[upbeat rock music] Good evening, good afternoon, good morning,
• 0:19
listener. Good day. The, uh, a little button thingy to pull the music back is very sticky today. What happened? Who did- It's moist outside. Moist. Moist. It's very moist. Outside, inside.
• 0:33
Yeah, it's just- On the inside and the outside of my pants. [laughs] Yeah, my- Oh, my... [laughs] my, my wonderful van decided today was the day that AC should stop working. Oh, no.
• 0:44
Well, I charged it, like, a week and a half ago thinking, "Oh, yeah, that'll work." Well- Yeah... worked for a week and a half. Yeah. Time to work for four days and then two years.
• 0:52
Time to take it over to RK Motors and see what they can do with it. Good people. I know. That's, uh, our buddy Jeff King's family. I didn't know that. Which is kinda cool. Yeah. I did not know that. Yeah, man. Yeah.
• 1:02
The more you know. And knowing is half the battle. That's what they say. So I kind of- Boom... sort of forgot what happened this last week. [laughs] I don't know. I've been putting stuff in boxes.
• 1:13
I, I remember what happened, 'cause my ribs hurt. Uh-oh. I don't think I was on the rib-hurting s- situation. Let's just say one of the most epic Saturday evenings in River West happened this Saturday.
• 1:24
Oh, that was Jeremy Proch's- S- son's-... son's birthday Oh, yeah, yeah... crazy birthday party. Yeah, I, I w- I s- I totally spaced it for some reason. I'm, I'm just gonna say, jump on fire. Ju- [laughs] Yeah.
• 1:35
And lots of motorcycles, and the occasional electric bicycle jumping through- Ooh, that was a lot of fun... jump on fire. And in the backyard, right? In the side yard there. It was absolutely epic.
• 1:45
Like, mini bike jump action? Yep. There was Rio Turbo. No, I'm sorry. Oh. There was Platinum Boys. There was catered food.
• 1:54
There was at least 10 coolers full of beer, and I think I'm on the low side there by about 20-fold. And that's why Sam rode the Bore- [laughs]... electric fat bike home? 'Cause I k- Yeah...
• 2:05
I, I, I do have a picture of his bike just lying in the middle of the shop floor. I'm like, "What happened here?" [laughs] I drank enough beer for 10 men. [laughs] Which night was that? That was- Saturday night...
• 2:15
Th- that was Saturday, okay. Saturday. 'Cause I think that- He rode, he rode the Bore home with- In the park... with, like, 40% on the battery and six PSI, [laughs] and he's 310-ish pounds. Yeah.
• 2:26
So it died halfway home, no lights. [laughs] Oh, shit. He's just snaked up. Yeah. It was an epic evening. He woke up and sent me an email saying, "Fuck, I'm hungover. That was the greatest evening ever."
• 2:37
[laughs] Yeah, I made it down to the, uh, punk rod, punk rock rummage sale- Oh, I forgot about that... down at, uh- There's just so much going on-... Beer Backyard...
• 2:46
during the summer months that it's very hard to h- keep your eye on the prize. Mm-hmm. Took a little finagling to- Oh... get him to get down the pipe. Hey, we got a... Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, everybody- Hey...
• 2:58
we got a caller. Hmm. Hey, welcome to Radio Burger, caller. Who do we have on the line? Dave fucking Lund. DFL. DFL. Oh. Yeah. DFL is in the house. Dave fucking Lund. What's up, Dave?
• 3:12
Yeah, well, you know, as I said it real quick, so, you know, it didn't sound like a swear. [laughs] Oh.
• 3:16
Yeah, well, don't worry, Tony's already dropped the F-bomb a couple times today, so- Fuck that, I've done it more than once or twice or- This is a k- this is a, this is a children's not very friendly show, but they probably don't listen to it anyway.
• 3:28
Awesome. Listen to their old man grandfather dads talking on the- Radio... radio box thing. Kids even listen to podcasts? So- All right... wait a second.
• 3:38
We- Yeah, I wanna call and tell you it's gonna rain We, we- [laughs] What's that? We, we haven't even told everybody who's here yet today besides Dave Lund, so let's, uh, let's do the rounds. Let's do the rounds.
• 3:47
We got, uh, JK to my right, as always. Hello. Tony Burger directly across from me. Yep. And splitting the uprights late- [laughs]... at 7:05 PM is, uh, Andrew Zahn. Hey, Andrew. [laughs] Hey. How you guys doing?
• 4:00
Uh, s- just s- yeah, we're doing well. We're just getting rolling here. Kinda wondering what Dave's got on his mind. [laughs] It's rude. Oh, nothing. I was, uh, hanging out in the backyard, drinking beer. Um,
• 4:13
so- Get a job... thought I'd give you a shout, see what's up. Well- Uh, yeah, kind of, but I'm off for a couple days again. [laughs] Right on. You're off next Thursday and Friday too, right? Uh, yeah.
• 4:24
'Cause we're- Hopefully. Well, I gotta tell them I can't work... we're floating the big boat over to Michigan.
• 4:30
It kinda g- Yeah, I just, uh, booked my, I just booked my ticket today, so- Hopefully you're on the same boat we are. [laughs] 12:30 Thursday. Yep, that's the one. 4:45 Friday.
• 4:43
Anybody who wants to join us on the Lake Express Ferry- Yeah... that thing goes really fast. And, boy howdy, I don't care how warm it is anywhere else, it's cold out there. [laughs] The vomit comet.
• 4:52
Yes, mind your, uh- Except for Belcher. Who the hell invited him? [laughs] Mind your intake the night before. [laughs] That, that's like the, that's like the ranking- Have a hangover...
• 5:02
of who gets invited, so we, we [laughs] I thought we only invited him so we could harass him. No, we invited him so you can harass him. [laughs] But, I dunno, sounds like fun. Awesome. It's more people- Maybe-...
• 5:13
which is better. Yeah. Right. Obviously, yeah. [laughs] I just gotta give him some shit, you know, 'cause that's what we do. Right. That's what you do. Well, that's what you do. Yeah. You do.
• 5:25
That's what you- Right, yeah... that's what you said... that's the thing. The power of- [laughs] Right on. So have you been, have you been out to Minooka- Well-... at all much, or what's going on out there?
• 5:32
I haven't heard a report from that way. No, I haven't. Um, I haven't been off-road in a while, actually. Don't be such a wussy. Been doing, uh, more cough road stuff. [coughs] Um, but yeah.
• 5:45
Did you, did you say cough road? [laughs] Cough road. Yeah, smo- Yeah, yeah, cough road, not off-road... smoke a big doobie and, uh, [coughs] [laughs] Yeah.
• 5:56
Yeah, do sweet leaf with just the cough- For some reason, uh-... throughout the whole thing... we, we did the, uh, Ride for the Arts, what, a couple weeks ago in Port Washington-
• 6:04
Get him, get him set up over there, Tony... closer to your mouth. There you go. Well, actually, now we got Tony talking too. Yeah, yeah. [laughs] All right.
• 6:11
That's what happens when you come in at five after 7:00 and you don't get pre-rolled on this thing, man. [laughs] Jesus Christ. Hey, all right then.
• 6:18
Uh, well, um, I'm gonna, uh, put you back in the hole for a sec, and then we're gonna come back to you in a little bit, all right? Got- What are you gonna do?
• 6:26
We got, we got another caller I'll get back to my weed pulling. All right then. Okay. You can listen though. All right. You said weed pulling. That's code. [laughs] On two fronts. I don't know. [laughs] Could be legit.
• 6:41
Oh, boy. Just weed. This, this is fun stuff already, folks. Hey, welcome to the radio program. Caller, who do we have on the line? Wanna control that stuff there? That beep was really loud. Was it?
• 6:55
[laughs] I don't do that. I just make sure that you- No, it was... you know you're coming on. I- Maybe it's a hearing test for you 'cause you're so old. Now you're- Is it... God. Amateurs at this thing over here.
• 7:06
That's not why I called in. [laughs] Amateur, yeah, I'm working... I, I haven't done this, I haven't done this for a while.
• 7:10
Everybody I wanna interview leaves me when I wanna interview them, so it's like, that's not working real well. I, I, I, uh, put Dave back in the queue so you guys can't just banter back and forth between yourselves.
• 7:20
Oh, Dave and I would do that? Never. No, never. I think it would just, with, with the, uh, with the delay of all this technology, it would just get kinda silly. [laughs] Oh, we doing it...
• 7:32
Yeah, it would be [laughs] it would be fun though. Someday. Well, well I'm not saying he can't come back. I'm just saying we w- got, we gotta hear what you say first, and then we can, you know, invite him back.
• 7:43
Can we send him, just send him questions and just have him just answer all the questions at one time, and then cut him back off again? Hey, that's how you interview people, right? You ask questions.
• 7:49
I don't even know how I forgot that, but- Oh, yeah... pretty sure that's how [laughs] that works. How did you learn how to interview, Chewy? Uh, you know, I don't know. Ask some questions, I guess.
• 7:56
Me listening to you guys, and then doing it right. [laughs] Yeah, right. [laughs] We're, we're the, uh, we're the lesson on how not to do it. That's, that's kinda the whole thing about this show- Yeah. Yeah...
• 8:06
is it, we, we hold this up as an example of how definitely not to do your 280th podcast [laughs] or whatever we're on. We didn't announce which show we were at. But at least we make that- Oh, yeah. Show 121-...
• 8:18
sort of... for this particular show, but, uh. Yeah, but you guys are way over that. Yeah, whatever. Right on. So, uh- So what's up, Chewy? Yeah, tell us So, let's see. Um, you talked to Spinner last time.
• 8:30
Um, in the meantime, we looked at flights to Single Speed USA, and car rental, and just logistics, and what a mess. [laughs] Um, I think we're driving out there. Oh, my God.
• 8:45
Well, I mean, aren't rental cars like 1,200 bucks a week still? Right. Yeah- Oh... well, for five days it was 1,300. Yeah. Oh. It's ridonkulous, 'cause they sold all the cars because- Yeah...
• 8:55
they weren't renting them to anybody. [laughs] And, and then we were gonna fly American. I think we're flying American out of Rochester. American.
• 9:02
So that was 100 bucks each way for your bike, and then we're, we have to take camping stuff, so it'd be another 50 bucks for a camping bag- Spin it... and- Throw it in the car... you know, shit.
• 9:10
It was, uh, it was adding up quickly. And I forgot, since it's been so long ago I signed up for that, I'm racing in the clunker class. Oh, are you gonna use the state bicycle, uh, Grateful Dead version?
• 9:23
Not the Grateful Dead, the, uh, free, Free & Easy. Free & Easy. All right. I, I haven't gotten mine yet. I'm, I'm, I'm anxiously awaiting my batch of clunkers. Yeah, those are supposed to be here soon.
• 9:32
Call, call Pat up- I would, I would-... and say, "Where the hell are my bikes?" That's what I would ask... rocking back and forth by the front door.
• 9:36
Well, I kind of, I kinda thought about doing that, because I was actually thinking about doing was ordering one
• 9:41
with the fingers crossed that they'd come in the same time, and I would just send them, send it to the race and put it together and race it and leave it. [laughs] Yeah. That's silly money ahead. Yeah, probably.
• 9:54
But now you're gonna drive. 'Cause it would... You know, those... But now we're driving, so I don't know. We haven't dec- That's, that's as far as we've gotten. We're driving, and JP's going with us. Oh, boy. Oh, boy.
• 10:06
[laughs] Is this his first one? I, I would assume so, unless he did, unless he did the one at Levis. I don't remember him being there. Well, that should be fun for JP. Wow. Oh, yeah.
• 10:19
A drive out with Spinner and I, that's gonna be fun for anybody. Did he ever get an apocalypse vehicle?
• 10:24
He came to Milwaukee once, and we hung out for a little bit while he was here looking at some kind of post-apocalyptic truck situation. Yeah, he's got a great big, uh, Ford, um, Expedition. Is it a d- He's like 75...
• 10:38
is it a diesel? I hope it's the diesel. No, it's not. We, we- It's a gas. It's the V10 gas? Oh, what a fool. Now you're- Yeah, he likes... see, last-... Fords...
• 10:47
okay, last week you said Spinner lies, and now you're calling him a fool. I think he's gonna kick your ass when he comes- And he-... to Steel Is Real. He would do that anyway.
• 10:53
[laughs] Well, the thing is, is now we can just take our time. He can work remotely, so we can just take our time coming back from, uh- Nice... Maine, and then, and just sort of roll in there and spend a few days.
• 11:06
Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. If you got here early, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I think it's looking like even if we don't still have the shop, I got places for you to crash.
• 11:15
Um, I just put a bed in the old warehouse and stuff, so. When are they coming? So we'll camp itself. Steel, Steel Is Real. When is that? But what we got. Isn't that on the calendar here? Probably. It's August 28th.
• 11:24
Steel Is Real Milwaukee. Yeah. I might even have a room by then. You, you saw my calendar today, yeah? Yes, I did, and your liver was suffering for seeing it. [laughs] True, it is.
• 11:36
But, but you did, but you did notice what was, what was written on there, and I did not do that. That's how my wife wrote it down. Steel Is Real. Is it still?
• 11:44
'Cause every, whenever I bring it up, she immediately says, "Steeler's Wheel." Oh, Steeler's Wheel, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I, I could see that. Yeah. And he's from here, you know, isn't he?
• 11:54
Isn't that a- No, I didn't know that... isn't that a Steve Miller thing, or is- Yeah... Steeler's Wheel a band? Or I don't know, some thing. Yeah, a band. Or he was in Steelers? I don't know. Uh. There's something there.
• 12:03
There's gotta be some connection. There's always a Milwaukee- I feel like there's a Mitch Ryder connection... there's always a Milwaukee connection somehow That's what I'm saying...
• 12:08
all roads will lead back to Fade Into You by Mazzy Star. I swear, when we start to talk about music, it will end with- It, it will... Mazzy Star It does. You're right. Yeah, every one does. Oh, man.
• 12:19
Hey, we got a plethora of- What else is going on? Well, we got a plethora of callers today. We, we had Lunz, now we got you, then we got Big Sexy waiting in the, in the queue- In the queue... to say, say what's up.
• 12:27
And, you know we're, we're going over there to meet- Cool... him on the, on the ferry next week, so. I, I know, and I apologize. I just have way too much stuff going on.
• 12:36
It's also NordicMess that weekend, and I'm just not... I've already kind of committed to help out with a few things down in Decorah, so I, I kinda messed that up.
• 12:44
So I, I would, I would really like to come over and go with you guys to go see him and ride back with him, but it just- Wow... it seems like the end of July is an incredibly busy time of the year around here. Yeah.
• 12:54
I haven't been to a NordicMess in, I don't know, 20 years, but that's usually a good time over there. It's fun, yeah.
• 13:00
Um, last year was actually the first year Sue had ever been down there, and then since we bought our house down there, I think it was the first time we were in around for it.
• 13:08
So, um, um, we went down there and hung out for a couple days. She had fun. She enjoyed herself. Everybody has now pulled out their connives for some reason. [laughs] What's Tony doing over there?
• 13:19
Oh, he's tearing off some plastic crap from his... Hang on a second. Oh, my goodness. It's a, it's a little early for the top of the hill, but we'll just, we'll get there now so we can, uh- What has-...
• 13:28
get through the m- I-... the murdering of the can. Well, no, I didn't murder the can. I mur- murdered the plastic label that- Yeah, but look... says this is Punkass Cat. But look what the can is.
• 13:38
So they must have had- It's-... some Mango Unchained cans- Yeah... left over and they, and they- Just reused them and put stickers over the top... they rebranded them. So- Is that the same, uh, brewery?
• 13:45
Yeah, it's from, uh, it's from up in Dorco. Well, Baffin. Baffin? No, that's a- No... different- Wow... brew. Wow.
• 13:51
No, I've seen, I've seen this a couple times, uh, where, like, a, a brewery will order too much of, like, the branded, you know, screen-printed cans, realize that that's not selling or whatever- And they fucked up...
• 14:01
and then, you know, so then another brewery will grab it, and then these, uh, shrink wrap labels are so awesome. Isn't that, like, the, the s- the semi that comes through your neighborhood and, and- Yeah...
• 14:12
and cans- It's the... Yeah, hey... all of your- Yep... you know, your slightly better than home brew beer? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right on. Or way better, depending on who's doing it. Yeah, true that.
• 14:22
And then you get a bottling line, like, or a canning line, like over to the Husky here. Yep. Well, that's awesome. Oh, sorry. Anyway- All right, Ron. Hey, we're gonna, um... You wanna return to the queue for a sec?
• 14:34
We'll talk to Big Sexy and- But he hasn't told us what he's got for top of the hill. Oh, you- Yeah, top of the hill... Yeah, what, what do you have for top of the hill before we talk to Big Sexy?
• 14:42
Oh, what, what am I drinking? Right. That's usually how it goes. We are... I'm drinking, um, our buddies from, uh, Odd Man Rush sent a beer back down from Eagle River, Alaska, and I'm drinking a, uh- Eagle...
• 14:54
Pararescue 212. It's a vanilla porter, and as with everything we get from those guys, it kicks ass. Ooh. Um, nice and smooth with the vanilla in it. Um, 6.2. Sounds like ass. I don't think he sent any...
• 15:04
This is probably the, the weakest beer he sent down this time. Um- Eagle River, Alaska... it's kinda, it's, the, we're gonna- Eagle River. Yeah. We're gonna have to, we're gonna have to, like- That's a tongue twister...
• 15:13
figure out how to tie into podcasts sometime and talk to those clowns up there.
• 15:17
They, they have a podcast that mostly deals with, with hockey, but, um, their hockey stories are not that different than some of our single-speed [laughs] MFA stories. Yeah.
• 15:27
So it would be- Hockey and beer go together like-... that would be kinda kickass... single speeds and beer, right? Yep.
• 15:32
And they've got, they've got really weird, uh, liquor license laws in Alaska, and I, I gotta get, I gotta talk to Reid and find out what's going on because it's something about
• 15:41
he can only sell beer and only at certain times through his tap room, and he needs to do something different. I think, I don't think you can drink on premise. It's really weird.
• 15:50
So, um, I'll find out more about it later, but in the meantime, his beer kicks ass. Yeah, I don't know. We're drinking s- this, uh, Punkass Cat, which has a kind of a- Or are we?... cool label on it. Or are we?
• 16:00
[laughs] It, it, it's got some sort of... Is that mango I'm tasting? I don't know. It's delicious. It's got a shit of mango. I'll tell you right now- It's some kind of fruity business... it's fucking delicious.
• 16:08
It's got, supposed to have El Dorado hops in it, but I don't remember them being this, uh- Tony, look, I can go fishing... this sweet. But hey, it's from Dorco. Anything from Dorco is all right with me.
• 16:17
[laughs] Struck in all these fibs. [laughs] All right, Ron, you wanna hang out in the queue and listen to the show? Hey- Maybe, maybe we'll catch up with you at the end- Yeah... or you got something to do? Nope.
• 16:27
I'm just, I'm just doing hockey stuff, so I'll listen. Throw me on, throw me in the queue. All right. Talk to you soon. All right. All right, thanks, guys. Bye, Ron. Pushing buttons.
• 16:36
I'm pushing buttons all over this thing. Pushing buttons. Hey, th- it's working this week 'cause- Wiki, wiki, wiki, wiki... 'cause last week when we talked to Spinner it wasn't working, so. So who we have now? Hey.
• 16:44
Hey, hey. Hey, welcome to the program, caller. Who do we have on the line? I am drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon on the streets of Marshall, Michigan.
• 16:55
Where in the, where in the wide world of the east of here is, is Marshall, Michigan? Don't get arrested. Well, Marshall- Yeah... Michigan is just to the east of Battle Creek.
• 17:06
Oh, you're all- And Battle Creek is where my aunt- Right on... Battle Creek is where my aunt is.
• 17:11
And then I'm gonna go, uh, uh, I'm, I'm telling you, I'm gonna go straight to the lake and then up the lake because there's a lot of bike- Yep... a lot of bike paths.
• 17:24
So, hey, y'all wanna find me, e- um, Dave said Grand Haven. Right, yep. Dude, this is, this is all happening right now. Yeah, Grand Haven's gonna be a good spot. We're gonna take the ferry.
• 17:37
We're g- we're gonna ride our fat bikes- Yeah... down the beach to meet you, and then we'll take some a little bit more scenic roads or paths back to, uh, Muskegon. Yeah. Good. Jump on the boat, this and that.
• 17:46
Did, did, did, did one of you- Oh, you guys are doing the full loop... did one of you- Nice... did one of you really pay $120 for me to get across the lake? Yep.
• 17:55
Yeah, because of the way it all worked out, I just, I bit the bullet and it, it just became kind of a, like it was easier just to do that, so. [laughs] Well, all right. So it w- it was you?
• 18:07
I don't, I, because I don't have a face, I don't have a face to go-... across that lake. When we get there on Wednesday, I'm gonna get you drunk. [laughs] Well, that'll- That won't be hard...
• 18:25
yeah, that'll be a rarity. Wait, hold up. Like, what- That, that usually never happens... what, like- Right... gentle spooning? What? Yeah, yeah. I don't know what's happening. [laughs] What's happening?
• 18:32
Well, what I'm, what I'm, what I'm saying is that if, if you, if you had to pay $120 to get me across that lake, I, I, I mean, I coulda, I coulda done that too, but if you did it, yeah, oh, boy, you're mine now.
• 18:47
[laughs] Actually, to be fair, Everyday Cycles did at the shop, so- Yeah... it's like- That's good tax write-off... I haven't made any money out of this place this whole year, so I might as well spend it on other people.
• 18:56
[laughs] Right. Okay, so mo- more importantly, what, I mean, like, we're, we're meeting in Grand Haven or some of that? I, I, I, I got it. Thursday the 23rd, Grand Haven, Michigan. Mm-hmm. Not Sweet Haven.
• 19:10
  That's from- Yeah... the pop- I mean, I mean, like, look, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm there. I'm there. It, it's, it, it's just a matter of, uh,
• 19:21
making it take too long to get there and blah, blah, you know, and then we, we, we hook up, we, we do our thing, blah, blah. I am not driving this boat, y'all.
• 19:33
[blows raspberry] [laughs] Heather's gonna- You, you, you can-... Heather's gonna like it... y'all to, y'all have to tell me where to go, okay? It'll be- You're gonna have a blast... it'll be good.
• 19:43
There's a, there's a great bar within about a mile, I think, of the boat, right? [clears throat] Oh, the one on the lower shelf? The one where we have the TouchTunes, where we can play annoying music for the patrons.
• 19:54
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. That Mariner's Bar or something- Something like that... to that effect. That's within a mile of the ferry, so that's a good place to post up- Oh, yeah, it's like-...
• 20:00
if we get there a little early... yeah, half mile if that. Yeah.
• 20:03
I, I will tell, I'll tell, I'll tell you one thing, Heather's got some attitude lately, but it has nothing to do with anything physically wrong with the bike, but she's got some attitude, and I'm like, "Oh, yeah, by the way, these strange dudes are gonna be riding you."
• 20:21
[laughs] And I'm gonna be riding one of their bikes. Strange dudes are gonna be riding Heather. I, I...
• 20:27
Li- literally, I want one of you to ride Heather, and I'll ride one of your bikes, and you, you can, you can see what I do. Greg. [laughs] Tony said he was gonna do it, and now he's not even gonna go on the trip.
• 20:39
Can't make it. My wife's- Ah... 50th birthday. Well, Da- Dave will, Dave will do it. Dave will- Dave, Dave will, Dave will ride-... Dave will do anything Dave will do anything. Dave will ride Heather.
• 20:48
Dave will do anything. Dave- Dave would ride Heather-... Dave actually rides Heather right now... if Heather was a dude. [laughs] Dave will ride Heather and give me a blowjob at the same time.
• 20:57
[blows raspberry] There you go. I hope you record that. [laughs] All right, man. Well, we're looking forward to catching up with you.
• 21:03
We got a couple other callers we're gonna get through here, and, uh, we'll see you next- No, yeah... week Thursday. We're good. I'm on- Wait, what?... I'm on schedule.
• 21:12
Um, uh, next, next week's gonna be way more important than this one. Yeah, buddy. I think we're gonna, we're gonna skip probably next week's show just 'cause of this, uh, this trip, and
• 21:24
then the 24 is coming, so we'll do a show during the, that River West 24 instead. So- Yeah... if anybody's looking- That, that one-...
• 21:31
for this show next Friday with number 122, probably you'll have to wait a day or two, but that's the way it's gonna be, 'cause next weekend is gonna be- Yeah... off the hizook, as Tony likes to say. Yeah.
• 21:41
Just wait for it, man. It's coming. All right, buddy, we'll see you next week, and we'll talk before then. We'll make sure we're, we're synced up and- Oh... hooked up and- Yeah, no, no... everything's good to go.
• 21:49
Um, um, we, we, we, we do have our communications otherwise. Um, but yeah, uh, it's, it's all good. I'm on, I'm, I'm actually a few days ahead of schedule right now, so. Cool. Very good, man.
• 22:02
All right, look forward to seeing you soon. No, yeah, yeah. And also you- Yeah... getting me hammered. Thank you very much. [laughs] [laughs] All right, peace out. I can't, I can't, I can't wait.
• 22:13
I can't wait to, to, to meet up with you guys and just, like, let you take me into whatever the fuck you're gonna take me into. Uh-huh. I, I'm, I'm super excited. All right. Awesome. We'll see you soon. All right, man.
• 22:26
You all take it easy. Big Sexy, everybody. Big Sexy. Finally gonna meet him in person. Hey, speaking of people that have met him in person. Dave Lund. Mr. Dave Lunds. Hey, Dave. Dave- I, I-... is it raining outside?
• 22:38
I just, I just- Have you gone outside, and is it raining outside? I just, I cannot put- I hope I keep my dick... I cannot put, like, four people on the phone at the same time.
• 22:45
It just never works, so- It gives me anxiety- But you've a-... just thinking about it... but you've at le- you, you've at least met Big Sexy in the past, so what are we in for? Hello? Hello? [laughs] Hello? Uh, wait.
• 22:58
You there? Hello? Seno wences. Hello. Yeah. Hello. [laughs] Um, just to clarify, I will not be giving him a blowjob. [laughs] I was taking notes and- I was thinking it was-...
• 23:10
little things I gotta keep- I was thinking it wasn't him, it was Heather, but Heather's a girl, trice- whatever. Well, he may have made modifications. Yeah, modifications to the trike.
• 23:19
[laughs] I, I, I'll lick Heather, but I- 2020 was very long. Yeah. [laughs] I, so I'll, I'll defile Heather, but I'm not gonna touch him. [laughs] All right, dude. So, um, you, you know the plan.
• 23:32
You've been communicating with him as well, right? Yeah. Sweet. Um, I don't know. I, I, I was gonna look up, uh, Grand Haven State Park. I think we can camp there.
• 23:42
I think we can just camp right on the freaking beach, too. I think if anybody's a pro at camping anywhere they can when they're riding a tricycle across the country- It's, it's Big Sexy...
• 23:48
we could probably take a cue from Big Sexy. [laughs] Right. [laughs] We could, we could find a gazebo to crash in or something.
• 23:55
Yeah, or a dugout, a dugout at a baseball diamond in a high school, or a post office lobbies, I guess- There you go... are actually pretty good. I've heard, I've heard that, too. And if you don't blaspheme- Yeah...
• 24:04
you can probably go into a church. Hmm. I'd burst into- Yeah... fucking flames. But, uh, Grand Haven State Park's right on the water there, and Grand Haven's a great town, of course. You've been there. Oh, yeah.
• 24:13
Oh, Sweet Haven. I'll have to go to, we'll have to take him to the Tip A Few and tip a few. Oh. Uh, he just, yeah, he just offered to get me hammered, so there you go.
• 24:21
Thinkin' you're gonna be drinkin' a lot of Yeungling, aren't you? I'm pretty sure there's, uh, the, the Grand Haven State Park is right on a lake and I'm pretty sure, I was gonna look it up today, but I got high.
• 24:28
And, um- [laughs] A very Afro man over here. But I'm pretty sure they have a group camping. [laughs] He was pulling weeds. I got high. [laughs] And then I got high. And then I got high.
• 24:37
And then I, um, and then I went bye-bye. [laughs] Yeah. All right, well, we gotta wrap this- Yeah. So, I, I'm pretty sure they got like a group camping, like they have in, uh, whatchamacallit... silly-ass show up here.
• 24:44
Right on. We gotta wrap this show up, so, uh- All right... catch up with you if not before next Thursday- All right. I just wanna finish with- Next Thursday...
• 24:51
I, I just wanna f- uh, I just wanna finish with, if Chewy's still listening, I got these green rims in my hand and I got an evil plan in my head for him with them, so give him something to think about.
• 25:02
I'm sure he's still listening. Oh, I'm sure he's thinking. All right, Dave, we'll see you next week- Yeah [laughs]... if not before. Oh, by the way- What's going on, Dave?... I got an idea. I got an idea- What?...
• 25:10
where we can see you before. Uh, we need to do another Steel Is Real planning ride, so Saturday looks like a beautiful day to do a Steel Is Real planning ride. Ooh, yeah.
• 25:18
I, I was, uh, we're, we're talking maybe a Zion beach ride on Sunday, too. Yeah, that would work. I need to get my sea legs back on the sand. Fuck all y'all. Hey, quit working on your house. Come out and play bicycles.
• 25:28
All right, Dave, see you soon. [laughs] All right. Yeah, let me know about Saturday and Sunday. We'll talk. Copy that. All right. I'm gonna let you know. Here's my finger. [laughs] Oh, boy, more Barton pushing. Hey, Ron.
• 25:42
Ron's still here. Hi, Ron. This was, uh, this was Dave pulling weeds. [laughs] I'm still here. Uh, [clears throat] See- Ron... see, I could, I, it just, I couldn't, I- And the dogs are here.
• 25:51
We probably should've just put all three of them on at once- And, and also Dave wants me to steal some rims, too... and just see what happens, shouldn't we? [laughs] I mean, internet lag is a thing though, right?
• 25:58
Andrew's, Andrew's like the... Tony's a nerd. Andrew's nerdlinger times what? Three or four? 20. 20? Mm-hmm. [laughs] So- It depends on how many I've had.
• 26:06
[laughs] If he can, if he can, if he can get rid of our latency issues, our show is gonna be a lot better. Yeah, so, um- I thought, I thought you figured that out. Well, I fingered it out. Jesus, God.
• 26:19
[laughs] Look at how far this show has gone. It's degraded. So you, uh, what, what, what's the green rim plan, I wonder? I just, I don't even know if we can get in... We'll get into that in a couple weeks.
• 26:30
I don't, I'm not either, but I know where, I know where I can shove them. Oh, those are- Ooh... those little 20-inch ones, right? Oh, the ones, oh, the ones that I gave him. That's right.
• 26:38
The ones that Yeah, they were from like a 20-inch-... [laughs]... like Mongoose or something.
• 26:43
Um, yeah, the, yeah, Mongoose had a 20-inch little fluorescent orange with a green rim bike that were all destroyed, but the wheels are actually pretty solid.
• 26:51
I'm surprised he remembered that after how debauchery-ed he got in Decorah, so. [laughs] It was, it was a little rough. Hey- He's been that way though lately...
• 27:00
you, you know, that, that kind of thing, s- that's just, like, normal Milwaukee though, so if that happens to you here, nobody's even gonna notice. [laughs] Right. Right. We have a reputation to uphold. Yeah, right.
• 27:10
Right. Right. I've had enough, I've had enough trips to Milwaukee to know what it's like there. [laughs] I've had enough trips to Decorah not to be a Dave, I guess, is my motto.
• 27:18
You know, I, I've lived in Milwaukee a long time, and I've never woken up with Dave next to me in bed. Oh, I've... He's woken up on your couch though. Oh. Oh, he's woken up hugging a princess pillow. I've got pictures.
• 27:28
And that pillow didn't really do well- Yeah... after that, did it? It still exists. [laughs] And he pulls the sleeps on it every night. All right, Chewy.
• 27:37
Well, I don't think we're gonna see you before Steel Is Real, but if we do, that's gonna be a good time I'm sure.
• 27:43
It's, there's, there is a, there's always a possibility of me making, having to make a popcorn run prior to Steel Is R- Is Real, um- Riverwest 24, 23rd Yep. Yep.
• 27:53
I'm not saying I can't make it over to Decorah either before then- I know... because I'm in a traveling mood right now, so. [metal clangs] Clang. Well, there's always, there's always...
• 28:03
Let's see, this weekend coming up is the county fair, which we gotta go down and people watch, and then next week, the weekend after that is Nordic Fest, but you guys are busy then, so it's, um, yeah, it's up in the air.
• 28:13
Yeah. Yep. Are you not gonna get the Riverwest 24 tattoo this year, dude? It's your fault. I know it. I know it. Every now and then I look at that and I go, "I gotta get over there for that again one of these days."
• 28:22
Oh, yeah. But I, I, you know- I remember you being here for those events. Those were good... my, uh, my retirement life is gonna be incredibly busy I think. That's a good thing. That's what people should do- You know?
• 28:32
... when they retire, get busier. Right. And fuck you for being able to retire. Yeah. Yeah, right. All right, buddy. Okay. Well, thanks for calling in and, and- Okay... uh, we'll talk to you, I don't think a week or two.
• 28:42
Yep, talk to you guys in a week or so. All right. See you, guys. Later to you. Holy mackerel, just a plethora- And, and he didn't say a freaking word basically... Oh, he said, he said something.
• 28:51
He said, he had a couple zingers. [laughs] That's, uh, that's a star- That's a full show... that's a star-studded show there. We talked virtually nothing. That's awesome. S- [laughs] it's not Seinfeld, thank God. Yeah.
• 29:02
So Andrew, since, uh, he's here, we might as well ask him a few questions about his, his bike experiences. Sure. Tell us about your cycling life. Um, sadly it's mostly, like, Riverwest 24 and Riverwest 24 planning.
• 29:15
Uh, I, I've got a, uh, Cannondale, uh, one of the last made, uh, uh, here in the US. Uh, w- what model is that again, Tony? It's an SR400, I believe. Yeah.
• 29:29
It's the, it's the one that Tony was riding with the seat way up in his butt- Oh... when Andrew was trying out Tony's- It, it, Andrew was slightly larger than me... it's inside Tony. Like- [laughs]...
• 29:38
I don't know if I own that bike anymore or if that bike just owns Tony. [laughs] Yeah, it, it, I was violated. It did some things. Yeah.
• 29:45
It's just Andrew's a tall man, I'm a short man, and he wanted to ride an electric bike, so. So what did, what was, that was your first experience on an e-bike or no? Uh, second.
• 29:54
First was, uh, at the Chicago International Motorcycle Show. Before they let you get on the Zeros, they make you ride a, like a Panasonic just to prove that you're not gonna, you know- Die... be a total idiot. Oh, okay.
• 30:06
Yeah. Um, and it's, it's wild, right? Like, it, it, it, it's a lot of fun and, uh, especially, like, just, like, the, the pedal assist stuff is, like, you can just put anybody on it, right? Yeah.
• 30:17
Like, if they know how to ride a bike, they, they don't need to understand throttling or- Right... shifting or anything. It just, it just works. And I, I think that it, it-...
• 30:26
can democratize, uh, cycling even more, right? There are people that are just, you know, intimidated by riding hills. I mean, Milwaukee isn't that hilly, but- Not that...
• 30:37
we still have some kind of brutal hills to- Yeah... to someone who doesn't ride, right? Right. Sure. No, I get it.
• 30:41
And I, I avoid them or as somebody who is a little more, I don't wanna say advanced, 'cause that sounds kind of cocky, but it's like- Experience... I, I just like the throttle for things where I don't want to
• 30:55
at that particular time work. I may attack the hill on a given day, but what if I'm don't want to? Sure. That thing's kind of nice. You gotta try that bore fat bike over there.
• 31:03
That's got the pedal assist and, and that is, it's seamless. It's really nice. Yeah. It is pretty sweet. I'm, I'm looking forward to that.
• 31:08
And, you know, I mean, even i- that is seamless enough, but, uh, like a, a good Bosch system, I mean, they're just, like, no-brainers. Yeah. Yeah. Also, on the motorcycle side of stuff, the new LiveWire One. Yeah, yeah.
• 31:22
Substantially less money than the original, and- I'm stoked. What's substantially less? Like 10 grand less, and that's- Yeah. So it's 20 instead of 30 or- 2199 I think. Yeah. And, and that's b- All right.
• 31:31
That's, that's getting there... and that's before whatever southern, uh, tax credit you might get on it. That- Yeah. It's, it's getting there... well, I don't think you get tax credits, uh, for e-bikes.
• 31:38
Well, you- I think that's only for, uh, cars... you're going to. Yeah. Well, we'll, we'll see. [laughs] All right. They're talking about a $3,500 one on, on e-bicycles. Cool. That would make a lot of sense.
• 31:49
We're, we're at the tipping point- Yeah... where- Yeah, we are... the technology and the cost are at a level where it makes sense for a lot more people. Yeah. And it, you, you, you don't have to be a tinkerer.
• 32:01
You don't have to be a, a DIY guy, and you don't have to spend five grand on a bike, you know? Yeah. It's like it's time for a lot of people. I'm not saying everyone, Chewy,
• 32:13
that, uh, uh, rides an e-bike, but, um, it's- He's already checked out... yeah, and I, I- We start talking e-bikes, he's gone...
• 32:18
I, I think that, like- He's gonna listen to the show, though, just to see how good he sounded. [laughs] I, I, I think- To see if he said anything s- stupid He's got a face for radio, that's for sure. Oh, yeah, he does.
• 32:29
All right. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So what do you do for the 24 planning? Um, practice laps, drinking. Oh, yeah. Practice laps and drinking. Tony was a practice lap king- Yeah... for a long time there.
• 32:39
I was doing a couple before we landed on Wednesday nights. Right. 'Cause remember it being Wednesdays at, uh, was it- 7:00 PM, baby... 7:00 PM. Yep. Same time we do this.
• 32:47
So this is, this is coming up next weekend already. It is. I know. That j- It, it, it's- So the- Somebody hit, somebody hit the gas quick... hurtling at us, uh, so quickly. [laughs] Right.
• 32:56
Uh, I mean- So the 23rd and 24th, so Friday, Saturday. Mm-hmm. Overnight, 7:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A little different than normal. And I know it's- Oh, wow... it's earlier, uh, because I saw that, uh- Where is it?...
• 33:07
like I, I know that, uh, people have been getting volunteer shifts at, like, 2:00 to 4:00 on Friday- I'm-... in the afternoon... hoping that's something else. 'Cause I still think it's 7:00 to 7:00.
• 33:17
I, I, I have- It could be either way... I have, like, as, as, as someone who- It certainly sounds the stuff... like, has been, like, loosely plugged into the organization, uh, o- of that, um, [smacks lips]
• 33:27
it, it's [clicks tongue] they're having a lot of fun doing it. Hmm. Um, but it, it, it's, uh, they're, they're keeping a lot of things quiet, right? Well, my, uh- Sure. They wanna, they wanna be able to surprise...
• 33:34
my mother-in-law called the house and asked my wife, she's like, [smacks lips] "You guys don't have a bonus checkpoint at your house this year, do you?" And Molly's like, "No. Tony's the bonus checkpoint himself." Oh.
• 33:46
[laughs] Tony's a bonus checkpoint. So I have, I have- Is it, Tony, Tony's doing a pushup challenge with people... I have a small amount of info that I can probably share, I think. Um, that's, that's kinda...
• 33:57
Since we all know there's gonna be roughly 100 bonus checkpoints, there will be four an hour. Ah. So they'll- That's-... they'll overlap each other, so each- Sure...
• 34:07
will be two hours, but there will be at least four at any given time for 24 hours. I think it's a good idea because they're not doing the traditional- It's pretty fascinating... manifest.
• 34:17
They're not doing the traditional mass start. Right. They're not doing any lap counting. Right. Right. So th- this kind of brings it- This is kind of a neat idea...
• 34:23
well, it kind of brings it back to what it originally started as, which was a neighborhood gathering event. Right. Not, not a race. And I- This was never a race...
• 34:29
I have actually heard rumors there may be a tattoo this year. Oh, no. A tattoo? They've promised that. A tattoo? I'm not getting no tattoo. Yeah. See? I'm not racing, so I don't have to get one 'cause [sighs]
• 34:40
'Cause I don't know. Unless [laughs] I remember one of the, the- Mm-hmm... the first or second one I, one of the bonus checkpoints was go and, uh, uh, take a sledgehammer and break up somebody's driveway- Yeah...
• 34:50
so, so they get it r- [laughs]... it, it repaved.
• 34:53
Uh [smacks lips] so un- unless, you know, like when people say that, "Well, we're getting back to our roots," unless we're doing demo on somebody's, uh, uh, driveway- Oh, no... I'm not interested in hearing that.
• 35:01
So did you- I, I remember filling sandbags for Habitat Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Did you- No, I, I'm, I'm not complaining. I, like- Did-... it was, it was wild. It was, it was a good time.
• 35:09
And then, uh- Did any of you have to wear a wooden antique dildo between your legs at Planned Parenthood and jump to an area and then put a condom on the dildo and jump back? If not, shut the fuck up.
• 35:22
[laughs] I- 'Cause I did that... do not think so. I did that. Yeah. But you would've also done that on a Tuesday, so, uh- Right, I would've. Yeah, it wouldn't have mattered. Oh, yeah, sure, I'll do that.
• 35:30
Seems like a no-brainer. Yeah. I, I mean, like, and, and, you know, I, what I will say if, i- if we're, if getting back to the basics of, like, the 24 was DIY. It was punk rock. Go in with an open mind. Have a good time.
• 35:43
Meet people. Talk- Get a fucking haircut. [sighs] Yeah. [laughs] Actually, yeah, that's what I, that's what I've- Be willing to get the goatie haircuts.
• 35:50
That's what I'm, uh, I'm trying to- That's one thing I bum out about is that they don't do the haircut checkpoint anymore. Trying to find that one.
• 35:55
'Cause I've gotten butchered, and I've been thoroughly enjoyed by getting butchered. Oh, they have spent 40 minutes on my head- Mm-hmm...
• 36:00
just to make sure that I had, like, one line o- o- of, of hair- That there was no recovery... to, to give me, uh, uh, to, to, to bang me and to, to give me bangs, but it was just, like, one single, like, line of hair.
• 36:11
Yeah. Uh, you know, and, and that was fine, right?
• 36:13
Like, you know, and I, I did feel a little offended that, like, as I was doing that, um, you know, some, some of the ladies could come in and be like, "I really don't wanna do it," and then they'd just, like, take like a quarter of an inch- Yeah...
• 36:27
off of, like, the bottom at, at some point, and then they'd go on.
• 36:30
There, there was a year where- They were going to do a conservative haircut and a regular haircut, and I actually offered them $50 to shave Jake Newborn's head, and I got turned down.
• 36:41
I was willing to plug out $50 of my hard-earned money to watch this man get the worst haircut ever. He's like, "I go to work on Monday." I'm like, "You work for the fucking bike fed." Like- Yeah...
• 36:52
no one is gonna care what you look like Yeah, I, yeah, I, I, I'm, I'm uninterested in hearing anybody be like, "Oh, I gotta work, blah, blah, blah, blah." I mean, like, if you- Then don't get it.
• 36:59
Yeah, yeah, don't get it. It, it, then it's not part of the, you know. Or, or, you know, like, you know, you're, you work with these people.
• 37:04
They should be able to understand that, like, s- something like the 24, like, if, if you spend more than, like, 15 minutes with me, you're gonna hear something about the River West 24. Ooh, I would imagine, yeah.
• 37:12
And how it's the, the- During-... best thing ever. Yeah, of course And, and that, you know, it's, it's wild and it's weird, and you know what? If that's not your cup of tea- You know-... well, that's-...
• 37:21
routinely through this podcast we bring up DiNardo Colucci. DiNardo Colucci got a checkered board shaved head. Mm-hmm.
• 37:29
And the next day he had to meet with the King of Jordan to discuss a holodome exhibit he was building for him. He started out by explaining why his hair looked ridiculous, and they loved it.
• 37:40
I'm like, all right, there you go. I'm sorry. That- Yeah, and, and, uh- Can't be fast... especially if you're, if you're talking about, like, the, you know, the...
• 37:48
And there's a lot of different true meanings of the River West 24, but, you know- Mm... it's, it's about community. Uh, it's about being able to prove that you can be anywhere in River West, which has a reputation.
• 37:57
Uh- And be safe. Yeah, be safe and have fun. Uh, and that, you know, like, everybody does, you know, there's, you know, pie-throwing contests for other, like, church festivals and whatever, you know. Like- Yeah...
• 38:08
this is just the- We could do this too... the more DIY punk rock version, you know? Right.
• 38:11
Well, what I always notice is that, you know, uh, on a normal year, uh, in, in any of the last 10 years or more, it's not only 1,000 people doing this on bikes, it's another t- 1,500 volunteers minimum. Minimum. Minimum.
• 38:25
And 10,000 s- Spectators... neighborhood residents- Having a fucking blast... being part of it. And- Other than my neighbor across the street, who's a douche...
• 38:32
there's absolutely no city in the country that does it like they do it here. Okay, nurse I mean, they've tried to do this in Minneapolis. They've tried to do it in- Yeah, that, it didn't work. Yeah, it didn't work...
• 38:39
Portland. It went for a couple years. Rockf- y- I mean, Rockford has done it with- Yeah... with Dirty Dan. Yep.
• 38:43
And I know that they're working on community, but this is a little more tight-knit here, I think, than some of those, you know. I mean, I don't know that- But this is how you get that tight-knit, right? Right. Right.
• 38:52
Like, that, like- This is how it goes. Uh- Right on... but I know this podcast is getting really long, but- You're getting really long. [laughs] What's, what's that purple fat bike doing on the stand there, Craig?
• 39:03
That's what I... [laughs] Oh, that's, uh, actually the last, that's the last Ape from Teesdale. Is that a smaller- That's the very last Schleck Cycles Ape... what size is that? A medium? It's a medium. It's a medium. Oh.
• 39:11

by the way, also during the River West 24-... it had, like, a little Friar Tuck thing... there may or may not be a checkpoint in this facility or a bonus, and I think we should have a podcast going through that.
• 39:57
There will definitely be podcasts going on. I think- The basic question's why they're doing it, why we're having fun.
• 40:01
Yeah, we're gonna pull people in, and, um, and that reminds me that if you're looking for show number 122 next Friday, don't worry about it. It's coming later because- Yeah... we're gonna be on a boot.
• 40:11
On a boot and having fun. And then we'll do the 24 thing, and then we'll post 122. Well, Tony's not gonna be on the boot. So he can, he can post. Tony doesn't do any show production either. Oh.
• 40:19
He's just, he's just talent. Oh. He's not really, he's not really production. Just here for the looks. You know? Yeah, he's got- You do have the face for podcasting. Yeah, he does.

• 40:49
you know, anybody that, uh, uh, it, that, that has a cycling life is always welcome here. Yep. And if you're coming through Milwaukee- Oh, Milwaukee... for crying out loud, give us a shout.

• 41:06
[laughs] It's, it's just one of those things because- I know Social contract... yeah, it, it, right. [laughs] It just gives everybody an excuse to be at the same place at the same time.
• 41:15
[laughs] All right, everybody, thank you and, uh, come again, as, as they say- Come again. Bye-bye... in, in the parlays of, uh- You're buying your groceries and come again...
