- 1:08Speaker 3: So this is this is this is gonna be. This
- 1:10Speaker 3: is gonna be a classic episode. Man shots first and
- 1:12Speaker 3: foremost shot to my man Chad from eighty five South
- 1:15Speaker 3: shown he he's a real dude. He reached out to
- 1:17Speaker 3: us early on on our journey and just like the
- 1:20Speaker 3: content that he was pointing out, and we connected and
- 1:22Speaker 3: built a solid relationship, and our interview today comes courtesy
- 1:27Speaker 3: of that. So first and foremost, we gotta acknowledge him. So,
- 1:30Speaker 3: Chico Bean, yes, one is.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Not messing up the aesthetics with my with my cell phone.
- 1:36Speaker 2: You're good, you know, I know you gotta you gotta,
- 1:38Speaker 2: you gotta get that in mind. I don't want your
- 1:40Speaker 2: fan base to be like, fuck you think you fucking
- 1:43Speaker 2: up the aesthetics at the table. It's gonna be a classic.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Just wanted to make sure I'm following protocol. That's no,
- 1:50Speaker 2: You're good man.
- 1:51Speaker 3: So yeah, Chico Bean a legend in his own right,
- 1:54Speaker 3: one of the funniest people on earth. You might have
- 1:56Speaker 3: seen wilding out, you might have seen him on eighty
- 1:58Speaker 3: five South Show on tour, you might have seen them
- 2:00Speaker 3: on the podcast eighty five South Show, The Cold this
- 2:02Speaker 3: podcast all over many they tend the game down right now.
- 2:06Speaker 3: And you know he's He's one third of the Magnificent Trio.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Just talented brothers.
- 2:11Speaker 3: So yeah, but this is gonna be a interesting convo.
- 2:13Speaker 3: You know, we never had a comedian on really yeah yeah, yeah, wow,
- 2:17Speaker 3: we never had any well, we had an actor on before,
- 2:19Speaker 3: but I'm gonna say we never had anybody from the
- 2:20Speaker 3: entertainment space, but very few people. We got a lot
- 2:23Speaker 3: of musicians, rappers, stuff like that, but not really.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Do you think that that's more in tune with the
- 2:29Speaker 2: people who subscribe to what you guys do? Do you
- 2:31Speaker 2: think that that's more Nah?
- 2:33Speaker 4: I think it has to do with people seeing it
- 2:35Speaker 4: as just entertainment and if you getting the business part
- 2:37Speaker 4: right right.
- 2:38Speaker 2: So when we.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Came to sit down with y'all, was like, yo, it's
- 2:40Speaker 4: important that these dudes a businessmen, like they smart as hell.
- 2:44Speaker 2: People need to see that.
- 2:45Speaker 5: So and I don't think it.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I don't think it's even thought about too much as
- 2:49Speaker 3: far as like people like because obviously we all know comedians,
- 2:52Speaker 3: we all know entertainers. But I don't think people even
- 2:55Speaker 3: look look at it from that standpoint like we want
- 2:58Speaker 3: to know the back story at this person, like you
- 3:01Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. And that's the same thing I
- 3:02Speaker 3: feel with like artists and even athletes a lot of
- 3:04Speaker 3: times they don't necessarily know, like it's a lot that
- 3:07Speaker 3: went into Lebron becoming Lebron. Almost definitely, they just want
- 3:10Speaker 3: to tune into Game seven.
- 3:13Speaker 2: It's just like entertaining.
- 3:14Speaker 4: But like, yo, no, you're a person, you got a
- 3:15Speaker 4: hell of a story and you grinded your asshole.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Oh yeah, most definitely, most definitely, most definitely, first and foremost,
- 3:21Speaker 3: thank you for joining us, apciate man.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Thank you all for having me. Man, this is a pleasure. Like,
- 3:24Speaker 2: you know, we met in New York. What was it
- 3:27Speaker 2: last year?
- 3:28Speaker 5: Last year?
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yeah, we met in New York at Angela Yee's live podcast,
- 3:32Speaker 2: Salut Angela Yee. Now, we had a conversation and you
- 3:35Speaker 2: know what I mean, we didn't know, you know, we
- 3:37Speaker 2: weren't in tune what you guys were doing at that point.
- 3:40Speaker 2: But after we had the conversation, we tuned in and
- 3:42Speaker 2: was and was really impressed with what we saw, what
- 3:44Speaker 2: you guys were putting out, because it was something that
- 3:46Speaker 2: we never seen before, especially with dudes that look like us.
- 3:49Speaker 2: You know, I appreciate that, I mean a little bit more,
- 3:51Speaker 2: you know, clean cut to the outfit. This is the
- 3:56Speaker 2: nigga off the post for whatever problem that you've ever
- 4:03Speaker 2: seen a black man model and like an outlet, mall
- 4:05Speaker 2: like that nigga there and then him he's slick a
- 4:08Speaker 2: defensive end, but he tried a trick y'all. You know,
- 4:12Speaker 2: we know the back I ain't gonna give it all
- 4:13Speaker 2: the way up. These dudes are very verse, stick with
- 4:17Speaker 2: what they do, you know what I mean? Man?
- 4:19Speaker 3: So yeah, man, but I'm interested in them the backstory
- 4:23Speaker 3: because I feel like there's really no like set school
- 4:25Speaker 3: to become a top comedian, Like you gotta kind of
- 4:28Speaker 3: figure your way out. Some people took the Saturn Night Live.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Some people, you know, go on the corner and tell jokes.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Some people like how is your route coming from DC?
- 4:36Speaker 3: Growing up in DC? Like how did you? Because I
- 4:39Speaker 3: look at like every neighborhood got somebody that is a comedian.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I could tell jokes like you know what I'm saying,
- 4:44Speaker 3: but it's like, how do you turn that into an
- 4:46Speaker 3: actual professional feature family?
- 4:48Speaker 5: So like, how was you able to do that?
- 4:50Speaker 2: Well? Not to go all the way back, but like
- 4:53Speaker 2: I said, I was born and raised in Washington, DC
- 4:55Speaker 2: and my background was really different. You know. My father
- 4:58Speaker 2: was murdered when I was two years old and most
- 5:00Speaker 2: of the male influences in my family were you know,
- 5:04Speaker 2: in the street. So that was a lot of the
- 5:06Speaker 2: influence that I got growing up, and I thought that
- 5:08Speaker 2: that was what my aspirations should be, to be like
- 5:12Speaker 2: the dudes that I looked up to, And for a
- 5:14Speaker 2: while that was my goal. And I've been blessed to
- 5:17Speaker 2: always be good at whatever it is I decided to do.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And in two thousand and two, my uncle, who was,
- 5:26Speaker 2: like I would say, the person who assumed the father role,
- 5:28Speaker 2: the most consistent male that I had ever had, had
- 5:32Speaker 2: got murdered in two thousand and two. So that changed
- 5:35Speaker 2: my perspective a little bit because it scared me real
- 5:37Speaker 2: bad because he was one of those guys that you
- 5:38Speaker 2: see get all the respect and all the love, and
- 5:41Speaker 2: you know, he was like a superhero to me. So
- 5:43Speaker 2: when that happened, it changed my perspective on my you
- 5:46Speaker 2: know route, because I knew that this dude was a
- 5:50Speaker 2: thousand times tougher than I ever could be. Everything that
- 5:52Speaker 2: I know about being stand up and being a man
- 5:54Speaker 2: I really got from him, especially in the space that
- 5:56Speaker 2: I was, you know, aspiring to be a part of.
- 6:00Speaker 2: After he died, I realized that, you know, I dis
- 6:04Speaker 2: ain't the way, so I took some money that I had,
- 6:06Speaker 2: and I've always I started working when I was nine
- 6:08Speaker 2: years old. You know, I've been getting my own money
- 6:10Speaker 2: for a long time. I don't come from a household
- 6:12Speaker 2: where nepotism was prevalent in any way, so I've always
- 6:18Speaker 2: been able to generate my own income, even if it
- 6:21Speaker 2: was just you know, I started out working at the
- 6:23Speaker 2: barbershop brushing people off for dollars as a brush board,
- 6:25Speaker 2: and then I got a job and hold foods as
- 6:27Speaker 2: a bagger. And then you know, even when I jumped
- 6:29Speaker 2: out and started doing the shit that we kind of
- 6:32Speaker 2: all get caught up and when we come from certain environments,
- 6:35Speaker 2: I still always kept a job because I was taught
- 6:37Speaker 2: that you should never have more money than you can
- 6:40Speaker 2: account for if the government come knocking over the door. So,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you know, I worked at DTL and I've just always
- 6:47Speaker 2: been efficient and making my own money. But at that point,
- 6:50Speaker 2: I knew that I had to take a route that
- 6:53Speaker 2: was less traveled for where I come from. So I
- 6:55Speaker 2: took some money and paid for me and my partner
- 6:57Speaker 2: to go on a college tour for all of HBCUs
- 7:00Speaker 2: from DC all the way down to Florida, and honestly
- 7:05Speaker 2: we went to where I ended up going to Winston
- 7:07Speaker 2: Salem State. And the reason I picked the college I
- 7:08Speaker 2: went to is because I seen twenty girls before and
- 7:12Speaker 2: I said, this ain't that bad. I didn't know anything
- 7:15Speaker 2: about college life up until that point because in DC
- 7:18Speaker 2: public schools, they don't you know, they didn't really teach
- 7:21Speaker 2: us about college. They really were just trying to get
- 7:24Speaker 2: us out of school safely, you know what I mean. Really,
- 7:28Speaker 2: we had a very high drop our rate, you know
- 7:29Speaker 2: what I mean. The violence was real bad, and you
- 7:32Speaker 2: know that wasn't you know, I got as counselors weren't
- 7:34Speaker 2: guiding you towards that they were pretty much gotten you
- 7:37Speaker 2: through real life issues. So once I went to Winsalem
- 7:40Speaker 2: State and then I applied to more House, it was
- 7:43Speaker 2: the only two schools that I applied to. Prior to that,
- 7:45Speaker 2: I was just doing enough to make sure that my
- 7:48Speaker 2: mama was satisfied with my schooling. But I knew that
- 7:51Speaker 2: I was always, you know, proficient in whatever I did,
- 7:53Speaker 2: so that when my uncle got killed, I started to
- 7:55Speaker 2: buckle down to get right with the academics. So I
- 7:59Speaker 2: went to more House, was supplied there, didn't get in.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I mean, well, I got in, but I found out
- 8:03Speaker 2: it was a dude school, and I was like, that's
- 8:06Speaker 2: work on where I had no idea.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Oh wait wait wait wait wait wait wait, you applied
- 8:10Speaker 3: for more House and didn't realize it was all.
- 8:12Speaker 2: No because we didn't I didn't know, you know what
- 8:14Speaker 2: I'm saying. They were on fall break when we went.
- 8:17Speaker 2: That was was a fall year, fall break when we
- 8:19Speaker 2: went down there, so the school was closed. So but
- 8:21Speaker 2: I just heard so much prestigious stuff about the school
- 8:25Speaker 2: that I felt like, well, this is somewhere that I
- 8:27Speaker 2: should apply to. And I got in. I did, and
- 8:29Speaker 2: then you know, when I found out it was an
- 8:31Speaker 2: all male school, I was like, Winston, sell them state
- 8:34Speaker 2: it is, you know what I'm saying. So I went
- 8:37Speaker 2: to Winston. You know, I majored in communications radio Television.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I graduated and I went to get a job where
- 8:44Speaker 2: I did an internship at at a news station in
- 8:47Speaker 2: Winston Salem, North Carolina. And they told me I was
- 8:49Speaker 2: gonna be making six dollars and fifty cent an hour
- 8:52Speaker 2: part time. I was like, no, I'm not, just because
- 8:55Speaker 2: of my like I said, my background, I've always been
- 8:58Speaker 2: able to to, you know, get my own in. So
- 9:00Speaker 2: I was like, well, if I'm gonna be I knew
- 9:01Speaker 2: this was the start of my life. The way the
- 9:03Speaker 2: world projects life and what a man is supposed to do,
- 9:06Speaker 2: I knew this was the start of it. So I said, well,
- 9:08Speaker 2: if I'm gonna be pawing, struggling, and then everybody telling
- 9:11Speaker 2: me you don't really have a choice but to be
- 9:13Speaker 2: paorn struggling at the beginning, then I'd rather be poor
- 9:16Speaker 2: and struggling building my own legacy than helping somebody else
- 9:18Speaker 2: that then took that elite Bill did and continue to
- 9:21Speaker 2: Bill did. So I decided to you know, figure it
- 9:24Speaker 2: out and that what that was gonna be. I had
- 9:25Speaker 2: no idea, and my homeboy Jerome saluted my boy Jerome.
- 9:29Speaker 2: He was like, bro, you should do comedy. You should
- 9:30Speaker 2: do comedy, and mind you, I had never been to
- 9:32Speaker 2: a comedy show at this point. I've always, you know,
- 9:35Speaker 2: spoke in front of people. I've never had a stage fright.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I've been speaking in front of people my whole life.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I used to host all of the stuff for my
- 9:41Speaker 2: fraternity when I was in school, and you know, I'm
- 9:44Speaker 2: an outpha. Yeah. So I hosted all of this stuff
- 9:48Speaker 2: for school, and you know, I was a person that
- 9:51Speaker 2: didn't mind getting on stage and was good at it.
- 9:52Speaker 2: So my boy Jerome was like, man, it's a comedy
- 9:55Speaker 2: club in Greensboro, which is about thirty minutes away. We
- 9:58Speaker 2: should go and check it out. They got an open mic.
- 10:00Speaker 2: It was the first and second Thursday of every month.
- 10:03Speaker 2: So that first Thursday we went and watched the show
- 10:06Speaker 2: and I watched this people bomb over and over again,
- 10:09Speaker 2: and I said, well, shit, I can at least give
- 10:10Speaker 2: it a try, you know what I mean. And I
- 10:13Speaker 2: ended up going home that weekend and had a series
- 10:17Speaker 2: of events that kind of made me realize that I
- 10:20Speaker 2: really need to do something that's of value because that
- 10:23Speaker 2: was my first time in one of my father's gravesite
- 10:24Speaker 2: and he didn't have a headstone, and that was a
- 10:26Speaker 2: big part of what made me realize, like, yo, I
- 10:29Speaker 2: can't go out like this. This dude is my father,
- 10:32Speaker 2: but they don't even have a headstone. And luckily for me,
- 10:35Speaker 2: my background has made it to where I could deal
- 10:38Speaker 2: with the reality of things that that's the way it
- 10:40Speaker 2: was always given to me. So when the lady showed
- 10:42Speaker 2: me the grass. My first thought was like, damn, I
- 10:44Speaker 2: hope I put these flowers on the right nigga, because
- 10:46Speaker 2: this is gonna be confusion. And that's truly my thought process.
- 10:51Speaker 2: But when I went home and showed my mom a
- 10:53Speaker 2: paper that they gave me at the graveyard, she immediately
- 10:57Speaker 2: broke down and cried and because they had is information wrong.
- 11:01Speaker 2: And that let me know that even though he didn't
- 11:03Speaker 2: do enough in his life to get a headstone, and
- 11:05Speaker 2: nobody around him that did enough to get him one,
- 11:08Speaker 2: he still had enough impact in love that after all
- 11:11Speaker 2: of these years, it could still make this woman feel
- 11:13Speaker 2: this way. So that means I got a special type
- 11:15Speaker 2: of energy. Even though I've never been given the explanation
- 11:18Speaker 2: of how to manage it, I had to figure out
- 11:20Speaker 2: on my own. At that moment, I kin kind of
- 11:23Speaker 2: confirmed that that's what it was for me. So I
- 11:25Speaker 2: went back down to North Carolina and I went the
- 11:28Speaker 2: next week to the open mic, got on stage there
- 11:30Speaker 2: four minutes. And it may sound crazy, but when I
- 11:33Speaker 2: got off stage, I swear it was like, that's what
- 11:35Speaker 2: I'm supposed to be doing, and I've been doing it
- 11:36Speaker 2: ever since that day.
- 11:37Speaker 4: That's crazy. So like, at what point was it like comedy? Like,
- 11:39Speaker 4: were you the dude in the school that everybody told
- 11:42Speaker 4: Joe's Like.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Nah, I mean that was you know, you come from
- 11:45Speaker 2: certain environments where everybody got jokes, you know what I mean.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I'm from DC, Man and where I come from. Everybody
- 11:51Speaker 2: you had to be able to jone, to be able
- 11:54Speaker 2: to just be outside. So I wouldn't say that I
- 11:57Speaker 2: was the biggest class. I was always well known, but
- 12:00Speaker 2: I don't think I was well known for being funny.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I was just well known for the shit that I
- 12:04Speaker 2: was into, and I was just good at you know.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I was always a dude that had all the new everything,
- 12:08Speaker 2: and you know, everybody knew me for going to get
- 12:11Speaker 2: some money. That was pretty much what I was always
- 12:13Speaker 2: known for, being gonna hustle.
- 12:14Speaker 3: So once you once you decided you wanted to take
- 12:16Speaker 3: it serious, like I guess the next steps is just
- 12:19Speaker 3: comedy clubs?
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah? No, actually no, not really. At that point, I
- 12:23Speaker 2: made a decision, another vital decision as to okay, what
- 12:26Speaker 2: am I gonna do. Am I gonna stay here in
- 12:28Speaker 2: North Carolina where I don't know anybody and I'm forced
- 12:30Speaker 2: to make it work? Or am I gonna go home
- 12:33Speaker 2: to DC where I have a support system, and it
- 12:35Speaker 2: might be a little easier now. At that point, I
- 12:37Speaker 2: had to realize that it was better for me to
- 12:40Speaker 2: stay down there because I didn't want to have to
- 12:42Speaker 2: deal with the repercussions of the failures that come with
- 12:47Speaker 2: entrepreneurship and chasing your own dream like it's one thing
- 12:49Speaker 2: if a stranger say you ain't shit, but if your
- 12:52Speaker 2: mama's looking at you like, baby, you ain't ate again today,
- 12:55Speaker 2: like it may, it affects you a little different. And
- 12:58Speaker 2: I knew my You know, I'm very big on not
- 13:02Speaker 2: caring about what people think about me because I care
- 13:05Speaker 2: so much about the people who matter what they think
- 13:07Speaker 2: of me. So I didn't want to have to deal
- 13:10Speaker 2: with that influence because I knew at that point I
- 13:12Speaker 2: didn't have enough understanding of what the game was to
- 13:14Speaker 2: be able to get through that. I would have probably
- 13:16Speaker 2: quit nine times out of ten, just because that influence
- 13:18Speaker 2: would have made me feel like because I know how
- 13:20Speaker 2: to hustle, so it would have made me feel like, man,
- 13:23Speaker 2: what am I doing?
- 13:24Speaker 3: Man?
- 13:24Speaker 2: I'm broken?
- 13:25Speaker 5: Get it, you know what I mean?
- 13:26Speaker 2: Just get a job or get out here and start
- 13:28Speaker 2: doing something different. So I stayed in North Carolina where
- 13:30Speaker 2: there was no other option. This is what I gotta do.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And I figured, this is not a hot bed of entertainment,
- 13:36Speaker 2: like not too many people are coming to North Carolina
- 13:38Speaker 2: looking for new talent. So I figured if I could
- 13:40Speaker 2: make a name for myself there and make and build
- 13:43Speaker 2: a following there wherever I go, I would have had
- 13:45Speaker 2: that leverage, like I want to work with you, but
- 13:48Speaker 2: I've already shown you what my work is when I
- 13:51Speaker 2: show up. So that was my plan. So I stayed
- 13:53Speaker 2: down and started to just do open mics, and then
- 13:57Speaker 2: I got into a group. It was called NC Comics.
- 13:59Speaker 2: It was a bunch of comedians who just were trying
- 14:01Speaker 2: to They were funny and were trying to figure out
- 14:03Speaker 2: a way. So it's unlike Atlanta. A lot of the
- 14:06Speaker 2: guys that are starting Atlanta, LA and New York, which
- 14:08Speaker 2: are the you know, some of the mechas of comedy,
- 14:10Speaker 2: they already have their infrastructure built. In North Carolina, we
- 14:14Speaker 2: were kind of responsible for building the infrastructure that exists
- 14:17Speaker 2: there now in regards to comedy and people understanding that
- 14:20Speaker 2: there's talent dead. So doing open mics, doing open mics,
- 14:24Speaker 2: and you know, just going to do whatever I can do.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And we ended up starting a group called the Freestyle
- 14:31Speaker 2: Funny Comedy Show, which I have on my Chaine, myself,
- 14:35Speaker 2: Durren Brand during Big Baby Brand who's also cast Memmon
- 14:38Speaker 2: wilding Out was a cast Memon wild'n Out, beat Out
- 14:41Speaker 2: who was a casman Moon wild'n Out, my boy Burpie
- 14:44Speaker 2: who works radio at Charlotte Now, and my boy Drink
- 14:47Speaker 2: who also works radio, and beat Out works one or
- 14:50Speaker 2: two jams too. So we got together in two thousand
- 14:53Speaker 2: and nine, at end of two thousand and nine, going
- 14:55Speaker 2: in twenty ten and started this you know, Freestyle Funny
- 14:58Speaker 2: Comedy troupe. And then and we got to hustling as
- 15:01Speaker 2: a unit, you know, going to different conventions, getting booked
- 15:03Speaker 2: for colleges and doing our own show every third Sunday
- 15:06Speaker 2: of the month, and just hustling, you know, I mean,
- 15:09Speaker 2: building a repertoire of understanding the game. Even though it
- 15:14Speaker 2: wasn't somewhere where it was necessarily respected, we still were
- 15:17Speaker 2: getting our rounds in.
- 15:19Speaker 4: You even from that business standpoint, What was the influence
- 15:22Speaker 4: right like, because I mean after a certain point, how
- 15:25Speaker 4: many comedy tools did you see? I remember seeing like
- 15:26Speaker 4: the Kings of comedy, like and that was the first
- 15:29Speaker 4: comedy tourl but like, did y'all draw the blueprint from
- 15:31Speaker 4: that and said, like, yo, we have enough talent to
- 15:33Speaker 4: do that as well?
- 15:34Speaker 2: Uh No, I think that comes from I think that's
- 15:36Speaker 2: more on us the just the way you feel about
- 15:40Speaker 2: yourself side of the game in regards to what you
- 15:43Speaker 2: feel you possess and what you receive once you present
- 15:46Speaker 2: that to people. Because I can think I'm shit, but
- 15:49Speaker 2: when I get up and present it, if I don't
- 15:51Speaker 2: get that back, it's clear you got some reworking to do.
- 15:54Speaker 2: So I think what came with us is that we
- 15:57Speaker 2: all got together and saw the response, even though it
- 15:59Speaker 2: was just couple of people when it first started. We
- 16:02Speaker 2: saw that people cared about what we were doing enough
- 16:05Speaker 2: to come back again. So I think that's what made
- 16:07Speaker 2: us have the motivation to do it there. But as
- 16:10Speaker 2: far as what gave us the motivation to want to
- 16:12Speaker 2: be comics, that comes from just all different places. Like
- 16:15Speaker 2: I look up to so many different guys. I've always
- 16:18Speaker 2: been a fan of comedy, but I never grew up
- 16:20Speaker 2: like I'm gonna be a comedian, you know, that was
- 16:22Speaker 2: never something that I thought that I would do. But
- 16:24Speaker 2: I've been a student of the game just because you know,
- 16:27Speaker 2: I was influenced by the people around me, and they
- 16:29Speaker 2: watched Deaf Comedy jam My mama had all the tapes,
- 16:32Speaker 2: and you know, my uncles and them used to you know,
- 16:35Speaker 2: the most influential comedian to me is Earthquake, because that's
- 16:39Speaker 2: who I saw the people who I looked up to
- 16:40Speaker 2: laughing at all the time. It's Comedy Central days, all
- 16:44Speaker 2: of that. So I remember we all watched Comedy Central
- 16:47Speaker 2: and you know, watching Duvall do the remix of the
- 16:51Speaker 2: and I know, did my seem strange? And all that.
- 16:55Speaker 2: The Chappelle Show and all of these different influences from
- 16:58Speaker 2: when I was young played in to my influence once
- 17:01Speaker 2: I started being a comedian, and I realized, oh, I
- 17:04Speaker 2: already got this bank of information and material that I've
- 17:07Speaker 2: been influenced by. Now I need to go back and
- 17:09Speaker 2: watch it and analyze it and see what I can
- 17:12Speaker 2: learn and see how I can become better, and see
- 17:15Speaker 2: what I can pick up and the rules of the game.
- 17:17Speaker 2: I read books, I did everything that I can do
- 17:20Speaker 2: to try to build my wealth of information and wealth
- 17:23Speaker 2: of knowledge in regards to the game, so I wouldn't
- 17:25Speaker 2: just be coming in thinking that my talent was just enough. Yeah.
- 17:28Speaker 4: I think a lot of times people just think like
- 17:30Speaker 4: it's just get up there and starting telling Joe's Bloyd.
- 17:32Speaker 4: There's a method to this, like the timing of it,
- 17:34Speaker 4: even becoming a great writer, because I know that's something
- 17:36Speaker 4: that you've become over time.
- 17:38Speaker 2: It's like there's a process to that most definitely. Yeah,
- 17:41Speaker 2: it's definitely a process you learn through. You know, it's
- 17:44Speaker 2: trial and errator, you know what I mean. You get
- 17:46Speaker 2: up there and you know, like my first show, I
- 17:48Speaker 2: did the four minutes and I killed and I was
- 17:51Speaker 2: the shit. Then that next time I came back, I
- 17:54Speaker 2: bombed bad, I mean horribly, And then it's like my
- 17:58Speaker 2: first two experiences were or that, you know what I mean.
- 18:02Speaker 2: So I got the feeling of euphoria that you get,
- 18:05Speaker 2: and then I got the feeling of So I got
- 18:08Speaker 2: that early. So I knew what both of those were
- 18:10Speaker 2: and how to and I just started to teach myself
- 18:12Speaker 2: how to learn from both. So it's all just how
- 18:15Speaker 2: you take in whatever it is it is that you're doing,
- 18:18Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like, especially with comedy because
- 18:21Speaker 2: it's when you're doing stand up, you stand, it's just
- 18:23Speaker 2: you flat foot with a microphone and your perspective being
- 18:26Speaker 2: projected out into a room full of people, and hopefully
- 18:29Speaker 2: your perspective can touch whatever it is that they got
- 18:31Speaker 2: going on something that they may you know, be going
- 18:34Speaker 2: through with something that they may you know, be ashamed of,
- 18:36Speaker 2: and then then thought they were going through a loan
- 18:38Speaker 2: and then they hear you talk about it, it's like, oh,
- 18:40Speaker 2: so you pick up those things through experience. So I
- 18:43Speaker 2: just think it's just you doing it that gets you
- 18:45Speaker 2: to the point where you feel like I'm good at.
- 18:48Speaker 3: What I do because I think that that's like, it's
- 18:50Speaker 3: very important what you said, because it's like for anybody,
- 18:53Speaker 3: you got to study your craft. And it's like it
- 18:56Speaker 3: reminds me of like a boxer, like you know what
- 18:57Speaker 3: I mean, Like Floyd is somebody like they watch hours
- 19:00Speaker 3: of tape, so people, Mike Troy said, they might not
- 19:02Speaker 3: consider like that you're watching literally your out, you're watching
- 19:06Speaker 3: other comedians like watching tape for you know, like if
- 19:09Speaker 3: you athlete and just explain to people how hard it
- 19:13Speaker 3: is to do stand up because I always hear comedians
- 19:15Speaker 3: saying like stand up is the hard because like I
- 19:17Speaker 3: guess there's like comedians that are crazy funny, but they
- 19:20Speaker 3: can't do stand up like every just because you're a
- 19:22Speaker 3: funny comedian doesn't mean you can do stand up Like.
- 19:25Speaker 3: That's like public speaking is already the biggest fear for
- 19:27Speaker 3: most people. Not only are you speaking publicly, but you
- 19:30Speaker 3: got to actually try to make people laugh, which isn't
- 19:33Speaker 3: easy to do, like and you like on an island
- 19:35Speaker 3: by yourself. So like, how is that like nerve rap?
- 19:38Speaker 3: Like how is the vibe on telling stand up jokes?
- 19:41Speaker 6: Uh?
- 19:41Speaker 2: You know, I think that the stand up game is
- 19:43Speaker 2: a little different than any other form of entertainment because
- 19:46Speaker 2: you know, you don't have the the luxury of being repetitive,
- 19:51Speaker 2: you know what I mean. If I make a hit song,
- 19:53Speaker 2: I can perform that song over and over and over
- 19:56Speaker 2: and over again. But if I got to hit joke,
- 19:59Speaker 2: it's only a hit joke till everybody has seen it
- 20:01Speaker 2: and laughed at it. Now I can't show back up
- 20:04Speaker 2: and tell.
- 20:04Speaker 4: You, Joe, because I'm thinking, Like even with songs, by
- 20:06Speaker 4: the time I'm performing it already you.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Already know the words. But if I come and and
- 20:11Speaker 2: and do a and do a show and kill. When
- 20:16Speaker 2: I come to a comedy club and then I come
- 20:17Speaker 2: back and give you the exact same set again, you
- 20:19Speaker 2: donna feel like you wasted your I heard that. Now
- 20:23Speaker 2: there is a switch. There is a switch that gets
- 20:25Speaker 2: flipped when you get to a point in the game
- 20:26Speaker 2: where people start to fall in love with you so
- 20:29Speaker 2: much as they request certain things that you've done. But
- 20:31Speaker 2: that comes after a certain amount of time, you know
- 20:33Speaker 2: what I mean. But at the beginning, it causes you
- 20:36Speaker 2: to be you have to continuously, continuously write. And I
- 20:39Speaker 2: think what makes it so difficult is because people don't
- 20:42Speaker 2: know how to tap into what it is that they're
- 20:43Speaker 2: going through and make it relatable. Like anybody can get
- 20:47Speaker 2: on stage and tell a funny story, but how does
- 20:49Speaker 2: this funny story tie into something that you've been through?
- 20:52Speaker 2: How does what I'm talking about register into some experience
- 20:55Speaker 2: that might be completely different in regards to, you know, logistics,
- 20:59Speaker 2: but the same in regards to the overall aspect of
- 21:03Speaker 2: what happened. Like that's the difficulty of it, because if
- 21:05Speaker 2: I'm sitting here saying, uh, Mike neck loose on his
- 21:09Speaker 2: T shirt, Like Mike got the loose neck on his
- 21:14Speaker 2: T shirt, Like it's you've probably had loose necks on
- 21:17Speaker 2: your T shirt before, But how am I gonna make
- 21:21Speaker 2: this situation relate to when you had your loose neck
- 21:25Speaker 2: and you had one, you know what I mean? Like
- 21:28Speaker 2: all of that counts. So I mean, I'm not come on, Mike,
- 21:33Speaker 2: I'm just using Mike is my man. Mike already left
- 21:37Speaker 2: our podcast and just talking about his polo shirt, so
- 21:40Speaker 2: I would just using you see how I tied it
- 21:41Speaker 2: back in the shirts and the mic and there you go.
- 21:43Speaker 4: You know, I think that makes y'all incredible, man, because
- 21:47Speaker 4: you're super talented at like I'm trying to think like
- 21:49Speaker 4: when you started were you're writing sketches, because now I
- 21:52Speaker 4: feel like what y'all do is like almost it's almost
- 21:55Speaker 4: an impossible test.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Like y'all just do imprompt to comments that we never write.
- 21:59Speaker 2: It's like, yo, like.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Y'all, whatever's happening in the moment, like with you and
- 22:02Speaker 4: LOS and DC when y'all get up on there, it's
- 22:04Speaker 4: like these dudes are freestyling, but it's in the moment, Like,
- 22:07Speaker 4: I don't how difficult is that?
- 22:09Speaker 2: Man? And when you practice to learn that, and that's
- 22:12Speaker 2: the crazy part for us. It's not difficult. That's with
- 22:15Speaker 2: the magic of it. Like we've never said all right,
- 22:19Speaker 2: this is we're gonna do bro Like sometimes we don't
- 22:21Speaker 2: even see each other till we right behind the curtain
- 22:23Speaker 2: for real, because we're all coming from different places. So
- 22:26Speaker 2: it's just a you know, it's kind of like when
- 22:29Speaker 2: you get the recipe right, and when you get that
- 22:32Speaker 2: recipe right, it's going to hit every time. And for us,
- 22:36Speaker 2: it's a natural synergy, like we kind of speak without speaking.
- 22:39Speaker 2: I can look at Loos and know Los can look
- 22:42Speaker 2: at Fly and no Fly can look at me and
- 22:44Speaker 2: no without us having to say anything. So for us
- 22:46Speaker 2: to be able to explain it, it's kind of difficult
- 22:49Speaker 2: because it's really never been done before in that capacity.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Like I don't know why, but you've never really seen
- 22:55Speaker 2: three guys who could go and do their own or
- 22:58Speaker 2: three stars caught up whatever you want to call it,
- 23:01Speaker 2: be on stage at the same time and share that
- 23:04Speaker 2: moment and be able to make it work. So there
- 23:06Speaker 2: was really no blueprint for that for real for us,
- 23:09Speaker 2: so we kind of created it. So it's really nothing
- 23:11Speaker 2: for us to practice because we're doing our shit, Like
- 23:14Speaker 2: and if we was to get up there and try
- 23:15Speaker 2: to do you know, somebody else's then that might require
- 23:19Speaker 2: some rehearsal because it's not natural. But what we do
- 23:22Speaker 2: is so natural that we don't have to really speak
- 23:25Speaker 2: about anything. We get up and we go. You know
- 23:27Speaker 2: what I'm saying, if you watch them clips and it's
- 23:29Speaker 2: still be amazing to us when we watch them back,
- 23:31Speaker 2: because I'll say something like it was a clip we
- 23:33Speaker 2: just put out from the Savannah show a couple of
- 23:36Speaker 2: weeks ago, and Los has said something and I say, yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 2: that shit sounded like make you happy, like a Disney song.
- 23:45Speaker 2: And then Los immediately started singing a Disney song and
- 23:47Speaker 2: we went into a Disney routine about getting our dig suck,
- 23:51Speaker 2: which respectfully with respectfully, I ain't never had a disrespectful
- 23:56Speaker 2: dick suck, but I don't know if I would turn
- 23:58Speaker 2: one down either the side. No, this is not that
- 24:01Speaker 2: type of podcast, but anyway, you know what I mean,
- 24:04Speaker 2: I don't want, like I said, I do not want
- 24:06Speaker 2: to mess up, and I'm not trying to be the
- 24:09Speaker 2: person to come up here and switch your routine around,
- 24:12Speaker 2: you know that type of stuff, Like you can't think
- 24:15Speaker 2: of that, Like nobody would sit around and be like, hey, bro,
- 24:17Speaker 2: let's make up a Disney song about getting our digs
- 24:20Speaker 2: up and if you do, if you do, like it's
- 24:23Speaker 2: just something that you laugh at in the moment, like
- 24:25Speaker 2: that's crazy, but you're not gonna do it. We were
- 24:28Speaker 2: able to do it by just talking, you know what
- 24:29Speaker 2: I mean. So it's just a it's a level of
- 24:32Speaker 2: synergy and magic that happens that really none of us
- 24:35Speaker 2: can't explain or even care to explain. We just blessed
- 24:37Speaker 2: that God chose us to be the guys that present
- 24:39Speaker 2: that to the world.
- 24:40Speaker 3: It's like, it's kind of like kissing styles, Like I
- 24:43Speaker 3: heard them like when they go back and forth and
- 24:45Speaker 3: neither one of them write rhyms, they said, and so
- 24:47Speaker 3: they was like when they get in the studio, they
- 24:49Speaker 3: just know each other. So well, yeah, it's not like
- 24:51Speaker 3: they say like because they know they do like two
- 24:53Speaker 3: bars and then they'll do two bars. So you would
- 24:55Speaker 3: think that it's like all right, I'm gonna say this
- 24:57Speaker 3: and then you're gonna say that.
- 24:58Speaker 5: And they was like, you're just like kissing styles. Have
- 25:02Speaker 5: you with a missing chat?
- 25:03Speaker 2: Like yeah, it's just like I mean, yeah, kiss and styles,
- 25:06Speaker 2: have you with a missing child? You know what I mean?
- 25:08Speaker 2: Bez and Grizzly Groul. It's just that that type of shit,
- 25:11Speaker 2: like that's some ship we'll do, you know what I mean,
- 25:13Speaker 2: Like we do that type of and it's just it's natural,
- 25:16Speaker 2: Like we have never said, all right, bro on the
- 25:20Speaker 2: this show. We're gonna do this now. We all have
- 25:22Speaker 2: things that are interesting and entertaining to us individually that
- 25:25Speaker 2: we all present, you know what I mean, Like I
- 25:27Speaker 2: love the culture, different places and music and and fly
- 25:31Speaker 2: just is wild and just know all the wild shit
- 25:33Speaker 2: and loss. Just the nigga that just has all of
- 25:35Speaker 2: the information like a wealth bank of just shit that
- 25:39Speaker 2: you wouldn't think that the nigga would ever have experienced
- 25:41Speaker 2: that he can just call to and know it like
- 25:43Speaker 2: it just happened yesterday. You know, all of those things
- 25:47Speaker 2: and things that we're all great at and we all
- 25:49Speaker 2: keep those elements involved when we're doing the show. But
- 25:51Speaker 2: it's never something that's practiced or rehearsed. It's just we
- 25:54Speaker 2: get up there and we do what we do. So
- 25:57Speaker 2: let's go back to North Carolina, right small place.
- 26:00Speaker 4: I mean, like you said, it's tough to find a
- 26:02Speaker 4: talent who discovers the talent like who gives you that
- 26:04Speaker 4: big break.
- 26:05Speaker 2: So it's like, now I'm out of here with this comedian.
- 26:07Speaker 2: You know what's crazy. Young lady who I went to
- 26:11Speaker 2: college with named Dolly Bishop. She worked for Nick Cannon.
- 26:16Speaker 2: She was like his assistant at a time, and we
- 26:18Speaker 2: were cool in school and she was working with him
- 26:21Speaker 2: and Nick started, you know, he was doing the radio
- 26:23Speaker 2: show up in New York and he was doing fresh
- 26:26Speaker 2: Faces of comedy, like when he was just doing a
- 26:28Speaker 2: comedy night in Gotham in New York and he was
- 26:32Speaker 2: just presenting new comedians with her having that relationship and
- 26:35Speaker 2: knowing what we were doing. She's from North Carolina and
- 26:38Speaker 2: you know, went to Winston Salem State with us and
- 26:40Speaker 2: knowing that we were down there, you know, creating what
- 26:43Speaker 2: we were creating, and she was like, it would be
- 26:44Speaker 2: dope if you guys was to come up and do
- 26:46Speaker 2: the show. And I went up in the end of
- 26:50Speaker 2: twenty ten and did the show. And that was my
- 26:53Speaker 2: first time meeting Nick. And when I got to the
- 26:56Speaker 2: comedy club, and this is Gotham, this is one of
- 26:58Speaker 2: the big comedy clubs. This is like one of the
- 27:02Speaker 2: New York you know what I mean, It's the mecca
- 27:04Speaker 2: so when I went to the guy who owned the club,
- 27:06Speaker 2: was like, yeah, I don't know who you are, so
- 27:07Speaker 2: you can't curse, can't say the N word, can't talk
- 27:10Speaker 2: about sex and all this, And I'm at that point,
- 27:12Speaker 2: that's all I was talking about. So me being the
- 27:16Speaker 2: person that I am, like, I've never really written jokes down.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I'll just walk around and talk to myself and get
- 27:21Speaker 2: it together. So I was outside walking around talking to
- 27:24Speaker 2: myself and Nick pulled up and seen me outside walking
- 27:26Speaker 2: and talking to myself. To mind you, we in New York,
- 27:29Speaker 2: so that's normal every day New York, so you know everybody, yeah,
- 27:34Speaker 2: walk past you. Just so I'm out there just walking
- 27:36Speaker 2: in circles talking to myself and he pulls up and
- 27:38Speaker 2: sees it. And I didn't even know that he saw me.
- 27:40Speaker 2: But when I went on stage, I did my set
- 27:43Speaker 2: about that day, Like I had to ride the bus
- 27:45Speaker 2: from LaGuardia to my hotel and I had to get
- 27:50Speaker 2: on the bus like the city bus, you know what
- 27:52Speaker 2: I mean. And I got on the bus in Queens
- 27:55Speaker 2: and the first thing I said on stage was like, man,
- 27:56Speaker 2: y'all need to start changing the names of shit around here.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Because I got on the bus and queens and the
- 28:01Speaker 2: Queen is the last thing I saw on that, but
- 28:03Speaker 2: it was, and it just I didn't Occupy Wall Street
- 28:06Speaker 2: was going on, and I told a joke about Occupy
- 28:09Speaker 2: Wall Street. I was like, I can't go down there.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I'll be wasting the people's time because they down there
- 28:13Speaker 2: worrying about the way that Wall Street is, you know,
- 28:16Speaker 2: robbing and pillaging and taking away from the American people.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I'm down there with a sign that says we should
- 28:22Speaker 2: be able to get changed out of ATM machines. You
- 28:24Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Like you don't always need twenty dollars.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Sometimes you just need a dollar eighty seven cent, Like
- 28:29Speaker 2: I shouldn't have to risk on you thirty bucks when
- 28:33Speaker 2: I only need a dollar eighty seven. So I'm doing
- 28:35Speaker 2: all of that on stage, and when you know, I
- 28:37Speaker 2: ended up killing And when I came off stage, Nick
- 28:40Speaker 2: stopped me and was like, Yo, bro, did you just
- 28:42Speaker 2: was you just outside making all that shit up? I
- 28:43Speaker 2: was like yeah. He was like, man, I'm around some
- 28:45Speaker 2: of the best in the game. They can't do what
- 28:46Speaker 2: you just did. Keep working. So that was my first
- 28:49Speaker 2: introduction to the shot. Fast forward a couple of years later,
- 28:53Speaker 2: I see a tweet that Nick says, I'm looking for
- 28:56Speaker 2: new talent. I'm bringing wild'n out back. So I immediately
- 28:59Speaker 2: hit Dolly like yo, this is real and she was
- 29:01Speaker 2: like yeah. I said, well just let me know whatever
- 29:03Speaker 2: that is I need to do, you know what I mean?
- 29:04Speaker 2: And Nick had a syndication, I believe, at a radio
- 29:08Speaker 2: station in North Carolina and Charlotte. So he decided to
- 29:12Speaker 2: do an audition to promote the radio show. And you know,
- 29:16Speaker 2: in conjunction with you know, him being having family ties
- 29:19Speaker 2: in North Carolina, he decided to do one in Charlotte.
- 29:21Speaker 2: So me and my got beat at, got my Saturn
- 29:24Speaker 2: View and drove Yah. Yeah, my Saturn they don't but
- 29:29Speaker 2: they they they motherfuckers from another planet. That got it.
- 29:33Speaker 2: That got me the where I go. So, uh we
- 29:35Speaker 2: drove my Saturn View to the audition. I did the
- 29:38Speaker 2: audition and Nick remember me. He was like, yeah, I
- 29:41Speaker 2: remember you, man, I remember you, the cat from Gotham. Man.
- 29:43Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You did your thing. And
- 29:45Speaker 2: I went in and did the audition and killed the audition,
- 29:49Speaker 2: and uh, that's really where it started right there. So
- 29:52Speaker 2: it came from me being in North Carolina and having
- 29:56Speaker 2: relationships with somebody who also was from North Carolina who
- 29:59Speaker 2: came up to New York and started to establish her
- 30:01Speaker 2: own you know, legacy and everything, and it just kind
- 30:04Speaker 2: of fell into place, you know, that that organic thing
- 30:08Speaker 2: that the universe does when when you make the right
- 30:10Speaker 2: decisions and follow the dreams that you're supposed to follow.
- 30:12Speaker 3: So that's where eighty five South comes from. Obviously you
- 30:14Speaker 3: guys are all.
- 30:15Speaker 2: On well no, no, no, no, no, no, well, yeah, the eighty
- 30:17Speaker 2: five South comes from all of us being Yeah, it
- 30:21Speaker 2: was just a brainchild of Lows like Los always, you know,
- 30:23Speaker 2: because he's our elder in regards to comedy. He's been
- 30:26Speaker 2: doing it longer than me and Fly, and he just
- 30:28Speaker 2: has an understanding of the game, you know what I mean,
- 30:31Speaker 2: because he didn't been in the trenches with it, and
- 30:33Speaker 2: he comes from Atlanta, where, like I said, there was
- 30:36Speaker 2: already infrastructure set up, so he knew certain elements of
- 30:39Speaker 2: the game and knew that, ay man, we gotta we
- 30:43Speaker 2: gotta you know, something gotta share, we gotta do something
- 30:45Speaker 2: that's ours, we gotta do something for us. So it
- 30:47Speaker 2: was always something that he was talking about doing, and
- 30:50Speaker 2: we have conversation. That's something that we do all the time.
- 30:52Speaker 2: We just build and build because conversation is is so
- 30:55Speaker 2: important and that's something that a lot of us as
- 30:57Speaker 2: black men take for granted, like that you to be
- 31:00Speaker 2: illegal for a group of niggas to stand around and
- 31:02Speaker 2: talk to each other, that you can't do that and
- 31:05Speaker 2: share information. So we take pride in that. So we
- 31:08Speaker 2: always building and talking about the things that we can
- 31:11Speaker 2: and will do. Even within us starting to make history
- 31:14Speaker 2: within the space of out, wild'n Out, we still were like,
- 31:17Speaker 2: you know, what else can we do? So once it
- 31:19Speaker 2: kicked off, it was just really loose knowing that with
- 31:22Speaker 2: him having the foresight to know that, man, we got
- 31:24Speaker 2: something different. So we got to figure out a platform
- 31:27Speaker 2: that we can be who we want to be all
- 31:30Speaker 2: the time. Because we can be who we want to
- 31:31Speaker 2: be on wilding Out, But there's still a you know,
- 31:34Speaker 2: terms and conditions that have to be followed in and
- 31:36Speaker 2: a structure that has to be followed that was created
- 31:38Speaker 2: before you, and out of respect for the culture and
- 31:41Speaker 2: everything that goes along with it, you got to follow that.
- 31:43Speaker 2: You can break out of it here and there, and
- 31:46Speaker 2: those moments, you know, create historic moments. But at the
- 31:49Speaker 2: end of the day, it's still a functional structure that
- 31:52Speaker 2: you have to follow. With us, we wanted to be
- 31:55Speaker 2: able to do whatever we wanted to do whenever we
- 31:56Speaker 2: wanted to do it, however we wanted to do it,
- 31:58Speaker 2: And that's really where it came from. If it came
- 32:00Speaker 2: from us being on Wilding Out and then realizing that
- 32:04Speaker 2: this is a springboard. It's giving us a light, it's
- 32:07Speaker 2: putting a light on us. So now people are looking
- 32:09Speaker 2: at us. So what can we give people now that
- 32:12Speaker 2: the light is on us? So I think was just
- 32:14Speaker 2: we give them everything. There's a lot of cast members
- 32:17Speaker 2: from Wilding Out. What was it about y'all three that
- 32:21Speaker 2: made y'all click up and say we can do this together?
- 32:23Speaker 2: Not to say that the other other cast members couldn't have,
- 32:26Speaker 2: but there's something special about the three of y'all. What
- 32:29Speaker 2: wasn't that excluded the others out? Well, I wouldn't even
- 32:32Speaker 2: say it was exclusion. Really, me and Los met before,
- 32:37Speaker 2: way before wild'n Out, Like we met at a college
- 32:39Speaker 2: show at Winster Selton State while I went to school.
- 32:41Speaker 2: We were doing the FFCS and he came down with
- 32:44Speaker 2: Zuman Miller and did a set and we met there.
- 32:47Speaker 2: And then when we ended up doing an audition in
- 32:49Speaker 2: New York for wild'n Out, I didn't know anybody, you
- 32:52Speaker 2: know what I mean, It was a bunch of people there.
- 32:54Speaker 2: But then he walked in and we saw each other,
- 32:57Speaker 2: and then from that moment we didn't been clicked up,
- 33:00Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. And then Fly came in
- 33:01Speaker 2: a couple of years later, but Fly just was like us,
- 33:05Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like we have a certain
- 33:06Speaker 2: type of energy and a certain way we conduct ourselves
- 33:09Speaker 2: that he just was built for, you know what I'm saying. Like,
- 33:13Speaker 2: So when it got started, it got started in Atlanta,
- 33:15Speaker 2: would originally you know, Flying Lows Bend as though they
- 33:19Speaker 2: was located in Atlanta, and then me just being tied
- 33:23Speaker 2: into what we already was doing. It was like I
- 33:25Speaker 2: was calling in on the phone while I'm doing my
- 33:27Speaker 2: FFCS shows, and in North Carolina, I'm calling it on
- 33:31Speaker 2: the phone while they recording mad because they won't let
- 33:34Speaker 2: me know what the studio is, you know what I mean,
- 33:36Speaker 2: Like those type of things we were doing just to
- 33:38Speaker 2: get the you know, just using all of that energy
- 33:41Speaker 2: that we had that we were in the process of
- 33:43Speaker 2: creating to build this up, you know what I mean,
- 33:44Speaker 2: no matter where how we can do it, whatever we
- 33:47Speaker 2: needed to do, we were going to do. So it
- 33:48Speaker 2: really wasn't even an exclusion of anybody else. It was
- 33:51Speaker 2: just that we all ready were clicked up. We already
- 33:54Speaker 2: were you know, had a brother relationship, and then when
- 33:57Speaker 2: it started to and we're all fans of each other.
- 34:00Speaker 2: That's another big thing, you know, not that we're not
- 34:02Speaker 2: fans of the other cast members on wild'n Out, because
- 34:04Speaker 2: we definitely are, but we're all genuinely fans of each other.
- 34:07Speaker 2: And in the eighty five South show is just a
- 34:09Speaker 2: reflection of the ship that we would do anyway. We
- 34:11Speaker 2: would be doing and talking these conversations and tripping and
- 34:16Speaker 2: having fun when it's just us. So why not, you know,
- 34:20Speaker 2: turn some cameras on and let the world see it,
- 34:22Speaker 2: you know what I mean. So that's pretty much where
- 34:24Speaker 2: it came from. It was just, you know, like I said,
- 34:25Speaker 2: this a natural synergy and we always at this point
- 34:29Speaker 2: we genuinely love each other like we brothers, so's it
- 34:34Speaker 2: makes it easy. One of the things that I've learned
- 34:35Speaker 2: about the comedy game is like a lot of niggas
- 34:37Speaker 2: don't fuck with each other. You know, they don't have
- 34:39Speaker 2: real relationships because comedy, like I said, it's an individual sport.
- 34:43Speaker 2: It's like everybody want to be the guy, want to
- 34:45Speaker 2: be the star. So it's very seldom that you That's
- 34:48Speaker 2: probably why you've never seen our format done before, because
- 34:52Speaker 2: it's like everybody wants to be somebody got to be
- 34:56Speaker 2: the guy, you know what I mean. And for us,
- 34:59Speaker 2: it was just that of understanding, Like, bro, I don't
- 35:03Speaker 2: all of us had a perspective that we know what
- 35:06Speaker 2: this do. But I know I think about it like
- 35:09Speaker 2: I don't care what you have. It doesn't matter what
- 35:11Speaker 2: you have. There is nobody on the planet that has
- 35:14Speaker 2: for me. What's for me is for me. And if
- 35:16Speaker 2: I can get with for me while you get with
- 35:18Speaker 2: for you at the same time, then brother, that's dope.
- 35:20Speaker 2: We're good, you know what I mean. So that's always
- 35:23Speaker 2: been our perspective. We don't care nothing about the way
- 35:25Speaker 2: things supposed to go. We're gonna do what we want
- 35:27Speaker 2: to do. That was the point of starting this shit
- 35:29Speaker 2: in the first place, for us to be able to
- 35:30Speaker 2: do whatever we wanted to do.
- 35:31Speaker 3: And I think you bring up a valid point as
- 35:33Speaker 3: far as I think there's an African proverb it's like
- 35:35Speaker 3: you can run fast loan, but you can run far
- 35:38Speaker 3: with a pack of course. So it's like and I
- 35:40Speaker 3: don't think especially Black people, we still struggle with that
- 35:43Speaker 3: as far as like understanding the power in working together.
- 35:47Speaker 3: And it's like, you know, for you guys to actually
- 35:49Speaker 3: do that, it's dope because it's like you said, you
- 35:51Speaker 3: could have started your own thing, yeah, and had you
- 35:54Speaker 3: do this and low stud that and DC just do that.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Y'all still have your individual brands, but it's like together
- 36:01Speaker 3: like the vult.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's three headed monster man, you know what I mean.
- 36:04Speaker 2: And it's just you understand that. You know, like I said,
- 36:08Speaker 2: we build just on in general, and we understand the
- 36:11Speaker 2: transfer of information amongst black men. It's something that has
- 36:15Speaker 2: been strategically kept away from us. Like information is the
- 36:20Speaker 2: biggest weapon that's been used against our people. In my opinion,
- 36:23Speaker 2: it's the information that we've been denied and that has
- 36:26Speaker 2: been you know, kept away from us to where we
- 36:28Speaker 2: don't even have the mind state and a lot of
- 36:31Speaker 2: as a whole to even know where to go to
- 36:33Speaker 2: get it. That's why y'all are so dope because this
- 36:36Speaker 2: is not something that is being taught in the homes
- 36:39Speaker 2: in schools. So where do we go to get this information?
- 36:42Speaker 2: And it's the same way what we do. Like what
- 36:45Speaker 2: we do is showing that man, it don't matter where
- 36:48Speaker 2: you're from, what your background is, what street you from,
- 36:51Speaker 2: what city you from, what your background is, you can
- 36:53Speaker 2: build with your brothers, you know what I mean, And
- 36:55Speaker 2: you can build a legacy while doing it. You can
- 36:57Speaker 2: do something great. Don't be afraid to know rock with
- 37:00Speaker 2: somebody and mind you, there's certain you know, protocols that
- 37:02Speaker 2: need to be taken. You got to have a certain
- 37:04Speaker 2: character and moral and principle. But that's just in life.
- 37:08Speaker 2: So if you see somebody and they possess the morals
- 37:10Speaker 2: and principles and characteristics that you respect and vice versa,
- 37:13Speaker 2: then it's no need for y'all to ever feel like
- 37:15Speaker 2: you can't coexist and build something together, because that's what
- 37:21Speaker 2: we've been lacking. You know what I mean. You just
- 37:22Speaker 2: seen the video that for Real and jay Z put
- 37:25Speaker 2: out and yeah, and just seeing all of the camaraderie.
- 37:30Speaker 2: But in my mind, what linked all of that up
- 37:32Speaker 2: is that all of these people that are black somehow
- 37:36Speaker 2: came together. You know what I mean to make whatever
- 37:39Speaker 2: happen happen. And then now you see it in the video,
- 37:42Speaker 2: like you see how it all ties back in. But
- 37:44Speaker 2: somebody gotta be unafraid to rock with their brother. Now.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Mind you, it's a bunch of hard stories, and there
- 37:51Speaker 2: always will be. That's never gonna stop. It's always gonna be.
- 37:54Speaker 2: For every one success, you're gonna have three hundred. Man,
- 37:57Speaker 2: that nigga took all my goddamn money. Man, you know
- 38:00Speaker 2: what I mean. I thought Mike was cool, man, I
- 38:03Speaker 2: thought I could trust him. Then he came in with
- 38:05Speaker 2: a regular size call, and then I knew shit was
- 38:07Speaker 2: fucked up. So it's always those stories that come. But
- 38:13Speaker 2: you it's all in Life is about perspective and perception.
- 38:17Speaker 2: So it's all in how you view it. If you
- 38:18Speaker 2: choose to focus on the messed up stuff, that's what
- 38:20Speaker 2: you're going to project into your world. If you choose
- 38:23Speaker 2: to focus on the winning and set your mind and
- 38:26Speaker 2: negate all of the you know, blott of that comes
- 38:29Speaker 2: into your mind, and you'll be able to make some
- 38:31Speaker 2: cool stuff happen.
- 38:32Speaker 3: So when you guys were setting up eighty five South,
- 38:35Speaker 3: because I want to cause a lot of times like
- 38:37Speaker 3: entertain this, they get taken advantage of financially right, because
- 38:40Speaker 3: it's like even with.
- 38:41Speaker 5: Like I referenced the story a lot of Fat Joe.
- 38:43Speaker 3: I don't know if you know that story, but like
- 38:45Speaker 3: he went to jail for tax evasion, and the reason
- 38:47Speaker 3: why he went to jail is because his accountant was
- 38:49Speaker 3: paying his bills for him and he never realized that
- 38:53Speaker 3: he wasn't paying his bills and he was actually like
- 38:55Speaker 3: stealing money from him. By the time he actually realized
- 38:57Speaker 3: it was too late, it was too late. He get
- 38:59Speaker 3: paid taxes in two years. And you hear a lot
- 39:01Speaker 3: of stories like Kevin Garnett sueing his financial advisors. So
- 39:04Speaker 3: it's like, you know, a lot of times sports entertainment,
- 39:06Speaker 3: we just taught to just perform and not deal with
- 39:10Speaker 3: the business.
- 39:10Speaker 5: So like, how did you guys coming together?
- 39:13Speaker 3: Is one thing to come together as collective for your talent,
- 39:15Speaker 3: but not only are you doing that, but you built
- 39:17Speaker 3: a business brand as well, So like what was the
- 39:20Speaker 3: did you guys do that together or you had like
- 39:22Speaker 3: outside help to be like all right, this is what
- 39:23Speaker 3: we need now.
- 39:24Speaker 2: It's really it really was just a you know, a
- 39:26Speaker 2: conglomerate of minds that all had the same goal as
- 39:31Speaker 2: you know, Man, we can make this work, you know, Chad, Cat, Joe,
- 39:36Speaker 2: all of us, you know. But one thing I'll say
- 39:38Speaker 2: is Chad is is very meticulous, like with everything, you
- 39:42Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, and he has a you know,
- 39:45Speaker 2: a very very short patience for anything that isn't right
- 39:51Speaker 2: in his mind. And you need that. You need that
- 39:56Speaker 2: because if somebody is dedicated to a goal, and we
- 39:59Speaker 2: all supposed to be dedicated to that goal, I should
- 40:01Speaker 2: be able to send you into the room and everything
- 40:04Speaker 2: that's in my mind out here is being transferred in there.
- 40:07Speaker 2: And Chad, you know, he does that. So that kept
- 40:10Speaker 2: us away from a lot of the mind you we've
- 40:12Speaker 2: been through some financial goals in regards to dealing with
- 40:15Speaker 2: people who didn't have that mind state, but we always
- 40:18Speaker 2: knew that the common goal was the common goal and
- 40:21Speaker 2: keeping that and going through those ups and downs and
- 40:23Speaker 2: learning dealing with different promoters and not getting paid and
- 40:26Speaker 2: trying to figure out how to split the disc that
- 40:29Speaker 2: way and all of those different things. Uh, you know,
- 40:33Speaker 2: can be problems problematic if you're not if you don't
- 40:36Speaker 2: have transparency. Transparency is key, you know, everybody not gonna
- 40:40Speaker 2: have the answers all the time, but I should be
- 40:42Speaker 2: able to look you in your face and say I
- 40:44Speaker 2: don't know, and let's figure it out. But if I'm
- 40:47Speaker 2: trying to trick you into believing I got all the answers,
- 40:49Speaker 2: that's what shit gets messed.
- 40:51Speaker 4: This episode is brought to you by P and C Bank.

- 43:43Speaker 2: because I'm believing, like you said, I'm believing you paying
- 43:45Speaker 2: my bills. I'm believing I'm straight, when in reality, you
- 43:48Speaker 2: don't even know what you're doing or you're robbing me.
- 43:50Speaker 2: So that transparency is key and it gives. And that's
- 43:53Speaker 2: something that I say is very key with us, is transparency, good, bad,
- 43:58Speaker 2: or indifferent. We're going discussing it and chop it up
- 44:01Speaker 2: and we're gonna make it work. So I think that
- 44:03Speaker 2: saved us from a lot of people being able to
- 44:05Speaker 2: take advantage of us because and another thing is, we're
- 44:09Speaker 2: not looking to fulfill your dreams. Were looking to fulfill lives.
- 44:13Speaker 2: So you can't come in and tell us what you
- 44:16Speaker 2: got for us if it don't match what we want
- 44:18Speaker 2: for us. And that's so important because a lot of
- 44:20Speaker 2: people don't have what they want mapped out, you know
- 44:23Speaker 2: what I'm saying, or what the bottom line is mapped out,
- 44:26Speaker 2: so they'll go in and get sold to somebody else's dream,
- 44:29Speaker 2: this big dream of how things are supposed to be
- 44:32Speaker 2: and this and that and all these different, you know,
- 44:34Speaker 2: glamorous lies that they tell you, when in reality, if
- 44:38Speaker 2: you got your own goal in mind, you should be
- 44:41Speaker 2: able to walk into a room and say, this is
- 44:42Speaker 2: what we have, what do you have? And how can
- 44:44Speaker 2: we merge this together and make it bigger? If not,
- 44:47Speaker 2: we'll just keep doing what we're doing over here, because
- 44:49Speaker 2: we already got it in order, and we don't need
- 44:51Speaker 2: you to come in and add your flavor because the
- 44:54Speaker 2: kool aid already got enough sugar water and everything. Over here.
- 44:58Speaker 2: We're not trying to get the kool Aid flavor able
- 45:00Speaker 2: to taste different. We're just trying to get it shipped
- 45:02Speaker 2: to some places that we might not have been able
- 45:04Speaker 2: to get to because we don't have the infrastructure of
- 45:06Speaker 2: connections that you have. But as far as us, that
- 45:10Speaker 2: transparency is so key that we know we got the recipe.
- 45:13Speaker 2: At the end of the day, the recipe is the recipe.
- 45:15Speaker 2: We built that up. So anybody who doesn't fall in
- 45:19Speaker 2: line with that, you know what I mean, God bless you.
- 45:21Speaker 2: But we're gonna keep working the way we're working and
- 45:23Speaker 2: then whatever comes of that will we'll be able to
- 45:25Speaker 2: stand on it and be cool with it. So how's
- 45:27Speaker 2: that work. Are y'all still involved with wowing Out?
- 45:30Speaker 5: No?
- 45:30Speaker 2: Well, nobody's involved, Nigga, you don't watch the news because
- 45:34Speaker 2: I was thinking.
- 45:36Speaker 4: I'm thinking in terms of like prior to all this,
- 45:39Speaker 4: like are they trying to get anything like out of
- 45:43Speaker 4: the conversation, Like y'all are in the same area, So
- 45:45Speaker 4: like y'all branch off in your own independent thing.
- 45:47Speaker 2: It was still going when Well originally started this. Yeah
- 45:52Speaker 2: we did. We did Wilding Out eighty five. We did
- 45:55Speaker 2: an eighty five episode. Oh yeah, yeah, we were able
- 45:59Speaker 2: to do both. You know, one thing I you know,
- 46:01Speaker 2: of the many things that I say about Nick is
- 46:04Speaker 2: that you know, he ain't in your pockets. He not
- 46:07Speaker 2: one of them people that you know. It wasn't no
- 46:09Speaker 2: three to sixty deal. It wasn't like a situation where
- 46:13Speaker 2: I right now, what y'all got going on? I need
- 46:15Speaker 2: some of that. Don't nobody know you if it wasn't
- 46:17Speaker 2: for me, you know what I'm saying, Like, it's not,
- 46:19Speaker 2: it's not you know, he don't. He didn't run his
- 46:21Speaker 2: situation like dollar Bill ran the Players Club, Like it
- 46:24Speaker 2: wasn't that. So we were able to do everything that
- 46:27Speaker 2: we were able to do while Wilder and I was
- 46:29Speaker 2: still running, and we were going to continue to be
- 46:31Speaker 2: able to do it if it was still running.
- 46:34Speaker 3: That solid he feel about because like we see the
- 46:36Speaker 3: music business and it's like before the nineties, you had
- 46:39Speaker 3: to sign to a major record label to get on right,
- 46:42Speaker 3: But now you got artists that's getting hot on TikTok
- 46:44Speaker 3: and getting hot on YouTube, and the climate is changing.
- 46:48Speaker 3: So for for like up and coming comedians, is it
- 46:51Speaker 3: just because it's like before I guess you had to
- 46:53Speaker 3: go through like Saturn Nite Live or Death Comedy Jam
- 46:55Speaker 3: or it's like I feel like you had to be
- 46:57Speaker 3: on television, but now you got YouTube, but y'all be
- 46:59Speaker 3: in like a million use on average on your YouTube.
- 47:01Speaker 3: And it's like comedians is getting hot on Instagram. There's
- 47:04Speaker 3: a bunch of Instagram comedians shiggy.
- 47:06Speaker 2: And yeah of course and respect all them guys. Like
- 47:09Speaker 2: it's just a difference, you know, it's it's progression, you
- 47:13Speaker 2: know what I mean. The world is going to continue
- 47:15Speaker 2: to turn whether you're on it or not, and change
- 47:17Speaker 2: comes with that. Like I think I was in the
- 47:19Speaker 2: last I started in O eight, so I think I
- 47:21Speaker 2: was in that last generation of comedians who started on stage.
- 47:25Speaker 2: All the comedians now start on their phone. But that's
- 47:28Speaker 2: just the way it works. It's no different than when
- 47:30Speaker 2: you was able to walk through the airport without going
- 47:32Speaker 2: through getting button neckerd damn near to get on a plane.
- 47:34Speaker 2: That existed at a point, but then something happened and
- 47:37Speaker 2: it wasn't like that no more. So. It's the same
- 47:39Speaker 2: way the Internet came and it changed the format of
- 47:41Speaker 2: how entertainment is consumed. The average attention span is between
- 47:45Speaker 2: fifteen and sixty seconds now, where before it was thirty minutes.
- 47:49Speaker 2: We grew up in increments of thirty minutes, Like you
- 47:53Speaker 2: would sit down for thirty minutes and watch Martin and
- 47:56Speaker 2: commercials and you know what I mean, Like it just
- 47:58Speaker 2: the way. It's all in how you consume information. And
- 48:00Speaker 2: eventually this will be outdated and it'll be something else.
- 48:04Speaker 2: So it's just the transition. Now. The hard part is
- 48:08Speaker 2: when you come from a certain time and then you
- 48:12Speaker 2: have to transition with the change. That can become difficult
- 48:15Speaker 2: for a lot of people because a lot of guys,
- 48:17Speaker 2: a lot of the older guys don't have any respect
- 48:20Speaker 2: for the Instagram comedians because they started on their phone.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Like getting hot on your phone is easy. Like if
- 48:26Speaker 2: it's easy, you should be able to do it because
- 48:28Speaker 2: it's clear you funny, you've been doing stand up killing
- 48:30Speaker 2: on stages for twenty years. Why can't you do the
- 48:33Speaker 2: same thing on here? Because it's the grind is the grind.
- 48:36Speaker 2: You can't cheat the game. You're gonna have to figure
- 48:38Speaker 2: it out now, mind you. There's you know, intricacies in
- 48:41Speaker 2: regards to comedy, because stand up comedy is an everlasting
- 48:47Speaker 2: art form. It's never gonna go anywhere. People are always
- 48:49Speaker 2: gonna want to see. It's one of the oldest you know,
- 48:52Speaker 2: the court just and all of that, and the you know, village, idiot,
- 48:56Speaker 2: whatever you want to call it. It's always been there.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Just like music, It's one of those things that will
- 49:01Speaker 2: always be around. So somebody's gonna figure out a way
- 49:05Speaker 2: to get it out there so it can be consumed.
- 49:07Speaker 2: And if you can figure out a way to do
- 49:09Speaker 2: that within the structure of how it works at that time,
- 49:12Speaker 2: then you're good. So at that time when it was
- 49:13Speaker 2: Saturday Light Live and Death Comedy Jam, that was the grind,
- 49:17Speaker 2: the grind was going and doing a hundred dates until
- 49:20Speaker 2: Somebody See You and all of that now is getting
- 49:23Speaker 2: a million views on the video, getting the shade room
- 49:25Speaker 2: to post, you getting the you know a world star whatever.
- 49:29Speaker 2: I mean, not for getting knocked out, but you know,
- 49:31Speaker 2: just just any platform that did. Because I don't just
- 49:34Speaker 2: want to say that and be like Nigga, all I
- 49:36Speaker 2: gotta do is you know a world star, bro, I'm
- 49:38Speaker 2: gonna make it. I'm gonna go knock somebody out today.
- 49:40Speaker 2: That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying any platform that has,
- 49:43Speaker 2: you know, became large within the structure of the way
- 49:46Speaker 2: information and content is consumed now with the fifteen to
- 49:49Speaker 2: sixty second model, if you can get on and put
- 49:52Speaker 2: on through there, or get somebody who's popping on here
- 49:55Speaker 2: to post you or show you some love. That's just
- 49:57Speaker 2: as difficult as it was to to get on, but
- 50:01Speaker 2: it just happens a lot faster, you know what I mean.
- 50:03Speaker 2: It's just as difficult to make it happen, but once
- 50:05Speaker 2: it happens. Now, you know, if you got on Death
- 50:08Speaker 2: Comedy Jam, you had to wait for the shit to
- 50:10Speaker 2: get filmed. Then you had to just like when Wilder'nout
- 50:12Speaker 2: came on. We shot the first season of wild'n Out
- 50:14Speaker 2: in January. It didn't come on till July, so that
- 50:18Speaker 2: whole time we didn't did all this promo saying we're
- 50:21Speaker 2: gonna be on TV, and then people are like, nig
- 50:23Speaker 2: you sure you gonna tell you not to trust that.
- 50:26Speaker 2: We don't know, So we didn't know until it came on,
- 50:29Speaker 2: so that that gratification took a long time. And that's
- 50:34Speaker 2: the old model, you know what I mean. You get
- 50:35Speaker 2: on TV and then it ain't came on until it
- 50:38Speaker 2: came on. Until you see it on the TV, it
- 50:40Speaker 2: ain't edge yet. So there's still a chance that until
- 50:43Speaker 2: you see it come on that screen, that it won't
- 50:45Speaker 2: happen With this is instant. Oh man, such and such
- 50:48Speaker 2: as posted my video. There's no way you can deny
- 50:51Speaker 2: that it's right there. So it's just that when it happens,
- 50:54Speaker 2: it goes a lot faster, but it's still just as
- 50:57Speaker 2: difficult to get going as it was back then.
- 51:00Speaker 4: So in the time, like y'all were killing it right,
- 51:03Speaker 4: y'all were going on your tours throughout the country, and
- 51:06Speaker 4: then COVID happened.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Yeah, how did y'all pivot during this time? I mean,
- 51:11Speaker 2: that's what I'm saying. We've been blessed to build the
- 51:13Speaker 2: platform to where we, you know, can do what we
- 51:16Speaker 2: want to do, so we can still feed our audience
- 51:18Speaker 2: the way that we feed our audience. We just can't
- 51:20Speaker 2: go touch the people, now, you know what I'm saying.
- 51:23Speaker 2: That's the only difference. Now mind you did that hurt?
- 51:28Speaker 2: Oh my god, Oh my god, I'm talking about I mean, listen,
- 51:33Speaker 2: if you think the neck on his T shirt is loose,
- 51:38Speaker 2: our jaws was like, hall my god, because we had
- 51:42Speaker 2: what you liked and fifty dates, just eighty five dates
- 51:47Speaker 2: all sold out, just fifty dates, Like you know what
- 51:49Speaker 2: I mean that we already had not including our own
- 51:52Speaker 2: individual stand up dates like I went. I did my
- 51:55Speaker 2: last live show March eighth in Nashville and they had
- 51:58Speaker 2: just had a tornado come. So I did you know
- 52:01Speaker 2: a bunch of giveback for the people in Nashville because they,
- 52:04Speaker 2: you know, a lot of us were affected by that tornado.
- 52:06Speaker 2: I flew to La. I was supposed to have a
- 52:08Speaker 2: couple of meetings. Both the meetings got canceled because stuff
- 52:12Speaker 2: was shutting down. This when they was acting like LA
- 52:14Speaker 2: was like ground zero when it first kicked off. So
- 52:17Speaker 2: I catch a red eye from LA back to Charlotte.
- 52:20Speaker 2: By the time I landed from LA to Charlotte, all
- 52:22Speaker 2: my shows was canceled or postponed through August. This is March,
- 52:27Speaker 2: so just like that, And that comes from you know,
- 52:30Speaker 2: I think that that is another blessing, just of having
- 52:33Speaker 2: some sort of financial literacy and understanding. Like me, I'm
- 52:37Speaker 2: so good with opinions and not caring about what people
- 52:41Speaker 2: think about me. I lived in my college apartment for
- 52:45Speaker 2: four seasons of me being on TV and didn't cares
- 52:50Speaker 2: drove the sad of view until it just was like,
- 52:52Speaker 2: br come on, but I'm done. It's old with I
- 52:55Speaker 2: had three hundred thousand miles on that car when I
- 52:58Speaker 2: traded it in three hundred. Well, yeah, if that's what
- 53:04Speaker 2: you want to call it, like that, that's what you
- 53:07Speaker 2: want to call it. Honestly, when I tell you that story,
- 53:09Speaker 2: like when when I when I went to trade it in,
- 53:12Speaker 2: I ended up getting a Cadillac. That was the first
- 53:14Speaker 2: car got after I. After I traded it in and
- 53:17Speaker 2: I went to trade it in and dude went in,
- 53:20Speaker 2: you know, they sold me my car, came back out
- 53:22Speaker 2: and was like, hey, man, you can't find nobody you
- 53:28Speaker 2: can bless with this. Man, all I'm gonna be able
- 53:32Speaker 2: to give you is five for it. I'm like five hundred.
- 53:35Speaker 2: He was like, Nah, a five, bro, that's all I
- 53:37Speaker 2: was able to give you for it. It was like that.
- 53:41Speaker 2: But that's the thing, like I was cool with that.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I was cool with that. I was just like, you
- 53:45Speaker 2: know what, it's whatever you want to do, whatever you
- 53:48Speaker 2: can get me for it, give it to me, even
- 53:50Speaker 2: if it's just pay for my tag. That's what my
- 53:52Speaker 2: sad review did pay for my tags on my Cadillac.
- 53:55Speaker 2: But it got me to a point where and by
- 53:58Speaker 2: the time I got the Cadillac, I could a guy
- 54:00Speaker 2: in it three Because that's just my financial model that
- 54:04Speaker 2: just comes from where I come from the way I
- 54:06Speaker 2: was taught. Don't buy nothing unless you can buy it
- 54:08Speaker 2: three times. If you can't buy it three times in
- 54:10Speaker 2: full cash, you can't afford it. That's just the way
- 54:13Speaker 2: I was taught. So I stayed in my college department,
- 54:17Speaker 2: paying five hundred dollars a month and just save money
- 54:20Speaker 2: and didn't care that people were like, how you on TV?
- 54:23Speaker 2: Still living here? I'm like, how you living here? In
- 54:26Speaker 2: my business? Care what you think? You know what I mean?
- 54:29Speaker 2: And I didn't move until it got to a point
- 54:31Speaker 2: where it was just like my fame reached the level
- 54:34Speaker 2: to where I can't be over here. It became a liability,
- 54:37Speaker 2: you know what I mean. It was an asset. At first,
- 54:39Speaker 2: it was an asset. Being able to write it was
- 54:43Speaker 2: an ass Yeah. Yeah, it was an asset at first
- 54:46Speaker 2: when I was still building it up. But then when
- 54:48Speaker 2: it started to you know, I started to get that recognition.
- 54:51Speaker 2: And I'm coming in from off a road trip two
- 54:53Speaker 2: three o'clock in the morning and the niggas is coming
- 54:55Speaker 2: out of the house. I told you live around here,
- 54:57Speaker 2: keep my money. It's like, all right, it's time to
- 54:59Speaker 2: move now. And I didn't until then. So just having
- 55:02Speaker 2: that model, that personal business model that I always had
- 55:06Speaker 2: has saved me during this time, because if I didn't
- 55:13Speaker 2: have that mentality and I was, you know, just one
- 55:17Speaker 2: of them guys that had to meet the expectation, keep
- 55:20Speaker 2: up with the Joneses, as they say, meet the expectations
- 55:22Speaker 2: of societal norms for somebody who's made it, then I
- 55:26Speaker 2: would be sick right now because that means I have
- 55:30Speaker 2: been trying to impress people who don't really care about
- 55:34Speaker 2: what I got going on. And because I had the
- 55:36Speaker 2: opposite of that. Now, even though all of this money
- 55:39Speaker 2: that we've lost or that was left on the table,
- 55:42Speaker 2: because you can't lose what you never had, but the
- 55:44Speaker 2: money that was left on the table, it's like we
- 55:46Speaker 2: can really get motivated by that, Like bruh, we had
- 55:51Speaker 2: the potential to do this, then that means we got
- 55:53Speaker 2: the potential to do triple this, you know what I mean.
- 55:56Speaker 2: And that's what COVID really has taught us. It's like
- 55:58Speaker 2: we got the potential to really go even further than
- 56:02Speaker 2: what it is that we would and in fifty like
- 56:08Speaker 2: now we realize we could have had one hundred dates.
- 56:11Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying we could have had a hundred.
- 56:14Speaker 2: So it's like it opened my eyes to you know,
- 56:17Speaker 2: cause it's a lot of people who are not gonna
- 56:18Speaker 2: come out of this. This is the shift. Twenty twenty
- 56:21Speaker 2: is the shift. The shift is happening. If you're confused
- 56:25Speaker 2: about it, don't be. The shift is happening. The things
- 56:28Speaker 2: that were normal and that were on top and that
- 56:30Speaker 2: was cool before, it's not going to be that way
- 56:33Speaker 2: after this is all over. Because you can just see
- 56:36Speaker 2: the way the world works, how things that we never
- 56:40Speaker 2: thought could be taken away were stripped this year, like
- 56:43Speaker 2: stuff that you I mean, the NBA got canceled for
- 56:46Speaker 2: a minute, and school that they got furloughed from school,
- 56:50Speaker 2: like I didn't even think that was possible, Like things
- 56:52Speaker 2: if somebody would have showed you a list of happenings
- 56:56Speaker 2: in twenty twenty in December of twenty nineteen, you the thought, man,
- 57:01Speaker 2: get your fuck out of here, and they get out
- 57:05Speaker 2: of here. What you're smoking? You know what I mean,
- 57:07Speaker 2: that's impossible. It's not possible. So the fact that all
- 57:11Speaker 2: of those things have happened this year shows you that
- 57:14Speaker 2: you're not in control of the stuff that you try
- 57:16Speaker 2: to control. You're only in control of what you can control.
- 57:19Speaker 2: And when you realize that, you get to the point
- 57:22Speaker 2: of no matter what we lost, we wasn't that wasn't
- 57:27Speaker 2: that didn't define who we were. That was just a
- 57:29Speaker 2: process of what we were. This was a result of
- 57:33Speaker 2: us being who we are. So therefore we got just
- 57:36Speaker 2: as much now even though the world has shifted, we
- 57:40Speaker 2: have just as much power to move with the shift
- 57:44Speaker 2: as anything else, just like the world wonna move with
- 57:47Speaker 2: the shifts. That's the reason why my head is like this,
- 57:49Speaker 2: like why I got corn rolls now, because it's just idea,
- 57:53Speaker 2: it's just it just it just is its representative of
- 57:59Speaker 2: I'm not restrict to what your image of me is.
- 58:02Speaker 2: I'm not I'll never be restricted to what anybody's image
- 58:06Speaker 2: of me is because when I look in the mirror,
- 58:09Speaker 2: I love what I see, no matter what fact. And
- 58:13Speaker 2: that's what is going on in twenty twenty now, Like
- 58:15Speaker 2: we've all been restricted to the things that were stripped
- 58:19Speaker 2: of us this year. Everybody, like to the point where.
- 58:22Speaker 8: You're like, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna do this,
- 58:24Speaker 8: and you mean I can't do this, and I gotta
- 58:26Speaker 8: wear a mask and this that and the third and
- 58:28Speaker 8: it's sickening to people because you've been restricted to thinking
- 58:32Speaker 8: that those things were yours.
- 58:34Speaker 2: But nothing is yours, but what's yours? And it's just
- 58:37Speaker 2: a representation. This shit is mine. It's wherever it don't
- 58:40Speaker 2: grow cool, but where it do is mine. So I'm
- 58:43Speaker 2: just gonna show you that it's possible to do whatever
- 58:46Speaker 2: you want to do no matter what's going on. You
- 58:48Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 58:48Speaker 3: You bring up a good point, especially for entertainers. It's
- 58:51Speaker 3: like I think Rowdy Rich has said Snoop meek Mill
- 58:54Speaker 3: Tolton once like save your money and your money will
- 58:57Speaker 3: save you. And it's like a lot of times you
- 58:59Speaker 3: make money as it entertained, and it's like you think
- 59:01Speaker 3: it's it's never going to stop until it stops, and
- 59:04Speaker 3: then it's like now you know what I'm saying. It's like, oh,
- 59:07Speaker 3: and another thing is that you guys already had different avenues,
- 59:11Speaker 3: so it's like you're not just relying on one thing.
- 59:13Speaker 2: Yeah you know what I mean, Well, we're not gonna
- 59:15Speaker 2: talk about how many avenues that.
- 59:19Speaker 3: At the same point, it's not like if you was
- 59:21Speaker 3: only doing live shows, you'd.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Be yeah, no, right, yeah, we was only doing anything,
- 59:25Speaker 2: we be screwed. But you know, and I may not
- 59:27Speaker 2: even gonna say we be screwed, because all of us are.
- 59:30Speaker 2: You know, we talk about these things. We had these conversations,
- 59:33Speaker 2: and you know, I speak about Chad a lot, you
- 59:36Speaker 2: know when we talk about the business aspect of it.
- 59:39Speaker 2: Chad is Chad like and that's one of the main
- 59:42Speaker 2: things that I respect about him. Like he's going to
- 59:44Speaker 2: be the same dude all the time. And there's a
- 59:47Speaker 2: twenty twenty teaches you the importance of having that characteristic
- 59:51Speaker 2: because what you allow to change your you know, natural
- 59:56Speaker 2: being and who you are determines who you are because
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: the things that can come in and affect you like
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: you know being Like you know what I'm saying, I've
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: been picking on Mike the whole time, and I can
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: see him adjusting his collar, but you keep putting it
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: over your mouth, Slim, That's what's causing it to be
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: stretched out. But you know what, who cares As long
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: as he cool with the fact that he got a
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: V neck, regular neck, that's all that matters. You know
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Yeah, you know what I mean. Like
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: I'm teasing, but the reality is I'm using that as
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: an analogy, just to show you how simplistic it can be.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Anything that you allow to change your perspective on who
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: you are as a person will damage everything else that
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: you have going on. So all of us, one thing
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: I would say about all of us is involved in
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: our family is we're all who we are one hundred percent.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Ain't nobody pretending to be anything that they're not. And
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: I think that's going to push us way further than
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: any amount of shows or anything, because the consistency and
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: the realism that you see and you feel you can't
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: fake that, and that you know can't. You can't put
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: a price on it. There is no value to that
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: because you see so little of it. And especially in
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: this industry, people all do and say whatever it takes
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: to be wherever they feel like it's going down at.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: And you know, when you get to a point where
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: you're sending somebody into a room to negotiate for you
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: or negotiate on your behalf, and you know, I ain't
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: not gonna be able to convince Chad to do shit.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: This nigga don't even like to smile all the way
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: like he gotta have smile. So yeah, like I was saying,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: we're gonna we were really thinking about doing it this way.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: I heard what you said, but okay, like I was saying, though,
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: like that's you can't buy that, you know what I mean?
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: So I think that's what what what keeps us from being,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: you know, in a situation like a lot of people
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: that you see and a lot of entertainers are now like,
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: you know, what what am I gonna do? Because a
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: lot of people have been living check to check. You
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: gonna live check to check no matter how big the
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: check is, matter how much you may live check to check,
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: no matter how big the check is. So you know,
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: we just have a different perspective all the way around.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Like our business model is completely different. That's why you
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: see us affect the world the way that we have
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: because all the way from the performance aspect to the
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: you know, the boardroom aspect, it's all completely unique to us.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: So I mean, obviously you've created a legacy and you're
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: doing that now I'm wondering your family, like your children
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: now they watched it saying I want to be like
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: that or are you teaching them lessons?
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: And what lessons are you teaching them about financially well?
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: First of all, I have a child. Man, your children
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: know how many kids? I don't even know how many?
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: Nah my daughter. I have a daughter that's twelve years old.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: And that's a if I can say anything, that has
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: been the biggest blessing of COVID hitting is the fact
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: that I've been able to spend time with my daughter
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: that I would have never had under the old guard.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: And even if it goes back to when it goes
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: back to whatever it goes to, that time is more
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: valuable than anything that I could have gave her monetary,
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. And she understands what I do.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: Like the first five years of her life, I was present,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: you know. I was in North Carolina, she was there,
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: you know what I mean, back and forth to DC.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I was able to be there for those formative years.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: And then she got six on up to this year,
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: I didn't been just and I stop in, you know
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: what I mean, make sure everything good, everybody good, everybody ate,
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: ain't nobody feet dirty? All right? We good? You know?
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: And then I would always take her and her friends
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: on a trip for a birthday. You know, we would
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: go some we've been at you know, Miami and you know,
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Disneyland last year, just to show them, like, because I
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: know the way that they understand the world. It's like,
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: this is why I'm gone so much. I know it
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: doesn't make up for the time, but I still want
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: you to understand that me being able to do this
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: is a result of me being on the road and
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: doing all of this all that, and not only do
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: I want you to be able to benefit from it,
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: I want your friends and you and your close family
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: to be able to benefit from it too, because as
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: y'all grow, I want you to understand the importance of
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: being able to share in success and share in things
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: that you know. You don't have to feel like, oh
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: it's something good, mind, you know what I mean. I
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: want you to have the responsibility of knowing that because
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: you are my child, and because I have the perspective
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: that I have, it's gonna garner you a different responsibility.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: So I want you to start learning that responsibility as
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: early as possible. So that's why I make sure I
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: take her friends with her so she can know like,
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: it's not just it's about you. But it's not just
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: about you, because as you grow older, you're going to
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: have a greater responsibility than a lot of people around
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: you because they haven't been as blessed as you are.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Because I was one of those people that at a
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: certain point in time and I had to create the blueprint,
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: and luckily for you, I'm creating one that you can follow.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: But your friends might not have anybody around them that
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: can do that for them. So they can follow yours
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: because they've been around it the whole time and they
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: know it's real.
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: So let me ask you this for you rap.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: So obviously, you know, Nick Cannon provide a lot of
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: opportunities for most tellings, and people don't really I don't
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: think they fully appreciate that. Like he really took a
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: lot of people from not people didn't know who they were,
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: and they were superstars after they left the show.
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: So obviously, you know the situation that he's in right now.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: What's your opinion on that as far as like just
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: not really like too much like on a personal but
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: just like, how do you feel about like him not
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: having that show? Like it's like to me, it's his show,
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: but it's really not his show obviously now like we
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: learned that as his show. I mean as far as
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: like the legal yeah, fuck, all that, So like how
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: you feel?
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: How I mean, you know what, Man, It's like at
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: a certain point, I realize that there's not too much
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: praise that come with being genius in your moves while
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: you're still here on the planet. Usually, you know, when
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: you die, motherfuckers be like, oh man, he was so
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: great and he did all of these great things. But
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: when you're here, it doesn't really resonate with people because
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: they become accustomed, you know, and used to it. And
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: one of the things that the main thing that I
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: take from all of this happening is as much ship
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: as people have talked about Nick over the years, when
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: you see how much power he has in creating the
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: stars that he's created and creating a platform that he created, Like,
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: how do we not understand that it's just as important
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: for all of us to carry that same mind state,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Like it sucks, Like if
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: I would did I did? I wanted that to be
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: the way that it was going to end. No, I
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: wanted us to go out in Vegas.
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: Way.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: I wanted that to be if I had to pick.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, I'm just glad
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: that he had the vision to be able to put
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: us in position to do what we did. And as
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: far as the whole fallout goes, like, we haven't been
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: addressed at all. So until we're addressed, and that not
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: by Nick, like that's different, we you know what I mean,
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: Like he did everything that he was supposed to do.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: That was a family environment. So many black people employed
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: by this show. It's so many people that came from
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: that show, so many opportunities that were created from that show.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: We haven't been addressed at all. So as as a cast,
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: none of that, we haven't been addressed at all. So
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: I don't even feel comfortable giving an opinion until we're
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: addressed in some way because obviously my opinion doesn't count
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: that much because if it did, then we would have
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: been addressed publicly in some way, shape or form canceled.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: And I don't know nothing was said. I just know
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: the shit don't come on no more. That's all I know.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: When I turn on TV on the days that it's
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: supposed to come on, it's not. And that's all I know.
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: That's crazy because like there was I mean for months,
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: especially during COVID, that's the only thing that was.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: That's the only thing. A lot of people watch and
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Yeah right, and you know
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: who knows, but you know what I mean, it's kind
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: of like, you know, for the cast for us, you
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: know what I mean, on the on the corporate side
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: of the game, Like you know, it is what it is,
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: you know what I mean. It's kind of like if
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: the best way that I can explain it is kind
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: of like the way that that the Powers that Be
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: presented it. It was like Nick and Viacoma getting the divorce,
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: and it's kind of like the cast as the kids
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: they got to stay out of grown folk business and
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: at that and at this point, I'm staying out of
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: grown folk business, you know what I mean. And I'm
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: gonna leave it at that because I know how much
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: that space not only means to us, but it means
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: to us. When I say us, I mean us, that's
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: our in Living Color. I was just thinking that, you
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: know what I mean, that's our generations in Living Car,
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: that's our generator. That's a black show that was you
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: know what I mean, employee, black people had a black
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: show runner, black executive producers, black people who I mean
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: all the way down to the people who drove the
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: vans from the hotel to set every day. A lot
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: of these people went on to start their own media
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: companies and all of that, Like this is a this
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: is a structural platform that worked for us. So until
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: us is addressed, then I don't know what the hell
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: is going on. I just know I lost my job
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: while I wasn't working it. I got fired on my
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: day off, not even on my day off. The COVID
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: cut everybody off. And then it's just like we just
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: was like, oh, it's over over, over over over okay,
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: like ever ever it was over over, So it's you
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: know what I mean. I just you know, I'm just thankful.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: I'm thankful for the opportunities that Nick has provided for us,
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: all of us are. And you know, as far as
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: him personally, man Nick a big boy man, he'll be
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: all right, you know what I mean. That's what I know.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: I hadn't seen that dude do all types of magical stuff.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: He'll be straight. But as far as but wild'n out
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: is and all of us, you know what I mean, Like,
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: I think that there should be more of an appreciation
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: for what that space has brought to us as a people,
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Regardless of whether or not
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: how you feel about what happened, you know what I mean?
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: And obviously Nick has apologized for what he said, so
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: you know what I mean, it's nothing more to discussing
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: that regard. He's doing what he's supposed to do directify
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: that situation. But there's a whole group of people who
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: are affected by this who haven't even been said hey, man,
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: appreciate y'all or anything. And that doesn't just go for
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: our generation. I'm talking about from the guys that were
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: superstars that came from the show before we got on it.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: None of that has been addressed. So I mean until then,
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: you know, don't I don't know how they feel about us.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: That's dope, man. One last question, so how'd you get
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: in stocks? Because I know you talked the other day
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: and you said you would invest in your brotherhood and
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: all that, Like who turned you onto that?
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: Another conversation the me and Loe's talking, like you know
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: what I mean, He was like, man, you you fuck
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: with the Stocks? I'm like, nah, you know what I mean?
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: He was like, yeah, I'm just getting on it too.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: But you know, it's just a app called Robinhood that
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: you know, you should you should get with, and you
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: know what I mean, we got to talking just about
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: different things, uh, you know, different stocks that we bought
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: and different things that we use on a daily day basis.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: And that's how it started. Really didn't have any real
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: information on like you know, the depth and wealth of
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: information that you guys have, But it was just, you know,
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: I go to the you know, it's it's a Shell
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: gas station by my house that I get all my
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: gas from. So I bought Shell, Nike or some Nike
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: because I'm you know, all that stuff that I used, Apple,
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Netflix and Disney, you know what I mean, Facebook, all
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: of that. All of that was what I started with.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: And then it just, you know, I started to get
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: a little bit more in tune with it. I'm never
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: mind you I would be lying to you if I
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: said that I was as in tune and interested as
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: I am. After talking to you guys, because you know
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: that night, I was like, man, give me ship. Did
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: you did you take the advice that night?
- 1:12:03Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: He did it on the spot. We going to talk
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: after this Friday was a great day or it was
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: I didn't even know, Yeah that's yeah, Yeah I took
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: the advice, and you know, and that's the thing I'm not.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: I'm not one of those guys that you know. The
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: only reason why I know what I know is because
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: I know I don't know shit. I don't know nothing.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: I'm willing to learn whatever. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: and I'm willing to hear anybody out about whatever, even
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: if I disagree with whatever we talk about. I'm never
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: too big to have a conversation. That's that's a value.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: And what you guys are providing in regards to information,
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: especially for black people is necessary because that's not something
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: that I ever was taught in my life. I know
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: how to go get some money out the street, but
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: I don't know how to go get some money off
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: of Wall Street, you know what I mean. And that's
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: something that we need to be taught. So, you know,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: salute to you guys, man for what you guys do,
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: because it's so much information that's that's being skipped over.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: We're being gipt over in a lot of ways. And
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: now we got somebody that's of our culture and of
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: our background that takes value and teaching us this information.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: And even though I got started by just having that
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: conversation that we had, this is no different than that,
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: you know what I mean, That's all it is. I'm
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: big on that. Man. We gotta we gotta as black people,
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: we gotta start knowing that man, we not I'm not
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: just not the enemy. And it's gonna take some time
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: because we didn't done so much damage in the process
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: of having a different perspective. But bro, it's we gotta communicate.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: It's some game out here, you know what I mean.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: When we was hearing of Wall Street trapper talking about
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: how a white man in jail taught him about white
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: collar you know what he was doing in the white
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: collar side of the game, and he got all these
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: millions of dollars and only got eighteen months with I
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: got a cousin doing thirty five years for a pistol
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: and some dope. It's like he did not have anywhere
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: near a million dollars worth of pistols of dope. He
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: didn't have fifteen to sixteen hundred dollars worth of pistols
