- 0:30What is going on, everybody?
- 0:31Welcome to Sunday Night CrossFit Talk.
- 0:35I think I actually did that
- 0:36right this week for the
- 0:36first time in like two months.
- 0:38And you know why?
- 0:39Because Megan Bowman is in
- 0:41the chat live for the first time,
- 0:44and we need to make it a
- 0:44good experience for her.
- 0:46Welcome, Megan.
- 0:49If you haven't already liked, subscribed,
- 0:52and hit that notifier,
- 0:53make sure you do that right now.
- 0:56Took the words right out of my mouth.
- 0:58And, hey, we're doing a couple new things.
- 1:01We are taking listener
- 1:02questions of the week.
- 1:04We didn't get any last week.
- 1:07So you can either jump in
- 1:09the comments after this is done,
- 1:12leave your question there,
- 1:14or DM me on Instagram,
- 1:16and I'll try to put up a
- 1:17question on my story to
- 1:19give you a spot to do that as well.
- 1:21There's one there currently.
- 1:24And for next week,
- 1:25you can put your question in there,
- 1:27and we'll address that.
- 1:29The other thing we want to
- 1:30do is riff of the week.
- 1:33You know, Carolyn has had riffs.
- 1:34Jamie's had riffs.
- 1:36I've had riffs.
- 1:37We want to let you guys have riffs.
- 1:39If you have a riff that you
- 1:41want to talk about that's
- 1:42going on in the CrossFit space,
- 1:44which this week you all had
- 1:47lots of opportunity to riff
- 1:48about something because it
- 1:50was like every day something dropped.
- 1:53Just keep it under two minutes.
- 1:56Record it on your phone.
- 1:58Contact me.
- 1:59We'll find a way for you to drop it to us.
- 2:01And then we will share those
- 2:03if they are appropriate.
- 2:07So we want you to be a part of it.
- 2:09So cool.
- 2:11Sarah Cooper says happy
- 2:12Canada Day tomorrow.
- 2:15And since we are a Canadian podcast,
- 2:18we need to make sure that
- 2:19we celebrate Canada Day tomorrow.
- 2:22Yes.
- 2:23Before we jump into CrossFit News,
- 2:27I learned about this TV show on this show,
- 2:31and I binge-watched it.
- 2:33They just released all the
- 2:34episodes of Season 3 this last week.
- 2:38The Bear.
- 2:40Oh, my goodness.
- 2:43Seven episodes into Season 3 already.
- 2:47That is some binge watching.
- 2:49That is some, yeah.
- 2:50Well, this season three,
- 2:52the first seven episodes
- 2:53are 30 minutes or less.
- 2:56So that lends itself to quick.
- 2:59And then the last three are longer.
- 3:02So we stopped.
- 3:04Julie and I both watch it.
- 3:06We are just, man,
- 3:09I love that show so much.
- 3:12The first episode,
- 3:14there may be six lines in
- 3:15the entire episode,
- 3:17and it was so tense and so
- 3:19emotional and so jam-packed,
- 3:22and there were no words.
- 3:24And you're just riveted.
- 3:27The writer for that show is amazing.
- 3:30And I'm glad they won all
- 3:31the awards last year.
- 3:32They are phenomenal.
- 3:35Sarah, anytime.
- 3:37I love that you guys have the stickers.
- 3:39That's why we do them,
- 3:40so you guys can support the show.
- 3:43Thank you for being here all
- 3:44the time and supporting the show.
- 3:46Glad you got the stickers.
- 3:47And I learned how to ship to
- 3:49Canada small items for a
- 3:52very minimal cost.
- 3:54So that was really cool.
- 3:56Ever think that Canada is so
- 3:57expensive to ship?
- 3:59Yeah, if you keep it under an ounce,
- 4:02you can do it for $1.50.
- 4:03But yeah, so not too bad.
- 4:11Anybody else have anything
- 4:12before we jump into the CrossFit stuff?
- 4:19Nope.
- 4:20I was just trying to train our background.
- 4:23Okay.
- 4:25well carolyn almost got into
- 4:27a fight at the popcorn
- 4:28stand at the movies today
- 4:29but I'm not sure we're
- 4:30going to get into get into
- 4:32all that no the guy at the
- 4:35popcorn stand we're going
- 4:37to see um inside out and
- 4:39He was like to Lex, oh my gosh,
- 4:41your arms are so defined.
- 4:43I think he said it like five
- 4:44times and I was about to
- 4:45roll my sleeves up and be like, me too,
- 4:47me too.
- 4:50But no,
- 4:51he was very impressed by her
- 4:53physique as he kept saying.
- 4:55I was like, yeah, she works out.
- 4:57Oh, I had the wrong background up.
- 5:00Oh my gosh.
- 5:02jamie did it jamie did it on
- 5:03her own all right uh dryer
- 5:08dagger I wish jamie had an
- 5:09opinion on masters games
- 5:10apparel he had no thoughts
- 5:11on that at all uh kenneth
- 5:14says I love a good canadian
- 5:15scuffle and a sarah cooper
- 5:19said inside out was great I
- 5:21loved it I've been wanting
- 5:23to see it for a while so I
- 5:24was excited that I got to
- 5:25see it this weekend
- 5:28I've got to go see bad boys.
- 5:30That's,
- 5:30that's been like a movie from like
- 5:34college when the first one came out,
- 5:36my buddies and I all went to see that.
- 5:39And now like,
- 5:40even though the last one wasn't awesome,
- 5:42I want to go see this new
- 5:43one to see if it,
- 5:44if they redeemed themselves at all.
- 5:51Any update regarding media
- 5:55at the master's games?
- 5:57No.
- 5:58I was supposed to hear back
- 5:59by end of the week,
- 6:01so I will send a follow-up text tomorrow,
- 6:03and we'll find out then, hopefully.
- 6:06And then Lynn says,
- 6:08Jeremy Allen is so good in The Bear.
- 6:10He is.
- 6:11That whole cast is so good.
- 6:14So good.
- 6:16Scott, have you watched?
- 6:17I was told by a gym member yesterday,
- 6:21we were talking about things on Netflix,
- 6:23and he said he watched,
- 6:24I think it's Swimmer or Swimmers.
- 6:27he said it was spectacular
- 6:29it's about like two syrian
- 6:32sisters that are swimmers I
- 6:34have not okay yeah what I
- 6:39am watching is um missy
- 6:41franklin and katie katie
- 6:49dang it I knew I'd do this
- 6:51they're both former olympic
- 6:52swimmers they have a
- 6:54podcast called unfiltered water
- 6:57And I learned about it while
- 6:59I was at the Olympic trials.
- 7:01I've been watching it.
- 7:02They had Lindsey Vaughn on this week.
- 7:06They have a show every Wednesday.
- 7:08They had Lindsey Vaughn on.
- 7:10So good.
- 7:12So good about, like,
- 7:13expectations on people.
- 7:14And, like,
- 7:16when you hear Missy Franklin say, like,
- 7:17she didn't feel like she
- 7:18met expectations and she
- 7:20won five Olympic gold medals, you're like,
- 7:23what is –
- 7:24but it doesn't matter what
- 7:27we think her expectation is.
- 7:29It's what was like put on
- 7:30her or what she feels was.
- 7:34And Lindsay Vaughn had the
- 7:35same thing who felt she
- 7:37kept missing expectations
- 7:38because of injury.
- 7:40And if you followed her career,
- 7:42like knee injury after knee injury,
- 7:45bad crash after bad crash, um,
- 7:49really good stuff, really good stuff.
- 7:52Um,
- 7:53And I really thoroughly enjoy it.
- 7:55It's given me that flavor
- 7:56back into the swimming
- 7:57world that I wanted a little bit,
- 8:00but I'll check out that
- 8:01thing on Netflix as well.
- 8:05And then Andrew Sten said,
- 8:06if you want something to watch,
- 8:07check out Dark Matter on
- 8:08Apple TV Plus and The
- 8:10Gentleman on Netflix.
- 8:13I've seen The Gentleman.
- 8:14I haven't watched it,
- 8:15but I've seen that pop up.
- 8:18All right.
- 8:20Well,
- 8:20now that we're rolling with some
- 8:21people in the chat,
- 8:22Let's get into the news of the week.
- 8:27This one was the big one, I think.
- 8:29There's a lot of big ones this week,
- 8:30but Sean Woodland made the
- 8:32announcement on Instagram
- 8:35this week that he will not
- 8:37be calling the CrossFit
- 8:38Games for the first time in
- 8:41like 10 years.
- 8:43And more than, because what,
- 8:4412 is his first year?
- 8:452012 or 13?
- 8:48So it's been over 10 years or 10 years.
- 8:51So I know Carolyn had strong reactions.
- 8:54We talked via messenger this week.
- 8:58Carolyn,
- 8:59want to fill people in on what
- 9:00your thoughts are?
- 9:02Yeah.
- 9:02Great points.
- 9:04Yeah.
- 9:04I was just shocked.
- 9:06Like,
- 9:06like he's just been the voice of
- 9:07CrossFit and he's called so
- 9:09many of the biggest moments
- 9:10we've had in our sport.
- 9:11His voice is so recognizable
- 9:14within our sport.
- 9:15And I always found he did a
- 9:17really good job of just
- 9:19doing a background on the
- 9:21athletes and talking about the athletes.
- 9:25Like he always talked about
- 9:26like my athletic background.
- 9:28I know like he always talked
- 9:28about like pages,
- 9:29like athletic background and just like,
- 9:31so many of the athletes I
- 9:32get he was not only
- 9:34describing the event but he
- 9:36allowed us to um find out
- 9:39more about the athletes
- 9:40which I think is a big part
- 9:42of um you know what I
- 9:45remember from him doing it
- 9:46and but I mean like it's
- 9:48goodbye maybe for now but I
- 9:50i expect them to probably
- 9:51do rogue invitational um
- 9:54and you know hopefully come
- 9:56back um in the future with
- 9:59the crossfit games because
- 10:01I think he's the best.
- 10:05Jamie, any thoughts?
- 10:06Yeah, I mean, I think it's a travesty.
- 10:09I think when you turn on the
- 10:11broadcast and you hear his voice,
- 10:13you're immediately drawn.
- 10:14I think Chase and they're good,
- 10:20but there usually seems to
- 10:21be some controversy around
- 10:24him and why am I drawing a
- 10:26blank right now?
- 10:27Chase?
- 10:29Chase?
- 10:30Not, not chase, uh, Adrian, Adrian.
- 10:33Yes.
- 10:34Um,
- 10:35I've been really enjoying Adrian lately.
- 10:37Uh, and I like,
- 10:39I think he's a good addition.
- 10:40I just, I don't feel like you,
- 10:43it's just as weird to me,
- 10:44like what their thought process was.
- 10:45I can't,
- 10:46I can't imagine it's a money issue.
- 10:47I can't imagine he's like a
- 10:49hundred times more than any
- 10:51of these other guys.
- 10:52Like it just doesn't make sense.
- 10:57He plays by the rules.
- 10:58He's, you know, I don't know.
- 11:01It's just very strange.
- 11:05I don't think the man has
- 11:06ever caused controversy.
- 11:08No.
- 11:09The only thing ever talked
- 11:10about is like the Tia.
- 11:13And he was put in a bad
- 11:15place with that because
- 11:16Tia's camp put him in that place.
- 11:18Yeah.
- 11:19And what do you do, right?
- 11:20Yeah.
- 11:21Yeah,
- 11:21he was fed information and rolled
- 11:23with it.
- 11:23But yeah, I mean,
- 11:25just some of the lines that
- 11:26he would come up with on
- 11:27the spot was just incredible.
- 11:30It was awesome to hear his voice.
- 11:39So on a personal note,
- 11:40every time I've run into Sean,
- 11:42he has always been the kindest man ever.
- 11:48When I worked on the
- 11:49documentary crew at Rogue as a volunteer,
- 11:53we were stationed outside
- 11:55the booth where he was
- 11:57calling the Rogue Invitational.
- 12:00We rode down on the elevator.
- 12:02Always like a gentleman.
- 12:04We talked about other sports.
- 12:05We didn't even talk CrossFit.
- 12:07We were talking football and
- 12:08hockey and all that kind of stuff.
- 12:10And I really enjoyed my time.
- 12:12He was also one of the first 15 guests,
- 12:16maybe first 10 guests ever on this show.
- 12:19That's awesome.
- 12:20Before anybody knew who I even was,
- 12:23he took the time to spend
- 12:24an hour with us.
- 12:26I think it's like episode 13 or episode 12,
- 12:29something like that,
- 12:31that he came on the show.
- 12:33I think it's awesome.
- 12:34And I've told this story a million times.
- 12:36He was the local
- 12:37sportscaster when I lived in Tallahassee,
- 12:39Florida.
- 12:40So I saw him on TV when he
- 12:43was talking about Florida
- 12:44State football and Florida
- 12:46State baseball and all of
- 12:47that stuff back then.
- 12:49So it was cool that he then
- 12:51came into my world in the CrossFit space.
- 12:55But I do think this.
- 12:57I think his presence is
- 13:00going to be bigger now than it was.
- 13:03I think every other major
- 13:05event is going to do what
- 13:07they can to have him there.
- 13:08I agree.
- 13:10So I Roke has always hired him.
- 13:13He does strong man.
- 13:14He does all this stuff, right?
- 13:17What a Palooza Dubai.
- 13:19All those people are going
- 13:20to try to get Sean Woodland
- 13:21now because everybody,
- 13:23the demand is there.
- 13:25Yeah.
- 13:27And I think he's going to
- 13:28have a busy off season if
- 13:29he chooses to accept those positions.
- 13:33Which I feel like he would,
- 13:34like he loves covering CrossFit.
- 13:37So I would be shocked if he
- 13:38wasn't doing Rogue
- 13:39Invitational and going to Scotland.
- 13:42He's for sure doing that in my mind.
- 13:45Do we know who's calling Masters?
- 13:49I don't.
- 13:52Petition for Sean.
- 13:55It was Annie, Sean and Bill.
- 13:59three years ago at, in California.
- 14:03No.
- 14:04Well, maybe it may have too,
- 14:05but the one in California was Annie,
- 14:09Bill and, and Sean.
- 14:10Cause I had an,
- 14:11I actually walked up on the
- 14:13little stage I had and had
- 14:14an interview with them.
- 14:15That would be a great three.
- 14:17They were awesome.
- 14:18Yeah.
- 14:18That would be a great three.
- 14:20Yeah.
- 14:23Um, draw your daggers asking,
- 14:30I can't get this thing to work.
- 14:31Here we go.
- 14:32Why isn't Scott wearing the
- 14:33uniform like the rest of the gang?
- 14:34Yeah, Scott.
- 14:35Get it together.
- 14:37Actually,
- 14:38the temperature is down below 70 tonight.
- 14:40Oh, yeah.
- 14:41And my basement got really cold,
- 14:42so I had to go with the thick boy hoodie.
- 14:47My basement doesn't have much heat,
- 14:49so I go with... All right.
- 14:51So...
- 14:58I think we all miss Sean.
- 15:00I did see a post by him very
- 15:02recently that said,
- 15:04maybe it was a clip from their show,
- 15:06how much love he has felt.
- 15:09And he said,
- 15:09sometimes you have to have
- 15:10that in life to realize the
- 15:14effect you've had.
- 15:15And he said he always
- 15:17finishes every broadcast with like,
- 15:19I can't remember what it is exactly,
- 15:21but like be kind to one
- 15:23another or something to that effect.
- 15:26And he says that he wants to
- 15:28work harder at living by those words.
- 15:32Um,
- 15:33because of the love that was shown to
- 15:34him during, during this time.
- 15:38And I think that was pretty,
- 15:39pretty awesome.
- 15:40Yeah.
- 15:42It was really nice to read
- 15:43all the comments from Rory
- 15:46had a whole long paragraph,
- 15:48several paragraphs.
- 15:49That was,
- 15:49it was really cool to read some
- 15:50of that stuff.
- 15:52I couldn't believe the number of comments.
- 15:54I know.
- 15:56Like thousand.
- 15:57Yeah.
- 15:58Early,
- 15:58like six hours in like a thousand
- 16:01comments.
- 16:02Mm-hmm.
- 16:03Crazy.
- 16:05So, uh,
- 16:06another topic we wanted to talk
- 16:08about tonight was reps ahead.
- 16:10Uh, went down yesterday afternoon,
- 16:14last night, wherever you were in the,
- 16:17in the country.
- 16:17Um, and they actually had five matches, uh,
- 16:23two local matches, then three,
- 16:26three main events.
- 16:30No.
- 16:31One undercard.
- 16:33Two local matches.
- 16:35Jake Marconi and... Yep, that one.
- 16:38Malakai?
- 16:39Was that that one?
- 16:40Malakai and Jake?
- 16:41And then the three other matches.
- 16:44So six, yeah.
- 16:45Yeah.
- 16:47So...
- 16:49I wanted to put it in there.
- 16:50Carolyn beat me to the punch
- 16:51and put it on her notes.
- 16:54Her comment was,
- 16:55how do we like the format?
- 16:57So I have two comments about it.
- 17:01And there's a doodle.
- 17:04A doodle.
- 17:05With a head as big as Carolyn.
- 17:10Here.
- 17:12So...
- 17:14I watched every match for
- 17:15the first time and I will
- 17:17admit it's the first time I
- 17:18watched them all.
- 17:20I have two critical things,
- 17:22but overall I really
- 17:24enjoyed the broadcast and, uh, the,
- 17:28the format.
- 17:30So I want to hear from you
- 17:32and then I'll talk about the two things.
- 17:35Cause it's not overly critical.
- 17:36It's just small little tweaks.
- 17:38Yeah,
- 17:39I think I said this the last time
- 17:40they did the Rep's Head.
- 17:42I'm not a huge fan of the
- 17:45restarting at the top of
- 17:46the triplet or whatever it is.
- 17:49And I...
- 17:55I actually kind of wish this
- 17:56one would have gone more than the two,
- 17:58every single one was done
- 17:59in one or two rounds.
- 18:00And I wish some,
- 18:01some could have made it to the,
- 18:02to the third round at least.
- 18:05So I don't know.
- 18:06I don't know if it was the
- 18:07choice of the fastest low movement.
- 18:09What exactly got that hung up there?
- 18:12It.
- 18:13Yeah.
- 18:13I would have rather seen a
- 18:14couple go three more minutes.
- 18:18yeah I i agree with that one
- 18:20I remember like the other
- 18:22reps ahead like they almost
- 18:23went all the way to the
- 18:24length of yeah each round
- 18:26right yeah um yeah it's
- 18:29it's hard to predict uh
- 18:31like where they're gonna
- 18:31finish like last time they
- 18:32had double unders and it
- 18:34didn't seem to play as much
- 18:35like I thought those were
- 18:35just gonna accumulate super
- 18:37super fast and someone was
- 18:38gonna get ahead really really quickly
- 18:40And then this time,
- 18:41like if you got to the
- 18:42Chester bar and someone was
- 18:43getting fatigue on the barbell,
- 18:44like you're winning right away.
- 18:47But the concept is great.
- 18:50It's entertaining.
- 18:52You saw some really cool
- 18:53battles like Jake just
- 18:55tried to go for it and was
- 18:57running to the bar to try
- 18:58to get to the Chester bar.
- 18:59And then he just hit a wall, which was,
- 19:02you know,
- 19:02we've all been there before and it's.
- 19:04It's great to watch and just
- 19:06see how he was going to
- 19:07manage to hold on.
- 19:09And it was interesting to
- 19:11watch even like Paige versus Sydney.
- 19:14And they started with the
- 19:14step down and it almost
- 19:16looked like Sydney that in
- 19:17the second round wanted to
- 19:18catch her off guard and go.
- 19:22Hold on one second.
- 19:27Yeah, I think,
- 19:28I think the Marconi strategy
- 19:31was fun to watch.
- 19:33he was going to either win
- 19:34it in the first round or he
- 19:36was not going to win it.
- 19:37And that was his,
- 19:39that was his strategy right
- 19:40off the get-go.
- 19:42And he went all in.
- 19:43And when you go all in,
- 19:45sometimes you lose really big.
- 19:49Yeah.
- 19:50It was not surprising to me,
- 19:52but the being that we've
- 19:56all now been stepping down our box jumps,
- 19:59that was clearly the separator.
- 20:03In every single match,
- 20:03that was a separator.
- 20:05Huge separator.
- 20:06I want to talk about that
- 20:07after we talk about the
- 20:08format a little bit.
- 20:09Okay.
- 20:12So my two tweaks, and Carolyn,
- 20:14jump in if there's anything I miss,
- 20:16is one, any competition,
- 20:18I think the judge needs to
- 20:20be identified on the floor
- 20:22with either a hat, a shirt, or something.
- 20:26It just makes it look clunky
- 20:28when you have people in
- 20:30multiple different shirts
- 20:31all over the floor.
- 20:34And I know there was a judge
- 20:35running with each athlete,
- 20:37but they need to be in a
- 20:39dark shirt or something
- 20:40that signifies them as the
- 20:42authority on the floor.
- 20:44Some sort of uniform.
- 20:45Right.
- 20:46And it doesn't have to be big,
- 20:48just something that denotes
- 20:50they're the authority and
- 20:52they're running with the athlete.
- 20:54The other thing is...
- 20:57It became repetitive because
- 21:00of the slow to fast in the
- 21:03thruster to the chest to bar.
- 21:05And that's why they all seem
- 21:06to end the same way.
- 21:09The Jake one was a little
- 21:10bit different because of his strategy,
- 21:12but the others were all
- 21:13pretty much like this.
- 21:16One person got a little
- 21:17slower on the thruster.
- 21:18The other person hit the gas,
- 21:20got to the chest to bar,
- 21:22banged out as many as they
- 21:23could and won the match.
- 21:24Right.
- 21:25I just...
- 21:27And I think if I heard right,
- 21:30in the other reps ahead,
- 21:32there weren't many knockouts.
- 21:33They went the distance.
- 21:35Right.
- 21:36This one,
- 21:36they were all knockouts and they
- 21:38were all early.
- 21:39I think the pendulum just
- 21:40swung too far to the other side.
- 21:42And hopefully they figure
- 21:44out how to kind of get that
- 21:46pendulum more to the middle
- 21:48where you have a little bit of both.
- 21:50Yeah.
- 21:52And I do agree with you a
- 21:54little bit on that you have
- 21:56to start at the top.
- 21:57Because if you're a strong thruster person,
- 22:01you have the advantage
- 22:02because you're always going
- 22:03to get to start on your strength.
- 22:06Yeah.
- 22:08And I think that did make a
- 22:10difference for Sydney.
- 22:14For sure.
- 22:14Yeah.
- 22:15um and uh probably even kyra
- 22:20kyra's range of motion was
- 22:21so much smaller than
- 22:22kelly's that she made up
- 22:24that um yeah pretty quickly
- 22:30yeah I would say I mean I
- 22:32think they all kind of
- 22:33shook out about what I but
- 22:34I think like jamie said the
- 22:35box jumps were huge absolutely
- 22:42The Sydney one surprised me.
- 22:43I'll be honest.
- 22:45I thought Paige was going to beat Sydney.
- 22:47The rest of them kind of
- 22:48went how I thought.
- 22:50Sydney beating Paige was, I thought,
- 22:54a really cool thing to happen.
- 22:56That quickly surprised me.
- 22:58I wondered how much training
- 23:00Paige has been putting in.
- 23:04And she didn't seem to have
- 23:06that fire in her kind of
- 23:07even from the get-go.
- 23:08It almost looked like she
- 23:10was kind of just out there to have fun.
- 23:13But that rebounding spikes
- 23:16your heart rate immediately.
- 23:17So if you aren't practicing
- 23:18it and then you're going to thrusters,
- 23:20which spikes your heart rate immediately,
- 23:22like you're going to
- 23:23redline out the gate if
- 23:25that is not how you normally train.
- 23:29Okay, go ahead, Carolyn.
- 23:32It looked like she tried to
- 23:33match Sydney in the second
- 23:34round with the touch and go
- 23:37box jumps with like not the step down.
- 23:40And then she quickly
- 23:41resorted back to the step down.
- 23:43And it was just significantly slower.
- 23:45And once Sydney got to the
- 23:49to the chest of our like it
- 23:50was it was done.
- 23:50So I don't know if that's
- 23:53just like it wasn't worth
- 23:54it for her in the offseason to, you know,
- 23:57to push that.
- 23:58for her to go on like that
- 24:00touch and go and risk an injury.
- 24:02Um, it's almost like it would be, and,
- 24:05and the boys,
- 24:06and I think fee did that also in the last,
- 24:10um,
- 24:11reps ahead where they kind of made it
- 24:12where you couldn't rebound your,
- 24:14I think it was a hang power
- 24:15clean and you couldn't
- 24:16bounce it off your quads.
- 24:18Um, and just kind of make it fair game.
- 24:21Um, so I don't know if there was any,
- 24:22I mean,
- 24:23it looked like there wasn't like a,
- 24:24you know, between both of them,
- 24:26like a mutual agreement to be like, okay,
- 24:27let's,
- 24:28let's step down and then let's see
- 24:29who can win the race.
- 24:31Um,
- 24:32like people were doing both versions
- 24:34and it was just way slower to, to,
- 24:35to step down.
- 24:37It is.
- 24:40Aaron Frazier said,
- 24:41Sydney looked incredible,
- 24:42made me disappointed.
- 24:43She won't be at the games,
- 24:47but she's been training high rock.
- 24:48So we know she's been training.
- 24:51throughout this and she's
- 24:52doing like every comp she
- 24:54can according to her interview.
- 24:58Yeah.
- 24:59Um, so with the rebounding,
- 25:02there was a lot of talk
- 25:03last night that it, that it was,
- 25:05that there are people that
- 25:08feel that it should not be
- 25:09removed from the CrossFit
- 25:10game season and that it,
- 25:14and people aren't practicing
- 25:15it now because it has been removed.
- 25:17And so should it be
- 25:19something that you practice?
- 25:20Should it be added back in?
- 25:22Yeah,
- 25:24there you're never going to prevent
- 25:26every injury,
- 25:27but that does seem to cause
- 25:28a very common and devastating injury.
- 25:34Your thoughts.
- 25:39I mean, I like rebounding.
- 25:40I've done a lot of bounding
- 25:42my whole life with,
- 25:44um,
- 25:44the sports that I've done and type one.
- 25:46Oh, and I train a lot of, um,
- 25:47I don't know if you've seen
- 25:49like some of my training that I do.
- 25:50I do a lot of like single
- 25:51leg jumps and just repeated downing.
- 25:54So I don't know if I'm used to that.
- 25:56So I would like to see it to stay,
- 25:58to stay in,
- 25:58but I do know that there's a
- 25:59lot of injuries.
- 26:00Um, but we can't prevent like, it's hard.
- 26:03It's going to happen when
- 26:04it's going to happen.
- 26:04Like there was, I was watching, um,
- 26:06you know, the gymnastics this past
- 26:09weekend.
- 26:09I don't even know which day
- 26:10of the week it is now that
- 26:11I'm off for the summer.
- 26:12Um, but there was like two gymnasts that,
- 26:15you know, tore their Achilles this,
- 26:17this weekend, you know,
- 26:18at their Olympic trials.
- 26:19So like, it just, it's part of sports.
- 26:22It's unfortunate.
- 26:24Um, I'm not sure.
- 26:26Uh, I think maybe in the master's division,
- 26:28it's not necessary,
- 26:29but I think in the open division,
- 26:32let's go for it.
- 26:33That's, I don't know.
- 26:34Maybe I'm wrong thinking that.
- 26:36I mean, I just,
- 26:37I feel like it's sort of a
- 26:38self-preservation thing.
- 26:39Like you,
- 26:40you as an athlete have to make
- 26:42that choice.
- 26:42I, even if it was allowed,
- 26:44I would probably step down and sure.
- 26:47There's going to be events
- 26:48where that probably costs me,
- 26:51but I also think you, like,
- 26:53you see what that did to some people.
- 26:55So like, if it's a long enough workout,
- 26:58there's a risk reward to it in,
- 27:00in general,
- 27:01like just the cardio aspect of it.
- 27:03So, um,
- 27:06which sort of sucks.
- 27:07I wish this could have gone
- 27:08longer to see that,
- 27:09like that build up over
- 27:11time and what it did to
- 27:13some of these athletes that
- 27:14kept rebounding.
- 27:15That's where I,
- 27:16it sort of sucks for me
- 27:17that they only went like one round.
- 27:18Cause I would have liked to seen,
- 27:20could they even maintain that?
- 27:22But yeah,
- 27:23I don't know if it should be
- 27:24forced upon them to take it out.
- 27:26I think it should almost be your own.
- 27:28Like it's the same with the
- 27:29rope coming down the rope
- 27:30fast and how you come,
- 27:32if you want to jump down,
- 27:32like that's your own risk.
- 27:34Yeah.
- 27:37Aaron Fraser says,
- 27:38I think he's saying being
- 27:39durable is part of fitness.
- 27:41Yeah.
- 27:42And in one of the athlete
- 27:44interviews with Castro,
- 27:45one of the athletes said
- 27:46that you need to train durability.
- 27:49You need to know when your
- 27:51body needs rest.
- 27:53That is part of the game.
- 27:55Yep, it is.
- 27:58And I think you always...
- 28:02I think you always get the
- 28:04athlete's opinion is let us
- 28:06make the choice.
- 28:07Yeah.
- 28:08I think most people would lean that way.
- 28:12And that happens in the NFL
- 28:14all the time too.
- 28:14They try to legislate safety
- 28:17and the players are like, come on.
- 28:18Like it's, it's a game of collisions.
- 28:21People are going to get hurt.
- 28:25But the athlete always wants
- 28:28to make the decision themselves.
- 28:32So, okay.
- 28:33So now we're going back to
- 28:34the very beginning of the
- 28:35week and Don falls
- 28:36appearance on coffee pods and wads.
- 28:41I think this has been talked
- 28:42about to death all week,
- 28:44but I haven't had your
- 28:46opinions and I'd love to
- 28:48hear if you have any
- 28:49opinions about his take on
- 28:53my take,
- 28:55my sole take that I really take
- 28:56from this is the media
- 28:58thing that they are not
- 29:00putting out media.
- 29:02And then they're being
- 29:03critical of media on top of that.
- 29:06And I don't think you can
- 29:07have your cake and eat it too.
- 29:11Yeah.
- 29:12The whole outside company,
- 29:16like them not paying for
- 29:18this behind the scenes and
- 29:21it coming out whenever it's not like,
- 29:23is so strange to me it like
- 29:26like like they said it both
- 29:28said it like it was a good
- 29:29thing like they didn't even
- 29:30pay for it and I don't I
- 29:32don't think that's a good
- 29:33thing like so that didn't
- 29:37bug me that that part did
- 29:38not bother me that part
- 29:42Who cares if they put out a documentary?
- 29:45We have three behind the scenes.
- 29:47More than that.
- 29:48We have Craig Ritchie's.
- 29:50We have the Buttery Bros.
- 29:51We have Savan's.
- 29:52We have Mayhem's.
- 29:55If you want behind the scenes,
- 29:56we've got so much of it.
- 29:59Yeah,
- 29:59but did we need other people out
- 30:03there on the floor taking up space,
- 30:06taking up...
- 30:07like being in the way for
- 30:09something that probably the
- 30:10space doesn't even need.
- 30:11It's not even going to be
- 30:12distributed at a time that
- 30:14even makes sense.
- 30:16And I feel like part of the
- 30:18reason stuff isn't being
- 30:19put out is because they're
- 30:20relying on that or they're
- 30:21not sharing things because they're,
- 30:22they put their eggs in that
- 30:24basket and had they not
- 30:25even like gone down that road,
- 30:27maybe things like your
- 30:28interviews and some behind
- 30:30the scenes would have been
- 30:31shared and posted more.
- 30:37Yeah.
- 30:38I mean,
- 30:39they did share every episode of
- 30:40Savant's on their YouTube channel.
- 30:43So they did do that,
- 30:44and they didn't pay for that either.
- 30:47But they haven't shared
- 30:49hardly anything since.
- 30:51Right.
- 30:56Dry Your Dagger says,
- 30:57I'm just hoping they
- 30:58accidentally accept my
- 30:59MediaPass application
- 31:01because I don't think we get it.
- 31:05Yeah, I don't know.
- 31:06I...
- 31:07I bought my, for the first time ever,
- 31:09I bought my point ticket.
- 31:10Go ahead, Carolyn.
- 31:16If my internet's going,
- 31:19I don't know if my
- 31:19internet's going bad or not.
- 31:21Um, but I,
- 31:23like he talked about the media
- 31:24and obviously they can do
- 31:26better on YouTube and stuff like that.
- 31:28And I just feel like they
- 31:29keep saying that they could
- 31:30do more and like, they have these, like.
- 31:33little times during the year
- 31:34where you're like, Oh,
- 31:35I think something's happening.
- 31:36Like, you know,
- 31:37they're starting to post
- 31:38more and then it just stops.
- 31:39And it's just kind of that
- 31:40repetitive theme continuously.
- 31:42Like at one point you had
- 31:43like the magic of CrossFit
- 31:44where they were posting
- 31:45things on their Instagram
- 31:47and then it just kind of stopped.
- 31:48And like you were thinking
- 31:49that things were starting to go and yeah,
- 31:53it's the same,
- 31:54it's the same thing over and over.
- 31:56So they obviously know that
- 31:58the media is important,
- 31:59but there hasn't been significant change.
- 32:02That I've seen in the past few years.
- 32:07Yeah.
- 32:10Go ahead.
- 32:10Aaron Fraser says,
- 32:11why isn't the breaks at the
- 32:13games and semis full of
- 32:14affiliate commercials?
- 32:16I completely agree.
- 32:18In addition to that,
- 32:18I said this on my interview
- 32:20with Rudy and Lynette
- 32:22Berger this morning or this afternoon.
- 32:26Why didn't they put the
- 32:27Masters first and fill the breaks with
- 32:32reruns of the events during
- 32:34the games because someone
- 32:37was busy okay we don't have
- 32:44a yes yet so let's just
- 32:46let's just wait a week for
- 32:48that okay yeah I don't know
- 32:56it's just I've said this
- 32:57before I feel like don's
- 32:59just full of corporate
- 33:00speak and it's frustrating like
- 33:03it's just words and there's
- 33:05been no change and it's,
- 33:07it's incredibly frustrating.
- 33:10For the first time you, Jamie,
- 33:12you've been with me a long time.
- 33:14I have been a very staunch
- 33:15defender of Dawnfall.
- 33:17You have been patient and
- 33:20letting him have time.
- 33:21Yes.
- 33:22I felt like this interview
- 33:24this week was as
- 33:29tone deaf as I have heard in his time.
- 33:36Yeah.
- 33:40And I,
- 33:40and I hate to say I have truly been
- 33:43a strong supporter of him.
- 33:45You have.
- 33:47So have I,
- 33:48I like I've met him a few times
- 33:51and I thought like,
- 33:52I think he's super approachable.
- 33:55Um, like we've had great conversations.
- 34:00Every time I've talked to him,
- 34:01I felt like he's listening to me.
- 34:04And maybe that's why he's a CEO.
- 34:08But honestly,
- 34:10I feel like when you blame
- 34:15the lack of media on money...
- 34:19when there are 20 third
- 34:21party media people out
- 34:23producing you individually,
- 34:26not even as a group, individually,
- 34:2820 different media
- 34:29companies outperforming you
- 34:31and we have no budget here.
- 34:34Like there's nothing on our budget sheet.
- 34:37Correct.
- 34:38My wallet in my pocket.
- 34:40Yeah.
- 34:41That's it.
- 34:44And we put out more content
- 34:45than they do tenfold.
- 34:47Yep.
- 34:51that, that is so tone deaf.
- 34:54And I feel like every
- 34:56question that was asked of
- 34:57him was the same answer
- 34:59he's given in the past,
- 35:00but there's more evidence
- 35:03to the contrary now.
- 35:05And the answer isn't changing.
- 35:07Right.
- 35:10And I thought Pedro did a,
- 35:12a great job asking, you know,
- 35:13the right questions and he
- 35:15was trying to get certain answers.
- 35:17Um,
- 35:19Yeah.
- 35:19He was like, he interviews very well.
- 35:21Um,
- 35:22and we just weren't getting those
- 35:24specifics that we want to hear.
- 35:27He is so good at casually
- 35:29answering a asking
- 35:30questions that are very hard to ask,
- 35:34but making it sound like
- 35:36you're just sitting at the
- 35:36dining room table, having a chat.
- 35:40And I applaud him.
- 35:41He did a, he did an amazing job with that.
- 35:44Yes.
- 35:44Good stuff.
- 35:46Yeah.
- 35:46Good stuff.
- 35:47Good stuff.
- 35:52Denise Moore asks,
- 35:54does it feel a bit sleight of hand?
- 35:57It does.
- 35:58Or how much control does he really have?
- 36:04Is,
- 36:04is he just the voice box for this group
- 36:08that we never see?
- 36:13Yeah, I don't know.
- 36:14And I, I, I think that's a cop out too,
- 36:19though.
- 36:19Like I,
- 36:23To say like,
- 36:25it is the same with Rosa after a while,
- 36:27right?
- 36:27Like people are like, well,
- 36:28there's a board.
- 36:29He's not really in control.
- 36:30Like, well, I mean,
- 36:34maybe he shouldn't even be
- 36:35speaking for the board then.
- 36:38Like, I don't know.
- 36:38Like, it's just,
- 36:39it's just not a good look.
- 36:43Aaron Frazier, $49.99.
- 36:44Thank you.
- 36:45Thank you for your work and great content.
- 36:48Thank you, Aaron.
- 36:49Thank you.
- 36:50Thank you.
- 36:51We couldn't do it without
- 36:52the support of this audience.
- 36:54Thank you, Aaron.
- 37:01Yeah.
- 37:02I think we've,
- 37:03we've beat this horse to
- 37:04death and it's been beaten down all week,
- 37:06but I wanted you guys to
- 37:07have your platform to give that opinion.
- 37:11When he,
- 37:12when he talked about Hiller though,
- 37:14like I understand where he's coming from.
- 37:16Like there's a, Hiller has a way of,
- 37:20you know critiquing the
- 37:21company or critiquing
- 37:22members of um you know
- 37:26crossfit and going directly
- 37:28attacking at them while his
- 37:30points can be um great
- 37:33sometimes sometimes I don't
- 37:35agree with what he says
- 37:36there are moments where he
- 37:38directly attacks people and
- 37:41like he he's like you know
- 37:42you can critique things or
- 37:44whatever but don't critique
- 37:45specifically you know like that like
- 37:48you know,
- 37:49a person that's not asking for it
- 37:50or whatever.
- 37:52And like,
- 37:52I understand where he's coming from for,
- 37:54you know,
- 37:54that part of protecting his employees and,
- 37:57um, and stuff like that.
- 37:58Like I, you can't fault him for, you know,
- 38:01protecting the family.
- 38:03That's my opinion.
- 38:04Here's my only issue with it.
- 38:05There are,
- 38:06there are things that Hiller
- 38:07says I don't agree with.
- 38:08Right.
- 38:10But here, here's the thing.
- 38:14Don't lash out at Hiller on a podcast.
- 38:19that is not professional.
- 38:21It's not the way a
- 38:22professional organization
- 38:23responds to things like that.
- 38:26Have a reach out to Hiller privately,
- 38:30have a conversation like,
- 38:33and then sit at a table and
- 38:35have the discussion back
- 38:36and forth where maybe you
- 38:38can come to some commonality.
- 38:41I agree with that.
- 38:42I think there's discussions
- 38:43that they could have with him,
- 38:45have his input, um,
- 38:48ask, you know, what,
- 38:48what they can do better and
- 38:49just have like an actual
- 38:51adult conversation without
- 38:52everything going to YouTube.
- 38:55But I mean,
- 38:55that's how Hiller will make his,
- 38:57his money and grasp his, his audience.
- 39:00But that conversation needs
- 39:01to happen between CrossFit and him,
- 39:02right?
- 39:03Like it,
- 39:04it could get things better and
- 39:06it's not happening for whatever reason.
- 39:08They've kind of, you know,
- 39:11put a stop to any kind of
- 39:13conversation with him or, you know, just,
- 39:15don't want to share any of his stuff,
- 39:16even though some of it is great.
- 39:18Yeah.
- 39:21Like they could totally talk more.
- 39:23Well, I think that,
- 39:24I think that's it exactly is they,
- 39:27they've made it very clear that they,
- 39:29they don't want to talk to
- 39:30him and they don't want,
- 39:32They aren't even ingesting his stuff.
- 39:35Like that's frustrating when they're like,
- 39:38well, he's just abrasive.
- 39:39He just attacks people.
- 39:40He's like,
- 39:41you just don't like him and you
- 39:43aren't listening to him.
- 39:45And that's the bottom line
- 39:46because he is saying he,
- 39:48he does have constructive criticism.
- 39:51You are offended by things he say.
- 39:54And that's on you.
- 39:56Not like he doesn't normally
- 39:59say things that aren't,
- 40:02straight facts or said from
- 40:03someone else's mouth.
- 40:04So you're interpreting it
- 40:07how you want to interpret it.
- 40:09I don't know.
- 40:09I still think that there's
- 40:10some personal where he goes, you know,
- 40:13he continues to, to go at, you know,
- 40:17specific people when he could like,
- 40:18just get his point out in a different way,
- 40:20but it doesn't get the views and it's,
- 40:23you know,
- 40:23it doesn't get the people going
- 40:25the same way.
- 40:27But yeah.
- 40:30So Vi says, to be fair,
- 40:31he didn't go directly for Hiller.
- 40:32Peter asked him if he was
- 40:34alluding to Hiller,
- 40:35and he said something like, yes,
- 40:36him and others.
- 40:38Completely agree with that.
- 40:39Yeah, I agree with that.
- 40:42I just don't think they're
- 40:43consuming enough of his
- 40:46content to say that it's all bad.
- 40:51Which is a mistake because
- 40:53his reach is so big and you
- 40:56should have someone on your
- 40:57staff watching every single
- 40:58one of the videos and
- 40:59bringing back that
- 41:00information across it and
- 41:01having discussions.
- 41:02Is he right?
- 41:03What, you know, or do we agree,
- 41:05disagree or whatever, but yeah.
- 41:08Everybody's videos.
- 41:11Absolutely.
- 41:11Not just him.
- 41:12Everyone's everybody's
- 41:13because if it's good content, share it.
- 41:16Yes.
- 41:17If it's something you need
- 41:18to address internally and
- 41:19address it and then find
- 41:21out how to handle whatever it is.
- 41:24Maybe you need clarification.
- 41:25So to speak to Lex.
- 41:27Yeah.
- 41:28But what gives him the credentials?
- 41:29They owe him a conversation.
- 41:31I didn't say they owe him a conversation.
- 41:33I think it behooves them to
- 41:35have a conversation with him.
- 41:38One, to dampen the fire.
- 41:40Two,
- 41:40to find out clarifications as to what
- 41:44he's talking about.
- 41:45And maybe you can build a
- 41:49bridge over that
- 41:49miscommunication or
- 41:51understand what he's saying
- 41:52better that you can address that issue.
- 42:00Yeah,
- 42:00there should be someone dedicated to
- 42:02watching content.
- 42:04We do that for this show.
- 42:06Right.
- 42:07So that we can have these discussions.
- 42:10Yeah,
- 42:10because they should be like they
- 42:12should know what kind of
- 42:13conversations are in the space,
- 42:15whether they're they're reading Reddit or,
- 42:17you know, on YouTube or Instagram,
- 42:19like they should be aware
- 42:21of people's opinions.
- 42:23Now,
- 42:24a lot of times it's the same group of
- 42:26people on a lot of these
- 42:27podcasts and they can have
- 42:28a certain view that's very
- 42:30skewed in our community and
- 42:32maybe not reflective of
- 42:33everyone because you do see that.
- 42:37within some of the podcasts,
- 42:38but in general,
- 42:39like they should be
- 42:40watching every one of the videos.
- 42:42And, um,
- 42:43that's why I think not that they
- 42:45owe him a talk,
- 42:46but I think it would be in
- 42:47their best interest to have
- 42:49conversations with him.
- 42:50And, um, they don't owe him anything.
- 42:54No, nobody owes anything, anybody,
- 42:56anything at all.
- 42:58I'm just, I think in their best interest,
- 43:00they should, um,
- 43:03Sarah Cooper says they
- 43:04should pay me to do that.
- 43:05I watch all the content.
- 43:08Agreed.
- 43:09Agreed.
- 43:14I mean,
- 43:15I think they're poking the bear at
- 43:16this point and he's just
- 43:17going to keep playing.
- 43:19I think that's the problem.
- 43:21They're just making him angrier.
- 43:24Because while Peter's the
- 43:26one that brought up
- 43:26Hiller's name and Dave's Week in Review,
- 43:28which is our next topic,
- 43:30Dave brought up Hiller
- 43:32specifically and went after
- 43:33him for the same thing
- 43:35about personal attacks.
- 43:38And I am not condoning personal attacks.
- 43:42Again,
- 43:42I think that Hiller has a lot of
- 43:45good that comes out,
- 43:46but he also has some things
- 43:48I don't agree with.
- 43:51But I don't always
- 43:52understand what he's
- 43:53totally talking about either.
- 43:55And sometimes I need
- 43:57clarification as to what he's saying.
- 43:58Well,
- 44:00I think that there's been attacks on
- 44:01different communities
- 44:02within our community.
- 44:05From Hiller?
- 44:07Yes,
- 44:07there's been attacks on LGBTQ posts as
- 44:13of late.
- 44:13There's been just different
- 44:17comments and stuff like
- 44:18that that I don't agree with.
- 44:21I still think that there's
- 44:21been attacks on a lot of
- 44:23members of CrossFit while
- 44:25he's making his points that
- 44:27could be valid in certain
- 44:29people's eyes or not in others.
- 44:31There are attacks, I think,
- 44:33where I'm uncomfortable sometimes
- 44:36watching or consuming some
- 44:38of the content because I'm
- 44:39putting myself in people's
- 44:41you know having empathy
- 44:42towards certain individuals
- 44:44and there's just like a
- 44:44different way that you
- 44:45could approach certain um
- 44:49like there's certain uh
- 44:51topics or uh that you want
- 44:52to bring up without going
- 44:54you know directly that way
- 44:57yeah so so with that I i
- 45:03did want to talk a little
- 45:04bit about dave's week in review
- 45:07Because last week we did
- 45:08have a conversation about, well,
- 45:12let's finish it up.
- 45:12So he did go back after
- 45:13Hiller because of the,
- 45:15and I can't remember her name.
- 45:16Annette Revis.
- 45:18Annette Revis.
- 45:19Yes.
- 45:20Specifically, Dave did name that attack,
- 45:24that person, and Hiller all in the same.
- 45:29He didn't attack her.
- 45:33I mean,
- 45:33you may feel like he kept playing
- 45:35her statements and kept
- 45:36pointing things out,
- 45:37and you may feel like that's attack,
- 45:38but all he's doing is
- 45:40taking things that she put
- 45:41into public and highlighting it.
- 45:45So, like,
- 45:46and it's... It's not really our
- 45:52place to be offended for her.
- 45:54Like, you're choosing to be offended.
- 46:01If I am...
- 46:03if I am her,
- 46:04I probably feel like I'm attacked.
- 46:07Absolutely.
- 46:08And sometimes the biggest
- 46:10problem isn't necessarily
- 46:11with like Hiller himself.
- 46:13Like it's, he incites different people,
- 46:16like within his,
- 46:17it's the comments that gets
- 46:19out of hand sometimes
- 46:21within like the different
- 46:22posts or whatever,
- 46:23like those can get ugly sometimes.
- 46:28But like, I would feel attacked if I'm,
- 46:30if I was that lady.
- 46:38I don't know.
- 46:39I, I mean, I,
- 46:42I I'm assuming she probably
- 46:44does feel attacked, but that's her.
- 46:46That seems to me watching her,
- 46:48watching her words,
- 46:49that seems to be her
- 46:52identity is feeling attacked.
- 46:55So yes, I'm, I'm sure she feels attacked.
- 47:01Yeah.
- 47:03So
- 47:07So I think Carolyn's
- 47:10clarification on the LGBTQ
- 47:12stuff is in the comments.
- 47:16There, there,
- 47:17and there was a post made a
- 47:19week and a half ago and the
- 47:21comments were horrible to read,
- 47:26horrible to read.
- 47:27That's not Hiller though.
- 47:28But that's what I'm saying.
- 47:29It's no,
- 47:29but he's posting something to draw
- 47:31attention in our community
- 47:33and talking about the pronouns and stuff.
- 47:35And it, and it,
- 47:36it was bad in the comments.
- 47:38Um,
- 47:39and it's disappointing as an athlete
- 47:41within that community, just like,
- 47:42even though some of it
- 47:43might not be towards me or just, you know,
- 47:44other ones are my friends
- 47:46and you're reading some of
- 47:47the comments from people in
- 47:48our community and whether
- 47:49it's athletes liking the
- 47:50post or writing within things,
- 47:53it's hurtful because it's
- 47:55people that I care about and it's just,
- 47:58yeah, it gets ugly in the comments.
- 48:01And that might not be his intention,
- 48:04but that's what came out of it.
- 48:05And I just think that
- 48:06there's some posts that are
- 48:07unnecessary to do,
- 48:10and there's better things
- 48:11to talk about and more
- 48:12important things to talk
- 48:13about within our space than
- 48:15to bring certain things up
- 48:17that just creates a divide
- 48:18within our community for no reason.
- 48:20Like this community is more inclusive,
- 48:24than any other community
- 48:25that I've ever been a part of.
- 48:26I mean, women's hockey is pretty,
- 48:29it's pretty inclusive, you know,
- 48:31and it is like, like I'm very proud to be,
- 48:35you know,
- 48:35a part of this CrossFit
- 48:36community and it just,
- 48:38it's disappointing and
- 48:39hurtful when you see some
- 48:40of the comments and it just
- 48:42gets spread like horrible.
- 48:44So that's,
- 48:46you're alluding to the one that
- 48:47I was talking about, Scott.
- 48:52so, and I, and I,
- 48:54and I don't read a lot of comments.
- 48:55That's not something that I generally do.
- 48:57So I,
- 48:58I'm not aware of those when they happen,
- 49:00but it was,
- 49:02Karen and I had a discussion
- 49:03about it last week.
- 49:04And I know that that happened there.
- 49:06So I just wanted to clarify, no,
- 49:09it wasn't Hiller's words.
- 49:10It was in the comments, but
- 49:14it gets,
- 49:15I'm sure if you're part of that community,
- 49:18it does get very hard to read.
- 49:21And again,
- 49:21I don't read comments generally
- 49:24on anything.
- 49:25So I didn't see what exactly was said,
- 49:29but I can go back and look at that.
- 49:35So the other thing I wanted
- 49:37to bring up with Dave is we
- 49:39talked about it last week
- 49:40and him trying to interview
- 49:41all 80 athletes.
- 49:44And I said on this show that
- 49:46he wasn't going to get more
- 49:47than 18 of the 80.
- 49:49I think he's going to get you there.
- 49:52He's going to get me there.
- 49:53I'm pretty sure.
- 49:54Because he was banging out a
- 49:56bunch this weekend.
- 49:58And I'm trying to keep up, but it's tough.
- 50:02The other thing I said is I
- 50:03felt like it was a conflict of interest.
- 50:06And I may be softening on
- 50:07that stance a little bit,
- 50:10watching how they're playing out.
- 50:15Because it is a fact.
- 50:18He did not know most of the
- 50:19athletes that were
- 50:20competing at the CrossFit Games.
- 50:25He is not aware of times
- 50:29when what the people were
- 50:31strong or weak at, anything.
- 50:34And I don't think a
- 50:3510-minute interview is
- 50:37going to all of a sudden make him think,
- 50:40well,
- 50:41I like this person and they said
- 50:42they were strong in this.
- 50:45I don't think he's going to
- 50:46retain that much stuff.
- 50:49The other thing I'm going to
- 50:49say is I have really
- 50:51thoroughly enjoyed them
- 50:53because he doesn't know who they are.
- 50:57And the questions he's
- 50:58asking seem to be very rudimentary,
- 51:06but they are actually very endearing.
- 51:10And if you're new to CrossFit...
- 51:13they're a great thing to
- 51:14kind of learn about the
- 51:15athletes because they are a
- 51:17quick hit 10 to 13 minutes
- 51:20of basic information about
- 51:22this athlete and maybe a
- 51:24fun story or two.
- 51:25Yeah.
- 51:29Yeah.
- 51:29I've enjoyed listening to them.
- 51:32I think he's,
- 51:33they're getting better and
- 51:34better as he's done more of them.
- 51:37And at first with like, with the first one,
- 51:39I thought it was going to
- 51:40be more of a conflict of interest.
- 51:42Same as you.
- 51:43And,
- 51:43I think he's actually
- 51:44learning more about the
- 51:45athletes now and asking
- 51:46different questions than
- 51:47just what are your
- 51:48strengths and weaknesses
- 51:49and what do you want to see at the games?
- 51:50What do you not want to see at the games?
- 51:51I think he's kind of staying
- 51:52more away from that.
- 51:54And I've learned more things
- 51:56about the athletes in the
- 51:56last little bit.
- 51:58So I think it's been fine
- 52:00now and I don't know,
- 52:01I think he's going to get almost all 80.
- 52:04Do you think,
- 52:06I know we had heard that
- 52:07there were some athletes
- 52:08who didn't want to do it.
- 52:09Do you think some are changing their mind?
- 52:15I don't know.
- 52:15I'm not sure.
- 52:16I, uh,
- 52:19I think there are probably going to
- 52:20be people that don't do it.
- 52:23And he says like, listen,
- 52:24the only ones of the 80 I'm
- 52:25not getting are people that
- 52:27tell me they don't want to do it.
- 52:28Right.
- 52:29Right.
- 52:29I'm guessing someone has
- 52:30said that already.
- 52:32Yeah.
- 52:34Uh, but so with that,
- 52:39I'm with you, Carolyn.
- 52:40I think the athletes he knew better,
- 52:42he was asking the strengths
- 52:44and weaknesses to kind of
- 52:45poke at them more than try
- 52:47to learn something.
- 52:49Yeah.
- 52:49Like see if they would
- 52:50actually answer or be
- 52:52willing to tell him that.
- 52:54And as he's getting into the athletes,
- 52:56he doesn't know he's not poking at them.
- 52:58He's really just trying to
- 52:59learn like how they got there.
- 53:01Great.
- 53:07I see everybody saying the
- 53:08Ruan interview was really great.
- 53:12I thought it was too.
- 53:13And he was very forthright.
- 53:15The Cole Sager one was
- 53:16really doggone good.
- 53:17I haven't seen that one.
- 53:24It was almost like two
- 53:27highly educated people in
- 53:29their field having a
- 53:31conversation about how
- 53:33things should be done.
- 53:35And as a person of faith myself at the end,
- 53:38Dave was asking questions
- 53:40about Cole's faith.
- 53:43Um,
- 53:45after reading the Bible and wanting to
- 53:47talk to Cole more, not in this setting,
- 53:50but maybe getting together
- 53:51at the games or another
- 53:53place where they could discuss more.
- 53:55Wow.
- 53:55And I could not believe I
- 53:57was actually hearing that.
- 54:01Yeah.
- 54:01I noticed that at the end,
- 54:02like it was like,
- 54:03we'll talk more about it.
- 54:04Um,
- 54:05like at the games or somewhere.
- 54:07That's cool.
- 54:10And, and Cole was really good about like,
- 54:13just being around for so
- 54:17long and trying to figure
- 54:18out like how to train
- 54:20during this time of the year.
- 54:23They, they've all been really good.
- 54:24Brandon, Brandon's was great.
- 54:26James's was great.
- 54:28Uh,
- 54:32I think all that was,
- 54:33I've enjoyed all of it.
- 54:35Jason Hoppers was great.
- 54:38Started out a mess.
- 54:39Typical.
- 54:40Typical Hopper.
- 54:43Yeah.
- 54:43Lost internet connection.
- 54:45Yeah.
- 54:47Yeah, Dallins was great.
- 54:48Like, they all, Saxon,
- 54:50Saxon asking the question,
- 54:52and I thought this was one
- 54:54of the best nuggets.
- 54:55To win the money at the CrossFit Games,
- 54:57should you have your L1?
- 54:58Hmm.
- 55:03And, and Saxon believes that you should,
- 55:06Dave said he thinks you should,
- 55:07but they're never going to
- 55:08go to that because it just isn't fair,
- 55:10but it brings up a,
- 55:12like a point of
- 55:13reconnecting the community
- 55:15with the athletes.
- 55:18Yeah.
- 55:21Which Saxon has been pushing.
- 55:22I mean, caught that in some of his media.
- 55:24Yeah.
- 55:25Yeah.
- 55:27So really good stuff and
- 55:30really turned me around this week.
- 55:35That's it.
- 55:35Same here.
- 55:37Everybody's asking him one question,
- 55:39right?
- 55:41Most of them are saying,
- 55:41what are you most excited about?
- 55:43And every time he answers, the venue.
- 55:45I know.
- 55:47Yeah.
- 55:47Let's come up with something else, guys.
- 55:54Someone asked something different today,
- 55:55though.
- 55:56I forget what it was.
- 55:58Maybe it was Cole that asked
- 55:59something different.
- 56:01It wasn't that question
- 56:02about what are you most excited about.
- 56:04I have to think about what it was.
- 56:05A couple people asked how he
- 56:07comes up with his themes.
- 56:09Yeah.
- 56:09Maybe that's why.
- 56:11Yeah.
- 56:15So.
- 56:17They're getting better,
- 56:19and I'm enjoying them a lot.
- 56:22Yeah.
- 56:22Yeah.
- 56:23But really, I hope he gets to all of them,
- 56:26and I hope everybody does it.
- 56:28It's funny, though.
- 56:29As he started,
- 56:30they were truly like eight
- 56:31to nine minutes.
- 56:32And as he's going,
- 56:33they're getting a little
- 56:34tiny bit longer each time,
- 56:36where we're at like 13 to 14 minutes now.
- 56:40And this started as a five
- 56:41to 10-minute thing.
- 56:45And I think Dallin, was it Dallin?
- 56:46No, Saxon.
- 56:47He was trying to board a plane,
- 56:49and Saxon didn't want to let him go.
- 56:54That sounds about right.
- 56:55They're talkers.
- 56:58Yeah.
- 56:59So a quick hitter that we
- 57:01wanted to talk about just quick,
- 57:03because we don't have a lot
- 57:04of details right now,
- 57:06is the Pitt Mentorship Program.
- 57:09The Pitt Fitness Ranch and
- 57:12the CrossFit Games for the
- 57:13Teen Division set up a
- 57:15mentorship program.
- 57:17And the mentors for this
- 57:18program are our very own Carolyn Prevost,
- 57:22Ty Jenkins, Ariel Loewen, Pat,
- 57:27James Sprague, Noah, Saxon, Spencer,
- 57:33Paige Semenza, Tim Paulson,
- 57:36Matthew Rattay, Alex Kazan, Alexis Raptus,
- 57:39Carly Matthews, Dallin Pepper,
- 57:41Griffin Rall, and Con Porter.
- 57:44So these are some amazing
- 57:46high-level elite athletes.
- 57:49pouring into the teen
- 57:50division that we have now.
- 57:53And you had your welcome call, right,
- 57:55Carolyn?
- 57:57It wasn't a call yet.
- 57:58I think we'll have to set
- 57:59something up in the next week or two,
- 58:01which will be hard to
- 58:02coordinate because there's
- 58:03different time zones and
- 58:04everything like that.
- 58:04So it's just kind of meeting them.
- 58:06I'm working specifically with Ty Jenkins.
- 58:10And we've got,
- 58:11I think they're all girls in the 14, 15,
- 58:15I think one 16 to 17-year-old
- 58:19um, yeah,
- 58:20so just learning a lot about them.
- 58:22Uh,
- 58:22a lot of them have gymnastics
- 58:24background and found CrossFit through, um,
- 58:28their family that was doing it and, um,
- 58:31have a lot of them have
- 58:33specialized now in CrossFit, um,
- 58:36where they're,
- 58:37they're focused solely on that,
- 58:38which is interesting
- 58:38because me and Ty both come
- 58:40from four sport backgrounds of, you know,
- 58:44doing CrossFit with other sports.
- 58:46So I think that's something
- 58:47that we'll try to talk to them about,
- 58:50you know,
- 58:51whether it's during the rest day
- 58:52or after the games, exploring, you know,
- 58:54different activities just
- 58:55to find a balance within
- 58:58their training and that style,
- 59:01which can be very difficult.
- 59:03And especially coming from gymnastics,
- 59:04which is a very perfectionist sport,
- 59:07right?
- 59:08It can be very hard on
- 59:09yourself as an athlete when
- 59:10you continue in another
- 59:11individualized sport with
- 59:13the standards and the
- 59:14pressure of CrossFit.
- 59:15So I think just, you know,
- 59:16exploring whether it's just
- 59:17recreationally or, or doing other,
- 59:20other sports could be,
- 59:21I think beneficial to this
- 59:23group that I'm particularly mentoring.
- 59:28I want to ask one quick follow-up to this.
- 59:31When you,
- 59:32when we watched the Cole
- 59:33interview with Dave,
- 59:34that's the one question
- 59:35that was different too,
- 59:36where is he looking for
- 59:39that division one athlete who,
- 59:41to jump into CrossFit and be
- 59:43able to be good.
- 59:45And Dave's response was that
- 59:47used to be his hope that
- 59:49like someone from another
- 59:50sport could come in and do well.
- 59:52Now he hopes that the teen
- 59:55division that they've built
- 59:57produces the best athletes.
- 1:00:01If you had,
- 1:00:02if you had three minutes with Dave,
- 1:00:05would you plead with him that,
- 1:00:08that the athletes needed to
- 1:00:10play other sports as well?
- 1:00:12Yes,
- 1:00:13I will always think that CrossFit is a
- 1:00:18great way to train for
- 1:00:19their sport and supplement their training,
- 1:00:24whether they're playing volleyball,
- 1:00:27basketball, hockey,
- 1:00:28whatever sport that they're doing.
- 1:00:29I think CrossFit is a great
- 1:00:30way to help out their sport.
- 1:00:33And it's always going to be there.
- 1:00:35I think, I mean,
- 1:00:36it's not like they're that
- 1:00:37young specializing.
- 1:00:38Like in high school,
- 1:00:39you start seeing specialized
- 1:00:41um athletes in different
- 1:00:42sports so I don't think
- 1:00:44it's the end of the world
- 1:00:45that some of them are
- 1:00:46specializing but I do think
- 1:00:47that there's benefit to
- 1:00:48doing other things uh
- 1:00:50whether it's you know
- 1:00:52socially um playing team
- 1:00:54sports or just learning
- 1:00:56from different coaches or
- 1:00:58being more adaptable in
- 1:01:00life I think there's a lot
- 1:01:01of benefits to to just
- 1:01:03doing other things than
- 1:01:04just putting all your eggs
- 1:01:06in one basket and the thing
- 1:01:08with crossfit is
- 1:01:10there's no scholarship, right?
- 1:01:12So like I had my whole
- 1:01:14education paid for with a
- 1:01:16full ride in hockey.
- 1:01:17And, you know,
- 1:01:18when these athletes are
- 1:01:19quitting everything and
- 1:01:21going all in on CrossFit, a lot of times,
- 1:01:24you know,
- 1:01:24they're pushing back going to university.
- 1:01:26They're trying to make that
- 1:01:27jump from the teenagers to
- 1:01:29the CrossFit games.
- 1:01:29And very few people have
- 1:01:31been able to do that jump pretty quickly,
- 1:01:35right?
- 1:01:35Like you've seen,
- 1:01:36The Emma Carries, the Mal O'Briens,
- 1:01:38the Emma Lawsons, the Olivia.
- 1:01:40And now you're seeing James
- 1:01:41and Dallin and I could go on.
- 1:01:44There's a few others like
- 1:01:44Tudor that are coming from
- 1:01:46the teen programs.
- 1:01:48But I think, you know,
- 1:01:50getting that education paid
- 1:01:51for was awesome.
- 1:01:54And if I could have done
- 1:01:55CrossFit to help me for hockey,
- 1:01:57I would like I wish I could
- 1:01:58have done that.
- 1:02:00But I always think being an athlete,
- 1:02:03there's very, very,
- 1:02:04very few people that will
- 1:02:05make a career out of CrossFit.
- 1:02:09Draw your dagger.
- 1:02:10You can't jump into CrossFit
- 1:02:11now and be competitive right away,
- 1:02:13no matter how good of an athlete you are.
- 1:02:18Do you think – I mean,
- 1:02:20do you think that's a
- 1:02:21problem that we've promoted
- 1:02:24this teen games to this level?
- 1:02:27Like, is it a –
- 1:02:31does it need to be something
- 1:02:32a little bit different?
- 1:02:33Like, like more like seeing things like,
- 1:02:37like the combine type
- 1:02:38testing or like the softball toss,
- 1:02:40like trying to throw in
- 1:02:42specific sport elements
- 1:02:43into this to actually get like,
- 1:02:45not make it so CrossFitty like,
- 1:02:49should we transform the
- 1:02:50team games aspect?
- 1:02:51So it isn't like,
- 1:02:52we're just throwing you into the games.
- 1:02:55I don't think they need to, um,
- 1:03:00Yeah, I don't know for that.
- 1:03:03I mean,
- 1:03:03if you're going into CrossFit games
- 1:03:07as a teen,
- 1:03:08you're just specializing in
- 1:03:09CrossFit if you want to get good at it.
- 1:03:10I mean,
- 1:03:11I'm sure there's some that are
- 1:03:12doing other sports,
- 1:03:13but you are seeing more and
- 1:03:15more people focus only on CrossFit.
- 1:03:18And that's where I think you
- 1:03:20see burnouts happening or
- 1:03:22just a change of mind, which I mean,
- 1:03:24that's sports.
- 1:03:24There's burnout in every sport.
- 1:03:27And certain people are able to
- 1:03:30to be more in tune with
- 1:03:31their body or have that
- 1:03:33little bit more balance in their life to,
- 1:03:35to not fall into that burnout stage.
- 1:03:38But yeah, I mean, it's, uh,
- 1:03:44like CrossFit will always be there.
- 1:03:45And I think there's,
- 1:03:47there's certain
- 1:03:47opportunities to do other things too.
- 1:03:51Yeah.
- 1:03:51And I think even people like
- 1:03:53Dallin Pepper played high
- 1:03:54school sports as well as, um,
- 1:03:58James Sprague was a swimmer.
- 1:03:59James did some other things
- 1:04:01in high school as well.
- 1:04:03So I think that gets misleading.
- 1:04:07Sometimes people think they
- 1:04:08just did CrossFit and specialized.
- 1:04:11But you are seeing that now.
- 1:04:13And I think my answer to you, Jamie,
- 1:04:15is anytime you put a sport
- 1:04:17on ESPN these days,
- 1:04:20whatever that sport is,
- 1:04:21there are going to be kids
- 1:04:23or parents that want their
- 1:04:24children to specialize.
- 1:04:26Yes.
- 1:04:31Uh,
- 1:04:31there are people arguing that Abby
- 1:04:33Domet jumped into the sport and was good.
- 1:04:36It still took her two years
- 1:04:37to make the games, which is pretty rare.
- 1:04:40I think you could do that in
- 1:04:412014 and before maybe,
- 1:04:43maybe a little bit after that,
- 1:04:45but in this CrossFit that
- 1:04:47we're seeing now in this new generation,
- 1:04:48that's extremely rare.
- 1:04:50What, uh, Abby Domet has done in terms of,
- 1:04:55um,
- 1:04:56making the games in like
- 1:04:57basically her second year
- 1:04:59and now winning the
- 1:05:01semifinal in her third year.
- 1:05:03Like that's very, very rare.
- 1:05:05But she has some sort of,
- 1:05:06I think it was like a
- 1:05:08cheerleading background or
- 1:05:09a tumbling background.
- 1:05:10Gymnastics.
- 1:05:11Gymnastics background, which always helps.
- 1:05:15So Michael Park is doubting our count.
- 1:05:18We interviewed Abby back in 2022.
- 1:05:22She had been doing the sport
- 1:05:23for a year at that point.
- 1:05:27So 2022, she did not make the games.
- 1:05:302023, she did.
- 1:05:302024 has made it again.
- 1:05:36She's been competing since 21.
- 1:05:38Didn't she start in like COVID, like 20?
- 1:05:42Yeah.
- 1:05:43Right.
- 1:05:43Yeah.
- 1:05:44But the first time we interviewed her,
- 1:05:45like she had been doing it
- 1:05:46for a year or a little more.
- 1:05:48Yeah.
- 1:05:49At that point.
- 1:05:51And you can go,
- 1:05:52all the interviews are
- 1:05:52still out on YouTube.
- 1:05:54We interviewed her every
- 1:05:55year she made semifinals.
- 1:05:59I still think it's pretty
- 1:06:00rare in this generation of
- 1:06:02CrossFitters to come up as
- 1:06:04quickly as she did.
- 1:06:05It's a rare thing.
- 1:06:13The next thing is the Service Cup.
- 1:06:16Congratulations to our very
- 1:06:17own Carolyn Prevost,
- 1:06:18who is the fittest educator in the world.
- 1:06:23I'm just going to pull this up real quick.
- 1:06:26Holly did a great graphic
- 1:06:28congratulating all the athletes.
- 1:06:31And I can barely see the arrow.
- 1:06:37There we go.
- 1:06:38So there's Carolyn as educator.
- 1:06:41Kelly Benfie, who's a friend of the show,
- 1:06:43one for medical professional.
- 1:06:49And there's Carolyn.
- 1:06:51Daniel Hegg, one for military veteran.
- 1:06:56Shanna Lowey,
- 1:06:57one for active duty military.
- 1:06:59Autumn Mills,
- 1:07:01one for law enforcement officer.
- 1:07:05Bailey Strachan,
- 1:07:08one for female firefighter.
- 1:07:09And then first responder, Kelly Pashowitz.
- 1:07:15And EMS responder, Kendall Watt.
- 1:07:22And trainer was Allie Zerke,
- 1:07:25Colton Merton's very own fiance.
- 1:07:30Aaron Snellgrove is affiliate owner.
- 1:07:34And so congratulations to
- 1:07:36those ladies for winning their divisions.
- 1:07:40Here is the competitive male,
- 1:07:43and it was Brad Heimer,
- 1:07:44one for medical professional.
- 1:07:47matt carden one for educator
- 1:07:50bruce thomas for military
- 1:07:53veteran seth a bear or
- 1:07:57hebert or yeah he for uh
- 1:08:00active duty casey
- 1:08:02mcallister for law
- 1:08:04enforcement officer sergio
- 1:08:07bracino for firefighter
- 1:08:10Andrew Doman for first responder,
- 1:08:12Chris Neskey for ESM AMS
- 1:08:15and Coben plus singer for
- 1:08:18CrossFit trainer.
- 1:08:20And finally Ben wise for affiliate owner.
- 1:08:28And there's that
- 1:08:30congratulations to
- 1:08:31everybody who participated
- 1:08:33in the service cup games
- 1:08:36and beat Dave Castro.
- 1:08:41which it was a slew of you all.
- 1:08:43Yes.
- 1:08:47So the next thing on the
- 1:08:48docket is coaching news.
- 1:08:51Oh boy.
- 1:08:52It was announced on
- 1:08:53Wednesday that Kiefer Leami Lamy,
- 1:08:59I never can pronounce it right.
- 1:09:00Uh, left underdogs and went to proven, uh,
- 1:09:07And in response to that,
- 1:09:09Underdogs named Casey Acree
- 1:09:11as head coach and head of
- 1:09:13programming for Underdogs Athletics.
- 1:09:15Yep.
- 1:09:20Kiefer is taking all of his
- 1:09:22athletes with him,
- 1:09:24but he is giving them the
- 1:09:25option to fly whichever
- 1:09:27flag they feel comfortable
- 1:09:28with for this year.
- 1:09:31And so... And Lynn, Casey...
- 1:09:35has always been an underdogs coach.
- 1:09:37He's been there for a couple of years,
- 1:09:39but he has just been
- 1:09:40promoted from regular coach to, uh,
- 1:09:44head coach and head of programming.
- 1:09:49Um, so yeah, so that's really awesome.
- 1:09:55But all this happened six
- 1:09:56weeks before the games.
- 1:09:58Yeah.
- 1:09:59It seems like, yeah.
- 1:10:01Does it have an effect if
- 1:10:03all the athletes are staying with Kiefer?
- 1:10:08No.
- 1:10:10I mean, they have their coach.
- 1:10:11It doesn't like the brand doesn't matter.
- 1:10:16You're people.
- 1:10:18Here's my thing that I do
- 1:10:19find fascinating from a
- 1:10:22drama perspective is that
- 1:10:23they plan on continuing to
- 1:10:25be in Vegas and at the
- 1:10:28moment are still working
- 1:10:29out at Camp Rhino.
- 1:10:30That's weird.
- 1:10:36That has got to be tough.
- 1:10:39And when Alex Kazan was on Savan,
- 1:10:42she says she's actually
- 1:10:43training more out of Camp
- 1:10:44Rhino North now than the Camp Rhino South,
- 1:10:48which is where everybody else is at.
- 1:10:52And a few of the athletes
- 1:10:53are coming up there to train with her.
- 1:10:56I guess it's hard to say
- 1:10:57because if he was...
- 1:10:59you know,
- 1:10:59it depends on the relationship and how,
- 1:11:01how the,
- 1:11:02the ties got cut at the end of it.
- 1:11:04Like if he was off offered
- 1:11:05like a huge opportunity,
- 1:11:07like let's say money wise.
- 1:11:08And he had a discussion with
- 1:11:10Justin and it was like,
- 1:11:11this is an opportunity that I have.
- 1:11:13And like, this is, you know,
- 1:11:16I have to like,
- 1:11:16what do you think I should take it?
- 1:11:18And if Justin says, you know,
- 1:11:19like I not able to match
- 1:11:20that and I fully understand, you know,
- 1:11:23if you're going, like,
- 1:11:24you just don't know how the
- 1:11:25discussions were.
- 1:11:25And if it was, you know,
- 1:11:27something like that, I don't,
- 1:11:29see like a huge issue with
- 1:11:32maybe training with under
- 1:11:33the same facility.
- 1:11:34And I think that they can be, you know,
- 1:11:37respectful adults and I
- 1:11:40guess now competitors.
- 1:11:42But I, I, I know that, you know,
- 1:11:44it obviously would hurt
- 1:11:45Justin and he's very
- 1:11:47passionate with his athletes and,
- 1:11:49and all of that,
- 1:11:49but I guess it just depends how,
- 1:11:51how it stopped and what was
- 1:11:53said and whether it was
- 1:11:54kind of like behind your
- 1:11:56back or more upfront.
- 1:11:58And,
- 1:11:59I don't know.
- 1:11:59It's not my place to know that.
- 1:12:02Funny you should say that.
- 1:12:03We are having Justin Kotler
- 1:12:05on the show this Wednesday,
- 1:12:07I believe at noon Eastern time.
- 1:12:11It's later in the notes.
- 1:12:13So we'll get to talk to
- 1:12:14Justin about all that.
- 1:12:17This is the part I have a problem with.
- 1:12:21If Kiefer's offered a job
- 1:12:22and it's more money or whatever,
- 1:12:24he has the right to take that job.
- 1:12:26We're all free agents in life, right?
- 1:12:29If I'm working my job and
- 1:12:31the state of Pennsylvania
- 1:12:32offered me more money and I
- 1:12:34wanted to take that,
- 1:12:35I have the right to do that.
- 1:12:37What I have a problem with
- 1:12:38is why is Proven offering a
- 1:12:41job at this point in the season?
- 1:12:46Jarrett Smith is their head
- 1:12:47of elite programming.
- 1:12:51Why did they need to hire
- 1:12:54Kiefer on at this moment?
- 1:12:56That's a good question.
- 1:12:58That's the part I have a problem with.
- 1:13:03It's not Kiefer taking the
- 1:13:04job because if you're offered it,
- 1:13:06you are entitled to take it.
- 1:13:07But it just seems like out
- 1:13:10of school to offer the job right now.
- 1:13:18A year ago, Proven lost Brooke, Saxon,
- 1:13:22and everybody of
- 1:13:23consequence from their lineup.
- 1:13:26Since then,
- 1:13:27they've added Joey Tutoro and
- 1:13:30Jarrett Smith as coaches
- 1:13:32and brought in their
- 1:13:33athletes and Colton Mertens.
- 1:13:36Now they're bringing in all
- 1:13:37these other athletes and
- 1:13:39they're going to get to say
- 1:13:41that all these athletes are
- 1:13:42Proven athletes at the games.
- 1:13:44Right.
- 1:13:45And truly, none of...
- 1:13:47Most of them did not get
- 1:13:49their training in and
- 1:13:50proven to make the games.
- 1:13:52Right.
- 1:13:53I mean, it's like Pat Vellner and HWPL.
- 1:13:56Like to me,
- 1:13:56Pat Vellner was not made by HWPL.
- 1:13:58He was made by DECA and, um,
- 1:14:01and working with Michelle
- 1:14:02for eight or nine years,
- 1:14:04however long it was.
- 1:14:04Right.
- 1:14:05So if those athletes choose
- 1:14:07to fly the proven banner, I'm not sure.
- 1:14:09Like if, if you've been with underdogs for,
- 1:14:12let's say multiple years,
- 1:14:14I think some of the
- 1:14:15athletes will choose to still represent.
- 1:14:18underdogs at the end of the
- 1:14:20day just for this games and
- 1:14:21maybe going forward after
- 1:14:22the games we'll have a new
- 1:14:24banner to fly but that's
- 1:14:27what I would do but I don't
- 1:14:29know I'm not in that
- 1:14:29position Nick said the
- 1:14:31position was posted for a
- 1:14:33while it's fine that it's
- 1:14:35posted for a while you
- 1:14:35don't have to make the hire
- 1:14:37or you can tell Kiefer hey
- 1:14:40after the games is when
- 1:14:41your effective date is
- 1:14:43that's when we're going to move
- 1:14:46There are more professional
- 1:14:47ways to handle this.
- 1:14:50And that's my thing.
- 1:14:51So if I have a gripe, it's about proven,
- 1:14:54not about Kiefer taking the job.
- 1:15:01So there's that.
- 1:15:06All right.
- 1:15:08And I'm happy for Casey Acree, by the way.
- 1:15:11That guy is just a great human being.
- 1:15:13Love that dude to death.
- 1:15:15So pumped that he has been promoted.
- 1:15:17And I know Justin believes in him a lot.
- 1:15:21Justin has talked to me
- 1:15:22about Casey and loves the way he thinks.
- 1:15:27So I'm super happy for Casey
- 1:15:30and I think it's a good fit with Justin.
- 1:15:35So super stoked for that.
- 1:15:37So this is a quick one
- 1:15:38because we don't have
- 1:15:39anything out of this.
- 1:15:40Dave announced in the Dallin
- 1:15:42interview that cuts would
- 1:15:43be coming that day within 24 hours.
- 1:15:46Still nothing on the cuts
- 1:15:49schedule for that.
- 1:15:51But I do want to say there's
- 1:15:53been a lot of talk about cuts this week.
- 1:15:56And I'll say who I saw this from.
- 1:15:58I saw this Seth Jumpship
- 1:16:01said something on Celebrity
- 1:16:03Jeopardy in the chat that
- 1:16:05he loves the cuts because
- 1:16:06of the drama it brings.
- 1:16:09And that got me incensed to
- 1:16:11possibly riff off here.
- 1:16:16If where you want the drama
- 1:16:19is at 30th place and 20th place,
- 1:16:22then you're looking for the
- 1:16:23wrong kind of drama.
- 1:16:26The drama should be who is on the podium,
- 1:16:29who is trying to get to the podium,
- 1:16:31who is trying to win the CrossFit Games.
- 1:16:34If you are trying to push
- 1:16:35the drama in any other
- 1:16:36direction than where that is,
- 1:16:40you're doing it for the wrong reasons.
- 1:16:45If you are cutting the field
- 1:16:46because you need to or
- 1:16:48because you have a time
- 1:16:50constraint because of
- 1:16:51television coverage or
- 1:16:53whatever it may be,
- 1:16:56That is one legit reason why I can see it.
- 1:16:59However,
- 1:17:00if you're doing it just for the drama,
- 1:17:02it makes no sense.
- 1:17:04Everybody bitched, even Dave,
- 1:17:07that the drama at
- 1:17:08semifinals was at the cut
- 1:17:09line or was at the games
- 1:17:12qualification line.
- 1:17:1310th place, 8th place, 11th place,
- 1:17:16whatever it was for that semifinal.
- 1:17:18And he hated that it played out that way.
- 1:17:22By making cuts at the games,
- 1:17:24you are simulating the same concept.
- 1:17:29The drama being at 30th and then at 20th.
- 1:17:35I just think the cuts don't
- 1:17:37make sense in our sport.
- 1:17:38If we have to have a smaller
- 1:17:41field for the test,
- 1:17:43then invite less people.
- 1:17:45But the field that takes the
- 1:17:46floor should be able to do
- 1:17:48the full set of tests
- 1:17:49because the point system changes.
- 1:17:52You're putting more value on
- 1:17:53later events because
- 1:17:54they're now worth more points.
- 1:17:56So you're saying these tests
- 1:17:57are actually more important
- 1:17:57for your fitness.
- 1:17:59But the rest of the
- 1:18:00beginning of the stage is
- 1:18:01still affected the leaderboard.
- 1:18:03It's like doing a decathlon
- 1:18:05and making cuts after the
- 1:18:07fifth or sixth event.
- 1:18:09Like you would never happen.
- 1:18:11You cannot compare our sport
- 1:18:12to a swimming meet where
- 1:18:14there's elimination style
- 1:18:15because you're doing the
- 1:18:16exact same thing or a sport
- 1:18:18like golf or hockey where
- 1:18:19there's like elimination bracket.
- 1:18:21You just happen to have, you know,
- 1:18:23a tough a tough draw like that.
- 1:18:25That's expected.
- 1:18:26But for us, for our definition of fitness,
- 1:18:29every single test is supposed to matter.
- 1:18:33in the test of fitness and
- 1:18:35should be of equal value in
- 1:18:38terms of points.
- 1:18:40And to me as an athlete,
- 1:18:42it never made sense for
- 1:18:43what the methodology is, but I mean,
- 1:18:45we were never meant to be a
- 1:18:46sport anyways.
- 1:18:47So I guess we could make up
- 1:18:49like our own rules, but it just, to me,
- 1:18:52it's like invite less people,
- 1:18:53invite 30 and do two heats
- 1:18:55of 15 if you want,
- 1:18:56if you want to just do it
- 1:18:57into two heats or invite 20,
- 1:18:59but whoever goes to the games,
- 1:19:03does the full games and you
- 1:19:04can actually see, you know,
- 1:19:0717th place is 17th place, not 17,
- 1:19:09you know, um,
- 1:19:10because there's money now
- 1:19:11for every single placing.
- 1:19:14Like people could have switched from,
- 1:19:16I mean, look at someone like, um,
- 1:19:18Kelly Baker last year, you know,
- 1:19:20who almost made the two cuts in a row.
- 1:19:23Um,
- 1:19:25and one is significantly more money
- 1:19:27that way.
- 1:19:27So I don't know.
- 1:19:30I've always been of the,
- 1:19:32no cuts and just invite less people.
- 1:19:35If, if there's a logistic like problem,
- 1:19:38right.
- 1:19:38The cuts are, did you, did I pull that?
- 1:19:41So, okay.
- 1:19:42Yeah.
- 1:19:43Bruce,
- 1:19:43no one really cares about the first
- 1:19:45or second heat.
- 1:19:46LOL.
- 1:19:46Then you are not a true
- 1:19:47sport fan of the sport.
- 1:19:50Let me,
- 1:19:52I have something to say about this too.
- 1:19:55If you don't stack one bad
- 1:19:58decision to cover up
- 1:19:59another bad decision,
- 1:20:01The reason you can even say
- 1:20:03this is because we don't
- 1:20:05have the right 40 people at the games.
- 1:20:07Correct.
- 1:20:08If you had the right 40
- 1:20:09people at the games,
- 1:20:10people would care about
- 1:20:12heat one because there'd be
- 1:20:13people in that heat that
- 1:20:15could win that event.
- 1:20:18Just like what happened at
- 1:20:19the North America East semifinal.
- 1:20:21There were people in every
- 1:20:23heat that could win the event.
- 1:20:25So it made every heat important.
- 1:20:28What happens, though,
- 1:20:29is because we don't get the
- 1:20:30right 40 people to the games,
- 1:20:33now heat one becomes irrelevant.
- 1:20:35Right.
- 1:20:37Spot on.
- 1:20:38Spot on.
- 1:20:39If you invite, let's say 30,
- 1:20:41but it's the top 30 in the world,
- 1:20:44however they can determine that,
- 1:20:45but it's legit the top 30,
- 1:20:47you can do three heats of
- 1:20:4810 or two heats of 15 or
- 1:20:49whatever you want to do.
- 1:20:51And you're going to be more
- 1:20:52invested because it's all
- 1:20:53the best athletes.
- 1:20:54And they can affect the leaderboard.
- 1:20:56And they all have wheelhouse workouts.
- 1:20:58And, yeah,
- 1:21:00like you need those people in the middle.
- 1:21:02But when certain athletes
- 1:21:03are there that aren't going
- 1:21:04to middle in basically anything,
- 1:21:06that's when you – like you said,
- 1:21:07you don't care for that as much.
- 1:21:10Yeah.
- 1:21:13And that's the only reason
- 1:21:15that it matters or doesn't
- 1:21:17matter is because we don't
- 1:21:18have the – the first heat has –
- 1:21:21a chunk of people that shouldn't be there.
- 1:21:23Agreed.
- 1:21:24And I shouldn't say it shouldn't be there,
- 1:21:27are not fit enough to be there.
- 1:21:30Right.
- 1:21:3310th, 11th, 12th,
- 1:21:3520th out of North America
- 1:21:36East would beat all eight
- 1:21:40of those people.
- 1:21:46Last two quick hitters as RV
- 1:21:49site at the games must not be going well.
- 1:21:52They slashed the price and
- 1:21:55took away some of the perks
- 1:21:57that will be at the RV park,
- 1:21:58but it went from,
- 1:22:00I want to say over a
- 1:22:01thousand dollars to 400
- 1:22:03bucks for the weekend.
- 1:22:07to be able to park in the RV park.
- 1:22:10They're taking away sponsored activations,
- 1:22:12extra bathrooms, et cetera.
- 1:22:14If you bought a spot and now
- 1:22:16don't want to be there
- 1:22:17because they've taken that stuff away,
- 1:22:19they will give you a full
- 1:22:19refund of your money.
- 1:22:22If you want to be there
- 1:22:24still with the lack of stuff,
- 1:22:26they will give you a refund
- 1:22:27down to the current price.
- 1:22:31So I think that's a good way to do it.
- 1:22:32Yeah.
- 1:22:35Um,
- 1:22:35the other thing that hit this week was
- 1:22:37our first drug popping of
- 1:22:41the season with three
- 1:22:43people from the four,
- 1:22:46three people from Asia,
- 1:22:48one from North America East.
- 1:22:50The North America East was a team.
- 1:22:52It was a mayhem team.
- 1:22:54Uh,
- 1:22:56and another mayhem team will get in
- 1:23:00based on it.
- 1:23:01Yeah.
- 1:23:03I've heard a lot of comments about this.
- 1:23:05I'll get to the individuals in a second,
- 1:23:08but if you're Mayhem,
- 1:23:13I know their athletes have
- 1:23:14to sign a contract.
- 1:23:16Do you think there's
- 1:23:16anything in that contract
- 1:23:18about popping for PEDs?
- 1:23:23No, I don't think there is.
- 1:23:24I think I've seen the contract.
- 1:23:30I can't speak on the contract,
- 1:23:31so I don't know.
- 1:23:34Yeah.
- 1:23:36That name has become so big
- 1:23:39and such a big part in the sport.
- 1:23:42I think that if you are with mayhem,
- 1:23:44you need to start
- 1:23:45protecting yourself from
- 1:23:47these situations.
- 1:23:48Yeah.
- 1:23:52Because that is bad for the brand.
- 1:23:55How do you do that?
- 1:23:56I don't know.
- 1:23:58It lets you start testing yourself.
- 1:24:02Yeah, I guess.
- 1:24:08I mean,
- 1:24:09that is the risk you take when
- 1:24:11you're trying to grow and
- 1:24:11you're accepting anyone to
- 1:24:13be a part of this growing empire.
- 1:24:15Do you think they've grown
- 1:24:17too big to control that?
- 1:24:19Yeah.
- 1:24:20Yeah, I don't think Mayhem can control.
- 1:24:22They can educate them and
- 1:24:24tell them what resources
- 1:24:26they can look up to see
- 1:24:27whether their supplements
- 1:24:28are safe and stuff.
- 1:24:30the end of the day you can't
- 1:24:31control what someone's
- 1:24:32gonna do like that that's a
- 1:24:34tough part about being on a
- 1:24:35team as well because uh
- 1:24:37like the three that were
- 1:24:38that popped were uh
- 1:24:40individual from the asia
- 1:24:42and then the one that's on
- 1:24:43the team which I know that
- 1:24:44guy very well I I've
- 1:24:46competed with him before
- 1:24:47even locally uh in toronto
- 1:24:49so I'm I'm heartbroken uh
- 1:24:52to hear that I'm hard
- 1:24:53working for the team
- 1:24:54members that I know very well um
- 1:24:58just sad because like when
- 1:24:59you're when you're signing
- 1:25:00up for a team like you're
- 1:25:01you're putting everything
- 1:25:02in for that team and um you
- 1:25:05know you're hoping that
- 1:25:05everyone's on the same page
- 1:25:06people are traveling in
- 1:25:07people have families or
- 1:25:08other you know obligations
- 1:25:09and you know it's not just
- 1:25:12you that you let down it's
- 1:25:14it's your team uh it's
- 1:25:16gotta be hard when it's an
- 1:25:18individual I don't feel as
- 1:25:20as bad because you know
- 1:25:22it's on them and you know
- 1:25:24they got caught or
- 1:25:25whatever situation,
- 1:25:26but when it's on a team,
- 1:25:27it really hurts to see that
- 1:25:31for the other members.
- 1:25:34Derek Summers,
- 1:25:34the larger their athlete
- 1:25:35membership will grow,
- 1:25:37the larger the chance of this happening,
- 1:25:38tough to avoid it.
- 1:25:40Probably right.
- 1:25:41It's just, man,
- 1:25:45you're trying to protect that brand.
- 1:25:50Uh, well,
- 1:25:51if I said they had a team pop years ago,
- 1:25:53right.
- 1:25:54It was female athlete, Ellie.
- 1:25:55Yes.
- 1:25:56Ellie keyboard on their Perth riches team.
- 1:25:59Well,
- 1:25:59it would have been split to two at
- 1:26:00that point.
- 1:26:01It would have been
- 1:26:02independence at that team at that point.
- 1:26:04So she was on the second team.
- 1:26:05Um, so yeah, I mean,
- 1:26:08it's already very close to home, so.
- 1:26:12Yeah.
- 1:26:13Um,
- 1:26:15Then we had the three Asian
- 1:26:17athletes pop out of the top four.
- 1:26:23John Young made the
- 1:26:24statement that nobody from
- 1:26:25Asia should make it this
- 1:26:26year because of that.
- 1:26:27100%.
- 1:26:28Maybe Arthur Semenov,
- 1:26:31who was clean apparently,
- 1:26:33but they absolutely, I feel like,
- 1:26:37do not deserve backfill
- 1:26:39invites when that many
- 1:26:40people in your region are popping.
- 1:26:43You've lost your...
- 1:26:46Like they already should
- 1:26:47have had the second spot.
- 1:26:49They always had the second spot, I thought,
- 1:26:51for Asia the last few years.
- 1:26:53But what it's tough because like,
- 1:26:56do I think that they should
- 1:26:58have two spots?
- 1:26:59No,
- 1:26:59but this is the spots that they were
- 1:27:00given.
- 1:27:01And and the guy that gets in
- 1:27:02on fifth place,
- 1:27:03like it's not his fault
- 1:27:04that the people in front of
- 1:27:05him were juicing and that
- 1:27:06he would have finished, let's say,
- 1:27:08second place to earn that second spot.
- 1:27:11from Asia.
- 1:27:12It's just the whole system
- 1:27:13of just how we're getting, you know,
- 1:27:15athletes there.
- 1:27:16That's another discussion,
- 1:27:17but for the rules of this year, you know,
- 1:27:21that fifth spot technically earns it.
- 1:27:23I mean, if you look at the Olympics,
- 1:27:25like swimming,
- 1:27:25let's say let's go like the
- 1:27:27U S qualifications, like
- 1:27:29that heat that they're doing
- 1:27:30there for qualification is
- 1:27:32probably better than the Olympic finals,
- 1:27:34right?
- 1:27:34Like you have global
- 1:27:35representation at the
- 1:27:36Olympics and it's harder to
- 1:27:38make it to the Olympics
- 1:27:39than actually competing
- 1:27:40probably at the Olympics
- 1:27:41because of how good your country is.
- 1:27:42And it's the same thing in CrossFit.
- 1:27:44And I guess that's the hard part of,
- 1:27:45and I think I saw one of
- 1:27:46the comments about, you know,
- 1:27:48global representation.
- 1:27:49And it's like,
- 1:27:50do we want the sport to grow
- 1:27:53globally or do we want the
- 1:27:54best athletes that are currently,
- 1:27:57you know, there?
- 1:27:58And I think that's a
- 1:27:59that's a decision that CrossFit makes,
- 1:28:01that they want it to be a
- 1:28:02global representation.
- 1:28:03So I think with that in mind,
- 1:28:05that CrossFit has,
- 1:28:06are we going to get the top athletes?
- 1:28:08No,
- 1:28:08but are we going to get representation
- 1:28:10from different places?
- 1:28:13Yes.
- 1:28:14But I guess we'll see.
- 1:28:15I mean,
- 1:28:15I don't know if that's the end of
- 1:28:16the testing and if that's it,
- 1:28:19because we had a week three
- 1:28:20and a week one,
- 1:28:22but I'm assuming it's not the end.
- 1:28:24Let's hope not.
- 1:28:25It's weird to me that...
- 1:28:27You have Asia and then North
- 1:28:29America East in one release.
- 1:28:31You would think the week one
- 1:28:33semis would have had some pops,
- 1:28:36and then we'd go a week and
- 1:28:37maybe get a couple more,
- 1:28:38and then we'd go another
- 1:28:39and get the final.
- 1:28:41But yeah, it's... Yeah, you want...
- 1:28:47some global representation and whatever.
- 1:28:49That's where I think
- 1:28:50everyone gets one and that's it.
- 1:28:53Yes.
- 1:28:53And then from there we figured out,
- 1:28:56but like at this point you're like,
- 1:29:00I think you need to make this,
- 1:29:02this popping situation like hurt.
- 1:29:05And that means you guys have you,
- 1:29:07your country is too juiced.
- 1:29:11We're taking this away from you.
- 1:29:12Like clearly that's the only
- 1:29:14way that you guys are
- 1:29:15trying to get into this sport.
- 1:29:16And we're,
- 1:29:17shutting that down.
- 1:29:20I don't think you give it to
- 1:29:20the fifth person.
- 1:29:22I don't think you shut it down,
- 1:29:23but I do believe as Carolyn
- 1:29:26pointed out three or four
- 1:29:28weeks ago on this show,
- 1:29:31by giving another person a game spot,
- 1:29:34it affects this world ranking BS.
- 1:29:38And I, that can't happen, right?
- 1:29:40You can't get another game
- 1:29:43spot because of a drug issue.
- 1:29:46um a drug suspension and
- 1:29:48getting another person into
- 1:29:50the games with all those
- 1:29:51points to affect the world
- 1:29:53rankings right that's what
- 1:29:55can't happen I'm okay with
- 1:29:58the one person clean moving
- 1:30:00forward but we can't allow
- 1:30:03another person to then uh
- 1:30:07go in and get all the games
- 1:30:09points and then affect the world rankings
- 1:30:12Because then it's going to
- 1:30:13skew it worse and worse and
- 1:30:14worse as we move forward.
- 1:30:16Yep.
- 1:30:18Luke Ridley, thank you so much for the $5.
- 1:30:2323 Chinese swimmers pop and
- 1:30:24then get let off.
- 1:30:25I have ranted about that a couple times.
- 1:30:29I was at the U.S.
- 1:30:30swimming trials.
- 1:30:31I heard about this.
- 1:30:32It is utterly ridiculous
- 1:30:34that 23 people all ate contaminated food.
- 1:30:38Yeah.
- 1:30:39And that the Olympic
- 1:30:40Committee allowed this through.
- 1:30:43or water allowed that
- 1:30:44through freaking ridiculous.
- 1:30:48But I mean,
- 1:30:48our testing protocol just needs
- 1:30:50to get better in general in our,
- 1:30:52in our space.
- 1:30:52Like I can't just be at the
- 1:30:55semifinals for most of these athletes.
- 1:30:58Um, or like, yeah,
- 1:30:59at the same finals and the games,
- 1:31:00like there needs to be more
- 1:31:02out of competition testing.
- 1:31:03And I'm not talking about out of,
- 1:31:04out of competition,
- 1:31:05like getting tested at
- 1:31:06water blues or Dubai, like more.
- 1:31:09globally,
- 1:31:11not just like the people on the list,
- 1:31:12but more globally, like in between events,
- 1:31:16not at an event,
- 1:31:17like show up to their gym, show up.
- 1:31:18Like that's where I think
- 1:31:20you could catch like way more people,
- 1:31:22but people know that
- 1:31:23they're getting tested at these events.
- 1:31:25So like people that are popping,
- 1:31:28like they just probably
- 1:31:29aren't educated enough for
- 1:31:31whatever they're taking.
- 1:31:33Like there just needs to be
- 1:31:34more testing in general.
- 1:31:35Well, the one guy took everything.
- 1:31:38He basically went to the
- 1:31:39steroid shop and said,
- 1:31:40I'll take one of each.
- 1:31:43When you see the list of stuff he took.
- 1:31:46It's just frustrating, right,
- 1:31:48for the athletes to be
- 1:31:50competing against athletes
- 1:31:52that are on himself.
- 1:31:54And that's the same guy that
- 1:31:55said his drink was spiked.
- 1:31:58I don't know who spiking a
- 1:31:59drink went and bought one of everything,
- 1:32:02but ridiculous.
- 1:32:06The stories are just stupid.
- 1:32:09Well, with that, it's been a fun show.
- 1:32:11Thank you, everybody, for the comments,
- 1:32:13for being here.
- 1:32:14You make this show so much fun.
- 1:32:16The comments were coming in so fast,

- 1:32:32Right?
- 1:32:32Because when athletes come in and say, hey,
- 1:32:34I can do this time,
- 1:32:35sometimes we don't get a lot of notice.

- 1:33:03but in the other comments if you...
- 1:33:05want us to talk about
- 1:33:06something in the youtube
- 1:33:07comments or I'll put up
- 1:33:08there's a question up there
- 1:33:09right now on my instagram
- 1:33:12you can fill that out as a
- 1:33:13question of the week or
- 1:33:15submit a two minute or less
- 1:33:17riff that we will air on
- 1:33:19the show uh for everybody
