- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, let's take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number. Let's
- 0:07Speaker 1: go to Frank in South Carolina. Frank, how are you doing?
- 0:11Speaker 2: I'm good. How are you?
- 0:12Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I just want to call and give you accolades on
- 0:15Speaker 2: the news that you broadcast, especially coming from your area.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I'm surprised to hear it and happy to hear it.
- 0:25Speaker 3: You guys are.
- 0:26Speaker 2: You're doing an excellent job, and I appreciate it.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Why do you mean you're surprised? We've got plenty of
- 0:29Speaker 1: normal people here.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Well, you know, New York, from what I hear down here,
- 0:34Speaker 2: New York is not a very red state.
- 0:38Speaker 1: No, but a lot of normal people. Have you ever
- 0:42Speaker 1: been to New York?
- 0:44Speaker 2: I've never been to the city. I went to Rochester
- 0:46Speaker 2: once a long, long, long time ago.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Oh, that's not the same thing. Well, you ought to
- 0:51Speaker 1: come up here one day. Walk around.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I've been in great... I've been in Greenville, South Carolina
- 0:56Speaker 2: all my life. All right.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Well, good for Colin. Thanks for a great call. Thanks, Frank.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Take care. Let's go to Chris in Long Island. Chris,
- 1:06Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 1:08Speaker 4: Hi, Mark.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Good morning.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Yes, Chris.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Got another celebrity airport for you?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:18Speaker 6: I'll give you a clue.
- 1:19Speaker 2: He was the president of the United States, and.
- 1:23Speaker 5: He was from Missouri.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Well, that's not a celebrity. You mean Harry Truman?
- 1:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 1:30Speaker 5: But you mentioned.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's a little different. As we said, a
- 1:34Speaker 1: lot of airports are named for presidents. And there's a
- 1:37Speaker 1: whole bunch of airports named for senators. And there's a
- 1:39Speaker 1: bunch of airports named for military people. But for a celebrity,
- 1:43Speaker 1: a show business celebrity, to have an airport, very unusual.
- 1:46Speaker 1: World's shortest list. They just voted in Tennessee to name
- 1:50Speaker 1: the airport after Dolly Parton. But it's a short list.
- 1:52Speaker 1: John Lennon Airport, Liverpool Airport. John Wayne Airport, Orange County, California.
- 1:59Speaker 1: There's a Bob Hope Airport in California. There's a Louis
- 2:03Speaker 1: Armstrong Airport in New Orleans. But that's about it. Be
- 2:07Speaker 1: a celebrity, have an airport named after you. Very short list.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Let's go to Silk in Massachusetts. Silk, how are you doing?
- 2:17Speaker 3: Good. I enjoy listening to you. I know you have Massachusetts...
- 2:22Speaker 3: 40 years ago, a case that got no publicity, I
- 2:29Speaker 3: was appointed, paid $ 1, 000 to defend a murder case involving
- 2:36Speaker 3: a man who strangled his girlfriend. He was found not
- 2:41Speaker 3: guilty by reason of insanity. After testifying, had a wonderful judge,
- 2:49Speaker 3: wonderful prosecutor, wonderful jury, and a good defense.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Attorney, me.
- 2:56Speaker 1: That was you. Well, you did a good job. What
- 2:58Speaker 1: about since then? Have you been doing any more cases?
- 3:02Speaker 3: No, I'm 98 years old.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Wow, God bless you.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I'm still a member of the bar, but the case
- 3:11Speaker 3: got no publicity, and the newspapers, the media, didn't like
- 3:17Speaker 3: the result.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Oh, well.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Everybody is dead except me. He was released after going
- 3:28Speaker 3: from one state hospital to another, and then he was
- 3:35Speaker 3: on the street. Three years later, he died of a
- 3:39Speaker 3: brain tumor.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Well, Silk, you did a great job. You sound like
- 3:43Speaker 1: it was an incredible case. Good job. Thanks for calling.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Let's go to Will in Somerset. Will, how are you doing?
- 3:52Speaker 2: Pretty good, Mark.
- 3:52Speaker 4: How are you?
- 3:53Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 3:54Speaker 4: So talk about airports with celebrity names.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Santa Rosa, California, which is about 45 minutes north of
- 4:03Speaker 4: San Francisco, is named after Charles Schultz, the cartoonist.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Really?
- 4:07Speaker 1: I didn't know that. All right, there's another one. Charles Schultz.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Charles Schultz got an airport? He got an airport named
- 4:13Speaker 1: after him?
- 4:14Speaker 4: In fact, if you go there, there's a couple of
- 4:18Speaker 4: bronze statues of peanut characters out in front of the building.
- 4:21Speaker 5: Really?
- 4:21Speaker 1: All right. But people of a certain age, younger people,
- 4:24Speaker 1: must be landing there going, who the hell is Charles Schultz?
- 4:27Speaker 1: But he must be from there to get the airport
- 4:30Speaker 1: named after him.
- 4:31Speaker 2: No, actually, I'm not.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I'm from New York. I was born in Staten Island.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Schultz must be from there.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I have friends out there that I flew in there
- 4:38Speaker 4: a couple of times.
- 4:39Speaker 1: All right. Well, thanks for calling. Let's go to Lou, Union,
- 4:44Speaker 1: New Jersey. Lou, how you doing?
- 4:46Speaker 5: Yeah, good morning, Mark. The girl who's hosting the Emmy tonight,
- 4:50Speaker 5: wasn't her mother Jane Mansfield?
- 4:53Speaker 2: She got killed in a terrible car accident many years ago.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Absolutely right. Marissa Hargitay, who's on Law & Order. Father
- 4:59Speaker 1: was Mickey Hargitay, who was married to Jane Mansfield. I
- 5:03Speaker 1: think it was him that was, he was the one
- 5:05Speaker 1: driving and they were in a terrible car accident. Jane
- 5:08Speaker 1: Mansfield died very young. She got decapitated, I believe. in
- 5:12Speaker 1: that car accident. Yeah.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So Marissa Hargitay, you know, if you look the, watch
- 5:16Speaker 1: the old Law & Order reruns, she was pretty hot,
- 5:19Speaker 1: that Marissa Hargitay. If you look at her now, a little,
- 5:24Speaker 1: a little different nowadays, but still going strong. She's on
- 5:27Speaker 1: Law & Order. Anyway, let's go to Al in Yonkers. Al,
- 5:31Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 5:32Speaker 4: Good, Mark.
- 5:33Speaker 6: Mark, I want to say if you agree, you know,
- 5:35Speaker 6: in New York, when after 9-11, Mayor Giuliani could have
- 5:39Speaker 6: pushed the limit with term limits. But being an honorable
- 5:42Speaker 6: person that he is, he didn't. In Chicago, they don't
- 5:45Speaker 6: have term limits. And Mayor Brandon Johnson said he was
- 5:49Speaker 6: going to run again. And one of his predecessors, one
- 5:52Speaker 6: of the Daly sons, he served for way too long.
- 5:56Speaker 6: Don't you believe Chicago should have term limits for mayor?
- 5:59Speaker 1: Absolutely. I think everybody should have term limits. You know,
- 6:01Speaker 1: that was really Netanyahu's problem. You know, he's a great
- 6:04Speaker 1: leader and beloved. But then he became, they always say
- 6:07Speaker 1: when you get in your fourth term, you're always going
- 6:09Speaker 1: to get hated. It always happens. Ed Koch was a
- 6:12Speaker 1: great example. People loved him. But Koch said, once you
- 6:15Speaker 1: get into that third term, they start to turn on you.
- 6:17Speaker 1: And your fourth term, they hate you. It's just too much. Yeah, no, Giuliani,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I think he knew there was no way to get
- 6:25Speaker 1: a third term. It was impossible. Bloomberg was able to
- 6:27Speaker 1: pull it off because he was a billionaire with endless
- 6:31Speaker 1: money and resources. Spent a fortune to get himself another term.
- 6:35Speaker 1: But that was not easy to do. Let's go to...
- 6:39Speaker 1: Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how are you doing?
- 6:41Speaker 5: Good morning, Mark. Mark, thanks for bringing up the problem
- 6:44Speaker 5: of all these illegal street vendors. But even more importantly,
- 6:49Speaker 5: over here in Bay Ridge on 4th Avenue and 36th Street,
- 6:53Speaker 5: the subway line, which is a very big junction point.
- 6:57Speaker 5: There's a lot of connections over there. I've seen this
- 6:59Speaker 5: woman there several times. She has a fold-up table. She
- 7:04Speaker 5: has a fold-up table. She's a Mexican woman. And she's
- 7:07Speaker 5: selling pre-prepared food and drinks on the platform. And she's
- 7:12Speaker 5: doing a booming business. And when I saw it, she's unscathed.
- 7:18Speaker 5: I've never seen a police officer go over and question her.
- 7:22Speaker 5: you know, ask her for her food vendor's license. And
- 7:25Speaker 5: more importantly, like when you buy food off of a
- 7:28Speaker 5: food truck, they have a Department of, a Board of
- 7:32Speaker 5: Health inspection certificate. I'm saying to myself, who knows where
- 7:37Speaker 5: this food was prepared and what filthy rat and cockroach-infested
- 7:42Speaker 5: kitchen or cellar. I remember years ago, they did, they
- 7:47Speaker 5: posted a whole expose about some food trucks that that
- 7:51Speaker 5: were coming in from Jersey and going to Times Square
- 7:56Speaker 5: or Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, they were preparing the
- 8:00Speaker 5: food in these garages in Jersey.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That's a very good point. You really got to be careful.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Don't buy any food from any place like that. You're right.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's dangerous. Vincent, great call. We got to go do
- 8:12Speaker 1: the news because coming up next, Bruce Blakeman, the next
- 8:16Speaker 1: governor of New York, Bruce Blakeman. We'll talk to him.
- 8:19Speaker 1: We'll get the latest on the race coming up on 710WOR.
