A four-year-old girl died after finding a handgun in a car and accidentally shooting herself—her father, a convicted felon barred from owning firearms, has been arrested for negligent homicide. Police say the gun was unattended in the vehicle while adults were nearby; the father allegedly left the scene after rushing his daughter to the hospital. Authorities are still investigating his state of mind at the time, but his prior felony conviction makes this tragedy even more preventable.
