- 0:00Speaker 1: We inherited the worst border in American history by far,
- 0:04Speaker 1: and we turned it into the strongest and most secure
- 0:07Speaker 1: border in the history of our country. And in the past,
- 0:10Speaker 1: a number just came out a couple of days ago,
- 0:13Speaker 1: in the past 17 months, zero illegal aliens have been
- 0:17Speaker 1: admitted into the United States through our settlements.
- 0:22Speaker 2: You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Good Monday morning.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Can you believe it? We're two weeks away from Election Day.
- 0:31Speaker 4: The midterms are just around the corner and President Trump
- 0:34Speaker 4: is on the campaign trail. The good news is it
- 0:37Speaker 4: seems to be having a big impact. And that means
- 0:39Speaker 4: that Republican candidates on the polls are getting a lot closer.
- 0:44Speaker 4: We break it all down for you. And you're going
- 0:46Speaker 4: to know exactly where we stand. But before we get
- 0:48Speaker 4: to that, let me just take a moment. I want
- 0:50Speaker 4: to talk to you not only about the midterms, but
- 0:52Speaker 4: also how you can have a difference every day. The stakes,
- 0:55Speaker 4: we all know they couldn't be higher. We have a
- 0:57Speaker 4: president and administration fighting hard for America first. But if
- 1:01Speaker 4: we as conservatives lose focus, well, then we know what happens.
- 1:04Speaker 4: The radical left is waiting to resume their destructive, progressive agendas. Now,
- 1:09Speaker 4: protecting this momentum, it takes more than votes. It takes
- 1:11Speaker 4: every American like you staying in the fight for our
- 1:14Speaker 4: rights and our freedoms. And that is why I switched
- 1:18Speaker 4: to Patriot Mobile. Not only are they America's only Christian
- 1:22Speaker 4: conservative wireless provider, but Patriot Mobile gives me what I need,
- 1:25Speaker 4: premium priority nationwide service in all three major networks. I
- 1:29Speaker 4: get unlimited data plans, mobile hotspots, international roaming. I've used
- 1:33Speaker 4: my phone literally right there at Gaza. Like, not a joke.
- 1:36Speaker 4: That is how good their coverage is. They also have
- 1:39Speaker 4: a 100% U.S.-based customer support team. So switching is easy.
- 1:43Speaker 4: I can keep my same phone, keep my same number.
- 1:45Speaker 4: And this is where the magic happens. When you pay
- 1:48Speaker 4: your bill, Patriot Money puts your money towards causes defending
- 1:52Speaker 4: our faith, our families, and our freedoms. They contribute millions
- 1:56Speaker 4: of dollars each year to organizations on the front lines
- 1:59Speaker 4: fighting for our God-given rights. Now, Patriot Mobile isn't just
- 2:02Speaker 4: talking about saving America. They're putting their business behind the
- 2:05Speaker 4: fight every day. So why not switch a bill that
- 2:08Speaker 4: you know you're going to have and make a difference?
- 2:11Speaker 4: So go to patriotmobile.com slash ben47 or call 972-PATRIOT. Use

- 2:29Speaker 4: It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 2:34Speaker 4: President Trump is hitting the campaign trail. Republicans are seeing
- 2:39Speaker 4: an opportunity as the midterm battleground is tightening, moving in
- 2:44Speaker 4: favor of conservative candidates. Now, this matters because for months,
- 2:49Speaker 4: Republicans and Democrats have been fighting over control of Congress,
- 2:53Speaker 4: and Democrats had the advantage. They believe they had a
- 2:55Speaker 4: real opportunity to capitalize on dissatisfaction with the party in power,
- 3:00Speaker 4: specifically over the price of the pump. That's what it
- 3:03Speaker 4: boiled down to. But then they also showed how crazy
- 3:06Speaker 4: they are with their El Saeed and their Tallarico candidates.
- 3:11Speaker 4: And that is now maybe become one of the biggest
- 3:14Speaker 4: nightmares for Democrats heading into Election Day.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Now, early voting in several states has already started.
- 3:21Speaker 4: And many Republicans, including the president, believe that, well, they
- 3:24Speaker 4: can overcome the traditional midterm disadvantage by turning out the
- 3:27Speaker 4: votes of those or the voters, I should say, who
- 3:30Speaker 4: helped send Donald Trump back to the White House. Now,
- 3:33Speaker 4: the polls in several competitive races have showed just how
- 3:37Speaker 4: close the fight for Congress is. There's a critical distinction,
- 3:41Speaker 4: by the way, between a race tightening and a candidate
- 3:44Speaker 4: becoming the favorite. Republicans are therefore using this strategy. They're
- 3:49Speaker 4: hoping that Trump's involvement can turn competitive races into victories. Now,
- 3:55Speaker 4: the president's making the case that this election is about
- 3:59Speaker 4: far more than the names appearing on the ballots. He's
- 4:03Speaker 4: making it about whether voters want Congress to continue advancing
- 4:06Speaker 4: his agenda or put Democrats in a position to challenge
- 4:10Speaker 4: it and also to weaponize the government to go after
- 4:12Speaker 4: him and his entire cabinet. So why is Trump really
- 4:15Speaker 4: back on the campaign trail? Well, let's start with the
- 4:18Speaker 4: political reality. Midterm elections are historically extremely difficult for the
- 4:24Speaker 4: party that controls the White House to win. In fact,
- 4:26Speaker 4: it's only happened two times, only once in my lifetime.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Voters often use these elections to, well, do checks and
- 4:33Speaker 4: balances on power. And also, usually the party that lost
- 4:36Speaker 4: last time is more inspired to be frustrated with the
- 4:39Speaker 4: party that is in power, a.k.a. this time it would
- 4:41Speaker 4: be Donald Trump. And so, therefore, they're more likely to
- 4:44Speaker 4: show up and vote. Now, Republicans obviously have a serious challenge.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Just what I talked about has nothing to do with
- 4:52Speaker 4: Donald Trump. That's just history we're talking about. But you
- 4:56Speaker 4: also have people that are frustrated with the economy or
- 4:58Speaker 4: really gas prices and the cost of food and basic services,
- 5:02Speaker 4: which have gone up because gas prices have gone up. Now,
- 5:06Speaker 4: Republicans have to convince Americans, and really this is Donald Trump,
- 5:11Speaker 4: that keeping Republicans in control of Congress will produce better
- 5:15Speaker 4: results than handing power over to the radical Marxist socialists
- 5:20Speaker 4: and communists. And that's really where Donald Trump comes in.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Trump has, well, demonstrated an extraordinary ability to command media
- 5:28Speaker 4: attention and mobilize his supporters. When he holds a rally,
- 5:32Speaker 4: no one can fill the room in politics like President
- 5:35Speaker 4: Donald Trump. The national political conversation instantly shifts towards whatever
- 5:42Speaker 4: he's saying on stage, and he knows that. By the way,
- 5:46Speaker 4: when Donald Trump visits the state, he can generate attention
- 5:48Speaker 4: for candidates who otherwise might struggle to break through the
- 5:51Speaker 4: national news cycle. And when he tells supporters that an
- 5:54Speaker 4: election matters, Republican campaigns hope those voters will show up.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Now here's the challenge. The electorate in a midterm election
- 6:05Speaker 4: isn't necessarily the same as those in a presidential election.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Some Americans who enthusiastically voted for Donald Trump don't always
- 6:15Speaker 4: participate in congressional races. When his name isn't actually on
- 6:18Speaker 4: the ballot, that's why Donald Trump's out there.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Republicans need those votes.
- 6:24Speaker 4: And that's what Donald Trump's central objective in the campaign
- 6:27Speaker 4: trail seems to be. He's trying to convince his supporters
- 6:31Speaker 4: that even though he isn't running on the ballot this November,
- 6:34Speaker 4: his agenda is. In other words, if you voted for
- 6:38Speaker 4: Donald Trump for four years of America first, you've got
- 6:41Speaker 4: one more vote to make to make sure you get
- 6:43Speaker 4: those four years of America first agenda items. Because if
- 6:47Speaker 4: Republicans lose control of Congress, the political landscape in Washington
- 6:54Speaker 4: changes drastically. Democrats have made it clear what they will
- 6:58Speaker 4: do if they gain control of the congressional committees. They've said,
- 7:02Speaker 4: we will launch investigations, not just into weaponizing the government
- 7:06Speaker 4: against Donald Trump, but against anybody that's around Donald Trump,
- 7:09Speaker 4: the vice president, members of the cabinet, members of Congress,
- 7:13Speaker 4: the list goes on and on. They have made it
- 7:15Speaker 4: clear that they will weaponize, I'm going to say it again,
- 7:20Speaker 4: they will weaponize Congress with to try to destroy anyone
- 7:23Speaker 4: that is an advocate for the President of the United
- 7:27Speaker 4: States of America. Now, we also know that they have
- 7:31Speaker 4: said that if you elect them, they will block legislation.
- 7:35Speaker 4: They will reshape, they said, much of the legislation that's
- 7:38Speaker 4: already been passed, and they will take away the President's
- 7:41Speaker 4: powers as much as they possibly can when it comes
- 7:44Speaker 4: to actually being able to do what he needs to
- 7:46Speaker 4: do as President of the United States of America. Now,
- 7:50Speaker 4: you got to understand, we're not even to the halfway
- 7:52Speaker 4: mark of President Trump's presidency. But if you voted for
- 7:55Speaker 4: four years of America first, as I mentioned a moment ago,
- 7:58Speaker 4: the president's argument is you better show up, otherwise you're
- 8:01Speaker 4: not going to get it. In fact, what you're going
- 8:04Speaker 4: to get is a overzealous Democratic Party that's goal is
- 8:09Speaker 4: to destroy anyone at the White House. That is the
- 8:13Speaker 4: argument that Trump is now taking directly to the voters.
- 8:18Speaker 4: And There's a second part of this. It seems that
- 8:21Speaker 4: Donald Trump going out on the campaign trail is helping.
- 8:25Speaker 4: This is something that Democrats don't want you to know.
- 8:28Speaker 4: And the media certainly isn't going to tell you. The
- 8:30Speaker 4: polls are tightening, and they're tightening in favor of Republican candidates.
- 8:35Speaker 4: National polls tell us something about the political environment. But
- 8:39Speaker 4: they can't tell us everything about who controls Congress. And
- 8:42Speaker 4: we know the House decided district by district. The Senate
- 8:44Speaker 4: decided state by state. And a candidate who looks competitive
- 8:47Speaker 4: nationally may face a difficult race because of local political conditions.
- 8:52Speaker 4: So Republicans are watching for signs that voters who previously
- 8:57Speaker 4: expressed dissatisfaction with the party are reconsidering their choices. They're
- 9:03Speaker 4: also watching whether Trump's campaign appearances increase enthusiasm among American voters,
- 9:08Speaker 4: specifically Republican voters. By the way, Democrats are watching the
- 9:12Speaker 4: same numbers. They're saying, well, if Donald Trump shows up,
- 9:15Speaker 4: does it make our base get angry and make our
- 9:17Speaker 4: base hate Donald Trump and make our base want to
- 9:19Speaker 4: vote against Donald Trump?
- 9:20Speaker 3: And that's the important point.
- 9:23Speaker 4: You look at a two or three point shift in
- 9:26Speaker 4: a competitive race that can matter enormously. Now, one poll
- 9:31Speaker 4: showing Republican improving doesn't necessarily establish a lasting trend. But
- 9:36Speaker 4: what we are seeing is multiple polls that are now tightening.
- 9:40Speaker 4: In fact, almost every Senate poll has made, as showed
- 9:43Speaker 4: Republicans over the last week or two, getting closer to
- 9:47Speaker 4: Democrats if they were behind. And some of the Republicans
- 9:50Speaker 4: that were ahead have actually gotten a larger lead. So
- 9:54Speaker 4: what does that really have to do with and how
- 9:56Speaker 4: has this happened?
- 9:57Speaker 3: Well, that brings us to the economy.
- 9:59Speaker 4: It is the economy, stupid. The economy is front and center.
- 10:03Speaker 4: President Trump is going out there and he's saying, hey,
- 10:07Speaker 4: we know it's the economy, but we also know we
- 10:09Speaker 4: have a genuine objective that we must keep Americans safe.
- 10:15Speaker 4: That is why we went into this war with Iran,
- 10:18Speaker 4: to make sure they did not get a nuclear weapon.
- 10:20Speaker 3: And that is important.
- 10:22Speaker 4: How much does it cost to build the car is
- 10:24Speaker 4: also a really important question. The president has admitted that now.
- 10:28Speaker 4: How much does it cost to buy groceries? That's something
- 10:30Speaker 4: the president's talked about. And he wants to make sure
- 10:32Speaker 4: the numbers get better. The president said he wants to
- 10:35Speaker 4: make sure that you can afford a house. He wants
- 10:38Speaker 4: to make sure that your wages, which, by the way,
- 10:40Speaker 4: the medium income in this country is the highest level
- 10:42Speaker 4: in history right now. And the president wants to make
- 10:45Speaker 4: sure you understand that he's the reason why those wages
- 10:47Speaker 4: have gone up instead of down. Now, ultimately, Americans go
- 10:53Speaker 4: and vote on their family's financial future. Is it improving
- 10:57Speaker 4: or is it getting worse? Are your wages keeping up
- 11:00Speaker 4: with your expenses? Now, Trump's economic argument is centering around
- 11:04Speaker 4: all of that. And he said, look, I'm the guy
- 11:07Speaker 4: that lowered your taxes. I'm the guy that gave you
- 11:11Speaker 4: fewer regulations that allowed for American jobs to grow. I'm
- 11:16Speaker 4: the guy that gave you American manufacturing back while the
- 11:18Speaker 4: other party was doing anything to shut it down. I'm
- 11:21Speaker 4: the guy that's in favor of massive domestic energy production,
- 11:24Speaker 4: while the other guy said we want to make sure
- 11:26Speaker 4: that we shut it down. This president, Donald Trump, has
- 11:29Speaker 4: said my trade policies have been designed to protect American
- 11:33Speaker 4: workers and protect American industries.
- 11:35Speaker 3: And bring more jobs home.
- 11:38Speaker 4: President Trump argued that his approach created jobs.
- 11:41Speaker 3: It did, by the way.
- 11:43Speaker 4: It encouraged massive American investment. And he said it made
- 11:47Speaker 4: America much more competitive on the world stage. Now, Democrats
- 11:51Speaker 4: have gone back to one simple argument. They argue that
- 11:55Speaker 4: voters should judge President Trump by what they're paying at
- 11:58Speaker 4: the pump, that you should look at nothing else. By
- 12:01Speaker 4: the way, never forget that under Biden and Obama, $ 5
- 12:05Speaker 4: a gallon gas was a normal part of their policy.
- 12:08Speaker 4: They wanted to force you into green alternative energy. And
- 12:13Speaker 4: make no mistake, they have no problem with the gas
- 12:15Speaker 4: prices we're seeing right now. They have no problem with it.
- 12:21Speaker 4: So as the polls are opening for early voting in
- 12:24Speaker 4: multiple states this week, some even opened last week, the
- 12:29Speaker 4: number one thing is you better get out and vote.
- 12:31Speaker 4: And if you voted for Donald Trump and you want
- 12:34Speaker 4: his policies to succeed, then you better vote one more time.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Because if you stay home, the radical Marxist, socialist, communist left,
- 12:42Speaker 4: they're not.
- 12:43Speaker 3: They are showing up to vote.
