- Lucas: Hey Luna, you ready for another episode of Learn French with Fexingo? Luna: I am! I've been practicing the living room vocabulary from last time. Canapé, télévision, table basse — got it. Lucas: Awesome. Today we're going to talk about sports. A nice active topic. Luna: Oh, perfect. I like sports. Let's hear some French phrases. Lucas: First basic phrase: Je fais du sport. It means 'I do sports.' Say it with me: Je fais du sport. Luna: Je fais du sport. Lucas: Good. Now, if you want to ask someone if they like a specific sport, you can say: Tu aimes le football? 'Do you like football?' Luna: Tu aimes le football? Lucas: Exactly. And if you play a sport, you say: Je joue au tennis. 'I play tennis.' Luna: Je joue au tennis. Lucas: Yes. Or if you swim: Je nage. 'I swim.' Luna: Je nage. Lucas: Let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're talking to a friend. I'll ask you: Tu aimes le football? You can say yes: Oui, j'aime le football. Or no: Non, je préfère le tennis. Luna: Okay. Let me try. Tu aimes le football? Oui, j'aime le football. Lucas: There you go. Or if you don't like football, you can say: Non, je préfère le tennis. Luna: Non, je préfère le tennis. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's practice all of them together. Repeat after me: Je fais du sport. Luna: Je fais du sport. Lucas: Tu aimes le football? Luna: Tu aimes le football? Lucas: Je joue au tennis. Luna: Je joue au tennis. Lucas: Je nage. Luna: Je nage. Lucas: Oui, j'aime le football. Luna: Oui, j'aime le football. Lucas: Non, je préfère le tennis. Luna: Non, je préfère le tennis. Lucas: You're doing great. You know, I love that Fexingo keeps these lessons ad-free. Luna: Yeah, I think it's nice that there are no interruptions. Just learning. So anyway, let's keep practicing sports. How about a little dialogue? Lucas: Good idea. I'll be me, you be you. I say: Salut, tu fais du sport? You answer: Oui, je fais du tennis. Then I ask: Tu aimes le football? You say: Non, je préfère la natation. Luna: Wait, 'la natation' — that's swimming, right? Lucas: Exactly. So let's try. Salut, tu fais du sport? Luna: Oui, je fais du tennis. Lucas: Tu aimes le football? Luna: Non, je préfère la natation. Lucas: Parfait. You said 'je fais du tennis' and 'la natation'. Great work. Luna: Thanks. So 'je nage' is another way to say I swim, right? Lucas: Yes, exactly. Je nage is 'I swim', and la natation is 'swimming' as a sport. Both are useful. Luna: I think I've got it. Let me run through all the phrases one more time. Lucas: Go for it. Luna: Je fais du sport. Tu aimes le football? Je joue au tennis. Je nage. Oui, j'aime le football. Non, je préfère le tennis. Lucas: Nailed it. You're ready to talk about sports in French. Luna: Awesome. I'll practice these today. Thanks, Lucas. Lucas: My pleasure. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn French with Fexingo. À bientôt.
