- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset, coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy. Into the.
- 0:21World. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. We are actually standing out in
- 0:30the field already because I have a problem with thiefs and they
- 0:37are feathered thieves and they are stealing anything they can
- 0:43find off of the fig trees. They are in high fig season, led
- 0:49by Miss Amelia, who can jump up. They've recruited a rooster to
- 0:53help them jump up. One of the Roosters is very
- 0:55agile, the other one is heavy bodied.
- 0:57But the little 1, literal 1, and he can jump up pretty high.
- 1:02And they've recruited him into their thievery and they're going
- 1:07around checking every fig tree. So we've got 123-4567, 8 fig
- 1:14trees, well actually 9, but one doesn't produce because it's
- 1:17planted in the wrong spot and we have to move it.
- 1:20And they did really, really well because of the rain we had.
- 1:26So these beautiful figs are all sitting outside waiting to be
- 1:29picked. And every day I come by and I
- 1:32pick figs. And Amelia, this obviously she
- 1:37knows that the figs are here because she can sense them.
- 1:40She can, you know, she smells them.
- 1:42She's very good at being who she is.
- 1:45As far as stealing things, she always has been.
- 1:48She's very, you know, she's very aware bird.
- 1:51And she'll come out and she'll just be like all over
- 1:54everything. And before you know it, she's
- 1:55taking things. She's, she's just crafty.
- 1:58She waits on the porch when there's BBQ happening.
- 2:00She knows how to beg. She's got it nailed down, but
- 2:04this thievery off the trees, she has now recruited all of her
- 2:07little cohorts into it and they come with her in the morning.
- 2:11And I have to be out here early to get these before anybody else
- 2:16does because goodness gracious, the last thing I want to do is
- 2:19come out and see 57 chickens eating all the figs.
- 2:24I would lose my mind because I'm completely obsessed with the
- 2:27figs. So it's not that I don't share,
- 2:30I share. They've already had their fair
- 2:32share, but I have to make sure she can't get them and to watch
- 2:37them come out and do this and see how like really bright they
- 2:43are at this process just cracks me up.
- 2:46Every time I come out and I see what they're up to, it just
- 2:49makes me laugh because I'm like, Oh my gosh, look at them.
- 2:52I I cannot get over how quickly a chicken can jump when there's
- 2:57a fig involved. Which brings me to my point of
- 2:59what is this all about? Kim, what are you talking about
- 3:01today? It's amazing when we have the
- 3:03motivation we want, how we can get what we want.
- 3:07Now, getting a chicken to jump normally, even if I have a treat
- 3:10in my hand that they would want, they don't just jump.
- 3:14They they don't, they just won't jump up.
- 3:17They're very stubborn. But you bring out a fig and
- 3:20you've changed the rules of the game.
- 3:21My friends, they're all over it. They will jump, they will go in
- 3:25the air, they will follow you. There is something magical about
- 3:29figs and chickens that I don't know that most of us knew.
- 3:33However, here's what's really interesting.
- 3:35It's it follows the same rule for us.
- 3:38If there is motivation, we are, we will do it.
- 3:43We will find it. The question is always figuring
- 3:45out what is your motivation? What personal motivation do you
- 3:48have? Are you money motivated?
- 3:51Are you time motivated? Are you, you know, are there
- 3:54gifts that motivate you? Like, what is it?
- 3:56What brings you that level of oomph that will make you move
- 4:01your butt and do what you need to do?
- 4:03For some of us, you know, like I used to be like motivated by
- 4:07desperation more than anything. When I was a single mom, it was
- 4:11I had to hustle like I and I'm always, it's been ingrained to
- 4:17me to be a hustler. But when I was by myself taking
- 4:20care of my daughter, it was absolute.
- 4:23You know, you, you go and do you do what you need to do to make
- 4:27sure everything is taken care of.
- 4:29And it was no joke for me. I did it and I, I was never
- 4:32sorry. I did it the way I did it
- 4:33because I knew if I was able to grind and push it, yes, it was
- 4:39motivated by desperation, but I definitely got what I needed out
- 4:42of it. So you've got to understand,
- 4:44know your motivation, and I'll tell you what, these chickens
- 4:48know their motivation. They got this nailed down.
- 4:50So figure it out. I hope you guys have a blessed
- 4:53day and I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
