DR Congo's Ebola crisis deepens
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is currently battling its largest and fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record, which has officially escalated into a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Since the epidemic was declared in mid-May 2026, confirmed infections have skyrocketed to 3,973 cases, including 1,801 deaths, resulting in a devastating case fatality rate of 45.1%.
