- 0:34Speaker 3: getting in the day started.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, coffee out there? You had some phills? Coffee yet?
- 0:41Speaker 4: No, I have a man, all right, you gotta go
- 0:46Speaker 4: the illy, all right, go get you some phills while
- 0:50Speaker 4: you're out on the West coast. Man, Is that a
- 0:54Speaker 4: Ducks Unlimited hat?
- 0:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 0:56Speaker 3: I have a friend that runs his own company. It's
- 1:02Speaker 3: called Heats Outdoors up in on Washington Island in Wisconsin.
- 1:07Speaker 3: And then he uh, he works for Ducks un Limited
- 1:11Speaker 3: as well. He said, the boys and packages and stuff,
- 1:15Speaker 3: and I passed out a bunch of hats.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Sweet. Is that where the Barnaveld Wisconsin hats are coming from?
- 1:23Speaker 2: I don't know about that one.
- 1:24Speaker 1: No, okay, I don't. I don't. I like I seen
- 1:26Speaker 1: like three guys wearing a barnavild Wisconsin hat. Yeah. No,
- 1:31Speaker 1: I don't know what that is.
- 1:32Speaker 3: I don't even hunt or anything like that. I of
- 1:35Speaker 3: fish a little bit, but that's about it.
- 1:37Speaker 4: I was gonna ask. I mean, you're an Indiana guy.
- 1:39Speaker 4: You still go back home in the offseason Indiana.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I just bought a house there and getting life started
- 1:46Speaker 3: and got five acres and just gonna roll with it.
- 1:50Speaker 5: And no hunting. Just man, that's a great deer hunting
- 1:54Speaker 5: up there.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Man, my brother in laws do that for me. I
- 1:57Speaker 2: don't have to do that.
- 1:59Speaker 1: You take the meat.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's he That's the best kind of hunting
- 2:03Speaker 5: right there.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah right, I love it.
- 2:05Speaker 5: That's why I bring my uncle hunting. He doesn't like
- 2:07Speaker 5: to taste of deer. He just likes shooting.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Them, even even in the off season.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Like as far as I like the farm too.
- 2:22Speaker 3: My cousins, their grandma owns a lot of property, and
- 2:28Speaker 3: whether it's picking corn or you know, picking beans and stuff.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I'm out there, you know, helping out when I can.
- 2:35Speaker 3: So you know, it just depends on when the season ends.
- 2:38Speaker 4: So yeah, beans, soybean, yeah, soybeans?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Nice? Oh yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 4: My grandparents in law, grandparents in laws, I guess grandparents
- 2:50Speaker 4: in laws.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah, they're up in Iowa. They got farms up there.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Yeah, sweet corn, and dude, I've got so much respect
- 2:57Speaker 4: for that. I had no idea what goes into it.
- 3:00Speaker 4: I mean all of that corn that you see, the
- 3:04Speaker 4: sweet corn, you get one sweet corn?
- 3:06Speaker 1: Per is it? Is it per stock stock? Yeah? Really
- 3:11Speaker 1: it's worth it. Man.
- 3:12Speaker 4: That sweet corn up there is so good.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And my grandpa he runs a he runs his own
- 3:18Speaker 3: garden and he has like two or three batches he plants.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Uh it's like plants the first batch and then ten
- 3:26Speaker 3: days later he'll plant a second batch, and then ten
- 3:28Speaker 3: days later he plants a third one.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I just had some of his first batch. It was
- 3:33Speaker 2: pretty good. So all right, I'm looking forward to getting
- 3:36Speaker 2: his second batch.
- 3:38Speaker 1: When you're when you're done with baseball, do you think
- 3:40Speaker 1: you would farm?
- 3:44Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:44Speaker 3: It definitely runs runs on my cousin's side, you know.
- 3:52Speaker 3: He my one of my cousins is he sells seed
- 3:58Speaker 3: and then also runs of farm and stuff. So uh,
- 4:03Speaker 3: maybe at some point, I don't know, if I'm bored, you.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Know, uh yeah, yeah, hey.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Definitely it suits me, but it doesn't you know what
- 4:13Speaker 2: I mean.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think it's anything that I would want to,
- 4:17Speaker 3: you know, specialize by the rest of my life.
- 4:19Speaker 4: And it's time consuming, and I mean, you know, luckily
- 4:23Speaker 4: there's a lot of people out there that are providing
- 4:25Speaker 4: for the world.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Man.
- 4:26Speaker 5: So yeah, for sure, Hey, we appreciate.
- 4:29Speaker 1: It all man.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Plus student farming, especially in this day and age now
- 4:33Speaker 4: with how expensive everything is. You got everything on five acres.
- 4:37Speaker 4: You can have everything right there.
- 4:38Speaker 1: That's perfect, right.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I'll tell you what most peaceful moment of my entire
- 4:43Speaker 3: life is sitting attracted by yourself.
- 4:48Speaker 1: A lot. I know that I don't have a track.
- 4:51Speaker 5: I got a skits here and yeah that skits here.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Man, I'll go out there and dude, I'll just sitting
- 4:56Speaker 4: there for a little bit.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Like what do I want to move right now? I don't.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I don't know. I got I got.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Options, I got a lot of thoughts going on.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's it is.
- 5:04Speaker 4: It's soothing, man, cow guy, Oh yeah, you got cattle.
- 5:09Speaker 1: No, I hate these cows. Man. I don't have.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Exempt property, but I got these clouds that I can't get.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Off, and I don't want them.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Mm hmm. Yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 4: I like my deer, so cows just tear everything up.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Yeah, Kurt knows.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It's it's a constant battle. Man.
- 5:28Speaker 4: If you know anything about cows, there ain't anything they
- 5:31Speaker 4: won't eat and tear up. Yeah, they away from them.
- 5:38Speaker 6: Let's talk fathletics, shall we. They have apparel for every season.
- 5:43Speaker 6: We're wearing it as we talk about it. It's soft,
- 5:45Speaker 6: it's comfortable. I wear it on the show sometimes on FT.
- 5:48Speaker 6: What else do you love about it?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Crats?
- 5:50Speaker 7: Well, I have it on right now and I'm all
- 5:53Speaker 7: about quality. But you know what, you know how good
- 5:56Speaker 7: your clothes are when you're a parent and your kids
- 5:59Speaker 7: keep dealing all of it. My daughter stole the sweatshirt.
- 6:03Speaker 7: My son sold one of my t shirts. So it's
- 6:05Speaker 7: got to be nice looking.
- 6:07Speaker 6: And if it gets a little bit chillier then it's
- 6:09Speaker 6: layering season and they've got layers for the fall. Shop
- 6:13Speaker 6: now at fabletics dot com, slash foul to get seventy
- 6:16Speaker 6: to eighty percent off everything when you sign up as
- 6:19Speaker 6: a new VIP. Take a quick style quiz and be
- 6:21Speaker 6: sure to select foul when prompted to unlock this offer.
- 6:26Speaker 6: This is a limited time offer, so do not wait again.
- 6:29Speaker 6: That's Fabletics dot Com slash foul for seventy to eighty
- 6:34Speaker 6: percent off everything as a new VIP.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Well, I know nothing about farming, but a little bit
- 6:42Speaker 1: about just a little bit about baseball, Chad, Let's let's
- 6:46Speaker 1: get into some of that. I know you've been doing
- 6:48Speaker 1: this transition to the bullpen for a while. We've I've
- 6:51Speaker 1: talked to you about it. Feel like in May or
- 6:54Speaker 1: whatever that was, that was tot topic. Now that you're
- 6:58Speaker 1: you're fully in the bullpen, I I haven't asked you like, like,
- 7:02Speaker 1: how has how has it been now that that like
- 7:05Speaker 1: that's its set transition at least for the rest of
- 7:07Speaker 1: the year. Like what do you see yourself moving forward?
- 7:11Speaker 1: Do you think you're started moving forward? Do you like
- 7:13Speaker 1: this bullpen? This role? Just just sort of take me
- 7:15Speaker 1: through all of that.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 3: At first, you know, it was one of those things
- 7:23Speaker 3: where we're just you know, we're rolling with whatever the
- 7:28Speaker 3: team needed, you know, and you know, I was super
- 7:32Speaker 3: pumped about it is a different opportunity for me to
- 7:37Speaker 3: you know, find myself again, just confidence wise. I wasn't
- 7:42Speaker 3: really having too much of that going on, and then
- 7:45Speaker 3: went in the bullpen and figure some things out, and
- 7:49Speaker 3: you know, my stuff plays up a little bit more
- 7:52Speaker 3: out of the pen, don't really you know, as far
- 7:59Speaker 3: as facing hitters, I don't see him, you know, three times, so.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I think that helps me.
- 8:05Speaker 3: But as far as you know, starting goes, I want
- 8:11Speaker 3: to obviously get you know, stay that way and with
- 8:15Speaker 3: that mentality, but understanding that this is my new role.
- 8:24Speaker 4: I mean you haven't obviously you know when you first
- 8:27Speaker 4: got transitioned over seeing what Murphy was doing was really
- 8:32Speaker 4: keeping you not like starter, I guess length, but you
- 8:38Speaker 4: still kept that length right, you were still coming in.
- 8:40Speaker 4: You'd go three innings, four innings, and then you know,
- 8:44Speaker 4: it was almost like it was a repetition. You know,
- 8:46Speaker 4: then on your bullpen day you're still getting in going
- 8:49Speaker 4: like what one inning to one on a third. So
- 8:53Speaker 4: but now it looks like it's kind of tapered off
- 8:55Speaker 4: a little bit. You're not getting those you know, three
- 8:57Speaker 4: inning saves coming in, so now it's more of getting
- 9:00Speaker 4: your back to backs in and it's looking like you know,
- 9:05Speaker 4: when Hayter was there, when he first got called up,
- 9:08Speaker 4: that's kind of how his role was, right, He'd go
- 9:09Speaker 4: two innings, one an the next day day off and
- 9:12Speaker 4: then back kind of back to that are you. You're
- 9:15Speaker 4: getting more and more comfortable, I guess going back to backs.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Now and yeah, like you said, just that build up,
- 9:24Speaker 3: like I was built up and then we kind of
- 9:26Speaker 3: ran into it into it in San Francisco where you know,
- 9:31Speaker 3: I had that long inning prior it was my second
- 9:36Speaker 3: up and we got through the long inning and then
- 9:41Speaker 3: you know, I kind of blamed myself a little bit,
- 9:43Speaker 3: uh probably mentally drained a little bit and wasn't hadn't
- 9:48Speaker 3: done that. I think the last long I mean I
- 9:51Speaker 3: had before that was in Arizona, and you know, so
- 9:57Speaker 3: I ran into that issue on the next inning and
- 10:00Speaker 3: you know, kind of imploded the team a little bit there.
- 10:04Speaker 3: And so you know, just kind of understanding your body
- 10:08Speaker 3: and you know this game's.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Up here though.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Oh yeah, if you're using a lot of your brain
- 10:15Speaker 3: and thinking and stuff, it becomes draining and you got
- 10:18Speaker 3: to understand where your levels.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Are at, of course, and we've talked about that mental
- 10:24Speaker 1: side of it too. What have you learned? What have
- 10:26Speaker 1: you done this year to kind of you know, take
- 10:28Speaker 1: steps forward, find out like what the mental space that
- 10:32Speaker 1: you need to be in as simple as just like
- 10:36Speaker 1: not thinking and kind of how do you how do
- 10:39Speaker 1: you actually this feels like that's easier said than done.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:44Speaker 3: You know, I think as a starter, we do these
- 10:48Speaker 3: meetings and go over the hitters, and I think I
- 10:52Speaker 3: was letting that affect me. I was, you know, thinking
- 10:55Speaker 3: about the name too much instead of thinking about you
- 10:58Speaker 3: know who who's uh, you know, a rightier left instead
- 11:03Speaker 3: of you know, you're thinking about a right or lefting
- 11:05Speaker 3: instead of the name.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think I was doing a bad job
- 11:11Speaker 2: of that. And now I've simplified everything.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I don't think about it as much as far as
- 11:21Speaker 3: you know who's in the box. It's a righty er
- 11:23Speaker 3: lefty to me, and I'm coming at you with my
- 11:26Speaker 3: best stuff. And that's just been a big key is
- 11:30Speaker 3: just being able to pound the zone as good as
- 11:33Speaker 3: I can. Ran into a problem yesterday, I couldn't throw
- 11:37Speaker 3: a strike. Luckily enough got the double playing. You know,
- 11:40Speaker 3: it'll still give us a chance. But you know, those
- 11:44Speaker 3: are those are things you think about and you move
- 11:46Speaker 3: on to the next day. Though.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that's the beauty of the bullpen man. You know,
- 11:53Speaker 4: get over it because you're getting back in there tomorrow.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Right. That's just that's how it is.
- 11:58Speaker 4: And I know I'm sure for you sometimes like starting right,
- 12:02Speaker 4: maybe you you might have a couple of innings, a
- 12:06Speaker 4: couple of pitches where you wish you would have back
- 12:08Speaker 4: starting Well, now you got to wait five days to
- 12:10Speaker 4: really like get over that and get through it and
- 12:12Speaker 4: get back into it. Now you got four days to
- 12:14Speaker 4: really think about it. Which yeah, as a bullpen guy,
- 12:18Speaker 4: it's you know, you can think about it after you're outing.
- 12:20Speaker 4: But I see with you right now, I mean, obviously
- 12:25Speaker 4: you're a guy that pounds the zone. You got your
- 12:26Speaker 4: three fastballs and you got your slider, but again, you
- 12:30Speaker 4: haven't you know, you haven't used.
- 12:32Speaker 1: It as much.
- 12:33Speaker 4: I feel like as when you were starting. You know
- 12:35Speaker 4: it was there was moments where it looked like you
- 12:38Speaker 4: were trying to go to it. But now, I mean, dude,
- 12:39Speaker 4: it's that cutter right now is on another level.
- 12:44Speaker 1: From what I'm seeing out of the bullpen with you, And.
- 12:48Speaker 4: I mean, dude, from my from my perspective, I love
- 12:52Speaker 4: seeing I love seeing Chad Patrick out of the bullpen.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Just just saying, and I know, obviously, you know you've
- 12:58Speaker 4: been a start of your whole career Arizona, lynd and Nashville,
- 13:02Speaker 4: and then now you know last year with the Brewers
- 13:04Speaker 4: and now this year.
- 13:05Speaker 5: But obviously it's starting.
- 13:09Speaker 4: You know, can also give you those I don't know,
- 13:12Speaker 4: I guess the will to start pounding the zone. And
- 13:15Speaker 4: now I've seen some of the best starters come into
- 13:18Speaker 4: the pen and they do exactly what you're doing now.
- 13:21Speaker 4: So I think you got a great, great mentality for
- 13:25Speaker 4: the bullpen.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Man, Yeah, I appreciate it.
- 13:29Speaker 4: So, yeah, I wanted to ask you a couple of
- 13:32Speaker 4: questions about obviously some of your splits pitching in Milwaukee.
- 13:38Speaker 5: Is there is there any place like?
- 13:41Speaker 1: Man?
- 13:41Speaker 4: I mean, obviously you're splits at home this year versus away.
- 13:44Speaker 4: It's not like two huge, But dude, it looks like
- 13:48Speaker 4: you love pitching in Milwaukee.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Huh.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 13:53Speaker 3: I was telling you know when we had mc kohlers,
- 13:57Speaker 3: he's setting never pitched in Milwaukee. I said, Dude, I
- 14:01Speaker 3: don't know what it is.
- 14:02Speaker 8: Anytime I'm on that mound, like that specific mound, it's
- 14:07Speaker 8: like a jolt of electricity runs through my body and
- 14:11Speaker 8: like I'll be throwing in the bullpen and.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I'll be like, man, it doesn't feel good, and I
- 14:14Speaker 2: get on that mound. It's like I feel like four.
- 14:16Speaker 3: You know, it's just coming out like a little harder,
- 14:19Speaker 3: and I'm like, where's that coming from?
- 14:21Speaker 1: You know?
- 14:23Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean I'm throwing, you know, the hardest
- 14:26Speaker 3: I've probably thrown in my career.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So far.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And I give a lot of credit to our our
- 14:34Speaker 3: guys in the weight room, Jason Meredith and jose Salas.
- 14:40Speaker 3: They do a great job with everyone and making sure
- 14:45Speaker 3: guys are getting in there getting their lifts in. And
- 14:47Speaker 3: you know, we take the attention and focus it on
- 14:52Speaker 3: certain things that you're gonna do on the mound with
- 14:55Speaker 3: mechanical things, and I think that's helped a lot. And
- 14:59Speaker 3: I give a lot of credit to my college coach
- 15:03Speaker 3: because I didn't lift in college because see he exempted
- 15:07Speaker 3: it for me, which is kind of funny. But yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 3: it's just one of those things.
- 15:14Speaker 1: You know.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Milwaukee is it's a great, great place for me, and
- 15:18Speaker 2: it feels like home.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I'm super close to home, so I just I feel
- 15:24Speaker 3: comfortable on them on there.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I got I got a question for you about an
- 15:29Speaker 1: outing at home, but we'll get to that right in
- 15:31Speaker 1: one second. We'll take a quick break and we'll right
- 15:33Speaker 1: back to get more from Chad.
- 15:36Speaker 2: This is that time of year.
- 15:37Speaker 6: Aj it is Baseball's time to shine, and it is
- 15:41Speaker 6: see Geek's time to shine with MLB tickets and finding
- 15:45Speaker 6: the best pricing, seating and games that are even sold
- 15:49Speaker 6: out available on sea Geek.
- 15:52Speaker 9: Absolutely if you want to go to the biggest matchups
- 15:54Speaker 9: coming up, we have Yankees clubs coming up.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Where's Yankees red sox? That means stuff.
- 15:58Speaker 9: Again, there's some big moments that are come up here
- 16:00Speaker 9: in the as the pena chases really heat up. Go

- 16:33Speaker 6: and have the code automatically added to your account so
- 16:35Speaker 6: you can use it later.
- 16:38Speaker 1: All right, Chad, let's go back in time to last October.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You probably know what I'm getting. I don't know if
- 16:43Speaker 1: I've ever talked to you about the Game five appearance
- 16:47Speaker 1: where I'll be honest, I started rewriting my story in
- 16:53Speaker 1: the sixth inning when I think what two guys were
- 16:55Speaker 1: two guys on? Yeah, when you came in, I was like, well,
- 16:59Speaker 1: this feels like about to go south. There weren't a
- 17:02Speaker 1: ton of Cubs fans that, like, I mean not compared
- 17:04Speaker 1: to the regular season. There were still Cubs fans there,
- 17:06Speaker 1: but you could like feel the crowd was they were
- 17:09Speaker 1: getting into it. Take me through that inning? And was
- 17:13Speaker 1: that was that cutter? The back door cutter? The best
- 17:15Speaker 1: pitch you've ever thrown? Yeah?
- 17:22Speaker 2: What a game?
- 17:24Speaker 3: I thought, sayah, you know, hit one in the gap
- 17:27Speaker 3: there For a second, it wasn't really a good cutter
- 17:32Speaker 3: to him, but you know, I thought it was a
- 17:36Speaker 3: basement and I was like, damn, you know, and then
- 17:39Speaker 3: Chario was was playing that way and which is great. So, uh,
- 17:44Speaker 3: then we get to happen. I'd already I already played
- 17:47Speaker 3: the scenario out. I already did it. You know, I'd
- 17:50Speaker 3: already done it, and I knew I could do it
- 17:52Speaker 3: again because I think I did it in Game three.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so sounds right.
- 18:01Speaker 3: So there was the same situation, and I knew that
- 18:07Speaker 3: the sequence had to be a little different, and yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 3: I threw it on the back side and.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I was like, I was like, take it taking.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I knew he was taking the whole way. I could
- 18:19Speaker 3: see it like after I released it, that he was
- 18:22Speaker 3: taking it.
- 18:23Speaker 1: And uh, you just needed it, You just needed it
- 18:26Speaker 1: to get there. Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It was just a great moment, and you know, I
- 18:32Speaker 2: was super fired up.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And then you had to go back out though.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, there's a lot of energy there.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You know, there is something.
- 18:43Speaker 2: There's something with me.
- 18:44Speaker 3: There's something that there's like a dial in me sometimes
- 18:48Speaker 3: and it's like a steam engine. Man, It's like or
- 18:52Speaker 3: a teapot. You know, it's about to explode. Just I
- 18:58Speaker 3: try to keep it mellow, you know, and calm, but
- 19:02Speaker 3: there are times where I can show some emotion.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Yeah, especially in that situation.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Man, playoffs, you were electric right there in the NLDS
- 19:12Speaker 4: and obviously got some time in the NLCS two against
- 19:16Speaker 4: the Dodgers, and I mean, dude, it's it's not easy
- 19:20Speaker 4: to pitch in those environments, man, and and you definitely performed.
- 19:24Speaker 4: So I mean, look, it's obviously facing the Cubs all year.
- 19:32Speaker 5: That is the rival for the Brewers.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I know for me, you know, in the bullpen, I
- 19:38Speaker 4: always had three guys in my mind, no matter who
- 19:41Speaker 4: I was facing, what team, I was always facing Javier Baiaz, Rizzo,
- 19:47Speaker 4: and Chris Bryant. Those are my three because I know
- 19:49Speaker 4: I've faced them so many times. I knew how to
- 19:52Speaker 4: pitch and all three of them were different types of pitches.
- 19:56Speaker 4: You know, Rizzo's inside, Chris Bryant's inside, and so I
- 20:00Speaker 4: feel like those three guys is really what like thrived
- 20:03Speaker 4: me on every hitter that I faced.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Do you have those you know now that you're.
- 20:08Speaker 4: In the bullpen, right you try and say you're not
- 20:10Speaker 4: looking at the name, You're just looking at righty, lefty right.
- 20:14Speaker 1: It makes it a lot easier.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Do you have those three guys in your mind that
- 20:18Speaker 4: you know you're always gonna be successful against them, you.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Know how to pitch them.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Do you have Do you have any guys like that?
- 20:28Speaker 1: I think it just depends on the series.
- 20:33Speaker 3: I know that I'm like my role is like the
- 20:36Speaker 3: bridge gat like I'm bridging it, yeah, you know, trying
- 20:41Speaker 3: to get it and get it to you know, Ashby.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Or you're able to gil with the score is staying
- 20:49Speaker 2: the same.
- 20:50Speaker 3: So I always like try to like, you know, it's
- 20:53Speaker 3: probably gonna be a third time through, so it's probably
- 20:56Speaker 3: gonna be on the two, three, four hitters if that's
- 21:00Speaker 3: situation calls for it. And then I try to see
- 21:04Speaker 3: the pockets and see who's on the bench. So, yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 3: I'm studying my sheet out there. I'm looking at the
- 21:12Speaker 3: card that we have, Yeah, and I'm watching how our.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Pitchers are pitching to him.
- 21:18Speaker 3: You know, I was like, how watching Bryce Wilson because
- 21:24Speaker 3: we kind of have the same mixer of pitches, and
- 21:27Speaker 3: I was just trying to see how he was pitching
- 21:29Speaker 3: some of these riotings and lefties the night before.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Against the Padres. And you know, those.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Are things that we look at on the iPad too,
- 21:39Speaker 3: which is nice to you know, watch some sequences down
- 21:42Speaker 3: there and kind of figure out, you know, we're just
- 21:46Speaker 3: swinging miss you know, stuff like that.
- 21:49Speaker 1: It feels like you face the top of I mean
- 21:51Speaker 1: it makes sense in the division face the top of
- 21:53Speaker 1: the Cardinals and the top of the Cubs orders a
- 21:56Speaker 1: lot like app Bush Jordan Walker. Feels like those are
- 22:00Speaker 1: kind of the guys that you're asked to face a
- 22:03Speaker 1: lot and that's that's I mean, like that, that's the job.
- 22:06Speaker 1: But that's not not an easy ask. Ye here coming
- 22:10Speaker 1: and and face the best hitters on the other team
- 22:14Speaker 1: the first time out of out of the bullpen. That
- 22:18Speaker 1: doesn't seem like it would be an easy, easy ask.
- 22:20Speaker 3: But I mean I just think, yeah, like Murph just
- 22:27Speaker 3: trusted me to go out there and get those guys out.
- 22:31Speaker 1: So yeah, you do your study. Man.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I think that's what the Brewers are starting to get
- 22:37Speaker 4: a lot better at now over the years, is they're
- 22:40Speaker 4: realizing it's not just all right, we need this guy
- 22:42Speaker 4: to go, you know, Bridge, we need this guy to
- 22:44Speaker 4: go the sixth, the seventh, the eighth, the ninth, whatever it's.
- 22:49Speaker 4: You know, I'm noticing like the Dodgers obviously, you know,
- 22:52Speaker 4: they're they've always been on the top, and they have
- 22:55Speaker 4: their bullpen where it's they have these guys where here's
- 22:58Speaker 4: these three guys you're probably gonna face really no matter
- 23:01Speaker 4: what inning it is. When it might come up in
- 23:03Speaker 4: the fifth, it might come up in the eighth, So
- 23:05Speaker 4: just be ready for these three guys. And it almost
- 23:08Speaker 4: seems like for you, right it's there's been times so
- 23:11Speaker 4: you've been bridging. But look, there's gonna be a situation
- 23:15Speaker 4: where these are your three guys that Murph's got you
- 23:17Speaker 4: locked in for and you've had those eighth innings, you've
- 23:21Speaker 4: had those the saves. You know, it's it's been it's
- 23:25Speaker 4: been pretty elite to watch man.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you also about your saves.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Obviously, I know you you started, you know everything, but
- 23:34Speaker 4: you got that first three inning save, got some blinking
- 23:38Speaker 4: on Minnesota.
- 23:41Speaker 1: That was a foreig inning, one run, one run. The
- 23:45Speaker 1: whole time.
- 23:46Speaker 4: We were talking about like, dang, I'm pretty sure that
- 23:48Speaker 4: was just his first saver right there. So did you
- 23:51Speaker 4: get you get a shower or anything? They throw some beer?
- 23:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, everybody else is getting the beer ranch shed.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Chad, they banned it, you know, they banned the ketchup
- 24:04Speaker 3: and mustard I had. I was the last one last
- 24:07Speaker 3: year to get the beans to ketch up and you know,
- 24:12Speaker 3: vinegar and all that stuff, and they didn't want to
- 24:16Speaker 3: have the cleanup no more. And then we were on
- 24:19Speaker 3: the road and of course they know all these other rookies,
- 24:23Speaker 3: you know, they get getting these nice, you know, warm
- 24:26Speaker 3: beer showers, and then Chad he's getting everything.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I was.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Like, of course, I'm like withdrawing in this in this
- 24:35Speaker 3: like caged laundry basket, and I'm just like, I did
- 24:38Speaker 3: not want to go in here.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Here we go again.
- 24:42Speaker 3: It gives it gives the boys some excitement, yeah, you know,
- 24:45Speaker 3: and that's what it's all about. So yeah, this team
- 24:49Speaker 3: is really close together, and I like being, you know,
- 24:53Speaker 3: the team. I call myself the team calm because I
- 24:56Speaker 3: talked to everyone.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Who I was gonna say, who's the who is the
- 25:00Speaker 1: funniest or who who talks the most down there in
- 25:03Speaker 1: the bullpen.
- 25:04Speaker 3: In the bullpen, Abner Yeah, yeah, he's always talking, you know,
- 25:13Speaker 3: whether it's in Spanish or English, he's talking to you,
- 25:16Speaker 3: you know. Uh, him and him and Charlie go at
- 25:19Speaker 3: it all the time. It's like Charlie's son, you know. Yeah,
- 25:23Speaker 3: it's neat. It's neat to watch.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys got a lot of talkers down there. Man,
- 25:29Speaker 1: d l that guy can that guy can run it.
- 25:32Speaker 1: But Gil, we know that guy likes to talk. You.
- 25:35Speaker 1: You're a talker.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Charlie is the talker to man, it's not to have
- 25:40Speaker 4: the bullpen coach.
- 25:41Speaker 1: That's the talking.
- 25:42Speaker 4: He's bilingual, right, is he like fluent.
- 25:44Speaker 1: He.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Knows some Spanish.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I think it's pretty good. He's pretty good. He's pretty good.
- 25:51Speaker 5: But he comes off it's like he is fluent. I
- 25:54Speaker 5: mean he's he does yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 1: And he and most importantly is like it's I feel
- 26:00Speaker 1: like he knows how to give it. He knows how
- 26:02Speaker 1: to give the shit in Spanish, which is really all
- 26:06Speaker 1: you need. That's all you need on a baseball team.
- 26:10Speaker 1: All right, let's take our last quick break. We'll come
- 26:12Speaker 1: back with some more some more questions for Chad.
- 26:18Speaker 6: Science experiment. For the one minute, we have to tell
- 26:20Speaker 6: you about why we love quints electrolytes including watermelon salt,
- 26:23Speaker 6: raspberry salt. And I'm holding a citrus salt, just opened
- 26:27Speaker 6: it and to pour some powder into my water, shake
- 26:29Speaker 6: it up, and AJ, why do you love it?
- 26:31Speaker 9: I love quints because after a long night out, a
- 26:33Speaker 9: long day at the gym, a long walk in this
- 26:35Speaker 9: Florida humidity, it tastes great and it gives me all
- 26:38Speaker 9: the electrolytes I need. Why sugar free steavy a free
- 26:42Speaker 9: keto approve and taste sweet because of that delicious fermented rice.
- 26:49Speaker 6: It does taste really good. I'm drinking it right now
- 26:52Speaker 6: while we talking about it. It's also made in the USA,

- 27:12Speaker 6: This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or
- 27:14Speaker 6: prevent any disease.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Shadow. We usually like to wrap it up with our
- 27:19Speaker 1: player guests with light, lighthearted questions as well as I
- 27:22Speaker 1: like to know a little bit more about guys backgrounds
- 27:26Speaker 1: and college and stuff, and yours is obviously very unique
- 27:29Speaker 1: going to Purdue Northwest, that's correct, right, yeah? Yeah? So
- 27:34Speaker 1: what was your recruitment? Like, how did how did you
- 27:37Speaker 1: end up there? I'm not not sure. A lot of
- 27:40Speaker 1: guys get drafted out of there. Why did you stick
- 27:43Speaker 1: around instead of, you know, maybe jump into a bigger
- 27:45Speaker 1: d one And obviously I think, yeah, right, your number,
- 27:47Speaker 1: your number got retired there, So what does that place
- 27:51Speaker 1: mean to you?
- 27:54Speaker 2: Yeah? In high school, I was just you know, I
- 27:58Speaker 2: played center field.
- 28:00Speaker 3: You know, I was doing it all infield whatever, but
- 28:03Speaker 3: you know, I really love liked pitching. And this recruiter
- 28:09Speaker 3: is his name is Dave Waddell. He was recruiting UH
- 28:14Speaker 3: school in South Bend, and then he switched the Pretty
- 28:18Speaker 3: Northwest because it was closer to home.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Uh.
- 28:20Speaker 2: He actually works in the mills with my dad.
- 28:23Speaker 3: So, uh, he brought me in to throw in front
- 28:27Speaker 3: of the coach there, Dave Griffin and Shane Prance was
- 28:31Speaker 3: a pitching coach there who's now one of my good friends.
- 28:37Speaker 2: So basically threw in front of front of him at a.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Shop and then I made a video about you know,
- 28:45Speaker 3: like a video on me pitching, and I posted it
- 28:49Speaker 3: and then like a day later, I just decided that
- 28:51Speaker 3: I was gonna go to Predue Northwest is it.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Got a got a good offer, and I thought, why not?
- 28:59Speaker 2: And then I went to school there for four years.
- 29:03Speaker 3: The reason why I didn't leave is because I was
- 29:07Speaker 3: I was playing and I was developing, and.
- 29:11Speaker 2: You know, I got to go play summer ball for the.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Northwest Indiana Oilmen, and then the following year went to
- 29:19Speaker 3: Traverse City, Michigan.
- 29:20Speaker 2: And played the North Woods League, and I did that
- 29:23Speaker 2: two summers in a row.
- 29:25Speaker 3: And then this Hunter Brown was in uh he's with
- 29:31Speaker 3: the Astros. He was in my conference. He went to
- 29:36Speaker 3: Wayne State. In one game we pitched against each other
- 29:41Speaker 3: in our conference tournament. That's kind of where where I
- 29:45Speaker 3: got some acknowledgment and from some scouts. And then the
- 29:51Speaker 3: following years when I got all the scouts to come
- 29:55Speaker 3: to our game.
- 29:56Speaker 1: So I had.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Some illegal offers that you know, they're like other coaches
- 30:03Speaker 3: in Texan and but at the end of the day,
- 30:08Speaker 3: that's not what it was about to me. It was
- 30:09Speaker 3: about being loyal and faithful and trust trustworthy of where
- 30:15Speaker 3: my feet were. And you know, I enjoyed my time there,
- 30:20Speaker 3: enjoyed my teammates.
- 30:23Speaker 2: It was it's a grindy place. You don't you don't
- 30:26Speaker 2: have a locker room.
- 30:28Speaker 3: You know, you don't even have an indoor facility, you
- 30:32Speaker 3: have to like we rented out from the him.
- 30:35Speaker 2: And Sports place there.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Wow.
- 30:38Speaker 3: So it's kind of one of those deals where you know,
- 30:42Speaker 3: I love where I'm from and I just wanted to
- 30:46Speaker 3: prove to myself that.
- 30:49Speaker 2: No matter what happens, you give you your best foot.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Forward and.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I've always believed that I could make it this far.
- 30:57Speaker 5: I mean, that's proof they're gonna find you to where
- 31:00Speaker 5: you are.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, Corey. Did you guys rent out of
- 31:04Speaker 1: shed in Austin Facilities University of Texas. We didn't.
- 31:10Speaker 4: We didn't ran into sheds out man, they got they
- 31:16Speaker 4: got plenty.
- 31:17Speaker 1: But hey, I wanted to.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Ask you to Obviously, you know you've been You've been
- 31:23Speaker 4: pitching a lot of big league stadiums. Now, I'm sure
- 31:25Speaker 4: you've had a lot of great big league moments, and
- 31:27Speaker 4: I'm just gonna assume that one of your best big
- 31:30Speaker 4: league moments is probably last year in the playoffs. But
- 31:32Speaker 4: I wanted to ask you your favorite place to pitch
- 31:34Speaker 4: other than Milwaukee.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Oh, I really I enjoyed Anaheim. Okay, I thought I thought.
- 31:48Speaker 3: I didn't think the mom was too bad.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I know, didn't like, Hey, let's get missed.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Uh you know he he lands a lot longer than
- 32:00Speaker 2: yeah and I do.
- 32:00Speaker 3: But as far as everything there, I like, thoroughly enjoyed
- 32:06Speaker 3: pitching there, and my cutter was really good. I don't
- 32:10Speaker 3: know if there's some moisture here or whatnot, but usually
- 32:14Speaker 3: on the West Coast, I.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Get you know, some good movement on the cutter. So uh,
- 32:20Speaker 2: I just enjoyed the background, like it's the background for
- 32:23Speaker 2: me as far as you know that perception and stuff
- 32:27Speaker 2: like that.
- 32:28Speaker 1: So, yeah, what's your favorite road city.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I went to?
- 32:37Speaker 3: When we were in San Diego? I went on the
- 32:39Speaker 3: USS Midway.
- 32:40Speaker 1: All you guys did that? Oh yeah, I.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Mean Robert Casser did and you know, what a treat.
- 32:46Speaker 3: What a treat you know, So I couldn't have done that.
- 32:50Speaker 3: You know, we walked around in the he don't They're
- 32:54Speaker 3: just saying that these guys don't leave there.
- 32:56Speaker 2: The it's hot down there, you know.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Uh uh, those guys don't leave their stations or nothing
- 33:03Speaker 3: like that. And it was just incredible to see, just
- 33:06Speaker 3: asking a lot of questions on you know, how the
- 33:09Speaker 3: steam engine worked and stuff like that.
- 33:12Speaker 2: But learned a lot a lot from that tour we did.
- 33:17Speaker 1: The thing is huge, man, I walked past it on Tuesday. Massive.
- 33:22Speaker 1: How'd you guys get that? Was that the brewers or
- 33:24Speaker 1: did you guys?
- 33:26Speaker 2: I think it's forty dollars?
- 33:28Speaker 1: Oh just you just paid for the commission.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Yeah that's awesome, yeah.
- 33:34Speaker 5: Man, next time San Diego.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, man, San Diego is beautiful man.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah, well beach right there.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I was just about to say is
- 33:46Speaker 2: I was talking to Mason.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Miller and he loves it there and he's saying how
- 33:51Speaker 3: he's over over by Cornado and he's like a half
- 33:55Speaker 3: mile from the beach and stuff like that.
- 33:56Speaker 2: So said, it's a great, great vibe there.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Yeah, that's where a lot of the home players like
- 34:04Speaker 4: to live in Cornado.
- 34:05Speaker 5: And we got the hook up when I.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Was with the Birds.
- 34:08Speaker 5: We get to go do a tour the Navy Seal base.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Right And next time you go to.
- 34:13Speaker 4: San Diego, maybe if Miller's still there, talk to Miller,
- 34:16Speaker 4: see if he's got any hook up over at the
- 34:18Speaker 4: Navy Seal base man, because that the USS Midway is sweet.
- 34:22Speaker 4: You know, you see obviously a lot of respect for them,
- 34:24Speaker 4: but then you see what the Navy Seals are going through.
- 34:27Speaker 4: To man, it's a it's a fun experience for sure.
- 34:31Speaker 4: San Diego, San Diego.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Top notch of road city. Weather's great, the food incredible, Dude,
- 34:37Speaker 1: I had so many I don't know if you guys
- 34:39Speaker 1: are are the players are on fish Taco Shrimp Taco
- 34:43Speaker 1: watched the entire time. But let me tell you, I am. Yeah,
- 34:47Speaker 1: and it's at the Seal. Yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're still making them there, Dude.
- 34:56Speaker 4: You think the food like in San Diego is good?
- 34:58Speaker 1: But did in the clubhouse? Man? That chef is some
- 35:02Speaker 1: of the best. Some of the best restaurants, right, Not
- 35:04Speaker 1: that I would know, like, but some of the best
- 35:06Speaker 1: restaurants is just a visiting clubhouse. Yeah, right, Like the
- 35:10Speaker 1: cheese steaks in Philly. Have you had those, Chad? Yeah?
- 35:13Speaker 3: I didn't. I had to last year. I don't know
- 35:16Speaker 3: how people eat seventeen of them?
- 35:21Speaker 4: Who's man our bullpen capture when I was there?
- 35:23Speaker 1: I think he's got the record, still had the record in.
- 35:28Speaker 5: A four game series.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Yeah, incredible, incredible. They're good. But I can't eat that many.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I can't be sick the next week.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Will you eat a Dodger dog?
- 35:41Speaker 2: Uh? You know, I don't really get into all the
- 35:44Speaker 2: fancy names.
- 35:45Speaker 1: I'd probably stay away from the Dodger dog. Stay with
- 35:47Speaker 1: dog like.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I just like a plain dog man with cheese it.
- 35:53Speaker 1: You know, are you say? Are you know you're not
- 35:55Speaker 1: a Chicago dog guy? Then no, no, but you but
