- 21:26Speaker 1: then listen, I'll put it in there mixing. So if
- 21:30Speaker 1: your inspiration for your music originally started with your brother
- 21:36Speaker 1: going to jail, where do you see your inspiration coming
- 21:41Speaker 1: from now that? Yeah, Like my music don't just be
- 21:45Speaker 1: based off is based off a lot of things experience,
- 21:48Speaker 1: like especially like how my family did me. Like I
- 21:51Speaker 1: told you when the music started going, like the separation
- 21:54Speaker 1: with that relationship stuff, you know, like do you feel
- 21:57Speaker 1: like family was like supporting you or eat it? I'm
- 22:01Speaker 1: feel like they were saying. I feel like they was
- 22:03Speaker 1: because it was another rapper that they decided to that
- 22:07Speaker 1: wasn't the family that they decided to rock me. I
- 22:09Speaker 1: felt like it was. But they didn't know like that,
- 22:11Speaker 1: you know, they didn't know this rapper like that, but
- 22:13Speaker 1: you just came around they decided to run with it.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Was never no support and my big brother, he he
- 22:20Speaker 1: agreed with me all that, you know, like, I don't
- 22:23Speaker 1: support my sister. Yeah, let's probably put this this actual
- 22:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna put it in here, man. Yeah, this thish
- 22:30Speaker 1: by far takes the cake as the I don't I
- 22:36Speaker 1: don't know if anyone's gonna be able to top this dish.
- 22:38Speaker 1: To be brutally honest, you ask any other repper that
- 22:41Speaker 1: really came from the trenches and everything. I guarantee you
- 22:45Speaker 1: they know about this. I worked up with this, but
- 22:52Speaker 1: you could just put it in one of these Yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Um this this, this makes me want to reach from
- 22:58Speaker 1: my iPhone and just snap pictures because I've never seen
- 23:03Speaker 1: anything like this. It looks good, but it also looks
- 23:08Speaker 1: bad at the same time. You're gonna hear that it's
- 23:11Speaker 1: definitely ugly. But trust me, yeah it looks and you
- 23:17Speaker 1: eat this once all the time. That's why I gained weight.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I was one eighteen m one thirty plus. They're gonna say,
- 23:26Speaker 1: yeah that, Well, have you ever made this for a girlfriend? Boyfriend? Um,
- 23:33Speaker 1: my girlfriend don't eat meat, so you didn't do that.
- 23:38Speaker 1: She dates. Yeah, like, I'll order the burger and you
- 23:41Speaker 1: can have the fries. I'll get a steaks she can sell.
- 23:45Speaker 1: It's perfect. That's a perfect I need one of those. No,
- 23:51Speaker 1: she don't eat no meat, no seafood. She's a real
- 23:54Speaker 1: animal looker. So what other collaborations have you done, like
- 23:59Speaker 1: on the I guess business side. Oh, working with young
- 24:05Speaker 1: Blue Lucci. I'm trying to drift off to the artist
- 24:09Speaker 1: that's outside of one. So like ty dollars and I
- 24:13Speaker 1: got two songs with tight dollars on it. But he's
- 24:15Speaker 1: someone here, but I got two songs for him. Ummm,
- 24:19Speaker 1: don't try to think of who else. I can't say who.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I want to say, but I can't say. Shout out
- 24:23Speaker 1: to Koresma. She got me a big feature too. She's
- 24:29Speaker 1: really sweet. You gotta thank her for a lot. She
- 24:31Speaker 1: put me a lot. So we almost Yeah, I can't.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I can't wait. Let's let's get this dish crack. Let's
- 24:37Speaker 1: get these pickles. Let's sit there. I mean you your
- 24:43Speaker 1: kitchen when you're cooking, does it look crazy? Yeah? D
- 24:49Speaker 1: I feel like this whole table is about to look crazy.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Get these picturkeys. So what can your fans expect in
- 24:59Speaker 1: the Yeah, a lot of music this year. Like last year,
- 25:04Speaker 1: I always dropped like one project and go goes because
- 25:07Speaker 1: I was having issues when I said behind the scenes
- 25:10Speaker 1: getting my team together. But this year we altogether be ready.
- 25:12Speaker 1: So I think I'm gonna drop two projects, two projects
- 25:15Speaker 1: as a single, as an LPs, like ten like ten songs, projects, mixtapes,
- 25:22Speaker 1: a lot of singles. Yeah, I'm gonna just stay consistent
- 25:25Speaker 1: the whole year. But now, don't you have to stay
- 25:28Speaker 1: consistent in working one single to get into poper is it?
- 25:31Speaker 1: Just like? Yeah, I always drop one single like something
- 25:34Speaker 1: I feel like it's a banger, like Purple Rain I
- 25:37Speaker 1: dropped at of March that went crazy. I got a
- 25:39Speaker 1: hundred thousand streams the first week. So now on the
- 25:44Speaker 1: business side of things, when you're releasing an album, like,
- 25:47Speaker 1: do you make money off the music or do you
- 25:49Speaker 1: just make money off of Yeah, because I'm independent, but
- 25:52Speaker 1: I got a distribution with Empire, but I'm independent, so
- 25:55Speaker 1: I still own my masters. So like if I do
- 25:58Speaker 1: a song, if I drop a song, I get paid
- 26:00Speaker 1: off of it. Now, in today's world, just to break
- 26:03Speaker 1: down distribution for artists on the rise, what do you
- 26:06Speaker 1: exactly need distribution for in a digital age? And this
- 26:10Speaker 1: is a serious I have no idea question, Okay, seriously,
- 26:13Speaker 1: um the distribution. So basically, Woul imper a different me.
- 26:16Speaker 1: They distribute the distribute music everywhere Spotify, Amazon. You know,
- 26:21Speaker 1: you could do it yourself, but sometimes it gets a
- 26:24Speaker 1: little hard because they might take it down if you
- 26:26Speaker 1: don't do it the proper way. Spotify to people use
- 26:30Speaker 1: tune core to distribute their music of Spotify, Apple, Amazon,
- 26:36Speaker 1: they distribute your videos. They help you. Also, they give
- 26:39Speaker 1: you like a marketing budget, so they'll give you money
- 26:41Speaker 1: to help market yourself. So it's like a record label.
- 26:44Speaker 1: It's it's like it's definitely especially they're giving a marketing budget.
- 26:47Speaker 1: They just take their percentag job, which is always a
- 26:49Speaker 1: short amount, or for me it is. They take their
- 26:52Speaker 1: percentage job and then it's still on the masters. That's
- 26:57Speaker 1: one thing I don't think artist should do these days.
- 26:58Speaker 1: A sign these big little deals where you get three
- 27:01Speaker 1: hundred four hundred thousand, but you don't own your masters,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and then that's all you get. You're not gonna see
- 27:07Speaker 1: anything else. See with me and Empire, I dropped my project.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I get my whatever little male from them, but I
- 27:13Speaker 1: don't get too much where I got the exactly and
- 27:17Speaker 1: I still see revenue from my music. So how did
- 27:21Speaker 1: it feel seeing billboards in Compton that was the best
- 27:24Speaker 1: thing game. But I think I Joe pass it, but
- 27:26Speaker 1: it was the best thing about it. My exit just
- 27:29Speaker 1: did me dirty, right, I'm gonna keep going. I'm so sorry, day,
- 27:35Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I got to tell the story. My eggs
- 27:37Speaker 1: did me dirty, right, like real dirty. It was together
- 27:40Speaker 1: like the years, and she had to see that billboard
- 27:43Speaker 1: every day. That's hilarious after we broke up. Like you
- 27:46Speaker 1: don't think she tried to drive around it. She came.
- 27:49Speaker 1: It was on a freeway after he broke up. I'll
- 27:52Speaker 1: start watching that career started. Yeah, yeah, So she has
- 27:56Speaker 1: to see all types of stuff at that time, and
- 27:58Speaker 1: that bill Burt was one of them. I had to
- 28:00Speaker 1: so I had one the company and I had one
- 28:02Speaker 1: in the south Gate. I think do you think the
- 28:06Speaker 1: breakup gave you either free time to focus or do
- 28:10Speaker 1: you think that sometimes people's energy being removed can just
- 28:15Speaker 1: pave a grade all the above? Uh? After I got out,
- 28:20Speaker 1: after I got off that situation, I just bloomed into
- 28:23Speaker 1: a whole different person. And then also it gave me
- 28:25Speaker 1: a draw like I was hurting, so that hurt turned
- 28:29Speaker 1: into a hustle for me. So I'm doing that. I'm
- 28:33Speaker 1: not sleeping. I'm at the studio because you're already dealing
- 28:35Speaker 1: with what's going on. Why not deal with it in
- 28:37Speaker 1: a better way. You already can't sleep because you heard
- 28:40Speaker 1: I can't sleep, but the studio. Yeah, yeah, so that
- 28:43Speaker 1: was there ever a point in your career where you
- 28:46Speaker 1: were like, I think I'm gonna quit. Yeah, because of
- 28:50Speaker 1: the whole thing with the family not supporting you know,
- 28:54Speaker 1: that bothered me because I was seeing what they were
- 28:55Speaker 1: doing for the other arts, like wearing T shirts with spaces,
- 28:59Speaker 1: and it's like him like, yeah, but I'm pumping on
- 29:02Speaker 1: my ya. It's like, so what that bothering me? Knew
- 29:05Speaker 1: it was? To a poem, was like, okay, because at
- 29:07Speaker 1: the time, I feel like I don't have nobody like
- 29:08Speaker 1: I always had my mom, always had my dad. But
- 29:10Speaker 1: I feel like I don't have nobody still compared to
- 29:13Speaker 1: if it's in your face you yeah, of course, you
- 29:15Speaker 1: got twenty family members surrounding this one person, and you
- 29:18Speaker 1: got your households, and you still feel like but especially
- 29:23Speaker 1: when you think about parents, you kind of innately think, Okay,
- 29:26Speaker 1: they're always gonna be there, so you don't help them
- 29:28Speaker 1: as a cheerleader. Then when you get older, you're like,
- 29:30Speaker 1: oh my gosh, I wouldn't know how to survive without you, guys.
- 29:33Speaker 1: But my family something special, like for real to people,
- 29:36Speaker 1: I got in my corner right now and they've been
- 29:37Speaker 1: with me through the whole journey. And like my mom,
- 29:41Speaker 1: like every time I have these situations, but for like
- 29:43Speaker 1: giving up. Oh every time, I all like I'm getting up,
- 29:49Speaker 1: giving up. She come to me with this long speech.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Hit it on the nose all the time. My mom
- 29:54Speaker 1: was like that person you go to she always has
- 29:57Speaker 1: something like something to say that makes you feel better
- 30:01Speaker 1: and not she'll tell you about your bull crap, but
- 30:03Speaker 1: it's like she's genuine telling the truth. I really wish
- 30:06Speaker 1: we could take a picture of this dish. This dish
- 30:09Speaker 1: looks so good and colorful. Uh, And usually I would
- 30:17Speaker 1: have my phone on me, but this sucks because it's
- 30:20Speaker 1: a beautiful dish. Everyone should watch the video of this interview.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Yeah, you need a cooking show. This
- 30:29Speaker 1: is what I want to be. Oh, you're gonna mix
- 30:32Speaker 1: it in. It looks so pretty in I want to
- 30:35Speaker 1: mix in the bad the bag and look at that.
- 30:38Speaker 1: That is absolutely amazing, full of color, full of flavor.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I've almost starved to death while she made it. I'm sorry.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. So I'm hoping that I could taste
- 30:51Speaker 1: all the cheese, the meat. There's meat in here, right,
- 30:55Speaker 1: chi and yeah, hooked me up. We're gonna take a
- 31:01Speaker 1: bite at the same time. I want you to. I
- 31:04Speaker 1: don't want you to think it's nasty. If you think
- 31:05Speaker 1: it's nasty, just oh, you'll see it on my face
- 31:08Speaker 1: because my face scrunches up really bad. I've tried to
- 31:13Speaker 1: make it through interviews and and be like this is good,
- 31:15Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden I'll bite into something.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I'll be like, oh no, this is this is alright?
- 31:22Speaker 1: Here we go chairs, chairs, all right? See? Does it salty?
- 31:41Speaker 1: But I love the crunch. This tastes like chef for
- 31:44Speaker 1: I d with crunch. That's how I'm trying to describe
- 31:50Speaker 1: it to every every listener out there. But this is
- 31:53Speaker 1: like every for lack of better word, this is like
- 31:56Speaker 1: every fat king stream man. Right. I don't even smoke
- 32:01Speaker 1: no more, but the smokers I know they love this.
- 32:04Speaker 1: How it was a leak, I didn't see why. So
- 32:07Speaker 1: did you get the nickname Princess of Compton from Hilario?
- 32:12Speaker 1: I could see from this meal alone. Why with your personality? Oh,
- 32:18Speaker 1: thank you appreciating your music. Thank you you are a
- 32:22Speaker 1: deadly forced I'm really really looking forward to the future.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Yeah, listen to your music and I
- 32:30Speaker 1: was like, yeah, we definitely want we want to have it.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I appreciate you, but haveing me. I always want to
- 32:34Speaker 1: do something like this. Side note. It's way better when
- 32:39Speaker 1: the cheese is super hut. But it's good though, And
- 32:42Speaker 1: my question is unch up everyone. That was good. So
- 32:46Speaker 1: many flavors going on, so spicy too. It's a spicy jerky.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It's a lot of flavor. Asia. Thank you so much
- 32:54Speaker 1: for coming to the studio and making this amazing gourmet
- 32:58Speaker 1: homemade spread. Thank you. I'm glad you like it. Thank
- 33:01Speaker 1: you for having Yes. The family tradition has definitely been
- 33:04Speaker 1: passed on from your family. Now to everybody who listens
