- 0:20Don Armstrong: Luke from Corvette and Coffee.
- 0:23Don Armstrong: Is that right?
- 0:23Don Armstrong: No.
- 0:24Don Armstrong: No, it's it.
- 0:26Don Armstrong: Well, it's we're gonna find out from him.
- 0:29Don Armstrong: He'll tell us.
- 0:30Don Armstrong: I know.
- 0:30Don Armstrong: He'll set us straight.
- 0:31Don Armstrong: Jeff has the motor minute.
- 0:32Don Armstrong: I'll review the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Howdy.
- 0:37Don Armstrong: Along with Mike out of this world, Mars.
- 0:40Don Armstrong: We always need more Jeff Stephen.
- 0:42Don Armstrong: I'm Don Armstrong.
- 0:43Don Armstrong: So glad that you could join us on this Saturday morning.
- 0:46Don Armstrong: So why don't we just get right to our case to straighten out what I have already screwed up?
- 0:51Don Armstrong: And his name would be AJ Loop.
- 0:53Don Armstrong: AJ, sir, do I do I remember you from somewhere?
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Man, I'm about to say, don't make me have to have you move south to Mexico without it.
- 1:04Jeff Dziekan: That was a jail cell you shared.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, it's something like that.
- 1:07Don Armstrong: A Corvette jail cell.
- 1:09Don Armstrong: There you go.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: That's an off-air story.
- 1:11Don Armstrong: Yeah, it definitely is.
- 1:12Don Armstrong: Well, it's great to see you.
- 1:14Don Armstrong: I haven't talked to you in a while.
- 1:15Don Armstrong: And uh I know.
- 1:16Don Armstrong: And I I see that things are going well.
- 1:19Don Armstrong: So tell us about this event that uh uh is, I guess, going on right now.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: We're so we're out here at Garage Ultimate in Friendswood, and it's Corvette Day.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Uh and so we've been doing it here the last two years.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Uh the National Corvette Museum is here uh with some of their representatives, and they have their Corvette store uh so you can purchase merchandise and uh all the proceeds go to benefit the National Corvette Museum.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And the last two years we've raised$15,000 each year for this event.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So hopefully, good Lord willing here.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll do another 15 plus this year.
- 1:56Don Armstrong: Okay, so tell us a little bit about this garage ultimate.
- 1:58Don Armstrong: Is it a place to you can store your Corvette or do they fix Corvettes or what's the what's the deal there?
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: So basically it's like uh condominiums is set for cars, so I guess you could call it car dominiums.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, if if if I were allowed to, I'd live here.
- 2:14Don Armstrong: I think that most of us car people would would vote for that.
- 2:18Don Armstrong: Uh but if you have a spouse or a partner or something, he's gonna want you to live there.
- 2:23Don Armstrong: Just a little bit of a problem with that, unless that person, of course, you snatch that person from another Corvette.
- 2:29Don Armstrong: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they they have some in here that are just absolutely I'm in one right now.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: I'm in and uh uh one of our club members, I came over because we were at the event about 10 minutes ago.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: It was too too noisy.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: So I like uh hauled boogie over here.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay, it's nice and quiet over here.
- 2:46Jeff Dziekan: So is it's you say it's a con a card dominium for the for the vets.
- 2:50Jeff Dziekan: Do they actually do any repairs, any service work?
- 2:53Jeff Dziekan: Do they anybody have any lifts or something?
- 2:55Don Armstrong: No, but the problem I here's my take on it.
- 2:57Don Armstrong: My take would be you got a guy next door to you that's got a car maybe close to yours, or you know, it's a hot rodder.
- 3:04Don Armstrong: Hey man, can you help me?
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: I need to lift the hook has uh has seven Corvettes in it.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Seven Corvettes, seven Corvettes in it, and uh it's got a Mezian and it's got uh couches, big screens.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Uh there's like even a Corvette pinball machine to my right that y'all can't see.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Um there's a car simulator, you know, these are really just kind of over the top.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Uh and and there are some people that have a spot in here that they do work on them, but it's not really a shop.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Uh, these are just primarily uh for garage, you know, garage queens or yeah, detailing the engine compartment and things like that.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Things like that.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Yes, sir.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: And uh it's just really, really, really, really nice.
- 3:45Don Armstrong: You know, back in the day, my day, they didn't have such a thing.
- 3:51Don Armstrong: It was some, you know, dilapidated barn that somebody had cleaned out all the old tractors and stuff.
- 3:56Don Armstrong: When dinosaurs roamed the earth, that's it.
- 3:58Don Armstrong: And dirt floors, and uh you're doing good to you know, string an extension cord from the house out there to for a little lighting, that would be about it.
- 4:07Don Armstrong: But these days uh it seems to be a trend.
- 4:10Don Armstrong: Uh, guys that uh have either a semi-car collection, maybe just one car.
- 4:14Don Armstrong: Uh how many square feet do they have out there available?
- 4:19Don Armstrong: Can you get just a single car, two cars?
- 4:22Don Armstrong: What's the what's the deal?
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they have the so they have small.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: So this one right now, uh uh the one in Friendswood, it's all sold out, uh, buildings one, two, and three.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: They're doing an addition, uh, building four and five that's gonna be facing the golf course.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: And there are some units that are available there, but those are the big ones.
- 4:39Don Armstrong: Wait a minute.
- 4:40Don Armstrong: Did you did you just kind of throw in there adjacent to the golf course?
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: You just threw that in the street in there, Timber Creek golf course.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: And uh sometimes in the afternoon you'll see deer come up in here, and it is so peaceful out there.
- 4:54Don Armstrong: Well, I'll assume that there aren't any windows in there that you could break when you have some errant mulligan somewhere.
- 5:00Don Armstrong: Well, probably not.
- 5:01Don Armstrong: It's probably all secure.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the um y'all just have to come out here and see it.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It's just like like y'all never took my word for it on our car shows until you came out.
- 5:12Jeff Dziekan: Yep.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Then I made a believer out of y'all.
- 5:14Jeff Dziekan: Well, look, Mike, Mike's been asking this question how much are they to rent or buy?
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Well, so they actually have what's called a car keep, and there are a few units where you could rent a spot inside one of these units.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: And there's different levels, there's two levels.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: One is like Ultimate VIP, where they uh, if you want your car, they'll come pull your car out, you literally just pull up and get in your car and go.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Uh they'll wash it once a uh once a month, keep it on a battery tender.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: And of course, it's inside climate control AC.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: And uh that I think that's$550 a month.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: And then if you want it a little bit, not not all those perks, I think it's$350 a month.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, and it's it's called the car keep.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: And there's a few of those spots left over here.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: They're going fast though, once once they decided to put them out.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Um, and then pre-construction.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: If I was a smart man, which I'm not apparently, because I had a chance to get some of these pre-construction ones.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: You own a Corvette, you're not a smart man.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: No, I know.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: But let me tell you, if you could have gotten in on the on the pre-construction prices, those have doubled in value.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: And um, and and the guy, uh the owner, Nick Deutsch, is a is a a member, uh good friend of you know 15-16 years.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: And at one point he was our club president, and I I would see him down at the city of Friends with plans that were bigger around in his waist.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And I thought to myself when he was doing this, I said, My God, his man's got balls to do this because I'm I'm just not sure if this is going to go over.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: There again, I'm not a smart guy.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Was I wrong?
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Because I mean, this place just took off like fire.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Uh the culture and the community out here, it's just it's amazing.
- 6:52Jeff Dziekan: So, do you have to be the member of that club or can you just be an independent guy that's got a vet?
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, no, you can you don't even have to have a Corvette.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: You can be uh as a matter of fact, on um I think it's the third Saturday of every month the Porsche Club comes out here.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Um they do events during the summertime on Friday from I think it's um seven to nine, and it's just open to the public, and they'll have two 250 cars out here.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Oh people trying to come out and hang out.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's it's a lot of fun.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: And and the the cultural that he's established out here is really nice.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: And a lot of the owners will open up their units so people can walk through and see them.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Uh, there's a gentleman named Mr.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Earl out here that has three of them put together, or three of them, he took the dividing wall out, and it's just over-the-top phenomenal.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: I I just can't words cannot describe it.
- 7:39Don Armstrong: Uh, I could send you a picture, but to see in person is just so is your unit right up front out there as soon as you come into the gate.
- 7:44Don Armstrong: There's AJ Loop's place over there.
- 7:46Don Armstrong: Yeah, I was a thousand square foot.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I I wish it was like that.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Uh, maybe maybe if I was dreaming and y'all pinched me and I had to wake up, but no, I I don't have one out here.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: I do have I do have two of my cars in the car keep though.
- 7:59Jeff Dziekan: Good.
- 7:59Jeff Dziekan: Uh it seems like these are these are come these are more popular because you mentioned the Porsche Club.
- 8:04Jeff Dziekan: I think they have one as well.
- 8:05Jeff Dziekan: Or there's certain certain clubs, certain types of exotics that have this particular way of you know utilizing a hanger space, basically.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then they're also doing uh I say phase two, they're gonna build another one, another garage ultimate out in spring, and construction's gonna start on that before too much longer.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Uh, probably maybe in August, September.
- 8:26Don Armstrong: So uh what's going on out there?
- 8:28Don Armstrong: I mean, has it got 50 salesmen trying to sell these last few units out there, or is it just a good camaraderie kind of day out there?
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Uh it's just a good camaraderie.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Uh and and you don't have to sell these, they sell themselves.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: And and it's and it's real, I mean, uh, it's kind of like whenever that that that one opens up that they're working on right now that there's under construction, uh if they're not already pre-sold, they'll be by the time I snap my fingers.
- 8:55Don Armstrong: Well, you know, this flyer is great that uh I I got a hold of here, celebrate America Sports Car Saturday, June 20th, but it doesn't tell you exactly where it is.
- 9:03Don Armstrong: Where is it?
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: It's at the garage ultimate.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: No.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: And Franklin.
- 9:06Don Armstrong: Where is the garage ultimate?
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: Across the streets of it's uh FM uh I don't quote me.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: I think it's 4630 or either 4650 FM 2351.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: It's uh right off of 2351.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: It's in front of the Timber Creek Golf Course and it's across the street from uh Clear Brook High School.
- 9:24Jeff Dziekan: Oh, okay.
- 9:24Jeff Dziekan: So technically, Don, you have one here because you've got your car in the garage, your vet's in the car.
- 9:29Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, but yeah.
- 9:30Mike Marrs: It's in the garage.
- 9:31Jeff Dziekan: You got it carpeted, you got it covered, you know.
- 9:32Mike Marrs: You've got nice cabinets on the wall.
- 9:35Mike Marrs: Yeah, but it's not like that.
- 9:38Don Armstrong: And you know, uh it it's funny you should bring this up, and I've said this before on the show back in the day, and I'm I'm talking about now 70s, um, there was a shell station at the corner of Bel Air Boulevard and 59 the Southwest Freeway, right there at Sharps Town Center.
- 9:56Don Armstrong: And I don't know, it's probably had eight eight repair bays at this shell station.
- 10:04Don Armstrong: And they didn't have any work on on Saturdays and Sundays, so they rented the space out.
- 10:09Don Armstrong: So if you needed to get your car on a lift, you go in there, you sign the waiver, they give you a box of tools, you had to make sure that all the tools are back in it when you get done.
- 10:17Don Armstrong: But you went in there and you did whatever you needed to do, paid your money, and away you went.
- 10:22Don Armstrong: And that was kind of for me a new and different thing because you either had the stuff at the house, uh not even a small lift, they didn't have those back then.
- 10:31Don Armstrong: It was a jack stand, that kind of thing.
- 10:34Don Armstrong: But uh and yeah, this thing here, I would imagine you've got enough ceiling height where you could put in one of those uh low-vaulted uh jacks, if you want to call it that.
- 10:44Don Armstrong: Uh lift, yeah.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, this like the one I'm in right now, uh they have it's a it's a three-level lift.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: They have uh and then it goes across.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: It's uh he's got six cars in the air.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: And then there's there's I think two or three in the ground.
- 10:59Don Armstrong: So and those lifts are bolted to the floor, I assume.
- 11:02Don Armstrong: Yes, sir.
- 11:02Don Armstrong: Those are the things.
- 11:05Jeff Dziekan: Now, if you you know you talk about the shell station where you can rent rent a s rent a lift for space, look at the movie Christine, because that's what that building was where Christine was, wasn't it?
- 11:14Jeff Dziekan: Exactly what that was.
- 11:15Jeff Dziekan: But it was at a junkyard or something, but you still rented the space.
- 11:18Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, yeah, to build to work on your car.
- 11:20Don Armstrong: Well, I find it interesting.
- 11:21Don Armstrong: So do you buy the space or do you lease the space?
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: No, sir.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: You you you purchase purchase a space, it's just like you're let's say you're buying a condominium, except I call it a car dominium.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Um, so you purchase the space, you own it.
- 11:35Mike Marrs: And so you got to finish it on the inside to what you want.
- 11:39Mike Marrs: Correct.
- 11:40Mike Marrs: Sheetrock, shelves, whatever, whatever.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Well, it comes it comes with uh H V A C and it comes with sheetrock already.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Uh and then anything after that is the building.
- 11:51Mike Marrs: You gotta build it out the way you want it.
- 11:53Don Armstrong: So you can you so you can hang your you yeah, you you you can hang all of your neon in there, you can your advertising signs, you know, you can make it a manly kind of garage, or if that didn't suit your fancy, get the wife in there and have her decorate it for you.
- 12:10Don Armstrong: Yeah, lots of flowers.
- 12:12Jeff Dziekan: If you still have one after buying that.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: So the unit, the unit that I'm in right now, uh, it's a couple that own it.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: And you know, I always say a lot of times, I'm in construction, and so I I'll say, you know, that was a great job, but it's the occupant or the owner that takes it over the top.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: This particular one I'm in right now, the owner of this particular unit takes it over the top just because of the people.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: But it's got the warmest fuzzy one I can say that's in it's in the in the complex.
- 12:40Jeff Dziekan: So here's an idea.
- 12:41Jeff Dziekan: Why not build out another complex of it for just the ladies?
- 12:45Jeff Dziekan: Have the ladies be the owners with their cars.
- 12:48Jeff Dziekan: I mean, that would be something that you would probably sell real quick.
- 12:50Don Armstrong: There are no cars, and they could just make the coffee and the and the collages and oh, I'm sorry.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Coffee.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: That just slipped out.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:59Jeff Dziekan: No, I just would see what it would be like, how many would do that?
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, I I don't that's a good question.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Uh, and I I wouldn't want to step off in it and try to answer that one either.
- 13:11Don Armstrong: Especially now since you're around the world telling the story.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 13:16Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 13:17Don Armstrong: Well, this sounds like a great event.
- 13:19Don Armstrong: So, how are things with uh the uh Corvette Club down there?
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Everything's going great.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Uh, we can't complain.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: We just kind of steady as she goes.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: We continue to grow.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Um we were at uh earlier this year, we were at 353 members.
- 13:33unknown: Wow.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: Um, our spring event, uh, the Corvettes and Crawfish, we uh broke another record.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Uh we had 182 Corvettes out there.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: And then in the last four and a half years, we've raised$450,000 for Texas Equisearch.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 13:50Don Armstrong: So I assume that you guys have a link or something to uh this particular venue here, the uh Garage Ultimate.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Uh we do.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: So you can go to AutoFame.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: That's Mr.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Kevin Brady's uh platform that he uses, or you can go to HoustonVets.com and it's V-E-T-T-E-S.com and you'll see it there.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: Uh I think I sent Mike a flyer of the event.
- 14:14Don Armstrong: Yeah, I got it right here.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 14:16Don Armstrong: And yeah, so is Houston Vets another club?
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: No, it's kind of like this the this the seven Corvette clubs.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: It's uh like a landing website for all of us.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: And if you wanted to uh if you you know if you're with another Corvette club and you wanted to post an event, you know, you can post that event on that website so you can kind of see what all the Corvette clubs are doing uh in Houston.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Now, I know we keep our end up, but not all of them do, so it's a hit and miss on what you're gonna see.
- 14:44Don Armstrong: So I think there needs to be one gigantic Corvette event, nothing but Corvettes, and they all come, thousand of them.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Well, I I concur, I agree with you.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Um, that's why we do the Corvette Day.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Uh, we had not not last year, but the first year we did it, we had 302 Corvettes out here.
- 15:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:03Don Armstrong: And all we need is another uh 600, yeah.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Now I don't know where we put them.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: That was 302.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: That was packed.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Now the uh parking the additions that they're building, uh, we could probably put another 200.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: So it could be 500.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: But uh turbside parking.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so we what we were doing uh last year, we were the to the public.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: They would park at Clearbrook Right High School, and we had police officers that would uh we were just bringing in the uh golf carts just left and right, bringing in spectators.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: So it's been quite a quite a big event.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: Plus, Houston Area Chevy Dealers is our sponsor, Auto Fame's our sponsor, National Corvette Museum Insurance is another one of our sponsors.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's really kind of neat when you can have the National Corvette Museum come down with the store and sell merchandise uh at it at the event.
- 15:52Mike Marrs: Yeah, you learned that they were there.
- 15:54Mike Marrs: Could you kind of just real quick before we run out of time?
- 15:57Mike Marrs: Sure.
- 15:57Mike Marrs: What is that association with them?
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Well, so Space City Corvette Club, we're lifetime members of the museum.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Um personally, I'm a a uh charter member of the museum um and a lifetime member.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Um we also just to I mean, I guess toot a little whistle a little bit, we just placed the largest brick order in museum history with 86 brick on the boulevard.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: I think it was over$35,000, but all that money goes to raise money for the National Corvette Museum.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Um last year we uh made it to the Spire Society, which means we raised more than$25,000 in a given year for the museum.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: And uh so we support the museum along with our other charities, uh like Texas Equisearch.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: Uh Gold Star Fan Monument is another charity we support, UT and B.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: We give a scholarship away every year.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: So, you know, it's just we we come together to give back to our community.
- 16:47Don Armstrong: So it sounds like a great event.
- 16:49Don Armstrong: AJ, we're out of time.
- 16:50Don Armstrong: We appreciate the time that you spent with us this morning.
- 16:52Don Armstrong: Thank y'all.
- 16:53Don Armstrong: Thank y'all very much.
- 16:54Don Armstrong: Thank you.
- 16:55Don Armstrong: So it goes till 11:30 Garage Ultimate down in Friendswood Offa 2351.
- 16:59Don Armstrong: Thanks again, my friend.
- 17:00SPEAKER_05: Sir, thank you.

- 19:06Don Armstrong: Three hour show, it's a great guest.
- 19:08Don Armstrong: Uh really good guest.
- 19:10Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 19:10Don Armstrong: And uh if you get a chance, you can pull it up on a podcast and listen to one of the Mike is wonderful.
- 19:16Don Armstrong: Good job.
- 19:17Don Armstrong: All right.
- 19:17Don Armstrong: Uh time now for Jeff's Motorman.
- 19:19Jeff Dziekan: All right, this is a Father today special, and I got some news coming across with a ticker tape, and I hope you all enjoy these uh newsbreaks that we have.
- 19:26Jeff Dziekan: But uh there was a break-in at a local police station yesterday, Don, and you know the toilet was stolen.
- 19:34Jeff Dziekan: Reports are that they have nothing to go on.
- 19:37Jeff Dziekan: Uh in the news also, the CEO of IKEA has been elected Prime Minister of Sweden.
- 19:43Jeff Dziekan: I didn't know that there was an election going on, but evidently he won as a Prime Minister Minister of Sweden.
- 19:48Jeff Dziekan: He's currently assembling his cabinet.
- 19:51Jeff Dziekan: In other news, uh, there's a cartoonist that was found dead in his home.
- 19:55Jeff Dziekan: Tragic.
- 19:55Jeff Dziekan: Uh the details are sketchy.
- 19:58Jeff Dziekan: Uh some of the other local news, there was a uh report of a local kindergarten that had a peekaboo accident.
- 20:07Jeff Dziekan: Now, this is very tragic, so all were rushed to the ICU.
- 20:11Jeff Dziekan: In other news that uh came across the wire, there was a kid napping at a local elementary school yesterday.
- 20:18Jeff Dziekan: It's okay, they woke up.
- 20:20Jeff Dziekan: Uh just uh just another tragic accident here on the highway.
- 20:24Jeff Dziekan: A cement mixer collided with a prison van on the highway just down the road from here.
- 20:29Jeff Dziekan: Uh motorists are asked to uh look out for 16 hardened criminals.
- 20:34Jeff Dziekan: And lastly, across the news, uh Snoopy has officially been retired from the comics.
- 20:40Jeff Dziekan: I didn't know anything about this.
- 20:41Jeff Dziekan: Uh he was tired of working for peanuts.
- 20:44Jeff Dziekan: And that's what we have on the local Father's Day newsbreaker.
- 20:50Mike Marrs: I don't know why.
- 20:51Jeff Dziekan: Well, I think I got one more.
- 20:52Jeff Dziekan: Uh-da-da.
- 20:54Jeff Dziekan: Oh, oh, there's a good one.
- 20:55Jeff Dziekan: Uh a nine-year-old girl has disappeared after using moisturizer that makes you look ten years younger.
- 21:05Mike Marrs: I had to open my mouth, you know.
- 21:08Jeff Dziekan: So that's just dedicated to the fathers out there.
- 21:10Jeff Dziekan: And some of you mothers do.
- 21:12Don Armstrong: Well, you know, it's a Father's Day weekend.
- 21:16Don Armstrong: Well, it's an appropriate vehicle.
- 21:26Don Armstrong: Rand wagon here.
- 21:32Don Armstrong: Okay, so uh I think it has a kitchen sink.
- 22:01Don Armstrong: I just didn't find it on this one week that I had.
- 22:04Don Armstrong: Gotta see it up.
- 22:06Don Armstrong: Uh exterior features.
- 22:08Don Armstrong: B-I-G, baby.
- 22:10Don Armstrong: Uh signature seven-slot jeep grill, but with a high zoot look to it.
- 22:16Don Armstrong: You really have to know the history of the seven-slot grill that goes back to World War II, all of that good stuff.
- 22:24Don Armstrong: Because it kind of disappears in the front end of this.
- 22:27Don Armstrong: There it is, right there.
- 22:29Don Armstrong: Linear lines from grill to rear end, concentric-sized wheel openings, chrome accents, however, can distract a bit from the body lines.
- 22:43Don Armstrong: Um they did that to put a little bling on it.
- 22:46Don Armstrong: That's all I can think of.
- 22:48Don Armstrong: What I liked about it, I liked its conservative styling.
- 22:51Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 22:53Don Armstrong: Well, as far as a Jeep is concerned, I don't think you can.
- 22:56Don Armstrong: However, what I'd really like to see is have this morph into a second version called a Chrysler fill-in-the-blank.
- 23:06Don Armstrong: A Chrysler version of this.
- 23:08Don Armstrong: Oh my God.
- 23:10Don Armstrong: To compete, to compete with the Cadillac Escalade, because this could do it.
- 23:14Don Armstrong: I'm just saying.
- 23:16Don Armstrong: Interior highlights.
- 23:18Don Armstrong: Well, uh, you know, Jeep, especially at this level, known for high-end interiors.
- 23:23Don Armstrong: Well, this one doesn't disappoint.
- 23:25Don Armstrong: Wood touches through the interior add a bit of excellence, a lot of excellence, and elegance too.
- 23:32Don Armstrong: Quilted seating adds the wow factor.
- 23:36Don Armstrong: Uh some controls, uh, and in non-traditional places.
- 23:40Don Armstrong: So it took me a little while to get used to it.
- 23:42Don Armstrong: You know, I'm used to the old school Jeeps, and this takes it over and above old school.
- 23:48Don Armstrong: Uh, as far as storage, well, big third row seats in the back.
- 23:56Don Armstrong: Once you fold those down, you got plenty of room back there in the cargo area.
- 24:00Don Armstrong: What I liked about the interior, lap of luxury feeling.
- 24:05Don Armstrong: I could use improvement.
- 24:06Don Armstrong: Well, there's no AM radio.
- 24:09Don Armstrong: What?
- 24:10Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 24:10Don Armstrong: Why?
- 24:12Don Armstrong: Why?
- 24:13Don Armstrong: I don't get it.
- 24:14Don Armstrong: Well, that was one of those old radio.
- 24:16Don Armstrong: Well, I heard that you know they were doing that with the EVs, but if there's an AM radio in it, it didn't appear on the display.
- 24:23Don Armstrong: Uh engine.
- 24:24Don Armstrong: This had a hurricane inline six-cylinder twin turbocharged and it turned out 510 horsepower with plenty of torque in the 400-pound feet range.
- 24:41Don Armstrong: Eight-speed automatic transmission.
- 24:43Don Armstrong: The tow rating is at 9,860 pounds.
- 24:49Don Armstrong: Friends, that's almost five tons.
- 24:51Don Armstrong: Can you believe it?
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:53Don Armstrong: That's a big one.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:54Don Armstrong: Well, um, let's see.
- 24:59Don Armstrong: Miles per gallon.
- 25:00Don Armstrong: 16 in the city, 22 on the highway for a combined of 18.
- 25:05Don Armstrong: I got 16.9 miles per gallon over 353.3 miles.
- 25:12Don Armstrong: Uh, what I liked, the power, plenty of power.
- 25:16Don Armstrong: Um, and it it will it goes right up against a V8 because it's smooth and it's non-stop power all the way through with the twin turbo spooled up on it.
- 25:28Don Armstrong: Um, what could use improvement?
- 25:30Don Armstrong: Well, now that uh Stellantis has gotten back into their right mind, I'm thinking maybe perhaps an Hemi V8 option.
- 25:40Jeff Dziekan: I'm thinking V8 from the beginning, a six-cylinder twin turbo.
- 25:43Jeff Dziekan: That's a lot of that's a lot of moving parts.
- 25:45Don Armstrong: Well, you know, they they've sunk a lot of money into that in in line six.
- 25:49Don Armstrong: And well, they save money by not putting a radio in, they am, but well, that yeah, not that much.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: That's a little different.
- 25:55Don Armstrong: Uh riding handling, it's got an air ride suspension that comes with this upscale trim level.
- 26:01Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 26:02Don Armstrong: Absolutely nothing.
- 26:03Don Armstrong: Rides great, and it is big.
- 26:06Don Armstrong: This is not something that you want to throw around the corner.
- 26:10Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 26:10Don Armstrong: Um base trim price is$97,310.
- 26:17Don Armstrong: Now that's the base price trim.
- 26:18Don Armstrong: Yeah, base trim.
- 26:19Don Armstrong: Price is tested,$106,890.
- 26:23Don Armstrong: If you just want to get into a great big SUV, you can get the Wagoneer at$66,995.
- 26:31Don Armstrong: And good luck in trying to find one of those.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 26:34Don Armstrong: Here's what it competes against the Chevy Suburban, clearly.
- 26:37Don Armstrong: $63,700 where where it starts.
- 26:40Don Armstrong: Ford Expedition Max.
- 26:42Don Armstrong: I was kind of surprised that it only goes for$577 to get into one.
- 26:45Don Armstrong: Oh.
- 26:46Don Armstrong: And then I thought, well, okay, let's throw it up there where this particular one was.
- 26:50Don Armstrong: Let's go for the Lexus LX, which isn't quite as big as this particular vehicle.
- 26:56Don Armstrong: Uh Lexus LX starts at$107,000.
- 27:00Don Armstrong: Starts.
- 27:01Don Armstrong: Starts there.
- 27:02Don Armstrong: Starts.
- 27:02Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 27:03Don Armstrong: So that's my review of the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L for long.
- 27:13Don Armstrong: Luxurious Lapal luxury.
- 27:16Don Armstrong: Next week we're going to review the Subaru Trail Seeker.
- 27:20Don Armstrong: You had a lot of Subarus lately.
- 27:21Don Armstrong: I have.
- 27:22Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 27:22Don Armstrong: This is an all-new vehicle.
- 27:23Don Armstrong: I've never heard of it.
- 27:24Don Armstrong: You've ever heard of Trail Seeker?
- 27:25Don Armstrong: No.
- 27:26Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 27:26Don Armstrong: They come up with names all the time.
- 27:27Don Armstrong: They do.
- 27:28Don Armstrong: Well, this is uh all-new electric Subaru.
- 27:31Don Armstrong: Oh, okay.
- 27:32Don Armstrong: So it's completely different than anything else.
- 27:34Don Armstrong: I think that you'll enjoy that review.
- 27:36Don Armstrong: That's going to be next week here on the In-Wheel Time Car Talk Show.
- 27:40Jeff Dziekan: Subaru power selection thing.
- 27:43Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 27:43Jeff Dziekan: That.
- 27:44Jeff Dziekan: I bet you it's got an A radio in it.
- 27:48Jeff Dziekan: What?
- 27:48Mike Marrs: You know, it's got that flat boxer type motor on it, and then it's gasoline powered.
- 27:53Mike Marrs: I guess it'll be the same setup, except it'll be a battery, I guess.
- 27:57Mike Marrs: I don't know.
- 27:57Mike Marrs: It'll be interesting to see.
- 27:59Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 28:00Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 28:01Don Armstrong: Battery with uh no boxer engine.
- 28:04unknown: Yeah.
- 28:04Don Armstrong: Electric motors.
- 28:06Don Armstrong: Well, they'll have a front to call it a frunk.
- 28:08Don Armstrong: A front frunk.
