- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: I love your Cleveland and I love you Ohio and I'm very pleasant welcome to the Thursday edition of the Big Play Cleveland show on YouTube live here on the Big Play Sports Network.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm frustrated along with Matt Fontana Ryan.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Tyler great to have you aboard.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's the start of the season.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: The Browns and the NFL.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: We've already started college Ohio State Texas.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to cover it all.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: A little bit on the Guardians as well.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Still hanging in there for that last wild card spot in very much alive, especially with that forthcoming series against the white socks for the divisional crown.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: All right fellas.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: I want to dive in.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: Now what we've started last week is we gave you
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: on four of the eight divisions in the NFL.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: We will conclude starting now with giving you the other four divisions.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then we'll get into college and the predictions on the NFL games after that.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: So let's get started.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: And what better way to start than with the AFC North?
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: And as we did last week, I'll start with the team.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying we'll finish last and work my way up.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, unfortunately, yeah, you guessed it.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Clevence of the coaches, Todd Munkin, first year, you know, since the 20, 26 season schedules were released, I've given the Browns the benefit of the doubt, I looked at that schedule, the overrunner on wins as you know is five and a half, and, you know,
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's winnable games on this schedule.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: I just so want to give the team the benefit of the doubt for instance, the home opener against Carolina, New York versus the jets, at Tennessee, at New Orleans, home to Las Vegas, home to Whitlanah, at New York versus the Giants, home to Indianapolis, those are all possible wins.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: If the Brown split the six games with Cincinnati Pittsburgh Baltimore, this could turn out to be a very encouraging season for our team, but then the reality sets in.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: If the Browns can't run the football, I don't care if it's Watson, Sanders or Tom Brady.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: We're in big trouble.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: all five offensive linemen on this team are new now i'm sure that they'll improve and eventually gel together as the season goes on but the quarterback situation is so up in the air and the offense is so questionable with what rookie receivers and i like both of them
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: But it makes it hard to believe that we can climb out of last place in this division.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: No, as I've said, the Garrett trade gives us the ammunition next year to get one of the top quarterbacks in next year's draft.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: But as far as this season is concerned, buckle up and get ready for yet another frustrating season.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think Bruce last place for me is also where the Browns are going to finish, but I don't see them being just a three-wind team.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: I do have this team on the over the five and a half.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: I have them in that six to seven range, but I just think it is about the competition that you're facing in the AFC North, even with Mike McCarthy, the Steelers, and I know we're going to talk about the rest of the lineup there, but it's just they're going to be 500.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a big bounce deck here for the Bengals.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: The Ravens are going to be good.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's the thing last in this division could be six and eleven one hundred percent seven and ten that could be last place uh... in our division and there is so much just on the unknown i do want the steps taken forward with the young guys in a right and i did this on the show yesterday bruise we want position group by position group are the quarterbacks better than a year ago
- 4:11[SPEAKER_02]: I actually think yes.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think the receivers are better than a year ago.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: The line is better.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: Now you're deficient on the D line.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think your tight ends are as good as last year, but still when you add it all up, this is a better football team.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: And that is what the Browns in this
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know, chapter of the rebuild on this step of the rebuild, which is what they're in, they are on schedule.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're right where they should be and what should that be this year, six to seven wins, development of the young guys and get it ready to go to go find the quarterback.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if anybody watched Wednesday's game where Sam Darrell goes down and Drew Lock goes in or because, oh my gosh, why can't we have that?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's because Seattle has a built team build your team and then a guy like Drew Lock could beat the defending AFC champions because that's what happened you have got a build a team like that and how does that happen you win you have good drafts you get good players in you improve the culture you win so that way I'm not saying quarterback doesn't matter because that'd be a loon statement.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: But what I'm saying is you can win with different types of quarterbacks.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's where we're at but I agree with you.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Browns are destined for that fourth place finish again.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I agree with you as I said as soon as I saw that schedule of the five and a half over under I like the over as well.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Third place.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm picking Pittsburgh.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think Matt already tipped his hat on that.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Mike McCarthy's first year.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: He reunites with Aaron Rogers from their days in Green Bay, but unlike those days, Rogers is fast becoming.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: an antiquated fossil, I mean, come on.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: The defense is still the forte of this team, and if and when Rogers gets hurt or fails, it will be interesting to see if they give Howard or Ellar a shot over the veteran Mason Rudolph, no playoffs for Pittsburgh this year.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: Number two, and I really labored between Cincinnati and Baltimore, I so.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: Wanted to predict Cincinnati.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, come on.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Do a Bruce.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: Come on.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, I didn't.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: I I Relented at the last minute because to me.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: This is a this season for Lamar Jackson.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'll get to that in a second since an Addy coach by Zack Taylor.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: Do you realize he's in his eighth?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not flying.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Fifty seven sixty five is this record with Joe Burrow healthy.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: This is a doer die season in my opinion for Taylor.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: The Bingo 16th regular season game is at home versus Baltimore.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: And that might decide the divisional winner.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: Our division is a two team race.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm slightly, ever, so slightly favoring the Ravens with their new coach, Baltimore's Jesse Minter.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now he takes over for John Harblah, who coached this franchise.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: You realize it was 18 years almost 40 years.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: That's incredible, too.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Lamar Jackson has been a big time underachiever in my opinion, despite his incredible talent and statistics.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: Since he entered the league, Baltimore's playoff record is three and six and no conference titles or Super Bowl appearances.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: Now, will this finally be the year until he proves, proves he can win the conference crown, the tag of under Achiever.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: will remain.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's the thing about Lamar.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: There's the little contract starting to get going to.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's got two years left, but there's an out after this year.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I just my issue with the Ravens has been the same.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: Where are the playmakers?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: The Derek Henry is Derek Henry, but again, how much can you keep getting out of a 32-year-old running back that runs the way that he does?
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't like them pains.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: They flowers.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't like that.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know what Marky Andrew seems like that drop in the playoffs.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: He's never really recovered.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's just been the issue with Baltimore that they continually just keep putting it on Lamar and go, well, you could do all this.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: You don't need star flight, you know, wide receivers.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: You know, defensively,
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: the the max cross be failed trade which then landed trade hundreds and that I don't think that helps I you guys you guys Ryan knows is I think trade hundreds and is just stream like overrated he's fine but he's not some game breaking past Russia that they think he's gonna be so that's my question on the ravens
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going sincey to win this division.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going sincey Baltimore, Pittsburgh, then the Browns.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: The reason on Cincinnati, the two issues they have addressed.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: Defensively, I think that Dexter Lawrence move was genius.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: It was perfect for what they needed.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: It gave them some good motivation.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to help fix up that defense.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then they addressed the offensive line.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: The offensive line is better.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: In Cincinnati, they're going to get more out of Chase Brown this year.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: Jamark T, I think another big year coming for Burroughs, long as he can stay healthy.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is Cincinnati's division, not to spoil the even the future part.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a good chance Cincinnati could be represented in the UFC in the super well coming up this year.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: Matt, I've said it all along that Cincinnati might indeed be the legitimate favor to win this division and I sold labored with this, but you know, I looked at both their schedules.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Baltimore has a much easier schedule to start the season heading into the Biden Cincinnati.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: If Cincinnati digs a hole for themselves and Baltimore takes advantage of their easy portion of the beginning, it's going to be tough for Cincinnati to come back and win the division.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: They could qualify as a wild car, but we shall see.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: And F.C.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: West is next.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: Let's take a look at the fourth place team, and not spend much time on Arizona.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: Michael Flores in his first year, three and 14 this team was a year ago, and Kyler Murray has gone, Jacoby Bersett takes over.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: That should tell you all you need to know.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: Number three, you might be surprised by this.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: See you, Adel.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: Mike McDonald, third year, 27, and 10 is his record.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: Seeing Donald go down last night, certainly has influenced my prediction.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: Here on the show today, we don't know yet how severe this injury is, but it could be not just the hip.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: That could be affecting his knee.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: There's other areas of the body for a quarter back the way he went down.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: But repeating as a Super Bowl champion is very difficult anyway.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's extremely rare and getting back to the Super Bowl after being there is extremely rare.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now their defense is phenomenal and they'll have to carry them if indeed Donald stays down for a while, but being in the same division with San Francisco and the Rams will take its toll.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Second place.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going with San Francisco.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle Shanahan.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: He's in his 10th year now.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm there to the bay.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: 91 72's this record 12 and 5 a year ago.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: In the playoffs, a beat Philadelphia 23 to 19, and then lost to Seattle, 41 to 6.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Remember?
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: A key will be for them to stay healthy.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: McCaffordy and everybody else has got to stay healthy.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: I got to go with the Rams number one, Sean McVay, 10th year 163, 12 and 5 a year ago after Miles Garrett's trade, the over under in wins in Vegas went from 10 and a half to 11 and a half for them.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: They lost the NFC Championship game to Seattle 31 to 27.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: What a fabulous pro playoff game that was.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Aaron Darnold, joining Garrett as the Edge Rushers, might turn out to be the best the NFL has seen since Carl Eller and Aaron Pay and Alan Page led Minnesota's purple people leaders under the two-league of Bud Grant.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: What a division, this is.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: Best division in football.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: I know the NFC North might be close, but I still am going to go with the West just because they have the super pulse lately to do it.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you Bruce Rams are number one.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: They are going to be the team to beat this year, and especially for a team that has the confidence to believe that they should be the number one team in football.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's where that's going to go.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: same thing I'm debating between Seattle and San Francisco just like you said the injuries were San Francisco they continue to mount up they seem cursed I don't know if it's the electrical substation I kind of believe that it might be at this point I don't know I'm actually gonna take Seattle to finish second in that division I will take the 49ers to finish third
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: But I think they will get three teams into the playoffs with those three B and the ones to make it yet again.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's just fun to watch that division.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: You have offense.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_02]: You have solid defenses on a few of those squads as well.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: You just dream of building teams like that.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: You would dream to have the roster that the Seattle has.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: Or say seven frankly, that the 49ers have two.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's incredible how they've done it.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think McVey and Shannon hand two of the best coaches in football.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: You got to put Mike McDonald up there.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: He is now one a Super Bowl.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: You see, and even in the game last night the decision making he calls the plays on defense, it's just a lot of fun to watch, but yeah, I'm going to go Rams.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'll go Seattle finish second and then I think San Francisco third.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: F.C.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: West, let's go to the West Coast, fourth place, Las Vegas, a clinch to be Akhen is first year.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, they were three and fourteen.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: It cost Pete Carroll his job after just one season.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the Raiders have had six different coaches now since 2021.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's been 23 years since the Raiders have won
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Kirk Cousins quarterback until number one pick for Nando Mendosa is ready and we'll have Matt figure out the odds of what week that I have it if you want to get to say you hold on to that bruise I've got it for you I've got you door to but I'll get that for you here in just a second
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: we do have news on same dollar actually just came down right now MRI this morning doctors are reviewing he will miss time but the team says they dodged a bullet with his hip injury so he's going to miss some time but as pertains right now he's just going to miss a little time dodged a bullet so we'll see how many it's probably sounds a couple of weeks here's the skeepard of that injury even though let's say he only misses two or three games yeah
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: He gets sacked again.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he gets sacked.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, get hit on that.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: One hundred percent.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: You'll be done for the year.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: All right, number three, the L.A. Chargers of Jim Harbaugh, who I'm predicting, will finish third, 22 and 14 is the record in his third year.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: They were 11 and six, both regular seasons that he's been there.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, in 2024, they lost a Houston 32 to 12 in the first round.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: And last year, to New England in the first round, 16 to three.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, the chargers,
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: bit log just shy they log just shy a 38,000 air mile.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's more than anyone in the league.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: And they finish with four of their last six games on the road.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: So will they be a little torn down?
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: Will they be a little fatigue?
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: Justin Herbert gets new joku, the former brown, and
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: Buffalo, Seattle, Denver, Kansas City, the LA Rams, Houston, and Baltimore, all in a row.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: Number two is Denver, Sean Payton, 33, 21, fourth year, won the division last year at 14 and three beat Buffalo and then lost in the Winkland and the playoffs, Boneyx, the quarterback, won 12.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: one score games in 25.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: They have a brutal schedule, and I'm looking at those one score wins is being something that would catch up to them.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: Now, am I going out of the limit taking Kansas City?
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, perhaps.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: And he read 14th year, 167 and 22.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: Kansas City had won this division
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: Every year since 2016 and till last year, Mahomes got hurt.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: Kansas City reached the...
- 16:27[SPEAKER_00]: The playoff, the Super Bowl, they reached the Super Bowl, five of six years.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: They won three of the five Super Bowl's.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: Mahomes is an elite proven championship talent.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_00]: He and Kelsey, one more time.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's a little bit of a gamble, but I like Kansas City to win that division man.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: I will agree with you.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: I like Casey to come back on that one.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll take them to start.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to agree with you on Denver.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think they can finish second in that division potentially another wildcard spot.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: I do not believe in that LA chargers.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: I just can't.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it's Harba.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: I am kind of a Justin Herbert defender.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: They, they, you just expect this out of lad Maconkey, Quentin Johnston.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like everybody talks about Amari and Hampton, but he was injured last year.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: I just, there is something I just don't like about the L.A. Chargers.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: There's some vibe I can't start it with her, but that's for sure.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, that's probably actually going to win any popularity.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: Ryan loves the Mike McDonald higher at offensive coordinator, though, which I agree.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think could kind of change some things there.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: But I am going to go with Denver for a second.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: They get jail and water.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: Date Bonyx broke his ankle.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: They'd have been
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: in the Super Bowl last year if he didn't break his ankle.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think that system was Sean Payton is perfect.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: I love the jail and while I'll trade for them.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: Like Portland Sutton is fine, jail and while I'll need to be in the number one receiver there, he will, I just, I think Kansas City too, they read did some things on the offensive line, which I like, some questions about Josh Simmons, former Buc guy, but we'll get to that.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: And the biggest thing for them.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: Sounds like her she rice is not going to be suspended.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: So at this point it would have come out it hasn't so he's going to be a full compliment for them.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know this season they trade away Trent McDuffie, but they end up getting monster or delaying in the first round.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: That defense I think is extremely underrated there for the Kansas City Chief.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: So again, I'm going to take him to win it now.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: We mentioned the Raiders I've got a four year Bruce.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh good.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: Overunder week eight.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: That Fernando Mendoza is the starting quarterback for the last day of the series.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm on the sideline with the clipboard to take notes and learn and practice on a daily basis.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'll buy that.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: What about Shidore?
- 18:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's week 11.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: by week.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's a whole different world.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: That that's a novel that we can explore.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: All right, and a CE.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go to the last division that we're predicting and it's so easy to predict the New York Giants has last place.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_00]: John Harbaugh has to rule over the Baltimore.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: First year, the Giants haven't been in the end.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: The Giants haven't been in one the NFC East.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: Since 2011.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: Think of that.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's the longest division title drought in this division.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: 4 and 13 a year ago, Jackson, Dark, their quarterback, good luck, John.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: Third place.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_00]: And second place, I'm qualifying this.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: I am flip-flopping between Washington and Dallas.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: I just...
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: either way, cut me some slack on this.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'll dress Washington first, Dan Quinn third year, 19 and 18, two years ago, they went 12 and 5 and they beat Tampa Bay and Detroit in the playoffs before losing to Philadelphia in the NFC championship game.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: But last year, injuries really hit them hard.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: 12, 5 and 12 record.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: lost eight games in a row, 9 out of 10, 11 out of 13.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: Jaden Daniel's quarterback is got to stay healthy.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's Dallas.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Schott andheimer seven nine and one last year.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's entering his second season.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: Pressure's on is usual in Dallas.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: Deck Press got quarterback.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: He leads the number two offense in the entire NFL.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: They're primed for a playoff run, but.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: They have to play nine games versus playoff teams from a year ago.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I just can't see them winning their vision.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: They could be third place second place.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: I got to go with Philadelphia, Seria, on a 60 year, 65, 30.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: Philly became the first repeat winner of the NFC East in 20 years.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: But.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: A first round loss to San Francisco left the fan base furious, can they win three division titles in a row?
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: I believe they can, but Jalen Hertz and company face a brutal schedule with a big fat target on their backs every single.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: week.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: This is the most different division that we will have, Bruce of the ones that we have done because I start in the basement of the NFC East.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be the Washington Commanders.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: Dan Quinn is the favorite to be the first fired coach this season in the NFL.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: There's just the stuff around Jade Nails, not just him about LSU and say, there's some questions about his leadership, his buy-in, his work ethic with the Washington Commanders, and I don't see a team that has vastly improved over the last couple of seasons, and they're just going to kind of run it back.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: I have questions with their running game.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like what they have to offer there.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: Ryan, who's the receiver that they got this off season?
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: Washington.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: Did they not they got rid of debo they brought it's to find eggs.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's what it was okay.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's to find eggs to do what I mean This this kind of I really this almost feels a little like the Lamar Jackson situation.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, oh, we got Jade nails.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do it all.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's not how this works
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: I know people like Dan Quinn.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't think he's a good head coach.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a fine defense coordinator.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's good.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: I had coach.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to take Washington to finish fourth in this division.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think they could have a mass of just blow up bad gear to be honest with you.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: In third, no doubt about it.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: I will take the Giants.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with Bruce.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really buy Jackson, Dart.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Ham Skataboo is all that good.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: Malik neighbors coming back off his injury.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see on that.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: But I think there are solid third place team there.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: will differ on the winner.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to take the cowboys.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think they get off that snide.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_02]: They get back to it.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the Eagles will make the playoffs no question about it.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a real resurgence happening now with the Dallas Cowboys.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: Shot and Hammer got his experience.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: I like some of the things they've done this off season.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be close.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Philly just unfortunately,
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: has kind of adopted this like las a fair regular season kind of mindset and they'll just turn on in the playoffs and fortunately they haven't been able to do that recently either.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll just take Dallas to win the division.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'll go Dallas and Philly.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: They both make the playoffs.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: Giants and commanders rounded out.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: When we come back, we're going to pick the top games featured in this first week of the NFL campaign.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: With the spreads, we'll be keeping track of this all season long.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: We'll bring Ryan in to make his predictions as well.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll include one college game, guess which one that will be.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's next on the big play.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: trouble here on the Thursday version.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: I should say here on YouTube.

- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: Visit smartchoicebass.com or call 844 gets smart
- 23:27[SPEAKER_02]: needs affordability.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: Right, and I had a lot of fun last year here on our show in handy capping all the games from week to week and keeping track.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: And now it's gonna be even better with matulining us.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: But before we get to the marquee games that's coming weekend, week one in the NFL.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: Last night, of course, the NFL season did open up.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't predict that in last week's show.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: But obviously Seattle winning the game because they're phenomenal defense, Donald going down after only five plays.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: And they still prevailed because of that fabulous defense, and I'm not a believer in Drake may yet.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: If three times it picked off in the fourth quarter, a Drew Lock replacing Donald as Matt reported.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's not as bad as they originally thought or what it could have been, but he's still going to miss some time.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: 13 to 10 was the final.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: The quarterback rating for May 54.9.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_00]: Ouch.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: It was in that interception on the last play or basically the last play when they're trying to drive in.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: And then you seem to feel go to go to over time.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: He did.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: And he was like, he had pressure on him all night.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they were in his face all night.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I know that there were a lot of questions surrounding that offensive line.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: and like there was a point that Chris Collins were at the mic's reaker on the broadcast they were talking about the offensive line were like oh you know will Campbell is healthy and then their center is back at center he was a guard but he's at his natural position the next play they just got demolished and Drake made his running for his life I really think there's gonna be a bad hang over this year for the for the New England Patriots and then for Seattle I mean Bruce that's the dream right you have this team
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: that you don't want your starter to go down, but your backup comes in and beat the defending AFC champions.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that it was incredible.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: Seattle is so good.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_02]: And it was a fun game to watch, like defensive struggle.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but, you know, it was great to kick the season off.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: We get Australia tonight, which will be awesome.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, it, I do love the NFL how they do that almost every year.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: So, bro, rematch.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's first game of the year.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: It just gets the hype gets the excitement going.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: wouldn't be something if the wingland doesn't make the playoffs this year and that's a very real possibility.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: You can see if you think that Jackson and Jacksonville will both make it out of the south.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: You've got three very real possibilities in the west.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody in the north, the thing with the north is they're probably going to beat up on one another.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: We know Buffalo's going to be in, but it's a real possibility.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: No wingland could miss the playoffs.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: The only thing is they get the gifts they keep on giving that is the jets in the Miami Dolphins.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: like both those teams like that should be four there's four free wins there but basically you know but again they still seven wins and gonna make the playoffs they still got to find some more for sure well born australia feature the game so you can't talk about air uh a travel and how many miles because both San Francisco and the Rams had to take the same flight pattern
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: San Francisco is getting 3.5 or 4, I'm going to take the 49ers in this game, I'll take the 4 points.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: I can see the Rams winning, but I think it's going to be a nail biter and it'll get a real big rating because it's going to be a close game between two of the NFL's best teams.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: I do like the 49ers to cover this game as well, Bruce.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: I know people are really hyped about Aaron Donald.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: He's not playing this game.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's not even on this trip.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: And the other interesting thing, the 49ers left last week.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: They've been in Australia all week.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: The Rams left yesterday.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: And they're literally flying in.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you've seen this plane.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_02]: They chartered.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: They basically made a plane for them to go down there.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: Every player can sleep the whole ride there.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: They are pressurizing the cabin where they're flying at a certain altitude.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: They're lowering the altitude basically in the play.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: I say that sells obviously Stan Crunky cut a fat check for his team to be as prepared as they possibly could to go to this game.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: They're literally flying and staying on Pacific time zone time playing the game and then coming straight home.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: Will that give an edge?
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but I'm kind of with you Bruce on two things.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: That is when the fluky things can happen.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's the first game of the year, just the weirdness of all that.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: Then you add in the Australia.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: I just lean the dog.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Rams are going to win this game.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: But I have a gut feeling on Thursday night games.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: I like the dog and the under.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: On almost every Thursday night game, just because it's weird and it's fluky.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: I will apply the same thing maybe tenfold because it's in Australia.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take the dog and the under.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan yeah almost you guys actually so we're all taking the 49ers.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: I just think the fact that the 49ers are there a week earlier and you're talking about going all the way to Australia That's a little bit crazy.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: You mentioned it's week one Aaron Donald is not going to be playing.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like any team has a home field advantage You're talking about two teams with Super Bowl aspirations week one if you're going to give me more than a field goal.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take the points for the 49ers
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: Mosguerda and practice either in price and I know who got there and be fine, but he didn't practice in a month either.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: All right, the next game is the Atlanta Falcons with former Browns coach Kevin Stephansky traveling to Pittsburgh, you take on Mike McCarthy in the Aaron Rogers reuniting.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: Pittsburgh's a minus three and a half.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: I like Pittsburgh to cover.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: I just think Atlanta stinks and they're in for a long year for Stephansky.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: This is a stinky game to me.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why, but I will take the Steelers minus that three and a half.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: Although, I just I don't know if I trust the Steelers to cover this game, but I cannot pick the Falcon, so I will take the Steelers too.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going to take the Steelers as well.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want anything to do with the Falcon's again.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's a contender.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: You're talking about a team that might be a sneaky number one overall, probably not, but a top five pick right there with no quarterback.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: And it comes to fansky offense, where you kind of need a specific type of quarterback to run that system, right?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Buffalo is either a one or a one and a half point favorite, depending on who you prefer.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_00]: They're traveling the Houston to take on CJ Stroud and Company.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: I like the bills.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a real important year for Allen.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take, I'll take Buffalo here.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I want to present taking them.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: I know Houston again, I do believe as a good playoff team and we'll be consistent in that, but I just 100% I'm taking Buffalo on this one.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, I don't even need to give an explanation for that.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: We'll roll the next one.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_00]: So far, we're all in sync.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: Something's got to give here.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: They want to hear some controversy.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Tampa Bay is Etz Cincinnati.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: And the fingers are a three and a half point favorite.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now, May, Mayfield, just signed a three year extension for $165 million.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_00]: That translates into $55 million a year.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's the third, he becomes the third highest.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: paid quarterback in the entire NFL along with Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Stafford and Jordan Love.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Love in my opinion shouldn't be in that category, but he is.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: Number one by the way, if you're curious as my homes.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_00]: Number two is Prescott.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: You think that Mayfield is a franchise quarterback and should be paid as the third highest in the NFL.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: I've got to take Cincinnati here minus three and a half to start their quest for the divisional ground.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I hate to do it again, but I can't be on Cincinnati to be able to say, like, oh, yes, it's good to be all these things the losers came.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_02]: Bruce going back to the last last season, Tampa in their last 10 games last year.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: They only covered one.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: They were one and nine against the spread to end the season a year ago.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: Give me Cincinnati.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: They've won three straight going back.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a long history.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_02]: They don't play all that off them.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: But I'll take Cincinnati to minus that number.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'd love since he and I don't know if we're new how far the future we're going to get, but I'm taking Tampa Bay to cover the spread at least right like Cincinnati week one never plays well in the Jopero era last year shouldn't want beat us against the Browns then you go to the year before that reason they kept out of the playoffs because they lost to the Patriots that you're before when they were awful at home in Cincinnati so I'll buy that trend.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: They don't start off hot sure they win the game, but I'll take Tampa to cover.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: NFC North Green Bay Traveling to Minneapolis to play the Vikings Minnesota is a one and a half point favorite you know, a lot of people don't realize what a rivalry this is because the western portion of the state of Wisconsin those people are you know Minneapolis isn't that deep into the state of Minnesota from the border from Wisconsin so people live in the western the upper web western portion of Wisconsin are Minnesota fans
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: uh, the rest of the state, of course, Green Bay, but I like Minnesota in this game minus the one and a half guys who all differ.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to take Green Bay on that one.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_02]: I just think again for for the Packers, this Josh Jacobs situation.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: There's news coming out this morning.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_02]: As competitive as that NFC North is going to be, I
- 32:07[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's week one.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_02]: This is like a must-witten game for the Packers like 100% for Minnesota I know they're gonna feel good about Kyler Murray kind of being their system quarterback with Kevin O'Connell I'm just gonna lean more on Green Bay's offense.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_02]: They stoned at Micah Parsons back, which I think this could have turned out to be a bit of a high scoring game I think it's a big year for Christian Watson in that receiving core They're gonna get Tucker craft back don't forget if you're doing a part of it I look Tucker craft anytime touched on this weekend marked that down
- 32:34[SPEAKER_02]: But he's back off his injury.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take the packers to cover outright one.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm I'm going biking.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: I really think the Vikings win this one.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm down on Greed Bay this year.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think like this will be the ultimate litmus test.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: If Kyler Murray goes ahead and balls out from Minnesota, right, like Kevin O'Connell's kind of reputation as that quarterback genius offensive guru will kind of stay the same.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Kyler's talented enough when you put him in to kind of you give him a, they don't do that.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't kind of do the ear rage.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: Just get the ball out.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think they're going to try some people without Michael without Josh Jacobs.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't trust them.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think Minnesota wins this one in cover.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I saw Jordan love hand the Browns one of their few victories last year, so I can't tell you All right, next is Denver at Kansas City, and This is gonna be a real good game.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: Kansas City's either a two and a half or a three point favorite I'll give the two and a half and take the chief space done my prediction.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: They're gonna win this division
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I also picked them to win the division.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: I might take Denver plus.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'd like it at three.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take Denver plus the points there.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: You've got them.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a green if you map.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: No explanation needed for me there.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_00]: next and last but not least in the NFL.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: The Cleveland Browns are at Jacksonville.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting nine.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_00]: If you take Jacksonville, it's eight and a half.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_00]: I like Jacksonville a lot.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know Ryan and I got into it last year.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_00]: Matt, I was a big believer in Jacksonville even after Hunter went down and it's sure enough they came through and won the division.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: Ryan just could not believe it all.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_00]: all season long.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_00]: Just kept disputing me.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: And so that was one of my more gratifying victories over Ryan.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: But in this game, I'm going to give the Browns.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wearing their colors.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give the Browns a benefit of the doubt and say at least we're going to cover in this game.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_02]: Browns cover baby.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go too many too many Browns of one three straight against Jacksonville and Trevor Lawrence and to Sean Watson has never lost a Jacksonville in his career.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think we're winning that game.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: We're getting an interception off Trevor Lawrence.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's just what is going to happen on Sunday.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think without a doubt eight and a half is too much.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_02]: So I will take the Browns to cover that number.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: I was funny enough, Bruce, after all you said that I'm taking Jacksonville to the end.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: Good, I didn't want all for him to say good, I think you're right.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean seriously, week one, I think Jacksonville is going to be home in.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: They're probably like out of the, all the people that won their division last year, like probably people don't doubt him to repeat, right?
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like everybody's picking the Texans.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Liam Cohen got a lot to prove again.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think I had a great first year.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm actually bought into him after I misjudged him.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to Jacksonville.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think this first couple of weeks can be rough for our brothers.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I'm going to start with Ryan on this one.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: Well, one and only college game that we're going to hand to cap this week is our Ohio State Buckeye.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's number one in the country taking on number four Texas.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: Texas is actually a one and a half point favorite Manning versus saying how do you go in this one, Ryan?
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I kind of talked about this with Matt, but I am going Texas.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think they have an opportunity to have both the best offense and the best defense in the country.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that takes a ton of pressure off of arch-maning compared to what we were last year.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think you got all that experience.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo, one of the best defense, or excuse me, one of the best receipts rooms in the entire country.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then you bring Hollywood Smellers with Relic Brown in that backfield.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a ton to handle.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm worried about Ohio State's defense, or excuse me, Ohio State's defense.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: against Texas's offense in this specific matchup wasn't the case for me last year and I think it being in Texas kind of gives them that boost that Ohio State got last year.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: I got Texas winning in a close one.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's gonna be a lot of points, not that 14.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: I mean again, Texas scored two touchdowns and two games against Ohio State with that defense.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: This Ohio State team is not going to offensive lead team.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: For last year was a defensive lead team, even with Jeremiah Smith,
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: You and now have this offense that has no excuse that should be able to put up 35 plus points.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: I really frankly I'm almost any defense.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna go ahead and say that the issue that I have with Texas's defenses Yes, Colin Simmons is one of the best past rusher's in college football He is going to feast on Philip Daniels the right tackle for Ohio State.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: They're gonna have to put a tight end over there I had some questions about the running back past protection to I only get too much into it But I'll just put it this way.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to double
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: Jeremiah Smith.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: They do not have a corner.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_02]: They have a young guy.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: He's a sophomore.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: He's a former five star recruit.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's his first year starting in Cade Phillips.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_02]: I imagine he's going to shadow Jeremiah Smith.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's just going to open up Brandon and it's in Devon, McCune and even Brock Boyd and Chris Henry.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: The other thing about the defense, Q, quad-resault, he did not play in week one.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's a transfer, he's coming in.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I look at our two D tackles that we got in the transfer portal, James Smith, John Walker, those guys feasted.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: I know it was Ball State, but they were up the field.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: And Kenyatta Jackson is still there.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: Kenyatta Jackson was all over Archmany.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: The Ohio State puck guys last year against Texas, pressured Archmany on 35% of his drop-backs.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_02]: He's running for his life.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: Now they only got one sack.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: But they were in his face, I can't not do it.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: Give me the buck eyes to win the game on the road.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: In a shootouts, 40, 42, 40, what's up like that?
- 37:50[SPEAKER_02]: Something like that, I don't know how that adds up.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm of the belief, anytime you give our Ohio State buck eyes points, you're asking for trouble.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's fair.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: The only bad thing Ohio State's only one in four in their last five games when they've been a dog.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're dog here, national attention, losing as they did to Indiana, and then in the playoffs, I like to book ice here.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_00]: And who do you like as far as high school stars in the great state of Ohio?
- 38:18[SPEAKER_00]: This is a new feature.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_00]: We're starting on the big play show on the Thursday edition.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_00]: Matt take it.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: it is so exciting, Bruce, we're going to crown the best North East Ohio College football player.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be high school football player of all time.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: We've had some goats, the Robert Smiths of the world, the Mitch Trebiskees.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: You got to get your nomination in though.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: So what we want is you got to comment on just the player and the high school we're going to start with it.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: I know we've already got more than 32 entries in this one.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: There's no question about it.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: But I just we want to just get as many as we can.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: Brian Hoyer of St. Ignatius and you got to remember we're just doing their high school career.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a lot of rubbish meant two-time Mr. Ohio.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: He's I would say probably the favorite in this whole thing to get it done But get those votes in get the nominations in we'll get to the 32 bracket and then the fans themselves will pick it as we kind of Whittle it down in a college basketball-esque tight bracket.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I'll make the cut as a former Brunswick tight end But we'll see if I get in there or not
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: Now, there's much better players than me.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: So get your nominations in, it's going to be really exciting.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see how it goes.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: Check our social pages, so just follow us on Twitter, on Instagram, even the YouTube chat.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's anywhere that you get big play.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: We'll take your submissions and we'll get that rolling here in a couple of weeks, which is going to be a lot of fun.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_02]: Gotta get some guards coming up, plenty coming your way, training, Fontana, ride Tyler right here, I'm big play.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: All right, the big play Cleveland Show continues.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: The Thursday edition here, live on YouTube.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: Great to have you aboard Bruce Brennan, Matt Fontana, Ryan Tyler.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: We shift our attention to college football and before we get to the new Top 25, the Associate of Press, Top 25 and look at some of the games from last week and predict some of the games from this week, we have to talk about this Michigan Western Michigan controversy.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, John Steinbrecker, who's a good friend of mine, I've interviewed him many times over the years.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: The commissioner of the match did the right thing in protesting as he did.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_00]: The NCAA, however, their national coordinator of officials, runs snad grass, announced that a new policy has been
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: Incorporated because of this and I quote the clock embedded in the broadcast feed will serve as the official clock for a replay reviews In this game it did not and that's the controversy So they were supposed to have these clocks in sync something like 80 85 minutes before they kick off and
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: for whatever reason they were in sync.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: They were fraction of a second off.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: So what we saw in the live broadcast was the broadcast clock showing zero when that Western Michigan kid touched the ball coming from out of bounds in the end zone.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: But the replay and the official saw
- 41:08[SPEAKER_00]: the official clock if you will and that did show there was a fracture there was a second left when that uh western Michigan kid jumped in.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: Now I want to say this too um the college football playoff committee they can't reverse this this outcome of this game uh the NCAA can't do it
- 41:36[SPEAKER_00]: If Western Michigan goes undefeated the rest of the way and they're one of the non-power conference schools that's going to be considered for the playoffs, I think this has got to be taken into serious consideration and that loss should not work against them because for all intents and purposes they won the game guys.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: They won.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: They won that football game.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: There's zero date debate and doubt in my mind.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_02]: And as much as I hate Michigan, well documented here, they stormed the field because, of course, they did.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: But it was, it was just, sometimes I had somebody say this to me personally.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: My career when I was doing engineering and they was sometimes you can't fix something until it breaks.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how to show you how to fix that mat until it breaks.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think even with all the cameras and the clocks and all this other stuff, they found a flaw.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_02]: They found something that was broken and they figured out how to fix it.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I was at the cost of Western Michigan.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: But you mean, everybody that watched that game sat there and know that Western Michigan beat the university of Michigan at the big house.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: Awesome.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now, they don't get that fanfare.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to quite go down in history the same way.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_02]: But I think about it almost like that Armando Galleraga perfect game.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well, no, he threw a perfect game.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: He's not in history books, but you know what?
- 42:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know Western Michigan beat Michigan.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_02]: We all watched it.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: That aside, I'm with you.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: They go on to feed it.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: They'll be in the college for about playoff.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_02]: I want to present expect that to be how it goes.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_02]: And again, it's unfortunate.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes you have to have something break before you know how to fix it.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Michigan now becomes the highest rank team to drop out of the AP top 25 after the after a win since 1989.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm since 1989, Michigan joins Nebraska, who was ranked number 19 and 2014.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_00]: They lost a big knee state.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_00]: Also in 2014 North Carolina right number 21 at the time lost to San Diego state and in 2009 Iowa Right number 22 lost to northern Iowa all right.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get to the top 25 and talk about the Buckeye's 56 and three When over ball state We've already predicted the Texas game after the Buckeye's game against Texas
- 43:52[SPEAKER_00]: We're at Iowa on October the 3rd at Indiana on October 17th at Southern Calactobra 31st.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_00]: We host Oregon on the 31st and then we get Michigan at home.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's a tough schedule, Matt.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, at this point, you have, including taxes, you're going to have five ranked opponents, preseason, basically, at this point.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_02]: But I fully expect any candidate to be ranked.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think USC is going to be a top 10 team by the time we face them.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_02]: Oregon should be around there.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, just looking at that resume, I don't know, too many schools that, again, just projecting here, they're going to face three top 10 teams at any given point in the season
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: and it's going to, that's where the committee comes in and understands, like, yes, that's going to be tough.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: Indiana, they don't face anybody.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: They have nobody.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: The biggest game is Ohio State.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_02]: Ohio State.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_02]: I could sit here and say Texas might be the biggest game Indiana might be the biggest game Oregon might be the biggest game.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_02]: All these other teams have won one Ohio State's got three legit games that I could look at and say this might be the biggest one of the season and I just think, you know, it's going to be on Julian saying this year.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: I know what Jeremiah Smith is.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: There's a question thing offensive line, this has got to be the year for Julian saying and I love this from Ryan Day this week because somebody asked a question of when do you elevate that quarterback basically from game manager to we're going to go win games because of you and he said you got to do that in the off season.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_02]: and it sounds like those are the steps that Julian saying has taken at this point where he's not just out there to be that game manager, he's going out there to make winning plays and Ohio State is going to win games because of him this year.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this upcoming game with Texas is also going to be a very interesting comparison between sand and manning that will affect the Heisman, the early Heisman thinking.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_00]: George's number two this week, they moved up one spot from number three, following their slaughter of Tennessee State.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if any team in the SEC,
- 45:54[SPEAKER_00]: has the best chance based on schedule to go undefeated before the SEC championship.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a Georgia Bulldogs.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: They play Oklahoma at home.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_00]: they're at Alabama and that's really it, um, Georgia.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think is in a real ideal situation, especially when I give it a schedule in the opponents of some of these other SEC teams, Matt.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, they avoid Texas in this one, um, you know, they avoid, I mean, they have Ole Miss a little bit later, but I don't think that Ole Miss team is going to be the same.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_02]: you know by the time that comes around so they avoided a lot of the big heavy hitters and then again I think you would say it was Alabama as as their big heavy hitter, but I don't know really know what the crimson tide are going to be this year either.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, Georgia out of all of them I really I very much do like their their chances to go into feed it like you said
- 46:41[SPEAKER_00]: Notre Dame is up from four to three following their 41 to 13 victory at Lambo Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about this before.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: They've got two tough games.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_00]: They get Miami at home.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: They play at BYU on October 17th, but the Irish are in a prime position to make the playoffs this year after being terribly unjustifiably snubbed a season ago.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, especially if you know they're going to finish the top 12 they've got a written in there they'll be in there.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there's going to be any question about that.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: Number four is Texas the Rupp one spot following a 59 to 7 win over Texas state.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_00]: But let's look at Texas's schedule after the Ohio State game.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: They play at Tennessee.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_00]: Tennessee's a dangerous team this year, especially when they play there at home.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_00]: Their at Texas has to play Oklahoma.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's the red red red red red red red red red red.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_00]: They host Florida.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know about Florida.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll see him.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_00]: They host Mississippi and Trinidad is still, you know, he's a four at LSU.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about LSU at the moment and at Texas A&M.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: Those are the two for tough teams, man.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, tough games for Texas.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_02]: and you're in death Valley for LSU and you go to college station to go face Texas A&M 2 so those games on the road and again they're at Knoxville like you said that's a tough game against Tennessee.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you like I think Texas is going to make the playoff but I think they're going to do it with three losses.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think what I'm going to be Saturday to high state.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to have less you know last year with Alabama with three losses to not deserve to be in there over no today.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I agree with that.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I want to present a degree.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I just think for Texas.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I don't really think I just, I don't really want to keep our chat.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: Well, all right.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_00]: Number five is Indiana.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_00]: They're up one spot this week.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, from number six after they're 52 to 16 victory over North Texas.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Hoover making his debut.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to do some work on defense that was such a phenomenal defense a year ago, but again, this is, you know, North Texas.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_00]: So he's got time to certainly get their act together on the defensive side of the ball, but they play Ohio state.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_00]: At Michigan, they host Southern Cal and they play at Washington.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know how good Washington's going to be yet matte, but they're kind of a sweeper now that they're in the big 10 this year.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: a little bit, you know, again, I think USC is going to be elevated.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: They'll be a top 10 team, you know, later in the season, so that'll be a but really Bruce, that'll be it.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_02]: You'll have two top 10 opponents.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's it Ohio State and USC if they can even get there.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty easy for the who's my only thing.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: I like the Josh Hoover move for Indiana.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's going to fit that system.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_02]: Charlie Becker, their wide receiver is going to be know that name.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we know him from a year ago.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be very good.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I don't, I just question the hunger.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I know it's dignity and people are going to yell at me and say, like, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 49:55[SPEAKER_00]: And a 34 to 27 lucky victory against Boisey.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, lucky.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_00]: That was a Boisey state.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_00]: It really played a great game.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_00]: And, or again, I'm telling you more, what did I say to you guys?
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't impressed with him in the playoffs.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see how he plays this year.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure he's gonna have some romp victories and he's still gonna be touted by NFL scouts.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_00]: Watch the Browns, I'll take him, he'll be another bust in our history.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_00]: But, uh, Oregon has a brutal schedule too.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_00]: They play at U.S.C.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_00]: At Illinois, that could be a trap, trap game.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: At Ohio State, they host Michigan and they host Washington.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for Oregon and this one, it was kind of weird because they didn't, it's not like they had a bunch of turnovers or even gave up.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it was really, they didn't give up a bunch of yardage either.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think they gave up a total of like, it was under 300 yards, but there was a one scoring game.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: I just think they came out flat.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_02]: They just came out, which is kind of funny because everybody talks about Dan landing, being this hard ass and everything.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_02]: It looked like Oregon is just like, yep.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_02]: and we're at home and it's fine we'll get it done and then boys you got to lead it half time and you're sitting like what are you doing over here woke up in the second half i'm i i'll give them the benefit of the doubt for second and just say i feel like they that was just a slow start at home and they just thought they're going to roll over boys all right i'm not we'll see we'll see the down especially with that schedule number seven's my amy expected win over stand for forty five to six pretty impressive they're only challenges going to be the game itself then guys
- 51:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's, I mean, that's the thing, the ACC right now we're talking about this, too.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: We're us in there.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: We're trying to debate the big 12, what's left of it versus the ACC.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, there was no debate.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I was sitting there and when we really ran through the ACC, I was like, All right, Ryan, you got me.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_02]: It is Miami.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_02]: Clemson is obviously nothing.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_02]: Duke won it last year.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: So that's, I guess, pressure in a way on Miami, we're just
- 51:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna they're only gonna get one team this year and it's gonna be my yeah, like that's it But is that not pressure then a Mario crystal ball like you literally have this path almost ended to you Yeah, he can't have him best not screw it up.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I can't have any here come right number Ray
- 52:01[SPEAKER_00]: As the beloved of LSU Tiger, of Lane Kiffin, up three spots from last week, following a 51 to 10, a annihilation of Debo Sweeney.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_00]: Debo, by-by-debo, this has got to be it for him.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's really feeling the pressure after returning to South Carolina following this human
- 52:23[SPEAKER_00]: humiliating loss.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_00]: And boy, I want to tell you that.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_00]: That game, that was a statement by Kiffin.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_00]: I found it fascinating.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_00]: Before the game, they showed the video of Sweeney and Kiffen meeting at midfielder laughing and poking one another, considering this controversy over, you know, Kiffen trying to pull pros from the pro ranks and kids from Mississippi who were committed to Clemson and they're yucking it up and all, but oh, I couldn't what a statement.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_00]: Certainly for Kiffin and the start of his career at LSU and National Championship contender, but I think it's even a bigger statement about Sweeney.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's where I like, I want to sit here and be like, ooh, look at LSU, Sam Levitt looked fine.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if they could really live with him being there leading Russia this season.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_02]: That game was a complete and utter mismatch.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_02]: Clemson did not deserve to be on that field.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_02]: It was embarrassing to be honest with you.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_02]: So like for LSU,
- 53:26[SPEAKER_02]: Good.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_02]: Great.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_02]: You beat up on a team that borderline looks like a one double A school at this point.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't read too much in LSU.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be filling number one.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_02]: I do think Sam Levits a really good player.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_02]: I still need to see a little bit more maybe out of their skill position.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, again, I just, what are you going to do?
- 53:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it was Clemson.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_02]: You were just going to beat the haughtom.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_02]: That's what they do.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_00]: view the games this week to keep an eye on besides Ohio State in Texas is Oregon at Oklahoma State Oklahoma State's got this pro prospect quarterback That's to make her Oregon with more in company big 23 and a half point favor.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and like that's the thing, you know with Oklahoma State just you know I watch their game a little bit this weekend too You see that because they brought a lot of those guys from North Texas where the coach was from
- 54:05[SPEAKER_02]: They look like some guys that were playing in North Texas like a little different when you get into some even the big 12 what's left of it You know difference, but I messed up acres of guy that a lot of people are gonna have their eye on just for the draft coming up
- 54:15[SPEAKER_00]: Arizona said be why you now the be why you was a couple of teams that had favorites to win the big 12 conference They're right number 15.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_02]: They're only a seven and a half point favorite over the Wildcats and they're in Provo 2 Which is at home, which I thought is a little crazy.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's one of my favorite games this weekend give me give me the Coopers minus that seven and a half Alabama minus ten and a half on the road at Kentucky.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't like that bread isn't even more
- 54:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I kind of like Kentucky in this game.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_02]: I hope that will be them, but I like them to cover.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_02]: If you give me more, if you want to give me more on an all on Alabama, I'll take the Wildcats plus the point 10 to season 11 and half point favorite at Georgia Tech, just mention Georgia Tech.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, we don't, but I do think the volunteers cover and that one.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_00]: on the road, huh?
- 54:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_00]: I was state at Iowa.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_00]: This is a big rivalry.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: Kurt Ferris and company has lost a while.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_00]: I was state at times.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: But the Hawkeyes are ranked number 21.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're a big 14 point favorite in this game at home.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take the Hawkeyes at home.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_02]: And this one.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_02]: I just think I was state.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if they'll ever quite recover from the Matt Campbell.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's good.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_00]: I shouldn't say ever like you'll get there again, but he just took so many those players to Penn State, I think it's a mere rough go for the side last but not least, what is going to happen in Ann Arbor, Michigan with the Wolverines getting five and a half at home following this humiliation against Western Michigan.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to go down on the books as a win, but it was a loss, and we all know it.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_00]: Just like remember, Appalachian State of New York, I do, Bruce.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_00]: And the Oklahoma soon, this is a challenge for Oklahoma, because you know, Michigan has got to come out blazing, winning him in company.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_00]: This is a real pressurized game that they play well against Oklahoma.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: Five and a half, is that, ooh.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_02]: Love Oklahoma.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_02]: Give me John material, baby, all day and that one.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_02]: Breast under was not good.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why people haven't figured that out yet.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_02]: He's not good.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_02]: Give me the sooner's plus to be.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_02]: Give me sooner's outright.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take him out.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_02]: You give me the points.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take him, but I'm all right.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_00]: When we come back, we'll look at the guardians.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're still hanging in there.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_02]: Got to tell everybody speaking to the Guardians.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_02]: We got something pretty awesome for everybody.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: Big plate cleavage teaming up with the Guardians to give away four field box tickets to see the guards take on the athletics Friday, September 18th at Progressive Field.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_02]: Entering is going to be so easy.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_02]: All you need to do is be watching the Big plate cleavel live show next Wednesday at 125.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_02]: During the show, we're going to give you a special word to type in the YouTube chat.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone that gets that word in the chat, you're entered.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_02]: randomly picked the winner right then in there.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_02]: So if you haven't subscribed yet to the Big Play Cleveland YouTube channel, do it, subscribe there, turn on the notifications so you don't miss any of the shows, and you want to be in next Wednesday at 125 for the live chat for your chance to win.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_02]: And if you want to guarantee yourself a spot at the ballpark, because we're getting down to it.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: The final regular season home stand tickets are still available.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_02]: CLEGuardians.com or through the ballpark MLB ballpark app.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_02]: For field box tickets, guards A's be watching live.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_02]: Next Wednesday, 125 in the afternoon, we'll give you the word, we'll put it in the chat.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_02]: Someone watching the big play Cleveland show is gonna be winning these tickets good luck and we'll see you next Wednesday.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_02]: We got some guards chat, we'll do it next.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_00]: win one lose two win two lose one that's been the trend with the guardians but somehow some way they're hanging in there following last night's nine to five lost a ball a more Cleveland seventy four and seventy three still a game up on Toronto in the wild card race for that last spot Texas a game in a half back ball number with the win is still three back and Minnesota were barely barely hardly hanging in their at four and a half remember.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_00]: In the wild card hunt, it's a lot harder to make up ground than in your own division because you have so many more contenders playing against one another and it's harder to pick up games.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now, eight run third inning did in Foster Griffin and he went only two and a third, eight earned run seven hits, two walks in this game.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_00]: The Guardians have three with Minnesota coming up this weekend.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_00]: then the big series with the Chicago white socks.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, we're only two games behind them.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_00]: They lost last night, too.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_02]: That, you know, that's the thing, Bruce, the bothers me is that their loot, like the white socks are playing horrible right now.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_02]: And we've not been able to really take advantage of it.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's what's bothering me the most about this team right now.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, at three, which are called, that's going to be very, very.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's everything.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then three with the athletics.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_02]: uh... at home uh... three on the road at Boston that will be brutal because the red socks are in the hunt obviously for a wild card and then three to conclude the season of cancer city who's going to love playing the role of spoiler yeah and that's uh... the losses hurt me more than the winds help me if that makes sense bruised like the winds i'm like okay i feel good the losses i am devastated i'm completely utterly deficit and last night you know you get chased a lot
- 59:13[SPEAKER_02]: Good lord and plow.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's like what is that?
- 59:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't want to be reactionary But now I'm really sitting here going do we need slates to Kony back in the starting rotation like cantilo foster griffing You can't have this byby at this point like it's just so frustrating and so I'm saying Bruce the losses
- 59:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're hurting me more than the wins make me feel good.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's I'm neurotic with this team right now.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's driving me insane.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_02]: The only good news is you've had the twins are gone now.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like they've fallen completely back.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_02]: The tigers are falling off.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's you got to worry about the blue jays.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I guess the Orioles to a small degree.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_00]: But it's you and the blue jays are three out though in the wild.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly the wild card.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_00]: Being the wild card.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_00]: But all the more reason, based on what you at the F. were mentioned from your comment, Matt.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking forward to next year if we have a next year because this team is got so much potential It's just incredible But indeed it is frustrating to have one win two losses two wins one luck and that's been the trend there for how long now So let's see what happens this weekend first with Minnesota in a big series next week with the white socks by our show next Thursday We'll know exactly where we stay
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_02]: Are we in good to me in first place Bruce and we speak next week?
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that I hope so that's so how about densel ward now a minority owner with the Cleveland Guardians He joins Travis Kelsey Paul people and he invest money in the Cleveland Guardians becomes a minority owner Under Paul Dolan and David Blitzer who will be taking over for Dolan in a couple of years
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's from the Ardonia High School in Macedonia.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, the star at Ohio State and a pick of the, what was number four pick I believe is the Browns of the 2018 draft five time pro bowler.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_00]: Now an investor and minority owner and a cleaford guardian.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's what else is though.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think really cool story and then you obviously talk about the blitzer involvement because that's a lot of people Brewster jumping on this going.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_02]: He's more and more and more and more involved.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_02]: We know that's common will see how it goes, but I just think it's cool for him to be a part of it now, you know, being here.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I think especially, I don't think it's coincidence that he waited until now to sign this because there was a question if he'd still be here beyond this season, but he signed that contract extensiones here.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_02]: He jumps in with the guard, so I think it's pretty cool.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's all the time we have for this version of the Big Play Cleveland show.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Bruce Dredon on behalf of Matt Fontan and Ryan Tyler.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_00]: Hope you enjoyed it.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_00]: Really look forward to next Thursday when we're all back with you.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_00]: Talk a lot about the pros and college and baseball as well.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_00]: So until then, as always, so most importantly, you remember.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_00]: I love you, Ohio.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I love you, Cleveland.
