Transcript
- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another Dutch adventure? Luna: Always, Lucas. What are we diving into today? Lucas: Today we're continuing our body parts series. We've covered so many parts already, but there are two more that are super common in daily life. Luna: Ooh, which ones? Lucas: The neck and the throat. In Dutch, that's de nek and de keel. Luna: De nek, de keel. They sound kind of similar. Lucas: They do, but they're quite different. De nek is the neck, like the back of your neck. De keel is the throat, inside. Luna: Got it. So how do I say I have a sore neck? Lucas: Ik heb een stijve nek. It means 'I have a stiff neck.' Listen again: Ik heb een stijve nek. Luna: Ik heb een stijve nek. That's a mouthful, but I think I've got it. Lucas: You've got it. Now, for a sore throat, it's shorter: Ik heb keelpijn. Literally 'I have throat pain.' Luna: Ik heb keelpijn. That's easier. Ik heb keelpijn. Lucas: Perfect. Let's practice them in a little scene. Say you wake up and you feel awful. What do you tell your friend? Luna: Uhh, I'd say: Ik heb een stijve nek en ik heb keelpijn. Lucas: Excellent. Both in one sentence. That's exactly how you'd use them. Luna: So if I slept weird, I'd have a stiff neck. And if I'm getting sick, I'd have a sore throat. Lucas: Yes. And these are super useful when you're at the doctor or pharmacy, which we've practiced before. Luna: Totally. Speaking of useful, I've been thinking about something. Lucas: What's that? Luna: If someone finds this podcast helpful, like it helps them finally get the hang of Dutch, how would they support us? Lucas: Oh, that's a good question. If today's episode was worth a coffee to you, you can head to buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It's the smallest ask, and it keeps this show ad-free. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps. But for now, let's get back to our neck and throat. Lucas: Right. So let's repeat them once more. De nek, de keel. Luna: De nek, de keel. Lucas: And the phrases: Ik heb een stijve nek. Ik heb keelpijn. Luna: Ik heb een stijve nek. Ik heb keelpijn. I think I've got it. Lucas: You've got it. Let's do one more mini dialogue. Imagine you're at the doctor's office. The doctor asks what's wrong. Luna: I'd say: Ik heb keelpijn en ik heb een stijve nek. Lucas: That's a perfect answer. And the doctor would understand immediately. Luna: So useful. I'm glad we covered these. Lucas: Me too. Let's wrap up with a quick review. Can you say the words for neck and throat one more time? Luna: De nek, de keel. Lucas: And the phrases? Luna: Ik heb een stijve nek. Ik heb keelpijn. Lucas: You're ready for anything. That's it for today. Practice these, and we'll see you next time on Learn Dutch with Fexingo. Luna: See you then. Tot ziens!
