- 0:55So we got to know the enemy again.
- 0:59It's like red and white. I want to go see what he's got
- 1:01to say for us when we get in there.
- 1:05So now let's tell the truth, because we all lied our asses
- 1:12off last Wednesday night. What were we supposed to do,
- 1:15man? What were we supposed to do?
- 1:18Oh no. Talent.
- 1:19What were we supposed to do? I did it by design.
- 1:22I knew what was going to happen. I just wanted to throw them off
- 1:24all. Right, Well, well, let's, let's
- 1:28tell the truth and let's talk about what went well.
- 1:30And y'all, for the first time in damn near 3 years, Virginia Tech
- 1:35wins A1 score game. Hey, clap it up, man.
- 1:39Come on, clap it up. We need to get out of clap, man.
- 1:44I don't think people understand. Well, I do know chat.
- 1:48They understand. You guys understand how big that
- 1:51win was. Just giving us two wins for the
- 1:55year. Some people said we would only
- 1:57get one. We got a lot going on, man.
- 1:59We just fired a coach, you know, We just beat Wofford.
- 2:03Who is Wofford? And then you go into North
- 2:09Carolina State, you're going to Raleigh, you're going to their
- 2:11house. Nobody has confidence in you.
- 2:15I know I did and I'm going to speak for myself.
- 2:19Didn't have any confidence in getting going and getting a win.
- 2:22You got people that are kind of in the portal, kind of not.
- 2:25Some of them are already in the portal.
- 2:28We don't know what the coaches are thinking, but I have never
- 2:33seen, and I'm a knock on something since Pry has been
- 2:38here. I don't think with my eyes I've
- 2:41seen that much energy on the sidelines.
- 2:44I ain't going to talk about the gameplay going and watching the
- 2:47game. I watched it about three times.
- 2:49The sideline was electric. You know, I seen, I seen Pray
- 2:56Pearson hop off the sideline and start twerking.
- 3:00I mean, what's going on? We got all kinds of stuff going
- 3:04on on the sideline. I've seen money jumping.
- 3:08You know, it just, it feels good that you've seen somebody give a
- 3:12damn about the game. Curtis, what you think, man?
- 3:16Well, that, that it was just, I mean, we were texting all during
- 3:22the night. I was sitting here with my son
- 3:24watching a game and it was just I, I don't know, because in in
- 3:30those situations over the last three years and even some part
- 3:33of even before that last, the Leon against Liberty, it was
- 3:36always like, we're going to screw this up.
- 3:39Literally that is going through my head.
- 3:41We're going to screw this up, or we're going to.
- 3:42Probably I'm going to throw this in.
- 3:44I'm going to throw this in Curtis right quick and let and
- 3:46I'm going to come back to you. My daughter's birthday with my
- 3:49daughter. My daughter's birthday was
- 3:50Saturday, so I was out. So everybody's watching the
- 3:54Alabama, Georgia game. We're at some little bar here
- 3:57and I'm looking at it on my phone.
- 3:59And we punt that ball away and I turn my phone off and I text
- 4:04Curtis and I say I know how this ends.
- 4:07And I. You did and and and and.
- 4:09I just shook my hand when I saw that text.
- 4:11Brian, you saw it. I said, I know how this ends and
- 4:14couple of things are going on, but I think somebody came on and
- 4:18said we did it and I was like, did what?
- 4:22We we lost it. I knew we we gave it away in my
- 4:25mind, but now I'm going to throw it back to you, Curtis.
- 4:29I text that, hey, I know how this ends.
- 4:32So that means we punt the ball away at the end of the game and
- 4:36then what we do, Curtis, what happens?
- 4:38Well, we make the stops, we put them in a fourth down situation
- 4:42and and a lot of people say why didn't you run Hollywood
- 4:44Smothers day or why didn't you bring the Wilson kid in?
- 4:47Because we had stopped them a couple times on 3rd and shorts.
- 4:50We stopped them on 1/4 and short.
- 4:52Caleb's basically the D line wiped out Brian.
- 4:54You probably remember this play better and you probably can we
- 4:57wipe it out. Caleb Spencer comes in back door
- 4:59meets mothers in the hole stops and we get the ball back.
- 5:04We had them mentally beat on that.
- 5:05They were sitting there fourth and one where it's like you
- 5:08should run the ball and they're like, now they stopped us like 3
- 5:11or 4 times. We can't do that.
- 5:12And when Christian Ellis played that thing, perfect.
- 5:15I mean, shout out to Christian Ellis, first of all.
- 5:18Shout out to everyone wearing #8 on Virginia.
- 5:21Tech yeah, absolutely. But when he made that play, it
- 5:26was just like yes, like yes, I I had not felt that good in a long
- 5:32time, especially being A1 score game.
- 5:34Blowouts are fun. A1 and A1 score game.
- 5:38It ain't nothing like it. All right, I will.
- 5:40I will say something real quick. This is going to be a little bit
- 5:42of pat myself on the back and I said it this morning on on big
- 5:47dog sports talk. Rewind back to the spring game.
- 5:51I was there, I watched, I came back, I talked to it, I talked
- 5:54about it. When I was talking about safety
- 5:57play, who did I say that I liked the most that I was?
- 6:01I was like, this guy was out there, he was making some plays.
- 6:05You did #8. It was Christian Ellis it.
- 6:06Was Christian. Ellis.
- 6:07You did, Christian. Ellis So let me.
- 6:09So let me and. He has been he's played more the
- 6:11last two weeks. I'm excited to see that.
- 6:14And I don't know if it was we paid these other guys more so
- 6:18they they got in and now that somebody's gone, the rules.
- 6:22Are different. I like I like I like where you
- 6:24going right there, Brian, hold on, hold on till you talk
- 6:27because I want to I want to unpack a little bit because I
- 6:30know we got to we got to go, but we got to talk about it because
- 6:33the chat is here and I know they want to hear what my man Curtis
- 6:37has to say and you too, Brian, because you brought it up.
- 6:43I don't want to keep dumping on pry.
- 6:45I I really don't because I think pry is a good guy.
- 6:48He's a bad coach. He's a good guy over the last
- 6:51two weeks, just like Brian just said, My God, that's my brother.
- 6:55Over the last two weeks, we've seen #8 on the field more.
- 6:59And again, I know when you see somebody playing against
- 7:02somebody like Wofford, you're like, whatever, you know?
- 7:05But then we go to North Carolina State and you see #8 flying all
- 7:10over the field, flying all over the field.
- 7:13And then we got to throw in the freshman on the field.
- 7:17I mean wreaking havoc 14 and 16, Robinson and and and Chambers.
- 7:24So what Chambers And then last but not least, another name I'm
- 7:28going to throw out is Caleb Spencer.
- 7:31Caleb Spencer is, if he's not leading the team in tackles, I
- 7:35think he may be second. And I feel like he's only played
- 7:41in two games. So now I'm going to throw this
- 7:43out just so I can get y'all to unpack a.
- 7:46Little give it to Brian first give it to Brian.
- 7:48I'm going to I'm. Going to give it to Brian
- 7:49because Brian, you started it and you said it prize gone.
- 7:56Is it because we didn't trust these guys?
- 7:59Is it because because sometimes defensive coaches are so
- 8:03stubborn and they think this is what I want my defense to look
- 8:06like, put this person in. Is it that is it we paid this
- 8:10guy? Is it I don't want to piss these
- 8:12parents off? What do you think was the
- 8:15problem of us not seeing more talented people on the field?
- 8:22I think. The frustrating part and, and,
- 8:24and some of this, so you know, we, we've seen the number of
- 8:28guys that are out last week. We, we already got a couple
- 8:32other guys in the portal, so #1 there's going to be more snaps
- 8:36for guys down the roster. But I think what's frustrating
- 8:39is that you're seeing these guys get these opportunities and
- 8:42they're making plays and they're playing better than some of the
- 8:44guys that have been getting more snaps to this point.
- 8:48So it begs the question is, is there a reason these obviously
- 8:52talented players weren't getting more, more snaps in the game
- 8:56before this? And whether was, was it that was
- 8:59it a money deal? Was it just the opportunity now
- 9:02with, with the with the injuries?
- 9:04But I'm, I'm seeing guys that they're getting an opportunity
- 9:07and they are going out and making the most of it.
- 9:09And Christian Ellis is at the top of that list.
- 9:11But you said Noah Chambers. I mean that obviously he's a,
- 9:14he's a younger guy, but he was getting in there making some
- 9:16plays. I'm just excited to see these
- 9:19young guys go in there and ball out because it's, it's been
- 9:22something that I think we've been talking about from an
- 9:24accountability standpoint. I know that's been something
- 9:27that we've talked about. We've seen Dwight Victoria talk
- 9:29about it a lot. We've seen some of the other
- 9:31guys talk about is that if guys aren't getting the job done,
- 9:35there's other people on your roster, put them in and see what
- 9:37they can do. Yep.
- 9:39I think it's that Brown, what you said right there and then,
- 9:42somewhat of a blind loyalty in the money.
- 9:44The money should never matter. If you're paying the guy
- 9:47$600,000, but he's playing like dog shit, take him out, put
- 9:52somebody else in. And I think that was one thing
- 9:55we can all say. We'll probably think he had his
- 9:57loyalty to a fault to a fault for him because we've seen it.
- 10:01Remember how long it took Caleb Woodson to get and we saw
- 10:04linebacker play improved last year.
- 10:06You know, we know Caleb's going through stuff.
- 10:09We don't know where it quite is yet, but then we see the same
- 10:12thing. It's like OK give Caleb Spencer
- 10:15a chance played good take Jay and Keller off the field.
- 10:18See I know it does does good Some of the somebody else will
- 10:23will mention this in a second struggling to safety put the put
- 10:26the put the Robinson kid in and they play better.
- 10:30So yeah and I think and again. But you said that he want to be
- 10:35friends with the parents and that he want to be did Did he
- 10:38want this or did he want people mad at it?
- 10:40Maybe that was it. And again, to be a head coach,
- 10:44you are going to piss off a lot of people and you just cannot
- 10:47care who you piss off. And maybe that's what it was.
- 10:51This is my this is my tank. My take on on Coach Pry.
- 10:56I I keep saying every week, all right, I'm going to stop, I'm
- 10:58going to quit, talk about it, but I can't.
- 10:59We have to. No, no, we have to though.
- 11:01We have to. Yeah, because it's it's still
- 11:04being unpacked exactly from from Jess.
- 11:09People that I trust, things that I've seen.
- 11:13I feel like Cry got paid and was living like a rock star.
- 11:18He felt as if he was a celebrity.
- 11:21He liked to go out and mix and mingle and, you know, go to the
- 11:24bar or go out and eat and everybody's like, oh, that's
- 11:27coach proud over there. I think that he kind of fell in
- 11:31love with that aspect of being the coach at Virginia Tech
- 11:36because you can go coach at UNLV and they probably won't see you.
- 11:40You're in Las Vegas, You know what I'm saying?
- 11:43Like it's too many people there. But in Blacksburg, if you see
- 11:46the coach out, they're probably going to say, hey, I need to
- 11:48take some pictures. Coach.
- 11:50Coach was going to win Saturday. So I think he kind of fell in
- 11:52love with the celebrity part of it and handling that part more
- 11:58than winning fucking games, which is what you're getting
- 12:02paid millions of dollars for. And Brian, somebody put
- 12:05something up. I think it was Justin on there.
- 12:09He said he wanted us to speak about about Scott.
- 12:15He wanted us to speak about Scott.
- 12:16They kept calling him Scott, the defensive coordinator with his
- 12:19name is Sam, but they kept saying Scott Siefkis on the on
- 12:24the on the on the broadcast. They kept saying Scott Siefkis.
- 12:28But anyway, I can't remember. I don't see where the chat is
- 12:31there. Yeah, it's it's.
- 12:32So it's about half time he was, Oh yeah, man, he was into it.
- 12:36So I was going to say because you brought the video up, I had
- 12:41never heard him talk. I never, I mean, I heard him in
- 12:44a couple of podcasts, but I've never heard him like on the
- 12:48field talking or seeing anything.
- 12:50So what did you think about that video?
- 12:52Just seeing how he was interacting at halftime, hat
- 12:56backwards, standing up on the table or a bench and just
- 13:00emotion. What do you say?
- 13:02And. And, and I know we're talking
- 13:04about that. That band needs to keep the hat
- 13:06on, so I'm glad to see him. When he was going through his
- 13:09rant, he had the hat on because. He, I don't know, he was like.
- 13:12It was backwards, Backwards. It was backwards.
- 13:14It was on. It was on.
- 13:17On and backwards. You know what, I think just in
- 13:20general when we looked at pride, there was a lot of even keel
- 13:26demeanor on the sideline in the locker room.
- 13:29And I think we'll we'll say it it to probably to a fault in
- 13:32most cases to a fault. I was excited to see energy and
- 13:40like they were having a good time playing football.
- 13:43They were having a good time coaching football and they were
- 13:46showing their emotions outwardly.
- 13:49It wasn't just, you know, scribbles on a notepad.
- 13:51I know there's already some comments in the chat on that.
- 13:53I mean, you know, I, I'm a type of, I'm a very analytical
- 13:57person, but I'm a different person when I'm on the
- 14:01sidelines, when I need to get guys going with I need to show
- 14:05emotion when I need to be in the moment.
- 14:08So you got to have that switch. You got to be able to switch
- 14:11that on when the time is appropriate.
- 14:14And I don't I don't know if Pry had that gear at the right
- 14:16moments in his head coaching role because it's weird because
- 14:20you you you've seen a different, you know, prize a coordinator
- 14:23was different than prize a head coach.
- 14:24I don't know if that's Blacksburg, if that's the
- 14:26position, if that's just he changed his mindset about how he
- 14:30was approaching things or, you know, whatever.
- 14:32Maybe, but he was a different guy.
- 14:34How he approached the game and it filtered down to the players.
- 14:37It filtered down to his staff. And getting a different energy
- 14:40in the locker room has made a difference.
- 14:44Absolutely. I'm going to say something else
- 14:46too. And I love what Derek said here.
- 14:47Derek, this is the first time I've seen you in here, so
- 14:50welcome to the chat. Sam Seifkis called a hell of a
- 14:55game versus the run. Hollywood's mothers was fifth in
- 14:59the country running the ball. He got 60. 7.
- 15:03Yards 67 yards Saturday night. His longest was 11.
- 15:10His game plans are how to stop him.
- 15:12Basically took away what they wanted to do.
- 15:15Bailey made some good throws here and there.
- 15:18But something that's been mentioned over and over and you
- 15:20noticed this Saturday night and I think it's a reason we pumm
- 15:23the ball late and it's what went well.
- 15:26We kept making them drive the field long distances.
- 15:30They knew, and you heard Monty say it today in his presser, We
- 15:35knew they had. They had not exploded for any
- 15:37this year. You're going to beat us, you're
- 15:39going to put the ball 40 yards down the field because we're
- 15:42going to punt. We're going to pin you deep.
- 15:43And we did. If y'all remember where they
- 15:46were, I think they were like the 15 yard line.
- 15:48Let me make sure I got a little note here on it.
- 15:53Yep, they were starting at the 18 yard line.
- 15:57He knew you were going to have to go 53 yards in less.
- 16:01By the way, brilliantly managed game too.
- 16:04You're going to have to do that in less than a minute.
- 16:08It's taking you 5 and 6 minutes every time to get into scoring
- 16:12range. So Sam Cephas knew the game plan
- 16:16and that was the best thing. And you saw his emotion,
- 16:19especially in the locker room at halftime.
- 16:21So it's great to see. All right, Tally, I'm going to
- 16:23pitch this to you, right pitches you were you pitching to us.
- 16:27And I love it because I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't.
- 16:30Got some pieces together and Tally's feasting on them.
- 16:32But Tally, Brian already mentioned #8 on offense, carry
- 16:37on, Stewart. Just I know you were at the bar
- 16:41at the restaurant watching those games, but when you saw some of
- 16:43those first early runs where they weren't bringing him down,
- 16:47immediately, what, what started going through your head?
- 16:51Well, The thing is, is like, we do all of this research, you
- 16:54know what I'm saying? I'll call Curtis all offseason
- 16:58and he'll send me stuff and Shelton will send me these
- 17:01grades. And we talked about broken
- 17:03tackles and what he did at his other school and what pieces
- 17:07we're going to have. And we haven't seen it.
- 17:10You know, he's hurt. Whether we didn't trust him, I
- 17:14don't know. But I know he looked healthy.
- 17:18He looked healthy Saturday. And when I seen him on the
- 17:22field, which I've seen him a couple other games and I was
- 17:25like, Oh yeah, he's got more verse than anybody else.
- 17:27We're putting in the backfield, You know, just a couple of plays
- 17:30that I've seen. But again, you got to get you
- 17:34got to get, you got to get healthy, but you got to get your
- 17:39players on the field. Now, I did talk to a couple of
- 17:42people that I trust about the team before the season and you
- 17:48know, after this game, some parents, some players and couple
- 17:52of players. You'd never want to put a injury
- 17:57as the reason we lose games or anything like that.
- 18:00But I will say this, Johnny Garrett goes down.
- 18:04Win. Brian, do you remember Johnny
- 18:08Garrett goes down against Vandy? Vandy.
- 18:11Yeah. Right right before half right we
- 18:14were up 20 to 10 whole game changes.
- 18:17I'm pretty sure we were playing 4 red shirt freshmen and Vandy
- 18:22just feasted. You know Cunningham gets hurt.
- 18:27Totally different. Team 8 is not playing and ODU
- 18:31was. Everybody gave up.
- 18:33We've lost both of these close games.
- 18:35We should have won or games were kind of close and we should have
- 18:38won. And you know, you hear all this
- 18:40chatter, it happens. It is what it is.
- 18:43Now you've got a body and team and you coming back from some
- 18:46injuries and #8 says give me the ball.
- 18:50So when I seen it, I'm I'm at the bar and I look at #8 I said,
- 18:55shoot, they need to make him what, 33?
- 18:57He looked like 33 that we used to have right back there in the
- 19:00backfield, you know, just drop about 5 inches.
- 19:05Same guy. You know, about 5 inches.
- 19:10That's all you got to drop. Same guy.
- 19:13We bouncing off people, we running over people, we getting
- 19:15up, we doing a little dancy dance like that's Virginia Tech
- 19:18football. He was having a good time. 106
- 19:21was it? Was it 174176174I mean 15
- 19:28carries? Yeah, 174 on 1511 and.
- 19:33Listen and listen, man. When you got somebody that is
- 19:37doing that, it amps up everybody.
- 19:41I've seen Kyron Drones do some stuff I ain't never seen him do.
- 19:45I talked to his dad, he said. I've seen Kevin shout out to
- 19:48Kevin Drones, Kevin said. I seen my son on the sidelines
- 19:52standing up, waving a towel, hopping up and down.
- 19:54He just, he don't do that. He's not that kind of kid.
- 19:58He's a, he's a man, but he just, he, he usually don't, he's not
- 20:01like that. But when you see somebody giving
- 20:05it all they got going hard like #8 was how can you not get hyped
- 20:10if you not hyped on that offense with somebody doing what he's
- 20:14doing? He making something out of
- 20:16nothing on plays. You know, he's turning a three
- 20:19yard run into a 8 yard run. He's turning A8 yard run into a
- 20:2416 yard run, falling down, getting up.
- 20:27You know what I'm saying? Doing the first downside, bro,
- 20:30that's football. We've been missing that.
- 20:32We just been handing the ball off, get what you can get, get
- 20:36back in the huddle. Come on, man, we was on some
- 20:39bullshit. Now we've got some people that
- 20:43feel like we got something to prove.
- 20:45So I feel like, how far does that go where we just plan on
- 20:48emotions for one game or do we take this into the next game?
- 20:52Do we take this back home? Do we show our fans at our house
- 20:57that I know y'all gave up on us for good reason, but we still
- 21:00got a product to put on the plate for you.
- 21:02So Rob, what you think about 8? I know you mentioned it, what
- 21:05you think about 8. Man, so we were, we were out
- 21:08there, I was over at a friend's house, son had a birthday.
- 21:11We went over there, we're playing some games, got to have
- 21:14the game on TV and he breaks off that run where he broke like 3
- 21:18tackles and drag guys about another 8 or 9 yards and Buddy's
- 21:24wife said he's small and I said no, he's short.
- 21:28He's. 58220 He is not small. You can't get lower than him.
- 21:36No, you can't. You can't get lower than him.
- 21:39And it is crazy, man, because like watching him run it, it, it
- 21:42reminds me of Tooten to a little bit, but it's also a little bit
- 21:47angrier in terms, in terms of the style, probably not quite as
- 21:52that at breakaway speed that Tooten has.
- 21:55But at the same time, I love a guy that's like that, that low
- 21:59center of gravity runs angry, can still shake you a little
- 22:02bit. I I'm glad we're seeing more of
- 22:05him because I that, that was something we sorely missed in
- 22:08this offense the first few weeks of the season.
- 22:10You're 100% right. One last thing before we get
- 22:13into a couple getting one. All pretty.
- 22:16We we, we realist here y'all John love.
- 22:22The game. Good ain't no ain't no question
- 22:25about. That man it.
- 22:26Is good. Cool as a cucumber.
- 22:31I bet it ain't no kicker. I bet it's no kicker on any
- 22:35college campus that's getting more ass than John Love.
- 22:40And it can't be. It cannot be.
- 22:44Name a better kicker or more sought after kicker than John
- 22:48Love right now. He probably leading the team in
- 22:50points. Man, we get we get in a bad
- 22:56spot, we get in a bad spot. John Love is going to do his
- 23:01job. He going to do his job.
- 23:04If he miss it, it ain't his fault.
- 23:06He can miss a 30 yard kick off, say that ain't his fucking
- 23:09fault. Jon Love is untouchable until
- 23:14he's on such. Other man.
- 23:17Because he's been doing it. He's been doing it, man.
- 23:20You know what I'm saying? Protect that man at all costs.
- 23:22Don't let him get hit. No celebrations.
- 23:25Don't jump up and down. No Martine.
- 23:27Grammatical stuff. Stay on the ground.
- 23:30We need you. Please, Johnny Boy.
- 23:34There you go John Lowe all right, let's talk about what
- 23:37went bad real quick and first of all, the fumble that if we could
- 23:42have got our damn hands on would have sealed the game much
- 23:45earlier, not made us worry as bad.
- 23:47Have you ever seen a ball get that close to so many people on
- 23:50your team and just keeps moving away?
- 23:52I. Thought I was watching.
- 23:55Was it football follies back in the day?
- 23:57Just. Kicking the.
- 23:57Ball around. You know what I thought it was?
- 24:01You remember the the Buffalo Wild Wings commercial for the
- 24:07Buffalo Wild Wings? But somebody's got the the butt.
- 24:09The little thing moving about. Yeah, got the butt.
- 24:11Oh, no. We need overtime.
- 24:13We need more play. Yeah, that's what it.
- 24:15That's what it looked like to me.
- 24:16It's just couldn't get our hands on it, man.
- 24:18I was like. Crazy because that would have
- 24:21ended the game right there if we could have got our hands.
- 24:23On. It Brian, you threw this in
- 24:25here, obviously, I think you probably feel run, run, run
- 24:29blocking was off the chain Saturday because at no point was
- 24:35the the other thing I noticed, and I'm sure you noticed
- 24:38probably more than me. He was getting hit, but he was
- 24:41getting hit a yard or two into the run.
- 24:45There wasn't too many that he got hit 3 or 4 yards in the
- 24:47backfield, but that was good. But you said just a few things
- 24:51concerned you about the Pass Pro.
- 24:53Yeah. I mean, you know, we're starting
- 24:56to see a little bit of problems with that.
- 24:58I think it's just we've had a little bit of a shuffle across
- 25:02the board, right? We've seen a bunch of different
- 25:04bodies. We've had a couple different
- 25:05guys in there at left tackle. We've kind of had to sly guys
- 25:08around and I think some of that is just starting to show across
- 25:11the board. It's going to be interesting to
- 25:14see if as this offensive line gets healthy, if some of those
- 25:18things kind of go away a little bit or if they continues to, to,
- 25:22to crop up there. But we're playing, some of the
- 25:24younger guys are playing some guys.
- 25:26I, I don't think you know, depth wise.
- 25:27We wanted to get out there for as many snaps as we have and I
- 25:30think some of that starting to show a little bit.
- 25:32Thankfully, if you got a good running game, if you can lean on
- 25:34that a little bit more, that's going to take some pressure off
- 25:37the pass rush. So as long as we can keep keep
- 25:40rolling with the with the offensive line on the the rush
- 25:43game, I think that'll, you know, help on that front, But it
- 25:47definitely was not the the best showing for the offensive line
- 25:51in the past pro game this week. Yeah, and a couple.
- 25:53Times Kyra had to scramble that that throw to Benji that should
- 25:57have went on the that was unbelievable.
- 25:59The throw to. Benji was was great.
- 26:01The the the throw to Hawkins on the touchdown was great.
- 26:05Oh, he stood in there for that. They won't.
- 26:07They won't. That won't pass bro.
- 26:09That wouldn't pass bro. But I'm I was.
- 26:10Just bringing more people up, Kyron.
- 26:11And and and. Hanging in there.
- 26:13That was the one he hung in there for.
- 26:14All right, boys, I'm. Going to, I'm going to tell you.
- 26:17This before we go to the next thing.
- 26:18Curtis, go ahead. I think it was Cunningham.
- 26:21Somebody was holding like a motherfucker on the end of the
- 26:24line when Kyron breaks out and throws the past the AG sliding
- 26:27on the sideline. Go back and watch.
- 26:30That. Play whoever was on the end.
- 26:31I think it was Cunningham holding like a mug.
- 26:34If I was North Carolina State, I'd have been pissed.
- 26:37But guess what? I'll take a holding.
- 26:39Shit. Don't let him hit my
- 26:40quarterback. Shoot a CAG on them, you know
- 26:42what I'm saying? Push him down, grab his helmet,
- 26:44do something. Hell, I'll take it all.
- 26:49Right. Real quick, this is another of
- 26:52the bad because we had some guys who had played a lot of football
- 26:56absolutely struggle with tackling that name.
- 26:59Their names kept popping up in our chat all night.
- 27:03Brian 1 was Jaden. Keller, Tally.
- 27:07The other. Was flowers.
- 27:11And it and and everybody's. Like y'all just hard on them Nah
- 27:14that y'all see the PFF grades they were both under like they
- 27:18were both under like 45 tackling grades.
- 27:20Which means when you are that I always Sheldon, you can explain
- 27:24it better, but it's always been you start getting to that nether
- 27:27region you missed and you a lot of tackles not taken away
- 27:31because Cat flowers almost good to pick.
- 27:34But it's like this game maybe could have been even an easier
- 27:39victory. Maybe we didn't need that, but
- 27:42they struggled. It's just struggle tackling.
- 27:46Like there's a couple times like Keller made some good heads up
- 27:49tackle, but there was one play and I can't remember what it
- 27:51was. I don't know if y'all remember.
- 27:53So that he comes in and he's got the guy leveraged and then the
- 27:56guy kind of makes a movement. He just kind of stands up.
- 27:58Like he doesn't. He just kind of stands up and
- 27:59looks around like what are you doing?
- 28:02It's something he's right there. So.
- 28:06That those they worry me when it becomes the open space tackle
- 28:11early in the. Game the the one that I knew I
- 28:13was like this going to be a this going to be a long night for
- 28:15Keller was Smothers ran inside. And I mean, it was, it was clear
- 28:21as day and inside zone holes opens up, Keller is slow to
- 28:26fill, he's about two yards from the line of scrimmage, doesn't
- 28:30beat him in the gap there and gets kind of shook out of his
- 28:34pants a little bit. I think we ended up being the
- 28:36longest run of the night for smothers or or or close to it.
- 28:40I think it was like a 8 or 8 or 10 yarder and should have been
- 28:44one or no yard game if you just get in your gap and make a play.
- 28:49He hesitated. Then he got shook.
- 28:51I mean, it was just bad all around and the night got worse
- 28:55for him as it went on. Yeah.
- 28:59All right, rule of thumb, if you are, if you're watching a game
- 29:02and you see ADB look like a baby and you took his toy away and
- 29:06he's doing this, he probably got beat.
- 29:10There's no reason you should have thriller arms if you're
- 29:12playing safe, you're trying to follow.
- 29:16You should not have. Arms like thriller if you are
- 29:19playing safety, chasing that receiver.
- 29:22Flowers, I like you, my boy. I mean, I I like what I see from
- 29:27you as a football veteran, but as a football player, come on
- 29:37man, I vouch for you. I want you to do better, but you
- 29:40got to start showing us something.
- 29:42You got to start hitting some people because they put some
- 29:44freshmen in and these they hit you.
- 29:47They need you to hit somebody. Make some happy real.
- 29:51Quick I I. Want us just to go kind of 1 by
- 29:541? What's in your head?
- 29:55Anything you are not prepared for on Saturday?
- 30:01I I would say we, you know, we, we got to win despite not
- 30:06really, you know, turning the ball over.
- 30:09You know, we, we didn't, we didn't have any really takeaways
- 30:12in this in this game, but we still you'd have to.
- 30:15Tell me we had three turnovers. The way I felt last Wednesday
- 30:18night to win this game. Oh, we won the game, man.
- 30:21They must have just kept giving us the ball over and over,
- 30:24right? Was this?
- 30:26Was this Tommy Castellanos? Like just slinging it at us.
- 30:31Here you go, here you go, Tal. Anything you weren't prepared
- 30:34for, Brian saying. When does fight lack of
- 30:36turnovers? Talon?
- 30:38I was not prepared. For us to have a running back to
- 30:41run for 174 yards. No matter who was back.
- 30:46There, I wouldn't prepare for Terry on Stuart for sure, but I
- 30:49wouldn't prepare for us to have a running back in a running
- 30:53game. They had a running back run for
- 30:55174 yards. That was crazy.
- 31:00I I thought we'd have some. Ability to move the football
- 31:03against them. I didn't think he was going to
- 31:04be that run heavy and I didn't think, like you said, one back
- 31:08going out there and just dominating. 100% Curtis, what
- 31:12you got? For me.
- 31:14Because of just how the season had went so far up to that game
- 31:20last weekend, we were given up somewhere in the neighborhood of
- 31:25about A150160 rushing yards. People were running all over us.
- 31:33Yeah. We.
- 31:34Gave up less than 60 yards on the ground that I was not
- 31:39prepared for that because I what I say last week I said smothers
- 31:43just don't get his. They just can't be big ones.
- 31:46He didn't have any big one that he didn't get his and I that
- 31:49just completely I was not prepared for that.
- 31:52All right, I'm I'm going to go to the what we got to do better
- 31:56moving forward. If the Kyron drones in the way
- 31:59he passed in the second-half shows up all game, especially
- 32:03Aiden Green Aiden green you got to catch that that might have
- 32:06been the best D ball kyron's throne in his career here
- 32:10because he put that one right on the money, but in the
- 32:12second-half. I don't know something like I
- 32:15want to say I. Think I did it.
- 32:18It's like he. Was like 8 of 11.
- 32:21He only missed the one that he only missed a couple passes in
- 32:24the second-half and along with the Stewart, if that Kyron shows
- 32:30up and he's somewhere in the 6570% and we're passing it 2025
- 32:35* a game and running the ball with Stewart and with Kyron,
- 32:39with Marcellus Hawkins. We might do something stupid.
- 32:44If if he can. Keep that level of efficiency
- 32:47for a whole game and he's somewhere in that 200 to 250
- 32:51range yardage. He's had another 30 or 40 on the
- 32:54ground, and then you get another ground attack from the
- 32:58combination of Stewart and Hawkins.
- 33:00Like we saw this past week that that's something that's pretty
- 33:04formidable. And that's something where, you
- 33:07know, as, as Cam was talking about earlier, you know, with us
- 33:10with, with Wake, I mean, they're they're going to make a lot of
- 33:13these teams are going to stack the box and, and and make Kyron
- 33:15beat you with his arm. We're going, we're going to get
- 33:18the teams that can do that, that aren't where we can't just run
- 33:22through them despite them having the box filled.
- 33:25We're going to have to, you know, pivot to to that passing
- 33:27game and have to be efficient with that because we know that
- 33:30Monty likes to sling the ball around a little bit.
- 33:32It's not going to always be deep down the field.
- 33:34It's not going to be things like that, but he's going to throw
- 33:36the ball a good amount of times. We got to continue to be
- 33:39efficient with those completions.
- 33:42And when we've been at least somewhat efficient on offense in
- 33:46the passing game, it hasn't been pretty.
- 33:49We haven't been great in the red zone, but we've moved the fault,
- 33:52the ball up and down the field 1/3 and out.
- 33:55We had 1/3 and out Saturday. Yeah.
- 33:58So and and that and that's what's great.
- 33:59You know, and we and we did pretty well, you know, the first
- 34:03game and 1/2 with with, with those things and then the wheels
- 34:06kind of fell off, you know, second-half of Vandy on and I
- 34:10feel like we may have, you know, recaptured a little bit of that
- 34:13with with this NC State game and I'm hoping that the.
- 34:17Thing that I was. Most proud of and that we can
- 34:19need to continue doing moving forward is that we didn't let a
- 34:24negative play snowball on us. And I think we saw that you
- 34:29know, we saw that Vanderbilt. We obviously saw that ODU.
- 34:32You know Vanderbilt, we let a couple bad things turn into an
- 34:36awful second-half ODU. They came out and they punched
- 34:39us in the mouth early and we never had a counter push.
- 34:42We quit. Yeah, we never had a counter
- 34:45punch and we quit. So I saw a team that negative
- 34:49plays happen and mentally we stayed even keel.
- 34:53We were excited on the on the sideline, we were gas, we were
- 34:56doing those things. But mentally up top we stayed
- 34:59even keel. We didn't let that one play turn
- 35:01into 5 all. Right tally.
- 35:06Anything from? Saturday night.
- 35:10That you want to close us out with here just.
- 35:15I, I don't know how the rest of the season go.
- 35:17I ain't going to look that far. I'm going to say next game, I
- 35:19don't know how the next game goes.
- 35:21I do have, I know we'll do a prediction a little bit, but
- 35:25just energy, energy and effort, man, You know what I'm saying?
- 35:28I haven't seen that kind of energy from players and coaches
- 35:35in a while. You know, even in games that we
- 35:38were in, like South Carolina, I didn't feel like we had the same
- 35:41kind of energy. They wanted to give us the game
- 35:44and we just was kind of playing the game.
- 35:46We didn't want to take the game. You know, in this game, it was
- 35:49like, you heard it, we got to go take the game.
- 35:53This is our game, let's go take it.
- 35:56And the kids bought in and that's what they went and done.
- 35:59So I'll be interested to see if we come out with that same
- 36:03energy and that effort where it takes US against White Forest.
- 36:08I like what Justin said. There put up Derek's too,
- 36:13because it is all on saying now and it's already been a positive
- 36:17for the for the first game against AP5 opponent.
- 36:20So yeah, all right, so that takes care of that.
- 36:23Tell the truth Tuesday. We try not to tell any lies.
- 36:27We just tell what we see. All right, so let's hit some
- 36:30music notes because the day was the big day with the board of
- 36:34visitors and I think we all knew what was going to happen.
- 36:38And it did happen with one person saying no.
- 36:41But the Bob did approve for the new funding as a vote of 13 to
- 36:46one. Basically, within the next 4
- 36:49years, Tech's going to be operating north of 200 million
- 36:52in the athletic budget. What does that mean for
- 36:55football? Well, football is the biggest
- 36:57portion of the athletic budget. People can get paid more, a lot
- 37:02more for NIL. I don't think there was ever any
- 37:05doubt, Nancy Dye saying. I don't think it's fair to the
- 37:10student fees. You know.
- 37:14The first. Thing you want to say is.
- 37:15Well, they're still the lowest in state.
- 37:19You've got to figure out a. Way to make money.
- 37:22You've got better ideas, you should be presenting them.
- 37:25That's always another thing I don't like, Mike says.
- 37:27Well, I think it's because this OK, my first thing I'd be a
- 37:30smart ass. So what are we going to do then?
- 37:32Or do you want us not to have a good athletics program?
- 37:36Right. Yeah, Dave.
- 37:37Put it up here. But I mean, no shock, right?
- 37:41Yeah, no, no shock. Man, I mean, we knew it was
- 37:43going to happen. It had to happen.
- 37:45They tried to get their asses kicked and the Dick stumped.
- 37:48So they wanted to go ahead and do something about it.
- 37:52Let's do something about it, man.
- 37:53Let's give it our best shot and see if we can if we can create
- 37:57some stuff. Because when you look back at
- 37:59what a football team does, that is good.
- 38:01And I'm just just talking football.
- 38:03We can talk about other sports another time.
- 38:08When a football team is good. It is.
- 38:11A big win for. The city, you know, everybody in
- 38:15the chat, you've been to Blacksburg, when, when, when
- 38:17things are jumping, when game day comes in town, you know,
- 38:21like it's, it's electric. That isn't just for the football
- 38:25field. Like you can go to Food Lion or
- 38:28whatever the the the grocery store is and they're selling out
- 38:31of stuff and you got to get more people to work that day because
- 38:34you got to restock drinks. Bigger than just football.
- 38:38Football's just a catalyst and when you start talking money,
- 38:42you got to spend money to make money.
- 38:44You can't run it like a mom and pop if you want to be a
- 38:47corporation, so. Yeah, I mean, I think.
- 38:53When you look at it at the end of the day, you know, for all of
- 38:57which false when when this was first coming about, one of the
- 39:03things he said was probably one of the best things he said as AD
- 39:07And it's you're either going to pay for it now or we're going to
- 39:11pay for it later. And, and, and basically meaning
- 39:14you're either going to up the revenue now or you're going to
- 39:17pay for it later in lost revenue, whether it be drops in
- 39:22tuition, whether it be, you know, you don't, you're not in
- 39:26the national spotlight. So you're not getting that free
- 39:28billboard for the university, getting put on ESPN, get put on
- 39:34all these networks, all these networks.
- 39:36At the end of the day. You're going to lose money if
- 39:39you are irrelevant, so a lot more money a.
- 39:43Lot of they spend money. And and try to be relevant and
- 39:46and and that's the one thing I think that this fan base.
- 39:50Can't stomach is is. Being irrelevant, I think.
- 39:53I think we can, we can weather, you know, a six win season here
- 39:58or there. We can, we can weather all these
- 40:00things. We can weather it, you know,
- 40:01this, this decade of being in the in the doldrums, but I don't
- 40:05think we can weather being any, any relevant football team.
- 40:10So getting that right is going to help all the other aspects of
- 40:13the university, whether that be from a perception standpoint,
- 40:18whether that be for increasing enrollment, all those things
- 40:22will trickle down to these other areas.
- 40:24And unfortunately, when we look at student fees, that is just a,
- 40:28a part of the process now. And whether you like or dislike
- 40:32student fees, the fact of the matter is, is that the the cash
- 40:36is on the table for that and everyone else is taking it.
- 40:39So if you're not taking it, you're falling behind 100%.
- 40:45My, my, my last feel on it. Like it's all been done right
- 40:49now. There is the philanthropy,
- 40:50there's the donations. Basically Hokie Club was right
- 40:54at 20 million last year, last fiscal year.
- 40:56So it's going to have to go up plus 10 million.
- 40:59But the whole thing is with what they just done and saying we are
- 41:03devoting this much, there are going to be people that maybe
- 41:08this year you gave $200.00, but next year, you know what
- 41:11they're, they're really trying. They want to put us back where
- 41:14we were. I'm I'm going to cut a few
- 41:16things here and there and I'm going to give $700.00 this year.
- 41:19And a lot of people like what's $700.00?
- 41:21That's not that much, but an extra 500 from an extra 23000
- 41:26people, that's when you start bumping.
- 41:28That's when things happen. Or the guy who gives 1000 says
- 41:31you know what, I'm giving 5 GS this year.
- 41:34That's when you get to that goal.
- 41:36And it also doesn't hurt that this was announced after a win
- 41:40like Saturday night like that. I mean, hell, there's no better
- 41:45advertisement than that. Like look how excited people
- 41:48were. You saw you.
- 41:49You've heard like the kids were excited to say night on campus
- 41:52and stuff. So it's really good.
- 41:56There will be the athletic investment committee.
- 41:58I know I heard that something that they're going to help God
- 42:01again, that's big boy type shit. That's basically saying these
- 42:05people are going to guide you to where put the money, how to get
- 42:07the money in, not just hey, AD decide what to do with it.
- 42:12I love hearing that There was also.
- 42:15A hire last week. Which?
- 42:18Came kind of out of. Nowhere apparently had been in
- 42:20the works for a while, but Doctor Javonte Ashford is the
- 42:26new associate ID for major gifts.
- 42:28That's the big, big money. That's just 678 figures worth of
- 42:33donations. And, you know, you see, oh,
- 42:36who's this guy? Well, he's coming from
- 42:39University of Tennessee, where he was in a similar role.
- 42:43And Tally, you're a little closer to that than we are.
- 42:47You know, being in SEC country, they've made a lot of
- 42:52substantial upgrades in the last half decade down in Knoxville.
- 42:55Yeah, Yeah, a lot of. Money, man, money got around and
- 43:01you black dudes will Tennessee going and talking about giving
- 43:04gifts. He probably pretty good at
- 43:07selling. I'm going to tell you that right
- 43:08now because they like some NASCAR and stuff like that, but
- 43:12they love their football. So hey, I'll take it.
- 43:15I, I will take it. You know, I don't know much
- 43:17about him, I ain't going to lie. But I seen the high and I seen
- 43:20where he came from and have watched Tennessee over the last
- 43:24couple of years. And I was like, now we starting
- 43:27to, you know, we didn't go get somebody from Spokane, WA to
- 43:33come over here and talk to people.
- 43:35You know what I'm saying? You.
- 43:37Want to get somebody who kind of at least knows the area.
- 43:40You know, Tennessee's close to Virginia.
- 43:43Hey, I need you to go do your job and grew up in Roanoke, so
- 43:46definitely knows the area. Thank you, Curtis.
- 43:48So you know, things like that, man, you got to be able to, I
- 43:52kept saying, and this is and this is hard for a coach, the
- 43:57coach can't do all this stuff that needs to be done.
- 44:00You got to have these positions filled by people who want to go
- 44:05out and be successful because you need that coach to coach.
- 44:09The coach has to be the figurehead of the program, but
- 44:13you need that coach to coach. So the things like this that
- 44:16we're actually going out and getting and they talking about
- 44:19going and getting the GM and things like that, you got to
- 44:23have that. If you want to have a big.
- 44:25Boy program man, you got to have them positions field so when you
- 44:29get the game day you ain't fucking losing by 1.16 out of 17
- 44:35times. Let's talk about the other
- 44:37thing. Win 8.
- 44:38Out of win 8 out of 16. Time give me 1/2 of them Yeah.
- 44:42And the other thing about the. Money and and this goes back to
- 44:45kind of the wit Babcock situation.
- 44:47So you got the one thing with the money is that Curtis talked
- 44:50about OK, well you get a win, you get this money now people
- 44:53are going to be more willing to part part with it.
- 44:56The other part about people being a little more willing to
- 44:58start giving money again is that football as a whole is.
- 45:03No longer in. The hands of wit Babcock.
- 45:06Nope. So.
- 45:08There was a. Lot of apprehension, not only
- 45:10just because of the coaching situation, not just because of
- 45:12the performance on the field, but because Whit Babcock was the
- 45:17ringleader of the all the shenanigans that got us here,
- 45:20right? He is not going to be a part of
- 45:23that puzzle anymore. So I don't think he's going to
- 45:27be part of the whole program. In general, regardless,
- 45:29regardless of whether he. Stays on in any capacity.
- 45:32He's going to be hands off more or less on the football side of
- 45:34things. So I think that's going to give
- 45:37people a little less apprehension when it comes to to
- 45:41giving. And then you start making see
- 45:43these other moves to kind of build up the Hokie Club and move
- 45:49away from that kind of mom and pop aspect of OK, well, you
- 45:52know, we'll hit this goal. We'll hit that goal.
- 45:56At some point. You got to get the people that
- 45:58have the money to move off and write the big checks.
- 46:00And it can't just be Mahul or a couple other guys every few
- 46:04years. It's got to be across the board,
- 46:07so I'm excited to see what they do with that 100%.
- 46:11All right. Real quick, I just want to
- 46:13mention this. I'm sure everybody's paying
- 46:14attention to it. Along with us having the open
- 46:17vacancy, there are now 5, four other schools that are out
- 46:21there, Stanford, which that's going to be a special coach that
- 46:25takes that job. Don't even question it.
- 46:27UCLA, Oklahoma State and Arkansas and from the.
- 46:31Sounds of. Arkansas in UCLA, they ain't got
- 46:39no money to spend. And everybody's like, well,
- 46:41they're getting paid so much. But I think what's happened over
- 46:44the last decade is some of these schools got overzealous and
- 46:48spent way too much money on dumb shit.
- 46:51And now it is a crucial time to have money to be able to spend,
- 46:56and they don't have money to spend.
- 46:57So as much as that we can say we don't like Whip, we can say a
- 47:02lot bad stuff about him. The one thing he did is he kept
- 47:05us out of debt, which really probably for the next four to
- 47:07five years we can take on debt as it comes to this crucial
- 47:12time. Well, it's.
- 47:14It's it's good to. Work be in a situation where you
- 47:17can take on debt while you're also raising your overall budget
- 47:20in the process. So you're, you're letting
- 47:25letting good money go after the bad money in this case to, to
- 47:28really double up what you're trying to do from a funding
- 47:31standpoint. So that's working in tandem at
- 47:34the same time. Yeah, I think the big thing is
- 47:37that we got to get this GM Hireright, we got to get this
- 47:39coaching Hireright at we're at a point where this has to be a
- 47:42slam dunk. And and that's really where my
- 47:45concern is going to be is can we get these, these aspects, these
- 47:49pieces of the puzzle correct? Because if we don't, then what
- 47:54goodwill that this is is generating, you know, two to
- 47:59three years down the road, we might be back in the same place
- 48:01of saying, well, we got the higher wrong.
- 48:03We screwed this up. We screwed that up.
- 48:05If you're not getting a return on the investment, at some point
- 48:07people are going to start balking at you.
- 48:10True. Quick question.
- 48:12Quick question. We ain't going to.
- 48:14Talk a whole bunch about HEAD. Coach, But I do want to say
- 48:18this. What's the number of wins that
- 48:23money has to have to be considered for the next Virginia
- 48:28Tech head coach? He's got to go to Charlotte.
- 48:32ACC got to go to we got. To go to if he goes to the ACC
- 48:36Championship. Game and they reel off 9
- 48:38straight wins. You have to give it to him and
- 48:41as much as that'll piss some people off, say we want a bigger
- 48:43name, like he just won nine straight games and got you to
- 48:47Charlotte. What if he?
- 48:49Wins. What if he is the number?
- 48:51But I think Charlotte is. Definitely the caveat Tally.
- 48:53I'll let you go ahead. Sorry about that.
- 48:55No, you did. I was just going to say.
- 48:57What if he just gets you to a ball game?
- 48:59What if he wins six games? Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope.
- 49:02We. Went there, nine wins showed
- 49:04something. Nine win is a massive step up
- 49:06because we were talking about this year probably 1-8 or nine.
- 49:09He probably kept his job for a couple more years, yeah.
- 49:14And The thing is the back half of that.
- 49:16Schedule don't look pretty, so we'll see.
- 49:20We'll see how we got to win. At least three in October to
- 49:24have any, any sort of chance at a bowl it is.
- 49:31Going to be. Tough.
- 49:33All right. Real quick, let's let's go to
- 49:37our keys and our predictions for the game this weekend.
- 49:40I'll, I'll leave this off because Cameron said it earlier.
- 49:43It it's all about our Reds on defense versus our Reds on
- 49:46offense. I think whoever wins that wins
- 49:49this game. They aren't good.
- 49:51We aren't good. Something's got to break so.
- 49:56That's me. Like look.
- 49:58At the end, if if they they got down there three, they got down
- 50:02there five times and they scored five times, we lose.
- 50:06If they got down there five times and they've been keeping
- 50:08their average, which is scoring 3, we probably take the win.
- 50:14I think the big thing is just don't let them in.
- 50:15That area all together. Don't.
- 50:19Let them get down there, man. You can only score so many, so
- 50:23many points by putting them in the end zone if you only get
- 50:26down there two or three times. So keep them, keep them out of
- 50:29our side, get the ball back. Hopefully we can control that
- 50:33time of time of possession with the run game, with the short
- 50:36passing game. And you know, hopefully we do a
- 50:39little bit better of converting some of those red zone
- 50:41opportunities ourselves. I think.
- 50:47The key is. Just living in.
- 50:48Turnovers, you know, definitely watching your turnovers A-Team,
- 50:52like Wake is going to kind of feed on that, you know, coming
- 50:56in, feed on that energy if you turn the ball over and you got
- 50:59to get Kyrie's. Stat line probably needs to.
- 51:04Be about, you know, 202, twenty passing yards and give me about
- 51:1150 rushing yards. That's what his stat line got to
- 51:14look like. Again, you got to use him for
- 51:16how he's needs to be used. You got to have a rushing game
- 51:19behind him too. But on those 50 yards he has to
- 51:24set that tone similar to what he did.
- 51:27It was times when he was taking on 2/3 defenders, getting the
- 51:31tough yards and then you come with a running back doing the
- 51:33same thing. You got to be able to just set
- 51:36that tone. I think Derek just said it set
- 51:39the tone to start the game. You know, we're not a finesse
- 51:42team. I don't think Virginia Tech will
- 51:44ever be a finesse team. No matter if they hire Cliff
- 51:49Kingsbury in here, if they hire Lincoln Riley, I think Virginia
- 51:53Tech always is going to be more of a lunch pail.
- 51:58Team. You just got to go get some
- 52:00tough yards. So if that's your identity, feed
- 52:04into your identity. Let's go again this week.
- 52:08Like I said, use Kyrenheit needs to be used.
- 52:12Limit them turnovers. I think we're good.
- 52:14All right. Brian Siegler.
- 52:18They they broke what that you said until we went A1 score.
- 52:22I said it until until we beat APAP 4.
- 52:25Opponent in A1 score game I was going to pick against them.
- 52:29Damn it, they got you not. I'm not picking against the
- 52:32Hokies. This week and I hopefully I
- 52:33don't jinx them but give me 2721 Hokies.
- 52:39Oh wow, another one. Score win.
- 52:41Tally, I'm going. To.
- 52:45Pick against the Hokies, even though I have a little bit of
- 52:48confidence, I'm going to give the edge to wait just because I
- 52:53need to see the consistency. The last time I seen US against
- 52:58a competent team in lane, I didn't like it.
- 53:03You know, no disrespect to to to Walford, but I don't think
- 53:07nobody thought we would lose the wafford, no matter how bad it
- 53:10was. But I just need to see some.
- 53:14Consistency. I need to see where we just
- 53:16playing off of the emotions and now you have some expectations
- 53:21you are favorite to win this game.
- 53:25How every time we get some kind of expectations, we fold it as
- 53:30over the last couple of weeks. I meant last couple of years.
- 53:33I need to see what you do. So I'm going to pick against the
- 53:36Hokies. I'm going to say it'll be a
- 53:37close game, but wait takes it. Alex stole my Thunder.
- 53:43I was going to say almost. Exactly what you were saying
- 53:46because I need them to prove it to me again.
- 53:48I'm going to take wait for it in this game 2723.
- 53:54Heartbreaker man, I'm the only. One riding with the Hokies.
- 53:57Man, you're the only one riding with them.
- 53:59You know how they needed to prove it to you.
- 54:01They got to prove it to us. If they can do it on our turf
- 54:05two in a row against the competent team, that's fair.
- 54:07That's fair, man. I got to say it, Curtis.
- 54:09I got to say it, I know. We got to get going, but I got
- 54:11to say it. You come out to that.
- 54:14Damn innocent. Man, please don't let the fans
- 54:17down. Don't let innocent man be the
- 54:20highlight of the freaking game. So tired of hearing about the
- 54:25entrance and then we go out and lose.
- 54:27Go out and take this game. Go out and get the fans.
- 54:32Prove us wrong, man. I know we can do it.
- 54:35Prove us wrong. Don't let.
- 54:36That don't let the. Entrance be the highlight of the
- 54:39game. That's all I'm asking.
- 54:41All right, there we go. Yep, and you're right, Derek.
- 54:43Fans need to win. All right, so last weekend was a
- 54:49hell of a weekend for sports, hell of a weekend for college
- 54:51football. This weekend it took a little
- 54:54bit of prime to figure out what game we were taking because it
- 54:57the slate one was good. Also, if you had gotten smart
- 55:01the last two weekends and faded everything me and Brian decided
- 55:05to do, you'd have a lot of damn money in your pocket right now
- 55:08because we are Owen 8. It's rough, but the worst.
- 55:14The worst part of that is. We were at. 500 and then the
- 55:18last two weeks have just snowballed into hell for us.
- 55:23We can't pick them for worth a damn so yeah, if y'all are
- 55:26watching this out there, feel free to go ahead and just just
- 55:29make a card fade and everything we got here and you know I think
- 55:35you'll be in be in good shape all right I'll.
- 55:39Kick us off, Brian, the first fade and this is the game I
- 55:42picked because I should be back from baseball by the time this
- 55:45one kicks off. We got Michigan State, Nebraska,
- 55:49Nebraska laying 11 1/2 points. I got to say something.
- 55:55I feel for. Nebraska, because I watched a
- 55:57good bit of that Michigan game. They should have beat Michigan.
- 56:00I'm sorry. They should have beat Michigan.
- 56:03And I believe I saw Michigan State, USC the other weekend and
- 56:09just Michigan. State's kind of just floating.
- 56:13They had what was his name for all those years?
- 56:17Not John L Smith. Y'all know what I'm talking
- 56:21about? Old crusty.
- 56:23Guy, Yeah, the playoffs went to multiple.
- 56:26I mean, he looked probably a hell of a football coach that's
- 56:29probably looked old, old and crusty.
- 56:32But in this case, fade me. I want to lay 11 1/2.
- 56:37Nebraska wins by 17, All right? Yeah, click your button, Brian.
- 56:45I did. It's delayed Shelton, who's not
- 56:48here tonight because he had to do some play by play action.
- 56:52He also rides with us Tally. I got to go to Nebraska, man.
- 56:59I ain't heard about freaking Michigan State for 10 years.
- 57:05Thank you. Yeah, D'antonio.
- 57:06D'antonio, Mark. D'antonio, Mark.
- 57:09D'antonio. Ron, I'm riding with Nebraska as
- 57:13well, I think. They're probably, I mean
- 57:16Michigan State, like you said, they're just kind of they're
- 57:18kind of hovering at this point. I don't really know what they're
- 57:20if they're ever going to kind of take that step back into that,
- 57:25you know, mid to. Upper echelon.
- 57:27Of the of the conference kind of reminds me a little bit of
- 57:31another team. I know unfortunately.
- 57:36But yeah, I think they're they're at a crossroads as well.
- 57:39At least I I see some some juice and some movement on our end.
- 57:43I think the brass is going to take this one All right next.
- 57:47Game. This is Tally's pick.
- 57:51Yeah, man. The Cavaliers showed me a very
- 57:56interesting game on Friday last week, so I thought they deserve
- 58:00to be on big screeners again this this week.
- 58:03But I am taking, I'm taking. Excuse me, Louisville on this
- 58:08guy Kylie Land, the seven and a. Half I'm.
- 58:14I'm gonna go ahead and. Jump in here, I mean.
- 58:18I am picking UVA in the capacity that I don't think it will be
- 58:22more than a 77 point game. I think that Louisville ends up
- 58:25closing this game out, but it is closer than that, 7 1/2.
- 58:29So give me the Cavs. I'm similarly I don't know
- 58:34who's. Going to win this game, but I
- 58:35think 7 1/2 was just a little bit too much.
- 58:38Although I think Cali, I think your head, I think Cali's head
- 58:41is saying they just had literally their biggest win
- 58:44since 2019. Probably program wise, it's
- 58:50probably their second or third biggest win of all time.
- 58:52Can they handle the emotion going on the road to a tough
- 58:55environment and they quarterback was trying to they quarterback?
- 58:59Was trying to give Florida State the game, and Florida State's
- 59:02quarterback was trying to give it back to him.
- 59:05Take it, I don't want. It take it I don't want.
- 59:07It take it nobody landed that game.
- 59:11That's what it felt, yeah. Sheldon is riding with you
- 59:13Tally, which is probably smart, giving me and Curtis's track
- 59:17record the last couple weeks I think.
- 59:20There's a, there's a, there's a. Theme here y'all, y'all pay
- 59:22attention to what Shelton's doing.
- 59:25All right, next. 1. This is Shelton.
- 59:30Shelton picked Miami FL State massive game was going to should
- 59:37have been more massive but Florida State couldn't figure
- 59:40out how to be Eva Shelton is on this one and he is taking the UG
- 59:46later 4 1/2 tally. What about you man?
- 59:50I got to go to you, man. That defensive line, offensive
- 59:54line too. Trenches look ridiculous for
- 59:58Miami. I don't know if they win at all.
- 1:00:00I don't know what they do this year, but from what I've seen in
- 1:00:03the they offensive defensive line, I think they are going to
- 1:00:07probably beat Florida State by about 14 points.
- 1:00:13I'm not quite on that. 14 but I think a 10 point curve could be
- 1:00:19in play here. This is probably the best top to
- 1:00:22bottom and and coached Miami that we've seen in maybe 25
- 1:00:30years in terms of just talent in in a lot of different places,
- 1:00:37talent where it needs to be. Coaching, that is.
- 1:00:42Fairly consistent. They don't, they don't hurt
- 1:00:45themselves as much. So we'll we'll see if we'll get
- 1:00:47the classic Miami blunder at some point down the stretch in
- 1:00:51this season. Hopefully it is, you know, at at
- 1:00:54our expense there. So, but in the interim, I think
- 1:00:58Miami takes care of business against Florida State.
- 1:01:02I'm going. Opposite of all.
- 1:01:04Three of y'all I think Florida State was looking forward to
- 1:01:08this game last Friday night because if you looked.
- 1:01:13At everything. That they they had the ball in
- 1:01:16the red zone 3 three more times then UVA.
- 1:01:21They came away with 0 points out of it.
- 1:01:24That was the game. I think they locked in and
- 1:01:26focus. I think I'll pick a home
- 1:01:28favorite or a home with points. I don't know who's going to win
- 1:01:31this game. I think it's going to be
- 1:01:33entertaining as hell though. Give me Florida State, give me 4
- 1:01:361/2 points. There we go, man.
- 1:01:39All right. Last one is you, Brian.
- 1:01:42Oh, Jeezy. Hey, man.
- 1:01:44Hey, man. Hey.
- 1:01:45Man, Bama hosting the The Commodores, man, I feel like
- 1:01:51with, with our match up against Vanderbilt the last two years,
- 1:01:54we, we've put Vandy on here probably more than then maybe we
- 1:02:00should have. But I think with with what
- 1:02:04they've done there with with with bringing in Jerry Kill and
- 1:02:07Diego Pavia, that's a team that is dangerous every week and they
- 1:02:12play in the SEC so. With that being.
- 1:02:16Said Bama is -10 1/2 at home. I'm taking Vanderbilt, yeah.
- 1:02:22I think this is going to come down to the wire.
- 1:02:24I don't think it's going to be like a three, three-point game
- 1:02:26or anything, but I think it's going to be about A1 touchdown
- 1:02:29game. I think Bama closes about late,
- 1:02:31but you know Vandy will cover there.
- 1:02:34Yeah, this is another one I don't.
- 1:02:35Know who's going to win? But 10 1/2 is way too much to
- 1:02:38lay Alabama, especially coming off that win down in Athens last
- 1:02:44week. The the question is, can Kaylin
- 1:02:47Devore straighten them out? To get off of that and know
- 1:02:51Vandy is like Vandy's for real, they're going to throw funky
- 1:02:54stuff at you both ways. 10 1/2 is just not enough.
- 1:02:58Also fuck Diego Pavia, that little bastard's trying to get
- 1:03:02like a ninth year of eligibility.
- 1:03:03Be like, motherfucker, you were like 26 years old, get a job.
- 1:03:11Go throw in something, by the way, football.
- 1:03:14Van Wilder, baby Van Wilder, Shelton said.
- 1:03:18Tally Shelton's riding with Bandy.
- 1:03:20By the way, Tally. Was the only one who took
- 1:03:23Alabama last week. He got that win because I know
- 1:03:28you, you amongst them down there, man.
- 1:03:31I just, I just felt it, man. I.
- 1:03:33Think that Alabama wins this game, but I think it's going to
- 1:03:35be closer than 10 1/2, maybe 10. The hook threw me off the hook,
- 1:03:42Yeah, threw me off a. Little bit, but I'll.
- 1:03:44Say Vandy's about to have a gauntlet of a schedule, man, you
- 1:03:48know, they are about to get into some, you know, LSU, Missouri,
- 1:03:53Texas, Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee.
- 1:03:57So from here on out, their schedule is going to look a lot
- 1:04:01different than it has looked. I think that that's going to
- 1:04:04keep them in the game because you got Alabama coming off of
- 1:04:07playing Georgia coming into the game.
- 1:04:12Maybe underestimate them a little bit.
- 1:04:15But at the same time, I do think Alabama will lock in and win
- 1:04:18this game. But I think it's going to be
- 1:04:20closer than what the spread is. So I took that in.
- 1:04:23All right, there we go. All right.
- 1:04:26So we got that up there, all of our kits.
- 1:04:30Is there any anything happening in the last?
- 1:04:35Well, the one thing I know is today y'all follow John
- 1:04:37Rothstein? Yeah, he was.
- 1:04:40He was. At he was at tech today, Yeah.
- 1:04:43Did you see the video? I did not go look at the video.
- 1:04:48Demands this, he thinks we can get back in the tournament this
- 1:04:50year. All right, all.
- 1:04:52Right, not my words, I saw. The.
- 1:04:55I. I saw the highlight you're
- 1:04:57talking about Neo, you talk about him being a better shooter
- 1:05:02than Igor Damon with with BYU. He's he's he's very high on Neo
- 1:05:08at this point. So we'll see if if all those
- 1:05:11pieces can come into place with with the talent that was left on
- 1:05:15the roster with some of the moves we made this this
- 1:05:17offseason. I'm really excited about this
- 1:05:19basketball team, probably as excited as I've been in a few
- 1:05:21years. So excited to see if they can
- 1:05:25put it on the floor there. It's going to be a really good,
- 1:05:27really good year, I think in Blacksburg for the for the
- 1:05:30Hoagies basketball team. Absolutely.
- 1:05:32I think we. Brian, I think we might need to.
- 1:05:34Find us a game and go to this year, man, we haven't been to a
- 1:05:37basketball game together. Binding to find one dog.
- 1:05:40Yeah, they've got to be pretty cool.
- 1:05:43Well, you know what still would come with you?
- 1:05:45In a heartbeat. All right, get up.
- 1:05:47Get up with Phil, man. See if he'll let.
- 1:05:49Me stay at moments of the MAR, you know, then head to a
- 1:05:51basketball game. I think that'd be pretty cool.
- 1:05:54Phil loves basketball, man. He.
- 1:05:56I. Mean about 98% sure he's going
- 1:05:59down to the Bahamas for the that tournament this year.
- 1:06:04Yeah, I'm about to reach out to him.
- 1:06:05And if he does, he he. Said if I go, I'm going to do a
- 1:06:08live remote from the Bahamas. OK.
- 1:06:11OK. We'll see.
- 1:06:13All right, nothing. Else breaking down.
