Ep 21: Building Football Pitches in a War Zone | Liam Sullivan, Tackling Matters
Episode 21. Four and a half years ago a tube strike left Liam Sullivan at home listening to the news as Russia invaded Ukraine. Days later he was driving a van of aid to the Ukrainian border.
Liam, founder of Tackling Matters, joins Xavier Wiggins to talk about how those aid runs became a charity building football pitches in Ukraine for injured soldiers, amputees, and civilians living with PTSD. He explains why a community pitch costs less than £10,000, what football looks like in wartime Ukraine, and how you can help.
