- 0:23I'm Carre here with Stu. Saystu. Hey, all right, so
- 0:26we're going to Mississippi this week. Um, Stu, do you have or
- 0:31do we have anything we want to talk about? I know I want to
- 0:35talk about Vanderpop Rolls, but I won't. No, you cannot. Although
- 0:40the reunion was this week part one, Stu. Anyways, but I will
- 0:45not talk about it because I talked about it last week. And yeah,
- 0:48so, um find us on the Instagram, the facebooks. I'm going to
- 0:54get to the business. We have a Patreon Join us there. We have
- 1:00early releases, ad free things like that, and it supports the podcast.
- 1:06We really appreciate it and write review subscribe on iTunes. And speaking of Patreon,
- 1:11Stude, do you have some names. We're trying to get through the
- 1:14names of all of our Patreons right now to give him a shout out because
- 1:19we're very appreciative. We have Emily, we have Sandy, and we have
- 1:26Lexi. All right, well, we think you're very active on the social
- 1:29media's as well. Oh okay, thank you Emily, Sandy. It's not
- 1:38that I don't know your names. It's just that I am trying to remember
- 1:41what he just said because I don't listen to him as you know. I
- 1:45literally his voice comes on and I'm like, I don't feel like this is
- 1:49gonna help me in life, so I'm just going to tune it out.
- 1:53That's why we're in two separate houses right now recording this. Yeah, so
- 1:57that's not true. We'll need more Patreon money to be able to accomplish that
- 2:00goal. Yes, anyways, we appreciate you guys, and yeah, so
- 2:07yeah, go go check out the patron Probably this summer we'll probably take a
- 2:13little break from the podcast because we need a little vacation as well. And
- 2:16during that time, I think we'll do last time. We told somebody that
- 2:21it was two and a half. I know, but we've been doing really
- 2:24good Stu. We've had a really good track record since January. We've been
- 2:28every week. I mean, that's really good. So during the summer,
- 2:31we're probably going to take a slight break and we'll probably just put some Patreon
- 2:36episodes out. We'll not put the regular episodes out, and then in the
- 2:40fall we'll pick back up. But it's not right now. We're I don't
- 2:44know when it's going to happen. We won't stop completely. It's just that
- 2:47we might need a little bit of break and everything. No, Stewart,
- 2:54shut up, Oh my god. Anyways, all right, so with that,
- 3:00let's go ahead and get into Let's go ahead and get rid of the
- 3:02dog, and then we'll get into this week's episode. Out of Mississippi.
- 3:07Stacy Diane Panell was born September fifth, nineteen sixty seven, to Wiki and
- 3:14Judy in Mississippi. Stud Wiki's dad's name wi c Ki. Stacy was the
- 3:22oldest of three, a sister who was three years younger than her name Kim,
- 3:24and a brother who was ten years younger named Bradley. Stacy was described
- 3:30as fun to be around. She made friends very easily, and she just
- 3:32loved life. She was tenderhearted and always wanted to help those less fortunate,
- 3:38which is completely unlike me. No, I'm kidding. Kind of Their family
- 3:43spent the summer's camping and being at the lake. They're very outdoorsy, stude,
- 3:46super outdoorsy family. No, you're not. What's outdoorsy about you?
- 3:51I go outside so I can go to work walk. You walk from out,
- 3:54it's from inside of our home to your vehicle and get in that vehicle
- 3:58and then walk from a parking lot into a store and that's your outdoor time.
- 4:03Yeah, okay, yeah, that's the equivalent of my outdoor time as
- 4:06well. So Stacy's favorite song was Summer of sixty nine by Brian Adams.
- 4:13Are you familiar, Stu, I'm familiar with it. It was number one.
- 4:15I don't know if it was number one, but it was the radio,
- 4:18okay, so well, yeah, I'm sure it was number one.
- 4:21At some point. Stacy attended Ripley High School in Ripley, Mississippi, which
- 4:26is in the northern part of the state, almost to Tennessee. Now,
- 4:30while in high school, Stacy was passionate about rifle drill team and I had
- 4:33to look up rifle drill team. But it's very similar. It is.
- 4:39It's a rifle, but I don't think they were real rifles like you do
- 4:44in because Stu. Stu was in the Marine Corps and he did the rifle
- 4:48drill team. I don't know, No, No, I saw you do
- 4:54something similar to what I looked up and Stacy was doing. Okay, well,
- 4:59you had a rifle and you did some things. No, we carried
- 5:03it. We did inspections, we didn't flip it and do all kinds of
- 5:06other stuff. What did you do in the at the Marine Corps ball though,
- 5:13right? Drill team? I can't even talk to you. Okay,
- 5:20it wasn't rifle drill team, but stud I was on the sword detailed past.
- 5:30We are married and we have been together a long time. I forget
- 5:33things. Was it a sword? I thought it was a rifle? No
- 5:40rifles? Okay, Anyways, Stacy hates me right now. I'm gonna need
- 5:46some Patreon money to pay for my divorce attorney. No, it's not that,
- 5:49it's just I don't know where to go with this. I don't know
- 5:53what to say. It was the sword at the at the Marine Corps ball,
- 5:56I'm seriously asking it was a sword? Yes? Oh okay, I
- 6:00thought you were doing it with a rifle. Thinking back, okay, so
- 6:08Stu was on the soord details. So rifle drill team was not a marine
- 6:12Well there is. There is a silent drill team in the Marine Corps.
- 6:15Okay, Well, then stop acting like I'm stupid. You just weren't on
- 6:17it. It's a it's a whole different unit somewhere else. Okay, well
- 6:24I'm not worried about that unit. All I've been worried about is your unit.
- 6:27Anyway. Yeah, so anyway, so she was on the rifle drill
- 6:30team and I did look this up. It was actual. It was like
- 6:32drill team but with rifles. But they weren't real rifles. They were just
- 6:38made up of it. I don't think they were made out of wood.
- 6:40They weren't made out of medal, but they weren't actual rifles you could shoot.
- 6:44So this love of drill team would continue with her to college, where
- 6:47she was a member of the Tiger Marching Band at Northeast Mississippi Junior College in
- 6:51Boonville, Mississippi. As a mouthful. Yes, she was able to receive
- 6:57an academic scholarship to a ten school after graduate, waiting fourth in her class
- 7:00of a hundred in high school. Now, during high school, Stacy dated
- 7:04Ben Cox and they even stopped shaking, and they even became engaged. Her
- 7:12senior year. However, Stacy would break it off with him prior to starting
- 7:15college. She wanted the freedom to see, you know, where life took
- 7:17her. She didn't want to be tied down so young. I mean,
- 7:23she was going to Boonville, Mississippi. I mean, that's gotta be a
- 7:26lot of life to live in Booneville. I'm making fun of this, as
- 7:32I grew up in a very small town, so it's not like I was
- 7:36heading off to the big city whenever I graduated high school either. You know,
- 7:42we just make fun of the things we knows do. That's how life
- 7:44works. So anyway, so she wanted this freedom to see where life took
- 7:46her. Now, while Stacy was excited about this new chapter of her life,
- 7:50she was not quite ready to move from her home. See. Stacy's
- 7:54father, Wicki, was battling brain cancer and she knew her time with him
- 7:59was limited. So she really wanted to commute to school and still live at
- 8:03home because you know, she didn't know how long you would have. However,
- 8:09being part of the band and being a band member, it was required
- 8:11that she had to live on campus, which I know they have those kind
- 8:15of rules and stuff that it's all about the school spirit and all the things
- 8:18and being available. Rab already kick him in the knee, you know.
- 8:22So Stacy moved into Murphy Hall on campus with her new roommate, Any Wheeler.
- 8:28Now in between classes and band practices. She would make every effort to
- 8:31travel back home to visit her father and her family, so she was very
- 8:35family oriented even though she was away at college. On October seventh, nineteen
- 8:41eighty five, Stacy headed out to play a softball game, and then after
- 8:45that game, she met up with friends at a restaurant called Pizza Factory just
- 8:48outside. I wonder what they sold, stud cow zones. Probably probably cow
- 8:54zones. That's not even a good one. You should have said, like
- 8:56Chinese food or something. You're trying to be funny. They probably did solve
- 9:00cowl zone Stewart, Yeah, it's a pizza factory. A cow zone is
- 9:03just a pizza fold in half without the sauce. Well I didn't say the
- 9:05cow zone factory not doing it? Okay, Well you're a factory now.
- 9:09After eating at the pizza place, she rode with friends and they stopped at
- 9:15the boy's dormitory Saucy. She wanted to stop and talk to a fellow by
- 9:20the name of Tommy Osborne. Tommy and Stacy had recently started dating. Now
- 9:26she decides to stay for a bit, so her friends split head back to
- 9:31wherever they're going, and later that evening Tommy drives Stacy back to her dormitory
- 9:37and drops her off. Now around two thirty am on October eighth, so
- 9:41this is early morning, hours after the softball game. Amy, Stacy's a
- 9:46roommate, knocked on the door of her neighbor, Stephanie Alexander, asking her
- 9:50if she could let her in the room, as she had locked herself out,
- 9:54and Stacy wasn't answering when she knocked on the door. So she's knocking,
- 9:56knock a knock, and nobody's come in, so they go. She
- 10:00goes over to next door. Now, the layout of the rooms was that
- 10:03there was two beds on one side with the bathroom connecting like a I guess
- 10:07like a Jack and Jill type situation. So there's a room on one side,
- 10:11a Jack and Jill bathroom, and then a room on the other side
- 10:16with the two beds. So you could access the other room as long as
- 10:20yeah, as long as the bathroom wasn't locked, like they could lock that
- 10:24door and lock their thing, but you could. As long as you could
- 10:26access that bathroom door, you could get into the other side of the room.
- 10:30So Stephanie agreed and Amy entered their dorm Stephanie and Amy just thought Stacy
- 10:33might have been partying and that she passed out and just couldn't hear Amy's knocks.
- 10:37They walking through the bathroom into Amy and Stacy's room, and they noticed
- 10:41Stacy is lying like abnormy on the bed, like almost like she had passed
- 10:46out or something like that. So Amy jokes about it, saying that she's
- 10:50just in this funny position everything. She's like, oh god, she or
- 10:54you know, Stacy's drank too much. She came in, just passed on
- 10:58the bed, she couldn't hear me knock, and she's just laying there looking
- 11:01all weird. Her legs were positioned that they were hanging off of the bed,
- 11:05and her underwear was pulled down. So I'm sure they just thought,
- 11:07oh, she was drunk, she was getting undressed or something. I mean,
- 11:11we've all been there, stude, you know. Yeah. So Amy
- 11:15walks over to Stacy and was going to help position her better so she wasn't
- 11:18half out of the bed and half in the bed. Trying to be a
- 11:20good roommate and everything. So she picks up her leg, but to Amy's
- 11:26surprise, it's very heavy and very cold, like she was not expecting that
- 11:31whatsoever. She's confused, but she starts looking. So she starts looking around
- 11:35and she sees blood everywhere because remember the lights are off, it's two thirty
- 11:39in the morning. She really starts to having to look and everything and things
- 11:43start looking ond to her. Now Amy and Stephanie they ran out of the
- 11:48dorm and went to her friend Belinda's dorm for help. Amy asked Belinda to
- 11:52go check on Stacy, so Belinda headed to the dorm room again, entering
- 11:56through Stephanie's room like I would be like, why are you coming to ask
- 12:00me? There's blood all over the place in a dead heavy leg. We
- 12:03need to call a professional. So Blenda goes down there and after seeing Stacy,
- 12:07Blenda ran to get the dormmother. Like this, this is like a
- 12:13what are like some what is the shows that are funny and it's it's like
- 12:18chaos and sitcom? Yeah, but with Margaret, it's like what is happening?
- 12:24So they run to get the dormmother Edna. Of course Edna is the
- 12:28name of the dormother I mean, can it be any other name? So
- 12:31Edna is like the adult in this in this scenario, So she calls campus
- 12:35security to come unlock Stacy's dorm room, and upon upon finding Stacy, the
- 12:39security team they call nine on one. So it takes all these people to
- 12:45call NIMA one for poor Stacy who's in there having something terrible of having happened
- 12:50to her life. I know she wasn't clinging to life, but I mean,
- 12:54I can't even believe that it took this many people to because what happened
- 12:58was the dormother from what I understood, she wouldn't enter through Stephanie's room how
- 13:01everybody else had been entering. So she goes to the door and she's like,
- 13:05well, I'm not going to enter unless I have security allow me to
- 13:09come in. And so she waited for security to come and then did this.
- 13:13I mean, it's just better not be choking on a peanut. Yeah,
- 13:18and it's like, we gotta follow the rolls. Fuck you Edna,
- 13:22God damn now please arrive on the scene and they find eighteen year old Stacy
- 13:26lying with her back on the bed. She had her left leg resting on
- 13:30the bed and right foot resting on the floor. She was partially covered with
- 13:33bed linens and was nude from the waist down. Her underwear we're pulled down
- 13:39around her lower left leg. A pillow had been placed over her head,
- 13:43and there was blood near her head on the headboard. Stacy had severe injuries
- 13:48to the left side of her head, and there was a large amount of
- 13:50blood on her head and on the pillow next to her. All of times
- 13:54I gotta say, head, I'm described. This was the actual court record,
- 14:01Stuart. I don't know. Okay, this is not the time to
- 14:03be saying. Just be freaking saying, head. Well, I don't know
- 14:09what you're saying. Nless you're getting some then you don't want to be saying
- 14:11you want to pause this right now? You're so gross what this is inappropriate?
- 14:18This is why we get bad review. Start. This is not why
- 14:22we get bad review. Okay, this is why. There's a lot of
- 14:24other reasons. Okay, well this is one of them. Now. There
- 14:28were blood spatters throughout the room, on the walls and ceiling and as far
- 14:33away as nine feet from her body. Near her body, they found a
- 14:37white drill rifle. The rifle had blood on the handle that was smeared around
- 14:41the barrel with a towel. It looked like someone that tried to wipe it
- 14:46clean. Yeah, there's blood all over it and then just on the on
- 14:50the barrel, just mid cleaning mid yankee off the shaft. Yeah, they're
- 14:58like they probably looked around like, ah, this is pointless. I need
- 15:01to get the hell out air. Yeah. I don't know why you'd try
- 15:03to clean the rifle when you got blood nine feet away from the body.
- 15:07It's like, it's it's a moot point I were trying to take as a
- 15:11souvenir and didn't want it to be noticeable or something. I have no clue
- 15:13what the hell they were doing. Well, maybe they're just trying to clean
- 15:16it off so that you wouldn't see what the actual murder weapon was, you
- 15:20think, Or maybe they had their hands there and they were wiping away.
- 15:22Prince, Well, this is true. They would have beat her with the
- 15:26drill rifle and it would have been on the barrel that would have used the
- 15:33barrel end. They would have held the barrel ind as a handle and hit
- 15:35her with the butt. Yes. Now, based on the initial scene,
- 15:41police believe she had been beaten to death with that drill rifle. Huh.
- 15:43Like we said to it's almost and this is exactly why we have bad reviews.
- 15:48Now, They checked the dorm room and find that no belongings were taking
- 15:52her purse was still there with money in it, and it did not appear
- 15:54that robbery was the motive. Based on the state of her clothing, underwear
- 16:00down and her shirt pulled up, they believe sexual assault was the motive.
- 16:04When looking around to see where the attacker had entered, they find that the
- 16:08screen on a window near Stacy's bed had been cut. The screen had a
- 16:12hole about eight to ten inches long and eight to ten inches wide. Now
- 16:18I'd be suspicious. Yeah, you think Stewart that it's only eight to ten
- 16:22inches wide. I mean, who can fit through that? You can crawl
- 16:26through there if you get small and crawl to ten inches wide and ten inches
- 16:30tall. That's not those hands. Nobody was bigger than ten inches. It's
- 16:37less than a ruler. But nobody cuts a guy down screen and breaking.
- 16:41You just pulled a screen off the window. Anyways, Well we'll get further
- 16:44into the Stewart. Just like in the Darly Root here is if you it's
- 16:48like you think you wrote this case, but you did not. So the
- 16:52way Stacy died was very violent, and autopsy would later reveal that she had
- 16:56been bludging multiple times in the left side of the head with the butt of
- 17:00the rifle. Now there would have been a lot of rage behind this killing.
- 17:03The autopsy also revealed that Stacy had not been raped. Upon further view
- 17:07of the cut screen, they noticed the scream had been cut from the inside.
- 17:11Stewart, shut up. I know whoever killed Stacy was trying to mislead
- 17:15the police. They had staged the rape and cut the screen to make it
- 17:19look like an intruder entered from outside. They now needed to look at people
- 17:26living in the dorm as well as people close to Stacy that might have been
- 17:30let inside the room, because obviously there wasn't a struggle, so Stacy probably
- 17:33let whoever come into the room, or they were lying in wait. I
- 17:38don't know, because they still would have had to break in. Stuart,
- 17:44you don't have any sense at all. Yeah, First, police interview everybody
- 17:51that was in the dorm that night, and no one recalls hearing any screams
- 17:55or any type of commotion. Stephanie, who lived in the dorm room attached
- 17:57to Stacy's so that she had been doing homework, then she went to sleep
- 18:03and she didn't hear anything until Amy knocked on her door, so they began
- 18:07retracing her steps that day and find out that the last person she spoke to
- 18:11was Tommy. So they visit Tommy at his dorm room around seven thirty am
- 18:15the morning of Stacy's murder, just saying the short name for Tommy is tom
- 18:19and we all know that Tom's are terrible. Right now, now, Tommy
- 18:26tells police that he dropped Stacy off around eleven fifteen pm and returned to his
- 18:32dorm. Police interview witnesses and they tell police that Tommy was in the dorm
- 18:36the entire night. They continued to question Tommy since he was the last one
- 18:41to see her supposedly alive. Anyway, start what just read the paper?
- 18:48Now? They ask if he'll take a polygraph test and if they could search
- 18:52his room, so he agrees to both. I'm just so disappointed all these
- 18:56things where they just rely on these polygraph tests, you know, yeah,
- 19:00come on, yeah, sure, I'll take it. I mean, but
- 19:03I guess back in the eighties they thought it was like solid proof, you
- 19:07know, horsehit. Nothing suspicious was found in the dorm room and Tommy did
- 19:12pass the polygraph, So after this they cleared Tommy as a suspect to their
- 19:18own demise. And I'm kidding even though his name is Tommy, which is
- 19:23could be tom for short, which means he's a bad person. So STU
- 19:30ask Stu. Unfortunately, during while we were taking a small break, he
- 19:36made the mistake of ask of talking about vander Pump rules and it went into
- 19:41an entire um explanation with examples and everything, and he regretted ever being born
- 19:49already been down recording us right now now. When questioning family and friends,
- 19:52they found they discovered that the ex fiance been the Cox go ahead and lax
- 20:00laughs to Police learned that Ben was very upset about the ending of the relationship.
- 20:06Friends say he had come to Stacy's dorm room before wanting to talk to
- 20:10her. Now. Stephanie told police that Stephanie the next door neighbor, I
- 20:15don't want to get confused because Stacy Stephanie very similar names. Stephanie the next
- 20:19door neighbor told police that at one point Stacy tried to give back the ring
- 20:23and he would not accept it. She said that Stacy told her that Ben
- 20:27would not take no for an answer and that Stacy seemed kind of like afraid
- 20:32of him. After all these interactions. Now with this information, police set
- 20:36out to find this motherfucker you know it's Ben Cox. Yeah. They bring
- 20:41Ben in and he denies any involvement. Of course he does. He told
- 20:45them the last time he had seen Stacy was about a week ago. He
- 20:49told them he was at home the whole time, and his mother, of
- 20:52course saw him in bed around the time that around eleven PM. The time
- 20:59that stay, she was in her dorm room. Now she had just gotten
- 21:03off work whenever she saw him at a round eleven PM, is what she
- 21:07said. So Ben agreed to take a polygraph as there was no one to
- 21:10alibi his whereabouts during those hours after the murder, because she got off work
- 21:12she saw him. But where is he until Stacy's actually murdered? Like we
- 21:18said, Stacy got dropped off around eleven fifteen pm. But but her murder
- 21:22obviously occurred between that eleven fifteen and the two thirty am when Stephanie and Amy
- 21:29found her. Now Ben had inconclusive results with the polygraphs polygraph test, but
- 21:34there was no evidence at the crime scene to actually play all I know,
- 21:40we got him, got him done, got him. So they were at
- 21:42a loss. But they released Ben, but they would keep looking into him
- 21:47because, like say, had no heart evidence, but they're depending on these
- 21:49polygraph tests. Are like, that's a little little inconclusive. So we'll keep
- 21:55an eye on this motherfucker. How they gonna keep an eye on him.
- 21:59They're gonna just trail I don't know, Stuart, They're gonna All they have
- 22:02is his mother mother vouching for his whereabouts somewhere else with that mother mother ever,
- 22:10Yeah, anyways, that's all they have is the mother saying he was
- 22:12there, and then the inclusive polygraph and then no other evidence. So they're
- 22:17at a loss with this guy. Well, almost a year went by,
- 22:22fifteen different investigators had worked this case and they had interviewed over four hundred people.
- 22:27How do you interview four hundred people? Well, because it's a college
- 22:30campus, they had to interview everybody in the dorm room. They had to
- 22:33interview all the friends on campus, the band members, everybody. It's a
- 22:37lot of people they with this crime, with this crime because of being a
- 22:41college student, member of the band in a dorm. There's just a lot
- 22:45of people around this girl that they would have had to talk to and say
- 22:49does she have any enemies? Did you see anything? Did she talk to
- 22:52you about it? And like I said, she was a likable person.
- 22:56Like if it was me, they'd be like, we talked to three people.
- 22:59Okay, third person didn't even know her. They were just in the
- 23:03area. This is a true statement, but over quantity, Stewart, that's
- 23:14what I stay with, my friend. Yes, yes, Now, with
- 23:18nothing to go on, they turned to a police chief out of East Hazelcrest,
- 23:23Illinois, a guy by the name of Stephen Rhodes. They found Rhodes
- 23:27when one of the investigators had attended one of his lectures where he walked,
- 23:33Sorry that was that's a typo. It would have been talked, not walked.
- 23:41Stewart, That's what happens. Whenever I read what you wrote. I
- 23:47think you said I asked you to just read stuff all the time, and
- 23:51then you go like, didn't you just go off? And I'm like,
- 23:53Stewart, just stick to the script, for God's sakes. And then the
- 23:56one time I put a W instead of a T, and all of a
- 24:00sudden, it's like, oh my god, I can't believe I read this
- 24:02shit you write. Yeah, like I'm following the car navigation right into the
- 24:08pond or something. Maybe I set you up. I think I set me
- 24:12up for failure. Now, he often talked about special interrogation techniques. Hey
- 24:21called this technique neurolinguistic program that's not a type of that's the actual naming of
- 24:26its stewards or NILPE. Really Now, basically it was a way to tell
- 24:33his that's not what they call it NILP. Everybody, don't be walking around
- 24:36repeating that act like you're smart. That is something stew just made up and
- 24:40there's no eye if anything would be the NLP system or something. Yeah,
- 24:45NILPE, no STU worked. So basically, it's a way to tell if
- 24:51someone was lying based on their body language rather than what they were saying.
- 24:55I mean I whenever I first read this, I thought neuro linguistic programming.
- 25:00I like, this guy's a fucking dumbass. You know, he's just looking
- 25:03at tails. Yeah, he's just looking at body language to determine whether someone's
- 25:07lying or not. So he used examples of I've watched the whole situation,
- 25:11Like he's got a doctorate and stuff in this bullshit he's talking about like different
- 25:15things. He's like, yeah, someone says that saying yes about something,
- 25:19but they're shaking their head like no. That means that they're lying, Like,
- 25:22yeah, you dumb motherfucker. I got that without my doctorate degree.
- 25:27If someone is telling me no, but they're shaking their head yes, why
- 25:30they're saying it, then yeah, I think that they mean yes, but
- 25:33they're just saying no. Anyways, I think it's a bunch of bullshit.
- 25:37But whatever, munch of hocum. Yeah, Ok, and not the good
- 25:41kind of hocus pocus. I said, hokem not hocum. Well or hocus
- 25:45pocus, same difference. Well, police bring back in the roommate Amy.
- 25:51She passes her interview. On September eighteenth, nineteen eighty six. They bring
- 25:55in Stephanie. Rhodes started to pick up on some taels. He felt that
- 26:00she was lying about something. After having her go through her story multiple times,
- 26:06she finally said that she went back in the room. This is when
- 26:10they can continue to question Stephanie and she confesses, yeah, she's basically saying
- 26:15basically. He asked her over and over and over again, and then finally
- 26:18she came up with that she changed her story a little bit, and they're
- 26:22like, gotcha, bitch, you know, like Dave Chappelle, gotcha bitch.
- 26:27So Stephanie tells police that she and then after that she's just a freaking
- 26:32spring. She's just just just squirting it out stick. Oh sounds a little
- 26:41You're disgusting. Anyways, Stephanie tells police that she was doing homework in her
- 26:45room and took three coating tablets sometime between nine pm and ten thirty PM because
- 26:51of pain from an ovary infection. I don't even want to know what that
- 26:53feels like, because I know what just in general, just ovary pains can
- 26:59feel like from either you know, womanly stuff for pregnancy stuff, and it's
- 27:06terrible. Stuart, shut up. You don't know anything about ovary pains.
- 27:10So she had been out earlier in the evening, playing cards and visiting friends,
- 27:14and this included Tommy Osbourne's. This is prior to her coating tablet taking
- 27:21between nine thirty and ten thirty PM. This is her actions before. So
- 27:25she dozes off after taking that, she starts doing homework, and she do
- 27:29after taking that coating well. She wakes up around twelve thirty am when she
- 27:33heard Stacy and some other girls returning home in the adjacent room and Now the
- 27:37girls were helping Stacy get to her room because she had been drinking STU hardcore.
- 27:44Now she heard Stacy say Tommy is so fine, I could fuck his
- 27:48brains out. And this is what Stephanie's saying she heard. I mean,
- 27:51this is verbatim, this is her. She actually, this is what she
- 27:55had written in a statement to police. So here's that. And like I
- 28:00said, she had been hanging out with Tommy earlier the night, so she's
- 28:03I think she was a little sweet on Tommy. So Stephanie asked them to
- 28:07be quiet, and the girls helping Stacy, they decided to leave after they
- 28:11got her into the room. Now Stephanie couldn't go back to sleep, so
- 28:15she went back to Stacy's room to talk. She asked Stacy if she had
- 28:18fun that night, and Stacy said she did. Now they talked about Tommy,
- 28:22whom Stacy, like I said, had been dating. So they talked
- 28:26about a boy Stephanie had been dating as well. They then talked about Tommy
- 28:30again. Now Stacy asked Stephanie what she thought about Tommy, and Stephanie said
- 28:36she thought he was fine. And this is a quotation marks while he was
- 28:41fine, that's the Lingo in the day. Yep. So Stacy told Stephanie
- 28:47you had better stay the hell away from him. I'm tired of you in
- 28:51your fucking room. I guess there's a little room on room hatred going on.
- 28:55So we have Stephanie and her roommate and Stacy and her roommate on the
- 28:57other side of the bathroom door. So if like, that's probably a pretty
- 29:02contentious situation. If you don't like each other, you have to share a
- 29:03bathroom, I mean it can't go. Yeah, if you don't you hate
- 29:10each other and you have to share a bathroom, that's the ultimate. You
- 29:14might as well just just put him in a ring together and put some boxing
- 29:17gloves because they're gonna go at it. Yeah, or Stewart, don't turns
- 29:22into a sexual situation, jello or mud or whatever. So Stacy was standing
- 29:29in front of the mirror and pointing her finger in Stephanie's face. Now Stephanie
- 29:33mentioned Tommy again and Stacy slapped her. Starts Stewarts re enacting this entire scene
- 29:41right now, Stacy, what did I say? Stacy slapped her. So
- 29:45Stephanie then called Stacy a bitch and slapped her back. So we're in a
- 29:48bitch slapping situation. Now. Stacy told Stephanie, I better not see you
- 29:52hanging around him. I'll kill you, do you hear me? And again,
- 29:56this is obviously Stacy is has been murdered. So this is all Stephanie's,
- 30:03you know, recollection of what occurred that night. So Stacy slapped alex
- 30:07erst Stacy slapped Stephanie again, and Stacy then put her hands around Stephanie's throat
- 30:14and Stephanie kicked her to get away. Stacy fell off the bed onto the
- 30:18bed and started to get up to go towards Stephanie. And Stephanie had been
- 30:22twirling Stacy's drill rifle the whole time they've been talking, so she has this
- 30:26in her hand, she's messing with it and everything that as they're getting into
- 30:29this altercation. Now, at some point, Stephanie had laid it back down
- 30:33against Stacy's bed, but Stacy then picked up the drill rifle and says,
- 30:37she hits Stacy. Now, Stacy, what, Stuart, what is that?
- 30:42What I said? Yeah, no, I said, Stephanie picked up
- 30:45the drill rifle and hit Stacy. Stacy fell back onto the bed. That's
- 30:51not what I said, Stuart, That's fucking not what I said. I'm
- 30:56almost positive, man, Okay, I'm not playing it back. Stephanie fucking
- 31:00hit Stacy with the drill rifle. Stacy ll back onto the bed, and
- 31:04Stacy got up and started towards Stephanie again and called her a fucking bitch,
- 31:10just like Stewart is right now. Wow. Stephanie then hit her again with
- 31:15the drill rifle. When Stacy fell back on the bed, Stephanie hit her
- 31:18three more times with the drill rifle. And again, this is all Stephanie
- 31:22saying all this. This is her exact things she wrote out to police.
- 31:26Stephanie says she was out of it and because of the codeine and she didn't
- 31:30know what she was doing. The rifle fell out of Stephanie's hand and she
- 31:33locked the door to the hall, washed her hands in the sink, and
- 31:37put a pillow over Stacy's head because she just didn't want to see all that
- 31:41she had done. Stephanie then got a steak knife that Stacy had barred from
- 31:45Stephanie out of the drawer and cut the screen so that would look like someone
- 31:49had come through the window. But Rookie mistake. You should have cut it
- 31:52from the outside. I should have just thrown the screen, Yeah, kicked
- 31:56the screen in or something and done something. Actually, got to do it
- 32:00from the outside. You gotta be realistic. So she pulled Stacy's underwear down
- 32:04so that it would appear that someone had raped her, and she tried to
- 32:07wipe off part of the rifle. Now, Stephanie then took a bath and
- 32:10burned the screen that she had cut out and the shirt she had been wearing
- 32:15in the toilet of the bathroom. Which of the adjoining two rooms. Smoke
- 32:19was in the bathroom. So Stephanie then sprayed some of Amy's perfume in the
- 32:22bathroom and then Stephanie just went back to bed, went to sleep like whatever
- 32:27casual. She'd been drinking and taking Cody and so with just casual, like
- 32:32I'm just gonna commit a murderer, burn the evidence, and then go to
- 32:36sleep. She was tired. The fuck this pitch is crazy, you think,
- 32:42Yeah, well, if she's on coating and drinking, I bet all
- 32:45of you were shot right now. You didn't You didn't see Stephanie coming as
- 32:49the murderer. Now you didn't you? Oh well, you read ahead but
- 32:53whenever you're reading the head you're like, oh, well, I didn't see
- 32:55that one coming. Well I might have said that. Okay. Anyway,
- 33:00police were in shock because they never suspected Stephanie either. I hate us right
- 33:06now. This is where we get this exact episode. Is why we're gonna
- 33:08get bad reviews because we're just like nonchalant about this. It's very tragic what
- 33:15happened to Stacy. Well, let's just say that right now. We understand
- 33:17it's very tragic. But Stephanie's fucking ridiculous with her codine and her burning shit
- 33:22and spray and perfume and doing all this stuff. She's a fucking nightmare.
- 33:28She deserves to be made fun of. I want to know what a roommate
- 33:30had to say about her? Is that any Yeah, we No, we
- 33:32didn't get to talk to the roommate. I guess she wasn't there. No,
- 33:36that's too bad. Well, I want to know what Stephanie was like
- 33:38being in a regular day to daylight. Yeah, day to day. Now,
- 33:44they had spoken to Stephanie several times throughout the investigation, and she had
- 33:49been helpful the whole time. Stephanie gave the same confession on three different occasions,
- 33:53once on September eighteenth, again on the nineteenth, and again finally on
- 33:59September twenty one. Yeah, this whole thing where she walks through, I
- 34:01mean it's almost verbatim how her and Stacy had this altercation. So this wasn't
- 34:07a one off. This crazy investigator from Chicago or whatever her Illinois came in
- 34:13and like manipulated her. This was She'd done this on three this exact statement
- 34:17three different times. Well, on top of that, on top of her
- 34:22three signed confessions while in jail, Stephanie also wrote an eleven page letter to
- 34:27Randy Price, which as a boy she had been dating for about a week.
- 34:30In that dumb bitch, I'm sorry, she again confessed to the crime
- 34:37and described the circumstances surrounding the killing. Stephanie told Randy that she didn't mean
- 34:42to do it and that it was an accident. She explained to Randy that
- 34:45she had been heavily sedated and had a mental block about the killing. She
- 34:50wrote that she hadn't been able to remember killing Stacy before, but had nightmares
- 34:55about the killing. Stephanie told Randy that she had known what she was doing
- 35:00at the time. It's a lot to confesses them when you've been dating a
- 35:04week, brilliant, it's a lot. I mean Randy was probably like thanks,
- 35:07like Jesus, yes, because I would have hated to have to break
- 35:10with her. She might have murdered me too, Like I need to get
- 35:14away from this crazy girl. Yeah, I would have dropped out of that
- 35:16college and trans Oh yeah, I would just transferred, changed my name.
- 35:19But like, I gotta go away from Stephanie, changed your name. I
- 35:22gotta get away from Stephanie Stewart. You're so so stupid. So on September
- 35:28twenty second, nineteen eighty six, Please announced that twenty one year old music
- 35:30major, music major Stewart, I don't know what that says about her,
- 35:34Stephanie Alexander, had been arrested and charged with the murder of Stacey. Now,
- 35:37Stephanie's bell was said at one hundred thousand dollars, which she actually posted
- 35:42stude she came up with, which hundred thousand dollars? You only for a
- 35:45bell, bondsman, you need to come up with ten percent, So it's
- 35:47fine. Uh. During this time, Stephanie began claiming her innocence. Stephanie
- 35:52contended that the confessions confession she had had she had made were a product of
- 35:59hipnotic suggestion, and her lawyers argue that they were inadmissible. She said,
- 36:05someone hypnotized me, this fancy lawyer from Illinois. So Stephanie claimed that the
- 36:10authorities had been desperate to solve the case and that they planted the story in
- 36:14her mind that she had killed Stacy. Our hearing was held in June of
- 36:17nineteen eighty seven to determine if the statements made by Stephanie to the investigators and
- 36:22that letter to old Randy were voluntary or if they were made due to coercion,
- 36:28threats, or promises of leniency or hypnotic suggestion. Now, during the
- 36:32suppression hearing, the court heard from everyone who was present when Stephanie was making
- 36:37these confessions, writing these down everything like that. The trial judge overruled Stephanie's
- 36:43motion to suppress the statements given to law enforcement officers and that letter to Randy
- 36:47while she was in custody. The court found, and this is quote beyond
- 36:52a reasonable doubt that Stephanie was at no time hypnotized during the sessions, and
- 36:57that Stephanie was properly advised of her rights and she was not under the influence
- 37:00of hypnosis at any time when she made the confessional statements. That Stephanie acted
- 37:06voluntarily at old times pertinent to the confession. I'm sorry. You don't fucking
- 37:10confess three times and write a letter on three different days and write this letter
- 37:15to this like Randy dude and say you're you're under hypnosis the whole time.
- 37:22That's so stupid. I mean, they're just throwing shit at the wall.
- 37:25Seriously, Steward, you don't think she's innocent now, you're just saying that
- 37:30because you know she's out right now, Well, yeah, I don't want
- 37:32her look at and you should have seen her like a real bitch, a
- 37:38real Karen. Let me tell it, kind of like you're looking at Marina.
- 37:42Yes, oh god. Now. A change of venue was granted Stephanie
- 37:45due to publicity, and the trial began on January fourth, nineteen eighty eight.
- 37:51The jury, consisting of five men and seven women, heard thirty two
- 37:54witnesses and reviewed ninety pieces of evidence. On January twenty fifth, night eighty
- 38:00eight, the jury deliberated for an hour and fifty minutes, and they returned
- 38:04a verdict of guilty on manslaughter, which was the lesser charge than the prosecution
- 38:07requested. The jury had the option to find her innocent, guilty of capital
- 38:14murder or manslaughter. Yeah, the prosecution really wanted the capital murder charge,
- 38:19but they didn't get it obviously. Yeah, shut up, Stu, I'm
- 38:22just trying to link, summarize. I'm brading here, Okay. I know
- 38:28it's a struggle for you, I know, get the hamster world, sound
- 38:31out the big words. The judge sentence Stephanie to twenty years in the custody
- 38:36of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Stephanie continued to claim her innocence and filed
- 38:40an appeal, but lost that. Her lawyers argued that the x fiance was
- 38:45the one that killed Stacy that night, and that police had used a dangerous
- 38:49man to get the confession out of Stephanie's That roads dude from Yeah, this
- 38:55is in the newspaper, like a newspaper article. Our newspaper journal interviewed him
- 39:00and they called him a dangerous man. Yeah, they said that he used
- 39:04tricks and chicanery, chicanery to obtain the confession. The paper's question why local
- 39:10investigators could not get a confession out of Stephanie in a year, but Rhodes
- 39:15came into town and he did it in one hour. I think he just
- 39:19I mean, it is odd, I'll say that, but I think after
- 39:22a year maybe it just got to her that she had done this. I
- 39:25mean the fact that if it had been one single confession that day and then
- 39:30the next day she immediately said, this didn't happen. But how do you
- 39:35do it three times, three different days, with three different people, and
- 39:39then also write that letter, so it's a total of four times like that.
- 39:44Consistent? Yeah, all consistent. Everything was the same. I mean,
- 39:46I don't know how you write it to the new boyfriend or the new
- 39:50guy you're dating and write that in your own words and your own Gael cell
- 39:53and it's not true. That's it's not a one off situation. So Steve
- 39:59Rowe it was from Illinois, probably Chicago. That was probably al Bundy's neighbor
- 40:04back and when before he went to become a park ranger. What al Bundy
- 40:08was neighbors with Steve and Marcy Rhodes. Okay, Then Steve Rhodes left Marcy
- 40:15and went to pick I'm a park ranger, and then she married Jefferson Darcy,
- 40:20so she became Marcy Darcy. I'm real sad that you know this,
- 40:23this much detailed information about al Bundy. Al Bundy married with children, Yes,
- 40:32okay, yes, I grew up during that time when it was a
- 40:37hit show. Yeah, but the fact that you know the whole history is
- 40:39a little bit disturbing. What do you mean in the whole history? Ted
- 40:45Bundy? Sure, I'd be impressed. No, Al Bundy. How do
- 40:51you know that this wasn't the neighbor at what episode did Rachel meet Ross or
- 40:55whatever? How they meet? I'm sad that you know that Rachel and Ross
- 41:00met each other because that was Monica's best friend in high school, and so
- 41:04she met Ross back in high school. But they re met back in New
- 41:08York in the first initial pilot episode whenever Rachel left the Altar and didn't get
- 41:14married and ran in there in her wedding dress into the coffee shop central Perk
- 41:19and Saul, Monica and Ross and everything in It's a whole ordeal. Anyways,
- 41:25Well, I'm sad. I'm sad for you. So Stephanie would only
- 41:30serve ten years of her prison sentence, with which was the minimum required before
- 41:34being eligible for Pearl now Stephanie who is now Stephanie Loudon has at least one
- 41:38son that I found, and she started to go fund me. This is
- 41:44just some not fun I'm not gonna call him fun fact, some random facts
- 41:50that this woman has out on the internet. So she started to go fund
- 41:53me for him back in twenty twenty two to go to south Wind Drum and
- 41:57Bugle Corps Corp Corp Core. She raised one thousand, six hundred and thirty
- 42:04eight dollars of the five thousand dollars she wanted. Now, I'm not saying
- 42:07anything bad about the sun. The sun can't help it. He's just born
- 42:10into this murderer. But she was diagnosed with stage four small Why are you
- 42:17looking at me? This is what happens when people put their public their profiles
- 42:22on Facebook publics. Dude, Ward, I'm gonna look it up. Anybody
- 42:27who's in one of our cases. I always look up their profiles on Facebook.
- 42:30And so if you make it public, and you have go fund mes
- 42:32and you have different posts about your health diagnosis, then I'm gonna see it.
- 42:37You would you like me not to continue to read? Oh? No,
- 42:40you can continue to read. She was diagnosed with stage four small lumpsidic
- 42:46leukemia in twenty nineteen, and she started to go fund me for that as
- 42:51well, but she only raised six hundred and eighty five dollars. Now,
- 42:53she currently owns a music business of some sort, and she has been on
- 42:59two Crew true crime shows professing her innocence. And that's all I got.
- 43:05No, I do not. I think she did it because there were taels.
- 43:10Well, no, because she confessed three four times. Yeah, that
- 43:15was the tail that they got the she I think the one guy just asked
- 43:17her so many times he just got lucky, and she freaking confessed to it,
- 43:21and then she confessed two more times and then wrote a letter about it,
- 43:24and then she got lucky because she only had to be in jail for
- 43:27ten years for this, which is a bunch of bullshit. So whatever,
- 43:30it's per capital murder. Yeah, I probably has manslaughter. If she was
- 43:34drunk on Cody, I think she. I'm sorry, I don't care.
- 43:37You shouldn't be you should be in jail longer than ten years. I didn't
- 43:42say how long she should be in jail. I'm just saying that the manslaughter
- 43:44is appropriate as opposed to ain't she had that son. I'm assuming she got
- 43:47knocked up in prison. I don't know why would she get knocked up in
- 43:51prison. I'm sure there was conjugal visits. I don't know if she found
- 43:53a husband there. I'm just saying the math isn't adding up well. Years
- 43:59nineteen eighty six or eighty five, nineteen ninety five and her son was in
- 44:04high school not that long ago. Okay, Yes, she got pregnant after
- 44:07her prison, so basically she got out of prison and then started a new
- 44:13life, basically got married, had a son, at least one, started
- 44:17some go fund means. Anyways, but I guess we will see you next
- 44:23time by her one say, by stud, by stud, don't you know
- 44:29it's bye to be supersticious? By nothing else is working? Hurting sick by carriage
