- 1:26SPEAKER_08: Nah.
- 1:27SPEAKER_08: 1985 call.
- 1:28SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's better than Jody the Asshole.
- 1:30SPEAKER_06: I've been called that a bunch of my lifetime, too.
- 1:32SPEAKER_08: So well, same thing we're not reading your Facebook page then, huh?
- 1:40SPEAKER_08: All right, guys.
- 1:41SPEAKER_08: We got a couple things to talk about here, real quick.
- 1:43SPEAKER_08: Uh, we're gonna start off with a little bit of a um a letter that was sent to us.
- 1:48SPEAKER_08: An email, actually, but that was sent to us, and Justin's gonna take care of that here in just a moment.
- 1:54SPEAKER_08: This episode is brought to you by the letter E.
- 1:59SPEAKER_09: Finally, an email.
- 2:01SPEAKER_09: Finally, an email.
- 2:02SPEAKER_09: E as an email.
- 2:03SPEAKER_09: Uh ah.
- 2:04SPEAKER_09: Jody, do the song, Jody.
- 2:06SPEAKER_09: It's emails, it's emails.
- 2:09SPEAKER_09: Can you tell he was in the band?
- 2:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:13SPEAKER_09: This one time in band camp.
- 2:15SPEAKER_09: Emails.
- 2:16SPEAKER_06: I I was not the singer.
- 2:18unknown: No.
- 2:20SPEAKER_08: Good, but you kept good time.
- 2:23SPEAKER_08: Perfect.
- 2:23SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 2:24SPEAKER_08: Okay, Justin, take it away, sir.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: So this email is titled, Here's a stinking email, you selfish fools.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: And it's from my my my best good friend, Steve Demo.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Demo demo.
- 2:37SPEAKER_07: Wait a minute.
- 2:37SPEAKER_07: Your best good friend, and you don't even know how to pronounce his last name.
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: Look, he's from Indiana.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: It's pronounced differently than it is in Pennsylvania.
- 2:44SPEAKER_06: I was gonna say it depends on the dialect and how you pronounce it.
- 2:48SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 2:48SPEAKER_06: Well, did you just say Indiana?
- 2:50SPEAKER_06: Indiana.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: Indiana Indiana Jones.
- 2:53SPEAKER_09: Indiana Junes.
- 2:55SPEAKER_09: He likes putting a mayonnaise on his soundwave.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: Holy merley.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: All right, his email goes, Greetings from Indiana.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Great episode about interior detailing.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: I'll start with something I believe Jason said about still learning.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: We are all still learning, and if we weren't, the perfect model would exist.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: As for carpet, I still flock some of my flocking interiors, but I can agree it doesn't look quite right.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: Kinda looks like really moldy cheese.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: I've tried the sticky back felt from the jungle site, and I think it's a tad too thick.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: I don't know why that got me.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: The jungle site.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: Woo! Okay then.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: I thought the tad too thick, but it got you.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: Looks a tad too thick, but does the job alright.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: Now, something I discovered, and it works well for builds where you can kind of see part of the floor, but not much.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Pro scale paints has textured paints.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: I use black for a bedliner, and I think the chunky scale is more correct.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: I've sprayed a couple of floors, and once the car is together, it gives a textured look without being excessive.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: There's my two cents on that, and if I hear anyone say they have the quote unquote best cheesesteaks and they aren't getting them from Amy's Pizzeria in Hatboro, they are lying.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: You can remove that if you want to, Justin.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: So now you can't say you didn't get an email.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: Hope you guys are happy now.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Best wishes, Steve Demo Demo, crazy scale bottles.
- 4:22SPEAKER_07: Thank you, thank you, Steve.
- 4:25SPEAKER_07: I would just like to can I just throw it there real quick before I lose the thought.
- 4:29SPEAKER_07: Um, from now on, when someone asks me what size clothes I wear, I'm gonna say I'm in the chunky scale.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Yes, well, when you're kids, you're just husky.
- 4:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:42SPEAKER_09: Right, yeah.
- 4:42SPEAKER_08: Or a 52-year-old adult male, husky.
- 4:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I if we're taking notes out of that letter, I would be the one that looks like moldy cheese when I don't have a shirt on.
- 4:52SPEAKER_09: So speaking of moldy cheese, Michael's not with us tonight.
- 4:57SPEAKER_08: Yes, that's right.
- 4:59SPEAKER_08: It's not the missing lug knock is uh is is uh rolling down the curb as we speak.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Yes, still, but yeah, for those that that had didn't see my post on Facebook, uh Steve was actually out kinda in my neck of the woods last week uh for some GM training.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: Uh he did drive two hours to break bread with me.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: We had I I bought him a cheesesteak from my local pizza place, uh, had a great time.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: He ate it all and made it back to his hotel two hours away without passing out behind the wheel.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: Uh it was it was good to meet him.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: It was good to meet Steve and and uh thanks for sharing time with me and breaking bread, Steve.
- 5:40SPEAKER_08: I I I do have a question though.
- 5:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah, what exactly what exactly what exactly are you taking out?
- 5:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you said you can take that out, Justin.
- 5:48SPEAKER_08: I'm like, how long has it been in?
- 5:50SPEAKER_08: Um about the cheesesteak.
- 5:53SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: Um that whole that whole thing about the cheesesteaks.
- 5:57SPEAKER_06: Oh, the excerpt.
- 6:00SPEAKER_06: I think that's worth mentioning and keeping in for sure.
- 6:02SPEAKER_06: I mean, I'm always about a good cheesesteak, so yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:05SPEAKER_08: Why not?
- 6:05SPEAKER_07: Model cars and cheesesteaks.
- 6:07SPEAKER_07: Listen, you guys, no matter how good the cheesesteak is, you can't keep it in forever.
- 6:11SPEAKER_07: It's coming out.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: This is this is otherwise you're gonna have to seek medical help.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 6:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 6:20SPEAKER_06: We did uh we did end up with a second email.
- 6:24SPEAKER_06: I don't know if you guys saw it.
- 6:25SPEAKER_06: Jason had forwarded it uh back on October 5th, and it was sent by Brendan Wrigley, he's over in Queensland, Australia, and basically he had listened to the uh interior podcast as well, and he um suggested a tip for um using talcum powder or baby powder for like an Alcantara look.
- 6:49SPEAKER_06: And I have seen that, I have seen that.
- 6:52SPEAKER_06: So uh similarly to how you do flocking, um, you know, you do your uh do your paint or your uh adhesive, you put that on, and then you sprinkle the um talcum powder on, and then basically you can airbrush over that with every color you want, just dust it very lightly, and it gives it a nice, very Alcantara suede texture to it.
- 7:15SPEAKER_06: So those of you doing a lot of um race cars, modern supercars, Alcantara all over those things.
- 7:22SPEAKER_06: So what a Brendan Wrigley, thank you for writing in as well.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: Well, I was gonna say, let me let me honor this guy by reading this.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: But BJ, you BG, you had something going on in your brain, spit it out.
- 7:33SPEAKER_08: I was thinking, wouldn't that be great for the race car steering wheels?
- 7:36SPEAKER_08: The uh the texture that's over.
- 7:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's exactly what it is.
- 7:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: So I did find that email and it says, Hi guys, long time listener, first time emailer.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: Glad there is a car-based podcast, it complements the other ones I listened to really well.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: One more suggestion or tip for your interior episode is the Talcum Powder Baby Powder.
- 7:55SPEAKER_02: Not sure what you blokes call it over here.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: So I'm not gonna go into all of that because uh Jody just mentioned it, uh, talked about the two ways of doing it.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: Uh, it does look like the Allocantra leather.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: Uh, he does have a link in here, which is not going to help in an audio podcast.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: Um he did a step-by-step.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: I'll see if we can figure out how to add that to our uh Facebook page.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: There are a number of other fabric-based materials that he's used.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: Different types of fabric bandage work well for things like roll cage padding or canvas co driver bags in rally cars.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: Cheers, Brendan.
- 8:33SPEAKER_06: Wait, all Brendan can now straw Brendan can post over on our Facebook page.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: But that's how the internet works, right?
- 8:42SPEAKER_08: There you go.
- 8:43SPEAKER_08: My double days.
- 8:45SPEAKER_08: Brendan uh Jody has given you permission to post on the Facebook page, so you're you're free to go.
- 8:50SPEAKER_08: You're good to go.
- 8:50SPEAKER_08: You're free to go.
- 8:52SPEAKER_08: Don't make us do the work.
- 8:53SPEAKER_08: Have your way with it.
- 8:54SPEAKER_08: That definitely was not a joke about uh Australia being a penal cennalty.
- 8:58SPEAKER_08: Not at all.
- 8:58SPEAKER_08: I apologize.
- 9:00SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 9:00SPEAKER_08: You said penal.
- 9:05SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 9:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_08: By the way, by the way, I'm not editing this podcast.
- 9:12SPEAKER_08: We're just doing fantastic.
- 9:16SPEAKER_08: I think that's I mean, you get what you pay for.
- 9:19SPEAKER_08: I haven't had a paycheck yet.
- 9:20SPEAKER_08: So cool.
- 9:21SPEAKER_08: I'm looking at I'm looking at these notes on how to end the podcast, but I don't have any notes on how to run the podcast because you know we're doing this off the cuff.
- 9:28SPEAKER_08: So now, emails are done.
- 9:30SPEAKER_08: Thank you very much, Justin.
- 9:31SPEAKER_08: Jason and Jody, you have a couple of shows to share with us, don't you?
- 9:36SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 9:37SPEAKER_06: Well let Jason Jason kick it off for us.
- 9:39SPEAKER_07: Okay, jump ball.
- 9:41SPEAKER_07: Jump all.
- 9:42SPEAKER_07: I I would kick the football, but he is not here again this week.
- 9:45SPEAKER_07: That's right.
- 9:46SPEAKER_07: So uh yeah, we would do it.
- 9:49SPEAKER_06: Hopefully he's getting kicked by Fred Henry or some of those guys.
- 9:51SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 9:54SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 10:00SPEAKER_07: Those of you listening to this podcast, whenever you're listening to it, uh Mikey's at Acme right now, and I'm very jealous because Heather and I were supposed to go to Acme.
- 10:10SPEAKER_07: Um but uh my bank account started hemorrhaging money everywhere, and we had to cancel the trip.
- 10:17SPEAKER_07: So hopefully Mikey's listening to this at some point in time, and I'm jealous.
- 10:22SPEAKER_07: Anyway, we let's see, Jody, where did we go?
- 10:26SPEAKER_07: PatCon was first.
- 10:28SPEAKER_07: PatCon was the first show that we went to this year.
- 10:32SPEAKER_07: Um and we had a Nor'easter that weekend, and it was like wading through a pond where we parked to get into this place, first off.
- 10:44SPEAKER_07: Yeah uh I mean the weather was horrible.
- 10:48SPEAKER_06: Heavy, heavy rain.
- 10:50SPEAKER_07: And wind.
- 10:52SPEAKER_06: And wind.
- 10:53SPEAKER_07: I got detoured like four times on the way down to the show.
- 10:59SPEAKER_07: I think I was washed out roads, uh washed out roads down trees.
- 11:04SPEAKER_07: I think I was an hour and 45 minutes late, I think, getting there.
- 11:08SPEAKER_07: Show overall, in my opinion, was good.
- 11:11SPEAKER_07: Uh the this is the infamous PatCon.
- 11:14SPEAKER_07: Um, you guys probably remember last year's deal.
- 11:18SPEAKER_07: Uh they made some improvements, I will say that.
- 11:22SPEAKER_07: Um they were the the people in charge there made some steps to improve.
- 11:29SPEAKER_07: They've got a little work to do, and we'll just leave it at that.
- 11:32SPEAKER_07: Overall, the show was fantastic.
- 11:35SPEAKER_07: Um, good buddies, the people I got to hang out with Brian Denklow, good models on the table.
- 11:41SPEAKER_07: Good models on the table.
- 11:44SPEAKER_07: I was surprised with the weather.
- 11:45SPEAKER_07: Um, how many actual really good models showed up to that?
- 11:49SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it was just a really good day.
- 11:50SPEAKER_06: I mean, spent a little bit of money, great setting for a show.
- 11:54SPEAKER_06: It's an airplane hangar, there's old uh old recreations of like the original planes of flight.
- 12:02SPEAKER_06: There was um an Avenger in there, there's a biplane in there.
- 12:06SPEAKER_06: I mean, just a really cool setting on the upper floors.
- 12:10SPEAKER_06: There's some old um dirt track cars, the the quarter scale midgets.
- 12:16SPEAKER_06: There's a um uh couple F1 cars up there, quarter scale midgets, huh?
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yes, that's smaller than a midget.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: There's there's all sorts of mental images going right here.
- 12:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's it's about twice the size of Mike.
- 12:32SPEAKER_07: So is he like eight-scale midgets?
- 12:34SPEAKER_07: At least six feet, probably.
- 12:36SPEAKER_07: That's hilarious.
- 12:38SPEAKER_07: Yeah, a lot of cool stuff.
- 12:39SPEAKER_07: So one of those midgets, did you notice?
- 12:42SPEAKER_07: No, no, Justin.
- 12:44SPEAKER_07: Thank you.
- 12:44SPEAKER_07: You have ruined this for me.
- 12:46SPEAKER_07: One of those midgets was actually powered by an outboard motor.
- 12:50SPEAKER_08: Did you see that?
- 12:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 12:52SPEAKER_08: Oh, I got it.
- 12:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:54SPEAKER_08: I gotta I gotta look that up because that's fast.
- 12:56SPEAKER_06: Outboard motor, there was a couple that had flathead v8 in them.
- 13:00SPEAKER_06: There, I think there was one that's Harley powered.
- 13:02SPEAKER_06: I mean, they were uh those things were just powered whatever they could put in them, basically.
- 13:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, basically.
- 13:07SPEAKER_06: Really, really neat stuff, yeah.
- 13:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_07: Um, they did the the hosting club did a really good job with seminars.
- 13:14SPEAKER_07: Uh there was a couple of good seminars there.
- 13:17SPEAKER_07: Um, Heather and I actually sat in on the figure painting one, which was really informative.
- 13:22SPEAKER_07: It was nice.
- 13:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah, very good.
- 13:26SPEAKER_06: Friends of the podcast and the insanity group, Russ Clark.
- 13:29SPEAKER_06: He did a uh oil oil weathering and weathering um um seminar as well.
- 13:36SPEAKER_06: Seemed to be pretty well attended.
- 13:38SPEAKER_08: So oh, that's cool.
- 13:39SPEAKER_08: I was just getting into oil weathering, so that's awesome.
- 13:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:42SPEAKER_08: Kudos to you guys for braving the weather to get there, especially since you're an hour and 45 minutes late.
- 13:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it was it was worth the trip, though.
- 13:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it was it was a good show.
- 13:51SPEAKER_06: It was fun hanging out with everybody.
- 13:53SPEAKER_06: The the same old cast of characters were all there together.
- 13:56SPEAKER_06: Den Claw was hanging out.
- 13:57SPEAKER_06: Great quality of models, even for the weather.
- 14:00SPEAKER_06: Attendance was probably a little bit lighter, but you know, at the end of the day, it's you know, attendance is great, but yeah, hanging out with your fellow modeling uh compatriots is what it's about anyway.
- 14:11SPEAKER_06: So and some of them quarter scale midgets.
- 14:14SPEAKER_06: So the quarter scale midget.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: I could use a quarter scale midget right about now.
- 14:19SPEAKER_08: That's been a long time.
- 14:21SPEAKER_08: We call those half, we call those halflings.
- 14:31SPEAKER_08: I am gonna have to I am gonna have to edit this podcast.
- 14:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah, a little bit of it, maybe.
- 14:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah, anyway.
- 14:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so then so that was uh when was that?
- 14:44SPEAKER_06: That was the last week in September, and then the first weekend in October was classic plastic.
- 14:50SPEAKER_07: So I did not attend Jason was not there.
- 14:53SPEAKER_06: No, Jason was busy, but I was there with you know Tim Ryan and Nick Arvinides and Paul Paradise, some of the some of the the goons we hang out with regularly.
- 15:03SPEAKER_06: And it was a good show, you know.
- 15:04SPEAKER_06: It's one of the ones that I just enjoy it, you know.
- 15:07SPEAKER_06: It's it's easy to get there, it's an easy trip.
- 15:09SPEAKER_06: The little lady and I kind of make a weekend of it.
- 15:12SPEAKER_06: We'll go down the Saturday before, take in Manchester, New Hampshire.
- 15:16SPEAKER_06: There's a nice antique mall that we check out, grab lunch, and then we stay kind of right down the street.
- 15:23SPEAKER_06: Um pretty well attended, I would say models, probably close to 300, maybe a little bit more.
- 15:30SPEAKER_06: The vendors were down a little bit this year.
- 15:33SPEAKER_06: But funny story, we were hanging out, kind of herding cats, to get everybody to go to lunch.
- 15:40SPEAKER_06: And uh, as I was standing outside waiting, this guy came up to me and said, I recognize that voice.
- 15:47SPEAKER_06: And it's so I befriended a gentleman that by the name of Jeff Johnston, who is just a really outstanding model builder, does um factory stock models, won a couple awards that day, built a couple really nice models.
- 16:03SPEAKER_06: So he was just listening to the uh podcast on the way to the show.
- 16:08SPEAKER_06: So he recognized my voice, and he's like, No, you're Jody.
- 16:11SPEAKER_06: And I was like, uh, yes, I am.
- 16:14SPEAKER_06: So we chatted for about five minutes and whisked him away with us to uh go eat lunch.
- 16:21SPEAKER_06: So um immediately pulled him into the group, nice guy, forced him to buy lunch for everybody.
- 16:25SPEAKER_06: Heck yeah, yeah.
- 16:27SPEAKER_06: Just kidding.
- 16:27SPEAKER_08: That's how it's done.
- 16:28SPEAKER_06: So so make sure you come up and say a hi.
- 16:30SPEAKER_06: We'll take you to lunch and then force you to actually pay for lunch for everybody.
- 16:35SPEAKER_06: But uh it was uh it was uh it was a good show, you know.
- 16:38SPEAKER_06: We uh we had a good time and um ended up with a couple club member picks.
- 16:45SPEAKER_06: One for the um the Mustang that I just completed, the the Cobra Jet, and then the um what was the other one?
- 16:52SPEAKER_06: Oh, the Rolls Royce Pro Touring Car.
- 16:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 16:57SPEAKER_06: So that was uh that was those are really good accolades, you know, and you got people from the club picking you out.
- 17:03SPEAKER_06: So there was a lot of nice stuff there.
- 17:05SPEAKER_06: So and then that moves us on to Granite Con.
- 17:09SPEAKER_06: Jason can pick it back up again.
- 17:11SPEAKER_07: Granite Con 33.
- 17:12SPEAKER_07: We had Mac Johnson on to talk about that on our little what do we call that?
- 17:16SPEAKER_07: A sideshow?
- 17:17SPEAKER_06: The sideshow.
- 17:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 17:20SPEAKER_07: Can't decide show.
- 17:21SPEAKER_07: Yeah, can't decide show.
- 17:23SPEAKER_07: Uh man, I all I can say is the the folks over at um Grant State modelers knocked it out of the park with this show.
- 17:33SPEAKER_06: Big time.
- 17:34SPEAKER_07: So they well, well organized, they moved into a new I can't say new venue, same venue, right?
- 17:41SPEAKER_07: But they went from the cafeteria, which legit is a word, cafetorium, says it on the outside of the building, to the gymnasium, which was well more well more than double the size.
- 17:54SPEAKER_07: Um there was all kinds of room, they had a new sound system, which it was pretty easy to hear, uh, making announcements, and when they were handing out the awards, well organized, even with a fire drill, not even a fire alarm in the middle of the show.
- 18:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, wow.
- 18:16SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they were they they they they were into judging and the fire alarm went off.
- 18:19SPEAKER_06: We all just kind of stood around looking at each other, and it's like yeah, I'm like nobody was nobody was running for the door smashing windows out or anything.
- 18:26SPEAKER_07: It's like I'm like, hey guys, uh the fire department's probably gonna be here any minute.
- 18:31SPEAKER_07: We should probably leave.
- 18:33SPEAKER_07: Yeah, um, and then it was funny, Heather's like, Oh, I gotta go.
- 18:37SPEAKER_07: Right?
- 18:38SPEAKER_07: Heather's like, Oh, I'm gonna hit the bathroom before we have to before we have to leave.
- 18:41SPEAKER_07: And she was on her way to the bathroom, and the lady's like, stop out.
- 18:47SPEAKER_07: So she ended up driving down the road to the pizza place where we had lunch to go to the bathroom because we were outside for like over an hour.
- 18:53SPEAKER_07: There was an actual fire.
- 18:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah, well, there was an actual fire?
- 18:58SPEAKER_07: Wow.
- 18:59SPEAKER_06: Fire, uh fire in one of the ducks motor or something, belt or something burned up.
- 19:04SPEAKER_07: So dang.
- 19:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, so um uh an hour-long pause in the middle of the show where everybody stood outside.
- 19:11SPEAKER_07: Uh, and when the building was cleared, they picked it up like nothing had happened.
- 19:15SPEAKER_07: Um, we were, I don't know, maybe 40 minutes late getting out of there later than we should have been.
- 19:23SPEAKER_07: So, kudos to them.
- 19:24SPEAKER_07: They did a really good job.
- 19:26SPEAKER_07: Uh lots of good stuff on the table, yet again.
- 19:30SPEAKER_07: Um hanging out with our buddies yet again.
- 19:33SPEAKER_07: Uh, it was I don't know what else to say about the show other than it was fantastic.
- 19:38SPEAKER_06: Um I would say they it's a really nice space that they moved into, gives them room to grow, I think.
- 19:45SPEAKER_06: There's more vendors.
- 19:47SPEAKER_06: Uh John Rousher is a New Hampshire resident, lives relatively close to the show, and he always brings out a good selection of stuff, and I think he was able to bring even more stuff with more space.
- 19:59SPEAKER_06: The wider aisles again, they just they just did a fantastic job.
- 20:04SPEAKER_06: They did.
- 20:04SPEAKER_06: What a great show.
- 20:05SPEAKER_06: 30.
- 20:06SPEAKER_06: That was what the 33rd year.
- 20:07SPEAKER_06: 33rd year.
- 20:08SPEAKER_06: They've got it together.
- 20:10SPEAKER_07: So excellent.
- 20:11SPEAKER_07: Excellent.
- 20:12SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it was it was really good.
- 20:14SPEAKER_07: Um, I mean, I I had to say to Mac, we were standing outside, and I said, I'll tell you what, Mac.
- 20:20SPEAKER_07: Good job.
- 20:21SPEAKER_07: I've never been to a show where there was a mandatory fire drill in the middle of it.
- 20:25SPEAKER_07: He's like, you know how hard it was to coordinate this?
- 20:30SPEAKER_08: I I just I just I was just thinking of like, you know, as a as a judge, I'm like, oh my god, that's the best way to get yourself an extra hour just to do some more tallying and stuff.
- 20:39SPEAKER_06: Right, yeah, go over there and hit that pole station over there, right?
- 20:43SPEAKER_06: Buy some extra time.
- 20:44SPEAKER_07: It was it was fun.
- 20:45SPEAKER_07: We got to we hung out, meet me, Jody, and Russ.
- 20:48SPEAKER_07: We took pictures in front of the fire truck, and we were like, Russ, Russ, pretend you're gonna steal the truck.
- 20:53SPEAKER_07: And he was like climbing up in the thing, and we were taking pictures of him.
- 20:57SPEAKER_06: We all had our modeling insanity shirts on, so I was like, We gotta get a picture and send it to the boss man.
- 21:02SPEAKER_06: And yeah, yeah, and uh Jason ribbed him on.
- 21:05SPEAKER_06: He said, Go over like you're gonna steal a truck, and he sheepishly went over there, and then the firefighter came out of the building.
- 21:10SPEAKER_07: So it guess who was the first one to scurry away?
- 21:14SPEAKER_07: Me?
- 21:14SPEAKER_08: I was like, Here the idea guy's the first one to run.
- 21:23SPEAKER_08: Self-preservation, self-preservation, yeah.
- 21:27SPEAKER_08: So uh just as a side note, were the people that like building like uh emergency equipment, were they climbing all over the fire truck taking pictures of it just because you know I want to build one of these one day, you know?
- 21:40SPEAKER_06: We were having a number of conversations outside.
- 21:42SPEAKER_06: It's like if a fire really does get going in that gymnasium with all that plastic, paint paint, all that shit in there, it's like, man, that's gonna be one rager.
- 21:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and then that of course led to conversations.
- 21:53SPEAKER_06: What about a fire hose in there?
- 21:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah, exactly.
- 21:55SPEAKER_07: What if they started spraying that fire hose around?
- 21:58SPEAKER_06: Man, that was just destroyed stuff.
- 22:00SPEAKER_07: Oh my god, could you imagine?
- 22:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:02SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 22:03SPEAKER_07: It was funny.
- 22:04SPEAKER_07: They uh our buddy Gary Westfall, of course, one of the in my opinion, one of the best builders, I think, in the country.
- 22:11SPEAKER_07: I'm gonna say it.
- 22:12SPEAKER_07: Um, he had brought a handful of models, and one of them, uh, I did a little exp excerp on in my video.
- 22:19SPEAKER_07: It was a Lamborghini that had a was it 490 something LED lights in LED lights.
- 22:28SPEAKER_08: 400 lights?
- 22:30SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 22:31SPEAKER_07: So his like the first break.
- 22:34SPEAKER_07: That's what I told him.
- 22:34SPEAKER_07: He walked up, he goes, anybody hear what happened?
- 22:36SPEAKER_07: I'm like, yeah, they they said something about some model, and they would like 490 lights set off the heat sensor.
- 22:45SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 22:47SPEAKER_08: Oh my god.
- 22:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's that's insane.
- 22:51SPEAKER_06: It was uh it was a good time.
- 22:52SPEAKER_06: I mean, it was uh the fire drill sucked a little bit, but it was absolutely beautiful out.
- 22:57SPEAKER_06: So we all got to just kind of hang out and shoot the breeze outside.
- 23:00SPEAKER_06: And it's probably good that we all get out.
- 23:03SPEAKER_06: The fire department gets pissy if you're still in the building when they get there.
- 23:06SPEAKER_07: So yeah, they do, yeah, yeah.
- 23:08SPEAKER_06: They would have got that fire hose and started hose and tables down just to prove a point.
- 23:13SPEAKER_06: You don't want to get out, I'll show you how to get out.
- 23:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:16SPEAKER_08: Uh oh, that was cool.
- 23:19SPEAKER_08: Oh, there it goes.
- 23:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah, exactly.
- 23:21SPEAKER_06: There it goes, enterprise.
- 23:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but good, good for uh good for Mac and his team for being able to recover from that and only be about 40 minutes, like you said, behind schedule.
- 23:30SPEAKER_08: So it was yeah, yeah.
- 23:36SPEAKER_07: All right, yeah, why are we still here?
- 23:39SPEAKER_08: Every every year, the same problem.
- 23:41SPEAKER_07: Yeah, exactly.
- 23:43SPEAKER_06: But overall, good little show season, you know, those few kind of shows right there at the end, you know, are always nice to kind of wrap up the year, you know, and um now we got what six month lag before kind of the next ones.
- 23:58SPEAKER_07: Uh yeah, the next wave, which would be the same for the Sanford show, the Vermont show.
- 24:03SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 24:04SPEAKER_06: So that'll be in NNL East.
- 24:06SPEAKER_06: That's all in April.
- 24:06SPEAKER_06: So April May time frame.
- 24:08SPEAKER_06: So you know, gives us gives get some inspiration, right?
- 24:12SPEAKER_06: Gives you time to go home and kind of you know put your nose to the grindstone, build some new stuff for that kind of next show season and try to impress your buddies all over again, you know.
- 24:22SPEAKER_08: So yeah.
- 24:23SPEAKER_08: I'm a little bummed.
- 24:24SPEAKER_08: Actually, I'm a lot bummed because I'm missing out on acne this this month, and then also I found out that I won't be able to go to uh Spirit of Speech show in Southern California later this month or beginning of uh November, actually.
- 24:35SPEAKER_08: Turns out my work schedule wasn't finalized, and I I was I was um thinking that I could I could sneak out there and sneak back again, but it turns out that uh either I had the wrong weekend down or something changed on the schedule.
- 24:48SPEAKER_08: It doesn't really matter, but uh I need to cover the the shipping lady for the whole day, for the whole week, all day, whole week.
- 24:55SPEAKER_08: So I'm not able and if I was to do a turnaround and come back because it's a Sunday night, right?
- 24:59SPEAKER_08: If I turn around and come back, I wouldn't be back home until like one o'clock in the morning.
- 25:03SPEAKER_08: So that's that's a bit late for these old booms, yeah.
- 25:07SPEAKER_08: But uh we were out to dinner um for my birthday.
- 25:10SPEAKER_08: Uh we went out to uh one of those Japanese um hibachi grill things where the guy throws food at you.
- 25:16SPEAKER_08: Oh, it's awesome.
- 25:17SPEAKER_08: Um and uh uh they they do all kinds of crazy stuff with the did you get a zucchini thrown at you or yeah, uh some lady some some lady at the other table, she's like, shut up! And I'm like, oh sorry.
- 25:32SPEAKER_06: So just throw the whole spatula at that bitch.
- 25:36SPEAKER_08: Excuse me, chef.
- 25:37SPEAKER_08: Can I can I borrow that for a second?
- 25:39SPEAKER_08: Um, don't interrupt my conversation.
- 25:42SPEAKER_08: But um the uh I got a phone call from Mr.
- 25:46SPEAKER_08: Batson, and I'm like, Oh, if Mr.
- 25:47SPEAKER_08: Batson's calling, you answer the phone.
- 25:49SPEAKER_08: There's no there's no there's no area on it.
- 25:52SPEAKER_08: So I I run outside real quick to answer the call, and I'm like, hey Mark, what's up?
- 25:55SPEAKER_08: He goes, Hey, we're gonna see you this weekend at Acme.
- 25:59SPEAKER_08: I'm like that's this weekend.
- 26:01SPEAKER_08: He's like, Yeah, I'm like, I'm like, dude, I thought I told everybody I forgot to tell Mark I'm not making it out there.
- 26:07SPEAKER_08: So yeah, I I owe him a phone call after everything settles down explaining what's going on.
- 26:11SPEAKER_08: But yeah, um, yeah, I I'm so jealous of you guys and your your ability to have those shows and just like drive over to them and even with terrible weather, still make it there just an hour or so out of uh uh behind schedule.
- 26:23SPEAKER_08: But um yeah, we have our model zona show here in November on the second weekend, second Saturday.
- 26:31SPEAKER_08: And uh I'm really looking forward to that now because we had our model meeting last last month, and several guys stood up and said that they would help us judge.
- 26:40SPEAKER_08: So that's excellent.
- 26:42SPEAKER_08: Kudos to the low-key modelers, so thank you for stepping up to that.
- 26:45SPEAKER_08: And um, since it's on the same day as our meeting, we just decided to go get pizza afterwards, so that's gonna be kind of fun too.
- 26:51SPEAKER_08: Nice, very nice.
- 26:53SPEAKER_06: Are you are you is there a thought about bringing the uh the Andy's HHQ model show or um the uh the the the BG model cars and coffee thing back in February again?
- 27:06SPEAKER_08: We're we're actually talking about that.
- 27:07SPEAKER_08: Um waiting for Andy Denise to come back from a uh well-deserved vacation, and then um we're gonna talk more about how because right now the the end of the year is already pretty much booked up, so uh with with sales and holidays and whatever.
- 27:20SPEAKER_08: So, yeah, February talking about doing the the Andes uh model car cars and coffee again and then doing uh armor one and then probably need to do one for aircraft.
- 27:31SPEAKER_08: We need to find some sucker to me.
- 27:32SPEAKER_08: I mean some volunteer to help out with aircrafts and do that.
- 27:35SPEAKER_06: Right, like cover the spread.
- 27:37SPEAKER_06: That's right.
- 27:38SPEAKER_08: Exactly, exactly.
- 27:40SPEAKER_08: But because the Gundam guys are totally down for it, they want to do that.
- 27:43SPEAKER_06: That's cool.
- 27:43SPEAKER_08: So that's what's going on around, yeah.
- 27:47SPEAKER_08: Nice.
- 27:47SPEAKER_08: But I I think it's awesome.
- 27:49SPEAKER_08: You guys got a chance to all hang out together and just be a group.
- 27:53SPEAKER_07: We uh we have our own little group, and it's it's hilarious.
- 27:56SPEAKER_07: We always so whenever we go to a show at the end, we all take a group photo, and every time we take a group photo, Gary Westfall, I spoke about him a few minutes ago, he he puts it into some chat GPT thing, and he turns us into Motley Crew every time.
- 28:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's hilarious.
- 28:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so it's yeah, we're all dressed in leather.
- 28:22SPEAKER_06: Jason was wearing uh zebra pants.
- 28:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and now it's it's it's it's pretty uh pretty pretty humorous, yeah.
- 28:31SPEAKER_07: So that's yeah, I get to see what I'd look like with a full torso tattoo.
- 28:34SPEAKER_07: I'm putting that on my list.
- 28:36SPEAKER_07: Full head of hair, big spiky, yeah, big full head of blonde hair, like out to here, yep.
- 28:41SPEAKER_08: So if you get a full tattoo on your arm, it's a sleeve, right?
- 28:44SPEAKER_08: What would a full torso tattoo be?
- 28:47SPEAKER_08: A tron?
- 28:48SPEAKER_08: A shirt.
- 28:49SPEAKER_08: A shirt?
- 28:50SPEAKER_08: It's a shirt tattoo.
- 28:50SPEAKER_10: It's a leotard.
- 28:51SPEAKER_07: A leotard?
- 28:52SPEAKER_07: I well for you maybe, but for everybody else in the world, I believe it's called a shirt.
- 28:59SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 29:00SPEAKER_08: Because I've been thinking about getting another tattoo, but I want a tattoo of myself all over, but shorter.
- 29:04SPEAKER_07: So you like your face would be like just above your belly button?
- 29:09SPEAKER_07: Well, not that short.
- 29:10SPEAKER_06: Oh quarter scale?
- 29:12SPEAKER_06: Normal.
- 29:13SPEAKER_06: Quarter scale.
- 29:13SPEAKER_08: Quarter scale, yeah.
- 29:15SPEAKER_08: Quarter scale madness.
- 29:17SPEAKER_08: Shout out to quarter scale madness, y'all.
- 29:19SPEAKER_08: Not that quarter scale, dude.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Um, fellas, I hate to break the shirt, but I gotta get going.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: I gotta go pick the little girl up.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: Have a good rest of the episode.
- 29:26unknown: All right.

- 31:51SPEAKER_07: It's okay.
- 31:52SPEAKER_07: We've we we've earned that right.
- 31:54SPEAKER_06: Rob Rick says we gotta bust balls more, right?
- 31:56SPEAKER_06: Or bust chops.
- 31:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah, bus chops, yeah.
- 31:59SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 32:00SPEAKER_08: You know, it's interesting when you have a staff meeting, and that's the only takeaway that we that we're not doing a good job with is uh you guys gotta bust more balls.
- 32:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:10SPEAKER_07: I actually think the last time I talked to him, he said something about you gotta swear more.
- 32:14SPEAKER_07: Gotta swear more.
- 32:16SPEAKER_06: No, I think so.
- 32:19SPEAKER_08: Uh yeah, okay, cool.
- 32:21SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 32:22SPEAKER_08: Hey, you know what?
- 32:23SPEAKER_08: I got a couple of shout-outs I want to give to uh to some listeners.
- 32:26SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 32:28SPEAKER_08: So I want to say thank you to Craig.
- 32:31SPEAKER_08: Craig came into the store recently.
- 32:33SPEAKER_08: Like this Craig?
- 32:34SPEAKER_08: No, not that Craig.
- 32:35SPEAKER_08: Definitely not that Craig.
- 32:37SPEAKER_08: Okay, but uh Craig came into the store recently with his family and uh got the chance to talk to him for a little bit.
- 32:42SPEAKER_08: He said he is a listener of the podcast and absolutely loves what we're doing.
- 32:46SPEAKER_08: I believe he said he was from Salt Lake City.
- 32:48SPEAKER_08: They'd come down to pick up his um his daughter from uh from ASU.
- 32:53SPEAKER_08: So um Craig, thank you for stopping by and saying hi and hanging out for a little while and talking to us.
- 32:58SPEAKER_08: Really appreciate that.
- 32:59SPEAKER_08: And thank you for your support as well.
- 33:01SPEAKER_08: And I also want to say hello to uh Joelle and Rayleigh, a couple of my coworkers.
- 33:07SPEAKER_08: And if you guys are hearing this, get the hell back to work.
- 33:10SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 33:13SPEAKER_08: There you go.

- 33:17SPEAKER_08: Like, sure, I'll give you a shout-out.
- 33:20SPEAKER_06: The break is over now, back to work.
- 33:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah, get your ass back to work.
- 33:24SPEAKER_06: Cool.
- 33:25SPEAKER_06: Oh goodness.
- 33:27SPEAKER_06: Just real quick, I don't want to give too much detail, but um during all this madness of our shows, right?
- 33:33SPEAKER_06: We had Mr.
- 33:34SPEAKER_06: Keith McGregor on here not long ago about the uh the Sam show.
- 33:40SPEAKER_06: And um, we of course, you know, participated.
- 33:42SPEAKER_06: We we paid for an award package and all that stuff, and he sent me uh sent me a uh letter a little while ago, and I was surprised to get another letter.
- 33:51SPEAKER_06: And I don't want to give away any of the contest details.
- 33:54SPEAKER_06: It looks like they had really good success.
- 33:57SPEAKER_06: And um, you know, it would be good to get him back on here at some point to kind of debrief on that, maybe another one of those little side shows.
- 34:03SPEAKER_06: He did say, you know, on behalf of the State Line Area Modelers, thank you so much for your participation.
- 34:08SPEAKER_06: SamCon 26 on October 3rd.
- 34:10SPEAKER_06: So that was the same weekend as the classic plastic show.
- 34:13SPEAKER_06: Yes, theirs was Saturday and ours was Sunday.
- 34:16SPEAKER_06: They had all these goodie bags filled with shop cards, stickers, pins, sanding sticks, epoxy putty, 3D engine parts and more.
- 34:22SPEAKER_06: We're all a huge hit.
- 34:23SPEAKER_06: Door prize and raffle items were outstanding and generated excitement.
- 34:27SPEAKER_06: We're happy to promote your business across our Facebook group and other modeling communities to expand your reach, which he did.
- 34:33SPEAKER_06: If anybody follows Keith or that SamCon group, I mean he was plastering that stuff everywhere.
- 34:38SPEAKER_06: I mean, he was showing appreciation to everybody.
- 34:41SPEAKER_06: I mean, he put the work in to get all sorts of sponsors, you know, prizes and things to hand out at the show.
- 34:48SPEAKER_06: So it was fantastic.
- 34:50SPEAKER_06: Um, we aim to promote all our sponsors with equal vigor, respect and appreciation, regardless of the donation size.
- 34:56SPEAKER_06: If we succeeded, we would love to have you join us again for SAMCON 27.
- 35:00SPEAKER_06: If you feel we could have done more, we apologize.
- 35:02SPEAKER_06: Welcome the opportunity to discuss how it can better represent your brand in the future.
- 35:06SPEAKER_06: Every donation was met with great excitement and gratitude by our members.
- 35:09SPEAKER_06: Thank you again for your generosity and support.
- 35:12SPEAKER_06: Uh, best regards, Keith McGregor, State Line Area Modelers.
- 35:15SPEAKER_06: And he put a little note down the bottom, Jody.
- 35:17SPEAKER_06: You all have done so much for our club and we're thrilled with its growth.
- 35:23SPEAKER_06: Suffice to say, I learned a lot.
- 35:25SPEAKER_06: Thanks again, Jody, for your support and kindness.
- 35:29SPEAKER_06: So top-notch fella, right there.
- 35:32SPEAKER_07: Absolutely.
- 35:33SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:34SPEAKER_08: That's awesome.
- 35:36SPEAKER_08: Definitely, yeah.
- 35:37SPEAKER_08: Nice to get a thank you note.
- 35:38SPEAKER_08: I got a note from him also.
- 35:39SPEAKER_08: It just was uh pretty brief.
- 35:41SPEAKER_08: It said, BG, thank you for everything you're doing.
- 35:43SPEAKER_08: Also, Jody's check bounced.
- 35:45SPEAKER_08: Can you help recognize this?
- 35:46SPEAKER_06: Can you?
- 35:49SPEAKER_06: For and all payments, too.
- 35:51SPEAKER_08: Yeah, cool, awesome.
- 35:53SPEAKER_08: All right, well, about we talk about what's on our benches because we haven't done that.
- 35:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah, okay.
- 35:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah, sure.
- 35:59SPEAKER_06: You go first, BG.
- 36:00SPEAKER_06: What are you working on?
- 36:01SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 36:02SPEAKER_08: Well, since I've been away from the bench for two whole weeks because we've had family staying here and I have had my uh had to turn my room into a bedroom, uh, because there's literally a bed sitting behind me right now.
- 36:12SPEAKER_08: Literally, um, I I have done uh what would rob us what Rob was swear more?
- 36:18SPEAKER_08: I've done bugger all, I've done bugger all.
- 36:20SPEAKER_08: Um I did get my uh my armor tank in my armor tank, my uh self-propelled howitzer into primer, so it looks really cool, all cohesive as one color.
- 36:30SPEAKER_08: Uh automotive-wise, I haven't done anything, but because I haven't been able to come into the hobby room and work on stuff, I've been finding myself just buying more and more paint.
- 36:40SPEAKER_08: So now I have a lot of paint sitting around, and now I have to apply the paint to the car.
- 36:46SPEAKER_08: So we'll do that now.
- 36:47SPEAKER_08: But uh, because now we have time off coming up and um and a room to work in again.
- 36:52SPEAKER_08: And of and then I'm just re-energized to get back in here because I'm like, hello, bench, hello, cutting mat, hello knives, hello 15 models I haven't worked on in a while.
- 37:02SPEAKER_08: There you go.
- 37:03SPEAKER_08: Have you uh have you started or done anything with your um your Baja Beetle yet?
- 37:08SPEAKER_08: As a matter of fact, I got half of it into primer, and the reason why I got half of it in the primer is because I ran out of primer, and it's not like I work at a hobby shop or anything, and I would remember to buy primer and bring it home, but I haven't.
- 37:20SPEAKER_08: Um, but uh no, the parts that I did get into primer looked awesome.
- 37:24SPEAKER_08: And I was wearing where is it goes?
- 37:26SPEAKER_08: My M the 3M uh N95 mask outside while I was sanding, so I did a lot of sanding on the body, and uh my lungs feel so happy for doing that.
- 37:37SPEAKER_08: So I'm I'm glad that I I held off to do that and not just cheat and do it in the garage like that.
- 37:42SPEAKER_06: So you could always always always consider wet sanding.
- 37:45SPEAKER_06: I know a lot of people do that for the resin stuff to keep it collected, yeah.
- 37:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because if you wet sand, it's not gonna create dust.
- 37:53SPEAKER_08: That's a good point.
- 37:54SPEAKER_08: That's a good point.
- 37:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so uh does that not make the um the resin gummy, especially if it's a water washable kind?
- 38:01SPEAKER_06: No, I I don't think so.
- 38:02SPEAKER_06: I mean, it should be as long as it's fully cured, you know.
- 38:05SPEAKER_06: I mean, I wouldn't obviously go too crazy, but I think you could get away with if you got a good filler primer, get away with something a little bit more aggressive, maybe like a 220 or 180 or something like that, just to knock down any Z shift, do a good wet sand, get a good wet dry pay or a wet paper, and it uh won't create dust.
- 38:26SPEAKER_08: That that is a thing because I was using my my like rotating sander, a little Z tool or whatever they call it.
- 38:33SPEAKER_08: Uh, that does not have a water resistant paper on it, it just falls apart because paper backed and all that kind of stuff.
- 38:39SPEAKER_08: So um, no, that's a great tip, and uh that brings the question to mind.
- 38:44SPEAKER_08: I was wondering how you guys feel about just priming the stuff first and then sanding it and then priming it after you sand it.
- 38:51SPEAKER_08: How do you feel about that?
- 38:53SPEAKER_06: You you could.
- 38:54SPEAKER_06: I mean, that um I was telling Jason, I talked to him recently, so this guitar that I'm that I talked about earlier, I'm refinishing.
- 39:02SPEAKER_06: I went and bought some of the um the high build primer that Mac actually mentioned when we had him on.
- 39:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, cool.
- 39:10SPEAKER_06: Um, you know, talk talking about the uh Granacon show.
- 39:13SPEAKER_06: And it's been a while since I bought any of that um SEM high build primer, and I bought it from my local O'Reilly's, and I just about shipped my pants when the guy said it was$47 for a can of high build primer.
- 39:32SPEAKER_06: I about fell over it and I need it for you, Rob.
- 39:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so I I need that, and um, I just paid the money and I used a very little bit on the guitar, and I've got some left for the uh Baja Beetle.
- 39:47SPEAKER_06: That stuff does go on really heavy.
- 39:50SPEAKER_06: So depending on what you have for Z shift, theoretically, if the body's clean, you know, maybe put that down and start from there, you know.
- 39:59SPEAKER_06: Maybe, maybe it would be less work.
- 40:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's what I was wondering.
- 40:03SPEAKER_08: Instead of trying to sand everything smooth, just hit it with the high build primer first and then have your work perhaps.
- 40:09SPEAKER_08: You cut your work in half.
- 40:10SPEAKER_06: The resin or by a quarter.
- 40:13SPEAKER_06: The resin's pretty soft, right?
- 40:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 40:16SPEAKER_06: So if it's uh similar, you know, for lack of better term, viscosity is the primer and it sands evenly equally, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
- 40:27SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 40:28SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 40:29SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna give that a try.
- 40:30SPEAKER_08: I don't know about dropping forty bucks on the on a can of primer though.
- 40:34SPEAKER_06: Well, I went back and looked at some of the online retailers and you know, 20, 25 bucks by the time you pay sales tax, which here in Vermont we have to pay sales tax even on online purchases, and then ship it, you're gonna spend 35, 40 bucks, you know, and then it's not right in front of you, then you're waiting two weeks or whatever, you know.
- 40:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so I just pit the bullet, but all that stuff has gotten just ridiculously expensive, you know.
- 41:01SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 41:02SPEAKER_07: I had really good luck with the$13 duple color hop hydroprimer.
- 41:07SPEAKER_06: I I was I was looking at that.
- 41:08SPEAKER_07: Did you use that on your I use that on the Baja bug, yeah.
- 41:12SPEAKER_07: Of course I I sanded put on my the respirator that I airbrush with and I I sanded first because I figured that's the way you're supposed to do it, right?
- 41:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I didn't really think about priming first, but I sanded first, not too much, just a little bit here and there, and then I primered it.
- 41:31SPEAKER_07: Um, and then I sanded it one more time and then primered it again, and I very minimal lines came through there.
- 41:41SPEAKER_08: Excellent.
- 41:42SPEAKER_08: Okay, good, good to know, good to know.
- 41:44SPEAKER_08: Speaking of shipping things, we we were all still we thought we were gonna have a nice uh early day today because we're all standing around looking at each other, and then Jody's like sends me a screenshot of an order he placed online, and sure enough it popped up on on my shipping manager's screen, and she's like, Oh, we got one.
- 41:59SPEAKER_08: I'm like, Yeah, I know that guy.
- 42:03SPEAKER_08: So I ended up pulling uh Jody's order real quick and then uh running around and uh shipping it out for him as fast as possible.
- 42:10SPEAKER_06: I had to buy that uh I had to buy that Soviet artillery tractor.
- 42:13SPEAKER_08: Did you?
- 42:14SPEAKER_08: Nice.
- 42:14SPEAKER_08: I did, yeah.
- 42:15SPEAKER_08: I'm glad you did because it was the only one we had on stock.
- 42:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you had two different you had two different, you had an early and maybe late production.
- 42:23SPEAKER_06: One of them was sold out.
- 42:24SPEAKER_06: I was like, shit.
- 42:26SPEAKER_06: And then I started looking, then I found the other one, which is the picture I sent you.
- 42:30SPEAKER_07: So yeah, that's cool.
- 42:31SPEAKER_06: I may have grabbed a couple of mini art kits too that I didn't need, so yeah, yeah.
- 42:36SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 42:37SPEAKER_07: Well, I was gonna say I've been purchasing a lot of stuff as of late, and I need to stop.
- 42:44SPEAKER_06: Me too.
- 42:44SPEAKER_07: I I'm out of room.
- 42:46SPEAKER_07: I mean, I was out of room before and moved a lot of the stuff to storage, and now I'm right back to where I was before.
- 42:52SPEAKER_07: I'm even more out of room.
- 42:54SPEAKER_08: So I I'll uh I'll tell you guys uh something that's really messed up as I sold over 70 model kits, right?
- 43:01SPEAKER_08: Car kits, and yeah, I thought it was gonna make a big dent in my my my collection space.
- 43:05SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 43:06SPEAKER_08: And then I I had all this cash in hand and I ended up buying some military kits.
- 43:11SPEAKER_08: Well, military kits are bigger, yeah, box-wise.
- 43:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:18SPEAKER_08: I mean, like they're like, I've got less kits but no space.
- 43:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah, exactly.
- 43:24SPEAKER_08: I have less kits and even less space.
- 43:26SPEAKER_08: Exactly.
- 43:28SPEAKER_08: Frickin' physics.
- 43:29SPEAKER_08: Um now I gotta have another sale.
- 43:32SPEAKER_06: You right?
- 43:33SPEAKER_06: You you pull out your Game Boy and start playing Tetris just to kind of figure out how to get everything put on the shelves.
- 43:39SPEAKER_10: Well, I mean Jody can testify.
- 43:42SPEAKER_07: I've bought more military stuff in the past month, but not only online ordering, but at shows than I have cars, right?
- 43:51SPEAKER_07: So I at PacCon I bought one car.
- 43:56SPEAKER_06: I I may I may have suckered Jason into buying something at PacCon.
- 44:00SPEAKER_06: Oh oh was it was it a bed or something or what?
- 44:04SPEAKER_06: No, go ahead.
- 44:05SPEAKER_06: Go ahead and tell him Jody.
- 44:07SPEAKER_06: It was a I can't remember what the kit was.
- 44:12SPEAKER_06: It's always the oddball.
- 44:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 44:14SPEAKER_06: It was like an amphibious um gecko model or something.
- 44:18SPEAKER_06: It was a gecko model, yeah.
- 44:19SPEAKER_06: Personnel carrier.
- 44:22SPEAKER_06: Was it the weasel?
- 44:23SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 44:25SPEAKER_06: I think it was a new, so I've got both of them.
- 44:27SPEAKER_06: I've got the early production and then the late production.
- 44:30SPEAKER_07: Late, yeah.
- 44:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so it was one of those.
- 44:32SPEAKER_06: John Rouscher from the New Hampshire area.
- 44:35SPEAKER_06: He had two of them.
- 44:36SPEAKER_06: And I said, Man, check this out.
- 44:37SPEAKER_06: And he's like, Where'd you get that?
- 44:39SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we're sitting there eating lunch.
- 44:40SPEAKER_07: I said, there was another one.
- 44:42SPEAKER_07: Heather and I are eating lunch, and he's like, Check this out.
- 44:45SPEAKER_07: I was like, dude, where did you get that?
- 44:48SPEAKER_07: Well, let me guess.
- 44:49SPEAKER_07: You bought the the only one, right?
- 44:50SPEAKER_07: He goes, Nope, there's one more left, and it's right there.
- 44:52SPEAKER_07: And he points over, and I'm like, Heather, I'll be right back.
- 44:56SPEAKER_07: I got up in the middle of lunch and like went over and uh bought that.
- 45:01SPEAKER_07: I think I bought one car.
- 45:02SPEAKER_07: I dude, I haven't been buying many cars, I've been buying a lot of military stuff.
- 45:07SPEAKER_06: Me too.
- 45:08SPEAKER_06: And I have to say, I love those geckos and mini art kits.
- 45:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and I'm just terrified to death to put those things together with the amount of parts that are in there.
- 45:17SPEAKER_08: Gecko makes some good stuff.
- 45:18SPEAKER_08: And I tell you what, though, the gecko uh gecko has a uh hovercraft from Vietnam era that looks just like the killer whale from the GIG series.
- 45:27SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 45:28SPEAKER_08: Now I've gotta find that, and it even has a shark mouth painted on it, too.
- 45:32SPEAKER_08: So if you want to do the decals for that, oh that's awesome!
- 45:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:36SPEAKER_06: I really like those oddballs, like the otter.
- 45:39SPEAKER_06: I've got the otter, it's uh tract amphibious.
- 45:42SPEAKER_06: The other ones, I bought this other thing that really literally looks like a uh croc shoe minus the holes in it.
- 45:50SPEAKER_06: I bought that I was like, that thing's just too ugly.
- 45:53SPEAKER_08: I'm like, nobody's buying that, nobody's gonna build that.
- 45:55SPEAKER_08: I'm buying I'm not the one you mean.
- 45:56SPEAKER_08: It looks like it should be some sort of I think wasn't it Russian or something like that?
- 45:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but I think it looks like a looks like a baked potato with wheels.
- 46:04SPEAKER_06: I I bought one this weekend at or last weekend at Granacon.
- 46:08SPEAKER_06: It looks like a Dutch clog.
- 46:10SPEAKER_06: It does.
- 46:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:13SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 46:13SPEAKER_06: I just something about those kits are just really cool, man.
- 46:17SPEAKER_07: He's what we're walking out to go to lunch, and he's like, Look at look at this Jody kit.
- 46:21SPEAKER_07: I'm looking at it and I'm like, that is the ugliest thing I think I've ever seen.
- 46:26SPEAKER_08: Okay, I think we're coining a new term here.
- 46:28SPEAKER_08: The Jody Kit.
- 46:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah, the ugly duckling kit, right?
- 46:32SPEAKER_08: Is that it is my am I in part?
- 46:34SPEAKER_08: Is that you're just really cool?
- 46:35SPEAKER_06: I mean, uh, you just don't see those at model shows, you know.
- 46:38SPEAKER_06: I mean, if I get the gumption to build it, it's just it's tough, you know.
- 46:43SPEAKER_06: The otter kit, I can't remember the gentleman's name.
- 46:46SPEAKER_06: I kind of seen him on Facebook.
- 46:49SPEAKER_06: Um, I think he's over on the insanity page, but he's been building one to like a really high level of detail, and it's nice mind-blowing.
- 46:56SPEAKER_06: I'm like, I can't do that with this, you know.
- 46:58SPEAKER_06: Uh I don't have the skills and ability, but just the same, it'd be really cool to build those, you know.
- 47:03SPEAKER_06: They're just really neat subjects that you don't see.
- 47:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so totally, totally.
- 47:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we're still waiting for another shipment of car models to come into the store.
- 47:13SPEAKER_08: Um, because when I place the order, everything half of what I put on the plate on the order wasn't supposed to be out until late July, August, September type of thing.
- 47:23SPEAKER_08: So I'm like, I'm not really hoping that round two will actually send us the stuff we want.
- 47:27SPEAKER_08: Cause I'm like, ooh, didn't realize there was dates on that.
- 47:31SPEAKER_08: Whoops, because I'm like, there's there's not a lot of stuff I ordered here.
- 47:36SPEAKER_08: What happened?
- 47:36SPEAKER_08: Uh-oh.
- 47:37SPEAKER_08: That's all right.
- 47:38SPEAKER_08: Um I haven't been fired yet, so I guess I'm doing all right.
- 47:41SPEAKER_09: Nice.
- 47:41SPEAKER_06: Fantastic.
- 47:42SPEAKER_08: So uh Jody, what do you got on your bench?
- 47:46SPEAKER_06: So I'm working currently on the um well, I just so I just finished.
- 47:52SPEAKER_06: I I the the inevitable uh in perpetuity 2526 slash 2627 Saturday night short track group build.
- 48:03SPEAKER_06: Oh right.
- 48:04SPEAKER_06: I got I got I got that done.
- 48:07SPEAKER_06: Uh that was the uh I built the old um AMT Gremlin Super Modified, and I kind of took a page out of my good buddy Jason Hanscom's uh a page out of his book where I bought a bunch of decal kits from Mike's decals a while ago and um kind of looked through the decals to figure out what would fit the car best because it's a pretty small body and the hood just the way the it's configured, and I ended up settling on the um Daryl Waltrip um Mountain Dew from the 1981 Buick Regal.
- 48:43SPEAKER_06: So I kind of sized them up and said I think these will work because the the the length of the decals, because that's multicolored.
- 48:52SPEAKER_06: So I cut up the decals and masked it all off and kind of built a uh fantasy, if you will, and um did all the chassis and uh tmia micro red um lacquer, so I didn't clear coat or anything.
- 49:08SPEAKER_06: It's got a little bit of a sheen to it, which is like perfect, and added a 3D printed carb, did some seat belts in it, but pretty much on that box stock, and then the outside I painted it um the tmiya pearl white lacquer base, yeah, and then masked it off for the uh two-tone and painted the green, it's a uh Mr.
- 49:30SPEAKER_06: Hobby metallic green color.
- 49:33SPEAKER_06: So painted the base, masked it, painted the second color, put the decals on for the separation of the colors, and then 2K cleared it and then put the last of the decals over the top.
- 49:46SPEAKER_06: So right on turned tur turned out really well, actually.
- 49:49SPEAKER_06: I I think I think uh for what it is, you know, it's in concept.
- 49:54SPEAKER_06: I really liked the one Jason did.
- 49:56SPEAKER_06: He did a uh was that the Rat Trap Vega with uh David Pearson, right?
- 50:00SPEAKER_06: Is that who it was?
- 50:01SPEAKER_07: Uh it was, yeah, Wood Brothers David Pearson.
- 50:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and that was just super, super cool.
- 50:07SPEAKER_06: So uh it was fun to get that done, you know.
- 50:09SPEAKER_06: It took a little bit, but um I'm happy with the way it turned out.
- 50:15SPEAKER_06: So I just finished that up, but on the bench currently I've got the next uh magazine build, which is the MPC 32 Chevrolet uh street rod, the roadster kit.
- 50:27SPEAKER_06: And oddly enough, I just bought that kit from our buddy uh Mike Gordon at Classic Plastic, and then I got the email from Scott Colmer like the week after said, Oh, here are your choices.
- 50:36SPEAKER_03: I was like, damn.
- 50:38SPEAKER_06: I was like, I don't really want to build the other ones.
- 50:40SPEAKER_06: I said, Well, I'll build a 32 Chevy.
- 50:42SPEAKER_06: So um I had it on hand, so I was able to start it a little bit early, cleaning it and all that stuff.
- 50:49SPEAKER_06: So last night I just had a good old-fashioned paint party.
- 50:52SPEAKER_06: You know, I bring all the different colors, I'm gonna paint stuff and do a quick clean between, and it's just easier to do that, get it all out of the way.
- 51:00SPEAKER_06: Uh had to do a little bit of fiddly work to get the body to kind of fit up nice, but that's ready for primer.
- 51:07SPEAKER_06: Um, and then the Mount Mansfield Club, we're doing this AFV build right now, and I built the uh it's an audio podcast, but um the Challenger uh M1 or Challenger 1 Mark III.
- 51:21SPEAKER_06: This is me uh 135th.
- 51:24SPEAKER_06: So this is pretty much built out, it just needs to be uh primed and painted, so that's kind of next to kind of get that done.
- 51:32SPEAKER_06: And then what else?
- 51:34SPEAKER_06: I'm still looking at six kits over here that are just staring at me that are being neglected currently.
- 51:39SPEAKER_06: But I want to get started on the uh Baja Beetle, that's really next.
- 51:43SPEAKER_06: So once I get this uh 32 Chevy primed and painted, kind of keep moving that along to be done for the beginning of November.
- 51:51SPEAKER_06: My hope is the Sunday live, I'll probably pick up the uh Baja Beetle kit and start start kind of going through that and working on that.
- 51:59SPEAKER_06: So got a few ideas, but I'd like to definitely get kind of started on that.
- 52:04SPEAKER_06: So I think I'm the last one.
- 52:06SPEAKER_06: I think well, let's be honest.
- 52:09SPEAKER_06: Uh Mikey's out in the oblivion somewhere, his probably isn't started yet either.
- 52:13SPEAKER_06: So no, but I think Justin's probably is pretty close to being done, and yeah, I'll let Jason speak to his.
- 52:18SPEAKER_06: And you've started yours, so it's time to get going on it.
- 52:21SPEAKER_06: So that's it for me.
- 52:22SPEAKER_08: You'll still be done before me.
- 52:23SPEAKER_08: I got a question for you though.
- 52:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah the DeLorean build uh magazine.
- 52:28SPEAKER_08: How how did you like that Oshima kit?
- 52:30SPEAKER_08: What were you gonna do?
- 52:31SPEAKER_06: Oh, it's fantastic.
- 52:32SPEAKER_06: The only the only thing I would say that I didn't like about it particularly was the engine bay was um it was all molded in.
- 52:41SPEAKER_06: It was all you know, it was basically like a tub with molded in.
- 52:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and there was some decals on the decal sheet, and there was some little fiddly bits that you could glue on to add more detail, but the engine cover itself is buried under the body, which is buried under the rear louvers.
- 53:00SPEAKER_06: Oh the only way to actually see the engine detail is you'd have to take the engine cover that goes over the engine, you'd have to cut the hood section itself out, and then the the rear louvers operated very minimally without like forcing them to open.
- 53:18SPEAKER_06: So if you could work through that and get the engine cover to come off or hinge that, I think it really offers itself to be able to build a really nice, fully detailed kit or get a good level of detail out of it.
- 53:32SPEAKER_06: Um but you know, with the way that most of us do things, you know, uh modern set of wheels, lowered, you could do a bunch of stuff with that.
- 53:41SPEAKER_06: But the kit itself was fantastic, everything was pinned together.
- 53:46SPEAKER_06: The glass was the clearest glass I think I've ever seen.
- 53:49SPEAKER_06: It was like crystal clear.
- 53:51SPEAKER_06: Um, everything is like positively pinned.
- 53:54SPEAKER_06: So the final assembly of that thing was just an absolute breeze.
- 53:58SPEAKER_06: Of course, I did the brush metal, the brush stainless look on it, and I kind of outlaid that in the magazine how I did all that.
- 54:05SPEAKER_06: It was a it was a good kit.
- 54:07SPEAKER_06: I uh would turn me on enough to buy some more of those, given the opportunity.
- 54:12SPEAKER_08: So because it's a it's a good brand.
- 54:14SPEAKER_08: They do some cool, they have a night rider kit that's actually amazing.
- 54:17SPEAKER_06: Oh, really?
- 54:18SPEAKER_08: Craig's corner.
- 54:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 54:20SPEAKER_08: Yeah, Craig's Corner did one and he had it at Acme the year I was there, and I was checking it out, and he was talking about it.
- 54:28SPEAKER_08: I'm like, okay, I gotta get one of these, and I went over to the vendor area.
- 54:30SPEAKER_08: God damn it, they had one, so I bought it.
- 54:35SPEAKER_08: I went back over to Craig.
- 54:36SPEAKER_08: I'm like, this is your fault.
- 54:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 54:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it was a it was a good kit.
- 54:40SPEAKER_06: It was uh good.
- 54:41SPEAKER_08: I'm really glad to hear that.
- 54:42SPEAKER_08: And it sounds like Oshima has done a better job with it than uh DeLorean did originally, so yeah, I would say it's probably accurate, yeah.
- 54:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I would say so.
- 54:51SPEAKER_08: Yeah, right.
- 54:52SPEAKER_08: Cool.
- 54:52SPEAKER_08: Thank you very much, Joey.
- 54:54SPEAKER_08: Jason, what you got going on in your bench, bud?
- 54:56SPEAKER_07: Uh well, so I finished a couple in the past few weeks.
- 55:01SPEAKER_07: Um I was I had last year for the USAC build, I decided I was gonna build two Camaros.
- 55:07SPEAKER_07: And I built a full tube chassis race car, and my goal was to build its stock counterpart.
- 55:16SPEAKER_07: So I painted both bodies at the same time, same color.
- 55:20SPEAKER_07: Um, and then the stock one just kind of fell by the wayside, as you know, as sometimes builds do, um, and it sat untouched for about a year.
- 55:31SPEAKER_07: But I decided to dig that back out, and um I kind of deviated from the idea a little bit.
- 55:37SPEAKER_07: Instead of completely stock, I did like a pro touring style um with the steel wheels and the in the dog dish hubcaps and put an LSX motor in it.
- 55:46SPEAKER_07: Uh so I finished that up and was able to get that to actually Granicon was where I the first place it's been to.
- 55:54SPEAKER_07: Big deal.
- 55:55SPEAKER_07: Um And then I also finished the I finished the actual Baja bug from Iceman.
- 56:02SPEAKER_07: The car itself is done.
- 56:03SPEAKER_07: Well, with the exception of the wiper blades.
- 56:06SPEAKER_07: So the wiper arms, um, trying to get them off of the supports was not good, and they broke.
- 56:14SPEAKER_07: My fault a hundred percent, but uh and I meant to take some out of a revell Volkswagen kit that I had that's like a parts kit, and I'm like, I'm just gonna use these, it'll they'll be fine.
- 56:27SPEAKER_07: Um, and I I'm still gonna put those on, but the car itself, otherwise, is done.
- 56:32SPEAKER_07: Um, but I want to build a build, I want to make a vignette style base.
- 56:39SPEAKER_07: So I went um yesterday actually and picked out a base and some plaster, something or other stuff.
- 56:48SPEAKER_07: I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to building the base, right?
- 56:51SPEAKER_07: Our friend TJ from the Sunday Live.
- 56:54SPEAKER_07: He's like, this is what you need to do.
- 56:55SPEAKER_07: Go to Hobby Lobby, buy A, B, C, and D.
- 56:57SPEAKER_07: And I was like, okay, sounds good.
- 56:58SPEAKER_07: And I went and that's what I did.
- 57:00SPEAKER_07: Uh so I've got the stuff to build the bait the base, but haven't quite started on it yet.
- 57:06SPEAKER_07: The bug came out fantastic.
- 57:08SPEAKER_07: Uh it fits together great, it looks great.
- 57:12SPEAKER_07: Like I said, the only thing that I had a problem with, and it was me, was you know, trying to get the wiper blades and arms off of the supports with, you know, big clumsy hands that I've got.
- 57:24SPEAKER_07: So that's done.
- 57:26SPEAKER_07: Um, and I've got currently open and sitting on uh the bench is the Tamiya Mugen CRX.
- 57:37SPEAKER_07: So I wanna that's a nice quick curbside style build.
- 57:42SPEAKER_07: Gonna do that while I'm trying to figure out what else to jump on.
- 57:46SPEAKER_07: Like Jody, I've got five started things here.
- 57:49SPEAKER_07: I've got a Super B and a Bronco, and I've got the Spaghetti Meatballs Ferrari, and I've got just stuff that I could jump on.
- 57:56SPEAKER_07: I thought the spaghetti meatballs was done.
- 57:59SPEAKER_07: No gosh, no.
- 58:00SPEAKER_07: Spaghetti Meatballs has kind of been sitting for two years now, I think.
- 58:04SPEAKER_07: Oh wow.
- 58:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's been a while.
- 58:07SPEAKER_07: Um, but I'm probably gonna do the responsible thing and start something new.
- 58:11SPEAKER_07: I just don't know what yet.
- 58:14SPEAKER_07: Responsible thing.
- 58:18SPEAKER_07: Um, talking about buying lots of military stuff, I did pick up an ICM G4 uh German personnel carrier, the car version.
- 58:32SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 58:33SPEAKER_07: In 124th scale.
- 58:36SPEAKER_07: Oh, nice.
- 58:38SPEAKER_07: I very much want to work on that.
- 58:41SPEAKER_07: Uh that's a cool kit.
- 58:44SPEAKER_07: That's a really cool kit.
- 58:46SPEAKER_07: Um, you talk about detailed 258 pieces.
- 58:52SPEAKER_07: None of them are big.
- 58:54SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 58:56SPEAKER_07: That that is a detailed kit, and I think it's different.
- 59:00SPEAKER_07: I've never seen one built.
- 59:02SPEAKER_07: Didn't even know it existed in that scale until I was dead, I was like doom scrolling one night um and found it online.
- 59:09SPEAKER_07: I was like, oh, oh, I need to purchase this.
- 59:13SPEAKER_08: ICM's a funny company, they will do that that odd 24 scale here and there, you know.
- 59:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 59:20SPEAKER_08: Um, I was looking my actually my warehouse manager Gene had pulled me uh aside today and he was like, Hey, do you remember that uh Rankin and Bass show where they they talk about Santa Claus?
- 59:30SPEAKER_08: I'm like, Yeah, like the the history of Santa Claus, like that, like from back in the 60s.
- 59:34SPEAKER_08: He goes, Yeah, uh, I had uh Fred Astera as the mailman at the beginning of it.
- 59:37SPEAKER_08: Like, yeah, yeah, I remember that.
- 59:38SPEAKER_08: He goes, Remember that Jeep he was driving?
- 59:40SPEAKER_08: I'm like, it wasn't a Jeep, that was actually a model model T done up with uh tracks and and uh and skis.
- 59:48SPEAKER_08: He's like, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 59:49SPEAKER_08: He's like, I found the truck.
- 59:50SPEAKER_08: I'm like, Oh, okay.
- 59:51SPEAKER_08: So we go over to the to the rack, and he's sure enough, he points out the exact ICM kit in this 24 scale, and I'm like, I'm like, with a little modification, you could make that into it.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_08: He goes, Yeah, you should do that.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_08: And I'm like, Oh, thanks.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_08: So we just add that to this shit pile I got going on.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah, wow, so nice of him.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_06: Go over and go over and kick the rack.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_07: God damn it.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_07: Okay, so two two things.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_07: A send me, can you send me the link for that kit?
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_07: Okay, because if you find I I might buy that.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_07: That sounds cool.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_07: Um, and second, I want to say that one of the other military kits I bought in the past few weeks was the Andes Hobby Headquarters, the hat the M3 Half Tracks.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_06: Oh my I also bought both of those after the Jason.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_07: They are nice, right?
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_08: What an amazing kit.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_08: What an amazing kit.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_08: Do you want to take it a step further?
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_08: He actually has from Adam Paints a special packet of paint for those model kits.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_06: Oh, cool.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_08: Um, hang on a second.

- 1:03:34SPEAKER_08: Then we're back.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_08: Thank you, Jody.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_08: So it's uh Adam Paints number uh part number two zero seven three seven, and it's the US Armor World War II color set, and it actually has a picture of the look at that half track on the cover, and it comes with all these paints in here.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_08: So it's got uh a thinner, cleaner, uh washable dust, which I've used, and that is awesome type stuff.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_08: So that's good for great for weathering.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_08: Uh gun metal, rubber tire color, uh, dark olive drab, and chipping color.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_08: So you can chip the thing all up too.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_08: So it's gonna be could you please repeat that number?
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_08: Sure, it's 2073.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_08: Uh operators will be waiting for your call right now.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_06: 20737, take it away.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah, excellent.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_07: I might have to order that.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_08: That sounds 24 bucks plus shipping, you know.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_07: Oh, that's nothing, that's nothing, nothing, yeah.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_08: So, yeah, so yeah, so Adam and Andy worked together and they actually made a uh a set just for that.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_08: That's really cool.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_08: Uh, I like those color sets because if you're not into doing that kind of stuff and you want to try it and you don't know what colors to use, these things will help you out.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_08: So yeah, um, I kind of wish they had car sets like that.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_08: So it's like your Mopar stuff, so would it have like your Mopar engine color, uh orange or blue or whatever type depending, you know, yeah, and then like the the body colors, uh like and then interior color, stuff like that.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_08: So it'd be kind of interesting if if people did sets like that for the automotive world, armor world, no problem.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_08: But uh, I mean, we even have paints for um starships and stuff, you know.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_08: So, but do we have anything for automotive?
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_08: No, yeah, why not cars?
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_08: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_08: I mean, people go, Oh, there's too many options or whatever, like, but Chevy Engine Orange is Chevy Engine Orange, you know, seriously if you're selling a paint set.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_06: If you're smart, you would uh you would take, you know, you could still do a paint set, but do maybe like two options for body color, two interior options, tire black, Chevy Engine orange, and maybe uh aluminum or chrome, you know.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_06: I mean, that gets you 90% right there, you know, with uh you know eight eight paints or something in a set.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that'd be pretty neat, actually.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah, because like because if you're if let's say you're sitting down to order a car, right?
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_08: I don't know if you can still do this or not, but it back in the day you sit down to order a car, they give you those color chips, and they're like, here's your list of colors for the for the price level that you're paying for, and those colors translate into you can do two.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_08: Tone, you know, and then if you want to do a two-tone, these are your interior color options.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_08: Here's a list of those, and you can sit there and take off what you want, and then they go, they build the car, they bring it out, and they give it to you.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_08: I don't know how long it's supposed to take, a week or whatever.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_08: And then uh, do you have the custom custom made car with the uh custom color combinations and stuff?
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_08: So interesting.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_08: I think that would be an uh an awesome thing.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_08: So maybe maybe they don't have pre-made sets, but you can contact somebody, tropical glitz or scale finishes.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_08: I'm sorry, where you just be like, Okay, look, I want to do a color set when I want it this engine color, I want this underside underbody color, I want this, this, this, and just tick off what you want, and they just put those paints together, and then boom, here's your set.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_08: That'd be kind of fun.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_08: That would be because there is a lot of options out there, so for sure.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_08: Yeah, okay.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_08: Well, million dollar idea, hand it out free once again here on Model Cromics.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_06: Anybody listening?
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, right.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_08: Well, I like giving out these ideas at the end of the show because nobody gets this far into so it's cool.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_08: Exactly.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_07: There you go.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_07: I'm just gonna watch, yeah.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_07: Did they actually say that?
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_07: I've had a couple, yeah, comments lately.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_08: Wow, yeah, okay.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so then if you make a seven minute video, they'll be like, I gave up at three and a half minutes.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's making me question am I a good YouTuber?
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_08: I gave up at a quarter scale minutes.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_08: A quarter scale minutes.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_08: What is seven minutes?
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_08: Quarter scale minutes.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_08: All right, boy, I think it's about time we do our sign-offs.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_08: We don't have Justin here to do his velvety, his velvety smog stuff.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_08: So who wants to take a crack at that?
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_07: Uh let's see.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_07: I see.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_07: I used to do this way back when in another lifetime.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_07: Uh let's see.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_07: How did it go?
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_07: If you like this podcast, nope, it does.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_07: I think it's like scale model.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_07: I think it's scale model podcast.com.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_07: It's a consortium website.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_07: Oh, it's coming back where you can find lots of other modeling type podcasts and short form blogs, something like that.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah, go look, go look it up.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_07: Cracking it up perfect.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_06: Nice work.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_06: Justin has been replaced.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_08: Jason, you're rehired.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_08: There you go.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_08: You're back in.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_08: Wait, that's more of a demotion, isn't it?
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, I would say so.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_08: So uh okay, cool.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_08: Well, uh, why don't you go ahead and lead us in the goodbyes, Jody?
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah, thanks for uh thanks for uh stopping in, everybody.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_06: It was a quick little uh jammer here to get out, but um it's good, you know.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_06: It's um it's getting to be uh getting to be winter here real quick up here in the northeast.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_06: So uh time to put the lawn furniture away.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_06: I've got uh one more mo to do to kind of mulch up leaves and um try to get some of that stuff done on uh on Sunday.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_06: It's supposed to be nice up here, but uh the snow is coming.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_06: So uh looking forward to um the winter months, lots of bench time, hanging out with my buddies virtually and in person, and um season's coming, go buy some glue and build something.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_06: Catch you guys on the next one.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_07: Right on, brother.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_07: Uh Jason?
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_07: Yeah, like Jody said, it's time to put the lawn furniture away and dig out the long johns, because it's getting cold up here.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_07: Um thanks for thanks for tuning in again.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_07: Um maybe we'll have Mikey and Justin on the next one.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_07: We'll try.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_07: Yeah, as guests.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_09: Tune in, it's a mystery.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_09: Nobody knows.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it's gonna be like a Scooby-Doo episode.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_07: Professor Hyde White.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_07: Anyway, all joking aside, thanks for listening again, everybody.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_07: I really appreciate all of you.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_07: Thank you.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_06: You pull the mask off, it was Rob Rev the whole time.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_07: Yep, exactly.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_06: You pull the mask off, Mikey, and it was Rob Rev.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah, goddammit.
