- 1:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Oh what are we doing here today?
- 1:51Speaker 3: Oh? Man? We it's a rough game this week. It
- 1:54Speaker 3: is a rough one. That's why Dan's not here. It's
- 1:56Speaker 3: one of the bad movies Star Trek five, The Final Frontier.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yes, you're also known as Bill Shatner's Dumpster Fire.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Oh my god. Yeah, I uh yeah, I realized I'd
- 2:10Speaker 3: never watched the movie completely until now.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Really.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah, congratulations, thank you, thank you.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was a rough man, it was rough.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I watched it. I watched it last night. I
- 2:27Speaker 2: watched it about four years ago, and then I watched
- 2:31Speaker 2: it again last night. I fell asleep during the movie,
- 2:35Speaker 2: which is the first time in a long time I
- 2:36Speaker 2: fallen asleep, like when I intentionally sat down to watch
- 2:40Speaker 2: a Star Trek movie.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah, uh yeah, it was.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It's universally and well regarded as a bad movie. It's
- 2:48Speaker 2: it's well accepted as a bad movie, and for multiple reasons.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of reasons. Why it's bad.
- 2:58Speaker 1: It was directed by William Shatner. We'll get into that after.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, but well, and I started analyzing it, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 3: as somebody who's getting into that field, you know, screenwriting,
- 3:12Speaker 3: and right, yeah, I've got some issues why it was bad.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Yeah, probably some notes.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I've got some notes. Yeah, yeah, I've got some notes.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I have some ideas, but we could have done different,
- 3:23Speaker 3: so right, yeah, so.
- 3:25Speaker 1: We'll make sure we get those notes William Shatner into
- 3:27Speaker 1: the late late.
- 3:28Speaker 3: H yeah, yeah, like forty years too late. Yeah, right, yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 3: but yeah, it'll be fun to talk about at least,
- 3:35Speaker 3: you know. And then the next show, we've got one
- 3:39Speaker 3: of the good ones.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I'm just gonna country it's my favorite of the original
- 3:42Speaker 2: series movies.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So yeah, it's really good. I do remember that liking
- 3:47Speaker 3: it at one a lot.
- 3:48Speaker 2: So should we let everybody know right off the bat
- 3:50Speaker 2: that next week we're going to be recording an hour early.
- 3:53Speaker 3: That's what I was gonna say, Yes, kay, special note, Yes,
- 3:56Speaker 3: we will be recording an hour early next week, so
- 4:00Speaker 3: beware of that people.
- 4:02Speaker 2: It was in my rider that I have to have
- 4:04Speaker 2: an hour early next week along with a bowl of
- 4:07Speaker 2: Eminem's where all the blue ones removed, so can you
- 4:10Speaker 2: make sure you make that happen.
- 4:12Speaker 3: We'll see if I can do a show at six
- 4:13Speaker 3: am for me.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Oh god, I'm sorry.
- 4:17Speaker 3: It's okay, it's okay.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Are you too, you're set your Mountain time right Pacific?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Oh you are? Oh you're Pacific?
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Oh okay, yeah, okay, yeah, well okay.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It's fine for all you Pacific people. We'll be doing
- 4:34Speaker 2: the show. It's six am. Yeah, yeah, you can catch
- 4:38Speaker 2: the recording later, right, Yeah, we'll be doing live at
- 4:41Speaker 2: sick So I expect to hear from some Pacific time
- 4:45Speaker 2: people live show.
- 4:47Speaker 3: It's not going to happen, but yeah, unless they're up before,
- 4:52Speaker 3: they haven't gone to bed.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You right, right, Well, do we have any Is there
- 4:56Speaker 1: any news this week?
- 4:57Speaker 4: Oh?
- 4:58Speaker 3: Yeah, we got some news. Let's get to news Star
- 5:01Speaker 3: Trek news all right. So our first Star Trek news
- 5:07Speaker 3: story comes to us from Comic Bookmovie dot Com and uh,
- 5:12Speaker 3: this is kind of fun. So last week we had
- 5:14Speaker 3: an update on the Orville. Now we're getting an update
- 5:17Speaker 3: on Star Trek legacy. And this is coming from seven
- 5:20Speaker 3: to nine herself, Jerry Ryan. She was recently asked about
- 5:26Speaker 3: legacy and she was asked about that by screen rant
- 5:30Speaker 3: and they asked her, Hey, what's up with Legacy? Any updates?
- 5:33Speaker 3: And she says, well, you know, one thing that this
- 5:37Speaker 3: entire Star Trek experience has taught me is that never
- 5:40Speaker 3: say never. Because I wasn't sure I had because I
- 5:44Speaker 3: was sure I had said goodbye to this character walked
- 5:46Speaker 3: away from the franchise many years ago, and I never
- 5:49Speaker 3: in a million, ever year, a million years ever expected
- 5:53Speaker 3: to be playing her back on Picard. So who knows,
- 5:56Speaker 3: never say never and does a quote so, yeah, that's
- 6:04Speaker 3: not really much of an update.
- 6:05Speaker 1: It's just all right, don't do that, don't.
- 6:10Speaker 2: It's like that scene and endgame where where black Widow
- 6:14Speaker 2: find yeah, finds but Hawkeye, and it's like, I think
- 6:17Speaker 2: there's a chance, and Clint's just like, don't, don't.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Don't give me hope, right right. I don't want to.
- 6:23Speaker 2: There's nothing I don't want to cling onto the hope
- 6:26Speaker 2: that there is going to be a legacy, right because
- 6:31Speaker 2: I just want to put it out of my mind.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And then when like somebody official, when Paramount or whoever
- 6:36Speaker 2: the hell owns Paramount six months from now announces it officially,
- 6:40Speaker 2: they've done pre production they're in production, they're filming stuff.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I don't want to hear about it.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, I'm with you on that. I would rather
- 6:48Speaker 3: that if they're gonna do it, just do it. Don't
- 6:51Speaker 3: don't bait me, don't try to force, you know, Internet fervor.
- 6:56Speaker 3: And still nothing happens.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Right right, because like the pulp fiction of Star Trek's
- 7:02Speaker 2: coming out, what next month?
- 7:03Speaker 1: You know, the Tarantino Star Treks.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that that never happened either.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Don't do that to me.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And we still don't have a release date for Strange
- 7:14Speaker 3: New Worlds. Yeah, that's not cool either. I have a
- 7:20Speaker 3: feeling they want to do the whole and it's also
- 7:22Speaker 3: available on Paramount.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Plus right now. Yeah, you know, I hope not.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I hope not. I hope they actually give us a
- 7:31Speaker 3: release date, but whatever. All right, Our next news story
- 7:35Speaker 3: comes to us from trekmovie dot com, and we are
- 7:40Speaker 3: also getting an update from Tawny Newsome aka Mariner on
- 7:46Speaker 3: her Star Trek workplace comedy. So, Tawni was recently walking
- 7:51Speaker 3: the red carpet for Star Trek Red Alert. That is
- 7:53Speaker 3: that universal horror or FanFest that they have going right now. Yes,
- 8:00Speaker 3: so she's walking the red carpet for that. Oh, good morning,
- 8:03Speaker 3: Jeesvis and so yeah, and so they asked her a
- 8:07Speaker 3: little bit about, Hey, what's up with that live action
- 8:10Speaker 3: starts at Comedy You're doing the one that's based on
- 8:12Speaker 3: like on our resort planet. Yeah. So, last time we
- 8:18Speaker 3: got an update on this, she says the the premise
- 8:20Speaker 3: has evolved, and basically that's pretty much the update that
- 8:25Speaker 3: we have here is that it has evolved. She says,
- 8:29Speaker 3: it's very hard not to give spoilers because she's very
- 8:32Speaker 3: excited about it. But they haven't shot anything. They're just
- 8:36Speaker 3: working on scripts and concepts at this point. But it's
- 8:42Speaker 3: moving along. It's it's being developed. We'll see if it
- 8:47Speaker 3: actually happens. She is also a writer on Academy, so
- 8:51Speaker 3: that's nice she's getting some of her work out there.
- 8:55Speaker 3: But as far as when are we going to see
- 8:57Speaker 3: this thing? When is it going to be shot? To
- 9:00Speaker 3: give you an idea how long it could take, they
- 9:04Speaker 3: started working on section thirty one, I believe towards the
- 9:07Speaker 3: end of season one of Discovery, and we just got
- 9:11Speaker 3: that earlier.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Oh wow, okay.
- 9:15Speaker 3: So don't get two excited people about this coming out
- 9:19Speaker 3: anytime soon. This could be a long digesting project. If
- 9:23Speaker 3: it ever comes out, it could be one of those
- 9:26Speaker 3: things that never happens. And you know, like just like
- 9:29Speaker 3: a Star Trek Phase two right where maybe they develop it,
- 9:33Speaker 3: they develop it, it never comes out, but then they
- 9:35Speaker 3: use parts of it later for other stuff. So that
- 9:38Speaker 3: could end up happening here. But this is just where we're.
- 9:41Speaker 1: At with it slow digesting.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So you're saying that this project is has just been
- 9:45Speaker 2: thrown into the Starlac pit. That's right, It's going to
- 9:49Speaker 2: be slowly digested over a thousand years.
- 9:51Speaker 3: That's right, over a thousand years.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yes, got it. Got it.
- 9:54Speaker 3: So that's that's where we're at with that one. And
- 9:57Speaker 3: then our last news story. It's a shame that Dance
- 10:00Speaker 3: not here because you know, I had this update just
- 10:02Speaker 3: for him, but alas, he'll have to watch the script. Oh,
- 10:08Speaker 3: Papa Beds Blue Bloods offshoot add Star Trek actress to
- 10:13Speaker 3: its cast and Captain Burnham sneakle Martin Green has joined
- 10:17Speaker 3: the cast of Boston Blue. So, I don't know if
- 10:20Speaker 3: you watched the Blue Blood.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Show, you know, I just I've been watching a lot
- 10:24Speaker 2: of TikTok shorts of it and I started watching it
- 10:28Speaker 2: a few years ago. But I think this is gonna
- 10:30Speaker 2: be my summertime bin show. Okay, so, and this has
- 10:34Speaker 2: just pushed me over the edge right here, right, I'm
- 10:37Speaker 2: gonna have to binge watch all ninety two seasons of
- 10:39Speaker 2: Blue Bloods and then I can move over to Boston Boston.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Blue Boston Bloods. Yeah yeah, which, yeah, yeah, so yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Apparently this new show will be coming out this fall.
- 10:51Speaker 3: It'll be on CBS, is what I understand. But sneaker
- 10:54Speaker 3: Martin Green basically is sticking with Paramount and CBS, and
- 10:58Speaker 3: she's going to be part of the show. Donnie Wahlberg
- 11:02Speaker 3: will also be on the show. So I really hope
- 11:06Speaker 3: she does a fake Boston accent because I would crack
- 11:09Speaker 3: up at that.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Oh god, you know, that would be wicked smart.
- 11:15Speaker 3: That'd be wicked smart. Yeah yeah, I just got I
- 11:18Speaker 3: want that so bad, but I don't know if we'll
- 11:21Speaker 3: get that. You know, she's a good actress though, so I.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I you know, I I liked her in certain parts
- 11:26Speaker 2: of of Discovery.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And she was good in Walking. Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Yeah, she's good when she's got a good material, just
- 11:34Speaker 3: like you know, anyone else would.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Be right exactly yea yeah. Good actress.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah, a good actress. So hopefully hopefully she gets good
- 11:41Speaker 3: stuff to do there and because I'd be wicked awesome.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, there you go.
- 11:49Speaker 3: And that's uh, that's all the news.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:53Speaker 3: So, oh man, do we have to talk about this movie?
- 11:58Speaker 2: Well, I I've got you know, how we went like
- 12:01Speaker 2: an hour and a half last week. I'm gonna try
- 12:04Speaker 2: to break that record, Okay, So if you want to
- 12:08Speaker 2: go ahead and cue the music, I'll go ahead and
- 12:09Speaker 2: give you my synopsis for Star Trek five.
- 12:12Speaker 3: All right, let's do this fun will now come back?
- 12:20Speaker 3: There you go?
- 12:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:22Speaker 2: So I spent about an hour last week talking about
- 12:25Speaker 2: Star Trek four, the one with the whales.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So it's a good one.
- 12:29Speaker 2: And buckle up everybody, because I'm going to start talking
- 12:31Speaker 2: about my synopsis. You know, get your pop watches ready
- 12:35Speaker 2: and we'll see if I can break the record from
- 12:37Speaker 2: last week. It's everybody ready, Okay, So we're going over
- 12:42Speaker 2: Star Trek five, the William Shatner's Dumpster Fire. Right, So
- 12:48Speaker 2: here's my synopsis. Spock's brother, Sybox Deals, Enterprise, Looking.
- 12:52Speaker 1: For God, the end.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Oh just uh.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Do you want to take take this? Daniel? You want
- 13:04Speaker 1: to start.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Off sure, so real quick before we get into this,
- 13:11Speaker 3: just because I want to show people just how rough
- 13:14Speaker 3: this this thing is. On the Rotten Tomato score, it
- 13:20Speaker 3: has a twenty three percent from critics and a twenty
- 13:24Speaker 3: five percent from fans. Yeah. Yeah, I want to see
- 13:30Speaker 3: if that's comparative to section thirty one, because that seems
- 13:36Speaker 3: to be the new watermark for the low point. I guess. Yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 3: So let's see. So we were at twenty five and
- 13:45Speaker 3: twenty three, right, let's see, okay, sure screen section thirty one.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Ah yeah, Section thirty one is much worse at twenty
- 13:54Speaker 3: and sixteen percent, So.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Okay, So yeah, I guess that's good news for Final Frontier.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Yeah, Frontal Frontiers has moved up a slot. Yep, there
- 14:03Speaker 3: we go. Yeah, uh so here the the plot is
- 14:10Speaker 3: kind of meandering. You know. In the last movie they
- 14:15Speaker 3: are given the Enterprise, they actually fly off with it,
- 14:20Speaker 3: and we're we're led to believe we're off to another adventure.
- 14:24Speaker 3: This movie starts out with they're all on shore leave.
- 14:27Speaker 3: The enterprise is just bile of junk, and uh it
- 14:32Speaker 3: looks like there's problems in space. So there's been a
- 14:37Speaker 3: hostage situation some cult leader. It seems like who walks
- 14:42Speaker 3: around says share your pain with me, and then magically
- 14:45Speaker 3: people love him. Yeah, that's never really explained. Is going
- 14:53Speaker 3: around to a place called Paradise City or is on
- 14:57Speaker 3: his way there, and apparently this is it a planet
- 15:02Speaker 3: that has been co established by the Federation, the Romulans
- 15:06Speaker 3: and the Klingons. And it's supposed to be like this,
- 15:11Speaker 3: if we can all work together here, we can work
- 15:13Speaker 3: together anywhere kind of possibility, I guess, which is an
- 15:18Speaker 3: interesting concept that's never explored.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Yeah, But but this guy, it ends up his name
- 15:29Speaker 3: is Sybock. We find out later he is Spock's half brother,
- 15:34Speaker 3: and he basically believes that he wants to go to
- 15:41Speaker 3: Heaven or Eden or whatever other words they have for it.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Basically God is waiting for him and and he believes
- 15:51Speaker 3: that is a physical location at the center of the
- 15:54Speaker 3: universe and they're gonna just go over there.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, but he needs a ship to get there, yep.
- 15:59Speaker 3: And and so by kidnapping these people, oh yeah, that's
- 16:02Speaker 3: the thing. He kidnaps or takes hostage representatives from the Federation,
- 16:08Speaker 3: the Bromulans, and the Klingons, and he's hoping to bring
- 16:12Speaker 3: a ship to them so he can take it and
- 16:16Speaker 3: then go to the center of the galaxy to go
- 16:18Speaker 3: meet God. That's basically the premise of the film. As
- 16:25Speaker 3: far as when they meet God, what does God need
- 16:29Speaker 3: with the starship? As the famous line says, that's never
- 16:33Speaker 3: really explained as far as I remember.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of that's never explained.
- 16:43Speaker 3: And that's kind of the problem with this movie really, Right,
- 16:48Speaker 3: if you had written this as a book, it's better
- 16:52Speaker 3: because you can get into characters' heads and you can
- 16:54Speaker 3: understand what they're thinking, like when Cybox has share your
- 16:57Speaker 3: pain with Me, then you could in an you can
- 17:00Speaker 3: say what the what the characters are feeling internally, right
- 17:05Speaker 3: because because a book will give you that that insight,
- 17:08Speaker 3: whereas with with movies you can't really do that. You
- 17:14Speaker 3: can cut away to things and give the allegory of
- 17:18Speaker 3: how they feel. You can use voiceover to like internalize monologue,
- 17:24Speaker 3: but all of that is really awkward and cumbersome. So
- 17:28Speaker 3: you can do it, but to pull it off is
- 17:30Speaker 3: really tough.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Well, they did it a little bit in this film
- 17:33Speaker 2: with the with with McCoy and Spock.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they talk a lot about how they.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Feel right, right, So I mean I think that was
- 17:42Speaker 2: the closest they got to being able to sort of
- 17:44Speaker 2: express visually talking about But yeah, everything felt awkward and
- 17:48Speaker 2: weird and okay. And I didn't get like, even how
- 17:52Speaker 2: releasing your pain I understand, like releasing your pain not
- 17:56Speaker 2: feeling the pain anymore might make you feel good. I
- 17:58Speaker 2: didn't understand how it made you like obey sidebox, you
- 18:01Speaker 2: know it wasn't.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I will say that this movie made me just
- 18:09Speaker 3: more or less lose my shit almost immediately. Because so
- 18:14Speaker 3: this movie was released in uh, let's see hold On
- 18:17Speaker 3: in eighty nine, is that correct?
- 18:22Speaker 2: Yeah, eighty nine, and a lot of other things came
- 18:24Speaker 2: out in eighty nine two that it was competing against.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Yeah, OKAYI so yeah, this is what it is. So
- 18:30Speaker 3: this this movie was released in eighty nine and they
- 18:32Speaker 3: and a lot of it takes place in Paradise City.
- 18:35Speaker 3: You never once played the Guns N' Roses song Paradise City,
- 18:39Speaker 3: and and that song came out in eighty seven, so there's.
- 18:43Speaker 1: No expt kids crime.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Have had it. Yeah, right, that's one that that already
- 18:50Speaker 3: upset me. But two, I think the concept of a
- 18:55Speaker 3: planet where all three governments are forced to work together.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Is actually really interest it is? It could be they've.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Lost over it in the movie. Yeah, really, just you
- 19:06Speaker 2: just saw the three people. It was like three ambassadors
- 19:09Speaker 2: kind of like washed out has been ambassadors that didn't
- 19:13Speaker 2: it didn't make any sense what they were doing or
- 19:16Speaker 2: why they were there.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:19Speaker 2: So Goal Madrid, the guy they played Goal Madrid was
- 19:24Speaker 2: the Federation Ambassador. That's right, guy they played kim Pak Chancellor.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Kim Pek, the first chanceller we see in the Next
- 19:32Speaker 2: Generation was the Klingon Ambassador. And I didn't recognize the
- 19:36Speaker 2: Romulin female ambassador.
- 19:38Speaker 3: The the Federation ambassador. It was driving me nuts because
- 19:41Speaker 3: I recognized his voice and I couldn't remember where. Decided
- 19:45Speaker 3: to look it up and yeah, do you know what
- 19:49Speaker 3: other big role he voiced.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I mean, he's voiced a ton but oh he's voiced
- 19:54Speaker 2: a ton I remember from Titanic U.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he was a Klingon. He was the Klingon Chancellor
- 20:04Speaker 1: in the next movie.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Oh that's true. Yeah, yeah, but he was also the
- 20:10Speaker 3: voice of ros Al ghoul On Batman the animated series.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Oh that's right.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Detective Yeah that's right.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 20:21Speaker 2: So yeah, that's he was also the scientist in Teenage
- 20:26Speaker 2: Mutant Ninja Turtles to the that's.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Right, yeah, m hmm, that's yeah, that's right. Yeah, you
- 20:35Speaker 3: know what that deserves. That absolutely deserve warning.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Warning, NERD alert, nerd alert.
- 20:44Speaker 3: I mean we both kind of deserve it.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely absolutely so all right.
- 20:53Speaker 3: So yeah, so they go to Paradise City. They the
- 20:56Speaker 3: girls are not pretty, the grass is not green, it's
- 20:59Speaker 3: just dirt. They very were clearly influenced by Mad Max.
- 21:03Speaker 3: That's very much yeah, yeah, yeah, very much so. And
- 21:08Speaker 3: they're going to rescue the hostages with with the fan
- 21:14Speaker 3: dance and horses.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Somehow somebody I read somebody jokingly somebody on the production
- 21:21Speaker 2: jokingly said I want Ohora to do a like a
- 21:24Speaker 2: strip tease in this movie, and somebody kind of like
- 21:28Speaker 2: heard it or got an idea from that. Oh wow,
- 21:33Speaker 2: say you know somebody saying that it was like, oh
- 21:34Speaker 2: you know what we actually could do, oh doing a
- 21:37Speaker 2: strip dance?
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I don't know which. I love the idea of, like, yeah,
- 21:44Speaker 3: I love the idea that they're like they're beaming down
- 21:47Speaker 3: or no, they're taking a shuttle craft down to it
- 21:49Speaker 3: right to to go rescue the hostages and who is like, Okay,
- 21:54Speaker 3: we got this top secret mission. We gotta go save
- 21:57Speaker 3: these people. Let me bring my feathers.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, you know, because.
- 22:04Speaker 3: There's no way she would have known. At some point
- 22:06Speaker 3: we're gonna have to distract these people so we can
- 22:08Speaker 3: take some horses. She just happened to have her feathers
- 22:11Speaker 3: with her.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Well, maybe feathers. Maybe those feathers are standard shuttle issue,
- 22:15Speaker 1: you know.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Break glass in case if you need emergency feathers.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Exactly, exactly, Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I guess, I guess. Yeah. So so they get the feathers,
- 22:27Speaker 3: they get some horses, they break into the town. That's
- 22:30Speaker 3: when they meet Sybok. Uh. Spock is not forthcoming as
- 22:34Speaker 3: to who Sybok is, just that they kind of know
- 22:36Speaker 3: each other. And and and Sybok talks about his plan
- 22:43Speaker 3: to go to the center of the universe. He doesn't
- 22:45Speaker 3: really say that he's specifically going to meet God, just
- 22:47Speaker 3: that he's gonna go to like Heaven basically or Eden
- 22:50Speaker 3: as he calls.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Everyone else seems to be just high on his supply
- 22:57Speaker 3: and just down for whatever he's saying. It's it's very odd.
- 23:01Speaker 3: It's like a cult leader. And uh yeah, yeah. Through
- 23:07Speaker 3: through Shenangians. He gets a hold of the enterprise and
- 23:10Speaker 3: off they go, right yep, yeah, like is so badly
- 23:16Speaker 3: strung together. Uh. Then they just kind of get there
- 23:20Speaker 3: more or less.
- 23:23Speaker 2: They have to go through the barrier what they call
- 23:25Speaker 2: the Great Barrier, which is actually it was established in
- 23:28Speaker 2: another where no man has gone before that. The Great
- 23:31Speaker 2: Barrier is actually the perimeter of the Milky Way galaxy,
- 23:35Speaker 2: not the center of the Milky Way gallery right right.
- 23:38Speaker 2: But they talked, uh not in I don't know if
- 23:43Speaker 2: our replicators have been invented yet.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think so, as.
- 23:47Speaker 2: The Ray says, don't they have replicators in the shuttle,
- 23:49Speaker 2: I don't know if if I don't think they've been
- 23:51Speaker 2: invented yet, I think it's kind of a new invention.
- 23:55Speaker 1: In the in the next generation area.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they could they could have some sort
- 24:00Speaker 2: of matter synthesizers, or maybe maybe there's birds on the
- 24:04Speaker 2: planet and and she just picked up She's like, oh,
- 24:07Speaker 2: there's some bird feathers, and uh, there's a you know,
- 24:10Speaker 2: a feather boa can grab or whatever.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Maybe maybe she's just ped them up.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Maybe she just picked them up from the hilltop, like
- 24:16Speaker 2: you know, there's large condor looking birds that are around
- 24:19Speaker 2: or hawk looking for things.
- 24:20Speaker 3: And they just got who landed on planet fashion?
- 24:25Speaker 1: Yeah so I mean I guess, I.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Guess Yeah, so yeah so they Yeah, they get through
- 24:35Speaker 3: the Great Barrier wherever that is, either internal or external.
- 24:39Speaker 1: With no drama whatsoever.
- 24:40Speaker 3: With no drama. They just kind of go through it,
- 24:42Speaker 3: no problem, It's fine and uh and right there waiting
- 24:46Speaker 3: for them is God more or less there he is.
- 24:51Speaker 3: There he is, and he's got lightning eyes, and he
- 24:57Speaker 3: at first seems kind of nice. And then with the
- 24:59Speaker 3: minute that that Kirk is like, so what does God
- 25:02Speaker 3: need with the starship? Then God gets really angry and
- 25:06Speaker 3: it's like electrocuting people.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 2: That actor was played by the same actor that was
- 25:13Speaker 2: Admiral Hanson from Best of Both Worlds.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Okay, cool, he was, he was.
- 25:19Speaker 1: One of his ship was one of the ships that
- 25:21Speaker 1: was destroyed.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Yeah. They they get into it with Syebok too, a
- 25:27Speaker 3: little bit about like what what are you doing? Why
- 25:30Speaker 3: are you doing this? That's not God? Why would God
- 25:33Speaker 3: need a starship?
- 25:34Speaker 1: What?
- 25:35Speaker 3: Why would God do this to people? And then somehow
- 25:40Speaker 3: like because because God is just a giant floating head
- 25:44Speaker 3: much like zord on in in power raisers.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yeah, And and so Sybok like breaks through the barrier
- 25:54Speaker 3: that God is in like his his tank, I guess,
- 25:58Speaker 3: and he's like, sure your pain with me, and and
- 26:02Speaker 3: and I guess they're dead. I don't I don't know
- 26:04Speaker 3: what happened, right.
- 26:05Speaker 1: It reminded me of the Wizard of oz.
- 26:07Speaker 2: It reminded me of the of the Wizard, like the
- 26:09Speaker 2: giant floating holographic Wizard of oz at.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I mean it did.
- 26:15Speaker 2: That scene did lead to one of my favorite lines
- 26:18Speaker 2: of Star Trek where uh, they're talking, you know, God,
- 26:22Speaker 2: the so called God is talking to Spock's brother Syback
- 26:27Speaker 2: about you know, starship and we can take let me
- 26:29Speaker 2: take the starship and I'll use it to you know,
- 26:32Speaker 2: and Kirk is just like, excuse me, excuse me, what
- 26:37Speaker 2: does God need with a starship? Yeah, Like, is the
- 26:41Speaker 2: only one there's there's two vulcans there, and he's the
- 26:44Speaker 2: only one that's being logical.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Right right right?
- 26:49Speaker 1: I really like that.
- 26:50Speaker 3: And then they they just kind of take off and
- 26:52Speaker 3: it's over, like it's.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Yeah, sidebock meld mind meld joins with it kind of
- 27:00Speaker 2: felt like it felt very Star Trek.
- 27:02Speaker 1: One to me. Yeah, when what's his face joined with Vger.
- 27:08Speaker 2: It felt like it was taking I don't know, it
- 27:13Speaker 2: just felt like they were just rehashing storylines from other
- 27:16Speaker 2: movies or other TV shows or not even Star Trek.
- 27:19Speaker 2: It just didn't feel very original to me.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. I just didn't. I didn't
- 27:24Speaker 1: like it all that much.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't either. It's just it's it's like a
- 27:30Speaker 3: first draft, like they had concepts. They put it down,
- 27:34Speaker 3: but it wasn't flushed out.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Is the problem.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a ton of knits in this from like
- 27:43Speaker 2: I was just watching the movie. I noticed the one
- 27:45Speaker 2: knit I noticed without having to look at IMDb. They're
- 27:48Speaker 2: going up the turbolift shaft. And this was when Spock like,
- 27:54Speaker 2: uh with the jet boots right, and I'm looking at
- 27:58Speaker 2: the number of the decks in the turble of Chef
- 28:01Speaker 2: seventy eight, which is almost twice as many as the
- 28:04Speaker 2: Enterprise d like they they way overestimated.
- 28:08Speaker 1: The oh yeah yeahah constitution class as. But that was
- 28:13Speaker 1: a good scene.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I I enjoyed that that scene where they were were
- 28:17Speaker 2: McCoy and Kirk have to get on on spots boots
- 28:20Speaker 2: and they slowly go down because it's too much weight.
- 28:23Speaker 2: And then they're like hit the thrust the thrusters, and
- 28:26Speaker 2: then they hit the threats and they get shot up
- 28:28Speaker 2: to almost the top of the ship.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Yeah. That which was funny because like Spock didn't do
- 28:36Speaker 3: the calculations in his head, but the last movie, like
- 28:39Speaker 3: he did calculations for time travel and give.
- 28:41Speaker 1: You Yeah, but he missed it by a whole deck.
- 28:45Speaker 1: It was weird.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like there was.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Another funny scene.
- 28:49Speaker 2: It's it's what it's a kind of an iconic scene
- 28:51Speaker 2: when Scottie breaks them out of the unbreakable jail cell. Yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 2: and he's like that's amazing. He's like, there's nothing amazing
- 29:00Speaker 2: out it. I know the ship like the back of
- 29:01Speaker 2: my hand, doink and he hits the bullhead and knocks
- 29:04Speaker 2: your help out that. I mean, whether you like it
- 29:07Speaker 2: or hate it, it's a funny moment, it's a.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Funny moment for sure. For sure.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Yeah, there's one other thing that I noticed that I
- 29:17Speaker 2: wanted to bring up.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I didn't. I didn't even see it in IMDb and anything.
- 29:24Speaker 2: A lot of people make a big deal about Tuvac
- 29:27Speaker 2: being one being a black Vulcan and being one of
- 29:31Speaker 2: the only black falcons, because black falcons just are not
- 29:34Speaker 2: something that's shown in Star Trek. They're just shown as
- 29:36Speaker 2: usually Caucasians. You know, they're just Caucasians, which right right
- 29:44Speaker 2: during the let Me See Your Pain scene that Ciba
- 29:50Speaker 2: has with Ock where they show Spock's birth, yeah, the
- 29:54Speaker 2: mid white or the nurse in that scene is a
- 29:58Speaker 2: black Vulcan female. There you go, And I would venture
- 30:05Speaker 2: to guess that that's the first time that a black
- 30:08Speaker 2: Vulcan was shown in a close up. Yeah, they might
- 30:11Speaker 2: have been a background character before. I'm almost certain they
- 30:14Speaker 2: weren't shown as African American in the original series or
- 30:18Speaker 2: any of the movies leading up to this.
- 30:20Speaker 3: No, I don't think. No, yeah, I haven't seen them
- 30:23Speaker 3: in any of the movies.
- 30:24Speaker 1: So right, yeah, right, so yeah, yep.
- 30:28Speaker 3: No, that's a good pool. That is a very good pool.
- 30:32Speaker 1: That's all I got for this movie.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well, okay, So, like I did with the
- 30:37Speaker 3: last one that was terrible, I started thinking about what
- 30:40Speaker 3: I would do different.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Oh yes, oh yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 3: I don't know if I if I've got a great answer,
- 30:46Speaker 3: but I have an answer. I think that just the
- 30:50Speaker 3: concept of that Paradise planet is just so much more interesting,
- 30:55Speaker 3: and I think you could do so much more with it.
- 30:58Speaker 3: So my my thought was, you do the movie takes
- 31:03Speaker 3: place there where you still do everything with cyback, and
- 31:08Speaker 3: and he's trying to capture these people, and and and
- 31:13Speaker 3: he takes some hostage, but the whole movie is a
- 31:16Speaker 3: hostage situation, right, And and then you have representatives from
- 31:21Speaker 3: all the other governments there. Right, so you have you
- 31:23Speaker 3: have a kling On ship, you have a Romulan ship,
- 31:25Speaker 3: you have the Enterprise and and so now to save
- 31:29Speaker 3: their people, these three groups need to work together. They
- 31:34Speaker 3: need to be like a like a mission impossible kind
- 31:36Speaker 3: of situation and break in and get it. Meanwhile, there's
- 31:39Speaker 3: this crazy cult leader talking about how he wants to
- 31:41Speaker 3: go meet God, and everyone's like, who the hell is
- 31:44Speaker 3: this guy?
- 31:45Speaker 1: Right?
- 31:47Speaker 3: And then Spot can then say, I know that guy.
- 31:49Speaker 3: He's my cousin, not he's my brother.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Right, right, that would make sense.
- 31:55Speaker 2: You wouldn't have to explain away the history of Sarah, right,
- 31:58Speaker 2: He's just he's.
- 31:59Speaker 3: A distant cousin.
- 32:01Speaker 1: You know.
- 32:02Speaker 3: He he had been banished long ago from Vulcan society.
- 32:06Speaker 3: He's always been a zealot and now now he's overdone.
- 32:10Speaker 1: It that would make so much.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Yeah, you could even do Sybock talking about like just
- 32:16Speaker 3: like Babylon or the Tower of Babyl was an affront
- 32:20Speaker 3: to God, this planet is an affront and that's why
- 32:24Speaker 3: it must be destroyed. This union cannot work. While you
- 32:28Speaker 3: could do all that that sort of religious imagery with it,
- 32:32Speaker 3: right and you you do not need God in there.
- 32:36Speaker 3: The way you would eventually turn it is that all
- 32:42Speaker 3: the different like like the Klingons are like, well, we
- 32:44Speaker 3: understand God to be this, the Romans and we understand
- 32:47Speaker 3: God to be that, the federations like people understood God
- 32:49Speaker 3: to be this way. And so the idea being that
- 32:52Speaker 3: everybody has their own concepts of God, we don't need
- 32:56Speaker 3: to meet him. And and Cybok is just a representative
- 32:59Speaker 3: of of just way over understanding or or misinterpreting God
- 33:07Speaker 3: and and taking it badly kind of like a like
- 33:10Speaker 3: a like a fundamentalism right right as as opposed to
- 33:16Speaker 3: you know, where we've gone to now in the future
- 33:18Speaker 3: where we can all work together and and and that's
- 33:20Speaker 3: not you know, people aren't, aren't you know, there's no
- 33:26Speaker 3: I'm trying what is like inquisitions for for your bad
- 33:28Speaker 3: faith or stuff. Like that where Cybok is the representative
- 33:33Speaker 3: of somebody who's fundamentalist and purity tests and and all
- 33:39Speaker 3: these kinds of things. It needs it's more of a
- 33:43Speaker 3: people story. Yeah, it needs to.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Be Star Trek fans, like that's the kind of story
- 33:48Speaker 2: that Star Trek likes to tell.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's an allegory, right yeah. Yeah, So
- 33:56Speaker 3: so you could even do the thing where like it's
- 33:59Speaker 3: not that face is bad, it's that you need to
- 34:02Speaker 3: just like anything else, it needs to be within moderation,
- 34:05Speaker 3: and it needs to be for the benefit of people,
- 34:09Speaker 3: not for the subjugation of people. Right, and then you
- 34:17Speaker 3: that's the overall theme. You can even do where Kirk
- 34:21Speaker 3: and Skybok is about you know, it's their big final fight,
- 34:25Speaker 3: and and Kirk basically shoots him with the line is
- 34:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna let you go meet God. You know you
- 34:33Speaker 3: can talk to him yourself about it.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Bang?
- 34:35Speaker 3: Right, yeah, you know you just do that right right?
- 34:43Speaker 3: And then and then instead of singing row row your boat,
- 34:48Speaker 3: you ended with them seeking Hallelujah.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Yeah that was cringey.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Right, But where whereas if it ends with like Spock
- 35:02Speaker 3: is like, you know, I was reading the religious texts
- 35:04Speaker 3: of of of Humans, and I came across the song
- 35:08Speaker 3: and then spot you know, Kirk's like, I haven't sang
- 35:10Speaker 3: this since I was a boy, and yeah sing that?
- 35:12Speaker 1: Yeah, oh that would have been beautiful.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Yeah yeah.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Now let me ask you this. Would you still have
- 35:20Speaker 2: had the marsh Mellon making machine?
- 35:24Speaker 1: Oh?
- 35:24Speaker 3: Absolutely absolutely, you could even now that I'm saying all
- 35:28Speaker 3: this out loud, you could even end it where they
- 35:30Speaker 3: sing Hallelujah and and Spock says something to the effect of, yes,
- 35:34Speaker 3: he was misunderstood, but he was my cousin and and
- 35:38Speaker 3: singing this song helps me connect to the good parts
- 35:41Speaker 3: of him, the memory.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, something like that.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, you're not just shitting on religion, but
- 35:49Speaker 3: you're you know.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Right right?
- 35:52Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 35:54Speaker 1: I like it. I like it.
- 35:57Speaker 3: It's different.
- 35:58Speaker 2: They're going to remake all these movies I don't know,
- 36:01Speaker 2: and Monday, I hope to see your name in the
- 36:03Speaker 2: writing credits.
- 36:05Speaker 3: Now I need to I need to work on air
- 36:07Speaker 3: Bud of my gritty reboot of air Buds.
- 36:12Speaker 2: No, you need to remake Sideways for me.
- 36:14Speaker 3: No, I'm not doing that.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I don't drink Sideways will be left alone, but or
- 36:21Speaker 2: Batman Forever ah, yeah, I would remake Batman forever.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll call it Batman most of the time.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Most of the Batman most of the time.
- 36:35Speaker 1: I really like it.
- 36:38Speaker 3: You know.
- 36:39Speaker 1: That reminds me.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I'll have to find it sometime and and find a
- 36:42Speaker 2: way to post it. My uh, my good friend, uh
- 36:46Speaker 2: Steven Uh, he's uh, he's an English major.
- 36:50Speaker 1: He teaches English. Uh.
- 36:52Speaker 2: He wrote me a like a sort of a script,
- 36:56Speaker 2: sort of in play form where and this was twenty
- 37:00Speaker 2: five years ago where he.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Started asking me.
- 37:06Speaker 2: He's like, hey, tell me about this character in Star Trek.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Tell me about that character in Star Trek. And I
- 37:10Speaker 2: told him a little bit about you know, he's like,
- 37:12Speaker 2: tell me about data. What is he because he doesn't
- 37:13Speaker 2: know anything about Star Trek. So I told him a
- 37:15Speaker 2: little bit. He wrote me up basically a play that
- 37:18Speaker 2: starred me as Scott lut Picard and my friend Steve
- 37:26Speaker 2: was actually Steve the Android, and my you know, my
- 37:30Speaker 2: just a bunch of my friends that had names that
- 37:32Speaker 2: he sort of like an amalgamation of different names and
- 37:35Speaker 2: different people.
- 37:36Speaker 1: There was a Desi, Rae Troy and it was just
- 37:40Speaker 1: a real.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Funny satire take my friends mashed up with the next generation.
- 37:46Speaker 2: I'm going to try to find that it's it's it's
- 37:48Speaker 2: in a box somewhere and I'll try to post it.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, it was. It was. It was funny.
- 37:55Speaker 2: We were on the USS Marin because at the time
- 37:57Speaker 2: I had just bought a Marin brand mountain bike. And
- 38:04Speaker 2: the main antagonists where I worked at a place called Meyer.
- 38:08Speaker 2: It's a grocery store in the Midwest, and so he
- 38:11Speaker 2: created these evil beings called Mayorgs, and they were these
- 38:16Speaker 2: man machine type borg type type people. Right, So I'll
- 38:24Speaker 2: see if I could find that posted on Facebook.
- 38:28Speaker 3: That's awesome. I just looked it up. The budget for
- 38:33Speaker 3: this film was thirty three million. The box office was
- 38:36Speaker 3: sixty three million. Apparently they had anticipated for it to
- 38:40Speaker 3: be a much bigger, much bigger movie than what it was,
- 38:46Speaker 3: which is kind of sad that it was not, but that's.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Part of the problem.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Like most of the knits that I saw on IMDb
- 38:53Speaker 2: was wires could be seen here and wires could be
- 38:56Speaker 2: seen there, and you could tell there was no like
- 38:58Speaker 2: their post rush.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Fuck. Yeah, it was so rushed.
- 39:02Speaker 2: You could see reflections and camera people and boom mics
- 39:05Speaker 2: and wires and yeah.
- 39:07Speaker 3: See the other thing too, is this came out in
- 39:09Speaker 3: eighty nine, and this was up against some really stiff competition.
- 39:13Speaker 3: It was up against Yeah Jones on the Last Crusade,
- 39:16Speaker 3: Ghostbusters two, Batman, so yeah, yeah.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I mean that was probably the biggest movie of the year.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was so so yeah, it just
- 39:29Speaker 3: plus it's the fifth movie. People tend to have what
- 39:32Speaker 3: they call franchise fatigue after a while, so yeah, it
- 39:36Speaker 3: makes sense.
- 39:38Speaker 1: The only franchise that doesn't suffer from that is Fast
- 39:40Speaker 1: and Furious.
- 39:41Speaker 3: That's right. Everybody loves those movies. That's right, everybody loves this.
- 39:45Speaker 1: It's all about family.
- 39:47Speaker 3: Well, should we get you a listener feedback?
- 39:50Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 39:51Speaker 4: Okay, listener feedback.
- 39:58Speaker 1: I've got a got an email.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Oh cool, Yeah, I've got some from our Facebook group,
- 40:05Speaker 3: just real quick. Phil said he's got a soft spot
- 40:10Speaker 3: in his heart for this movie. His dad took him
- 40:12Speaker 3: to the movies to see it, and he later got
- 40:16Speaker 3: a pirated copy and watched it over and over again.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Nice is still terrible?
- 40:21Speaker 1: Nice?
- 40:22Speaker 3: Yeah? And then Duval says, because they posted that we
- 40:26Speaker 3: were going to talk about this specific movie, and he
- 40:28Speaker 3: gets Dan will be on the next week, gotcha, Yeah.
- 40:32Speaker 1: I saw that that's funny.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we got Jazz was on the line too.
- 40:37Speaker 3: We'll wait for him, but yeah, share the email real
- 40:40Speaker 3: quick and then and then we'll get yeh.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Sure sure this one is. This one's also from Daval.
- 40:45Speaker 2: He says, Greetings, Daniel and Scott. It's it's to all
- 40:49Speaker 2: your friendly trek Ast freelance New York correspondent. I wanted
- 40:52Speaker 2: to share you an additional supplemental video to turk Cast
- 40:55Speaker 2: episode two forty eight, which was last week, the one
- 40:58Speaker 2: with whales. Apologies with the technical difficulties on the stream.
- 41:01Speaker 2: So link below is his quick reaction video for the
- 41:05Speaker 2: for us to share on the trek Cast official channels.
- 41:07Speaker 2: We did share that he shared that on Facebook, so
- 41:10Speaker 2: there's a link on the Facebook page where you can see.
- 41:15Speaker 1: See all the stuff. Uh, he's also gonna yeah, he
- 41:17Speaker 1: said he had posted it.
- 41:18Speaker 2: So he's got some interesting amusings about the voyage home.
- 41:23Speaker 2: And he also wanted to know he will not be
- 41:25Speaker 2: covering uh Star Trek Long Trek Long Island three this year,
- 41:29Speaker 2: kind of taking a break from the con so maybe
- 41:31Speaker 2: next year. And uh, he just wanted to say, uh,
- 41:37Speaker 2: so I take it. We will see Dan on the
- 41:38Speaker 2: following week for yeah, for Star Trek six the Undiscovery Countries.
- 41:42Speaker 1: As he's he totally does the even movies.
- 41:46Speaker 2: So he says thank you for for having him on
- 41:48Speaker 2: and see you guys on the next one from So.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Thank you devall. Thanks for that video.
- 41:53Speaker 2: That was I really liked your video that you that
- 41:55Speaker 2: you posted. That was good, some good insights. That was
- 41:58Speaker 2: really funny. So thank you very much for for doing that.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you so much. And then uh we got
- 42:05Speaker 3: Chaz Biz, so let's bring him in there is there's hey, hello,
- 42:12Speaker 3: oh man, two hats and no hat? I don't know
- 42:13Speaker 3: what's your hats?
- 42:14Speaker 4: And yeah you gotta go in the middle now.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Yeah. I usually don't wear at all my hair.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I just got done from working out, so I'm actually
- 42:23Speaker 2: wearing my workout shirt.
- 42:24Speaker 1: This is a workout shirt.
- 42:26Speaker 3: Yeah. The gym is over that way, b Yeah the gyms. Yeah, yeah, for.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Sure, let's climb up.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I got my I got my Rito shirt on because
- 42:38Speaker 2: on the critos they wear they wear these uh pet shirts.
- 42:43Speaker 3: That's right shirt.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Yeah, when I'm working out, so I didn't have time
- 42:48Speaker 2: to like do.
- 42:49Speaker 3: My hair, that's true, that's true. Hair and makeup will
- 42:54Speaker 3: be there soon. Enough.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know why. I just thought of this.
- 42:58Speaker 2: We saw a we saw an alien in the Bark
- 43:03Speaker 2: that was a cross between the three breasted alien from
- 43:09Speaker 2: what's that movie? Total Recall? And what what? What's the
- 43:15Speaker 2: female doctor from the Soritos?
- 43:18Speaker 1: What's her name? What? What? What's that? Is that? A Katarian?
- 43:22Speaker 3: I think? So, I don't know, I'm bad with it.
- 43:26Speaker 4: On the one scene where she's like dancing.
- 43:29Speaker 1: She's dancing, then she yeah, and then Kirk throws her
- 43:34Speaker 1: into the the pool.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Table and I say that with quotes because it was
- 43:38Speaker 2: a water based Billiard's game, and she so the cat,
- 43:43Speaker 2: it's a cat like person, which you can see a
- 43:45Speaker 2: wire operating the tail by the way, and it's like,
- 43:49Speaker 2: it looks like a katarian, but she's got three.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Three, she's got three of them, and it made it
- 43:58Speaker 1: reminded me of the show.
- 43:59Speaker 4: But about it reminded me of.
- 44:05Speaker 2: It reminded me of a conversation that that Mayweather and
- 44:12Speaker 2: Tucker had on Enterprise where they were talking about different
- 44:16Speaker 2: places that Mayweather had been to and and he's like,
- 44:19Speaker 2: so I hear that the women on that planet have
- 44:21Speaker 2: and he's like, yep, three wow, So.
- 44:26Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 44:27Speaker 4: It's got double d's.
- 44:29Speaker 3: So that's true.
- 44:30Speaker 1: That's true.
- 44:31Speaker 2: And according yeah, and according to Lord, yeah, lower decks
- 44:35Speaker 2: they have boob windows.
- 44:36Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, that's right, so these windows were double hunt.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:43Speaker 3: What'd you think of the movie jazz Biz?
- 44:46Speaker 4: I probably saw this one the most as a kid,
- 44:48Speaker 4: because for some reason on HBO it was okay, like
- 44:53Speaker 4: the rights probably came out, probably came out in eighty nine,
- 44:56Speaker 4: so it probably came on HBO around ninety and it
- 44:59Speaker 4: was just recycled all summer. So I watched this one
- 45:05Speaker 4: the most. Had no idea what the hell was going on?
- 45:08Speaker 3: But yeah, but I like, as a kid, did you think,
- 45:12Speaker 3: oh I just don't understand this or did you think.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I just don't get it? And I was like
- 45:16Speaker 4: god like.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Always thinking, oh look, triple boob cat lady.
- 45:22Speaker 4: There's a cat lady. There's all this, and then oh
- 45:25Speaker 4: her is dancing with that makes no sense? You know,
- 45:32Speaker 4: it starts off, you know, the movie actually starts off
- 45:34Speaker 4: kind of cool because they're kind of chilled, they're relaxing,
- 45:37Speaker 4: they're on a you know, a trip together. Do you
- 45:42Speaker 4: like screaming because he's climbing that rock and he's gonna die.
- 45:46Speaker 4: You know.
- 45:48Speaker 2: I'm just say for the record that I think the
- 45:50Speaker 2: people that rock climb are insane.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah have a death.
- 45:56Speaker 1: I just want that on the record.
- 45:58Speaker 4: So the people that climb a rock with any rigging, yeah,
- 46:01Speaker 4: they have a deathway. Yeah.
- 46:02Speaker 3: So I'm reading about the original home release, which was
- 46:06Speaker 3: December twenty one, nineteen eighty nine. Okay, and this is
- 46:10Speaker 3: gonna make you feel old. This is how it was
- 46:13Speaker 3: released originally. It was released on VHS, Laser disc and
- 46:18Speaker 3: Beta MAXO Laser Max.
- 46:22Speaker 4: I had a friend with a Beta Max and I
- 46:24Speaker 4: was so confused what it was back then.
- 46:27Speaker 2: I didn't even bother with the special features. There was
- 46:29Speaker 2: nothing extra I wanted to know about this movie.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I didn't remember he was supposed to fight
- 46:35Speaker 4: that rock monster and then that got taken out.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Right, and they probably put it in Galaxy Quest.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, go for.
- 46:43Speaker 1: His fotable spots. It's a rock it doesn't have any
- 46:45Speaker 1: vulnerable spots. Yeah right.
- 46:48Speaker 4: I would have loved to seeing the guy in the
- 46:49Speaker 4: rock monster costume fighting Kirk.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:52Speaker 2: I didn't watch any of the special features because I
- 46:54Speaker 2: would like to know in case anybody has the the
- 46:57Speaker 2: re released blu ray of uh Starck four. I didn't
- 47:02Speaker 2: notice this until it was too late to watch it
- 47:04Speaker 2: before the show last week, but there are there is
- 47:06Speaker 2: director commentary from there's two director commentaries on that blu
- 47:13Speaker 2: ray and one of them is from Alex Kurtzman. And
- 47:21Speaker 2: who is the other guy that co produced Star Trek. Yes, yes,
- 47:26Speaker 2: there's the late Robert Orsi. So there's there's a DVD
- 47:31Speaker 2: commentary from them about Star Trek four and I haven't
- 47:34Speaker 2: watched yet, but I'm going to. And then there's also
- 47:37Speaker 2: another DVD commentary I think like with William Shatner and
- 47:41Speaker 2: Harve Bennett and Leonardie Mooy. So if you have the
- 47:43Speaker 2: blue ray copy, check it out.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that sounds awesome.
- 47:47Speaker 4: H this you know this movie was it was you
- 47:52Speaker 4: know for a kid.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 47:54Speaker 4: Now the movie score was great because it's Jerry Goldsmith again.
- 47:57Speaker 1: It brought him back. Yes, he is my favorite there.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Yeah, because like I hear it and I was like,
- 48:03Speaker 4: oh man, because Horner is great. I really liked Horner's
- 48:05Speaker 4: music on Ratha Con and Star Trek three, but this one,
- 48:10Speaker 4: like you could hear that, you know, because you have
- 48:12Speaker 4: the next generation theme going, you have even though it's
- 48:16Speaker 4: really their theme because that's the motion picture theme, right,
- 48:21Speaker 4: And I don't know. And I'm happy that they made
- 48:27Speaker 4: the next movie because I was the best send off ever.
- 48:30Speaker 4: Absolutely absolutely, this would have been like just like, oh that's.
- 48:37Speaker 1: A yeah, Undiscovered Code. I can't wait to review The
- 48:40Speaker 1: Undiscovered Country.
- 48:42Speaker 4: I know you guys said you're gonna do it at
- 48:44Speaker 4: eight a m. Next week, which is insane.
- 48:48Speaker 1: I know a week.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's because the week after we can't do a show.
- 48:54Speaker 2: So oh you can't, right, Well, it's Memorial of the
- 48:57Speaker 2: weekend and next week I have I have some obligations
- 49:00Speaker 2: with the Patriot gard Riders and and some other things.
- 49:03Speaker 1: So I wanted to go.
- 49:05Speaker 2: So it was either no show and I didn't want to.
- 49:07Speaker 2: We didn't want to do a no show because we're
- 49:09Speaker 2: doing The Undiscovered Country.
- 49:11Speaker 3: It would be no show for two weeks. That sucks.
- 49:13Speaker 1: It'd be no show for two weeks. Yeah, okay, that
- 49:16Speaker 1: makes sense.
- 49:16Speaker 4: That's why it's early next week.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why it's so really next week.
- 49:19Speaker 1: And you don't have to be I mean, you know, now.
- 49:21Speaker 4: If you talk really long, I'm not come in at
- 49:24Speaker 4: eight fifty.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Yeah, we'd just be wrapping it up.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Probably just Dan know we're doing an hour early. I
- 49:34Speaker 1: mean he's a Greek chat so he might know.
- 49:38Speaker 4: Yees, come in early.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll see, we'll see.
- 49:42Speaker 2: You just have to be warm sho an hour early,
- 49:44Speaker 2: that's right. Yeah, yeah, well do the pre flaight right now.
- 49:48Speaker 4: It's probably not too bad outside.
- 49:50Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know his weather, but yeah,
- 49:52Speaker 3: here it's not so bad.
- 49:53Speaker 2: But I would We went on a motorcycle ride yesterday,
- 49:57Speaker 2: so we went to the lake shore. Would visited uh
- 50:01Speaker 2: some my cousin and also my wife's cousin. Two supper campground,
- 50:05Speaker 2: two separate camp sites in the same campground, one of
- 50:07Speaker 2: my favorite campgrounds over by the lake shore, which is
- 50:10Speaker 2: Lake Michigan.
- 50:11Speaker 1: And we're out. So it was our first motorcycle ride,
- 50:16Speaker 1: uh for for Des and I. So oh that's cool,
- 50:18Speaker 1: little little chili.
- 50:19Speaker 2: But still comfortable with the right right attire attire So
- 50:23Speaker 2: oh good god.
- 50:24Speaker 4: Do you have your truck cast patch on your jacket yet?
- 50:28Speaker 1: I do? I do have my truck cast Yeah. As
- 50:32Speaker 1: a matter of fact, there you go right now.
- 50:36Speaker 3: Yeah, he's gonna he's gonna go off and get it.
- 50:39Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh nice, nice.
- 50:47Speaker 1: So right on.
- 50:52Speaker 2: You know, speaking of treck cast patches, that was the
- 50:54Speaker 2: old merch store.
- 50:56Speaker 3: That's right.
- 50:57Speaker 1: New merch store doesn't have the patches.
- 50:58Speaker 2: But my wife has a quest for the merchandise store
- 51:03Speaker 2: bumper stickers.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that'd be cool. Yeah, we'll ask.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay, yeah, because yeah, you'll definitely get a
- 51:13Speaker 2: couple from her.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Well, just stickers would be good too.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Or stickers. Yeah.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Yeah, she had that track cast, that little tiny one
- 51:22Speaker 2: that she got from when we first met you guys.
- 51:24Speaker 3: That's right.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Yeah, she had that on her on her bumper for
- 51:28Speaker 2: for a long time and then it faded off.
- 51:30Speaker 1: So yeah, more trek cast stickers.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Okay, that's cool. Yeah, I have to I have to
- 51:37Speaker 3: ask about that because yeah, chop Teas mainly handles the
- 51:41Speaker 3: shop now. Yeah, it's up and running if you guys
- 51:44Speaker 3: are wanting that. What what?
- 51:48Speaker 1: Oh?
- 51:48Speaker 3: The big thing about chop Teas is free shipping in
- 51:51Speaker 3: most countries, which is kind of nice because with everything
- 51:54Speaker 3: going on, because they come from your country, your area,
- 51:58Speaker 3: there's probably not a terriff, that's right.
- 52:01Speaker 1: That's right.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Yeah, And I ordered one of these shirts from Chopped
- 52:04Speaker 2: Teas and it's uh, I'm not just saying this to blows.
- 52:07Speaker 4: More comfortable than the other one.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yes, yes, And you know, I've had
- 52:13Speaker 2: cheap T shirts and I've had expensive T shirts, you know,
- 52:16Speaker 2: And and the cheap T shirts are the kind of
- 52:19Speaker 2: like the silky print and they're kind of these are
- 52:21Speaker 2: one cotton, which is the only kind of shirt I
- 52:24Speaker 2: can wear because I'm allergit polyester, and and I I
- 52:28Speaker 2: wear this as an everyday shirt, like I'll wear working out,
- 52:31Speaker 2: I'll wear it just out and about. You know, it's
- 52:33Speaker 2: it's one of my go to T shirts that I
- 52:35Speaker 2: probably wear more than any other shirt. And it still
- 52:38Speaker 2: holds up after many, many, many menu washes. So I said,
- 52:41Speaker 2: that's that's the honesty guy's truth. It's a great T shirt.
- 52:45Speaker 2: If you want to support the show, heading over to
- 52:47Speaker 2: trekcast dot com and click on.

- 53:00Speaker 4: other ones wearing out the one award to Europe.
- 53:02Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's time for another one.

- 53:39Speaker 4: Know, to mention the guy that played in Teenage Meeting Ninja,
- 53:42Speaker 4: Turtles and Rosall Goal, he was in tron is the
- 53:46Speaker 4: bad guy?
- 53:47Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Oh okay, he's in a lot of stuff.
- 53:53Speaker 4: That guy was five. He was He was in a
- 53:55Speaker 4: ton of stuff back then.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Nice, he was gold card in chain of Command.
- 54:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think I was everything that's awesome
- 54:07Speaker 4: in the eighties and nineties. We need a villain, it's
- 54:12Speaker 4: pretty damn Yeah, I grab him.
- 54:16Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 54:18Speaker 4: What are you guys gonna do your five review?
- 54:21Speaker 3: I've never seen Babylon five.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Well, yeah we were probably next week we're gonna do

- 54:30Speaker 2: We're gonna review the entire series in one episode.
- 54:33Speaker 3: So I can't remember, but I know it might be
- 54:39Speaker 3: out already, but if not very soon. But Patty and
- 54:42Speaker 3: three is coming to Netflix, so you know we're gonna
- 54:44Speaker 3: have to.
- 54:45Speaker 4: Have you seen it, Daniel, I have not seen it yet.
- 54:48Speaker 4: You didn't go to the theater to see it?
- 54:50Speaker 3: No, I have been.
- 54:54Speaker 4: You'll see Benicio del Toro was No, it was Antonio Banderas.
- 55:00Speaker 3: I could not in good conscious be a grown ass
- 55:04Speaker 3: man and be like, I want one for Paddington three. Please.
- 55:08Speaker 4: Well, I have a wife. I do have an excuse.
