- 0:00Speaker 1: Ten the Clouds Building right now the Mark Simone Show
- 0:03Speaker 1: on seven ten. Woor filling in for Mark, here's Ken
- 0:08Speaker 1: Rosatto and a very good Happy Independence Day to you today.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Of course it's being observed nationally as we just heard
- 0:15Speaker 1: Daria talking about, and we're you know, celebrate the whole
- 0:18Speaker 1: it's two hundred and fifty, celebrate the whole weekend the
- 0:21Speaker 1: whole week This is America. I don't care where you
- 0:24Speaker 1: stand politically, you should not hate the country. We are
- 0:29Speaker 1: all part of America, right, so for all part of America.
- 0:33Speaker 1: That means that you should If you hate America, you
- 0:35Speaker 1: hate yourself. You should love whatever it is about America
- 0:39Speaker 1: that you love and acknowledge that there are warts and
- 0:41Speaker 1: there are problems. Everyone and everything has warts and problems,
- 0:45Speaker 1: but look at the positives and celebrate that. You don't
- 0:48Speaker 1: have to accept everything that the other guy accepts about
- 0:51Speaker 1: America and is celebrating. Celebrate the things that you like
- 0:54Speaker 1: and you enjoy and you're proud of in America. And everybody,
- 0:58Speaker 1: if they have any kind of logical brain cell, can
- 1:01Speaker 1: find something about this country. And there's a lot about
- 1:04Speaker 1: this country to be proud of and happy of. So
- 1:06Speaker 1: celebrate on this Independence Day, A very good Friday to you.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'm Ken Rozato, former New York City TV news anchor.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I was on Channel seven for twenty years. I was
- 1:14Speaker 1: on Channel five on Good Day New York before that,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and it's just so good to be with you here. Now.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I do a morning show over on on New Jersey,
- 1:23Speaker 1: which is a New Jersey TV channel o NNJ dot com.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You could stream it anywhere in America, and when I'm
- 1:29Speaker 1: not here, I do that. That's what I do to
- 1:32Speaker 1: buy my coffee and donuts on New JERSEYNNJ dot com.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Stream it sometime, especially if you're a New Jersey person,
- 1:39Speaker 1: check it out when I'm over there. We'd love for
- 1:42Speaker 1: you to do that. But otherwise, I listen to WOOR
- 1:46Speaker 1: and have been a huge fan of Woires. Anyone here
- 1:49Speaker 1: will tell you I geek out when I see Curtis
- 1:52Speaker 1: and when I see Lowry, and even when I see
- 1:55Speaker 1: my good friends Crash and Izzy and Chris, and when
- 1:58Speaker 1: I walk in the hallways here, get all excited because
- 2:00Speaker 1: I hear all these names on the air all the time,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and finally I get to see them in person. And
- 2:04Speaker 1: I love coming in and doing that and what a
- 2:06Speaker 1: perfect day to commute into Manhattan from my lovely garden
- 2:10Speaker 1: state of New Jersey. It was like, is he how
- 2:12Speaker 1: long did it take you to get in today? Is
- 2:14Speaker 1: he comes in from New Jersey too? He's telling me
- 2:17Speaker 1: forty five? All right, it took me thirty nine. I
- 2:19Speaker 1: couldn't believe it. Normally takes me an hour and five hour.
- 2:22Speaker 1: In ten it took me thirty nine minutes. Because nobody's
- 2:25Speaker 1: in today. And for those who don't realize, the meter
- 2:29Speaker 1: rules are not in effect today. The meters are free,
- 2:32Speaker 1: so you could park wherever there's a parking meter. So
- 2:34Speaker 1: I don't think a lot of people know that. I
- 2:35Speaker 1: literally pulled up in front of the iHeart Tower, pulled
- 2:38Speaker 1: right up, perfect space right there in front, got in.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I felt like a VIP, very important person today. So anyway,
- 2:46Speaker 1: it's good to be with you, Mark, enjoying the weekend.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I hear rumors that Mark is hanging out with Taylor
- 2:51Speaker 1: Swift right now, helping her get her dress ready and everything.
- 2:55Speaker 1: That's you know, Mark Simon, and he hangs out with
- 2:57Speaker 1: the important people. Me I just come and I feel
- 3:00Speaker 1: when he's not here. But Mark hangs that with the
- 3:01Speaker 1: important people. It would not surprise me if we saw
- 3:05Speaker 1: some some pictures posted of Mark at Taylor Swift's weating.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I'm just saying, I don't know that. That's not a confirmation.
- 3:14Speaker 1: It's just my gut telling me that that would be
- 3:16Speaker 1: the case. I could hear him right now saying, hey, Risotto,
- 3:18Speaker 1: stop it all righte Wor the Voice of New York.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Our phone lines are open. We want you to call
- 3:25Speaker 1: and take part in the conversation today numbers eight hundred
- 3:28Speaker 1: three two one zero seven ten. Others may be closed
- 3:32Speaker 1: for business. We are live in person and open for
- 3:35Speaker 1: business eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Well,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you heard very stagic talking about it. You heard Curtis
- 3:42Speaker 1: talking about it. Larry's on VAK today. Good for him.
- 3:46Speaker 1: The heat, of course, we're in the middle of a
- 3:48Speaker 1: heat wave. Could hit one oh two in New York today.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Crazy heat. It's so oppressive. When you get a bead
- 3:55Speaker 1: like ninety two ninety three, you can't even tell the difference.
- 3:57Speaker 1: At that point, your body just says, ough toomuch, too
- 4:00Speaker 1: much heat. I love the heat. I'll take warmth over
- 4:04Speaker 1: cold at anytime, but even I don't like it when
- 4:07Speaker 1: it's this way. Stagnant, hot humid. It's just nasty. And
- 4:12Speaker 1: I know a lot of people were getting on Mayor
- 4:14Speaker 1: Mom Donnie for saying keep your thermostats at seventy eight.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But you know, I think the Republicans who were bashing
- 4:21Speaker 1: Mom Donnie about that should actually rewind the tape. And look,
- 4:24Speaker 1: did you know that President Trump in twenty fifteen, during
- 4:27Speaker 1: a heat wave said keep your thermostats at seventy eight. Yeah?
- 4:30Speaker 1: Also President Bush said keep your thermostats at seventy eight.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So and I believe Mayor Mayor Giuliani said keep your
- 4:36Speaker 1: thermostats at seventy eight during a heat wave back then too.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It's actually standard to say that. And I'll tell you why.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Can you figure out? Why is he? Do you know
- 4:45Speaker 1: why they say seventy eight? He's nodding, but he's not
- 4:48Speaker 1: telling me. Yes, is he nailed it? You nailed it, man.
- 4:56Speaker 1: It's because it's twenty degrees cooler. But why is that significant?
- 5:00Speaker 1: It's significant because even if you set your thermostat to sixty,
- 5:05Speaker 1: your AC unit really can only get you between fifteen
- 5:09Speaker 1: and at most thirty degrees. Most of them are ten
- 5:11Speaker 1: to twenty degrees. That's the best your air conditioning unit
- 5:14Speaker 1: will get you. So if it's one hundred degrees out,
- 5:17Speaker 1: you're probably not going to get Even if you put
- 5:20Speaker 1: your thermostat down to sixty, you're not going to get
- 5:22Speaker 1: below seventy five. So set your thermostat at seventy five
- 5:26Speaker 1: or seventy six because it's not going to make a difference. Actually,
- 5:29Speaker 1: you could burn out the motor if it just keeps
- 5:30Speaker 1: going and going and going trying to get down to sixty.
- 5:32Speaker 1: You'll freeze the coils, et cetera. You're better off just
- 5:36Speaker 1: setting it at seventy six or seventy eight. So they're
- 5:38Speaker 1: not entirely wrong. You ask any HVAC person, they will
- 5:42Speaker 1: tell you that you're the best. Air conditioning units, with
- 5:45Speaker 1: the exception of major big industrial office buildings, will only
- 5:49Speaker 1: get you about fifteen at most thirty degrees fifteen to
- 5:54Speaker 1: twenty typical, So if it's one hundred one hundred and
- 5:56Speaker 1: two out, you're not going to get below like upper seventies,
- 6:00Speaker 1: even if you got the best big ole Oh we
- 6:02Speaker 1: got two zone air conditioning ken, Yeah, that's all you're
- 6:05Speaker 1: going to get, especially your upper units. If you have
- 6:07Speaker 1: like a two or three story house, the upstairs is
- 6:10Speaker 1: going to be about ten to fifteen degrees hotter than
- 6:12Speaker 1: downstairs because the heat is going to be baking your roof.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Anyone will tell you that. So that's why, as much
- 6:18Speaker 1: as there are a thousand things to get them, Mayor
- 6:20Speaker 1: Mamdani for that isn't one of them. But here's where
- 6:23Speaker 1: I will. You knew it wasn't going to be all
- 6:26Speaker 1: good about the kami, right, So Mayor mom, donnie what
- 6:31Speaker 1: he fails to mention because he's talking about the power
- 6:34Speaker 1: grid and the strain on the power grid, but he
- 6:36Speaker 1: fails to mention why the power grid is so strained. Yeah,
- 6:39Speaker 1: you could say it's everybody using the air conditioning ken. Yeah,
- 6:42Speaker 1: but you know what, in the last twenty years, we've
- 6:44Speaker 1: switched to air conditioning units that are way more energy efficient.
- 6:48Speaker 1: We've switched to light bulbs that only use ten watts
- 6:52Speaker 1: or five watts instead of one hundred watts to give
- 6:54Speaker 1: us the same power. Right, We've switched to refrigeration units
- 6:58Speaker 1: that use half the power that the old ones used
- 7:01Speaker 1: to use. On and on and on it goes. So
- 7:03Speaker 1: when you consider all that, we should have tons of
- 7:06Speaker 1: leftover energy, but we don't. Why there are a couple
- 7:10Speaker 1: of reasons. Number one, the good Democrats, with their intention
- 7:15Speaker 1: of saving energy and helping save Mother Earth with the environment,
- 7:20Speaker 1: they have shut down fossil fuel generating plants, which are
- 7:23Speaker 1: the most efficient and reliable energy generators we've ever had.
- 7:27Speaker 1: They have fought to shut down fossil fuel plants and
- 7:30Speaker 1: New Jersey, New York, Connecticut every opportunity they could. And
- 7:35Speaker 1: then the most efficient and renewable resource we've ever created
- 7:39Speaker 1: for making electricity, nuclear power plants, any nuclear plant they could.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Southern New Jersey got shut down about seven years ago.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Indian Point under Andrew Cuomo couldn't wait to shut that
- 7:51Speaker 1: thing down, even though it was perfectly fine, it was
- 7:55Speaker 1: working great. Shut that thing down. That was like twenty
- 7:58Speaker 1: to twenty five percent of the power for to try state,
- 8:00Speaker 1: for gosh sake, came out of Indian Point shut it down.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And what does that do? That just put more of
- 8:06Speaker 1: a strain on the existing energy plants. So now every
- 8:10Speaker 1: time we have a heat situation like this, they tell
- 8:13Speaker 1: us to use less air conditioning. No, how about we
- 8:16Speaker 1: authorize more power plants. How about we build another smaller efficient,
- 8:21Speaker 1: AI run nuclear power plant. You know, can't you can't
- 8:25Speaker 1: wind mill and solar panel yourself out of an energy crisis.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Florida tried. Florida's the sunshine state. They got more sun
- 8:32Speaker 1: down there than just about any other state in the
- 8:34Speaker 1: whole Union except maybe California, New Mexico, and Florida realized
- 8:38Speaker 1: they had to have a combination of power generating plants.
- 8:41Speaker 1: They do have solar plants, lots of them. But one
- 8:45Speaker 1: solar plant takes a footprint that is ten times the
- 8:48Speaker 1: size of the equivalent fossil fuel plant to generate the
- 8:52Speaker 1: same electricity ten times the size, and that is relying
- 8:55Speaker 1: upon a full day of sun. If you don't have
- 8:59Speaker 1: a full day of sun, for get it. And at
- 9:00Speaker 1: night it doesn't generate anything. You have to store in
- 9:03Speaker 1: batteries that after a certain number of years have to
- 9:06Speaker 1: be stored in a landfill because they're no longer rechargeable.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So this becomes an issue. That's why solar is not
- 9:12Speaker 1: the end all be all, and windmills are not the
- 9:15Speaker 1: end all be all. The Republicanism is saying we'll do
- 9:17Speaker 1: an above you know, select all way of looking at power.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Democrats don't want to hear it. They would rather shut
- 9:24Speaker 1: down the fossil fuel and the nuclear plants and just
- 9:27Speaker 1: live in a cave. Just live in a cave, rock
- 9:30Speaker 1: back and forth, eating bugs until we die, as opposed
- 9:34Speaker 1: to doing something practical. In New Jersey, Governor Murphy, I
- 9:38Speaker 1: used to love to call him, Governor Murphy, the man
- 9:41Speaker 1: worth seven billion dollars who needs a dentist to fix
- 9:44Speaker 1: those god awful teeth. Governor Murphy, you're right is he's
- 9:48Speaker 1: looking at me and laughing. Have you ever se go
- 9:50Speaker 1: online here? I defy you. Google Governor Murphy's teeth. Just
- 9:56Speaker 1: google that. They will pop there a thousand memes. It's
- 10:01Speaker 1: I'll stop. It's not just crooked, it's like, eh, like
- 10:03Speaker 1: you never mind having met them at very nice man,
- 10:06Speaker 1: he's actually extremely nice. I'm sorry to be so mean,
- 10:09Speaker 1: Sorry to be so mean. Forgive me, forgive me, forgive me,
- 10:11Speaker 1: Father Forry of sind. I just made fun of Governor
- 10:14Speaker 1: Murphy's teeth. Okay, I just had my confession. But Governor
- 10:19Speaker 1: Murphy made sure. He and his Democrats, who control all
- 10:22Speaker 1: of the state of New Jersey, they shut down six
- 10:25Speaker 1: power plants. Okay, six power plants without us without a replacement.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Five were were a fossil fuel plants, and one was
- 10:34Speaker 1: a nuclear plant. Now, in the case of two of
- 10:37Speaker 1: the fossil plants, they needed some good rehab. And the
- 10:40Speaker 1: question is do you spend money fixing them up and
- 10:42Speaker 1: making them more efficient or just shut them down. Okay,
- 10:45Speaker 1: I give them that, that's fifty to fifty, but before
- 10:48Speaker 1: you shut them down, you needed to see that there
- 10:50Speaker 1: was a replacement. No, instead shut them all down, because
- 10:54Speaker 1: that's the Democrat solution. If it's fossil fuel, if it's nuclear,
- 10:58Speaker 1: shut it down and we'll deal with it later. So
- 11:01Speaker 1: what did they do to deal with it? They ended
- 11:03Speaker 1: up buying power from other states, which is why New
- 11:06Speaker 1: Jersey's energy rate per kilowatt hour is one of the
- 11:10Speaker 1: most expensive in the entire country. So what was the
- 11:14Speaker 1: solution from all the semi braindead Democrat voters in New Jersey.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Let's vote in another Democrat, this time more liberal in
- 11:21Speaker 1: Mikey Cheryl who I get a kick out of the
- 11:23Speaker 1: fact that there isn't a consultant on any of the
- 11:26Speaker 1: big networks Fox, MS, now, CNN. There isn't a consultant
- 11:30Speaker 1: who knows what her name is pronounced, as they call
- 11:32Speaker 1: her Mickey Scherill. I've heard every name in the world,
- 11:36Speaker 1: including by her own Democrats. They don't know. The woman's
- 11:38Speaker 1: name is Mikey Cheryl. Mikey Cheryl, who is terrified to
- 11:41Speaker 1: come on the air with me no matter where I go, terrified,
- 11:44Speaker 1: and her pr person or press person loves he has
- 11:48Speaker 1: some clip of me, either here or on New Jersey
- 11:52Speaker 1: making fun of her. Well, tough luck. Put on your
- 11:54Speaker 1: big girl pants. Mikey, you're now the governor, you were
- 11:56Speaker 1: a congresswoman. Put on your big girl pants. Talk show
- 12:00Speaker 1: host will make fun of you like I made fun
- 12:02Speaker 1: of Governor Murphy. I make fun of Republicans too. Plenty
- 12:06Speaker 1: of things to make fun of with Republicans. Dot stop
- 12:09Speaker 1: being so sensitive. Put on your big girl pants and
- 12:11Speaker 1: come on and take some questions. I'm not going to
- 12:13Speaker 1: rip you apart. I'm not gonna yell at you. I
- 12:15Speaker 1: will be very respectful to you, Governor, but Governor Cheryl,
- 12:20Speaker 1: who doesn't speak like that. Governor Cheryl, you know the
- 12:24Speaker 1: idea that she would sit here and say, we will
- 12:26Speaker 1: have a solution on day one for the energy crisis.
- 12:29Speaker 1: What was the solution? Typical Democrat solution. Let's empower a panel,
- 12:34Speaker 1: so this way she could say she's doing something and
- 12:37Speaker 1: all it is is to do nothing. Speak group who
- 12:39Speaker 1: gets together, it will take them two years to come
- 12:41Speaker 1: up with a report that's going to cost US thirty
- 12:43Speaker 1: million dollars and it's not going to do a damn thing.
- 12:45Speaker 1: The only thing she did allow was to research, research
- 12:50Speaker 1: what it would be to open a small, efficient nuclear
- 12:54Speaker 1: power plant. Didn't mean we're going to do it. It's
- 12:56Speaker 1: so that she could shut her opponents up and say, look,
- 12:59Speaker 1: we're searching it right now. Yeah, okay, so by the
- 13:03Speaker 1: time you and I are both dead, we'll get a
- 13:06Speaker 1: report from Governor Cheryl telling us what the research showed
- 13:10Speaker 1: about having a small nuclear power plant in New Jersey.
- 13:12Speaker 1: We had a big one. We know what the research
- 13:14Speaker 1: tells us the idea. Now we have companies telling us
- 13:17Speaker 1: that using AI, you can have much smaller, much more efficient,
- 13:20Speaker 1: much better built and run nuclear power facilities that you
- 13:24Speaker 1: don't have to worry about. You know the reason why
- 13:26Speaker 1: we had the problem with Three Mile Island. Literally the
- 13:29Speaker 1: guys at the switch at two o'clock in the morning
- 13:31Speaker 1: fell asleep. That's why look it up. Go online, go
- 13:35Speaker 1: take a look at their videos. You could see on
- 13:37Speaker 1: YouTube about what happened at three Mile Island. They fell
- 13:39Speaker 1: asleep and they didn't notice the big dials behind them going.
- 13:45Speaker 1: The temperature of the core was rising. These guys were
- 13:47Speaker 1: sound asleep. That's what happened. If you have AI monitoring
- 13:51Speaker 1: those things twenty four to seven, that thing goes up
- 13:54Speaker 1: a tenth of a degree, you'll know about it. Everybody'll
- 13:57Speaker 1: know about it. That's the difference. A nuclear power facility
- 14:00Speaker 1: today would not be run like it was fifty years ago.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And that's what Three Mile Islands technology was fifty years ago.
- 14:07Speaker 1: That's why running up. Instead of having one giant nuclear facility,
- 14:11Speaker 1: we're talking about proposing a number of smaller facilities that
- 14:15Speaker 1: are much easier to maintain, much easier to build. Instead
- 14:18Speaker 1: of taking ten years to build and ten years to
- 14:20Speaker 1: get online, these things could be built in a year
- 14:22Speaker 1: or two and would be online a year or two
- 14:24Speaker 1: after that. But you have to have the forethought, You
- 14:27Speaker 1: have to have the open mindedness that a Republican administration
- 14:31Speaker 1: has when it comes to energy, as opposed to Democrats
- 14:33Speaker 1: who literally just want us to go back to the
- 14:35Speaker 1: Stone Age or crawl in a cave and die, because
- 14:37Speaker 1: in their view, every life form on the planet deserves
- 14:41Speaker 1: the rule of survival of the fittest, except for humans.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Humans we're not entitled to that. We don't deserve to
- 14:46Speaker 1: be here. It's all about guilt and self flagellation. With Democrats,
- 14:50Speaker 1: we're the evil, bad people, especially white males. Among all
- 14:53Speaker 1: of the group, white males the worst, and everybody else
- 14:56Speaker 1: kind of falls in line after that. That's the way
- 14:58Speaker 1: the modern Democrat Party looks things. Seven ten wore the
- 15:02Speaker 1: Voice of New York. We are wide open to take
- 15:04Speaker 1: your calls eight hundred three to two one zero seven
- 15:07Speaker 1: ten eight hundred three two one zero seven ten case
- 15:11Speaker 1: you didn't hear Ray Stagic earlier, sunny, hot, humid. Today,
- 15:15Speaker 1: the heat wave continues. Highs today one hundred to one
- 15:18Speaker 1: hundred and two degrees humidity, making it feel even hotter
- 15:21Speaker 1: than that. Maybe a late day thunderstorm today and tomorrow,
- 15:26Speaker 1: we hope not tomorrow. Tomorrow's the big fireworks show. Remember
- 15:29Speaker 1: the fireworks are going to be both at the East
- 15:31Speaker 1: River and the Hudson River. Did you know that is
- 15:33Speaker 1: he It's gonna be in both. Uh huh. So you know,
- 15:36Speaker 1: some years they pick East River, some years they pick
- 15:37Speaker 1: Hudson River. This is the two fiftieth of America, they said, heck,
- 15:41Speaker 1: Macy's said, let's do both. So they're gonna have the
- 15:43Speaker 1: fireworks going off both the East River and the Hudson
- 15:46Speaker 1: River and off of the Brooklyn Bridge and a laser show.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's gonna be amazing. We just hope the weather cooperates.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Keep your fingers crossed and come out up a little
- 15:56Speaker 1: bit later, we'll speak with the great Roger Friedman from
- 15:58Speaker 1: Showbiz four to one one talk about all the latest
- 16:01Speaker 1: and entertainment news, including the Swift wedding. I bet he
- 16:04Speaker 1: knows everything about it. Your call Zo coming up next,
- 16:07Speaker 1: Just a couple of minutes from now eight hundred three
- 16:08Speaker 1: two one zero seven ten. It's ten twenty one seven
- 16:11Speaker 1: ten wor coming right back
