One could say the buzzer beater of buzzer beaters in the world of Hollywood just happened. ⁓ Jesus: We were so wrong. were so wrong. Dear viewers and listeners, I'm here to say we were violently wrong. Okay? We thought one side really had it in the bag. No contest, no holds barred. We were in the eleventh hour, if you will. Nolan: Yeah. Mm-hmm. But here we go. Jesus: then this happened. Nolan: Netflix has officially bowed out of the bid for Warner Brothers Paramount has come in with one last ditch effort the details of it Netflix declined to raise its bid Warner Bros. Discovery's assets to match a revised bid by Paramount Skydance. So on Thursday the WBD board said it valued Paramount's $31 per share, is the new offer that Paramount gave for Warner Bros. To be superior to an existing deal with Netflix, Paramount agreed to pay the $2.8 billion breakup fee that WBD would owe Netflix if that deal didn't go through. Jesus: Good God. Nolan: Netflix stock spiked in extended trading while shares of Warner Bros. discovery fell. ⁓ Pretty much we see it as, I'm looking at this as like a love triangle that went wrong where it was kind of you know Warner Brothers had decided to choose Netflix they were the better life partner. Where they're going out all of a sudden Paramount just comes in and says yeah, but I can buy you things and Now Netflix is like I guess you didn't really love me. So I'm not gonna try anymore That's exactly what it this is looking like right now That's exactly to find out if Paramount will be actually the better Life partner for Warner Brothers that is to be determined that is to be determined, but we are we are at this point now where Jesus: This is exactly what it looks like. Who's to say? Who's to say? Who knows? Nolan: paramount has has the door held open for them I don't believe that any other one bids are going to be coming in the deal could still fall through so it's not a done deal but I believe they said it's a six to twelve month projected timeline of when the deal could close or fall through if something doesn't match up with what they need. But now that's to be determined, but at this point it is a 99 % sure chance that it would be Paramount ⁓ taking over Warner Brothers. And if not, Warner Brothers, I believe, is set to get $7 billion if the deal doesn't complete and they continue work. as normal, continue business as usual. Jalen, your thoughts on Paramount taking that swing in the bottom of the ninth, sending it home. Jesus: feel like Warner Brothers is just playing everybody. Cause they had the breakup deal with Netflix that they just cashed in on. So now what if they're just gonna lead on Paramount for a year and then collect another seven billion which then gets them to some sort of breaking even point and they just keep doing what they're doing. I feel like this whole thing was just a sham to get an injection of cash off these breakup deals and these contracts. That's just my hot take. That's my hot take. think... Nolan: Yeah, yeah. Hey, you know Robert Meyer Burnett's very famous for saying, you know, no, he's very famous for saying you don't get what you deserve. You get what you negotiate and Warren Brothers is being a little shy over there, you know, for powered sootham. Jesus: I think this whole thing possibly could have just been a sham for them to get into contracts with these negotiations and be like, well, this didn't work out the way we wanted, so you're gonna have to pay us $13 billion. ⁓ well, let's see the next offer. Okay, we'll agree to do negotiations, but if we don't like it, you gotta pay us $7 billion. And all of a sudden that money figure is exactly what they needed to keep the company floating. You know what saying? I feel like this could all end up just being a sham, which is like... I mean, that's 4D chess from Water Brothers, I can tell you that. I wouldn't seen that coming. That's some legendary tactics, but I don't know. Nolan: Yeah. Now let's play devil's advocate and say that this that is what's going on. What does that mean for Warner Brothers if they are just back-ending everybody? Jesus: ⁓ it means they s- I mean, they just get to stay doing what they're doing. James Gunn's universe continues to have to exist and it is what it is. They're just gonna keep doing business as usual. means the Harry Potter stuff stays online as far as production goes. They're starting to get into that as far as I know and all that kind of stuff. ⁓ So all these projects they had lined up under the WB banner should be... ⁓ cooking and rolling. Now if a merger happens, that's where all that would get. That's where I would have questions on, okay, well what's gonna keep cooking? Are we keeping the Harry Potter show? Are we canceling the rest of whatever? What's the DCU gonna look like? What happens to the Batman movie? All that kind of stuff. But if they stay business as usual, then pretty much everything's just gonna go the way that's gonna go. We're gonna watch Supergirl and then the Batman 2 will come out at some point in time, hopefully. Maybe. Nolan: Yeah. Mm-hmm Yeah. That's true. Eventually, whenever they begin to do things for that. Jesus: I don't know. Potentially, who knows? ⁓ And all that kind of stuff, so we'll see what happens. yeah, and honestly, I'm like, re-binging Superman and Lois, it still just makes me so salt that we had to give up that Superman for David Cornsworth, man. Because like, what a good show, you know? But here we are. Here we are. Nolan: Here we are. ⁓ Do you foresee any negative pros and cons, I guess I'll ask you of Paramount officially getting Warner Brothers? Where is your head at regarding them actually being the new father of actually I have the list. I'm going to read out to you when this deal if this deal closes. This is what the assets will be that Paramount owns. TNT, CBS. CNN MTV TCM Showtime Adult Swim DC Studios Paramount Plus Nickelodeon HBO HBO Max Comedy Central Cartoon Network Film rights would be including Star Trek Gremlins Beetlejuice DC Comics Tom and Jerry Harry Potter Citizen Kane Transformers A Quiet Place Looney Tunes The Conjuring Mortal Kombat Game of Thrones Dora the Explorer Mission Impossible The Lord of the Rings Spongebob Squarepants Avatar the Last Hairpender Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Dune 3 Minecraft Monsterverse all distr- distribution rights for those last three. That's a lot. That's a lot of goop. That's a lot of goop, you know what mean? Jesus: Well, think the big ones that people are gonna be like, yeah, I think the big ones that people are gonna look at are probably like the bigger, you know, the Harry Potters, everything with DC, and then obviously like Dune and probably the Avatar because it just happened on Netflix. ⁓ So I think generally, like as far as pros and cons, I think the pros would be like the Transformers franchise could get renewed. I think there's a good chance that maybe TMNT comes back, because they already kind of did that with Michael Bay and all that kind of stuff. I there's a world where they probably keep James Gunn's DCU, but there's also a world where for some reason, because it's a new owner, they just like, you know what, we're gonna reboot it again. And then those poor fans that might have been a fan of David Corn sweat and the new stuff he's got going on, are all gonna have to jump ship and get on board with another Superman and another Batman and that kind of thing. ⁓ That's like the two ends of it that I really see is that there's definitely potential for things to kind of be cool again. I think there's a world where Paramount can kind of put all their eggs into a certain type of basket. I think Dune should probably be safe out of all of those if I'm gonna be real honest about it, because most of that stuff is kind of in the bag already. They're in like post editing stuff that's like on the way. So I wouldn't worry if you're a Dune fan. But. Nolan: Yeah. Jesus: as far as like what could be extended maybe like as far as like spinoff shows or like furthering the property of Dune probably not, you know, gonna be looking that way for Paramount because I'm not sure how much of an interest they had compared to Warner Brothers because they loved that property. Nolan: Now my other... My other question to you, and we're not going to get too deep into it because we're not that type of podcast, the CEO, David Ellison, is very well known as someone who is a part of a certain political viewpoint, certain ⁓ gang of friends, if you will. ⁓ There are a lot of shows on the WB banner. lot of movies on the WB banner that do not necessarily knock you over the head with things, but give you acceptance and a lot more vibrant of characters and what their backgrounds are. For example, The Last of Us. There are plenty of people and or relationships going on in that show that probably are a little bit more forefronted. You and I are both watching The Pit. There's a lot of couple underlying tones about certain things about how you treat people, especially in the workplace and the medical field. ⁓ We now have someone who maybe sees things in a different light. Jesus: very much. Mm-hmm. Nolan: Does this mean that we're gonna start seeing a shift? Not necessarily a different viewpoint, but a lack thereof of something that we've been very used to for the past some odd years. Jesus: I think there's a world that exists that either A, everything is gonna be Trump propaganda or B, that they won't have enough creators to be willing to work with the studio because they're not gonna sit here and be... ⁓ you know, controlled media like they did in fucking Nazi Germany or anything like that, you know what mean? Like we're just not getting to that point in Hollywood. I don't think there's enough creators out there that would be willing to sign up for a paycheck to do that. ⁓ Especially because of how like, you know, liberal most artists in the industry tend to be. So, I mean, I'm not really worried on that front. I think it is a bit of a concern. It's like I'm not gonna write it off immediately, obviously. But that is a real possibility that all of a sudden he's buying all the corporations. and all the media outlets so that way we can have propaganda for the other side and all that kind of stuff and they can continue with doing what they're doing. I personally have more faith in Hollywood as a system and in all those things than anything else to... ⁓ to that like as creators I very much doubt that if they're told well you have to put this plus ad for this point of view like no you're not gonna do that to an artist you're just gonna run out of them eventually there's not gonna be any way that it's gonna want to work with you at some point so yeah Nolan: Yeah, yeah. Also, for those who are, you may have seen it. I'm not sure of the 100 % validity of so I'm not gonna say it's valid. ⁓ There were lot of stories and rumors that when these first bid wars were going down, the main reason Paramount was invested in it is because they wanted to get CNN from WB. So who knows what the future will look like, maybe the only changes we'll really see will be on the actual news ⁓ media part of it, but we'll have to kind of wait and see what goes on with that. ⁓ Regardless... Let us know down in the comments below what you think of Paramount apparently now almost 1 % away from completely finishing this deal of acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery and now being somewhat of a half and half monopoly against Disneyland or Disney ⁓ in the Hollywood world. ⁓ Jesus: Yeah, the other half of the monopoly. It's coming down to two. And then there'll be one glorious battle to decide it all. Nolan: Actually that would be kind of badass. would actually be really sad to see something like that. It's like, ⁓ no, you guys are putting out all this content for us to ingest and hopefully pick a side. Please don't do it anymore. In my life. ⁓ Anyways, let us know what you think. The next NewsNegget we're hitting today. Now this one's gonna be a little bit different. Jesus: That would be terrible. That would be terrible. Now, how dare you crank out everything I've ever wanted in like a 10 year span. No, stop, don't. Nolan: We're gonna we'll kind of jump into a little bit. I just kind of wanted to get your I'm sure you've seen the the posts and the little articles that have come out about it. ⁓ BAFTAs the BAFTAs did just happen. ⁓ During the ceremony, or I'd say in the nominees, there was an actor slash ⁓ character being portrayed, John Davidson. There's a movie called I Swear, where it is a biopic of John Davidson's life as someone who's dealing with Tourette's and the tics and the involuntary blurting of statements, profanity that comes with having Tourette's syndrome. ⁓ And during the BBC broadcast of the BAFTAs ⁓ There was a moment where John Davidson was in attendance and Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo who are on screen right now were announcing nominees and He blurted out the n-word ⁓ and it was heard on that national broadcast and this alone here The delay was 5 minutes, but BBC elected to not remove it from the broadcast. broadcast, ⁓ Jesus: Mmm. Bit of an L there. Nolan: censor that out or cut that out of the feed but allow this to stay on the national broadcast. ⁓ Regardless, John Davidson, ⁓ from what I've been reading, Jesus: know why. Nolan: After it occurred, he felt very uncomfortable with how that happened and he removed himself from the auditorium to watch it from another room. ⁓ So wasn't like he stayed there thinking nothing happened. He did release a full statement regarding it saying, I want to thank the BAFTA and everyone involved in the awards last night for the support and understanding and inviting me to attend the broadcast. I appreciated the announcement to the auditorium in advance of the recording, warning everyone that my tics are involuntary and are not a reflection of my personal beliefs. I was heartened by the round of applause that followed this announcement and felt welcomed and understood in an environment that would normally be impossible for me. In addition to the announcement by Alan Cumming, the BBC and BAFTA, I can only add that I am, and always have been, deeply mortified if anyone considers my involuntary tics to be intentional or to carry any meaning. I was in attendance to celebrate the film of my life, I swear. which more than any film or TV documentary explains the origins, conditions, traits, ⁓ and manifestations of Tourette's syndrome. I have spent my life trying to support and empower the Tourette's community and to teach empathy, kindness, and understanding from others, and I will continue to do so. I chose to leave the auditorium early into the ceremony as I was aware of the distress my tics were causing." So, Jaylen, there's two sides to this. Obviously, when he's come out, he's made a statement. Jesus: Mm-hmm. Nolan: ⁓ saying that he wanted to show his appreciation for what transpired, ⁓ didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable so he removed himself. Obviously it happened. So as such, because of the world we live in, There was a lot of Twitter wars going back and forth of what side should people be on. ⁓ Because in all of his statements he never once made any sort of apology to Michael B. Jordan or Delroy Lindo specifically. There have been reports later on that said that he reached out to ⁓ I believe the BAFTAs or someone to get in contact with their agents to speak with them probably personally rather than make this a public affair which kudos to him. I completely encourage that, support that. ⁓ But everyone doesn't read every article that goes on, so everyone's a little bit more angry. ⁓ They are a little, and they're kind of going into the idea of, you don't just kind of randomly know these words, it comes from a very specific part in your upbringing, or you learn these things. And why is it that when these two gentlemen are on stage is when that specific word obviously becomes a tick that you're going to outburst and say out loud. We're not here to discuss how Tourette's works, because we don't know how Tourette's Centro works. Yeah. Yeah. Jesus: I'm not a fucking MD man. It's it is what it is. It happened It sucks that it happened the guy tried to apologize for it It is what it is and also like from what I've understood as far as like the neurological disorder of it It's it's similar to like when people ⁓ They have like DID like they pick up like a French accent when they're in their other personality for no reason like that even though they've never been to France That's just one of those things so like subconsciously yeah They probably have heard the word before and they probably have heard it somewhere doesn't mean they're a freaking racist doesn't mean they grew up in the clan Doesn't mean any of those things but like they've heard the word before they've existed on this planet for a long enough time You're going to hear something terrible come out of someone's mouth in an inappropriate time unless you are the most sheltered human being on planet Earth I promise Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: you've heard it somewhere. So whether or not you say it, subconsciously it's in there and then because of how that particular disease works, that's what the tick happens. They'll associate it. Yes, just like they said, why is it when the two black guys got on stage that was the tick that happened? Because that's what it's associated with, that's what happens. Was it intentional? Probably not, you know what mean? Like, yeah, it's whatever. It's a guy with Tourette's, get over it. You know what I mean? I think we get way too... Nolan: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I agree. Jesus: investigative sometimes when stuff happens. it a good, like again, it's not great. Obviously, I think it's probably just not optically right. This looks bad. This is bad optics for you as a person, right? Two black guys get on stage at the baptist and then you just stop there screaming it because your tics are going crazy. Yeah, doesn't look great for you. Okay, I understand that. But at the end of the day, it's as much what you live with, man. That's what happens, man. Nolan: Ha. Ha. Jesus: There's no fix for it. That's just how these people have to live every single day. Like they don't want to be saying these things. just do. And it just happens. yeah, it's silly. Nolan: So I am hoping that know they were able to ⁓ Mr. Davidson was able to get in contact with Michael B Jordan Delroy Lindo because I don't think that he from everything I've seen everything I've read it doesn't seem like he is any one of malicious content or character so I do think that he is trying to write the ship of what was going on ⁓ Ironically the actor who portrayed him Robert Aramayo who also plays Elrond in Jesus: You see? ⁓ Nolan: The Lord of the Rings, Rings of Power Show. ⁓ He actually won Best Actor for that movie, beating out Michael B. Jordan, Timothee Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons, and Ethan Hawke, which some are saying maybe it was just a little bit of biased favoritism out there in the BAFTAs because he is the only one of UK heritage there. ⁓ Jesus: Mm-hmm. Look at that. Well... Nolan: That's neither here nor there. ⁓ Yeah, you know, it's something that happened. The world will be a fire online because that's what the world likes to do. They like to have something that they can go back to and invest in. ⁓ I for one don't think that this was anything. Yeah, I don't think this was anything malicious. I don't think it was anything. ⁓ Jesus: for whatever reason. Nolan: that says who he is, I'm sure that they're trying to get everything situated behind closed doors because this doesn't need to be made a public thing for him, Michael B. Nolan: Ed Scream has been cast as Balder in God of War. ⁓ You know, Game of Thrones, Deadpool, he was in the most recent Jurassic World Rebirth movie. ⁓ You know, he's kind an actor who's been all over the place, but never... He was, I believe, Hitman also, right? Am I mistaken him for someone else? Jesus: Peace. He was in the Hitman adaptation. He did really well in that film, I felt like. Me personally. I'm pretty sure he was. Like 94 % sure it was him. Nolan: Was he? Yeah, I think he was. Yeah. He's been cast as Balder. This isn't the main part of the God of War thing that I wanted to discuss today. I just kind of want to give an announcement that he was cast as Balder. The other part was that they just released ⁓ the first shot. I didn't even know that they started production, but it's here. ⁓ They have released this. Jesus: A plus roster. Tao Bang, looks like God of War, baby. Let's get it. Nolan: Looks like God of War, Trance and Kratos here. And of course, I guess the theme of today's segment is keyboard warriors. ⁓ Everyone is a little upset with the fact that Ryan Hurst has a bit of a beer gut instead of just looking like a straight beast. But of course, you know, it's, you know, you know how hard it is to find someone that can act well portray a character and be like chiseled to the gods. ⁓ Jesus: He looks he's born shape than I am right now. What the fuck are these guys on like it's just weird like internet gamer bros are so weird man They are so weird Like they will really convince themselves that someone like ⁓ Sophie Turner is unattractive, you know, I mean like that's that's the crazy like they it's just a weird sector of people Nolan: You know. You know. You know. He's like, it doesn't look like you could kill Thor. I'm like, well, you know. as they're sitting there with bacon grease on their fingertips in their recliner chair in a bowl of popcorn. Yeah. Yeah. Jesus: Yeah, in their mom's basement, unemployed. You know what mean? It's just like, bro, go outside and do things. This shot right here, is it a little cosplay? Yeah, but like, it's one picture. It's one picture. I'm not seeing it in motion. They probably still have another layer, another pass of ⁓ post-vis to go through with the cinematography and all that other stuff to do lighting and all that. like. Nolan: It's out of context. It's one picture. I am wondering though, is, cause lemme see. Okay, so it did. Yeah, it did start probably this week. It says late February 2026 was its slated start date. You know, it's it's probably just the very first shot that they have of the show. And he's hunched over, probably wasn't instructed to like, firm up his gut, you know, it just he's probably still fit than all of us listening or watching or Jesus: Mm-hmm. I look at his arms and his traps and shit, man. There's no way it's just got a gut down there. You know what mean? You can see it. But come on, bro. The dude's in shape. Get over yourselves, man. If anything, looks like, again, it's straight off the cam. I will say it does look like, I thought the budget would look a little higher here. The IMO just off this picture. It looks like more of a, it kind of looks like the Krypton show from Sci-Fi, quality-wise right now. Nolan: You can see when you see a bicep peak you see a bicep peak you see the deltoid separation from the tricep Mm-hmm. Jesus: with how he's looking in this shot. again, it's not in motion. There's still probably 10 other passes of VFX they have to do as far as lighting and arrangement and all that stuff goes. So yeah, but as of right now, yeah, looks like Kratos came off the game. Nolan: It's not in motion. let's face it the action scenes are going to be the more important viewer part of this of this ⁓ production yeah and Jesus: Right, right. How much CG is gonna be in there and what are they gonna be able to do with it being the show format and how good can they get it to look? Because we're talking about fighting gods and stuff, man. It has to look pretty good for that to pass. So we'll see, man. Nolan: Yeah, and this is a two season order, so I'm sure they're getting this one underway. So to kind of troubleshoot when young Atreus here is probably going to hit his random five inch growth spurt and voice drop. ⁓ But yeah, I think this looks great. I'm excited. Ryan Hurst is a phenomenal actor. And if you don't see that people were upset that we got Pedro Pascal as Joel and then he proved everyone wrong in the role of Joel. So Jesus: Mm-hmm. Nolan: Amazon Prime, I have some faith in them. Their production budget is unlimited if we're being completely honest. So I'm sure everything is going to look tip-top, pristine shape when we get to it actually premiering. So up yours everybody. Christian Bale has announced that he is joining a film. Christian Bale in my opinion is also an actor who chooses his work very meticulously. Jesus: Who's gonna be crazier for longer? That's the question. Exactly. Nolan: Knowing that he's gonna take a role because of what it actually has to offer him as an artist And I think that this probably speaks a lot more volumes, especially when you have him and Leonardo DiCaprio Involved and it doesn't seem like this is a film that's gonna be taken lightly because Clearly, you know, he's not no offense He's not like Jason Momoa who hops into roles because he wants to have fun He they hop into roles for the purpose of putting on a show Your thoughts Jesus: Mm-hmm. I mean, yeah, it sounds like a banger idea. ⁓ I'm always down for good actors being in good movies with things. That's always a good time for me. Christian Bale, Leo DiCaprio, two good actors going into a movie together should be A plus time. ⁓ I will say though, I hope we're not getting to the point where everyone just has to keep digging into the well. I feel like we can get these guys in different stuff. Like we're doing a 90s sequel, prequel thing or whatever happened and whatever. just because you're an old actor doesn't mean you can't hop into new IPs. I know Thor, Love and Thunder didn't work out for you, but... Nolan: To be fair, let's be fair, Christian Bale is going to be a part of Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride, which looks very artistic, I think that was probably something more of him doing that, jumping into it. Leonardo's obviously being nominated right now for his role in ⁓ One Battle After Another, so those are both technically original IPs if I remember correctly, so could be something, you know? Maybe it's a little more fun. Jesus: Joel, Joel. Could be. Could be. Nolan: I think this is going to be a awards season movie, but imagine you just get a random Heat 2 sequel. It's like best actor, supporting actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale. That would be actually pretty dope. That'd be pretty dope though. That'd be pretty dope. That would be a bit wild to see that happen. That would be a bit wild. It'd be pretty dope. Nolan: Last news nugget we got today, Zach Crigger, director of weapons, director of barbarian, two very small ⁓ budget horror movies that have come out within the last, I want to say, seven years? Five years? Something like that? ⁓ He did phenomenal. Both movies were very critically acclaimed. Both were high audience ratings. ⁓ He is directing the new Resident Evil movie. Reimagining. Reboot. I don't know what they want to call it. Mainly because they gave him carte blanche for this movie. Which means he can do whatever the fuck he wants. Doesn't have to stick to any sort of game or lore or anything. Which worries me, Jalen. ⁓ Because we have gotten the original ones with Mila Jovovich that were a far departure from the games. Yes, they threw in certain characters and certain zombies and creatures into the game to make it more in tune with those of the video game audience. And then we also had, you know, a random Netflix show, I think, that did it, that tried to stick into a little bit more of a different vibe, but keep things consistent. Didn't work out as well either. And now we're getting this where a great director, who's probably in his wheelhouse for this type of film, is getting pretty much the black card to go pay and do whatever he wants for this film. ⁓ Yeah, I mean, I don't know if the money is the issue, but it is more of an issue of where he's going to be as they say it. ⁓ Jesus: Mm-hmm. Spend it all baby, spend it all. Go crazy on them. Nolan: He's going to keep it obedient to the lore of the video games, but it won't be about the characters from the games because their stories have already been told in game form. ⁓ Now in One Glass Half Full, that makes sense. Why kind of tread, why go back to the well as you said earlier, right? We already know what these characters give, we know what they're doing. Jesus: Yeah. ⁓ Nolan: You play as these characters in the games from the comfort of your home. Let me make something with my own characters in the world of Raccoon City. ⁓ Half glass full. How do think you're going to get butts in the seat for Resident Evil movie though for like other than the casual viewer who wants to go see a horror zombie movie? If you want to get in tune with the the certain demographic that this film is aimed at, you're gonna want the support of those who play the games religiously over the decades. Jalen, your thoughts? Jesus: Yeah, I don't I don't know that it's maybe the greatest idea to just veer off the games and you know, and but just keep it within the lore itself but not have any of the game characters in there Because like it just doesn't work most the time You know what mean? Like they tried that with the Witcher with that animated series and it didn't really take off and they tried to do like a prequel Witcher series and that definitely didn't work Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: ⁓ When you try to do stuff a little bit too differently, it often ends up with people just saying, you should have just made the original story, you should have just done the original content that we were enjoying as video game fans. ⁓ Because at the end of the day, that's... Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: what we enjoyed, that's why we paid money to play the game for hours and hours and hours on end. So we would enjoy more to watch that versus trying to catch up into headcanon on like why we can't have what we're used to. ⁓ That being said, I think the idea is cool of like, hey, we don't need to do, you know, a shot for shot Resident Evil movie where you're basically just watching the video game you paid for at home on the big screen with a named actor or whatever. at the same time, I just... Nolan: Yeah. Yeah. Jesus: Outside of, like you said, the casual guy that might not even know what Resident Evil is, I don't think it's that popular to where you're gonna be like getting enough money to make that make sense for a studio, because that's just not gonna sell, man. either that movie has to be just immaculate from top to bottom, okay? And I'm talking like zero flaws in the armor kind of deal. Or you could just concede your ego and just like make the stuff that we know we're gonna wanna go see. You know what Nolan: Yeah, I will say this. The one thing I am very much looking forward to for this film is that, and you know, I'm not 100 % sure I haven't looked into it, in Barbarian and ⁓ weapons, the cinematography is actually very top notch to create and induce that kind of horror vibe. ⁓ I am hoping that he brings that same vibe into this to make it a little bit more fearful rather than just a straight-up action zombie flick where it's just you know For example Milo Jovovich doing flips off of buildings and just in slow-mo I don't need that. I would much rather see like a true to form kind of Resident Evil-esque style ⁓ But yeah, it is gonna be kind of interesting to see they are ⁓ aiming for the second half of this year to release this film so it means that they're probably almost done with the production part of it for shoots. Now keep in mind everybody this is for A24 based off of a viral video game that has you kind of escaping through back rooms that look exactly like this. Jalen did you see the trailer or teaser? Jesus: I did. And it looked like the video game. So, good job. Nolan: It did look like the video game. Yes. I I'll say this for what I heard and saw in the teaser alone I am very excited to see what this young lad does have it is directed by Cain Parsons who is a 20 I believe 24 year old or 20 year old 20 year old director ⁓ Very young very young and he's getting free free realm to get a crack at this IP. A24 seems to trust him, so I'm thinking that this is probably going to be something very very special near and dear to Kane's heart. ⁓ But Jayden, what did you think of the teaser other than that? Jesus: It's got some elements that can work. in a very like indie horror type of vibe. Like it's gonna be small scale, which means you can really get with the characters and start like experiencing all that stuff. And hopefully they give you that same game sense of when you used to play it of like how the ups and the downs and the tension moments of being in those back rooms. So that's what I'm hoping. And again, maybe that kid probably played it, had a good time, wants to get that on screen and seems like very much a passion project for the lad. So I hope it does well. Hope it does well. Nolan: Clearly he probably didn't go to film school or is he currently in he so probably when he was doing his social studies papers he was like you know what let display little back rooms instead and One day, maybe it'll be me and look look at you now if Cain Parsons great job But yeah, look at get a look at the teaser when you guys get the chance It is a quick little extra nothing crazy nothing scary Just kind of setting the tone for what this this movie is gonna be about Last and final trailer, last thing we're reviewing today, Jalen Mortal Kombat 2. A new trailer has released. ⁓ Now the reason why I bring this one in is because personally I think this has given everything that fans have wanted for this movie franchise. The first one, had its ups and downs, it was very cool visually, it brought all these characters to life right before your very eyes, but people were saying that they missed the tournament battle-esque of what the game should have been on screen. This trailer showed a lot more of that, while kinda giving you more of a story. ⁓ Like we're gonna get a lot balls to the wall action. ⁓ We got a lot more characters this time around, returning characters from the first movie as well. Jalen, your thoughts on this trailer? Jesus: It looks like just a little bit of an upgrade from the 90s movies, but it looks like the same vibe, same aesthetic, got crazy stuff going on, and now it's just 2026 now. That's it. by the way, if none of you have ever watched the original Mortal Kombat films from like the 90s, go do yourself a, I mean, I don't know if you want to call it a favor. I enjoyed them, but most people did not. If you want to go and entertain yourself for a little bit. go watch those two original films because they definitely have ripped a lot. Like I got this immediate flashbacks from the second film, specifically with this character that we have pulled up here on screen ⁓ because that's really when he comes into the fold. So they're really kind of taking a lot of notes, I think from the nineties productions as well on like what people were excited for back then. ⁓ But then, you know, the general audience was like, what the hell is Mortal Kombat? Why are we looking at these people doing these things? I don't understand anything. And it's, I don't get it. ⁓ But we as fans loved it. I loved both those movies dearly. They were big part of my childhood. ⁓ So yeah, again, I hope they keep up with the fatalities and the ⁓ gore of Mortal Kombat that's also part of the thing. I thought the first movie did that really well and all that kind of stuff. And obviously this time we get Johnny Cage and Sonya and all that kind of stuff. we were missing some characters from the last film. ⁓ Nolan: Damn right. Damn right. We get Hiroyuki Sonata breathing fire in the last clip of this trailer. What more could you ask for, everyone? Yeah. Jesus: It's pretty lit. It's pretty lit, guys. It's pretty lit. We get Lhikan in there as well, Raiden, ⁓ a lot of the big hitters from the game. So, it's gonna be a good one. Nolan: Kung Lao returns from the death. It's gonna be yeah. I'm thinking that this is gonna be an absolute banger. ⁓ Is it gonna be anything award season wise? Probably not, but you're not going to watch a Mortal Kombat movie for the great acting. You're going for the story of fighting. That's it. That is it. Yeah, that is all I wanted. Jesus: Absolutely not. zero chance. Zero chance. Just like the first one, I was just entertained. That's why I wanted to watch it. I wanted to see Mortal Kombat stuff. I saw Mortal Kombat stuff and it was good. Like that's what the first movie was. That's all I need the second movie to be. I don't need it to be this Oscar winning adventure story. It just needs to be standard. The regular guy gets thrown into fantasy world, subplot stuff, and then we go from there and have a great adventure and have a lot of fights and see a lot of crazy martial arts choreography. So, bang. Nolan: Precisely, precisely. But that'll do it for our review section as well as our talking points for today's segment of Post Credits. Jalen, anything you you're currently watching or you know want to recommend to the fans out there? Jesus: ⁓ Unironically, I reread ⁓ Spider-Man Blue because ⁓ I was just going through some stuff. Well, it's literally because the whole comic is in blue tone. It's color-wise, color-schemed. It ⁓ starts with Peter finding a bunch of stuff that was Gwen's in his attic while he's married to Mary Jane and going through memory lane of all the stuff leading up to her dying and how that all... Nolan: Now why is it called blue? Gotcha. Gotcha. Jesus: went through. ⁓ yeah, very, very like kind melodramatic stuff or whatever. Yeah, it's, but it's a really good story on getting to know Gwen as a character too and why she was so important to Peter. And like you realize that, you know, MJ was like the second round draft pick, you know what mean? Like she wasn't even top shelf at that point in time in his life. It was literally just Gwen and how much that actually like broke him to the core as a character. So. Nolan: Sounds dark. ⁓ Jesus: ⁓ Really good read. So if you want to go read, reread that, go ahead and do it. ⁓ Because I got asked to draw some stuff, so was like, I'm gonna run back through Spider-Man and ⁓ take a gander, and that was one of the files I had saved in my hard drive. So yeah, I reread that, had a good time. Obviously, I'm chucking through season two of Superman and Lois again, right back on that train, trying to dip my feet back into the Game of Thrones stuff a little bit to get ready for that show.
