- 0:00It's most things Kenobi, an elegant podcast for a more
- 0:04civilized fandom. Hi everyone, welcome to another
- 0:22episode of Most Things Kenobi, a podcast about Obi Wan Kenobi and
- 0:26all things Star Wars. I'm your host, Lauren.
- 0:29And I'm your host, Leanne. And this week we are talking
- 0:33about Luke Skywalker. Yay, round of applause.
- 0:38Yay. But before we get into that, we
- 0:43wanna talk about our Patreon because it is booming and it's
- 0:47really fun and. It sure is.
- 0:50It is so much fun. We did a revamp back in August
- 0:56and it has been such a good time over there.
- 0:59We have new content and it's just hilarious.
- 1:03It's just been it. Really is.
- 1:05It's been a lot of fun recording the new stuff with you.
- 1:09Like I really think like I've been having a great time.
- 1:12So it's. Me too.
- 1:13It it's really gratifying to kind of sit down and and do
- 1:17something different for a change.
- 1:19But it's still Star Wars, so it's like, you know.
- 1:21It is, but it's video because we've had people say why don't
- 1:25you ever show your faces like because you have to pay to see
- 1:28this. Yeah, we're just listen this
- 1:30face. Don't come for free please.
- 1:37I know right? Like no, we do show our faces
- 1:40sometimes for free. Yeah.
- 1:43But Speaking of, we are actually hosting a watch party.
- 1:48We finally figured it out. I'm so excited.
- 1:51We got it, we figured it out. It's going to happen.
- 1:54I'm so excited for this. Me too, finally.
- 1:57It's been like years. It's been years for years.
- 2:01Yes, and I hope all of our Jenny Masters can join us 'cause it's
- 2:04going to be a riot. I mean honestly, 'cause you and
- 2:08I started our friendship off doing watch parties in this
- 2:11similar way. Exactly, we would get on Netflix
- 2:14watch party, right? I think that's.
- 2:16Yeah, something like it was, Yeah, it was like a Chrome
- 2:18extension back in the day or something.
- 2:20It. Was it was it was wonky as fuck.
- 2:23It used to like stop working. Well, granted we did rewind
- 2:27maybe too many times. We did watch stuff.
- 2:30It was pause, rewind, pause, rewind, pause, rewind on Obi Wan
- 2:34stuff and then I think we hosed it by doing that.
- 2:38Yeah, we just broke it so. Yeah, it gave up.
- 2:43But the program we're going to use is actually really user
- 2:46friendly and it's going to be kind of like a private room
- 2:50where we watch stuff and there'll be a chat on the side
- 2:52so we can be chatting with each other and everybody who is
- 2:56joining in as we watch. We're talking about either doing
- 3:00the Kenobi series, starting it and like working our way through
- 3:04it over the next few months, or a Clone Wars arc.
- 3:07And we have a poll on our Patreon for our Jedi Masters,
- 3:12and it's tied right now. Of course, it is 50.
- 3:17We need some tiebreakers to come in there and tell us what we
- 3:20should watch it. If it doesn't break by the time
- 3:23we're going to host the watch party, Leanne and I will just
- 3:26make an executive decision. We'll we'll flip a coin on
- 3:29camera and wherever it lands, that's the one we watch.
- 3:32How about that? That's that's good to me.
- 3:35OK. We if we watch one, we will
- 3:38eventually watch the other. I've had two people say how can
- 3:41I pick? Don't worry, we'll get to both.
- 3:45Yes, yeah, without a doubt. We'll be watching both, so no
- 3:49worries. There Yeah, it's going to be
- 3:51great. So please come over to our
- 3:54Patreon, give us a join, join in the fun.
- 3:56We have 3 tiers. We have a Padawan, a Knight and
- 3:59a Jedi Master and it's just really fun.
- 4:01So people who come over and join us.
- 4:04And thank you for all who already join us and have joined
- 4:07us recently. We appreciate you so much.
- 4:10You guys literally make every day so much fun.
- 4:13It really. There's a link to our Patreon in
- 4:17the show notes, just so you know if you need to find it.
- 4:20All right, one more item of business.
- 4:21We would like to read another Apple review, and I think you
- 4:25have. It this time I do.
- 4:27This time this message is by Blazing Megan 523.
- 4:32Blazing Megan 523 says literally can't stop listening.
- 4:38Found this podcast a few days ago and I'm hooked now.
- 4:41This was this was a review from 2024 so hopefully she's still
- 4:45listening. Found this podcast a few days
- 4:48ago and I'm hooked. I've listened to 35 episodes
- 4:51over the course of like 5 days. Parentheses don't judge me lol
- 5:00and it has become something I look forward to during my
- 5:02commutes and downtime. It's nice to find like minded
- 5:05people, especially women who are also obsessed with Star Wars.
- 5:09I love listening and laughing with y'all.
- 5:11Well blazing Megan 523 that is especially sweet and means a lot
- 5:17to US. 35 episodes of me and Lauren being me and Lauren.
- 5:22Somebody give this person a Gold Star, because bravo.
- 5:29I don't even think I could listen to that many in that
- 5:31short a period of time. I can't even listen to one of
- 5:35our replays because I get all weird about it.
- 5:37So listen, Blazing Megan, thank you.
- 5:39We really appreciate that. We're glad to keep you company
- 5:42on your commutes and in your downtime.
- 5:44That's why we're here. We'll talk about what we love
- 5:47and joining in with everybody else who loves it too.
- 5:50Exactly. Thanks, Megan.
- 5:52Yeah, Blazing Megan. Blazing Megan.
- 5:55Blazing Megan? Yes.
- 6:01All right, shall we start talking about Luke Skywalker
- 6:03now? Yes.
- 6:06The topic of the day is how Luke is like Anakin and Padme.
- 6:10We've done an episode about Leia in regards to this and now it's
- 6:14time to talk about Luke. And I'm so excited because we
- 6:16haven't talked about Luke for a really long ass time.
- 6:19I know. You know what's crazy is it's
- 6:22not crazy. Nothing about what I'm about to
- 6:24say is crazy. I was re watching clips from the
- 6:27Ahsoka series and only the Luke scenes from Mandalorian and Boba
- 6:35Fett. I should have done that.
- 6:37Man, I'm telling you, if you haven't seen them in a while,
- 6:40like I haven't seen them for a while, they are so good.
- 6:44It's so I got my fill. So that's what that was my
- 6:47preparation. I had to be, you know, not
- 6:50nothing against Mark Hamill, of course he is Luke Skywalker.
- 6:54But I was in the mood to like go back and see Rosario as yeah, so
- 6:58good. And it kind of just went on from
- 7:00there. I want I wanted to see Hayden as
- 7:02as Anna I. Was going to say.
- 7:04I mean it's. That episode where Luke is
- 7:07fighting Hayden again. I just saw a clip of that the
- 7:10other day and it's so God damn good.
- 7:12It's so it's fucking. Anyway, it's not about these
- 7:15three. We're talking about Luke.
- 7:16But The thing is, is it reminded me all over again why I love
- 7:20Luke so much. And it wasn't even the Mark
- 7:22Hamill stuff, which is why I love Luke so much.
- 7:26I mean anything Luke Skywalker related, no matter what it is,
- 7:30if it's book or whatever it yes, it has to iterate off of Mark
- 7:35Hamill. Absolutely, yeah.
- 7:37Yep, he's such he is the OG. Like he the the Star Wars theme
- 7:42is Luke Skywalker's theme. It is so.
- 7:46'Cause he wanted a theme. And didn't George Lucas say,
- 7:49excuse me, Mark, hi. John, Star Wars.
- 7:54Oh, it was John Williams. OK, It was.
- 7:55I knew it was one of the big, the big ones there.
- 7:57And he's like, yeah, excuse me, Mark, the theme is your theme.
- 8:02That's that's high honor. That's a big, that's a big, big
- 8:05honor. Yeah, and that's where your head
- 8:08just goes. But then I got immediately sad
- 8:11and depressed in Star Wars's pain, because then I started
- 8:14thinking about his parents. And that's why we're here today.
- 8:20Yeah, I mean, we're here to suffer.
- 8:22That's it's our lot in life, as Rapier says.
- 8:26Well, where would you like to start?
- 8:29I guess we have talked a little bit about how Leia has that very
- 8:33visible Anakin kind of fiery temper, and how we've mentioned
- 8:38in the pack past that Luke is very much like Padme in a sense.
- 8:42But also, I was thinking about that the other day and I was
- 8:45thinking how he becomes like Padme, but I think he starts a
- 8:50lot like Anakin. Yeah, I agree.
- 8:54I think the first thing that has ever stood out to me about Luke
- 8:59and how he's like his parents is like the first thing that popped
- 9:03into my head. And then I had once I thought
- 9:05about it is really is a characteristic of both Padme and
- 9:08Anakin. But what started me thinking was
- 9:12Padme had a disposition to run to absolutely anyone's aid.
- 9:18And I think it became more reserved the older she got in,
- 9:21the more into the Senate. She she, her position became,
- 9:26you know, like we see Padme in the Clone Wars, how she's a
- 9:29little more reserved, but she wants to speak up.
- 9:32She has kind of bail to guide her in that respect because he's
- 9:35been doing it longer. He's a he's a little bit older.
- 9:38She has advisors, she has her her ladies when she's back in
- 9:42Naboo. And she is ready to just help
- 9:47people. And the thing about Luke,
- 9:50especially in the original trilogy, is he's ready to do
- 9:53that no matter what. Yeah.
- 9:56And then I think about it more and it's like, well, Anakin was
- 9:58like that. But the part that Luke shares
- 10:01with Anakin is he doesn't really think about it.
- 10:04He just wants to go do it. So there's that haughtiness like
- 10:09that hastiness that Anakin possesses.
- 10:12But the desire and the goodwill and I must help these people, I
- 10:16must come to their aid is very Padme coated.
- 10:20Yeah, I, I totally agree. And it's, it's interesting as
- 10:24you're talking about this, to see how Anakin and Padme are
- 10:27actually very, very similar, at least to begin with.
- 10:30And they kind of diverge as they get older.
- 10:33But they both have that keen desire to help, the ability to
- 10:38help, and then the kind of resourcefulness to make
- 10:42something happen in an impossible situation.
- 10:44You've seen them both do that, especially like Clone Wars shows
- 10:48you Padme doing that much more. And Luke is that way too.
- 10:51I mean, the fact that in A New Hope, when they're rescuing
- 10:54Leia, he comes up with this plan, you know, with Chewie and
- 10:57Han. And yeah, it doesn't go perfect,
- 11:01but it works out in the end because of Leo technically, but
- 11:04of course, but he has the boldness to even try.
- 11:10And this is a total stranger. You know, he's going off of
- 11:13basically what Obi Wan told him. It's kind of amazing that it
- 11:17works out. He's lucky, I guess, that it
- 11:19works out. Yeah.
- 11:21It's the same kind of boldness that could easily just get you
- 11:24killed, which is very similar to Anakin.
- 11:26Very. I mean very.
- 11:29Yeah, but I also love that about all these characters.
- 11:33It's kind of what makes them endearing is that they think of
- 11:36themselves last. Yeah, yes.
- 11:40And and I always think about how you and I talk about how Luke
- 11:45went into that throne room with Palpatine invader not expecting
- 11:49to come out alive. Like he had settled it with
- 11:51himself. He was going in there to give it
- 11:54one last shot and was OK with dying if that's what it took,
- 11:59right? Yeah.
- 12:00And I, I really, really think about Padme in the Blue Shadow
- 12:04virus arc, where she was going in and was going to save these
- 12:09people. She was going to stay in there
- 12:12if that's what it took. Yeah.
- 12:14It didn't matter if these people were high rank, low rank, who
- 12:19they were to her, were they anybody to her?
- 12:22You know, it was just one of those things where it didn't
- 12:24even cross her mind. You know, like here's the job we
- 12:27have to get it done, which is very Jedi like.
- 12:29It's very Jedi like, you know, You can compare her to Ahsoka or
- 12:33Ahsoka to her in that respect as well.
- 12:35Definitely. Which is, which is interesting
- 12:38if you think about how Luke and Ahsoka end up befriending each
- 12:42other and having things to talk about.
- 12:44And you and I just recently, in a previous episode not too long
- 12:47ago, said how similar those two actually are.
- 12:51Yeah, they're as close to like, siblings as you could get.
- 12:56Really. Though never met each other.
- 12:59I know it's really cool if you think about it, because there's
- 13:05that selflessness that Luke possesses that I, I like, admire
- 13:09so much and a kindness towards a kind disposition.
- 13:14You know, Leia's a little more like, I'm going to judge you
- 13:16until I figure out what you're what, what we're doing here.
- 13:19But Luke is just some would call it naive.
- 13:22I don't think it's naivety. I think it's just someone with a
- 13:25kind heart who's predisposed to not being misled or manipulated.
- 13:32He's he knows he's not manipulated by people.
- 13:35He's just kind. Yeah, it's not like he, yeah,
- 13:39'cause I think naivety implies that you don't know when
- 13:42someone's taking advantage of you and he knows.
- 13:44Oh, he knows. Yeah, he's.
- 13:46Smart and he's intuitive, so he knows when.
- 13:51Like he anticipates basically everything that Jabba the Hutt
- 13:54is gonna do 'cause he's not naive.
- 13:58And that's implied more in like some of the comics where like he
- 14:02knew what Java's tactics were even as a kid.
- 14:05He speaks Hatiz, even though like these crazers talk about
- 14:09that. Like he at least understands it.
- 14:11If it doesn't speak it, he knows and anticipates and he's not
- 14:14taken advantage of as we're talking about this.
- 14:16I'm like, that's Anakin, but it's also Padme.
- 14:19Like there there's. Padme is very diplomatic and
- 14:21meets people where they are to talk about it first.
- 14:25Again, kind of like what we want, but yeah, they all share
- 14:29similarities like you said. But Padme is going to try and
- 14:31talk through something first. She's not stupid.
- 14:34We saw that when she was a very young queen on Naboo.
- 14:38For her age, she was so in tune and in charge and willing to
- 14:42take risks and meet, do the long meetings that nobody wants.
- 14:47This meeting could have been an e-mail type shit on Naboo.
- 14:50You know, she's willing to do all that if it means achieving
- 14:54some sort of peaceful resolution.
- 14:56And I think that's 100% Luke. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:01I think there's an interesting flip to that also because there
- 15:03are lots of instances where Luke is really impatient, and that is
- 15:08so Anakin, because there's obviously, I mean, what comes to
- 15:13mind first is how he rushes off to save Han and Leia.
- 15:15But I think it's even more telling how he's really
- 15:18impatient with Yoda to begin with, before he knows he's Yoda.
- 15:22That's so true. Yes, yes.
- 15:25But the thing I love about him that you could argue is like
- 15:29Anakin and Clone Wars, but really to me it feels more like
- 15:32Padme that he learns from that and is actively different by
- 15:38Return of the Jedi when he meets the Ewoks.
- 15:40Very true. He could.
- 15:42Be as dismissive as Han. But he's telling Han no.
- 15:45Like there's something to learn from everybody.
- 15:47Like, calm down, just go with it for a minute.
- 15:51Yep, that's something I love about Luke's character because
- 15:55he has such a crazy growth arc which not every character gets
- 16:00to have. He starts as like this kind of
- 16:02impatient teenager and by the end he's this completely
- 16:06collected, calm, passive Jedi who is no longer like, seeking
- 16:10action. He just knows when he has to do
- 16:13the thing that's hard, he'll go and do it.
- 16:16You know, like going to the throne room, he was fully
- 16:18capable of dealing with that situation.
- 16:21As we saw, he just intended to go there as a passive agent.
- 16:26I love that he has moments of impatience.
- 16:29He's not perfect. And that's why I love this
- 16:31character. And that is such a mixture of
- 16:35Anakin and Padme in there to me. Yeah, they can both.
- 16:39Both Anakin and Padme are very composed when they need to be.
- 16:44Anakin loses that composure much faster than had me, and I think
- 16:50Luke grows more into keeping that composure a little bit
- 16:54longer with each arc, you know, with each original trilogy
- 16:58movie, if you will, and even into the sequels.
- 17:01It's really nice to see kind of how well-rounded he ends up
- 17:05being in the sequels. I mean for what they are and
- 17:08what they're not, right? Yeah.
- 17:11He's like the most patient when he's trying to help Ray, when he
- 17:17talks to her, sits with her. This is Force ghost Luke.
- 17:20He lifts the plane out and has his moment, you know, out of the
- 17:23water and that sort of thing. And it's full circle, right?
- 17:26Because Yoda was old, was trying to teach and show a young
- 17:30potential Jedi, a young potential Force user, etcetera.
- 17:34He goes literally from being so impatient with Yoda over all
- 17:37this business, you know, to actually doing it himself.
- 17:41Cool fucking circle, literally. But I don't know if Anakin had
- 17:47been given the chance and and and had therapy and it's
- 17:51somewhere in that temple, like we always say.
- 17:54I think he could have been really composed and quiet, you
- 17:59know thoughtful like a Jedi of different ranks like Qui Gon or
- 18:05Obi Wan. You know the pensive, quiet,
- 18:07thoughtful but not afraid to kick ass type of Jedi.
- 18:11Yeah I totally agree that I I think of as how Luke is.
- 18:16I mean this is non Canon because it's legends now, but he's a he
- 18:20is one of the few Jedi who's a grandmaster like Yoda.
- 18:25Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, true.
- 18:27And I know it's not Canon in the sequels I guess, but like Can
- 18:33you imagine Anakin reaching grandmasters?
- 18:36No, no. The answer's no.
- 18:39Yeah, he doesn't even really reach master status, let's be
- 18:42real. But.
- 18:44Poor thing, too soon. I know, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 18:48But it's, it's that Anakin wants clout and that's not, that's not
- 18:55as present in Clone Wars until maybe like the very end, but
- 18:59that's very present in Revenge of the Sith.
- 19:03And Luke does not walk out like he's not remotely interested in
- 19:08it. He's just interested in
- 19:11learning. And he happens to be a hero
- 19:16right away 'cause he's a child who blows up the Death Star.
- 19:21Luckily the first time around, got lucky.
- 19:24But like, he doesn't do it for fame.
- 19:26He does it 'cause it's the right thing to do to stay as part of
- 19:29that fight, right? Yeah, The thing is, is Anakin
- 19:34thought he was owed something. And Luke never ever walked
- 19:40around pretending like anyone owed him anything.
- 19:43They didn't. And he didn't feel that they
- 19:45did, you know, and that's very Padme.
- 19:48I don't think Padme ever. She she thought that the people
- 19:52were owed respect. This group of citizens on this
- 19:56planet were owed, you know, food, water, shelter, things
- 20:00that. Things they need that they need.
- 20:03But she never walked around thinking, well, I'm going to
- 20:06become a chancellor, so no, please.
- 20:09She would have traded it all in if it meant peace overall, you
- 20:14know what I mean? Absolutely.
- 20:16She's really selfless and like service was her yes, yes, motto
- 20:21from she was a queen as a child, crazy.
- 20:26And knowing that she was a temporary queen, you know, it
- 20:29wasn't like, you know, queen for life.
- 20:31It's like she was. I don't I've not read anything.
- 20:35I don't know how she became queen, if it's an election or,
- 20:38or what, but she goes from being a queen, which is basically a
- 20:43diplomatic position to a senator and never once does it for
- 20:49herself. It is always in service to
- 20:51others. And I think that is very
- 20:53apparent in Luke, just as his nature.
- 20:56I don't think he's even actively trying to, like, be there for
- 21:00others. He just is that way.
- 21:02And whether it's, you know, the rebellion as a whole where he
- 21:07says it's you're turning your backs on them when he says to
- 21:10Han like it's the right thing to do, to stay here all the way up
- 21:14to just his personal battles between him and his demons and
- 21:19his father and all of that. It's it's never intended to be
- 21:23seen on a hollow net or anything like that.
- 21:26Like, no, it's just his own acts of service to others.
- 21:31Because I think that's just how he is.
- 21:32Yeah. I don't know how many more times
- 21:34I have to say it. I'm just repeating myself.
- 21:36You bring up you bring up excellent points, ones that
- 21:40actually connect the true meaning of a senator in this
- 21:44case to a true meaning of a Jedi in this case as well.
- 21:48Service to others, selflessness in order to provide that that's
- 21:53what a Jedi supposed to do. And that's what these senators
- 21:57for the Republic were meant to do.
- 21:59Do they all do it? No, no, we have the fucking pond
- 22:02crawls of the of the world on this side.
- 22:04And then we have the Palpatines and the other corrupt ones that
- 22:07were, you know, infiltrating and being moles and stuff from the
- 22:10Senate. And it brings the other ones
- 22:13down and gives the good ones a bad name.
- 22:16But in that respect, both Luke and Leia have that shared trait
- 22:22that both Anakin and Pad may also share with each other.
- 22:25It's no surprise they they actually fell for each other.
- 22:29All circumstances aside, I can see why the respect was mutual.
- 22:33You think about Obi Wan and Satine, there was a mutual
- 22:37respect. They're both kind of leaders of
- 22:40trying to stop war, stop famine, stop hurt people hurting this
- 22:45that the other, you know, in positions where they were most
- 22:49able to do so. There's obvious reasons why they
- 22:53were attracted to. I mean they were both attractive
- 22:55humans anyway. Same with Anakin and Padme, but
- 22:59like it's. Ridiculous.
- 23:01You have to have respect for each other.
- 23:03It's definitely fiction. No one is that beautiful.
- 23:05No real. No, listen, bottom line footer
- 23:08on all of this is no one is this pretty except all of these
- 23:14people who are hooking up with each other in Star Wars.
- 23:18Damn. But you know what I mean.
- 23:22I'm trying to say there has to be a level of respect there and
- 23:26when Padme loses the respect for Anakin and shit goes downhill
- 23:29with the Clovis stuff. Yes.
- 23:32You know, imagine Luke losing respect for someone.
- 23:35I think that's why Han took it to heart when Luke said you got
- 23:39to stay at hat. You can't just leave.
- 23:41You think about this, I don't think Han wanted to lose the
- 23:45respect of of Luke because Luke was a good kid.
- 23:50Han really respected him. I love that whole aspect of
- 23:54their relationship because, you know, Han is like the older
- 23:56brother who's kind of always giving him shit.
- 23:58But I really think deep down Han is kind of, I don't know how to
- 24:02describe it. It's like not, he's not
- 24:04protective of Luke. He's not I don't even know if he
- 24:07would think of them as equals, but he there's something there
- 24:11where he has a connection with Luke and it's important enough
- 24:17that he risks his life and comes back for them.
- 24:20Yes, that this kid, he's like 18 at the time, convinces this
- 24:25pirate adult scoundrel that is worth risking everything to help
- 24:33the rebellion like a a kid convinced him to do that.
- 24:36There's something to that, you know, I think it's.
- 24:38Really, Hans Hans been around the block.
- 24:41He's probably seen a well, if you take into consideration the
- 24:45Canon movie of his early life, right?
- 24:50Throw that movie out or not, but think about.
- 24:53It once I'm sorry. I know, me too.
- 24:55But The thing is this Hans not been around the best crowd and
- 24:59he's had a lot of Hard Knocks and here comes Luke Bold.
- 25:03He makes decisions, he comes out of nowhere, comes up with a
- 25:07plan, steals the Princess away from this ship that Han had to
- 25:10be like, monetarily persuaded to do.
- 25:15And I think you really respected Luke.
- 25:17And he wasn't going to lose that respect because it meant
- 25:19something to him. He probably had never seen
- 25:22anyone like Luke before. Yeah.
- 25:25And he, I think their first interaction where they're kind
- 25:27of bickering about Luke's, like, I could fly the ship myself.
- 25:31We don't need you. And he sees he's actually not
- 25:34useless. He is not squeamish.
- 25:38He gets put in a trash compactor and just deals with it.
- 25:42You know, like he rolls with the punches even though he's a farm
- 25:45kid, a hay seed, you know, with grass behind his ears.
- 25:49He is more than capable of holding his own even though he's
- 25:53very young. I love all of this.
- 25:58Got it. Just Star Wars.
- 25:59I really do, especially when it comes down to the core people
- 26:03that got us to watch in the 1st place, you know, the the core
- 26:06characters. I should say.
- 26:08I also think, and obviously no one here is related, but I think
- 26:14that Mark Young, Mark Hamill shares more facial feature
- 26:17traits with Natalie Portman and Carrie Fisher shares more facial
- 26:23feature traits with Hanakin, Hayden Christensen Hanakin, you
- 26:32know what I'm saying? She has a strong jaw, she has a
- 26:34strong face, a brow. And then like, Mark Hamill has
- 26:38this little heart-shaped face with a like a chin and the
- 26:41little chin and the little butt chin, which I mean, I mean,
- 26:46Hayden has. Cleft chin I hate.
- 26:47Butt chin. Oh, sorry, does doesn't fucking
- 26:52Hayden have a have a cleft chin? He is a strong.
- 26:55Let me look him up just to be sure.
- 27:00Yeah, he's got kind of a square chin.
- 27:02But I think, I think honestly, Leia's a little more visually
- 27:06representative of Anakin, and then Luke is visually
- 27:12representative of Leia. Because you know how siblings
- 27:14kind of come out? One looks like one parent more
- 27:16than the other, and the other one looks like the other.
- 27:18It's like, yeah, weird. I don't have any siblings, so
- 27:22it's just me. There's only one I know.
- 27:26Now, again, none of these people are are related if that's weird.
- 27:29But like, if I look at fan art, it's always like, Luke's a
- 27:33little bit like Padme, but he has Anakin's hair.
- 27:36And then Leia looks like Anakin, but she has Padme's hair, which
- 27:39I love. I love all of that.
- 27:41I love all that. I feel so good.
- 27:43And honestly, like, you know, Anakin and Padme are beautiful
- 27:46and Luke and Leia are beautiful and they're just a beautiful
- 27:51family full of fucking. Drama and poor Obi Wan over in
- 27:55the wings trying to deal with all of it.
- 28:01Just let me die and become a foreign please.
- 28:07Can I go now? Just like, Nope, shit.
- 28:12Even then, he's still trapped with them for eternity.
- 28:19Oh, but he wouldn't have it any other way, right?
- 28:23I yeah, baby, I guess that's probably true.
- 28:29Another thing that I thought of when it comes to Luke and Padme
- 28:32is we always see Leia with a blaster and Luke with a light
- 28:37Saber, but Luke busts out that that same old blaster in Empire
- 28:41Strikes Back especially. When he's.
- 28:44Running down the hallways and stuff.
- 28:45That's very Padme. That's very.
- 28:47That's true. Yeah, his gun.
- 28:50His his blaster is just as iconic, I think, as his light
- 28:53Saber. Yeah.
- 28:55What form does Luke use? That's a good question.
- 29:00Is he strongest in one form versus another?
- 29:04I've never looked it up, so according to my quick Google
- 29:08search which you know is giving me some AI.
- 29:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. Slop, he uses a hybrid form
- 29:17primarily based in Form 5, which is the one that Anakin uses.
- 29:21So it's like it's a more aggressive style.
- 29:23It's called SIM Gym, so gym. So I don't know how to say it,
- 29:27but but yeah, it's like Anakin. But then he also studied with
- 29:32Yoda, so he uses Ataru as well. Cuz it's all acrobatics.
- 29:36Cuz that's. Oh yes, that's true.
- 29:38Focus was so. Yeah, very true.
- 29:41Yeah, and then Obi Wan was teaching him the basics of
- 29:44Soreisu, I guess when they were first working together.
- 29:46That's what this quick Google search says.
- 29:49That would make sense. I mean, these were his three.
- 29:53Well, I guess he never knew Anakin, but.
- 29:56A predisposition. He would fight like Anakin.
- 29:59Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:01That's curious. Seem to me like the kind, even
- 30:03though he's passive, he doesn't seem like the kind of person who
- 30:06would fight with Suraisu. I don't I don't find him a
- 30:09Suraisu person. No, I I believe he he would be
- 30:12very Anakin like in his. Yeah.
- 30:14And I can see, you know, with Yoda, Luke had that that live,
- 30:19strong, compact figure, which would lend very well to what is
- 30:24it, Form 4 and Ataru. Yeah, I think he would excel at
- 30:31that if he if he defaulted to that as opposed to Form 5.
- 30:35So I'm not surprised to hear that those are the two that he
- 30:38leaned towards. Oh, Anakin would be so proud.
- 30:40Oh. I know.
- 30:42Anakin's so good, though. Well, Hayden.
- 30:45Hayden, the king of all Saber twirling.
- 30:49Seriously, even just watching a small snippet of him on in the
- 30:53Ahsoka series, it was just like, Oh yeah, that was something
- 30:56special. And Hayden knows it, but he's so
- 31:00humble about it. He's so humble about it kills
- 31:03me. It's so not Anakin.
- 31:07I love it. I.
- 31:08Eat this stuff every now and then someone can coax him to do
- 31:11a twirl like on stage in front of an audience and blood knows
- 31:14their shit and faint. Right there.
- 31:16Isn't my shit over here right now anyway?
- 31:20What were you going to say? Nothing I mean I just I guess
- 31:25the the hybrid is very much like Obi Wan because Obi Wan is yes
- 31:31he is Seraisu but Obi Wan knows how to use most of the forms and
- 31:34he adjusts what he's doing to the situation and I feel like
- 31:38Luke does that also. Yes.
- 31:40I mean, if you're going to become a grandmaster, whether
- 31:42it's Canon or not, you got to be able to bounce between all of
- 31:47them and read your opponent well, just like Obi Wan.
- 31:49And he was Obi Wan's, you know, under his tutelage for some
- 31:53time. Well and who knows like we I
- 31:55mean maybe this is more prevalent in the books because I
- 31:58I'm here to say I've not read very much legends so I don't
- 32:01know. But just because the story ends
- 32:05in Return of the Jedi doesn't mean that Luke doesn't keep
- 32:08training with Obi Wan since their ghost is hanging out with
- 32:11him. It's very.
- 32:12Possible that that training continues.
- 32:14He trained with Leia. Yeah.
- 32:17Exactly. And Leia didn't.
- 32:20Leia wasn't sleeping on him either.
- 32:23No, she was actually so powerful she scared herself.
- 32:26Yeah, that's fucking crazy. Oh my God.
- 32:29I love these two so much. Oh my God.
- 32:33Oh my God. Everybody who thinks that the
- 32:37Skywalker saga can end can just the doors over there, you can
- 32:40see yourself out. OK, yes, there's a lot of really
- 32:46nice cool new characters, but the doors over there, if you
- 32:49think that the the three main characters, the three of the
- 32:52original 3. Yeah.
- 32:55Need to end bye bye. See you later over there.
- 32:57That door never over there, never on this podcast.
- 33:00Will be no, no, probably to a fault.
- 33:04But you know what if you find fault in that?
- 33:06The doors over there. Look, this is what we grew up
- 33:11with. This was before it's.
- 33:12True. You know it was open harvest on
- 33:17everything Star Wars you can imagine.
- 33:19We had three movies and then a bunch of legends books.
- 33:23So sorry but I'll clutch that to my chest till I die.
- 33:27Yeah, I mean, it was re watching like VHS tapes for me over and
- 33:32over and over and over. My poor mom never wants to see
- 33:37Return of the Jedi again because I watched it so much.
- 33:41I know and I was raised in a Star Trek household and they
- 33:44told me just go in the bedroom so I did.
- 33:48I know I felt so excited when I went to college and I had my own
- 33:52TV, right? I was like, I'm going to watch
- 33:54Star Wars all the time and no one is going to complain.
- 33:58He was. Glove Star Wars so much.
- 34:03Thank God we have a podcast we should talk about.
- 34:06It I know it's so refreshing. Are you ready to answer some
- 34:17Jedi Master questions? Cuz we have some more.
- 34:20I am, let's do it. I love these.
- 34:22These are the best. I don't know them, I have no
- 34:27idea what they're gonna be. Yes, let's go.
- 34:29Okay. All right, from GAIL?
- 34:32She asked. GAIL.
- 34:33OMFG Lego sith Obi Wan. Remember I sent you the video of
- 34:38that, she says. Can we get Jat back on the show
- 34:41to talk about Sith Obi Wan? I mean, my answer is yes, but
- 34:45what's Jet's answer? Look, the last time Jet came on
- 34:50the show, it was kind of because all of our listeners, whenever
- 34:54they'd see him at a con, would say you should go on most things
- 34:57Kenobi. And eventually he was like, I
- 34:59will do that. And that's how it happened.
- 35:02He's a man of his word and he's a really good friend of the
- 35:05show. So listen, GAIL, my answer is
- 35:07yes. What's your answer, Lauren?
- 35:10Oh yeah, please. Jet is welcome anytime he wants
- 35:13to come. I do.
- 35:15I do kind of want to hear him talk about Sith Obi Wan from the
- 35:18new Lego do. I wonder if we, I suppose we
- 35:22could text him and or e-mail him and say, do you want to come
- 35:26talk about Sith like there's nothing to tell?
- 35:29I mean, maybe we'll wait till everyone sees it.
- 35:33And then I think it just came out.
- 35:35So we should. Oh, good, next episode.
- 35:37Excellent. OK, fabulous.
- 35:39OK, Ben, our good friend Ben. Hi, Ben.
- 35:45Oh no. So how long would it take a duck
- 35:48to fly to the moon? 12 1/2 parsecs.
- 36:04I don't know. Let's see and duck it why they
- 36:09can, right? They can.
- 36:11Of course they can, yeah. Yeah.
- 36:12OK. All right.
- 36:14It's so OK. Based on a typical flight speed
- 36:18of 50 mph, it would take a duck approximately 199 days to fly
- 36:23the average distance to the moon, provided it could survive
- 36:27the vacuum of space. Oh, but I guess there's our
- 36:35answer by the end of the year if he starts on January 1st, right?
- 36:42Oh my gosh. Yeah.
- 36:43Wow. Does this account for bathroom
- 36:45breaks and food? Probably not, since it's in the
- 36:49vacuum of. Space, but shit, literally
- 36:53when's he gonna thank you, Ben? Yeah, that's great.
- 36:58Thank you, Ben, Michela says. Can you assign D&D style
- 37:02alignments to our favorite Clone Wars characters?
- 37:05I'm super eager to hear about Ahsoka and Hondo.
- 37:08Bonus if you can align D&D alignments to Lord of the Rings
- 37:12characters and their counterparts and stuff.
- 37:17This requires research. I don't know a thing about
- 37:21Dungeons and Dragons. I honestly, I don't either.
- 37:25Listen, can we? Can we research it and then get
- 37:28back to you? Would that be?
- 37:30You know, I think doesn't Adela know a thing or two about D&D?
- 37:34Maybe this can be maybe this can be AQ and a session when we get
- 37:38one with our patrons and. That's a good idea.
- 37:41We can have a round table discussion because I've never
- 37:44played. I'm so sorry to disappoint you
- 37:46all. I know we're honestly, I'm like
- 37:49just a little bit too young for when it was like popular in the
- 37:5280s because my coach is same and only played and he's 10 years
- 37:55older than me. But I know it's actually super
- 37:58popular still. So I don't know.
- 37:59I have no excuse. But she also asks, are you also
- 38:02obsessed with K pop K pop demon hunters?
- 38:06Because this is all I hear about now.
- 38:08Yes, that. Is watch that.
- 38:11Yeah, it's, it's weirdly a Dick. It's cringy, but it's addicting.
- 38:16I I don't know what my problem is.
- 38:19There's nothing but good things. It has really good music, but I
- 38:23find myself, I find myself sitting there going you, you
- 38:27really don't need to be watching this, but it's kind of good.
- 38:31Like the music, it's the music and I like K pop music anyway so
- 38:36half of the people that I listen to and I have playlists with are
- 38:39on there. Honestly, people are raving
- 38:41about it. They love it, so I.
- 38:43Don't know, it's a fun watch. Yeah, I'm.
- 38:45Stupid cuz like everyone was like watch blue eyed samurai
- 38:49you'll be obsessed. I waited like a year and then I
- 38:51watched and I was like holy shit this is fucking good why didn't
- 38:54I watch it when everyone said to watch it?
- 38:56It's harmless. It's not.
- 38:59It's one of those like easy watches.
- 39:02That's what I need in my life right now.
- 39:03I need gentle and simple. Try it.
- 39:06Thank you, Jedi Masters. This was delightful.
- 39:08There's more. We have lots more, so we'll keep
- 39:10doing this. Yeah, and we have D&D homework
- 39:12now. Yeah, we got to play it at some
- 39:16point. Let's do it.
- 39:18I'm down. OK, we're going to learn new
- 39:21skills. Yes, 4040 years later, we'll
- 39:26pick up a game. Thank you, Jedi Masters.
- 39:34All right, our next episode, we kind of already mentioned it
- 39:37offhand, but we're going to discuss the new Lego installment
- 39:41of Star Wars Legends of the past, Rebuilding the past.
- 39:46What's it called? You know the one with Sith Obi
- 39:52Wan folks. Rebuild the Galaxy pieces.
- 39:56Rebuild the Galaxy pieces of the past.
- 39:58We're going to talk about it with special emphasis on Sith
- 40:01Obi Wan, because didn't Lauren and I just lose our shit when we
- 40:04saw that there was Sith Obi Wan? Okay.
- 40:07No, I sent you the little clip of Instagram and I was like holy
- 40:12shit, Jet is finally actually voicing It'll be 1.
- 40:17Even if it's a leg, yes, I don't care.
- 40:19I don't. Care.
- 40:19We're here for it. We're going to talk about it
- 40:21next episode, so please join us back here for all the
- 40:24ridiculousness because I'm sure it will ensue.
