- 0:01Bound Bound Bang your management Fantasy hockey podcast.
- 0:04Well. Wow.
- 0:09And even do one for Janky. Is he?
- 0:11If Ricky was here, he would not do a while right now with how
- 0:15depressed we're feeling after yesterday's game, welcoming
- 0:18everybody to bang your management, the fantasy Hockey
- 0:20podcast with only Kevin and Josh.
- 0:23Today, once again, Jakey is still depressed from how last
- 0:28night's game went and he decided to take the day off.
- 0:30Now he's he's caught up with some work stuff.
- 0:32So we're holding down the Fort while he's away.
- 0:35But yeah, I mean, listen, we're recording this on Tuesday, the
- 0:40day after the Habs, Habs, Carolina, game three so far.
- 0:43Energy seemed low. You're welcome.
- 0:46For everybody that was that was upset that we were being too,
- 0:49too big of homers earlier. Now we're going to be the
- 0:50opposite, I guess. But yeah, we're going to talk
- 0:54about Vegas, Colorado, because that's a big one.
- 0:57And we're obviously going to talk about the haves and
- 0:59Carolina and we're going to be at an emotional level of
- 1:04probably like a three out of 10. OK, on on a scale of 1 to 10,
- 1:08how are you feeling, Josh? I mean, I don't wanna, I wanna
- 1:14come in with some strong energy for, for our listeners, but if
- 1:17I'm being honest, I'm at like a 0.
- 1:21The highs are high and the lows are low.
- 1:23Yeah, I mean, you guys all know from watching me go through this
- 1:27fantasy season that I have 0 emotional regulation and this is
- 1:311 area when it comes to hockey, both fantasy hockey.
- 1:34And you know, for years when the haves were really bad in
- 1:37rebuilding, I kind of just closed my, you know, my heart to
- 1:41them off of it. I was like, I know we're
- 1:43rebuilding. I don't, you know, I'm not going
- 1:44to worry about them losing whatever, you know.
- 1:46But now that they're good again and they're in the conference
- 1:49finals, it just hurts so bad. I'm trying to rationalize.
- 1:54OK, so we're gonna talk about the web series first, or we talk
- 1:56about Colorado first. What do you want to do?
- 1:58Let's talk about the house first.
- 1:59Like we always do. OK, Well, listen, before we get
- 2:01into it. If you're watching this during
- 2:03the offseason, that means you love, you love us.
- 2:05You love fantasy hockey. And even though not touching a
- 2:07fantasy hockey, we're still touching about hockey, right?
- 2:09We love touching hockey, so drop us a follow on Spotify or Apple,
- 2:14wherever you're listening to this.
- 2:16If you haven't rated us yet, if you can, please rate US five
- 2:18stars on Spotify or Apple or leave us a positive comment.
- 2:22Honestly goes a long way into building the podcast, building
- 2:24the community that we're trying to build here.
- 2:25And if you're not in the Discord already, that's an invaluable
- 2:28place to be, especially once the season starts.
- 2:31And for all of you guys that were really interested in
- 2:34joining the Anger Management League next season, that's where
- 2:36we're going to be posting most of the information for that.
- 2:39So when the time comes, we're gonna make a lot of
- 2:41announcements there. You'll also hear about it on the
- 2:43pod, but if you want to be first come, first serve, it's in the
- 2:46discord that you got to be. The links are in the description
- 2:48of wherever you're watching this and obviously you got to like
- 2:50comment, subscribe on YouTube because we really appreciate
- 2:52that. But now that that's out of the
- 2:55way, um, listen these OK, how I'm trying to rationalize this
- 3:00hab series. So first of all, if you haven't
- 3:02been paying attention, the haves are losing the series 21.
- 3:04We have lost Game 2 and game 3 back-to-back in overtime.
- 3:08So it's been pretty depressing because I feel like we've been
- 3:11dominated in both games. It feels like obviously, like we
- 3:15can't shoot on goal for some reason, even though Freddie
- 3:17Anderson is the worst goalie in the entire existence.
- 3:20But we're still in these games and we're playing tough and I
- 3:23feel like we're dangerous even though not shots on goal.
- 3:25We feel dangerous. We feel we can score, but it's
- 3:27just not coming through. But I'm trying to rationalize it
- 3:32with we had halves in seven, right?
- 3:33So they were. That means we're gonna lose 3
- 3:35games. It also means that, you know,
- 3:38Carolina is a great team. They've made it this far.
- 3:41They make it as far every year. Like it was not going to be
- 3:43easy. So that's how I'm thinking about
- 3:45things to make these losses feel less bad.
- 3:48But it's just after you play so many minutes and you go into
- 3:52overtime and you lose it back-to-back.
- 3:53It's just it's things. It's right in the heart.
- 3:57Yeah, it's tough because obviously overtime is one goal
- 4:00decides all right, and every single game is the equivalent of
- 4:04a four point game on steroids. Yeah, right.
- 4:07So it's one goal is the difference between being up to 0
- 4:11in the series versus 11. Then it's the difference being
- 4:13up to 1 Series versus down to 1, like 2.
- 4:16Two goals go different, 2 bounces go different.
- 4:18We're up 3, nothing in this series.
- 4:19So it's it definitely both those games, if we had would have been
- 4:23undeserved. Carolina, I think was definitely
- 4:25the better team in both. It is frustrating.
- 4:27Then we we deserved. I don't know if I'm being just a
- 4:30little bit too much of A Homer, but I feel like I wouldn't take
- 4:32it in third period. I think we were playing, really.
- 4:35Well I would say, I would say like I would still give the edge
- 4:38to Carolina, but I wouldn't say it was about his Game 2.
- 4:40Like if we had won I wouldn't have felt like oh that was an
- 4:42undeserved win. I would have been like OK maybe
- 4:44we got a bit lucky there but we still played some decent hockey.
- 4:48Game two would have been a complete stolen win if we want
- 4:50that because Carolina dominated. It is frustrating seeing 2
- 4:53almost identical games because you just think to yourself the
- 4:57coach is not making the correct assessments.
- 4:59Yeah, you know, you have obviously he's also a super
- 5:03young coach in the league, right?
- 5:05So we talk about all the experience being gained for the
- 5:08players and all that stuff, but it all applies to to San Louis
- 5:10as well. And you obviously have Rod,
- 5:13who's been one of the longest tenured coaches, has made the
- 5:15conference finals the past like 4 years in a row and he just has
- 5:19his system and he clearly figured out how to make
- 5:21adjustments after game one and we just haven't made adjustments
- 5:24after Game 2. So hopefully game 4 is a
- 5:26different story. It's also been just super
- 5:28frustrating, the housing awful at home.
- 5:31There's so much talk about the Bell Centre being such an
- 5:34amazing place to go watch a game, to go play, the energy and
- 5:37all that. That's all true, but the heads
- 5:39are not using it at all to their advantage.
- 5:41If anything it feels like they're being disadvantaged at
- 5:43home and I don't even know why. And I mean in my mind that comes
- 5:46down to coaching because the biggest advantage of home ice
- 5:49other than the crowd and all that is the last change.
- 5:51And so if you're getting, you know the thing with Carolina is
- 5:55that they have 4 lines that they trust and could play.
- 5:57Like I was, we were watching, you know, watching the game
- 5:59yesterday, their fourth line played at least felt like to me,
- 6:02they were playing tons of shifts in overtime and the third period
- 6:05and our fourth line. Yeah, exactly.
- 6:07Because what happened in Game 2 was they played their their
- 6:10fourth line in the overtime and then captain gives it away and
- 6:13then that leads to a goal against.
- 6:14So they obviously can't trust their fourth line when it
- 6:16matters most. This series is such a game of
- 6:19margins that it always matters most, especially once you get
- 6:22mid second period to the rest of the game.
- 6:25So you're writing a short bench against a team who's playing
- 6:28their full bench and has played half the amount of games that
- 6:30you have. They looked gassed in the their
- 6:33timeline game. They looked exhausted.
- 6:35They were this. I'm so tired of stupid icings,
- 6:37the stupid flipping it up in the air.
- 6:40The the amount of times they've done it unforced just drives me
- 6:43nuts. Every time they have an unforced
- 6:45icing or an unforced, just toss it to the other end of the ice
- 6:47and the dump and not chase. No wonder you haven't 12 shots
- 6:51two games in a row. You're not taking any possession
- 6:53of the puck. So it's definitely a frustrating
- 6:55watch because I fully agree. Anderson I think is by far the
- 6:59worst goalie still in the playoffs.
- 7:01I think he's one of the worst goalies who made the playoffs
- 7:04and you could see they keep letting in two goals and 12
- 7:06shots. That's not good stats.
- 7:08Game 1, he let in five goals, right?
- 7:10Or four goals in that empty net. But like, he's not a good
- 7:13goalie. Dobish is playing out of his GD
- 7:15mind right now and they keep hitting him.
- 7:18Yeah. First of all, I mean, it's
- 7:19ridiculous. I'm so tired of the refs.
- 7:21First of all, I actually don't care about the refs not calling
- 7:24stuff on the like that happening.
- 7:26So you do an interference, whatever.
- 7:27It goes both ways. I'm I don't care.
- 7:29I know that's playoff hockey. You live with it.
- 7:31Obviously they had a big interference, then get called
- 7:34and then we had that too many men on the ice and overtime they
- 7:36didn't get called, it cancels. Out soft call though, like a
- 7:39certain point to call, you have to use your judgment and we
- 7:43didn't have any advantage. There was just kind of like a
- 7:44broken play that affected the guy that was like.
- 7:46Changing realistic like if it's rule book it would be a penalty
- 7:49but it's playoffs and they don't call it and that's fine because
- 7:51that goes both ways the one thing I really have an issue
- 7:54with is there repeatedly series after series it's happening is
- 7:5710 but how do you Buffalo tapping East Carolina they just
- 7:59run into our goalie and there's zero repercussions the.
- 8:02Only time they. Penalty.
- 8:03Yeah. And the only time, every time
- 8:04that happens, they call a penalty on Carolina.
- 8:07Oh, penalty on the Habs, too. They called the same thing
- 8:09happened with against Buffalo. You know, either way, they don't
- 8:11call anything or they call offsetting penalties.
- 8:13Yeah. I'm sorry.
- 8:14Since when is it a penalty to defend your goal who just got
- 8:16ran? And also, if you look at Jake
- 8:18Evans, like he gives them like a little tap on that, yeah, and
- 8:21then just kind of like holds him down.
- 8:23He wasn't like battering him when he was on the floor.
- 8:26So I thought it was like that was gonna get his money at all
- 8:28moneys worth getting that roughing penalty.
- 8:31Isolated incident after the whistle?
- 8:33Sure, call that a penalty. But when the guy runs into your
- 8:35goalie, you have to expect that a player's gonna go and make him
- 8:38like pay the price. That's just hockey.
- 8:40So anyways, I find that very frustrating, but I'm not willing
- 8:43to really place any blame on the refs for our loss.
- 8:45I think that have just didn't play well enough.
- 8:47That's that's kind of where I'm at.
- 8:48And I'm just, it's just frustrating games.
- 8:50And that's what Hurricanes do so well, where they excel at.
- 8:52It's not it goes both ways. Not just the haves not playing
- 8:55well enough. the Hurricanes are playing their game.
- 8:57There's a reason that's what they do.
- 8:58They let other teams only get 12 shots and they get like 30-5
- 9:01shots and they win by one goal because they take a lot of
- 9:04perimeter shots, a lot of low danger shots.
- 9:07So it always looks worse than it is, but at the same time it is
- 9:10bad because no shots on goal means you can't score.
- 9:13So it's we're in a kind of interesting spot at this point
- 9:16this year. He's obviously I don't know
- 9:18about you, but in my mind, if we lose the next game, it's over.
- 9:20There's no way we're winning three in a row.
- 9:22So I think pretty much next game is our Game 7.
- 9:25So we'll see what happens. If they can get a win at the
- 9:27Bell Centre, which seems impossible these playoffs, it's
- 9:30hard not to fall into the trap of oh, we lost a game, we lost
- 9:32two games straight, We're never going to win a game again this
- 9:34year. Same thing as after we won,
- 9:36we're never going to lose a game again.
- 9:37So we talk about that a lot. It's hard to get out of that
- 9:39mentality, but I still think, you know, fact is 2 games where
- 9:44I think Hurricanes played their exact style of hockey and the
- 9:46haves fed into exactly what the Hurricanes wanted to do and both
- 9:50teams that had to go to overtime.
- 9:51So when the house play our style, we went 6252 when they
- 9:55played their style, they win in overtime.
- 9:57We can steal some of these games.
- 9:59Hopefully we can get one or two games that are our style where
- 10:01we don't have to steal it, but I think it's going to sound we
- 10:05have to make adjustments. I'm going to listen.
- 10:08I have a lot to say. I think first of all, I don't
- 10:10want to whine about the refs because I think that's just why
- 10:12like whiny baby behavior. You can even say that.
- 10:16But I think that the Dobesh call, like the four on four
- 10:21after them ramming into Dobesh, I think is unacceptable.
- 10:25And I also think the lack of a call on the Lynn Hudson tripping
- 10:29near the end of the game as well where that was like that clear.
- 10:33The guy slams his stick into his shins, he falls over, he has the
- 10:36puck. Like I think that's a clear
- 10:37tripping. Even if you're trying not to
- 10:39make calls, I feel you can't not call that one because it's
- 10:41blatant. Those I think were were really
- 10:44missed calls. But like you said, it goes both
- 10:46ways. There's gonna be calls that that
- 10:48don't get called on both sides, both sides of the ice.
- 10:51But those I thought were like really impactful.
- 10:54And also, I do want to say that I, I think we need to do
- 11:00something to change like either the lines or get something going
- 11:06because first of all, zone entries are impossible.
- 11:09Carolina is such a good team at, at stopping single, single
- 11:12person's own entries are like almost impossible to do.
- 11:15And I feel like it's three games that we're trying to do them and
- 11:17maybe game one kind of work because we cut them off guard
- 11:20game one, the pace of play and everything like that.
- 11:22Game 2, they've been shut down. So something needs to happen
- 11:25where we have like different tactics going into those plays.
- 11:29And the last game I thought fourth line was awful, texture
- 11:34awful, Dog looked awful. They were invisible.
- 11:36Didn't hear Josh Anderson's name once last name, even though two
- 11:40games prior he was the hero of that game.
- 11:43Right, But the killer has been the turnovers.
- 11:47And I feel like the turnovers, we saw it in game two, we lost
- 11:50because we thought we had cleared the puck out.
- 11:53So guys went for a change and then we didn't actually get the
- 11:55fuck out. And then we get we give them
- 11:56automan rush. That was and that happened again
- 11:59in Game 3. Not the change, but it's just
- 12:02the turnovers where you have to clearly get it out by some way.
- 12:06First of all, you gotta try to avoid the icing.
- 12:08But like just getting. Steaks I've ever seen.
- 12:12First thing I think it comes with the fact that we're like
- 12:15the thing that the hubs have been doing is that like Carolina
- 12:19is playing a great game, super solid and they're like barely
- 12:22edging out these wins, right? Because what we're we have like
- 12:26the pressure and the perseverance to like place
- 12:29grabby hockey and out effort the opponents.
- 12:32But when we have 1516 games under our belt and they've got
- 12:36eight games under their belt, at a certain point we're losing our
- 12:39legs and and getting through through sheer force and power
- 12:43and hardship. And you know, the perseverance
- 12:45of like out offering your opponent.
- 12:47If you don't got the energy to do that anymore, you're gonna
- 12:49make sloppy mistakes and the other team is just gonna be able
- 12:51to capitalize on them. And that's what I feel has cost
- 12:53as these last two games. 100 percent, 100%.
- 12:57Dobish is playing out of his mind.
- 12:58It really feels like the only way they're getting them by him
- 13:01is when we make these massive mistakes.
- 13:03And honestly, we've been making more mistakes than goals they've
- 13:06been scoring. He's been bailing us out a
- 13:08decent amount and keeping us in. 1000%.
- 13:11And it's just a waste where the way we're wasting the he's
- 13:13keeping us in them and then we're wasting the opportunity.
- 13:15Like, yeah, obviously the Game 2 capping in, not dumping it in.
- 13:18Like that's a rookie mistake. You dump it, you just get it in
- 13:21deep, make the change. And that cost us the game.
- 13:23Last game. Hudson, with that terrible
- 13:25giveaway. I don't even know what he was
- 13:28thinking. I mean, like you said, he was
- 13:29gassed, right? And he had the puck, it feels
- 13:30like the whole game, right? So at certain point you're bound
- 13:33to make some mistakes. But he shouldn't have to need to
- 13:35have to put the whole game like somebody's got to be able to
- 13:36help him or, you know, take some of the load off.
- 13:39Yeah. So it was a look, it's we're in
- 13:41a rough spot. I don't think it's going to be
- 13:43easy. I don't think we're out of it
- 13:44yet. I do I will say if we lose the
- 13:46next one I have 0 faith I. Don't think it's over.
- 13:49I don't know if it's just I think.
- 13:50We're down 31. We can.
- 13:52We can win 3. Straight, I still think we have
- 13:53a chance to win because what happens then we go to Carolina,
- 13:56we can win away from home, we come back to the Bell Centre,
- 13:58everything on the line, I'm going to give us at least a
- 14:02chance to win that game. And then game seven, who knows
- 14:04what can happen in game seven. That's how that's how I'm
- 14:06rationalizing it. I just don't think we're out in
- 14:09five, like I think we're winning either the next one or games or
- 14:12games. I'm not saying I'm not saying if
- 14:13they win the next one that will lose in five.
- 14:15I'm saying if they win the next one, there's zero.
- 14:16Chance I'm not saying the other in our favor, but I'm not losing
- 14:19complete hope that like we can't win three in a row we've done it
- 14:21before in the past when with this group even though.
- 14:24We haven't had lessons in a row, like once in a series this
- 14:28playoffs I think other than now have we won two games in a row?
- 14:31We within a series, No. Yeah, there you go.
- 14:35We won the only time. That's Buffalo first game
- 14:36against Carolina. We haven't won two games in a
- 14:39row. Yeah, like once in a series.
- 14:41So how are we supposed to win three games in a row centre?
- 14:45Yeah, exactly. I mean, that's what they do in
- 14:47the coach does when he's giving hostages before every game.
- 14:49Yeah, because you can't think that far ahead.
- 14:51But I'm just saying they should be treating this next game as if
- 14:54it was Game 7. And yeah, I mean, again, you
- 14:57ideally, if you're the coach trying to get them to treat
- 14:58every game like it's a Game 7, but it's just a mentality thing.
- 15:02But they're going to have to play their best hockey.
- 15:04I think that's that's what it comes down to.
- 15:05If they play their best, they can hang with Carolina.
- 15:08The last two games have not been their best.
- 15:10And Carolina. We're still hanging with them
- 15:11though. Yeah, but.
- 15:13That's encouraging. Like, these games are such close
- 15:15margins, and we've been playing legitimately bad.
- 15:18Yeah. So it's like, imagine we start
- 15:20playing average or good. Like you feel like we'd have a
- 15:23better shot. To be fair, Carolina is making
- 15:25us play bad. So it's it goes hand in hand and
- 15:28it's not. It's if we can play well, I feel
- 15:32great, but it's not a guaranteed right because of Carolina style.
- 15:36I think Caroline's forecheck is super aggressive.
- 15:38That has all the amount of times the haves have complete control
- 15:41of the puck in their own zone. And then Caroline comes in the
- 15:44four track, they make one pass too many, they bobble it and all
- 15:46of a sudden it's his own session for Carolina.
- 15:48It's so frustrating to see. And what made us so good in game
- 15:52one was that they had that aggressive forecheck and we were
- 15:56able to make these crisp passes and kind of get out of it.
- 15:58And that led to a lot of breakaways, 2 on ones, on man
- 16:00rushes. And we haven't seen that in game
- 16:02two and three. They completely killed the
- 16:03neutral zone. They've jammed it up.
- 16:05We can't get it in. And they need to make an
- 16:08adjustment. And look, I'm not I'm not the
- 16:09coach of the haves. I don't know what the adjustment
- 16:11is that needs to be made, but that's what they get paid for.
- 16:14So I'm hoping to see not the exact same thing again in terms
- 16:17of roster. I know that every single time on
- 16:20the on the have subreddit, every single time they.
- 16:22Have gallery? Pulgarin put in jacket.
- 16:24You know, do you think any of that would like change anything
- 16:28or do you think it's all the same?
- 16:31I think maybe Jackie, because they've been very physical with
- 16:35us. Like last game is the first time
- 16:36that I actually generally noticed it, that I'm paying
- 16:39attention to all the players and everybody is making extra effort
- 16:42to finish their checks and be extra physical.
- 16:44Even though the puck is like gone.
- 16:46People are finishing their checks hard and people are
- 16:49getting a little nasty with it, doing a little bit of the the
- 16:52the low key physical stuff too, like the little bit of the cross
- 16:55checks on the side where you can get away with a little bit.
- 16:57Yeah, I'm noticing a lot of that.
- 16:59And then going into Dobesh, like if Jackie is there to punch
- 17:03somebody in the head, then maybe it's a different story.
- 17:06The thing is trouble. I feel like it's valuable and
- 17:07like it gives a a piece that you can trust as your third pair to
- 17:13give your other pairs A breather.
- 17:14Whereas when the going gets tough, Jackass not gonna see the
- 17:17ice, he's too much of A liability there.
- 17:19So it's really, really tough. But I don't know, I think that's
- 17:24more valuable. I'd be willing to try that more
- 17:26than just putting Gallagher into the lineup because I feel like
- 17:30Gallagher has just does not have the juice.
- 17:32And yeah, he scored a goal last time we put him in, but I feel
- 17:34like that's, you can't rely on that, you know, like like 7
- 17:36minutes to score one goal. Any, any merit to the thought of
- 17:41putting Jackie on like the fourth line and leaving Strubel
- 17:44in and taking out like the Leno? And then, you know, then if
- 17:47Jack, I only place his 5-6 minutes a game, it's not as
- 17:49impactful because you still have three fold pairings.
- 17:52I mean, they're not gonna do it, but that's just kind of like a
- 17:55thought. The thing is, I hate that the
- 17:57way to get out of the line of. 100% yeah that's it so at the
- 18:01end of the day, it's hard to bring in a guy who you know is
- 18:03gonna get 6 minutes, especially if these games are going to
- 18:05overtime, especially because everyone so gassed like you
- 18:07looked out you saw how tired they were you thought it was the
- 18:10shortened bench. You need guys that you can trust
- 18:12and look it's an easy fix for the future, right?
- 18:15It's not hard to find 4th liners that you can trust.
- 18:17Look, it's. It's not even really good these
- 18:20playoffs. It's just these last few games
- 18:22they've been invisible and you're not both the bank on your
- 18:24fourth line being the one that's getting carried the team either,
- 18:26right? So I think, I think the issue is
- 18:28not that they've been invisible. I think the issue is that
- 18:29they've been noticeably bad. Yeah, they they, they're like.
- 18:32Mine even negative. Four or five, yeah, that's it.
- 18:34They cost us a ton of goals. That's when it if they're just
- 18:37going out there and netting 0, like they're not scoring but
- 18:40they're getting scored games, then you would have to shorten
- 18:42the bench. But if it's every time these
- 18:44guys go out there, there's a big offensive zone chance for the
- 18:47opponent they score goals against, that's when the bench
- 18:49has shortened because you're just costing us the game.
- 18:52So yeah, it's tough. Maybe it's like you said, they
- 18:54need to reshuffle some of the lines a bit to get to a point
- 18:57where they can trust all four of them.
- 18:59But the longer these playoffs go, it's just, especially this
- 19:02series, it just looks like tiredness is becoming an issue.
- 19:05And we talked about before the series, we were like, how
- 19:07important is this break versus the knob break?
- 19:09And I guess we're seeing it, right?
- 19:11We're seeing it live right in front of us.
- 19:12And it's kind of a lot of people kind of predicted this.
- 19:14They said game one, Montreal's going to come in and play well
- 19:17because they have the momentum, whatever.
- 19:19But as the series goes on, Carolina's rest is gonna pay
- 19:21off. So we'll see what happens.
- 19:23I'm not counting us out just yet, but I'm I'm not feeling
- 19:27confident. At all.
- 19:28Count us out tomorrow, is what you're saying.
- 19:30If they lose, yeah, I'll count us out.
- 19:32I'm still gonna hope, but I'll count us out.
- 19:35I don't think it's over, but I definitely think these last two
- 19:38games, I don't know, I feel like we have a lot more potential
- 19:41that we're not seeing. And if this is what it looks
- 19:43like when we're playing really bad, then I'm encouraged because
- 19:45like we could have easily stolen one of the last two games,
- 19:48right? And then we would have said
- 19:49we're winning the Series 21 and we feel really good because we
- 19:53also feel we still have potential in the tank.
- 19:55So I think it just depends on how the games they would
- 19:58obviously like you're going to be more positive or negative
- 20:01depending on how it went. And right now it's negative,
- 20:03right? So hopefully this next game goes
- 20:05well and we're able to have a more positive spin on it.
- 20:07But I do think that the fatigue is the big the big issue.
- 20:12Yeah, it's going to be tough. It's going to be tough.
- 20:13And Dobesh, honestly, like I was a little worried that he got
- 20:16hurt because you saw he had a little thing on the shoulder.
- 20:18But he looks, he looks OK, but he's just been insane, like
- 20:22unreal. It's giving like Con Smith wise
- 20:24without like without even making the finals or like losing it,
- 20:28losing the Stanley Cup finals or something.
- 20:30Yeah, yeah. Now he's playing unbelievably
- 20:33and I just hope that this is not a one time fluke.
- 20:36You know, it's not like a situation where you had that
- 20:39unreal playoff run, but then was kind of a career backup for the
- 20:41rest of his his time. It would be nice if this is the
- 20:44real deal. So I mean, we'll see.
- 20:46The good news is that like he's not putting a carry price on the
- 20:50bench, right? It's not like a multiples coming
- 20:52back or Jacob Fowler like he's potentially future, but he's not
- 20:55going to necessarily give the better run for his money next
- 20:58year, maybe in a few. Years.
- 20:59Yeah, yeah, Dobesh is going to get the run time or the room to
- 21:02show what he can do, but we'll see.
- 21:05We'll see what happens. But look, not looking to next
- 21:08season yet. We're still in it and we'll see
- 21:10what happens. Looking to next season just a
- 21:12little bit. Let's talk a little bit full
- 21:14fantasy 4 these guys in this in this season.
- 21:17Like how do you how do you feel about the fantasy players on
- 21:19this team? Because it feels like if
- 21:20Carolina can do this, are you more interested in their
- 21:23players? Like if they realistically make
- 21:25it to the Stanley Cup finals and potentially even win the Stanley
- 21:27Cup this year? Right.
- 21:28That's definitely the range of outcomes are an excellent team.
- 21:31Are we going to be more in on the the Ohos, the stretching,
- 21:33the calves, the Jarvis is the gossipers?
- 21:37I think that Jarvis is always a great bet for fantasy, so Jarvis
- 21:42I would take a ho I think as well.
- 21:44Jarvis and Aho are the 2 main guys that I think could avoid
- 21:48whatever nonsense Rod does stretching Kov.
- 21:52I think that he had a really solid year actually after
- 21:54turning things around, so I think he's going to get drafted
- 21:56higher than I would want to take him.
- 21:58Like I. Think 5-6 probably.
- 22:00He always just goes around in that range.
- 22:01Yeah, I'm not willing to take him there.
- 22:03I took him at I think 6 last year.
- 22:05He would have paid dividends if you took him there this year if
- 22:08you didn't hold them for like the first two months of the
- 22:10season or. Month, I mean, he look, he
- 22:12worked out it was, it was a solid pick, but just that entire
- 22:15first month where he did nothing right and then he became a
- 22:17beast. I'm just there's other guys I
- 22:19could take in the sixth round that aren't gonna give me that
- 22:21headache. No, I'll take I'll take Jarvis
- 22:24Goss, this beer. I like late rounds.
- 22:26If I mean, I feel like he's gonna be picked earlier because
- 22:29of the last two years, but he's also always injured, so I'm not
- 22:32dying to grab him unless I can get him late.
- 22:34So and then there's pretty much no one else I'd be interested in
- 22:37having on Carolina. So now whatever they do in the
- 22:39playoffs, even if they go all the way, doesn't change how I
- 22:41view them for for next year in fantasy.
- 22:44I mean, it doesn't really change anything, right?
- 22:47Like with any team, not just Carolina, those, I mean, the
- 22:49only time playoff performance to me changes something is if like
- 22:52a rookie oops off. Like Wyatt Johnston had that
- 22:54unreal playoffs, right? And it was like, OK, this guy's
- 22:56the real deal, maybe we need to pay attention to him next year,
- 22:58stuff like that. But in terms of a team's players
- 23:01just playing well or whatever and making it far, that doesn't
- 23:03really affect fantasy to me next year.
- 23:05Yeah, I feel like we have to avoid falling into that trap
- 23:08where, I mean, we saw this last year when we looked at like,
- 23:11let's say, what's that climate in the playoffs where he was
- 23:13like averaging five hits a game and you're like, Oh my God, is
- 23:16he like a new power forward that's really good to be like a
- 23:18double, double or something like that.
- 23:19And then the first game comes back, he drops 9 and then
- 23:22doesn't hit ever again, right? 11 hits I think.
- 23:24Whatever it was, so it was, it was just an insane amount that
- 23:28he just did, not you. Know ever live up to yeah.
- 23:31And I think we see it with a lot of these defensemen and stuff
- 23:33too, like they're averaging so many blocks.
- 23:34I think Hudson had like 5 blocks last game, something like that.
- 23:37And this is not sustainable. It's just like in a vacuum, in
- 23:40the playoffs, it makes sense because these guys are just
- 23:42putting everything on the line. But on an 82 game season, like
- 23:45this is just not part of their game.
- 23:46So you have to just be careful what you take away from it.
- 23:49But it's definitely encouraging when you see somebody kind of
- 23:51like put their mark on their team or take a step up.
- 23:53Like I think the Anaheim guys that this year, like maybe next
- 23:56year, I think they all get dropped a little higher for what
- 23:59they did and how they showed it on in the playoffs.
- 24:03But I think the Habs guys will get higher draft capital next
- 24:06season because what they were able to produce this season, you
- 24:08know, they're 100 points for Suzuki and. 50 goals for coffee.
- 24:13I think next year that definitely bumps up their stock
- 24:16a little bit and honestly, I think he's gonna be top five
- 24:18defensemen. Yeah, I think, I think Suzuki
- 24:21gets drafted round two. I think Hudson gets drafted
- 24:24round 3, maybe being Cofield, get drafted around 5, something
- 24:28like that. That's kind of where I see those
- 24:30guys. Lefkofsky probably around 7:00.
- 24:32I I think like that's, that's pretty crazy.
- 24:35Horse in the tub. Dobesh is gonna get drafted
- 24:38highly. Like, the hubs are gonna be a
- 24:40team that's gonna be fighting for like top five in the NHL.
- 24:42There were six this year. And there's a chance that Dobesh
- 24:45is like a full time starter. I mean, it's not going to be
- 24:47multiple, is not going to take any starts.
- 24:48He's not going to be on the team next year.
- 24:50I'd be surprised. 85 stars next season.
- 24:53Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So like, I think that that's
- 24:56gonna be another high pick. So yeah, I think a lot of good
- 24:59assets on the haves for the first time in my my fantasy
- 25:01career. So it'll be it'll be interesting
- 25:04to see, honestly, now that they're actually good, I don't
- 25:07mind taking them early and then I can double up on enjoying
- 25:10watching the games even more. So we'll see.
- 25:12The thing is, in our leagues with all the Habs fans, it's
- 25:14just going to be tough to actually get them because
- 25:16everybody, now that they're worth it, everybody's I think
- 25:18going to raise the price even more to try to get one on their
- 25:20roster. Well, normally I'd agree, but in
- 25:22our Bangor management league it's not going to be all House
- 25:24is true from all over the place we're gonna be.
- 25:26They only have spans so and I know you, you and Jake aren't
- 25:29gonna reach on guys, although Cheeky might reach Onslaught.
- 25:31But Vicky will force her to reach out to somebody.
- 25:33That's true. That's true, that's true.
- 25:35But yeah, it might be my first chance to actually get some
- 25:38haves. Guys on my team I've never had,
- 25:39only ever had, other than I picked Slaugh last year and it
- 25:42was a mistake. Actually took him too early.
- 25:44Other than I think I've ever had a house fire on my fantasy team,
- 25:46which is kind of crazy. I'm trying to think, yeah, I
- 25:49guess, I guess. I don't think I've ever had a
- 25:52Habs. Yeah, they always get taken so
- 25:53early in our leagues. Yeah, alright.
- 25:56Should we move to the Western Conference?
- 25:58Because that's also crazy. I want to play bug the last
- 26:02episode where I said when you told me to make my bracket, I
- 26:06had the final Vegas Habs, even though I said Colorado 7.
- 26:11I I did actually both things I said Colorado and seven when we
- 26:15were first making our predictions and then when we
- 26:17when you asked me to make my bracket after for the remaining
- 26:19things I said Vegas and Montreal.
- 26:21OK, well listen, I think this is up.
- 26:24Split it. Yeah, thing is up 3 nothing
- 26:26series right now, just as we all expected and it's I think
- 26:31tonight's game four. I think they're sleeping.
- 26:33Mckinnon's injured. He's Mckinnon's playing, but
- 26:35he's definitely injured. The chicken might be out.
- 26:37My cars playing injured. It's a stone came back.
- 26:41It's kind of just and Vegas is just out playing them in every
- 26:44way. Look, This is why I don't think
- 26:47playoffs. Oh, yeah, no, no, it's not
- 26:49because of excuses. It's Vegas deserves it.
- 26:52I'm more just saying that's even more reasonable.
- 26:54I think they're sweeping it tonight, like obviously winning
- 26:56the series, but like, you know, do you give Colorado a gamer
- 26:59here there? No, I think I think it's done
- 27:01after tonight. After they went up 30 last game
- 27:04and then choked it crazy I think.
- 27:07I think it's just hard to mentally come back from that.
- 27:09Did you see that like the video of just McKinnon on the bench
- 27:13after they scored the 4th? He's just like, looks like.
- 27:15Looking into. This eyes and he's like, yeah.
- 27:18And it's just yeah, they're broken.
- 27:20They're done. Everyone online is saying, oh,
- 27:23Bednar is getting fired and I'm like, I don't think he's getting
- 27:25fired for one bad playoff series, especially made the
- 27:27conference finals. But like it's this is a massive
- 27:31and no disrespect to Vegas, but this is a massive choke.
- 27:34Losing to Vegas wouldn't be a massive choke.
- 27:36Getting swept by Vegas is a massive choke, especially as
- 27:40just the unbelievable season they've had and unbelievable
- 27:42playoffs they've had. And I don't even care about the
- 27:45LA basically to me isn't even a playoff team, right?
- 27:47I could have slept early myself, but.
- 27:49Every episode you gotta find a way to Doug on LA.
- 27:52I love it though. But Minnesota was, in my mind,
- 27:56probably the second Best Western team.
- 27:58Yeah. And Colorado beat them easily.
- 28:00So in my mind, that was the real test.
- 28:01I was like, OK, if they can do that to Minnesota, I don't see
- 28:03anyone stopping them. And Vegas comes in and they had
- 28:06to go to six versus Anaheim. They had to go to six versus
- 28:09Utah. So I didn't think they were that
- 28:11amazing. And now they're just killing
- 28:13Colorado. It's a it's kind of crazy.
- 28:16What do you think is going on here?
- 28:19I mean, first of all, you know, I was trying.
- 28:21I was high on Minnesota, first of all.
- 28:23Yeah. And I think when you put it back
- 28:25into perspective and we talked about this, but like the
- 28:28Colorado Avalanche beat and Minnesota Wild team with one
- 28:30centre. So you put it that way, it kind
- 28:33of puts things more in perspective.
- 28:36But to credit them, obviously, like they they played a great
- 28:39series, but at the end of the day, like what's happening now,
- 28:42I think I knew was gonna be a close series that did not expect
- 28:45this at all. Like who, who could have
- 28:46predicted this? I hate that people are just
- 28:49saying, oh, they lost because my car was injured or whatever.
- 28:51If if one player outside of the lineup really, really affects
- 28:55everything, I think it's I should hear you, but I don't.
- 29:00Can you hear me now? Yeah, I hear you now.
- 29:03Sorry about that. Oh my God.
- 29:05Did you hit something by accident or just changed like it
- 29:06did to me? No, I just did what it did to.
- 29:08You lovely. Well, listen, I'm gonna do a lot
- 29:12of magic editing here, but apologies to the viewers if you
- 29:18can notice any technical difficulties.
- 29:22We we've been struggling with some camera settings, but we're
- 29:25back now. And you were saying if one
- 29:28player, Yeah, you were saying about like the macar excuse?
- 29:31That's that's the thing I hate when it comes to these playoffs.
- 29:34It's easy to extrapolate the importance of one player and
- 29:37whatnot, but it's a team game and you're building a roster to
- 29:40win the Stanley Cup and you're playing so many games that
- 29:44there's bound to be guys playing hurt.
- 29:47Everybody knows, everybody's dealing with something.
- 29:49If losing 1 player in your lineup completely, you know,
- 29:54takes away all your chances, then I don't think you deserve
- 29:57to win in the 1st place, right? Like they've played without
- 30:00Makar in the past. They've still been solid.
- 30:02Vegas didn't have Mark Stone for their first two games and that's
- 30:05arguably one of their best players, right?
- 30:07So it goes both ways. And I don't like the comments
- 30:11that Bend are made in the press about Makar either.
- 30:13He kind of threw him under the bus like, oh, kill play when
- 30:16he's ready to play. Like only he knows when.
- 30:17It kind of felt like he was being like, dude, we need you.
- 30:20Like just suck it up type of thing.
- 30:23And I feel like I killed my car is an exceptional player,
- 30:26arguably the best defenseman in the league for I don't know how
- 30:28many years at this point. But if you're throwing him under
- 30:31the bus now, I'm not trying to antagonize this dude, right?
- 30:34Like he knows he's got to play. I don't think you got to tell
- 30:38them. So I didn't really like those
- 30:40comments. And hopefully it doesn't come to
- 30:42bite them in the in the behind in the off season or anything
- 30:44like that in the future, but all that.
- 30:47Means is that maybe there's some merit to all the bed and are
- 30:50getting fired comments. I mean, if my car is like, I
- 30:53don't wanna play for this dude anymore.
- 30:54Like he's getting, he's getting the sack, the boot ASAP, right?
- 30:57Like there's no way they're choosing Bednarova Makar.
- 31:01Over the coach. I, It's always contextual, but
- 31:08no, I, I think this Colorado, I feel like they're getting
- 31:12outplayed and they're getting out disciplined.
- 31:14And I think Vegas is just a team that we saw in their previous
- 31:17cup runs when they're in the playoffs.
- 31:19This team is just so perseverant and it feels like nothing shakes
- 31:21them. No matter how many goals they're
- 31:23down, no matter how like the bad the series is going, it feels
- 31:27like they're always able to like buckle up and put it together on
- 31:30the ice when they need to. And I think that's what's
- 31:33happening and Mitch Marner is playing out of his mind.
- 31:35So many, so many guys are just coming through like is finally
- 31:38starting to wake up a little bit and he's been invisible for like
- 31:40these entire playoffs. So I just think when they're
- 31:43getting this production from the bottom part of their roster and
- 31:46like their star players and Nathan McKinnon, I killed my car
- 31:50and your other studs are not able to deliver, It's really
- 31:52hard to win a playoff series. So I think Vegas just showing
- 31:56them what it looks like to have a team that everybody's
- 31:58contributing and you get above average goaltending from Carter
- 32:01Hart randomly in the playoffs and there you go, you're up 30
- 32:05against Colorado. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 32:07It's crazy that if Vegas wins the Cup, Mitch Marner is getting
- 32:12the cosmic like. Honestly I will be rooting for
- 32:16that just because of how much it will piss off Toronto fans or
- 32:18something of separate faction of Toronto fans that are like
- 32:23Mitch. Martin years.
- 32:24It's just it's insane this storyline that that just kind of
- 32:29came out of nowhere. But yeah, I think I think you
- 32:32look at Vegas roster and it's an incredible roster, right?
- 32:36Like. We knew that though.
- 32:37Yeah, honestly, I don't know. I thought Colorado was
- 32:41unstoppable. I didn't think Vegas was gonna
- 32:44roll over. I had Colorado in six and I
- 32:45would have believed Colorado in seven.
- 32:47Two. Yeah, I definitely didn't have
- 32:48Vegas in four. I don't think so.
- 32:50I I mean, even the biggest diehard Vegas fan, there's no
- 32:54way they had Vegas in four. No, I think this is just a shock
- 32:57to everyone. And it's very impressive what
- 33:01Vegas has been doing there. Like you said, getting
- 33:03contributions from all across the lineup.
- 33:05They're mean, Brett. Howard, how does the goat?
- 33:09It's crazy all these shorties and then look, yeah, sure,
- 33:13McKinnon got injured towards the end of last game, but what about
- 33:15game one and Game 2? Macy's back game, last game and
- 33:18and they come back from Game 2 or just last game?
- 33:20No, just last game, zero points. Like enough with the excuses.
- 33:25If your team is that good, you should be able to weather the
- 33:27storm and play through it and and at least win a single game.
- 33:32So it's look, the Habs have taken 24 shots over the past
- 33:36like two hours of. Hockey.
- 33:39And they still have a more wins this around than Colorado does.
- 33:43So it's a they're starting Blackwood tonight.
- 33:47First game of the series that he starting.
- 33:48I think it's kind of crazy to toss him in when you're down 3.
- 33:51Nothing. I think they should have done it
- 33:53in game three if they were going to do it at all.
- 33:55Or should. I But at this point you just try
- 33:57to get a spark somehow and get some juice into the lineup.
- 33:59Like he could stand on his head and have a great game.
- 34:02Yeah, I mean, you're just looking at all the comments and
- 34:05post game stuff and whatever, and Colorado just sounds like
- 34:08they've given up. Yeah, that's really what it
- 34:11sounds like. They're all like, yeah, you
- 34:12know. I mean, it's 30 to series, like,
- 34:14yeah, at a certain point you you're also looking in a
- 34:16history. And if I'm them, I'm trying to
- 34:19be fired up and be like, we're confident that we can win this
- 34:21next one and the next one and the next one and the next one.
- 34:23Yeah. But on the inside, they probably
- 34:25know that it's like it's over, right?
- 34:26Like 100. How many times does the team
- 34:28come back from 30 down? Yeah, especially against a team
- 34:31like Vegas. Yeah, The thing is that usually
- 34:33at least the team will pretend in their postgame and their
- 34:37media stuff, they'll say we're still in this.
- 34:38Whatever these guys, they're done.
- 34:40They're dead in the water. It's it's just baffling to see.
- 34:44I think to me, this is probably one of the shock biggest shocks
- 34:47in the playoffs in a long time. Not necessarily the outcome of
- 34:50Huan, just the way it happened. So I'm just kind of blown away
- 34:55by how this this round is going. I'm disappointed because I feel
- 34:59like the story of the series is going to be all Colorado.
- 35:02Got hurt in Vegas was like 1 because of that type of thing,
- 35:05which I don't feel like is the case at all.
- 35:06I think Vegas actually did completely outplay them and
- 35:10deserved all three of these. So like they were up 30IN game 3
- 35:17and you choked that like that's nobody's fault but you you had
- 35:21McKinnon on the ice, killed my car on the ice.
- 35:23Like there's no excuse to lose a game like that, especially after
- 35:26losing the 1st 2 at home. Yeah, at some point you like
- 35:29that's the that's the dagger in the in the brain.
- 35:31You're just you're dead after that one.
- 35:33All they had to do was not choke a three goal lead and it would
- 35:36be two, one series. But now it's 3 nothing and
- 35:38they're done. So it's over tonight.
- 35:42Tomorrow morning you will know if Colorado has gone swept or
- 35:46not, but we're recording tonight, yeah.
- 35:49What's your score prediction? Score prediction.
- 35:52I'm gonna say I'm going to say 52 Vegas with two empty netters.
- 36:00Yeah, um, hmm, I mean, listen, Colorado, leave it all out
- 36:05there, right? Is there any chance that they
- 36:08win like 5-1 or something? And Blackwood has like a 970 or
- 36:13980 and we're like, OK, like, they just gotta win the next one
- 36:17at home and then, you know, the next one away and.
- 36:20Then and then the next one at home.
- 36:23But there there will be a time like if you guys listening to
- 36:26this in Colorado one last night and let's say it was super 1
- 36:29sided, we're going to be like, OK, listen, this is a team that
- 36:32won the President's Trophy. Like they dominated these
- 36:35playoff series. Like maybe they're finally here
- 36:36to show up and we're going to give them good chances to, I
- 36:40mean, as good a chance as you can get to reverse sweep A-Team
- 36:43the Colorado will have because of the team that they were.
- 36:46But yeah, I don't I don't buy it.
- 36:47I think, I think this is over in game four-game five.
- 36:50I think, I think it goes to 5 though.
- 36:52I think Colorado. Online.
- 36:53New to beer? Bet that it's a sweep if you'd
- 36:55like to. We're doing beer bets.
- 36:57Now, I mean, look, we gotta, we gotta make it spicy a bit for
- 37:01for the viewers. What beer bet Colorado does not
- 37:07get swept? OK, cool.
- 37:09Alright, deal. Yeah, deal.
- 37:13Alright, we got to drink a beer for.
- 37:14This I know. And for those of you that don't
- 37:19know, we do beer best throughout the season where let's say we're
- 37:22kind of both on different sides of either a player take or a
- 37:25team take or something. We'll do a beer bet.
- 37:27And then after the playoffs, we're going to have our beer bet
- 37:30episode where we're going to tabulate all the beer bets we
- 37:32throughout the season. Then you got to drink as many
- 37:34beers as you lost bets. So Jakey lost the most bets
- 37:38last. Jakey lost the most best last
- 37:41year and I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but he did
- 37:45not drink all the beers that he had to drink so this year he's
- 37:49got drink double. Yeah, I like it.
- 37:51Yeah, yeah, no, I'm looking for that's gonna be a good episode.
- 37:55I'm gonna be in town in in about a month and we'll record it
- 37:59then. So it'll be right after the
- 38:01playoffs end and. Hypothetically, OK, OK for for
- 38:05all our Carolina files out there and all our Vegas finds out
- 38:08there, if that's the final that we end up getting, like who do
- 38:10you think is going to be the team that is gonna be the
- 38:12favorite in that? I'm taking Vegas there.
- 38:15Yeah. Yeah, I I just feel like even
- 38:20though the last two games Carolinas really stifled us, I
- 38:24just feel like 2 overtime games in that like when you're playing
- 38:29your game, your style, everything's going the way you
- 38:31want. You kept your opponent from
- 38:32shooting for 30 minutes and you still need to go to overtime to
- 38:35win. I bet you're going up against
- 38:37the hot goalie. But Carts playing just as well
- 38:39as Dobish is in this playoffs. So I think I think that I would
- 38:43give the edge to Vegas over Carolina.
- 38:46I definitely give the edge to Vegas because I think Vegas is a
- 38:49team that has a lot more experience and I just don't
- 38:53think Vegas is gonna be like shut down in terms of like
- 38:56getting shots on net. And I think Freddie is cooked.
- 38:59So I think if you're playing against a team that can get more
- 39:01than 12 shots on net, like you're in trouble.
- 39:03And I think Vegas is the team that can probably get at least
- 39:05twenty shots on net. So I think that's just a recipe
- 39:08for disaster for Carolina. Freddie is the Freddie that we
- 39:11all know. I can't emphasize how bad I
- 39:13think he is and. That's so bad.
- 39:14We talked about it. I know he said he was awful.
- 39:17Yeah, it's just it's crazy and that's what makes it so
- 39:20frustrating. Also, we have our goalie playing
- 39:22out of his mind that their goalie is playing terribly and
- 39:24we're still losing these games because we're not taking any
- 39:26shots. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 39:28But yeah, I definitely give the edge to Vegas there.
- 39:31But I do think Caroline's team is fantastic.
- 39:33I think they have terrible goaltending so.
- 39:35I think the goal thing is gonna be the difference in that in
- 39:37that matchup, if that's what potentially happens.
- 39:41Something tabs, yeah, big tabs. I feel like I feel like we'd
- 39:44have a better shot than Carolina would genuinely because I think
- 39:48the of the golden that we're getting and I think the system
- 39:51that we play, I don't think Vegas is as like defending
- 39:55defensively suffocating as Carolina and.
- 40:00I think that helps us out in terms of matchup wise, like what
- 40:03we match up against, so we don't have better odds.
- 40:05But Vegas is just I feel like a well oiled machine at this point
- 40:08and it just feels like it would take something tremendous stop
- 40:10them, like they got a completely follow up their rhythm and maybe
- 40:13Carolina gives them a run for their money at the Colorado
- 40:15gives them a run for their money at the end of this series that
- 40:18jumbles up some things for them, but it's so tough.
- 40:21The thing is I just I'm fighting narratives in my mind and I just
- 40:25I don't want John toward relative to win a Stanley Cup
- 40:30and but I do mount Mitchell Marner to win a Stanley Cup and
- 40:35I like Jarvis. I would love for him to have a
- 40:37Stanley Cup, but I don't want Rod Woody, Stanley Cup playing
- 40:41this way type of thing. So I don't know, it's just like
- 40:43a. Complete I know I know you mean
- 40:45and I I kind of agree that I feel like Montreal matches up
- 40:48better against Vegas the way I see it in terms of the
- 40:50Montreal's point of view, I view this Carolina series is very
- 40:52similar to the Tampa series where it's just very suffocating
- 40:56defence and it's hard for us to get anything going, but if we we
- 40:59can maybe like squeak through it and.
- 41:01Then. Yeah.
- 41:03And then I view a series versus Vegas more similar to our
- 41:05Buffalo series where it's going to be high scoring both ways and
- 41:09it's going to be big swings, but a lot of momentum.
- 41:11I think it's going to be more fun hockey.
- 41:13I think for neutrals, like neutral fans, I think a Vegas
- 41:16Montreal series would be a lot more entertaining than a Vegas
- 41:19Carolina. I just feel like Carolina plays
- 41:22not, I'm not going to say boring hockey, but just very defensive
- 41:26hockey and very shutting down there.
- 41:28It's kind of like a clinic. They're running a clinic on how
- 41:30to be a well oiled defensive machine and just doesn't lead to
- 41:34as much necessarily exciting moments of run and gun.
- 41:38But that doesn't mean it's worse hockey because defend honestly,
- 41:40what especially when your team, but also in general, watching
- 41:43great defence is very impressive, especially when you
- 41:45have a terrible either being able to like pull that off with
- 41:48the terrible goalie just makes it that much more impressive.
- 41:50So, so yeah. And obviously we're biased
- 41:53because we just want to see the Habs do it.
- 41:54So my, do you want to go? What's your what's your
- 41:57predictions for the rest of the playoffs?
- 42:00Vegas in five, Habs and seven and of the seven.
- 42:10And then I think, I think it's gonna be like Vegas in six.
- 42:13Wow. I know, I know.
- 42:15I. Had to my God.
- 42:17I just, if we're running out of juice, we're gonna use all the
- 42:19juice we have to get to 7 with Carolina.
- 42:21And then I just feel like we're, we're playing two weeks, we're
- 42:24playing two exhaustive hockey. I've got Vegas and four,
- 42:30obviously, because I made the beer bet.
- 42:32I got Habs in seven. Yeah.
- 42:35And then I've got tabs and 7/7. I wanna be there with you.
- 42:40I wanna be there with you. Has that happened where a team
- 42:43had has played all 28 games to win the Stanley Cup?
- 42:46It's gonna happen before. Let me look it up real quick.
- 42:49Give me some elevator music. To 222.
- 42:56What do you do? 222 dude 22 do do do do do do do
- 43:06do do do do. Do Nope, it's never happened.
- 43:11Wow, that would be a crazy a crazy record to break.
- 43:16First time most games played in a Stanley Cup run.
- 43:20Like I think the closest they're saying is the Kings in 2014,
- 43:25they want their first three series in in seven and then they
- 43:28want a Stanley Cup in 5. OK.
- 43:32Um, and improve the 2011 did the what did they won three-game
- 43:37sevens in the postseason against the haves, Tampa, Vancouver and
- 43:41the and then they won the Stanley Cup.
- 43:42So three out of four series game sevens I think is the Max.
- 43:47Well, look, if the haves have, if the haves want to beat
- 43:49Carolina, they at least have to do it in six because they've
- 43:51already lost 2. So it's most likely would be in
- 43:53seven. So they would be set up for for
- 43:55that, you know. Breaking history.
- 43:58That would be so cool. I can't imagine a Game 7 Stanley
- 44:02Cup with the haves involved. I'd be so stressed.
- 44:04The fact that we play 4 series, go to seven and have zero like
- 44:08home ice advantage in any of the series is also just like.
- 44:11I think we have home ice advantage against against Vegas,
- 44:14against Vegas. True.
- 44:15And I, I forgot for a moment that Colorado is not going to be
- 44:18the team. Yeah.
- 44:20Yeah, could you imagine Game 7 Stanley Cup finals at the Bell
- 44:24Centre? I mean, those tickets are.
- 44:27Going I was gonna say, how much do you think those tickets would
- 44:29be? Minimum $1500 minimum.
- 44:32My dad said that if have sync the finals that we're gonna go
- 44:35to a game together. So you're saying I'll watch from
- 44:38outside in the Avenue? They can and.
- 44:42I would not go outside honestly. Last night I was at work and my
- 44:49office is stuck to the Bell Centre so we hear like all the
- 44:51crowds and everything from like 4:00 PM and I did a watch party
- 44:54at the office with my coworkers and this in the game was at 8:00
- 44:59PM. I like logged off at like 5:30
- 45:01and then we like chit chat and play some games and whatever
- 45:03until the game was at the office until like 1131 overtime loss.
- 45:06So it felt horrible. But after the first, like right
- 45:09before the 1st intermission, like when there's like a couple
- 45:11minutes left in the first period, you can check
- 45:14Ticketmaster and see like people that like the scalpers and stuff
- 45:16that haven't sold their tickets that put them up.
- 45:19And there was like there was 4 tickets for like $200 apiece to
- 45:24go watch like the last two periods and potentially
- 45:26overtime. Yeah.
- 45:27And I looked at my coworker was like, are you guys down?
- 45:30And then two of them said yes. And the last one was like, I'm
- 45:32not sure whatever. Like within the minute they were
- 45:34gone. That's crazy.
- 45:36And then the only thing left for like $400.00 or something like
- 45:39I'm not paying $4.00 to watch like the last two periods or
- 45:41whatever. Yeah, but $200 was my limit.
- 45:43I would have been like that trigger, let's go.
- 45:45You're. Right there too.
- 45:46You could have just walked. Over.
- 45:47I just walked down and that's it but.
- 45:49Yeah, down. That's that's too bad.
- 45:51I'll keep an eye out tomorrow. We'll see.
- 45:53Yeah. I was watching just.
- 45:55I was watching on in my living room.
- 45:57Yeah. And I get so upset after the
- 46:00loss, right, that I literally can't go to bed.
- 46:03I had to toss on the sitcom even though I was exhausted.
- 46:05I've been exhausted for the past, like, a week and a half.
- 46:09Babies, you know, just being, being babies and baby.
- 46:13Yeah, exactly. And I'm just laying there.
- 46:15All I want to do is go to sleep. And I'm just like, I can't go to
- 46:18sleep with the last thing in my mind being this OT law.
- 46:21So I had to watch like two or three episodes of I just put on
- 46:24parks and Rec and and just watch, watch some of that to
- 46:27kind of cool my mind off because I was and then I and then I
- 46:29turned it off and start laying in bed.
- 46:30And obviously all I'm thinking about going, but at least it
- 46:33cools me down a bit. So yeah, hopefully, you know,
- 46:37the opposite side of the coin is when we go for a win, I don't go
- 46:40to bed right away because I'm just online reading everyone
- 46:42being like this on the coop, you know, and I have like 7.
- 46:45Half of those. Messages.
- 46:46Yeah exactly. I was like 7 different group
- 46:49chats and chats that I'm texting throughout the games and after
- 46:52when, you know, I always call my dad after a win because we
- 46:54usually watch the games together.
- 46:56But obviously I moved so, so you know, celebrate and and yeah, so
- 47:00it's a, it's a big difference in vibe for sure.
- 47:03And then I have to after a loss, I have to try and keep it in so
- 47:06I don't ruin Epi's night. And everybody else's night.
- 47:09Everyone else's night and yeah, it's a very dramatic over here.
- 47:15Uh, yeah. I mean, listen, hopefully we
- 47:17have some good news to talk about next episode and that's
- 47:20the only thing we can hope for at this point.
- 47:22Next episode is gonna be we're gonna record in about a week, so
- 47:26that means. Game 7 is on Tuesday, so we we
- 47:30usually record on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays depending
- 47:36on when when the Habs games are lining up and schedule wise.
- 47:40So if it's going to game seven, we're probably going to end up
- 47:43recording after that game. So it'll probably be Wednesday,
- 47:47like next Wednesday, and then the episode will go live on
- 47:50Thursday. So if it goes to Game 7, that's
- 47:52what you can expect and we'll have a lot to talk about then.
- 47:55But listen, if the series is over before then, you'll hear
- 47:58from us sooner, so. Yeah, I guess I.
- 48:01Guess it depends on how how much you guys are looking forward to
- 48:05hearing our voices once again. Yeah, but.
- 48:08Yeah, it's it's just gonna be a wild ride.
- 48:10Hopefully have some good news talk about but she made it this
- 48:13far. We really appreciated everybody.
- 48:14Thanks for rocking with us during the off season.
- 48:16And we know you don't gotta be here, but we're happy you are.
- 48:19Make sure you drop us a follow on everywhere again.
- 48:21I'm gonna go the whole spiel. Spotify, Apple, Discord,
- 48:25YouTube, you know where to find us at this point.
- 48:27And we really appreciate all the support.
- 48:30Hopefully send us some good vibes and let us know in the
- 48:32comments of wherever you're watching it or listening to
- 48:34this, who you think is going to win the Stanley Cup this point.
- 48:37I know we're halfway through these semifinal matchups, but
- 48:40let us know who you guys got lifting the trophy this year and
- 48:44hopefully it's the Habs. But the yeah, on that note, take
- 48:48it away, Ernie. Babbit about Bound banger
- 48:52management fantasy hockey podcast.
- 48:54Woo. Woo and a wolf from Jacob.
- 49:00Man, when's that guy gonna be back?
- 49:02I don't know man.
