  Let's get started. Welcome back to the last

  Tabernacle Tidbit, at least for a season.

  And today we're in Second Timothy chapter 4 and verse #22.

  This is the 83rd Tabernacle tidbit and hope that this has
• 0:31
  been an encouragement to you. If you have liked this shorter

  Second Timothy chapter 4 and verse #22 Paul signing off on
• 0:52
  his last letter to his son in the faith.
• 0:54
  Timothy, he says the Lord be with your spirit, grace be with
• 1:00
  you all, the Lord be with your spirit, grace be with you all.

  What a comfort here. The Lord be with your spirit.

  We think of Emmanuel, God with us, that in every moment that
• 1:15
  Timothy was going to have, whether as a pastor, you know,
• 1:18
  preaching the word when it was him looking out for those that
• 1:23
  would be wicked and that would be teaching falsehoods.
• 1:27
  Whether it was him discipling the next generation of believers
• 1:31
  and teachers. Whether it was in traveling to
• 1:35
  Paul and maybe visiting Troas and picking up Paul's cloak.
• 1:41
  Whether it's grabbing the scrolls and parchments that that
• 1:45
  belong to Paul, Whether it was saying hi to friends like Aquila
• 1:48
  and Priscilla. Whatever Timothy was doing, he
• 1:52
  could do knowing that God was with him.
• 1:54
  For you and I today, whatever circumstance that we are in,
• 1:58
  whatever room we walk into, the Lord is with us that His Holy
• 2:03
  Spirit lives inside of us. As Paul would say in Ephesians
• 2:07
  chapter 3, Christ dwells in our hearts.
• 2:11
  He has made His home in the very center of our being.
• 2:16
  And so This is why we would want to run from sin.
• 2:19
  We would not embrace doing and saying and thinking what is
• 2:23
  wrong because we are home to the very presence of God.
• 2:27
  And so we ought to have a heart that says, I want to obey Jesus.
• 2:32
  I want to say the kinds of things that he would say.
• 2:35
  I want to do the kinds of things that He would do because He is
• 2:38
  with me and I don't want to. As we would hear in Ephesians
• 2:44
  chapter 4 and 1st Thessalonians 5, I don't want to grieve the
• 2:48
  Holy Spirit, and I don't want to quench the Holy Spirit.
• 2:51
  Instead, I want to make my life be a home that He is happy to
• 2:58
  live in, that there would be a joy of the Lord that is, He is
• 3:04
  always with me. He's happy to be there because
• 3:07
  I'm listening to Him. How frustrating would it be if
• 3:11
  you were always around? Well, I'll put it this way, how
• 3:14
  frustrating would it be to always be around someone who
• 3:18
  would never listen to you, even when you are right or especially
• 3:23
  when you are right? You know, I've got a couple of
• 3:25
  my toddlers and I'm not perfect. I don't know everything, but I
• 3:31
  do know the right decisions when it comes to my toddlers when
• 3:36
  they're like, Oh no, I don't want to eat dinner.
• 3:38
  I'm like, listen, you're going to be really hungry later
• 3:40
  tonight if you don't eat your food.
• 3:43
  When I'm like, hey, we got to put on clothes because we're,
• 3:46
  you know, going outside, you know, you got to dress
• 3:48
  appropriately. That's if it's not, you know,
• 3:51
  you don't want a long sleeve shirt and sweatpants when it's
• 3:55
  going to be 78 outside. You don't want to wear, you
• 3:59
  know, a tank top and shorts when it's 40° outside.
• 4:04
  You, you want to dress appropriately.
• 4:06
  And so I'm like, Hey, here are the clothes that you need.
• 4:08
  And it's so frustrating with, no, I don't want to do that.
• 4:12
  Like stop, I'm trying to help you.
• 4:14
  I'm not telling you anything that will not benefit your life.
• 4:17
  And I think often we can be that way with the Lord.
• 4:20
  That is, he is with us, that he is constantly telling us here is
• 4:25
  the right way to go. And we're not listening to him.
• 4:27
  We're not obeying. We're just going about our own
• 4:30
  way and our own wisdom. We're not listening to his
• 4:33
  voice. We think that whatever impulse
• 4:36
  we have, like that's what we say the Holy Spirit is, We're like,
• 4:39
  Oh, well, the Spirit, you know, God told me that I that I don't
• 4:44
  need to help out with this when really it was just, oh, I don't
• 4:48
  want to do that. We like whitewash it
• 4:50
  spiritually. Let's not be toddlers when it
• 4:54
  comes to the presence of the Lord.
• 4:56
  Let's be those that we're viewing it as you know, our our
• 4:59
  GPS that if we're going to get to the destination that we want
• 5:03
  to go, which is a life lived in obedience and in relationship
• 5:08
  with God, that we're going to listen to what he says.
• 5:10
  We're going to read his word. We're going to know what the
• 5:12
  voice of the Spirit sounds like because it sounds like what the
• 5:15
  Spirit gave us in the word of God.
• 5:18
  So as all of that's happening, Paul says the Lord be with your
• 5:21
  spirit. What a comfort that he never
• 5:23
  leaves us or abandons us. And then he says, grace, God's
• 5:27
  unmerited favor, be with you all.
• 5:30
  He says, God's going to empower you to do everything that you
• 5:33
  need to do in your life. You never have to wonder, am I
• 5:37
  able today to do what God wants me to?
• 5:40
  God has given you his grace. And so that's how we need to
• 5:44
  respond to say God, I believe you have empowered me for
• 5:47
  everything you have called me to do.
• 5:50
