- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Ready for another tiny Italian lesson? Lucas: Absolutely. Today, we're going back to the park — but we're looking up. Luna: Looking up? At the clouds again? Lucas: No, no — we already did clouds. Today, we're describing a bird. Luna: Oh, I love birds! They're so pretty. What's 'bird' in Italian? Lucas: Un uccello. Say it with me — un uccello. Luna: Un uccello. Un uccello. That's nice. Lucas: Yeah. And a bird has a beak — in Italian, il becco. Luna: Il becco. So 'the beak' is il becco. Lucas: Exactly. And feathers are le piume. Luna: Le piume. Like the soft stuff on a bird. Lucas: Right. So let's use these. A bird sings — l'uccello canta. Luna: L'uccello canta. That's beautiful. Lucas: And a bird flies — l'uccello vola. Luna: L'uccello vola. Okay, I think I've got it. Let me try a sentence. Lucas: Please do. Luna: Un uccello ha il becco e le piume. Lucas: Perfect! A bird has a beak and feathers. You nailed it. Luna: And l'uccello canta? That means the bird sings? Lucas: Yes. And if it flies, l'uccello vola. Luna: L'uccello vola. I love that. So what if I see a bird singing in a tree? Lucas: You could say: 'Un uccello canta su un albero.' Luna: Un uccello canta su un albero. That's a whole sentence. Lucas: Yep. And if it flies away, you say: 'L'uccello vola via.' Luna: Via means 'away'. So l'uccello vola via. Lucas: Exactly. Let's do a quick practice. Repeat after me: un uccello. Luna: Un uccello. Lucas: Il becco. Luna: Il becco. Lucas: Le piume. Luna: Le piume. Lucas: L'uccello canta. Luna: L'uccello canta. Lucas: L'uccello vola. Luna: L'uccello vola. Lucas: Great job. Now, imagine you're at the park and you see a bird with colorful feathers. Luna: Un uccello con piume colorate. Lucas: Yes! And if it's singing beautifully, you say: 'Che bel canto!' Luna: Che bel canto! What a beautiful song. Lucas: Exactly. So you could say: 'Un uccello con piume colorate canta. Che bel canto!' Luna: Un uccello con piume colorate canta. Che bel canto! That's lovely. Lucas: You're getting really good at this. Let's do one more: if you see a bird flying high. Luna: L'uccello vola in alto. Lucas: Fantastic. In alto means high up. So l'uccello vola in alto. Luna: L'uccello vola in alto. I can picture it. Lucas: Now, let's put it all together in a tiny story. Ready? Luna: Yes! Lucas: Oggi al parco vedo un uccello. Il becco è piccolo. Le piume sono blu. L'uccello canta. Poi, l'uccello vola via. Luna: Oggi al parco vedo un uccello. Il becco è piccolo. Le piume sono blu. L'uccello canta. Poi, l'uccello vola via. Lucas: Perfect. You just told a whole story in Italian. Luna: I did! That feels amazing. Lucas: And you know what? Lucas: Wonderful. Keep practicing these, and next time you're at the park, describe the birds in Italian. Luna: And don't forget to listen to their song! Arrivederci from Fexingo. Lucas: Arrivederci!
