Mega Edition: Ghislaine Maxwell And Her Descent Into "Poverty" (9/9/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

0:00
Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
0:05
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell has enough trouble as it is, but now
0:09
Speaker 1: she's having trouble paying for her appeal because Scott Borgeson, well,
0:14
Speaker 1: he doesn't want to pay the bills. And we know
0:17
Speaker 1: that before she was arrested, before she ended up in prison,
0:20
Speaker 1: she tied all of her finances up with Scott Borgeson,
0:23
Speaker 1: who was her quote-unquote husband. And now that's all coming
0:28
Speaker 1: back to bite her in the ass. And to tell
0:31
Speaker 1: you the truth, it couldn't happen to a better person.
0:34
Speaker 1: I have zero remorse for Ghislaine Maxwell. I don't care
0:37
Speaker 1: if she can pay her bills. If she can't pay
0:39
Speaker 1: her bills, I don't care. If she can't afford it,
0:42
Speaker 1: she should be given a public defender like all the
0:45
Speaker 1: rest of the poor people in the country. Today's article
0:49
Speaker 1: is from the Daily Mail. Headline, Ghislaine Maxwell's appeal is
0:52
Speaker 1: in jeopardy as her estranged husband refuses to pay her
0:56
Speaker 1: $ 2 million legal bill. This article was authored by Daphne Barak.
1:03
Speaker 1: You know, it's pretty funny that Daphne Barak gets all
1:05
Speaker 1: of these Ghislaine Maxwell interviews and all these stories on
1:09
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell all of a sudden. I mean, it's almost
1:11
Speaker 1: like Daphne Barak's dad and Ghislaine Maxwell were friends. Oh, wait,
1:15
Speaker 1: they were? Oh, oh, that's right. Ghislaine Maxwell's appeal against
1:20
Speaker 1: her 20-year jail sentence for sexual abuse lies in tatters
1:24
Speaker 1: because her estranged husband has refused to pay her lawyers.
1:28
Speaker 1: And are they like in some absurd way trying to
1:32
Speaker 1: make people feel bad for her here? Because I don't
1:35
Speaker 1: think anyone does feel bad for her. Now, there might
1:37
Speaker 1: be some folks out there, right? There's always those, oh,
1:41
Speaker 1: I'm going to go against the grain and be edgy types.
1:44
Speaker 1: But real adults, anyone paying attention, they don't have sympathy
1:48
Speaker 1: for this woman, especially considering how many people are languishing
1:51
Speaker 1: away in jail right now with no hope of an appeal.
1:56
Speaker 1: Scott Borgeson, 46, who secretly married Maxwell, 60, in 2016,
2:02
Speaker 1: controls her fortune after she transferred up to 20 million
2:06
Speaker 1: pounds into a trust fund before her arrest in 2020.
2:10
Speaker 1: And the whole entire thing was she was trying to
2:11
Speaker 1: hide that money from the survivors. So it's kind of
2:15
Speaker 1: delicious here to see Scott Borgeson coming in for the kill.
2:19
Speaker 1: You know, Maxwell's like an injured hippo here. And the
2:23
Speaker 1: alligator comes in, which is Borgerson, and slaps its jaws
2:27
Speaker 1: right around its throat. But Borgerson ended the relationship with
2:32
Speaker 1: Maxwell during a phone call to the New York prison
2:35
Speaker 1: where she was awaiting trial. Did she think this guy
2:39
Speaker 1: was going to do anything differently? I mean, he left
2:41
Speaker 1: his wife and kids for her. Then all of a sudden,
2:43
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell thinks it's a good idea to transfer all
2:46
Speaker 1: of your money into a trust with this scoundrel. She's
2:49
Speaker 1: getting everything she deserves, folks. Now he has been accused
2:53
Speaker 1: of failing to pay a $ 900, 000 legal bill to her
2:57
Speaker 1: defense team and provide the $ 1 million required to challenge
3:00
Speaker 1: the conviction. Until the cash is transferred, her legal team
3:04
Speaker 1: is unlikely to meet a January deadline, forcing her to
3:07
Speaker 1: face the prospect she might die behind bars. Wah, poor Ghislaine.
3:14
Speaker 1: She might die behind bars. She didn't get enough time.
3:17
Speaker 1: She should have gotten the 35. She only got 20,
3:20
Speaker 1: and she's getting to do it in easy time. They
3:23
Speaker 1: should be happy with that. But no, they're going to
3:25
Speaker 1: keep rocking the boat until they find some sort of
3:29
Speaker 1: chink in the armor. That way they can push through
3:32
Speaker 1: and get her out of the prison. That's their goal, right?
3:35
Speaker 1: That's going to be the goal. Get Ghislaine Maxwell out.
3:37
Speaker 1: Operation Get Ghislaine Out. They'll wait a few years for
3:41
Speaker 1: people not to be paying attention. Then they'll make their move.
3:46
Speaker 1: Maxwell's pals fear he is delaying their divorce and her
3:49
Speaker 1: access to money as a negotiating ploy. Well, why wouldn't he?
3:53
Speaker 1: What do you think he's going to play fair with
3:54
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell? Why should he? In fact, I can almost
3:58
Speaker 1: guarantee that people are happy as hell to see that
4:01
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell is getting the old okey-doke pulled on her
4:04
Speaker 1: by this dude, considering she was doing the same thing
4:07
Speaker 1: to how many people? Lying, conniving, working her way into
4:12
Speaker 1: their good graces only to destroy them. and treat them
4:17
Speaker 1: like they were utter garbage, and now the shoe's on
4:20
Speaker 1: the other foot as she rots away in prison, and
4:23
Speaker 1: guess what? I have zero empathy for it. He thinks
4:27
Speaker 1: if he drags it out, she will give him most
4:29
Speaker 1: of the money, said one. She is in jail. Not
4:32
Speaker 1: much he can do from there. But a legal source
4:34
Speaker 1: said he doesn't trust what Maxwell's lawyers are telling him.
4:38
Speaker 1: And honestly, with the players on the stage here, I
4:41
Speaker 1: don't trust any of these people, so I guess they're
4:43
Speaker 1: all lying until proven otherwise. I mean, Borgeson's definitely making
4:48
Speaker 1: a move for the money. That's certainly the kind of
4:50
Speaker 1: person he is. But with Maxwell, zero chance that anybody's
4:54
Speaker 1: out here losing any sleep because Ghislaine Maxwell is getting
4:58
Speaker 1: a scam pulled on her. How many licks did you
5:01
Speaker 1: and Jeffrey Epstein pull on people? How much money did
5:03
Speaker 1: you steal? How many lives did you ruin? Maxwell and
5:08
Speaker 1: Borgeson reportedly met in Iceland in 2013. Her relationship with
5:12
Speaker 1: San Diego billionaire Ted Waite had collapsed, and friends said
5:16
Speaker 1: she was vulnerable. Borgeson was still married to his first wife, Rebecca,
5:21
Speaker 1: mother of his young son and daughter. Can you imagine
5:23
Speaker 1: how they always set this up with Maxwell? Oh, she
5:26
Speaker 1: was vulnerable after every breakup. Oh, her dad said she
5:29
Speaker 1: was vulnerable, so Jeffrey Epstein got his hooks into her. Like,
5:33
Speaker 1: she has no responsibility as an adult here. It's amazing
5:38
Speaker 1: to me that people would continue on that path to
5:41
Speaker 1: try and set her up like some kind of victim.
5:46
Speaker 1: The couple married three years later, but in 2019, after
5:50
Speaker 1: her pal Jeffrey Epstein, you mean co-conspirator, fellow child abuser,
5:55
Speaker 1: was found hanged in his jail cell while awaiting trial
5:58
Speaker 1: for sex abuse, Maxwell went into hiding, moving from house
6:01
Speaker 1: to house. I thought that she didn't go into hiding. Remember,
6:05
Speaker 1: she said that the only reason she was moving from
6:07
Speaker 1: house to house was to get away from the media
6:09
Speaker 1: and the paparazzi. Meanwhile, the media was way too busy creating,
6:13
Speaker 1: you know, wedge issues, artificial wedge issues for the populace
6:17
Speaker 1: to deal with. Never mind trying to find Ghislaine Maxwell.
6:21
Speaker 1: Up until Julie K. Brown released her article, nobody gave
6:25
Speaker 1: a damn what was going on with Epstein, what was
6:28
Speaker 1: going on with Maxwell, the fact that they raped and
6:30
Speaker 1: hurt all of those girls. Few knew she and Borgeson
6:36
Speaker 1: had married till it was referenced by our prosecutors at
6:39
Speaker 1: her 2020 trial. That's not true. We knew she was
6:42
Speaker 1: married to him. We talked about it here extensively. And
6:44
Speaker 1: not just us. When I say we, I mean the
6:47
Speaker 1: greater community as a whole. People who follow the case,
6:50
Speaker 1: people who are investigating the case, and people who are
6:52
Speaker 1: covering the case. We all knew that Borgeson and her
6:55
Speaker 1: were married. We all knew that they were hanging out
6:57
Speaker 1: at man's house. Her brothers were astonished to find out
7:01
Speaker 1: that not only was she married, but had made all
7:04
Speaker 1: of her money over to Scott, said a source close
7:06
Speaker 1: to the family. Yeah, I'm sure the brothers wanted their piece.
7:09
Speaker 1: They wanted to make sure they got their cut. A
7:11
Speaker 1: whole family full of grifters, in my opinion. You just
7:14
Speaker 1: take a look at what happened with their dad, the
7:17
Speaker 1: brothers being involved in that, and everything since then. Borgerson
7:25
Speaker 1: did not visit her in the New York jail once,
7:27
Speaker 1: says friends, and failed to attend any of the trial.
7:31
Speaker 1: So what was Borgerson's real plan here? Was the plan
7:33
Speaker 1: always to just get in on the money? I mean,
7:36
Speaker 1: he left his wife and his kids for Ghislaine Maxwell,
7:38
Speaker 1: and then he doesn't even bother going to see Ghislaine
7:40
Speaker 1: Maxwell while she's locked up. Meanwhile, he's moseying around with
7:45
Speaker 1: some yoga instructor that can crack walnuts with her glutes.
7:49
Speaker 1: I mean, that's what they were saying, right? So this
7:52
Speaker 1: is Scott Borgeson. This is who he is. Why would
7:54
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell think anything different? Folks, when people show you
7:57
Speaker 1: who they are, listen to them. And if some dude
8:01
Speaker 1: leaves his family for you, chances are, if something better
8:04
Speaker 1: comes along, he's going to leave you too. Colorado law
8:09
Speaker 1: firm Hudden Morgan & Foreman, which acted for Maxwell in
8:12
Speaker 1: the trial, has filed a lawsuit against her and brother
8:15
Speaker 1: Kevin for nearly $ 900, 000. court documents showed she received tens
8:20
Speaker 1: of millions of dollars from Epstein and had sold her
8:23
Speaker 1: New York home for 15 million. So she should have
8:26
Speaker 1: a bunch of money. But again, that money should have
8:29
Speaker 1: been seized. How is it that this is not a
8:32
Speaker 1: Rico case? I mean, I know you're tired of hearing
8:35
Speaker 1: it by now, but I'm going to continue to say
8:37
Speaker 1: it until my tongue falls out. This is has Rico
8:41
Speaker 1: written all over it. I've seen Rico in my own
8:43
Speaker 1: life with people I care about for way less than this.
8:47
Speaker 1: But here we are with all of these famous people,
8:50
Speaker 1: all of these powerful people, all of these Johns, and
8:53
Speaker 1: nobody goes to prison? Borgeson dismissed the claims as fake news.
9:01
Speaker 1: He pointed to legal testimony from Hutton that he expressed cooperation, transparency,
9:07
Speaker 1: and honesty in the discussions. I highly doubt that Scott
9:11
Speaker 1: Borgeson has ever done any of those things ever in
9:14
Speaker 1: his life. Another sick, disgusting individual. What are you doing
9:19
Speaker 1: marrying Ghislaine Maxwell, bro? You knew what she was. You
9:21
Speaker 1: knew what she was up to. And you knew that
9:23
Speaker 1: this was inevitably going to be the road that had
9:26
Speaker 1: to be traversed. But instead of sticking around for your
9:30
Speaker 1: so-called wife, you pillage her loot and you hit the bricks.
9:35
Speaker 1: And while if it was anybody else pretty much under
9:37
Speaker 1: the sun, I'd have some empathy for them. I do
9:39
Speaker 1: not have any empathy for Ghislaine Maxwell. You know why?
9:42
Speaker 1: Because that money, all of that money comes from ill-gotten
9:45
Speaker 1: gains anyway. It wasn't like she was out there earning
9:48
Speaker 1: that money. So I don't really care that her stolen
9:53
Speaker 1: money got stolen from her. And these articles by Daphne
9:58
Speaker 1: Barack that try and elicit people to feel bad for
10:01
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell are laughable at best. But I guess, like
10:06
Speaker 1: they say, you have to consider the source. All right, folks,
10:10
Speaker 1: that's going to do it for this one. If you'd
10:11
Speaker 1: like to contact me, you can do that at BobbyCapucci
10:14
Speaker 1: at ProtonMail.com. That's B-O-B-B-Y-C-A-P-U-C-C-I at ProtonMail.com. You can also find
10:22
Speaker 1: me on Twitter at B-O-B-B-Y underscore C-A-P-U-C-C-I. The link that
10:28
Speaker 1: I discussed can be found in the description box. You know,
10:33
Speaker 1: we've been talking about a lot of different things, and
10:35
Speaker 1: you know, the topic on everybody's mind is the coronavirus. Well,
10:40
Speaker 1: we have our own virus we're going to discuss on
10:42
Speaker 1: this podcast today, and that virus is Ghislaine Maxwell. There's
10:47
Speaker 1: a new article out in the Times, and the headline is,
10:51
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein's ex, Ghislaine Maxwell, sues his estate for legal fees. Stop. Pause. What?
10:59
Speaker 1: So Ghislaine Maxwell is suing Jeffrey Epstein's estate for legal
11:04
Speaker 1: fees because she says that Epstein said he had promised
11:08
Speaker 1: to pay her legal fees for claims brought against her
11:10
Speaker 1: by his accusers. Alright, this article was written by Matthew
11:15
Speaker 1: Goldstein and it legitimately came out 30 minutes ago. The
11:20
Speaker 1: whereabouts of Ghislaine Maxwell, the former girlfriend and longtime associate, uh,
11:25
Speaker 1: co-conspirator of Jeffrey Epstein, has been largely a mystery since
11:29
Speaker 1: the registered sex offender, pedophile, was arrested last summer on
11:33
Speaker 1: sex trafficking charges. Not off to a great start here
11:36
Speaker 1: in the New York Times, huh, what they're wording? Uh,
11:39
Speaker 1: his associate, sex trafficking charges. How about pedophile, okay? That's
11:43
Speaker 1: what he is. Just call him that, Mr. Goldstein. It's okay.
11:46
Speaker 1: He's not gonna come back from the grave and sue
11:48
Speaker 1: you or anything like that. The guy is a pedophile, alright?
11:52
Speaker 1: But Ms. Maxwell has surfaced with a lawsuit against Mr.
11:55
Speaker 1: Epstein's estate, saying the financier, pedophile, who died last year,
12:00
Speaker 1: had promised to pay her legal fees for any claims
12:03
Speaker 1: from the dozens of women who say he helped him
12:06
Speaker 1: recruit them to give him massages when they were teenagers. Okay,
12:12
Speaker 1: let's take a look here. Ghislaine Maxwell, again, is angling...
12:17
Speaker 1: to get herself out ahead of this. Again, she's angling
12:21
Speaker 1: to have Jeffrey Epstein's money protect her. And I think
12:24
Speaker 1: this is significant because she wouldn't be making this move
12:27
Speaker 1: if the pressure wasn't on her. And I said it
12:29
Speaker 1: once and I'll say it again, now that Epstein is dead,
12:32
Speaker 1: these gals don't have access to the money that they
12:36
Speaker 1: had when Epstein was alive. So, they don't have the
12:39
Speaker 1: legal representation that they would have had if old Jeff
12:43
Speaker 1: was still alive here, right? Because Epstein would have brought
12:46
Speaker 1: in the big guns. He could have afforded to bring
12:48
Speaker 1: in whoever he wanted to defend them. And he would
12:51
Speaker 1: have left Norock unturned considering they held the keys to
12:54
Speaker 1: the kingdom. And he knows that if any of these
12:56
Speaker 1: girls would have been brought before an interrogator, they would
13:00
Speaker 1: have spilled the beans. And Epstein knew that. That's why
13:03
Speaker 1: they all had such generous compensation packages. That's why they
13:07
Speaker 1: were all taken care of the way they were. And
13:10
Speaker 1: that's why they were all protected legally under that immunity deal.
13:15
Speaker 1: Miss Maxwell brought her suit in Superior Court in the U.S.
13:18
Speaker 1: Virgin Islands, where Mr. Epstein's estate is being probated. The
13:22
Speaker 1: suit was filed on Friday, but not docketed until late Tuesday.
13:26
Speaker 1: She has some nerve. Ghislaine Maxwell has some effing nerve.
13:29
Speaker 1: So not only was she involved in the abuse of
13:31
Speaker 1: these girls, right? Now she thinks that she's entitled to
13:34
Speaker 1: some of Jeffrey Epstein's money to defend herself against these
13:38
Speaker 1: allegations by these girls with the money from the estate
13:41
Speaker 1: that these gals, the survivors, are entitled to. So basically,
13:45
Speaker 1: she's trying to eff them twice. It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable
13:49
Speaker 1: what Ghislaine Maxwell is up to and what she thinks
13:51
Speaker 1: she'll get away with. Does she really think that she's
13:54
Speaker 1: not going to be dragged over the coals for this?
13:56
Speaker 1: Does she really think that she wasn't going to be
13:58
Speaker 1: put on blast on podcasts around the world over this?
14:02
Speaker 1: Give me a break with this lady. The lawsuit was
14:06
Speaker 1: a rare public movement by Ms. Maxwell, who has kept
14:09
Speaker 1: a low profile since Mr. Epstein's death last August in
14:12
Speaker 1: federal custody. She remains a central figure in the investigation
14:16
Speaker 1: by federal prosecutors in Manhattan who are looking into associates
14:19
Speaker 1: of Mr. Epstein. Investigators are trying to determine who may
14:23
Speaker 1: have assisted him in recruiting young girls and women to
14:26
Speaker 1: be sexually abused and who may have moved money to
14:29
Speaker 1: further his efforts. That's a significant piece there too, huh?
14:32
Speaker 1: Who moved his money? Well, let's start with Jess Staley.
14:35
Speaker 1: How about that? How much money did Glenn Dubin move
14:37
Speaker 1: for him? How much money did Les Wexner move for him?
14:40
Speaker 1: All right, if we're talking about who's moving money, then
14:42
Speaker 1: we're going to have to really get down in the weeds, right?
14:44
Speaker 1: And we're going to have to really talk about who's
14:45
Speaker 1: moving money. Because as you all know, I totally 100%
14:51
Speaker 1: believe that there was a ton, a ton of money
14:54
Speaker 1: laundering going on here. And you see it by the
14:57
Speaker 1: transaction history. You see it by these fake banks that
15:00
Speaker 1: he popped up in the Virgin Islands. And you just
15:02
Speaker 1: see it by the way things are unfolding when it
15:06
Speaker 1: comes to his finances, right? Ms. Maxwell, whose father was
15:10
Speaker 1: the late British media mogul Robert Maxwell, has hired a
15:14
Speaker 1: team of lawyers from New York, Colorado, and California to
15:17
Speaker 1: monitor the ongoing criminal investigation and defend her in lawsuits
15:22
Speaker 1: filed by Mr. Epstein's accusers. My question is this, where
15:26
Speaker 1: is Ghislaine getting all of this money? If any of
15:30
Speaker 1: this money came from Jeffrey Epstein, how does she still
15:32
Speaker 1: have access to it? If it was you or I,
15:36
Speaker 1: and we were involved in some sort of criminal enterprise,
15:40
Speaker 1: all of our funds would be frozen. Every last dollar
15:42
Speaker 1: would be frozen. They'd have forensic accountants on it. They'd
15:46
Speaker 1: be all over it, folks, alright? But yet, Ghislaine Maxwell
15:51
Speaker 1: is still somehow accessing pools and pools of money from
15:56
Speaker 1: to defend herself from this onslaught of lawsuits. Where is
16:00
Speaker 1: the money coming from? Who is protecting her? Who is
16:03
Speaker 1: giving her these resources? And the question is, why are
16:07
Speaker 1: they doing it? In her complaint, Ms. Maxwell, 58, alludes
16:13
Speaker 1: to the once intimate relationship she had with Mr. Epstein,
16:16
Speaker 1: describing herself as a long-time employee who formed a legal
16:19
Speaker 1: and special relationship with him. But the complaint said Ms.
16:23
Speaker 1: Maxwell had no involvement in or knowledge of Epstein's alleged misconduct.
16:28
Speaker 1: That is such bullshit. That is such... bullshit, alright? And
16:33
Speaker 1: the investigators are still looking at evidence to see if
16:36
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell was involved? What does that even mean? Just
16:39
Speaker 1: go ahead and read the Filthy Rich book and you'll
16:43
Speaker 1: see just how involved Ghislaine Maxwell was. Just talk to
16:46
Speaker 1: any of these survivors and you'll see just how involved
16:49
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell was. What do you mean you're still trying
16:52
Speaker 1: to compile evidence? Berman is just a joke at this point.
16:57
Speaker 1: Quit dragging your feet, sir, and do your job. The
17:02
Speaker 1: suit says she has incurred significant legal fees, personal security costs,
17:06
Speaker 1: and other expenses. Nobody cares! Nobody cares about your legal
17:10
Speaker 1: fees or your personal expenses. Nobody cares about any of it.
17:13
Speaker 1: We want you arrested, okay, Ghislaine Maxwell? We all think
17:16
Speaker 1: you're guilty. That's all of our opinions, okay? We think
17:19
Speaker 1: you're as guilty as it comes. We also think... that
17:21
Speaker 1: you were the brains behind the operation, all right? And
17:24
Speaker 1: you have some gall trying to go after some of
17:28
Speaker 1: this money here and another slap in the face to
17:30
Speaker 1: the survivors. How dare you? Because of her work for
17:35
Speaker 1: a number of Mr. Epstein's businesses from 1999 to 2006,
17:39
Speaker 1: among those tasks, the lawsuit said, was managing Mr. Epstein's
17:44
Speaker 1: homes in the Virgin Islands, New York, Paris, Florida, and
17:48
Speaker 1: New Mexico. The suit says she also worked for his
17:52
Speaker 1: COUQ Foundation. She wasn't just the house manager, folks. That's
17:56
Speaker 1: a bunch of bullshit. Absolute and utter bullshit, okay? She
18:03
Speaker 1: was the underboss, the brains behind the operation. She was
18:08
Speaker 1: the one that was the vehicle behind To get this
18:12
Speaker 1: all started. Don't forget that, folks. And don't let these
18:15
Speaker 1: articles ever sway your opinion of that, right? This broad,
18:19
Speaker 1: this lady, this piece of shit needs to be arrested ASAP.
18:25
Speaker 1: The lawsuit says that before Mr. Epstein died, he said
18:28
Speaker 1: he would pay her legal fees in connection with other
18:30
Speaker 1: lawsuits that listed her as a defendant. According to the complaint, Ms.
18:34
Speaker 1: Maxwell sent the estate a letter in November demanding identification
18:39
Speaker 1: for all those costs, citing promises Mr. Epstein had made
18:42
Speaker 1: in writing and verbally about supporting her financially. Those commitments,
18:46
Speaker 1: the suit said, have not been honored. Well, since we're
18:50
Speaker 1: at it, Jeffrey Epstein also told me that he wanted
18:52
Speaker 1: to give Virginia Roberts $ 50 million. How about that? That's
18:56
Speaker 1: what he told me. That's last I, last time I
18:58
Speaker 1: talked to old Jeff, he said 50 million for Virginia Roberts,
19:00
Speaker 1: easy peasy. And he also said he wanted to give
19:02
Speaker 1: Maria Farmer 50 million. So let's bring that into a
19:05
Speaker 1: suit too. All right. How ridiculous. How utterly ridiculous for
19:09
Speaker 1: Ghislaine Maxwell to run around and act like, oh, well,
19:11
Speaker 1: Jeffrey and I had a conversation where he said he'd
19:14
Speaker 1: be paying my legal fees. Yeah, right. Yeah, right, nobody
19:19
Speaker 1: believes you. That money isn't for you to touch. That
19:22
Speaker 1: money's going to these survivors. You're not getting one cent, Ghislaine.
19:26
Speaker 1: All you're getting is a one-way trip to a jail cell, okay?
19:29
Speaker 1: Maybe you and your friend Sarah Kellen Vickers will be
19:32
Speaker 1: at the same facility, and you guys can have nice
19:34
Speaker 1: little chats in the yard. The lawsuit was filed by
19:40
Speaker 1: lawyers from the firm of Quintaros, Prieto, Wood, and Boyer,
19:44
Speaker 1: which has an office in the Virgin Islands. Messages left
19:47
Speaker 1: at the office on Wednesday morning were not immediately received.
19:50
Speaker 1: returned an attorney for mr epstein's estate did not immediately
19:54
Speaker 1: return messages seeking comment they never do none of these
19:57
Speaker 1: attorneys ever ever ever ever ever want to comment right
20:01
Speaker 1: They're all, you know, they have big loud mouths when
20:03
Speaker 1: they want to run to the papers, but they never
20:05
Speaker 1: want to answer any hard questions, any pointed questions. All
20:09
Speaker 1: they want to do is toss their narrative out there
20:12
Speaker 1: and hope that it catches and it takes with the
20:14
Speaker 1: mainstream media. That's what these lawyers like to do. Ms.
20:18
Speaker 1: Maxwell and Mr. Epstein largely parted ways after he pleaded
20:21
Speaker 1: guilty in Florida in 2008 to a charge of soliciting
20:26
Speaker 1: prostitution from an underage girl. What?! How does this author
20:31
Speaker 1: know that? Talk about carrying water for Maxwell. Miss Maxwell
20:35
Speaker 1: and Mr. Epstein largely parted ways after he pleaded guilty
20:38
Speaker 1: in Florida in 2008. Survey says, wrong. They were still
20:43
Speaker 1: in contact, just like she was still in contact with
20:45
Speaker 1: the prince. And you see, folks, this is why I
20:47
Speaker 1: have a problem with the New York Times. This is
20:49
Speaker 1: why I have a problem with the New York Times.
20:54
Speaker 1: The reporting is shoddy at best, all right? That conviction
21:00
Speaker 1: required him to register as a sex offender. Mr. Epstein's estate,
21:04
Speaker 1: valued at $ 600 million before the big stock market sell-off,
21:09
Speaker 1: $ 631 million, again another inaccuracy in this article, before the
21:13
Speaker 1: big stock market sell-off prompted by concern over the coronavirus,
21:17
Speaker 1: is the subject of litigation across multiple fronts. Nearly three
21:22
Speaker 1: dozen women have brought claims against the estate saying they
21:25
Speaker 1: were sexually abused by Mr. Epstein as teenagers at his
21:29
Speaker 1: residences in New York, the Virgin Islands, and New Mexico.
21:34
Speaker 1: And let's not forget London. Let's not forget France. Look,
21:38
Speaker 1: you see folks, again, I don't mean to dive into
21:41
Speaker 1: this this way, but this is why I do these
21:43
Speaker 1: daily drops and these morning updates and read these articles.
21:46
Speaker 1: That way we can read between the lines, right? And
21:48
Speaker 1: we can look at what's going on here. And, you know,
21:51
Speaker 1: these articles leave a lot out most of the time,
21:55
Speaker 1: and they just scratch the surface. So if you weren't
21:57
Speaker 1: aware of the case, and you didn't know what was
22:00
Speaker 1: going on with the Jeffrey Epstein situation, there is a
22:04
Speaker 1: bunch of inaccuracies in this article that you would be
22:07
Speaker 1: taking as fact, and then you would be going to
22:09
Speaker 1: spread those to your friends if you were interested in this.
22:11
Speaker 1: You see the problem with the media? This is the
22:14
Speaker 1: problem with the media, right here, right in front of
22:16
Speaker 1: our face. Many of the women have filed claims and
22:20
Speaker 1: related lawsuits anonymously. In some of those lawsuits, Ms. Maxwell
22:24
Speaker 1: has been named as either a co-defendant or someone who
22:27
Speaker 1: assisted Mr. Epstein in the abuse. Well, duh, that's exactly
22:31
Speaker 1: what she was. She wasn't a house manager, she isn't
22:34
Speaker 1: a victim, and she doesn't deserve one single cent of
22:37
Speaker 1: this money to put towards her criminal defense. The executors
22:42
Speaker 1: of Mr. Epstein's will are seeking to establish a restitution
22:45
Speaker 1: program funded by the estate's assets to provide financial relief
22:49
Speaker 1: to victims without litigation. But the creation of the fund
22:53
Speaker 1: has been delayed by actions taken by the Attorney General
22:56
Speaker 1: of the U.S. Virgin Islands who has said she wants
22:58
Speaker 1: to make sure that victims have a voice in the process.
23:01
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's what she means. That's what she wants.
23:04
Speaker 1: That's all Denise George cares about. She doesn't want the
23:06
Speaker 1: funds from the islands or anything like that. It's all
23:08
Speaker 1: about the survivors. The estate is tapped Kenneth R. Feinberg,
23:13
Speaker 1: one of the nation's best-known administrators of restitution funds, and
23:17
Speaker 1: Jordana Feldman, a lawyer who worked closely with Mr. Feinberg
23:21
Speaker 1: on the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund to oversee payments
23:25
Speaker 1: to Mr. Epstein's victims. Denise George, the Attorney General for
23:30
Speaker 1: the Virgin Islands, said in a recent interview that she
23:33
Speaker 1: does not object to a restitution fund being created, but
23:36
Speaker 1: she wants the survivors to be able to choose a
23:38
Speaker 1: fund administrator along with the administrators chosen by the estate.
23:42
Speaker 1: That's a good thing. I said that as well. I
23:44
Speaker 1: would like an independent arbiter to be involved in this.
23:47
Speaker 1: I want somebody who has no connections to Jeffrey Epstein
23:50
Speaker 1: or his buddies or his lawyers or anyone around him
23:53
Speaker 1: to be involved in this. But I also want that
23:55
Speaker 1: person to say to Denise George, you're not getting one
24:00
Speaker 1: single shiny dime. We have always had the position that
24:07
Speaker 1: the survivors have to be properly compensated, Ms. George said,
24:11
Speaker 1: but there has always been the concern that victims didn't
24:13
Speaker 1: have part in picking the administrator. So... We're at a
24:19
Speaker 1: point now, folks, where Ghislaine Maxwell and Denise George are
24:23
Speaker 1: both trying to siphon money off of this, off of
24:26
Speaker 1: this trust, right? Ghislaine Maxwell is saying in her crazy
24:30
Speaker 1: ass reality, whatever reality that she's living in, she believes
24:33
Speaker 1: that she deserves some of the money from the estate
24:35
Speaker 1: to defend her from the accusers. who are the ones
24:40
Speaker 1: who are really entitled to that money. So she's trying
24:43
Speaker 1: to do the double whammy on these survivors, and it's disgusting.
24:46
Speaker 1: It makes me sick to even read that article. This
24:49
Speaker 1: woman needs to be stopped. She needs to be pulled
24:51
Speaker 1: out of whatever hole she's hiding in, and she needs
24:54
Speaker 1: to be dragged before the justice of the world, alright?
24:59
Speaker 1: Because enough is enough. Enough is enough with Ghislaine Maxwell, folks.
25:02
Speaker 1: How many times are we going to hear about her
25:06
Speaker 1: being involved in this case and another story from one
25:08
Speaker 1: of the survivors about how she was abused by Maxwell
25:12
Speaker 1: as well as Epstein? How many more of these stories
25:13
Speaker 1: do we have to hear before Berman stops dragging his
25:16
Speaker 1: feet and steps up to the plate? I hope it's soon.
25:21
Speaker 1: I really hope it's soon. Because the day that she
25:24
Speaker 1: is arrested, I already told you, we're popping bottles on
25:26
Speaker 1: this podcast. I don't even drink, but we are popping bottles.
25:30
Speaker 1: bottles on this podcast the day that this lady gets
25:32
Speaker 1: arrested and it's coming i have i'm telling you folks
25:35
Speaker 1: 2020 this is the year this is the year that
25:38
Speaker 1: the predator turns into the prey i've been saying it
25:40
Speaker 1: for a while now but i truly believe it we're
25:43
Speaker 1: only in march and look where we're at look at
25:46
Speaker 1: the movement in this case look at the dominoes that
25:48
Speaker 1: are falling and look at the pressure that is being
25:52
Speaker 1: put on these people every single day by all of
25:56
Speaker 1: you awesome people out there in the All of you
26:00
Speaker 1: that search out this content, that search out other bits
26:04
Speaker 1: of content, that keep the pressure on on social media.
26:07
Speaker 1: It's because of you that we are where we are
26:09
Speaker 1: right now. And all I can say is keep it up, folks.
26:13
Speaker 1: Keep it up. We are going to see justice in
26:17
Speaker 1: this case. All right, everybody, if you'd like to contact me,
26:21
Speaker 1: you can do that at bobbycapucci at protonmail.com. That's B-O-B-B-Y-C-A-P-U-C-C-I
26:28
Speaker 1: at protonmail.com. Also, happy... Welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
26:36
Speaker 1: Today marks the 15th day of the Ghislaine Maxwell trial
26:39
Speaker 1: and the last day of the recess as we prepare
26:43
Speaker 1: and wait for the defense to begin to mount their case. Now,
26:49
Speaker 1: on our way here, we have heard some powerful testimony
26:53
Speaker 1: by the survivors, by people corroborating their stories, and by
26:58
Speaker 1: people who have put Ghislaine Maxwell right in the center
27:04
Speaker 1: of Jeffrey Epstein's operations. Now, the goal of the defense
27:09
Speaker 1: is going to be to poke holes in all of
27:12
Speaker 1: that testimony. They're going to try and go after the
27:17
Speaker 1: credibility of not only the witnesses, but the specialists that
27:21
Speaker 1: were brought up, doctors that were brought up, you name it.
27:24
Speaker 1: And we're hearing now after a late night filing that
27:28
Speaker 1: not only that, but the defense is looking to bring
27:32
Speaker 1: three lawyers who have represented survivors in as witnesses. One
27:38
Speaker 1: of them, Jack Scarola, the other, Mr. Glassman, and then
27:43
Speaker 1: the third, Bradley Edwards. Now, those of you who have
27:47
Speaker 1: been following the Epstein case, you're pretty familiar with Jack
27:51
Speaker 1: Scarola and Bradley Edwards for sure. Bradley Edwards has been
27:56
Speaker 1: at the forefront as a lawyer battling Jeffrey Epstein and
28:00
Speaker 1: his cohorts for a very, very, very long time. So
28:05
Speaker 1: much so that Jeffrey Epstein had his goons putting the
28:09
Speaker 1: press on Bradley Edwards, going through his trash, all kinds
28:13
Speaker 1: of wild shit. So the defense is now looking to
28:17
Speaker 1: call these three lawyers up to talk about the motivations
28:23
Speaker 1: of their clients would be my guess. And I find
28:27
Speaker 1: it kind of weird, right? What about lawyer-client privilege? So
28:32
Speaker 1: you're going to call these lawyers up and ask them
28:34
Speaker 1: what them and their clients were talking about? That's a
28:37
Speaker 1: little odd, no? And furthermore, if on the defense... I
28:42
Speaker 1: don't know if I want Bradley Edwards up there talking
28:45
Speaker 1: about anything, because if you want to see somebody who has,
28:50
Speaker 1: you know, a map to where all the bodies are
28:53
Speaker 1: buried that we know about, it's Bradley Edwards. Nobody has
28:56
Speaker 1: been at the forefront of this case as far as
28:58
Speaker 1: lawyers go for longer. The guy has been in a
29:03
Speaker 1: tooth and nail, bare knuckle scrap with Jeffrey Epstein's people
29:08
Speaker 1: since pretty much this all began. And now they're trying
29:13
Speaker 1: to call him as a witness up to the stand
29:17
Speaker 1: to try and punch holes in his credibility or to
29:20
Speaker 1: try and make it seem like there's some sort of
29:24
Speaker 1: financial motivation for these ladies. Now, again, this has been
29:30
Speaker 1: their strategy from the beginning. And anyone who thinks that
29:33
Speaker 1: they're going to deviate from the course, they have not
29:37
Speaker 1: been paying attention. They have been... striking home this message
29:42
Speaker 1: since before the trial started. And they're going to continue
29:45
Speaker 1: that with their witnesses that they're going to be bringing up. Namely,
29:49
Speaker 1: Elizabeth Loftus. Elizabeth Loftus is a memory expert. And according
29:56
Speaker 1: to an article... In, I believe, The New Yorker. The
29:59
Speaker 1: woman who changed what memory is or some such nonsense.
30:02
Speaker 1: Guess what? I'm not buying it, okay? They brought her
30:07
Speaker 1: out in the Weinstein case. Few other cases. How did
30:11
Speaker 1: those cases turn out for Weinstein and his friends? Not
30:15
Speaker 1: so good, right? Because guess what? You can bring out
30:19
Speaker 1: a pig and you can put some lipstick on that pig.
30:23
Speaker 1: But guess what? At the end of the day... The
30:26
Speaker 1: pig is still a pig. So she's going to come
30:29
Speaker 1: out and attempt to frame it as these survivors misremembering.
30:36
Speaker 1: These survivors not really, you know, knowing what happened to them.
30:40
Speaker 1: The whole thing. And I've got to think that the
30:45
Speaker 1: jury is going to be able to see right through it.
30:48
Speaker 1: The same way they were able to see right through
30:50
Speaker 1: it with Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby and the rest
30:54
Speaker 1: of them. I would think that with all of the
30:57
Speaker 1: evidence present here, all of the testimony provided by the
31:01
Speaker 1: witnesses previously would go a long way in disputing what
31:07
Speaker 1: Elizabeth Loftus has to say. Now, she is an expert
31:16
Speaker 1: in her field, there's no doubt about it. She's worked
31:20
Speaker 1: for the Robert Durst, OJ Simpson and Harvey Weinstein, as
31:25
Speaker 1: I just stated. And in the words of a New
31:27
Speaker 1: York profile on the controversy surrounding her expertise, Elizabeth Loftus
31:32
Speaker 1: has changed the meaning of memory and her life's work
31:36
Speaker 1: has collided with the Me Too movement's moment of cultural reckoning.
31:40
Speaker 1: In particular, Loftus has questioned the reliability of memory and
31:44
Speaker 1: how she believes suggestion can mold it. She has also
31:47
Speaker 1: testified about her research during the trials of Jerry Sandusky,
31:51
Speaker 1: Ted Bundy, and Paul Shanley, a now deceased priest who
31:55
Speaker 1: served 12 years in prison following his conviction for raping
31:58
Speaker 1: a child. So basically, if you're a scumbag and you've
32:02
Speaker 1: been accused of sexual misconduct or abusing somebody or raping somebody,
32:08
Speaker 1: Elizabeth Loftus should be on your speed dial. You know,
32:12
Speaker 1: it's crazy. right? To think that all of these people
32:16
Speaker 1: use the same experts. And then you look at all
32:19
Speaker 1: of these people who use these experts and none of
32:22
Speaker 1: them get off. So how much of an expert are
32:25
Speaker 1: these experts really? That little excerpt we were just talking
32:30
Speaker 1: about is from Law and Crime, by the way. And
32:33
Speaker 1: it goes on to say that in a two-page order,
32:37
Speaker 1: Monday morning, blah, blah, blah, Judge Allison Nathan granted Maxwell
32:42
Speaker 1: permission to call Loftus. So that's looking back a little
32:45
Speaker 1: bit on the decision to allow Loftus to be called.
32:51
Speaker 1: She is, like I said, a specialist in memory. And
32:56
Speaker 1: she is somebody that they're going to bring forth to
33:00
Speaker 1: try and punch holes in the testimony given previously. They're
33:07
Speaker 1: going to try and make it seem like the whole
33:11
Speaker 1: grooming allegation is BS, bunk, like it doesn't exist. They're
33:16
Speaker 1: going to talk about how there is not enough science
33:20
Speaker 1: to back all of that up. And these are the
33:25
Speaker 1: witnesses that they're going to use to lay out their case.
33:28
Speaker 1: You're also going to hear from Park Dietz, a forensic
33:32
Speaker 1: psychiatrist who rose to national prominence during the case of
33:35
Speaker 1: Ronald Reagan's would-be assassin, John Hinckley Jr., And he was
33:40
Speaker 1: ultimately acquitted, obviously, by reasons of insanity. Dietz is being
33:44
Speaker 1: called here to question the prosecution's claims that Maxwell groomed
33:48
Speaker 1: her alleged victims. So, again, they're going to be calling
33:52
Speaker 1: Dietz here to go after those claims that there was
33:56
Speaker 1: grooming involved. And Park Dietz is going to make the
34:00
Speaker 1: case that there's no... There's no theory that has gained
34:04
Speaker 1: any acceptance, let alone general acceptance, in the relevant community.
34:09
Speaker 1: It has not been peer reviewed. It is not and
34:12
Speaker 1: cannot be tested. And there is no known or potential
34:16
Speaker 1: rate of error. And that is about grooming by proxy,
34:20
Speaker 1: which obviously Maxwell is being charged with. So what they're
34:24
Speaker 1: trying to say here by bringing Park Dietz in to
34:26
Speaker 1: back up their assertions is that there was no grooming
34:29
Speaker 1: done here. Maxwell wasn't grooming anybody. She was just playing
34:33
Speaker 1: the role of concerned citizen. You know, basically her own
34:38
Speaker 1: boys and girls club. She's just there to help people out.
34:42
Speaker 1: She would never be involved in anything sinister. Meanwhile, the
34:46
Speaker 1: testimony from these survivors tell us a completely and opposite story.
34:54
Speaker 1: And as far as Park Dietz goes, remember during the
34:58
Speaker 1: Andrea Yates case, he had a hit to his reputation
35:03
Speaker 1: after it was discovered that part of his testimony wasn't true.
35:08
Speaker 1: And when the first Texas Court of Appeals concluded that
35:11
Speaker 1: Dietz's mention of it, as well as a prosecutor's subsequent
35:15
Speaker 1: claim that it inspired Yates to commit a desperate act,
35:17
Speaker 1: could have had an impact on the jury's verdict. So basically,
35:20
Speaker 1: he was up there making up nonsense. And it affected
35:24
Speaker 1: the Andrea Yates case. Now, I'm certainly no expert in
35:28
Speaker 1: that field, but when it comes to experts like this,
35:31
Speaker 1: like this Park Dietz guy, you got to think that
35:33
Speaker 1: the prosecution is going to bring that up during cross, right?
35:36
Speaker 1: To punch some holes into his testimony. You know, if
35:40
Speaker 1: it's going to be a game of credibility, then the
35:43
Speaker 1: prosecution better get on board during cross here and hammer
35:46
Speaker 1: these folks for their credibility and for what they have
35:50
Speaker 1: said and done in the past. Right. If it's good
35:54
Speaker 1: for the goose and all. So those are a couple
35:59
Speaker 1: of the specialists that we can expect to be called
36:02
Speaker 1: for Ghislaine Maxwell. And obviously there's going to be a
36:06
Speaker 1: lot more. And like I mentioned earlier, they're also pining
36:12
Speaker 1: to get those three lawyers that I mentioned, Bradley Edwards,
36:15
Speaker 1: Jack Scarola and Mr. Glassman involved. in as witnesses as well. Now,
36:20
Speaker 1: I'm not too sure how that's going to land for them,
36:22
Speaker 1: how it's going to work out, but we'll keep our
36:24
Speaker 1: eye on it and see where it ends up. Because
36:29
Speaker 1: like I was saying, Bradley Edwards has been a thorn
36:33
Speaker 1: in the side of the Jeffrey Epstein criminal conspiracy enterprise
36:38
Speaker 1: for quite some time. And I think they might be
36:41
Speaker 1: getting a little bit more than they bargained for trying
36:44
Speaker 1: to get Bradley Edwards up on that stand. So today,
36:49
Speaker 1: we're going to finish off the episode by talking about
36:53
Speaker 1: this article from Reuters. And the author is Luke Cohen.
36:58
Speaker 1: And what they're talking about here is how Maxwell's lawyers
37:02
Speaker 1: are going to focus her defense on memory manipulation and money. Now,
37:07
Speaker 1: set the groundwork here about that with the two experts
37:11
Speaker 1: that are going to be their quote-unquote star witnesses. And
37:15
Speaker 1: we know what the game plan is. So let's jump
37:19
Speaker 1: into this article from Reuters and let's see what they've
37:22
Speaker 1: come up with. Glenn Maxwell's attorneys will likely focus on
37:27
Speaker 1: portraying the British socialite, a co-conspirator, general all-around scuzzbag, alleged
37:33
Speaker 1: child abuser, and, you know, bipedal serpent. accusers as untrustworthy
37:39
Speaker 1: and motivated by money when they start presenting their case
37:42
Speaker 1: in her sex abuse trial on Thursday, according to legal
37:46
Speaker 1: experts and court filings. Now, what other pathway do they
37:51
Speaker 1: have to try and get Maxwell off, folks? They don't
37:54
Speaker 1: have any other path to victory here. All they can
37:58
Speaker 1: hope for is that they do enough of a job
38:01
Speaker 1: with their bombing runs to punch enough holes in the
38:04
Speaker 1: testimony of the survivors And the experts brought forward to
38:07
Speaker 1: back up the testimony of the survivors so that it
38:11
Speaker 1: looks like there's enough doubt there that Maxwell gets off.
38:15
Speaker 1: That's what they're trying to do. They don't have any receipts.
38:18
Speaker 1: They can't prove that Maxwell is innocent here. And obviously
38:22
Speaker 1: the burden of proof is not on them. But they're
38:26
Speaker 1: going to continue to try and punch holes in the
38:29
Speaker 1: testimony that we have heard for the last two weeks.
38:33
Speaker 1: And they're going to bring these specialists along, like Park
38:36
Speaker 1: Dietz and Elizabeth Loftus, to try and further those goals. Now, remember,
38:46
Speaker 1: it's going to be up to the prosecution to slap
38:49
Speaker 1: back and make sure that they're asking the right questions.
38:57
Speaker 1: behavior and the previous way the prosecution has went about things,
39:04
Speaker 1: I'm not all that confident here that they're going to
39:06
Speaker 1: be able to handle the cross correctly because, let's be real,
39:12
Speaker 1: they haven't shown to be some great office of prosecutors
39:17
Speaker 1: so far. They've had a mountain of evidence. Sure seem
39:21
Speaker 1: to be making it a little bit more difficult than
39:23
Speaker 1: they need to, no? But it's going to be up
39:28
Speaker 1: to them to try and, make sure they blunt the
39:33
Speaker 1: testimony that's going to be provided by the so-called experts
39:37
Speaker 1: for the defense. Prosecutors rested their case on Friday after
39:43
Speaker 1: two weeks of emotional, often explicit testimony from four women
39:47
Speaker 1: who said Maxwell recruited and groomed them for abuse by
39:50
Speaker 1: the late financier, pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, when the women were teenagers.
39:56
Speaker 1: The women portrayed Maxwell as central to their abuse by Epstein,
39:59
Speaker 1: a globetrotting financier, pedophile, who died by suicide, allegedly, in
40:05
Speaker 1: 2019 in jail while awaiting trial on sex abuse charges.
40:10
Speaker 1: So we're still calling her a socialite, and we're calling
40:14
Speaker 1: Epstein a globetrotting financier? Come on, legacy media, get with
40:20
Speaker 1: it already. A globetrotting financier? How about a convicted sex
40:23
Speaker 1: offender and pedophile? That's probably the right way to talk
40:28
Speaker 1: about Jeffrey. Maxwell, 59, has pleaded not guilty to eight
40:33
Speaker 1: counts of sex trafficking and other crimes in federal court
40:36
Speaker 1: in New York. During cross-examination, her lawyers tried to undermine
40:40
Speaker 1: the women's credibility by asking about inconsistencies in their accounts
40:44
Speaker 1: and about awards they received from a fund for Epstein's victims. Now, again,
40:50
Speaker 1: I think that that's going to backfire for the defense.
40:54
Speaker 1: You're bringing up the money that was paid out by
40:56
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein's estate to these women. Now, what that tells
41:00
Speaker 1: me is that Jeffrey Epstein's estate has taken responsibility for
41:04
Speaker 1: the behavior of Of the late Jeffrey Epstein. And they've
41:09
Speaker 1: admitted that he committed these acts. Abused these girls. So
41:13
Speaker 1: you're bringing this up. Is just strengthening the case. Telling everybody.
41:18
Speaker 1: Yeah that these girls were abused so much so. That
41:21
Speaker 1: they were paid out by Epstein's estate. So you mean
41:24
Speaker 1: to tell me. During all this time that Maxwell was
41:26
Speaker 1: with them. Maxwell was hanging out. Maxwell was grooming them.
41:30
Speaker 1: She had nothing to do with it. So I think
41:33
Speaker 1: that's a folly statement. as far as the defense goes.
41:37
Speaker 1: And I would hope that the prosecution would press that
41:40
Speaker 1: advantage a little bit, but they don't seem to be
41:42
Speaker 1: doing that. This case is about memory, manipulation, and money.
41:49
Speaker 1: Maxwell's attorney, Bobby Sternum, said in her November 29th opening statement,
41:53
Speaker 1: and they told us from Jump Street what they were
41:55
Speaker 1: going to do, right? Memory, manipulation, and money. And they've
42:00
Speaker 1: stayed on course the whole entire time. They've pounded it home. Now,
42:04
Speaker 1: have they done a good enough job thus far to
42:07
Speaker 1: sway the jury? I don't think so. But they have
42:11
Speaker 1: stayed on target. They've stayed on message. And they have
42:14
Speaker 1: continued their full-scale bombing run over the witness's credibility. And
42:23
Speaker 1: they have not strayed from that kind of strategy this
42:28
Speaker 1: whole entire time. One of Maxwell's expected expert witnesses is
42:34
Speaker 1: Elizabeth Loftus, a psychologist who studies how people can be
42:37
Speaker 1: manipulated into having false memories. She has testified in or
42:42
Speaker 1: consulted for hundreds of trials, including those of OJ Simpson
42:46
Speaker 1: and Harvey Weinstein. So what they're trying to say here
42:50
Speaker 1: is that these girls were manipulated into having these false
42:54
Speaker 1: memories by lawyers and other people who are looking for
42:58
Speaker 1: a payday. That's their defense. When you break it all
43:01
Speaker 1: down and you crush it down to the basic neurons
43:04
Speaker 1: of it, that is what it is. That these girls
43:07
Speaker 1: were manipulated, these girls were steered in this direction by lawyers.
43:12
Speaker 1: There was no abuse here, just some lawyers trying to
43:14
Speaker 1: get rich. That's basically what the defense is. But undermining
43:20
Speaker 1: the accuser's credibility remains an uphill battle, said Duncan Levin,
43:24
Speaker 1: managing partner at Tucker Levin PLLC. It's straight out of
43:28
Speaker 1: the playbook, Levin said, but it's a heavy lift to
43:31
Speaker 1: ask jurors to discount what the accusers may be saying
43:35
Speaker 1: because they got money. Look, at the end of the day,
43:39
Speaker 1: it comes down to this. Jeffrey Epstein was dead and gone.
43:42
Speaker 1: How else are these girls supposed to get restitution from
43:45
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein if he's dead and gone? Should they have
43:48
Speaker 1: him dug up and put on trial as a corpse?
43:52
Speaker 1: The only restitution, the only way to get any payback
43:55
Speaker 1: here was to sue the estate or to get money
43:59
Speaker 1: out of the compensation fund. And once you get that money,
44:02
Speaker 1: you're also getting the admission that Epstein did this to you.
44:07
Speaker 1: So while they continue with the money, I would think
44:09
Speaker 1: that the prosecution and jurors are going to see right
44:14
Speaker 1: through that ploy. The defense has said, Its case will
44:20
Speaker 1: last between two and four days. Calling Maxwell. Given the
44:26
Speaker 1: women's compelling testimony, the defense's best bet may be calling
44:29
Speaker 1: Maxwell herself to testify, said Zachary Margulis Onuma, principal attorney
44:35
Speaker 1: at ZMO Law PLLC. The jury is going to believe
44:38
Speaker 1: the gist of what the witnesses are saying, Margulis Onuma said.
44:42
Speaker 1: The only real counter to that is Maxwell coming back
44:45
Speaker 1: and saying, no, I didn't intend that. Boy, that would
44:48
Speaker 1: be something. If they put Maxwell up on the stand,
44:51
Speaker 1: that will be something to see. I have my reservations
44:57
Speaker 1: about thinking that's going to occur. But again, maybe they
45:00
Speaker 1: feel like that's their only hope. Little Hail Mary time.
45:05
Speaker 1: But I wouldn't be too confident in having Maxwell get
45:09
Speaker 1: up on that stand. Now... We'll see, right? We'll see
45:13
Speaker 1: what her defense decides to do, but man, that would
45:17
Speaker 1: be something else. Maxwell's attorneys have not indicated whether or
45:24
Speaker 1: not they plan to call her to the stand. According
45:27
Speaker 1: to prosecutors, Maxwell's team also intends to call Robert Glassman,
45:31
Speaker 1: an attorney for a woman known as Jane, who testified
45:35
Speaker 1: that she was first abused by Epstein in 1994 when
45:39
Speaker 1: she was 14, and Maxwell took part in some of
45:42
Speaker 1: the encounters. At issue is whether Glassman told Jane that
45:46
Speaker 1: cooperating with prosecutors would assist her claim with the fund,
45:50
Speaker 1: which the defense says could taint her testimony. Jane testified
45:54
Speaker 1: that she was awarded $ 5 million from the compensation fund
45:57
Speaker 1: established by Epstein's estate. So, again, trying to manipulate the situation,
46:03
Speaker 1: trying to turn it into something that it's not. Oh, well,
46:07
Speaker 1: the lawyer told her that this would make her case better, so,
46:11
Speaker 1: I mean, come on, really? You mean to tell me
46:13
Speaker 1: if this was your daughter or your sister, you wouldn't
46:16
Speaker 1: tell her to go for the Monty and go after
46:19
Speaker 1: whatever sort of, uh, uh, financial restitution is available. It's ridiculous.
46:26
Speaker 1: It's totally ridiculous. During cross-examination, Maxwell attorney Laura Menninger pressed
46:34
Speaker 1: Jane on why she did not mention Maxwell's alleged role
46:38
Speaker 1: in the abuse during her 2019 conversations with law enforcement.
46:43
Speaker 1: Sternum said Jane only tagged Ghislaine when money was on
46:46
Speaker 1: the line and that all four women enhanced their claims
46:49
Speaker 1: by cooperating. So again, it's all about the money, right?
46:54
Speaker 1: All about the money. God, there's no way that any
46:57
Speaker 1: of these girls could have been abused. Maxwell is just
47:00
Speaker 1: a pillar of the community. It's obvious that they're all
47:03
Speaker 1: just going after the vast fortune of Ghislaine Maxwell. Jane
47:12
Speaker 1: testified that she did not believe helping prosecutors would boost
47:16
Speaker 1: her claim. The fund considered whether a claimant's assertions matched
47:19
Speaker 1: up with any law enforcement findings... But it is a
47:22
Speaker 1: stretch to say that cooperating enhanced the woman's claims, said
47:26
Speaker 1: Lori Levinson, a professor at Loyola Law School. There is
47:29
Speaker 1: no requirement that a victim cooperate or testify for the prosecution,
47:33
Speaker 1: said Levinson, who reviewed the fund's protocol at Reuters' request.
47:38
Speaker 1: So basically, Laura Levinson... who is a professor at Loyola,
47:44
Speaker 1: shoots that claim down right away, saying that these witnesses
47:49
Speaker 1: didn't even have to testify. They could have took their
47:51
Speaker 1: money and forgot about it all and not put themselves
47:53
Speaker 1: on the firing line here, not had their credibility attacked,
47:57
Speaker 1: not had their persons attacked by Maxwell and her team.
48:02
Speaker 1: But they didn't do that, did they? Here they are,
48:04
Speaker 1: testifying in open court, testifying against Maxwell, and hopefully trying
48:10
Speaker 1: to bring her to justice for what they say she
48:13
Speaker 1: did to them. In a sign that undercutting Jane's testimony
48:18
Speaker 1: is important to the defense, prosecutors said last week that
48:23
Speaker 1: Maxwell's team also sought a subpoena for Jane's brother. Jane
48:27
Speaker 1: testified that her brothers also knew Epstein during the 90s.
48:32
Speaker 1: So again, that's what it comes down to, folks. And
48:34
Speaker 1: that's what we can expect tomorrow when the defense begins
48:38
Speaker 1: to mount their case. It's going to be about the memory.
48:41
Speaker 1: It's going to be about manipulation. And like everything else,
48:46
Speaker 1: it's going to be about the money. We'll have to
48:51
Speaker 1: see where it goes from there. And we'll have to
48:54
Speaker 1: see what the prosecution does to try and counter that. But...
49:00
Speaker 1: There's an outline on what to expect in the next
49:02
Speaker 1: couple of days, few days. And I'm really interested to
49:07
Speaker 1: see if Maxwell herself takes the stand. I think we'll
49:11
Speaker 1: know a little bit more as tomorrow commences and we
49:15
Speaker 1: kind of get a feel for how the trial's going.
49:18
Speaker 1: I guess we'll see if the defense feels... it necessary
49:21
Speaker 1: to go for the big guns and put Maxwell on
49:25
Speaker 1: the stand. I think that if we see Maxwell take
49:27
Speaker 1: the stand, that will signal that things are not going
49:30
Speaker 1: the way that the defense wants them to go. But
49:34
Speaker 1: we'll have to see because one thing I have learned
49:38
Speaker 1: in the past three years of covering the Jeffrey Epstein
49:41
Speaker 1: and Ghislaine Maxwell case, is that every single time you
49:45
Speaker 1: think that there's an answer to a question, what you're
