- 1:09Speaker 2: Let's go this gost go.
- 1:12Speaker 1: It's the story you need to hear to believe, then
- 1:15Speaker 1: grab your popcorn, because there is more now. I could
- 1:19Speaker 1: if you wanted to, we could just stick with nothing
- 1:24Speaker 1: but the old internet songs back in the day, because unloaded,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I am loaded for bear on the old h on
- 1:38Speaker 1: the old songs. But I should, I guess, share with
- 1:43Speaker 1: you some things that you're gonna need to pay attention to.
- 1:50Speaker 2: There is certainly.
- 1:53Speaker 1: You've got Secretary Levitt discussing the possibility of another government shutdown.
- 1:58Speaker 2: It's something I want everybody to keep an eye on.
- 2:01Speaker 1: But producer Carl I had shared some of this yesterday
- 2:05Speaker 1: on the midday show This Meghan Rapino. I believe everybody's
- 2:09Speaker 1: handling these Sophie Cunningham comments about boys and girl sports wrong.
- 2:14Speaker 1: What she said is not to raise her on a
- 2:16Speaker 1: pedestal and turn her to some kind of folk hero. No,
- 2:20Speaker 1: it's she made a statement that is standard and normal.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Boys shouldn't be in girl sports. We should be like, yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 1: of course it's right, smart.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Why would anybody think otherwise? That's so weird. We should
- 2:31Speaker 2: be talking about those people.
- 2:33Speaker 1: But I don't need Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever
- 2:37Speaker 1: to now be some kind of cause celeb for the
- 2:39Speaker 1: political right and now the victim of attacks by the
- 2:42Speaker 1: political left because she said something normal. I don't want
- 2:46Speaker 1: that for her. She said, Look, people are taking my
- 2:52Speaker 1: comments like I hate this group or that group. It's
- 2:55Speaker 1: this isn't hate. I'm saying these girls in sports shouldn't
- 2:57Speaker 1: have to play boys. That's that, that's and and that's
- 3:01Speaker 1: where we should leave it.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But Meghan Rapino, she's on the view.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Which is I guess where you go when you want
- 3:12Speaker 1: to engage in some nonsense commentary. And she's making I
- 3:16Speaker 1: think a radical statement. Now this is worth discussing.
- 3:20Speaker 2: It matters. Tell us what you mean by that. Yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 2: thank you, I appreciate that.
- 3:25Speaker 3: I think what I mean by that is, let's just
- 3:28Speaker 3: like pull back a little. At first, it was like, well,
- 3:29Speaker 3: nobody likes women's sports and nobody wants to watch it,
- 3:32Speaker 3: or there was you know, abuse happening and nobody seemed
- 3:35Speaker 3: to care. Now all of a sudden, we're going to
- 3:37Speaker 3: use a vulnerable group of people in the trans community
- 3:40Speaker 3: to be like, oh, well, we're just protecting women's sports
- 3:43Speaker 3: and we care so much about it.
- 3:44Speaker 2: When the Heritage Foundation is.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Now going to go after Title nine, So is it
- 3:48Speaker 3: about reproductive rights or is it about just women's rights
- 3:51Speaker 3: in general. We're seeing the rollback of Rowie Wade. Marriage equality,
- 3:55Speaker 3: I feel like is getting put back on the table
- 3:57Speaker 3: that was settled law, and so all of these things, like, yes,
- 4:00Speaker 3: they're going after trans people in sports, and they're using
- 4:03Speaker 3: this as a wedge issue because we love sports, and
- 4:06Speaker 3: you know, we don't want our little girls to be
- 4:08Speaker 3: unsafe in sports. And it's like, 'unsafe from who?
- 4:10Speaker 2: But okay, that's really hateful.
- 4:15Speaker 1: And if you want to talk about Title nine, Title
- 4:17Speaker 1: nine was about ensuring women can have sports and it
- 4:20Speaker 1: is the women of the Supreme Court on the left
- 4:23Speaker 1: that wanted to undo that. And same with you. You're
- 4:27Speaker 1: not making an argument that is in any way rational.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Now that's something that we should discuss. And also we
- 4:34Speaker 1: never minded watching women's sports. Your issue is why aren't
- 4:38Speaker 1: you paid like the men? And the men make more
- 4:39Speaker 1: money because they bring in more advertising revenue. But when
- 4:44Speaker 1: Caitlin Clark came to town and people are like, I
- 4:46Speaker 1: will absolutely watch this and I will pay to have
- 4:49Speaker 1: other people see my ad connected to it, the WNBA
- 4:52Speaker 1: responded by hating her. You should be upset with the WNBA,
- 4:58Speaker 1: but you sent me, Carl is this the girl's question
- 5:02Speaker 1: to Megan Rapino?
- 5:03Speaker 2: You want to share it? Yeah, it's it's like a commercial.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Okay, Oh this is from xxxys from Jennifer say, she's excellent.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It's a clothing company, an athletic company, and so you
- 5:18Speaker 1: thought that this was worthwhile.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So let me. I haven't had a purely the girl
- 5:22Speaker 2: at the very end. She's like an eight or nine
- 5:24Speaker 2: year old girl. Okay, so this is a commercial.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I'll play it's fifty seconds, I'll play it in in full.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Would that assist against Brazil have happened? Or that impossible
- 5:38Speaker 4: corner in London?
- 5:39Speaker 1: Oh, they're talking about her career as a player for
- 5:42Speaker 1: the US women's soccer team.
- 5:43Speaker 4: You have gotten the gold, Yeah, the glory of two
- 5:47Speaker 4: World Cups, Widret Toyle, dedication and sacrifice have paid off.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Would the fame and adoration have been yours? Would you
- 6:00Speaker 4: have become one of the most iconic female players of
- 6:03Speaker 4: all time if you had to quick against nails? So
- 6:11Speaker 4: why are you asking me to?
- 6:15Speaker 2: That's really good?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Would Megan Repino be Megan Repino if she had to
- 6:22Speaker 1: play against men?
- 6:23Speaker 2: So why are you asking me to?
- 6:25Speaker 1: That's a solid ad Jennifer. Get Jennifer on the show
- 6:29Speaker 1: morning or midday, Make that Happen. Producer Carl See, these
- 6:33Speaker 1: are things we need to be addressing. Why is it
- 6:37Speaker 1: what was fine for you but you hate these other girls?
- 6:40Speaker 1: Good question for Megan Rapino,
