- 0:01The president would not pardon or commute the sense for his son
- 0:05Hunter. I just want to make sure that
- 0:06that is not going to change over the next six months.
- 0:08The President's. Saying it's still.
- 0:10It's still a. No, it's still a.
- 0:12No, it's. Still a no.
- 0:14It will be a no. It is a no, and I don't have
- 0:17anything else to add. Will he pardon his son?
- 0:19No. This is plausibly live, the
- 0:23official podcast at the Dave Bowman Show.
- 0:27Well, good evening, Mr. and Misses America, all the ships at
- 0:30sea. It's me, Dave.
- 0:33Normally I don't do this. Normally I don't go for the
- 0:36instant reaction podcast. But I got to be honest with you,
- 0:42this one was kind of instituted by my wife, whom I love dearly,
- 0:48who was well, more than a little upset about what happened today
- 0:56and tried to calm her down, but didn't, didn't go very far
- 1:01before she went to work. Look, the pardon power exists.
- 1:07It's part of the Constitution. Whether we agree with it, like
- 1:11it, dislike it, really not the relevant issue.
- 1:15The fact is it exists. The fact is it has existed since
- 1:19it was ratified and presidents have used it or misused it since
- 1:25then. Yes, it was intended to be an
- 1:28act of mercy, but like impeachment, it's become a
- 1:33political act. It's the way it is.
- 1:37The president said that he would never pardon his son.
- 1:40He was not going to pardon his son.
- 1:43Cream Jean Pierre Paul said, no, he's not going to pardon him.
- 1:49And everybody's upset. You can get upset about it like
- 1:52my wife. You can get give yourself
- 1:54heartburn over it or you could understand 3 basic things #1
- 2:03listen to me carefully. Press statements are not
- 2:08delivered underoath. I don't care if it's the
- 2:11president sitting down with the press or the press secretary.
- 2:16It's not testimony. You can't charge them with
- 2:20perjury. Press statements are not
- 2:24delivered underoath #2 particularly when it comes to
- 2:28the press secretary. She can only, she, or he, as the
- 2:32case may be, can only repeat what they've been told.
- 2:39I guarantee you that what she was told was the president will
- 2:44not be pardoning his son, period.
- 2:47That's what she has. All that notebook thing, that
- 2:50one sentence is in there. The president will not be
- 2:53pardoning his son. She's not Privy to the actual
- 2:57discussions. She doesn't know what's actually
- 3:00going on because she's the press secretary.
- 3:04She's not anybody of any importance whatsoever.
- 3:08For the love of God, I don't know why people watch these
- 3:11press briefings. I really don't.
- 3:14Press secretaries, Their job is to deflect.
- 3:19That's it. Distract and deflect.
- 3:22And the better they are at that, the better they are as press
- 3:25secretaries. You could say what you want
- 3:28about whether you think that they're liars or whatever.
- 3:31They're just repeating what they know, what they've been told.
- 3:34They're just doing their job. And by being distracted by it,
- 3:39by it, you're letting them do their job.
- 3:44Number 3, and this is, this might be most important.
- 3:50Everybody knew that Joe Biden was going to pardon Hunter.
- 3:54Everybody this was this was never in doubt.
- 3:59Every time he said he wasn't going to, you knew he was lying.
- 4:03Every time the Express secretary said he wasn't going to, you
- 4:07knew it was a lie. We all knew that someday the
- 4:12pardon would happen. We're going to learn in the
- 4:16coming years that this pardon was part of the deal for him to
- 4:20step down. I guarantee you we will learn
- 4:22that it will come out that as part of the process of him
- 4:27agreeing to step aside, I get to pardon my son.
- 4:33And we talked about this certainly on what the frock.
- 4:36We talked about the fact that it would happen after the election
- 4:40because if Harris won, it wouldn't matter.
- 4:44Would there would be no political impact from it.
- 4:46And if she lost, who cares? We're we're leaving anyway.
- 4:51There's no there's no political drawback to it.
- 4:54It will become clear to us that this was part of that agreement
- 5:03for him to step aside. You know it.
- 5:05I know it. We all know it.
- 5:07Can we prove it? No.
- 5:10But sometimes, sometimes 2 + 2 does equal 4.
- 5:15And this was pretty obvious. You can get up tomorrow.
- 5:20And like, we all went to watch The View the day after the
- 5:23election because we wanted to see the meltdown.
- 5:25You can turn into the press secretary's press conference
- 5:30there fully expecting her to be eviscerated.
- 5:34Not going to happen, folks. Write this down.
- 5:37It's not going to happen. Why?
- 5:40Because what she's been told and what you are now being told by
- 5:44the president is he had to pardon him.
- 5:48Did did you actually read the pardon?
- 5:50Did you read the statement? The president's position is he
- 5:56had to pardon Hunter and it's the Republicans fault that he
- 6:01had to do it. And so her answers tomorrow are
- 6:04going to be exactly that. We didn't want to do it.
- 6:08We weren't planning to do it. The Republicans made us do it.
- 6:12The actual words in his statement, he talks about the
- 6:18fact that there was a plea deal and that the plea deal fell
- 6:20apart. But the plea deal would have
- 6:21been fair. But because Republicans took
- 6:25credit for smashing up the plea deal, they had to.
- 6:29They had to do this. His exact quote.
- 6:32No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter's case
- 6:36can reach any other conclusion. Then Hunter was singled out
- 6:39because only because he is my son, and that is wrong.
- 6:45There's been an effort to break Hunter, who for 5 1/2 years,
- 6:48who's been sober for 5 1/2 years, even in the face of
- 6:51unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution in trying
- 6:56to break Hunter, they were trying to break me.
- 6:58And there's no reason to believe it will stop here.
- 7:00Enough is enough. He will tell you and Corrine
- 7:04Jean Pierre Paul tomorrow will tell you that he had to pardon
- 7:08Hunter because it's the Republicans fault.
- 7:13And you can spend tomorrow, Monday, rest of the week getting
- 7:17upset about it. You can, you can play all the
- 7:19clips you want about Korean Jean Pierre Paul lying and the
- 7:22president lying, but they don't see it that way.
- 7:26They see it as. You made me do it.
- 7:29The devil made me do it. Flip Wilson all over again.
- 7:35That's what they believe and that's what they're going to
- 7:37tell you. And if you try to argue with
- 7:39them, that's what you're going to get.
- 7:41Well, you made us do it. We don't want to do it.
- 7:44You made us do it. And you can get upset about that
- 7:47and you can get all hyper about it, or you could understand that
- 7:52this was always going to happen. Should they have been more
- 7:55upfront about it? Probably.
- 7:57But that's not the way our political system works.
- 8:00And press statements are not delivered underoath.
- 8:03So they weren't lies, certainly weren't perjury, not in the way
- 8:10that we want to look at it. I mean, they are lies, but
- 8:13they're political lies, right? They don't really mean anything
- 8:15because we all knew that they were lies.
- 8:18We all knew that the deal was he would pardon them and step
- 8:23aside. Mickey Rivers used to say there
- 8:27ain't no sense in worrying about the things you got control over
- 8:29because you got control over. Ain't no sense in worrying about
- 8:32things you don't have any control over because you don't
- 8:35even control them. And that's kind of the approach
- 8:37I think we need to take here. We all knew that this was
- 8:40coming. We can laugh about it, make fun
- 8:44of them about it. But believe me, their argument
- 8:46is you made me do it. And no matter how you look at
- 8:50it, none of us had any control over it.
- 8:53So there's no sense in worrying about it.
- 9:24The.
