- 0:00Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:01Speaker 2: Stu Gatz.
- 0:01Speaker 3: Woo!
- 0:02Speaker 4: I got to be honest with you, Bruce, there's a
- 0:03Speaker 4: good chance I'd be high anyway.
- 0:05Speaker 5: Woo!
- 0:05Speaker 4: And I'm wondering how the football weekend was. Were you
- 0:07Speaker 4: able to watch it?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Wow, what happened?
- 0:09Speaker 4: Oh, I'm tired of him.
- 0:12Speaker 2: I'm serious.
- 0:13Speaker 4: How about that?
- 0:14Speaker 2: In company. We are mother shuckers, baby.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Woo! Bruce, does Faison Brandon's name sound like it's on backwards?
- 0:20Speaker 4: No doubt.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's time to get your.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's time to get your racket to get the all boat,
- 0:27Speaker 1: the all boat. You got nothing right there. This is
- 0:29Speaker 1: not going well.
- 0:31Speaker 4: This is still gots and company. Stu back to you.
- 0:36Speaker 6: Taylor put it on the pole is game three. The
- 0:39Speaker 6: best two words in sports. We have one of them today.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Phillies and Braves.
- 0:43Speaker 4: What are you laughing at? Mikey?
- 0:44Speaker 2: It is.
- 0:44Speaker 4: I mean, it's, it's a deciding game. It's like a game.
- 0:46Speaker 4: It's the rare game three. That feels like a game seven.
- 0:49Speaker 4: How about that?
- 0:49Speaker 2: And, It's the best two words in sports until game
- 0:52Speaker 2: five becomes the best two words in sports next week.
- 0:56Speaker 6: By the way, I gave Taylor such a hard time
- 0:57Speaker 6: for calling game two a must-win game for the Yankees.
- 1:00Speaker 4: They ended up winning that game.
- 1:02Speaker 6: But I have said forever that the second game of
- 1:04Speaker 6: the series is the most important game of the series.
- 1:07Speaker 4: And so, Taylor, my apologies to you.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And you felt the urgency in that building yesterday. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: think Aaron Boone really got that message across to the team.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Booney was listening?
- 1:16Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Taylor and Mikey have a gripe.
- 1:21Speaker 6: Congratulations to you guys. Congratulations mostly here to Ricky Mantle,
- 1:26Speaker 6: who is a big-time Yankee fan. He is wearing Yankee
- 1:30Speaker 6: clothes and a Yankee cap yet again. I had no
- 1:34Speaker 6: idea he was a Yankee fan until the Marlins were
- 1:36Speaker 6: eliminated from postseason contention and the Yankees made it to
- 1:40Speaker 6: the playoffs. You knew he was a Yankee fan of sorts,
- 1:43Speaker 6: Mikey A.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I had no idea.
- 1:45Speaker 5: I just think it's funny that he's becoming a Yankee
- 1:47Speaker 5: fan earlier and earlier in the season as the Marlins
- 1:50Speaker 5: get eliminated.
- 1:51Speaker 4: It's so funny.
- 1:52Speaker 6: Taylor, did he ever mention to you at all that
- 1:54Speaker 6: he's a Yankee fan?
- 1:55Speaker 1: So I know Ricardo appreciates baseball, and we've mentioned in
- 1:59Speaker 1: the past that he appreciates the Yankees. just because he
- 2:03Speaker 1: wants the Marlins to do what the Yankees do and
- 2:05Speaker 1: spend money. So I think that's where his love of
- 2:07Speaker 1: the Yankees comes from.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Okay. What is your guys' gripe with the Yankee game?
- 2:11Speaker 4: How is there a gripe? You guys won the game.
- 2:13Speaker 4: You've moved on.
- 2:14Speaker 6: You faced Tampa in the next series. How do you
- 2:16Speaker 6: have a gripe from the game yesterday?
- 2:20Speaker 2: It's more with the broadcast than the game, okay?
- 2:23Speaker 5: NBC, it's been a long time since you've had baseball,
- 2:27Speaker 5: but act like you've been there before, okay? Here we are,
- 2:31Speaker 5: it's the fifth inning, and it's been a nail-biter.
- 2:35Speaker 2: It's been just two pitchers dueling.
- 2:37Speaker 5: And we finally get a little offense when we get
- 2:42Speaker 5: a home run. And the home run is seen from
- 2:45Speaker 5: the ump cam. I don't need the ump cam ever
- 2:50Speaker 5: in my broadcasts. Unless you're showing me a replay after
- 2:54Speaker 5: a pitch. I do not need to see the most
- 2:56Speaker 5: exciting moment of the game to that point come from
- 3:00Speaker 5: the ump camp.
- 3:01Speaker 6: This is first-class problems right here. I mean, you're complaining
- 3:05Speaker 6: about something that I doubt anyone really cares about, but
- 3:09Speaker 6: you guys do.
- 3:10Speaker 1: No, I think Yankee fans are upset about that moment.
- 3:13Speaker 4: They are?
- 3:15Speaker 1: When you go to ump camp... If you're NBC, you
- 3:18Speaker 1: never expect it to be on the home run. And
- 3:20Speaker 1: I think somebody at NBC, the second Luis Garcia Jr.
- 3:25Speaker 1: made contact with the ball was like, shit. We were
- 3:29Speaker 1: hoping this was a bad pitch.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Yeah, but I'm just saying if the ump cam is
- 3:35Speaker 6: the only thing you have to gripe about, then your
- 3:37Speaker 6: team's doing pretty well.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I mean. There's a lot of.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Things to gripe about.
- 3:40Speaker 5: I just happened to say to you before we started,
- 3:43Speaker 5: Taylor and I have a gripe with the game.
- 3:44Speaker 4: I know.
- 3:45Speaker 5: I mean, we could talk about the fact that Sonny
- 3:47Speaker 5: Gray was clearly cheating.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And nobody caught it.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Are you guys glad that Sonny Gray made it to
- 3:52Speaker 4: the stadium? I mean.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Sonny Gray was good. This is one moment where I
- 3:56Speaker 1: kind of want to just tip my cap to Sonny Gray.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Sonny Gray was great in that game. Chad Tracy, the
- 4:02Speaker 1: Red Sox manager, this is back-to-back games now where he
- 4:06Speaker 1: has had absolutely no feel of what's happening in the game, Mikey,
- 4:10Speaker 1: where two days ago it was Peyton Tolley. Yesterday it
- 4:13Speaker 1: was Sonny Gray. Chad Tracy does this thing where he
- 4:16Speaker 1: races to the mound because he can't wait to get
- 4:18Speaker 1: to his bullpen, and then the bullpen blows it. And
- 4:21Speaker 1: at some point, if you're the Red Sox, your season
- 4:24Speaker 1: is on the line. let your best pitcher be the
- 4:28Speaker 1: one that lets your team down or loses the game
- 4:30Speaker 1: for you. He just keeps going to the bullpen. And
- 4:33Speaker 1: the Yankees were like, the Yankees, when they see Sonny
- 4:35Speaker 1: Gray leaving, the Yankees are like, thank God Sonny Gray
- 4:38Speaker 1: is leaving. Because at that point he was only at
- 4:40Speaker 1: 70 pitches. And Mike, he really only made one mistake
- 4:43Speaker 1: the entire, whatever it was, four innings that he pitched
- 4:46Speaker 1: to Luis Garcia Jr.
- 4:47Speaker 4: It was four and two thirds. He gave up two runs.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Well, well, yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 5: He let the runner on base who then was given up,
- 4:54Speaker 5: but totally, I can't really say, but there is a
- 4:57Speaker 5: theory that he pulled Sonny gray because it was known
- 5:01Speaker 5: that he was cheating. I don't know if you guys
- 5:03Speaker 5: have seen, there was obviously sticky substance on his neck
- 5:07Speaker 5: and he kept going to the back of his neck
- 5:09Speaker 5: and then going to the ball to throw a pitch.
- 5:11Speaker 5: And maybe there was a word from the Yankees that go, Hey,
- 5:15Speaker 5: get him out of there. Or we're coming to, uh,
- 5:19Speaker 5: to call him out. So Tracy, he'll get suspended and
- 5:21Speaker 5: all that stuff.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So Tracy might've pulled Sonny gray.
- 5:24Speaker 4: That's the theory, right?
- 5:26Speaker 5: Because if he didn't pull him, the Yankees were going
- 5:29Speaker 5: to have him suspended.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And then there would have been all sorts of fines
- 5:32Speaker 2: and whatnot.
- 5:32Speaker 6: So what you guys are saying is absent of that,
- 5:35Speaker 6: there was absolutely no reason to pull Sonny gray, right?
- 5:39Speaker 4: Is that what you're saying?
- 5:39Speaker 2: Not at that, not at that moment.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Okay. He was pitching good enough to keep them in. Right.
- 5:44Speaker 2: He made one mistake.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Well, the mistake was cheating.
- 5:47Speaker 2: He threw a sweeper that didn't leave the zone. That's
- 5:49Speaker 2: all he did.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and cheating. Well, that too.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And Stu, to your larger point, Yankee fans having anything
- 5:57Speaker 1: to complain about today, it's really just nitpicking because the
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yankees didn't just eliminate the Red Sox. They embarrassed the
- 6:04Speaker 1: Red Sox. On the topic of being embarrassed, I'm embarrassed
- 6:08Speaker 1: I spent even a second worrying about this Red Sox team.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Here it comes after the fact.
- 6:13Speaker 1: That offense, Mikey. Lifeless. Non-competitive at-bats. No fight. Boston went
- 6:21Speaker 1: 26 consecutive postseason innings without scoring. The best moment of
- 6:27Speaker 1: that game for me, Mikey, that highlights how incompetent the
- 6:31Speaker 1: Red Sox looked on offense.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Nick Sogard.
- 6:34Speaker 1: No, Nick Sogard in the seventh inning. Mm-hmm. Boston's getting
- 6:38Speaker 1: absolutely destroyed. Sogard hits a home run to make it 8-2.
- 6:42Speaker 1: It cuts to the camera in the Red Sox dugout
- 6:44Speaker 1: when Sogard gets back there. and they're doing their Green
- 6:47Speaker 1: Monster home run gimmick celebration down six. What, you want
- 6:50Speaker 1: them to give up? I don't want you to give up,
- 6:53Speaker 1: but maybe drop the gimmick home run celebration. Guys, you're
- 6:56Speaker 1: getting your teeth kicked in. Read the room. You're about
- 7:00Speaker 1: to get eliminated in Yankee Stadium. You're celebrating like you
- 7:03Speaker 1: just took the lead in June.
- 7:05Speaker 6: It's an organization that came back from being down 3-0
- 7:08Speaker 6: in the ALCS.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Oh, look at Ricky Mantle over here. He is mimicking.
- 7:14Speaker 4: What are you doing? Here, take the microphone and tell
- 7:16Speaker 4: everyone what you just did.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Well, I just made a face because that was just
- 7:20Speaker 1: one year, 2004, and that is not going to happen again.
- 7:22Speaker 1: 22 years ago, yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Big-time Yankee fan, Ricky Mantle. Jesus Christ.
- 7:28Speaker 6: They outscored the Red Sox 18-2, but you want the
- 7:31Speaker 6: Red Sox to give up in that spot?
- 7:33Speaker 1: I don't want them to give up. That's... I want
- 7:36Speaker 1: the Red Sox to fight until the last.
- 7:37Speaker 6: They showed some fight. They were celebrating a home run.
- 7:40Speaker 6: I mean, they had nothing to celebrate for two games.
- 7:42Speaker 1: They put the Red Sox, the Wally green monster head
- 7:46Speaker 1: on the dugout and they're, they're bopping around and having
- 7:49Speaker 1: a great old time, but who cares?
- 7:51Speaker 4: You moved on to Tampa. They're going home.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That was a Boston massacre.
- 7:56Speaker 4: That was bad.
- 7:58Speaker 5: And Contreras, Contreras hits a solo home run that scrapes
- 8:01Speaker 5: the wall.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:03Speaker 5: And he took, He took almost 20 minutes going around
- 8:07Speaker 5: the bases. He literally walked the last, like, 30 feet
- 8:10Speaker 5: to the point where Max Fried is like, what are
- 8:12Speaker 5: you doing? Like, we're still up, and you're doing this
- 8:17Speaker 5: walk like you just walked off the World Series.
- 8:20Speaker 2: What are you doing?
- 8:22Speaker 6: Why don't you guys celebrate that you have a good team?
- 8:24Speaker 6: I mean, Verlander picked you to go to the World Series.
- 8:27Speaker 6: Ben Verlander, he had Yankees and Phillies. You have a
- 8:30Speaker 6: great pitching staff. Freed was good last night. Schlittler was
- 8:33Speaker 6: good in game one. And now you have Garrett Cole
- 8:35Speaker 6: set up for game one of the next series. Like,
- 8:37Speaker 6: you guys are in a good spot right now.
- 8:39Speaker 1: With the way that Schlittler's pitching, with the way Freed's pitching,
- 8:42Speaker 1: that one-two combination, ultimate faith right now. Right now, the
- 8:46Speaker 1: story for this Yankee team is the offense somehow looks
- 8:49Speaker 1: deeper and more dangerous than it has in years.
- 8:51Speaker 4: They don't start hitting until late in the game, though.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I will give you that. You've said that all year. Yes.
- 8:56Speaker 1: But even then, with this team... It no longer really
- 9:01Speaker 1: feels like Aaron Judge is just dragging the Yankees through October.
- 9:04Speaker 1: It actually feels like a baseball team where you see
- 9:06Speaker 1: them playing some small ball. You see George Lombard and
- 9:09Speaker 1: Spencer Jones. the young guys on this team injecting life
- 9:12Speaker 1: into the offense and manufacturing runs. And, Stu, I don't
- 9:17Speaker 1: think you want to say the Yankees are better without
- 9:19Speaker 1: Aaron Judge going into this Tampa series.
- 9:21Speaker 4: It seems like you want to say it. Watch it.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Watch it because he'll tell everybody you're saying it.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Well, I mean, Mikey did say it, and he was right,
- 9:27Speaker 4: by the way.
- 9:28Speaker 1: So I'm not going to go as far to say
- 9:30Speaker 1: the Yankees are better without Aaron Judge.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:33Speaker 1: But there might be something there where the other eight
- 9:36Speaker 1: guys in the lineup are looking around like, Hey, Aaron
- 9:39Speaker 1: Judge isn't here to save us and drag us through anymore.
- 9:42Speaker 4: They've got to pick up their games.
- 9:43Speaker 1: We have to pick up the slack.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Yes, so say it. Say what you want to say.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Just say it. I want this team to take this
- 9:51Speaker 1: mindset into Tampa Bay, but instead of Elliot Ramos at-bats,
- 9:54Speaker 1: we're replacing them with Aaron Judge at-bats.
- 9:57Speaker 6: I did not watch the end of the game. I
- 9:58Speaker 6: didn't see the celebration. Was Aaron Judge a part of
- 10:01Speaker 6: the celebration?
- 10:02Speaker 1: Was he into it? Yeah.
- 10:04Speaker 4: He passed the test for you? Team player? Yeah.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I have no questions about Aaron Judge. He's our captain.
- 10:11Speaker 6: Well, it seems like you do have questions about Aaron
- 10:13Speaker 6: Judge as to whether your team is better off without him. No.
- 10:16Speaker 1: My questions are not about Aaron Judge. My questions are
- 10:18Speaker 1: about the rest of the team slacking off when they
- 10:22Speaker 1: see Aaron Judge in the lineup because they look at
- 10:24Speaker 1: him as a three-time MVP saying, oh, he's just going
- 10:27Speaker 1: to hit three home runs and we're going to win
- 10:29Speaker 1: this game 3-0. because he had three solo home runs.
- 10:32Speaker 6: So what do you think the Yankees do here with
- 10:34Speaker 6: Judge for the next series here in terms of the roster?
- 10:37Speaker 4: Are they going to put him on the roster, you think?
- 10:39Speaker 4: Do you want him on the roster?
- 10:40Speaker 1: If he's healthy, I want him on the roster.
- 10:42Speaker 4: If he's healthy?
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Okay. If he can play the field? Yes. Okay.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Even if he's just healthy enough to run the bases,
- 10:49Speaker 1: I think you have to have the conversation of putting
- 10:52Speaker 1: him at that DH spot.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Mikey, do you think he'll be on the Yankees roster
- 10:56Speaker 4: for Tampa?
- 10:58Speaker 2: I do. I think that was their plan all along.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I would be a little worried about having him as
- 11:04Speaker 5: just a DH because that's going to eliminate one of
- 11:08Speaker 5: your better bats in the lineup because either Ramos or
- 11:11Speaker 5: Rice would then have to sit. It ain't going to
- 11:14Speaker 5: be Rice. So that means Ramos, the I'll call him
- 11:18Speaker 5: the hero of game two.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Garcia Jr.
- 11:21Speaker 2: That's what I said. Garcia, Ramos. Yeah, Garcia.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Tomato, tomato.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I mean. Yeah, he would have to come out of
- 11:27Speaker 2: the lineup.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Okay. But Judge is a better hitter. Like whoever he replaces,
- 11:32Speaker 4: he's better. That's all.
- 11:35Speaker 2: When healthy he is.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Wait, so what's the ideal situation?
- 11:38Speaker 6: He plays in the field and takes out a bat
- 11:40Speaker 6: that's not nearly as important.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Is that what you're saying?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Then he would take out Ramos or Garcia. Or Grisham.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Yes, and Trent Grisham is like... I don't even know.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I don't know how to put into words Trent Grisham because.
- 11:55Speaker 4: You look at the box... I want to hear him try.
- 11:57Speaker 4: Hold on.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You look at the box score and Trent Grisham went
- 11:59Speaker 1: two for three. He had a massive bunt, too, in
- 12:03Speaker 1: this game for the Yankees that loaded the bases. Which
- 12:06Speaker 1: I beg for. I beg the Yankees to play small.
- 12:08Speaker 4: He doesn't do that if Judge is in the lineup,
- 12:10Speaker 4: I tell you that much.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Trent Grisham in center field, like My biggest problem with
- 12:15Speaker 1: Trent Grisham is it just doesn't look like he cares
- 12:18Speaker 1: out there. And you're like, oh, come on, Taylor. That's
- 12:22Speaker 1: being unfair to say Trent Grisham doesn't care. And then
- 12:25Speaker 1: one of the Red Sox first hits of the game
- 12:27Speaker 1: is a bloop in front of Trent Grisham, and he
- 12:30Speaker 1: jogs to the ball, and Nate Eaton's able to get
- 12:32Speaker 1: a double. This stat from Chris Kirshner. Trent Grisham had
- 12:36Speaker 1: a sprint speed of 23.5 feet per second on that
- 12:39Speaker 1: Nate Eaton double. which Trent Christian's jogging allowed Nate Eaton
- 12:44Speaker 1: to get the double.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Only three players had a slower sprint speed than that
- 12:48Speaker 1: this season. Christian Vasquez, Jose Trevino, and Sandy Leon. All
- 12:52Speaker 1: three are catchers in their mid to late 30s.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Maybe Trent's just slow, though.
- 12:58Speaker 1: He's not slow.
- 12:58Speaker 2: He's not slow. He's not.
- 13:01Speaker 1: He's just so lackadaisical in the field.
- 13:04Speaker 2: He's a center fielder. That's emergency.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Yes. You guys won. Jesus.
- 13:09Speaker 6: 18-2 over two games against the Red Sox.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Mikey, what about that Cody Bellinger moment where you bring
- 13:28Speaker 1: in Cody Bellinger.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Sweet swing.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yes, especially with that short porch at right field. Him
- 13:33Speaker 1: and Luis Garcia Jr., you could make an argument. Two
- 13:37Speaker 1: of the best swings ever for that short porch. The
- 13:39Speaker 1: three-run home run that he hits where those are moments
- 13:42Speaker 1: you bring him in October. He blows the game open.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Boston season's essentially over. Earlier in the game, Stu, his dad,
- 13:49Speaker 1: former Yankee Clay Bellinger, throws a ceremonial first pitch to
- 13:53Speaker 1: Cody before the first. Goosebumps. Before the game.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Yes. A couple of Bellingers cutting it up.
- 13:58Speaker 1: And then he puts the Red Sox season in the ground.
- 14:00Speaker 1: That's a Yankee moment. How can you not be romantic about.
- 14:03Speaker 2: A baseball moment?
- 14:07Speaker 4: Baseball. Baseball, Ray.
- 14:11Speaker 2: People will come, Ray.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Are you guys nervous about the race?
- 14:15Speaker 6: Before we get to that real quick, did you guys
- 14:18Speaker 6: say Chad Tracy is a sprinter to the mound when
- 14:21Speaker 6: he wants to get his pitcher out?
- 14:23Speaker 4: He thinks if he goes faster, it's going to happen.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Chad Tracy can't wait to go to his bullpen.
- 14:28Speaker 4: I hate that guy.
- 14:29Speaker 3: His starters could be having the games of their life,
- 14:33Speaker 3: and if his analytics tell him, hey, Sonny Gray can't
- 14:36Speaker 3: go through the third time through a lineup, even though
- 14:39Speaker 3: the analytics say that Sonny Gray might be the best
- 14:41Speaker 3: pitcher ever.
- 14:42Speaker 1: In the American League, going through an order for the
- 14:44Speaker 1: third time, he's like, nope.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Right.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Our analytics are telling us we have to make a
- 14:49Speaker 1: quick hook here.
- 14:49Speaker 2: We have to bring in a middle reliever. Right.
- 14:51Speaker 4: So it's analytics or.
- 14:52Speaker 6: Someone has told him that he's cheating his pitcher and
- 14:55Speaker 6: he sprints out to get him. Does he realize that
- 14:57Speaker 6: if he walks to the mound, he could still take
- 14:59Speaker 6: the pitcher out?
- 15:00Speaker 1: He can't wait.
- 15:02Speaker 4: He literally can't wait.
- 15:02Speaker 2: He can't wait.
- 15:04Speaker 4: It's a waste of a sprint.
- 15:05Speaker 2: The door's open to Disney.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 1: It's like a general admission concert.
- 15:11Speaker 4: He's got to get in.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:13Speaker 1: General admission concert. They open the doors and everybody's sprinting
- 15:17Speaker 1: to get front row.
- 15:18Speaker 4: He's trying to get to Soren.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Chad Tracy rope drops the dugout.
- 15:27Speaker 6: I can't stand the manager that sprints out to the
- 15:29Speaker 6: mound like he's hustling. He's setting some sort of example
- 15:34Speaker 6: for the rest of his team.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Are you guys nervous? Tampa Bay is good.
- 15:39Speaker 6: They have had a history of being good in the
- 15:40Speaker 6: regular season. Sometimes they don't get it done in the postseason.
- 15:44Speaker 6: Are you guys nervous about the Rays coming up here?
- 15:46Speaker 1: So I'm nervous about the Rays just because they're the
- 15:48Speaker 1: best team in the American League. The way they play
- 15:53Speaker 1: has normally given the Yankees fits where it's similar to
- 15:57Speaker 1: last year when the Yankees played the Blue Jays. Like
- 15:59Speaker 1: a team that's just trying to put the ball in
- 16:01Speaker 1: play and force the Yankees to play defense, that makes
- 16:04Speaker 1: me a little bit worried. And they do run the
- 16:07Speaker 1: base as well. I'm just telling this right now to
- 16:10Speaker 1: Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay, you listen to me.
- 16:12Speaker 4: All right. Tampa, listen up.
- 16:14Speaker 1: You better not let us get game one. Because if
- 16:16Speaker 1: you let us get game one, it's over. It's over
- 16:19Speaker 1: if we get game one.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Must-win game for Tampa?
- 16:23Speaker 2: I was just going to say, are the Yankees playing
- 16:24Speaker 2: back-to-back must-wins?
- 16:25Speaker 1: So the Yankees, it's not a must-win game for the Yankees.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Just for Tampa, Mikey.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It's a must-win game for Tampa because they have Drew
- 16:32Speaker 1: Rasmussen pitching game one. Yankees, it sounds like it's going
- 16:36Speaker 1: to be Garrett Cole. It's kind of lining up for
- 16:38Speaker 1: Garrett Cole. It still could be Carlos Rodon, I guess.
- 16:41Speaker 1: But if Tampa doesn't get game one and then you
- 16:44Speaker 1: have Cam Schlitter going in game two and then Max
- 16:46Speaker 1: Freed coming back to Yankee Stadium game three, series is over.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Okay, so that's the game they got to get, game one, right?
- 16:52Speaker 4: Good pitcher on the mound.
- 16:53Speaker 6: You have your third, fourth best pitcher on the mound.
- 16:55Speaker 4: You got to get that one. And you've had rest. Yes.
- 16:58Speaker 1: And this ALDS is the rare ALCS.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Like whoever wins this one.
- 17:04Speaker 6: Ah, the World Series preview. So wait, this is for
- 17:08Speaker 6: the World Series. Not a World Series preview. That would
- 17:10Speaker 6: be a team from the American League and the National League.
- 17:12Speaker 6: You're saying that the other series doesn't matter. That whoever
- 17:15Speaker 6: wins Rays-Yankees is going on to the World Series.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yeah, whoever wins Rays-Yankees will be in the World Series.
- 17:22Speaker 1: White Sox-Guardians, like congratulations.
- 17:24Speaker 4: The White Sox are a nice little story. Come on.
- 17:26Speaker 4: They are.
- 17:26Speaker 6: I mean, it's a massive market, Chicago. But it's a
- 17:29Speaker 6: nice little story. That team was dreadful a year ago.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, congratulations. Nice little story. Collect your playoff money. Collect
- 17:36Speaker 1: your bonuses for a couple of extra games. Sell a
- 17:39Speaker 1: couple of extra games.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Should they not play the series? It seems like it
- 17:42Speaker 4: doesn't matter.
- 17:43Speaker 1: You can play this series. So I guess you can
- 17:45Speaker 1: hang a banner or something.
- 17:46Speaker 4: All right. Who's the other team? The Guardians?
- 17:48Speaker 1: The Guardians, yeah. Two irrelevant teams.
- 17:50Speaker 4: I think I agree with Taylor.
- 17:52Speaker 1: This is it.
- 17:53Speaker 4: This is the ALCS.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I've been consistent on one thing. The worst Taylor is
- 17:59Speaker 1: Yankee Taylor. The worst.
- 18:02Speaker 4: The worst. I mean, even Ricky Mantle is rolling his eyes.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Nick's tailor is very steady.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Yes.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yankees tailor is volatile.
- 18:15Speaker 5: He has us as the best team ever, but I'm
- 18:17Speaker 5: terrified of the White Sox.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Well, he's ignoring the guardians of the White Sox.
- 18:22Speaker 6: He knows baseball is a funny and tricky sport where
- 18:25Speaker 6: the Marlins have won the series twice since 97.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I mean, a parallel to the Knicks run that the
- 18:31Speaker 1: Knicks just went on their title run. Yes. You would
- 18:34Speaker 1: figure the Yankees-Tampa series, those games in Tampa Bay, it's
- 18:38Speaker 1: going to be similar to when the Knicks were playing Philadelphia,
- 18:42Speaker 1: or the Sixers in Philadelphia.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Yankee crowd.
- 18:44Speaker 1: It's going to be, like, what, probably 80% Yankees?
- 18:46Speaker 4: I would say 70.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Does anybody in Tampa Bay care about that team?
- 18:49Speaker 4: Dick Vitale. That's it?
- 18:51Speaker 6: Yes, Dickie V. I mean, he's a monster race fan.
- 18:54Speaker 6: We should get him on for the series.
- 18:55Speaker 4: We should, actually. I'm going to ask him.
- 18:57Speaker 2: A lot of my family lives in Tampa. They're all
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yankee fans. They're going to the game not to wear
- 19:02Speaker 2: Tampa stuff.
- 19:03Speaker 6: I know Dickie V isn't feeling well, and we wish
- 19:06Speaker 6: him well because I love Dickie V. He became a
- 19:08Speaker 6: friend when I was at ESPN, but we need to
- 19:11Speaker 6: get him on.
- 19:11Speaker 4: He would do it. I'm telling you. He loves talking
- 19:14Speaker 4: Rays baseball. Loves it.
- 19:16Speaker 1: If you're the Tampa Bay Rays here, and this is
- 19:18Speaker 1: a move that if I was a Yankee fan, I
- 19:20Speaker 1: would hate if they even considered doing this at Yankee Stadium.
- 19:23Speaker 1: But if you're the Tampa Bay Rays here and you're
- 19:24Speaker 1: trying to get any extra dollars you can, You sell
- 19:27Speaker 1: Yankee stuff in your team store this series, right?
- 19:30Speaker 4: Without shame, yes.
- 19:31Speaker 6: 80% of your crowd is going to be Yankee fans, yes.
- 19:36Speaker 4: 70 to 80%, I would say, yes. You do it
- 19:38Speaker 4: without shame.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I wouldn't have any raised gear.
- 19:41Speaker 4: I would only have a Yankee shop. Oh, God. Mikey,
- 19:49Speaker 4: so you seem to agree. with Taylor that the Yankees,
- 19:51Speaker 4: this is it.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Don't let us get one.
- 19:53Speaker 6: Don't let them get one, and the other series doesn't matter.
- 19:56Speaker 4: This is for the right to go to the World Series,
- 20:00Speaker 4: even though they have to play four more games at least.
- 20:03Speaker 5: I would agree with that part. The get game one, yeah,
- 20:07Speaker 5: that's big. But this is the ALCS. I mean, congratulations,
- 20:11Speaker 5: Guardians and White Sox. But, like, what are we doing here?
- 20:16Speaker 4: The Guardians were good this year, weren't they?
- 20:20Speaker 1: No.
- 20:21Speaker 5: The Rays can absolutely beat the Yankees. They're pitching defense.
- 20:26Speaker 5: They're small ball. They do all the right things. They
- 20:29Speaker 5: got two guys in the middle of the lineup that
- 20:30Speaker 5: just hit. I get that white socks guardians. Thanks for coming.
- 20:37Speaker 5: This is your world series.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Two 85-win teams, right? I understand, right? You had 93,
- 20:43Speaker 4: I think, right?
- 20:44Speaker 5: Yep.
- 20:46Speaker 6: Just dismissing those two teams in game one. So it's
- 20:50Speaker 6: not a must win, just so we're all clear on this, okay?
- 20:53Speaker 6: Not a must win for the Yankees. No.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Just a must win for the race.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Must win for the race.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Jesus Christ. Yankee Taylor is the worst kind of Taylor.
