- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, Lisa Fox here, I want to share a little
- 0:02Speaker 1: story about my doctors and what they're doing to help
- 0:04Speaker 1: people twenty four to seven at Cedars Sinai. They're also
- 0:08Speaker 1: a nonprofit academic healthcare system serving the LA County.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Region and another community is.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Globally, they maintained highest standards for quality and innovation in
- 0:17Speaker 1: patient care, pioneering medical research, education programs, and wide ranging
- 0:21Speaker 1: community benefit programs too. They do a lot, and I'm
- 0:24Speaker 1: just grateful to have on doctor Violet Gray from Cedars
- 0:27Speaker 1: on to share my story of thanks.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Thanks so much for having us so. I heard you
- 0:31Speaker 3: had a good experience on CS connect.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I recently had a fantastic telehealth experience that totally saved me.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I want to thank Theesar Sinai. I've been going to
- 0:41Speaker 1: Cedar Sinai Hospital using THEES Sinai doctors since the nineties. Now,
- 0:46Speaker 1: oh nice, I want to thank you guys for helping
- 0:49Speaker 1: patients virtually after hours and on the weekends. So when
- 0:52Speaker 1: I got super sick a few weeks ago, I was
- 0:55Speaker 1: just like my throat was literally blown out. I was
- 0:57Speaker 1: coughing up all night. I didn't sleep, I was just dying.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm like I had already been sick the whole week,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and then on the weekend it just blew up and
- 1:06Speaker 1: went next level. Sunday Sunday morning, what do I do?
- 1:10Speaker 1: And then light bulb went off my head. I'm like, oh,
- 1:12Speaker 1: oh wait, Theedesar SINAI has a Sedesar SIGNI connect app
- 1:16Speaker 1: that I can find a doctor right now, early on
- 1:20Speaker 1: a Sunday morning, So I downloaded the app, I filled
- 1:22Speaker 1: out all my information and was able to get a
- 1:25Speaker 1: doctor on with me. Granted she was in New York,
- 1:27Speaker 1: New York time.
- 1:28Speaker 2: God bless her.
- 1:29Speaker 1: She was a sweetheart at five am on a Sunday
- 1:33Speaker 1: and spent some time. She helped diagnose my situation, called
- 1:37Speaker 1: in some antibiotics and this crazy great prescription cough medicine.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I was able to go right to my CVS pharmacy
- 1:44Speaker 1: at nine am when they opened, got my meds, slept
- 1:48Speaker 1: all day Sunday, all day Monday, and just was so
- 1:51Speaker 1: much better and just grateful, grateful, grateful.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So yeah, oh.
- 1:56Speaker 3: That's just sweet. Well, I'm glad it worked out well,
- 1:58Speaker 3: But I.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Mean, what's so great is this is what's happening now,
- 2:01Speaker 1: this is what you do. Now, you make it easier
- 2:03Speaker 1: for people to get care faster by doing it virtually,
- 2:07Speaker 1: which I just wanted more people to know that we
- 2:08Speaker 1: can do that during the day for normal medical appointments,
- 2:11Speaker 1: but also after hours for more urgent situations, after hours
- 2:15Speaker 1: and weekends and at all kinds of crazy times. But
- 2:19Speaker 1: this virtual help is available. And doctor red you do
- 2:21Speaker 1: in person and virtual appointments, right.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I do both. So I have a practice at
- 2:26Speaker 3: Theater Sign I've been with them for twenty years and
- 2:28Speaker 3: now I'm the associate medical director for cs connect. Great,
- 2:33Speaker 3: I work with the cs connect doctors. I see patients
- 2:36Speaker 3: virtually too. You know, you don't need to download the app.
- 2:39Speaker 3: You can do it online just on the web. Oh great,
- 2:42Speaker 3: you search for a cs connect okay, and it'll take you.
- 2:46Speaker 3: There's like a little button just start a virtual visit
- 2:48Speaker 3: and you can just start on the web. It's really
- 2:51Speaker 3: easy and just and so give me for.
- 2:53Speaker 1: People who you know, sorry, we don't always get sick
- 2:55Speaker 1: during nine to five. And then it's you know, it's
- 2:57Speaker 1: just almost easier to see a doctor fast sure with
- 3:00Speaker 1: these virtual appointments.
- 3:01Speaker 3: It really is. And it's twenty four hours a day.
- 3:04Speaker 3: We're open on holidays, so great. So it's something and
- 3:07Speaker 3: you think, you know what, I don't need to go in.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Nobody needs to see what's happening. Really, they just need
- 3:12Speaker 3: to talk to me and see my face on the video.
- 3:15Speaker 3: It's so convenient. We really try to meet people where
- 3:18Speaker 3: they are, and you know, when when you're busy and
- 3:21Speaker 3: you have other things going on in life, sometimes you
- 3:23Speaker 3: just need to have a quick video visit and take
- 3:26Speaker 3: care of what you need do. Kind of urgent care stuff,
- 3:29Speaker 3: so if you're sick or you need something quick, but
- 3:32Speaker 3: also like primary care, like general medicine stuff as well, so.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Great for just getting regular medical stuff done, saying appointments,
- 3:39Speaker 1: making appointments, getting medications and whatnot.
- 3:42Speaker 2: But also especially a lifesaver, not for emergency situations, but
- 3:46Speaker 2: for urgent care situations.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Urgent care type stuff, but also general medicine stuff. So
- 3:52Speaker 3: like if you have a chronic problem and you need
- 3:55Speaker 3: a medication refilled, or you need to talk about a
- 3:58Speaker 3: medical condition that you have that you need guidance on,
- 4:01Speaker 3: you can talk to a doctor. It's like right at
- 4:03Speaker 3: the tip of your fingers and they are, like you said,
- 4:06Speaker 3: twenty four hours a day.
- 4:07Speaker 2: They're open, so great.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Colds, flues, rashes, medical management, like you said anything that
- 4:13Speaker 1: really you need and then to make an appointment and
- 4:16Speaker 1: work with any doctors within these Theedar Sinai Medical Group.
- 4:20Speaker 2: We do need to have insurance, right.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Yeah, so you do have to have some sort of
- 4:23Speaker 3: insurance and most major insurance types are covered Cedar Sini
- 4:28Speaker 3: HMO patients are part of this part of our system too.
- 4:31Speaker 3: If you have any kind of PPO. We generally take
- 4:34Speaker 3: almost every kind of insurance that there is. And a
- 4:37Speaker 3: lot of people have chronic conditions and they kind of
- 4:39Speaker 3: don't know, you know, who's the right doctor for this. Well,
- 4:43Speaker 3: a primary care doctor is really the right doctor for everything,
- 4:47Speaker 3: and we can help guide you, you know, if you're
- 4:50Speaker 3: not sure where you're supposed to go or what's the
- 4:52Speaker 3: best way to get this chronic or acute issue taken
- 4:55Speaker 3: care of. We can help funnel you to the right place,
- 4:58Speaker 3: give you right referrals and contact information for the right people. Yeah,
- 5:02Speaker 3: because sometimes it gets confusing.
- 5:04Speaker 1: When we go to Cedar Sinai Connect, we can request
- 5:07Speaker 1: a doctor for our whatever our issue is.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, so you can talk to the doctor. So
- 5:12Speaker 3: have a visit with a primary care doctor. So primary
- 5:15Speaker 3: care is like a general doctor that does everything for
- 5:18Speaker 3: adults so men and women and then try to figure
- 5:22Speaker 3: out is this something that a general primary care doctor
- 5:24Speaker 3: can take care of, or is this something I need
- 5:26Speaker 3: to see a specialist for. Do I need another evaluation?
- 5:30Speaker 3: Do I have to go in person? Is this something
- 5:32Speaker 3: that I need blood work or something more complicated to
- 5:36Speaker 3: take care of it? So it can be the small
- 5:39Speaker 3: urgent things like you said, but also more complicated medical
- 5:42Speaker 3: conditions that need evaluation, and sometimes people don't know where
- 5:46Speaker 3: to go and they don't know how to get it
- 5:47Speaker 3: taken care of well.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Again, and whether this was inspired by the changes that
- 5:51Speaker 1: happened after twenty twenty. I'm grateful because their life is
- 5:54Speaker 1: a lot and people are busy, and I feel like
- 5:57Speaker 1: it helps you, it helps us having this care of all.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Virtually we just want to get better and feel good,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and you want to help us get to that place.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And so the fact that we can do it more
- 6:06Speaker 1: easily I fill with the Theedar Sinai connect. I'm just
- 6:09Speaker 1: grateful it exists. So thank you for doing it and
- 6:12Speaker 1: offering the hell to people. So it's like, as long
- 6:13Speaker 1: as you have insurance, that's help is available, and there's
- 6:16Speaker 1: so many hundreds, it's got to be hundreds.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Of top doctors with seaters right, so many to choose from.
- 6:21Speaker 3: CES connect has about twenty five doctors working who only.
- 6:26Speaker 2: The virtual doctors truly gone.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and we're connected to the primary care department. So
- 6:32Speaker 3: whether you have a doctor inside of seaters or outside
- 6:35Speaker 3: of seaters, you can, you know, as long as we
- 6:37Speaker 3: take your insurance, you can have a visit with cs connect.
- 6:40Speaker 3: And again we can work with your primary care doctor.
- 6:43Speaker 3: We can take care of something small that needs to
- 6:45Speaker 3: be taken care of urgently too, so it'll save you
- 6:48Speaker 3: a trip to the urgent care. If you need to
- 6:51Speaker 3: be seen in person, we'll let you know.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Great, Yeah, you need to go to.
- 6:54Speaker 3: The emergency room, we'll let you know. And if it's
- 6:57Speaker 3: it's something that we can take care of, we'll take
- 6:59Speaker 3: care of it for you. And we love it when
- 7:02Speaker 3: people can do it, you know, on their lunch break.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Oh sure, Yeah, when.
- 7:06Speaker 3: You have a break at work, you don't have to leave,
- 7:09Speaker 3: you don't have to go anywhere.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm five, parking and all that stuff. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 7:15Speaker 3: You know, you just want to be in a safe place,
- 7:18Speaker 3: and it's so nice to be able to have a
- 7:20Speaker 3: private obviously, you want to be in a private place
- 7:22Speaker 3: as well. You can have a private conversation with your doctor.
- 7:26Speaker 2: But see, like you sound so sweet. I think you're
- 7:28Speaker 2: my new doctor. I think I might request you to
- 7:30Speaker 2: be a doctor any time.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Yeah, anytime. I love it. You know, there's nothing like
- 7:35Speaker 3: connecting with someone and helping them. I think it's I
- 7:38Speaker 3: always tell my colleagues, we're so lucky that we have
- 7:41Speaker 3: such a positive job, that our job is to help people,
- 7:45Speaker 3: and we get to sort of help people move in
- 7:47Speaker 3: the right direction every day. And whether that's encouraging someone
- 7:51Speaker 3: to exercise or manage their chronic condition, you know, or
- 7:56Speaker 3: helping them with their cough, like your terrible cough. And yeah,
- 8:01Speaker 3: it's such a rewarding and positive and lovely thing to
- 8:03Speaker 3: be able to do. It's really a privilege. And being
- 8:06Speaker 3: able to do it in such an easy way for
- 8:09Speaker 3: people where it's so accessible. Yeah, you know, some people
- 8:12Speaker 3: are not able to get to the doctor. Maybe they
- 8:15Speaker 3: don't have transportation, or they're not well enough.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, all of it.
- 8:18Speaker 1: And again, as long as you have insurance, you just
- 8:21Speaker 1: have to be able to pop online or pop on
- 8:23Speaker 1: the SS connect app get appointment with a doctor, a
- 8:27Speaker 1: virtual appointment with the doctor and get your stuff handled,
- 8:30Speaker 1: get the help you need, the medical help that you
- 8:32Speaker 1: need to feel better, or.
- 8:33Speaker 2: The appointments and referrals that you need to feel better.
- 8:36Speaker 1: And while law, they're making it happen for you, for us,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and faster than you having to go in and do
- 8:43Speaker 1: all that stuff.
- 8:43Speaker 2: So oh, just so grateful. Thank you so much for
- 8:46Speaker 2: the help.
- 8:47Speaker 1: That I receive, and thanks for helping so many patients
- 8:50Speaker 1: feel better faster, and thanks for all your great work.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And I swear I'm gonna make appointment with you, yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: in person or online very soon for I don't even
- 8:57Speaker 1: know what, but.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Please, you're sweet, Yeah, anytime. I mean, we're here, and
- 9:04Speaker 3: it's so easy to access. You can just go on
- 9:07Speaker 3: the website. Just go to CEUs Connect. There's a big
- 9:10Speaker 3: button that says start a visit and you can schedule
- 9:14Speaker 3: it or you can kind of wait in line. We
- 9:16Speaker 3: have an on demand option where you just wait in
- 9:18Speaker 3: line for the next available doctor. Yeah, or you can
- 9:21Speaker 3: schedule it at your convenience. And we're open twenty four
- 9:24Speaker 3: hours a day. So great, that so needed and time
- 9:27Speaker 3: you need it, holidays and weekends. We're all oys here,
- 9:30Speaker 3: so if you need anything, we're available.
- 9:32Speaker 1: And doctor Gray can ask really quick, how does it
- 9:34Speaker 1: work with the doctor that I got at five am
- 9:36Speaker 1: on a Sunday. She was wide awake, so sweet, but
- 9:39Speaker 1: she was in New York on New York time, so.
- 9:41Speaker 2: She's still a Cedar's doctor in New York. Yeah, okay,
- 9:44Speaker 2: So all.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Of these doctors are hired, interviewed, hired, and managed by
- 9:48Speaker 3: Cedar Sinai. So I'm their manager and I'm their medical director.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Myself and my boss we run the program. We manage
- 9:57Speaker 3: them and help them and train them in our system.
- 10:00Speaker 3: They all have to be licensed in the state of California,
- 10:03Speaker 3: and actually the patients have to be in the state
- 10:05Speaker 3: of California too, because we're only licensed in the state
- 10:08Speaker 3: of California. Okay, if you're on vacation somewhere else, unfortunately
- 10:12Speaker 3: you can't use our system. But if you're in the
- 10:14Speaker 3: state of California, we can see you. And all of
- 10:17Speaker 3: our doctors are licensed for California and they work for
- 10:20Speaker 3: Cedar Sinai.
- 10:21Speaker 2: God. Yeah, the doctor who helped me was just a
- 10:23Speaker 2: wonderful you.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Know, not to like toot our own horn too much,
- 10:26Speaker 3: but Theedars, I think the unique thing and the special
- 10:29Speaker 3: thing about THEEDARS is that we're we have an amazing system.
- 10:33Speaker 3: So once you're like you're saying your care is all
- 10:36Speaker 3: in THEEDARS, once you're in our system, like your heart
- 10:39Speaker 3: doctor knows your general doctor, you know your CUS connect
- 10:42Speaker 3: doctors connected to everybody, and so because we all sort
- 10:46Speaker 3: of know each other work together, it's in the same system.
- 10:49Speaker 3: It's so like streamlined. Yeah, from our perspective too streamlined.
- 10:54Speaker 2: It's easy for all my doctors to see what meds
- 10:57Speaker 2: I'm on, meds I'm not on. When's the last time
- 10:59Speaker 2: I got my colonoscopy or my mammogram? I mean, yeah, exactly,
- 11:03Speaker 2: all connected for sure. Yeah, I agree.
- 11:05Speaker 3: It's nice to have so much safer. Yeah, yeah, way safer,
- 11:10Speaker 3: way safer, because when you don't know, you just don't know,
- 11:12Speaker 3: and then things get dropped and nobody realizes it. Yeah
- 11:16Speaker 3: you know, you don't realize it, and then people lose
- 11:19Speaker 3: track and that's when things get messy. So I have
- 11:22Speaker 3: worked here for so long because it's so like move.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I feel like all my doctors are on the same page.
- 11:28Speaker 1: All my doctors can be on the same page because
- 11:30Speaker 1: of the CS connect and the way that they're all
- 11:33Speaker 1: they can all look at. It's like they're all looking
- 11:35Speaker 1: at the same clipboard virtually, right, and they can all
- 11:39Speaker 1: see your all your doctor's appointments, which doctors you've seen,
- 11:42Speaker 1: when you've seen them, when you're due for your next
- 11:44Speaker 1: check up on this or check up on that, all
- 11:47Speaker 1: the information about your medications.
- 11:49Speaker 2: It's great.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Well, they're all like linked together.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yes, linked.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I have to say. It's a totally different experience as
- 11:55Speaker 3: a doctor too, just in terms of being able to
- 11:59Speaker 3: provide excellent care. I always help people when I interview
- 12:02Speaker 3: them so easily, Like it's so easy to do an
- 12:06Speaker 3: amazing job.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I love that.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I love that, and I think that gives patients, patients
- 12:11Speaker 1: a peace of mind, you know, it should give them
- 12:12Speaker 1: a piece of mind. So because if you have doctors
- 12:15Speaker 1: that are not part of the group, then they're like
- 12:18Speaker 1: a little out of the loop as to what you've
- 12:19Speaker 1: been doing, what you're up to.
- 12:20Speaker 2: You like, am I supposed to write this down? Or
- 12:22Speaker 2: how do I tell her? Like I don't remember what
- 12:24Speaker 2: meds I'm on? Like, oh wait, let me, you know,
- 12:28Speaker 2: go try to look it up and show you a screenshot.
- 12:30Speaker 1: No, it Yeah, if you use doctors always in the
- 12:33Speaker 1: same medical group, I can't make it much easier for
- 12:36Speaker 1: them to all stay on the same page for you
- 12:38Speaker 1: to get.
- 12:38Speaker 2: The best medical care. Absolutely perfect.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Again, it's just a lifesaver for any issues that folks
- 12:44Speaker 1: may have, just to know that this service is available
- 12:46Speaker 1: twenty four to seven. Again, just had to be in
- 12:48Speaker 1: California and have insurance. But the people are so nice
- 12:50Speaker 1: as you can hear from doctor Gray. Sweet people who
- 12:54Speaker 1: like they want to take their time and they're not rushing.
- 12:56Speaker 2: They're not right. She didn't rush me through my appointment.
- 12:59Speaker 2: She felt so bad. She's just a sweetheart.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I really just appreciate her nice being up at five
- 13:05Speaker 1: am on a Sunday to help me and rescue me
- 13:08Speaker 1: with the medication I needed and that I got just
- 13:10Speaker 1: hours after I spoke with her.
- 13:12Speaker 2: So it was just very very very grateful.
- 13:14Speaker 1: And to know that that that I'll have my back
- 13:16Speaker 1: pocket now for forever, to know if something happens to
- 13:19Speaker 1: myself or my honey or people that I love, I
- 13:22Speaker 1: can be like, oh, let's get this fixed. Let's go
- 13:25Speaker 1: online or download the Cus connect app and get it done,
- 13:29Speaker 1: get it handled.
- 13:30Speaker 3: And we see kids too, we see kids over the
- 13:32Speaker 3: age of three.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Oh, that's great for parents to know sure.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Three on up on up, all the way up, and
- 13:39Speaker 3: so we have a real variety of skill, you know,
- 13:42Speaker 3: primary care. We're trained in everything all across the board,
- 13:46Speaker 3: and if it's something that we can't handle, we will
- 13:48Speaker 3: make sure you get to the right place. Wonderful, oh,
- 13:50Speaker 3: whether it's an acute illness or something chronic. You know,
- 13:54Speaker 3: I think people sometimes are not sure, but we are
- 13:56Speaker 3: specialists in complex medical condoms and adults and kids who
- 14:03Speaker 3: have all kinds of medical conditions and urgent issues, so
- 14:06Speaker 3: we can really take care of the vast majority of
- 14:09Speaker 3: things that people need or get you to the right place.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And there are actually two apps you can utilize for
- 14:14Speaker 1: getting these doctor appointments through Theater Sinai right.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Yes, connect app is just the virtual care. The cs
- 14:20Speaker 3: link app is the general Theater Sinai app that's connected
- 14:24Speaker 3: to like all the practices in the brick and mortar buildings.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Got it, And again, it's just kind of a huge
- 14:30Speaker 1: sigh of relief to know it's available, as people know
- 14:32Speaker 1: too if you're feeling really awful again to drive urgent
- 14:35Speaker 1: care at all hours of the night or to wait
- 14:38Speaker 1: the emergency room for hours and hours because there's all
- 14:42Speaker 1: kinds of people in front of you with more urgent
- 14:44Speaker 1: situations more America, Yeah, possibly more life threatening. So to
- 14:48Speaker 1: have this virtual space to get medical care, to see
- 14:51Speaker 1: your doctors to help you after hours and on weekends
- 14:54Speaker 1: and holidays is a godsend.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 3: We encourage people to try to sort of think out
- 15:00Speaker 3: what where you need to go. So the emergency room
- 15:03Speaker 3: is really for like life threatening things, anything heart related,
- 15:08Speaker 3: you know, if you think you're having a heart attack
- 15:10Speaker 3: or a stroke, or you know, something really life threatening.
- 15:13Speaker 3: The urgent care is great for sort of smaller urgent
- 15:16Speaker 3: things that need to be seen in person. If you
- 15:18Speaker 3: need stitches, you know, if you might have like pneumonia,
- 15:21Speaker 3: you can get evaluated and treated at the urgent care.
- 15:24Speaker 3: If you have a really bad ear infection, something that
- 15:26Speaker 3: someone needs to look at, and then you can use
- 15:29Speaker 3: the video visits for things that maybe nobody needs to
- 15:32Speaker 3: see with their eyes, but they can evaluate you over
