- 0:01The cultural background of the West clearly differs from the
- 0:05background found in India, which has a history of Spiritual
- 0:10Development, stretching back, thousands of years, westerners
- 0:14tend to have difficulty with the concept of surrender to the
- 0:18grooves guidance, whereas, in India, this is an accepted
- 0:22concept and thus, fits more perfectly into the psychological
- 0:27framework of the people. When a Westerner attempts to
- 0:31surrender to the guru, he does not have the needed.
- 0:35Cultural framework to distinguish the truth of the
- 0:38Guru from the individuals who come to pray upon Him due to his
- 0:44basic ignorance and thus is more subject to being manipulated by
- 0:49a con man, posing as a guru, whose actual goals are
- 0:54achievement of power, wealth, sex and fame.

- 1:04devotees were poisoned or provoked, a violent against.
- 1:07Others is a cautionary, Tale. But there are also instances of
- 1:12pseudo gurus who represent themselves as Divine guides and
- 1:17who use the innocence and lack of background in spiritual
- 1:21matters to entrap young people The tale of Miller epis laborers
- 1:26at the behest of his Guru. Marpa is frequently used by
- 1:30these con artists to illustrate the type of unquestioning
- 1:34surrender that they are seeking. Of course, there are true,
- 1:39relationships and sincere gurus as well for the Westerner,
- 1:45however, particularly in early stages, it is difficult to
- 1:50distinguish the difference and it requires a strong Ang
- 1:54aspiration and orientation toward the deeper spiritual
- 1:58Truth for the Seeker from the West to find and benefit from
- 2:02the guru relationship in many cases.
- 2:07A sincere Guru will recognize the limitations imposed by the
- 2:11cultural background of the Westerner and find ways to work
- 2:15around the issues. Until there is a true trust, and
- 2:19comfort level established. This is not to imply that people
- 2:24of India, or any other land are immune from this type of
- 2:28manipulation and deception. They also have to address the
- 2:32concerns but have at least the cultural background to
- 2:36understand more fully how to navigate The Dangers that can
- 2:40arise. The Westerner then has the added
- 2:44difficulty of overcoming, all the social mental and emotional
- 2:49conditioning that values and emphasizes the ego personality.
- 2:54And thus conflicts with the psychics, need to subordinate
- 2:58the ego to the higher Guidance. The inner guidance of the
- 3:02psychic presence eventually is required for anyone to
- 3:06distinguish truth from falsehood and be able then to undertake
- 3:11the aboard nation of the ego to the Divine guidance, as
- 3:16channeled through the guru. The mother, right?
- 3:20Quote, the Western mind. Always finds it difficult to
- 3:24submit. Totally to a guru and without
- 3:28total and unquestioning surrender to the guru, his help
- 3:32to you as paralyzed. That is why generally I advise
- 3:36westerners to find the guidance and the presence within
- 3:39themselves. It is true that this process is
- 3:43very often open to uncertainty and self-deception.
- 3:48Getting some voice of the ego in Disguise for the divine's
- 3:52guidance, in both cases, it is only an absolute sincerity and
- 3:59an unmixed humility that can be your Safeguard and quote
