Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, Discos, need a little more Disgraceland in your life,
- 0:05Speaker 1: just to touch, to get you through. Yeah, me too.
- 0:08Speaker 1: This is the podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome
- 0:12Speaker 1: to Disgraceland, the after Party. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode,
- 0:30Speaker 1: a little thing we like to call the after party.
- 0:32Speaker 1: This is the show after the show, the party after
- 0:34Speaker 1: the party, the bridge to get you from one full
- 0:36Speaker 1: episode of Disgraceland to the other. The backyard, to dig
- 0:39Speaker 1: into the dirt, our mission to uncover the truth, to
- 0:42Speaker 1: confront the myth, to reclaim the story. On this bonus episode,
- 0:45Speaker 1: we are discussing me as a potter of the gets.
- 0:48Speaker 1: We're also talking about the new report on Kurt Cobain's
- 0:51Speaker 1: cause of death, my Super Bowl hangover that won't go away,
- 0:53Speaker 1: and we get into your emails, comments, dms, and as
- 0:56Speaker 1: always a whole lot of rosie. This is the podcast
- 0:58Speaker 1: for the musically obsessed, the outsiders, the independent thinkers who
- 1:02Speaker 1: know that the best history is the history that gets buried.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Disgrace Land is where I tell the stories they didn't
- 1:07Speaker 1: want told, the kind you'll end up telling someone else.
- 1:09Speaker 1: All right, Discos, let's get into it. Mia Zapata, lead
- 1:30Speaker 1: singer for the Seattle band The Gits, died on July seventh,
- 1:34Speaker 1: nineteen ninety three, at twenty seven years old, just shy
- 1:37Speaker 1: of her twenty eighth birthday. She was murdered tragically, and
- 1:42Speaker 1: it's hard to imagine had Mia lived, how her music
- 1:46Speaker 1: in life might have evolved. Mia was both inspired and inspiring,
- 1:52Speaker 1: in part of a growing scene and born of a
- 1:55Speaker 1: generation steeped in rebellion. Whatever road she might have pursued
- 2:00Speaker 1: creatively or personally, I'm sure it would have been compelling
- 2:04Speaker 1: for us as music fans. Her friend Kurt Cobaine would
- 2:09Speaker 1: be dead less than a year later, on April fifth,
- 2:13Speaker 1: nineteen ninety four, from a self inflicted shotgun wound, but
- 2:17Speaker 1: it's hard not to attribute the musician's debilitating heroin addiction
- 2:21Speaker 1: as a cause of his demise as well. In two
- 2:24Speaker 1: thousand and two, grunge avatar Lane Staley from Alice in Chains,
- 2:28Speaker 1: he fell victim to his own heroin addiction on the
- 2:31Speaker 1: exact same day as Kurt April fifth. His cause of
- 2:35Speaker 1: death officially was an overdose of heroin and cocaine, a
- 2:41Speaker 1: deadly combination commonly referred to on the street as a
- 2:44Speaker 1: speedball lane frequently shot speedballs with Seattle vocalist and poet
- 2:50Speaker 1: Mark Lanigan of the Screaming Trees. Mark was the last
- 2:54Speaker 1: person Kurt Cobain called before he died. Mark's band, Screaming
- 2:59Speaker 1: Trees were recorded a song in nineteen ninety six referencing
- 3:03Speaker 1: me as a pada called Dying Days. Mike McCready, Seattle
- 3:08Speaker 1: guitarist from Pearl Jam. He guests on the song Dying
- 3:11Speaker 1: Days the Miyaz, a Pada tribute by Screaming Trees, and
- 3:15Speaker 1: McCready handles the tunes guitar solo. Now, Mike McCready's playing
- 3:20Speaker 1: on that tune and on basically everything that he's ever
- 3:23Speaker 1: recorded is heavily influenced by the greatest rock and roll
- 3:27Speaker 1: guitarist of all time and fellow Seattle native, Jimmy Hendricks.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Jimmy died back in nineteen seventy. Now had he been
- 3:36Speaker 1: born in a later generation, Mike McCready's Temple of the
- 3:39Speaker 1: Dog bandmate and Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell thinks that Jimmy
- 3:44Speaker 1: Hendricks would have been too heady a guitar player to
- 3:47Speaker 1: break through and to make it in the modern music industry.
- 3:51Speaker 1: All right, that's understandable. I guess Chris Cornell was speaking
- 3:55Speaker 1: about the music industry in twenty eleven, which was firmly
- 3:59Speaker 1: on a downward spiral by then. But what if Jimi
- 4:04Speaker 1: Hendrix had lived? What if Lane Staley or even Mark Lanigan,
- 4:08Speaker 1: As hard as that is to believe, what if these
- 4:11Speaker 1: dudes lived? What kind of music would they be making today?
- 4:16Speaker 1: What if Chris Cornell lived or Kurt Cobaine? What would
- 4:19Speaker 1: music even be like if these monumental voices were still
- 4:23Speaker 1: making it? Where would Kirk Cobaine's music and voice fit
- 4:27Speaker 1: into today's modern culture. That's a super interesting question to
- 4:32Speaker 1: think about for me. Anyways, it's hard, you know, I
- 4:35Speaker 1: think about, you know, would Kurt still be in Nirvana?
- 4:38Speaker 1: That's hard for me to believe. I believe that Kurt
- 4:41Speaker 1: wasn't long for the band no matter what, or at
- 4:43Speaker 1: the very least that he was going to make big
- 4:45Speaker 1: changes with Nirvana, either in sound, line up, production or
- 4:49Speaker 1: all three. And a lot of people ask what would
- 4:52Speaker 1: Kurt think of Foo Fighters? What would you think of
- 4:54Speaker 1: Dave Grohl modern day Dave Grohl, not to dunk on Dave,
- 4:58Speaker 1: who's had a off a couple of years. By rock
- 5:01Speaker 1: Star standards, but I think Food Fighters would nauseate Kurt Cobain.
- 5:05Speaker 1: And yes, I'm aware of what Davis said about Kurt's
- 5:08Speaker 1: positive reaction to some of his early demos that ended
- 5:11Speaker 1: up becoming fully produced songs on the Food Fighters first album.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I'm speaking less about the music here and more about
- 5:19Speaker 1: the hammy, super comfortable, normy, mainstream place that Dave Grohl
- 5:25Speaker 1: occupies in the music industry. I cannot see Kurt Cobain
- 5:29Speaker 1: vibing with that at all. But it's hard, almost impossible,
- 5:35Speaker 1: to predict what these artists who were taken too soon
- 5:39Speaker 1: would be like had they lived. I'm just guessing, That's
- 5:41Speaker 1: all I'm doing. I have no idea. I'm basing it
- 5:44Speaker 1: on the research I've done on Kirk Cobain and what
- 5:46Speaker 1: I know his personality to be. I don't know that
- 5:50Speaker 1: he would be into Dave grow in Food Fighters. I
- 5:53Speaker 1: don't think anybody knows. One thing I do think I
- 5:55Speaker 1: know about Kirk Cobain is that he was an entirely
- 5:57Speaker 1: unpredictable Of all these artists that I mentioned, I think
- 6:01Speaker 1: that Kurt Cobain, similarly to John Lennon, had he lived,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I think the Kurt would be most surprising comparatively to
- 6:10Speaker 1: their peers. To Kirk Cobain and John Lennon's peers, both
- 6:14Speaker 1: of these artists were fiercely independent, both were a true iconoclast,
- 6:19Speaker 1: both were extremely hypocritical, and both were wildly impulsive. I
- 6:25Speaker 1: don't know what to think about Kurt's life or music
- 6:28Speaker 1: had he survived himself, except that whatever I think, Kurt
- 6:33Speaker 1: probably would have done something different. He was rare in
- 6:36Speaker 1: that way. Again, like John Lennon, You're going to hear
- 6:39Speaker 1: a lot about Kirk Comain in the coming days. The
- 6:42Speaker 1: British newspaper of the British tabloid, I should say, The
- 6:45Speaker 1: Daily Mail just this week published a so called peer
- 6:49Speaker 1: reviewed report on Kirk Comain's death that supposedly refutes the
- 6:54Speaker 1: suicide cause of death and argues that the evidence surrounding
- 6:58Speaker 1: Kurt's suicide suppose a suicide. As they would put it,
- 7:02Speaker 1: they'd say, this report says that the evidence supports a
- 7:05Speaker 1: staged suicide, that it wasn't suicide, that it was in
- 7:08Speaker 1: fact homicide. Now why this report was published, I have
- 7:13Speaker 1: no idea. I can't even understand why the Daily Mail
- 7:17Speaker 1: and others like Newsweek are covering this report It's researchers
- 7:22Speaker 1: Brian Burnett and Michelle Wilkins, among others. This report their report,
- 7:26Speaker 1: I should say it was sent to us back in
- 7:28Speaker 1: December through what appears to be a publicist posing as
- 7:32Speaker 1: a rando. I'm not exactly sure we here at Double
- 7:36Speaker 1: Elvis examined the report. I didn't do it personally. Matt
- 7:39Speaker 1: Boden did much to his credit. The details in this
- 7:44Speaker 1: report are they're just they're they're I don't even I
- 7:47Speaker 1: can't even find the word for it. They're tough, I'll
- 7:49Speaker 1: put it that way. Visuals, it's not just text. It's awful.
- 7:54Speaker 1: So anyways, again, I didn't look at it, but Matt
- 7:57Speaker 1: looked at it, and I trust Matt completely. And Matt
- 8:00Speaker 1: concluded that the information that this report provides does not
- 8:02Speaker 1: disrupt what the King County Medical Examiner ruled back in
- 8:05Speaker 1: nineteen ninety four that Kirk Cobn's death was the result
- 8:08Speaker 1: of suicide from a fatal gunshot to the head and
- 8:11Speaker 1: the report the original report. The King County report also
- 8:15Speaker 1: noted the suicide note and the high level of heroin
- 8:18Speaker 1: in Kirk Kobein's system. But even without this report, if
- 8:21Speaker 1: one carefully reads the Daily Mail or the Newsweek articles
- 8:25Speaker 1: about the new report. You can discern pretty quickly that
- 8:29Speaker 1: the evidence that these researchers lay out is flimsy at best.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Now it's all wrapped up in the trappings in the
- 8:37Speaker 1: look and feel of an official report, a quote unquote
- 8:42Speaker 1: peer reviewed report. The report cites the positioning of Cobain's body,
- 8:47Speaker 1: claiming that it was staged to look like a suicide.
- 8:50Speaker 1: The report sites the fact that Kobaine had a receipt
- 8:53Speaker 1: for bullets in his pocket as proof of this staging.
- 8:57Speaker 1: This makes no sense. The report also cites a condition
- 9:00Speaker 1: of Kobaine's works, what he used to shoot, his drugs,
- 9:03Speaker 1: and the capped needles, and the toxicology report that indicates
- 9:07Speaker 1: the state of Kurt's body from heroin use. And there's
- 9:10Speaker 1: a whole lot more in here, but none of it
- 9:12Speaker 1: holds up this conspiracy theory that Kurt was killed, that
- 9:16Speaker 1: he didn't commit suicide, that Kurt was murdered. Okay, the
- 9:22Speaker 1: researchers here, the authors of this report, They do not
- 9:27Speaker 1: claim knowledge of who might have killed Kurt Kobain, But
- 9:32Speaker 1: we all know what the conspiracy theory is. It's that
- 9:37Speaker 1: his wife at the time Courtney Love had him killed,
- 9:41Speaker 1: and this conspiracy theory, it reminds me a lot of
- 9:45Speaker 1: the Lady Gaga illuminati theory. It just will not go away.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It just will not die again. You want to hear
- 9:52Speaker 1: that Gaga conspiracy theory, all the conspiracy theories related to
- 9:55Speaker 1: Lady Gaga, including that she had her her friendly and
- 9:58Speaker 1: Morgana killed and stole her whole musical identity. You can
- 10:01Speaker 1: listen to less two episodes of Disgrace and a couple
- 10:06Speaker 1: episodes back now in the eight years of making Disgraceland.
- 10:11Speaker 1: The group of music fans that I've pissed off the
- 10:14Speaker 1: most are the ones who believe that Kurt was murdered
- 10:18Speaker 1: by Courtney. But I am I was gonna say I'm sorry.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I'm not sorry. The evidence just isn't there. If it was,
- 10:26Speaker 1: you know, I would be the first to shout it out.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I am not afraid of digging into conspiracy theories. There
- 10:32Speaker 1: are no sacred cows. I'll look into anything, and I'm
- 10:35Speaker 1: gonna tell you straight up if the evidence supports it.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'll even admit when I was wrong about things, and
- 10:40Speaker 1: I have been wrong, as we all are. None of
- 10:42Speaker 1: us are perfect.
- 10:42Speaker 2: And I'm not.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Afraid to say so. Listen, if I believe Courtney Love
- 10:46Speaker 1: had anything to do with the death of Kurt Cobaine,
- 10:49Speaker 1: I would not only say so, just to be honest,
- 10:52Speaker 1: it would make my job way more interesting. Not that
- 10:56Speaker 1: it's not interesting already, but you get the point. But
- 10:59Speaker 1: in defense of the Kurt and Courtney conspiracy theorists, there
- 11:03Speaker 1: are some facts that don't make sense, like the handwriting
- 11:07Speaker 1: on the suicide note, But if I put some thought
- 11:10Speaker 1: into it, I can quickly come up with numerous explanations.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So no, Kurt wasn't murdered, despite what this new report says. He,
- 11:18Speaker 1: like Jimmy Hendrix and Mark Lanagan and Chris Cornell and
- 11:20Speaker 1: Lane Staley and me as Apata, was just one of
- 11:23Speaker 1: many Seattle rock stars who died too young. Speaking to
- 11:28Speaker 1: Curt and Courtney. There's a Courtney Love documentary that's coming
- 11:31Speaker 1: out this year, I believe, although there's no date of
- 11:33Speaker 1: release yet that I can find. I'm very excited to
- 11:35Speaker 1: see this. I believe it debuted at Sun Dance, and
- 11:39Speaker 1: apparently Courtney addresses all of these batshit crazy conspiracy theories,
- 11:44Speaker 1: which I gotta say is pretty impressive. Zeth and I
- 11:47Speaker 1: are going to address these theories more fully in the
- 11:50Speaker 1: exclusive section of this after party. We're going to dive
- 11:53Speaker 1: into what the conspiracy theorists think, what they say. I'm
- 11:56Speaker 1: going to straw man this argument a bit, and I'm
- 11:59Speaker 1: gonna I've talked to Zeth about this in advance, and
- 12:02Speaker 1: I want him to come to the table and to
- 12:04Speaker 1: defend the point of view of the conspiracy theorist. Now,
- 12:07Speaker 1: as much as I don't believe in the conspiracy theories here,
- 12:09Speaker 1: as I've indicated just now, there is some compelling evidence, okay,
- 12:13Speaker 1: And we're gonna get into the note. We're gonna get
- 12:15Speaker 1: a little bit into l Duce and some other elements
- 12:18Speaker 1: to sort of break this down. And who knows, maybe
- 12:20Speaker 1: you'll learn something, maybe I'll learn something, all right, I
- 12:23Speaker 1: don't know, we'll see anyways. That's in the exclusive section
- 12:25Speaker 1: of this after party coming up. Go to Disgrace slamdpod
- 12:28Speaker 1: dot com to sign up for five bucks a month
- 12:30Speaker 1: grab this exclusive content in ad free content as well.
- 12:33Speaker 1: All right, again, speaking of artists shooting themselves. Next week
- 12:36Speaker 1: in Disgrace sand We've got a treat for you. We
- 12:38Speaker 1: are releasing into the wide feed for everybody to hear
- 12:41Speaker 1: our previously exclusive episode on Hunter S. Thompson, now not
- 12:46Speaker 1: a musician, but definitely a rock star in his own right,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and an artist that I know has a lot of
- 12:51Speaker 1: crossover in the world of rock and roll into the
- 12:54Speaker 1: world of music history and with music fans and counterculture fans.
- 12:59Speaker 1: This is gonna be the last last time we do this,
- 13:01Speaker 1: I think that being released an episode on a non
- 13:05Speaker 1: musician in the Disgrace Sland Feed. We produced this Hunter S.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Thompson episode a year or so ago, mainly because we're
- 13:11Speaker 1: massive fans and we wanted to apply our storytelling to
- 13:14Speaker 1: our research on this incredible writer and cultural figure. So
- 13:18Speaker 1: that episode is coming next week. And when you're listening
- 13:22Speaker 1: to the Hunter S. Thompson episode and Disgrace Sammy, thinking
- 13:25Speaker 1: about who your favorite writers are. Is it Hunter Thompson?
- 13:29Speaker 1: Is it, I don't know, Charles Bukowski is it William S. Burrows?
- 13:33Speaker 2: Is it?
- 13:34Speaker 1: Someone more modern? Is it, I don't know, Harlan Coben.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I can go on and on, and there's a million
- 13:39Speaker 1: great writers out there. When you're listening to this Hunter episode,
- 13:43Speaker 1: be thinking about who your favorite writers are and get
- 13:45Speaker 1: at me with your recommendations. I'm particularly interested in autobiographies
- 13:51Speaker 1: by musicians that you guys have read. I mentioned Mark
- 13:54Speaker 1: Lanigan before his autobiography Sing Backwards and Wheat. It's a
- 13:57Speaker 1: great example of what I'm talking about. Lots of you
- 14:00Speaker 1: guys recommended this book to me, and it led to
- 14:02Speaker 1: us creating the Mark Lannigan episode of Disgraceland. Now, whatever
- 14:06Speaker 1: musician biograph he's you're into, let me know, recommend him
- 14:10Speaker 1: to me. Recommend to me in honor of Hunter S. Thompson,
- 14:14Speaker 1: any other writers in general that that are just kind
- 14:16Speaker 1: of like rock and roll writers that whatever, they don't
- 14:18Speaker 1: have to be rock any writers at all that I
- 14:21Speaker 1: know that's broad, but I'm always looking for new new recommendations.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Hit me up six p one seven nine oh six
- 14:27Speaker 1: six sixty three eight voicemail and text to let me
- 14:30Speaker 1: know now. Coincidentally, Hunter S. Thompson's death was recently reinvestigated
- 14:35Speaker 1: years after he died, and uh a good year after
- 14:39Speaker 1: we produced our previously exclusive episode. So we're going to
- 14:43Speaker 1: get into this recent probe and next week's after party
- 14:47Speaker 1: as a follow up to our Hunter episode. All right,
- 14:49Speaker 1: back to this week coming up tomorrow right after this
- 14:52Speaker 1: episode in the rewind slot our episode on You Got
- 14:56Speaker 1: It Lane Staley, and then, like I said, we hit
- 14:59Speaker 1: you next week with Hunter S. Thompson. I'll be back
- 15:03Speaker 1: after this with your voicemails, texts and emails, where we're
- 15:06Speaker 1: going to discuss, among other things, your thoughts on musicians who,
- 15:10Speaker 1: like me as a Potter, were taken too soon, the
- 15:13Speaker 1: ones that impacted you the most. We're also going to
- 15:15Speaker 1: be discussing your childhood music experiences. We dipped into that
- 15:20Speaker 1: last week in the exclusive section of the after Party.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Lots of you guys responded, a lot of you on Patreon.
- 15:25Speaker 1: We're going to get into that as well. We'll be
- 15:27Speaker 1: back right after this, all right, guys, six one seven
- 15:47Speaker 1: nine oh six six six three eight. You want to
- 15:49Speaker 1: send me a voicemail, you want to leave me a text,
- 15:50Speaker 1: you want to connect in any way about the question
- 15:53Speaker 1: of the week, or just anything in general. That's how
- 15:56Speaker 1: you do it. Six one seven nine oh six six
- 15:58Speaker 1: six three eight. We asked a questquestion last week. We
- 16:01Speaker 1: asked the question this week in relation to me as
- 16:03Speaker 1: a pod of which artists that impacted you were taken
- 16:07Speaker 1: too young. Let's chick in with the three three four.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Hello, mister Jake, it's Mahali. I've been featured on Hollywood
- 16:14Speaker 3: Land with mister Death a few times, but hoping this
- 16:17Speaker 3: might be the first time on Disgraceland calling in response
- 16:22Speaker 3: to the question about artists who died before they got
- 16:25Speaker 3: their due. Trying to keep this as short as possible,
- 16:28Speaker 3: but I've got.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Three for you.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Number one for my generation, which is anyone who's an
- 16:33Speaker 3: eighties baby grew up on this group and others like it.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Sublime and Bradley Noell, that guy, he was gone before
- 16:43Speaker 3: what we now know as Sublime became what it is.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Number two would be Otis Redding. He passed away right
- 16:52Speaker 3: before his hit Sitting on the Dock of the Bay
- 16:55Speaker 3: came out. And I think the biggest one overall from
- 17:00Speaker 3: all of my life and probably in general when it
- 17:03Speaker 3: comes to music as an American, with the Richie Ballens. Dude,
- 17:07Speaker 3: he wasn't even eighteen years old, he wasn't even a
- 17:10Speaker 3: full grown adult, and you know gone, And today, seventy
- 17:16Speaker 3: plus years later, la bamba and his name, his music
- 17:22Speaker 3: still still it searched and widely widely loved around the world.
- 17:27Speaker 3: So I think above all of the others that I
- 17:31Speaker 3: know of, Richie Bellens has to be the top one
- 17:34Speaker 3: who was gone before he got his due. He never
- 17:37Speaker 3: even got to see adulthood, much less the impact that
- 17:41Speaker 3: he had in this musical world. Thank you again, Rock Rolla.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Love what you guys do, and I'm looking for forward
- 17:47Speaker 3: to some more scripted episodes.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Take it easy, guys, three three four, great call, Thanks
- 17:52Speaker 1: for reaching out. Happy to get you on Disgrace in
- 17:53Speaker 1: here for the first time. Thanks for checking out Hollywood Land.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Appreciate you. Yeah, some great choices here. Sublime Bradley Knowle,
- 18:03Speaker 1: really interesting. What a grave voice that guy had, just incredible.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Would have been awesome to hear. How how he would
- 18:09Speaker 1: have matured as a singer and a musician. You also
- 18:12Speaker 1: mentioned Otis Redding. That's a big one. That's a huge one.
- 18:18Speaker 1: You know, what would the trajectory of Otis Redding have been?
- 18:21Speaker 1: What do you have sort of like blasted through the
- 18:24Speaker 1: rest of the sixties and the seventies and just kind
- 18:27Speaker 1: of well, he did he died. He died in nineteen seventy.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Hold on, I gotta figure this out. Nope, nineteen sixty seven.
- 18:34Speaker 1: What do you just kind of blasted through those years
- 18:37Speaker 1: and spun out in a way that a lot of
- 18:39Speaker 1: the sort of R and B and soul singers did,
- 18:42Speaker 1: even some of the bigger ones like James Brown, or
- 18:46Speaker 1: perhaps would he have cemented himself as a true kind
- 18:51Speaker 1: of legacy artist like Ray Charles or Aretha Franklin and
- 18:56Speaker 1: have just kind of ascended into this the sort of
- 19:00Speaker 1: upper echelon of musicians from his day. I think probably
- 19:06Speaker 1: the latter. I think it would have been the Aretha Franklin.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Ray Charles wrote. You also mentioned Richie Vallens, and thank
- 19:13Speaker 1: you for reminding me. We still haven't produced a Richie
- 19:16Speaker 1: Allens episode or Buddy Hally or The Day of the
- 19:19Speaker 1: Music Died. I've never been able to figure out, like,
- 19:22Speaker 1: do I want to do it about all of them?
- 19:24Speaker 1: You know, all this comes up in the Wayland Jennings episode.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I want do I want to do it about all
- 19:28Speaker 1: of them? Or do I want to do it about
- 19:29Speaker 1: each of them? I think I want to do it
- 19:30Speaker 1: about each of them because I'm I'm just at least
- 19:32Speaker 1: when it comes to Buddy Holly and it comes to Richievillens,
- 19:34Speaker 1: I'm just completely interested in both of them as musicians.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I think it would it would be limiting to do
- 19:42Speaker 1: one story on all three artists, including the big bopper
- 19:46Speaker 1: in here as well. I saw Lebamba in the theaters
- 19:49Speaker 1: as a kid when it came out, and it just
- 19:52Speaker 1: blew me away everything about it. The performances were incredible. God,
- 19:57Speaker 1: I can still remember the fascination I had with that
- 20:00Speaker 1: stratocaster that is featured in the film. But I think
- 20:05Speaker 1: the reason that that movie has stayed with me for
- 20:07Speaker 1: so long is those songs. Those Richie Allen songs are
- 20:11Speaker 1: just undeniable. They're incredible. Great call three three four, appreciate you.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Let's check this recommendation from the three to one seven.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Jake Man, you really have to do an episode on
- 20:22Speaker 4: the Crayonberries and Delores. You were asking about the best
- 20:27Speaker 4: Irish punk band everything. It is easily the crean Berries.
- 20:33Speaker 4: I'm not as super fan, but Delores was magical. Her
- 20:37Speaker 4: voice was nominated as one of the best voices ever.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So please, please, if you.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Have it in your heart, I think it's a great story.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Her death is tragic, but please let's look up the Crayonberries.
- 20:55Speaker 1: All right, three one seven, You've got it. We've got
- 20:58Speaker 1: an episode on Dolores from the Cranberry is coming sometime soon.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I don't know when, but this is one of those
- 21:04Speaker 1: like to me as a pot of that gets this
- 21:05Speaker 1: is one of those subjects that just keeps getting recommended
- 21:08Speaker 1: to me. I've been hesitant to get into it just
- 21:09Speaker 1: because it's so damn sad. Maybe I can convince Zeth
- 21:12Speaker 1: to write this one. So I don't know that my
- 21:14Speaker 1: headn't it. We shall see, but yes, we're gonna get
- 21:18Speaker 1: to Dolores three one seven. Appreciate you see guys, text, call,
- 21:22Speaker 1: leave a voicemail, and you know your recommendations, they'll they'll
- 21:25Speaker 1: turn into granted wishes. Okay. Now, one of the other
- 21:28Speaker 1: questions we were talking about last week, or one of
- 21:30Speaker 1: the other topics I should say we were discussing, was
- 21:33Speaker 1: the crazy childhood experiences we had with live music, crazy
- 21:38Speaker 1: live music experiences we had as teenagers. A lot of
- 21:42Speaker 1: that stemming back to the nineties because that's when a
- 21:45Speaker 1: lot of us were, you know, out there getting after
- 21:48Speaker 1: it for the first time, but can be from any era.
- 21:50Speaker 1: We talked a lot about this in the exclusive section
- 21:54Speaker 1: of last week's after Party, Zeth and I. Let's dip
- 21:58Speaker 1: into this voicemail from the on this topic.
- 22:01Speaker 5: Hey, Jake, I love the show. I just wanted to
- 22:04Speaker 5: be able to say that, like craziest concerts and best
- 22:07Speaker 5: concerts ever been to. First time I saw the Roots
- 22:10Speaker 5: as a little hip hop kid in early nineties, seeing
- 22:13Speaker 5: all of those live music performances doing hip hop was
- 22:17Speaker 5: mind blowing. So The Roots were definitely the best live
- 22:20Speaker 5: show I saw. But the craziest was growing up in
- 22:23Speaker 5: the town where like was real life Footloose. That's where
- 22:27Speaker 5: Footloose was filmed in Utah, seeing like Rage against the
- 22:31Speaker 5: Machine come in September of ninety six, and having all
- 22:35Speaker 5: of the religious folks like telling their telling their parents,
- 22:39Speaker 5: don't let your kids go businesses shuttered up town like
- 22:43Speaker 5: this little farm town and a rodeo ground, and having
- 22:45Speaker 5: Rage against the Machine come there. No real issues happened
- 22:49Speaker 5: at the concert itself. It was a really good show,
- 22:51Speaker 5: pretty crazy, but awesome to see. Like the real life
- 22:55Speaker 5: situation of religion being terrified of rock and music was
- 23:00Speaker 5: pretty awesome. So it might be something you want to
- 23:03Speaker 5: check out. Just Rage Against the Machine Spanish Fork, Utah
- 23:06Speaker 5: in like September of ninety six.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Love the show, rock and Roll eight to one. Thanks
- 23:12Speaker 1: for the call. Appreciate you, man, I wish I saw
- 23:15Speaker 1: the Roots back in the day. I never saw them.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'd love to see them now. I guess I did
- 23:19Speaker 1: share a stage at a festival when I brought Disgraceland
- 23:24Speaker 1: to the stage in San Francisco with Black thought that
- 23:27Speaker 1: was a lot of fun. Rage against the Machine in
- 23:31Speaker 1: ninety six, So you would have caught them in that
- 23:35Speaker 1: tiny little town you're from. I guess at at kind
- 23:39Speaker 1: of their peak ninety six, I'm pretty sure they were.
- 23:42Speaker 1: They were on Malla Blues at that point, are just
- 23:44Speaker 1: about to be. I'd seen them a little bit early earlier.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I saw them in I think ninety two or ninety three.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I definitely saw their first Boston show in a tiny
- 23:56Speaker 1: club the Ica and South End, and I saw them.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Where else did I see Rage? I think yeah. I
- 24:06Speaker 1: definitely saw them at Avalon when it was called Avalon,
- 24:09Speaker 1: saw them on On All the Blues as well. Vastly
- 24:11Speaker 1: different experience in Boston than it was in your footloose town.
- 24:15Speaker 1: But hey, at least you got that crazy experience. Let's
- 24:17Speaker 1: do one more voicemail, this one from the two.
- 24:20Speaker 2: To oh one Jake, Jeff two one.
- 24:22Speaker 6: I just want to say I finally caught up. I've
- 24:25Speaker 6: been listening to your podcast for I guess close to
- 24:27Speaker 6: a year, but I started at the beginning, so now
- 24:29Speaker 6: like I'm all caught up, and I'm pretty happy about that.
- 24:32Speaker 6: To address your current question, which rock stars or figures
- 24:36Speaker 6: in rock and roll fizzled out or or or died
- 24:39Speaker 6: way too young right on the precipice of success, I
- 24:41Speaker 6: would say that it's tied between two, both having happened
- 24:45Speaker 6: in the late nineties. I would have to say Shannon
- 24:48Speaker 6: Hoone with Blind Mellon was kind of hurtful.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I thought their music was terrific.
- 24:53Speaker 6: They were just about to blow up. They were highly
- 24:55Speaker 6: successful at Woodstock and again, you know, drugs, And I
- 25:00Speaker 6: would say that after that, it was probably Brad Newell
- 25:03Speaker 6: from Sublime, same thing. They had a seminal album that
- 25:06Speaker 6: was absolutely phenomenal and groundbreaking, and I guess he celebrated
- 25:12Speaker 6: a little too art.
- 25:13Speaker 2: And and died. But those two affected me, I don't know,
- 25:17Speaker 2: for some reason.
- 25:17Speaker 6: They both had a certain vulnert, both the singers had
- 25:20Speaker 6: a certain vulnerabilitated.
- 25:21Speaker 2: To them that it was really kind of sad.
- 25:25Speaker 6: You know, it's really a shame because I think if
- 25:28Speaker 6: both of them had lived, their bands would have been
- 25:30Speaker 6: wildly successful, probably Sublime more so than Blind Melon, but
- 25:35Speaker 6: I kind of think they both would have wildly crazy success,
- 25:39Speaker 6: and it's really as a shame. Love the show and
- 25:42Speaker 6: I'll look forward to talking to you again.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Thank you, Jeff, Thanks so much for the call. I
- 25:46Speaker 1: hear you man both there is a similarity team Shannon
- 25:50Speaker 1: Shannon Huon from Blind Melon and Brad from Sublime. That
- 25:54Speaker 1: and that that tie, the vulnerability tie that you mentioned.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I think I think you're honest something there. I think
- 26:00Speaker 1: it's I think it's a big part of it's subtle,
- 26:04Speaker 1: but it's there and their persona, and I also think,
- 26:08Speaker 1: perhaps more importantly, it's it's part of what attracted music
- 26:11Speaker 1: listeners to them. It's part of what made them relatable
- 26:14Speaker 1: as rock stars. And I also agree with you that
- 26:17Speaker 1: I think of the two, I think I don't know
- 26:21Speaker 1: if I think that that Sublime and Brad Bradley know
- 26:26Speaker 1: would have had a more successful career, but at least
- 26:29Speaker 1: it would have been I think it's one that I'm
- 26:31Speaker 1: more interested in having seen progress. And again, I just
- 26:36Speaker 1: think that guy was a really really great singer. Not
- 26:39Speaker 1: a great singer, but just had a great voice, and
- 26:41Speaker 1: it would have been super cool to just hear what
- 26:43Speaker 1: became of that, especially because the scene he came from,
- 26:47Speaker 1: that southern California kind of punk scene. Just kind of
- 26:51Speaker 1: a compelling dude. Appreciate the call. Thanks for calin. Glad
- 26:53Speaker 1: you're all caught up with Disgraceland. It's a lot of episodes.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Six one seven, nine, six six six three eight. Voicemail
- 27:00Speaker 1: text four one six Jason rights in, Hey, I submitted
- 27:03Speaker 1: my Iced Tea Montreal encounter through the portal plus two codas.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Sorry so long. I could shorten it, but then it
- 27:12Speaker 1: would only be an anecdote. Feel free to edit if
- 27:14Speaker 1: you use it. Thanks for making this interactive rock and rolla.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Jason in the four to one six is a Patreon subscriber,
- 27:20Speaker 1: and Jason I know had some weird run in with
- 27:24Speaker 1: iced Tea as a teenager, I believe, and he teased
- 27:28Speaker 1: it out on Patreon, said it was it was too
- 27:31Speaker 1: rough and rowdy to share there, and he was gonna
- 27:33Speaker 1: hit me up six one seven nine oh sixty six
- 27:34Speaker 1: six three eight, and he hit me up. But now
- 27:36Speaker 1: it's looking like I guess, he said. He sent it
- 27:38Speaker 1: through the portal plus two codas. This is a long tease, Jason,
- 27:42Speaker 1: I imagine you talking about emailing you and check that out,

- 29:14Speaker 1: up some reviews.
- 29:16Speaker 4: And I have.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Got a big pile of crow to eat regarding my
- 29:22Speaker 1: new England Patriots coming up right after this. I don't
- 29:47Speaker 1: know if you heard that. I just I just spilt
- 29:50Speaker 1: water all over my desk, wiping it off with the
- 29:55Speaker 1: sleeve of my flannel shirt right now. This is the
- 29:57Speaker 1: second spilled water of the d Also have myself a
- 30:02Speaker 1: flat tire this morning, so I'm dealing with that it's
- 30:05Speaker 1: been a morning, guys, it's been a morning. But you
- 30:07Speaker 1: know what, I don't care. I'm grateful. I got nothing
- 30:10Speaker 1: but gratitude because this here is the greatest music community
- 30:15Speaker 1: on the Internet and off the internet, if I do
- 30:18Speaker 1: say so myself. Now, some of you may know, or
- 30:23Speaker 1: all of you may know, I'm not sure that we
- 30:24Speaker 1: offer exclusive content to our all access members, like the
- 30:29Speaker 1: all access section of this after party, whereas thatth and
- 30:33Speaker 1: I will be discussing Kirk Cobean's suicide and the theory
- 30:38Speaker 1: that he was murdered, and we're gonna poke some holes
- 30:40Speaker 1: in that theory. But last week we were talking about
- 30:42Speaker 1: wild concerts from our childhood that was brought on by
- 30:47Speaker 1: our coverage of Jane's addiction. Got a ton of comments
- 30:52Speaker 1: on Patreon on this topic, and that's that's the best
- 30:56Speaker 1: part about Patreon, guys, is the community aspect of it. Okay,
- 30:59Speaker 1: if you've been on the about joining Patreon, I'm not
- 31:02Speaker 1: gonna make this some big sell. I'm just gonna tell you.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I love engaging with the listeners over there. It's the
- 31:08Speaker 1: best getting to know you guys. I love how you
- 31:11Speaker 1: guys engage with each other. That's pretty incredible. There's talk
- 31:15Speaker 1: circulating about a meetup this year for all of us.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Not sure what we're gonna do or where, but I
- 31:20Speaker 1: love that, and I just love that we've got this
- 31:22Speaker 1: community over there and right now. The topic of discussion
- 31:25Speaker 1: is all of your wild experiences as kids with live
- 31:30Speaker 1: music back in the nineties, some of the eighties, some
- 31:33Speaker 1: of the seventies. Roxane am write's craziest experience in a word,
- 31:37Speaker 1: guar Okay, I get it. I get that, Roxanne, I
- 31:40Speaker 1: get it. Kimberly Harris writes, got dragged to a Kiss
- 31:44Speaker 1: concert one of maybe three people at this whole show,
- 31:46Speaker 1: my friend three people. I don't think she means three people,
- 31:50Speaker 1: she says. My friend Kelly had been part of Kiss
- 31:52Speaker 1: Nation since she was four. I did move when spewed
- 31:56Speaker 1: blood on by Gene, and I definitely moved. I went
- 31:58Speaker 1: backstage to meet them, and Kelly and her sister lost it.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Half naked and naked women everywhere, and I am the
- 32:05Speaker 1: only black person all caps, So I definitely was out
- 32:08Speaker 1: of my element in the music in the crowd. But
- 32:09Speaker 1: the band was super nice, and I was asked by
- 32:12Speaker 1: Gene Simmons playfully how the hell it was that I
- 32:14Speaker 1: was at this concert let alone backstage, and my response
- 32:19Speaker 1: was that I was dragged along for a girl's night out.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I had a good time, but my friend Kelly and
- 32:23Speaker 1: her sister had to be pulled together repeatedly. Kelly's sister
- 32:27Speaker 1: did get her all right, I'm getting into that party.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Thank Kimberly's got the best stories. Appreciate you. Becky Johnson. Right, Hey,
- 32:34Speaker 1: I did get kicked in the face at a Rollins
- 32:36Speaker 1: band show. I learned quick that if I was standing
- 32:37Speaker 1: in front of the stage to grab the stage driver
- 32:39Speaker 1: by the ankles and help them over my face. Were
- 32:41Speaker 1: you even alive in the nineties if you were not
- 32:44Speaker 1: kicked in the face with a combat boot at a
- 32:47Speaker 1: Henry Rowlands show? At a Rollins ban show, Jason Ramsey
- 32:50Speaker 1: teases out his iced tea experience. Still looking for that
- 32:53Speaker 1: email through the portal, Jason, I'll report back once I
- 32:55Speaker 1: get it. Guys, get on the Patreon chat. You don't
- 32:58Speaker 1: need to sign up for five bucks be part of
- 32:59Speaker 1: the t You can sign up for a dollar to
- 33:01Speaker 1: be part of the chat. Okay, just the buck and
- 33:03Speaker 1: you get access to the Disgraceline community to get over there.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Get in on that action, and if you can't support financially,
- 33:09Speaker 1: we get it. You can always support by leaving a review.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Oftentimes I will read some of the reviews back here
- 33:16Speaker 1: to you guys on the show, and when I do,
- 33:19Speaker 1: that's a signal to you to get in touch six
- 33:21Speaker 1: one seven nine oh sixty sixty six three eight voicemail
- 33:23Speaker 1: in text and let me know that you heard your review.
- 33:26Speaker 1: And at that point I will ask you a couple
- 33:29Speaker 1: questions and I'll get you some merch as a nice
- 33:31Speaker 1: little thank you. It's a nice little token of my appreciation.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Now I can't I can't say exactly what that merch
- 33:36Speaker 1: might be, but I'm looking at some stickers here on
- 33:38Speaker 1: my desk and some pins. I've got some shirts. I
- 33:40Speaker 1: got a whole bunch of stuff that was just on earthed.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I know I was supposed to mail this stuff out
- 33:43Speaker 1: last week. I did not do that. I ended up
- 33:46Speaker 1: going to New England for the Super Bowl, and I
- 33:49Speaker 1: am I am delayed. What can I say, I'm having
- 33:51Speaker 1: Like I said, I'm having myself a little bit of
- 33:53Speaker 1: a day here. I had a couple of water and
- 33:56Speaker 1: coffee malfunctions, and I got a I got a flat
- 33:58Speaker 1: tire and waiting on a tow truck. Come by my house,
- 34:02Speaker 1: pick up my car, bring it to the dealership. But
- 34:04Speaker 1: I will get merch out shortly to the winners. If
- 34:08Speaker 1: you yourself want to be a winner, I encourage you
- 34:10Speaker 1: to go to Apple Podcasts or to Spotify and to
- 34:14Speaker 1: leave a review for Disgracelane. It helps with discovery of
- 34:16Speaker 1: the show and we are super appreciative of it. Disgraceful. M.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Smith nine five seventy nine on Apple podcast Rights. Hey,
- 34:24Speaker 1: thanks for all the great content and stories. I'm really
- 34:26Speaker 1: appreciative of the music that I have been exposed to
- 34:28Speaker 1: because of your platform. I'll go to Apple Music and
- 34:30Speaker 1: look up artists that have been subject matter on the show.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I've gotten into more punk and hardcore and I've always
- 34:35Speaker 1: been a thrash medal guy and this just adds to
- 34:37Speaker 1: my life. Keep it coming. Thank you. M. Smith nine
- 34:39Speaker 1: five seven nine. I love that happy you're getting exposed
- 34:42Speaker 1: to new music because of Disgraceland. Check out me as
- 34:45Speaker 1: a pot in the gits if you have not already,
- 34:48Speaker 1: and X ten and xt in on Spotify Rights. I
- 34:52Speaker 1: just want to say how much I love this podcast.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I'm such a music girl and as much as I
- 34:57Speaker 1: think I know about artists and their stories, you always
- 34:59Speaker 1: give me some cool new info. I love sharing with
- 35:01Speaker 1: my friends. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You know what.
- 35:05Speaker 1: That's what it's all about, getting this new information, new stories,
- 35:09Speaker 1: having something to talk about with our fellow music obsessives,
- 35:12Speaker 1: whether it's in the Patreon chat, whether it's at the barbecue,
- 35:15Speaker 1: whether it's at your next dinner party, whether it's wherever
- 35:18Speaker 1: you're standing on the side of the soccer field talking
- 35:21Speaker 1: to a mom or dad, and I don't know, maybe
- 35:23Speaker 1: they're wearing a Sublime shirt. You want to tell them
- 35:26Speaker 1: a little bit about your knowledge of Bradley Nole that
- 35:27Speaker 1: you heard here on Disgraceland. We like to say that
- 35:31Speaker 1: this is the podcast that'll make you dangerous at dinner parties.
- 35:35Speaker 1: I got to call this out. February thirteenth, that's this week.
- 35:38Speaker 1: That was the date back in twenty eighteen. However, February thirteenth,
- 35:44Speaker 1: twenty eighteenth, that we released our first ever episode of Disgraceland.
- 35:51Speaker 1: That means this podcast is eight years old this week,
- 35:55Speaker 1: eight years old. I cannot believe that I was talking
- 35:59Speaker 1: to somebody the podcast industry a couple of weeks ago.
- 36:01Speaker 1: And she referred to me as a veteran of the
- 36:03Speaker 1: podcast industry. A veteran. I didn't like it. To be
- 36:08Speaker 1: honest with you, I don't feel like a veteran. I mean,
- 36:11Speaker 1: I don't feel like I've been in this for that long.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Everything still feels new to me. Honestly, it all feels
- 36:16Speaker 1: like it's growing. I'm still finding ways to be inspired.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I'm still finding stories that inspire me, that make them
- 36:22Speaker 1: want to crack the books, get under the hood. I'm
- 36:25Speaker 1: Zeth Matt myself. We're still we're still totally compelled to
- 36:30Speaker 1: find unique ways to tell these stories, to to do
- 36:33Speaker 1: so with audio, to do so with music, scoring, with
- 36:37Speaker 1: sound design, and the more of you that come into
- 36:39Speaker 1: the space that are new, the more of you that
- 36:42Speaker 1: may be listening and decide, Hey, I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 36:44Speaker 1: get involved with the disgrace and community with the discos.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna just you know, I just gonna
- 36:48Speaker 1: go in there and share, share a little bit about myself,
- 36:50Speaker 1: ask some questions on the Patreon or on Instagram or wherever.
- 36:54Speaker 1: The more that happens, it just it's fuel, and it
- 36:57Speaker 1: makes everything feel fresh and new and itsiting, and it's
- 37:01Speaker 1: the greatest job in the world. I was born to
- 37:03Speaker 1: do this. So is thatth So is Matt. They're both
- 37:06Speaker 1: uniquely talented to bring something special and incredible to Disgrace
- 37:12Speaker 1: and to what we do here, to the storytelling. And
- 37:15Speaker 1: it is a new year and we've got some awesome
- 37:18Speaker 1: stuff in the works for you in twenty twenty six,
- 37:22Speaker 1: really going to push everything further than we ever have
- 37:26Speaker 1: before creatively. You're gonna be very excited, I promise you.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Just wanted to say thank you to all you listeners.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Eight years. I can't believe it. I don't even know
- 37:35Speaker 1: how many episodes we have eight years. That's crazy. We
- 37:38Speaker 1: got to be around two hundred and sixty episodes at
- 37:40Speaker 1: this point. Anyways, much love, much gratitude, Thank you very much.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Appreciate you. Stop by Patreon, say hello or just give
- 37:47Speaker 1: me a call six one seven nine oh six six
- 37:49Speaker 1: six three eight, say what's up? Send me a voicemail. Listen.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I gotta eat some crow here, all right. I got
- 37:55Speaker 1: to look, I had all the shit talk in my
- 37:58Speaker 1: mouth last week when it came to the Patriots, not
- 38:02Speaker 1: the Patriots, the patriots in the Seattle Seahawks. My goodness, man,
- 38:09Speaker 1: that game kicked my ass. Kick the Patriots ass. Actually,
- 38:12Speaker 1: if I'm being for being for being real about it, So, Matt,
- 38:15Speaker 1: before I go any further, let's get this ready. Okay,
- 38:19Speaker 1: this is the sixty second sports rant in under thirty
- 38:22Speaker 1: seconds sponsored by Five Hour Energy in the return of

- 38:32Speaker 1: dot five hour Energy dot com or Amazon available now, Matt,
- 38:38Speaker 1: give me that buzzer. Look, I gotta, I gotta just say,
- 38:41Speaker 1: Seahawks fans, congratulations. Patriots haters, go f yourself. We will
- 38:48Speaker 1: be back. You know what, I can't even go to
- 38:51Speaker 1: we'll be back yet. I just gotta. I gotta again.
- 38:52Speaker 1: I talked so much crap about this, I just have
- 38:55Speaker 1: to say congrats to the Seahawks fans. I was wrong.
- 38:59Speaker 1: I thought our coach and our quarterback would overcome what
- 39:04Speaker 1: was playing to me as a better team that was
- 39:06Speaker 1: the Seahawks. But that did not happen. We got our
- 39:10Speaker 1: butts handed to us. We were outmanned, we were out played,
- 39:15Speaker 1: we were out coached. It was a supreme butt kicking,
- 39:20Speaker 1: and you know, what. I'm not ashamed to say it
- 39:22Speaker 1: because we've lost Super Bowls in the past. Here in
- 39:26Speaker 1: New England, we've probably lost more Super Bowls and a
- 39:28Speaker 1: lot of other franchises have even played in. We're up
- 39:32Speaker 1: to six losses now, okay, and I know we're also
- 39:36Speaker 1: six wins, so I know, I know, I know we'll
- 39:38Speaker 1: be back. I know we'll be back. And the Pats,
- 39:40Speaker 1: I believe maybe playing in Seattle next year. I think
- 39:46Speaker 1: the AFC East plays the NFC West next year. I
- 39:49Speaker 1: could be wrong. If that's the case, Shay Simpson, I
- 39:51Speaker 1: will see you out there and I will buy you
- 39:53Speaker 1: some drinks at whatever your stadium's called. I've always wanted
- 39:56Speaker 1: to go to that stadium. I always wanted to do.
- 39:57Speaker 1: There's a lot as a handful of stadiums always wanted
- 39:59Speaker 1: to go to. That's one of them. So maybe next
- 40:01Speaker 1: year will be be the time. And to make up
- 40:03Speaker 1: to make up for my sports sins to my Seattle brethren,
- 40:07Speaker 1: specifically Yushe, who I talked some crap about here last week.
- 40:11Speaker 1: The beers around me, my man, all right, Matt, I
- 40:14Speaker 1: know there is no way in h e double hockey
- 40:17Speaker 1: sticks that we did that in under thirty seconds, So
- 40:20Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say it right now. That was the
