- 0:06SPEAKER_03: Well, hey everybody.
- 0:07SPEAKER_03: Welcome back to yet another exciting episode of the Steve and Jeff Show.
- 0:11SPEAKER_03: I'm Steve.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: And I'm Jeff.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: How's it going, Steve?
- 0:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, Jeff, Jeff, we are getting such great response to those shows we've had, you know, with the comedians and then the one about aromantic love.
- 0:21SPEAKER_03: I mean, that one I'm I'm hearing about that one everywhere I go.
- 0:24SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you.
- 0:25SPEAKER_03: Everybody's saying, hey, I'm aromantic too.
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: Hey, you know, it's it's wonderful.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: Well, I think we're seeing the effect of doing these worldwide searches for common people, people, everyday people, because we're going to the ends of the earth to find great people to interview.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: And it just keeps getting better and better, Steve.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: It does.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: And you know, we're not unlike that, that MMA guy, you know, we're not relying on big name celebrities or anything.
- 0:51SPEAKER_03: No, we're talking to real people.
- 0:52SPEAKER_03: We're talking to the the real people, the people that matter, the people that do the work, the people that do the suffering, the people that do the straining, the people that do the fun.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: And today, Jeff, today we've got somebody.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: We have a guest in our in our studio here at eccentric Ladyland Studios.
- 1:09SPEAKER_03: We have a guest that is one of those people that did the fun.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: Jeff, this lady won a trip to the Super Bowl.
- 1:16SPEAKER_03: Now, of course, Jeff, I know you're a big sports fan.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: I know you watched the Super Bowl.
- 1:20SPEAKER_03: I I did.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: And you know what, Steve?
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: The odds are like a billion to one to win a trip like that.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: Oh, absolutely.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: You know, so absolutely.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Well, how lucky could she be?
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: I can't wait to talk to her.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: And you know, I got to admit, I'm I'm somewhat of a sports fan, but I probably I'd like to win a trip to like the Super Bowl commercials more than the Super Bowl itself, but but I digress.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: But you know, you know, Jeff, she is right here.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: I tap the old glass, she's right here in the studio.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: And uh her name is uh Cindy Davenport.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: Cindy, welcome to the show.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: Hi, I'm so excited to be here.
- 1:53SPEAKER_04: Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's hi Cindy.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: Hi, so tell us about this trip.
- 2:00SPEAKER_03: How'd you win a trip to the Super Bowl?
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, would you believe it was just it was just any other Wednesday, and I was shopping at my local Kroger store because I know that on Tuesday afternoons, that's when they do the stocking.
- 2:16SPEAKER_04: And I I I take my extreme couponing very seriously.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: So when I knew it was Wednesday morning, where was I?
- 2:25SPEAKER_04: I was at the grocery store taking advantage of the full stock so I get full coupon value.
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's and would you believe I'm checking out and as I'm going through the checkout aisle, I didn't even go to self-checkout because those coupons, they're murder to work with if you don't have a cashier.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and self-checkout.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: You don't work at Kroger, so you don't go to self-checkout.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: Yes, no, you don't work here.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: I went, yeah, I went there, and my favorite cashier, Mindy, who actually she said some snotty things about me once, but I think it was all a misunderstanding about a Campbell soup special.
- 3:02SPEAKER_04: Anyway, so I'm in line and all of a sudden she's scanning my Lipton soups, and you know, the box kind, not the canned kind.
- 3:12SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, the dry soup.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the I love that.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, with the diced chicken.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: Put that in a coffee cup, and it's just so good.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: And it keeps, it keeps.
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: Oh, I have some from when I was a kid.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: I'm still eating this.
- 3:24SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: I had so I was on probably box number 26, 27.
- 3:30SPEAKER_04: I was counting them to make sure I got full credit, and all of a sudden, uh a big buzzer went off.
- 3:37SPEAKER_04: And then there were streamers that fell from the ceiling and some balloons, and they told me I won a trip to the soup or bowl.
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: Oh man, yeah, that is exciting! Wow, that is so exciting.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: Now, now you you're you're from uh Kansas City, I understand, right?
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: I am.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: So this was a Kroger in Kansas City, right?
- 4:00SPEAKER_04: It was, yeah, it was, and and it is it was super exciting.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: It was so exciting.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: Everyone was paying attention and they took my picture.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: Oh, my kids were really excited too.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's great.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: I probably got on television and all kinds of things, right?
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh sure.
- 4:18SPEAKER_04: It was in the news, it was in the news that night, and then the night after they even put it on the internet.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 4:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they had they had it on the internet.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: Oh, Jeff, she's on the internet.
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: This is cool.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: This is very cool.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Now, Cindy, are you a sports fan in general?
- 4:34SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: I have well, I have three sons, and they each play different sports.
- 4:40SPEAKER_04: So I am such a big fan.
- 4:42SPEAKER_04: I always have the orange slices at halftime.
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: And also, like when they have, you know, I'm when it's cold outside, I have one of those zipper tents so that I can stay warm but still cheer on my little guy.
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's great.
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: You know, my mom used to come to all my games too.
- 5:00SPEAKER_03: And when it was her snack time, she would bring, she wouldn't bring orange slices.
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: They would always tell her, you know, bring something healthy.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: She'd bring like, you know, vodka and cigarettes, and the kids really liked her.
- 5:09SPEAKER_03: You know, she was a very popular mom.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: But oh no, that's very frowned upon.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's it.
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, they wouldn't do that now.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, back back when we were kids.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: It's just they just said, Oh, that's not a good idea, but they let us do it.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: But yeah, no, can't do that now.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: So so when you when you won and they said that you had won uh tickets to and and the the way you said it was interesting because I don't know if that's your Kansas City accent.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: You said soup or bowl, which is kind of interesting.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: It almost almost yeah, almost sounds like you're talking.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: It's like the like it was a round trip ticket.
- 5:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, round trip ticket.
- 5:44SPEAKER_04: I got to go to the airport, I packed a suitcase.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I decided to bring my best friend Sharon because she and I just have the same tastes.
- 5:55SPEAKER_04: And so I thought that if there's anyone that would really appreciate the trip, Sharon would be it.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's great.
- 6:02SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 6:02SPEAKER_03: So so Cindy, when you got to the when you got to the game, when you got to the stadium, just tell us about tell us about that experience.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: That has to be incredible, has to be an incredible experience.
- 6:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the whole thing was it was very exciting because we had to head to the airport.
- 6:17SPEAKER_04: There were it was round trip.
- 6:18SPEAKER_04: They had the round trip tickets covered.
- 6:20SPEAKER_04: So so I wanted to make sure that I got the full advantage of the package they were offering me.
- 6:26SPEAKER_04: So Sharon and I packed up, we went to LAX.
- 6:31SPEAKER_04: That is the the airport in LA in Los Angeles.
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: Los Angeles, yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: That's yeah, so that's so we flew, we flew there together.
- 6:42SPEAKER_04: We each got a soda while we were on the plane with a little bag.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: There was there were small bags for each of us.
- 6:50SPEAKER_04: She didn't necessarily want the cookies that they offered her, but I put them in my purse because you never know.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: Oh, with three boys, you're gonna use those cookies.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: Oh, absolutely.
- 7:00SPEAKER_04: It was it was such a fun girls' trip.
- 7:02SPEAKER_04: Like it could not have been a better girl's trip.
- 7:04SPEAKER_04: And then um we flew back to Kansas City, and then um really then it it got much just more crowded than I had expected.
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: I didn't know how many other people were interested in couponing, but Sharon was a good sport about it, and everything was paid for.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: So um we still had a good time, even even with the time that we spent in Kansas City.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, I bet, I bet it really was crowded there.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: And uh say they probably put you up at a really nice hotel, I bet too, right?
- 7:38SPEAKER_04: It no, it was nice, it was really nice.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: There was room service and there was an elevator, and more than one person could go in there, and it didn't smell that bad either.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 7:49SPEAKER_03: Well, that's certainly not like our studio here, let me tell you.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: No, we apologize.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: We're gonna clean this up eventually.
- 7:55SPEAKER_03: As if you want some old mac and cheese, my mom is it's still from Christmas, still got it back there.
- 7:59SPEAKER_04: But that's okay.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: I have snacks in my purse.
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: Oh, you got the cookies, yeah.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you're good.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: You're good.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: And now I imagine you're a lifelong forever Lipton soup uh loyalist, right?
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: You're oh sure.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: Probably all you eat, which is uh it's it's good for you.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: You know, Lipton soup pretty much is like the soup that my dad used to make.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Well, he made it in prison, probably with Lipton soup.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a hot plate.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: I love that soup.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: My favorite is that is their tea flavored soup.
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: It is so good.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: It's so good.
- 8:32SPEAKER_04: Straightforward, yeah.
- 8:33SPEAKER_04: And you can have it in a mug, and then it's tea or it's soup, or it's soup or it's tea.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: You get you get a couple of them, you put it in the big bowl, and it's just it's really it's good cold too.
- 8:42SPEAKER_03: I I put ice in it one time, and wow, this is pretty good too.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: I kind of like well, and you know, you can make a great California onion dip, California LAX.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's all very good together.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: There's this cross-promoting thing in an advertising world, that's where you're talking about like connecting and cross-promoting, you know.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: So I'm sure that that was part of it, don't you think?
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: Sending her to LAX for the California dip?
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Probably, yeah.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 9:08SPEAKER_04: We I didn't really want to try a lot of cultural foods, you never really know if they're cooked all the way.
- 9:14SPEAKER_04: I just feel more comfortable if I have something that I buy at the gift shop at the airport, um, or one of those sandwiches that are pre-rolled, those usually look pretty safe.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, you know, the tuna salad that's in those vending machines, those are that's safe.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: You go to a restaurant, no matter what you're gonna get.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: It's a salad, it's healthy, right?
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: That's exactly right.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: So once you you were at the hotel and then just tell us about the tell us about the experience of going to the Super Bowl.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: Oh, sure.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: So so we were at the hotel and we had decided that we were just gonna sleep in and take our time, see if there was a spa or anything we could go to, but there wasn't really.
- 9:55SPEAKER_04: And it was just really loud downstairs too.
- 9:58SPEAKER_04: There were buses, they were people going in and out.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: And so we waited till the last minute to meet.
- 10:05SPEAKER_04: They sent somebody our escort, um, Sean.
- 10:08SPEAKER_04: So Sean met us downstairs in the lobby, and he was making sure that we got everywhere we needed to go, so we didn't get lost or anything because I don't have a um the the the gip is the um the on our like the rental the rental car didn't have um um the map, the electronic map there.
- 10:28SPEAKER_04: So we were using a paper.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
- 10:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so we were just using a paper map.
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: Gingers might say, Yeah, oh yeah, those are really good, yeah.
- 10:37SPEAKER_04: Um, but yes, Sean.
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: So Sean said that he was gonna make sure that we didn't disappear anywhere.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: And so we got in his car and he took us over to the venue, and it just it was bigger than I thought it would be, and also colder too.
- 10:55SPEAKER_04: It was colder uh because when we got in there, it wasn't I thought that it would be more contained, like a little bit more intimate.
- 11:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it just felt like we were eating with everyone, yeah, with like a big crowd, really big crowd, and they were loud, really loud, yeah, and they were wearing matching outfits too.
- 11:18SPEAKER_04: So I figured they were probably on the same soccer team and had just come right from practice, yeah.
- 11:25SPEAKER_03: And some of them are probably too old to be on a soccer team, you know.
- 11:28SPEAKER_04: Well, and they all had the same numbers too, they all had the same numbers, right?
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: So that's I don't envy the referee.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: No, I'm a big sports fan in general, not as much in certain sports, but I have to ask you this question.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure if the Super Bowl's actually in Kansas City, I think it might be in Phoenix.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: So when you were heading to the venue, oh what was at that venue?
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: Because and who is Tony?
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: Tony's the guy who picked you up.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: Is was no, that's Sean.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: Sean Sean.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: Sean picked you up.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: So I'm just wondering.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: Hey Jeff, we really don't care about her private life.
- 12:07SPEAKER_03: She she had an escort when she was there.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, you know, I you know, she's an adult.
- 12:12SPEAKER_04: I mean, what you know, uh it was a van.
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was a van.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: It took a really long time to get there.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: I bet.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: So maybe maybe they drove you to Phoenix.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't know how long it took, but I wasn't there for the ride.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know I understand what you're saying.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: So you end up at the venue, there's a lot of people there.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: And did they provide additional food or was it mostly just soup?
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: I they did have food there.
- 12:39SPEAKER_04: Um, it was hard to find soup.
- 12:41SPEAKER_04: It was much harder to find soup than I expected.
- 12:44SPEAKER_04: So, to be honest with you, if I hadn't had a pack of Lipton in my purse, I wouldn't have had soup that entire trip, which was a surprising turn.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: No, but there were foods in bowls, but not soup in bowls.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: See, that's the whole thing, the whole thing right sounds like it's misnamed.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: It's called the Super Bowl, but no soup.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: Bowls and no soup.
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: I didn't plan the trip, I I just went on it.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, and and and you know, uh, you know, Cindy, we've got a whole lot more to talk.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: We want to hear everything about the game, but uh, Jeff, we have a repeat sponsor.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: Wonderful.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: It's it's another ad from uh those good people who do well, they're good people on both sides at Uber, I guess, but uh good people at Uber.
- 13:29SPEAKER_03: And you remember when uh David Ortiz was on the show and uh we started talking about the the Uber funeral, Uber Hearst, and uh Uber took us up on that.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: And uh Jeff, they are gonna run an ad for that.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: So uh let's just go to commercial.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: You know Uber, and Uber Eats, and Uber Shopping.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: Now, get ready for the ultimate Uber experience.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Ah, funeral home says they need cash to send the hearst.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: No problem.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: I have the app.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Looks like there are four hearsts in the area.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Pietro can be here in six minutes.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: UberX, uh EX that is, will disrupt the funeral business just like we've disrupted everything else.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: With Uber EX, you can get a hearst in minutes for a fraction of the cost of funeral home rides.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: And we have several options for the sophisticated mourner.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: The regular EX gives the classic funeral experience.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: For the budget-minded, we have EX Chair, where two or more deceased can ride for one low cost.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: Additional cemetery stops do cost extra.
- 14:37SPEAKER_03: And for the deceased who wants to go out in style, Uber Limo EX gives a luxury send-off anyone would be proud of.
- 14:44SPEAKER_03: So download the app and be ready, because you never know when a cost-saving funeral may be just what you're looking for.
- 14:52SPEAKER_03: A Hearse from Uber EX.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: Ride sharing for that last ride.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: You know, Jeff, I am so proud that that was that that product was created on this show, on this podcast, this very podcast.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: I am too.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: And the only downside is you probably don't get great tips.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: You know, people are probably fairly depressed, depressed during uh, you know, the ride over to the David Ortiz said the dead people tip the best.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: Well, but I think there's something about David.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, he also mentioned that he kind of goes through their clothes and stuff, you know, like if there's any loose change and stuff like that.
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure they are voluntary tips as much as he might just assume they want to tip him.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: Uh and I'll bet he doesn't report those on his income taxes either.
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: I bet he doesn't.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: I bet he doesn't.
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: Well, we have to have a talk with him offline sometime.
- 15:46SPEAKER_03: But uh, but Cindy, Cindy, tell us more.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: So so you're at this big venue and uh you're getting some food, and uh so what what happens?
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: Well, Sharon was really frustrated because there were so many people around, and so she wasn't getting food, and there weren't even any tables, so trying to trying to eat was much harder than we expected it to be.
- 16:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, because our seats we had assigned seats, but when you got there, people were crowded in all around us, and they weren't even eating, they were just being loud, just yelling.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: You know, I hate I hate eating like that because I'm a I'm a messy eater anyway, and so if I'm sitting in a chair like that, it's this could be everywhere, you know.
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: So I I hate that.
- 16:27SPEAKER_04: Well, and then there was a screen, there was a screen right in front of us, and part of me thought, hey, you know, Sharon and I don't get these weekends away all that often.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: I mean, I leave the kids to spend time with my girlfriend, and instead of she and I being able to catch up since we last talked, we've got all these people interrupting us, and then there's just a TV in front of us.
- 16:49SPEAKER_04: We could have watched TV together at home, right?
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, you probably would have had a better view, and it certainly would have been quieter.
- 16:57SPEAKER_03: And you could sit at a table and eat at home.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: No, it's a lot of people.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: I imagine you also were wondering.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry, what'd you say, Cindy?
- 17:03SPEAKER_04: No, it just that it really makes you appreciate sometimes, even though my house is rowdy, it wasn't that loud.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Well, and sometimes things are hyped and you know, they're sensationalized, and that causes people to get all excited and start yelling and screaming.
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: So uh yeah, I can understand how you would be disappointed.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: And probably from your side, it's like soup or bowl.
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: You were expecting either to go bowling or eat soup, and here you are in this venue where there's nothing going on except people screaming in a big screen.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: There's no soup and there's no bowling.
- 17:38SPEAKER_03: There's no bowling.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: I mean, yeah.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: What?
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: That's false advertising.
- 17:41SPEAKER_04: So, I mean, it was still a free trip, so it wasn't like all lost.
- 17:46SPEAKER_04: And then because we had insisted on taking advantage of the round trip, making it to LA and back to Kansas City before we went to to actually eat, it just seemed like it still was an adventure.
- 18:00SPEAKER_04: I mean, I don't regret the soup.
- 18:02SPEAKER_04: I don't regret the soup.
- 18:04SPEAKER_03: Oh, well, that's the soup is what got you there.
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's that's good stuff.
- 18:08SPEAKER_03: That is good stuff, and it's really good soup.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: I I'm a I'm a big fan, and maybe there'll be an advertiser sometime, Steve.
- 18:15SPEAKER_03: I think we're saying such good things about them that they really should.
- 18:19SPEAKER_03: You know, they should listen to this and say, hey, why don't we advertise on that on that show?
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: Because look, they like us already.
- 18:25SPEAKER_03: This would be perfect.
- 18:26SPEAKER_03: This would be perfect.
- 18:28SPEAKER_03: So now uh Cindy, what what'd you think of the what'd you think of the halftime show?
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: What's the what's the halftime show like when you're there?
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: Because you know, we've seen it on TV, but I gotta think when you're there, it must be I don't know, different somehow.
- 18:39SPEAKER_03: Maybe, maybe more impressive, maybe less.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: You mean like the dinner theater?
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 18:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: So I I now I've seen flamingo dancers before, and I and I know, you know, especially like my husband's taking me out to eat around Valentine's Day, and then there are always those people like selling roses or like the the guys in the sombreros who want to serenade you.
- 19:02SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 19:02SPEAKER_04: So it was it was hard to see.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: Um, and there were a lot of flashing lights.
- 19:07SPEAKER_04: Sharon and I did not talk very much.
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: I mean, we talked more in the car.
- 19:10SPEAKER_04: I mean, Sean was a little bit was a little chatty, but otherwise we got to talk then.
- 19:15SPEAKER_04: But no, you could not talk at the meal when everybody else was there.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: It's like having a conversation at a Ramones concert or something, right?
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: It's loud.
- 19:25SPEAKER_04: It is loud.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: And then I thought they were just gonna do it again because they made a comment about re-adding it or re there was some they were gonna do it again.
- 19:35SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 19:36SPEAKER_04: Wow at the at at the halfway point through the meal.
- 19:39SPEAKER_04: So then I thought, well, maybe we get to start again, but we did.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: You know, Steve, everybody fantasizes about winning, you know, being getting the golden ticket.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: And now, you know, what Cindy is really pointing out is that, you know, sometimes things aren't all they're cracked up to be.
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: And uh it sounds like Cindy, they probably could have done a little better job on making the experience a memorable one for you.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: Um, but you don't regret doing it, do you?
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: No, I well, it's just like Charlie in the chocolate factory, right?
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: I mean, he got the golden ticket, but then he had all the responsibility of running the factory.
- 20:12SPEAKER_04: Oh, spoiler alert, I should have said that at the beginning.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 20:17SPEAKER_03: Well, and sometimes you get that golden ticket and wow, it it's brass, you know?
- 20:21SPEAKER_03: It's just not kind of what you thought it was gonna be.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: But brass can be pretty.
- 20:25SPEAKER_04: Sometimes I we pick up because we go to antique shows.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: So let me let's go back to one other thing.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: So, okay, so when it was over, did they fly you back to LA and back again as part of the trip?
- 20:39SPEAKER_02: And if so, like it was it a private jet or was it uh, you know, like a top flight uh airline, you know, like Spirit or you know, Joe JetBlue or JetBlue or Joe Blue.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, how did they how did how was that?
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: And you know, I bet as a contest winner, you didn't even have to pay five bucks to use the bathroom in on jet blue.
- 20:59SPEAKER_03: I bet they spiffed you for that, right?
- 21:01SPEAKER_04: No, well, because they'd done the round trip before we went, we basically we just got a ride home with Sean.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, he went through the drive-through for us um so that we could get um there was a special at Dunkin' Donuts, and so yeah, they had like some kind of late night thing.
- 21:20SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 21:21SPEAKER_04: We went through there, and then later on, as part of the drive, we did swing by McDonald's and Sharon and I shared a happy meal.
- 21:28SPEAKER_04: And let me keep the prize.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Well, there you go.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: So who knows?
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Maybe the next it could have been the prize, could have been a golden ticket again.
- 21:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so you actually you actually won twice.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: You won the prize and you won the and you won the Super Bowl too.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: That's very true.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's great.
- 21:46SPEAKER_03: That is you're a lucky person.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: You know, I bet there are a lot of people out there that would have would have loved to have won that prize and gone to the Super Bowl and just had that had that great experience.
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: You know, you we we see all the all the sports things, but you know.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Well, this is really getting into the the drama, getting into the human story of those who go to these things.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: And it it's just it's a beautiful story.
- 22:08SPEAKER_03: It really is.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: I think now are you a gambler at all?
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: Cindy, do you gamble at all?
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: Because I know a lot of people bet on uh on the game, on the event, but you're not.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: You're not a big gambler.
- 22:19SPEAKER_04: No, no, I I do watch, like I pay attention to things because I need to make sure that I'm taking advantage of my coupon specials.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: If there is some competition in town as far as who's selling what stock, I pay attention to that.
- 22:36SPEAKER_04: Also, um, my youngest son, there was a drawing to decide who was going to be president of the PTA during the year that I was running.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: And I just, I know it was a tie, but it just really turned me off to any kind of gambling because once Miranda stepped into the the lead position, the chair, she didn't let it go for like five years.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: And so there we were in fifth grade, and Miranda is still throwing parties with like cupcake themes and Power Rangers.
- 23:10SPEAKER_04: She just doesn't understand what is hip with the kids.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they'd rather have like uh I don't know, edibles or something, right?
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: At fifth grade.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: I mean, right?
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: Wouldn't that that would that'd be more appropriate, right?
- 23:22SPEAKER_04: Something edible, yeah.
- 23:24SPEAKER_04: Well, or a happy meal.
- 23:25SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 23:26SPEAKER_04: And then maybe they meet their best friend, maybe they share the prizes, or maybe we just have soup.
- 23:31SPEAKER_04: Why can't we just have soup on a on a side?
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: Soup is so wonderful.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: Yes, this is a perfect food, perfect food for winter, winter in Kansas City.
- 23:39SPEAKER_03: Hey, soup.
- 23:40SPEAKER_03: It's got soup written all over it.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: Now, were there any were there any celebrities there?
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: You know, you always hear, you know, like Larry King will end up going to the soup soup or bowl.
- 23:50SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna bet I'm not betting man, but I'm gonna bet Larry King didn't go to this one.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I hear that he he's not into sports anymore.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:57SPEAKER_03: Or anything.
- 23:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's not just kind of kind of lost interest in, you know, kind of everything.
- 24:03SPEAKER_02: But but I digress ever since he lost his show.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, yeah, that'll do it.
- 24:07SPEAKER_02: Uh you know, yeah, that was his life, you know.
- 24:10SPEAKER_03: But I digress.
- 24:11SPEAKER_03: You were anyways.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: Are there any, yeah, are any any celebrities that you may have run into, you know, a Robin Williams or anybody like that?
- 24:18SPEAKER_04: I bet he wasn't there either, but they had big buses, so I knew important people were there, but it almost seemed like they just had like bouncers where they didn't want anyone near anyone because there were just these huge guys everywhere.
- 24:32SPEAKER_03: Wow, yeah.
- 24:33SPEAKER_04: Well, and the bus thing, yeah, yeah, it did seem like a rough crowd.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: You know, John Madden.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: I I think I don't know if you remember who that is, but John Madden used to over the case.
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: Oh, I think he was there.
- 24:43SPEAKER_04: I think he was there.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because he he takes a bus, he has his own tricked up bus.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: So he might have been there.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh you may not have seen him, but I know he that would be new.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: You'd get a photo of him.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: That we could run, we could run that on the website, Jeff.
- 24:57SPEAKER_03: You run a photo of John John Madden 2023.
- 25:01SPEAKER_04: Sharon.
- 25:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'll ask Sharon if she got any pictures of us with John.
- 25:04SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, let us know if there's any any other celebrities that that might have been there.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Uh, because we we would certainly like to post that.
- 25:12SPEAKER_02: And people I think would be very interested.
- 25:14SPEAKER_03: I heard that uh Marky Post went there too.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: Is that right?
- 25:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, I don't think I saw him.
- 25:19SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: No, yeah, maybe, maybe not, but I don't know.
- 25:22SPEAKER_03: I read it somewhere, but who knows?
- 25:24SPEAKER_03: You know, you read you read all this stuff, and who knows, who knows what's true and what isn't, you know.
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: Well, speaking of that, I mean I don't know if the two of you watch a lot of TV, but Nightcourt is back on TV.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: And it is.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: They're look, they're not looking real good.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: I don't think I don't know if Marky is on there.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: Is it Marky?
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: Is that what she was on it?
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, is that right, Steve?
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: Well, no, but I don't know if she was on the case.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna bet she's not on it, you know.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, probably not.
- 25:48SPEAKER_03: I think she's she's on the Larry King show now, if you know what I mean.
- 25:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, is she?
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, well, that's good.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: I would I would like to to listen to that.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: She's always uh interesting character.
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: He's back to Late, you know, yeah, John Larricat.
- 26:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: No, I usually watch Cheers.
- 26:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, great old show.
- 26:07SPEAKER_03: Wow, that was great.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: Oh, absolutely, one of the greats.
- 26:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was hoping to see I was hoping to see Kirsty uh Kirsty Alley there, but was she there?
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: She wasn't there, you didn't run into her.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, what about the coach from Cheers?
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: Wasn't remember there was uh that character, he was the bartender coach, yeah, coach.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: Oh, I didn't see him sports guy.
- 26:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I didn't see him, but I did hear a lot of people talking about him.
- 26:33SPEAKER_03: I think there was some news footage of like when the team was coming out onto the field.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: I think I think he was there.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: You saw a coach?
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think I saw coach, yeah.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: That could be, yeah.
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: So I think he was there, unlike those others.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: No, I I think he was.
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: Well, it would have been nice to get a group photo of all of them.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: You know, yeah.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: I think the only one that isn't around anymore is Ted Danson.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't think he is uh yeah, he probably make it, yeah.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but uh pretty much everybody else probably made it to the Super Bowl.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: Super Bowl.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: Well, and and here, this is Cindy.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: There's next time you win a trip to the Super Bowl, bring those cameras because hey, you know, you're gonna take all these group shots of all these celebrities that are there.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna go again.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: Oh, it wasn't it wasn't a fun, it wasn't an enjoyable time.
- 27:18SPEAKER_04: No, it was okay.
- 27:19SPEAKER_04: It was it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
- 27:22SPEAKER_04: I think I would have been just as happy at home.
- 27:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, don't blame you.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: Nice thing at home is you can you can fast forward through a lot of the game stuff and get right to the commercials.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: You can just go right to the important part.
- 27:33SPEAKER_03: Wait, what theme stuff?
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: Oh, the game stuff and and on the like bowl.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, all those big guys, you know, they go, they throw this ball around and you know, it's it's some kind of game.
- 27:44SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: I'll just have to I'll have to take your word for it.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: I just I only watch the commercials, so I don't really know the game per se, but you know, I know they're doing something and it's well these hey, the commercials are really usually really good.
- 27:57SPEAKER_03: I mean, some years are better than others, just it's like wine, you know.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: Some years are gonna be better than others, but you know, they're all usually pretty good.
- 28:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like a wine spritzer, like a wine spritzer, yeah, which is is always appropriate.
- 28:10SPEAKER_03: Yes, yes.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: Well, Cindy, maybe what we should do, Steve.
- 28:13SPEAKER_02: I'm kind of just thinking off the top of my head is but Cindy sounds like she'd be a good reporter for our show.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, future, yeah.
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: Well, sure.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: When there's other events going on, send you there.
- 28:27SPEAKER_04: I'm very observant, I'm very observant, and I could bring Sharon.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: If we had our own car, Sharon could have driven that and we wouldn't even have needed Sean.
- 28:36SPEAKER_03: So and the level of detail on the mobile.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: Oh, the level of detail that you've been giving is just is outstanding.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: So, yes, you'd be a great reporter.
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: So we may we may want to send you on an assignment out in the field.
- 28:49SPEAKER_04: Okay, no, yeah, you'll just have to tell me because I have to make sure to check the boys' soccer schedule.
- 28:53SPEAKER_04: But otherwise, as long as it's not a Wednesday morning, I am available.
- 28:58SPEAKER_03: Cool.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: Well, you know, unfortunately, we're gonna get uh we're gonna get kicked out of uh eccentric Lady Land Studios here.
- 29:05SPEAKER_03: But listen, Cindy, thanks very much for coming on the show and telling us all about the Super Bowl.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: Because thank you, Cindy.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: Dramatic, valuable insight.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: Thank you for having me.
- 29:16SPEAKER_04: This was so much fun.
- 29:17SPEAKER_04: This was almost as much fun as the trip.
- 29:19SPEAKER_04: I mean, not the the cookies were really good too.
- 29:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, I bet, yeah.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, those airlines have good cookies.
- 29:25SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:27SPEAKER_02: And Steve, I guess we'll see you around.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: Yes, Jeff, I will see you in the next show with we'll have we'll have a different guest, but next show I will see you, Jeff.
- 29:35SPEAKER_03: And thanks again, Cindy.
- 29:36SPEAKER_04: Thank you, thank you, Cindy.
