- 0:02Speaker 1: live podcast. Find your local station for Stugatz and Company

- 0:10Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app by searching FSR.
- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the best of Stugatz and Company live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: All right, I have two segments here, two windows. as
- 0:23Speaker 1: we like to say, to take phone calls. This one,
- 0:27Speaker 1: and coming up at 345. 877-99 on Fox. Your thoughts
- 0:32Speaker 1: from a tremendous football weekend, both on Saturday and Sunday.
- 0:36Speaker 3: The NFL was ridiculous yesterday.
- 0:39Speaker 1: But we have about 12 minutes here to take some
- 0:42Speaker 1: phone calls.
- 0:42Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox. That is 877-99 on Fox.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Have a fun show for you. No Taylor, no Mikey A.,
- 0:51Speaker 1: Just me and you. I have crawled through a river
- 0:53Speaker 1: of podcasts. God bless football, college football with Stugatz and Baer. And,
- 0:59Speaker 1: of course, Stugatz and Company, the show we do before
- 1:02Speaker 1: the show. But we do have Frank Caliendo coming up
- 1:05Speaker 1: in about 20 minutes. Looking forward to that. We'll talk
- 1:08Speaker 1: about the Madden movie that he's not in. And we'll
- 1:11Speaker 1: promote his two shows coming up here. Frank on stage
- 1:14Speaker 1: dot com right down here where I am at West
- 1:18Speaker 1: Palm Beach. So eight seven seven ninety.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Nine on Fox four o'clock hour.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We have the weekend observations coming up and we have
- 1:25Speaker 1: the head coach of the University of Oregon. Dan Lanning
- 1:30Speaker 1: is going to join us in the second hour. So
- 1:33Speaker 1: a lot to do here on the show.
- 1:34Speaker 3: A lot of fun. to be had.
- 1:37Speaker 1: It was interesting over the weekend here, and again, Frank
- 1:39Speaker 1: Caliendo in about 15 minutes. It was interesting over the
- 1:43Speaker 1: weekend to see USC and Oregon play, to see that
- 1:48Speaker 1: hit on their quarterback, and to see Dylan Rayola, of
- 1:52Speaker 1: all people, who I had no idea was still playing
- 1:55Speaker 1: college football, was a guy that we kind of mocked.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Not kind of mocked. We did mock for trying to
- 2:01Speaker 1: beat Patrick Mahomes. The reaction to that hit was amazing,
- 2:06Speaker 1: and the way he played was unbelievable. You know, coaches
- 2:09Speaker 1: say to players all the time, when I call your number,
- 2:13Speaker 1: you have to be ready. And for the life of me,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I cannot believe that Rayola was ready. I just, of
- 2:20Speaker 1: all the people, I can't believe that he was ready.
- 2:23Speaker 1: The NFL was fantastic yesterday. This is interesting, and I
- 2:28Speaker 1: cannot recall a single example of what we are witnessing
- 2:34Speaker 1: in the NFL. Drake May was a quarterback that we
- 2:40Speaker 1: watched play in the Super Bowl not too long ago.
- 2:43Speaker 1: It's like seven or eight months ago. And it looks
- 2:47Speaker 1: to me like Drake May, again, he is seven or
- 2:52Speaker 1: eight months removed from taking the Patriots to the Super Bowl.
- 2:56Speaker 3: They were a game away from winning it all.
- 3:00Speaker 1: And if you watch their game against Jacksonville yesterday.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And I asked you, hey, that quarterback playing for the Patriots,
- 3:09Speaker 1: do you think he's ever played in a Super Bowl?
- 3:11Speaker 3: You would have laughed at me and said, hell no.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Drake May, it appears, and I'd be interested to hear
- 3:19Speaker 1: from Dan Beyer on this, who I can't see for
- 3:21Speaker 1: some reason.
- 3:22Speaker 3: But I can speak to.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Dan, it appears to me that Drake May forgot how
- 3:29Speaker 1: to play the game of football.
- 3:31Speaker 3: He is lacking confidence.
- 3:32Speaker 1: He is not the same person we saw play against
- 3:36Speaker 1: your Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
- 3:39Speaker 3: He was like a clown out there. It was a
- 3:40Speaker 3: clown show. It was ridiculous. And I can't think of
- 3:43Speaker 3: a guy.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Who has gone from where he has been, which is
- 3:47Speaker 1: playing for a Super Bowl, to a guy who looks
- 3:50Speaker 1: like he forgot to play the.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Sport that he was drafted to play. It was odd
- 3:53Speaker 3: to see, wasn't it?
- 3:54Speaker 4: It was so bad. And to your point, Stu, I
- 3:57Speaker 4: think you could put playoffs. Like, this guy took a
- 3:59Speaker 4: team to the playoffs. would be a stretch for how
- 4:02Speaker 4: bad it worked. Travis Hunter hadn't had an interception his
- 4:05Speaker 4: entire NFL career until Drake May threw one right to him.
- 4:08Speaker 3: And again, for whatever.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Reason, Drake May loves to do this around the end
- 4:13Speaker 4: zone because he did it when they were in field
- 4:14Speaker 4: goal range against the Seahawks. He threw it directly to
- 4:18Speaker 4: Travis Hunter yesterday. Yeah, I think Rabel's even just kind
- 4:21Speaker 4: of like.
- 4:23Speaker 3: All right, dude. What the heck? Because he's even searching
- 4:25Speaker 3: for answers. He was awful. And you can't blame it
- 4:27Speaker 3: all on A.J. Brown's absence either.
- 4:30Speaker 1: No.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Because even though he's a wide receiver, number one, they
- 4:34Speaker 4: didn't have A.J. Brown last year, and he wasn't doing
- 4:36Speaker 4: this last year. And you can't say that, well, the
- 4:37Speaker 4: loss is defending. No, this is all on his shoulders,
- 4:40Speaker 4: and it's been more regression than progression.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It's odd to see. It really is.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I don't know how many turnovers he had exactly yesterday,
- 4:49Speaker 1: but he should have had eight more. That's how bad
- 4:52Speaker 1: it was against the Jacksonville Jaguars. What were your takeaways yesterday, Dan?
- 4:57Speaker 1: Do you have a quarterback controversy in Seattle?
- 5:00Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you what, aside from the awful pick,
- 5:02Speaker 4: and by the way, that is why the Seahawks won
- 5:05Speaker 4: the Super Bowl last year, is because Sam Darnold didn't
- 5:08Speaker 4: turn the football over. For as great as their defense
- 5:11Speaker 4: had been, He didn't turn the football over, and he
- 5:14Speaker 4: was great yesterday. Sands the pick six that ends up
- 5:17Speaker 4: ultimately costing them the victory, and it was an awful
- 5:21Speaker 4: pick six. Shahid was wide open, but not putting it
- 5:24Speaker 4: all on Darnold. You know what struck me the most?
- 5:27Speaker 4: is that people hate Sean Payton so much that they'll
- 5:30Speaker 4: actually cheer for the Rams and side with them with calls.
- 5:33Speaker 4: All we've talked about this offseason, since Miles Garrett was
- 5:38Speaker 4: traded and Aaron Donald came back and how the Rams
- 5:41Speaker 4: are the super team, you would think everybody would cheer
- 5:44Speaker 4: against them and relish their victory. bad games and bad
- 5:49Speaker 4: calls that go against them but everybody last night is
- 5:51Speaker 4: like yeah rams got screwed grams totally bad pass interference
- 5:55Speaker 4: call people don't like sean payton that much that they'd
- 5:57Speaker 4: rather cheer for the rams than sean payton on sunday.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Night that's how bad sean payton is you're right that
- 6:02Speaker 1: they will cheer they will cheer for mcveigh uh only
- 6:06Speaker 1: if it comes at the.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Expense We all hated the Rams. Nobody likes the Rams.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Yet last night, we're like, injustice in the NFL. This
- 6:15Speaker 3: needs to stop.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Here's what's funny about the NFL and us not knowing
- 6:19Speaker 1: what we're watching every Sunday and why previewing stuff is
- 6:22Speaker 1: absolutely ridiculous. The Raiders are 3-0. The Rams are 1-2.
- 6:26Speaker 1: The Browns are 2-1. The team that Miles Garrett left...
- 6:31Speaker 1: The Cleveland Browns, because he thought, I could never win
- 6:34Speaker 1: a Super Bowl there. They're 2-1. The team he went
- 6:37Speaker 1: to to win a Super Bowl is 1-2, and Miles
- 6:41Speaker 1: Garrett is out for the next four or five weeks.
- 6:44Speaker 1: We have no idea what we're watching. How do you
- 6:46Speaker 1: feel about Browns fans? This is interesting, because I want
- 6:49Speaker 1: to ask the audience. Browns fans rooting towards the end
- 6:53Speaker 1: of that game for Deshaun Watson.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Fans only care about their feel-good. They're 2-1.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson was a big part of the reason why
- 7:02Speaker 1: they got to 2-1 yesterday at home.
- 7:04Speaker 3: How do you feel about that, Dan?
- 7:06Speaker 1: Because I said headed into that game, this is a
- 7:09Speaker 1: game for Deshaun Watson. Either he will get the entire
- 7:13Speaker 1: Cleveland Browns fan base to rally behind him, or he'll
- 7:16Speaker 1: never play quarterback in the NFL again. And it looks
- 7:19Speaker 1: like Deshaun Watson's going to be the starter for the
- 7:22Speaker 1: remainder of the season for the Cleveland Browns.
- 7:24Speaker 4: He threw 144 yards and they're going crazy like that.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Like that's what they want.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 3: They won.
- 7:29Speaker 4: And that's like, I thought Munkin was kind of a
- 7:31Speaker 4: sacrificial lamb. I thought that me'd maybe be there one
- 7:34Speaker 4: year and then they'll have the number one pick or
- 7:36Speaker 4: have a, have a high pick and have another pick
- 7:38Speaker 4: with the Rams. And then they'd bring a new coach
- 7:40Speaker 4: in and, start fresh and get rid of Deshaun Watson
- 7:44Speaker 4: and get rid of Shador Sanders and move on from that.
- 7:46Speaker 4: But Munkin's kind of been a folk hero. I don't
- 7:49Speaker 4: know if it was from responding to Mike Tomlin the
- 7:51Speaker 4: way that he did on the Browns are going to Brown.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Sort of deal.
- 7:54Speaker 4: But even like he gave a speech yesterday after they
- 7:57Speaker 4: were just in speaking with the media. And I think
- 7:59Speaker 4: like Cleveland loves Todd Munkin now.
- 8:01Speaker 3: It's yes. Yeah. It's a complete reversal of what I
- 8:05Speaker 3: thought it would be.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It is interesting. I'm trying to put myself... I'm trying
- 8:10Speaker 1: to make myself a Cleveland Brown fan. It's bad enough
- 8:14Speaker 1: being a Jet fan, Dan. But I am trying to think,
- 8:18Speaker 1: because they are starving for winning. They are starving for
- 8:21Speaker 1: any sort of feel-good as it relates to their football team.
- 8:24Speaker 1: If I could find myself in any scenario rooting for
- 8:29Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson, a guy who has so many off-the-field issues,
- 8:33Speaker 1: I guess what I'm asking here is... Do you put
- 8:35Speaker 1: your own feel-good ahead of everything?
- 8:38Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I know. I know. I can't not think
- 8:43Speaker 3: about it, though. That's the thing. I can't not do it.
- 8:51Speaker 1: There is no scenario in which you could find yourself,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you think, rooting for Deshaun Watson.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Is that what you're saying? Yeah, exactly. I'd love to
- 9:00Speaker 3: root for the people of Cleveland. I'd love to.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Root for Todd Munkin and everybody else. Quinn shot junk
- 9:06Speaker 4: kids and, and all of the, uh, the Browns.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Absolutely. But just can't do it.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Mike Singletary once said, can't do it.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Can't do it. There, there. Thanks, Mike. Appreciate it.
- 9:17Speaker 1: So if you're cheering for Deshaun Watson and someone says, hey,
- 9:21Speaker 1: why are you cheering for that guy?
- 9:22Speaker 3: What do you say? No, I'm just cheering for the Browns, right?
- 9:24Speaker 3: That's it. Even that, it's, oh gosh, it's, yeah, it's difficult.
- 9:30Speaker 4: That fan base has been through, I mean, just, I mean,
- 9:33Speaker 4: but it's not like they were on Deshaun Watson's side
- 9:36Speaker 4: with all of this. I think they're even being forced to.
- 9:38Speaker 4: to cheer for him i think.
- 9:40Speaker 1: A majority of course yeah yeah because he's the starter
- 9:43Speaker 1: right now they don't want to cheer for him they'd
- 9:45Speaker 1: rather cheer for shador sanders but i'm not certain they're
- 9:48Speaker 1: two and one.
- 9:49Speaker 3: With shador sanders watson has played decent.
- 9:51Speaker 1: The last two weeks he has played i think better
- 9:54Speaker 1: than what you would have seen from Shador Sanders. So
- 9:57Speaker 1: let's take some calls here. 877-99 on Fox. That is
- 10:01Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. And again, Frank Caliendo going to join
- 10:05Speaker 1: us in about 10 minutes here. Let's go out to Nathan,
- 10:08Speaker 1: who's in North Carolina today. Nathan, go ahead. You are
- 10:11Speaker 1: on Fox Sports Radio.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:13Speaker 6: I want to check in and see if Izzy is.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Going to take Josh Allen over Patrick Mahomes yet.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Izzy is not here. I will ask him. I'm not small, man.
- 10:27Speaker 1: It's so tricky with Josh Allen. That's a game the
- 10:30Speaker 1: Bills probably should have lost. I'm tired of the Chargers,
- 10:32Speaker 1: by the way. Justin Herbert, enough. I'm tired of hearing
- 10:34Speaker 1: how good he is. It is tricky with Josh Allen
- 10:37Speaker 1: because I am on record as saying if Josh Allen
- 10:40Speaker 1: goes on to never win a Super Bowl, I will still.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Be willing to say... that he is one of the
- 10:45Speaker 3: all-time great quarterbacks.
- 10:46Speaker 1: We've never seen anything like him at that position, and
- 10:49Speaker 1: I'm not certain we'll ever see something at that position
- 10:52Speaker 1: like him ever again. Is he Patrick Mahomes in terms
- 10:55Speaker 1: of accomplishments, hardware, rings, all that?
- 10:58Speaker 3: No.
- 10:59Speaker 1: But Josh Allen is one of the great quarterbacks we
- 11:02Speaker 1: have ever seen. Patrick Mahomes is starting to look like
- 11:05Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes again.
- 11:06Speaker 3: He really is.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Let's go out to Kevin in Minnesota. Kevin, go ahead.
- 11:10Speaker 1: You're on Fox Sports Radio.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Hey, this goes out to Nolan Teasley for the 1%
- 11:15Speaker 5: chance that he has Fox sports radio, Stu guts and
- 11:18Speaker 5: company on for background noise in his office. Nolan, I
- 11:23Speaker 5: implore you.
- 11:24Speaker 3: I beg of you. Tony Dungy.
- 11:26Speaker 5: No, we, we go with Dennis green years later. We
- 11:29Speaker 5: have Tomlin in the building as our defensive court. No, no,
- 11:32Speaker 5: let's go with Brad children.
- 11:35Speaker 3: And we're going to go through this one more time.
- 11:37Speaker 5: I know Kevin O'Connell just got extended, but it was
- 11:39Speaker 5: before you started as our GM here. And now we
- 11:43Speaker 5: got blind Flores. off the Belichick tree. And we're going
- 11:47Speaker 5: to know now and now we're going to stick with
- 11:49Speaker 5: the brainchild, the quarterback whisperer, Kevin O'Connell, like Nolan, Nolan,
- 11:54Speaker 5: if you're listening, please, like I implore you, we can
- 11:57Speaker 5: be awful at quarterback.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Awful at offense.
- 12:00Speaker 5: The offense can't be clicking. We can do all of
- 12:03Speaker 5: that with Brian floors as our head coach. Like we
- 12:06Speaker 5: can botch quarterback.
- 12:08Speaker 6: Decisions and, and, And who should.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Be the extended into the season or next season and
- 12:14Speaker 5: who shouldn't be, we can make the wrong decisions with
- 12:16Speaker 5: Brian floors at the home. Like Brian's doing more with
- 12:19Speaker 5: less on the defense while Kevin's got one of the
- 12:23Speaker 5: best receivers in football. And we, it's like, we can't
- 12:27Speaker 5: figure out the offense. This is like two years, three
- 12:29Speaker 5: years running now, like Nolan, please.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I implore you. Okay. You're three. No, man.
- 12:40Speaker 4: And later this week, Mikey is going to tell us
- 12:41Speaker 4: that the Vikings are the number one overall seed in
- 12:44Speaker 4: the NFC.
- 12:45Speaker 3: So just prepare for that.
- 12:47Speaker 1: They are 3-0 with Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz. Like,
- 12:52Speaker 1: I think you're fine at the head coaching spot. We'll
- 12:55Speaker 1: take a quick time out here. Frank Caliendo is going
- 12:58Speaker 1: to join us coming up next. We'll talk Madden movie
- 13:00Speaker 1: with him. We will talk about his shows coming up
- 13:03Speaker 1: and he will get you ready in a way. like
- 13:06Speaker 1: you've never heard, for the baseball postseason, which is starting tomorrow.
- 13:11Speaker 3: But we all seem to forget why. Because the NFL.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 13:16Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific
- 13:21Speaker 2: on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 13:26Speaker 1: So we start today with a surprise small fact.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Of the day. I have no idea what this is.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Ben Verlander going to join us coming up in about
- 13:35Speaker 1: 15 minutes.
- 13:36Speaker 3: We'll talk some baseball with him.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But Taylor tells me, Mikey, he has a surprise small
- 13:41Speaker 1: fact of the day.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Are you aware of what it is he's about to
- 13:46Speaker 1: unleash on us here at Small, though?
- 13:49Speaker 3: I have tried to figure out what this could be,
- 13:52Speaker 3: and he is giving absolutely nothing.
- 13:54Speaker 7: He won't tell me what sport, if it is a sport,
- 13:59Speaker 7: that it has to do with.
- 14:00Speaker 3: He will tell me absolutely nothing about this.
- 14:03Speaker 8: Yes.
- 14:03Speaker 3: To the point where... This could actually be anything.
- 14:06Speaker 7: He could be telling me about a black hole supernova
- 14:09Speaker 7: type thing, and I still don't know.
- 14:11Speaker 3: You were very Izzy-like.
- 14:13Speaker 1: He announced that he had a surprise small fact of
- 14:16Speaker 1: the day. You did ask a ton of follow-up questions,
- 14:19Speaker 1: and he gave us nothing.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:22Speaker 3: He gave us absolutely— it' s a big secret.
- 14:24Speaker 1: He will not reveal a single thing to us, even
- 14:27Speaker 1: though it's a.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Very short fact. Go ahead.
- 14:30Speaker 7: This is a short fact that all he did was say,
- 14:33Speaker 7: I have a short.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Fact for you guys that you're not going to believe. Right.
- 14:37Speaker 7: But at this point, I've asked so many questions and
- 14:40Speaker 7: gotten so little response.
- 14:43Speaker 3: That this can't live up to anything. No.
- 14:45Speaker 1: He also said he has a short game for us
- 14:47Speaker 1: right after the short fact of the day.
- 14:49Speaker 3: I mean, everything's short. All right, Taylor. Yeah. All right.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You have piqued our curiosity. What is your surprise small
- 14:59Speaker 1: fact of the day?
- 15:01Speaker 6: So my fact that'll surprise you, because I'm not sure
- 15:04Speaker 6: this is on anybody's radar. I'm not sure anybody's aware
- 15:06Speaker 6: of it.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Right.
- 15:08Speaker 6: The NHL starts tonight.
- 15:11Speaker 3: What?
- 15:12Speaker 1: What?
- 15:15Speaker 3: We're back on the ice.
- 15:17Speaker 6: This is a situation where the NHL has to know
- 15:19Speaker 6: its place in the sports calendar.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:22Speaker 6: We got MLB postseason starting tonight. We're in the heart
- 15:26Speaker 6: of the college football season, the heart of the NFL season.
- 15:30Speaker 6: We don't need NHL at this point.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Mikey, you seem blown away by that small fact of
- 15:36Speaker 1: the day, as was I, by the way. I had
- 15:39Speaker 1: no idea the Florida Panthers season started tonight.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I mean, hockey starts. Hockey is back, Mikey. I belong to...
- 15:49Speaker 3: all of the betting sites, and usually you get, hey,
- 15:53Speaker 3: the season started today.
- 15:54Speaker 7: Here's a profit boost token for you.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I've gotten nothing.
- 16:00Speaker 7: I had zero idea that we were back.
- 16:05Speaker 3: On the ice today. I got to be honest.
- 16:07Speaker 1: If Taylor didn't provide us with the surprise small fat
- 16:10Speaker 1: of the day, a month could have gone by. I
- 16:12Speaker 1: still wouldn't have known that hockey had started.
- 16:14Speaker 3: How about that? So who you guys got lifting the cup?
- 16:18Speaker 3: Who lifted the cup last year? Who did? The Hurricanes.
- 16:24Speaker 3: That's right. Congratulations to Rob Brindamore. I forgot about that.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Who hoisted this year?
- 16:30Speaker 1: It's not going to be Edmonton. It's never Edmonton. It
- 16:33Speaker 1: was Edmonton back in the 80s after the Islanders won.
- 16:37Speaker 1: It hasn't been Edmonton since. So who's going to hoist
- 16:39Speaker 1: the cup before we get to some baseball here?
- 16:42Speaker 6: Ricardo is over my shoulder right now saying the Florida Panthers.
- 16:45Speaker 6: He keeps doing the Panthers sound effect. He's like.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, they got the wingmen. They got Brady and Matthew Kachuk.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It's a great podcast. I love those guys.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Mikey. Listen, nobody follows hockey like I do. Nobody
- 16:59Speaker 3: follows the pucks like I do.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:01Speaker 3: I mean, I knew the Hurricanes won last year.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:04Speaker 3: So I'm telling you now. Right. The Avalanches Cup to lose.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Put it on the poll, Taylor. Did you know the
- 17:10Speaker 1: NHL season starts tonight?
- 17:14Speaker 7: There's going to be 12 hockey hardos that are going
- 17:17Speaker 7: to be so mad that that's even on the poll.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Sorry, guys. Follow a better sport.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Right, like hardcore hockey fans who are like, why are
- 17:28Speaker 1: you guys doing this? Why are you talking like this
- 17:31Speaker 1: about my sport? How do you not know when you
- 17:33Speaker 1: do this for a living, host a national show, that
- 17:36Speaker 1: one of the four majors starts tonight?
- 17:41Speaker 3: Who is worse? Which hard-o? Soccer hard-o or hockey hard-o? Oh,
- 17:45Speaker 3: soccer hard-o is the worst. No, no, no, no. What
- 17:47Speaker 3: do you mean?
- 17:48Speaker 6: Hockey hard-o is worse because the hockey guy is always
- 17:53Speaker 6: in comparison with the NBA, and they'll do anything in
- 17:56Speaker 6: their power to let you know why the NBA is
- 17:59Speaker 6: worse than the NHL and everybody else kind of watching
- 18:01Speaker 6: is like, hockey guy. Nobody really cares.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but the soccer hard-o is different.
- 18:06Speaker 1: The soccer hard-o is constantly trying to explain why the
- 18:10Speaker 1: game is so beautiful, why.
- 18:12Speaker 3: The game is so great.
- 18:13Speaker 1: They're constantly trying to explain to me what it is
- 18:16Speaker 1: that I'm watching. I know what I'm watching. I'm watching
- 18:18Speaker 1: two teams play on a pitch and no one's scoring goals.
- 18:20Speaker 1: That's what I'm watching every single time I tune into soccer.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I know what it is. I just don't like it.
- 18:25Speaker 6: So the soccer guy... is trying to explain the sport
- 18:28Speaker 6: to you the nhl guy is trying to convince you
- 18:31Speaker 6: to like.
- 18:31Speaker 9: His sport see i agree with both of you but
- 18:36Speaker 9: i think the answer is easy soccer guy wants you
- 18:39Speaker 9: to watch his sport he wants to bring you in
- 18:41Speaker 9: he wants to grow it hockey guy is looking down
- 18:45Speaker 9: on you because you're not already there with.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Him right I mean, the soccer guy could grow it
- 18:50Speaker 1: if the soccer guy would go out on the pitch and.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Score a couple of goals for me.
- 18:54Speaker 7: Well, listen, we're not talking about which sport is better.
- 18:57Speaker 3: We're talking about which which hardo is worse. Yes, I
- 19:01Speaker 3: think the hard. Well, for me, it's soccer.
- 19:03Speaker 1: But I understand why you guys would say hockey because
- 19:05Speaker 1: Taylor's right. The soccer hardo is simply trying to grow
- 19:09Speaker 1: the sport.
- 19:10Speaker 3: He cares that much about it that he wants to take.
- 19:12Speaker 1: The time he wants to explain it to you the
- 19:14Speaker 1: hockey hard-up he has no time to explain anything he
- 19:18Speaker 1: just wants you to watch.
- 19:23Speaker 7: Both awful meals yes one of them has better customer service.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Soccer does right It's like Chris Whittingham explaining soccer to you.
- 19:32Speaker 3: He's going to do it. He's going to do it.
- 19:34Speaker 3: He's got a smile.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yes. Yes.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Yes. He's very polite.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And you might actually find yourself liking soccer just because
- 19:40Speaker 1: you like the guy who's explaining soccer to you.
- 19:43Speaker 7: Correct.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:44Speaker 7: Listen, I had a three-week run where I was really
- 19:47Speaker 7: into Chelsea.
- 19:48Speaker 3: And then they lost a couple of games.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 3: And I just, and football started and I just completely
- 19:54Speaker 3: checked out.
- 19:54Speaker 10: Right.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Who is my soccer team? I forget.
- 19:56Speaker 6: Ashton Villa.
- 19:57Speaker 3: How are they doing?
- 19:59Speaker 6: They can't be doing well.
- 20:00Speaker 3: They're just not that good.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Let's talk some Yankees here before Ben Verlander comes on.
- 20:08Speaker 3: You have Yankees, Red Sox tonight. You guys excited? Yankees
- 20:11Speaker 3: and Red Sox. I mean, come on.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I know you want it later in the playoffs, but...
- 20:15Speaker 1: You do have Yankees, Red Sox, wild card round. No Judge.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Stanton's playing. Not the guy you want playing. You'd rather
- 20:23Speaker 1: have Judge. If you could only choose one, you would
- 20:25Speaker 1: want Judge over Stanton. But how do you guys feel
- 20:27Speaker 1: headed into this series?
- 20:29Speaker 6: So I'm nervous heading into this series with no Aaron
- 20:31Speaker 6: Judge because you would like your MVP who crushes lefties.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Yes.
- 20:38Speaker 6: In against a team that's going to primarily throw lefties.
- 20:41Speaker 6: Game one for me, it's as close as a must
- 20:44Speaker 6: win as you could get when you have somebody like
- 20:46Speaker 6: Cam Schlittler taking the mound for the Yankees. He's going
- 20:49Speaker 6: to go up against Peyton Tolley from the Red Sox.
- 20:52Speaker 6: And Tolley has held the Yankees to a 093 batting
- 20:55Speaker 6: average over his career.
- 20:56Speaker 3: He's 1-0.
- 20:56Speaker 6: 0.69 ERA, 18 strikeouts in his career against the Yankees.
- 21:01Speaker 6: This is just strength on strength right now with Tully
- 21:03Speaker 6: and Schlittler. And right now you would be, the only
- 21:07Speaker 6: thing that gives me confidence, Mikey, is that the, that
- 21:09Speaker 6: this series is in New York. Other than that, I am,
- 21:14Speaker 6: I'm very scared for this, this wildcard series.
- 21:18Speaker 7: I'm not sure I wouldn't rather have a playoff Stanton
- 21:20Speaker 7: on the roster right now than a playoff judge.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Now, I want Aaron Judge back. Wow.
- 21:24Speaker 7: He does hit lefties and all that stuff. But let's
- 21:28Speaker 7: not discount what playoff Stanton is like. I will say this, though.
- 21:32Speaker 7: This is kind of a lose-lose series for us because either–
- 21:38Speaker 7: The Yankees are going to win and dominate like they're
- 21:40Speaker 7: supposed to because they are the better team. They're the
- 21:43Speaker 7: better roster. There is no like they just are the
- 21:46Speaker 7: better team or they're going to lose in those ugly
- 21:49Speaker 7: fashion stolen base in the ninth inning, followed by a
- 21:52Speaker 7: single to lose the game type ways. Not that I'm
- 21:56Speaker 7: still reeling from 2004. And it's just going to break
- 22:01Speaker 7: my heart.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Aaron Judge batted 500 last postseason.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I think we might want him in the lineup.
- 22:11Speaker 3: I mean, 500, Mikey. And how many games?
- 22:15Speaker 6: How many games?
- 22:16Speaker 3: How many at-bats? Give me all the postseason stats. Two
- 22:20Speaker 3: for four? Hold on. I want to hear them all.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Just relax for a second. He'll get to them. He's
- 22:23Speaker 3: getting to them. He'll get to them.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I want to hear all of them because this is
- 22:29Speaker 1: the guy that Mikey doesn't like.
- 22:31Speaker 7: I didn't say I didn't want him in the lineup.
- 22:33Speaker 7: I'm just saying, historically, postseason Stanton better than postseason.
- 22:37Speaker 1: If you noticed, I was pulling my thoughts back there
- 22:40Speaker 1: for a second. This is a guy he'd rather have
- 22:42Speaker 1: over Stanton, would less rather have than Stanton on his
- 22:46Speaker 1: playoff roster.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Give me the numbers from last year for Judge.
- 22:49Speaker 6: So last postseason, he was 13 of 26 in seven games.
- 22:54Speaker 6: The one knock, if you're trying to give Mikey A
- 22:57Speaker 6: credit here, Only one of those 13 hits was a
- 23:01Speaker 6: home run.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 23:02Speaker 6: So that's the knock on Aaron Judge, that he has
- 23:05Speaker 6: seven RBIs in seven games. And you would expect better
- 23:08Speaker 6: production in terms of extra base hits for somebody like
- 23:11Speaker 6: him when he carries over into the postseason.
- 23:13Speaker 3: But what Mikey A.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Is saying is the Yankees have to win this. Winning
- 23:17Speaker 1: this series just means they did what they were supposed
- 23:19Speaker 1: to do. Losing this series, you never stop hearing it
- 23:21Speaker 1: from Boston. It is like my, I'm totally with you
- 23:24Speaker 1: on this.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Yes.
- 23:25Speaker 3: You have to win the series.
- 23:26Speaker 1: You have the better team and you do have the
- 23:28Speaker 1: better picture tonight and you're at home.
- 23:31Speaker 3: And where I live in Connecticut. It's it's a 50
- 23:35Speaker 3: 50 split.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:36Speaker 7: I mean, it's it's it's a lot. So I can't
- 23:39Speaker 7: get away from it. Taylor, you're down in Miami. Right.
- 23:42Speaker 7: The Yankees lose and you just walk down the street
- 23:45Speaker 7: and just nobody cares.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Yes.
- 23:46Speaker 7: I have to no matter where I go, there's somebody
- 23:49Speaker 7: that knows I'm a Yankee fan.
- 23:51Speaker 3: I go to the deli. They're like, oh, how about
- 23:53Speaker 3: your Yankees?
- 23:54Speaker 5: Go.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Red Sox. Yes.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Mikey lives in a neighborhood where his neighbor could be
- 23:57Speaker 1: a Red Sox fan, could be a Yankee fan. Every
- 23:59Speaker 1: other house is a Yankee fan, Red Sox fan, Yankee fan,
- 24:02Speaker 1: Red Sox fan. Although people do like to mock the
- 24:05Speaker 1: Yankees nationally.
- 24:07Speaker 3: They do. Doesn't matter.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Like Taylor might walk into a deli in South Florida.
- 24:10Speaker 1: It might be one random.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Guy, you know, Ricardo, who just starts mocking.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Him because the Yankees have lost to the Red Sox.
- 24:17Speaker 3: But you're right. Other than that, no one really cares,
- 24:20Speaker 3: especially down here.
- 24:21Speaker 6: My only pushback here is that calling this series a
- 24:24Speaker 6: lose-lose for the Yankees. Because if you win, you still
- 24:27Speaker 6: move on to the next round.
- 24:28Speaker 3: You're supposed to win. If you win, you did what
- 24:31Speaker 3: you were supposed to do. That's all I say.
- 24:33Speaker 6: Are they really supposed to win? The Yankees are favorites
- 24:36Speaker 6: in this series because it's in the Bronx, but I
- 24:38Speaker 6: don't think the Yankees are supposed to win with their
- 24:41Speaker 6: struggles against lefties.
- 24:43Speaker 8: Yeah, but if you look at their starting who should
- 24:46Speaker 8: be the runaway Cy Young winner, and we're sitting here
- 24:50Speaker 8: worried about Ben Toley or whatever the hell his name is.
- 24:54Speaker 3: It's a lineup full of no names. It's Peyton Toley.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Him too. Yes, Peyton Toley. Him too.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:59Speaker 3: And now we're sitting here, and it's like the.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Red Sox road.
- 25:05Speaker 7: An amazing run in the middle of the summer, but
- 25:08Speaker 7: they've been basically 500 since then.
- 25:10Speaker 3: There's no way the Yankees should lose this series at home.
- 25:14Speaker 7: Right. Starting Cam Schlittler, Max Freed, and your game three
- 25:19Speaker 7: starter just happens to be one of the best pitchers
- 25:22Speaker 7: of the last decade. Like there's no way they should
- 25:25Speaker 7: lose this series.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Garrett Coles, who he's talking about. Most teams would love
- 25:29Speaker 1: to have him as their ace, as their number one starter.
- 25:31Speaker 1: He for the Yankees. Baseball is random. We all know that.
- 25:36Speaker 1: The Yankees are the better team, have been the better
- 25:38Speaker 1: team for the entire season. The Red Sox had their moment.
- 25:41Speaker 1: They had their runs. But Mikey's right. They're kind of
- 25:44Speaker 1: limping into the playoffs here.
- 25:45Speaker 6: Yeah, but even then, the Yankees are minus 170 favorites
- 25:49Speaker 6: to win this series. It's not like they're a minus 400, like,
- 25:53Speaker 6: A massive upset.
- 25:55Speaker 1: No, but they're the favorites. He's just saying winning doesn't,
- 25:57Speaker 1: it's no cause for celebration. If you win, you did
- 26:00Speaker 1: what you were supposed to do. You moved on to
- 26:02Speaker 1: the next round of the playoffs. If you lose, you
- 26:04Speaker 1: get mocked by Red Sox fans who know they don't
- 26:06Speaker 1: have a better team, yet they still beat you.
- 26:08Speaker 3: I mean, so with Mikey.
- 26:11Speaker 1: We had a short fact here that blew us away.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Hockey is starting. Now let's get to a short game
- 26:17Speaker 1: that Taylor has for us before we get.
- 26:20Speaker 3: To Ben Verlander. Oh, there's music.
- 26:23Speaker 6: Yep. Always is.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Of course there is.
- 26:24Speaker 1: By the way, if you want our football thoughts, last
- 26:26Speaker 1: night's game, Stugatz & Company, check it out.
- 26:28Speaker 3: The show before the show. Download, subscribe, rate, review, do
- 26:32Speaker 3: all that good stuff.
- 26:33Speaker 6: So with the baseball playoffs starting today, our two contestants,
- 26:39Speaker 6: Mikey A. and Stugatz, I need you guys to do
- 26:42Speaker 6: one thing for me. The Astros-White Sox game. Name either
- 26:48Speaker 6: starting pitcher.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Wow.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Wow. Astros and White Sox.
- 26:54Speaker 7: Wow.
- 26:55Speaker 3: What a turnaround year for the White Sox. I mean, geez. Postseason.
- 27:02Speaker 6: Also, while you guys are thinking, when Jose Altuve takes
- 27:04Speaker 6: the field today, he will have played in more postseason
- 27:07Speaker 6: games than the entire Mets franchise. Almost impossible.
- 27:14Speaker 3: That's a great stat. That should have been your fact
- 27:17Speaker 3: of the day. So an Asher.
- 27:22Speaker 7: Vargas.
- 27:23Speaker 3: It's a good guess.
- 27:25Speaker 5: No.
- 27:25Speaker 3: No, it's a great guess. I'm trying to think. You
- 27:27Speaker 3: hear Ricardo laughing in the background.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Well, because, yeah, there's probably 15 starting pitchers in the
- 27:31Speaker 1: majors with the last name Vargas.
- 27:34Speaker 3: I played the numbers, man. I played the numbers. Vasquez.
- 27:38Speaker 6: No, Javi Vasquez is not on the White Sox anymore.
- 27:41Speaker 3: He's not. Should be. Contreras.
- 27:44Speaker 6: Jose Contreras is not on the White Sox anymore.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Mark Burley still doing things? Ah, Burley.
- 27:50Speaker 6: No, Mark Burley hung it up.
- 27:51Speaker 3: He's done, huh? Ooh, so an Astro.
- 27:57Speaker 7: Listen, my favorite White Sox is Colston Montgomery because I
- 27:59Speaker 7: love saying his name. He's an English gentleman who hits
- 28:02Speaker 7: home runs.
- 28:03Speaker 3: How about Danks? Wasn't there a pitcher named Danks?
- 28:06Speaker 6: Bobby Danks.
- 28:06Speaker 7: Yes.
- 28:07Speaker 6: No, he's not starting, though.
- 28:08Speaker 3: What?
- 28:09Speaker 6: I think it was a closer.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Janks.
- 28:11Speaker 6: Yeah, Bobby Janks.
- 28:12Speaker 3: No, there was a Danks, too, for the White Sox.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Sure.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Sure there was. Look it up. Back in the day.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Not too long ago.
- 28:19Speaker 6: John Danks.
- 28:19Speaker 3: John Danks. Danksy.
- 28:23Speaker 6: Dank you later.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Take that to the Dank. Smith? Ah, Smith.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Mikey, you got it.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Yes. Hey, playing the numbers. I was going to say Johnson.
- 28:35Speaker 6: The matchup tonight, Hagan Smith takes the bump for the
- 28:39Speaker 6: White Sox at 5 p.m.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Eastern.
- 28:41Speaker 6: Yes. Somebody named A.J. Blueball?
- 28:46Speaker 3: Burnett. AJ Blue Ball.
- 28:48Speaker 1: AJ Burnett.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Pitch for the Marlins. And the Yankees. And the Yankees.
- 28:55Speaker 3: And the Pirates. Yes, and the Pirates.
- 28:57Speaker 7: Really? Yep.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I didn't know that. I had to stop short there
- 29:00Speaker 3: for a second. Small fact of the day right there.
- 29:01Speaker 3: I had no idea. Yeah, there you go. Wait, so
- 29:04Speaker 3: who's the pitcher for... That Mikey got right?
- 29:07Speaker 6: Hagen Smith.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Smith.
- 29:11Speaker 1: How many guesses would I have had to given you
- 29:15Speaker 1: to guess his first name before you got it right,
- 29:17Speaker 1: you think?
- 29:18Speaker 3: Forever? We'd just be guessing forever. I would sneeze and
- 29:22Speaker 3: have a better shot of getting it right. Did you
- 29:25Speaker 3: say Hagen? Bless you.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I was going to guess Justin Verlander.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotts. and
- 29:40Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Pacific.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Taylor, you have to feel vindicated only from this standpoint.
- 29:51Speaker 1: You know tonight is not a must-win game. I understand
- 29:53Speaker 1: you got carried away, but you have to be vindicated
- 29:56Speaker 1: on your Cam Schlittler tape because now everyone is.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Throwing flowers at you.
- 30:00Speaker 1: And I know you were reaching when you made the take,
- 30:01Speaker 1: but I have taught you very, very well. Swing for
- 30:03Speaker 1: the fences, my friend. If you get it right, we'll
- 30:05Speaker 1: celebrate it. And if you don't, no one, and I
- 30:08Speaker 1: mean nobody, will remember the bad take. Congratulations to you.
- 30:12Speaker 6: I love Cam Schluter. He's second in my New York
- 30:15Speaker 6: sports power ranking right now behind only Jalen Brunson.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Oh, wow. I mean, has it changed your life? Can
- 30:21Speaker 3: he catch him?
- 30:21Speaker 10: Yes.
- 30:21Speaker 6: Can he catch Jalen Brunson?
- 30:23Speaker 5: No.
- 30:24Speaker 6: Cam Schluter can win the next five World Series and
- 30:27Speaker 6: be the World Series MVP in every one, and he's
- 30:29Speaker 6: not catching Jalen Brunson.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Really?
- 30:30Speaker 1: Wow.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Just one title. You changed your life. Yeah. Yes.
- 30:33Speaker 1: You have ranked NFL games here. What are you doing
- 30:35Speaker 1: with NFL games here as we finish out the show?
- 30:38Speaker 6: So I have categories for NFL games. I'm going to
- 30:40Speaker 6: say what the game is to me, like if it's
- 30:42Speaker 6: a win now game, a loser leaves town game. And
- 30:45Speaker 6: then you guys can either try to guess what the
- 30:46Speaker 6: game is or I could just explain what the game is.
- 30:49Speaker 3: OK. All right.
- 30:50Speaker 7: All right.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I mean, we should know the categories that we're trying
- 30:54Speaker 1: to guess, right?
- 30:55Speaker 6: I'll say the category.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Oh, you will. OK. So we have to agree or disagree, essentially.
- 31:00Speaker 6: I'm scared for this team's life game.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Scared for this team's life game. Wow. Okay. I'm scared
- 31:08Speaker 3: for their life. Hold on. I got to get the schedule.
- 31:11Speaker 6: Particularly the quarterback.
- 31:14Speaker 3: The Texans.
- 31:15Speaker 5: No.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:17Speaker 7: I would have said the Dolphins.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Mikey A, you nailed it. Mikey A's got the pulse
- 31:22Speaker 6: of the NFL.
- 31:24Speaker 3: The Vikings. They play the Vikings at Flores.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 31:28Speaker 6: First off, you have the Flores revenge game factor where
- 31:31Speaker 6: he's getting the chance to go against the Dolphins. I
- 31:34Speaker 6: don't know about you guys, but Flores seems like a
- 31:36Speaker 6: pretty vindictive person, and I think he's going to want
- 31:38Speaker 6: to try to bury this Dolphins team. And then, Stu,
- 31:42Speaker 6: the Minnesota Vikings blitz at a 71.1% rate. The next
- 31:47Speaker 6: closest is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 46.7%. It would
- 31:52Speaker 6: be the highest blitz rate in a season since at
- 31:54Speaker 6: least 2016.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 31:55Speaker 6: Brian Flores has figured out something in Minnesota just saying,
- 31:59Speaker 6: I've studied quarterbacks to know there aren't enough good quarterbacks
- 32:02Speaker 6: in this league to process the decision-making. So I'm just
- 32:05Speaker 6: going to blitz every time and put them in bad situations.
- 32:08Speaker 6: And if I'm Malik Willis, I'm afraid for Malik Willis'
- 32:10Speaker 6: life this weekend.
- 32:12Speaker 7: If the Vikings go up by enough, does Brian Flores
- 32:15Speaker 7: throw on a helmet just so that he can run.
- 32:17Speaker 3: A blitz too and try and hit somebody? I could
- 32:19Speaker 3: see him doing it.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I think what Brian Flores is trying to figure out
- 32:21Speaker 1: is why the hell he's not the head coach there.
- 32:26Speaker 3: He probably should be. Perhaps that lawsuit against the NFL. Anyway,
- 32:30Speaker 3: next one.
- 32:31Speaker 6: My next game. The pink slip game.
- 32:36Speaker 3: I love a good pink slip. Oh, I got it.
- 32:41Speaker 6: If this coach loses this game, he gets back to
- 32:44Speaker 6: the office Sunday night and there's a pink slip waiting
- 32:47Speaker 6: at his desk.
- 32:49Speaker 3: We're still doing pink slips, huh? Do we still do
- 32:51Speaker 3: pink slips?
- 32:52Speaker 6: That's a great question.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Battle of the bays. Is he right?
- 32:56Speaker 6: It's the Battle of the Bays. Matt LeFleur up against
- 33:00Speaker 6: Todd Bowles. I think this is a loser leaves town.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, you have Todd Bowles getting a pink slip.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I mean, I told you no one has more job
- 33:07Speaker 1: security in the NFL than Todd Bowles.
- 33:10Speaker 6: I think everybody's tired of the Todd Bowles act right now.
- 33:12Speaker 6: Like they see his face on the sideline. It never changes.
- 33:15Speaker 5: Right.
- 33:15Speaker 6: Team stinks. You're in the NFC South. The one shining
- 33:20Speaker 6: grace for this Tampa Bay Bucks team is the fact
- 33:23Speaker 6: that they play in the NFC South and they're only
- 33:24Speaker 6: a game out of it despite not winning a game
- 33:27Speaker 6: yet this season.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Right.
- 33:29Speaker 6: Todd Bowles, like, it's time to either win or get
- 33:33Speaker 6: out that job.
- 33:34Speaker 5: Okay.
- 33:35Speaker 7: I would just say I don't think Todd Bowles is
- 33:37Speaker 7: going to get fired starting an undrafted rookie because his
- 33:41Speaker 7: quarterback is injured.
- 33:42Speaker 3: I don't see that happening.
- 33:43Speaker 7: LeFleur, yes, I could see that happening if he loses
- 33:46Speaker 7: to an undrafted rookie 0-3 Tampa Bay Bucs.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I still can't see LeFleur getting fired in season.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Either of those guys, to be honest with you. Maybe
- 33:56Speaker 3: it's a pink slip down the road game.
- 34:00Speaker 1: I just don't i can't imagine either coach coming back
- 34:03Speaker 1: to their office after that game and there lies a
- 34:06Speaker 1: pink slip because their services are no longer needed i
- 34:10Speaker 1: just i don't see it so.
- 34:11Speaker 6: Who do you think is more likely to get fired
- 34:12Speaker 6: if they lose this game it's got.
- 34:13Speaker 3: To be lafleur LeFleur.
- 34:16Speaker 7: I think Bowles is not getting fired losing a game
- 34:20Speaker 7: with a backup undrafted rookie as his quarterback.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I'm not saying either coach is going to get fired,
- 34:26Speaker 1: but if one does get a pink slip, it's going
- 34:28Speaker 1: to be LeFleur.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Yes. Yes. Next game?
- 34:33Speaker 6: My next game, the last one I have for this week.
- 34:36Speaker 5: Wow.
- 34:37Speaker 6: Prove Yourself game.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Prove Yourself.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Prove yourself oh okay shouldn't every game be a prove
- 34:46Speaker 1: yourself game i mean theoretically you could say it about
- 34:48Speaker 1: any game right.
- 34:50Speaker 6: Theoretically everybody's trying to prove themselves but i got this
- 34:52Speaker 6: one circled as a prove yourself game i think there's
- 34:55Speaker 6: two teams that some people might have questions with one
- 34:58Speaker 6: of these two teams is going to walk out unless
- 35:00Speaker 6: there's a tie feeling a lot more confident about themselves.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Prove it you want to take a shot stew i'm
- 35:07Speaker 1: yeah i got it yeah eagles rams it would be
- 35:10Speaker 1: my prove it game no this so this is a
- 35:12Speaker 1: get right game for both of us now i'm sorry
- 35:14Speaker 1: about that is it chiefs raiders not chiefs raiders wow
- 35:18Speaker 1: that was my next really that's my game of the
- 35:20Speaker 1: week though.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Wow. Bengals Jaguars.
- 35:26Speaker 6: You nailed it.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Yeah. There you go.
- 35:29Speaker 6: I think there's some questions about this Bengals team with
- 35:32Speaker 6: that defensive performance, bringing that Steelers offense back to life.
- 35:36Speaker 6: And then Trevor Lawrence, you guys could say whatever you
- 35:39Speaker 6: want about Trevor Lawrence. And I know you will.
- 35:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:41Speaker 6: He looks like a different quarterback when he plays with
- 35:44Speaker 6: Liam Cone as his head coach, and there might be
- 35:46Speaker 6: something there to think that Trevor Lawrence might finally be
- 35:49Speaker 6: putting it all together this season in Jacksonville with Liam Cone.
- 35:53Speaker 6: I think this is a prove-yourself game.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I would respond to that by saying do it in
- 35:57Speaker 1: the postseason. But you're right, it's a proof of the game.
- 36:06Speaker 3: I'm sorry that I gave away your Game of the
- 36:09Speaker 3: Week Raiders and Chiefs. What do you have for us, Taylor? Imaging.
- 36:16Speaker 2: You know that segment, Talk About It Tuesday, on Hockman, Crowder,
- 36:20Speaker 2: and Solero? This is like that, but bigger and better.
- 36:25Speaker 2: And 48 hours later, this is Think About It Thursday.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Every Thursday, we like to think this is Taylor's attempt
- 36:34Speaker 1: to counter-program a local showdown here in Miami.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Hockman, Solero, and Crowder. Did I get it right? Solano. Oh, man.
- 36:44Speaker 7: Solano.
- 36:45Speaker 3: I tried that time. I actually did.
- 36:48Speaker 6: So I have two hypotheticals. One is to think about
- 36:51Speaker 6: it Thursday. And then I've got one kind of in
- 36:53Speaker 6: the holster because I don't think with your guys' fandom,
- 36:56Speaker 6: it's going to be much to think about.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Okay.
- 36:59Speaker 6: So that's why I have a backup just in case.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Wow. A second in the holster. First time.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Wow.
- 37:03Speaker 3: To really think about it Thursday. Have to think twice.
- 37:08Speaker 6: Your biggest rival wins the next four Super Bowls, but
- 37:13Speaker 6: your team wins the fifth. Do you take that deal? Yes.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I've lived this. Well, hold on a second. I've lived this.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Mikey, hold on. Who's our biggest rival? You're going to
- 37:23Speaker 1: say it's the Patriots. I think it's the Patriots. For
- 37:25Speaker 1: a while, it was the Dolphins.
- 37:26Speaker 6: I think the Dolphins' biggest rival is the Jets. I
- 37:29Speaker 6: think the Jets' biggest rival is the Patriots.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Do you agree with that, Mike? Sure. But for a while,
- 37:36Speaker 3: it was Jet Dolphins.
- 37:37Speaker 1: That was the big rivalry in the AFC East, right?
- 37:40Speaker 7: Okay, so this actually changes it because if I have
- 37:43Speaker 7: to watch four Dolphins Super Bowls, or maybe even worse,
- 37:47Speaker 7: because the only thing we have over the Bills is
- 37:49Speaker 7: we have one Super Bowl and they have none. If
- 37:52Speaker 7: I have to watch them win four.
- 37:54Speaker 3: That's tough. Yeah, I still do it. Yeah, I still
- 37:56Speaker 3: do it. To get one. I still do it. So
- 37:58Speaker 3: the fifth year, we get a Super Bowl. The Jets
- 38:00Speaker 3: win a Super Bowl. You're guaranteed a Super Bowl. We're
- 38:02Speaker 3: guaranteed a Super Bowl.
- 38:03Speaker 6: But you basically have to live through, in this case,
- 38:06Speaker 6: a Josh Allen dynasty. Yes.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Get ready to go to the one in the holster.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I will tell you, I'll watch any team win four
- 38:12Speaker 1: consecutive Super Bowls if you're guaranteeing me that five years
- 38:16Speaker 1: from now, the Jets are winning a Super Bowl.
- 38:18Speaker 6: So I think this is very team dependent. That's why
- 38:20Speaker 6: I knew you guys were going to choose the Super
- 38:22Speaker 6: Bowl if you were the Jets. Like, Realistically, you guys
- 38:25Speaker 6: are not seeing Jet Super Bowls in your lifetime. I
- 38:27Speaker 6: hate to be the bearer of bad news.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Thank you. We've resigned ourselves to that fact. If you would.
- 38:33Speaker 7: Have done this same question 10 years ago and said
- 38:36Speaker 7: five years from now, you'll get to the playoffs, we
- 38:38Speaker 7: still wouldn't.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Wouldn't have done it.
- 38:40Speaker 1: There's no reason for him to throw that in. I mean,
- 38:42Speaker 1: I'm glad that he did, but I mean, he is, listen,
- 38:44Speaker 1: he's on a high right now. The Knicks won a title.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Jalen Brunson has changed his life, and the Yankees are
- 38:49Speaker 1: facing the Rays in the ALCS. Not the DS. He
- 38:53Speaker 1: claimed it's the ALCS. Winner goes to the World Series.
- 38:56Speaker 3: How about that?
- 38:56Speaker 6: So the reason why I think it's mainly team dependent,
- 38:59Speaker 6: like if you're a Patriots fan, you're not signing up
- 39:01Speaker 6: for the Jets winning four Super Bowls in a row,
- 39:04Speaker 6: and then you're getting the fifth with your history. If you're,
- 39:08Speaker 6: let's say... Let's say you're a Commanders fan. Yes. I
- 39:11Speaker 6: don't think the Commanders are signing up for a Cowboys dynasty.
- 39:14Speaker 1: No, but their fan bases have seen their teams win
- 39:17Speaker 1: Super Bowls in their lifetime.
- 39:19Speaker 6: The Commanders, like how long ago was that?
- 39:21Speaker 3: Well, I mean, 80s.
- 39:22Speaker 6: A good majority of their fan base.
- 39:26Speaker 3: That's 40 years ago.
- 39:27Speaker 6: A good majority of their fan base does not know
- 39:29Speaker 6: Super Bowl.
- 39:30Speaker 1: But, Mikey, had we won a Super Bowl in the 80s,
- 39:33Speaker 1: the Jets, I would say no to this question. I
- 39:36Speaker 1: would not want to see the Patriots or the Dolphins
- 39:38Speaker 1: win four straight, you know?
- 39:40Speaker 7: This might surprise you. I wasn't alive for at least
- 39:44Speaker 7: half of the 80s.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I know. Well, I know. So I would take it. OK,
- 39:49Speaker 3: I think the best example.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Do you think Bears fans would take four consecutive Packers
- 39:54Speaker 1: Super Bowls if it meant they were going to win
- 39:56Speaker 1: a Super Bowl guaranteed Super Bowl five years from now?
- 39:59Speaker 6: I don't think they do. Just because you have the
- 40:01Speaker 6: Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams duo and you're more willing to
- 40:06Speaker 6: press your luck saying over the next five years, we
- 40:09Speaker 6: think those two could could win a Super Bowl on
- 40:11Speaker 6: their own without having to put up with. your arch
- 40:14Speaker 6: rival having a dynasty.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Do you think cowboy fans would sit through philadelphia winning
- 40:19Speaker 1: four consecutive super bowls they've sat.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Through enough if it meant they could win one guaranteed.
- 40:24Speaker 6: I think this is the line figuring out what side
- 40:27Speaker 6: cowboys fans would be on right my gut says they
- 40:30Speaker 6: don't want their rivals winning four super bowls even if
- 40:32Speaker 6: it means they're they win one.
- 40:35Speaker 7: I'm not sure any team in the afc north would
- 40:37Speaker 7: take that No, they all hate each other too much.
- 40:40Speaker 7: I think every team in the AFC North hates each
- 40:41Speaker 7: other too much to take that deal.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Like the Ravens, they're not sitting through four Super Bowl
- 40:46Speaker 1: championships by the Steelers, right?
- 40:48Speaker 3: They're not doing it. Whereas I think every team in
- 40:50Speaker 3: the AFC South would be like, yay!
- 40:52Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:53Speaker 3: But the Bengals are kind of benign, right?
- 40:55Speaker 1: I don't think either team, like, do you think the
- 40:56Speaker 1: Ravens Steelers, they would mind watching the Bengals win four
- 40:59Speaker 1: straight if it means they're guaranteed one?
- 41:02Speaker 3: The Bengals?
- 41:03Speaker 6: They all hate each other.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Yes.
- 41:04Speaker 6: They all hate each other.
- 41:05Speaker 3: That division is fueled by hate. Cleveland, too. Yeah. Oh, man.
- 41:09Speaker 3: But you're guaranteed a Super Bowl, Mike. On the other
- 41:12Speaker 3: side of it. I'm taking it.
- 41:13Speaker 5: Right.
- 41:13Speaker 3: I'm taking it.
- 41:14Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 41:14Speaker 3: I'm taking it.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:15Speaker 3: But I'm a Jets fan. Okay. Right. Jets, Lions. We're
- 41:18Speaker 3: the fans.
- 41:19Speaker 7: Browns, maybe.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Yes. Well, that's what I'm saying. Browns, maybe.
- 41:22Speaker 1: The Browns would be okay with it if they had
- 41:24Speaker 1: to watch one of those other three teams win four
- 41:26Speaker 1: consecutive Super Bowls.
- 41:28Speaker 3: And they would win one guaranteed. They would take that
- 41:30Speaker 3: right in that division.
- 41:31Speaker 6: They would.
- 41:32Speaker 3: The Browns. Think about it. I think the Browns are
- 41:34Speaker 3: the only one.
- 41:35Speaker 6: I think the Browns do it reluctantly. What about the
- 41:39Speaker 6: AFC West? Because I don't think the Chiefs do it.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Well, the Chiefs don't do it. The Broncos don't do it.
- 41:45Speaker 1: They've had success. I think the Broncos might do it.
- 41:48Speaker 1: The Chiefs don't do it. They want to win the
- 41:49Speaker 1: fifth in a row. They're not giving away a Super Bowl.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Who does it? Who do you think in the West
- 41:55Speaker 3: does it?
- 41:55Speaker 6: I don't think the Broncos do it.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I don't think the Broncos do it either. They've won
- 42:00Speaker 1: one recently.
- 42:01Speaker 3: They have with Peyton. I want to flip this on Taylor.
- 42:04Speaker 7: Taylor, would you watch four straight Celtics if it meant
- 42:08Speaker 7: you got another Knicks one?
- 42:10Speaker 5: No.
- 42:11Speaker 3: Because he has one.
- 42:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I have one.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Yeah, because you have one. Now that you have one.
- 42:15Speaker 7: If I would have asked you this six months ago,
- 42:18Speaker 7: you're taking that in a second.
- 42:19Speaker 6: If you asked me this last year, I would have said, okay,
- 42:22Speaker 6: I'm mentally prepared for Jason Tatum to become the next
- 42:25Speaker 6: Michael Jordan.
- 42:26Speaker 3: Who's your main rival in the ACC? Would you take
- 42:28Speaker 3: Ford Duke? Ford?
- 42:30Speaker 1: Consecutive Duke basketball championships for one North Carolina guaranteed champion.
- 42:35Speaker 6: This is the easiest one possible. The thought of John
- 42:38Speaker 6: Shire elevating to like Roy Williams coach case status, just
- 42:43Speaker 6: the thought of it makes me want to throw up.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I was going down a football path, but I realized
- 42:46Speaker 3: you have no rivalries.
- 42:47Speaker 6: Yeah, NC State. I wouldn't sign up for college football either.
- 42:51Speaker 3: You wouldn't?
- 42:52Speaker 1: NC State wins four consecutive college football championships and North
- 42:56Speaker 1: Carolina wins the fifth.
- 42:57Speaker 3: You wouldn't take that?
- 42:58Speaker 6: No, because right now I take a lot of pride
- 43:00Speaker 6: in the fact that NC State really has nothing going
- 43:02Speaker 6: for them as a school. So if they won four
- 43:05Speaker 6: national titles all of a sudden and Dave Doran. was
- 43:08Speaker 6: getting into, like, Kirk Cignetti title, saying, like, oh, if
- 43:11Speaker 6: NC State could win in football, anybody could do it. Like,
- 43:14Speaker 6: just the thought of that would repulse me.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Winning four consecutive would make Dave Doran. It would put
- 43:19Speaker 1: him on the Mount Rushmore of college football coaches. Saban, Saban,
- 43:24Speaker 1: Dave Doran.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Yes. Bear Bryant, Saban, insert any name, and Dave Doran.
- 43:32Speaker 6: Probably Cignetti. oh man do any of the nfc south
- 43:41Speaker 6: teams take.
- 43:42Speaker 3: It nfc south because.
- 43:45Speaker 6: I think that is i mean i think the afc
- 43:47Speaker 6: south and the nfc south are basically just like those
- 43:50Speaker 6: two divisions are just mirrors looking at each other um
- 43:54Speaker 6: who in.
- 43:54Speaker 1: That division has won a super bowl the bucks have
- 43:56Speaker 1: won one recently with brady saints have won one yeah
- 43:59Speaker 1: with breeze uh the falcons it's been a wild And
- 44:03Speaker 1: the Panthers have never won one. Yeah, the Falcons have
- 44:05Speaker 1: never won a Super Bowl. So Falcon and Panther fans.
- 44:08Speaker 1: So I think those two would have to take it.
- 44:09Speaker 7: Even though Atlanta hates New Orleans so much, I think they.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Have to take it.
- 44:15Speaker 6: Because right now Atlanta's like one moment from the Super
- 44:19Speaker 6: Bowl is the 28-3.
- 44:21Speaker 3: I would love to ask Bomani. Same. Yes.
- 44:24Speaker 6: Well, Bomani's a Lions fan.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Yeah, but he understands that Falcons fan base. Yes.
- 44:30Speaker 6: True.
- 44:31Speaker 3: He does.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Better than anyone, I feel like. I think Falcons fans
- 44:35Speaker 1: would say no. I think most of them would say
- 44:38Speaker 1: no when I would tell them they're ridiculous.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Like, who cares?
- 44:42Speaker 1: Who cares if your rival wins four consecutive Super Bowls,
- 44:45Speaker 1: as long as you win one and you win the
- 44:47Speaker 1: last one.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Yes. I wouldn't take that as a Yankee fan. Well,
- 44:51Speaker 3: you guys have been watching four years of the Red Sox. Well,
- 44:54Speaker 3: that's different, but you guys won a lot. I mean,
- 44:57Speaker 3: I understand. That's why it's, it matters. The fan base.
- 45:01Speaker 6: I know you guys are coming at this differently as
- 45:03Speaker 6: Jets fans. I think the average fan, we are underselling
- 45:07Speaker 6: like four straight years where your sports season is ruined
- 45:11Speaker 6: because That's like unprecedented torture.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Yeah. What does Ricky Mantle think?
- 45:19Speaker 6: Which do you want him to call?
- 45:21Speaker 1: Israel Gutierrez is in again after another long weekend.
- 45:25Speaker 3: I'm liking this long weekend thing. This every Friday is
- 45:28Speaker 3: working out for you, huh? One day work week.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I love it. We'll talk to Chris Sims coming up
- 45:34Speaker 1: in hour number two. Excited for that.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Izzy, what was your feelings last night?
- 45:39Speaker 1: We were talking earlier about Browns and Steelers, and the
- 45:42Speaker 1: Browns win that game 27-24.
- 45:43Speaker 3: They're 3-1. The team that Miles Garrett.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Left is 3-1, and the team that he joined to
- 45:51Speaker 1: win a Super Bowl is 1-2. That's the NFL. But
- 45:54Speaker 1: we were saying if there's a quarterback that's going to
- 45:58Speaker 1: force us to root for Aaron Rodgers, right? that quarterback
- 46:02Speaker 1: is going to be Deshaun Watson every single time.
- 46:05Speaker 3: And so it's an impressive start for the Browns, 3-1.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Nobody, and I mean nobody, expected them to get off
- 46:12Speaker 1: to a 3-1 start.
- 46:14Speaker 3: But what were your feelings? What are your feelings on
- 46:16Speaker 3: our comments that that is.
- 46:17Speaker 1: The only matchup in which we will root for Aaron
- 46:20Speaker 1: Rodgers because he is unlikable?
- 46:22Speaker 10: I would have thrown in Tua, but those are my
- 46:24Speaker 10: own personal feelings there. It's funny that you say that
- 46:28Speaker 10: because I had the exact opposite thought.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Really?
- 46:31Speaker 10: I said to myself, wow, I'm cheering for the Browns. Now,
- 46:36Speaker 10: they had the most sort of ridiculous start with just
- 46:40Speaker 10: so many dumb penalties yesterday. Where I was like, how
- 46:44Speaker 10: could you like this team? Like, they're just so frustrating.
- 46:46Speaker 10: We already know that nobody really likes, nobody should like
- 46:49Speaker 10: Deshaun Watson, really.
- 46:51Speaker 1: But, man.
- 46:52Speaker 10: Aaron Rodgers is so unlikable, like on the field to
- 46:56Speaker 10: my eyes watching him play. I can't imagine any one
- 46:59Speaker 10: of his teammates, any one of his coaches that say, hey,
- 47:02Speaker 10: that's a good dude right there and gives him a
- 47:04Speaker 10: big old hug.
- 47:05Speaker 3: I mean, you saw the exchange with Mike McCarthy.
- 47:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:07Speaker 10: And I, you know, forever for the rest of time,
- 47:09Speaker 10: he's going to be talking with his hand over his
- 47:11Speaker 10: mouth because he doesn't want to get caught calling Aaron
- 47:14Speaker 10: Rodgers what he called him yesterday.
- 47:16Speaker 3: But Aaron deserves that.
- 47:18Speaker 5: Like.
- 47:18Speaker 10: There have been so many situations in so many games where, yeah,
- 47:22Speaker 10: a coach gets a play call in late, right? But
- 47:25Speaker 10: for him to just be so demonstrative, to look like
- 47:29Speaker 10: such a jerk, to basically put his coaches out there
- 47:31Speaker 10: for everybody to say, hey, his coaches must not be
- 47:34Speaker 10: doing something right.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Look at Aaron. Look how upset he is. It's just
- 47:38Speaker 3: BS to me.
- 47:39Speaker 10: It just makes him seem like he's been in this
- 47:41Speaker 10: league for so long.
- 47:42Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 47:43Speaker 10: And he knows exactly what he's doing. Like, stop doing that.
- 47:46Speaker 10: Stop undermining your coaches. And I found myself cheering hard
- 47:50Speaker 10: for the Cleveland Browns yesterday.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Not for Deshaun Watson. Right.
- 47:53Speaker 10: For the Cleveland Browns. I feel like the Browns fans
- 47:57Speaker 10: have done their job in sort of helping– Deshaun Watson,
- 48:01Speaker 10: helping put him in his place for some, you know,
- 48:03Speaker 10: one way or another.
- 48:04Speaker 3: They've been hard enough on Deshaun Watson.
- 48:06Speaker 10: Not hard enough. They've been hard on him, deservedly so.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 48:09Speaker 10: And so now I feel like I am free to
- 48:11Speaker 10: allow my emotions to carry their own weight and just
- 48:15Speaker 10: hate on Aaron Rodgers. And it's not just what he does,
- 48:18Speaker 10: what he did yesterday, what he does.
- 48:20Speaker 3: On the field.
- 48:21Speaker 10: It's even like the nonsense that he talks off the field.
- 48:23Speaker 10: It's the nonsense that he talks on the McAfee show. Like,
- 48:27Speaker 10: Have you ever met a guy who says stuff about
- 48:29Speaker 10: his exes publicly the way he has done recently where
- 48:33Speaker 10: it's just like, hang on a second. Why are you
- 48:35Speaker 10: talking smack about your ex-girlfriends? Have you ever seen another
- 48:40Speaker 10: quarterback say something I want to look good because I
- 48:43Speaker 10: want my wife to bleep me. It's like, who are
- 48:46Speaker 10: you trying to be? Are you trying to join a fraternity?
- 48:52Speaker 10: Are you 18 years old?
- 48:53Speaker 3: Who is this guy?
- 48:54Speaker 10: And so there's just no element about Aaron Rodgers that
- 48:58Speaker 10: I like. He wants to be this guy who's contrary
- 49:01Speaker 10: to everything. He wants to be this guy who feels
- 49:03Speaker 10: like he knows more than everybody else. And currently, he's
- 49:07Speaker 10: a nothing. He's on a bad team playing quarterback. And
- 49:13Speaker 10: it's just like, I don't think he deserves this license
- 49:16Speaker 10: to be this jerk for this entire time. And so, yeah,
- 49:19Speaker 10: I'm going to cheer. against Aaron Rodgers for the rest
- 49:21Speaker 10: of this season.
- 49:22Speaker 3: Hard. Wow.
- 49:23Speaker 6: Izzy, I want to be very clear because I am
- 49:25Speaker 6: in your camp when it comes to Aaron Rodgers, where
- 49:27Speaker 6: Aaron Rodgers says, once I retire from football, you'll never
- 49:31Speaker 6: hear from me again.
- 49:32Speaker 3: Oh, stop it.
- 49:32Speaker 6: I'm holding him to that promise because.
- 49:36Speaker 3: I'm telling you he's going to break that promise.
- 49:38Speaker 7: Yes.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 49:39Speaker 6: But in defense of Aaron Rodgers last night in the
- 49:42Speaker 6: first half where he has that blow up with Mike McCarthy,
- 49:45Speaker 6: This is now a trend for this Steelers team where
- 49:48Speaker 6: they're having some kind of communication issues and getting him
- 49:51Speaker 6: plays where last week against the Bengals, they had to
- 49:54Speaker 6: burn all three of their timeouts early in the first
- 49:57Speaker 6: half because something is going on with getting the plays
- 50:00Speaker 6: relayed into him. So then I think when it carries
- 50:03Speaker 6: over into Thursday night football, Aaron Rodgers looks at it like,
- 50:06Speaker 6: Hey guys, we knew this was a problem going into
- 50:08Speaker 6: this game. And now the frustration is boiling over into
- 50:12Speaker 6: our next game where we still haven't had the address,
- 50:15Speaker 6: the issues addressed. And also. Mike McCarthy, he just doesn't
- 50:20Speaker 6: look like an innocent guy out there when he's coaching
- 50:23Speaker 6: where he almost has like this confused look on his
- 50:26Speaker 6: face when Aaron Rodgers is barking at him.
- 50:28Speaker 10: But for Aaron, it's all for just public display.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Like, you're a veteran. You're a grown-up.
- 50:35Speaker 10: You're supposed to be a team guy. Like, save that
- 50:37Speaker 10: for the sideline. Save it for the locker room. But
- 50:39Speaker 10: when you're out here on the field doing all this nonsense, like,
- 50:43Speaker 10: you could sort of keep it right here and just
- 50:45Speaker 10: be like, hey, call the play. You know, just give
- 50:47Speaker 10: them some sort of symbol. or signal that says, hey,
- 50:50Speaker 10: hurry up, but not look like such an a-hole doing it.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Just to play the other side of this, I mean,
- 50:55Speaker 1: he did need a play called in. I mean, they're
- 50:58Speaker 1: trying to score, and he's the quarterback, and he wanted
- 51:01Speaker 1: a play.
- 51:01Speaker 10: Right, but this is coming off the heels of him saying,
- 51:04Speaker 10: it all starts with me, and then blaming his coaching staff.
- 51:07Speaker 10: So in that moment, he was just like, let me
- 51:09Speaker 10: make sure everybody knows that my coaching staff is doing
- 51:13Speaker 10: me no favors right now.
- 51:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 51:14Speaker 6: Izzy, is this just an Aaron Rodgers issue, or did
- 51:17Speaker 6: you also have issues with T.J. Watt in the game
- 51:20Speaker 6: where T.J. Watt is getting frustrated with members of the secondary,
- 51:24Speaker 6: and then T.J. Watt takes the headset to talk to
- 51:27Speaker 6: the defensive coordinator to try to get their situation situated? Because, again,
- 51:32Speaker 6: it felt like just a complete mess on that Steelers team.
- 51:36Speaker 6: where everybody's just yelling at everybody when the Browns... I
- 51:40Speaker 6: think they went into that game thinking they were going
- 51:41Speaker 6: to walk over the Browns.
- 51:42Speaker 7: Yes.
- 51:43Speaker 6: And the second the Browns started fighting back, the Steelers
- 51:45Speaker 6: really didn't have any answers.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I mean, Izzy, if you're playing for that team and
- 51:48Speaker 1: the communication is not right and you have a history
- 51:50Speaker 1: of poor communication... And McCarthy does. And that Steelers staff
- 51:54Speaker 1: does because it goes back to last week. You have
- 51:56Speaker 1: to be frustrated if you're not getting the plays called
- 51:59Speaker 1: into you. Like you have to work that out before
- 52:01Speaker 1: the next game. And clearly they did not. And the
- 52:04Speaker 1: players were frustrated by it.
- 52:05Speaker 10: No, to answer your question, Taylor, it's just an Aaron
- 52:08Speaker 10: Rodgers thing for me. And that's fine, by the way.
- 52:11Speaker 10: I will say this, too. We all know who T.J.
- 52:14Speaker 10: Watt's brother is.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Yes, of course.
- 52:16Speaker 10: And what is his, according to you, what is his
- 52:18Speaker 10: big reputation? He's a what guy? He's a me, me,
- 52:21Speaker 10: me guy.
- 52:21Speaker 3: He's a look at me guy.
- 52:22Speaker 10: So TJ might've gotten a little bit of that from
- 52:25Speaker 10: his brother. It might run in the veins.
- 52:27Speaker 3: He learned from big bro. Yes. Can you root for
- 52:31Speaker 3: the Browns without rooting for Deshaun Watson? Great question, man.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Great question. It's so hard.
- 52:38Speaker 10: If he is playing sort of mediocre football, Yes.
- 52:42Speaker 3: Which he is. Then yes.
- 52:44Speaker 10: Right. Because it's not just him carrying them. It's not
- 52:46Speaker 10: like you're saying, phew, Watson got us out of that mess.
- 52:50Speaker 10: He's just, you know, calling the plays and hitting pretty
- 52:53Speaker 10: much wide open guys for the most part. But yeah,
- 52:57Speaker 10: I think the way they're playing now, when it's not
- 53:00Speaker 10: all him doing, you know, carrying them, I think you
- 53:03Speaker 10: can cheer for them.
- 53:04Speaker 1: But you find yourself getting behind the Browns because that
- 53:07Speaker 1: fan base has been.
- 53:08Speaker 3: Through it, right? Right.
- 53:09Speaker 1: And so they have four weeks of feel good here
- 53:11Speaker 1: where they're three in one. They weren't expecting to be
- 53:13Speaker 1: three in one. They don't know what to do. They're conflicted.
- 53:16Speaker 1: They have, they have told us how they feel about
- 53:19Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson, but they care about the Browns more.
- 53:21Speaker 3: They care about themselves more. They are feel good more
- 53:24Speaker 3: and they feel pretty good right now. And they should.
- 53:26Speaker 3: I was pretty shocked.
- 53:27Speaker 10: I'm not normally shocked when announcers drop stats on a broadcast,
- 53:32Speaker 10: mostly because you usually hear these things going into a
- 53:35Speaker 10: game anyway, but I don't, I don't know if I
- 53:37Speaker 10: just hadn't been listening to Brown's conversations, and you can't
- 53:39Speaker 10: blame me if I haven't, but the idea that they
- 53:42Speaker 10: haven't won a division title since the days of Bernie
- 53:46Speaker 10: Kosar was absolutely a jaw-dropping situation for me.
- 53:51Speaker 3: I was just like... That can't be.
- 53:53Speaker 10: Divisions are a nothing story. You can accidentally win a division.
- 53:58Speaker 10: Didn't the Dolphins accidentally win the AFC East one year
- 54:00Speaker 10: with Chad Pennington?
- 54:01Speaker 3: Did they win it that year? They did. Chad Pennington
- 54:03Speaker 3: was the runner-up for MVP. Brady went down with an Achilles.
- 54:05Speaker 10: I believe. And it's a nothing season because they didn't
- 54:08Speaker 10: win a playoff game, but yet they did that. And
- 54:11Speaker 10: yet the Browns are still longtime sufferers.
- 54:13Speaker 3: That one was wild.
- 54:14Speaker 1: The Browns are 3-1 for the first time since 2021.
- 54:16Speaker 3: And if you're talking winning a division.
- 54:21Speaker 1: And the last time was Bernie Kosar.
- 54:23Speaker 3: That has to be like in the 80s, right?
- 54:25Speaker 5: 1989.
- 54:26Speaker 6: When they claimed the AFC Central title. And the Dolphins, Izzy,
- 54:33Speaker 6: you mentioned it.
- 54:33Speaker 3: It was 2008.
- 54:34Speaker 6: Tony Sperano.
- 54:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:36Speaker 1: When's the last time the Jets won their division? Like,
- 54:39Speaker 1: is that the longest streak in the NFL right there?
- 54:41Speaker 3: 2002.
- 54:41Speaker 6: All right. Also, Chad Pennington.
- 54:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:46Speaker 1: That guy's a master of winning divisions. That Dolphin team
- 54:49Speaker 1: was funny. Yes, they won the division. Pennington was great
- 54:52Speaker 1: that season. It took Brady going down, though, for them
- 54:55Speaker 1: to win that division. And the Patriots were still 11
- 54:57Speaker 1: and five with Matt Castle.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it was barely, barely won that division.
- 55:02Speaker 10: Speaking of unlikable, Taylor, I wanted to ask you this
- 55:05Speaker 10: because I don't know if we're going to have much
- 55:06Speaker 10: time to get to it. And frankly, it's a day old.
- 55:09Speaker 10: But how much fun was it beating those particular Red Sox?
- 55:14Speaker 10: And your boy, like, Roman Anthony, nobody likes him because
- 55:16Speaker 10: he didn't play. Wilson Contreras, like, walking around the bases
- 55:19Speaker 10: when he was down. And hopefully I didn't get fooled
- 55:22Speaker 10: by the Internet on this. Were they wearing T-shirts that said,
- 55:25Speaker 10: there's nothing like October? And they got knocked out September 30th.
- 55:30Speaker 3: They were outscored 18-2, I believe.
- 55:31Speaker 10: They were eliminated before October, and they were wearing T-shirts saying,
- 55:35Speaker 10: there's nothing like October.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I hope that was real. There's nothing like an October
- 55:39Speaker 1: when you're off for the entire month.
- 55:41Speaker 6: So the no time like October, Izzy, everybody is wearing
- 55:46Speaker 6: those this postseason. So the Red Sox just got a
- 55:49Speaker 6: little unlucky when their season ended. I'm assuming the Cubs
- 55:52Speaker 6: were also wearing them.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Okay, but have some awareness, all right?
- 55:55Speaker 5: Yes.
- 55:55Speaker 10: If you are potentially going out in two out of
- 55:58Speaker 10: three game series, a three game series, and go out
- 56:01Speaker 10: potentially in two games, don't wear those if it's still September.
- 56:04Speaker 3: If there's a chance you're not making it. Exactly.
- 56:07Speaker 10: Don't wear those until October. Just say, you know what, guys?
- 56:09Speaker 10: We're going to have to go with another slogan because
- 56:11Speaker 10: this one doesn't work for us yet.
- 56:13Speaker 3: Let's go with the October shirts when we make it
- 56:15Speaker 3: to October. Right.
- 56:18Speaker 10: So, yes, I will give that's MLB's fault for doing
- 56:20Speaker 10: that because there were going to be teams that.
- 56:22Speaker 3: Were out before October. Right. But it's such a great
- 56:25Speaker 3: look for the Red Sox.
- 56:27Speaker 1: We do have some great Red Sox sound for you
- 56:29Speaker 1: that we'll play coming up in the next segment to
- 56:30Speaker 1: answer some of your questions that you had for Taylor.
- 56:33Speaker 3: What do you have, Taylor?
- 56:34Speaker 6: Oh, Izzy, I've been floating high ever since the Yankees
- 56:37Speaker 6: knocked out the Red Sox. Just the fashion that they
- 56:40Speaker 6: were able to eliminate them. Like going into the series,
- 56:42Speaker 6: Mikey called it a lose-lose for the Yankees because he
- 56:46Speaker 6: thought the Yankees were so overwhelmingly better than the Red
- 56:49Speaker 6: Sox that if they beat them, it would just be
- 56:51Speaker 6: like ho-hum, like you're supposed to beat them.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 56:54Speaker 6: No, there's always something a little extra about beating the
- 56:56Speaker 6: Boston Red Sox. And there used to be a time
- 56:59Speaker 6: where it felt like the Red Sox had the Yankees
- 57:02Speaker 6: number in the postseason. And the moment it changed was 2004,
- 57:05Speaker 6: where the Red Sox kind of flipped the script on
- 57:08Speaker 6: the Yankees. The past two seasons, the fact that the
- 57:11Speaker 6: Yankees have been the ones that sent the Red Sox
- 57:13Speaker 6: packing in the wildcard series, it's poetic for me.
- 57:17Speaker 3: Izzy, you'll laugh at this. Taylor's trying to get a
- 57:19Speaker 3: ticket for the game. It's in Tampa. It's about a
- 57:22Speaker 3: three and a half, four hour drive. How much are
- 57:24Speaker 3: the tickets going for?
- 57:25Speaker 1: Because I think Taylor was telling me earlier, correct me
- 57:27Speaker 1: if I'm wrong, Taylor, The tickets are more expensive at
- 57:30Speaker 1: the Trop than they are at Yankee Stadium.
- 57:34Speaker 3: What? Is he?
- 57:34Speaker 2: No.
- 57:35Speaker 6: There are so many Yankee fans in Tampa and South
- 57:37Speaker 6: Florida that the tickets are more expensive in Tropicana. It's
- 57:41Speaker 6: like a $ 100 difference right now where I think Game 3,
- 57:44Speaker 6: the get-in price at Yankee Stadium is like $ 100, and
- 57:47Speaker 6: the get-in price at Tropicana is about $ 200. Stu, the
- 57:51Speaker 6: Rays manager, Kevin Cash, he was talking about Game 1
- 57:54Speaker 6: against the Yankees, and he said— It's a.
- 57:56Speaker 3: Great name, by the way. Kevin Cash. Oh, it's awesome.
- 57:58Speaker 3: For these expensive tickets. Yes.
- 58:00Speaker 6: So game one against the Yankees will be the first
- 58:03Speaker 6: sellout at Tropicana Field since he became the manager in 2015.
- 58:07Speaker 3: What?
- 58:08Speaker 6: And he said, I'm really excited to see our fans
- 58:11Speaker 6: fill this place up.
- 58:12Speaker 3: For the first time. I hate to break it all.
- 58:14Speaker 6: It's not his fans.
- 58:15Speaker 7: Right.
- 58:17Speaker 3: It's Yankee fans.
- 58:19Speaker 10: That fits into my personal war with Tampa. The Tampa
- 58:22Speaker 10: doesn't know they're warring with me. But that's absolutely amazing.
- 58:26Speaker 10: I used to think that it was just South Florida
- 58:28Speaker 10: that had all the New York fans. But, yeah, Tampa,
- 58:30Speaker 10: now that you think about it, has so many of them.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Didn't Tampa win a World Series since 2015?
- 58:35Speaker 5: No.
- 58:35Speaker 3: They made it to a World Series?
- 58:37Speaker 6: They've made it to a World Series. I don't remember
- 58:39Speaker 6: the time frame. I believe the Phillies beat them.
- 58:41Speaker 1: All right, but Kevin Cash has won, like, multiple divisions there.
- 58:44Speaker 1: He's never seen the drop packed. I mean, that's odd
- 58:48Speaker 1: to me.
- 58:48Speaker 3: It's not a great park. Oh, it's all. I told
- 58:50Speaker 3: Taylor not to go.
- 58:51Speaker 6: So you are right, Stu. They made the World Series
- 58:54Speaker 6: in 2020. They lost to the Dodgers, the COVID World Series, too.
- 58:57Speaker 6: And then they lost in 2008 to the Phillies.
- 59:00Speaker 1: So through all that, he's yet to see a packed
- 59:02Speaker 1: house at the Trump, right?
- 59:04Speaker 6: Well, 2020 was the COVID one, so I'm sure there weren't.
- 59:06Speaker 3: They weren't allowed to go, right? That's unfortunate. It was
- 59:09Speaker 3: as packed as it could be, literally.
- 59:13Speaker 10: Taylor, when you get there, tell me if you think
- 59:15Speaker 10: everything in that park just looks extra orange.
- 59:19Speaker 6: Have you been to that park?
- 59:20Speaker 10: I mean, it was still a park when I covered, right?
- 59:22Speaker 10: They were playing there in 2000 when I covered the Marlins.
- 59:26Speaker 3: And so, yeah, I remember it very well.
- 59:28Speaker 10: And everything just looks like an odd, it looks like
- 59:30Speaker 10: you're wearing orange sunglasses as you're watching.
- 59:33Speaker 6: So I texted a friend asking, because he lives in Tampa,
- 59:36Speaker 6: and he was asking if I've ever been to the Tropa.
- 59:37Speaker 6: And I said, no. And he goes, it's an absolute dump.
- 59:40Speaker 6: It's like they're playing baseball inside of Chuck E.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Cheese. Enjoy yourself.
- 59:42Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox.
- 59:42Speaker 3: That is 877-99. 99 on Fox.
- 59:49Speaker 10: Small side note, that World Series, the COVID one, was
- 59:52Speaker 10: played in Texas.
- 59:53Speaker 3: In Arlington? Arlington, Texas, yes.
- 59:56Speaker 6: From a Dolphins fan?
- 59:57Speaker 3: Marlins or Yankees?
- 59:59Speaker 1: Let's do, for Ricky Mantle, as a Yankee fan, would
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: he sit through four consecutive Red Sox World Series if
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: it meant the Yankees were going to win one guaranteed?
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Not a chance, Stu. Right. Not a chance.
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: As a lifelong Yankees fan, never.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: All right, now stay there. Now let's ask Ricardo.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Would he be okay if the Mets, let's say, won
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: four consecutive World Series and the Marlins were guaranteed to
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: win the fifth season? No.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: No, I would not like it.
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: But thankfully, that's not even possible.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Were you alive in 03? I mean, do you remember 03? Yeah,
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: I remember 03. Okay.
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: Of course, Beckett going in game six and shutting them
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: out in Yankee Stadium.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Yes, if you weren't alive in 03, that means you're
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: 23 years old, right?
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: Wouldn't be strange, yes. What about from a Dolphins perspective, Ricardo?
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: Would you sign up for four straight Super Bowls from
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: the Jets if it meant the Dolphins won?
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Wow. Because that's a Jets dynasty. I mean, no one
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: wants that.
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: Especially down here in South Florida.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: If you think we're loud and obnoxious without winning anything,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: wait until we win something.
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: That parade in Boca would sweep the streets. So, as
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: much as I would love to see the Dolphins win
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: a Super Bowl, it's this, like you said, the obnoxious
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: Jets fan.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: I can't handle it. I can't handle it. For four years. Yeah,
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: I couldn't handle it when you guys won the AFC championship.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Forget about it.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Four consecutive Jets Super Bowls is a nightmare for every
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: other fan base.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: It is.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I think it's the team in sports that all the
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: other fan bases root for the least.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: They don't want to see it. We're loud.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: We're obnoxious when we're bad. Imagine when we're good, Mikey.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: And not only good, dynasty good.
- 1:01:37Speaker 7: See, I think we would be peak bad, peak obnoxious
- 1:01:41Speaker 7: year one.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: I think after that, it just coasts. All right.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: We thought about that longer than I thought we would
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: think about it, if that makes sense. I'm dying to
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: know what's in the holster. Might be next Thursday. Might
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: not be. I want to know what's in that holster. Mikey,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: do you want to know what's in the holster?
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: I don't want to know what's in the holster. Just
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: give us a little sneak peek. Just something.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Nope.
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: You're starting a team in the NFL, non-quarterback. Who do
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: you pick?
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: That's sports radio.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it is. That's having one in the holster. That's
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: what it is.
