- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's go to Clemson and Florida State in the ACC.
- 0:05Speaker 1: This is presented by PrizePix. Florida State comes in with
- 0:09Speaker 1: a losing record at 3-4. Clemson comes in with a
- 0:12Speaker 1: winning record at 4-3. However, the Seminoles are favored by
- 0:15Speaker 1: about a touchdown in this game. I will toss it
- 0:18Speaker 1: up to whoever wants it. I've shared my thoughts on
- 0:20Speaker 1: this a few times, but what questions do you guys have?
- 0:22Speaker 1: What thoughts do you guys have on the Seminoles and Tigers?
- 0:29Speaker 2: Is this just a game of who sucks less.
- 0:32Speaker 3: To a degree?
- 0:33Speaker 2: Yeah, probably like it's the old adage of football, like
- 0:37Speaker 2: whoever makes the least mistakes wins.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:40Speaker 2: What if both teams are capable of making a lot
- 0:43Speaker 2: of mistakes and there's a lot of penalties because these
- 0:46Speaker 2: are two teams that have struggled with that throughout the season.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I give credit to Florida state having this game at home.
- 0:53Speaker 2: You played Miami real tight into overtime, which surprised a
- 0:57Speaker 2: lot of people. But there's these high-end peaks like the
- 1:00Speaker 2: first half against Alabama and the aforementioned Miami game that
- 1:04Speaker 2: make you look at Florida State and be like, oh,
- 1:06Speaker 2: they could be feisty all of a sudden. And then
- 1:09Speaker 2: there's these low-end performances that really make you scratch your head. Clemson, meanwhile,
- 1:15Speaker 2: does this feel like just a dead team walking at
- 1:18Speaker 2: this point? Guys, I said in the offseason with this team,
- 1:22Speaker 2: I was like, I hate this quarterback room. And it's
- 1:24Speaker 2: not good with Tate Reynolds. I don't think with Vazina
- 1:28Speaker 2: it's any better. This is just who Clemson is this season.
- 1:32Speaker 2: There's NFL talent. This is kind of similar to the
- 1:35Speaker 2: Ohio State. How does Fahey get the ball to Jeremiah Smith?
- 1:39Speaker 2: How does any quarterback at Clemson get the ball to
- 1:41Speaker 2: Wesco or Moore when those guys are clearly NFL talents
- 1:44Speaker 2: and are just being wasted at this point in time?
- 1:48Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:49Speaker 2: It feels like two teams in an exercise in futility,
- 1:53Speaker 2: but I don't know. This game being in Tallahassee, I
- 1:57Speaker 2: think could tip it.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Cole, I don't know what you think.
- 2:00Speaker 2: This is a weird one.
- 2:02Speaker 4: The status at the very beginning of the game is
- 2:03Speaker 4: the reason how Clemson will have to win this. Defense,
- 2:06Speaker 4: special teams, defense, special teams, defense, special teams. TJ, I
- 2:10Speaker 4: want your opinion on this before I say, and I
- 2:12Speaker 4: sound stupid.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Fire Mike Norvell. Well, yes.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Not that. Not that. Not that.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I thought that's what you were asking.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Not that.
- 2:19Speaker 2: No.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Do you include the interception in the double overtime game
- 2:23Speaker 4: against Miami against Ashton Daniels?
- 2:26Speaker 2: No.
- 2:27Speaker 4: No.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Just want to make sure. Can I add a little
- 2:29Speaker 3: more context too?
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I think a lot of his intercept, he's had two
- 2:33Speaker 1: that were tipped, which tipped interceptions happen.
- 2:35Speaker 3: He's not the only quarterback to have that. And in
- 2:37Speaker 3: the Bama game, one was tipped.
- 2:40Speaker 1: One was down two scores with two minutes to go.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And then one was just a terrible read. So like his,
- 2:46Speaker 1: his interception, like, I'm not trying to do like the,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I saw an article when Jameis threw 30, like broke
- 2:51Speaker 1: them down and they were like, Oh, 14 of them
- 2:53Speaker 1: weren't his fault. And I was like, I love that guy,
- 2:55Speaker 1: but I'm not trying to do that. But like, I,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I think a lot of his interceptions would be been because,
- 3:01Speaker 1: you know, they're not really. So yeah, no, I don't,
- 3:04Speaker 1: I don't, the Miami one's fine.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Fourth and 20 something. And you're just throwing a Hail
- 3:08Speaker 1: Mary in the end zone. Like I have no problems
- 3:10Speaker 1: with that.
- 3:11Speaker 3: And I don't know. even convinced it wasn't interception, but.
- 3:16Speaker 4: The point is, is that if you take out that
- 3:17Speaker 4: interception and the game against SMU, he has had at
- 3:20Speaker 4: least one turnover per game. So that's just the bottom line,
- 3:22Speaker 4: whether it be a tip ball, whether it be throwing
- 3:24Speaker 4: in a double coverage, he's had an interception every single game.
- 3:27Speaker 4: So for Clemson in this one, with Ashton Hampton, with
- 3:30Speaker 4: what they got in their secondary, how they can win
- 3:31Speaker 4: with some blitz packages, they need to pressure Ashton Daniels
- 3:34Speaker 4: to throw or overthrow his target. Whether it be Halsey,
- 3:37Speaker 4: whether it be Deuce Robinson, you've got to overthrow your
- 3:42Speaker 4: target to find an open defensive back to make a
- 3:45Speaker 4: play and get short field position for the offense. The
- 3:48Speaker 4: problem is that I just don't know if you can
- 3:50Speaker 4: get anything going with your offense in this game either. Again,
- 3:53Speaker 4: Tate Reynolds, going into last week, had one passing touchdown. Combined,
- 3:58Speaker 4: I believe if I'm not mistaken, Clemson had three passing
- 4:01Speaker 4: touchdowns on the year. And you still have really good
- 4:03Speaker 4: wide receivers and more in Wesco that can get on
- 4:05Speaker 4: open and make plays. But Florida State's secondary, when it
- 4:10Speaker 4: wants to play well, it can. It can create opportunities.
- 4:13Speaker 4: It can create situations. They know how to blitz really
- 4:17Speaker 4: well at times and get pressure on a quarterback into
- 4:19Speaker 4: making mistakes. So it's like, for me, this game is
- 4:22Speaker 4: going to come down to, can you force Ashton Daniels
- 4:25Speaker 4: to make mistakes and give you short field position? And
- 4:29Speaker 4: if you're Clemson, getting short field position, not doing anything
- 4:32Speaker 4: that will shoot yourself in the foot and take you
- 4:34Speaker 4: out of field goal range to where you can at
- 4:35Speaker 4: least walk away with positive points. Because if you're asking
- 4:38Speaker 4: me right now, even when you have your questions of
- 4:40Speaker 4: this team, which by the way, Florida State's offense has
- 4:43Speaker 4: not been as big as a problem as I think
- 4:44Speaker 4: that we all thought going into the year. Now, what
- 4:46Speaker 4: they do in the running back position now with two
- 4:48Speaker 4: of their guys out for the rest of the season,
- 4:50Speaker 4: it's a big deal. But regardless, it's been better than
- 4:53Speaker 4: advertised with Mike Norvell calling plays in moments. If you're
- 4:57Speaker 4: asking me which team do I trust to go down
- 4:59Speaker 4: the field in 75 yards and at least walk away
- 5:01Speaker 4: with three points, it's going to be Florida State. So
- 5:05Speaker 4: you need to be able to get as much short
- 5:07Speaker 4: field position to set up field goals, and maybe you
- 5:10Speaker 4: get a couple of breakaway runs from Davison, or you
- 5:13Speaker 4: get one pass that goes off to Wesco, and it's
- 5:16Speaker 4: the short game that turns into a 40-yard house call.
- 5:20Speaker 4: That's the way that Clemson's going to win this game offensively,
- 5:22Speaker 4: with explosives and some sheer dumb luck, and really, really,
- 5:25Speaker 4: really short field position. So defensively, yeah, I think that
- 5:28Speaker 4: you're going to see Clemson showing up in this game.
- 5:30Speaker 4: But if you're getting a punt and you're starting at
- 5:33Speaker 4: the 20, I mean, you might as well just go
- 5:35Speaker 4: ahead and take three knees at that point. That way
- 5:37Speaker 4: you don't have a turnover and just give it right
- 5:39Speaker 4: back to Florida State.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I'll get right back to this clip of the power
- 5:42Speaker 1: too with Tom Hannafin and Cole Thompson here on the
- 5:44Speaker 1: College Football Addiction Network.
- 5:46Speaker 3: But first, we made all of these picks over on
- 5:48Speaker 3: the live show.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You can go check that out to see all the picks,
- 5:51Speaker 1: but I'll tell you right now what I like.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Jaden Ball, give me the more on his rushing total.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I think he can get over the 77.5. I think
- 5:58Speaker 1: Florida will need to establish the run for this game
- 6:00Speaker 1: to be competitive. I like Gunnar Stockton's passing touchdowns. Give
- 6:04Speaker 1: me the more on that 1.5. And then I love
- 6:07Speaker 1: the pairing of Jaden Ball's anytime touchdowns and Nate Frazier's
- 6:10Speaker 1: anytime touchdowns. Give me the more on both those pair,
- 6:13Speaker 1: two of those together, pair anything else you like in
- 6:16Speaker 1: this college football slates, weekends, upcoming lineups, and you've got
- 6:20Speaker 1: a lineup set. Use our code HMA, all new users
- 6:22Speaker 1: who play a $ 5 lineup and win their first $ 5 lineup,
- 6:26Speaker 1: get 150 lineups instantly over on the prize picks app.
- 6:29Speaker 1: We appreciate them for their support. Go check them out. I,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I struggle to see, you know, obviously I have all
- 6:34Speaker 1: the thoughts on like what's best for the program longterm.
- 6:36Speaker 1: But if we're just talking about the game specifically, I
- 6:38Speaker 1: feel like I have to preface this every week with
- 6:40Speaker 1: Florida state stuff. But if we're just talking about the
- 6:42Speaker 1: game specifically, I struggle to see a world where Clemson
- 6:45Speaker 1: can score 20 more than 24. And, and, and I'm
- 6:49Speaker 1: low on Florida state's defense. Like I don't think they're
- 6:52Speaker 1: very good.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 1: They gave up nine straight scoring drives to Bama in Tuscaloosa.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Home and away does matter, but then they were awful
- 7:02Speaker 1: against Louisville after those first two possessions. Gave up a
- 7:05Speaker 1: ton to Louisville on the road. Miami scored touchdowns on
- 7:09Speaker 1: four of their last five possessions. The only one they
- 7:11Speaker 1: didn't score on was the end of the half one
- 7:13Speaker 1: where they knew worst case that thing was going down.
- 7:15Speaker 3: To overtime if they didn't score.
- 7:17Speaker 1: So I think Miami kind of played that conservatively because
- 7:20Speaker 1: they knew they had house money and from the 25
- 7:22Speaker 1: yard line, Miami was not going to be stopped. So I,
- 7:26Speaker 1: I think that that's, do I trust? I mean, Florida state,
- 7:31Speaker 1: the Clemson defense has been really impressive. Clemson might be
- 7:37Speaker 1: as close to as good of a defense as.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Florida state has seen.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Um, yeah, at least as close to Alabama is when
- 7:45Speaker 4: I want to show.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Like Miami's defense is not, I don't think Miami's defense
- 7:49Speaker 1: in totality right now with their issues in the secondary
- 7:51Speaker 1: is as good as Clemson's and Bama's secondary was really
- 7:57Speaker 1: bad in that game too.
- 7:58Speaker 3: And so I like Clemson secondary.
- 8:01Speaker 1: So maybe Florida state doesn't get to 30, but I
- 8:04Speaker 1: have got some confidence in Florida's taking it to 28, 24.
- 8:08Speaker 1: If this game is played in the high teens, low 20s,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I think Clemson has a shot because Florida State's defense
- 8:13Speaker 1: will give up some plays.
- 8:15Speaker 3: But if this game gets up.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Over 24, 27, 28, I just don't know how Clemson
- 8:20Speaker 1: scores enough unless Florida State is giving them those opportunities,
- 8:25Speaker 1: the short fields, the things that Cole talked about. When
- 8:29Speaker 1: I was looking at the Miami game and the Bama game,
- 8:31Speaker 1: Florida state, big dogs in both. I said that Florida
- 8:33Speaker 1: state should just go for it and try, you know,
- 8:37Speaker 1: all everything else aside.
- 8:38Speaker 3: If you're trying to win that game, go for it. Attack.
- 8:41Speaker 1: If you make mistakes and you lose by 30 instead
- 8:43Speaker 1: of 20, so be it, man. At least you went
- 8:46Speaker 1: out and you let your, you know what, hang and
- 8:47Speaker 1: you went for it. I think the opposite is the
- 8:50Speaker 1: case in this one. I think Florida state should, I
- 8:53Speaker 1: don't want to say play conservatively, but let Clemson go
- 8:57Speaker 1: be the one to make the mistakes. Don't go out
- 8:59Speaker 1: and push things on this one. Like don't, don't, you
- 9:03Speaker 1: don't have to win this game in the first quarter
- 9:04Speaker 1: by going up 17, nothing. you probably did need to
- 9:07Speaker 1: go up 17, nothing against Bama in Miami and think,
- 9:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? Like you had to go
- 9:11Speaker 1: win those games. That's not the same case this week.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Their offense is not good enough, even though Florida state's
- 9:16Speaker 1: defense is, is.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Not great by any means. I would say it's poor, bad. Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I think you, you come out in this one and
- 9:24Speaker 1: you're okay with, with letting Clemson be the one to,
- 9:27Speaker 1: to eventually make the mistakes. So I do think Florida
- 9:30Speaker 1: state gets to 28 ish. I think it's a good game.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I think Clemson's probably around 20, I like the Noles
- 9:36Speaker 1: to win and the Noles to cover. So 28-20, Florida
- 9:40Speaker 1: State wins.
- 9:41Speaker 4: What's the spread on this game?
- 9:43Speaker 3: Six and a half, seven.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Six and a half, seven, okay.
- 9:46Speaker 3: I'll go quick.
- 9:49Speaker 4: I still respect Clemson's defense. Clemson's defense, I think, has
- 9:51Speaker 4: played really well. They gave the two touchdowns to Luke
- 9:54Speaker 4: Reynolds after finally getting tired on on drives uh last
- 9:57Speaker 4: week but like can any of you tell me how
- 10:00Speaker 4: like what was the longest drive for Clemson last.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Week the drive home I'm sure probably sorry.
- 10:10Speaker 4: There was one 65 yard drive yeah you had a
- 10:13Speaker 4: big time pass yeah you had a big time pass
- 10:14Speaker 4: from Reynolds you had one run from the touchdown run
- 10:18Speaker 4: from Reynolds I don't think they had a drive longer
- 10:21Speaker 4: than 50 yards the rest of the game besides that one.
- 10:24Speaker 4: So I still respect Clemson's defense, but I think that
- 10:28Speaker 4: Florida State's offense can do just enough, like just enough
- 10:31Speaker 4: to be able to get a touchdown late. I will
- 10:34Speaker 4: go 21 to 13. I think that this will be
- 10:37Speaker 4: low scoring until like the fourth quarter. And it's like 14, 13,
- 10:41Speaker 4: and then a late touchdown gets them to beat the
- 10:43Speaker 4: spread Florida State.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I am going to go 20-13 Clemson. I think Clemson
- 10:48Speaker 2: sells out to stop the run. Missing Croma is a
- 10:51Speaker 2: huge factor in this for Florida State. I think Wisner
- 10:54Speaker 2: is going to be able to help a little bit,
- 10:57Speaker 2: even without an explosive of 24 in the game against Miami.
- 11:01Speaker 2: He still averaged 4.8 yards per carry. If you deduct
- 11:04Speaker 2: that from his total, he can still be effective. But
- 11:06Speaker 2: if I'm Clemson, I'm making this be a situation where
- 11:10Speaker 2: Wisner and Daniels have to run the hell out of
- 11:12Speaker 2: the football efficiently. in order for Florida State to have
- 11:16Speaker 2: a chance. And then Clemson's ultimate goal is, let's just
- 11:19Speaker 2: put the game on Ashton Daniels. Let's make him throw
- 11:21Speaker 2: it 30, 40 times in this game. So I'm going
- 11:24Speaker 2: to go with Clemson.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Which I do think, to Tom's point, you talk about, yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 1: and I think Florida State has varying levels of confidence
- 11:33Speaker 1: for the game to be put on Daniels' shoulders.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Because it will be Jameis Winston-esque. It will be very
- 11:39Speaker 3: boom or bust.
- 11:40Speaker 1: He'll throw for 300 yards and rush for three touchdowns
- 11:43Speaker 1: because we don't have a running back.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Or he'll throw three picks and Clemson will win. You know,
- 11:47Speaker 3: like it's going to be one of those two. I,
- 11:50Speaker 3: as much as I'm not.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Happy with the take still, I think Daniels has been
- 11:54Speaker 1: much better than I expected this year. You know, all
- 11:57Speaker 1: things considered, if he can limit the turnovers, they'll have
- 12:00Speaker 1: a great chance. If not, who knows, but hopefully Tom's
- 12:03Speaker 1: right is the way that I would end it. Not
- 12:07Speaker 1: even Catholic, but let's go. I watched The Godfather this week,
- 12:10Speaker 1: by the way. I'm all in it.
- 12:12Speaker 3: You come to me on the day. Anyway, go ahead.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Is this the last time that we see Mike Norvell
- 12:17Speaker 4: and Davos Sweeney coach against each other? Because both are
- 12:24Speaker 4: out at the end of the year.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Out of an era. It's a distinct possibility.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I don't think Mike Norvell is getting fired because I
- 12:35Speaker 1: think they win this game and that's going to propel
- 12:37Speaker 1: him to 6-6 and the admin will keep him. Um, so,
- 12:41Speaker 1: and I think Clemson does win some games down the stretch,
- 12:43Speaker 1: although they, I guess they'd get to four and four today.
- 12:45Speaker 1: They win two games and then they could finish seven
- 12:48Speaker 1: and five. Cause I think they lose to South Carolina. Um, 30%,
- 12:55Speaker 1: I'll say 30% chance. Cause if the game happens in
- 12:57Speaker 1: November next year, then it could happen. You know, like
- 12:59Speaker 1: you could see a mid season thing.
- 13:01Speaker 3: So I'll say 30%.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I think it's more likely than not that they both
- 13:06Speaker 1: coach against each other again next year. Unless, unless Clemson
- 13:08Speaker 1: wins this year, then I think Mike's done.
- 13:12Speaker 4: I think that dabble steps down at the end of
- 13:13Speaker 4: the year.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Ooh, good question there for that.
