- 0:01Ascent and integration, relentless effort.
- 0:06What many do not appreciate is that any attempt to achieve
- 0:09individual perfection or transformation is limited by the
- 0:14readiness of the world, and the rest of humanity in particular,
- 0:19to accept those changes that are needed for this to occur.
- 0:23Thus, progress will necessarily be partial, halting, and in some
- 0:29cases there may appear to be retrogressive steps as forces
- 0:34that oppose the changes, raise up their defenses and fight to
- 0:38prevent the next step of progress from taking hold and
- 0:42becoming the standard from which the further steps of progress
- 0:47could then begin. There is a range of capacity
- 0:51available within humanity at any point in time, and as long as
- 0:55the individual stays more or less within that range, progress
- 0:59can be made. Once an individual reaches the
- 1:03upper boundary, however, and attempts to go beyond, the real
- 1:07resistance can kick in. This is where persevering,
- 1:12relentless focus and effort is required.
- 1:15Without accepting failure or discouragement as the final
- 1:19answer, one may attempt to overcome the force of desire.
- 1:25For instance, various methods have been tried in human
- 1:28history. Yet the individual is not immune
- 1:32to the vibrations that cause desire to arise, and with the
- 1:36least failure of vigilance, these vibrations can take hold
- 1:41and manifest within him. It can be even more difficult if
- 1:46active opposition arises to protect the status quo.
- 1:52In his epic poem Savitri, A Legend and a Symbol, Srioro
- 1:57Bindo provides an illuminating segment describing the world
- 2:01redeemer's efforts. Quote, hard is the world
- 2:05redeemer's heavy task. The world itself becomes his
- 2:09adversary. Those he would save are his
- 2:13antagonists. This world is in love with its
- 2:17own ignorance. It's darkness turns away from
- 2:20the Savior light. It gives the cross in payment
- 2:25for the crown. End Quote Reference Book 6 Canto

- 2:37It is only by a very persistent effort that one can succeed in
- 2:40overcoming his difficulties. And yet it seems impossible to
- 2:45cut oneself off completely from one's solidarity with the rest
- 2:49of the world. Therefore, a perfect purity, a
- 2:54perfect perfection, seems impossible so long as the world
- 2:59has not reached at least a certain degree of perfection.
- 3:03Even the ascetic, the solitary who goes and sits in a cave or
- 3:08under a tree or in the jungle, cannot completely free himself
- 3:13from solidarity with the rest of the world.
- 3:16The air he breathes is full of all the vibrations of the world.
- 3:20The food he eats, whatever it may be, even if it is reduced to
- 3:25the minimum, contains the vibrations of the world.
- 3:29And so it is enough for him to exist to be in solidarity with
- 3:34the difficulties of the world. That is why, in fact, the way is
- 3:39so long, even without having any other consideration than that of
- 3:44what one is absorbing constantly into himself.
- 3:47When breathing or eating all these things one must constantly
- 3:52transform as one goes on absorbing them.
- 3:56It is a continuous alchemy in which one absorbs a particular
- 4:01kind of vibration containing all the possible disorders, and must
- 4:06transmute this into something which is ready to receive the
- 4:10light from above. And this work is perpetual and
- 4:16perpetually renewed. So it is impossible to live in
- 4:20this world, in the world as it is, and become perfect without
- 4:26the world itself making a great progress.
