- 0:58Street Pharmacy. Your friendly neighborhood
- 1:00pharmacy, Three O 1 S Main St. Blacksburg.
- 1:04Very proud sponsor of this week's Spring game preview,
- 1:08boys. Been a long time since it's been
- 1:10all four of us. How has everybody been?
- 1:14Hey living the dream, man. Living the dream.
- 1:17Busy. Shelton is not only busy,
- 1:20Shelton is crisscrossing this country from Florida to Texas.
- 1:25Where else have you been in the last few weeks, Shelton?
- 1:28We've been to let's see rally been NC State.
- 1:30We've been to South Carolina, Columbia.
- 1:33So we've been we've been kind of all over the place been to
- 1:35Longwood last week. So I've been.
- 1:37I've been everywhere, man. He has been everywhere.
- 1:40Tally, you've been everywhere in the state of Alabama the last
- 1:43few weeks, right? A couple of places work, man.
- 1:46It ain't nothing. It ain't nothing to it, but to
- 1:47do it. Work, work, work.
- 1:50Well, as long as they write the checks right.
- 1:52Yeah man. But I'm upset, man.
- 1:54I ain't going to be there this weekend.
- 1:56I was looking forward to it. So Brian got to ride solo.
- 2:00I'm holding down the floor for the BCP crew.
- 2:04Yeah, yeah. Tally, we got you.
- 2:07Got a fan on here, some of the Felton family hollering at you?
- 2:11We. Appreciate it.
- 2:13We appreciate. It we appreciate y'all popping
- 2:15in. Same with you, Mr. Drones.
- 2:17Mr. Drones. Well boys, we do have a lot to
- 2:19unload tonight. We are going to get into the
- 2:21Spring Game preview in just a little while, but over the last
- 2:25few weeks there has been some movement within the Hoops ranks.
- 2:30We hit it here and there the last couple weeks trying to hold
- 2:33off and see how many pieces of the puzzle would fall out.
- 2:36And as far as the women's side go, we do finally have a new
- 2:40coach after Kenny Brooks departure to Kentucky.
- 2:43And that individual is Megan Duffy.
- 2:47She had been at Marquette the last four years where three of
- 2:49the last four years she led the Marquette Golden Eagles in the
- 2:53Big East to the NCAA tournament. I would say that's pretty
- 2:57impressive knowing that that's a Big East women program not named
- 3:00UConn. So Shelton went deep diving a
- 3:04little bit on her today. So we're going to let him answer
- 3:08a few questions and obviously tally Brian, Y'all, get what
- 3:12y'all think of her, read her background.
- 3:14She's literally our age. I think she's 39, so, you know,
- 3:19close to our age. But Shelton, she had two stops
- 3:23prior to here. I'll let you advise what that
- 3:25is, but when you kind of looked at the data, what is it telling
- 3:30you about those stops? And then how did she bring that
- 3:33level of success to Marquette of making three out of four NCAA
- 3:36tournaments? Yeah, well, she did a really
- 3:40good job at Marquette. She made three out of four NCAA
- 3:44S Like you said. It would have been four out of
- 3:45five if not for COVID because that team, that COVID team would
- 3:49have absolutely made the the tournament.
- 3:52Trying to pull my notes here give me one SEC.
- 3:55But yeah. And then and then the one, the
- 3:56one season, they didn't make it. They were they were a bubble
- 3:59team that you know could have made it.
- 4:00They made the NIT, the WNIT. So really good resume.
- 4:03I think she won about 70% of her games there.
- 4:09And you know she came from Miami of Ohio where she won 69% of her
- 4:14games and made the WNIT twice there as well.
- 4:16So she's a really consistent winner.
- 4:18I mean that's all she's done is just one game.
- 4:19She hasn't had a a losing season as a head coach and you know
- 4:24typically Marquette looking at the Massey ratings which is sort
- 4:27of like a a Kemp on equivalent for for women's basketball.
- 4:30You know they were typically top 4050 and had one season and
- 4:32being around top 30 or so. So you know she she did inherit
- 4:38a very good team in a very good program but most importantly
- 4:41she's able to sustain that success.
- 4:42It wasn't like some flash in the pan where you you inherit the
- 4:45the good players from the previous head coach and the
- 4:48coach that preceded her with the Penn State and she has not done
- 4:51a very good job. So I think goes to show that you
- 4:54know just because you inherit a good situation doesn't
- 4:55necessarily mean you're going to succeed and she's done that
- 4:58especially in the Portal era being able to succeed in that
- 5:01success is really impressive. So, you know, big picture, I
- 5:04think when I look at her success there, she did not have the
- 5:08highest ceiling, but she did have a very, very high floor.
- 5:12So I think Virginia Tech is in a very good spot.
- 5:14I think she's going to make them a consistently competitive
- 5:16program. She's going to put a very good
- 5:17product on the court year in, year out.
- 5:19Now, can they get to the level that they were the past couple
- 5:21seasons that Kenny Brooks had Tech at?
- 5:24Maybe We'll see. I certainly hope so.
- 5:26But one thing I can say for sure is that this this hire was
- 5:31really good and she'll have tech competing night in, night out.
- 5:33And I think this is really the the best hire that tech could
- 5:36have made, really. So looking at it, you think like
- 5:41should be able to consistently compete for ACC championships
- 5:44may not necessarily be Elite Eight, Final Four every year
- 5:47type caliber that we saw the last couple years with Kenny
- 5:50Brooks's crew? Yeah.
- 5:52And the reality is, you know, it's it's really hard to make
- 5:54you lead. It's really hard to make the
- 5:55Final Four. Like, winning is just hard.
- 5:56It just is. I mean when you look at Kenny's
- 5:58resume JMU, you know I think he had a stretch that his last
- 6:01three years where he where he went something like 54 and three
- 6:04in his conference. So he, I mean he turned JMU into
- 6:07a powerhouse program at that level.
- 6:08And so I think it it took him a few years to get that attack,
- 6:10but eventually he did. So you know obviously he's a
- 6:13great coach. When I look at Duffy, you know
- 6:15it's it's been much more like consistently good solid results.
- 6:20Again, not so much, you know, making deep tournament runs, but
- 6:23they made it every year. And I think Marquette is, it's a
- 6:25solid job, but it's not, you know, it's not necessarily like
- 6:27the the peak of women's basketball or anything.
- 6:29And Big East is probably, you know, behind the other Power 5
- 6:32conferences of women's basketball, unlike the the men's
- 6:34side. So, you know, I think she did a
- 6:37really good job relative to program expectations, and
- 6:40there's every reason to believe that she'll continue doing the
- 6:42same here at Tech. Yeah, I did a deep dive too.
- 6:47On on on Miss Duffy. What do you say?
- 6:49Oh, oh, for Curtis. Oh man, yeah, I did a deep.
- 6:54Dive too, man. I went and looked at some images
- 6:57and I watched her, her attire on the sideline and she didn't
- 7:01look, she didn't look the same in that blue that she was
- 7:03sporting as when she came out with that maroon and that orange
- 7:07undershirt, man. Hey, she put those they had, she
- 7:12had them slim fit pants on and she had different, man.
- 7:15She had them, she had them stilettos on.
- 7:17I said OK, Miss Duff, Hey, I don't know nothing about her
- 7:20coaching just yet, but I know, hey, she put that shit on in
- 7:24that presser boy. She got style.
- 7:26She styled up. She made that maroon and orange
- 7:29look good. So I ain't going.
- 7:30I I'm not. I'm not hating.
- 7:32So here what we got so far she's a consistent winner.
- 7:35She's never had a losing season. She's been coaching for seven
- 7:38years, should have had four NCAA tournament appearances and it
- 7:43the mind of Ohio. I mean she was second both
- 7:45times. I'm assuming that's the Mack
- 7:46which they get won. So unfortunately nothing you can
- 7:49do there. She's got style per tally and
- 7:53his notification watching. Y'all got to go see that.
- 7:56Go look at that picture. All right, we'll we'll make tell
- 7:58you what you think all. Right.
- 8:00I know that she played at a very successful Notre Dame program
- 8:03where she was a nationally honoured Player of the Year back
- 8:08in the early 2000s. So obviously Notre Dame we know
- 8:13still a very strong program to this day.
- 8:15Now we had Kenny where I felt like Kenny was the inside out.
- 8:20He's going to always have a A. He's looking for a big body on
- 8:23the inside with shooters. What's her screen, Shelton?
- 8:26What are we going to see? We're going to see something
- 8:28similar. We're going to see different.
- 8:30What does she like to do schematically?
- 8:32So I haven't studied her. Oh no.
- 8:37Look, we lost him. I had never seen that happened.
- 8:40He got out of here. Ain't no telling where he is,
- 8:42you know? Yeah, I'm back.
- 8:45Yeah, that's what was having to relief control of your tab.
- 8:53I got 10 different tabs up. So tabs going wow.
- 8:56Tabs going wow. All right, yeah.
- 8:59So you. Were saying you didn't get a
- 9:00chance to look at schematically, but what is like the stats tell
- 9:03you just did you get a chance to look at like point?
- 9:05Right. Yeah.
- 9:06Yeah. So, yeah.
- 9:07So that's some kind of like that.
- 9:08So I would say generally speaking they have been better
- 9:11defensively than offensively. So she's more of a a defensive
- 9:14mind of head coach. You know, they typically are
- 9:17around top 30 in defense. You know, offense is a little
- 9:20bit lower In terms of these specifics.
- 9:22I mean they're not, you know, sort of kind of what we saw with
- 9:28Kenny. They're not like the in your
- 9:29face, you know, gonna get like the sexy stats like steals and
- 9:32turnovers and and blocks and stuff like that.
- 9:34But for the most part, I mean they do a pretty good job of
- 9:36preventing, you know, good shooting numbers.
- 9:39They're their offensive rating which is points allowed for 100
- 9:43possessions. Last year was 45th in the
- 9:44country which is you know pretty solid and then you know shooting
- 9:50percentage wise they're you know their top 1:30.
- 9:52So pretty good system. I'm sure I can you know we'll
- 9:56we'll learn more as we go on. But I would say it's kind of you
- 9:59know it based on the numbers. It's kind of similar to what we
- 10:02saw the last couple years with Tech.
- 10:03It's much more like a team team defense based style.
- 10:05Not going to get the turnovers or the blocks, but they will.
- 10:08You know they will play good team defense and you prevent you
- 10:11from hitting shots for the most part.
- 10:13Have has anybody seen, has any Portal movement happened?
- 10:17I know we've seen we'll talk some on the men's in a few
- 10:19minutes here but we know who left.
- 10:21But has anything happened as far as coming in?
- 10:23Because I know several of her players effectively got out.
- 10:27One, I think leading scorer, leading rebounder was out.
- 10:34Right. Yeah, yeah, they So Marquette
- 10:36had a couple decommits. No one is officially committed
- 10:39to Virginia Tech. And and those commits were both,
- 10:42I believe, I believe they're four-star recruits, I'm not
- 10:44mistaken, but very, very highly touted, highly touted prospects
- 10:47for sure. So I think if if Jeffrey can
- 10:51bring him on, I mean you got a pretty solid returning cast
- 10:53coming back. I know, no, no Killian Amor and
- 10:56no Kayla King. But I mean The thing is can he
- 10:59can He did such a good job recruiting the last couple
- 11:01cycles that even even when you lose some of those players like
- 11:04you still got a really good nucleus coming back so and and
- 11:07they got Hazleton as well as stick on the the incoming
- 11:10freshman. So overall pretty pretty solid
- 11:13situation to start with. Nice.
- 11:17Bron. I think you slipped the.
- 11:18Did you slip the question in here you want to ask about?
- 11:21Yeah, I mean and and this might play into the the schematics a
- 11:24little bit since you haven't really dove into that.
- 11:26But I just was curious like what type of players, if you're
- 11:29looking at those recruits that we're all Marquette, some of the
- 11:33ones that were being recruited this cycle, what type of players
- 11:38does Duffy want to recruit for success let?
- 11:43Me put their put this up for you one SEC.
- 11:48So I haven't looked into it too much.
- 11:50I don't it's it's annoying. They don't list the heights on
- 11:52the the roster. Yeah I don't.
- 11:55I haven't looked in it too much. But there I mean I would say
- 11:58generally speaking you know they'll have some size some
- 12:02length some athleticism. It's hard to it's hard to square
- 12:06them up with some of the numbers you're looking at cause like you
- 12:09know when it's within in like a single season there's a lot of
- 12:11variation there but I would guess based on some of their
- 12:14defensive their defensive acumen you know she she recruits some
- 12:19pretty solid length and size of athleticism.
- 12:22So, but I'm sure I can dig into a little bit more and have the a
- 12:26more detailed answer for the next couple weeks.
- 12:27But yeah, overall, I mean, I think I'm just excited about the
- 12:30hire. Yeah, I think it's definitely
- 12:33it. It kind of puts a little at
- 12:35least in the short term, puts a a nice little little Band-Aid
- 12:39over the big wound that that that kind of came out with with
- 12:43Kenny moving on and you know everything that happened with
- 12:45Liz ahead of that and then you know the transfers.
- 12:48I think this kind of settled everyone down a little bit and I
- 12:51think saying OK we can we can still we still got a good
- 12:54foundation here. Let's build off of that and and
- 12:57keep this thing moving. Yeah, I think the the good thing
- 13:00is that it's very easy to rebuild your roster and
- 13:02basketball, especially with the Portal now.
- 13:04I don't think this is going to be like a, you know, 2022
- 13:06football situation where you're kind of building up from Ground
- 13:08Zero. There's some, there's some that
- 13:10that covered is not. It's not full, but it's also not
- 13:12barren either. They got some pieces to work
- 13:14with. That is very true with the
- 13:19pieces to work with. And and there's another thing
- 13:22that I'll say and y'all know, I'm.
- 13:24I'm always thinking money sometimes.
- 13:26But y'all saw, y'all saw the contract.
- 13:29Y'all saw the contract. She is slightly under a million
- 13:32in her first few years and slightly over in the years 3-4
- 13:35and five. And you know, y'all know my
- 13:39feelings towards that. Like pain.
- 13:43I mean, love Kenny Brooks, Love where he took us paying him 2
- 13:461/2 to $3,000,000. That is a lot of money for a
- 13:50women's basketball coach, that is a lot of money.
- 13:54Unless you're going to the Final Four every year or going to
- 13:56championship every year. You do that, sure.
- 13:59And y'all know right now with everything going on, we are now
- 14:03effectively putting because he was making 1.6 last year, we're
- 14:07going to do it at $800,000 because, you know, and this is a
- 14:13little off topic, Tally, I think we sent it to you today,
- 14:16Shelton. I know you probably saw the
- 14:17news. We're about to sign a law in the
- 14:20state of Virginia where the school can pay the players
- 14:24doesn't need to be in IO collectors anymore.
- 14:26What are you going to do with that $800,000?
- 14:30Go get you a five star running back.
- 14:33There you go. So, so now the question is if
- 14:37she comes in at that salary and has a success in it is you'll
- 14:40get paid more, Yes, but again we will see that.
- 14:45Yeah. And I think we talked about it
- 14:46last week when we were talking about what this would look like.
- 14:49You know, we we thought that over the course of that
- 14:52additional contract probably going to average about in the
- 14:55ballpark of that million that that Kenny was when he kind of
- 14:58came in. So we're still kind of over the
- 15:01course of that contract you're going to average about it right
- 15:03at that million level. So you know, but in the short
- 15:07term you free up a little bit of money in that department that
- 15:12can get allocated to potentially other areas that could garner
- 15:18more short term success, so. Don't say areas one thing.
- 15:21Just say it. Just say it.
- 15:23One area bro in. One area.
- 15:26But the. There you go.
- 15:28But the other pieces, I think we all look in here and you know,
- 15:32hearing what Sheldon's got to say about her is talking about
- 15:35the roster turnover, probably going to bring in a couple of
- 15:37her players. We we're probably going to be
- 15:40right back in the tournament next year with her record of
- 15:42success and it's like, OK, we're paying her, you know, $2 billion
- 15:50less and we're in the same spot again, That's what.
- 15:53You wanted and and that that's kind of when I was looking at at
- 15:56her, we're coming in. I was like very similar thoughts
- 15:59to Sheldon is that you know we don't really know where the
- 16:02ceiling is at this point and I don't necessarily know that on
- 16:07paper it raises the ceiling, but it's certainly keeps the floor
- 16:11as high if not higher than what we had with Kenny.
- 16:13So I think that's exactly that that that's probably the the the
- 16:17the most reassuring thing at this point is that you know
- 16:19we're not going to see a fall off of the program.
- 16:23Yeah, and kind of how I looked at it too, you know what I'm
- 16:24saying? Kenny did a Kenny did a great
- 16:26job coaching and and recruiting. You know, taking the, taking the
- 16:31team to new heights. It's me developing and
- 16:35developing, definitely. But me watching it, you know
- 16:37what I'm saying? Me watching through this year
- 16:40and looking at stuff like I thought for sure that you know
- 16:43Liz and and and Georgia will be gone anyway, You know what I
- 16:47mean? Like, I thought no matter what
- 16:49happened they would be gone now. I didn't think she he was going
- 16:51to leave and then she was going to go to Kentucky.
- 16:53So but everybody was kind of freaking out.
- 16:56I I thought she, I thought both of them going to the, you know,
- 16:58WNBA, but you know it's like I thought that was the last we was
- 17:02going to see them anyway. So it was kind of like
- 17:05definitely bittersweet to see her transfer go somewhere else.
- 17:07But it's like I thought we had. That was the last time I seen
- 17:11him, you know, play for Virginia Tech Anyway, so.
- 17:16Yeah, I mean, I knew. Georgia had.
- 17:18Another year of eligibility. I wasn't I didn't think she was
- 17:20going to take it it it was kind of a, you know it's it's hard
- 17:25with the with the WNBA because like right now most collegiate
- 17:31women basketball players can make more if they're playing at
- 17:35a very high level, can make more in college than they can in the
- 17:38WNBA alone. Now I know a lot of them are
- 17:40playing overseas and and all these other things to supplement
- 17:43that. But in terms of just raw
- 17:46dollars, I mean there's there's a lot more potential for a high
- 17:49level player in college than it is directly in the WNBA right
- 17:53now. And and I think some of the
- 17:54ratings that we saw in the tournament kind of, you know,
- 17:59back that up. I mean the the college game is
- 18:03getting a lot more eyes on it right now than it ever has, and
- 18:07also significantly more than you see for the pro game. 100% All
- 18:13right. Well, before we jump into
- 18:14football, let's flip a little bit and talk about the men's
- 18:17game. Shelton informed us so early
- 18:20this evening he is going to be putting out an article on the
- 18:23key play, kind of taking an overall look at it.
- 18:25And so, Sheldon, before we get into the couple of points we
- 18:28want to hit here, what is, you know, what?
- 18:34What do you feel like you found out after doing this sort of
- 18:36research project about effectively the state of the
- 18:38basketball program? Yeah, well, a few things.
- 18:42I mean if you want to talk, you know, kind of the, the micro
- 18:44picture, I think over the past couple years, you know the
- 18:49coaching staff, Mike Young has made some missteps with regards
- 18:52to roster management, retention, obviously losing, you know,
- 18:55Darius Maddox and Rodney Rice, you know, to what degree is he
- 18:57responsible for that? I mean you can debate it, but it
- 19:00obviously hurt them. And you know, in the macro
- 19:04picture, I think nil has become increasingly a problem for the
- 19:07men's basketball side just because you know, Triumph is
- 19:09putting, you know, almost all the resources into the football
- 19:11side and it's benefited from Pride tremendously.
- 19:14But it's also come at the cost of of men's basketball.
- 19:17So you know, I've heard, I've heard not great things about,
- 19:20you know, their, their current overall spending numbers.
- 19:24And you know, when I look at I think what I was trying to do is
- 19:27really compare and contrast years two and three of the young
- 19:30yard with years four and five, which is the last two.
- 19:32And when I do that, I think the biggest, the biggest variable
- 19:36that's changed really is nil. Because I think this first
- 19:38couple years you, you sort of had this you know, scrappy
- 19:40roster with a bunch of low rated kids like a Mutts or an Illuma
- 19:44or a Couture or a Stern Murphy and they all kind of punch you
- 19:47by their weight class and it was a really good basketball.
- 19:50But the last two years it just hasn't really been the same.
- 19:52They're getting some guys in that don't really fit.
- 19:54The evaluations haven't been great.
- 19:57It's kind of an odd. It's kind of an odd mishmash
- 19:59pieces that the roster just doesn't really.
- 20:02It doesn't look like a Mike Young roster, really.
- 20:04And I know he's a great coach. I trust his evaluation skills.
- 20:07But something over the past couple years, it just doesn't
- 20:10seem like it's like it's real Mike Young basketball.
- 20:13And I would argue that NIL is a big part of that because I just
- 20:16don't think they're giving guys what they want to get.
- 20:18And so the question for Tech is. You know, how much are they
- 20:21going to support the program? And for Young, you know, I think
- 20:24he needs to embrace nil more. I just, I do.
- 20:26I know some people would dispute me on that and say it's it's out
- 20:29of the control. But you know, he hasn't really
- 20:31said anything about NALNAL in two years of being our head
- 20:34coach and two years of, you know, Nil being a big thing
- 20:37really. Whereas Brent Prize has been
- 20:38talked about all the time. So I think a few things need to
- 20:41happen first. Tech has to reassess, you know,
- 20:44the support that they want to give the program.
- 20:46Young has to embrace Nil a little bit more and he's got to
- 20:50make better roster decisions. I think it's, I think it's that
- 20:52simple. So I'm trying to trying to
- 20:54balance all those two things at the same time.
- 20:57All righty. Well, now let's kind of hit this
- 20:59piece and it's kind of been known.
- 21:01I mean, I'm going to give Mike Young a lot of credit because
- 21:05the team on the floor we had did not meet the expectations that a
- 21:10lot of us thought were happening.
- 21:12And instead of saying we're going to ride again with this
- 21:14same group, I mean, kids gone, kids gone to Miami, Camden's
- 21:22gone, Padula's gone. MJ Collins is gone.
- 21:24Petite was out. Now he's back in.
- 21:27Tyler Nichols gone. I mean, y'all I just mentioned,
- 21:32a bunch of guys who played a lot of minutes, scored points,
- 21:34grabbed rebounds for us. Sheldon wouldn't know.
- 21:37When you were doing the deep dive, did you get a chance to
- 21:39look at this and kind of see why?
- 21:42Or is it going back to what you said that there's mixed match
- 21:46pieces in? Was Mike Young just cleaning
- 21:48house, 'cause he knew it was kind of.
- 21:51Yeah. So you know, people have
- 21:52criticized Young's retention in the past, I think maybe a little
- 21:55bit unfairly. This year is much shipping
- 21:57because you know, Tech is losing a bunch of players that you know
- 22:00in some cases are starters, role players that they obviously want
- 22:03to have on the team next year. I think when I look at the the
- 22:06portal exodus that happened a couple weeks ago, it was almost
- 22:09entirely due to the fact that a lot of these guys want to see
- 22:11what their market value is and so they're entering the portal.
- 22:14You know they they see what they can make out of the schools and
- 22:18if they don't like what they see, they'll come back.
- 22:20And so Petit decided to come back.
- 22:22Collins decided he wanted to go elsewhere.
- 22:24Nickel is almost certainly gone. I mean I think he's probably
- 22:26going to get, he's going to get it back from someone.
- 22:28I know I know who it's going to be.
- 22:29But he's, you know, he's not coming back.
- 22:31Padul's not coming back. I don't think so.
- 22:34Yeah. It's just right now they're
- 22:36just, I mean they're just not competitive.
- 22:37I I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses for young, but
- 22:40when you're when you're, you know, nil is this uncompetitive.
- 22:43It's just hard to retain players like that.
- 22:44Now that being said, to your point, Curtis, I do think the
- 22:47guards in the wing kind of needed a makeover.
- 22:50Some of it is really good, I think.
- 22:51I think Ivy Curry, the kid from UTSA is a huge upgrade over
- 22:55Collins and they also got Ben Burner from CFC, who I think
- 22:59could be an upgrade over Robbie Baron as well.
- 23:01So to that extent I think it's good.
- 23:03But at the same time they've got one scholarship point guard on
- 23:06the roster next year and it's and it's Brandon Rex Steiner who
- 23:09Young did not even trust to play this year.
- 23:11So they got they got ways to go, man.
- 23:13It's not it's not gonna end right here.
- 23:15They they still got some work to do.
- 23:17Tally, I'm going to ask you a question because obviously.
- 23:20Don't do it. No, I want.
- 23:22No, no, no. Here's my question.
- 23:24Of those six guys that were out, now it's five because, you know,
- 23:29petite back is obviously going to be on the bench.
- 23:34Who are you most shocked by? Like who didn't you want to
- 23:38lose? Like man like.
- 23:39I like, I like Tyler Nickel. I think Tyler Nickel brought,
- 23:42yeah, I think he just brought something a little bit
- 23:43different. But I feel like he was kind of,
- 23:47again, watching Mike get on play basketball reminds me of like a
- 23:49coach that, like I said, he's not a good coach, but he's a
- 23:53like he seems like a systems coach.
- 23:55So it's a certain system that you have to play in.
- 23:59And some players, just like if you go watch AAU basketball
- 24:02nowadays, it's all like freelancing.
- 24:04You know, Tyler Nichols seems like a kid that plays like that.
- 24:08You know what I'm saying? Just, you know, kind of you have
- 24:10to give him the ball in space and let him do some things or
- 24:13you know, let him shoot Mike Younger.
- 24:15He has a certain system that he runs and some people fit good in
- 24:19that, some people don't. You know what I'm saying?
- 24:21Like Justin Mutts fit good in that system for for young, you
- 24:25know Grant Gazilli, he fit good in that system.
- 24:28Like he likes those 6869 center type players that can move out
- 24:35and shoot the three. But you know when you got a four
- 24:39that needs to be a stretch 4, but your five is a stretch 5.
- 24:43Like what do they play? So that system kind of doesn't
- 24:46work together. So like Sheldon said, I feel
- 24:48like it's kind of a been a mismatch of players.
- 24:52And then with his his guard play, I think, I mean Sheldon
- 24:57hit the nail on the head when he said like the people that he
- 24:59brought in really like punched above their weight class.
- 25:02When you look at like * Murphy and some of the other guards
- 25:05like you can't be for all the shit that the ACC takes, the ACC
- 25:11basketball, like the guards and the ACC are usually pretty big
- 25:15physical guards and are very athletic, you know, and and our
- 25:19guards have not been that. You know, we we haven't been
- 25:22going to getting it. And when we do get it, you know,
- 25:24it it doesn't come together so we can see what it looks like.
- 25:27So I've been disappointed. I've been disappointed with with
- 25:31not with Mike Young or the team but just like the system that
- 25:37he's trying to run in the ACCI. Just don't think that you can
- 25:40have longevity and and success with that kind of system.
- 25:44You know that's a that's a waffle system.
- 25:47He's got to change some stuff up.
- 25:49I mean I haven't done a whole bunch of like research on the on
- 25:55the kid the the Curry kid. But you see Kevin, he, he's down
- 25:59from where Kevin's from Kevin, as soon as we got him, Kevin
- 26:02said, you know this that kid can play, you know, so I got to do a
- 26:07little bit of research to see what he looks like.
- 26:09But I mean you got to get you some bigger guards to be able
- 26:12to, to match up with some of these guys that we're going,
- 26:15you're going to go against, you know, day in and day or night in
- 26:17and night out. Yeah, bigger guards, more
- 26:19athleticism. I think you know the ability to
- 26:24get your own shot a little more consistently.
- 26:27I feel like we we. We.
- 26:28Lack some of that ability as well, especially on the wing and
- 26:31at the guard position. So you know, if if I'd like to
- 26:35see more of that in terms of the guys we're bringing in.
- 26:38And I think the unfortunate thing is that you felt like we
- 26:41had some of that in these last couple classes, 3 classes, that
- 26:46most of that talent is now playing on some other team for
- 26:51one reason or another. So I think that's the more
- 26:53frustrating part from my perspective is you're trying to
- 26:57trying to reconcile that, right? You know what threw me for a
- 27:00loop? Like, out of everything that's
- 27:01happened since Mike Gunn been here, why did Grant Bazzilla
- 27:04lead the country? Like what?
- 27:08He just was like, I need to get away.
- 27:10Like I. Went to Italy, man.
- 27:12Have you heard of the food over there?
- 27:14Yeah, he's saying. Fucking about the money he can
- 27:17make playing internationally compared to the nil that we we
- 27:20can offer, apparently, I mean. That's, he said.
- 27:21He said. I'm gone.
- 27:23That's what it is. Go to Italy?
- 27:24Yeah, I'm going to eat good food and I'm going to get paid
- 27:26$375,000 a year. I need to look.
- 27:29At the Mediterranean climate. I need to look it up and see how
- 27:32he's doing. Probably good, probably good.
- 27:36It was definitely a miss this year.
- 27:38Can can we say this though? You talked about Ivy Curry
- 27:42already and how he's different. Kevin mentioned on there, Kevin
- 27:45and William mentioned he's a bucket on there and then you got
- 27:49Burnham coming up from Coc is. That is that Bo's brother.
- 27:53It no God fine. Just just.
- 27:59But you know Mike, I got a cousin down in Charleston and
- 28:01messaged me when he transferred and he said I don't know if he
- 28:03can handle ACC starting play, but he can definitely be your
- 28:07bench 6-7 Tally Looked at him, looked little films.
- 28:10That's my young guy, yeah. That's Mike Young.
- 28:13Yeah, that's Mike Young. I did.
- 28:15That's his guy. That's what he that's what he
- 28:17goes and recruits, man. That's what he brings in so.
- 28:19So, but what I'm hearing is I think we all see some of the
- 28:22sets that Mike runs are successful.
- 28:26Mike Young to me it's and it's probably going to be has to
- 28:29happen match here over the next two to three years.
- 28:31It's like you can still run that system but you have to start
- 28:36separating it right like you did tally telling y'all were
- 28:40mentioning. You've got to have guys that can
- 28:42just take over. You still have your set place
- 28:45because by God, I told my son we watched a bunch of the NCAA and
- 28:49then somebody called the time out and I tell him I'm like,
- 28:52watch his set play. It's going to come out there
- 28:53going to score a bucket in about 6 seconds.
- 28:55And every single time, set play, boom, boom, 3 pointer in.
- 28:59He's like, how'd you know that? I'm like sweet college coaches
- 29:01run things like they get them because you always see them take
- 29:05it after a big run. You know, you go down seven or
- 29:07eight, eight call the time out. We're going to run a play.
- 29:09We're going to, we're going to stop the run right here.
- 29:11He's got to develop and evolve into.
- 29:14It's OK to still have your system, but you've got to start
- 29:17looking for other things. And the question is can he do
- 29:20that over the next few, over the next few years Tally, before we
- 29:25go any further, just so Eric, here's got a question for you.
- 29:31Where'd you get the hat? What is the fanatics?
- 29:35Yeah, I think it's Fanatics is where I got it from.
- 29:38All righty. Most of the time.
- 29:40That's what I mean. Unless I go to Blacksburg and
- 29:42pick them up, I'm usually picking up stuff off there.
- 29:44But I stay online too much. Man.
- 29:46If I see something, I just. My daughter.
- 29:49Yeah, my daughter taught me how to online shop, so I just grab
- 29:51it. Oh man.
- 29:53Because we saw Tally yesterday. We had a little podcast session
- 29:58on our new network, Effectively, and he had a different hat on.
- 30:01There's another Virginia Tech hat on yesterday, and Dave's got
- 30:04me wide. I mean always.
- 30:07So yeah, but anything else y'all want to hit as far as it goes
- 30:11with the, the, the with hoops feel like we put it to rest
- 30:19other than. And are we going after Milk
- 30:22Chamberlain? No.
- 30:26Steph blurry. Steph Blurry.
- 30:29I like. I like Al Jabar.
- 30:30Cream. Abdul Jabbar Cream Cream.
- 30:34I like. I like the same.
- 30:36I mean, he's going to, yeah, he's going to get, he's going to
- 30:38get some money from somebody. I don't think he's paying.
- 30:40But by all but all means, you tally.
- 30:42You talk about it, You talk about a stretch five that can do
- 30:45that stuff. He he fit.
- 30:48But The thing is with him is like he plays more of a he is a
- 30:51stretch 5, but he plays a little bit bigger too.
- 30:54Like, I think more, you know, Mike Young's centers are like he
- 30:58likes him to play a little bit less big than that that kid
- 31:02does. But I mean, I don't know.
- 31:04I'd like to see him in Blacksburg.
- 31:06I think it sells some tickets at least.
- 31:09Touché touché. Sell some T-shirts or nothing
- 31:12else. And you know how many goggles?
- 31:13You know how many goggles some kids will go by?
- 31:17Goggles up, man. Let let me ask you all this
- 31:20because we talked about a little bit last night in Shelton.
- 31:23We didn't get your opinion on it.
- 31:25How big of a deal is it? What's about to be passed in
- 31:29here in Virginia with the nil stuff?
- 31:32Because we got a chance to mention it last night and you
- 31:35know, we kind of know our own opinions on it and y'all can
- 31:37check that out. What do you think of it?
- 31:40Like how big of a deal is it? I think it's.
- 31:43I think it's awesome. I think Virginia's kind of
- 31:45getting a head start in this. You know being able to to work
- 31:48to work the NIL funds through the athletic department which
- 31:51what I understand is going on here.
- 31:53I feel like NIL is such a, it's such a weird shady concept where
- 31:58you've basically got this you know third party slush fund all
- 32:01these you know the paying customers are are crowdsourcing
- 32:04essentially the, the salaries of the players.
- 32:06I mean no you can't say salary but like that's what it is
- 32:08you're you're paying guys essentially you know through
- 32:10advertisements And so we're footing we're like we're we the
- 32:14customers are footing the bill for not only the nil stuff but
- 32:17also the facilities you know the staffing, the operations budget
- 32:20like it's all coming through donations.
- 32:22So it's like what I mean what are we doing here?
- 32:23So I, I my hope is that eventually in the future we can
- 32:27have some sort of, you know, revenue sharing, collective
- 32:30bargaining type of model because I think that's the only
- 32:31sustainable way. Like asking you know, the fans
- 32:34to, you know, donate on top of, you know, the facility stuff,
- 32:38the nil as well. And then having it operate
- 32:40through these collectives where, you know, they operate in
- 32:42complete secrecy. You don't know the exact
- 32:44numbers, you don't know where they're putting the money.
- 32:46They can decide to put it wherever they want to.
- 32:49It's just kind of a mess. So anything to get more clarity
- 32:51and transparency and funnel the the, the fundraising efforts to
- 32:54the athletic department I think would be a great thing.
- 32:58Yeah. And I think you'll see those
- 33:00collectives turn into more of like kind of the the marketing
- 33:04arm, the the arbiters of the GO betweens between those
- 33:09opportunities and the athletic department not necessarily fully
- 33:13absorbed but still kind of a a partnership.
- 33:15But you you don't necessarily have to have the money fully
- 33:18going into into that Ave. It can be allocated to those
- 33:23efforts through the school as you said some.
- 33:26I think that makes it a little more, a little more above board
- 33:29and it lets it gives the school some flexibility as far as what
- 33:32they want to earmark for nil, how they want to earmark money
- 33:36for facilities improvements and things like that.
- 33:39They have a little bit more flexibility with how that it
- 33:42gets managed because it's no longer, it doesn't have to be in
- 33:44two different buckets anymore. Yeah, and that's that's a
- 33:47problem for tech basketball is that like if you cannot donate
- 33:50to Triumph and donate to basketball specifically, like if
- 33:53you give the Triumph, Triumph decides where that money goes.
- 33:55You do not have any say in where the money goes.
- 33:57So if they're putting them into football, it's going to football
- 34:00and you can, you can, you cannot do anything about it.
- 34:03So I think you know, getting getting rid of that system would
- 34:05be good. All righty.
- 34:08Well, as as everything goes down in the next few years, we'll
- 34:12definitely be keeping an eye talking about it.
- 34:14Now before we get into everything spring game, we are
- 34:19going to take a quick pause from our digital partners and Main
- 34:22Street Pharmacy. I can probably save you a lot of
- 34:26money and I can take a lot better care of you.
- 34:29That's pretty much it. My name is Jeremy Counts and I'm
- 34:31a pharmacist. I own and operate Main Street
- 34:34Pharmacy here in downtown Blacksburg.
- 34:36My brother's a pharmacist. I'm a pharmacist.
- 34:37My uncle's a pharmacist. My dad's a pharmacist.
- 34:39I remember he would give me M and Ms. to count in little pill
- 34:42counters. This is something I've always
- 34:44done and I'm just lucky that what I know so well is something
- 34:48that I can do and feel good about it and get back to people.
- 34:51Pharmacies are your frontline defense.
- 34:53Pharmacy's job is to make sure you're getting optimal care for
- 34:56the lowest price possible. Also, we take the pressure off
- 35:00of emergency rooms. I'll tell people immediately
- 35:02when they need to go to the doctor, or I'll tell them if
- 35:04they just need a cream over the counter.
- 35:06If there's something that isn't commercially available, if it's
- 35:08something that's not available in a certain strength or a
- 35:11certain form or anything like that, we'll make it tailor made
- 35:14medications. Some of those options save
- 35:15people a lot of money. What motivates me?
- 35:17I get to take care of people and limit Blacksburg.
- 35:20That's all neat. As we take a quick break, we'd
- 35:24like to tell you about getting your free website report from
- 35:27our digital partner, Grassroots Digital Marketing Studio.
- 35:30They'll tell you how your website ranks on Google, on site
- 35:33SEO and social media. No commitment to buy anything.
- 35:36You can get your free report by visiting grassroots
- 35:39digitalstudio.com/free Dash website Dash Report.
- 35:44Now back to the episode. All righty.
- 35:47So before we get into diving, talking a little bit about the
- 35:51spring game itself, there are a few things going on down in
- 35:55Blacksburg over this weekend and unfortunately Sheldon's going to
- 35:58be in Texas. I got youth baseball tally
- 36:02traveling next week for work, so he can't come up.
- 36:04Brian is our lone man, lone Wolf and Brian, what all you got
- 36:11going on, you're going to be doing up in the burg over the
- 36:13weekend? Yeah, so me and me and Wifey are
- 36:16heading up there. We're taking off from here about
- 36:19lunchtime on Friday. We'll be heading to the Spring
- 36:23Jam on Friday night, and we got the big pregame show the next
- 36:30day at Tots 12:15 PM. Everybody be there.
- 36:35It's going to be yours truly. There's going to be folks from
- 36:39Sons of Saturday Too Deep Tales from the Terror Dome.
- 36:46Virginia Tech is for Lovers, BT for L Crew.
- 36:49We got drift there. So it's going to be a little bit
- 36:52everybody. So pull through, have some
- 36:55questions for us, interact with us, get a get a get a rail, get
- 36:59a get a beer, have a good time and then we'll be we'll be
- 37:04probably be up on on Chicken Hill for a little bit in the
- 37:06morning. So come, come, swing by there
- 37:08and see us too. Yeah, we did that pregame.
- 37:11We did that pregame show. Pete did a good job last year
- 37:15putting everything together, having everybody in the right
- 37:17spot. So shout out to Pete B last year
- 37:20for putting that together. But it was a good time, man.
- 37:23I mean it was the who's who, you know, Cam Chance was walking
- 37:27through, Wyatt Tell was walking through, you know, as of last
- 37:30year, I don't know who's going to be that this year, but I'm
- 37:32just saying if you got time to to show up to the the pregame,
- 37:38the pregame show, it was definitely a good time.
- 37:41I recommend everybody stop by there and stop by there and show
- 37:44some love, man. And and if you can't make it,
- 37:46it's going to be on Suns Twitter or Twitter.
- 37:50Suns YouTube, our YouTube. So go grab it wherever you can.
- 37:55It'll be live at 12:15. The question is how many rails
- 37:58are you having Brian during the episode?
- 38:01I mean, you know, I I've, I've been told that if you do more
- 38:05than two in a three hour sitting, you're an animal.
- 38:07So I guess it won't be an animal.
- 38:08You can be an animal. Wait a second.
- 38:10When we went up for the Pit game, me and you both had two in
- 38:13like an hour sitting. Yeah, we're kind of crazy.
- 38:16You know? I drink I drink 1/5 of Evan
- 38:19Williams on this podcast so. I think Jeremy's we're.
- 38:22We're not. We're not the barometer for
- 38:24responsible consumption of alcohol here.
- 38:27Yeah, I think, Jeremy said. He's going to have his baby girl
- 38:29with him. So Oh my God, he might be if
- 38:32he's got the if he's got the baby on the little, you know the
- 38:34thing that you carry on your. He'll look like Allen from.
- 38:38He's going to be like Halloween from the hangover, that thing,
- 38:42so that'd be cool. We see him like that all.
- 38:45Righty. Well, Brian, enjoy it, man.
- 38:47We look forward to some pics and you your stories for it next
- 38:50weekend. All right, well, let's get into
- 38:52the spring game itself. And today, Darren Coach prize
- 38:56interview. Hold on, hold on, Kevin.
- 39:00If you're going to be up, you swing by tots at 12:15 and Brian
- 39:05will buy you a rail. It is the signature drink at
- 39:08Tots in Blacksburg. It's every what is it?
- 39:14It's every rail. Drink every rail liquor you get
- 39:19a little bit of, a little bit of juice topped off at the end
- 39:22there, just. To don't do that.
- 39:23Keep it smooth, Don't. Do it.
- 39:26Just enough to keep it smooth at the end there.
- 39:28Yeah, it. It'll it'll get you feeling
- 39:31good. If you ask somebody what a drink
- 39:33is and they can't give you a straight answer, don't fucking
- 39:35drink it. It's good.
- 39:37That's all I can say. I had my first.
- 39:39It it'll creep up on you. It's a.
- 39:40Creeper It will. Yes, it will.
- 39:42I don't. Let's talk.
- 39:43Let's talk about now Coach Pratt kind of revealed the format
- 39:46today. First half regular clock, the
- 39:49first quarter, 15 minutes, 12 minutes, second quarter and then
- 39:55basically running clock in the second-half of 212 minutes.
- 39:59As you all know, this is where my pain point is when it comes
- 40:02to the spring game because unfortunately Coach Pratt broke
- 40:06my heart again this year and we going to have split rosters
- 40:09again. If I chill, y'all chuckling.
- 40:14Curtis upset that probably after after we had proud last year
- 40:18that he didn't listen to him. Hey but you know what he's
- 40:23staying true to form though it's it.
- 40:25We ain't there depth wise we ain't there depth wise.
- 40:29And and I get it and and I get with the split rosters and
- 40:32everything where you still want to see guys compete because you
- 40:35know you you do get a feeling that probably there were guys
- 40:40who took some meaningful reps in the second-half that may have
- 40:43made themselves on special teams, may have made themselves
- 40:47get some snaps. So I get it, but you know I I I
- 40:51just want to see one one. I want to see the best line
- 40:53against the best line, the best quarters get the best wide out.
- 40:56I I think we're finally at a point where split rosters from a
- 40:59depth standpoint is going to look a little bit better.
- 41:03I do feel like we've got seven or eight reliable offensive
- 41:07lineman now that's not quite a full, full 2 lines there, but I
- 41:11think we're getting a little bit closer to what that looks like
- 41:14most concerned. I don't even see the position,
- 41:17right? Yeah, I don't even need to see
- 41:19some people this year. I know what they look like.
- 41:22He put QB One in a bubble. Leave him on the sideline.
- 41:26We know what he can do. Shoot.
- 41:30God Dang. I can't even think.
- 41:32The wide receivers, the old ones, we all need to see what
- 41:36they can do. We know what they can do.
- 41:38The top four. Hey, leave them alone.
- 41:41Don't two. Leave them alone.
- 41:45He carried the ball enough. He he ran enough.
- 41:47He was jumping over people against fucking Florida State.
- 41:51I don't need to see him in a practice game, you know?
- 41:53I'm fine. When we get to the offensive
- 41:55side a little while, I know exactly as tallies will be like
- 41:57one word don't play or two words don't play.
- 42:00Let's talk, Let's talk. We got new guy.
- 42:02We got new king in here again. New king.
- 42:04We have to get you when we play Miami, man.
- 42:06We need to get you on this show, on this show before and after,
- 42:10'cause, hey, we appreciate you popping in, man.
- 42:12Absolutely. It started, it started off as a
- 42:15as a as a rivalry, but now between me and you it's a it's a
- 42:19a a civil rivalry, A sibling rivalry.
- 42:22So you hey, we going to get you on here and.
- 42:25We're going to bust your ass, but we going to have you on here
- 42:27and have. We're going to get you on here,
- 42:29man. Have a good time.
- 42:30Appreciate you for popping in. Reaching across the bounds of of
- 42:36fandoms here, but let's talk about what we want to see in
- 42:39this game. And I want to start on defense
- 42:40because that's just where I wanted to start.
- 42:44And let's talk D line. 'Cause fuck, Y'all right, let's
- 42:48roll. There you go D line baby.
- 42:51D line Let's talk DNS. Hey, what?
- 42:55Well, we talked enough about, you know we'll talk about the
- 42:57offense because we know and Tally already put his statement
- 43:00on basically three position groups so he ain't going to have
- 43:03anything to say in 20 minutes here.
- 43:04But what we What are we looking at from the end?
- 43:07Because we feel like this is my feeling.
- 43:10AP Rs an absolute stud. Cole Nelson.
- 43:12Just Eddie. Eddie Burgos flashed and what do
- 43:17we, I mean, are we looking for? Do we need one?
- 43:19Do we need two? Do we need what do y'all want to
- 43:22see? Yeah, I don't care who takes it.
- 43:26Brian, come on, man, hit me with.
- 43:28You know what you know let let me get you know we going to get,
- 43:32are we going to see somewhere from CJ McRae, are we going.
- 43:37I need to know, man. I mean we've seen, we've seen a
- 43:40a little bit, but then we don't see him.
- 43:43So I'd like to know where he's at.
- 43:46It's flashes. Right.
- 43:47I've seen flashes and I I think I think if we're if we get some
- 43:50consistency, if he gets to that level where he's able to to put
- 43:54those pieces together consistently especially on non
- 43:58obvious passing downs. I mean because he's a he's a
- 44:00beast coming around that edge and he he gets after the
- 44:02quarterback and I think he does a good job of being disrupted.
- 44:06But I think sometimes when when that first move in working or he
- 44:10doesn't get his hands there right out the gate, that's when
- 44:12he struggles and can't kind of get 8 up and kind of get lost in
- 44:15the shuffle there. All right, so CJ Mcrae's Who's
- 44:19got y'all's eye on CJ looking a little bit bigger.
- 44:22They got him listed almost £250 this year where he'd been
- 44:25hindering that What 230? Sheldon, you got anything on the
- 44:28defensive ends? Not really, honestly.
- 44:31I mean, I like the continuity there.
- 44:33You know, I think I'm trying to professional a little bit.
- 44:36I mean you got most of the guys returning, I think it'll be a
- 44:40pretty solid unit. I know that I'm trying to think
- 44:43I believe it was Bill Connolly who said that returning
- 44:46production on the defensive line is actually more important than
- 44:50returning production to other positions.
- 44:51So if you have continuity there, I mean that's you're you're
- 44:54really set there. So I think I think the amount of
- 44:57returning production that tech has there is going to bode
- 44:59pretty well. So I'm excited to see, study and
- 45:01see how it turns out all. Righty, Now there is one other
- 45:05part of the defensive line, and that's defensive tackle Tally.
- 45:08Do you want any of the starting four to even play?
- 45:12Man, I don't even know. So I think what it is really,
- 45:15you know, I'm, I'm I'm saying stuff joking, but if you got
- 45:18some stuff where they're because they're they're football players
- 45:20and they got to play, they got to play football, you know what
- 45:22I mean? But when you got something in a
- 45:25setting like that, you know, it does show you who shows up, you
- 45:29know, when the lights come on. So if you got somebody that's
- 45:32battling for like a spot, you know, a two man, three man,
- 45:37whatever, because the name of the game for that defensive line
- 45:40has got to be depth. You know what I'm saying?
- 45:42I mean, you got a couple of top guys there, but you got to see
- 45:44what your depth pieces are. So I mean you got to go in and
- 45:48you got to see kind of who we're going to be able to put in
- 45:52because that's what what hurt us in the last couple of years was
- 45:55not having that death when one person went out or a certain
- 45:59person went out, you know that that that line crumbled.
- 46:01So or you know when when when Phil Darius Payne wasn't in, you
- 46:08know, it was, it was noticeable. You know when his his emergence
- 46:11came, the line went different. So you want to kind of find that
- 46:15early instead of, you know, and sometimes it does come later in
- 46:18the season, but if you can find that in the spring and then work
- 46:21on that all during the summer definitely helps.
- 46:24So with these guys, I think you know, we did bring in, you know,
- 46:29a couple of transfers and they well, you know it's going to
- 46:32play a lot of snaps for us. So you do want to see like how
- 46:34they move together. But it's always like a worry
- 46:37when you have the guys that are older guys that are going like
- 46:41do you want to see Peebles really play like you who kind of
- 46:45you know what he can do? Do you want to see him out
- 46:47there? You know, I don't know.
- 46:50Not for extended snaps. I think you want to kind of see
- 46:52him flash, get him some live reps against, you know, full
- 46:56speed competition. But I don't think you want to
- 46:59necessarily throw him out there for more than a quarter worth of
- 47:02snaps. I'm, I'm really interested to
- 47:06see what we get from Malachi Madison because I feel like we
- 47:10need to start seeing that fifth or sixth guy in the rotation
- 47:13knowing that you know a good number of the even the guys that
- 47:16we brought in in this cycle we're not going to have this
- 47:19time next year. So thinking long term, I I care
- 47:23about 2024, but I care. I also care about what we're
- 47:25going to look like in 2025 and 26 and getting a guy like
- 47:28Madison in there where he's kind of you know, showing what he can
- 47:32do. He can be a guy that can be a
- 47:34part of that rotation that that that one and two two group
- 47:37rotation. You know this time next year I
- 47:40think it's going to be important.
- 47:41So to me in spring game I'm looking for that five and six
- 47:44spot because I feel like you know one through 4 are pretty,
- 47:48pretty solid in terms of knowing what we can expect from them.
- 47:51I'd like to see Gilliam in in in some situations because I feel
- 47:54like he's probably got the least experience of the of the that
- 47:57first four. I'd like to see him get get some
- 48:00extra run and give him a few different looks against
- 48:03different offensive lineman there, but I think overall I
- 48:07want to see what that five and six guys look like in the
- 48:11rotation there. Yeah, you say that we already
- 48:13know Andrew Hanchuck that was mentioned that he will not play.
- 48:16He's nicked. He's already like scratched.
- 48:19Y'all. No prize feelings on that.
- 48:21Somebody slightly nicked. If they get nicked in the next
- 48:24few days, they they ain't playing.
- 48:26And I love that philosophy where I was more interested to see,
- 48:30especially with the new 4 because Brian, I think you're
- 48:32right, Kelvin Gilliam probably should be the transfer that
- 48:35plays the most because of his lack of time playing down at
- 48:39Oklahoma, so and. He's also the guy we have for
- 48:44the longest of that group, too. So yeah, it's.
- 48:46True, he's going to be here longer than well, him and
- 48:48Copeland are basically all the same.
- 48:49They got two years left. They can play this year next,
- 48:52but the bigger piece would what I wanted to see, we're probably
- 48:55not going to see it. I wanted to see how they rotate.
- 48:58I wanted to see who's in there with who do they let Fuga play
- 49:03someone or maybe even 0 because of who we have now right at
- 49:07three O 8. Do you say, listen, Gilliam's
- 49:10298 he can play over here to two, we can go to zero.
- 49:14We can run some different sets. I don't think we're going to see
- 49:16that because Brian, I think y'all are both right.
- 49:20I think Fuga, I think Copeland and I think people's, I think
- 49:29they're playing 1/4 and I don't think they're going to be on the
- 49:32field. And to Brian's point, who's five
- 49:34and six, is it Wilfred Penae, is it Malachi Madison?
- 49:37And then let Gilliam get in there and kind of be the lead
- 49:39dog. So I think just from this group
- 49:43it's I do want to see the cohesive unit.
- 49:45That's where I wanted that one. One where you had APR, Peebles,
- 49:50Fuga, because I do think Fuga is going to start just because of
- 49:53having that girth. And then Cole Nelson like to see
- 49:57that because of Sheldon's point returning production.
- 50:01And we have a very highly returning production line and
- 50:05we're dropping an all ACC defensive tackle right in the
- 50:08middle of it who produced last year.
- 50:11So couple things and we'll throw up here real quick.
- 50:15Big Mitch asked a question. Gunner is currently moved to the
- 50:18offensive line. He's moved to the offensive line
- 50:21very early in spring. And you know what?
- 50:24I'm going to put it up here for my buddy down to Miami.
- 50:26I want to see how they hold up against the run.
- 50:29So it'll be very interesting. All right, let's flip over.
- 50:33Let's talk about linebackers. Talk about the inside guys
- 50:38first, because, I mean, I mean, do y'all even want Bromfield to
- 50:44play? You hope he gets nicked tomorrow
- 50:45in practice and it's like, Nope, you ain't playing Saturday.
- 50:49Man, I'm I'm torn because I want to see him in action because, I
- 50:53mean with any transfer, I want to see those guys in action a
- 50:55little bit, especially guys that have played in different levels
- 51:01of competition. I kind of want to see how they
- 51:04acclimate, how they fit in, how quickly they're picking up the
- 51:06system, especially at a position like Mike Linebacker.
- 51:09By all accounts that I've heard, both direct and indirect, he's
- 51:14crushing it. So yeah, but I I'd love to see
- 51:17that in a live practice setting. Yeah, it's like spring game.
- 51:21Yeah, it's definitely like most guys that come in, if they're
- 51:24new to the team, you do want to see them in some kind of aspect.
- 51:27You know what I'm saying, 'cause you got to think like last year
- 51:30when we went, we had never seen Kyron live, you know what I
- 51:33mean? And so even though the spring
- 51:35game was like a piece of shit, you know as far as like who we
- 51:39had blocking for one. Like anybody who watch football.
- 51:42And again, you motherfuckers who don't listen.
- 51:46When we tried to tell you when we went and watched the game and
- 51:49we was like, yeah, yeah, that's what we expected.
- 51:51Like he got some juice and people was like, Oh no, he was
- 51:55doing this wrong. He was doing that right.
- 51:56I was like. Y'all start watching.
- 51:58He. I could have blocked better for
- 52:01him than they was blocking. You know what I'm saying?
- 52:03Like shit. And I got a bad Achilles and two
- 52:05bad knees. So hey, you do want to see him
- 52:09in some aspect just to see what they got when the lights turn
- 52:12on. So you know even if you don't
- 52:13get to see much like I'd like to see Brumfield and you know all
- 52:16of the new guys you want to see him at A at a just a little bit.
- 52:18But when I say something like you know like Tooton, like he's
- 52:21so valuable to our team and we've seen him on the team.
- 52:25Like I don't need to see nothing out of him.
- 52:27You know Kyra, like I I know that most people if you've got a
- 52:31non contact jersey on they'd like to see him spin it.
- 52:33But like we know what he can do. You know what I'm saying?
- 52:36Don't don't let him get touched. And and and that's it.
- 52:41You know, we don't want, we don't want anything to happen in
- 52:43the spring game. But you know, they don't want to
- 52:45get out there and they want to have some fun, man.
- 52:48And and another thing like even though it's not a full, you
- 52:52know, a full stadium, like those guys want to feel what Lane
- 52:58Stadium is, you know what I'm saying?
- 53:00So like they want to see what the live action is because you
- 53:03either you know, heard about it or you've seen it or you know
- 53:06they've been pumping noise to you or people who play, they've
- 53:08talked to you about it. So you want to give them some
- 53:10kind of taste of it because you know they they're going to be
- 53:13juiced, you know they're going to be juiced to to to be out
- 53:15there and perform in front of the the home, the home fans.
- 53:20But then also, you know, they just give you a Segway to go
- 53:23into the season. So I like to see them get a
- 53:26little bit of run. You know, I I don't want to
- 53:29bring up something that we brought up the last two off
- 53:31seasons, but you know the the presser happened today, you
- 53:35know, probably was talking about some folks and you know whose
- 53:36name came up, right? Whose name came up?
- 53:39Brian. Jayden Keller's name came up.
- 53:42Jayden Keller's crushing it guys.
- 53:45The the the difference that I'm hearing in this one though, is
- 53:48that and he he brought it up when he was talking about.
- 53:51He's like, he's always been a great practice player.
- 53:54He's starting to put it together in the scrimmages.
- 53:56He's starting to see consistency in the scrimmages and hopefully
- 54:01that translates to being more consistent in games come fall
- 54:07because you know we we've seen the potential there.
- 54:09We've seen you know, good athleticism, you know brings the
- 54:14lumber, but just hasn't always been a a very consistent player
- 54:18once he gets on the field. So we'll see if that translates
- 54:21this to. Let's go around.
- 54:23I think what, like one of our big problems that we've had, you
- 54:27know, at Virginia Tech for a long time is that like we didn't
- 54:30have, you know, the luxury of of letting players like develop,
- 54:34you know what I'm saying? Like when we got somebody and
- 54:36they had something like you got to fucking play, we don't, we
- 54:40don't have anybody else. You got to go play.
- 54:43So you know, sometimes we can have leadership in certain rooms
- 54:46or we didn't have like because all of them, they all may be.
- 54:49Dax played way too many. Dax played way too many snaps in
- 54:522018. Right, right.
- 54:54You know what I mean? So just things like that.
- 54:56So I think with them bringing in certain players and then having
- 54:59a little bit of experience and things like that.
- 55:03And maybe it's more than football.
- 55:05Like you got to see how somebody attacks practice or how somebody
- 55:10you know goes out and then goes home and goes to bed and what
- 55:15time. Like you got to see people grow
- 55:17up and be men to know how to do that.
- 55:19And I'm not saying that's what, you know, Keller's problem may
- 55:22have been, but that's like that's what college athletes go
- 55:25through. So if you got everybody that's
- 55:27kind of at that same maturity level, then it's hard for them
- 55:32to progress. But like, if you go look at like
- 55:35our receiving room right now, you know what I'm saying?
- 55:37Like we got some receivers that have some experience so they're
- 55:40able to talk to the younger receivers about, you know,
- 55:44things you can do when you make a mistake or you know, coming
- 55:48out of your break this way or like I said, even after
- 55:51practice, you know, maybe you'll need to go play the game, maybe
- 55:54you need to go get in the in the cold tub or maybe you need to
- 55:56get in the hot tub. Just things like that.
- 55:58So I think having somebody like Brownfield come in because they
- 56:02talk about how like super smart he is just like off the field.
- 56:07So I'm sure like he's probably taking care of his body.
- 56:10He's like I think he may have like a four point O or something
- 56:12I got to go back and look at it but he's got you know they say
- 56:15he's super smart. So I'm sure he's telling that
- 56:17that linebacker room like this is what I do you know this is
- 56:21how I do it. So I'm hoping people follow that
- 56:24lead and and move forward. Because once, once I got named,
- 56:27that came in last year, the cornerback that left Shoot.
- 56:35He started. Yeah, what's his name?
- 56:38I just lost his name. I just.
- 56:40Lost Sheldon, You got anybody? Brian, you can't remember my
- 56:44guy, I got it came in last year. Went from Georgia.
- 56:48Yeah, it came from like Georgia Southern or something.
- 56:52Yeah, well, he. Canteen.
- 56:54Canteen. So yeah, like when you think
- 56:58about Canteen coming in, you know what I'm saying?
- 57:01Last year and everybody raved about how he, how he attacked
- 57:04practice and and how he was such a like have a pro mindset and
- 57:09then you go look at on the field like we had a lot of adversity,
- 57:12right. So we had a lot of adversity but
- 57:14we and we had a lot of young guys.
- 57:16But if you look at how they grew up, that's because they have
- 57:18some, you know, they have some leadership in front of them like
- 57:23Dorian Strong and Canteen, those guys.
- 57:26And then like Monsoor, he's young.
- 57:29You know, he played great, but he was young.
- 57:31So, you know, Canteen came in and he was able to to help just
- 57:35like lift the floor of that room.
- 57:37So I think that's what you want when you bring in those older
- 57:40guys. Yeah, a. 100%, I think.
- 57:42Thank y'all chat. Thank y'all chat for for letting
- 57:44me know. Look at our look at our Miami
- 57:46guy hopping in that. Even knows him, even though he
- 57:49even knows him. But I think the other thing
- 57:52about the Broomfield pieces, what it's going to do to help
- 57:55the other positions, because we know like Caleb Woodson's
- 57:57playing some Will. We know we've got McDonald
- 57:59playing Will. Obviously, the way Pry has
- 58:02mentioned it, Keller's playing Will.
- 58:05And to have a guy who knows exactly what's going to go on on
- 58:09every play where everybody's supposed to be every single
- 58:12time, that's what we were missing last year.
- 58:15It was like if we could roll reverse and have we got a red
- 58:18shirted Dax, Dax in 2022, that defense, which was good last
- 58:22year, would have even taken another step.
- 58:24So it's interesting to see how they like you're saying tally
- 58:27what you're saying, Ron, how a guy with that much experience
- 58:32who's doing all the right stuff not only off the field but
- 58:35making the right calls on the field, how much more confidence
- 58:39that can come. Now I'm going to flip to the
- 58:41outside position because with Star, you know there's Jenkins,
- 58:45but the way the room set up with guys like Gabe Williams, with
- 58:49Caleb Woodson going inside, I think Starr's going to be the
- 58:52most fascinating position potentially to watch on the
- 58:54defensive side of the ball because Jenkins is going to
- 59:00play. But I think some of those
- 59:03younger guys are going to steal more snaps from him this year.
- 59:06And I don't know if it's going to be Gabe because we heard from
- 59:09Robbie just last last week. Gabe was out there running with
- 59:12ones. Gabe was out there running with
- 59:15the ones as a true freshman. So, and I know that could just
- 59:20be. You know what?
- 59:21It's well Jenkins was next. So I mean he was next man up in
- 59:23this case because Woodson's been working some inside.
- 59:26So you know, but I I think it's going to be good to see who's
- 59:31working at that position not named Jenkins, whether you know
- 59:35is you know Woodson still some star some some Will is Gabe kind
- 59:40of the first man up. You know I know I know Gabe from
- 59:43a talent standpoint I think is ready, I think maybe from a
- 59:47physical build maybe isn't quite ready for you know first team or
- 59:52kind of first guy up reps. So we'll we'll see if he
- 59:55develops into that. I just want to see him out
- 59:58there. Yeah, a lot of times it don't
- 1:00:00matter if you're ready or not, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:00:01When it deals with with football or even you know, a team that's
- 1:00:05up and coming like we are because of you think like most
- 1:00:10Phillips, right? Was he ready?
- 1:00:12We don't know. He looked like he was, but his
- 1:00:14body looked like it was. But like somebody's going to get
- 1:00:17nicked, you know, and that's one of it.
- 1:00:18That's been one of Jenkins things like he he's had, you
- 1:00:21know, injury problems that may not keep him out a long time.
- 1:00:25Like I don't think he's had like super big injuries, but he's had
- 1:00:27those nagging injuries and things like that.
- 1:00:30So we got to find somebody to go in behind him, so.
- 1:00:33He's gotten nicked there in games where he's missed 1/4.
- 1:00:36Right. What you don't need is like you
- 1:00:39again, This year's that perfect year, like the young guy, hey,
- 1:00:41listen, he, he just got nicked. You got to play the whole second
- 1:00:44quarter and you've got to be ready to play and this is a
- 1:00:47very, you know, big position for us.
- 1:00:49Put up Leroy, put up Leroy's statement.
- 1:00:51Right, Leroy, because we're going to go to that room.
- 1:00:54Sheldon, anything on the linebacker room you're looking
- 1:00:56for this week? I know we've been talking.
- 1:00:58Sheldon's been there calmly, you know, fine and canteen thing.
- 1:01:01Anything you're looking for in that room?
- 1:01:04I mean, just to see how Brumfield plays, like I was, I
- 1:01:07was watching this interview on the The Hocus Sports YouTube
- 1:01:10channel and that dude is just absolutely jacked, man.
- 1:01:13Like I cannot. Wait to have.
- 1:01:15Cannot wait to have that size and he you know he seems he
- 1:01:18seems like a really good dude too just you know has just has
- 1:01:21has his mind right and seems like he you know is a really
- 1:01:25good team player. So I just, I can't wait to see,
- 1:01:27you know, him kind of where he kind of fits in and just, you
- 1:01:29know, to have someone who can make plays and you know, play
- 1:01:32with, you know, with their with their heels, you know, going
- 1:01:36forward, I guess for lack of a better term.
- 1:01:37And just you know, with an edge and not, you know, always always
- 1:01:40put on the heels like that's something that the Steinbecker
- 1:01:42really needs. So I'm looking to see how it
- 1:01:44kind of fits in there. Yeah, and just just so like
- 1:01:46Tyler, you were asking. There's tape out there on
- 1:01:50Bromfield. They played against Alabama and
- 1:01:51Missouri last year. He had 10 tackles in those
- 1:01:54games. He had a forced fumble, 2
- 1:01:56tackles for loss in a sack. So he's played against the
- 1:01:59league competition and you know somebody will say, well, he got
- 1:02:01his stuff late, he got all like, I don't care because even if
- 1:02:05you're playing the third stringers against those teams,
- 1:02:06you're playing against good competition.
- 1:02:08So that'll be interesting to see.
- 1:02:10Let's flip it over. We already had the man mention
- 1:02:12that Leroy mentioned it down here about Moss Phillips, the
- 1:02:15defensive backroom and and the safety.
- 1:02:19A lot of competition in there, man.
- 1:02:22A lot of competition in in those rooms, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:02:25So, oh, 100% the reason we brought Mos Phillips name up.
- 1:02:28I mean, it's kind of like we seen him in the in the spring
- 1:02:32game last year, right? You know what I'm saying?
- 1:02:34It's like, damn, you know, it's going to be some BMF awards.
- 1:02:37But you like, you look at him, he wasn't like, you know,
- 1:02:41abnormally big. Like we've seen some people.
- 1:02:43But at the same time, like, he was well built for a freshman to
- 1:02:47think about, oh, he's supposed to be in high school, but he's
- 1:02:49already playing and he was thumping like he was hitting.
- 1:02:52So we knew like, Oh well, he might get some run on.
- 1:02:55I think if we go back, I had to go back and look at the tape I
- 1:02:57think we talk about. But he probably would be a good,
- 1:02:59you know, special teams player, get some snaps like that, but
- 1:03:03somebody gets hurt you the next man up.
- 1:03:06And then he went in, yeah, he went in and he played, you know,
- 1:03:09he played Admirable for what? For for the age that he is.
- 1:03:15So yeah, seeing him again, you know, watching a little film on
- 1:03:18him and seeing like his growth and stuff like that, like Lee,
- 1:03:21Ron, I'm with you. I believe he is ready and we
- 1:03:24need all that, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:03:26Because Iron's got a sharpened iron, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:03:28And and somebody's going to get nicked, somebody's going to turn
- 1:03:31their ankle. Now I don't want any of these
- 1:03:32kids to get hurt, but it's football.
- 1:03:34Somebody's going, you know, get their hand smashed in the hell
- 1:03:37and have to come out. So that one play, it's usually
- 1:03:40the play that we get gashed or we get, you know, a bomb thrown
- 1:03:44on us because we have to throw somebody in there that's not
- 1:03:46ready to go. So if you got that next man up
- 1:03:48that goes in there and plays sometimes, that's how you get
- 1:03:50your spot. Yep.
- 1:03:52And I think we're looking at, you know you you talked about
- 1:03:56most Phillips last year. I think we're looking at
- 1:03:58back-to-back years of true freshman safeties coming in and
- 1:04:02being contributors in year 1 Phillips last year.
- 1:04:06I think you go ahead and and Mark Quinn reddish in that in
- 1:04:09that bucket and I I think we're going to see a lot of him in the
- 1:04:13spring game and I think we're going to see probably more than
- 1:04:15a lot of people expected of him come the fall.
- 1:04:20I know it's a position that we aren't we're we're we're getting
- 1:04:24more depth there but it's still a very young position outside of
- 1:04:26one or two guys or at least inexperienced when you think
- 1:04:30about a guy like Jalen Jones that's only been playing the
- 1:04:32position for one year. So but a lot of competition for
- 1:04:36those, you know that too deep rotation and you know you got
- 1:04:39you got about six guys now that are going to I think be heavy in
- 1:04:41that competition leading up to the start of the season.
- 1:04:44So I'm interested to see some of these younger guys get out there
- 1:04:48and show us what they can do in the spring game.
- 1:04:50Showing anything on the safety room other than, I mean, I think
- 1:04:54we're going to see a, it's going to be a lot of safeties on the
- 1:04:57field. I don't think even most is going
- 1:04:58to get a lot of rest. Yeah, I mean, they played a ton
- 1:05:02of guys last year at that spot. I know partly due to injuries
- 1:05:05and you know, guys getting ejected like Woodson, Stroman,
- 1:05:08Jones, Phillips, Jenkins. People, that's one thing we know
- 1:05:13about Stroman. He get dejected it.
- 1:05:16Will it will continue to happen. So they played, I mean they
- 1:05:19probably played like six or seven guys like you know over
- 1:05:21100 snaps there. They did not add any any
- 1:05:25safeties via the transfer portal.
- 1:05:27So it seems like Pride and his staff are kind of you know,
- 1:05:29betting on some of those younger guys stepping up and you know
- 1:05:32obviously with with with Jenkins and Sherman kind of leading the
- 1:05:38way that's, you know, that's a good thing.
- 1:05:39So I mean it seems like they're counting on on that room to kind
- 1:05:42of be you know take the next leap.
- 1:05:44And so I'm a trusted staff and hope they can do that.
- 1:05:46So I think, I guess we can, it'll be a little bit of a of a
- 1:05:48precursor that we'll see if they can step up.
- 1:05:51Absolutely freaking Lutely. All right, let's go.
- 1:05:53Just real quick. Corner room, strong, delaying.
- 1:05:56We know that's locked down. I I think what we've seen it's
- 1:06:01it's going to be Lovett, Johnson and who's the 3rd that comes out
- 1:06:06of there. Do y'all have anybody because
- 1:06:07Lovin and Johnson are going to play.
- 1:06:09They played last year and and we'll take a phrase that tally
- 1:06:13said they played admirably last year to be a true freshman.
- 1:06:17They both played very admirably. But obviously you want that 5th
- 1:06:22and 6th because what it is, is when you go to nickel, we know
- 1:06:27Dorian is likely going to slide. We want more than just one guy.
- 1:06:31So who? Who is it?
- 1:06:34What's the name that come come Monday or come Sunday afternoon?
- 1:06:40Because Tally and me will probably watch it later in the
- 1:06:42day. Sheldon's gonna probably watch
- 1:06:44it in San Antonio late night. What's the one name we're going
- 1:06:48to say that kids will get a ton of snaps this year?
- 1:06:53Corner I don't know. I I.
- 1:06:56I don't even have an answer. Brian, who you thinking?
- 1:06:59You know what? I'm going dark horse here, and
- 1:07:01I'm keeping it consistent in the secondary with true freshmen
- 1:07:04coming in and making a little bit of noise.
- 1:07:07I think we're going to see more of Joshua Clark than I think a
- 1:07:09lot of people think all. Right.
- 1:07:13John, you got any feelings on this?
- 1:07:17Maybe Dante Lovett? All right.
- 1:07:21Don't we think Love would say it's?
- 1:07:24It's really tough to shy away from Clark because of the build,
- 1:07:27but I'd say keep an eye on Jonathan Pennix.
- 1:07:30Keep an eye on Jonathan Pennix because I think that room I
- 1:07:35think there's after spring. I think at least one corners
- 1:07:39leaving, just like I think there's at least one safety
- 1:07:42leaving at the end of spring because that.
- 1:07:45Other guy to keep an eye on probably is going to be
- 1:07:47Christian Williams. I mean, I know they said he was
- 1:07:49Nick, but Pry said he should be ready to go for the spring game,
- 1:07:53so. And see that's and that's and
- 1:07:56that is the now. Now I'm going to say why, why I
- 1:07:58like prize system? Because with doing this, those
- 1:08:04guys are going to get so much playing time, so much playing
- 1:08:08time this week because Dorian and all the guys we know that
- 1:08:12can play, they're off the field. Yeah, you're you're already
- 1:08:15splitting your your number one and #2 and then you take away
- 1:08:18the fact they're probably only going to play for one quarter
- 1:08:20Max. So those young guys are going to
- 1:08:22get a lot of run. I'm excited to see it.
- 1:08:25All righty. So that closes out the defense.
- 1:08:28Now let's go to the offensive side of the football, where
- 1:08:31Kelly's already stated everything he wants to stayed on
- 1:08:33three of the four position rooms.
- 1:08:34I know what he's going to say at the offensive line, but I'll let
- 1:08:36him get that in in a minute. Quarterback room, we know it's
- 1:08:41going to be no contact. And to me, after Coward Places
- 1:08:47two series, Pop and Dylan, somebody got show out because
- 1:08:56these guys are the same class, they're the same age, they both
- 1:08:59read charity last year. Whoever pops is going to be the
- 1:09:04backup. No pun intended.
- 1:09:07Oh, Alvin said. No, he he said the name already.
- 1:09:10So perfect. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:14I mean, that's what it is. Go go ahead, bro.
- 1:09:16I was just going to say that, you know, it's from from what it
- 1:09:19sounds like, from what Pride was saying at the press earlier
- 1:09:21today. You know, Wiki probably a little
- 1:09:24bit better grasp with the system at the start of spring.
- 1:09:26But it seems like Pop is kind of past him in terms of the
- 1:09:29day-to-day production, what he's done in the scrimmages.
- 1:09:33You know, we saw him you know throw a throw a few darts last
- 1:09:36year. He he's he's really fast too.
- 1:09:40He, he runs really well. So it looks like he's put on a
- 1:09:44little bit more weight compared to where he was as a true
- 1:09:47freshman. So I'm looking forward to seeing
- 1:09:49what he's what he's going to bring to the table.
- 1:09:52I feel like he is going to be I think he's going to win the back
- 1:09:56of battle. I think Wiki's going to be still
- 1:09:59a guy that's going to be in the mix but does he stay through
- 1:10:03fall But I I it's it's hard to I think he stays I think he stays
- 1:10:07I I don't it's it's hard to it's hard to say I I don't think we
- 1:10:12can afford him to leave just because we don't have that many
- 1:10:14scholarship quarterbacks on the roster if we had one more
- 1:10:19scholarship quarterback on the roster but I I you know.
- 1:10:21You got Dobby coming in, yeah. Dobby's coming in in the summer,
- 1:10:24so. Yeah, you do.
- 1:10:27Brian's like that. Ain't that ain't enough.
- 1:10:29I won't. But I I I don't necessarily know
- 1:10:31if I want a true freshman in a month and 1/2 into his his
- 1:10:36tenure being your your #3. Yeah, I understand.
- 1:10:40That's just me. Yeah, I don't think he leaves
- 1:10:44after like a spring, you know what I mean?
- 1:10:46What, You never know. Transfer portal stuff now, man.
- 1:10:49You never know. You never know what's happening,
- 1:10:51what people are thinking. But Pop's going to be the
- 1:10:54backup. I mean, he's got a little bit of
- 1:10:57umph to him that's a little bit different than any of the other
- 1:11:02backup quarterbacks. But that's just what that's just
- 1:11:05what I'm looking at it, what I'm seeing.
- 1:11:07But it's so hard to see. It's so hard to.
- 1:11:12Again, it's still similar to kind of what we seen with Kyra
- 1:11:15last year and you got to be careful with your quarterbacks.
- 1:11:19But like Pop has something that's a little different that
- 1:11:23you can't really see in a spring game or you can't really see
- 1:11:26100% in practice. Yeah, until it's, you know what
- 1:11:30I'm saying? Until it's full speed.
- 1:11:32So because he might break a run, he might go for, you know, a 60
- 1:11:37yard run because he's so quick. He's so elusive.
- 1:11:39But you know you, you may, you're not going to get to see
- 1:11:42that because of the format of the game.
- 1:11:45Yeah. And I mean, I will say they
- 1:11:47they've been talked about in spring.
- 1:11:48They've taken the orange jerseys off the quarterbacks for, you
- 1:11:51know, parts of practice, parts of scrimmages.
- 1:11:54So I wonder if they do that with Pop and Wiki in this situation
- 1:11:59to kind of get a full feel of of what they can get in that type
- 1:12:03of format. Yeah, Sheldon, anything to add?
- 1:12:09Not really, man. I mean, I think Pop's got to put
- 1:12:11him some weight, but. That's true.
- 1:12:13Yeah, that's my biggest thing man.
- 1:12:15He's that frame is not going to cut it in.
- 1:12:17The ACCI will say that so. Pop, pop, pop.
- 1:12:21Just nothing but protein, right? Nothing but protein at the at
- 1:12:25the Health Center. Like here's a steak own
- 1:12:26franchise. No, you need another steak.
- 1:12:28Keep eating. All right, let's flip it here,
- 1:12:30because I think this is going to be one of the more intriguing
- 1:12:35rooms to watch. And that's going to be the
- 1:12:36offensive line, because Brian, I I know Brian follows it closely.
- 1:12:42It's something that you know, playing it for years tally you
- 1:12:45as well. But let me hear right now and I
- 1:12:49got to go off camera for just a second.
- 1:12:51But who is Y'all's eight man rotation?
- 1:13:00Tally you lead on this one. I mean, I don't care about an 8
- 1:13:04man. I just need to know if the
- 1:13:06people who have been here can do their job.
- 1:13:10If Parker Clemens is still here and he ain't started working at
- 1:13:13Rural King yet, can he block somebody in front of him?
- 1:13:18If Bob Schick is still on the on the team, can he not look like
- 1:13:24Bob Schitt? That's all I'm saying.
- 1:13:27The eight man rotation. I don't know what it's going to
- 1:13:30be. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:13:31I still feel like we need another trans for transfer
- 1:13:36offensive lineman, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:13:38But I don't know, I don't know. I don't know where they're going
- 1:13:41to go because I know they move people around.
- 1:13:43I know Crooks, you know, he's got his hands full.
- 1:13:45We're trying to plug things. But you know you'll see the
- 1:13:48Moore brothers and you probably see Parker and I'm hoping that
- 1:13:53Cunningham's throwing it now and he going to see shit too.
- 1:13:57But you know, you got a lot of young guys that I just don't
- 1:14:00know what they have yet because, you know, offers are all.
- 1:14:02I ain't even mentioned. I ain't even mentioned Chaplin,
- 1:14:07you know what I'm saying? So I think I just named six
- 1:14:10there. But you got to have that depth,
- 1:14:13but you want those top guys to produce, You know what I'm
- 1:14:17saying? If they're going to start or if
- 1:14:18they're going to be, you know, whatever you call it, this all
- 1:14:23practice player, I just want you to get in a game.
- 1:14:26Yeah, you block. That's what I want to see you
- 1:14:28do. And it's not like I understand
- 1:14:31blocking is hard. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:14:32I ain't saying like anybody can just get out there and do it.
- 1:14:34But if you're if you if you're consistently doing it in
- 1:14:39practice or you consistently, you know what I'm saying, doing
- 1:14:42the right things or if I can see you do the right thing one or
- 1:14:45two times, it's like that third time what what were you thinking
- 1:14:49here? You know what I'm saying?
- 1:14:50Your feet were so perfect on these couple of plays.
- 1:14:52But then we go to this pivotal down and it's a mental thing
- 1:14:57where you jump offsides or it's a mental thing where you taking
- 1:15:00false steps and things like that.
- 1:15:01So more than seeing like a more than seeing the eight man
- 1:15:08rotation, like I'm I'm looking at more like what are we doing
- 1:15:12pre snaps and what are we doing you know stepwise and things
- 1:15:15like that for the people who's already been here.
- 1:15:18And I know that Crook will be seeing the most of that, most of
- 1:15:20the other stuff and he'll work that out, you know what I'm
- 1:15:23saying? Because my, like, I got personal
- 1:15:25vendettas against some people on that line, you know?
- 1:15:29What I'm saying oh. Man, I got PTSD from some people
- 1:15:32on that line, man. If I ever see an offensive
- 1:15:35lineman and I can see his spikes pointed up to the sky, I don't
- 1:15:39ever want to see him on the field again.
- 1:15:41And I've seen a couple of people spikes to the sky.
- 1:15:44This is not a porno. Get your legs down.
- 1:15:50Curtis coming back Like where? How the hell did we get here?
- 1:15:55But as soon as I heard that, I know who he's talking about.
- 1:15:58So. All right.
- 1:15:58That's fair. That's fair.
- 1:15:59That's fair, right. I mean so you know we got
- 1:16:02Chaplain, we got the Moore brothers, we got Parker, we got
- 1:16:05Schick. We know whether whether they're
- 1:16:08start, whether they're starting or or not, those those are going
- 1:16:11to be, they're going to be in the mix.
- 1:16:14We still got to talk about Brody Meadows and Montavious
- 1:16:17Cunningham. So that's just seven.
- 1:16:19Where's 7? So let, let, let Johnny Garrett
- 1:16:24maybe 8, maybe 8 maybe 8. You know who else could we throw
- 1:16:29in there Probably Lathe Ganam. Yeah, lathe Ganam.
- 1:16:33There's been some talk about him.
- 1:16:35You know, the other the other kind of wild card would be what?
- 1:16:38What's what's Hans Hammer's development looking like?
- 1:16:41He's he's definitely got the meal.
- 1:16:43I hope you're good. That's a fucking good ass name.
- 1:16:47Like you got to be good like that sounds like a a wrestler
- 1:16:50name or something. It does, but it's it's so many
- 1:16:54of the guys that's come in the last few years, where do they
- 1:16:56step up to? Because y'all mention Brody.
- 1:16:59We mentioned Johnny who were a few years, but now you the The
- 1:17:02Gunner move and the Lamar Law move.
- 1:17:05Over. How do they play?
- 1:17:07Does it click for them over there where it didn't click on
- 1:17:10the defensive line and they're still, you know, the red shirt
- 1:17:13sophomores, Both of them. They still got three years left.
- 1:17:16It's still a chance, but. And I mean offensive line is one
- 1:17:22of those positions where if you're not starting your your
- 1:17:26second or third year on campus that you don't need to panic
- 1:17:29about whether that player is going to develop.
- 1:17:31Because a lot of times it takes two to three years for an
- 1:17:35offensive lineman to fully develop and and get to where
- 1:17:39they're going to be a consistent player for you.
- 1:17:40So nobody really hit the panic button on any of these young
- 1:17:44guys yet. And you know hopefully, you know
- 1:17:48a lot of them start getting cause for a lot of them it's
- 1:17:51just going to take getting on the field and getting the reps
- 1:17:53that that that's so much of of that puzzle.
- 1:17:57Because until you get those reps against live competition in real
- 1:18:00games, you know, sometimes it just doesn't doesn't happen for
- 1:18:04you. So getting opportunities in
- 1:18:06things like the spring game is going to be good for them.
- 1:18:09Now there were There is one scary thing that that I think we
- 1:18:12all are going I'm going to be glued to when I get a chance to
- 1:18:14watch a game. Who is the second person
- 1:18:17snapping the ball? Yeah.
- 1:18:21There's been no there has been and I'm going to have to get on.
- 1:18:26David Cunningham is going to be probably joining us next week at
- 1:18:29least. We're trying to get him on.
- 1:18:31There is no one has asked Pride or any of the coaches.
- 1:18:35That, and the only person that we saw snap a ball last year
- 1:18:39other than Kaden Moore was Jack Hollyfield.
- 1:18:42And he's gone. Yeah, it is.
- 1:18:45So we have one center that's that's scary time.
- 1:18:52So it's going to be interesting when that comes out.
- 1:18:54I don't know if it'll be Friday night.
- 1:18:56Saturday morning, Who's the center on opposite Kaden Moore.
- 1:19:01Yeah, because that's a good question.
- 1:19:05But I. But overall, I think the
- 1:19:07offensive line, where this offensive line was in 2022 to
- 1:19:10where it is now, God, we mentioned 7-8 guys that we feel
- 1:19:14like, OK, they can at least play.
- 1:19:17They might occasionally get their spikes up and tally's
- 1:19:20going to be throwing things at the TV, but they also they can
- 1:19:24play. It's it's not like you're
- 1:19:25sitting over here like like this guy doesn't even deserve the
- 1:19:28field. It's so, yeah.
- 1:19:32Anything else you want to talk about on the offensive line?
- 1:19:37This block, that's all I want to see you do.
- 1:19:40Hold hands like you planned, Red Rover, if you got to and don't
- 1:19:45let somebody just push you down, do something.
- 1:19:50We was looking rough last year, man.
- 1:19:52Jesus Christ. We was getting flipped around,
- 1:19:53turned around, slapped up, flipped.
- 1:19:56Rub it down, Sheldon. That's what was happening.
- 1:20:01And somehow still better. Than I'm talking, I'm talking
- 1:20:03about in the spring game. I'm just talking about like all
- 1:20:06through the season. I'm just talking about spring
- 1:20:08game. But, but that, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:20:10during the season they got better.
- 1:20:12But Sheldon, to your point, from what, 365 days ago, Sheldon this
- 1:20:18The offensive line did get better.
- 1:20:20That's a testament to where it was.
- 1:20:23I don't feel the same degree of panic that I felt last year, and
- 1:20:26I definitely don't feel the same degree of panic I felt going
- 1:20:29into the first spring game. So brown we're.
- 1:20:31We're taking the. Spring game.
- 1:20:33Brown was sitting by mid the spring game.
- 1:20:34He's like we ain't going to see nothing.
- 1:20:37We can't. We can't see nothing.
- 1:20:39Look at him. Look at him.
- 1:20:42They was. I think that offensive line was
- 1:20:44blocking each other. Yeah, I'm like, man, come on it.
- 1:20:48Will snap. It will snap and two and touch
- 1:20:51Kyra. That's that's what we're saying.
- 1:20:53I was like, come on man, I just want to see, give, give, give
- 1:20:56me, give me 4 seconds. I just want to see 4 seconds or
- 1:20:59something. But yeah, dog, to Shelton's
- 1:21:01point though, you know, I'm joking and and and ragging on
- 1:21:04the offensive line during the season, of course, I mean we we
- 1:21:08sat on here plenty of times like they did get better.
- 1:21:10Now that's a testament. You know, the play column was a
- 1:21:14little bit different, but you know when you get some, when you
- 1:21:17get some confidence and you got a signal caller, it's got some
- 1:21:19confidence. I I think it gives your
- 1:21:21offensive line a little bit of confidence as well.
- 1:21:23So I'll be fired up for the boys, man.
- 1:21:26Let the Hogs go out here and do a little dancing.
- 1:21:27Maybe we'll do a a UVA tackle pass or something.
- 1:21:31Let somebody let somebody dive in the end zone.
- 1:21:34I don't know. Give Parker his booming in the
- 1:21:37sun. Yeah, all.
- 1:21:40Right, I'm going. To this Ain't that play right
- 1:21:41right around. Looks like I've lost in it.
- 1:21:45All right, just so y'all know, the dog is in here with me.
- 1:21:47She is being a something tonight.
- 1:21:49So you will hear barking for the remainder of this program,
- 1:21:52likely running backroom. Can I just say this is what I
- 1:21:56want to see? Because I don't know what tune
- 1:21:58is. We know what Thomas is.
- 1:22:00We have rave. We've heard their rave about
- 1:22:02Jeremiah Kony since the day he stepped on.
- 1:22:05I want to see him make some plays from the backfield, and
- 1:22:11why do I want to see him make plays?
- 1:22:12I want to see competition. I want Malachi Thomas to have to
- 1:22:15think he's coming for for for for the number two spot.
- 1:22:21He's coming. Yeah, well, The thing is too.
- 1:22:23And even when you say like, we know what Malachi Thomas is, we
- 1:22:26really don't like everything that we've seen other than he's
- 1:22:29been hurt most of the time. You know, we've seen him, we've
- 1:22:31seen him produce a little bit, but he's got hurt a lot.
- 1:22:34So I mean he's got a lot to prove this year.
- 1:22:37You know, if he's wanting to go forward and when two leaves,
- 1:22:40take that number one spot. So let's see.
- 1:22:44We've heard a lot about Tyler Mason as well though, you know
- 1:22:47the the, the true freshman. So let's see what he got.
- 1:22:52Yeah, I want to see a lot of Coney and Mason.
- 1:22:55I think that that's that's what I really want to see in the
- 1:22:57spring game. Give me a good run of Thomas.
- 1:23:00I think just, you know, give him some run.
- 1:23:03I don't think we're going to see Tooten very much at all.
- 1:23:06We know we got with Tooten. Let me see a little bit of
- 1:23:08Thomas. Let me see a whole lot of Coney
- 1:23:10and a whole lot of Mason. Yep, Sheldon, anything to add on
- 1:23:14top of that? Nope.
- 1:23:17I think. I think we're pretty sure.
- 1:23:18I kind of forgot that Malcott Thomas existed, honestly.
- 1:23:21Oops. Yeah, we'll we'll see if we can
- 1:23:25do something. Well, we're going.
- 1:23:28We're going to see. We're going to.
- 1:23:29See, you're going to miss. You're going to miss.
- 1:23:30Bryce, Duke. Brian.
- 1:23:34You know, I I don't think so With Mason coming out.
- 1:23:39I don't think so. With Mason coming in.
- 1:23:42I think Mason can do everything that that he could do and then a
- 1:23:45little bit more. I didn't see that she does.
- 1:23:51She's a dog all right. Tight end room we know is beat
- 1:23:54all to hell. Gallo recovering.
- 1:23:56Gosnell recovering. I mean we saw I saw Saint
- 1:24:02Germain play solid up in up in a rain soak game up in at Navy.
- 1:24:08He's going to get run. When was going to get run.
- 1:24:11I mean from the reports that I've seen and heard they say
- 1:24:15he's looking good so they saying he's ready to take the next
- 1:24:18step. But of course it's all hearsay.
- 1:24:20But we've seen him in the game too.
- 1:24:22You know what I'm saying? We've seen him get some run and
- 1:24:24and and we've seen him do some things.
- 1:24:26So I'd like to I'd like to see what what step he takes.
- 1:24:29But the the thing with the tight end room is like you said, you
- 1:24:33know, and Gallo is, is coming off an injury and Benji, you
- 1:24:39know, has kind of had some injury problems as well.
- 1:24:42So if you got Saint Germain, who comes in behind him, you know, I
- 1:24:46guess that's where The thing is because if those guys aren't,
- 1:24:51you know, their full potential, who do you have behind him?
- 1:24:56That's, that's where you you. I don't want to say worry, but
- 1:25:00that's what you want to see. I guess that's what the spring
- 1:25:02game's for, to see who that other tight end is.
- 1:25:05I want to see a whole lot of Zeke Winbush.
- 1:25:09Yeah, yeah. Heard some good stuff about
- 1:25:11Zeke. I feel like you know, you know
- 1:25:13when we look at taking up some of the type of play calls and
- 1:25:20position that that Daquan Wright was able to slide into, I feel
- 1:25:23like his skill set fits that role best of of the guys that we
- 1:25:27have coming back especially you know when you look at the guys
- 1:25:31that are banged up right now. So it's going to be good.
- 1:25:34It's kind of getting a whole big, big dose of him in the in
- 1:25:38the spring game and so I'm going to look and see what he can do
- 1:25:40and see if he's ready to go to fill in that.
- 1:25:42Role. But I hate that.
- 1:25:44I hate that Daquan, right, left. I hate that.
- 1:25:48I mean, I I really like what he brought.
- 1:25:50And and you know what I'm saying?
- 1:25:51I guess for me kind of got spoiled because you were from
- 1:25:53like, you know, James Mitchell, then Daquan, right.
- 1:25:56So you had a little bit of a playmaker at tight end in those
- 1:26:00guys in those years. But no disrespect to Gallo,
- 1:26:06Gallo does his job, but it's just a different type of tight
- 1:26:08end. So if he's full go, you know
- 1:26:10what I'm saying, He just gives you something a little bit
- 1:26:11different. And I think that if you look at
- 1:26:14like, you know a lot of the NFL teams that are winning, like
- 1:26:17they have a like a hybrid tight end, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:26:21I think that's kind of the wave of the, the new wave of what the
- 1:26:24tight end position evolves to. So I'm interested to see which
- 1:26:29one of these guys, and I mean I've seen a little bit of that
- 1:26:31from Benji, you know, and and and Saint Germain a little bit,
- 1:26:34but more Benji than Saint Germain.
- 1:26:36So I'm interested to see that. Yeah, they both have some of
- 1:26:38that. But I think Wimbush fits more of
- 1:26:41that mold in terms of just being an athlete, kind of a big wide
- 1:26:46receiver that can slide inside and and and block a little bit
- 1:26:49too. All righty.
- 1:26:52We got one last room to hit and I think, I I think we wrote it
- 1:26:57this way because this is the most interesting room from a
- 1:27:01perspective of with the wide receiver room is the big four.
- 1:27:07We we know what they can do. We know what all four of them
- 1:27:10can do. And we go into this season
- 1:27:14looking for, obviously you want five and six, heck, you want 7.
- 1:27:18But this is also a year where who's going to be the guys next
- 1:27:23spring that are taking the passes?
- 1:27:25Sheldon, just looking at the wide receiver room, take out the
- 1:27:28big four, take out Jay Lane, take out Quan Felton, take out
- 1:27:32Ollie Jennings and take out Stephen Gosnell.
- 1:27:34The only one we won't see Saturday is Stephen.
- 1:27:37The other three, I think Dallas Point, I don't think we'll see
- 1:27:39much, but do you have anybody that caught your eye maybe last
- 1:27:43year or from a recruiting perspective that you say I want
- 1:27:46to see him on the field at Lane? Yeah, I mean, I think, I think
- 1:27:49XTV got a lot better as the season progressed.
- 1:27:52I mean, he provides a huge speed element because they're missing.
- 1:27:55I'm sure there's some some little things that, you know,
- 1:27:57maybe kept him off off the field as a gun player, you know, last
- 1:28:00year. But you know, I think he's, he
- 1:28:02could play a very role. And then also Aiden Green if
- 1:28:04there's some good things about him.
- 1:28:05So I'd say those two guys. Yeah, I think you're going to
- 1:28:11see a lot of Aiden Green. I'm really interested to see him
- 1:28:13kind of step into that, you know filling in in that kind of 4th
- 1:28:18spot since Gosnell's out. I feel like he's going to be
- 1:28:20kind of the next man up from that perspective.
- 1:28:23Excited to see XTB get a little bit more run in non gadget plays
- 1:28:31seeing what he can do in in in more traditional route tree type
- 1:28:34things. I think you know obviously the
- 1:28:39young guys that we've talked about Brody and Chance, I want
- 1:28:42to see what they can do. And I think the the biggest
- 1:28:44unknown but I've the name that I've started to hear a little
- 1:28:46bit kind of as spring practice has worked on is you know seeing
- 1:28:50Chance Fitzgerald come around a little bit too.
- 1:28:52Because you know after this year there's going to be a lot of
- 1:28:57youth kind of moving into those roles and I'm interested to see
- 1:29:00how those guys are going to step up.
- 1:29:02I think we have. We've seen Aiden do it in in in
- 1:29:05small sample size so far. You know we've seen you know
- 1:29:09what what chance can do and what what Brody can do in some of
- 1:29:13this practice footage. But you know some of those guys
- 1:29:15are going to be asked to to take on a very big role heading into
- 1:29:182025. So I want to see that kind of
- 1:29:21that transition start with with this spring game and getting
- 1:29:23those guys a lot of reps and getting acclimated and showing
- 1:29:26what they can do. Keelan man, I I got to see
- 1:29:31Keelan. I got to see Keelan.
- 1:29:33Adams just again, man, when you think about the wide receiver
- 1:29:40position at Virginia Tech, you know, he said, no disrespect to
- 1:29:42any of the guys that's played like we don't, we haven't had
- 1:29:47like an explosive wide receiver like we have on our roster right
- 1:29:51now. You know, even besides Keelan.
- 1:29:53But you know what I'm saying, to be, you know, highly ranked,
- 1:29:55like he was coming in, it's going to be a lot of eyes on him
- 1:29:59from other Virginia guys. But also like the fan base
- 1:30:05hadn't seen really what he is because he's a, he's a route
- 1:30:10running technician. Like that's what he does.
- 1:30:12You know, all of the stuff that you do during the spring where
- 1:30:14you're pulling tires and tire pull ups and all that stuff, a
- 1:30:20wide receiver like Keelan Adams is a little bit different, you
- 1:30:22know what I'm saying? So I'd like to see him get some
- 1:30:25work and I mean I've seen him on some, on some, on some
- 1:30:27one-on-one routes and he does what he does.
- 1:30:30So I'm going to be excited for him to see or I'm going to be
- 1:30:33excited for the fan base to see like what he can do.
- 1:30:37You know moving forward And and like Brian said, you know, think
- 1:30:41about like Aiden Green and even Chance Fitzgerald next year when
- 1:30:46that that that top four guys leave.
- 1:30:49You know they're going to be the the veterans and the thing that
- 1:30:53like Aiden Green's going to be a junior next year.
- 1:30:55Seems like he just got on campus, you know what I mean?
- 1:30:58Which he he really did, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:31:00Like he was a freshman, but he'll be a, he'll be a a junior
- 1:31:04next year and and and and leading the charge.
- 1:31:07So you're interested to see, you know what the progression of all
- 1:31:11of those guys is. But if I'm looking at like one
- 1:31:13guy in that wide receiving room, I got to say Keelan.
- 1:31:17I see Keelan. I understand that with
- 1:31:19everything he's done, I think the the piece I want to see is
- 1:31:23when those BIG4 are off the field or the big three Stevens
- 1:31:27going to be banged up. I want to see who's leading
- 1:31:29because I think we keep making this point.
- 1:31:31Those guys are gone next year. Those guys are gone next year.
- 1:31:35I want to see who's on the field is maybe Barking, who's the
- 1:31:39leader of the group, who's going to become the next leader of the
- 1:31:42bad boys with Finetail minds. Because I think that's going to
- 1:31:46be the guy that we see in this game, especially after the first
- 1:31:50quarter. Make the plays, get blocks
- 1:31:53downfield, get on somebody's butt for not doing something.
- 1:31:56And because they're all relatively young and there's not
- 1:32:00like there's a red shirt, you know sophomore who's played it
- 1:32:05or had a good bit of play where he can say this is I'm going to
- 1:32:08take the battle and run with it. Because like you just said with
- 1:32:11Aiden Green. Aiden Green is a sophomore.
- 1:32:14He he's one year ahead of guys like James Williams and guys
- 1:32:17like Brody Adams. So who becomes the leader of
- 1:32:20that group? Because I think right now I
- 1:32:23don't think we can say in the four that's there that they
- 1:32:26there is 1A dog. I think they all have their
- 1:32:30collective roles and I think they all have their different
- 1:32:32personalities and they all leave really well at times.
- 1:32:35So it's going to be interesting to see that.
- 1:32:37All right. Anything else?
- 1:32:39Y'all, we're looking for Saturday on any aspect.
- 1:32:45The alpha dog on this The alpha dog on this podcast is Curtis's
