- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello, friends from across the nation and around the world.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm Martin, and you are listening to Dad's bedtime Stories. Tonight,
- 0:13Speaker 1: we're headed back into the Spaceship universe to do a
- 0:17Speaker 1: suggestion from one of my newest Patreon sponsors. Let's check
- 0:21Speaker 1: it out here. Hi.
- 0:23Speaker 2: My name is Remy and I am six years old.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I would like a spaceship series of a rainbow planet
- 0:30Speaker 2: and this evil rain drop comes in and you have
- 0:35Speaker 2: to try to stop him from getting the Rainbow's powers
- 0:39Speaker 2: by I love your podcast.
- 0:42Speaker 1: This is the exact kind of episode my daughter would
- 0:44Speaker 1: really like, and I have not done enough of those
- 0:47Speaker 1: kinds of episodes lately, So Remy, you're gonna get your
- 0:50Speaker 1: wish now. If you like the podcast, don't forget to
- 0:54Speaker 1: rate us and review us wherever you're listening. That goes
- 0:57Speaker 1: a really long way into other people finding it. And
- 1:00Speaker 1: if you want to, you can still join our March
- 1:02Speaker 1: contest for a chance to get a guaranteed story idea.
- 1:07Speaker 1: All you have to do is share the podcast on
- 1:10Speaker 1: social media in some way and fill out the Google form.
- 1:14Speaker 1: All of that's in the description. At the end of
- 1:17Speaker 1: the month, I'm going to do a draw and whoever
- 1:20Speaker 1: wins will get a guaranteed story idea and the option
- 1:23Speaker 1: to do a little audio interview with me to tell
- 1:28Speaker 1: me about the story idea. And if you don't want
- 1:31Speaker 1: to do that but you do still want to give
- 1:33Speaker 1: me a story idea, there are links in the description
- 1:35Speaker 1: to both speak Pipe where you can leave a voice message,
- 1:38Speaker 1: or the Google form where you can sort of write
- 1:41Speaker 1: your story idea out. I listen to every single one,
- 1:45Speaker 1: I read every single one, but I can't make every
- 1:49Speaker 1: single one unfortunately, because I get way more than the
- 1:52Speaker 1: number of episodes I do in a week. But that
- 1:55Speaker 1: doesn't mean I don't want to hear them, and it
- 1:57Speaker 1: doesn't mean that yours might not get made. So give
- 2:00Speaker 1: it a shot. I really really like getting those voicemails.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It brings me joy, so yeah, leave them. I also
- 2:08Speaker 1: want to say again thank you to all of you
- 2:11Speaker 1: who are listening. The podcast has been trying to get
- 2:15Speaker 1: some ad revenue in by adding ads in at the
- 2:17Speaker 1: beginning and sort of right after the intro, and some
- 2:22Speaker 1: of the filtering for those ads has been a bit problematic.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I'm constantly working on it. We've blocked a lot more categories,
- 2:30Speaker 1: so big thank you to those of you who have
- 2:32Speaker 1: reached out and said, yeah, I got a strange ad there, Martin.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And you might think that I would just listen to
- 2:39Speaker 1: the podcast and know what ads play, But different ads
- 2:42Speaker 1: play in different areas, so I honestly don't always know,
- 2:46Speaker 1: so letting me know is hugely appreciated. We've really put
- 2:49Speaker 1: a robust blocking system into place to block a lot
- 2:53Speaker 1: of categories of ads, but if some strange things are
- 2:57Speaker 1: getting around it, please please please let me know. Bedtime
- 3:01Speaker 1: Stories at gmail dot com. Now it's that time again.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Time to get as comfy as you can in that bed,
- 3:11Speaker 1: close your eyes and imagine yourself doing what the kid
- 3:16Speaker 1: in the story does. You wake up on spaceship in
- 3:22Speaker 1: your own little spaceship bed. Inside your spaceship bedroom, the
- 3:29Speaker 1: lights turn on automatically slowly, You swing your legs over
- 3:35Speaker 1: the side of the bed, stand up and stretch. You
- 3:40Speaker 1: head over to the closet, pick out your favorite clothes
- 3:44Speaker 1: for the day, and then you head through the door
- 3:48Speaker 1: to the main part of spaceship. Good morning, Spaceship, says,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I believe I have found something extremely interesting to check out. Really,
- 4:02Speaker 1: what is it like a planet full of gum drops
- 4:05Speaker 1: or something close. It is a rainbow planet, or at
- 4:11Speaker 1: least part of it is. It seems that this planet
- 4:16Speaker 1: is half raining and half sunny, almost perpetually, leaving the
- 4:23Speaker 1: center section as a rainbow area. I am detecting anomalous
- 4:30Speaker 1: magical energy coming from this section. Interesting anomalous magical energy. Huh,
- 4:39Speaker 1: what does that mean? It means energy I cannot quite
- 4:44Speaker 1: identify or fit in a category the exact type of
- 4:49Speaker 1: thing you may wish to check out. Should I set
- 4:53Speaker 1: a course? I think you know my answer to that,
- 4:56Speaker 1: spaceship it's always yes, understood. Setting course quickly, the spaceship
- 5:05Speaker 1: veers down to the left just a little bit and
- 5:09Speaker 1: starts going even faster than it was before. Little streaks
- 5:14Speaker 1: of light fly by as you fly through what looks
- 5:18Speaker 1: like a wormhole in space. Then, just as suddenly, the
- 5:25Speaker 1: ship stops in front of a beautiful planet, a planet
- 5:31Speaker 1: with the sun on one side, rain clouds on the other,
- 5:37Speaker 1: and a gigantic ring of rainbows around the middle. I
- 5:43Speaker 1: believe I will call this the rainbow planet, spaceship says.
- 5:48Speaker 1: As it flies down closer to the surface, you grab
- 5:53Speaker 1: some breakfast from the kitchen area using the replicator, Then
- 5:58Speaker 1: you sit down on the troll seat and eat away.
- 6:03Speaker 1: As you drift towards the planet, Spaceship drops through the
- 6:08Speaker 1: atmosphere and enters the rain area first, over top of
- 6:15Speaker 1: the clouds. Everything's sunny, but the clouds themselves are dark
- 6:20Speaker 1: and gray. Spaceship steers down through them and you find
- 6:26Speaker 1: yourself in a torrential downpour, almost impossible to see what's happening. Then,
- 6:34Speaker 1: just as suddenly, you pass through a wall of water,
- 6:40Speaker 1: and all you see are rainbows, rainbows and things made
- 6:47Speaker 1: out of a rainbow and rainbow energy. Above you, the
- 6:52Speaker 1: sky has curves and arcs of rainbows going in every direction.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And below there's the most amazing area of mythical forests
- 7:05Speaker 1: with strange and wonderful animals running through them. You're pretty
- 7:10Speaker 1: sure you see a couple winged unicorns, rainbow phoenixes, and
- 7:17Speaker 1: below all sorts of mythical creatures that you've heard about
- 7:22Speaker 1: on Earth, Elves, building houses, dwarfs, and even little men
- 7:29Speaker 1: wearing green with red beards. One of them looks like
- 7:34Speaker 1: it's burying a pod of treasure. Is that a leprechad,
- 7:40Speaker 1: you say, pointing below you. I believe it may be.
- 7:45Speaker 1: My analysis shows that most of the things below us
- 7:50Speaker 1: are actually created from light, rainbow light. Though they are
- 7:56Speaker 1: physical creatures, their composition is almost entirely magical. Cool. You
- 8:06Speaker 1: find a small clearing, a clearing that itself looks like
- 8:11Speaker 1: a little helipad spaceship gently lands in the spot. You
- 8:17Speaker 1: hear a sh sound as you land, and the back
- 8:21Speaker 1: door opens up. Warm air and the smell of candy
- 8:27Speaker 1: rushes in, as if you've just walked into a candy store.
- 8:33Speaker 1: You walk down the path and look around. Everywhere. You
- 8:38Speaker 1: see rainbows darting from place to place, mythical creatures munching
- 8:44Speaker 1: on grass, gum drops growing out of trees, candy cane
- 8:49Speaker 1: shooting up out of nowhere, pretty much anything you could imagine.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And slowly something appears in front of you. Rainbow winds
- 9:02Speaker 1: around in circles and starts forming itself into a human
- 9:07Speaker 1: like shape, a human like shape made of rainbows. Hi,
- 9:15Speaker 1: the rainbow creature says, my name's Remy. Is this your
- 9:21Speaker 1: first time on the Rainbow planet? She asks, yes, You respond, Oh,
- 9:29Speaker 1: you are going to love it. The Rainbow Planet is
- 9:32Speaker 1: such a wonderful place to be. Just about anything you
- 9:36Speaker 1: can imagine can come into being right away. Really anything
- 9:42Speaker 1: I can imagine. How does that work exactly? You ask, Well,
- 9:48Speaker 1: you see, rainbows are sort of magical possibilities, Remy explains.
- 9:57Speaker 1: When light is split up into its well different frequencies,
- 10:03Speaker 1: it split up into possibilities as well. Here on the
- 10:08Speaker 1: rainbow planet, we rainbow creatures have learned to bend those
- 10:12Speaker 1: possibilities and to turn them into just about anything you
- 10:18Speaker 1: could imagine. As if to demonstrate, she waves her hands
- 10:23Speaker 1: around in the air. Rainbows gather, swirl, and weave themselves
- 10:30Speaker 1: into the shape of a unicorn, A winged unicorn, which
- 10:36Speaker 1: you're pretty sure might be called an alid corn if
- 10:39Speaker 1: you were to look it up. Would you like to
- 10:41Speaker 1: go for a ride? She asks, would I? You respond?
- 10:48Speaker 1: You walk over to the winged unicorn. It bends down
- 10:53Speaker 1: its front legs a little bit, allowing you to climb
- 10:56Speaker 1: on top. You swing your LIGs eggs over the thing.
- 11:01Speaker 1: It stands up straighter and begins to float into the
- 11:05Speaker 1: air without even needing to flap its wings. Remy floats
- 11:11Speaker 1: into the air in front of you and waves for
- 11:14Speaker 1: you to follow. The unicorn dashes through the air after her,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and you fly high above the rainbow world. You pass
- 11:25Speaker 1: a rainbow amusement park where all of the creatures are
- 11:29Speaker 1: sliding down rainbow slides, looping around rainbow roller coasters, and
- 11:37Speaker 1: just generally having a good time. You fly over a
- 11:42Speaker 1: rainbow forest that looks like it's made out of candy.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You come across a world of a whole bunch of
- 11:50Speaker 1: those leprechaun creatures where gold is everywhere. Is that real gold,
- 11:58Speaker 1: you ask, sort of. Remy says, it's real as long
- 12:04Speaker 1: as the rainbow power exists, which on this planet should
- 12:09Speaker 1: be forever, she explains. You fly past a group of
- 12:15Speaker 1: what look like bears flying around in cloud cars, strangely familiar,
- 12:22Speaker 1: until eventually you come to a huge wall of rain.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Now this is the rain wall, the place where the
- 12:32Speaker 1: rainbow world turns to the rain world. We need the
- 12:38Speaker 1: rain world for the rainbows to exist. It's the mix
- 12:41Speaker 1: of the sun and the water that really gives us
- 12:45Speaker 1: our power. But we rainbows can't enter inside. If all
- 12:51Speaker 1: the light is blocked, the magic will be blocked too.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Does anything live inside the rain world? You ask, Oh,
- 13:02Speaker 1: only the raindrops. Eh, they can be kind of grumpy.
- 13:07Speaker 1: You mean the raindrops are living, you ask, Oh, yes, oh,
- 13:12Speaker 1: yes indeed, and uh, well, we don't always get along.
- 13:18Speaker 1: As if to demonstrate the point, the water on the
- 13:23Speaker 1: ground near the wall starts to form itself into a
- 13:28Speaker 1: big ball of water. It grows two legs, two arms,
- 13:34Speaker 1: and steps forward, looking like a gigantic rain drop. You
- 13:41Speaker 1: rainbow people are always so arrogant, the raindrop says. You
- 13:48Speaker 1: think you're so cool with all your rainbow powers, But
- 13:54Speaker 1: as I just heard you say, your rainbow powers would
- 13:58Speaker 1: be nothing if it and for us rain drops, you
- 14:02Speaker 1: should be more grateful. Oh hi, there, I'm sorry about that.
- 14:09Speaker 1: We do really appreciate you rain It's just that we
- 14:14Speaker 1: can't enter your world or we'd be completely destroyed. Interesting, well,
- 14:21Speaker 1: that doesn't mean that we can't enter yours, right, guys,
- 14:28Speaker 1: the rain drop says, And slowly you see other gigantic
- 14:33Speaker 1: rain drops forming from the water, growing arms and legs
- 14:39Speaker 1: and stepping out of the rain wall. In fact, this
- 14:44Speaker 1: world seems so wonderful that I think it's time that
- 14:50Speaker 1: we rain drops took over, just for a little while.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Oh well, you're totally welcome to visit. But I don't
- 15:00Speaker 1: think taking over is a very good idea. Remy says,
- 15:04Speaker 1: Oh don't you. The rain drop replies, well, I think
- 15:11Speaker 1: that it is a good idea. Men, let's go slowly.
- 15:17Speaker 1: The rain drops start marching forward, and more and more
- 15:22Speaker 1: rain drops start to form behind them. They start to
- 15:26Speaker 1: command the water itself to fly up off of the ground,
- 15:32Speaker 1: and they begin blasting it around the world, splashing trees
- 15:37Speaker 1: and creatures with it, scaring them out of the area.
- 15:41Speaker 1: They soak a little leprechaun that mumbles something in an
- 15:45Speaker 1: Irish accent and walks away. They splash unicorns and elves
- 15:51Speaker 1: and fairies, all of which seem kind of offended, and
- 15:55Speaker 1: start to move back. That's right, rainbow people, this area
- 16:00Speaker 1: is ours now. Eh. It's feeling a little bit dry though.
- 16:07Speaker 1: With a snap of his water fingers, the rain clouds
- 16:12Speaker 1: above suddenly thunder and roar. Then, as if listening to
- 16:18Speaker 1: the raindrops commands, they start to move over over top
- 16:25Speaker 1: of the rainbow world. The wall of rain encroaches closer
- 16:31Speaker 1: and closer and closer, until it starts pouring down on
- 16:37Speaker 1: the rainbow forest. No, don't do that. None of us
- 16:42Speaker 1: can even exist if it's well, if we're covered in clouds,
- 16:50Speaker 1: maybe that's exactly how it should be. The rain drop says,
- 16:55Speaker 1: you just get to lounge around here all day long,
- 17:00Speaker 1: floating on your little rainbow clouds, riding around on your
- 17:05Speaker 1: little rainbow unicorns, and I'm tired of watching it, sick
- 17:11Speaker 1: and tired. The clouds above flash with lightning once again,
- 17:17Speaker 1: and they continue to roll over the rainbow world. Rain
- 17:22Speaker 1: shoots down on all of the trees, all of the creatures.
- 17:27Speaker 1: They try to run, but before very long at all,
- 17:32Speaker 1: they're covered in rain, covered in shadows from the clouds,
- 17:38Speaker 1: and slowly the rainbow creatures start to fade away, to
- 17:45Speaker 1: melt and disappear. The rainbow forests disappear, the leprechauns poof
- 17:52Speaker 1: out of existence, The unicorns melt, the rainbow phoenixes sort
- 17:59Speaker 1: of sizzle and then fall to the ground before disappearing
- 18:03Speaker 1: into a puddle of water themselves. And before long you
- 18:09Speaker 1: watch as Remy's form starts to fade as well, to disappear,
- 18:16Speaker 1: and well kind of melt into a puddle of water. Remy,
- 18:22Speaker 1: you say, don't worry, Remy replies, remember your imagination is
- 18:31Speaker 1: the key if if you want us to come back.
- 18:37Speaker 1: And with that, her form entirely disappears, and you find
- 18:42Speaker 1: yourself drenched in water, surrounded by nothing. The Rainbow World
- 18:49Speaker 1: has completely disappeared. The raindrops start looking around confused, may
- 18:58Speaker 1: where did all of the things go? Oh? You destroyed them.
- 19:04Speaker 1: You say you wanted to take over the world because
- 19:07Speaker 1: it looked so great, but instead you destroyed it by
- 19:12Speaker 1: completely taking over and changing the very nature of the place.
- 19:18Speaker 1: You explain, Oh, well, that's not what I wanted to do.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I wanted to eat rainbow candy and ride around on
- 19:27Speaker 1: flying unicorns and clouds, or to play in that really
- 19:31Speaker 1: cool rainbow amusement park. A any idea of how we
- 19:36Speaker 1: can get it back? The rain draw asks, Well, I'd
- 19:42Speaker 1: start by backing away and allowing the rainbows to come back. Oh, okay,
- 19:49Speaker 1: let's try that. With a snap of the rain drop's fingers,
- 19:55Speaker 1: the clouds slowly start to roll backwards, The under becomes quieter,
- 20:02Speaker 1: the lightning starts to disappear, and eventually the rain rolls
- 20:09Speaker 1: back to where the original rain line was, leaving a
- 20:14Speaker 1: whole bunch of gigantic rain drops looking around at what
- 20:18Speaker 1: is still nothing. Ah now what, the rain drop asks,
- 20:26Speaker 1: I don't know, Maybe they'll just come back. You look above,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and slowly a gigantic rainbow starts to form, but the
- 20:39Speaker 1: forests don't come back. The people don't come back. The leprechauns,
- 20:44Speaker 1: and the gold and the candy trees, and the unicorns
- 20:48Speaker 1: and the phoenixes, and the strange little bears riding around
- 20:52Speaker 1: and cloud cars don't come back. I wonder why they're not.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Say out loud, May I offer a suggestion, Spaceship says,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I believe the rainbow world itself was formed from a
- 21:12Speaker 1: mix of rainbows and imagination. Without both, it cannot exist.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I suggest using your own imagination to form the rainbows
- 21:26Speaker 1: back to what they were. I can't see how that'll work,
- 21:31Speaker 1: but I'll give it a try. You say, so, You
- 21:36Speaker 1: close your eyes, you hold your palms up to the sky,
- 21:41Speaker 1: and you start to imagine. You imagine the rainbows themselves
- 21:47Speaker 1: floating down from the sky and forming back into trees,
- 21:53Speaker 1: back into people, and unicorns, and most importantly, friend Remy.
- 22:02Speaker 1: As you focus, a strange tingling sensation appears on your fingertips.
- 22:10Speaker 1: You open your eyes and you see rainbow light flying
- 22:15Speaker 1: down from the sky. It loops around your body, fills
- 22:21Speaker 1: you up with some sort of strange rainbow power, and
- 22:26Speaker 1: shoots out in all directions. Bands of rainbow start to
- 22:31Speaker 1: swirl around into the shape of trees, which suddenly solidify
- 22:37Speaker 1: into real trees. Other loops form themselves into unicorns, lepre
- 22:46Speaker 1: cons gold, the amusement park you passed over before, And
- 22:52Speaker 1: one last loop starts to swirl around in front of
- 22:56Speaker 1: you until it forms itself into Remy. Oh oh, I
- 23:05Speaker 1: exist again. Oh thank you you figured out the puzzle
- 23:10Speaker 1: of imagination. Ah, this place doesn't look quite right though.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Mind if I help? Uh yeah, I mean, you know
- 23:18Speaker 1: it better than I did. Remy focuses her mind. She
- 23:23Speaker 1: lights up and breat rainbow colors, and rainbows shoot out
- 23:28Speaker 1: in every direction, connecting themselves with other rainbows. More trees
- 23:34Speaker 1: pop up out of the ground, cloud cars appear with
- 23:38Speaker 1: little bears in them, Phoenixes and elves, and uh well,
- 23:44Speaker 1: little troll like creatures that look wildly happy and have
- 23:48Speaker 1: really cool hair appear too, and before long, the rainbow
- 23:53Speaker 1: world looks as it did before. Now what to do
- 23:59Speaker 1: about these rain drops? Remy says, uh, well, I don't
- 24:06Speaker 1: think they knew what they were doing. I think they
- 24:10Speaker 1: were just kind of jealous. You say, yes, we were jealous,
- 24:17Speaker 1: One of the raindrops replies, and we're very sorry. We
- 24:23Speaker 1: just wanted to have fun in the Rainbow Area too. Well,
- 24:28Speaker 1: who told you that you couldn't? Remy says, you can
- 24:33Speaker 1: come to the Rainbow Area anytime, as long as you're
- 24:38Speaker 1: willing to embrace the power of the rainbow, the power
- 24:43Speaker 1: of possibilities. Rainbows swirl around Remy's body once more, and
- 24:50Speaker 1: then shoot out towards all of the rain drops. The
- 24:55Speaker 1: raindrops suddenly change color, filled with every color of the rainbow,
- 25:02Speaker 1: and begin to glow. Wait what did you do to us,
- 25:08Speaker 1: the rain drop asks, I filled you with rainbow power,
- 25:14Speaker 1: the power of possibilities, the power of imagination. You can
- 25:20Speaker 1: come to the Rainbow Area at any time and use
- 25:23Speaker 1: that power to create whatever you like. So the raindrops
- 25:31Speaker 1: begin to create. They create a gigantic forest with huge
- 25:38Speaker 1: trees and huge leaves, leaves that they can lay down
- 25:43Speaker 1: on like hammocks and enjoy the sun and rainbows above.
- 25:49Speaker 1: They create rainbow playgrounds and rainbow amusement parks, and rainbow
- 25:56Speaker 1: clouds of their own to ride around on. One of
- 26:00Speaker 1: them even creates its own rainbow unicorn. Thank you, they say,
- 26:08Speaker 1: this is all we ever wanted. Well, that's good, Remy says,
- 26:14Speaker 1: You're welcome here in the Rainbow Area. Everyone is and
- 26:20Speaker 1: so you spend the rest of the day creating rainbow constructions.
- 26:27Speaker 1: You focus your mind on making yourself your own little
- 26:32Speaker 1: rainbow cloud, one that you can step on top of
- 26:37Speaker 1: and float up into the sky. You drift high above
- 26:42Speaker 1: the rainbow world, laying beside the rainbow person remy and
- 26:50Speaker 1: slowly you get very comfortable on your rainbow cloud. Your
- 26:56Speaker 1: head rests gently on what feels like a rainbow pillow.
- 27:02Speaker 1: You allow your eyes to close, and as you drift
- 27:07Speaker 1: over the rainbow world, you begin to relax the muscles
- 27:12Speaker 1: on your body, letting the sun shine and rainbows sort
- 27:18Speaker 1: of shoot into your arms and your legs, allowing them
- 27:23Speaker 1: to relax and sink down into the cloud. And with
- 27:28Speaker 1: each breath you sink down a little bit deeper, and
- 27:34Speaker 1: your mind begins to wander off to thoughts of new dreams,
- 27:41Speaker 1: new rainbow creations, and new adventures to come. Good night, everyone, name.
- 30:08Speaker 3: M M.
- 32:25Speaker 2: M M.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Never rich Union, a name ac Minion in New More Union.
- 43:03Speaker 3: No thing
