- 0:02Speaker 1: to let you know what's happening here. This entire month

- 0:09Speaker 1: some movies that we reviewed but you've never heard. That's right.
- 0:13Speaker 1: These reviews appeared exclusively on our Patreon account, but we
- 0:18Speaker 1: dug them out from the vault and we're gonna celebrate
- 0:21Speaker 1: Christmas in July. I gotta tell you, Megan, I'm a
- 0:24Speaker 1: little bit concerned because I don't know what I said
- 0:26Speaker 1: about these movies. Oh, you should probably give these episodes
- 0:30Speaker 1: a listen to. We hope you enjoy this month on
- 0:34Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hamewark. As always joined us on our Facebook
- 0:37Speaker 1: group to talk about these movies and these reviews. Enjoy
- 0:40Speaker 1: the episode preon Welcome to a bonus episode of Girls
- 1:03Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark. I'm Megan. I'm windy. Sometimes I forget what
- 1:08Speaker 1: we're doing. I know it's because we do so many things.
- 1:11Speaker 1: That's like do what what's up? What are we? Where
- 1:13Speaker 1: are we at? What do we do use this for? What?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Do ye? Yes? Today we're disgusting. We're disgusting. I actually am.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I'm still in my pajamas, which I never do and
- 1:26Speaker 1: I put on a beanie and I put my bathroom
- 1:28Speaker 1: over my pajamas because it was cold. My kids were mortified.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But well, car, let me tell you what I have on.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I have on some like really loose soft capri pants, yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and then big socks which I wore with regular old
- 1:43Speaker 1: tennis shoes. Yeah, and a totally loose sweater. I have
- 1:47Speaker 1: like super BedHead from last night. And I took my
- 1:50Speaker 1: daughter to school like this today because I was like, whatever,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I'm not getting out of the car, nobody's gonna see me.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So the same. I'm in my Christmas pajamas in the
- 1:58Speaker 1: drop offline this morning, which is pretty unusual for me.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I do usually get dressed. We should point out it
- 2:03Speaker 1: is pouring rain in southern California today, so I was like,
- 2:06Speaker 1: I can't. I cannot motivate to get up and get
- 2:09Speaker 1: ready this morning. Yeah, and everybody is in their cars today,
- 2:13Speaker 1: so anybody who like walks to school is in a
- 2:16Speaker 1: car today. It was crazy. It was pandemonium out there.
- 2:19Speaker 1: It was, But I did think this would be the
- 2:21Speaker 1: morning that I would get in a car accident when
- 2:23Speaker 1: I'm in slippers and Christmas pajamas. So I had the
- 2:26Speaker 1: same thought, because I forgot my phone at home. Oh,
- 2:29Speaker 1: this is gonna be it. I'm going to get in
- 2:31Speaker 1: a car accident and I'm not gonna have my phone. Well,
- 2:33Speaker 1: we all made it home safely and we're here to
- 2:35Speaker 1: talk Sister Swap Christmas in the City. Hey, do you
- 2:38Speaker 1: have a synopsis of this movie? I assure you, And
- 2:41Speaker 1: it was a really long one. So I just took
- 2:43Speaker 1: a couple of sentences and made it my own. Are
- 2:46Speaker 1: you ready? Huh. Meg is helping Jennifer's restaurant staff and
- 2:50Speaker 1: Salt Lake prepare for a Christmas competition among local restaurants.
- 2:54Speaker 1: With the sisters switching cities leading up to the holiday,
- 2:58Speaker 1: they find a new sense of purpose discover what they
- 3:01Speaker 1: both truly need in life and in love. Hey, okay,
- 3:07Speaker 1: so when this we did review Sister Swap a Hometown Holiday.
- 3:14Speaker 1: For the main feed, we did a full news and
- 3:17Speaker 1: notes about the making of the movie. I do have
- 3:20Speaker 1: a couple new news and notes, but I didn't go
- 3:22Speaker 1: into the full I didn't rehash all of that. Yeah,
- 3:25Speaker 1: neither did I. I mean, I just really for my notes,
- 3:29Speaker 1: here's a little backstory. I just copy and pasted from
- 3:32Speaker 1: the first movie and then I found a couple of
- 3:35Speaker 1: little like tidbits, so let me hear what yours is,
- 3:37Speaker 1: and then maybe they might overlap and they might not. Okay,
- 3:41Speaker 1: So I would like to recommend to listeners of the
- 3:43Speaker 1: podcast that you find and I will leave a link.
- 3:46Speaker 1: We don't have traditional show notes because this is on Patreon,
- 3:49Speaker 1: but in the description box for this episode, I will
- 3:52Speaker 1: leave a link. There's a great interview on Seth Myers
- 3:55Speaker 1: with the Williams sisters and they're charming as hell and
- 3:58Speaker 1: they have so much chemistry together, which we know from
- 4:00Speaker 1: watching these movies, but they're just really fun to watch.
- 4:03Speaker 1: They tell a funny story about their childhood and they
- 4:05Speaker 1: bring it back to present day. It's like an eight
- 4:08Speaker 1: minute clip. It's just really joy filled and if you're
- 4:13Speaker 1: feeling the holiday blues, I recommend it. Yeah. And the
- 4:16Speaker 1: other thing I have is on Twitter. I saw that
- 4:19Speaker 1: Ashley Williams had a super adorable watch party. She's in
- 4:22Speaker 1: a hotel somewhere. I didn't honestly dig that deep to
- 4:25Speaker 1: figure out she must be in Canada, and I'll tell
- 4:28Speaker 1: you why. People who stopped by her hotel room watch
- 4:30Speaker 1: party were Nikki de Loach brooked your say Autumn racer,
- 4:36Speaker 1: Like it's like Hallmark, everybody's in town to February Valentine party. Yes, right, so,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and one of them even had a mask on, and
- 4:47Speaker 1: I wondered if she was in technically in quarantine because
- 4:50Speaker 1: she's prepping for a movie. Anyway, it just made me happy.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It just kind of was like, I wish I were
- 4:55Speaker 1: a part of this community. They just looked like they
- 4:57Speaker 1: were having fun and goofing off and there was no
- 5:00Speaker 1: like pretense about it. They were all in pajamas and
- 5:02Speaker 1: taking these like terrible blurry selfies and it brought me joy.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I think maybe I'm in the part of the holiday
- 5:09Speaker 1: season where I'm like, oh, everything's so nice. We recorded
- 5:13Speaker 1: an episode for our mein Feed yesterday where we talked
- 5:16Speaker 1: about our holiday traditions and that will already be up
- 5:20Speaker 1: as this episode goes up. That episode is actually already up,
- 5:24Speaker 1: and it just felt good to talk about like all
- 5:27Speaker 1: those things that we do and to kind of take
- 5:31Speaker 1: that hour to talk about that. I was like, that's
- 5:34Speaker 1: even when we're in the middle of it and we're
- 5:36Speaker 1: wrapping like crazy and shopping and running around. It was
- 5:40Speaker 1: kind of nice to have that moment of oh, yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 1: this is what's coming. So I think that maybe on
- 5:45Speaker 1: like a holiday high these days, I don't know, really,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I mean, give me a minute, I'll be crabby as hell.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I am just ready for it to wrap up. Like
- 5:54Speaker 1: I think it's because like these movies started in October, right,
- 5:59Speaker 1: and I've watched so many more like holiday movies than
- 6:03Speaker 1: I ever have. And then on top of that is
- 6:07Speaker 1: like real life Christmas stuff right now, I just it
- 6:11Speaker 1: feels like it's been months. So I'm just ready for
- 6:14Speaker 1: it to finish. Yeah, I have a confession. I watched
- 6:19Speaker 1: this movie this morning. Shut what time did you get up?
- 6:23Speaker 1: I started it at six thirty am. Oh my goodness.
- 6:26Speaker 1: So when I texted you last night, you really didn't
- 6:31Speaker 1: know what I was talking about. No, I didn't, I
- 6:32Speaker 1: realized this morning. But our intention was to watch it yesterday,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and then we ended up watching a movie with the kids,
- 6:39Speaker 1: and I was gonna watch it after that, and I
- 6:42Speaker 1: was too tired, so I got up this morning. Now
- 6:43Speaker 1: I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to
- 6:45Speaker 1: be mad. But I'm I'm ready, I'm prepared, So why
- 6:47Speaker 1: would I be mad? I don't. Here there's you know,
- 6:51Speaker 1: here's a confession. There's been times that I haven't even
- 6:54Speaker 1: watched the entire movie and I come here and review it,
- 6:57Speaker 1: so I'll never tell which one it was though. Okay, okay,
- 7:03Speaker 1: so let's get this poppin'. Oh I did have Well,
- 7:07Speaker 1: this is not really breaking news and notes here, but
- 7:11Speaker 1: we did already know from the previous movie that these
- 7:14Speaker 1: movies were filmed back to back. Yeah. Though, this new
- 7:18Speaker 1: note I saw was that particular scenes were shot from
- 7:21Speaker 1: multiple angles so that they could be used in both movies,
- 7:24Speaker 1: which kind of makes sense now seeing the second movie
- 7:28Speaker 1: when we saw like repeat scenes, you know what I mean,
- 7:32Speaker 1: So it gives them like a slightly different feel, even
- 7:35Speaker 1: though they're ultimately the same content, right exactly. And then
- 7:39Speaker 1: also in this movie, it stars Keith Robinson. He plays Joe,
- 7:44Speaker 1: the love interest of Meg, And I've never seen this
- 7:49Speaker 1: dude before, so I looked him up on IMDb. He
- 7:52Speaker 1: has over seventy two acting credits. Wow, a lot of
- 7:55Speaker 1: like shows I've never heard of, I've never seen. The
- 7:59Speaker 1: only real big standout was two thousand and eight Dream
- 8:02Speaker 1: Girls with Beyonce and what's her name? She was on
- 8:06Speaker 1: American Idol you know I'm talking about. Yeah, Jennifer Jennifer Hudson. Yeah,
- 8:10Speaker 1: well that's I liked him. I would not mind seeing
- 8:12Speaker 1: more of him in future Hallmark movies. And I have
- 8:17Speaker 1: some thoughts about him and meg Oh I get but
- 8:23Speaker 1: I enjoyed him like I thought he had like a
- 8:25Speaker 1: mega watts smile. I really enjoyed. Yeah, Okay, what was
- 8:30Speaker 1: your first impression of this movie? I would like to
- 8:32Speaker 1: apologize to Kimberly Williams Paisley, who I thought was super
- 8:35Speaker 1: intolerable in the first movie. It seems that Ashley Williams
- 8:38Speaker 1: is maybe the most intolerable. You know. I was watching
- 8:42Speaker 1: this movie and I was wondering if that was gonna
- 8:44Speaker 1: be your take, because Ashley Williams is at like ele
- 8:47Speaker 1: level eleven in this movie, Like seriously, She's high octane
- 8:51Speaker 1: the entire time. Now, I actually found this movie quite
- 8:55Speaker 1: charming and almost perhaps with one exception, I did not
- 9:02Speaker 1: think the love story was better than Hometown Holiday. I
- 9:05Speaker 1: did overall like the feel of this movie better what
- 9:10Speaker 1: I thought the cast chemistry Now, Mark Declan, Mark Declan,
- 9:16Speaker 1: Mark Declan, Mark Declan, the chemistry between Kimberly Williams Paisley
- 9:19Speaker 1: and Mark Decklan, their love story a thousand times better.
- 9:23Speaker 1: But I did really get like a lovey homie feel
- 9:27Speaker 1: for this cast. I don't know. Holiday, Hi, guys, Holiday Hi.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Oh oh okay, all right, okay, I've got like eight
- 9:36Speaker 1: hundred likes, so oh okay, go for it. Then, Well, first,
- 9:41Speaker 1: I like that we get a non home movie Kevin Neelan.
- 9:45Speaker 1: We get actual Kevin Neelan scenes. Not a lot, not
- 9:49Speaker 1: a lot. No. But I'm gonna tell you my wish
- 9:53Speaker 1: right now, because I think it's relevant to the Kevin
- 9:55Speaker 1: Nielan comment. And my wish is I listened after we
- 9:59Speaker 1: record our thoughts on a Hometown Holiday, I listened to
- 10:02Speaker 1: deck the Hallmark Thoughts on Hometown Holiday, and they suggested,
- 10:08Speaker 1: and I agree, that perhaps these movies should have been
- 10:11Speaker 1: done as a two parter and they should run concurrently.
- 10:15Speaker 1: So rather than getting beginning to end, rewind, beginning to end,
- 10:20Speaker 1: we get beginning to middle, middle to enduse I think
- 10:25Speaker 1: it would have made the movie richer, as opposed to going, wait,
- 10:28Speaker 1: what's happening in the other scene and the other with
- 10:31Speaker 1: the other seat, we get them back to back, so
- 10:33Speaker 1: we get them simultaneously. Now, I understand the flaws in
- 10:36Speaker 1: that plan, and I understand from a Hallmark standpoint, you
- 10:39Speaker 1: want your leading lady and you're leading man, and you
- 10:41Speaker 1: want your self contained love story, and I get all
- 10:43Speaker 1: of that. I think, no matter how you do it,
- 10:45Speaker 1: you have the issue of these two movies needing to
- 10:48Speaker 1: be watched back to back for them to make sense.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I agree. I thought prior to these movies coming out,
- 10:56Speaker 1: we had heard an interview or read an interview that
- 10:59Speaker 1: Kimberly Williams Fasley said one of the sisters said like, Oh,
- 11:02Speaker 1: you don't have to watch both movies to know what's
- 11:05Speaker 1: going on. You could just jump into one or the other.
- 11:08Speaker 1: But I think that's false. I think you're not going
- 11:11Speaker 1: to get a full picture. You're just gonna get these
- 11:14Speaker 1: Whatever the other sister's storyline is, it's going to be
- 11:17Speaker 1: really mild. Now. Could I have followed the Ashley Williams
- 11:19Speaker 1: storyline in this movie without having seen the other one, Yes,
- 11:23Speaker 1: of course, But you don't get the fully fleshed out
- 11:27Speaker 1: picture of what's happening behind the scenes and why the
- 11:30Speaker 1: scene in the movie Theater is so powerful, Like that
- 11:34Speaker 1: wouldn't land if you hadn't seen everything happening with Jen
- 11:39Speaker 1: and her plight to save the movie theater, so I
- 11:42Speaker 1: think you could follow them. I don't think there is
- 11:44Speaker 1: rich without each other. I agree. I agree we watched
- 11:49Speaker 1: the first movie. One of your wishes was for more backstory,
- 11:52Speaker 1: like we didn't really know what was going on. I
- 11:53Speaker 1: think we get a little bit more of that. I
- 11:55Speaker 1: think I understand Meg's character a lot more having watched
- 11:59Speaker 1: this movie, and that's where they're all coming from, which, again,
- 12:02Speaker 1: I think is an argument for maybe this is a
- 12:05Speaker 1: two parter as opposed to two different perspectives. You know,
- 12:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't like what Hallmark tried. I'm
- 12:11Speaker 1: glad that they're doing something different. I just tweeted something
- 12:14Speaker 1: this morning that I think Hallmark has leveled up this year.
- 12:17Speaker 1: And I think one of the reasons that they had
- 12:19Speaker 1: to level up is they had this really comfortable position
- 12:22Speaker 1: as the Christmas movie people. And when people talk about
- 12:26Speaker 1: like feel good Christmas movies, they kind of use Hallmark
- 12:31Speaker 1: Christmas movies the way you would use like Kleenex, right,
- 12:34Speaker 1: like it's a highand name. Yeah. Well, now this year
- 12:37Speaker 1: we've got something like one hundred and fifty streaming on
- 12:41Speaker 1: TV Holiday movies. Every platform has a movie. Many platforms
- 12:46Speaker 1: have many movies and Hallmark had to step up their
- 12:49Speaker 1: game in order to be the best in the business,
- 12:51Speaker 1: and I do think they get the lion's share of
- 12:52Speaker 1: the ratings. I think they did a good job. Now
- 12:55Speaker 1: it's every movie a winner, it's not, but I think
- 12:58Speaker 1: they stepped it up. I'm glad that tried something different.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I like the idea. I just think there's some some
- 13:05Speaker 1: flaws in the plan. Sure I am. I like anything
- 13:09Speaker 1: I did I did. I have a little list. I
- 13:14Speaker 1: will tell you that when I turned this movie on,
- 13:17Speaker 1: when I settled in to watch it the other night,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I was excited. It felt like a comfortable experience, meaning
- 13:27Speaker 1: like I knew it wasn't I knew the characters, you know,
- 13:32Speaker 1: Like I was like, oh, Okay, this is great, I'm
- 13:34Speaker 1: gonna watch Like it felt like a sequel or something. Anyway,
- 13:38Speaker 1: I liked both this movie and the first movie a lot,
- 13:41Speaker 1: So let me just say that. So, I was really excited.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I was excited to see like how Meg's side of
- 13:48Speaker 1: things unfolded. And now, do did it reach my level
- 13:53Speaker 1: of like how much I liked the other movie? No,
- 13:56Speaker 1: I don't think so, but I did like it. So
- 13:59Speaker 1: let me just say that now, I had said that
- 14:02Speaker 1: Meg was a lot uh in my first impression. But
- 14:05Speaker 1: what I did like about her is that she was
- 14:07Speaker 1: never fully discouraged by things, and she was always up
- 14:10Speaker 1: for something. Like at one point, he goes, you want
- 14:12Speaker 1: to go on a road trip, of course She's gonna
- 14:14Speaker 1: say yes. Like her face lit up. She was like
- 14:16Speaker 1: super excited. I was like kind of found that a
- 14:18Speaker 1: little bit, Like I was like envious of her, Like,
- 14:21Speaker 1: you know me, I'd be like, oh, we can't do
- 14:22Speaker 1: that because we like I just love that she just
- 14:25Speaker 1: like jumped into things like that was really cool. I
- 14:28Speaker 1: liked her. I liked her character. I liked her as
- 14:30Speaker 1: a person, you know, very inspiring, I thought. And she's
- 14:36Speaker 1: so pretty to look at, Like her eyes are just
- 14:39Speaker 1: so beautiful, and she has like flawless skin. I just
- 14:42Speaker 1: in these rosy cheeks. Like she's so pretty to look at.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I mean, I said, Ashley Williams is a damn delight.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I know that she was a lot in this movie,
- 14:50Speaker 1: but I think she was a lot in the right
- 14:53Speaker 1: ways for a Hallmark movie. M Yeah, Okay, there's some
- 14:57Speaker 1: funny lines in this movie, like Joe's like you're sort
- 15:00Speaker 1: of the town busybody, aren't you? Like, I just thought
- 15:04Speaker 1: that was funny. I liked that he called her out. Now,
- 15:07Speaker 1: we've seen lots of movies that have cookie decorating, and
- 15:10Speaker 1: there was an earlier movie this season where they're decorating
- 15:13Speaker 1: cookies for a client and it's like, straight up like
- 15:15Speaker 1: I would decorate them in my kitchen, which is to
- 15:17Speaker 1: say that they would look terrible, and they had beautiful
- 15:21Speaker 1: cookie decorating, Like, thank you for investing the time into
- 15:26Speaker 1: either someone having them done professionally or having someone come
- 15:29Speaker 1: teach you the techniques. They weren't using like Pillsbury frosting
- 15:33Speaker 1: out of a can. They were using like actual royal icing.
- 15:36Speaker 1: It was I appreciated that, Like, if they're going to
- 15:38Speaker 1: give away these cookies, they were beautiful, I know, but seriously,
- 15:42Speaker 1: the her reindeer cookie was like so detailed. I was like,
- 15:46Speaker 1: that would take you an hour to make. We're gonna
- 15:48Speaker 1: get twelve cookies done in like a full day. I mean,
- 15:51Speaker 1: the entire staff was doing it. They apparently had nothing
- 15:53Speaker 1: better to do. Yes, But but I would say that
- 15:57Speaker 1: the other staff skills were probably not as good as hers,
- 16:00Speaker 1: and whatever. Anyway, I agree compared to the other movie
- 16:04Speaker 1: we saw slapping all the frosting. Yea, I loved, love
- 16:09Speaker 1: loved that they wanted to make a free grocery store
- 16:12Speaker 1: at the food bank. Yeah. Now, I know this isn't
- 16:15Speaker 1: like like a I know it was part of the movie,
- 16:19Speaker 1: but it's like it's not really a takeaway. But the
- 16:21Speaker 1: takeaway for me is I had never thought about that before,
- 16:25Speaker 1: Like a free grocery store for people who need it.
- 16:28Speaker 1: And then there's like no shame around it, like just
- 16:31Speaker 1: calm and get what you need and it feels normal,
- 16:34Speaker 1: you know normal quote like whatever, right, I just going
- 16:38Speaker 1: to the grocery store for your family. I think there's
- 16:40Speaker 1: a that feels different than picking up a box of
- 16:43Speaker 1: food that's being handed to you exactly. And they did
- 16:47Speaker 1: something similar in that in that Netflix show made I
- 16:50Speaker 1: don't think you watched it. I watched it. She was
- 16:52Speaker 1: like she was in a domestic violence shelter and they
- 16:55Speaker 1: had a like free store of clothing and it was
- 16:59Speaker 1: made to be looked like a boutique. You would go
- 17:01Speaker 1: in there and get what you need and it wasn't like, oh,
- 17:03Speaker 1: here's a grocery bag of clothes to but wear, you know, right?
- 17:08Speaker 1: And I like the idea of like restoring their dignity. Yes,
- 17:11Speaker 1: you should have the opportunity to choose what they're gonna
- 17:13Speaker 1: wear and choose what they're gonna eat, as opposed to
- 17:16Speaker 1: it's free, be grateful, right right. I just loved it.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I just love that they put that in a Hallmark movie.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I just loved it. Ooh, our lights just flickered. Uh oh,
- 17:26Speaker 1: hopefully we don't lose power. I loved when Joe brought
- 17:31Speaker 1: coffee to Meg and she's like, what not hot Coco?
- 17:33Speaker 1: And he's like, I love Hot Coco, but how come
- 17:35Speaker 1: in December everyone shows Hot Coco on me? Like? Am
- 17:37Speaker 1: I not allowed to be caffeinated in the month of
- 17:39Speaker 1: There were a lot of funny lines, right, Yeah, that
- 17:42Speaker 1: was cute. Yeah, I liked I liked them. I thought
- 17:46Speaker 1: Alex and Martin were adorable. Oh so do I I
- 17:49Speaker 1: have it here too. I like the story of Alex
- 17:51Speaker 1: and Martin. That was really cute. And that's what I
- 17:54Speaker 1: texted Megan last night. I was like, have we ever
- 17:56Speaker 1: seen a same sex kiss on a Hallmark movie? And
- 17:59Speaker 1: she said, yes, we saw it last season with Christmas House,
- 18:03Speaker 1: which is a movie I didn't watch. So I saw
- 18:06Speaker 1: a tweet or an Instagram post from Jonathan Bennett, who
- 18:09Speaker 1: is in that movie and is one half of that kiss.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And apparently the jackets that they were wearing are in
- 18:14Speaker 1: the Smithsonian as the because that was the first same
- 18:17Speaker 1: sex kiss on the Hallmark channel get out. So yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 1: so it was serendipitous that you asked me that question yesterday,
- 18:23Speaker 1: because I'm not sure that I would have known that
- 18:26Speaker 1: that was the first on the channel having not just
- 18:29Speaker 1: seen that reminder. I would have guessed it, but I
- 18:32Speaker 1: wouldn't have known for sure if I hadn't seen that. Look,
- 18:35Speaker 1: I was stoked. Bravo Hallmark. Yeah, let's keep going in
- 18:39Speaker 1: then that in that direction we had what movie was it?
- 18:42Speaker 1: It was The Unexpected Christmas where his sister Becca was
- 18:47Speaker 1: in a same sex relationship. Like, let's yeah, let's keep going.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I'm stoked for it. They're the ice skating scene, yes,
- 18:55Speaker 1: with the mistletoe arch. Yes, I thought that was honestly
- 19:00Speaker 1: really adorable. So we have I believe that's where we
- 19:04Speaker 1: have Alex and Martin's first kiss, and then we have
- 19:08Speaker 1: their cute like scene where like they kiss. I believe
- 19:11Speaker 1: her name is Kate on the cheek in the messlete
- 19:15Speaker 1: and then Megan Joe ended up under there and it's
- 19:17Speaker 1: a little like awkward. But when she's left standing under
- 19:20Speaker 1: there and they pushed the missletoe back, I just thought
- 19:24Speaker 1: that was a well shot scene where she's kind of
- 19:27Speaker 1: like standing there and she does not get her miscletoe moment.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I don't know if I watch it that closely, I'll
- 19:34Speaker 1: go back and watch it. Because I did really like
- 19:36Speaker 1: this movie. I would watch it again. I'd watch both
- 19:38Speaker 1: movies again. So it's a really honestly for Hallmark powerful
- 19:43Speaker 1: scene where she's just left standing. The staff comes and
- 19:45Speaker 1: pushes the arch back up against the wall and she's
- 19:48Speaker 1: still just standing there by herself after Joe escated away.
- 19:51Speaker 1: The final thing I liked about this movie was the
- 19:54Speaker 1: storyline of reconciliation between Frank and his daughter. Yeah, I'm
- 19:58Speaker 1: going to add out what I wished for with this
- 20:01Speaker 1: because it's relevant, is that I wish for more of
- 20:04Speaker 1: this storyline. I wish that we had a deeper understanding
- 20:07Speaker 1: of why they had a falling out, why they needed reconciliation.
- 20:10Speaker 1: But I was so moved at the end that he
- 20:14Speaker 1: was so moved by the kindness of people in his
- 20:16Speaker 1: community that he wanted to invest into the food bank.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I just thought it was like a lovely, like full
- 20:22Speaker 1: circle moment. Yeah. Well, and we have talked about how
- 20:26Speaker 1: we would like more Sister Swat movies, like a Spring movie,
- 20:30Speaker 1: or at least we think the door's open. And I
- 20:33Speaker 1: think we have enough going on with these other characters,
- 20:37Speaker 1: Like we can see more of Alex and Martin, we
- 20:39Speaker 1: can see more of Frank and his daughter, we can
- 20:41Speaker 1: see more of what's going on with these other people
- 20:44Speaker 1: in the community. I think there's enough left open there.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I definitely think so. And if you think back to
- 20:50Speaker 1: the first movie, like there's there's more story with her parents,
- 20:54Speaker 1: right they wanted to do something else, There's more story
- 20:57Speaker 1: with like Mark Declan, I can't remember his care your name,
- 21:00Speaker 1: but their relationship so right. But you did see at
- 21:04Speaker 1: the very end that this said more to come, Right, Oh,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I didn't see that. That was like a they freeze
- 21:10Speaker 1: frame on them at that very very end of it.
- 21:14Speaker 1: You must have just like dipped out when it was over.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I saw like they freeze framed on the girls. Yes,
- 21:19Speaker 1: and it said something at the bottom about like more
- 21:22Speaker 1: to come. Oh I didn't even notice. Yes, it was
- 21:25Speaker 1: just like it was eight fifty six, and I came
- 21:27Speaker 1: upstairs and climbed into the closet. So there's two more
- 21:32Speaker 1: things that I liked. I loved that we had assumed
- 21:35Speaker 1: that these two movies would end in the same place,
- 21:37Speaker 1: and I honestly assumed that we would go full circle
- 21:40Speaker 1: and we would end right with them sitting in the
- 21:42Speaker 1: movie theater. And I love that we get in an
- 21:45Speaker 1: extra ten minutes, that we get an additional ending, that
- 21:48Speaker 1: there's more that as much as these movies shared that
- 21:53Speaker 1: they went and finished off this first movie, and I
- 21:57Speaker 1: think that ending scene is so fantastic, Like there's so
- 22:00Speaker 1: many great things about it. And the photo booth when
- 22:03Speaker 1: Meg and Joe were in there and they have their
- 22:05Speaker 1: cute photo booth kiss and he starts talking and she
- 22:08Speaker 1: says kissing, and I thought it was a really cute kiss.
- 22:12Speaker 1: As much as I didn't feel like they had a
- 22:15Speaker 1: ton of chemistry in this movie, I thought that moment
- 22:18Speaker 1: was really sweet. And then they come out of the
- 22:20Speaker 1: photo booth and she kisses them again and then goes
- 22:22Speaker 1: running off to her sister, and I thought that was
- 22:25Speaker 1: so real, Like I just kissed him, but they're not,
- 22:28Speaker 1: like we're married. And running off in the sunset together.
- 22:32Speaker 1: She's like the beginning of this fun new thing. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:36Speaker 1: that's a good point. Yeah, because I thought when she
- 22:38Speaker 1: ran out to her sister, I was like, really, like,
- 22:40Speaker 1: these are adults. But then you make a good point,
- 22:43Speaker 1: like Joe and Meghar are not getting married tomorrow. Like
- 22:47Speaker 1: it was like a fun, new, flirty like thing that's happening,
- 22:51Speaker 1: and she wanted to tell her sister. Yeah, yeah, I
- 22:53Speaker 1: got like it. Yeah, I hear you. So that is
- 22:56Speaker 1: my extensive list of things that I liked about this Okay,
- 22:59Speaker 1: let's talk about what you wished for. Well, I really
- 23:02Speaker 1: dove into mine. I just I'm not sure what the
- 23:05Speaker 1: ideal format for this movie was, but I do think
- 23:08Speaker 1: I would like the stories told concurrently, as opposed to
- 23:13Speaker 1: beginning to end, rewind, beginning to end. That's my big wish.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I hear you. I think I was a little bit disappointed,
- 23:21Speaker 1: like watching this movie and going, oh, this is the
- 23:23Speaker 1: same scene I saw in the movie before. You know,
- 23:26Speaker 1: I get why they had to do it, maybe could
- 23:29Speaker 1: have been executed differently. I have a question for you, though,
- 23:33Speaker 1: the end of this movie, are we supposed to believe
- 23:36Speaker 1: that this happens after they're scene at the movie theater.
- 23:41Speaker 1: That's my understanding, because that happened earlier than the end
- 23:45Speaker 1: of this movie. What are we talking me see a
- 23:47Speaker 1: day earlier? Or yeah, maybe the timelines are always weird in
- 23:51Speaker 1: these movies. I don't know. But we see that scene
- 23:54Speaker 1: where they decide to work together, and then there's still
- 23:57Speaker 1: ten more minutes of this movie. Oh, I don't even
- 23:59Speaker 1: remember saying, Oh, you're right, they were on the that's right,
- 24:03Speaker 1: that's right, they were sitting on the counter again. Yeah, okay,
- 24:07Speaker 1: you're right. Okay, never mind, here's something I wished for.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I needed Meg to dial it way back, like it
- 24:16Speaker 1: was almost like toxic positivity, like it was too too, too,
- 24:20Speaker 1: too much. I found it distracting at times, to be honest,
- 24:25Speaker 1: Like I was just like whoa Meg, Like, let's have
- 24:27Speaker 1: a different like emotion other than like level twelve. Right,
- 24:33Speaker 1: there was one scene, and it's when Joe basically tells
- 24:36Speaker 1: her that it's not gonna work out between them because
- 24:39Speaker 1: she hasn't figured out like what she wants. Uh huh,
- 24:42Speaker 1: And it looks like she's been punched in the gut,
- 24:45Speaker 1: like she makes like such a face and then like
- 24:49Speaker 1: and then she like switches it back to like a
- 24:51Speaker 1: smile and then like finding like, you know something positive
- 24:55Speaker 1: about of the situation. I don't know. Yeah, even when
- 24:58Speaker 1: they go to ask that woman to be the chef
- 25:00Speaker 1: and he's like what if she says no, she's like
- 25:01Speaker 1: the meat eat our feelings like yeah, just like I'm
- 25:04Speaker 1: so happy all the time. Yeah, I do know people
- 25:08Speaker 1: like that, and I'm so prone to being like, oh, well,
- 25:09Speaker 1: this sucks, and I would like to wallow with the
- 25:11Speaker 1: fact that this sucks. That I would have a hard
- 25:14Speaker 1: time being around a person like her because I need
- 25:17Speaker 1: someone who can like get into the muck with me,
- 25:20Speaker 1: for sure, because then I feel like if I get
- 25:24Speaker 1: into it and the other person's like, well, we're just
- 25:26Speaker 1: gonna right side this whole thing, then my feelings feel
- 25:30Speaker 1: invalid and like I should be turning my frown upside down.
- 25:36Speaker 1: And sometimes I need to just go through it. Mm
- 25:38Speaker 1: hmmm hmm. I don't do that to you, right, Oh
- 25:42Speaker 1: my gosh, No, you get in the muck. Okay, cool?
- 25:46Speaker 1: You know what? I do have one more wish? Yeah,
- 25:49Speaker 1: was Mark Declan in this movie at all? I never
- 25:52Speaker 1: saw him neither did I. Why wouldn't he come to
- 25:55Speaker 1: the party, right, or we couldn't have seen him at
- 25:59Speaker 1: the movie theater at some point, she's there. She's at
- 26:03Speaker 1: the Christmas tree lighting. They you know he's there for
- 26:08Speaker 1: those scenes because those were filmed at the same time.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I just needed a little peek. Oh okay, okay, you
- 26:17Speaker 1: mentioned this earlier, but I thought Meg and Joe were
- 26:20Speaker 1: kind of a mismatch, like they had like no chemistry.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Like to me as a viewer, I thought they made
- 26:27Speaker 1: like great working partners. Yeah, because they were so like opposite,
- 26:32Speaker 1: But in terms of like romantic partners, I was like,
- 26:36Speaker 1: I don't really see it. I didn't feel it either
- 26:40Speaker 1: until until they kissed, and I was like, oh, that's
- 26:42Speaker 1: pretty cute. But well, it was so funny because he
- 26:45Speaker 1: goes into the photo booth like alone with a Christmas
- 26:48Speaker 1: hat and a point seta. I was like, what's I doing.
- 26:53Speaker 1: He's taking solo pictures that they're on a point setup plant. Okay,
- 26:58Speaker 1: all right, dude, that's funny. Okay, here's the last thing
- 27:02Speaker 1: I wished for. Uh huh. I needed less of that
- 27:05Speaker 1: childhood choreographed dance between Meg and jin for like they
- 27:10Speaker 1: did it in the movie theater and then they did
- 27:12Speaker 1: it on the dance floor at this party. You know,
- 27:16Speaker 1: they showed it one too many times in the movie theater.
- 27:20Speaker 1: One of my digit see that, And this is from
- 27:22Speaker 1: the first movie too, and I don't know why I
- 27:25Speaker 1: didn't mention it. Then, is does an entire town of
- 27:28Speaker 1: people want to come and watch this family's old home movies?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Because no, I can see it being a thirty second
- 27:34Speaker 1: tribute at the beginning of whatever they're gonna show, because
- 27:37Speaker 1: obviously this was a family owned movie theater and they
- 27:39Speaker 1: really loved their uncle. But I don't need I'm not
- 27:44Speaker 1: coming to an event to watch someone else's home movies.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I do not care how close this town is. Yeah,
- 27:50Speaker 1: I agree, So, yes, I think there was one too
- 27:53Speaker 1: many cutesy throwback. Those girls were cute, but I think
- 27:57Speaker 1: they they overdid it. Yeah, I agree. All right, do
- 28:02Speaker 1: you have any of it? Did you see that? Because
- 28:04Speaker 1: I have a cube? Okay, I'm so excited you are. Yes?
- 28:12Speaker 1: Oh oh, Tyler Hines, No, I'm just kidding, he was.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, did I miss a big one? No? No,
- 28:18Speaker 1: nothing like that. No, mine are all very small. But
- 28:22Speaker 1: first of all, in the scene where the sisters are
- 28:25Speaker 1: sitting in Jen's house and they're wrapping gifts. Ashley Williams
- 28:28Speaker 1: is definitely wrapping an empty tube of paper. She's wrapping
- 28:32Speaker 1: a tube of paper like she's rolled up wrapping paper.
- 28:36Speaker 1: She's like taken wrapping paper and kind of rolled it
- 28:38Speaker 1: into a tube and then she's like folding it over.
- 28:40Speaker 1: There's nothing inside there. It's weird a roll of paper
- 28:43Speaker 1: that she's like just rolled up and she's folding it
- 28:47Speaker 1: over itself. There's nothing at least Jen's character is wrapping
- 28:52Speaker 1: a box, like give this woman a box to wrap
- 28:54Speaker 1: just but no, it's there's nothing in there. No, I
- 28:57Speaker 1: totally did not even notice that. No. When Alex takes
- 29:02Speaker 1: Meg to the like pop up topis cart oh yeah,
- 29:08Speaker 1: they're talking about She's like, what are tapists or I
- 29:10Speaker 1: don't know whatever, and they show a sandwich board of
- 29:14Speaker 1: the options and one of them is potato, like rosemary
- 29:19Speaker 1: and potatoes and potatoes is spelled p t A ts oh. No.
- 29:27Speaker 1: So the woman who runs the food bank, Ashley Ashley Meg,
- 29:33Speaker 1: she's like, just send over your donor list. Hey, you
- 29:36Speaker 1: cannot just take someone's email list and randomly email them.
- 29:39Speaker 1: That is an a that's not how digital privacy works
- 29:42Speaker 1: and also your donors are going to be pissed, Like,
- 29:45Speaker 1: could you the Food Bank send them an email saying, hey,
- 29:48Speaker 1: this business is having fundraiser that has the potential to
- 29:53Speaker 1: support us. Yes, you can do that. Can you just
- 29:56Speaker 1: give your email list the way? No, you cannot. Oh
- 30:00Speaker 1: you're really in those details. Huh why I used to
- 30:03Speaker 1: be a nonprofit fundraising Okay? Mary Anne, the woman who
- 30:06Speaker 1: works at the food Bank. Every scene she's in she's
- 30:09Speaker 1: wearing a horrible Christmas sweater. One is at like Miawi
- 30:14Speaker 1: Christmas with a cat on it, every single one. And
- 30:18Speaker 1: I was like a bravo to wardrobe who like nailed
- 30:23Speaker 1: it when they thought what is a community service leader?
- 30:25Speaker 1: Where who you know wants to be festive all the
- 30:28Speaker 1: time for the people who are coming into her you
- 30:31Speaker 1: know her spot, Like totally. It was so every single
- 30:35Speaker 1: scene it was so funny. So at one point there
- 30:41Speaker 1: r SVP list overwhelmed the capacity of the restaurant and
- 30:45Speaker 1: they're like, where could we host it? Why would you
- 30:48Speaker 1: host a restaurant event anywhere other than yours? And why
- 30:52Speaker 1: does your RSVP system not have a max where you're like, sorry,
- 30:55Speaker 1: we can only sell fifty tickets to this event. Yeah,
- 30:58Speaker 1: that was dumb. Also, that straight up looks like evite,
- 31:01Speaker 1: Like when they pull it up on their phone, you
- 31:04Speaker 1: got your ebite response, because like you wouldn't if you're
- 31:09Speaker 1: cooking food in your own restaurant, you're not gonna like
- 31:13Speaker 1: then bring that. It makes it a logistical nightmare, which
- 31:18Speaker 1: leads to my this is my new question and answer
- 31:21Speaker 1: section under did you see that? Is why would the
- 31:24Speaker 1: restaurant take all the food to the food bank for
- 31:27Speaker 1: the party that was then canceled and then they move
- 31:31Speaker 1: all that stuff to another location for like a free
- 31:34Speaker 1: for all party, and that food's cold and disgusting. Why
- 31:37Speaker 1: wouldn't they keep it at the food bank for the
- 31:39Speaker 1: people who need it? When they'd be like, okay, parties off,
- 31:43Speaker 1: but we have all this food here. Let's open our
- 31:45Speaker 1: doors to the community and be like, come on in, come,
- 31:48Speaker 1: come get something. So why didn't they call all of
- 31:50Speaker 1: the other restaurants and say, hey, come over, bring your food,
- 31:54Speaker 1: we'll serve it to the community. Yeah, that's a great question.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Now we're all these community members invited to come, like
- 32:01Speaker 1: all the people that would attend the food bank. I
- 32:03Speaker 1: don't know, I know they wanted this big moment with
- 32:05Speaker 1: that big elaborate point set a display. But I don't
- 32:11Speaker 1: know the entry of that hotel. I don't know where
- 32:14Speaker 1: they are, whatever that space is, but the entry is
- 32:19Speaker 1: so lackluster. When they walk in, it's like a plane
- 32:23Speaker 1: staircase with a single strand of lights around it. There's
- 32:26Speaker 1: nothing there until you turn around and you see the display,
- 32:30Speaker 1: Like it seems like they could have dressed that up
- 32:32Speaker 1: a little bit, especially because they walk through that space
- 32:36Speaker 1: more than once. It's all that for that red display
- 32:39Speaker 1: on the other side of the room. Yeah, it was weird.
- 32:43Speaker 1: It was weird. And then here's another question. So the
- 32:47Speaker 1: weather's bad, right, and that's why the party was canceled.
- 32:51Speaker 1: M But who moved the photo booth and the cookie
- 32:55Speaker 1: decorating station and all that stuff to the new location
- 32:59Speaker 1: in the bad weather? Like it didn't It didn't make
- 33:02Speaker 1: any sense. No, No, though I did enjoy when like
- 33:06Speaker 1: her family shows up and he's like, we're mountain people.
- 33:08Speaker 1: We know how to put chains on our tires. And
- 33:10Speaker 1: I was like, all right, okay, okay, okay, I mean
- 33:13Speaker 1: it snows a lot. It's a ski resort, so it's
- 33:16Speaker 1: not like these people are not used to snow. Lots
- 33:21Speaker 1: of digital snow in this movie. Too much, too much,
- 33:25Speaker 1: too much, too much. She doesn't constantly need to be
- 33:28Speaker 1: snowing on you. One of the scenes from the seth
- 33:32Speaker 1: Meyers interview, they show that they because it was hot,
- 33:36Speaker 1: they had made a snowman and they're like, yeah, we
- 33:37Speaker 1: were getting like snow like ice from the fish marketers
- 33:40Speaker 1: something and they had to put an umbrella over their
- 33:43Speaker 1: snowman to keep him from melting. Oh really, that's really funny.
- 33:49Speaker 1: That's all I got me too. Who what did you
- 33:52Speaker 1: rate this movie? Okay, I want to just first preface
- 33:56Speaker 1: this with saying that I gave the first movie three
- 33:58Speaker 1: and a half stars. I gave this three stars. I
- 34:03Speaker 1: liked the story better in the first one, and I
- 34:05Speaker 1: liked the romantic story better between Mark Declan and Kimberly
- 34:10Speaker 1: Williams Paisley. I think this is a three star movie
- 34:13Speaker 1: for me as well, which is a very high rating.
- 34:15Speaker 1: And it was warm and cozy and maybe three point
- 34:19Speaker 1: twenty five stars. I really loved the staff at the restaurant. Yeah,
- 34:24Speaker 1: they weren't funny, it was they were like an more
- 34:28Speaker 1: than background, you know, they were like a family. Like
- 34:30Speaker 1: when they all go volunteer together, and that part when
- 34:34Speaker 1: she's like when the chef turns it down, the job down,
- 34:38Speaker 1: and yeah, she's like, why wouldn't he want to be
- 34:41Speaker 1: with these people? Oh there's another digit see that in
- 34:44Speaker 1: the first movie. We see in both of these movies
- 34:47Speaker 1: where they go to they go to Martin's food stand
- 34:55Speaker 1: with both Jen and Meg to ask him to be
- 34:57Speaker 1: the chef. Prior to going there. In this Christmas in
- 35:02Speaker 1: the City movie, we hear Meg on the phone with
- 35:07Speaker 1: somebody I don't know who's saying I need a copy
- 35:10Speaker 1: of last year's Great Salt article that my sister wrote.
- 35:13Speaker 1: And then we hear Martin. Are you Jen, I don't
- 35:17Speaker 1: remember her last name. Yeah, I wrote that article about
- 35:20Speaker 1: community and food service. I'm blowing it. And I was like,
- 35:24Speaker 1: wait a minute, that was a total plan, Like I
- 35:27Speaker 1: kind of I think it's obviously supposed to be funny
- 35:31Speaker 1: that he knew exactly what to say to her, yeah,
- 35:34Speaker 1: and that we get that information in this movie. But
- 35:36Speaker 1: also I was like, wait, but the whole point is
- 35:38Speaker 1: you are supposed to believe Yeah. Yeah, thanks for listening
- 35:43Speaker 1: to this bonus episode. Goodbye Bye,
