- Lucas: Hej hej, and welcome back to Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for episode 69? That's a good number. Lucas: Absolutely. Today we're going somewhere useful — a market. Specifically, buying fruit. Luna: Oh, I love markets. All the colors and smells. But I always freeze when I have to ask the price in Swedish. Lucas: Exactly why we're here. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Swedish, honestly, if today was worth a coffee to you, that's the link — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It keeps us going. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps. And it keeps these episodes ad-free, which is nice. Lucas: Right. So, at the market, you see a pile of apples. You want to ask: 'How much are the apples?' In Swedish: Hur mycket kostar äpplena? Luna: Hur mycket kostar äpplena? That sounds like 'how much cost the apples.' Lucas: Exactly. Hur mycket means 'how much,' kostar is 'cost,' and äpplena is 'the apples.' Try it. Luna: Hur mycket kostar äpplena? Lucas: Perfect. Now let's say you decide to buy three bananas. You say: Jag tar tre bananer, tack. That's 'I'll take three bananas, please.' Luna: Jag tar tre bananer, tack. Jag tar — I take. Tre bananer — three bananas. Tack — please. Lucas: You got it. And if you need a bag, you ask: Kan jag få en påse? 'Can I have a bag?' Luna: Kan jag få en påse? That's useful. Påse means bag. Lucas: Yes. And after you pay, the seller might say 'Trevlig helg!' — 'Have a nice weekend!' Let's practice all of these in a little scene. Luna: Okay, I'm at the market. I see apples. Lucas: So you ask: Hur mycket kostar äpplena? Luna: Hur mycket kostar äpplena? Lucas: And I say: Tjugo kronor kilot. Twenty kronor per kilo. Luna: Okay, I'll take three bananas instead. Jag tar tre bananer, tack. Lucas: Bra! And I hand you the bananas. You might ask for a bag. Luna: Kan jag få en påse? Lucas: Absolut. Här är din påse. And then I say: Trevlig helg! Luna: Trevlig helg! Same to you. Lucas: See how natural that felt? Let's do a quick recap. First phrase: Hur mycket kostar äpplena? Luna: Hur mycket kostar äpplena? Lucas: Second: Jag tar tre bananer, tack. Luna: Jag tar tre bananer, tack. Lucas: Third: Kan jag få en påse? Luna: Kan jag få en påse? Lucas: And finally: Trevlig helg! Luna: Trevlig helg! That one I remember from the weekend episode. Luna: Yeah, I'm going to use 'Kan jag få en påse?' next time I buy apples. Thanks for this episode. Lucas: You're welcome. Keep practicing, and we'll be back with more Swedish soon. Hej då! Luna: Hej då!
