Latest / Stugotz and Company / Set 2: Talking NBA with Field Yates
Transcript
- 0:22Speaker 1: This is very exciting. Field Yates is with us not
- 0:24Speaker 1: to talk about the NFL Draft. He wants to talk NBA.
- 0:27Speaker 1: He asked us a week ago can we talk MBA?
- 0:29Speaker 1: And we said, yeah, after the draft we could talk MBA.
- 0:31Speaker 1: We could do it every week if you want. Plus,
- 0:33Speaker 1: we had mel kiper Junior on yesterday for forty two minutes.
- 0:36Speaker 1: We got three questions in Field.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Got that many?
- 0:41Speaker 3: Field, let me know if you got my venmo that
- 0:42Speaker 3: got you to ask you this question?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Okay?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Because when I asked him to talk NBA, He's like, no,
- 0:47Speaker 3: we'll do something else. But when Field Yates asked him,
- 0:50Speaker 3: we're carving at the time.
- 0:51Speaker 1: In fact, he left the h He left the radio
- 0:53Speaker 1: show a segment early yesterday and we started talking NBA
- 0:56Speaker 1: and then he came back because he was mad at us.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I'm disarming. What can I say? It's one of my
- 1:02Speaker 2: special traits.
- 1:03Speaker 1: All right, So how are we going to do this?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Are we going to discuss? Do you have questions for?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Is he you want to just talk NBA? And is
- 1:09Speaker 1: he will give you like draft grades on your performance?
- 1:11Speaker 1: How do you want to do this?
- 1:12Speaker 2: You guys, tell me your show, your rules. I'll follow
- 1:15Speaker 2: all right.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Well, we'll see is he will give you a draft grade.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Not me, not Mikey, not Taylor, just you. Okay, So
- 1:22Speaker 1: let's start here, Field, you're a Celtics fan, correct, I'm.
- 1:25Speaker 2: A Celtics fan. Let's go baby, all right?
- 1:27Speaker 1: All right? So how do we feel about the Celtics here?
- 1:29Speaker 1: They're up three to two in this series. It's headed
- 1:31Speaker 1: back to Philadelphia tonight. They're taking on the Sixers Embiid.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I thought they were better without Embiid. Now I think
- 1:38Speaker 1: Embiid's the best player on the floor. What he feels
- 1:40Speaker 1: like being the best player on the floor. How does
- 1:42Speaker 1: Field Yates feel about this series? Moving forward? Here?
- 1:45Speaker 4: So the Celtics have this this history, this rich history
- 1:47Speaker 4: which has included a lot of glory. It also includes
- 1:50Speaker 4: this thing where like once a series against an inferior opponent, they.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Just barfed down their leg and lose a game. They shouldn't.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Celtics fans out there know what I'm talking about. It
- 1:58Speaker 4: happens two or three times of playoffs. And I think
- 2:03Speaker 4: when you see that they lose Game five, a game
- 2:05Speaker 4: after they had won back to back games, they had
- 2:06Speaker 4: won convincingly. In Game four in Philadelphia, shot the lights out.
- 2:11Speaker 4: You would have guessed that if they lose Game five,
- 2:13Speaker 4: it's one of those games where they just play like
- 2:14Speaker 4: crap and they lose. I actually thought the Sixers places
- 2:17Speaker 4: damn good in Game five. MB was unbelievable, right, I
- 2:20Speaker 4: mean the Celtics are thin at center right now, and
- 2:24Speaker 4: I don't mean just in terms of depth, like they
- 2:26Speaker 4: are literally thin, like Joel Embiid just basically back down
- 2:29Speaker 4: Vouch and Nimius Kaida and Luca Garza at will on
- 2:33Speaker 4: Tuesday night. So I wasn't happy about that. I still
- 2:36Speaker 4: feel confident they get the job done tonight in Philly.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Just this team has never been afraid to play on
- 2:42Speaker 4: the road. They've actually, in some way's been better on
- 2:44Speaker 4: the road in the playoffs, right, which is not common
- 2:46Speaker 4: in the NBA. I think they win tonight, but Tuesday
- 2:49Speaker 4: night was not cool. It was my first game, or
- 2:52Speaker 4: I guess their first game back that wasn't during the
- 2:55Speaker 4: NFL Draft that I could watch in full, right, And
- 2:58Speaker 4: I was definitely hoping it, hoping for it to be
- 3:00Speaker 4: a series clinching games.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So what will the scene be like tonight in the
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yates household? For because I I have Philadelphia winning the
- 3:06Speaker 1: series at seven on Boston's home court.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I said that, Yeah, I can't. I can't hear you.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I missed that last time.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I said, yeah, but scene, Yeah, what's the scene in
- 3:16Speaker 1: the Yates household today for a Celtics game? Like are you?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Are you watching it the way everyone else does? Your fan?
- 3:21Speaker 1: I mean that's it?
- 3:22Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, no. And the only good thing about the
- 3:25Speaker 4: eight o'clock Normally I'm not a fan of later star
- 3:27Speaker 4: times for any of the teams that I enjoy watching
- 3:30Speaker 4: any other sports that I enjoy watching. Yeah, uh, but
- 3:32Speaker 4: a PM allows me to get my children down and
- 3:35Speaker 4: then actually watch the game in some level of peace
- 3:38Speaker 4: and quiet.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yes, this is how you put the kids the bed game.
- 3:40Speaker 1: It is, I mean game six and I put the
- 3:42Speaker 1: kids the bed game. Yes, eight o'clock a good time.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Put the kids to bed and the sixers to bed. Yes,
- 3:47Speaker 2: you know I'm putting this this.
- 3:49Speaker 4: This needle right now where my kids are getting older,
- 3:52Speaker 4: and but they still take naps when they're at school, not.
- 3:56Speaker 2: When they are at home on the weekend.
- 3:58Speaker 4: And so my kids runs fricking energizer Bunny Monday through
- 4:02Speaker 4: Friday at home. So getting them down before seven point
- 4:05Speaker 4: thirty is an absolute chore and as Eddie parents with
- 4:07Speaker 4: young children going to test, it's a freaking battle at
- 4:10Speaker 4: night getting these kids down.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so we'll get them down.
- 4:12Speaker 4: And then when we bought this house that we live in,
- 4:15Speaker 4: my wife and I were looking through it and she's
- 4:17Speaker 4: going through and she's taking notes of all the things
- 4:19Speaker 4: that she liked when we were looking at this house,
- 4:21Speaker 4: and the first thing that I mentioned was there was
- 4:23Speaker 4: this wall in what is sort of the area that
- 4:25Speaker 4: we spend most of our time in next to our
- 4:28Speaker 4: kitchen that had this gigantic.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Capacity to hold a TV.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I happen to own a one hundred inch TV, and
- 4:35Speaker 4: so my wife was like, of course, your dumbass would
- 4:38Speaker 4: see that as opposed to the piano that was previously
- 4:42Speaker 4: in that.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Spot for the old homeowners.
- 4:45Speaker 4: I have no musical bones in my body, so that
- 4:47Speaker 4: was of no use to me. So tonight we'll be
- 4:49Speaker 4: a sit in front of this one hundred inch TV
- 4:51Speaker 4: and for a game clinching Celtics effort.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So my concern about the Celtics is, unlike years past
- 4:58Speaker 1: where they won an NBA title, they're missing certain little pieces.
- 5:01Speaker 1: They still have Tatum obviously, they still have Jalen Brown obviously,
- 5:05Speaker 1: but they're missing small pieces like Drew Holliday, who has
- 5:08Speaker 1: won a bunch of titles. Al Horford is no longer
- 5:11Speaker 1: there and so therefore I feel like this Celtic team,
- 5:13Speaker 1: as excited as I was headed into the playoffs, they're
- 5:16Speaker 1: not nearly as good as the team that won an
- 5:18Speaker 1: NBA title, and the Sixers can be. I mean, they're
- 5:20Speaker 1: a different team every single night. I have zero confidence
- 5:23Speaker 1: the Celtics are going to win this series. But if
- 5:25Speaker 1: they do, I have zero confidence of the Celtics winning
- 5:28Speaker 1: an NBA title.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Well that would be against potentially your Knicks in the
- 5:31Speaker 2: next round.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it was interesting because I would disagree in the
- 5:34Speaker 4: idea that Celtics don't have as many guys because one
- 5:36Speaker 4: of the coolest parts of this Celtics season was the
- 5:39Speaker 4: development of players that came into this year with basically
- 5:42Speaker 4: no acclaim. Nimias Cada Baylor Shireman, their first round pick
- 5:46Speaker 4: last year, who was like the thirtieth overall pick in
- 5:49Speaker 4: the draft, had zero confidence as a rookie and has
- 5:51Speaker 4: been like legitimately good for them this year.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Peyton Pritchard is ridiculous. Now.
- 5:56Speaker 4: The thing that I've actually been most concerned about in
- 5:58Speaker 4: the playoffs so far from the Celtics, and it's kind
- 6:00Speaker 4: of a season long theme is Derek White, who just
- 6:04Speaker 4: can't shoot ball right now. Like he does a ton
- 6:06Speaker 4: of things and other capacities. He's like the greatest blocking
- 6:10Speaker 4: guard of like his generation, if not ever, but he
- 6:13Speaker 4: can't shoot right now. And as we know, the Celtics
- 6:15Speaker 4: are a lib by the three, die by the three
- 6:17Speaker 4: team and he's one of my favorite players great podcaster
- 6:22Speaker 4: turns out not as good as you, but a great
- 6:24Speaker 4: podcast as well. Derek White, he just can't shoot right now.
- 6:27Speaker 4: I don't know when he forgot how to do one
- 6:29Speaker 4: of the most fundamental parts of basketball.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So how does this work? Will you rip Derek White, Tatum,
- 6:33Speaker 1: Jalen Brown if they don't get it done? Like? How
- 6:36Speaker 1: like you like it?
- 6:37Speaker 2: Remember like I will?
- 6:41Speaker 4: And maybe this will at some point turn around and
- 6:43Speaker 4: work against me. But like, if the Celtics ever trade
- 6:47Speaker 4: Jason Tatum or Jalen Brown, the latter who has been
- 6:50Speaker 4: speculated upon much more frequently, and Derek White, there's like
- 6:54Speaker 4: pretty much no player they could trade for that would
- 6:56Speaker 4: make me happy. Tatum has been here for nine years,
- 7:00Speaker 4: Brown ten years. Derek White not as long, but Derek
- 7:03Speaker 4: White's out there every single night. Like those guys are
- 7:06Speaker 4: just they're fabric of the franchise type player. So I'm
- 7:09Speaker 4: like totally one fan when it comes to this team.
- 7:13Speaker 4: And while I can be frustrated and objective, I get
- 7:17Speaker 4: very emotionally invested in these players, to the point that
- 7:20Speaker 4: it would be a problem if I think these guys
- 7:22Speaker 4: were traded. Like it was hard enough for me to
- 7:23Speaker 4: deal with the anfrety Simon's being traded to trade deadline
- 7:26Speaker 4: this past year, I'm not sure what to do if
- 7:28Speaker 4: Derek White was no longer a sting.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I mean, Simon's had a cup of coffee with the Celtics.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I don't know why that would outrage you.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I feel, like I said, I'm one a fan who's
- 7:36Speaker 4: speaking purely through emotion right now.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but I feel like Celtic fans, as much as
- 7:40Speaker 1: they love Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown, if Tatum, god forbid,
- 7:43Speaker 1: misses a little bunny there for you know, a Game
- 7:45Speaker 1: six or Game seven victory, they're gonna want to trade them.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You know that's what a real fan would do.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yes, fourth in a nutshell, right.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Field I can't get Stu Gotts to talk this
- 7:55Speaker 3: much NBA basketball ever. And now when I'm supposed to
- 7:58Speaker 3: give me a seconds to talk about it, now he's
- 8:01Speaker 3: just about to talk Celtics the teacher and just boxing.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Me out here. You're the teacher. You're supposed to be
- 8:06Speaker 1: grading I'm and all I'm trying to do is is
- 8:08Speaker 1: you know, get Field, Help get Field a better grade,
- 8:11Speaker 1: because most Celtic fans, you would agree, is real good.
- 8:13Speaker 1: He eras as much as they appreciate Jason Tatum and
- 8:17Speaker 1: love Jalen Brown. If God forbid, one of those guys
- 8:20Speaker 1: has a bad game at a big game seven against
- 8:22Speaker 1: the Sixers and they lose to Joel Embiid, I don't
- 8:25Speaker 1: care how much you love them, you're gonna blast them.
- 8:28Speaker 1: You're calling into WEEI the next morning and you're cutting
- 8:31Speaker 1: and firing and you're trading everyone. That's what you did,
- 8:34Speaker 1: was a Celtic fan.
- 8:34Speaker 3: You also got a quick update on the household, the family,
- 8:39Speaker 3: everything else.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I don't get these questions. I get none of this.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You can't smile.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I'm curious Field. You mentioned that once. I think you
- 8:46Speaker 3: mentioned this it was a minute ago. Uh you mentioned
- 8:48Speaker 3: that they ever once every playoff series the Celtics kind
- 8:52Speaker 3: of pee down their legs. Which one of those losses
- 8:55Speaker 3: at home in this series was the pee down their
- 8:57Speaker 3: leg and which was the other one?
- 8:59Speaker 2: It was the most recent one.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that is field ripping somebody peeing down their legs.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I believe it was BARF for the second round.
- 9:11Speaker 4: It just kind of kids continues to graduate. Yeah, it
- 9:14Speaker 4: was game five. Game two was actually full disclosure, I
- 9:17Speaker 4: was I was flying to Pittsburgh during Game two, so
- 9:20Speaker 4: I was kind of watching the game bits and pieces
- 9:23Speaker 4: as Wi Fi wasn't cooperating. Actually, believe it or not,
- 9:25Speaker 4: I was in I was flying through Philly, uh to Pittsburgh,
- 9:29Speaker 4: through Hartford, and it took me a minute to realize
- 9:32Speaker 4: so the game was not on at least a lot
- 9:34Speaker 4: of the restaurants and bars that I passed during my
- 9:37Speaker 4: walk around the Philadelphia airport. I realized, like, that's one
- 9:39Speaker 4: of the trickle down impacts, probably having the game on
- 9:42Speaker 4: Prime that night.
- 9:44Speaker 2: The NBA, of course, is printing.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Money like they're probably you know, nonplused by the fact
- 9:48Speaker 4: that a game is not on an airport bar. But
- 9:51Speaker 4: I'm sitting up there, I'm like, why am I watching,
- 9:54Speaker 4: I might have been like, you know, thunder Sons, I'm like,
- 9:57Speaker 4: why am I watching the thunder Sun's game right now?
- 9:59Speaker 4: Like it's game two of the six or Celtics now
- 10:01Speaker 4: says Philadelphia Airport, there's you know, there's Tyree's, Tyres, Maxi
- 10:06Speaker 4: and bj Edgecombe jerseys and also still a gigantic AJ
- 10:09Speaker 4: Brown jersey in the Philadelphia Airport, which I thought about
- 10:13Speaker 4: alerting somebody that's probably.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Not very valuable for about thirty five days.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Meanwhile, the NBA is telling you that their numbers are
- 10:20Speaker 3: better than ever for the playoff.
- 10:21Speaker 1: They because they're measuring them differently. Yes, they have all
- 10:24Speaker 1: the numbers combined. Yeah, correct field.
- 10:26Speaker 3: So the reason I asked you, like which one was
- 10:29Speaker 3: the p down their leg game because the sort of
- 10:33Speaker 3: same issue with both of them was the three point shooting.
- 10:36Speaker 3: It's the common denominator with the Celtics. If they shoot
- 10:39Speaker 3: under thirty percent from three, doesn't matter where they play,
- 10:42Speaker 3: good chance you or decent chance you're going to be
- 10:44Speaker 3: able to beat them. And so I'm not sure what
- 10:46Speaker 3: gives any Celtics fan confidence from one game to the
- 10:49Speaker 3: next that they're going to make those shots, other than hey,
- 10:52Speaker 3: most of the time, meaning more than half the time
- 10:54Speaker 3: we do make those shots, and so we're going to
- 10:56Speaker 3: take our chances with that being the case again, but
- 10:58Speaker 3: Philly seems to have the type of guards, the type
- 11:01Speaker 3: of bigs when embids in there and active, that can,
- 11:04Speaker 3: if not limit their three point attempts, at least make
- 11:07Speaker 3: them a little bit more difficult. Have you seen anything
- 11:09Speaker 3: there that sort of gives you nerves?
- 11:11Speaker 4: This is like a rep This is like a legitimate
- 11:14Speaker 4: seventh seed in the NBA Playoffs. Like forever, the West
- 11:18Speaker 4: has been superior to the East. It also felt to
- 11:21Speaker 4: me this year though, that the bottom half of the
- 11:23Speaker 4: West compared to the bottom half.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Of the East.
- 11:25Speaker 4: I don't know what scenario would have taken for Portland
- 11:28Speaker 4: to truly challenge San Antonio, but that I mean, it
- 11:33Speaker 4: was pretty far fetched. Wemby misses a game and they
- 11:36Speaker 4: still can't end up, they still can't beat them, Right,
- 11:40Speaker 4: they got him, They got the Spurs in the game
- 11:42Speaker 4: that Wemby went down with the concussion. Obviously, the Suns
- 11:45Speaker 4: and the Thunder Like the Suns were a cool, scrappy story.
- 11:48Speaker 4: But like in the East, the two teams that had
- 11:50Speaker 4: the seventh and eighth seed, the seventh seed.
- 11:52Speaker 2: The Sixers came.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Into the year that if they were healthy, this team
- 11:56Speaker 4: can be good. And by the way, this team right
- 11:58Speaker 4: out of the gates, playing the Celtics very difficult.
- 12:00Speaker 2: They beat them on opening night. VJ.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Edgecombe had this ridiculous thirty four point out first and
- 12:04Speaker 4: you're like, my god, was this.
- 12:06Speaker 2: The guy that was supposed to go number one? Overall?
- 12:09Speaker 4: The truth is that all three of the players, heck
- 12:11Speaker 4: all four of the guys that went one through four
- 12:12Speaker 4: this past year, were awesome in the NBA and their
- 12:15Speaker 4: rookie seasons. But and then the magic, like the magic
- 12:19Speaker 4: just said everything humanly possible to screw up the regular season,
- 12:23Speaker 4: and now they have, you know, waters kind of found
- 12:25Speaker 4: its level. It might be too late. We'll see whether
- 12:27Speaker 4: they can finish the series against Detroit. But the Sixers
- 12:29Speaker 4: are like a legit seven seed, and the Celtics for
- 12:31Speaker 4: a lot of years like the first round. Perhaps they've
- 12:34Speaker 4: punched down at times in the first round, but they've
- 12:36Speaker 4: also faced some absolute like some garbage seventh seeds. So
- 12:41Speaker 4: this one is like a step forward as far as
- 12:43Speaker 4: competition is concerned. But what gives me confidence is he's
- 12:46Speaker 4: probably just you know, this is not the way they
- 12:48Speaker 4: play offense is not new this year as you know, well,
- 12:51Speaker 4: this is this is Missoula ball, and this is a
- 12:53Speaker 4: handful of seasons now, Joe mizul the ball. And one
- 12:56Speaker 4: thing I do admire about Joe Missoula. At times it
- 12:59Speaker 4: frustrates me, but I I would say, generally speaking, I
- 13:01Speaker 4: find it to be admirable.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Is that, you know, like he's got a formula and.
- 13:04Speaker 4: An approach, and far more often than not, it's a
- 13:08Speaker 4: very successful approach. So I expect them to do what
- 13:10Speaker 4: they have been doing all season, year, prior year, prior
- 13:14Speaker 4: to that, et cetera, and just keep shooting.
- 13:16Speaker 1: They've earned your trust, Yes, they've earned your trust.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Yeah it has they have it?
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, So I give you an a on the Celtics.
- 13:32Speaker 1: But the Celtics at your wheel now. So I'm gonna
- 13:34Speaker 1: go series by series here, just toss it to you. Okay,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you give us your thoughts on the series, and then
- 13:39Speaker 1: is he's going to give you a grade. I love
- 13:41Speaker 1: that the basketball expert is asking the football expert his
- 13:44Speaker 1: opinion on the basketball series. Let's go Nix Hawks. Knicks
- 13:47Speaker 1: are up three games to two. It's headed back to
- 13:49Speaker 1: Atlanta tonight. Your thoughts on Nixon Hawks.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Yeah, this is Jenleen Brugs smelled blood last game, clearly
- 13:56Speaker 4: the best player in this series. The Hawks got hot
- 13:58Speaker 4: at the right time, obviously well down the stretch. But
- 14:01Speaker 4: there's just no Alpha that can score. If the Hawks
- 14:04Speaker 4: don't get good contributions from a handful of guys on
- 14:07Speaker 4: the offensive side of the ball, it just isn't happening, right.
- 14:10Speaker 4: They have no one offensive engine that comes anywhere close
- 14:13Speaker 4: to Jalen Brunson, even with CJ McCollum playing ridiculous the
- 14:16Speaker 4: first couple games of the series. I genuinely lean towards
- 14:21Speaker 4: if teams are at least in the same stratosphere, whoever
- 14:23Speaker 4: has the best player is a better bet to win.
- 14:26Speaker 4: I think the next end of winning tonight, closing this
- 14:29Speaker 4: one out, making their fans frustrated for a couple of
- 14:32Speaker 4: games there, but advancing maybe saving Mike Brown's job in
- 14:36Speaker 4: the process too.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Well, I don't know about that. Frances said he has
- 14:39Speaker 1: to get to the East at least the NBA Finals
- 14:41Speaker 1: or else he's fired. So yeah, the teams said, No,
- 14:44Speaker 1: I don't know, Dolan, He's all over the place, is
- 14:46Speaker 1: he how would you grade that that performance? There by
- 14:49Speaker 1: field that one?
- 14:50Speaker 3: It was accurate, it was not as detailed as the
- 14:54Speaker 3: Celtics one time. Yeah, no, it's true, it's true. I
- 14:58Speaker 3: give that one a solid. It's a B minus for me.
- 15:02Speaker 1: All right, be min that's that's positive. Second round. Well,
- 15:06Speaker 1: I don't know, Taylor, he had the NIXT winning the
- 15:08Speaker 1: series tonight in Atlanta. It's not going back to the Mecca.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I give him an A. I don't know about you.
- 15:12Speaker 1: How do you feel about that, Taylor?
- 15:14Speaker 5: I'm more of the lines where it was. It was
- 15:16Speaker 5: a strong analysis. I've got it early second round, maybe
- 15:20Speaker 5: falling to the end of the.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Second, but he's picking our team therefore, and I can
- 15:23Speaker 1: be bought therefore, I give him an A. You know
- 15:25Speaker 1: he can bump up this grade with one follow up question?
- 15:29Speaker 1: All right, is he's going to help you bump up
- 15:30Speaker 1: the grade? Hold on?
- 15:31Speaker 3: And it's actually from the previous yeries we spoke of.
- 15:34Speaker 3: As a Celtics fan, how irritated are you every time
- 15:37Speaker 3: Jason Tatum complaints.
- 15:38Speaker 1: To the officials? Well every time, I mean every possession.
- 15:43Speaker 4: But honestly, like that's that's my least favorite part of
- 15:46Speaker 4: the NBA is every single one of the goddamn stars
- 15:48Speaker 4: does it all the time, Like it drives me bonkers.
- 15:52Speaker 4: These guys are ridiculous, Like it's not working, it's not
- 15:55Speaker 4: going to change the so just give it a rest.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Plus it's up to a B plus.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Wow, look at that spec Fields is fandom so much
- 16:02Speaker 5: because even though we're on opposite ends of the aisle,
- 16:04Speaker 5: him with Boston, me with New York. Yeah, I still
- 16:07Speaker 5: can't get over the fact that he was that upset
- 16:09Speaker 5: that the Celtics traded Anthony Simon because I'm looking up how.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Many games he played. He played forty nine games with
- 16:16Speaker 1: the Celtics, exactly like they got rid of Michale I
- 16:18Speaker 1: mean lighting in a bottle.
- 16:20Speaker 2: He was lightning in a bottle off the bench. The
- 16:21Speaker 2: guy could shoot him into games.
- 16:23Speaker 1: How many twenty five point games did he have off
- 16:25Speaker 1: the bench? That guy was easy to fall in love with.
- 16:27Speaker 2: He was yeh and there.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I understand the trade for a lot of reasons, but yeah,
- 16:32Speaker 4: it didn't make it easy.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Right. You want Celtics Knicks in the next round, correct?
- 16:36Speaker 1: You want to see that as a fan, you want
- 16:37Speaker 1: to see that, right or right? Yeah?
- 16:40Speaker 4: Like the Knicks to decide to end the season after
- 16:43Speaker 4: this series is over and just give the Celtics a series.
- 16:46Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean it would be the NBA has
- 16:49Speaker 4: the chance for a ridiculous second round. Yes, like you
- 16:53Speaker 4: should be expected that the NBA Conference finals each year
- 16:56Speaker 4: are really good, but a second round that has Celtics
- 16:59Speaker 4: Knicks no matter what happens in the three sixth series
- 17:02Speaker 4: in the West, like to get Spurs versus Timberwolves or Nuggets,
- 17:07Speaker 4: you know, especially the Nuggets being slightly healthier than Minnesota
- 17:10Speaker 4: right now, like come on, now, that's gonna be a
- 17:12Speaker 4: big And then even if the team is going to
- 17:14Speaker 4: get trounced in probably five games, right, Thunder versus Rockets
- 17:20Speaker 4: or Thunder you know, if the Rockets come back and
- 17:21Speaker 4: you have the first team to ever overcome a three
- 17:23Speaker 4: zero deficit, or Thunder versus Lebron and whatever is left
- 17:27Speaker 4: to the Lakers.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Like that's big time ratings right there.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Yes, let's go to that Lakers Rockets series. Is he
- 17:32Speaker 1: is back? I mean, he loves the Rockets. They're better
- 17:34Speaker 1: without Kevin Durant, how about that?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Yeah, curious who you think is the most important player
- 17:39Speaker 3: in that series not named Lebron James.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Kevin the Urant not playing.
- 17:43Speaker 4: No, I would say on men Thompson's playing like forty
- 17:45Speaker 4: five and a half minutes per.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Game right now, it's ridiculous.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Yeah, and these games like they they are far more
- 17:52Speaker 4: prone to a rock fight than some of the other
- 17:55Speaker 4: series that we are seeing. It feels to me like
- 17:58Speaker 4: men Thompson, who had like this kind of like up
- 18:00Speaker 4: and down year. There was the idea that this guy
- 18:02Speaker 4: was going to take it to like a different stratosphere
- 18:05Speaker 4: and we'd be talking about him as the best player
- 18:07Speaker 4: on the Rockets by the end of the season or offensively.
- 18:11Speaker 4: They have so much talent, and yet I still like,
- 18:15Speaker 4: there are a guy I just have no idea, Like
- 18:17Speaker 4: I don't read Shepherd.
- 18:20Speaker 2: What is your confidence level right now? It feels like
- 18:23Speaker 2: it's funny.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I'm glad you mentioned him because has no confidence in him.
- 18:27Speaker 3: A men Thompson is always a good answer for me.
- 18:29Speaker 3: So you're gonna get an a minus on that. Okay,
- 18:31Speaker 3: he's my favorite player in the NBA. However, I would
- 18:34Speaker 3: say the most important player not named Lebron is a
- 18:37Speaker 3: Rocket and it's reached Shepherd. When he looks like he's
- 18:40Speaker 3: competent out there, they're a different team with this group, right,
- 18:43Speaker 3: because there's nobody else that's you know, maybe Jabari Smith, right,
- 18:47Speaker 3: but nobody else really finding like that three level right
- 18:50Speaker 3: where it's just like he might shoot it from three, Oh,
- 18:52Speaker 3: he might pull up from mid range. Oh, he might
- 18:54Speaker 3: take it all the way. And also on the other
- 18:57Speaker 3: side of it when he can find a way to
- 18:59Speaker 3: not defensive liability because in game three he was Game
- 19:03Speaker 3: three I agree.
- 19:04Speaker 4: I literally just picked on him. It was like I
- 19:06Speaker 4: felt awful. I felt like I was I was an
- 19:08Speaker 4: EmPATH in that moment.
- 19:10Speaker 2: This poor kid.
- 19:11Speaker 1: There was there was a meme that say.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Seven million dollars a year, this poor kid.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a meme that said, say all you
- 19:16Speaker 3: want about KD, but Reed Shepherd should be a social
- 19:18Speaker 3: studies teacher right now and it should not be playing
- 19:20Speaker 3: in this series. And so when you saw yesterday, if
- 19:24Speaker 3: you saw it where there was this one play where
- 19:26Speaker 3: I think Reed Shepherd bumped him for a foul and
- 19:27Speaker 3: it wasn't even nan one, but Lebron gave him the
- 19:30Speaker 3: whole shoulders thing like, hey, who's your daddy type of thing.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I'm stronger than you, Like, don't do it, don't do it.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Very next play read pull up jumper. Very next play
- 19:38Speaker 3: after that, Reid steals it from Lebron for the dunk
- 19:41Speaker 3: game turned around right there, when that guy looks competent
- 19:44Speaker 3: in any way. This team can beat the Lakers even
- 19:47Speaker 3: without Kevin Durant.
- 19:49Speaker 4: What does this mean for Lebron's legacy if they if
- 19:51Speaker 4: they become the first team to ever.
- 19:53Speaker 1: You gotta, that's it, you got. That's really the only
- 19:56Speaker 1: question that needs to be Well, Listen, we skip over
- 19:59Speaker 1: Raptors got Ers because no one cares about that series,
- 20:01Speaker 1: and I'm not certain anyone cares about Magic and Pisss,
- 20:04Speaker 1: and maybe they care about the series out West. But
- 20:06Speaker 1: I am telling you right now the two things I
- 20:08Speaker 1: care about in this postseason Oklahoma City being bad for
- 20:11Speaker 1: basketball they better not make it back to the NBA Finals,
- 20:14Speaker 1: and Lebron's legacy and what is this, right, that's what
- 20:16Speaker 1: you care? Yes?
- 20:17Speaker 2: Yes, yeah? Can I quickly offer like some thoughts in
- 20:20Speaker 2: Oklahoma City?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Because plus, yeah, go ahead, this is.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Purely from a fan's perspective, right Like, It's not.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Like I'm not an NBA analyst, I'm not an NBA reporter,
- 20:31Speaker 4: I'm not an NBA voice. I am just telling you like, I,
- 20:35Speaker 4: as a fan personally find them very boring to watch Boom,
- 20:38Speaker 4: just boring and frustrating, right, Like, Yeah, And I don't
- 20:43Speaker 4: know how many followers I have that are in the
- 20:45Speaker 4: world of Oklahoma City Thunder, Twitter or whatever. But if
- 20:48Speaker 4: they like, if they disagree with that, that's fine. I'm
- 20:50Speaker 4: just giving you my opinion purely as a fan.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Right. Yes, listen, you're not a reporter here. You're not
- 20:55Speaker 1: telling us where to select certain guys in a fantasy
- 20:57Speaker 1: draft or where certain guys are going to be drafted
- 20:59Speaker 1: in the NFL draft. You're just giving your opinions on basketball,
- 21:01Speaker 1: and they're fucking boring.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I find them boring.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Shay's you know, he's inarguably second worst, second best player
- 21:09Speaker 4: in the NBA.
- 21:09Speaker 2: YadA, YadA, YadA. He might.
- 21:10Speaker 4: I think he's actually the best player in the NBA
- 21:12Speaker 4: right now. To being honest with you, but yeah, they're born.
- 21:15Speaker 4: They are not particularly fun to watch for me, and
- 21:18Speaker 4: that's just my.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Chat Holm grin.
- 21:19Speaker 3: He's supposed to be the seven foot two, do everything
- 21:22Speaker 3: big man. No, there's a couple of disease in his game.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yes, ohow is he agreeing?
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:27Speaker 3: I mean crazy, I've never I've never you know, settled
- 21:30Speaker 3: down a Thursday night and be like, yes.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Yes, yes he needs Steven Adams back on their team.
- 21:35Speaker 4: That would make them more watchable.
- 21:36Speaker 1: To me, you do you agree that if the Rockets
- 21:39Speaker 1: pull this off, if they pull it off without Kevin
- 21:42Speaker 1: Durant playing, it will be the second worst thing on
- 21:45Speaker 1: Kevin Durant's resume, number one being him winning two championships.
- 21:53Speaker 4: It might be I've heard so much Kevin Durant discourse recently.
- 21:58Speaker 4: He's still one of those guys that whenever your team
- 22:00Speaker 4: is playing against them, you're like, god, damn it, KD again,
- 22:03Speaker 4: Like this guy forty, He's still.
- 22:06Speaker 1: There's all you need to know about KD. He's hurt, man,
- 22:09Speaker 1: he's hurt. He doesn't hate his teammates. He's just hurt.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Oh he's hurt.
- 22:13Speaker 4: It right, Although I do love I don't know, I
- 22:16Speaker 4: just I love that Kevin Durant is unbothered on social
- 22:20Speaker 4: Like he's like, yeah, I will go on social media
- 22:22Speaker 4: and look at the replies and take all the heat,
- 22:24Speaker 4: whereas some of these athletes are like, I can't waste
- 22:27Speaker 4: my energy on what other people's thoughts are.
- 22:29Speaker 2: KDE's like, not just feed the beast, Feed the beast.
- 22:32Speaker 1: All right, we'll get you out of here. We know
- 22:34Speaker 1: you have to run to a radio station to Kansas City,
- 22:37Speaker 1: but quickly give us the NBA Finals. Field yates most
- 22:40Speaker 1: wants to see Celtics versus who.
- 22:44Speaker 4: I would say Celtics versus Timberwolves with aunt healthy, because
- 22:47Speaker 4: that guy is one man entertainment.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Wow, I think you just like I think that's I
- 22:53Speaker 3: don't know what that says about the West that you
- 22:54Speaker 3: went to the sixth Yeah, but what does.
- 22:55Speaker 1: It say about What does it say about Field as
- 22:58Speaker 1: a basketball fan and an at the list, Because most
- 23:00Speaker 1: people would say Celtics and Lakers, right, I mean most
- 23:04Speaker 1: people would say that, right, They would say that. No,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I would.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Say something maybe Celtics Nuggets.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe Celtics Spurs. Yeah, not Rockets, definitely not Rockets.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Nobody wants. I think Celtic Spurs might be the series
- 23:17Speaker 1: that I think most people would want to say. Probably,
- 23:19Speaker 1: that's my guest what they would say. Yes, all right, Phil,
- 23:21Speaker 1: get out of here. Enjoy your uh your little interview
- 23:24Speaker 1: there in Kansas City. I shouldn't call it little, your
- 23:26Speaker 1: big interview in Kansas City. Uh. Fortunately for you, there
- 23:29Speaker 1: are no NFL teams in Oklahoma. I think your followers
- 23:32Speaker 1: are going to stay intact here. We'll talk to you
- 23:34Speaker 1: next week. We'll break down the semi finals. Okay, you
- 23:38Speaker 1: guys see it.
